Excellent brisket

By RetiredAttyBR |

I visit Houston about 4 times a year and always try and visit this (or the Katy freeway) Rudy’s. I like the lean brisket and you can order just the correct amount depending on your level of hunger. Some restaurants severe brisket was a greasy cut of meat with lots of fat — not here. You do have a moist brisket option if you desire.

Awesome BBQ

By 56003Richard |

Excellent BBQ and very friendly cashiers. The food is great and the BBQ is just like it would be in the hill country.

If you want quality baked meat, look for this chain of restaurants.

By Alucard66 |

Excellent baked meat chain; all the pieces with a delicious flavor and I like that you can buy the portions you require and not force you to be a package or a single meat... you can buy all; so I did to try and it did not disappoint me. Super recommended.

Meat and more meat

By James M |

Rudy’s is definitely a must stop or at least a couple of lunches or dinners. If you’re looking for salad You are absolutely in the wrong place. The smoke meats are nothing short of exceptional. Best lunches I had all week

Just OK

By PeanutButters |

We ordered the pulled pork, brisket, baby back ribs, baked beans, potato salad and slaw. We were left disappointed by each item. Nothing was bad, but nothing was particularly good either.

BBQ

By leon039 |

Great bbq. We had ribs, smoked turkey, brisket and sausage all really smoked perfectly. The sauce really is very good and compliments the meats. The setting is of an old gas station. Pretty cool. Picnic tables inside. Family style.

I go here every trip

By Ann0ying_website |

I go to Rudy's every time I'm in Houston - at least once. And I've been there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (not all on the same day). Love the brisket - their "sause" is good, but you don't need it. The rub & smoke gives all the flavor you want.

Very Good Flavor

By Ali A |

Good flavor, meat well cooked, nice sauces... We had the sausage, brisket, pulled pork and ribs. All were well cooked with good smoke band. Creamed corn was also good.

4 Stars for the Cobbler

By Catrina C. |

I wasn't impressed after having had the Pit Room the day before but the cobbler was simple to die for and for that I give 4 stars. It's good BBQ don't get me wrong but I would rate lower than other places we ate it while in Houston. I like that you had the option or moist or lean brisket. Give me all the fat!

Moisture brisket over cooked

By Monica9080 |

Like Rudy's for years. But feel disappointed for last couple times. Supposedly, they should be very particular about quality instead of nickel and dime about the food cost of a burned brisket. They'd chop a big chunk of charcoal brisket throwing to your plate and and charge you. We ended up paying the bill and throw the charcoal meat away.

Great Texas BBQ

By cms28269 |

My nephew took us to this restaurant and the BBQ was GREAT! Love that BBQ Brisket. We had the moist brisket and probably the best brisket I have had. Kind of interesting ordering experience. You select your drinks, your sides and your meats. They are very helpful in how much meat you need based on the number of people in your party. They gave us excellent advice as there was no leftovers. Hard to rate the service as you order and pickup in one place.

Amazing

By Brendan J |

The food was fantastic! I could eat it for ever! I want to go back right now! Ir is a resurant that should be all over the world!

I LOVE IT

By Regina A |

I’ve visited this restaurant several times and it’s a delightful surprise every time it just keeps getting better and better, they have a wide beverage menu and the meat tastes delicious and it peels right off the bone, it’s just perfect. Families enjoy this place and the sauce , what can I say about the sauce, it’s the best!

Good, not great

By MichinMaine1999 |

The meat was well-cooked. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere. The sides were handy pre-packed, but fresh and delicious. Liked the bottled sodas. Unfortunately, the sauces just were not as good. Also, no plates was a bit awkward. Didn't realize we were supposed to use the butcher paper until later. Overall better than a burger joint, but not the best BBQ we have had.

Great texas bbq, great sides, great meat, great atmosphere

By alaska1986 |

I was referred here by some locals and man did it deliver. It will be busy during lunch but slows down after that. You order your food by weight and recently I hadnt been eating a lot of red meat and found there turkey is delicious it goes head to head with the other meats. The bbq sauce at the table is delicious. The sides are delicious i especially liked the pinto beans, the creamed corn was a must for me over the normal corn and the good ol' white bread on the side is free. The desserts looked delicious as well and they have an assortment of soft drinks or beer. The setting is as texas as it gets it was originally a gas station and still pumps gas occasionally. Dont miss this place the price was reasonable too

Excellent Barbeque

By TOM H |

Picked up some takeout barbeque beef brisket and sausage. Very quick service and the food was delicious. The place was packed on a Saturday afternoon. Obviously the reputation of the place is great.

Went here twice in one week

By Brian R |

I was in town for business and wanted to try something new. So, I stopped here not once, but twice. I really love the concept of Alacart ordering and how darn good their BBQ is. I had baby back ribs, potato salad, and beans both times. (Yes, it was that good!) This is now one of my favorite places and I'll be back if I should ever be in the area again!!

OVERPRICED

By Sunraindancer |

The BBQ is $15.98 per pound. We ordered one pound and one third of it was fat. We also order pork ribs at $12.38 per pound and most of it was fat. However, the potato salad was great. It will be a while before we go back, if the prices go down.

Yummy food!

By Martie1S |

We went to Rudy's on a recent trip to Houston. Ordered a couple of different things and everything was really tasty. The creamed corn was the best I ever had.

Hummmm

By AUSAGUY007 |

Always like coming to this place they opened up a la locations over the years there BBQ sandwich is okay it's a little dry and if you get it to go they always forget to give you the sauce but for a quick pullover place it's better than fast food

Rudy’s is Great!

By TexanWhoTravels |

Rudy’s is a great BBQ restaurant and I highly recommend visiting there with your family and friends.

Great Texas Barbecue

By Bryan B |

Best barbecue I’ve had in Texas yet. Big portions of smoked perfection. This will be my regular barbecue joint whenever working in Houston from here on out.

Good food for lunch

By Susan D |

There was a long line but they took the orders fast and didn't take long for our food. They do not wait on you at a table. Food was good.

A Must Visit when in TX

By Brian G |

We recently moved to TX and take every friend/family member who visits us to Rudy's to enjoy the excellent BBQ. My favorite items are the smoked turkey and cream corn. Yes...the gas pumps out front are real and you can get gas.

Excellent food, Fun experience

By Karin B |

Great choice of food, love the bbq taste of it. Nice, relaxed & low key venue. I will certainly come back here...

Looking for the best BBQ and here we are

By JuanKRiyadh |

I had the chance to travel to Houston TX, the cravings those days were just to taste and eat something authentic from the place I was. Rudy's was the option and definitely will come to be the place to visit each time I'll go to Houston. The moist brisket and the ribs are far the best from the menu, but don't forget the sausage that always is amazing. The place takes yourself from the door directly to those restaurants that foreigners like me use to see on movies, the music, the location, the tables everything is done without many pretensions but with clean detail and in the line to reach the cashier a huge options of good beers (options for everyone and any taste). Highly recommended for locals and foreigners, if you travel to Houston visit the place and if you are in Houston, why your are not there?

Good food, great service, great value and music doesn’t break your ears

By Kevin S |

I never feel that a trip to Houston is complete without a meal at Rudy’s which used to be my local restaurant. The food tastes are varied and ecxellent. The service is good and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and the music adds to the experience with good audio quality and reasonable sound levels. I prefer the Rudy’s experience to one of my local Michelin star restaurants.

A very popular place

By VVG |

First time at this BBQ, good food in simple serving and seating atmosphere. Not sure if it’s a good place for dinner as it’s not in a busy developed area.

5 star BBQ

By The_genial_zod |

This is the place to come for a Texan barbecue experience. Wide selection of meats and veg and Rudy's Sissy sause.

Opted for Rudy's Two Days In A Row !

By John |

I am traveling cross country. Yesterday, a local recommended a Rudys in Round Rock TX. We enjoyed it so much, we decided to stop at the Rudys in Houston on the day before we leave TX. My wife and I loved the "moist brisket". We lived our entire life, on the East Coast, and never had BAR B Q this good. The bark, the smoke flavor, the tenderness, the lack of dryness, is amazing. At this location, also had a portion of Prime Rib, it was very good also. We love the fact that this treat is available adjacent to a gas station, with large number son tables. Many places like this, require you to wait on lines, for extended periods of time. Texas you are so lucky. If you are not a Texan, like me, traveling through Houston via I-10, this is a quick easy stop with a big payback. MY VOTE IS FOR THE "MOIST BRISKET".

The Best

By Avince |

Visited Rudy's after seeing so many positive reviews and it could not get better. Superb service and classic Texan barbecue ambience. Told them I was first timer there and they took me through their ordering process and gave free samples to taste. Their turkey and moist brisket are simply delicious. Top it up with their lip smacking potato salad, coleslaw, three beans salad and their classic spicy sauce, it was just too good. Very professional in service and quality. Will definitely go back again.

Great BBQ

By Kris H |

This is a regular stop for us, and they never disappoint. Prices are not cheap but are reasonable. No plates as you buy the BBQ by the pound. The moist brisquit is always one of our favorites.

great bbq

By Chloe W |

wonderful service from staff down to the cook not to mention how amazing the bbq was . the enviorment was so nice and welcoming will most definatly eat here again when we are passing through again thank you for the wonderful food

Pretty good

By Tom A |

I had the moist brisket, small cream corn and pinto beans. It was the first time I had been here and went to Rudy's based on a review by another person. The moist brisket was really good and ranks close to some of the best I've had. No juicing of the BBQ sauce all over the meat...the meat was able to stand on its own. The creamed corn was pretty good and offered a different taste but definitely good. Pinto beans were great! It was pretty close to what I read as a review and well worth the stop. One thing....kinda pricey but great BBQ

Wow, Houston, another great meal!

By Tyson R |

Saw this cited somewhere and finally had a chance to grab a meal. Moist brisket was very good. Beans were very good. Probably a top 3 ever potato salad. Turkey and regular sausage were really good. Wish it were the weekend because I’d really like to have tried their prime rib. Sauces were good, but you don’t need much. Meats’ flavor is worth not covering up. Looking forward to my next return to Houston.

Good BBQ at good value

By Ross I |

Had a day business trip in Houston last month and had a chance to hit Rudy's for lunch prior to heading out. The brisket sandwich, beans, and potato salad was the menu. The brisket was very good. Moist, meaty and with the cap fat cut away just enough. The beans had a hint of smoke and lots of cut bacon. Good choice for sure. The potato salad had a slight mustard taste and good size chunky potatoes. Overall, it the food was very good, served hot and fast. Very pleased with our decision!

Wonderful BBQ

By Llamma2 |

The BBQ baby back ribs and brisket sandwiches are excellent. Great beans and potato salad. The baked potato was huge. It’s an informal place where you go to the counter to order and then find a picnic table type seating to sit at. The ribs were served in paper, no plate or cardboard boat. Not a good option for eating the shared side of potato salad. The sandwiches had a cardboard tray but not much room for the potato salad. Only two types of bbq sauce. The sissy one was good. The only have beer, water, and soft drinks. Single serving bottles of wine would be an easy and much appreciated add. The food was so good I’ll be back and hopefully remember to ask for a cardboard boat for my ribs.

I'm A Regular! Always will Be!

By dcallawaytx |

Folks you just can't beat this meat - does not matter what you get. I tried the Pulled Pork...it was great. Love the pintos. On Sunday get there at 11a.m. or you will be waiting the closer it gets to Noon.

A Beef Sanctuary ...

By viatoripatuit1 |

If you are reading this to decide whether or not to go. The answer is YES. This is a barbecue lover sanctuary. Be ready to eat by hands one of the the best meats in town. They are at a great location, have a nice atmosphere, highly neat, have a very friendly staff, and carry an excellent selection of meat.

Great

By AUSAGUY007 |

Good selection of sides and the bbq is good too they are originally an Austin concept... Pricing is good too

Business Lunch

By Jesse M |

Came in after a meeting with one of my coworkers. Enjoyed everything about the place from the moment walked in greeted at the door to the people helping us bring the counter The food was awesome! Can't get much better brisket, ribs, or pudding around the city. We'll be back!

Average local Texas BBQ

By Suwatss |

While we were quite satisfied with its a variety of BBQ in Texas style here we think its taste for beef, pork, and rib BBQ are just average and its smell is not quite up to good standard. We love its sausage though for its juicy and taste combination.

THE best meats!

By Andy L |

Coming to Rudy's is an experience onto itself! You have to try the turkey, the jalapeño sausage, and the moist brisket! The service is phenomenal and you can buy it by the half-pound, so you can build your own special! Prices are a bit high, but believe me, it is worth every penny!

Delicious BBQ!

By Crazy4Bacon |

This restaurant has excellent barbecue and quick service. Their desserts and sides are also very delicious. My favorite thing to get is their breakfast tacos in the morning because they put barbecue in their eggs! Overall, this restaurant is well run and has very good food.

Their Cream of Corn is AMAZING.

By Jordylove |

We always have Rudy's cater our events for work and I always make it a point to bring some home. I had never had them before moving to Houston and I'm pleased every time. My favorite is the cream of corn and the mild BBQ sauce with the tender brisket. Seriously so good.

Great food and atmosphere

By Freedom778533 |

Recently visited Rudy’s for supper with a friend. We both got the moist brisket. Some of the best brisket I’ve had. In addition to great food, they also let you sample anything on the menu when you order.

Great BBQ

By Obi1234 |

Fantastic tasting food. Incredibly fast service will make this worth the stop. Careful, a-la-cart menus will Nickle and dime you to death. Top pick for 2016 solely on food quality!

Good BBQ

By Cbento5 |

The food wash delicious!!! I had brisket, green chili soup, corn on the cob. Nice family style setup. A must go!

Tender moist brisket!!

By ycandycan |

Self service, we pick the BBQ meat then seat. We ordered the moist brisket, sausage and chicken for 4 of us. Even 80+ Asian seniors loves these! The brisket is very tender and moist.

Great BBQ Meat

By Graham H |

Rudy's is a staple lunch place for many people at my office and we go here pretty regularly. Service - Not much to say here as you order at the counter, get your food, then sit down like most BBQ joints. The staff are usually very friendly. Food - The meats are great and in my opinion better than all of the other places in the area. I'm sure there may be better places in the state of Texas but in this specific area this is great meat. The biggest negative I have against Rudy's is the lack of options when it comes to sides. They do have a few things like potato salad etc but the selection is very limited and it would be great if they even just added something like onion rings or fries. Value - Pretty good for BBQ. Many places tend to overcharge but Rudy's is very reasonable for the quality.

Lunch

By Debbie G |

Great TX bbq. The best part about this place is that you can order by the slice, and you pay by weight. The meat is excellent on its own, but the Rudy sauce, sweetish and spicy, accents the meat perfectly. It's a rustic atmosphere, but that adds to the experience. The potato salad is so good.

Great taste!

By Latepat2 |

Nice place to grab a Sunday after church snack. It was not a little nag wait and one could dine in or carry out. I selected to carryout. I selected pull pork from the menu. Although my preference is for a dry bbq, the sauce taste great.

Good Texas style BBQ

By N2O2fish |

even though Rudy's is a chain it still has some of the best BBQ around. if you get a chance try their breakfast tacos.

Chain taste

By Jenbankhead |

Came here twice with coworkers. Nothing special stood out about the food. It was a little pricey but you get a lot by ordering by the pound. I tried the pork baked potato and it was okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if it's the closest place and I'm hungry it would do.

Special smoke.

By Aaron M |

Excellent taste, we had the opportunity to try the Baby Ribs and Brisket. Super recommended for those who are looking for meat with the touch of Texas.

Wonderful brisket lunch!

By Patrick |

This restaurant came highly recommended and did not disappoint! Best brisket I've ever had. Wish they had better side selection but that is not enough to take away from the brisket nor the great atmosphere! Side note - find it extremely silly that others are commenting here about how construction is an inconvenience for access - like it is something the restaurant can control!

Great comfort food

By demi k |

The meals were delicious, plenty to go around and we enjoyed the experience... Fresh bread and friendly staff.

If you don't like this BBQ we can't be friends

By chrisbean08 |

This is fantastic quick BBQ with a fun atmosphere. The cream corn and potato salad are particularly good. On this trip I had those sides plus lean brisket and sausage. It was all great. The atmosphere is very casual with butcher paper for plates. It's a Texas classic now that can't be missed. Sure there are plenty of boutique BBQ places one can visit, but none are as fun and reliably good. Since I regularly add bits about dining with little ones to my reviews, I can happily say that Rudy's is always family friendly with something you can find for the kids to eat. Although my little ones weren't with me on this trip, they would be fine to take here.

Best BBQ

By Todd P |

I always visit Rudy's when I am in Texas. I visit once a year and have to go there, sometimes twice before i leave. The brisket in excellent and so moist. The sausage is very good too. The new potatoes in butter is a great side. Must go!

The ranking of Rudy's must be a joke

By randall1974 |

Rudy's has some of the driest brisket of any restaurant! The picture of the brisket on tripadvisor did NOT come from Rudy's. They have great BBQ sauce because the brisket needs all the help it can get. Rudy's has a nice atmosphere, though.

Always good !

By BKATX |

They are always busy but service is great ! Meat is lean and perfectly done in my opinion. They will always do a special sandwich when requested.

Like being at a backyard bbq

By hikingaf |

We had the baby back pork ribs and beef brisket sandwich. Both were very yummy and tender and moist. I tried both bbq sauces and both were good, but I stayed with the “Sissy” sauce. My friend liked the regular sauce. The peach cobbler was yummy and moist. The Potato Salad was so good I wished I bought the jumbo container. Plenty of seating. Very clean restrooms as well as the entire venue. Very helpful and hospitable staff. Yummy! I’ll be back t time I’m in that part of town.

Barbecue for the day

By Robert G |

I purchased pork loin , brisket , chopped beef, BBQ beans ,creamed corn , spicy sausage, regular sausage, a brownie, me and my wife loved every bit of it everything is great !!

Great Local Chain

By amp1231 |

Nothing fancy, but just adds to the experience. You order at a counter and take your food to a seat. Have a choice of the brisket cut, lean or regular. Either is very good. BBQ sauce good as well.

Always good

By 244chuckl |

Rudy's never disappoints. They're very consistent in the quality of their food. I love this place. I order the most brisket every time.

Yummy bbq

By Livelife88 |

Coming all the way from Australia, Rudy's was the exact kind of place I was in hope for. As soon as we entered the door the smell of smoked bbq hit you. Staff were kind enough to explain the menu to us and give us some taste tester's before ordering. Between two we ordered the Brisket, Turkey, sausage and pork ribs along with the coleslaw and corn. The Brisket was tender and perfectly cooked and the ribs fell off the bone. Awesome bbq guys, thanks Rudy's.

Great brisket at reasonable prices

By Sam W |

Lots of good options here. Porkribs were nice but brisket was the best. Personally, I don't care so much for their sauces. But the brisket was perfect even without the sauces.

Nice Treat at a Nice Price

By Letfreedomring1876 |

This was a first time visit to Rudy's. Once I'd entered their doors, I'd felt at home. The smells and atmosphere were very inviting. I was offered samples of the smoked turkey and chicken. Both were extremely delicious. I'd ended up ordering smoked chicken, ribs, potatoes, and creamed corn. The price was $23.78. It's a a'la carte menu. All of the items were very good. I should note, the ribs were a tad on the salty side. I would definitely recommend and return.

Mother daughter day

By Deborah A |

We wanted barbecue for my daughter took me to Rudy's it's just like a country store very rustic but the food is good since this is not very time the order-taker asked me would you like to sample some of my food of course I said yes the brisket melt-in-your-mouth so we had the brisket BBQ ribs potato salad corn on the cob they have a section where you can get your condiments and they make they own barbecue sauce is a vinegary tasting sauce me myself I like sweet but it was still good I'll go back for the brisket and the hospitality

Wonderful. Great food and great setting

By Joe-Bob-69 |

We just drove up on this place and decided to stop in. The have the gas pumps out front too in case you want to multi-task. The layout is good and the food is excellent. We got ribs, brisket and pulled pork - it was all excellent. The sides were wonderful as well. Bought a t-shirt on the way out too!

Texas bbq

By Kevin S |

Lots of choices for bbq in Texas. This place was recommended and did not disappoint. Brisket was moist and tender ribs were flavorful and cooked just right. Not sure if this is the best in Texas but you could do a lot worse.

Best BQQ and Location of all texas!

By Irving Rangel |

The service is fast and the food is really good, i went last month with some friends just for a weekend lunch and as always, the service was fast and the food was great. I ate the brisket moist which i like the most, however i also try the turkey and the lean brisket which in my opinion they are good but a bit dry so i had to use some of the sauce they have laying at the tables (definitely make the food taste better).

Tremendous GF BBQ!!

By James G |

I have never eaten at a Rudy's, regardless of location, that I didn't have a great experience. Large variety of GF items (meats and sides). Personally I love their moist brisket the most. Had a 1/2 pound, and it was great. Their sauces are all GF as well as the majority of their sides. The only meat which isn't GF is the pulled pork. They have a dedicated GF menu, just ask them to see it. Very straightforward. They are very efficient and you are in and out quickly. You aren't waiting around for your food as the BBQ is all ready to roll. They cut it right in front of you. I always look forward to Rudy's!

Good food

By Pacco212 |

Good tasting food at decent price however not keen on seating, plating in a basket etc. I guess it's great for a bunch of guys looking for an alternative to BK or McD but could do with some upgrading to make the general feel more comfortable. Until they do that it's not a place to go for a candlelight dinner :)

Texas barbecue for meat lovers

By Anchises M |

This is a fantastic place to seat in a large shared table and have a great texan barbecue. Meat is great, well cooked and delicious. You just have to get in the line? Grab a beer, pick your side orders from the fridge and order your meal. Your meat will come in a sheet of paper (sorry, no plates here!), so you just have to take a drat and eat :) Try one of the good selection of local beers.

Amazing experience

By HensensFamilyTrips |

Looking for great BBQ , go to Rudy's. You will get your food order in a crate, pick your sides from a fridge, eat on a paper sheet instead of a plate and enjoy a fantastic experience and scruptious food. Angel the manager was very welcoming and made us feel so at home. GO and ENJOY !

Classic Good

By Lee |

Barbecue done “Texas” Right! Visited with a big group for business that had a bigger appetite. Our experience can be best described as fast, efficient and DELICIOUS! Also, very inexpensive for barbecue. Overall, must stop if you live barbecue.

Dynamite Ribs

By Brian R |

I stopped in here last night. I was here a couple years ago and had a great experience. Last night was just that all over again. I had baby back ribs, potato salad, and baked beans. I loved all of it and I'll definitely be sure to return if ever in this area again. Their barbecue sauce is out of this world!

A casual BBQ joint that won't break the bank but may not thrill the taste buds.

By Jeff W |

Rudy's is a popular family restaurant that is far from fancy, but offers generously sized portions of barbecue, pulled pork, and all the fixings that go along with it. My wife loves ribs, but found Rudy's just okay. I enjoyed the pulled pork, but the Rudy's beans were a loser for me. The layout is picnic tables so you don't have to dress up (and why would you when you're eating BBQ). I'd go back again to dig deeper into the menu, but the first experience was a bit underwhelming.

LOVE RUDY'S!!

By U6738OOjohnc |

Let me start out by saying that the best barbecue I've ever had was in Lockhart, Texas. But for an urban area, Rudy's is a CLOSE second! My wife and I got the brisket, and it was moist and flavorful. Sauces are on the table, but you may not need them. Sides were good, except for the creamed corn which was UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! They will give you your choice of bread for sopping and sharing, and you get your own drinks. Man, this place is good. If you are near one, go check it out!

Our first Texas BBQ....

By susiesnoflake |

As recommended on Trip Advisor and Yelp we stopped by at Rudy's. What a fun place - please put one in Minnesota!!!. Just the right amount of meat! I had the baby back ribs and hubby had the pork ribs. And the Rudy's sauce was just right! don't miss this place if you are in Houston!

decent barbecue but small portions

By smeghead39 |

The number of slices in each sandwich is carefully counted, and the sandwich ends up far from full. Brisket was better than pulled pork, which lacked flavor

Gas Station BBQ

By Nancy E |

I know, i know. Gas Station BBQ is amazing, it is definately something you should try and i promise you wont regret it! Its also inexpensive. I would recommend the Baked potato with Brisket,Brisket Sandwich and corn on the cobb! Oh and Banana Pudding yum

fantastic Texas bbq

By Jjjjjjjjjj1 |

We went here with two local friends. They swear this is the best BBQ joint in Houston. You know you are in the right place the minute you walk in...the aroma is phenomenal. The food definitely lived up to its reputation. Know the decor is very basic...paper sheets for plates, red/white checker tablecloths. This just added to the experience. Very memorable. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Great Atmosphere and Food.

By Jayne C |

We came here from a recommendation from family who lives here. It's the first time we came to this restaurant (we were visiting from Singapore) and I think it's a really nice place. Food tastes great, and I ordered a jumbo baked potato that was great. It was the size of a small baby.

EXCELLENT TURKEY SANDWICH/HOT CREAM CORN

By Chucuy |

Love the country atmosphere. Food is out of this world. Even though I am not a fan of barbecue not because it's not good but because I get heartburn, the turkey sandwich at Rudy's is awesome plus you have to have the cream corn which is not out there to see but you have to ask the behind the counter employees. The cream corn as a side with the pinto beans is very filling and delicious. Have to try it if you have not done so already. Prices are economical.

Difficult to get to with construction

By Trafcon |

Freeway construction the last 2 or 3 years has made this a difficult place to get to. Once you are there however it is well worth the detour. It is very good BBQ and a lot for your money. The sauces are great also.

Brisket....awe!!!

By MartyParty4 |

We stopped in for dinner after a day out and found this Rudys to be nice and clean. We recommend getting the brisket and turkey. We usually purchase some extra brisket to freeze as it warms up nicely when you have guests over for an afternoon. Our daughters love the baked potatoes and load them with butter and cheese.

Looks good

By agendab |

Quick service, i like the fact they let u taste b4 u buy I definitely had to get the moist brisket. The other was way too dry for me. Was a different experience. Would prob try again. Kind of a self serve kind of place

Really Really Enjoyable

By FmrEngr2Phd |

I hope by keeping this short I am not shortchanging the wonderful experience I had a Rudy's. I've lived in TX before so knew about TX style BBQ but it's been many years since I've been back and had a taste. With that caveat, I must say I was completely blown away by the restaurant, the smell, the layout, seeing the smoke boxes and meat being prepared, the ordering process, friendliness and helpfulness of the order takers and wait staff and last but certainly not least the food. I had the beef brisket, smoked turkey, ribs, and baked potato. They were all delicious! Great flavor balance, wonderful smoke flavor and tender. In particular the brisket and smoked turkey. In fact I don't order brisket at BBQ restaurants because so few can get the tenderness right. This was 'spot on' (stealing Myron's phrase). Of course I suspected it would be since TX does beef so well. The star of the show however was the smoked turkey. Hot, cold or warm, if there is just one thing you can or must get when you go to Rudy's, you have to indulge yourself with the smoked turkey. As I type my mouth is watering from the experience... The BBQ sauces were equally as good and matched the meat offerings. Folks do yourself a favor, especially visitors to TX who don't know what TX style BBQ is, and get out to Rudy's. To the good folks over there keep up the fantastic work!!!

Delicious BBQ

By THOMAS C |

BBQ was very good - very informal dining and the ability to order different items. Fast service. Cold beer and soft drinks available.

Awesome food!!

By Tina W |

This was exactly what I would have expected from a Texas BBQ restaurant. Before you even walk in, you can smell the meat smoking! You walk up and place your order and your order is called out and prepared right then. They have all the meats on a huge grill and you can watch them chop your bbq, slice you ribs, cut up your chicken. Better than the bbq is the creamed corn! It has to be the best corn I've ever had!!!

smoky, juicy, sause-y BBQ

By Bryant K |

Service friendly and patient, room well-laid out for self-service and meat juicy, tender and smoky with great smoke rings. Different cuts treated slightly differently so recommend trying all - brisket and short ribs highly recommended. All cuts peppery delicious alone, but sause required to add extra moisture to some cuts and add extra tang.

The Ex is gone, but Rudy's lives on!!!

By Leslie C |

I've been in Houston on business and my significant other recommended Rudy's as the best BBQ...which his Ex had recommended to him. Well, the brisket is amazing! we get the moist 1/2 lb. If your traveling and heating and cooling food is an issue, Rudy's is good, hot and cold, great for dinner, and breakfast and/or lunch the next day. I've been working so much my boyfriend has been picking it up and bring it back to the hotel for dinner, but this week I had a normal day and was able to make it to the restaurant before it closed. The atmosphere is very homey and the people are friendly. The BBQ is great. The sides are equally as good! Rudy's outlasted the ex and I'm grateful for the recommendation!

Simply delicious

By JoanatBell |

This is a must do in your bucket list. Tasty meals, delicious sides and a nice road house restaurant style will make your visit memorable. You should try cream corn, the best! Also, they sell meat trims by the pound (a bonus for big groups).

First time trying beef brisket

By 1BSHICKS1995 |

First time trying beef brisket and at Rudy’s it was moist and flavorful. Since this was our first time there they let us sample the beef brisket (moist) and potato salad and we bought both. Another restaurant we kept talking about. I travel to different places and H-town is definitely for foodies.

Good Brisket & Turkey

By Ron and Becky W |

The brisket and turkey were both great. Ribs had a unique but good flavor! I am used to having fries or onion rings as a choice of sides but had the slaw and it was good also. Liked it that they gave "first timers" samples of their dishes!

Great BBQ

By g8tortravel |

Although a chain, it is since of the best BBQ around. If you go with a group, order a little bit of everything and share. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Unforgettable BBQ

By Diego M |

I love Rudy's, I am frequent visitor and keep coming back, this is the place to bring people when visiting Houston. They have the best BBQ in town, the brisket is just perfect. Very casual atmosphere, typical American Texas informal vibe, and the prices are also very reasonable. Try it out and it won't disappoint! Any of their locations in Houston keeps the same quality.

Great brisket tacos for breakfast.

By Danbud |

Our group of three had brisket breakfast tacos chopped beef tacos, and various egg and something else tacos. All were good, but the brisket tacos were by far the best. The fresh brewed tea was good. We all enjoyed breakfast here and will come again.

Brisket was Amaazing!

By qqqwqw |

This place catered in a business lunch. I loved the brisket and potato salad. I'm really starting to become a fan of BBQ and this was some of the best.

I really enjoyed Rudy’s in

By Jason B |

I really enjoyed Rudy’s in Austin but not this one in Houston. This time I tried the prime rib. It’s Sunday at 4 pm and it seems they made it last week and are still going through it. Downright terrible and embarrassing for a bbq place to have dried out stringy prime rib. Stick to the brisket or turkey.

Great Barbecue and Barbecue isn't normally my favorite

By Dennis H |

I liked that they served samples, explained the ordering process and then provided a great meal with mild sauces for a "hot food coward". I might even eat barbecue more often

Love the BBQ!

By Jessica H |

I'm a big fan of Kansas City BBQ, but Rudy's is pretty dang good! I liked the laid back atmosphere and how they serve everything in paper wrap and a plastic tub to pick up all your stuff afterwards. The pulled pork, beans, and corn were great!!! I would come here again.

Houston's Best BBQ....A great find

By desertpeople |

You don't want to miss Rudy's BBQ. Very moist brisket... Tender chicken... all the sides were worth tasting The banana pudding was delicious. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Loved the Sissy sauce too. Will definitely return.

Great lunch

By Peter G |

Visited here for a quick lunch between meetings, great food and great value. Busy for a Monday , would visit again next time I am in town.

Yummy

By GDiggities |

Super casual. Tried the lean brisket which we thought was too dry. The baby back ribs were very good. But the star of the show was the pulled pork. Moist and delicious and everyone loved it. Had to go back for more. My one wish is for mac and cheese which would not only be an awesome complement but my picky kids will have more to eat.

KC BBQ Fan says you should give this a try.

By Snowman2232 |

As a KC BBQ fan I would say Rudy's is definitely a place you should try. The meats I had were the brisket and ribs. Compared to what I'm used to eating I would say the meat was a little under seasoned, and not terribly smokey, yet it was tender and juicy and not mushy. This would have been kind of a disappointment if the house sauces weren't so good. They were highly seasoned and complimented the meat really well. Sides, the beans I did not prefer at all, too bland, the corn was ok and the potato salad was excellent. The atmosphere gets high marks. The large open seating with long tables, along with the butcher paper for plates motif, creates a casual fun place to be. This would be a great place to take a large group.

Don't Believe the Hype

By Tom W |

Some will tell you this is the best BBQ in Texas. I've been here 5 or 10 times in 3 different locations, and I just don't see it. I'm at the point where I marked this place off my Barbeque list. Their turkey is very good, but I don't go to BBQ places for turkey. Their brisket is usually not that great. I liked their sausage alright. Their sides are okay. We get their corn on the cob typically We just had too many mediocre experiences to keep going back. For those in Katy, you'll find better barbeque at Midway.

Best Moist Brisket In Houston

By FoodnWineGuy |

I have tried a variety of BBQ in Texas. While most of it is amazing, I think Rudy's is just the most consistent. The Moist Brisket is mouth watering. The Ribs, chicken, sausage etc are all above par. The only bad thing here is that it gets crowded. Then again, a line is usually a good sign of great food.

Love the great BBQ

By C9832NXmarcuss |

I no longer live where there is a Rudys. On business trip and pleasantly surprised there is a Rudy's BBQ nearby. This is my favorite BBQ restaurant. The food is consistent great quality and service is great. This is first time to this location and food and service matched all the other Rudy's location I have been to before. Very happy to have seen the restaurant sign as I drove down the road.

Moist brisket all the way

By Runnin26 |

I'm not a big BBQ person but this place is awesome. The atmosphere isn't great but the food makes up for it. The moist brisket is my favorite but I love the jalapeño sausage & turkey. The cream corn is amazing too.

Gas station BBQ - awesome!

By yellowrose |

My all-time favorite BBQ joint in all of Houston and surrounding suburbs. I was hesitant on my first visit here because of the fact that it's also a gas station. That hesitancy went flying out the window around the time of my first taste of their BBQ. I love the moist brisket here. I also love that you have your choice of moist or not right on the menu since most places will usually give you a mixture. What else is good here? Their creamed corn and potato salad. My favorite sides here! I get them every time. Every. Single. Time. When you walk in, you pass the little "gas station" part. Keep going and you enter their huge dining area. Off to the side are rows where you get in line to put in your order. They've got drinks on ice in open coolers here. There is also a small commercial cooler containing cold sides like potato salad, coleslaw, cheese, banana pudding and more. They've also got a small section of shelves where they have their BBQ sauce bottles and turkey rub containers on display for sale. After making your order, they put it all in a tray for you right then and there. You then make your way over to the drink/condiment/utensil area. Everything is really organized here. Don't forget to tear off some butcher paper bc there are no plates here. Yeah you read that right. No plates. You find a table, lay that butcher paper on it and put your food on top of that. Kids love it!! They do have little square paper bowls to put sauce or sides in if you're sharing a big tub of creamed corn or something. Oh and they also give you slices of bread - white or wheat. No rolls here. Their bathrooms here are clean and the doors have those foot pulls on the bottom. Really great for germaphobes that don't want to touch the door handle. In the small hallway that leads to the bathrooms, there is also a long sink where you can wash your hands without having to go into the restroom. Very efficient here. In the dining areas, there are flatscreen TV's set up every so often. I don't really ever pay attention to what's on because I'm too busy eating. Another thing here is you clean up after yourself. When you're done, pack up your trash and dump it in the trash can, then put up your tray. Rudy's is a great place to come for a meal. We usually order enough to eat and have leftovers to take home. This is where we like to take out-of-town guests for their first Houston BBQ experience. It's always fun telling them we're going to eat dinner at a gas station!

Texas barbecue.

By Sightseer720140 |

We went there and everything was excellent the staff were friendly and the relaxed atmosphere was great. They have large portions for a reasonable price.

Perfect in every way

By Andrew H |

You can’t beat real Texas bbq. It hit the spot and I will definitely be back. Tell them it’s your first time (if it really is) and they’ll give you a taste of all the meats.

BBQ Heaven, but watch out for the Meat Sweats!

By BJKilleen |

This is my second time at Rudy's, and my first trip was at the recommendation of a friend. This time I brought a work group of 11 people, of whom only three had been there before. They went wild and ordered a little bit of every meat and side dish. And then they scarfed it down like a pack of starving hyenas. Which is to say the food is extremely tasty. If you're looking for diet food, you won't find much here, but I did have the pork loin and corn on the cob, and actually stayed under 500 calories, so it's doable, but not much fun. The decor is fun and funky, and there are long tables so we were able to seat everyone. I'd go back, and I think they all would as well. Plus it's a gas station, so you can fill up and get gas both outside and inside! :-D

A MUST...if you miss out you will regret it.

By Sarah D |

If you think you have had BBQ food you can guess again. This place is SOOOO freaking good. The staff is awesome the food is tasty and favorable, the portions are good this is a place you can't just go once its a multiple visit.

That turkey though....

By Jeremy W |

Smoked turkey : amazing Jalapeño Sausage : amazing Sause: amazing Beer selection : very good Service : very good Cream corn: excellent Authentic Texas BBQ experience. Highly recommend

Excellent BBQ

By alexandersS6831KX |

Rudy's is always a must visit when you are in Texas. Their BBQ are always tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Customer service has always been great.

Fast, great BBQ

By buckeyeinmd |

Wanted to get some barbeque before we left Texas and we're glad we stopped into Rudy's. There was a mix of young, old, families and working professionals when we stopped in for lunch and everyone was enjoying their food. It didn't take long to order and we weren't disappointed with the food. Not being used to ordering ribs at a counter, we didn't know what to expect. It was worth it and the next time we're in Houston, we'll be returning there.

Yum!

By Sue J |

Rudy's has in my opinion, the best barbecue! It's not a fancy place, but if you're hungry and ready to eat, it's the place for you. It's a must eat at place when I'm in Houston!

Good family style BBQ

By Bob H |

A quick, quality meal in a very casual atmosphere. The Moist Brisket, Jalapeno Sausage and ribs were all good but the brisket was the star. Recommend trying a little of everything and sharing.

Really, Really Like This Place

By GatorDWV |

My wife and I were making our first visit to Houston. In town to attend a conference for work, we landed at the Bush Intercontinental Airport, picked up our rental vehicle (a large pickup, what you have to drive when you're in TX!), got on TripAdvisor and discovered a neat sounding barbecue place named Rudy's. Had to use the GPS to get us there, but since it was a Saturday afternoon in the city, traffic wasn't a problem. Glad we made the effort because we really enjoyed Rudy's. There is definitely nothing fancy about the place with picnic-style tables. We were a little confused by the ordering process but the young lady who was our cashier was very kind and patient with us, answering our questions and helping us to get what we wanted. (Instead of ordering a meal from a menu, you select your meat of choice by the pound and pick up your sides from a refrigerator near the ordering area. It was confusing to us only because it was our first time. We will be prepared next visit!) The meat was good and tasty and the sweet tea was delicious. Definitely will eat here on our next visit to Houston.

Best BBQ in Texas

By Sharon_zz |

In my opinion, Rudy was the best restaurant in our 2 weeks Texas vacation. Rudy is the real deal. You get what you pay for. A tasty, high quality BBQ. It’s a self-service restaurant with quick moving line. The price is calculated by its weight. You can ask for the number of spare ribs, half a rack or a full one. I loved the brisket meat, and the huge baked potato. The taste is unbeatable, the best BBQ we had in Texas. No wonder that in our 3 days in Houston, we came twice. We should have come on the first night as well.

BBQ worth skipping your diet for!

By donnaadonis |

Rudys has an amazing succulant smokey flavor like no other! Their prices are fair and very low for the grade of food they offer. Quick service, good portions and if you can stay for a visit, it's full of down home charm. Don't forget about the side dishes and the sweet tea! Best pick is Rudy's when having family, out of town visitors in town and perfect choice for any business luncheon!

Fantastic BBQ

By AJadventurous |

You really can't go wrong with eating here. They have so many different kinds of meat and everything is awesomely smoked and full of flavor. Great place!

Delicious Barbecue

By shelob |

Laid back and friendly atmosphere. Delicious and cold with a variety of local beer selection. Delicious barbecue and sausages with excellent jalapeno pepper variety as condiments! A must visit for a first timer in Houston, Texas.

The champ

By JEFFREY G |

With me being a brisket fan. Rudy's brisket is by far the best brisket that I've tasted. I've been to several barbecue restaurants in Houston, to taste brisket and other BBQ Meats and Rudy's holds the title in my opinion of the best brisket in town. The other meats such as the turkey and ribs are succulent and done very well to... but the brisket is by far the star. The cream corn is also in another category from the other restaurants, it's absolutely amazing. Do not miss the opportunity when in the Houston area to have great, great barbecue.

It was ok

By JSLoveis13 |

Food was good. A little different from the one I’m used to in RR but it was good. The moist was good and the chicken was ok. The beans and potatoes were also ok. Not a huge barbecue person but the food was decent.

Awesome barbecue

By KM Days |

Just visited and it was great! Ordered de pork ribs, Turkey (ohhh the turkey) some Green Chili Stew (tasted like home) a delicious smokes potatoe and a cream corn. Everything was good. And special mention to Lainie, we were first timers and she took the time to explain the whole menu so we could order the best.

Fantastic food-you will love it

By bill b |

We went for takeout. The brisket is wonderful as is the chilli soup. The sides are amazing: cream corn, slaw. The portions are large. Friendly and helpful service for first timers

It is Rudy’s...it is always good

By yorosey |

It isn’t WOW BBQ but it is always good. I normally don’t like. Gain restaurants but Rudy’s doesn’t feel like it. It feels like a country store that serves good BBQ. If and when I am close to one I grab the usual( 1/2 pound moist, 1/2 jalapeño link and small cream corn) it is always good.

Went back for seconds!

By Stephen835 |

Took my wife and in-laws after a recommendation from a friend. Believe me you will not be disappointed. Very casual. I had the moist brisket and it was to die for. Service was great and everyone was helpful. We told them it was our first time so they gave us some samples to try. We will be going back!

Decent BBQ

By Stephonie C |

Hubby and I visited, we werent disappointed, but not impressed either. Food was average, atmosphere was ok and everyone was friendly. Im sure we will visit again. I would recommend giving it a try.

Amazing BBQ

By K effective |

Amazing BBQ, excellent coleslaw, just right sweet tea. Sauces are delicious. Unique atmosphere, courteous staff. A must visit, multiple times!

Simple food in a simple setting

By MikeFo |

Simple food (meat from BBQ) served on paper with no frills, there is very limited vegetables (the pint of beans is worth having) and coleslaw, the bread is a bit basic and bland, but it is good value overall, you can sample meats before choosing too.

Delicious and well priced

By Amanda G |

For a family of 4 we only ended up spending 27 bucks and it was all delicious. We got the turkey and lean brisket. Both were tender and had great flavor. The sauce was really good and complimented the meat wonderfully. We also got beans, potato salad, new potatoes, corn on the cob and cobbler. All that, 4 sodas, and 2 bags of chips filled us all up at a reasonable price.

Best BBQ in Houston

By George_from_Florida |

Great brisket and BBQ served country style (order by the pound or a sandwich). Our favorite in Houston.

Texas BBQ

By Coulomb67 |

I don't think that the number 1 rated BBQ restaurant on both Trip Advisor and Foursquare really needs a great review to convince you to come here but if sonn. Come here immediately and savor the Texas BBQ flavor! The meat is exceptional with a fantastic smoke flavor. It had the spiced chop and it was tangy but not overly hot. The fixins bar has jalapenos and cherry peppers for those that want the bite.

Quick Lunch

By John F |

Stopped by on way to airport. Casual dining and small crowd since we were after lunchtime rush. Moist brisket was very good along with tasty spare ribs. Very good value and worth a stop to taste some local Texas BBQ

Absolutely Delicious!

By Jeannie M |

Read reviews on Trip Advisor & decided to try. So glad we did! Everything was delicious. Manager told us to tell cashier it was our first trip & they let us sample the turkey & brisket. I chose the turkey & my husband chose the brisket. We shared the potato salad & creamed corn for sides. The creamed corn reminded us of my husband’s grandmother’s creamed corn she shucked fresh from the garden. Loved the open country type atmosphere. Everything is ala carte & reasonably priced. Plan to stop here again on our next visit to Houston.

No frills, great food

By Griso_man |

Came here with a group from work. We were served separately which was nice. I had a half pound of baby back ribs and a pot of slaw. The ribs were tender, and combined with the bbq sauce at the table (not the sissy one mind...), was lovely. Compares very well with the other bbq places in Houston

Yummy!!

By John K |

I visited at lunch time with my new boss, and we both enjoyed our meals. It is a very efficient operation.

Texas BBQ

By Mike |

Came here from Chicago and saw this on Trip Advisor with great reviews. Definitely a 5/5!! The meat was so juicy. I got the beef brisket, turkey, and the sausage. Also, the sweet corn was delicious. I don't get sweet corn or BBQ like this back in Chicago. Highly recommended!!

Best BBQ

By Judith K |

Their BBQ brisket is excellent, and the loaded baked potato with meat is to die for. The beans and the cream corn are really tasty. The line during meal times can get long, but it moves fast.

Good food; great for out-of-towners

By Tom B |

If you have someone from out of town this is a great place to go. Good food. No pretense. Quiet enough that you can talk. Laid back. Friendly.

Ok BBQ

By tleeEvans |

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. You walk up and place your order at the counter and carry it to a seat at long picnic type tables. Again you can get sides of pickles, onions and sauce at a condiment bar . Their meat is very tender and moist and has very good flavor. the coleslaw was not very good. We would recommend getting a couple of meats in the smaller amount, and maybe a pint of their potatoes to share. They will give you sliced bread if you want, that way you can choose to make a sandwich or not. Sauce is on the tables. I used the Sissy sauce, which I thought was spicy enough and had a good flavor. I would eat here again, very clean and can also fill your car up with gas after eating, as they do have gasoline, the pumps are not just for looks.

Loved it!

By Jaime T |

We really enjoyed being here. We receive a full explanation of the entire place (was our first place here), and we had the brisket. We absolutely loved it, we will definitely go back.

You MUST come here, it's amazing

By Alecia Masters |

We are just passing thru TX and came here on TripAdvisor reviews. It's amazing! We had the cream corn, green chili stew (order jalapeño sausage and cut it up and put it in there), moist brisket sandwich & spicy chop sandwich. The brisket was the star of the show! We loved every bite of everything. A family of 3 with all that food ate for $26.

Very good, but not great BBQ

By KCLBoston |

We decided to go to Rudy's based on the TripAdvisor reviews of it being the best BBQ in Houston. It was very good but not as good as Augie's in San Antonio no as good as Stubb's in Austin. It was better than Sonny Bryant's in Dallas, though. After we were given a taste (as newbies) of some turkey and moist brisket, we ordered the turkey and brisket. The brisket that we received apparently was the lean brisket which should have been fine, but it was dry and lacked flavor unless you put a lot of BBQ sauce on it. The trays that they gave you were large and clunky...they also looked difficult to clean. My friends had the moist brisket which they said was very fatty. In all of our orders, we ordered 1/2 pound and they served us almost 3/4 pound which of course we had to pay for.

Always Tasty BBQ

By Gary S |

Stopped in here for a quick bite of BBQ. For a chain type place we like what Rudy's has to offer. Good BBQ, sides, and nice welcoming staff. One of my favorites is the Green Chili Stew.

Best bbq

By Christine B |

We love Rudy's! We live in oregon and always look for a rudys bbq whenever in Texas. They are always consistent and love the meats. Our favorite is the brisket. The sides are perfect. You have to take home a bottle of sauce we use it on all our bbq at home. Excellent food no matter what part of Texas you find them in.

Delicious meat, poor sides

By Jon T |

Rudy's is an experience not to be missed in Houston. You buy the meat buy weight, served on grease-proof paper in a plastic crate. Delicious, amazingly cooked and generous. The ribs are the best in the business, as is the moist brisket! Couple that with friendly service.... BUT, the sides are an afterthought - stodgy, bland baked beans. Coleslaw like animal food. Poor bbq sauce like glorified sweetened ketchup. If anyone from Rudy's reads this review - please improve your sides and sauces! (go to Goode Company BBQ - their sides and sauce are excellent).

Outstanding BBQ with a great atmosphere.

By Doug E |

The Barbecue is awesome...stuffed baked potatoes definitely on point. The dining room reminds me of being at a big family reunion...Everyone is friendly...you just don’t know who they are!!!

Better than most.

By 409Joe |

I have gone to several Rudy's and this place is better than most. Staff is friendly and can always count on consistent food quality. Not the best BBQ but overall will satisfy any craving! Creamed corn is always great!

Graet idea and yummi food

By nadi |

I was taken to Rudy's place for the first time and I loved it. The informality, the picnic atmosphere, the good food made me feel great.

Great BBQ

By Mario C |

At first it looks like a gas station but .... the food is awesome.... i just moved to Houston from Miami and the food was great

Brisket...

By miloszek |

This is certainly must try barbeque in Houston. Grab your chilled drink, pick half pound brisket, piece of bread and salad and enjoy smoky and charcoal taste of meet.

My kind of place...

By John L |

A group of us ventured over to Rudy's for dinner during our stay in Houston. An excellent place to have an informal group dinner with a bunch of carnivores. The brisket I had was well prepared and a bargain considering the portion on my plate. The BBQ sauces were pretty tame, but flavorful none the less. Yes, the cream corn is awesome and the baked beans were pretty good too. Rudy's is an easy recommendation for those looking for a solid BBQ experience in an easy going setting.

First time, I'll come back one day

By Toby V |

I wanted Houston BBQ. After searching trip advisor for restaurants and not wanting your typical "fancy" restaurant, my girlfriend and I chose a chain. We were not disappointed. From the moment you walk in you are looked after. The guy at the door asked if it was our first time and said that because it was to tell the attendant for free samples. We had some turkey and brisket which my GF ordered. We also had a sausage and pork ribs with corn. Absolutely amazing food and worth the drive for. Went back for another pound of ribs.

Too expensive to be sub standard.

By Jason N |

This time, unlike many other times, the brisket was dry and tasteless. My buddy said it was the worst he's ever had. I wouldn't go that far but it was enough to where it'll be a long time before I go back, simply because there are so many other choices. For the price we all pay for brisket these days, it's inexcusable. Went to a mom-and-pop today (wont mention where) and there was no comparison.

Awesome!!

By Michelle L |

Every time we go to Houston we have to stop at Rudys and get my hubby' s fix. So this time we bought a bottle to bring home. Can you tell he likes his sause!!!

BBQ in a gas station

By Eric P |

That was my first thought. In a gas station. Rudy's has got it going on though. Man do they do BBQ right. I can't even tell you which meat is best. They are all so good. You have to try the Green Chile Stew, hot but worth the sting!

Excellent BBQ!!

By 19denise53 |

The food was great (beef, pork and turkey all delicious and tender). The beer was super cold and the atmosphere was awesome. The staff were friendly and patient....as we had a lot of questions. They brought out samples for us to try before ordering. Loved it!

BBQ bargain

By Leslie Y |

Tasty BBQ dinner, featuring smoked turkey sandwich. I am not a fan of turkey meat, outside of roast turkey at Thanksgiving. Meat was very moist with plenty of flavour.
