I couldn't really enjoy my dinner here because of a potential ticket issue with our tickets for Hamilton. We were able to eat outside on their patio, which was nice . Our server was very accommodating when we told her we were going to the theatre. Part of my dinner was very good , part of it was not . My lamb chop lollipops were excellent, cooked perfectly. My chopped salad was not good , a huge salad with very little taste . Had too much iceberg lettuce and the dressing was tasteless . My husband enjoyed his filet and Brussels sprouts. Wish we had had enough time for dessert, they looked awesome. I would definitely recommend this for a pre-theatre dinner .

Recommended by our hotel (Dewitt Hotel & Suites) so we walked over and were able to get in pretty quickly. Looked at google maps and list pretty favorable and rated $$$. No, I did not use TripA for this... oops. The place was busy - reservations - yes do that. I would not say swamped/packed but a steady stream of in/out patrons. The staff was seasoned and on it. no empty glasses and bread was refilled without question. Good: * Excellent food! Really. Maybe I am easy to please but our group enjoyed everything. Filet, ribeye, cavatelli with sides of asparagus and cauliflower gratin were fantastic! Meat was tender and cuts like butter. While it says steakhouse the rosebud eight finger cavatelli was just amazing. I love pasta and this didn't disappoint. Hey! This is Chicago, am I right!?!?! With food that good we had to go for desert. And when I misspell I mean dessert...(did you cath it? I didn't but thankfully I proof-read again--- DANG you AutoSpell - you failed me....) The tiramisu did not disappoint. * Atmosphere - It was set just right to relax and have fun and enjoy the company with you. * Service - As stated earlier they were great and on it. It was stated at the table that the steak was better than at St. Elmos in Indy. I can't attest as I am not a sage of steak but that was the discussed at the table. Server suggest steak server at med-Rare I believe. I know we all enjoyed everything there. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere and experience. Cons: * A la cart. Some like it -- I don't. You share the side dishes. * Price -- yes, I am cheap but I will splurge now and then. A $$$ is hard to get a clear definition. Some consider average. So here is one range I use now: $ = Inexpensive, usually $10 and under $$ = Moderately expensive, usually between $10-$25 $$$ = Expensive, usually between $25-$45 $$$$ = Very Expensive, usually $50 and up So yes, it was $$$ as the main dish was in that range. However, you add the sides and it goes up and could almost be a $$$$. There are several dishes over $50 alone. So. food was awesome but the price was high. It was definitely a place to consider again and great for those special occasions. Enjoy.

Came in with my husband early on a Sunday evening. We were seated right away. I had a cheeseburger which our server told me was award winning, and I understand why! It was delicious. My husband got the boneless ribeye because our server said was her favorite. It was quite possibly the best steak I've ever had. Great old school ambience and Katie was fantastic! Great food, great service!

My husband and son had the biggest meatballs with their Spaghetti sauce that they had ever seen ! I had the crispy chicken and while it was indeed very tasty, it filled the entire plate and I hated having to leave half of it. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend it.

Had lunch yesterday and returned for lunch again today, this is how excellent was my experience! Very friendly and polite staff will seat you and attend to your every need with a smile, food was above commentary, i ordered fillet mignon well done with Asparagus and Brussels sprouts with cheese, each and every plate deserves a rating of 10/10. I used to go to another steakhouse which was as well great, but Rosebud raised the bar way above what i was used to, it is certainly my new destination whenever i am in town. Thanks to the wonderful staff for leaving this impression. Tamer

We were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant about a block from our hotel. The atmosphere was absolutely delightful. It is compact with comfortable wood paneling. The bar staff were very accommodating and helpful. We sat at a table beside the bar so that members of our party could see a baseball game on the one of large screen TVs above the bar. The manager, Frank, and his team were most helpful and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious from the Caesar salad to the steak and dessert. The visit to this restaurant provided a satisfying ending to a great day in Chicago. It is highly recommended.

I flew into Chicago and was staying at the Drake a steakhouse visit was high on the priority list and we selected Rosebuds on Walton. We walked in and was immediately greeted seated at a window table and were served immediately with water and rolls. We bypassed the appetizers and ordered the petite filet for my girlfriend and the aged ribeye for myself. The waitstaff was extremely attentive and the food was excellent. If you are going to treat yourself to a nice steakhouse dinner while you are in Chicago I’d say you’d enjoy the meal at Rosebuds on Walton

Had the crab cake for an appetizer, short rib with pasta for an entree along with the side of brussel sprouts with bacon. All the food was amazing. Service was superb and the old fashioned was excellent. Could not ask for a more delectable dinner while in Chicago on business. Great ambience.

A restaurant that never disappoints. Great menu and excellent staff. A must stop every time in Chicago. This location is classic in design, offering and the bar is inviting as well.

I literally just came back from having dinner .... excellent dinner, service and atmosphere.... brasserie type of feel and vibe. I had the calamari and the slow cooked ribs.... I can’t say enough of how delicious the food was. I am firm believer is you get what you pay for, as simple as that $$$. Thank you Anthony for the service.

Not the best steakhouse but good solid food daily specials are a good buy everything is large from the salads to the sides. You will not go away hungry.

So sunday late afternoon after a day of pool and sunning rooftop at my home at 990 n Lake Shore Drive, (literally less than a half a block away), we decided to order coconut shrimp, two cheeseburgers, and two desserts (banana cream pie). and since it was a short walk, we waited for the order to be packed and readied for pick up. The staff was courteous and accommodating as always, since I do frequent the establishment for dinner on a semi regular basis and am recognized by sight but not necessarily name. Unfortunately, this is where the good feelings end. Although the packaging was excellent, and very visually appealing the contents were in a few words absolutely awful, probably the worst cheeseburger I have ever had ...and I love Gibson's and I love Tavern on Rush's.I would have thought that Alex Dano's place would trump the Stefani groups' places. Boy was I wrong!!! . To think I spent $75.00 for undercooked shrimp( soggy, 2 lousy shrimp on a stick for 19 bucks, wtf????, over cooked tasteless burgers, not one shake of salt or pepper, dry overcooked, seemed to have been microwaved, the brioche buns were soggy, without eggwash and seemed to have been day old and merely reconstituted, the bacon was definitely pre-cooked as it was cold and even had coagulated "grease", the cheese was not even melted on the pre-cooked microwaved burgers, the fries were ice cold, the banana cream pie was ok, aside from overripe bananas, and chocolate chips without any pie crust, interesting, but not exceptional. My expectations were for a real steakhouse burger, charbroiled and rich and flavorable..what I received could not have been any further from that expectation.Hell, White CastIe is leaps and bounds better!!!! could have spent far less at Portillos and got a flavorful and much more satisfying meal, complete with my craving for charbroiling satisfied. Since we had already went home, I was not about to go back nor call as we were tired and extremely disappointed with the meal, to the point at which our appetites were ruined as the meal was awful and way way overpriced for the value received. We ended up throwing out the meal and writing off this establishment for take out, and for the notion of a terrific steakhouse burger. Feel free to reach out to me for more information

We had a great steak done perfectly. We shared a wedge salad which was also very tasty. We probably wouldn't get the brussel sprouts again.

This was an excellent meal in a delightful venue and we were delighted that we chose to stop here as a last minute selection. We live in the neighborhood and didn’t think this was the place for us - boy were we wrong. On the recommendation of a friend we made a reservation here. When we arrived we were promptly seated in a very busy room. The staff were professional and there was the atmosphere of an “old school” steakhouse. Great menu selection, excellent wine choices, and knowledgeable servers. We began with two generous Hendricks Martinis followed by a shared plentiful and delicious wedge salad. The mains were reasonably priced sandwiches: a brisket and a prime burger. These were both absolutely delicious, well prepared and accompanied by a nice serving of fries. We loved it and will definitely return - and soon. It quickly is becoming our neighborhood go to restaurant. You need to check this one out!

Like most other people, I can say the food is amazing. I ordered off the featured menu, and dang, were the dishes awesome. I LOVED both the roasted beet salad and the short rib bolognese. The wine list was good, but expensive. This is a fancy part of town, so I get that. No hard feelings. Even better than the food was the service. I was dining solo—which I do a lot of, and my waiter Ryan was amazing. He was attentive, caring, honest, and funny with me—just like he was with his other tables. Ryan treated me like I was his most important guest, and I saw him do that with all of his tables. Next time I’m in the Windy City, I’m definitely coming back for the food, but I’m also going to ask to sit in Ryan’s section.

Great service. Melt in your mouth pasta. Perfectly cooked tasty steaks. Neat bread basket. Delicious sides and to die for desserts. This is my favorite Chicago restaurant and that's saying a lot as I live in Chicago and have been to dozens, if not hundreds of restaurants. I can't recommend it highly enough. If you want good Italian food go here.

Chicago is known as a great town for steaks and there are many steakhouses that give the city a culinary reputation that it richly deserves. One reason why is Rosebud Steakhouse. Located at 192 East Walton Place on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, in the Streeterville neighborhood, it opened in 2000 and has earned a reputation as one of Chicago's finest steakhouses. Open from 3 to 10 Sunday through Thursday and 3 to 11 on Friday and Saturday, it serves only the finest USDA Linz Heritage Angus steaks that are aged to perfection. Prime cuts are sourced from black Angus cattle locally raised in the Midwest. In addition, Rosebud also serves such popular items as Dover Sole, tiramisu, spaghetti and meatballs and offers an extensive wine list in a large, elegant space. My wife and I started with shrimp cocktails with atomic horseradish and Caesar salads with Romaine lettuce, croutons and parmesan cheese. For our entrees, we chose 8 and 12-ounce filet mignons with bearnaise sauce, giant baked potatoes with sour cream and sauteed mushrooms and onions. Dessert? Two big slices of key lime pie. Whenever it's on the menu, it's a lock. So is Rosebud Steakhouse.

Great staff, great food and great wine. The brussel sprouts are not to be missed. If you're staying at the Millennium Knickerbocker the restaurant is stumbling distance (did I mention the wine list?)

The food was delicious and the service really good. We had just gotten to Chicago for wedding and finding this restaurant within walking distance from the hotel was a real treat.

This place is a hidden gem! Don't be fooled by all of the advertised places as the best Steakhouse in Chicago. This place has it all, charm, nostalgia and of course great food and service! Not much more you can say.

This steakhouse was close to our hotel. Recommended by concierge. It was very warm and friendly. Distinguished but cozy. We enjoyed the filet Oscar with a bottle of red wine. Our server was extremely attentive and made our experience more than enjoyable. We admired the wine cellar cleverly designed as a library with a ladder! It's beautiful, romantic, and priced reasonably for the atmosphere.

Directly across the street from the Knickerbocker Hotel and just down the street from The Drake so location wise it's fantastic. But it is cozy and clubby inside with excellent service and outstanding food. The bar is first rate. It isn't cheap but it is worth every penny you spend here and will mark it as a place you keep going back too!

Amazing ribeye! Great wine selection. Our server Katie did a great job guiding us as to what to and how much to order. Portions are huge! Great service, not stuffy like some steakhouses. Will definitely return.

We were here on Christmas Day evening and enjoyed a very festive atmosphere, excellent service and wonderful food. They sure DO know how to prepare steaks here ! Favorite side dishes (baked potato, sauteed mushrooms, spinach...) are truly generous and can easily be shared. It was our second visit to Rosebud and we were equally pleased this time.

Old style steakhouse in Streeterville. I've eaten here a few times and always had a great meal. The halibut nightly special is terrific when they have it on the menu. The food is all very high quality. The service staff couldn't be better, they're very nice, offer great suggestions on the specials, and very attentive (but not hovering). I've taken both my parents and older children there when they are in town.

Fairly convinced that’s the best steak I’ve ever had. Definitely the best Mac & Cheese I’ve ever had. Our waiter Eddie was phenomenal. Best restaurant experience in a very long time.

My friends and I chose this for a pre-show dinner. Decided on the scallops but then saw they had Lake Ontario walleye so settled on that. My friends had the scallops. We had creamed spinach (to die for) and asparagus. The food was outstanding. The only thing that kept it from getting 5 starts was the server. He didn't seem to care a lot about us. We weren't neglected but he just wasn't very friendly.

In town for a business conference and made reservations here for Tuesday evening. The waiter was excellent, very personable with great suggestions on the menu and wine list. We started with a bottle of wine and the waiter put together a custom blend of seafood for an appetizer for us. Fantastic! I had the filet myself and a couple split the 24 oz. bone in ribeye others had steaks also. All were cooked to perfection and were delicious. The sides are very large and 3 sides were plenty for 6 of us. We ended up splitting 3 deserts as we were all stuffed but they were all superb.

Great service, fantastic steak, spinach melts in your mouth. Love the decor. Can't wait to go back to Chicago and visit this place again.

Yes, it is a steakhouse and I didnt have a steak. We shared an appetizer of Maryland crab cakes, which were excellent. We also shared a side of asparagus, which were really large. I had the chicken parmesan, which was excellent. Perfectly cooked, wonderful sauce with a side of pasta. Very large portion, couldn't even get through a third of it. Very small beer options, but they have plenty of wine and mixed drink options. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Overall excellent experience.

Very disappointing experience. For a steak house right next to The Drake, and a block from the lake, I was assuming this would be a good choice for our one chicago steak house experience. I was wrong. We started off being served tepid water, followed by decent Caesar salads. We ordered the porterhouse to share, with a side of Mac n cheese and asparagus. The steak and sides arrived and the steak was overcooked, the roasted garlic heads were not roasted long enough, the asparugus had not seen a hint of seasoning, and the mac n cheese was just shells with gobs of cheese. I indicated to the waiter that the steak temp was wrong, but I didn't want to remake it. She took it back, and we ate some of the sad sides. She had them remake the entire meal, telling us that porterhouse can't be made medium while we waited, and then returned with a very charred steak. The manager came over and checked on us, and I explained my concerns, but also explained I don't want to waste this meat and will eat it. At one point, while eating, the waiter came and took our previously requested salt and pepper away. No idea why...? We order a dessert to go. Manager comped us 25% of the check. Would not recommend.

Great/amazing service. Sorbet, salad were great the dumplings were not great. Really enjoyed the service. Enjoyed the quiet setting.

I have eaten there many times both for pleasure and business. Very professional wait staff and excellent menu for selecting food from hamburgers to steaks.

My husband and I were visiting Chicago and found Rosebud Steakhouse near our hotel. We went in to make a reservation for the following night and one of the owners took our reservation. The next day we arrived and that owner seated us. He was very pleasant. Then came Thomas, our server. He was delightful. We chatted a bit and was very friendly. We noticed a large party was just clearing up and the owner and another manager I assume clearing the tables and resetting them. Wow. We were impressed that they were so hands on with these duties. The food was delicious, the staff so friendly and nice. Would definitely go back and give this place a high score.

Had friends in from out of town and took them to one of our favorite neighborhood gems. Christian was our waiter and he was, as expected good, and appropriately attentive. Our reservation was for 5:30 on a Friday evening to avoid rush hour. We ordered glasses of wine and ordered soon afterward. We started with bowls of homemade tomato and onion soups that were quite good. Dinners included: bacon wrapped scallops (which I regularly have, so I sampled one of our guest’s and it was as I anticipated!), a small filet mignon rare, a regular pork chop and my seasoned pork chop (one of my favorites w/o extra salt) both medium rare. Jake and I split a house salad which was plenty, especially when we all devoured the bread and especially the cheese cracker!! Wine list is extensive and appropriately Chicago priced...no room for deserts this time but they are always good...fresh pies are my favorite w a spot of vanilla ice cream.

Atmosphere was pleasant. Could actually hear yourself talk. Wait staff is the best and the food was awesome. Have recommended Rosebuds to everyone The hour drive each way is well worth it Kudos to Rick and Bill Rich Malenzi

Wonderful staff and service. Sad our table had a wobble the entire time and none of the staff (or manager) could fix it. Wine glasses sloshing while we cut our steaks was not ideal. Overall, delicious!

We showed up on time to our 7:30 reservation and the place was packed . I have been to the Rosebud Steak House many times but never a table for 10 on the. Weekend . Once we sat down our waitress took out drink order and the whole evening took off from there a perfect dinner. I realize we are tourist on a Saturday night, but the staff treated very well, all of the entrees , salads drinks, wine were excellent .my favorite Resturant. in Chicago. Thanks.

This is one of those restaurants that from the outside doesn't look very big until you are taken downstairs. Its also one of those places where you sit in close proximity to the other diners and can be quite loud but dont let this put you off as the food was amazing. We went on a Monday night and got the last table so it might be worth booking. Definitely worth a visit.

Fabulous! Old school ambiance… Excellent service…. Outstanding food… I had the best skirt steak ever.., The wedge salad with lardons and blue cheese was mind blowing…. Pound cake with gelato and caramel was a delightful ending…

An exceptional steak and incredible service. The portions are big as well ( for an Englishman ). My friends were really happy with their steaks as well. Will definitely return when I’m back in Chicago.

My wife and I were staying at the Drake and passed by Rosebud Steakhouse as we were returning from a Bears game. It was my first time at the Drake so I never had an occasion to be on this street before, so I had no idea this place existed. My wife decided to rest and rather than go to the bar in the hotel I walked down to Rosebud to grab a drink at about 5 PM. The place is great, with a totally old-school vibe that included Sinatra playing in the background and a large, extensive steakhouse menu. The bartender (Joe) was very friendly and by the time I finished a couple drinks the placed had filled up quite a bit. I liked the place so much that I brought my wife back for dinner. The food was amazing and the service/hospitality was just as good. I highly recommend checking this place out. It will be on my "must visit" list whenever I'm in Chicago now.

We came here for an anniversary dinner and a birthday dinner {grandson birthday). The food was outstanding. The filets were perfectly prepared, correct doneness with a tasty crust. Sea bass had spectacular seasoning, was flaky and tender. The Brussel sprouts deserve special mention. A very unique presentation. Highly recommend the triple chocolate cake and the key lime pie. The wine list is affordable and delicious. A definite repeat on our next visit to Chicago. The service was impeccable. Attentive but not intrusive. Just right.

The food was OK but the atmosphere was not what I expected. The restaurant was crowded and the tables are very close to one another. So as you can imagine the wait staff is constantly up and about racing through tables to service patrons. Waiters serving other tables were constantly bumping into me as I sat trying to enjoy my meal. It got so bad, the waiter even said “I’m constantly bumping you”, I’m sorry. It wasn’t very relaxing that’s for sure. Our meals were good, although I have to say I have eaten better filet mignons elsewhere. All in all, not worth it for the overall experience.

We had dinner here on Sunday, September 30. The Rosebud is a lovely place, however, the noise level is pretty high. I had trouble with the fact that such an upscale restaurant would have tv on at the bar, which is on the edge of the dining room. There is no separation between the bar and tables for dinner. All that being said, the beef was very good. I had a filet and my husband had the NY strip. My filet was cooked perfectly, but the bearnaise sauce ($3 extra) was a bit salty (and I like salty, so you know this was over the top). His strip steak was good, but not amazing. The mashed potatoes with bacon and cheddar were great. We passed on dessert, as we were pretty full! The service was impeccable.

We stumbled on this restaurant and noticed the brunch sign outside. I guess there is a reason everywhere else has a wait and they didn’t. The food was pricey and very average. Truly not bad but not great either. Just ho-hum. I can’t say I would seek it out again but if friends wanted to go I suppose I would go back. I guess I’d say that I would seek out some where else first and use this as last resort.

Service was attentive and prompt and the food was enjoyed by all. The steak seasoning had curry powder or turmeric which I don't like, but the beef filet was like butter. Also enjoyed were the meatball appetizer and lollipop lamb chop appetizer. Although not inexpensive, I've paid much higher prices for this quality of service and food at Mastro's..

Great location; top quality food and service. We stopped for dinner later in the evening. We opted to share a salad and several appetizers. The food was tasty and filling. While we had appetizers, the menu offers a LOT more . . . steaks, chops, seafood. Everything is good, as are the drinks and wine list. You can't go wrong here.

We had a party of 10 without reservations but it was a Monday night and they rearranged tables for us all to sit together. The service was fantastic. They kept everyone’s drinks filled, including water, kept the bread baskets full, gladly brought more butter, and seem to be just waiting for us to need something. Everyone enjoyed their food. It came out at the same time and the hot dishes were nice and hot while the salads were refreshingly cool. I ordered the salmon, which I often do at restaurants, and have not tasted a better prepared dish. The à la carte sides were enormous and definitely enough for two or three people to share. Definitely a place to try but plan on spending at least $50 per person without drinks.

My wife and I chose to spend a weekend in Chicago for our anniversary. We decided to go to restaurant that specializes in steak with a classy atmosphere. We found all that we could want at the Rosebud close to the Drake Hotel. The service was excellent and the food was terrific. One of the best NY Strips I have ever had and the desert was great. The only less than stellar item was the blue point oysters that I had as an appetizer - they were marginal. One other note - when the waiter found out it was our anniversary, he brought us two glasses of complimentary champagne. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Chicago.

The food is good. So is the original decor. But saturday they run this place like a fastfood joint - get you out as quickly as possible. E.g. they take my plate out despite my guest still eating. They bring the bill just when we started dessert etc.. So if you go - choose a quiet day, then the may serve you well

The Rosebud will not disappoint. The staff is remarkably professional, and as a result the service is exceptional. The food, particularly the steaks, are fabulous. I highly recommend.

Left with lasting impressions for a lifetime. Good was incredible with generous portions. The mouth-watering food raised the bar in flavor and selections. Bulleye on every level. Staff (amazing gentleman) accommodating above and beyond giving my 17-year-old son some steak knowledge on the various types of steaks. The true definition of fine dining, I'm my only regret is that I had no room for desert but thats on me.

We ordered ribeye and bone-in rebeye, all of which were literally burnt. We specifically informed the waiter that we want the steaks to be medium rared and "please do NOT burn our steaks as some restaurants do." DO NOT WASTE OR SPEND YOUR OWN MONEY TO POTENTIALLY GET STOMACH CANCER!

The food here is tasty, and the service very good. This is a great place to go for a special occasion. Upscale, but, whiole pricey, not overpriced. Steak well made. Lasagna was excellent. The Caprese salad had huge cheese on board. Near the Hancock Building/Magnificent Mile. IF you are in Chicago and celebnrating something, this is a great choice.

This is yet another entry in my effort to try out every steakhouse in Chicago. My wife suggested this place after reading reviews on TripAdvisor, so we made reservations on OpenTable, and did the 2 hour drive into Chicago to partake of their fare. Good choice! First off, this place is small and L O U D. Holding a conversation is a bit of a challenge. We were there for our wedding anniversary, and I was looking for steak. I ordered their 12 ounce filet, medium rare, while our server Alex asked if either of us wanted a Queen order of Prime Rib, since they were running out. My wife put in her request for one of the remaining pieces, medium rare. Alex advised us that the sides are "family style" in size, and were enough to feed at least 2, so we went with 1 baked potato (which was big enough to feed 2), and an order of sauteed spinach. For a starter, we split a Caesar Salad with ANCHOVIES! Yes, you could get ANCHOVIES here - Oh SO GOOD! Man, they tasted great with the Caesar! The steaks came out, and were properly done. My filet was easy to cut - no gristle, and my wife really enjoyed her Prime Rib. The server split the Caesar Salad for us to separate plates, and even split the Baked Potato. Be advised, the skin of the potato is salt rubbed, so you don't need to add any. We loaded it up with bacon, chives, and sour cream. It was very tasty and good. Since it was our anniversary, the restaurant provided dessert. We chose their 7 layer chocolate mousse cake, which was incredible. We could only eat part of it, so they packed up the rest to take home. Corkage on wine was average for Chicago. They did have a lot of high line (>$150) wine choices. We settled for a Justin Cabernet, which was priced at $65 for the bottle, and as always for Justin, was very smooth on the palate. Service was outstanding - very attentive - my wife left the table for a moment, and one of the staff refolded her napkin before she returned. Nice! The water glasses stayed full (and we were drinking water). Summary: Food: Excellent Service: Outstanding Noise Level: Loud We really liked having dinner here. With tip and wine, we were slightly north of $250 for a dinner for two, which at a high-line steakhouse like this, is pretty good. Give it a go. And whatever you do, when you go, MAKE A RESERVATION. Places this good warrant it, or you might not get in.

Wow what amazing food, seriously good steak. When I’m back in town promise to visit again! The ribeye was for me! Enjoy

Close to our hotel so we gave it a try. I had the lasagna & my son ordered the salmon. We were both very pleased. The service is outstanding, the food fantastic and the decor is very comfortable. I’d go back.

Our experience at this restaurant was excellent! The steaks were cooked as asked and very tasty. The look of the restaurant was good, resembling a typical steakhouse. Our waiter was excellent as were our drinks. However, as we thought it over, we paid $100 for a pound of filet and $10 for a baked potato. We paid way more than the value.

Let me start by saying that I went to this restaurant with a group of 24. It may be a different experience with a smaller group. I had the petite filet steak and asked for medium rare. It was over cooked. A friend ordered the same steak cooked rare. His was overcooked also. On the plus side, the house salads and the streamed broccoli were good. Order the chocolate mousse cake and bring a friend or two to share it with you. Delicious, but huge portion! There is also a full bar.

We went to this restaurant especially for a show on ARTE (Kitchen of the World) and were not disappointed. Everything worked out. Starting with the most important thing: the steak cooked to the point and plenty of roasted ingredients. As a starter, very fresh tasty oysters. And although actually plenty full, the Key Lime Pie was the crowning glory. Not to mention the Brussels Sprouts and Baked Mc’n Cheese. A sin worth it. Very good wine selection! Attentive unobtrusive service. Harmonious ambience. In short, a successful evening.

This was supposed to be a top-notch steak house so I expected top-notch service. Let me preface by saying the place was busy but not so busy that you can listen to your customers. Our server greeted us warmly and ended our stay with a nice goodbye - so he gets points for that - but everything in-between was probably the most shocking service I've ever had. Maybe in Chicago, they do it differently but I've worked in the hospitality business enough to know that customer service should equate across the regions - but I guess this place never got that memo. Let's list just a few of the things that happened... This was a 10-top, so I get that a larger table is a different dynamic than a 2-top, however, the server was more interested in getting the orders in his own timing instead of taking time to answer questions. He was too hurried. After taking mine, my husband's, and my son's order I lifted my hand to tell him that we three would be on one ticket - he ignored me. I verbalized it by saying, "Excuse me, we'll be on one ticket." He didn't even look at me but said out of the side of his mouth (very rudely I might add), "yeah, I'll get to that later I need to get this order all in." UM - NO. This is part of the order and when someone is paying for a meal - have the decency to spare five seconds to acknowledge them versus brushing them off and acting like they don't matter. One of us ordered a 1/2 order of asparagus because we weren't very hungry for a full order and didn't want to pay for the food we couldn't eat. He told us, "No, I'll put in a whole order for you bc someone else can help you eat it." DUDE! He's racking up the ticket - again making it all about him and telling us that our needs didn't matter. Also, my son and I ordered a fresh hand-squeezed lemonade. I'm smart enough to know that hand-squeezed means made by hand so I know it's not a simple refill. Let's say that first. Once our glasses were empty - they sat that way for over 45 minutes. All the while he's refilling all the wine and liquor as soon as my relatives could even ask for one, so it's not like he wasn't able to take care of ours. It's just that lemonade will not add a chunk of money onto the ticket. I guarantee if I'd had wine he'd have tried to top it off 5 times over. I finally tracked him down to ask for a refill and his words were - "That's not JUST a refill, honey, it's hand squeezed." He was referring that he couldn't just waltz to the bar and pour me another. Was that necessary? Shouldn't good service dictate that someone responds with - sure, I'll get you one as soon as they can make it? Finally, when the bill came - it was ALL ON ONE TICKET! When more than three of us asked him to split it up at the beginning when he was too busy taking orders to listen. We tried waving him down to ask to split it up but he walked by us three times without looking. Finally, my husband stood up with the bill in hand and walked toward him to get his attention and the guy turned his back on my husband to deliver another bill. He walked by my husband 4 separate times when he knew my husband was standing and expectantly waiting on him. Edward the server brushed by him each time without acknowledging him and trust me when I say the way my husband was trying to get his attention was hard to miss. When my husband FINALLY got him to stop to say we needed the bill split up. The response from our server?? "Oh, I didn't know because you never said anything." To top it off, he added a meal from our table that wasn't part of my ticket. I was happy to pay for another family members meal but this just goes to show how inept his focus or service was. OH MY GOSH - do not go eat here. They could care less about you - only your money and that is NO way to do business. And - here it is almost a week later and I can't even remember what my food tasted like. Good service lets food take the spotlight and sadly that was not part of this high dollar establishment. For as much money as you pay to eat here, they should cater to the customer's needs. The positives - it was my mother-in-law's birthday so they did bring her a cake which we all split. That was nice. Other than that one gesture - it was the worst experience

Ordered the tenderloin ends special. It was explained that it was a different shape for the filet mignon. Ordered it medium rare because good steakhouses usually make rare steaks blue. It had two pieces. One was medium to medium well, the other was well. Both pieces crumbled like brisket and were dry and chewy. By the time I was able to get the waiters attention, my husband had finished his meal so I did not take the offered replacement meal. Disappointed.

We had a nice meal at this restaurant across the street from our hotel. My meat was still a little tough and the Caesar salad didn't have chicken. The accompaniments were good.

There’s a reason you can’t get into Gibson’s, but tables are empty at this place. Despite the excellent service of seasoned waitstaff, the alleged “Prime” steaks are tough, lean, and difficult to slice with a sharp knife, never mind to chew and digest. Do yourself a favor, let this place close its doors. What a rip off!

I do not exaggerate when I say it is the best steakhouse in Chicago. Not even close. My Wife and I sat Table 10 on a chilly Saturday night and Frank the waiter took great care of us. We had a Martini and Manhatten which were perfect and split the Delmonico Ribeye, Oysters Rockafeller, Mashed and asparagus. A most pleasant evening and just 70 yards down from the Drake. They offer Mt. Veeder Cab which is fantastic. Key Lime Pie to end the evening. The manager comes around to check on everybody. Had the best time and not that expensive. We will be back in a month or two when next in Chicago.

Food very good. Service good. Server Was good but took a little too long to bring complete order. Prices a little excessive.

The Rosebud Steakhouse is located within walking distance of the Ritz Carlton where we were staying, and it was recommended to me by a friend. First of all, don't call and leave a message that you want a reservation. I did that and when I didn't hear anything confirming the reservation, I dropped by the restaurant personally to make sure that I did have one. I was told, "We don't ever check our messages." My advice is that you visit or speak with someone when making reservations. Our meal was delicious and well-served. My husband glanced at the total amount on the check, paid it and we left. The next morning, he looked at the receipt more closely and discovered a $10 charge for "open liquor" listed among the other charges--odd because no one at our table of 4 had any alcohol. Knowing that I hadn't been able to get anyone on the phone the previous day, and knowing that they didn't check their messages, I went to their website, asked about the charge and left my contact information. It's been over a week and I haven't received a response. I don't expect the $10 back but would like a simple apology. All that to say, "The food is great but look over your check carefully."

We used to live in the John Hancock building and go here all the time. (Pre-COVID.) We decided to revisit our old haunt, and wish we hadn't. They don't know that salt has been invented. The steak was aggressively aged and prepared with minimal flavoring, just an oily coating. The "corn off the cob" was in a bowl of oil -- not at all fresh. The asparagus was overgrown -- huge, wide, trunklike and tough -- and completely unsalted. Inedible. Perhaps if we had four stomachs like a cow, it would have been OK. The beet salad was a five-star dish, moving the overall average from 1 star to 2. Beer was moderately cold; service was mediocre. Perhaps the place has been bought out and new management are just cashing in on its reputation; but it's not worth your time or money.

the greeters and wait staff were all so professional and extended gracious greetings. Brandon was our server and quite knowledgable aboute menu and alternatives to accommodate various special requirements. The salads were large enough to share and tasty. and the steaks were so nicely seasoned and prepared totally consistent with requests.

Had a very nice dinner here. Steak was great, same for the sides. Perfect starter and the staff is really nice.

Reopened and as excellent as ever. Ribeye and filet were perfect. Linz meats were great quality. Brussel sprouts with bacon were tasty. Good luck Steve.

This week we had a very nice holiday dinner with relatives at this excellent restaurant. A great place for a nice dinner in a relaxed atmosphere. Noise levels were under control. Great location to actually have a conversation. Excellent service. Great teamwork. The food was very good. For the most part traditional. We all had something different. Pressed Chicken was original and excellent, Lasagna was traditional, Dover Sole was prepared in an old school traditional manner and lamb chops were fantastic. This is a restaurant that probably has more local residents than tourists and is worth everyones visit.

Four of us ate here and ordered the two best steaks. They were very good but they certainly weren’t memorable. The Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was very also very good but rather pricey at U$98 per bottle...

Excellent steaks well prepared, good quality sides and knowledgable friendly waiter. Interesting local beer and pricey but worth it

Visited rosebud many times over the years and never wrote a review. As the quality and standard of meat is always good think it deserves to be written once. The restaurant staff is always welcoming, steaks are great and atmosphere is friendly.

This is not for the faint of wallet. Very professional service and food top grade. Really a Chicago tradition and make sure you budget for the remained of the month. I thought the drinks were way overpriced, too much ice, not enough liquor.

Met a friend for dinner and it was as good as perfect in all honesty. The hostess was gracious. We had drinks at the bar and the order was taken within seconds of sitting down and then to dinner. The steaks, salads, side dishes were all cooked perfectly. The service was awesome. The place was lively and had a good vibe all around. I would go back in a heartbeat.

...and the food was outstanding. Both of us had filet mignon that was done exactly as we ordered it. The creamed spinach had the perfect amount of parmesan and the wine list was extensive. We started early (6 ish) and were treated well by the staff. It got busier and louder as the evening wore on, but not so bad that we couldn't hear each other talk. Definitely on my list to return.

Old fashioned atmospheric venue with dark wood & low level lighting. Excellent cocktails (Manhattan & Cosmo). Steaks were cooked to perfection. Large portions of sides which even two of us couldn’t finish. Service was faultless.

Steaks were good. Ambiance was nice. Tables are close together as usual for Chicago. Always feels like you are dining with your neighbors. Nice wine selection. You’ll have people in suits and dresses and people in casual clothes. Overall a great place to grab dinner.

We celebrated our anniversary at this restaurant. Our daughters treated us and it was a wonderful dinner. The atmosphere was great. When we arrived the hostess wished us a happy anniversary. So that was very nice. We had calamari for an appetizer and the sauce was so great. Our waiter suggested that we split the sides because they are huge. So we split our Caesar salad and baked potato. We both chose filet mignon with Bearnaise sauce. It was delicious and we had no room for dessert. What a great way to celebrate. The restaurant and the service was fabulous.

My friends and I went to dinner at Rosebud’s. Phenomenal. The service was superb. The meal was the best steak dinner I have ever had. I have eaten at many steak places in Chicago, this was the best. We had calamari as an appetizer...fantastic. One of my good friends is Greek and makes the best calamari I thought until I had theirs. We had the burrata and prosciutto salad...delicious. Then I had the petite filet for dinner with Brussel sprouts...sooo delicious. It’s a must eat in Chicago. Very close to all of the shopping on a Michigan Avenue

I was staying at a hotel accross the street and asked the front desk (there are two restaurants at the hotel) and she referred me to the Rosebud Steakhouse. She made my evening. I will admit it is an old style steakhouse and everyone in there on Sunday night had gray hair but the FOOD! I had a Ceasar Salad that came on a serving platter, had two heads of romaine, 10 anchovies, tons of fresh shaved cheese and was fantastic if you love anchovies. What is a Ceasar without anchovies? Blah!!! I also had the appetizer portion of meatballs and polenta. The meatballs were the size of baseballs and light as air in an excellent sauce. Bread basket was just ok. Needless to say the portions were so large I had lunch for the next day. I ate at the bar and the bar man, John, was great. If you are looking for large portions of good food give the place a try. It’s a half block off the Magnificent Mile and close to most of the hotels.

Rosebud steakhouse is a pleasant steakhouse in Chicago. The food is very good, the location is great, the décor is pleasant and the management and wait staff are very professional. We chose it for our Christmas day meal, which was a mistake as it is not good for children, but that was our mistake.

A colleague and I from work went to Rosebud's for dinner and we both said the same thing. That was one of the Best Steaks I had eaten in a long time. I had the 12 oz. Filet and it was cooked perfectly. My entire meal was excellent, with great service, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Good steakhouse north of the loop. Waitstaff is excellent but the steak was not that good. They allow 1/2 orders on side dishes if you are dining alone, which is great. Tremendous hustle and shuffle of waitstaff and other staff running around the room. But generally quiet environment. OK meal but not a place to go back to.

The food was excellent and our waiter Victor was both friendly and on point. Both him and his fellow staff members kept our drinks coming and our table cleared. The restaurant was very clean and had an excellent atmosphere..

Decor, service, cocktails and food were all excellent. Staff even replaced dish ordered by mistake. Never seen elsewhere in this category.

Very disappointed with Rosebud Steakhouse, maybe I was expecting a different kind of experience. It had a couple features that were relatable lots of wood, dim lighting and a nice selection of meat. Where this fell short was the execution, service was mediocre, water glass sat empty dirty dishes not cleared and a complaint about my steak was shrugged off. I ordered a Delmonico medium rare, it arrived and was cooked perfectly. But the steak had a ribbon of silver skin grizzle running through half of it. When the waiter finally came around and asked how our food was I mentioned the grizzle which I had ate around and had off to the side of the plate. His comment is Delmonico is a fatty cut, I told him I was aware and that's why I ordered it, but this was not fat but grizzle a knife wouldn't even cut. He did offer to take it back but I declined since I had already ate about half the steak. I understand this happens and no cut of meat is perfect, but past experiences at high end restaurants would generate a manager at least stopping by the table to try and make it right by offering a refill of wine or a dessert. Which I would of declined but the gesture and concern for the customer experience would have been appreciated.

In staying at the Drake, we arrived with a craving for French Onion soup and the Concierge suggested the Rosebud. GREAT suggestion and delicious lunch. We had the soup and split the Prime rib sandwich au juice which was perfect on a pretzel roll. We had a nice Cab, and Rose then shared an espresso at the end! The service was Perfect! Both the Waiter, Frank and Bus Server or Junior waiter were great. A must visit in Chi Town.

Annual Christmas Dinner and Senad took great care of us. The excellent manager and hostess gave us Table 30 which is on the window to Walton Avenue. The place was hoppin but they dont have the long waits with the door open and cold draft coming in anymore which is great. For dinner: after cocktails, which were excellent, wife and I shared a bone in Ribeye ($65); one order of 10 oz filet with shrimp scampi on it and a 8 oz filet. The chopped salad for 4 was served family style which was neat. Creamed spinach was great, as always. 1 Corkage fee of $30 was applied. (I have seen it comped for a bigger tip but whatever). Great tradition and easy to walk back to the Drake after dinner. Great table, great waiter, great night.

I really wanted a steak , but it was late. Tge smallest steak offered was 8 ounces, so I went with the meatballs. I verified it was an italian restaurant too-so meatballs on polenta should be easy. Maybe too easy. There was a large party table, myself, and 3 at the bar. Which doesnt explain why they were too busy to heat up the frozen meatballs! The waitor came back about an hour later with the check. Never noticing or commenting that I had less than 1/2 of one meatball, but 2 baskets of bread! Soon after the check arrived a man came t ok clear. He tried to take the bread! When I pleaded with him to leave them, he took my plate with 1/2 eated bread! The party left and it was me and those at the bar. It turns out they were employees, with filthy mouthd, who complained about the fat female who comes to happy hour everyday and sits by the fruit-so the take turns moving the fruit to get her to go away! Next time Ill go to a bakery for steak.

This was about my third or fourth dinner here while visiting from out of town. The steaks are fabulous, the wine list is fairly extensive, and the wait staff is remarkably professional. This time, we were faced with a concert deadline, and out waiter, Eddie, was fantastic in getting us in and out of there

We were greeted by either the owner or the GM (his picture hangs in the reception area) and he took excellent care of us, finding us an outdoor table (it was a warm night) and making sure we had a really attentive, enthusiastic waiter. We had a great salad that was split creatively by the waiter and just a couple of burgers, perhaps one of the more tasty burgers we've enjoyed. And large! The place was very busy attesting to its quality and we were glad we were referred by the bell staff at the Drake hotel, where we couldn't get in to their late-night bar/grill. This was much quieter and we'll be back!

The event was supposed to be a celebration of Mother's Day. I got my reservation from Open Table. The only thing I saw on Open Table was that the restaurant was affiliated with the other restaurants in the Rosebud family of Restaurants. Would not have gone there otherwise. In addition, no parking, valet service was not open and it was not noted anywhere, so I sat for 30 minutes waiting. Mashed potatoes and fries were excellent. Steak was adequate and overpriced for taste and presentation. For what was intended to be celebratory was instead an exercise in frustration in being in a location that was not as represented in any way, and where the food was adequate for the price and reputation that the restaurant supposedly had. Will never go back again. Chicago has many more superlative restaurants that I will be able to visit with a reputation that will meet the hype and expectations.

You can’t beat any of the dishes here ! The servers are great , the food is top notch and the location is perfect !

We went today to Rosebud for dinner and everything was amazing. The skirt steak was very good, the ribs were nice, we also asked for a very nice lobster bisque and a house salad. They serve a very robust amount of food, so you won't be hungry. Prices are a little high. Attending was perfect.

Ok food was good but not with the added price. I understand alacart but my alacart sides were as much as the steak. Very loud inside. Server was hurrying us with our wine and not allowing us to enjoy spending over $60 for our red.

I can’t say enough amazing things about this restaurant! We dined in on Christmas Day! The food was great, the service was awesome, and the overall experience was wonderful! I can’t wait to return!!

We had an excellent meal here, just 900 feet from the Drake Hotel where we were staying. It is a smaller steak house so it had a very friendly and cosy feel. Attentive wait staff, delicious steak, wonderful cocktails...don't overlook this place.

When we came we asked the waiter to explaine one dish - 8 finger pasta, with very specific question - is it spicy? Waiter said - no, so my wife ordered it. My daughter orderd 8 oz fillet mignon well done, and I took salmon... Pasta was so spicy that my wife couldn't eat it so we switched, but neither could I eat that pasta so we left it. Salmon was let's say overbaked, but overall OK. Fillet mignon was not well done, it was very, very, very well done, dry and black, instead of makaroni with parmesan as a side dish, she got mash potato... Drinks we ordered were not comming but we saw them waiting on a bar. After I asked waiter (ten minutes after we spotted drink on the bar), he brought beer for my wife which was not fresh anymore, my wine was ok, but he forgot coke for my daughter, so I had to call him again. He appologized, and just for info restaurant was less than half full. Bill was 141 usd for 1 dry fillet, wrong side dish, uneatable pasta (full portion left), and semi OK salmon, 2 beers, glass of wine and coke. Paid, no tip and never again!!!

Nice steakhouse interior w/ both couple and large group dining. Selected here as < one block from my hotel, the Drake, and the temp was in the teens while Chicago was living up to its nickname. Good martini, good service. My server mysteriously disappeared mid meal for the remainder of the evening, and while this wasn't explained to me, two others provided more than adequate cover. I was less impressed w/ their food. I ordered a special, the "drop steak," which was explained to be the center cut of a ribeye. I ordered this medium rare, but the steak was so thin each bite was charred and what wasn't burned was chewy. In other words, the cut was just too thin. The mashed included with the special was barely warm, not enough to even melt the herbed butter I'd ordered with the steak. General disappointment considering all the world class beef in this city.

My 2 friends and I enjoyed a great meal at the Rosebud. All of our tastes vary and the Rosebud had a great selection for all of us. We all shared the crisp calamari for starters and for entrees there was Brick Roasted Chicken, Seared Scallops, and the 15oz New York Strip along with health portions of side dishes and salads. All plates were empty and we were all extremely satisfied. This is a great restaurant and I along with my friends, highly recommend it!

My wife and I are visiting Chicago and read the many reviews of the Rosebud restaurants. The Rosebud steakhouse was near our hotel so we made reservations for a Sunday night dinner. The staff was welcoming and professional from the entrance until we left. Our waiter was very helpful in selecting our wine and explaining the menu. The sides are large but can be served in a smaller portion. Our steak wad perfect. Sides also great. Highly recommend for special occasions as atmosphere is very supportive.

Food was magnificent. Sat at the bar and had dinner the steak was prepared perfectly and my bartender was talkative and helpful. Went to Mortons the day before but the steak here was better. If you have a chance stop by!

We dined here a few weeks ago and it's a lovely restaurant with a really cute 1920's feel to it, a little like The Ivy in London. We had pre-booked our table which I think would be a good idea for here as it was busy when we arrived. The waiter sat and served us straight away which I felt quite rushed. We both had the steak but it wasn't to the standard I was expecting given the price of the menu, both were full of fat and very tough to chew. Nice restaurant but they do need to review what steaks they are serving. I've had better at a beefeater in the UK.

Stopped in with a coworker while in town staying around the corner. Service is A-1 and takes you back to a time when the staff was proud and classy. Started with the French Onion soup which was flavorful and delicious. Then, moved on to Filet with shared sides (feeds about 3 each) of mushrooms and also Brussels Sprouts. Pair with a couple beers and a bottle of decent wine. Total bill was about $300...but, so worth it.

What a great experience, wow, wow , the dining was first rate. The food was outstanding and our waiter Chris from Greece what a total gentleman. He made the experience so enjoyable, that he was able to make us so happy. I would swear that he most have been the owner because ,the way he took ownership, just made the experience superb. He was like a maestro conductor leading all the other servers and his presence, always at the right time was just perfect. He knew that I love to eat and he encouraged me to eat the meat around the bones of the ribeye cowboy cut and the way he explained the difference in the steaks was delightful. He made me happy, I was not about to waste any of that ribeye. It was delicious. We also ordered the dumplings and tiramisu, we were there on Tuesday night 9/26/2023 with my beautiful wife. we both enjoyed it immensely because of the outstanding service and great food. The manager was also very nice and seemed proud of his staff. He knew we were in great hands. The Knickerbocker Hotel recommended your establishment and we will make sure to stay with them again because they are also great and have you down the street. Kudos to you and The City of Chicago for making it possible.

We are in Chicago for a few days for my wife's birthday staying at The Drake. We walked past Rosebud and thought we would give it a try. We were very happy with the result. Food was outstanding. I had the Dover Sole and my wife had Scallops both perfectly cooked. A Russian River Chard was a good compliment to our meal. Frank took care of us and he was terrific. The restaurant is a bit noisy but a great ambiance. We highly recommend.

This was our second time at Rosebud and I am sorry I didn't submit a review the first time. The place is run by total pro's and everything is done exactly the way it should be. Waiters are into providing a great experience and they get to serve great food. Our waiter, Eddy, was fantastic. With help from cocktails, to appetizers and entrées he let us know what to expect at every step. Just can't say enough. Brought my Mom (89) and she says she doesn't want to eat anyplace else in Chicago. It's not cheap but worth every penny.

THe food was excellent as was the service. My wife ordered the Scottish salmon and I ordered a medium well tenderloin. The side orderswere enough for two people. Would certainly eat there again. Worth the price.

My wife and I first time to Chicago and we had dinner at the Rosebud. The staff's service was excellent and the food was top-notch. Joe, the manager checked in on us and personally thanked us for coming. Joe and his team did an excellent job and if you want to have over The top service and excellent food while in Chicago I definitely recommend this place.

Dinner with family and friends who wanted a great dinner. We all ordered different dinners and they were all outstanding. the steaks are BIG ,well prepared and the sides were equally outstanding. One of us had halibut and the fish was cooked to perfection. The dessert was their chocolate cake , one piece was enough for the table of four and then some. The wait service was professional and very helpful . We loved it!!

Came here with a group for business meal. The steak and appetizers were very, very average for the prices. The service was excellent and the drinks were well made.

Two steaks ordered medium rare served well-done. Charred black. Come on, Rosebud. Temp the steaks before you serve them. Your customers are there to enjoy the experience, not to ensure it. Get the steaks right.

We are at rosebud for dinner after a show. Great meal. I Had steak, my wife has chicken parmesan. We had brussel sprouts side and sausage and peppers appetizer. Restaurant is very tasteful and classy but not stiff or stuffy. Food was well prepared. Server was attentive and friendly. This was my second time there and I will keep coming back.

I found this steakhouse while searching for steakhouses in Chicago. My meal consisted of the 12 oz filet mignon, brandy peppercorn sauce, jalapeno hash browns and key lime pie to finish. Everything was really good. My server was knowledgeable on the cuts. The only negative thing I could say is I wanted to try more sides but given the portion size I didn’t need to. Great meal overall. I would visit again

Rosebud Steakhouse has been on Walton forever, and I hadn’t been back in a while, the service was outstanding as it should be. The lobster bisque was the best I ever ate, was very happy I ordered the bowl instead of the cup. It was delicious. Petit fillet was excellent, as you would expect in any Chicago steakhouse. Sides were marvelous: 1) mushrooms and onions , 2) broccoli. Really delicious. My wife had Salmon teriyaki and said it was delicious also. Her beet salad appetizer was also very good. Got out in plenty of time to get to the theater in time. Outstanding meal. It's Chicago - expect to spend a lot of money.😎👍

We were staying across the street at the Knickerbocker & their wonderful concierge recommended happy hour (for drinks & light/reasonable dinner) at Rosebud. Robbie the bartender was great - best part of the evening. Drinks good (I only had beer), but appetizer offerings were very good! We had calimari, fish tacos, popcorn shrimp, & something else. All reasonable $ (keep in mind, this isn’t Applebys), very tasty, and great company in Robbie. Among our party of three, everyone left full, happy & entertained. And this was in spite of my initially being put off because we had to move from one end of the bar to the other, because one of their “regulars” walked in & he apparently always gets a seat we were occupying. Bartender Robbie was apologetic & diplomatic, & I went from being perturbed to entertained. All in all, a great happy hour experience.

Just love this "neighborhood" place in the middle downtown Chicago. Joe, the manager, always makes sure his guests are enjoying their experience and is a pleasure to talk to. Jeff, behind the bar, our favorite place to sit, talked us into ordering something different as we tend to order the same items because we know they're always good. We're glad we followed his advice, the Cheeseburger (ordered rare) was absolutely delicious and served with piping hot fries. The Eight Finger Cavatelli was decadent and the type of dish you dream about long after you've left. Dessert was a light as air pastry with whipped cream and berries - WOW! Looking forward to going back and seeing Luis, another great server, and the rest of the team.

What a Place, called from train made reservation had to re schedule twice and still arrived early they were as pleasant as can be and seated us at the very next table. Now the experience began. The brought our drinks my wife love's her margaritas said this is the best she ever tasted. The Shrimp Cocktail was huge and crisp shrimp. The main meal I had the the house ribeye MR cooked perfect melted in my mouth juicy good the flavor perfect. I have eaten at alot of steak houses in 67 years far the best, I had to pick up the bone and eat it clean. The side mushrooms and onions is a must not limp but cooked and crispy. My wife who is not a big eater got the dry aged special cleaned her whole plate. The desert I have know idea what it was but perfect end to probably my best meal. Norman

We had a wonderful dinner here before we headed to the theater to see Hamilton. It was extremely convenient that we were staying across the street at the Residence Inn. The food was perfectly done. The filet was great and there was a choice of 3 sauces, one of which was a type of salsa that was gluten-free which was perfect for me. The sides you order are plentiful enough to share with several people

Impecible to the last detail. Meals are remarkable, service and atmosphere, outstanding. Was recommended and I also recommend.

were staying at a close by hotel so wanted a convenient restaurant. It was a Friday night, they were busy yet we got a nice table. Service was very good & everything we ate was well prepared. There are certainly more expensive & "fancier" places however this place is "solid". Felt well taken care of.

Just had a wonderful meal ! I had the Greek salad with chicken my friend had a steak with two sides potatoes and corn. Everything was fabulous. The service was amazing. I highly recommend this place.

I cannot give the restaurant an excellent rating because it was so hard to hear inside. I almost had to shout at my husband next to me. I will say the food was very good. They have an awesome bread basket. Try the sugar raisin bread. We started with a mozzarella caprese which was tasty. I had the salmon picatta. I had never had this dish before and I enjoyed every bite. It was served over sauteed spinach. My husband had the filet which was cooked the way he like it, easy to cut, and tasted good. We also had a side of the mashed potatoes which were served in a small cast iron skillet. The potatoes had a golden top and were delicious. We took the mason jar key lime pie back to our hotel room. It was the least favorite part of my meal. Maybe it worked better in the mason jar, but there was little crust and a layer of cream that did not seem to go. Overall, the food was very good.

We shared filet, lobster, cheddar bacon mashed potato's, several kinds of cakes for desert, and all were wonderful. Lobster biesqe soup was sent back, not good.

We have dined here before and always love returning. The wait staff and the food are always impeccable. We ordered the DoverSole which was deboned at tableside and the blackened salmon. Despite the fact that this is a steakhouse the menu is quite extensive and the seafood is always wonderful. And hats off to our waiter, Tom who was just superb.

Rude waiter who seemed annoyed by everything and we heard making snarky comments to other tables around us, too. He would fly by our table too quickly for us to ask anything and, when he brought our check, I told him we had a local hotel discount, and he gave us a huge attitude about it, saying, "You need to tell me that before." I told him he didn't give me the opportunity before he brought the check, and he snapped back, "Because I'm flying around here." Maybe hire more staff if you can't handle the tables? Don't take it out on your patrons if you're going to charge those prices. We also received a cold welcome upon entering, too. They seemed annoyed that we didn't have a reservation on a Tuesday night. Very disappointing for a business dinner. Service ruined the visit.

Stopped in just to grab some dinner at the bar after traveling all day into Chicago and ended up meeting other solo diners that night, which made for great conversation for the evening as well as the interaction with the knowledgeable bar staff. The atmosphere just makes you feel welcomed and accepted. Their wine list was exquisite, and the menu contained a wonderful spread of salads, soups, nightly specials, and of course steak. I was dead set in having a steak until I heard about their weekly Friday dinner special which was Lobster fra diavolo. Very VERY good and filling! Coupled with the Chianti I ordered, “dinner for one” ended up being interactive, delicious, and welcoming.

Right across from my hotel. Food, service and ambiance were all excellent. Yes it is pricey but no more than other good steakhouses. Enjoyed the Delmonico. Tend and done as requested. Huge serving of mushrooms And onions. Ordered spumoni for desert. Was served as I have never had it. Large portion in chocolate shell (two halves) with fresh whipped cream and berries. Delicious. Way too much for one. Server was attentive and pleasant.

Dropped in since it was conveniently right next to my hotel. Quickly seated, though the table wobbled, and even after the waiter noticed, it was never fixed. Great french onion soup and grilled veggies, but the scallops were a bit disappointing. Sitting on a bed of unrecognizable "stuff", they were well-cooked but bland. I'd stick to the steaks, supposedly their forte. Nice room, but the ambient noise drowned out the background music, except for the bass, so all you could hear was the thump, thump of some pop tune, but no melody; annoying after a while. Baseball on the TV at the bar, and casual attire is fine.

Really enjoyed my Dinner last week - orderd the Filet Mignon and it was excellent - nice atmosphere and great service - will definitely go back.

We stayed at the Drake this weekend, and loved our meals from the Rosebud! We carried out dinner Friday and Saturday nights to eat in our Gold Coast suite. It was wonderfully convenient to order food for pick up and walk over to get it just 30 minutes later. *Highly recommend* the burrata salad special, the giant baked potato (which comes with an amazingly tastly oil and shredded parsely sauce), the broiled sea bass and the fillet.

We arrived late after traveling from California with my granddaughter. They welcomed us all with open arms. Their personal attention took the travel stress out of the day. The food was quite good and the steaks were delicious.

Restaurant was nice and service was great. The food was not to my liking but I think it should be given a chance. We were seated quickly and served quickly. No problems with wait staff, they were very accommodating.

I booked a table for 5 on a busy Saturday night at Rosebud, not Rosebud Steakhouse. The Maitre D took care of me and found a table for us after some bit of cajoling. Hostess/Receptionist could care less and wanted to put me and my party in a cab for Rosebud. Got our table and it was my mistake, not theirs. All of us had the bone in ribeye, salad and a bunch of sides. I only suffered embarrassment and a bill for $400. They found a table for me in a crunch. Thanks to the management staff for finding a table for me.

We always have dinner here as soon as we arrive in Chicago. The steaks are perfect as well as the side dishes. Oh and their sister restaurant Carmine’s on Rush Street is a favorite for Italian dishes. You can dine in or out as they both have heaters.

We dined here very early on Friday night. Despite the issues with the pandemic we felt very safe inside. Our dinners were exceptional starting with glorious salted and warm Parker house rolls and perfect Maker’s Mark Manhattan. I asked to have my wedge salad chopped and tossed which was delicious followed by a petite fillet medium rare. The steaks are aged to perfection. We will return to sample some of the other menu selections. I highly recommend.

This is a small restaurant with a good reputation for steaks, but everything on the menu is very good. The ambiance is that of a local spot, a favorite of those who live in the surrounding area. There are a few tables located outside in front of the restaurant and if the weather is good, dining here is wonderful.

Had dinner here on a Tuesday in October, 5:30pm. I enjoyed crab cakes and sea bass along with brussels sprout. All were great. A pricey establishment.

Service was wonderful, they let us sit and talk for 2 hours until closing (it was not a busy night). We got the Petit Filet steak, which had a nice crust and was quite tasty. I really liked the Brussel Sprouts side dish, and the BLT sliders were unusual and good. It was also an easy walk from our hotel room.

I called weeks in advance and ask for a table near the window I get there and are told they are all taken when two of them were empty No problem, but I get a table where there is a draft from the incoming customers Next the waiter brings the food in the wrong order I order Halibut a special. It’s dried out and tough to cut . It was $54 Just really bad all around They can say it was really busy, but so is Gibson’s and Hugos . You would never get a bad meal and service like this at those restaurants It was good ten years ago but not now STAY AWAY.

We would have enjoyed it more if people were not screaming. Friday night is not a good night for a quiet dinner at this place. Several birthday celebrations with a lot of drinking going on concurrently. No one (waitstaff, patrons) wore a mask and the tables were quite close to each other. The service was uneven. Lots of staff running around but not always giving actual service to the patrons. Food was very good but the ambiance was not. we just moved to the neighborhood and will try it again.

Had dinner here with business partners. Great ambience, not to noisy. Great and friendly service. Everything was cooked and served to perfection. This was my first visit to Rosebud, but certainly not the last.

Everything was lovely. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. We tried everything from the Lobster Escargot to the tomahawk and filet and the fish special! The portions are generous! Wonderful experience- I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good steakhouse.

A friend recommended this restaurant. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised. He had the lasagna and I had a filet with lobster tail. We shared the tots. As appetizer he had French onion soup (so good) and I had cocktail shrimp(they were as large as my head). All of the food was amazing, but I would skip the tots and try one of the other sides next time. The filet was cooked perfectly and to be honest, I didn’t finish all of my food! It was a wonderful meal in a nice atmosphere. No complaints.

Chanced upon this place as it was near to my hotel. Booked a table and it was balmy enough to sit outside on the street. Steak was cooked to perfection and salad was pretty good too. Well worthwhile for a meal

This is by no means a gourmet or top notch restaurant. It does deliver tasty comfort food including steaks, pasta and chicken dishes with excellent service in pleasant surroundings. Drinks are pretty decent as well.

We arrived in Chicago quite late and needed to find somewhere for an late dinner and didn’t fancy the limited menu in the hotel. This was just down the road so as to speak and it had a good menu, we’re not big eaters so we did find ( good portions )something each we liked. A cosy comfortable restaurant with good friendly service and not too expensive either, recommended if you’re in the area.

AN amazing dinner with my husband for our 20th anniversary. The sea bass was out of this world. My husband had the aged steak and loved it as well.. Our waiter, Michael, was super friendly, informational, and gave us amazing service. I loved the atmosphere.

I recently went to Chicago on business and because it was cold, I did not want to walk far. What a warm and well serviced steakhouse. I had the pork cop and sprouts whcih were both great. Great service and a great cocktail too.

Terrible service and miserable food for a crazy overprice! Could not fry steaks and was thrown out 15 min after serving of No. 2 miserable fried beef.

Had a great evening. The food was excellent the steaks outstanding. Our server Jay was very knowledgeable and made out visit memorable. We’ll be back.

Have been to this restaurant several times and have always been very pleased, but not this time. Ordered wedge salad, which was not that great. Some of the lettuce was brown, dressing skimpy. Also ordered Linguine with White clam sauce which I order frequently at other restaurants. This was very dry and not anything like I’ve ever had. did not like it at all. Service was good

My husband and I along with another couple chose the Rosebud for its close proximity to our hotel....plus we wanted a good steak. We were not disappointed. The wait staff (Frank) was excellent, he took care of us like family! The food and drinks were excellent.

Had to be in this part of town on business and decided to stop in. A little on the expensive side for lunch, but worth it in the end. Good food, great service, but we were here between lunch and dinner.

Food is ok. Too much noise. For 400 USD for two we would have appreciated a smile from the waiter. Clearly they are a little short of people in spite of the room being not full with 1/3 of empty tables. Ghallager in NYC immensely better.

Had early dinner , shared sausage with peppers ( was rather greasy and sloppy presented ) ; main course meat dish was average for the price and the mashed potatoes were ruined with an overload of molten factory cheese making it a very heavy and unsavory overload to the meal ... We paid a lot for a heavy meal which would more suit a highway-diner and not fitting the "poohpooh" atmosphere the waiters try to create !

Have been here before--always consistent. Waiter however wasn't so great. When he brought our wine he picked up my wine glass, pulled a napkin out of his trouser pocket and proceeded to "polish" my wine glass apologizing for the haziness of the glass. It didn't bother me so much until I saw him use the same napkin on the seat of the chair at the adjoining table using it to brush off food droppings left from person that had just left. Made me wonder what he did with it previous to "polishing" my glass. He was also too "salesman"-ish like a car dealer or insurance broker..probably would not go back..but great steak and fries for sure and good deal on wine.

Great atmosphere, nice reception and enjoyable experience, the filets were just OK and so was the original cut ribeye.

We had reservations for four people at 5:30 on a Saturday night. So glad we chose this time because it quickly got very busy. There were many waiters in the dining room. The room started to fill but we were never neglected. Two different managers came to our table and asked how our dinner was. When we left, they thanked us for coming. We were so impressed. Two of us had filets and 2 had prime rib. Two of us shared the cauliflower au gratin. Many of the sides are shareable. One person ordered the carrot cake for dessert. The waiter brought us each a plate. The carrot cake was a quarter of a whole cake. The entire dinner was wonderful.

Went to Rosebud for dinner and was blown away with the food, wine, cocktails and service. The steak was mouth watering and finished with a delicious key lime pie. The service was great from the moment we walked in, and Eddie (our waiter) was amazing. Thoroughly recommend to anyone who visits the Chicago area.
Traditional steakhouse!
We found the rosebud to be a very traditional and excellent steakhouse. We weren’t very hungry so instead of trying to steak we tried the whitefish and the lamb lollipops. Both were very good. My wife was dealing with today food restriction diet. They did a very nice job of accommodating. Service was excellent.
