You can always count on having really good service and delicious food at this restaurant. The options are simple but always served with flair. I think the tuna tartare is excellent as is the seared scallops. The service is super friendly I would say casual professional. Be sure to reserve in advance. Ask for a window seat if it’s available. The views are so nice.

Hostess did not have our reservation though I showed her the email confirmation on my phone. Were seated anyway, but one overworked server was not able to bring us more than water for the longest time....we finally gave up and went to a neighboring place for a good meal and good service. Will not try Rouge again.

At 9:00 on a Wed. night, I don't expected to be overwhelmed by drunks at a high-end bar intended for adults who know how to behave. Sadly, that was not the case here. And the drunks were friends of the bartender, who spent much too much time talking to them and encouraging their inappropriate behavior.

Had dinner there on a Thursday night and the place was full. Tables outside and inside. The semi circular bar inside has a great ambiance and offers great choice of drinks. The food is very good, not a big menu but you can find anything from hamburgers to branzino. Both are very good by the way. You may to wait a bit but it is worth it.

The food was very good accompanied by excellent service. A most pleasant experience dining with a scenic view of Rittenhouse Square.

We have been a few times, classy, but casual. Either for a meal or drink/appetizers. Just love it! Especially when the weather is nice as you can sit outside or in with the windows open.

Just had an absolutely amazing lunch at Rouge. The staff was fantastic, the coffee was amazing and the drinks were spectacular. I had the Asparagus soup and the Burrata Salad which was divine. My spouse had the tuna tartar which he also said was amazing. We like it so much we plan to go back before we leave.

Excellent in midst of busy people watching Rittenhouse Square. Came for the festival today and scoped out this place for a bite. There was a 30 minute wait for outside table but inside we were seated right away at the corner table as you people watch as they go by. Music is mix from uh hum.. My generation while the younger set surround a very cool circular bar with scalloped edge counter milling and socializing. My husband and daughter enjoyed the drinks and we had the west coast oysters, chilled right and sweet. The burger was cooked just the way we liked it on brioche bun with terrific truffle fries so so good. Also had the truffle scramble, loaded with shiitake sliced mushrooms and goat cheese cream cheese, nice. The tuna tartar was also delicious. Service was right on, Brittany was great, nice, helpful, friendly. Great for lunch, brunch, day break escape. Pretty decor as well.

We came here on a Monday afternoon for lunch. The interior is very nice. We were seated promptly. We waited forever for our server, Abby, to arrive. The place is definitely understaffed. We ordered Sauvignon Blanc to start and the mussels. The wine was delicious. The mussels arrived and we asked for two small plates, one for each of us. We waited but they never arrived. We asked two more times and they finally got to the table. We were almost done with the mussels at that point. My husband ordered the Rouge burger ($20.00) done medium. I ordered the fried eggplant panini. The burger came out medium rare. My fried eggplant was actually grilled, not fried. The panini was not very good at all. Very little filling and a lot of bread. For $18.00 I wanted more. It came out of the kitchen warm, almost cold. The fries were good. Abby, our server, was very nice. It took forever to get plates and the bottle of wine we ordered. Also, forever to get the check. I understand why Parc has a half hour wait and we just walked into Rouge. Also, the person cleaning the tables cleaned the table off next to us. She knocked a piece of bread on the floor. She went to retrieve the bread and used the cleaning cloth as a buffer between the floor and her hand. So the cleaning cloth absorbed all of the germs from the floor. She went on to clean additional tables with the same cloth.

This place was really good. The atmosphere was so inviting and the people were also really nice. The food was excellent and the portions were huge. It is a must go to when in Philly. Tip, need to make a reservation, not easy to get into.

I can recommend the crab Benedict and boozy grapefruit without hesitation! I had a relaxing breakfast/brunch with outdoor seating. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. You can't been the ambiance overlooking Rittenhouse Square on a peaceful Sunday morning. Great experience!

I was here recently but just for a drink outside on a beautiful day. I have eaten here before but that was a while back. I remember the food to be good. This review is about a fantastic spot to sit and watch the citizens of Philadelphia. During off hours there nothing better.

Great location, great atmosphere but service very slow, food was lukewarm and the price is too high for the quality. I had great expectations since they are the neighbors of PARC. But no.

Walking about, when hunger struck by Rittenhouse Square. Stopped at the Rouge and got the last open table. Basic bar food served in a nice setting by a professional staff. Will explore other restaurants in the area.

Dinner for 1 was spectacular!! Very efficient service and plenty to chose from in the menu. The ambiance is so nice that it did not matter that I went alone - great bar area, wonderful indoor seating and even better patio sitting facing the park.

We stopped in for lunch and couldn't get an outside table so we sat inside at the bar. Very nice atmosphere. I got the gazpacho soup and it was delicious and we had the burger which was fantastic.

Way over priced..Had better hamburger at 5 guys..Good service..BUT you can see it is not a highly rated restaurant in Philly..Good atmosphere..Give me a yes if it helps..

We used to come here when we lived on the East Coast so we returned for nostalgic reasons for dinner. It is a very small crowded place with a bar that takes up much of the space and outdoor seating. Views of the park are nice. Service was very good (especially the hostess). The food was nice but not special. The noise between the music, the bar, the other customers and the people sitting outside was extremely loud. A bar atmosphere. We had a nice seat indoors right by the open window but the guests outside were loud and distracting. This place is more for those who are single and ready to mingle than for a family trying to have a nice meal in a cosy place. A good friend of mine recently came here for lunch and told me that after she paid her bill she used the bathroom. It is right next to the waitress station. She heard her waitress complain about her tip (which was a bit over 15%). Heads up to the staff-- people can hear you in the bathroom.

Recommended by hotel concierge. The place was fantastic! My kind of place. Must try when in the area. Loved the brunch! We sat at the bar and the bartender was the best. Will definitely return.

a great casual place to have bruncn and the view of all the activity in Rittenhouse Square adds to the ambiance.Don"t forget to have the Belgian Waffles with ice cream as a dessert.

Rouge was suggested by several locals, as a place to enjoy a glass of wine, take in the view of Rittenhouse Park, and bask in the spring sun. Situated just off the busy Walnut St. shopping corridor, their outdoor patio features a classic French bistro vibe and great people watching!

Had a Rouge burger with fries. Very good and tasty. Service left a bit to be desired and it appears the waitress was too thinly spread to promptly attend to all the tables she served. I will certainly go back. Thanks guys.

Great service and food. Drinks were nice , good price. The location is perfect , is near Rittenhouse square … also lots of options for shopping

Ate lunch here with 3 other couples on a busy day. We had to wait about a half hour for our drinks while we could see them sitting at the end of the bar. Then the waitress brought 5 pieces of bread for 8 people. I enjoyed my seared scallops with cauliflower cream sauce. Also extremely noisy like too many restaurants today. Would not rush back with so many other choices nearby.

It's really sad for me because Rouge used to be one of my favorite places. This was before I knew of Yelp so I never reviewed. After my last visit, however, I was left with my blood boiling and vouching to leave a "fair" review. The only reason this review is getting 3 stars is because I added a star for the atmosphere. I still love the intimacy, darkness and comfort Rouge offers. Sitting outside to people-watch is great as well, if you can get a table. Inside, you will find some interesting characters; from people with money to punks with mohawks. I was here recently with three other people for a late bite / drink. Our waitress was friendly. She was prompt with the drinks, probably because it was so empty. I ordered a pomegranate margarita and it was great. My husband ordered a Moscow Mule and to my surprise, it was not served in a copper mug as supposed to. Considering the price I would imagine that it should be. We were given a warning that the kitchen was closing down in five minutes and we proceeded to quickly order. We got sliders and an order of fries to share. The sliders were completely and utterly overcooked to well done and the cheese was dry and crusty. It seemed as though it melted on top of the burger at some point but then hardened back up. The fries were just awful. Basically we got the fries at the end of the basket; some were long but mostly many tiny broken up pieces that were crusty and old. Most of the long fries were extremely greasy and cold. This food situation was completely unacceptable in my book! I know we came in late, but I would have rather been turned away for food service vs. given someone elses old order. Not cool Rouge, not cool. I could have overlooked the bad food experience if we were not rudely kicked out on to the street. There was no last call really. We were warned they were closing but asked to sit inside while waiting for the car to arrive. We were asked to wait outside meanwhile "the regulars" were still at the bar.

Stopped in for lunch with a friend when in the Rittenhouse Square area. Menu had a diverse selection for any taste. The vegetarian burger was excellent in its blend of flavors. Tilapia tacos were also excellent. Service was friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.

Cute, quaint busy restaurant with slow, bad service. One waiter for the dining area. However two women , one hostess, one manager stood around with their arms crossed, scowl on their faces and could have helped out instead, when asked for some service, they, particularly the manager were unhelpful and unpleasant. The food was good, however Philadelphia offers a tremendous amount of better restaurants and most definitely better, warmer and more polite staff. If you want to be treated poorly and eat average food, this is the place for you. I'd suggest find somewhere else!

Tight seating and expensive. Only good for a drink and If you are fortunate enough to score a seat, maybe an app.

We ate here as it was near our hotel. It overlooks Rittenhouse square. Good menu; enjoyable meal; good atmosphere.

My dining experience at Rouge left quite a bit to be desired. To begin with, our reception at the hostess’ station was lacking. The hostess seemed overwhelmed by answering the phone and trying to deal with onsite customers also. Maybe it was a lack of training but I’ve seen better performance at TGI Fridays. She wasn’t exactly rude but she did not provide a good welcome. The service was adequate but not at the level I expect at such a restaurant. The food experience was uneven. The sautéed scallops were good. However, my entrée of shrimp and pasta was mediocre. The shrimp seemed overcooked and the pasta was sticky. I would have considered it unimpressive if I had made it myself at home, much less receiving it in a ‘fine dining’ establishment. I can’t tell you anything about the desserts because the meal was sufficiently disappointing to inspire our departure rather than extend the experience any longer. I cannot recommend Rouge to anyone, especially in light of the vast number of very excellent dining locations in Philadelphia.

I loved that there was both streetside café like seating and that the entire restaurant was open to the outside on this gorgeous summer Sunday. The brunch menu was just right in the offerings size, and we both had egg dishes. Add in the spicy bloody mary and the morning... ahem.,afternoon...started just right. Lots of other great choices on both sides of the menu, salads, burgers, French toast. Yum. Wait staff was attentive even though super busy. This is just up from the Parc with all the hoopla, and I would come back here instead any time.

Went for a nice relaxing lunch with my daughter this afternoon. Our food was outstanding , as it was our first time at Rouge we were excited to see such a fantastic menu. We had salads and steamed clams. The salads were delicious and the clams were the best we have ever had. The weather was beautiful and there were seats by the open doors as well as outside seating with views of beautiful Rittenhouse Square. Don't miss this place! Excellent !!!

The room is small and a bit crowded--in a good way. Cozy. The menu was varied and we ordered scallops (delicious) and salmon--also delicious. Service good and personal.

On a college visit to Philly, my daughter and I walked around Rittenhouse Sq to find a spot. Rouge was the ticket. We tried their world famous burgers (outstanding) and a salad (also outstanding). Prices for the view - we sat at a table on the sidewalk and people and dog watched. Staff is excellent.

Always one of our favorite spots when we are in Philadelphia. The food is always consistently good. The bar has fun friendly bartenders who can make a perfect martini. We ordered the seasonal sangria and it was amazing. Enjoy a stroll in the park before or after you visit.

Came to the fare for the summer art show and needed to eat. Wandered the square and read menus and selected Rouge for its eclectic menu for lunch. Could get bresala on the cartucerie. Pleasant seating outside, Friendly host and staff. Interesting starters for sharing like steak tartar omitted from so many restaurants in the past decades. We shall return.

Rouge has a great bar and a rather jazzy atmosphere looking out to Rittenhouse Square. Dinner menu is not so extensive and having been there only once before and about nine years ago I was disappointed that there was not much innovation in the menu. Food was okay and perhaps could have been better, but to me this is a place to go and melt into the noisy, happy crowd.

Great place in Phila to go to visit their outdoor Alpine Lodge. I went twice anc it was great both times. The Hot chocolate and the Nutella donuts are delicious .

Rouge was recommended by a sales person in a nearby store. We stopped in for brunch on Sunday. The menu wasn't very expansive, but they had just enough offerings to please most any palate. I enjoyed salmon on toast and my date had eggs benedict. Both were really good. The less that good parts of the meal were the service and two glasses of funky tasting water. Service issues - SLOW. We weren't in a hurry, but it took 40 minutes to order and be served one simple course. They weren't busy yet, but our server was very inattentive. My wife ordered a Bloody Mary, as recommended, but for some reason, the server brought one for each of us - the server was informed that we only wanted one and we only drank the one, but she charged us for two. Funky water. My glass of tap water was fine, but my date's smelled like wet dog. After a long wait, the server replaced my date's water, but either they didn't get a fresh glass or they were drying the glasses with a dirty bar rag. Either way, it was gross and kind of ruined a pretty good brunch.

Location is excellent. Had lunch there. Endive salad with shrimp added and a gazpacho soup as well as a mushroom toast. Good food. You can sit under the tents outside or at other uncovered tables outside, if you want to.

Great Burger and Moscow Mule! Great Location ritght by the park . Make reservations, also nice outside seating. All choices are very good, but the burger is amazing. The truffle fries are a great compliment.

We went for an early evening drink, after my daughter had been shopping for a wedding dress, with her mother, and future mother in law. So not the most stress free run up! The staff were amazingly calm, seated us in a window overlooking the Square, and were most helpful. If the food lives up to the service, you will not be disappointed.

We made a reservation for 98 Rouge nearly 3 weeks in advance for the outdoor seating area for a Sunday in late April for 6PM. We arrived a few minutes early for a reservation, only to find that someone had made an error and that we had been booked for indoor seating. We begrudgingly agreed to sit inside rather than wait an hour for an outdoor table, and within 30 seconds of sitting down, we flagged down the host to ask to wait an hour (until 7pm) to sit outside instead. The volume of extremely loud, modern music, paired with shouting customers would have made it impossible to hold a conversation on the inside of the restaurant. Luckily, we got a phone call within 30 minutes that there was an outdoor table available and we were seated by around 6:45 outside. The service was reasonably quick and we got our meal within 20-30 minutes of waiting. We really enjoyed the food: the pirogies with salmon caviar were excellent, and my glass of Pinot Grigio was great. However, the customers at this restaurant were so unpleasant that I would not return to 98 Rouge due to the clientele they attract. Very shady gentlemen and women were seated nearby and within earshot. 98 Rouge is clearly a restaurant aimed at providing a "bougey" photo op with bragging rights, rather than catering towards customer needs or the quality of the meal alone.

Rouge is a very attractive restaurant seating about 50 and open for lunch and dinner. Different menus for each with lower priced lunches. Try their famous ROUGE BURGER

Great menu! Great bar! Great view. Bartender is adorable, Tom! A third place after work. Please go have a drink here. Food looked amazing.

Rittenhouse Square is the place to be in Philly, esp during the warm weather months when outdoor seating and sidewalk cocktails make for crazy good people spotting. This area is "it". Rouge is like the founding father, the original sleek, "cool, hip, be seen there" tiny boutique bar on the park. Be forewarned: the bartenders are wicked snobby, I think they've forgotten they are bartenders. You will wait to be served, and paying for pricey cocktails and luxury burgers will come with no smile or friendly chat. The staff is as concerned about being seen and being on show, looking effortlessly disinterested in you, somehow, too aware of this place's so-called high reputation and press...as the customers, who presumably are among Philly's most plugged in. Nonetheless, it's a worthy place to go for a drink, perfectly on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, because well, it's the hottest place for bar-ing on the square, it's loungey charming, and you will certainly not shares chairs with rid raff here. It's major sceney town. Note: around 1am I met a guy here while out with my gals weeks from getting married, who with his long hair and "silver spoon" Boho vibe, literally told all of us, he was Jesus, on earth, and told me I should not marry the guy I was marrying. He wasnt hitting on me, he was just entitled and convinced he was gifted with the art of future telling. Aside from resembling the son of God, he was a punk 30-something, chill-seeming, ego maniac who somewhat embodies the lot you may encounter here. But again, while everyone sits at tables and the small bar looking too cool and super disinterested, they all, I'm convinced, are as insecure and "trying too hard" as the rest of us. The end.

The best view in Philly of Rittenhouse square! Great food, drinks and an awesome burger as well as incredible Frites! Tuna tartare rocks as well! The window tables are best but outdoor seats are great too.......Amazing service and not to miss

Didn't start well when we were seated in a smelly dark alley at the side of Rouge. Once reseated, served warm beer by an indifferent waiting staff, followed by undercooked meatballs. Over priced, Better places to eat!

Made a reservation for a table outside. Once we arrived (10 minutes earlier) the waitress told us there where no tables available outside but she had a table close to the window. The table she gave us was in the middle of the restaurant, next to the bar and not at all close to the window. Because we sat near to the bar i could not hear myself because of the sound of drunken bar-sitters. This annoyed me Big time. I ordered the burger which tasted good. This place is more a bar than a restaurant. I would never come back.

This is one of those restaurants I always go to when I am in Philly at least one night for dinner (sometimes two). One a nice night, you can site outside, people watch and just relax. The food is great, never had something that I didn't like. The atmosphere is laid back, so the servers aren't hovering, which is great - but they are attentive. Definitely worth checking out.

I suppose it's easier to earn five stars for lunch than for dinner, and Rouge did it with ease. Delightfully prepared salads and excellent service in an intriguing lounge surrounding.

Really great food, in a cool setting. We sat outside and enjoyed watching the world go by. Staff were very helpful, and the menu had plenty of yummy choices.

I had lunch at this place and was surprised how small the restaurant actually is, although the bar is nicely sized. The food is okay, but the service was great. Atmosphere is just okay, prices are too high for what you get especially given all the competition in the Rittenhouse area. The cocktails are really good, however. I will be back for the bar but there are better places to eat that won't break the bank.

Stopped by for lunch on a Sunday afternoon after arriving in the city. Nice menu and good wines. Had a corner sofa seat by the window, Rittenhouse Park across the street. Cozy , great service and a sophisticated atmosphere.

I frequent a lot of restaurants in Philly/LA and never have an issue with phantom bar tabs....except here. lol! Twice in 2 years, interesting. Make sure you thoroughly check your bill otherwise you may be in for a surprise. Seriously.... and yes, I was a bit fired up and wound up getting thrown out for questioning my bill. Oh well... But it's definitely a fun "meat market" of a night spot and I've noticed it's also been infiltrated by prostitution on my last couple visits. In Ritt Square too...lol! They're a bit subtle and word it as "mutually beneficial arrangements" but they're the new age hookers. Too funny! Told the girl last night: Sorry, I have no reason to pay for hookups. I'm guessing management has no idea about the prostitution presence or that their bartenders overcharge customers but it may be something for them to look into. Twice in 2 years and never an issue elsewhere.....hmmm. :)

Having a table by the window overlooking famed Square is a delight. The food is always delicious and the menu changes often although certain items such as the Rouge Burger are always available

Had a wonderful experience with out of town friends at an outdoor cafe table. Fun people watching on Rittenhouse Square. We ordered appetizers, wine and beer. Service was very attentive. Food was creative. Great choice!

Here in sunday at 1 pm some say quaint I say avoid it. Service was decent everything else forget about it. Way over priced 12 mimosa no thanks. Got me for one that had the good mind to ask the price of this flute. Very limited menu 8 items on breakfast side hard to even find one item I really wanted to eat. Avoid this place at least for brunch.

Excellent restaurant on a very hip street and area. Great park across the street. Has tables outside where the food and the people watching go hand in hand

The place is small, island bar in the middle, Art Deco atmosphere, fantastic food and drinks. Rouge is not a place to get a lobster Thermidor but they serve beautiful salads, great steaks , amazing onion soups, great cheese platter, and a lot of specials. Rouge is as much about the food as about the scenery , it's a sophisticated crowd ( pretend to be is good enough for some ) . Now you need to find a parking space. Good luck

We stopped in for a late night dinner and had delicious fish tacos and split a hamburger. The burger was big enough for 2 women and was loaded with goodies. We couldn't sit outside - too busy, but inside was nice too. A bit pricey, but you pay for the location.

We had a very nice bruch there! They have a beautiful cheese plate! Our waitress was extremely friendly in trying to accommodate our requests! I wish I was living in Philly to go back :)

Great food. The menu has a wide range of items, there is sure to be something for everyone. Fantastic atmosphere and ambience. The truffle fries are a must try.

Spend a lazy late Saturday afternoon eating a great hamburger and chips. Really great stuff, not cheap, but a real treat. The space and staff are warm, welcoming, nd just plain enjoyable. Try the special sangria cocktail, it's probably the best 'afternoon' cocktail I've ever had. It's my new favourite Philly restaurant.

This is nice little bar on the Square - not a Brasserie per se, but good drinks and perfect for a light meal. We were planning a big dinner so the smaller bites were a nice option. We found friendly attentive staff and no odd patrons.

Stopped in for dessert and a drink to enjoy a nice night outside. Service was absolutely perfect and flowerless chocolate cake delish. Thank you Rouge, you never disappoint.

You need to sit at the oval bar that overlooks the most impressive part of Philadelphia - Rittenhouse Square. The history of the "Square" - the small chic atmosphere of Rouge - expert mixologists and of course - the Rouge Burger - done perfectly medium rare with carmelized onions and Gruyere cheese on an awesome burger bun! A must do and must see! The doors open to outside dining and overlooking Rittenhouse Square - a tradition for anyone who really lives or experiences Philadelphia.

The food is forgettable. The ambiance is to die for. I love the romantic appeal. The price is outrageous.

Rittenhouse Square has a plethora of dining options and even though the Rouge has been in the same place with basically the same food options it is still a great dining experience. This particular visit had ok service (usually we have phenomenal service) which is why they received a 4 star. Yes, I would add it to your dining plans but they are going to have to consistently deliver excellence if they want to complete in this neighborhood.

We had a fabulous time at this restaurant on our last trip to Philly, our New York neighbor where we go to chill. As always, the crowd was happy and colorful and the food and ambience were great. We do love the truffle fries and scallops risotto. The burgers are scrumptious. Martinis are our pick and they are great there. Anything taste delicious and has such charming view right across from the Rittenhouse If you’re in Rittenhouse Square, you should drop in as we do. Anytime of the day. A great cozy little place. Thanks Katie the manager, you were very friendly and gave us great service. Can’t wait to return!Special thanks to Katie new manager she was very nice to us. We have been in at this restaurant at least 8 times.

One of our go-to lunch spots. Never disappointed with service, food, or the view! And they have a kids menu!

I had a 1pm reservation for Saturday 05/24/2025, we were seated on time. When we were offered the specials there was a Lobster roll option that I chose, we were never told the prices on the specials (I should have asked) but when I got the bill the roll was $45.00...CRAZY! it was ok but not great, I never expected that because I live in NYC and some of the best seafood houses, in particular, Ed's Lobster Bar on Lafayette St in Soho (one of the best in NYC) has a roll for $29.00 and far superior to yours, besides the Maine chamber of commerce stayed recently that lobsters are a lot cheaper now that China is not importing much anymore because of Trump's tariffs! I lived in Philly for a few years and lived at Rouge on Fridays and Saturdays...Very disappointed, angry, and sad...I will not return! Nelson

Enjoyed the outdoor seating and cocktail menu selections; nice wine by the glass as well; good service; fun vibe for people watching

I really liked my dining experience at Rouge. The vibe was great and my server was AWESOME! My server had blonde hair and tattoos she also was really friendly. She also helped me pick new drinks for us to try with dinner. I tried a Rouge burger at Burger Brawl at XFINITY Live earlier this year and I was disappointed that the burger I ordered wasn't as great but I would still go back!

We were lucky to snag a spot on the patio on a gorgeous day in August. Our waiter, Allan, was friendly and efficient. We had the carpaccio and the calamari. Both were delicious. We agreed some of the best calamari we’ve had in a while. It was seasoned well, the breading stayed on, and it wasn’t chewy. Well worth a visit.

Really a delightful lunch sitting at the bar. Seems a mix of visitors and locals. Absolutely tasty ( and gooey) burgers. Shared both the beef burgers offered. Apparently the”Rouge” is their signature burger. Very generous and perfectly cooked. Good fries as well. Lovely wine. Good beer. The place is small with cozy banquettes and tables. A wonderful place to pass a cold winter afternoon or evening. Hate to say it, but it would be easy to share a burger-they are that generous.

We had a very nice lunch here. Each of our three dishes was well made and a pleasure to eat. Standouts included a biscuet sandwich, fried potatoes, and a salad. A very solid four stars. Service was good, and the prices were a bit high but reasonable for the location. The only discordant feature was the menu, which offered small plates along with salads and sandwiches. The small plates were priced higher than the other items. Odd, but easily avoided.

9/10 the food and drinks are wonderful. Service is okay, bartenders are professional but not personable. I ordered a drink on the menu that was new but they didn't even have several of the ingredients for the drink so they improvised. Turned out to be a sub-par drink, I would have rather been told "we don't have that in house, I can do 'xyz' though." I enjoy this restaurant but this experience will probably steer me away for a while.

We had dinner reservations elsewhere but in an effort to take advantage of as many tastes of Philadelphia as possible, we stopped in here for a drink first. I love the atmosphere with the round bar, lounge-y decor, opening onto Rittenhouse Square. We LOVED our cocktails and enjoyed a cheese plate. The bartender was friendly and attentive. The meals people were eating looked delish, I would totally go back here to enjoy dinner.

Without wasting too much time here are some points. Eggs Benedict - under cooked eggs (runny whites), vinegary hollandaise. Side of toast - not toasted and half buttered in rancid butter. They seemed to know this as it was removed before I'd finished it. Service - slow and annoyingly fake in the way we Europeans dislike thoroughly.

Had a great time in this cozy bistro cafe! Very good service, lovely food. Excellent oysters and a good variety of nice wines.

I was touring around Philly with my son, his wife, and her parents in town from Australia. We had a late lunch at Rouge- selected because it was convenient and had the same name as the caterer at their recent wedding. We did not make a mistake matching the name – a potentially foolish whim. The menu was diverse enough for each of us to find a meal we enjoyed. Two of us had the Cob Salad – it was very good – the dressing was on the bottom and at first I thought it was missing – As I dug around the flavors spread as did my smile. My son ordered Mushroom Toast and loved it - he also ordered a side of French fries – there were enough for several of us – and they had two dipping sauce – one looked like a red Rémoulade sauce – the rest of our groups commented very positively on the potatoes and sauce. Two of us had scallops and raved about them. The person who ordered the three chili shrimp complained that there were too many shrimp – several of us volunteered to assist in dispatching them. The staff could not have been nicer – the restaurant overlooked the street and the park – it was quiet enough that we had a nice conversation – no shouting or asking people what they had said. There was also outdoor seating.

food is very good. Service is excellent. Restaurant is very small so it is always very noisy. Tables are squashed very close together. Try to go an off hour.

We tried to have a nice lunch at Rouge. It looked friendly and the menu was moderately appealing (and priced). We didn't have a reservation, but were told it would be a 15-30 minute wait. There were lots of empty tables, but we thought perhaps head been reserved. Later we saw them given to people who came in after us, but we tried to be understanding. No one gave us an update. After 45 minutes, however, and several polite queries, we were unable to get a straight answer from any of the waiters or hostess. It is just better to tell prospective customers that you can't take them, rather than have them wait wait and wait some more... Agh! We finally left and had a wonderful lunch at Parc, down the block.

Lunch was pretty average, burger and salad. It seemed to take a really long time to get our food. We did greatly enjoy the table in the window - perfect in nice weather for people watching. Probably won't return.

I love this restaurant. Cozy, romantic and swish. The drinks are great but the food is simply stunning. I enjoy their burgers and a myriad of appetizers. Great options for vegetarians.

The music was so loud and the people were so trashed at 4:00 PM that it felt like a sleazy nightclub and not the classy and relaxing cocktail bar I thought it was. The drinks were extremely fine and the server was impolite and didn’t smile once.

I liked this place a few years ago, but this time the food and service were average - while the cost is high. It is in a great part of town and you can sit outside and look a Rittenhouse square which is pleasant.

Wonderful food. Are at the bar. Tommy was our bartender. Made a fantastic martini. A definite place to revisit. Host was a little unfriendly, but overall experience was great.

Extremely rude hostess. Was told they couldn’t accommodate 5 people; and when enquiring about a waitlist we were no with no follow up or niceties.

This restaurant is small but not intimate, which is good for business purposes. The food was good but not outstanding in any aspect: presentation, preparation and taste. The décor is conservative and provides a good level of comfort. The price is adequate for what you get.

This busy, beautifully appointed restaurant on Rittenhouse Square is said to serve the best burger Philly. I couldn't resist the Grilled Octopus salad. It was attractively plated and appropriately flavorful. I can't wait to come back for a burger.

Always a good choice for dinner brunch or lunch this attractive intimate restaurant as good American cuisine

We really enjoyed our food (tuna melt and whoppers of burgers) and our waitress was very good. The front door staff that greeted us were just odd. Don't let that deter you - this place is a great stop for lunch!

Walking around the Rittenhouse Square area, we stopped in to Rouge for lunch. We got an outdoor, sidewalk table (great people-watching). My wife and I shared an omelette with smoked salmon, goat cheese & spinach and a salmon burger. The salmon burger was OUTSTANDING! while the omelette was merely wonderful. All of us enjoyed our sparkling lemonades. And our waitress was wonderful. It was a PERFECT day and a perfect lunch.

Had a delightful lunch upon arriving in town. Great cocktails and fish tacos. Cute place for a stop and great location on Rittenhouse square.

We saw some empty tables outside and with no service staff in sight I seated my wife and made my way to the bar to get my own drinks. While I was at the bar the hostess badgered my wife that she could not sit there. It is possible that we broke a rule that was not posted, but it made no sense to be rude and impatient over a few minutes. Unbelievable. Is it possible that Rouge means rude in French?

Simple and unassuming. Rouge has great food and service. The rouge burger was the best burger I've ever had. Top sirloin and hangar steak ground fresh served on a brioche bun. The salmon is phenomenal as well. The crispy brussel sprouts were tasty too.

Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff, the mussels were amazing, also thon tartar we had for starters.

I´ve been to my share of restaurants in Philly, a city where you can eat very very good food. So I was anxious to see Rouge. I cannot say I was totally disappointed - the place is very charming, with sofas, dim light and candles on the tables. But the food was average, specially if you consider the value. I´ve been to Parc some times and it is so much better. I tried the sea scallopes, which were too salty and with a side risotto that lacked salt. My parents had the sea bass that was correct, but nothing special. We didn´t even bother checking the dessert menu. Service was great though.

I had a business trip and met my 24 year old daughter for dinner on February 13th. Started with the 3 cheese appetizer and moved on to the lobster ravioli and NY strip. Dessert was a Valentine's day cake with strawberry. The service, food and vibe were terrific.

An ideal spot for a quiet Sunday brunch. The menu was different and beautifully crafted. The wait staff were excellent and very helpful. The location was great for a Sunday stroll.

Mark was absolutely fabulous. On a busy night he was able to get my group taken care of quickly and efficiently. Excellent service overall.

This place was really good. I had the house burger and it was so big I couldn’t even hold it to eat it!! The fries were my favorite part. So crunchy and fresh. Loved!

Excellent food and drinks - sit at the bar! The bartender takes his craft seriously and made some damn good craft cocktails. He picked apps for our group, made awesome choices. Our group had one obnoxious person, he handled her without skipping a beat.

Came here twice for late-night food and drinks and to sit at a sidewalk table across from Rittenhouse Square. On both visits we were seated quickly despite not having reservations. The waitstaff were attentive and the food and drinks were above average. Would definitely return the next time I'm in Philly.

We visited for a Sunday Brunch and my summary review is "stick to the basics". Our food was very varied in quality and quantity. We started with Tuna Tartare for the table - very nice! For our four main plates we ordered the Lobster Scramble , Open Faced Omelette, Rouge Burger and Cobb Salad. Rouge Burger was star of the show. Cooked to taste, juicy, crispy fries - all in all a fine experience. the Cobb Salad also got the thumbs up - fresh ingredients and nicely presented. The Lobster scramble was very salty (and they warn you ..) and not very filling, and lastly the open faced omelette (with tomatoes, bacon and jalapeno) was distinctly underwhelming and totally tasteless. Add to that coffee with grinds and a syrupy diet coke - not a place we'd go rushing back. I also suspect their eggs come out of a carton rather than freshly cracked, but have no proof of that. They did comp the omelette but was surprised no manager (or chef) came to visit our table. It's a shame as you have a wonderful view of the square, can readily people-watch and just generally enjoy a sunny Philadelphia Sunday Morning. Oh well.

If you want a place that the mice run around and there are droppings on the floor of a decor that is over 20 years old this is your places. Yes f you want to be yelled at by the bartenders and get sprayed in your face by pepper spray this is your place. The food is gross and very overpriced and the drinks aren’t good. It had a nice view buts that’s about it.

Very disappointing. Location on Rittenhouse was the best part of the experience. Food was good but very overpriced and service was absolutely terrible. We had to get up to look for a server to get ice and pepper, then, literally, had to flag a server down to ask for our check. An avocado toast, caesar salad with chicken and 2 wines cost us $100. I recommend you pass by this place and find a better option!

I have always wanted to go in here and check it out, as this is the place to be seen in Rittenhouse. It's very small inside and pretty pricey, but I found the servers to be nice and the clientele amiable and easy to talk to. I can check this one off my list!

Started with drinks (gin and tonic and an aperol spritz) which were both very well made. Had a lovely waitress who talked us through the menu and constantly refilled our water. We had the burger, the salmon and the tilapia tacos which were all 10/10. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the next night! Thank you

You couldn’t be made to feel more welcome but the food quality needs significant improvement. I ordered a loin steak that was inedible. On the plus side, service was alert and responsive. With some attention to quality in the kitchen, you’ve got a real winner here.

The place is nice for a "bar scene", popular more than nice, but it is usually too crowded, too crowded to enjoy.

We went here for lunch midweek and found the food and service to be great. You are able to sit outside or in with a wonderful view of Rittenhouse Square. It is a smaller spot so room is limited and it can get rather loud.

Our party of four did not have one complaint. Our server was a delight. The menu had a nice variety. All of our dishes had a nice presentation. The food was delicious with a nice innovative twist. I put this restaurant in the mid-range category since it is located in the city, I think the prices were justified. In my small town, it would be considered expensive. I would go back. You could eat inside or out on the sidewalk facing Rittenhouse Square park and they had a neat area that was half inside yet open to the outside.

I really used to really like Rouge until recently. Ate there over the holidays with a group of 5. Two of us ordered truffle fries and got very sick afterwards I wrote to Rouge to tell them about it. I wasn't asking for anything; no compensation or a credit. I just wanted them to be aware of the experience we had in case they heard from other patrons. Well guess what? They didn't even respond to my email. I guess its safe to say that they don't need my business or that of the 4 others in my group who were there. With so many good restaurants in Philadelphia, I would think they would want to keep loyal customers but I guess not.

I love Rouge for the ambience. Something about the modern, somewhat feminine aesthetic is really appealing to me. The food is pretty decent as well. I recommend the steak frites. Also, they're famous for their burger but I've never tried it. Given the location, be prepared to spend a little more than what the food warrants, but overall, really a nice place to spend an evening. Very small with limited seating so be sure to make a reservation about a week in advance. Especially in the winter when outdoor seating is no longer feasible.

Small bustling bar/restaurant with good atmosphere - great burgers, appetizers andinteresting bar scene.

Great vibe. Quite the place to meet up. Food was delicious. Generous pours - good cause pricey. Wish the servers were more attentive.

We were lucky to get a table outside overlooking the park. I had a fantastic cocktail made with vodka, lemonade, and cayenne pepper. I loved it so much that I had 2 of them. The tilapia tacos were outstanding as well as my husband's Rouge burger! We also had a beet salad to share. I'm so happy we were just passing by and decided to stop in!

Sat outside the Rouge burger and the hanger steak salad were fabulous! Cocktails great too! Best margarita in a while!!! Great people watching spot outside!

I am certain my review matches others. It was nice we sat inside the waitress was kind and very informative she didn't frequent our table asking the dumb question every 5 minutes we was able to enjoy our meal and convo

We had an indoor table seated next to the open window with a view to lovely Rittenhouse Square Park. The cocktails were absolutely fabulous; my compliments to the bartender. The Blood Orange Margarita was outstanding, as was the Kentucky Mule in a cold copper mug. The pumpkin cinnamon roll with ice cream was a scrumptious dessert which paired perfectly with a cappuccino. Service was outstanding as well. The noise level was perfect with soft music as a perfect background that didn't interfere with conversation. Great place!

We had one of the best meals anyone could remember. Huge juicy scallops, spicy salmon, and the flour less chocolate cake for dessert was to die for!!! Carl was the kindest, most polite and attentive waiter we have had in years.

Walking into this establishment is like walking into a romantic restaurant in France. The outside seating leads into the indoor which is flanked with beautiful silk curtains around each of the walls and old patina mirrors that reflect the Rittenhouse Square on the inside. The bar is A tiny little bar with great service at all times. The food is fabulous and the atmosphere is one of friendly invitation. I would suggest you try the bib salad, and as always the tuna tartare is one of my favorites. The music is always on point no matter what time of day. I would encourage anyone to visit Rouge for a great lunch, early dinner, or just to meet some friendly locals in Philadelphia.

My first visit to Philly, I’d been told about the Rittenhouse district and it wasn’t until we arrived to Rouge that I understood the live for the neighborhood. The restaurants ambience, food, decore, service, drinks as well as the bar tender was fantastic all around. Even the view of the park was nice and calming. Love it ! It will be my go to spot when I’m I town.

Rouge is a great location on Rittenhouse Square one of the prettiest squares in Philly. We sat just inside the large glass windows overlooking the park because it was an abnormally chilly May evening but we looked longingly at the cafe tables and chairs on the sidewalk outside and imagined what it would be like to sit out there on a warm night watching the activity on the square. Reminded me of a Parisian cafe. My college aged daughter and her friend labeled it SABS or what we older people refer to as a "see and be seen" destination. Oh, and the food and service were outstanding too!

Entered this restaurant randomly after I left another hoping they had a pumpkin dessert, hostess very pleasant thank you, seated instantly she found out there was pumpkin ice cream, while seated I asked for dinner menu and saw pumpkin ravioli on, hold the ice cream bring the ravioli, Asian infused, sesame seeds, nice spin with a glass of albarino, pumpkin ice cream to follow and cappuccino, prefect evening, thank you!

Can't say enough about Rouge. Small, quaint and overlooks beautiful Rittenhouse Square. It has breakfast all day with the basics. Dinners, just a snack, a cocktail are always special. Great for couples and families. We love this place and go semi-regularly to dine here. The front opens up when the weather is nice, which allows expansion of the sidewalk dining area. In the winter it's cozy and reasonably quiet. From highly rated burgers to oysters in the half-shell, this place is first class. The wait staff is also superb. You gotta try it!

On Labor Day, I took 2 friends to Rouge for brunch. I ordered the crab benedict on toast. I received one square of half toasted bread measuring 3.5 inches by 3.5 inches. On top was a tablespoon of crab meat and one properly cook egg and one hard-boiled egg. The ample amount of hollandaise sauce was almost tasteless. Sauted shallots added the only taste to the dish. I asked for and received another piece of toast for the eggs. The diamond-cut toast arrived with jelly. Later I found out I was charged $2.00 for the single piece of toast. The salt mill did not work, and it took 12 minutes to get a regular salt shake.

On street level you step into this environment where a top hat and flapper dress would be appropriate.Velvet sofas and velvet draped walls a small intimate parlor with a eat around bar in the middle and space heated wrought iron out door seating. Above it is a modern apartment building with a wall windowed gym treadmill runners racing the AC facing the park. in the area there are so many choices of places to eat we could not agree until we saw those sofas. The staff is welcoming, you are encouraged to relax and enjoy. The food is out of the ordinary well presented and good. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the affair. There are two one seater bathrooms available not fancy. This is not wheelchair accessible. Good NYC style view of Rittenhouse Square park. Perfect for date, business or friends lunch. Don't recommend for children because this is a bar restaurant and the seating is close.

I went twice and both times were fun. It looks like a ski lodge in Aspen. Great hot chocolate and donuts. So cute to sit by the fire pits.

rouge (rittenhouse in Philly) withholds camera footage and information about the safety of their guests. They allow their guests to be involuntarily drugged, stolen from, harassed, etc. They just laughed in my face basically when I called them about my concerns the next day. I’ve been crippled for 2 months after being drugged involuntarily at their establishment and they refused to Show camera footage or Find anything on security cameras. I have drug test results and a police report and they refuse to regard any concern unless I follow up with a lawsuit (obviously I cannot afford that). STAY SAFE Stay away from Rouge !!

The rouge burger is a must! Delicious, the best burger I've had in a long time. Prompt and friendly service, and a great location on Rittenhouse Square overlooking the park.

The food and drinks were so good. Our service by Kim was impeccable. It is a little loud because of the music but it made the atmosphere even better.

Came here for a few drinks. We sat outside and had some soup. Service wasn't the best and it was a little high priced which I kind of expected being in an nicer part of town.

I've been to Rouge before. This time was SO bad that I will never go there again. I went with a friend both of us salivating for a "great burger". We sat at the bar where we like to sit.... After 15 minutes the bar tender acknowledged our presence (in other words he never greated us much less "I'll be with you shortly". Another 5 to ask for water and he said he's very busy and he will get it when he can.. Then another 10+ before he asked if we wanted a drink (we did). After another 15 minutes of being ignored, we called to him for a menu. And then called to him to take our order. OK we were annoyed but we were from out of town and getting together so conversation was keeping us busy. The burgers arrived. The were ordered Medium Rare. Mine came Medium Well to Well done. At that point .. it was not even worth bothering to try to get the attention of the bar tender to send it back. Getting the check took calling to him from across the bar 2 times, and then waiting. There are many excellent burger places in Philadelphia. The service coupled with the inadequate food preparation made this a "never visit" again. Why bother? It is clear that there were many "regulars". Did they get better attention and service? That is not clear. Find another place unless management pays more attention to the quality of the bar staff.

This buzzing, small space offers friendly service, a great menu, and yummy drinks. We enjoyed a lovely brunch here, accompanied by some great cocktails and delicious dry rosé. The raw oysters were perfectly fresh and cold. The shrimp dumplings, tender and spicy. The French Onion Soup was some of the best I've had and worth every calorie. On the lighter side, the egg white omelette was very tasty. We would absolutely return!

The décor may have changed since the last time we were here but the care and service and the quality of the food have not. The drinks are skillfully and swiftly blended. Now is a great time to sit in the café-like chairs on the sidewalk or, if you prefer less hustle and bustle, the inside is unusually quiet. Great mix of people, friends, couples, relatives, all having fun and a great meal of shared appetizers or two or three main courses. People- watching on Rittenhouse Square is a delight and, of course, the chef never disappoints.

Late afternoon light bite and cocktail on the sidewalk in Rittenhouse on a nice Saturday in August was a good vibe. The seasonal salad was very good paired with the habanera margarita. Our server was friendly and energetic. We were checked on by other service people as well as her to make sure everything was good. I had not been to Rouge in about 20 years and was happy to return. A good time to go is around 4 if you want to sit outside just walking in. It was crowded during lunch and a hot spot for dinner.

Low lights and jazzy music with an upscale center bar dominating the room. Very very relaxed dinner. We had the tuna tartare from the “ to share” as our appetizer, and it was amazing! I had the burger and it was good. Our server warned it was big.. and it was. I ended up eating it without the bun, so it wouldn’t end up all over me. I really liked the caramelized onions. The side spring salad was nothing special. Blood Orange sorbet was nicely portioned and very tart. Dress: My husband wore jeans and nice shirt and loafers; I wore dress pants, blouse and boots and we fit in perfectly. It’s small so suggest reservations. Our shared app, dinners, glass of beer, coffee and bowl of sorbet put us a little under 100.

In all honesty, the places that were our first choice were booked on our one and only night in the area. But Rouge looked inviting and we were able to snag a table outside. Like others have mentioned, the people watching is a fine spectator sport here. Lots of fun watching people pull their dogs along on a walk or huff by on a jog, in addition to an anything goes fashion parade. Food was fine -- not overly large portions, but a good variety and tasty. Server was prompt until we had our food, then sort of disappeared. Only real negative for us was a yapping little dog a few tables down with an oblivious owner. Such is life. Definitely include time for a walk around the park, right across the street, when you're finished.

This restaurant was recommended by the hotel I was staying at. Cozy and intimate feeling. I sat at the central bar instead of taking a table. Great place to people watch and enjoy a cocktail. The bartender was great and made sure that I enjoyed the food and that I was never without a drink. The food was hit or miss - so not sure if that is the norm. I would still go back as I enjoyed the overall experience.

Hamburgers do not have a great draw for me, and I never order them when out, but my daughter was hungry for a burger and we decided to split one. Good decision because we could have never finished a whole Rouge burger and we drove from Maryland, so the doggie bag was not an option. The gourmet burger and fries were marvelous, calling me back to Rouge on several occasions; the setting is just plain wonderful, i.e. inside decor fun and sophisticated; outdoor dining fun and cultural; service used to be more expedient and gracious. The last time I was there, I felt like a bit of an intruder, but I'd still go back. It's a staple when I'm shopping on Walnut and 18th at Rittenhouse Square.

We had a great early dinner, ended very fresh salads, marvelous craft cocktails, fresh seafood in a park-side setting. Staff were very friendly, professional and accommodating. Highest rating.

This place is right on Rittenhouse Square. A gorgeous, elegant part of the city. Small room, very cozy. They serve small plates etc. and the food is quite good. Great bar staff and carefully crafted cocktails. Best part is watching the over 60 males accompanied by or in search of the much younger female and the conversations are the stuff of movies.

Stopped in for a late lunch. We had a burger and fries together with great ambience and a waitstaff with smiles😀 The quality of the beef ,roll and fries was outstanding . Can't go wrong with close proximity to Rittenhouse park in the fall!!

European style sidewalk cafe. I had the Tilapia Tacos and my husband had the Waldorf Chicken salad croissant and a salad. Food tasted fresh. Service was fast and good.

I wanted to try the rouge burger on a recent trip to philly to see how it rates as I am a foodie and burgers are my weakness....it is actually very good....the meat blend is great and I added applewood smoked bacon to it. Not the world beater but top 10....my fiance' had eggs Benedict which were good but the hollandaise was a bit too lemony....all in all a beautiful place to people watch at the park but not really spot on to parq or Devon seafood....

It was a rainy Friday night and most of the restaurants at Rittenhouse Square had a 2 hour wait but Rouge had several seats at the bar so we took our seats. Its dark wood interior was cozy for a cold rainy night. We had small plates which came quick and were delicious! The Bartenders, Meredith and Katie were very attentive, quick and made very professional drinks. We had 4 cocktails and plenty of appetizers and the bill was under $100. We had the lamb meatballs, fries, Brussels sprouts, mac & cheese. If you are in the area I highly recommend Rouge

When we stepped through the door we were greeted by the friendly hostess. We had read the reviews in advance and had been intrigued. Everyone loved their entrees, they were cooked to perfection. Two friends ordered the salmon which was served over spicy root vegetables, another got fish tacos, another got the rouge burger. For dessert we shared the special - pumpkin sticky buns with a caramel sauce. One person ordered the onion soup- the consistency looked odd to me, she said it was ok. ( I think she was being treated polite ) Service was prompt and attentive. Overall nice atmosphere and dining experience. The oval shaped bar and comfy seating was lovely.

We stopped at Rouge for a drink and stayed! The staff was friendly, & attentive. We had a late lunch, food was as described and really good. The burger is a must have! Terrific people watching, nice view of the park and good energy.

Though the restaurant provides a nice view to sit/ eat and people watch the food I had was of poor quality. The meatballs were undercooked and forgetful. Waiting staff could be more attentive particularly for the price they charge.

stopped by this place late afternoon for a snack and ended up sharing the burger. The quality of the the rolls and butter and the brioche burger bun were excellent. What really made the experience was our server. Despite the fact that we were hot from walking, not dressed up, and only shared the burger, our service was excellent. No snobbery here!

Just stopped in here for drinks. Place was not packed for a Saturday night but it was loud. Looked at their wine list and sat and waited for service at the bar which never came. The wine list was lacking and unimpressive. We headed for the door.

Nice place for a drink and Apps on the outdoor seating ... Stopped by while driving thru Philly... Nice weather and wanted to enjoy the nice afternoon with the outdoor tables and some people watching ... Had a few martinis and the clam appetizer... Delicious and great service... Will be back

Rouge is one of those types of restaurants that does a few things really really well. They make pretty solid cocktails overall, particularly classic cocktails (don't expect anything too exotic) and have solid wines by the glass. The lack of quality draft beer is unfortunate, but generally the wine list makes up for it. Where Rouge really shines is their burger. Its been called the best burger in America by food critic Alan Richman, and I can't really disagree. Super rich ground beef, a perfect bun, caramelized onions and Gruyere that pull everything together. One can also upgrade to the truffle fries for a couple dollars (is that even a hard choice??). The calamari likewise is fantastic and one of my favorite calamaris in the city, which is saying something since Philly does calamari quite well. Other dishes are hit or miss, but you really can't go wrong with these two.

I had lunch here, the nicoise salad. Wine was good, food great and service great as well. Lovely rear seared big tuna pieces on a salad with lettuce, tomato, carrot, potato and oniun. I did not like the olives, but then again have lived in Greece for several years so am probably spoiled in relation to these. All in all, the experience was good. My only comment is that the music is too loud. It is French inspired but just too heavy so turning down would be good. The bar in the middle adds a great informal note to the setting. All in all I will go again.

Good setting overlooking the square, doll yourself up a bit, as most of the customers look quite smartly dressed. Mixture of cuisines on the menu from quite traditional chicken and mash to oriental duck stir fry.

My husband and I were walking around the city with our dogs and decided to stop for a bite. Luckily we were able to get a table right away outside. The day was just gorgeous! Having lunch at Rouge made it even better. The service was great and the food was great. I had the famous cheeseburger that I have been dying to try for years and I did not disappoint. We will definitely be back. Oh yeah, they even gave our dogs fresh water and kept coming back to fill it up.

My husband and I were in town for Easter weekend and went for an afternoon drink. We sat at the bar, very cool place with a nice ambiance and view to the park. Don't miss a sunset there, you will enjoy it!

Im just giving one star cause i cannot give 0! The atmosphere was good, but never experience that terrible service from the staff, especially from the bartender( a blondie nasty one), non proffessional rude and so miserable! We had to ask to many times for our drinks, not paying attention what we asking for and waiting forever! She had no human common sense, looked she was under drugs… even the managment staff was not in level of serving the clients. Never go backkkkk

Overall the food was pretty good. Nice seating on the sidewalk with views of Rittenhouse Square. Great people watching spot. Some of the food tried to hard to be trendy at the expense of being just good food. The appetizers were very good however.

My partner and i get this withdrawal periodically for a fine burger and Rouge is always our first choice - a thick juicy perfectly cooked burger with duck fries and a glass of wine (and usually their great squid first). Dark, not too noisy and never rushed we go to Rouge regularly and will go back to eat and relax over wine and of course the wonderful burger (please do not tell too many people or it will get too crowded)
Cold food Slow service
No one greeted us then server was snarky after we asked if the seats we chose were OK. Some food arrived quickly but half took over 75 minutes and was cold when it finally arrived after we asked several times. French onion soup was OK but not hot or worth $15. Calamari was good and chicken and burgers were OK but not hot. Bills were all mixed up. Very disappointing because the park is amazing.
