Dissatisfied! Disappointed

By Aura J |

I was so disappointed! Waited over 2 hrs and after we got there the gods was not good. The chicken was not fresh and the food was cold. We came all the way from Louisiana just to visit this place. We busted the Gower location. My family members told me to go there but I am disappointed! The only thing that tasted ok were the greens.

When in LA

I absolutely love Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. Anytime I'm in the LA area, Roscoe's is a must. I've had multiple great experiences with the Hollywood location as well. Roscoe's needs to expand their business to the Midwest!

Bucket List for LA

By Kelsey L |

Roscoe’s on 1514 N. Gower definitely lives up to the hype. It is an iconic stop we had to make on our trip and it did not disappoint. The food was so very delicious and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We’ll have to swing by again before our trip is over. Definitely a must do while in Los Angeles.

Awesome Food, Great Vibes On Saturday

By Christina Lynch |

The food was on point! It was so good that my friends and I went twice on our trip. Saturday was busy, with great vibes and music. We sat by the kitchen, so we were jamming to the early 2000s music from the kitchen. Sunday, the food was equally good but quieter. The fried chicken and Mac and cheese are the way to go.

That chicken was GOOD

By James C |

Everything about this restaurant is fabulous. The welcome on the street, the staff (it was Jeroen’s first day and he was great), the southern fried chicken, oh the southern fried chicken! Good value, great place.

Great chicken and waffles

By derrickwg36 |

This was my first visit to a Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles location, and I was very impressed. The staff was very informative and helpful to guide us through our first visit. We ordered the chicken, waffles, greens, macaroni and cheese, and cornbread. The food was amazing. The chicken and waffles were exceptional, and the sides were very good. I highly recommend trying Roscoes if you enjoy or have not had chicken and waffles.

wonderful experience

By kimfrancess |

Roscoe's house of chicken and waffles has a wonderful environment, very neat and sparkling place to have your meal at. I was told by my sister to check them out and it was more than I expected. the chicken and waffles were very nice. I have visited more than twice and I enjoy the chicken. I sure would continue my visit here thank you!!!!

Pretty Good Chicken and Waffles

By Viktor U |

Ate here with two of my friends on our visit to LA. The fried chicken and waffles were pretty good, the Mac and cheese side was good and the service was good. It’s a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Meh!

By chantig24 |

The meal and atmosphere was not the greatest. I ordered the Obama, and the chicken wings to me was not completely done. And, the waffle was just basic waffles with added cinnamon. On top of the food being mediocre the table next to us was completely obnoxious to the point others and myself was unable to enjoy the food. But overall, I probably wouldn't come back.

Got to hit this

By CarnivoreGunter_TX |

Love my chicken and love this place. I went simple today. Three thighs and greens. Great service and good prices

Terrible food and service. Do not eat here!!

By Lowkey J |

It was terrible. I paid $70 for old food, flies all around in the restaurant, strawberry soda had like a film all in drink and I asked for a new drink and she brought the same exact drink out. The waitress came back to wait on us one time. She was outside talking to people who were not eating. Everything tasted days old. People walking in talking and not eating but just there at the restaurant. This was the restaurant in Inglewood. A nasty dirty location and the silverware wasn’t clean. I will never eat at another Roscoe’s again and I’m in California all the time.

Fun experience

By ronishia11368 |

We had to go to Roscoe’s as soon as we arrived in LA. The food was really good the chicken was on the tiny side but still delicious. My only issue was the service was a tad bit slow.

Oh yeah! A must do for LA - panty dropping chicken and waffles

By ZaniCarter |

We stumbled across Roscoe’s by accident and decided to give it a go. We went on a Sunday around 7pm so there was a 25 minute wait - but it was worth it. The interiors are tired, but park that for the food. The qtr chicken and waffles was excellent- you get to choose what cuts you want, the thigh and breast were enough for one adult with a big appetite. The chicken was crunchy on the outside and super juicy and tender on the inside. The waffles were beautiful with generous lashings of butter and maple syrup. Believe the hype, this place is fantastic. We will be back again before we leave LA, it’s that good. Don’t mind the rustic interiors, the food is worth it, although we ordered chilli cheese fries, we didn’t need it.

Open in New York City PLEASEEEE

By Lauren S |

This place was so good, we went twice in one stay! Wait time is super quick, but for the 10 mins outside, we took pictures near the famed sign, as well as pictures of the Nipsey Hussle mural on the side of the building... The chicken is fried to perfection, the waffle is so crispy, but so tasty! I need the recipe! also, The Sunset is my favorite drink. Fruit Punch and Lemonade. The 2nd trip, I brought a lil personal bottle with me to spike my sunset! Delish! Open one in New York City please!

Good

By antoinette l |

This was a must see while in California. Well the food was ok amd the prices were extreme for the meal considering I went to another famous restaurant serving the same food.

Fried chicken was SO good

By KatrinaPa |

We arrived right at noon on a Thursday and were seated quickly. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. Our food arrived quickly. The waffles were good (you have to order them, it's in the name), but the chicken was excellent. Next time, I would probably switch out for another side instead of waffles. This was definitely a worthwhile stop in Los Angeles. Oh, and we found street parking very close by--bring quarters for the meter.

LA Birthday57

By 25Shirley60 |

Traveling from TX, to CA, we stopped here because this place was on our "visit" list for my birthday. All the "hype" was not "all of that". Chicken pieces small, yams great, waffle was thin. Waitress Valerie was not friendly, maybe I'll try another location when I come back to LA, maybe not...NOT!!!... You never know who you're serving so customer service should always stand out. Even if the food is not good, the service should still sell. It makes people return. And bring others.I cook at home, I love to cook, and when people come to my home, even a first time visitor will always be treated with kindness. It sells. Sorry, I wasn't sold. I paid $20.22 and could have went through the drive thru at McDonalds for rudeness.

Chicken not cooked adequately. Nice staff, other food was very good.

By JaimitoCartero |

The staff was nice, but rather busy. Took awhile for our waitresss to come back each time. The chicken was very good, but I found that near the bone, the chicken was not fully cooked on the first thigh I ate. I checked the second thigh, and it was also undercooked. They did replace these, and take half off that meal, but a bit disappointing. Waffles, and macaroni and cheese were great. The seats were rather uncomfortable.

Melt in your mouth waffles

By Patricia M |

First time at this restaurant. I ordered chicken and waffles. The waffles were amazing and my chicken breast was juicy. I was given a complimentary piece of chicken because they felt my piece was too small. I did not expect that and was thankful. We went around 4:30 p.m. and was seated immediately. Service was good. I also ate the macaroni and cheese which was good. Sides were a little pricey for the portion. Overall, I was impressed with my visit.

Good food even better staff

By LyneM0409 |

Food was great service was even better. There was no long wait we were greeted and seated by the friendly staff. The food came out fast and delicious and hot(temperature). Our waitress even sang happy birthday to ur son.

Great chicken and even better omelette

By Grant B |

I got the chicken and waffle and it was delicious but the chicken omelette that my wife got was even better! I would order that if I went back again!

"The Perfect Waffle Does Exist!" | Delicious Fried Chicken

By Daniel Kahn Nelson |

This place proved to be just as the legends had foretold. This location could almost be considered a hidden gem if were not for its delectable reputation. From the moment you walk in the door, you know you are in for something amazing. When the plate finally arrived, it was everything I expected and more. The waffle was the very essence of culinary perfection honed through genuine love and care in its mix crafting. Its most likely the closest some will ever get to tasting the ethereal cuisine of the heavens. The fried chicken may very well have been the best I've ever tasted up this this point in my life. I took the time to try a few additional items on the menu and they all ranged from decent to decadent. This is definitely an American institution that must be on the bucket list of any foodie. Great service, great atmosphere, great history, and great food.

Delicious

By Chichi Marie |

This place is all that everyone says and more! Cinnamon buttery waffles! Big well seasoned chicken! And great service!!! Highly recommend

Best Wings

By Jwager |

Wings were soooo good. Definitely would go back. Also waiter was awesome. Resonably priced. Can't wait to go back.

Soul food

By Kyle V |

In the south we call this menu soul food. Just a perfect menu and execution. This place is a must visit for any LA trip

Had To Visit

By Ctroskoph |

While in LA, this is one of the must go-to places. The food is good but the experience is everything. Service is quick and friendly. If you are looking for fancy this is not for you; if you are looking for good fried chicken, this is the place.

Piping hot chicken!!

By Audrea S |

My daughter and I visited this location as we were headed out of town. We arrived around 830 am. I ordered the Obama with a side of grits. She ordered the Oscar. The service was excellent. The food came out quickly and we were not disappointed. The chicken was piping hot, the grits were cooked perfectly, the waffle was delicious. Absolutely no complaints here.

My favorite resto on the west coast

By Angel C |

Legendary Roscoes is the spot for amazing food and soulful environment. You can really feel the history of this place and the energy is just as satisfying as the food

Great food

By Terence T |

I couldn't leave LA without going to Roscoe's. The food was delicious. I had the Obama special which was recommended, the waffle was really good ans the chicken was well seasoned. Would definitely go back.

A must-try.

By chrace082810 |

This is my family’s 1st time, at this location. We’ve been to the Anaheim location multiple times. The outside looks old, and the inside is plain and simple. A little dark for my taste; maybe because there’s no windows???? We decided to drop by for brunch on Memorial Day holiday. We waited for about 30mins. The African-American lady calling out the names was super friendly. You better pay attention because she calls out names pretty fast and if you don’t answer, on to the next one! But, if you she did call you and you did not hear her, she’s very accommodating...she’ll have you be seated next. Food wise...we ordered our usual food. the Obama Special, with a side of corn bread and mac & cheese. Dunno why but the chicken was a little bland for me this time around. Overall, I still love everything about their food. Finding parking may be a hassle. Metered parking available all around the streets. It’s finding an available space that’s the issue.

Best Chicken

By Chef B |

The chicken was awesome!!!! The waffle was very good I'm just not a big fan of waffles. The waitress didn't seem to happy to be there but there was a long line down the street. Waiting time was not bad 30 min but then they just take your name and inform you to come back when you think it"s been 30 min.

Great "All Star" Breakfast!

By Pynkice08 |

My friends and I visited this restaurant for breakfast for three days straight while visiting Los Angeles. Roscoe's has great food and fast service! I highly recommend this restaurant when visiting LA. Their chicken and waffles are one of the best!

Yummmmmmm

By shellydon |

It was so delicious! We had chicken and waffles for the first time and are loving the combo! This is a busy place but staff was super friendly. We love good service and we love trying new foods and this was the place to try. Don’t pass it up.

Underwhelming

By GC-1990-A |

After reading the reviews I had high expectations. I ordered the 1/4 chicken on waffle, large portions however I wasn’t a fan of the flavour. My first time having chicken and waffles so I suspect fans of chicken and waffles might enjoy and it just wasn’t for me.

Holy S---!

By The Cycling Foodie |

I'm a Southern girl and I found the best fried Chicken in the US in Cali!! Worth the wait!! I will be back!!!! Fresh, juicy, crispy, mouth watering! Try the Sunset! Fresh juice you can't get enough of!

Good

By Watisha M |

Very crowded there was a lil wait but food was good waitress was very efficient and explained the menu and how everything worked make sure u stop here while in California

Perhaps my worst restaurant experience

By stonerose5 |

High hopes having heard about this place and to be told it was a 45 mins waiting list outside on a Sunday. To be fair it was nearer 30 mins but probably could have been none at all as we saw tables empty inside for 10+ mins and a long queue outside when we left. The low point was ordering 2 drinks and seeing them twice shunted around the room before disappearing - firstly back to the kitchen (the continued delay made us realise the confused look on the waiters' faces meant these were probably our drinks) and second time doled out to other diners who had ordered the same thing. Our third drinks order/prompt finally resulted in service half way through our meal - unfortunately my partner had ordered hot tea which having been redone was too hot to have with the meal. Final straw was having to ask for the bill and credit card disappearing for far too long and waiter who took it doing other tasks like clearing tables before it was returned! Oh, and the chicken was average at best

Great Service

By Derrick O |

Good food, great service and reasonable prices. The wait time between placing your order and actually being served is exceptional. I am happy to recommend this place.

don't miss these!

By Steven P |

Superb chicken breast and tasty waffle! Excellent and efficient service. We enjoyed eating at this original location.

good and affordable

By besiang2017 |

I've been to other location Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles and I strongly can recommend this place!

Disappointed

By Harwant B |

We're on holiday from London and I was really looking forward to our visit to Roscoe's based on all the publicity. My son had the chicken with onion and gravy, whilst I went for fried chicken. Might sound harsh but I'd put the quality and taste at KFC level. Nothing special at all I'm afraid, though the pancakes were nice (though not outstanding). My son rated the restaurant a 2.5. Service was friendly, though we had to wait ages for our root beers. Go and tick it off your list if you must, but don't believe the hype.

Must visit when in LA

By sweetbabiet |

Tasty fried chicken! A must do when in LA. The waffles are large but nothing special if you ask me but the chicken is delicious. I also had a side of mac and cheese that was delicious. Good Southern food great any time of the day. There was no line or wait when I went on a Friday evening around 8 and there was free street parking at this time which was convenient.

An LA icon

By coco091 |

Great convenient parking. Great aroma of warm syrup when you walk in the door. Great service. I always get the Obama special with an extra drumstick. Their chicken is just like I want it - crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside. Their waffles are a perfect size for me. Just enough waffle to set off the chicken. Roscoe's has been setting the bar for chicken and waffles for years. There are many imitations and they never get it right. I might try a new place, but I always come back to Roscoes.

Good food

By Kimela L |

Roscoe's House of Chicken & waffles is a place to visit. The food was good and it was delivered quickly. The area is really nice and centrally located.

Worth the wait.

By bosshog405 |

If you plan to eat heat get there early. You may not wait long for a table but the food also took a while to come to the table. The service could be better. But the chicken and waffles are good as expected. The waffles are well made and flavorful. And I am not a waffle person. The chicken is simple, but delicious.

Overpriced, slow, and not enough food

By daverich |

We were told a takeout order would take twenty minutes but ended up being forty-five minutes. Although the food was good, it was not very much for what we paid. The Obama Special, three wings and a waffle was $11.99. The wings were no bigger than what you might get a BW3, very small. Others in my party had the Scoe’s special at $14.49 each which was three pieces of chicken and two waffles. Again the chicken pieces were small. Not sure I’ve ever seen real chickens that small before. The total bill was $55.00 for carry out without drinks. Drinks would have been another $2.99 each. After eating everyone was still hungry so we ended up at Ralph’s to get more food.

Pretty much what you'd expect.

By DougieG67 |

There's a lot of hype surrounding a lot of fried chicken restaurants and not all of it is deserved. Roscoe's is one that didn't live up to its hype. We luckily didn't have to wait more than about 25 minutes to get in but as we left there was a line that was likely an hour or more. Since they're famous for the chicken and waffles that's what I ordered. The waffle was nothing special, but I didn't expect it to be. I expected it to be more of a companion to the chicken. The chicken, however was fairly disappointing - A bit dry in general and the run/crust was fairly bland. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing to write home about. If you can get in without a long wait, I'd give it a try. If not, give it a miss.

Very good

By Journey782465 |

The food here was so good! We went on a Sunday and it was so busy. We decided to order to ours to go

Good food, long wait!

By Zurita1909 |

Food is really good, drinks are Not good at least the juices…bad service, but maybe justa bad day for the waitress, Definitely comeback!

Wife’s first visit

By Max |

This was actually my second time at Roscoe’s. We dropped by for breakfast before heading to San Francisco. Wife and daughter ordered the waffles and I had the eggs and chicken ( I think it’s called the Stubby on the menu) with an extra biscuit and grits. The girls loved the waffles. Chicken was a little dry but well seasoned. Biscuit was powdery ( I’m crazy about and prefer Popeye’s biscuits and will even settle for McDonald’s breakfast biscuits). Grits were a bit on the Al Green side (aka watery). What was cool to observe though was that not one customer was on their cell phone. Everybody was enjoying their food and conversation with each other. I will return, if only because it’s an iconic restaurant!

Roscoe's Serves up an AA++

By luckee77 |

While visiting in Long Beach, per my kiddos request she had to go eat at this place that served Chicken and Waffles. The atmosphere was buzzing but welcoming. We had four in our party so we each had a different dish and they were fantastic. Not one complaint. ROSCOES definitely delivers many appealing options to choose from. So make this your dinner stop when you are in the LBC!!👊🏽👊🏽 my rating is-- AA++

Long wait but tasty chicken

By AtticAsian |

I actually stumbled upon this place as I was googling for places for takeaway. The place is not well lit and small but you should be able to spot it by the queue of people sitting on the bench outside. Upon entering, I could feel that it is a really communal and cosy place. The takeaway took a while but it was okay as I was having a nice chat with some folks there (I believe his name is Albert). You do not see muchbwhites or Asians there and people may give you some curious stare, but no reason to feel threatened or anything :) I ordered the Stubby - chicken breast with a wing, two fried eggs, a biscuit and grit for about USD16 and they were delicious! You can choose the style of your eggs too! Though I had to Google on how to eat grit. Basically you can just peel off the chicken and throw them into the grit. It tastes really good :)! The portion is huge if you are a small eater but you can always keep the grit or biscuit in the fridge for breakfast! PS: Just wish they have a t-shirt for their merchandise. I LOVE the logo :)

Gross!!!

By deidra m |

After all the hype, we finally visited this place. First off, it's a very small location, and the line was wrapped around the building. The chicken is overpriced and under seasoned. We paid $86+ for a 8pc chicken and waffle meal, and 2 sides. Not only was it overpriced...but both me and my sister got food (Salmonella) poisoning. Our shopping day turned into a day in the bathroom and in the bed. We wanted to like it, but unfortunately, it was an unpleasant experience.

Roscoe’s - ‘nuff said

By Schoolier |

The epitome of comfort food - Roscoe's chicken and waffles is fantastic. For primarily featuring chicken and waffles, the menu is pretty lengthy, but in the end it is all delicious. I enjoyed the "Obama" - wings and waffles. The batter on the chicken is perfect. Seems to be deep fried and then baked, for a crispy crunch without being overly greasy. The waffles were really good, with a surprising hint of cinnamon in the batter. We got lucky with our wait (maybe 5 minutes), but the place was packed and the line was down the street when we left. Obviously popular and for good reason.

You will be full all day

By Kosmic K |

We stopped at Roscoes for Breakfast in downtown Hollywood before our flight back home to Chicago. We got here right when they opened which is about 9am. We were welcomed by one of the staff very warmly and seated right away. It only took about 6 minutes or so to order and it was 6 of us ( 3 kids)The lighting in this location is really dim, and they gave us a wobbly table, but it was fine. The food here is really good, they offer a classic chicken and waffle flavor. There are a few places like this in Chicago and none of them can top the flavor here. Everything from the scrambled eggs to the fried chicken was really fresh. The chicken wasn't too crunchy or fried hard either (just how I like it, so you can actually taste the flavor of the bird). They also offer mixed drinks like lemonade and tea, or fruit punch with lemonade. My daughter had the fruit punch with lemonade, it was extremely sugary to the point were it was not appealing to me. The waffles are rich and slightly buttery, nothing like I have ever tasted when dining for breakfast. It was perfection. I would love to go back, as I didn't have to eat for the rest of the day. It's a nice coma to put yourself in before a long flight.

Lives up to its Legendary Status

By Roldanlopez |

Amazing southern food, expertly prepared. Most famous for its superb chicken and waffles, however the mac and cheese really stood out. What makes the place a cut above is the outstanding service and smiles from the staff. They make you feel like family the moment you walk in. Come hungry and leave all thoughts of calories at the door.

Solo

By Cwils32 |

I've heard so much about this place when I came I walked over a mile to get there and it was worth every step. I waited for a while for it just to be one person, but, it still wasn't that bad. The place was busy for a Sunday evening and the staff was moving fast working hard. My food came out really fast!!! I was impressed how fast it was. It was hot and very good!!! The waffles are some of the best around. This place is a must if you're looking for some good home style cooking.

I've had better

By Sharon T |

We are east coast visiting for the first time and heard amazing things and Roscoe's. I had wings and a waffle my daughter had thighs and a waffle. This was our 1st and last trip to Roscoe's chicken and waffles in LA on Gower St or period. Just needed to mention the location. The waffles tasted like they were frozen waffles; the syrup was bland and not sweet at all, and the chicken was not seasoned. We went on Monday evening August 29 around 6pm. There is nowhere to park and very difficult to know when door to get into. needless to say, we will never do back to that place

Food was great...service not so much

By Brittney |

First, I think having no seats to wait inside for a table is insane. But being brought in by security (beyond over the top) and seeing an almost empty resteraunt is equally insane. Considering we were forced to wait outside for 15 minutes. We ordered our food and drinks and it actually came relatively quick. Then came time to leave. We sat there for well over 30 mins. We watched a table have 2 different groups cone and go. We got a box for what my husband couldn't finish, but no check. He had to flag down the waiter two more times to pay and get our card back. I would not be exaggerating if I said we waited nearly an hour without seeing our waiter after our food arrived.

Wish they were in Minnesota

By angela j |

This is a must have is your in the LA area ask the sides macaroni and cheese green sweet potatoes cornbread I'm getting hungry just talkin about it but it's a must-have area

Yep, Not Disappointed

By Jennifer H |

I have heard about this place a number of times and seen it on TV just as many. Recently, I took my kids to the La Brea Tarpits and finally went to Roscoe's since it was pretty close by. I really wanted to go the original location because that's how I roll. We were not disappointed in the food. The chicken was crispy and juicy and the waffles were delicious. We also got some really great cornbread and grits that I couldn't quit eating. So good. The service wasn't the best. We were seating pretty promptly but then waited FOREVER while someone came to take our order. People who were seated well after us ordered first. It was like 20 minutes before a waitress came to our table. The food did come fast and like I said, it was really delicious.

All hype

By Shirley B |

Wow, the famous roscos chicken and waffles, definately waste of good money, chicken was burnt rice and beans tasted like taco meat. Spent $78 and seriously waste of money. This last few days was doing my bucket list, now I am able to check my list off. California blah. Not impressed.

Chicken and waffles

By Jennifer D |

I must admit. Being a southern girl I wasn’t expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the chicken and waffles and it was really good. The chicken was moist and fried well. Would definitely go again. Yum!

Not Good At All

By Peggy W |

Go to the Inglewood restaurant. Food was totally different. Chicken was bland and over cooked. But the service was great. When we told her that we were not impressed it was like she already knew the food wasn't good

Amazing Chicken and Waffles!

By Christina |

My husband suggested we eat here and I am so glad we did! The chicken was amazing and the waffles were the best I’ve ever had. The cornbread and lemonade were also very good. Not only was the food amazing, but the staff were awesome! We left a bag of a bunch of souvenirs and didn’t realize it until the next morning. We called after they opened and they said they still had it. When going back to pick it up, they were all so helpful and the waiter had written a note of the date and table we were at stating we had left the bag. Seriously, you need to try this place. There was not a bad thing about the whole experience!

OMG it was everything you’ve heard it to be the food was amazing. Of course we had chicken and waffles. The service was quick and staff was very friendly.

Skip it

By marla w |

The things on the menu that I wanted, were not available. Although they are suppose to have beer/wine, someone forgot to go wine shopping. Slow service. I'm not going back.

Nice food :)

By Aurelie M |

My bf had a list of places he wanted to try while we were in the US…! This one was one of them. We went to the one near Sunset boulevard, less than 10mn away from our air bnb. All the staff were really nice and kind to us. Service was good and relatively quick! I took a chicken breast with a waffle, I have to admit, even if it’s not my type of food at all, it was very good, the battered was crispy and yummy (don’t count the calories there though!) and the waffle was nice! I also liked the relaxed and local style of it. Not frequented by tourists, only locals…! The owner (I guess) was having a chat with everybody, including us, he was super friendly and funny. Bill was correct ($50 with tax and tip, my bf took a massive plate at like $22 so… he also had a drink), we really enjoyed our meal there. Also, the portions are MASSIVE! Highly recommended if you like fried chicken :)

It's a Classic!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great meal

By Summer |

Great spot to get a filling breakfast for the day! Service was helpful and appreciated. Had the chicken omelette and chicken sandwich, both were delicious and comforting. We went hungry and finished pretty much everything. Would enjoy re-visiting again when in LA.

Yummy! Craving more chicken and waffles right now!

By CharmChari |

I had super high expectations because I’d wanted to come here for a few years from Northern California. I was not disappointed ! I just wanted the basic chicken and waffles and the chicken was done perfectly nice juicy breast and not gobs of breading......super moist and flavorful. Slice a bite of that chicken with a butter topped toasty maple syrup drenched waffle and my mouth was Super Happy!!!! Portions huge. Go hungry because you will leave full and happy! Will go back next time in LA!

Yes, please!!!

By L0v3toTrav3l |

We’ve eaten at Roscoe’s in Long Beach, no matter the location… they never disappoint!! Great service, great food!! Can get crowded, but worth the wait!! We ordered chicken & waffles, chicken legs with red beans & rice with cornbread. Mmmmm!!

In the mood for fried chicken and waffles?

By hatleyvm |

Roscoes fried chicken and waffles are the best. The chicken is very tender and crispy outside. Service was very attentive and friendly.

Dont listen to the hype

By Jayla P |

The food here was really hyped to be bland and the chicken wings are extremely small and dry. I thought this would be good soul food but really a waste of money.

Poor service

By MICK |

Poor customer service with the waitress and manager do payment situation. Upon arrival waitress did not advise us that they could only do two separate checks until after we were seated. They were both rude and unprofessional. I would take a dog here to eat..

Ok

By pisces63 |

The food and service was good. We had four party they want separate your tickets. Only two. They are little expensive for chicken. 122.00 for the four of us. Small portions.

Amazing Chicken

By Karen B |

This chicken is amazing, Freshly cooked and very crispy. I can't say much on the waffles don't really care for the waffles. Chicken was pippin hot and was very crispy. You have to wait about an hour to get seated but it's well worth it.

Horrible!!!!`

By travelbug00shiloh |

I paid $112 for a meal of tiny chicken wings and small scoops of mac n cheese and candied yams. The wings were over-cooked and the size of cornish hens. I've eaten either at this location or others and have had maybe decent experiences. This by far was my worse experience. This place is overly hyped and the food was not good at all. Hell I cook better than this and I'm not much of a cook. $8.95 for sides that were literally a scoop size. Four small wings for $12-14 and smal size???? What a rip-off. I will never eat at this place again and strongly suggest others check the prices and eat somewhere else. Totally not worth it!!!!!

Not worth the hype

By damckin_99 |

I have always wanted to try this place. The waffles were simply ok..the eggs were ok..tried the eclipse drink and it was simply ok. It’s one of those tourist attractions that you have to try once but nothing worth writing home about..I can’t speak on the chicken because I didn’t try it

Amazing chicken and waffles

By bumble_24 |

Being our first time to the states we decided we had to give chicken waffles a go and this place didn't disappoint. The wait staff was amazing he took his time and was extremely polite. It was quite funny when my partner thought the butter on the waffle was ice cream and ate a big scoop. All round an awesome memory 👌

Just Okay For Me

By veronak |

I was not impressed. Tried this restaurant because it’s Black open and I’ve heard the name on the east coast. This wasn’t a planned trip but as I walked the streets of Hollywood, I stumbled across it. The staff was nice, the service was quick and the lemonade was delicious. I had chicken fingers, Mac n cheese, yams, and cornbread and I thought the food was just okay. I say try it you might like it

A legendary staple worth eating at at least once

By Cyrus P |

This place has Great atmosphere, friendly servers, and fantastic chicken and waffles! What more do you need!

A Good Meal at Roscoe

By TravelDeFamly |

Had dinner here after a walk on the hollywood walk of stars , we had the wing and waffles, the wings were a little overcooked but good had a good time the wait to get in was15min. good food and good service

Long wait time

By Janee |

We tried to go twice during our trip to L.A. but left because of the long wait. We decided to just wait it out...in the hot sun with no shade in front of the restaurant. Lots of other people in the same boat, and takeout was backed up as well. We waited 90 minutes. We were seated at a small table between the kitchens and a wet floor sign. The food was good. The service was lovely. I would only return if there was no wait time.

Was not impressed one bit

By George N |

Ordered the Chicken and waffles and the waitress suggested the smothered potatoes citing how delicious they were. They were terrible in a mass produced kinda way. The chicken was over fried and the waffle was soggy and spongy as opposed to being light and fluffy. The only thing tasty was the syrup.

Inconsistent

By Kendita |

This was my second time visiting this location. The first time it was really good! This time not so much...The food wasn't worth the money or the location. I am sad to say that I never need to go again.

Overall well worth the visit

By Mike S |

There was a wait to get in but it was worth it. The chicken was tasty and spicy just thge way I like it. I found security staff as I entered obnoxious and rude but once seated the wait staff were extremely courteous and caring. It was not exceptional but It was tasty and I would visit again

Loved it!!!

By Joy P |

The chicken and waffles were delicious! Visited several times during my week visit in LA. The customer service was excellent. It was the first place we went to when we got there. Can't wait to go back.

Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles

By CCC |

3 Wings,Potatoes and gravy. #20. Decent. Limited seating but quick and friendly service. Iconic restaurant.

Fried Chicken and waffles

By Dee Brown |

The chicken is seasoned well and very crispy. Waffles are waffles to me , but it was good as well. I also tried the mixed greens and mac and cheese. Service was quick and staff was very helpful and friendly.

Roscoe's

By Carmen T |

The staff was very friendly and quick service. We came early and there wasn't a wait. We had the chicken and waffles. The chicken was hard and overcooked. The waffles were just ok. I wouldn't come back.

Great waffles.

By pandacb |

Service was really friendly, and our orders came out fast. Had the chicken wings and waffles and I really likes their waffles. They were thin and tasty. The place looks like it needs some updating, but it was still busy.

Yummy!

By kimberlytoby29 |

My husband and I visited Roscoe's chicken and Waffle last week and the food was delicious! We ordered the chicken, waffles and mac and cheese. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. The food was so good, we ordered a to go plate for later that evening. The hostee and waitress were both polite and nice. When I'm back in LA, we will be visiting again.

Just what we needed

By Tripster1999 |

How do you squeeze in eating at three restaurants within a 12-hour time span? Travel with me and my spouse! I actually had Mrs. White's Golden Rule Café bookmarked for our last layover meal in Phoenix but because they didn't open early enough, we ended up at Lo Lo's. ATMOSPHERE: Established in 2002 by Larry White, the restaurant is located in a quiet but shady-feeling part of southern Phoenix. They proudly display their back-of-house operation with big windows along the sidewalk where you can see them making their biscuits. The space has a fun vibe with soul music pumping throughout. Brick walls and industrial décor made for a modern feel. Seating is plentiful with a mix of booths, low tops and protected outdoor tables. MENU: It's huge! Southern-inspired breakfast selections, chicken & waffle combos, catfish, shrimp, grits, burgers, salads, desserts, kids menu. FOOD: Lil Amadi This chicken & waffle combo came with a drumstick, a thigh and a waffle! What a deal!? The chicken was crispy, juicy and seasoned perfect. I'm thinking they do a dry batter as there wasn't that nasty undercooked film you sometimes find in wet-battered fried chicken. The waffle had a nice crunch and was moist inside but there was a hint of cinnamon coming from either the syrup or the waffle itself that I could've done without. Still, I'd totally order this again. Very tasty! One Buttermilk Biscuit It was a hearty portion with great flavor and just the right amount of moistness. Comes with a dollop of butter and jam to the side. Cheese Grits Talk about butter and oil overload. While it was tasty, there was way too much butter that crowned the bowl. The copious amount of cheese also left a big oil slick at the top. I understand that southern cuisine isn't healthy but they should be put on the side so one can regulate their cholesterol intake, LOL. SERVICE: Amanda was our terrific, on-the-ball server. She was friendly, professional and checked on us often. TIP: The entire menu is available from breakfast time, which is how they earned our biz! OVERALL: The best chicken and waffles I've had yet. Lively ambiance, nice menu, great service. A definite return!

Okay

My family and I visited Roscoe's for Dinner. Service was quick & great, but food was ok. Had the fried chicken& greens, my husband had mac & cheese red beans & rice and the sides were pretty good, Raven was the manager and she was awesome! She came around to the table to make sure that we received our food hot and fresh.

Best food in Southern California

By Nakia A |

Best soul food ever. I I enjoyed the Obama dish 3 wings and 1 waffle for breakfast. We went back for dinner.

Bucket List

By Jackson C |

We were in L.A. on business and planned to visit Roscoe's as a bucket list 'cross off"...It did not disappoint...We had the traditional Fried Chicken and Waffles and shared Mac and Cheese and collard Greens...Everything was prepared exceptionally and service was adequate (place was jammed by 11:30 A.M.)...Great experience...

Visiting for the first time

By jtracie64 |

Myself, son and daughter went to LA for the first time in April for his birthday, the first place we went to was Roscoe's, we had an hour wait, went to visit a family friend near by and came back, was seated pretty soon when we came back, the food was great, my son ordered the obama special, when ever I get back out to LA. I will have to go again, we went to the one on Pico Dr, the service was great, will check out another location when I come back.

Had to See What All the Fuss was About

By Qwonthafia J |

Restaurant greeter was friendly and we were seated within 15 minutes despite the long line of guests. I had the chicken and waffles and the chicken was just okay. Nothing to write home about. The food came out fast and hot. Chicken seasoned well. Overpriced, with great service.

Not sure it’s worth the hype

By pinkypigs |

Had to que to get in , food was average a little bland and dry . Very basic inside and the toilets were filthy. I personally would not re visit. I think Popeyes is tastier !!

Excellent Chicken and Waffles!!

By miercoles b |

My family group of 20 visited this location on our recent trip to LA. We were all pleased. The chicken and waffles were top notch. We all had a range of things like macaroni, greens, chicken sausage, eggs, grits, etc. Everything was sooo yummy!!! The fries were the only thing I didn’t like. They tasted burned. Overall, we had a great visit!!

Overrated and Disappointed

By JohnnyCroomes |

My family and I couldn’t wait to get to Roscoe’s. We were so excited to finally get here to eat dinner. The waitress was less enthusiastic about being there. Once the food was ordered our excitement started building again despite the waitress. My wife ordered the chicken wings dinner and it looked tasty because of the golden brown texture. I had ordered the chicken thigh, leg, rice and gravy plus biscuit. I was surely disappointed when served. The thigh and leg were over cooked and hard. The biscuit was dry and the rice and gravy saved the meal. My daughter chicken was hard and dry that she couldn’t eat. The red beans and rice was terrible. I will never ever go again.

Steve Harvey recommended

By Karen L |

Our family was visiting the LA area and had spent the day at a Family Feud taping. During commercial break, an audience member asked him what is a “not to miss” place to eat. He said “Roscoe’s”. Came out of the taping very hungry so we brought up the directions and headed their way. So glad we did. After a short wait we were seated. It’s obvious it is well established and servers were pleasant. The fried chicken was excellent. Waffle was very good. We ordered a few sides that tasted authentic and homemade. This restaurant was a highlight of our trip. Thanks Steve Harvey for the recommendation!

We Were Not Impressed‼️

By Cyntrell J |

It was our first time. It was 8p. No, wait to be seated. Fast service. Did not appear busy. Steady, but no one waiting. I ordered the Obama Special (Chicken & Waffles). My husband & daughter ordered fried chicken w/ red beans. The food came out fast. It wasn't hot, w/ the exception of the waffle, which was the only thing that tasted good. The chicken was small, looked old & was dry. This was the Hollywood location on Gower. We were visiting from New Orleans. I was looking forward to eating there, but I was disappointed.

This place was amazing!

By Jonathan K |

I’ve been told by people and friends that this place serves great food, and boy were they right. We’re from Colorado, and majorly bummed that they don’t have one of these in Denver. The chicken was awesome, and man, the waffles, so good. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be back. If you’re thinking of going, don’t hesitate. It was great, well worth it. Also, at our location off of Gower street, server Kristian Mathews was so nice, and gave us great service. Two thumbs up for him.

Good food

By J Fran |

So of course, for being my 1st time in Cali I had to hit up Roscoe’s. We got there, and the parking lot was full. There was a parking attendant directing traffic which was awesome since there literally no places to park. There was a long wait which was ok with me since that was my expectation. I went inside and talked to the hostess to sign in and was able to finesse a table (just kidding- we were a smaller party then everyone else and was able to get a table quicker). The ambiance was low key. It looked like a diner. it had wooden back drops and reg seating area. There is a small bench on the side of the building where you can wait and there is also seating by the host stand available for you to wait also. It was noisy with all the people in the restaurant but not crazy loud were I couldn’t hear my associate talking. The service was slow, but I feel like everything happens in Cali slower than what I am used to. I got the home-made Lemonade and it was delicious. It came out way before the food, so I had to make sure I didn’t drink the whole thing at once since there was no refills on the lemonade. There were so many variations and options on the menu it was hard to pick. There were a lot of A la cart options to add on to your meal. I of course got the chicken and waffles because that’s what they’re known for. I also got the mac and cheese. The mac & cheese tasted really hit the spot. The chicken was well seasoned and cooked. I def should’ve added another piece of chicken to my meal. I liked the waffle, it also tasted good. The waffle tasted like a reg waffle and the Mac & cheese/chicken was really good. I enjoyed the food and the service.

Chicken and Waffles

By amberxapocalypse |

It is what is it. It's chicken and waffles. All sorts of chicken - fried, baked, dark, white, thigh, wing - you name it, they got it. The waffle is just sweet enough to not overpower the meal. The atmosphere is mysterious in its own way with a hostess outside the building as if acting as a bouncer for a club. It's a great place for late night, quick eats.

Amazing Meal!!

By G1090NYgayles |

Although I was told several times by several different people that Roscoe's might be over rated, I totally disagree. The ambience was that of a diner and cray cray busy. We were served with average to above average service. I arrived for breakfast, with a regular and the food was above both our expectations. My friend also commented that the food was excellent and seasoned so well. She suggested that it was better than that of her last visit about a month ago!! Of course we had the fried chicken and waffles; the grits; the potatoes. Didn't like the eggs though.

Chicken and waffles

By Susan H |

Six of us ate their famous chicken and waffles. The service was great. The chicken arrived hot and spicy (too much salt). Definitely recommend Mac and cheese, corn bread and waffles. Get their early ( before 10 ) if you don’t want to wait over 30 minutes.

Outstanding Meal and Experience!

By wfarmer001 |

Chicken was absolutely fantastic, both wings and tenders! Waffles were okay, biscuits and grits were very good! The Chicken is rightfully the Star! We went mid morning on a Saturday, easy to park and no line! Steady crowd moving in and out! A great experience!

I'll be back

By Djones328 |

We ordered the obama special...3 wings and a waffle.. Waffles were amazing... But the chicken was just ok. I think the grease needed to be changed because you could smell burnt grease. The bones broke easily which was annoying. Overall we were pleased. Going to try another location though.

Homeade Sides

By Liz T |

The chicken and waffles were good. Living in Texas I can get the same thing all the time. But I was impressed with their sides. Everything is homemade! I loved their yams so much I gave my food to my bf. The yams were sweet but not over the top. I would come back again. The only thing I didn't like - as with many places in LA - they didn't have parking. Great personable service.

Are you kidding me?

By 201shawn |

I have a 10 year old girl, that gets cranky when she is hungry, tired, and its 100 degrees outside. Well Roscoe's chicken solved that whole issue really quick. When she asked for more and said "This is the best fried chicken I have ever had" I couldn't have agreed with her more. Thanks you for the quick service and great food, you powered us back up to face that Walk of Fame and we needed it.

Well this is a piece of history, this place is old with dark ambience. You can spot many celebrities here. As the name suggests this place is famous for their chicken. We tried their fried chicken with waffles and liked it. Nothing special but good.

The reputation precedes Roscoe’s for a reason! Delicious classic fried chicken, waffles & friendly service.

By Lucy A |

Roscoes lived up to its reputation! We were incredibly pleased with our tasty meals that all came with the must-have fluffy waffles and accompanied by delicious fried chicken. Don’t get us started with the warm served buttered corn biscuits. Scrumptious! Generous servings and friendly staff made this a great all around experience.

Cali Tradition

By Leesa S |

Do not miss!! Best chicken ever, but I gotta say the smothered potatoes are ridiculous! Top ten of my best foods ever! Go Go Go!!

Freshly fried chicken, a bit pricey

By LoveToTravel |

The staff are extremely friendly and kind. Despite the 20 minute wait, we enjoyed the great weather outside but our name was called. Looking at the menu, I was a bit shocked at just how expensive the prices were. A few years ago, the prices were 40% less. For a chicken breast and waffle it's $12.95 and $3 for iced tea? Come on! I wont be going back, it's just too expensive for me. But, it is an LA institution and for someone who hasn't been before, I guess you do need to go. Hope this helps!

Love this place

By Dee22321205 |

Cheap and good the waffle are a most delicious the eggs are good too customer was ok not far from Hollywood strip

Heard good things about it

By WendyM1023 |

It was my first time last weekend to visit. There was a bit of a wait but not too bad. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Very good but the chicken was a little dry. Service was great. My friend got some sides with her chicken and I tried the greens. They were amazing. I'd go back just for those.

This Ain’t Nowhere Close to [Good] Southern [Home] Cooking!

By She S |

First, one of these stars is just for our host, who at 83 was the best thing about this experience. The food came out too quick! That should have told me it was sitting in a warming tray waiting to be doled out assembly style. The gravy was more flour than taste; the chicken was hard as a brick. The Mac ‘n cheese was OK, if you need a real recipe call me — my friend Ruth Rollin’s would make you die happy! The red beans came out of a can and who can screw up rice?! It was absolutely tasteless. So many people came up for a photo only and then departed. They were smarter than me...

Don't Believe the Hype

By Tawanna C |

I was so excited to try this place since everyone talks about how good the food is. But boy was I disappointed. We waited outside (standing up) for almost 1 hour only to get some very dry chicken, overcooked greens, tasteless and thin waffles...I am from Alabama and my family are the real soul food experts. Do yourself a favor, save your time and your money. Even my 7 year daughter was disappointed. Don't believe the hype!

Chicken Wings

By gordonjackson007 |

It's obvious that things have changed at this location. I moved away 19 years ago and the food was good back then. There's been a change and it's not a good one. The chicken wings lacked seasoning (flavor) and the waffles were just ok. This place had a formula. Somehow it has lost it. The location in Inglewood was amazing, this location is horrible.

Out of town guest

By Ayana G |

We arrived during lunch… I ordered the famous chicken and waffle trio. I was excited to finally get to taste my food for the 1st time. Sad to say. My chicken was old & grease soaked with limited flavor. Seasoning was definitely needed. My waffles were moist & very chewy. The reviews I checked before going definitely didn’t match my experience.

Millenniums vs Gene X'ers

By Linda M K |

Hanging with the youngins at this fabulous place. I lived in L.A when I was a young lady and was able to take my niece to the "still" best waffle and wing joint for over 30 years of my life. Thanks for continuing to allow me to make great memories with such great food, service and family.

Amazing!

By deathbyblackcat |

We were recommended this place by a friend, we are English so we're sceptical about the combination of chicken and waffles but oh my god this place was to die for!! The fried chicken was amazing, some of the best I have ever eaten. The waffles delicious. Service was good and efficient. Price was good for the size of the meal. We would definitely return!

Great fried chicken and amazing waffles

By Ryan Griffith |

This place is pretty good. The wait goes by quick and the food is def worth it. The service was good and we got our food really fast. Parking was tough but again was worth it. I’d def and am coming back. If I can make a suggestion for any body reading this do the Scoe’s meal w gravy if you don’t like it into so the gravy on the side w a side of rice!

Food is bland

By Niaozz |

Customer service is good but I wouldnt come back again, the place could do with make over and the food is bland

dinner after sight seeing

By toytoy1986 |

while i was out here for training in cali i had want to sight see in west hollywood. i had always wanted to try the famous rosco chicken waffles. the staff was very friendly and the establishment was very clean. the food was very good. definitely will come back again whenever i come back to cali.

Glad I went

By rtmjohnson64 |

The chicken thighs were overdone and dry on inside and hard on the outside. The waffle was terrific as was the greens and fried livers.

Great chicken!

By Dean W |

We had heard about Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, so we decided to stop while we were in Los Angeles. My daughter and I each ordered the chicken and waffles. The portions are large. The chicken was delicious, the waffles were average. The restaurant can be quite busy at times with a wait to get in the doors. The restaurant is worth a stop if you're in the area, but bring a big appetite!

Great Food!

By Kisha N |

We arrived at 9pm with a party of 6! We were seated and food ordered, we recieved our food at 930!Fast, professional, and the food was amazing!!!!

Good, not great

By Frank C |

The line was super long. I guess that should be expected. Tourists probably go there a lot. The food was decent. Not exactly sure what was so hyped up about it. It was good food but nothing to write home about.

Very Good Chicken and Waffles!

By Rhino2525 |

Flew in and was looking for a place to eat that wasn't a chain recently on business trip and came across this listing and remembered hearing about it before so found it for lunch. I was not disappointed. I ordered chicken and waffles and they were both hot and delish with a nice contrast between the sweetness of the waffle with maple syrup and the hot and tender lightly breaded chicken. I enjoyed looking at the pictures of celebs and VIPs that have dined there before. The service was very fast and efficient. If you like chicken and waffles, it is a good restaurant with several locations in the LA area.

Waffle and Fried Chicken to die for

By Bayarearesi |

Probably the best fried chicken I've ever tasted. Servings are excellent proportions and flavor in the chicken is just "wow".

Oh my goodness! It was a treat!

By Becks013 |

I was told it would be a 35 minute wait, it was. Waiting outside in the sun, without any place to sit was unfortunate. Once I ate my meal, however, I forgot about the standing in the sun. The chicken was exceptional (white meat), and the waffles were huge! I met the nicest employees who took care of me with expert customer service - from the podium, to taking my order, to making small talk with me when they saw I was alone, to paying the bill. The employees and the food are phenomenal! I don't know about parking as I uber'd.

Everything was just wrong

By MzCWard |

I came here as everyone does. There was about a 20 minute wait (outside with no seating area) there’s no parking for this place except for meters ..... good luck finding one. Once inside it was super hot , as of the ac was broken. The waitresses didn’t come over for about 10 minutes...( not exaggerated... my husband went to put coins in the meter down the street and she still hadn’t come to take drink orders) when she did come, we went ahead and placed our orders. I got a #1 for my kids to share, my husband and I both got the Obama meals. someone else brought the drinks out to us after about another 10 minutes. When we found our waitress to ask for a refill she looked at us as if we were speaking another language, and said I’m leaving, you have a new waitress....WOW... customer service at its finest. When the food came out, all of the chicken was cold. Sent back my husbands back and muscled the rest down. Ordered the $7 side of Mac n cheese for the toddler and it was the smallest side of nasty Mac n cheese ever. Lol I guess this is how it’s done on the west coast.

It was a nice meal

By molime1 |

The chicken was nice and crispy and the waffle was delicious. It would have been perfect if they could make the chicken spicy without having to use hot sauce. The kids didn’t like their tenders because of the waffle batter used and they said it was a little sweet.

Fried chicken and waffles to delight!

By JoeKas83 |

This was our first meal in LA. Loved it! I got the half chicken with 2 waffles. She got the Obama. The food was hearty and rich, exactly what I expected. Have to admit the portions were a bit much for us. Don’t think I’ll ever adjust to American portions. We had the left overs as take away. Staff were polite and the meal wasn’t expensive. There is some parking next to the restaurant, if that’s full there are some lots near by.

Eh, I’ve had better Fried Chicken & Waffles

By Bob S |

Roscoe’s well highly rated online and I was expecting a lot. Coming from South Carolina where Fried Chicken is a form of art, this Chicken was good, but not a wow. I’m used to buttermilk soaked, Fried Chicken that is juicy and has a good crisp to it. This chicken breast I had was ok, but not juicy or tender. The waffle was a waffle, nothing special and the syrup was watered down and not the consistency of syrup at all. And best of all, it was grossly overpriced for a Chicken Breast and Waffle! Don’t waste your time unless you’ve never had Fried Chicken and Waffles together before.

Let's get one thing clear. This is not your health/fitness juice bar.

By NeoNorth |

Let's get one thing clear. This is not your health/fitness juice bar. As long as you go there with this understanding and you know what kind of calories you are about to consume then you are good. This place is a staple in the LA food industry and well deserved. I never thought the combo of chicken and waffles was good, but when I put them together...BAM Magic!! Love this spot!

First time visiting

By IsmeryS |

OMG the waffles are amazing. I order the mac & cheese, chicken, waffles, and it was just Bomb. If you like soft fluffy waffles you should definitely try them. The food was reasonably priced and they have parking. It does get busy so be prepared to wait

Chicken was good

By BJNugraha |

Fortunately we didn't wait to long to be seated. Waiter was helpfull and we order chicken and waffle , mac and cheese. Chicken was good and waffle was so so.mac and cheese was just ok.

Good food.

By Sheryldapearl |

The food was excellent. a little crowded but it was a normal wait. Food was good and people were friendly. We were visiting from Ohio and wanted to visit.

Syrup, Butter, Fried Chicken!!

By JDavis |

Do yourself a favor and go ahead and dip your fried chicken in butter and syrup, its delicious. I got grits, greens, and mac and cheese on the side. ROscoes never dissapoints!

Oh Oh Oh Foodgasmic

By Rebecca M |

I took the food to go and I was still extremely pleased, so next time, and there will be a next time, I will be eating there. I would highly recommend you hitting up this place if you are in L.A. looking for some succulent chicken and waffles. After having some sub par fried chicken days before, this was truly a saving grace. Perfectly fried chicken with the right amount of salt, thin waffles that don't take over the meal, and Mac n cheese with yummy creaminess (though I do prefer my Mac n cheese more cheesy than creamy, it still tasted great). Another place I would highly recommend checking out!

Average

By thollandam |

Overall the food was decent. The waffle and the chicken were good. The hotwater cornbread was decent but not better than my grandmother's. The greens were decent, but had more stems than I prefer. I don't EVER have to have the potato salad. The lemonade was pretty good. Our waitress was not that attentive. She barely came to our table. Then they forgot our chicken when the food was brought to the table. It took forever for us to get the ticket. We had to go find our waitress. I may try a different location.

Going downhill...

By Julius S |

I make sure Roscoe's is on the itinerary every time I visit Southern California. This last time the food was not that good! My go to meal is the Obama special with a side of mac and cheese. My waffle was horrible! Dry and stuck to the plate!!! Not just my waffle but every one in my party had a bad waffle! After a 1 hour wait to be seated and another 30 minutes to be brought our food we didn't even complain just ate the rest of our food (which was good) and left. Won't be coming back to this location again.

Great food and service

By Yajaira R |

We ordered the 1/2 chicken with 2 waffles, this order was good for my husband and I, we mixed it up with white and dark meat and we had two biscuits. The chicken was delicious, the waffle was good too, but I think I prefer it crunchier. The waiting was not that long and the service was great all around. I recommend it.

Lunch with friends

By Lyla L |

place was a bit dim lighted but the food was excellent. Service was ok nothing to scream about but the food made up for the wait. Went to 2 locations while in cali. and they were both equally great with the food.

Chicken and waffles

By RoslynF |

The food is really good here. The only thing I wish was there was more food on my plate. They give you enough where you’re happy. I’ll come back if ever on the West coast again.

when in Los Angeles, this is a must stop....Best waffles I have had, next to Waffle House.. Very affordable and laid back eats.

It's real

By KatGiraldo |

When they say it's the house of the best chicken and waffles they are not kidding! We absolutely loved this place and their chicken was son tasty we went for a second time shortly after the first! The waffles have just the right amount of everything to make them perfect and the chicken is as juicy and crunchy as ir can get!

Great Chicken and Waffles

By Tom M |

We were in LA for a family trip and wanted to see if Roscoe's lived up to the hype we have read about. It definitely did! We got there around 8:30pm not sure what to expect from a wait stand point and we were seated right away. We ended up taking an uber from our hotel versus driving and glad we did. It seemed like parking might have been a challenge if we drove. Inside very much like a diner setting and seating. That said service was excellent and the food came out really quick. The chicken and waffles were excellent and none of us had any food left. We also ordered the Obama special and that was really good as well. The manager came around to make sure everything was to our satisfaction and made us feel at home. If you are a foodie and looking for a cool place that has been getting a lot of hype to stop, you won't be disappointed in this stop. Enjoy!

By Jeanette Trevino |

OMG, best chicken breast I’ve ever had. The breast is usually dry but this one, flavor was awesome. All grEy food and friendly people. Guy outside, security he had excellent customer service. Thanks for everything! Lubbock, Texas

Never disappointing

By Chip L |

We took our kids here for the first time and they were very impressed. The chicken and waffles were good as usual and the service was excellent. My teenagers are very picky eaters, but they enjoyed their food. We will be back!

Restaurant was very busy and chicken was very dry. Take your time to read the menu, the best deals are top of the second page. Vegetables were good and the Mac and cheese was pretty good. As stated the chicken breast was dry and overcooked, heat lamp? It appears they know the difference between the locals and the visitors. Visitors are a one time profit and they don’t care.

Waffle and chicken was so good!!!!! Highly recommend this place. Not a fancy place but definitely cool place to go.

Iconic but rather a let-down

So there was a big crowd of Dems outside because Bernie Sanders was finishing his dinner (this apparently being a place Pres Obama used to come to when in town). Why eat Southern Food in LA? Because famous people do, I guess. The chicken livers were a bit dry, the grits a bit watery, but generally not bad quality food, and not expensive. Atmosphere of bare boards and wooden tables is fine, but somehow a bit nondescript in the end.

Wanted to like this more than I did

I really wanted to like this so much more than I did and hoping I was just unlucky. We were there a little before 5 and the food came quickly, however the corn bread was dry and not made anytime recently, the chicken had a great coating and the skin was super crispy but cooked for too long as the chicken itself was dry.

My stomach is still full and now so are my arteries

Do not come here if you’re trying to eat healthy. It’s waffles with fried chicken and butter and then syrup and grits and then MORE butter. And fresh squeezed orange juice. I lived in Virginia for a while and I looove Southern food. Holy cow, I’d never done the chicken and waffles thing, but it’s a brilliant combination. We ordered chicken and waffle combos, with side of grits, biscuits, and some orange juice. Being Labor Day, we expected the line to be crazy, but apparently our hangover alarm clocks were just early enough to beat the lines - we got in with a 6 min wait. The food is delicious. The chicken is both crispy and chewy - a perfect crust, not oily, and the meat is tender and fantastic. The waffle is a bit spiced in the best way possible, and they give you a tiny syrup, which I thought wasn’t enough but it’s definitely just right despite the massive waffle. The grits taste instant, but were just fine. The only reason I knock it down one star is the fact that service was a little weird. We sat for a bizarrely long amount of time (10-15 min) with no drinks, no server, no acknowledgment. Once they came to assist and put our orders in, the orders came pretty quickly. Good food, decent prices, and we plan to come back.

The caption said it. Not worth the hype at all! They talk about it so much, I was expecting much more.I could've done better at home

We went for breakfast. Food was good. I’ve had better. Chicken needed more seasoning. However, it was a great atmosphere. Music was awesome. Waiter was great. Service was good. I can say I’ve been.

Incredible food and friendly people! It was my family’s first time there. I’ve been there but it’s been a couple of decades and it was just as I remember and this place didn’t disappoint! Absolutely fantastic food in every aspect! We loved it so much and can’t wait to come back!

We went early on a Saturday and there was not wait. The service was excellent and one of us ordered the omelette with cheese and chicken which was better than it sounds. It was quite good.
