For those who don't want to wait at Franklins, this is the place for fast delicious BBQ. It's no doubt Franklin's but this is good for the amount of time you wait. The counter service is prompt, respectful, and entertaining if you're a first timer. The brisket is above average along with the Turkey and the sausage. If you do happen to get to Austin try this place before any long line waiting and then get in line. You won't be disappointed. The value is good and the food is delicious along with a fairly decent bottle beer selection.

How can you give a BBQ place that's connected to a gas station 5 bullets? Easy !! Rudy's is totally unique -- great ribs, brisket and sides. Even the desserts are good. You won't mind sitting at picnic tables. Friendly/helpful/efficient staff.

Rudy's has been my favorite for a long time ... I used to go to the Leon Spring store many years ago. I stop often to get brisket and fixin to take home and also meet friends and family there to enjoy some great BBQ. Fun family oriented place to find great BBQ. I love the extra moist brisket and the Jalapeno Sausage. Good cold Beer tops it all off.

Rudy’s ownership has changed a few years back. Pretty much flushed down the toilet. Cold food. Absolutely not what it used to be.

We are visiting Austin from Australia and had dinner here. Omg the food, service and price was amazing... We had baby back ribs that were so tender they fell off the bone. The brisket superb and we had a few sides which were all lovely! A great end to our Texas road trip....

Rudy’s BBQ is my place for takeout barbecue. I also love their breakfast tacos. The cafeteria style service and shared long picnic benches add to the experience.

There is a ton of hype around the best BBQ place in Texas and for sure there are differences....but when it comes to grabbing lunch or dinner to go on your way home or out to store, Rudys is my "go to place". The service and food quality is always great....they make it seem like they are always glad to see you!

Great atmosphere in the restaurant! Very rustic! You can choose your own food and drinks! Great taste! But it also has its price!

Great food, fast service. Love Salt Lick but hate the massive wait, so we head to Rudy's where you can be seated and chowing down in minutes, not hours.

I have visited here quite a lot on this trip, the moist brisket and the half bird and fantastic, luckily they don't sell fries otherwise i would live there. Always a nice place, kids welcome, discount for the elderly and very well run.

Every time I come to Austin this is a Must stop. The BBQ is excellent. I only get the moist brisket, but it is so good, why try something new? I don't eat the white bread, but my son LOVES it. Sides are okay, but I only come for the amazing taste of the Brisket.

We've been living in Austin for about 4 months now and people kept asking 'have you been to Rudy's?'... so we thought we'd better see what all the fuss was about. We weren't disappointed! At first we had to get our bearings and figure out how it all worked... there are tubs full of cider and beer (and possibly other non-alcoholic drinks - I didn't take enough notice to be sure) as you wind your way through the queue barrier you collect your refreshments... then right before you get to the ordering counter, you come to a fridge that holds coleslaw, potato salad and puddings.. so you can collect your cold sides there. We made it to the ordering counter and told the server that it was our first time here so we just needed a little guidance... WELL! She was so excited to hear that we were from Australia and yelled out to the team to give us a big Rudy's Welcome, to which the team responded to in unison (I actually have no idea what they said - still trying to figure out the accent - but it seemed friendly enough!). Our lovely server then proceeded to guide us through the menu and gave us some samples to try to help us make our decision. We went with 1/2 lb of brisket moist and a 1/2 lb of the St Louis ribs and a small serve of the creamed corn. They sell the meat by weight. All up including a small coleslaw, a beer and a cider it cost $29 and we were full. It was all delicious (the Rudy's BBQ sauce was the best I've had so far) and we'll definitely be back to try the Baby Back Ribs and the Pork Loin. I've also been told the banana pudding is delicious as well if you're into that sort of thing. I loved the laid back 'beer hall' style of dining too. Looking forward to returning!

Visiting a relative in Austin. This was a place that he said that we cannot miss for BBQ. We got samples of all different menu items. I didn't try the creamed corn, but everyone else said it was very good. All the meats were excellent. We had St. Louis ribs, pulled pork, dry and moist brisket, turkey, regular and jalapeno sausage. We also had the potatoes, cole slaw, and spicy beans. Everything was very tasty. I highly recommend Rudy's.

Rudy's has consistently good BBQ for a chain establishment. Service is usually good and the food is always pretty good. Service can be slow at times, but is not. Good place to eat for quick BBQ.

Although their barbecue does not disappoint, their breakfast tacos are yummy! Their green hot sauce is so good and they have several options on tacos, egg/bacon, egg/sausage, chopped beef, potato/egg. All good.

Rudy’s is the place to go for quick barbecue. The building makes you think of old fashioned country bbq. Today I went for prepared to order breakfast tacos. It was great.

best brisket ever...tender, juicy and delicious. must try. very crowded during lunch time. We 5 ordered almost everything for try and my vote goes with brisket. They come with wrapping paper, put on some special rudy's sauce...gosh! thanks god i don't live here otherwise, i am going to be really over-weight.

It reminds me of "the good old days" of barbecue without the smoke and dirt. The food is consistently good whether it's the breakfast tacos or the prime rib. Since I mentioned the prime rib - I sometimes order a few thick cuts and take them home and "sear" them on both sides. It's pricey and a very, very tasty treat. Get the small "trophy cup" for soft drinks if you're eating there as they offer free refills while you're there.

My husband and I enjoyed lunch after church at Rudy's! We shared some lean brisket, pork ribs, classic potato salad and coleslaw, and we ordered just enough for lunch! (No leftovers) We've never eaten at this Location and we were surprised at how few people there were eating! We get out of church about 11:00, so maybe we were just too early! Usually when we eat at a Rudy's it's crowded! We love Rudy's Barbecue Sause - it has a lot of black pepper in it,and I always keep a bottle at home.

We go to Rudy's a lot just because they are great at everything. Need food for 20? Call them and they'll have everything including plates and utensils as well as iced tea and ice packed and ready to go in boxes. Just lunch? Five minutes through the line and you're eating "the worst BBQ in Texas" by their sign, but great by taste.

So BBQ snobs like to say this is not better than some other places, but we love Rudy's and everyone of our guests we bring there love the food and atmosphere (BBQ joint in a gas station). Great experience and awesome BBQ.

A lot of native Austinites don't like Rudy's because its a chain. But it has always been my favorite BBQ joint in Austin. It's reasonably priced and consistently delicious. If you're visiting Austin, Rudy's will give you authentic Texas BBQ without having to wait in line for hours at Franklin's. The moist brisket and cream corn are to die for.

I found myself near here by pure chance and am SO HAPPY I did. You will be too. Delicious food all around. We had the life-changing brisket and the pork loin, as the other cuts were not ready yet. As good as the loin was, moist and delicious, the brisket was so smokey and flavorful, and soft. We were given almost an entire loaf of white bread. I refused about 1/3 of it. Ends up we probably could have used it all to make little sandwiches with the meats and tart and vital pickles and bbq sauce. (Though really, no one should have that much white bread in their body at a sitting. Just sayin'.) Anyway, this place is laid out like a wide open cafeteria/bingo hall, and there is a kinda covered opened window area that is just as big, a convenience store and to go area, and a gas station. Because Texas. The bottled drinks are retro and maybe regional with soda companies I have never heard of. We were lucky as there was a line corral, but we were the only ones ordering at the early hour 10am. For extra plates, we were offered waxed butcher paper, and this was somehow very right and worked well.

My wife and I have lunch weekly at Rudy's. Great value and friendly staff. It's a-la-carte, so you get just what you want and only pay for that much.

Recently stopped by this Rudy's location to meet a business associate for lunch. At all locations, Rudy's delivers a consistent, and better than most competitors, selection of barbecue and sides. I enjoyed my usual favs: baby back ribs, St. Louis style ribs, smoked turkey, and lean brisket. All delicious! Beans, coleslaw, and banana pudding rounded out the meal, and all sides were very good. Rudy's has done an exemplary job of adapting to the COVID-19 hysteria! The only negative aspect of the fare at Rudy's is that the rack of baby back ribs is often overcooked on the shorter end of the rack. (It's one of the most expensive items on the menu). You have to be mindful of that, and when they present you with the fare before putting it in your tray, make sure you inspect the ribs, instead of just saying "OK." I frequently ask for a few of the ribs to be replaced, and it's never a problem. I'm not sure most folks know that it's acceptable to do that. The same holds true for anything ordered at Rudy's, if there is anything not to your liking, speak up, and the staff will be happy to fix whatever the issue is. All that said, Rudy's continues to deliver quality BBQ at reasonable prices (for BBQ at least). A great place to take out-of-towners who have not enjoyed a good Texas BBQ experience.

Oh yeah, I can honestly say rudy's has the absolute best brisket I have had. I realize that taste and preferences are subjective but this place is amazing. I Travel a lot and anytime I am cruising down through Texas I make this place a stop!!!

Rudy's is a local Texas Chain. This is a excellant BBQ place where you get to choose the meats and fixin's. You can't leave here hungry for sure.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Rudy's and have for many years. Consistent and predictable are fair statements for this place. The charm of the BBQ/Gas Station/Connivence Store atmosphere is fun and a great place for groups large or small. My headline is based on my most recent visit and it's feeling just kind of average as the amazing choices of BBQ expand in the central Texas region. Rudy's has also expanded a great deal so it's easy to find a location. Now in 4 or 5 states, and locations as far west as Arizona. I like the brisket and ribs here and taking a bottle of rub home with usually happens as well. Solid choice in the maze of BBQ options.

Some of the best BBQ I have ever had. You can't go to Texas without having brisket. It is tender and fantastic. I love the creamed corn also. Just fine BBQ in a casual dining atmosphere.

It was a great choice stepping in this place. You can feel the Texan mood as soon as you enter. The ribs are excellent!! Must try!!

Ribs were good but did not care for their sauce. Potato salad was good. Meat sold by the lb. only. No sandwiches, they give you white bread to make your own. Served in baskets with wax paper sheets for plates.

I have been to Rudy's a bunch of time over the years and enjoy it every time. The brisket is decent. The ribs are pretty good and falling off the bone. I did not have the sausage this time but remember it is good from the last time I was there (about 4 years ago). For a quick meal that is reasonably prices, it is pretty good (even if it is in a gas station).

I was brought here for lunch the first time I was in town, and I had my reservations about a gas station bbq....but I quickly saw that it was legit. Great selection, excellent service, friendly staff, and it was clean. I go every time I am in town now.

Prior to going to a meeting at Concordia University Texas, my brother and I stopped in at Rudy's County Store and Barbecue on Ranch Road 620 for breakfast. We each had a couple of breakfast tacos, which were made to order. We did not have to wait in line to place our orders and our breakfast tacos were ready almost immediately and were delicious. We found all the employees with whom we had contact to be friendly and helpful. We will return.

I love that you can get good Texas BBQ in a gas station/country store/ restaurant. No frills just good old fashioned bbq joint. Because I was a rookie. First time visitor they game me some samples to try out to see what I wanted. Nice touch. Good bbq at good price. Really really friendly staff.

Our friend referred us to this place first try, we love it! The moist brisket is so moist and tender, the creamed corn is amazing! The place is clean and the staff are very very friendly!

Rudy’s is my barbecue choice most of the time. Food is quick, good and predictable. I enjoy the variety. There is a location near you wherever you are. I do wonder about a change: the last two times I picked up barbecue to go there was no bread offered. That degrades the rating from excellent to the next one down. Still very good!

Its like a big cafe, order your ribs chicken brisket or sausage by the pound or fraction , sides, drink, grab your tray , sit down and chow down. Take a few napkins, you'll be drooling before your even seated it smells as good as it taste. :-)

Of course Rudy has some amazing cream corn! We love this place, but it’s a little different from Houston. Usually in Houston they have sissy sauce and Rudy sauce but they only had Rudy. They also don’t have bbq beans (sweet) but they have beans there. Taste the same as Houston! The meat is always tender and moist.

If you love barbecue and looking for something different then this is the place for you. Table service was not available so you have to go thru a fast moving line where you order your food and they give it to while you stand at the counter. The plastic bags of water hanging over your head are not some kind of cowboy shower - ask a local about them.

Lost its magic since being bought out. Have gone here for years. Recent visits we find flavorless brisket and ribs, starchy corn that was like hominory drenched in a sugar sauce, no flavor potato’s or coleslaw. So disappointed The extra moist used to have a layer of fat embedded in the meat and not it’s a layer outside of the meat. Gross. Not going back

Looking for a real Texas BBQ experience and we found it here. It starts with mandatory sampling of the BBQ if it's your first time before ordering by an enthusiastic crew. Then ordering by the pound, add some sides and your enjoying great BBQ in a bright clean atmosphere. It's pretty clear these folks have something special going here - clearly posted mission statements on the walls and a unique culture as evidenced by engaged staff. A quick Google search revealed the parent company (K&N Management) had previously won the coveted Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Two regrets - I wished had restaurants in Michigan and I wished they were publicly traded so I could invest. Check these guys out.

While there is nothing fancy about Rudy's, it is just first rate food. I loved the smoked turkey breast and could eat it for three meals a day. The prices are not cheap, but the quality makes up for it. A lot of the glass bottled sodas are on/in ice which is a nice touch.

It was an order at the counter, pay, and take your order to the table establishment. At the table were bottles of different sauces. The food was good and reasonably priced. We had smoked turkey sandwich with a side of slaw, and a pulled pork sandwich with a side of potato salad.

But seriously, this is a Texas must-visit! Amazing, fresh, tangy, spicy, charred, etc etc etc. All the best parts of barbeque, from pulled pork to brisket to the classic sides. Try to save room for some banana or chocolate pudding, and wash it all down with fresh-brewed sweet tea. Love this place, and the friendly staff make the whole experience that much more enjoyable

Back fro another stint in Austin. Love Rudy's. When in TX, you have to go with Brisket and Rudy's does it the best. The Creamed Corn side is great too. The beans, not so much. Wich they had a couple of choices for BBQ sauce, but otherwise, very happy.

Rudy’s BBQ is the place I go for barbecue and their sides. The many barbecue options as well as breakfast tacos make it an easy choice.

My favorites are the "moist" brisket and the cream corn. I consider this the best BBQ in the Austin area. The cream corn could double as a dessert. Casual, roomy and clean dining area. Eat off picnic tables with paper towels and brown paper for your food. Lots of choices for both meats and sides. Pull your ice cold drink from coolers of ice. Fun eating experience with great food. Good place to meet friends or business clients. They have a great "to go" program and catering. I have used their "to go" package to serve folks in my office lunch on many occasions. Also a big hit.

I was in town for work and was craving some BBQ and after reading the reviews for this place I had to try it. The place was packed on a Tuesday night which was a good sign. I had the ribs, brisket, and sausage and all of it was really good. The brisket was a little dry but still better than anything I can get in SC. I also had the cream corn as a side and it was probably the best that I have ever had. I would go back again.

Recently spent a couple days in north Austin and quite enjoyed the very good BBQ at Rudy's on North Farm 620 Rd. for lunch. This is neat place to meet up with friends and family for BBQ. During lunch, we enjoyed both the dry and moist brisket, pork ribs along with a side of potato salad, sweet corn. Orders are taken and fulfilled at the counter. You can sample the meats and order by weight. They stack up your orders in a basket which you take to one of the long communal tables to enjoy. Baskets include pickles, onions and unlimited slices of bread. Rudy's BBQ sauce is available at the tables or the condiments counter. In short, I enjoyed everything served. The BBQ and sides were all very good. I also liked the casual seating area, a great setup for meeting with friends and family. They even have a playground area for children which is great if you have little ones who need to be entertained while your enjoying your meal. In the end, this was a rewarding lunch and a great introduction to Rudy's BBQ, which has over 30 franchises around Texas and other Midwest. I would happily dine here again next time I'm in the Austin area and will keep an eye out for other Rudy's franchise during future visits to the States.

We usually go to the location on Hwy 183 North, although we've been to the Round Rock & RM 620 locations. But what we have to say holds true for all our visits at all these locations, including this last one. (Since they aren't listed, we putting our review here.) We are always greeted and served by very friendly staff, and that is not the case for many chain establishments. And the BBQ, it doesn't seem to matter what you pick, the meats are always great. My favorite is the moist brisket, a little more expensive, but worth it. To me it's so flavorful you don't need any sauce, and you can literally cut it with a fork. Speaking of sauce, their BBQ sauce is good, but not exceptional. Same goes for the sides, except the creamed corn which is fantastic. Is it the best BBQ in Austin? Probably not, but it's a very close 2nd, and you don't have to wait an hour to get it. Tip of the hat to Rudy's for being True Texas!

Don't let the outside fool you. The food is delicious, great barbecue and brisket. A must see if you are visiting Texas - Rudy's has numerous locations around town. Picnic table type restaurant with red/white checkered table covers.

There was a time when Rudy's had some appeal, but the overwrought seasoning of their brisket has really grown old. I think there are many other places wihtin the Austin area that have ratched up their BBQ by relying more on using the right wood and cooking process as opposed to a bunch of paprika and black pepper. The side dishes are really flat - even the pinto beans. I think they have scaled back on the detail that went into them. I tried the prime rib recently hoping it would be a better choice than the brisket….big disappointment. The meat was over done - cooked too long.

Try it at any of their locations, and you will get the same quality and value, either the brisket or the bird, and any of the sides.

We used the carryout. The food was hot and tasted very good. We had Beef, Turkey, and potato salad. It also reheated very well. The family from Texas we stayed with said Rudy's is the best BBQ in Texas.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Great food. All the options. Brisket. Turkey. Short ribs are my current favorite. The created corn is to die for, but cheating cook uses a lot of cream. Try the short ribs and sauce. You will NOT be disappointed

Rudy's has fantastic BBQ and the service is incredible! The sides are the downfall as almost all other BBQ restaurants in the Austin area have better side choices (Green Mesquite, Pok-E-Joe's, etc, for example). However, if meat is your deal, the sausage, ribs and beef are incredible and make sure to get extra bread to make your massive BBQ sandwich!

Quality can be spotty at times but we usually can't go wrong with the extra moist brisket. Meat is trimmed well so has the right proportion of fat to lean. Potato salad and creamed corn is good, other sides are adequate. This is my favorite Rudy's location in the CenTex.

Authentic Texas BBQ with a great flavour and good prices. Portions are generous. Don't leave without trying the brisket

Texas has amazing BBQ. I considered Rudy's in Austin my favourite. The brisket was delicious and absolutely everything we ordered was yum! The manager was awesome and even showed us how they cooked the meat there on site.

Honestly the best prepared brisket you could ask for. Brisket ♥️Consistency is the key, perfect smoke, tenderness & flavor every time! Not to mention the sause is our favorite one. Perfect tanginess, consistency and spice. The sweet corn is so rich & creamy. The potato salad is spot on. I only wish we had one in our town.

Rudys is a chain of restaurants, all over Texas, I love their beef, but almost always go for their smoked turkey! It is the BEST!

They are now everywhere in Austin and beyond. Always attached to a gas station. Completely overrated. Most of the locations are dirty and poorly kept. If you decide to sit outside or sometimes even inside during the summer you’ll be swarmed with flies. There are much better barbecue establishments to enjoy in Austin Texas and throughout the state.

Rudy’s is my go to barbecue. The venue and layout are excellent. The service is efficient. The food is excellent. Go there.

Worst meal I've ever had. I ordered pulled pork and it came in a half filled styrofoam cup with some sliced white bread on a tray...for $6.50 I was so hungry after I ate it. Sides are all extra at this place Texas Road House offers twice as much pulled pork with baked sweet potatoe and corn for 8$. Also Roadhouse pulled pork is less fatty. This is the first and last time we go to Rudy's. Very very disappointing.

Ordered a full rack of baby back ribs to go. When I took the first bite, I found these were some of the worst tasting ribs I have ever tasted. They were over salted to the point that they were inedible. A firm of this size should have some control over the seasoning of their meats which made this dish totally a throw away. After ordering a full rack,, it was obvious they had just cut little pieces of ribs from a variety of ribs as there were more small overcooked ribs than the normal rack would have. With the higher price for this cut of meat, it was not worth it to get a less than edible strewn in with additional pieces that were probably headed for the restaurant throw away area.

Don't worry about dressing up when you are headed to Rudys! The interior has a big, rustic cabin feel with neon bar signs and Texas memorabilia. The tables are long, communal dining ones with red checker cloths. Plates? Forget about it! Diners are given wax paper and are expected to clean their area after eating. The food is wonderful though - especially the beef brisket and the roast chicken. They also have excellent ribs, sausage, cream corn and bbq sauce. I was less keen on the turkey (a bit dry) and the new potatoes. Beer and soft drinks available. Great for families and to bring Texas visitors.

What can one say about some of the best BBQ in the state. Moist brisket is to sell ones would for. Along with the sausage, ribs and the sides. (Can’t forget about them). Settled in for a great meal and wasn’t disappointed. Even better next day. Don’t miss this spot.

Weve eaten at this regional barbecue chain for many years but probably due to the dramatic increase in population, and Id assume increased business for Rudys, the quality seems to have gone slowly downhill. Id rate it on a par with the local Salt Lick chain....average.....sometimes good, sometimes less than average with overcooked dry meat.

First time eating here and all I can say is - yummy! Such great smoke on the meats. Try the jalapeño sausage. Great sides. And the staff were friendly and upbeat - you can tell they love their jobs! If it's your first time let them know...you get a cute surprise! Will definitely return. 😊

I have never had a bad meal here. Outstanding brisket, sausage and turkey. Fast, friendly service and don't forget the BBQ sauce. The meat is good enough without it, but it's flavorful and adds a nice kick.

Rudy's was suggested by locals and did not disappoint. Upon telling the staff that we had never been, we were given a run down of how to order and generous samples of the most popular items. When asked if we could give the extremely helpful staff a tip, we were told that our satisfaction was tip enough.

Had a great expeience and super layed back. Good bbq and lots of fun service. People really cared how our expeirence was and we apprwciated that. Thanks!

Breakfast taco prices are decent - about 2 bucks each with two choices. Brisket price is good - about $ 20 a pound. Moist is a bit more expensive but is worth it. No long wait.

Rudy's is great. I have been becoming to this location since it opened. I've had most of the food. The smoked turkey and chicken are my favorite. Our church gets breakfast tacos form this Rudy's. You can also get them in a cup if you are gluten free.

Stopped in here for a bite on my way to Lake Travis. Wanted to sit and stay forever enjoying my brisket and spicy sauce. Potato salad, cole slaw, banana pudding, its all good. No, actually its all great!

Awesome food, we were new to Austin and the welcome was so unexpected but very welcoming, great staff and fast no wait at all

I highly recommend the chopped taco from their daily taco shelf, it's so amazing for breakfast! Almost every weekend we stop for a chopped taco (all other food is great here too) - LOL so good I had one this morning.

I have had all the "popular" bbq.. but still find Rudy's consistent in flavor and service. Always have great staff and always willing to give you a taste before you buy. The brisket and the pudding are the bomb!

As this was our first visit, we were given samples of the meet and sides by extremely friendly staff member. EVERYTHING was mouth watering. We went wih ribs and brisket, would absolutley come back for the turkey and sausage. NomNom.

Never miss going to Rudy"s when visiting Austin. There are many places to enjoy BBQ in Austin, but my favorite is Rudy"s. Great for kids, outdoor screened porch. Many locations to choose from.

I always stop here. Great BBQ. Love this place. My favorite is the brisket/sausage combo, potatoes salad and beens. I get it every time. Thank you guys for never disappointing me.

Rudy’s bbq is where I go for take out of whatever we want that they serve. I also go for very good breakfast tacos. Dining in is simple at shared tables. The help is always cheerful, helpful and efficient. Give Rudy’s a try.

Rudy’s is where I go for barbecue, but mostly for take out. The food has a variety of options and they are all good. The place offers in house seating and is always spotless. The service is always friendly and excellent. My family loves their sauce.

This is a super spot - ideal for a quick supper. Juicy meat and wonderful bread. There is a simple choice and everything is delicious. The BBQ Sauce is well worth the price.

For our first trip to Texas you have to have BBQ and our family recommended Rudy's,and it really hit the spot.Fantastic friendly service, some of the best ribs we've had meaty, smokey, and tasty.Pulled pork was good,as were their sauces.Loved the "country store" atmosphere.

You can never get a bad meal here. The BBQ is some of the best in Texas, and if you want great breakfast tacos this is the place! Employees are always friendly and helpful. The owner obviously takes pride in Rudy's because it is one of the cleanest places and cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen. Keep up the good work!

Rudy's was recommended by many folks as a place to get good BBQ. I was not disappointed. The staff was friendly and welcomed me as a "rookie". Went back several times.

Rudys BBQ was recommended to me as a substitute for Franklins, because the lines there were insane. At Rudys the Brisket was dry, Turkey did not have any smoke flavor and the Ribs were decent. During my week in Texas, I was able to try multiple BBQ joints from Dallas, San Antonio and Austin. I have to say none of the places really impressed. I guess, I have to stick it out and stand in line for hours at Franklins, to do a final review of Texas BBQ.

I am in town for business and was craving BBQ. Rudy’s was close to my hotel. I got some brisket and sausage to go. It was delicious! The only thing I wish is that they offered French fries.

Probably the best brisket and chicken i have ever tasted. I couldn't find fault with the place, gets a bit noisy is the worst thing i can come up with, and that's down to everyone having a good time. Staff helpful and friendly. Will definitely go again on my next trip.

We stopped at Rudy’s for some breakfast. They have a good selection of grab and go breakfast tacos or you can get in line and have them made to order. I had a grab and go bacon and egg taco plus a “spicy chop” consisting of chopped brisket and bbq sauce. Along with fresh coffee, we had a delicious breakfast!

We are in the area so take out from Rudy's about once a month. We also grab some breakfast tacos from time to time. I recommend Rudy's, not as the best BBQ you've ever had in your life, but extremely convenient, fast, affordable enough, and a perfect take out meal when you need to serve a bunch of people fast. Sausage is good. Ribs are usually really good but have a lot of pepper. Brisket is average to above average. Sides are average. Sauce is really good. Again, there are places with better sides. And destination BBQ joints that are better. But for the price, convenience, REALLY good service and good employees, speed and quality, its a great neighborhood stop.

Wow this is delicious brisket and I also loved the rack of lamb. I think the free bread is a wonderful treat. Everyone I saw was enjoying it. The line went quickly. Potato salad was very juicy. I would come again! Credit card facilities, WiFi, restrooms, outdoor seating, parking in the gas station.

Rudy's has done it again. On June 21st 2022 Rudy's opened their newest restaurant in Tucson, AZ. My wife and I went there for lunch. I was not disappointed. The food was excellent. The staff is excellent. We waited in line for about 20 min. If you are visiting Tucson this is definitely a restaurant to put on the top of your list!

Pretty casual. Wait in line, pick up your drink, order (then they ask if a loaf of white bread is enough) pay and find a wooden table.

I love Rudys! Beef brisket and creamed corn..mmmm.... seriously you HAVE to try their creamed corn! Their sauce is fantastic and the brisket is so tender it falls apart. You might want the brisket because its healthier, but if you go..jusy go all out! The regular is moist and delicious and Perfect!

Since moving out of Texas, there are basically two restaurants that we must visit every time we come back, and Rudy's is one of them. In my opinion there is no better barbecue to be found anywhere. We especially like their lean brisket. Wish there was a Rudy's in northern Colorado!

Excellent Food . Nice Atmosphere . Decent Pricing . No wonder it is the favorite of Austin people . I visted there twice

100% worth the hype! The brisket was incredible and make sure you don't go light on the sissy sauce! Sides were delicious but without a doubt make sure you get yourself the creamed corn!

Rustic ranchhouse atmosphere with big portions of meats and sides served on paper. Huge Frisbee friendly back "yard", kids playground, outdoor dining, porch dining and a dining room feature long rows of tables and self serve drinks. Short on formality and long on friendly and family, their barbequed meats are tasty and lots of beverage choices are in the huge ice troughs just inside. Prices are reasonable and sauces are great. Don't let the gas station looks fool you, Rudy's is real! As in real good.

We stop here about once a month or so, and usually have the BBQ chicken. Many other only offer beef or pork, so we make the trip here when we want the birds. It's fast friendly and usually busy.

Prices are high at this place. Gas price, food price, beer to go price, etc. The best value is the sausage breakfast taco. They use cut up sausage link.

We tried a little of everything on our visit from Georgia. BBQ pork was great with no sauce added, as well as turkey, both types of brisket both types of sausage. Only item that wasn’t up to the other items was the baby back ribs, they were average. Sorry but Fox Brothers in Atl has better ribs in my opinion. But this place is great to eat at, definitely will visit again. The corn was very good also. I would highly recommend.

I went to a lot of BBQ this week, and this was it. This was the best one for the price. The sides were fresh and the meat was beyond anything I had before.

Some of the best BBQ in the Austin area. High quality meats and don't forget dessert. Even if lines are long, you move through quickly. Service is always great and with a smile.

Great food and atmosphere! Stand in line for cold drinks on ice, side dishes and a counter where you can watch the meat being cut! Lean brisket is fabulous, new potatoes, cream corn, banana pudding! Everybody eats at picnic tables on a screened in porch with country music blaring. Wax paper place mats, food in baskets spread all over the table. Great experience, great price!

This is the place for your stop for BBQ especially when we are going to tailgate at the football games. Always good.

dont get me wrong people... this bbq is hands down better than anything I can get inn my neck of the wood (CA), but there is a legendary place I was looking for ... (some light bulbs just went off in peoples heads and they know what I am talking about).... but I am not gonna say it....but this place is very good. you will not be dissapointed (get some baby back rinbs).

When visiting a friend in Austin who offered to take me to a great BBQ place, I was slightly surprised to pull up to a gas station roadside place-but it was an authentic casual restaurant I would recommend to anyone wanting to try a local place. You order at the counter-they cheer if it's your first time there and offer free samples of the different meats and sides! You order the meat by weight and then choose sides-I had the beef brisket and red new potatoes and baked beans. You put your own sauce on at the tables (or you can do take out) and it's self serve drinks(beer and soft drinks-wide variety!) very reasonable prices! Seating inside and out! Friendly servers, too!

Rudy’s is where I go for barbecue. They have limited offerings but do them very well. They combine gas and connivence store with excellent barbecue. The service is walk up ordering and communal seating. I like the place and the food.

Visited 2016-11-11. 4-item cup, 3-item cup, two refills, $8.36. Cooked properly. Tasty. Excellent place for breakfast. Staff is professional, attentive, and friendly. Will return.

I visit Austin from time to time on business. I make it a point to visit Rudy's as many times as possible. They simply have the best beef brisket I've ever had. My choice is a half pound of brisket extra moist. The homemade sauce is phenomenal and the baked beans are excellent. Their banana cream pudding is simple as a dessert but it is very fresh and delicious. When it comes to bbq, Rudy's is the best.

The concept is very nice, the meet, the beverage and the environment make this place a good place to eat and spend time with friends.

This is our usual take-out place for BBQ and it is always solid. Just noticed they installed a play scape, once the weather cools down we will probably actually eat in!

All Rudy's outlets in Austin (there is one in Houston I haven't tried, but can't wait to) serve the best tasting BBQ I have ever experienced. And I grew up in Texas, home of the tastiest spiciest BBQ amongst all the great BBQ traditions. You can get it lean or marbled. The slaw, beans, pudding, and beer are also tasty. You can also fill your car with gas and your glove compartment with junk food.. There are so many great places for BBQ in Austin, you almost can't go wrong; but Rudy's is THE BEST.

Fantastic BBQ No state does BBQ better than Texas. A large group of us went there first Friday night of the month ( which coincided with Good Friday ). This translated to a quiet atmosphere ( rare on a Friday night ), where we had the place pretty much to ourselves. We ate chicken, brisket ( lean and fatty ), sausages, cole slaw and potato salad outside on the picnic tables with the beautiful moon overlooking our feast. Even brought some brisket back to Cali for the hubby who loves BBQ.

Eating on PAPER! Love it! The bbq platter ordered for 5 came with an entire LOAF of BREAD!!! Ribs were great and so was the brisket! Ordered potato salad and cole slaw as sides which were good, but not needed. Atmosphere very southern BBQ.

The meats and sides are pretty good for what it is - franchise BBQ. However, if you make a large order for a party or event, beware that rudy's may drop the ball, badly. The sad part is that they really should take the $300 orders the most seriously, but in my case, they lost the order and all my guests had to wait an additional 45 mins while we tried to figure out what happened to my order, and then redo it from scratch. It was infuriating that they acted put-out, like they didn't really even believe I had made the order in the first place, and then not much of an apology. I think they threw some corn in for free (LOL). Next time will be Stiles Switch for me...

I like Rudy’s brisket and breakfast tacos. Everyone seems to find something they like here and we consistently go back. I really like the BBQ sauce and have a quart at home I use on BBQ chicken. Not a fan of how they do the sides, but not a big deal. Overall good value and an easy quick meal.

We were trying to go to the Michelin star Interstellar bbq but the 2 hr wait was not palatable. This spot which is some of texas peeps go to was walk in and I’m sure it wasn’t that far off the quality of the michelin bbq. Really good and tender meat. The chili was awesome!!!

Liked this place. Certainly not fancy but a BBQ shouldn't be anything other than a "joint." Had the brisket and the turkey. Both were tender, moist and flavorful. Cole slaw was good. Beans not so much. Counter staff was great, offering some samples. Fast, friendly and fairly priced.

This is a nice family place, with good food. I'm not a BBQ connoisseur, but seemed OK to me. Minor complaint - the BBQ sauce did not come out of the bottles very easily. There is also a nice playground out back for kids up to 12 years old.

I was told to visit Rudy's and try their cream corn---so I did last night and man o' man was it great. The lady at the counter knew it was my first time so she walked me through the ordering process and gave me and my group some samples to try to help with our selection. YUM YUM YUM I had the extra moist and a pint of cream corn others in my party had the chicken and brisket. Everybody was drooling over the food and we talked about it all day today. I plan on hitting them for lunch tomorrow before I head back to Dallas. You must go and try this place, I am told they have many location in Austin. Plus don't forget to try the mind blowing cream corn.

This is a great place to enjoy barbecue. There are so many similar places popping up but I tell you that nobody makes the creamed corn quite like Rudy's. Everything is a la cart so don't go over board of your by yourself. But if you are with a group go for the pint size sides and share. All in all this is a great laid back place to tie on the feed sack.

This is always on our list of must-eat-at places. Order at the register, carry your meal to the indoor picnic tables in a milk crate, eat your food off butcher paper. Love it, love it, love it. I always order brisket. The meat is so tender you don't need a knife. Besides, I put it on bread and top it with pickles and thick creamed cream for my own special sandwich.

I have been to Rudy's twice last month when I visited Austin, TX. I have had the beef brisket and the St Louis style ribs. Fall off the bone goodness with those ribs. Great rub and the perfect blend on the BBQ sauce. The brisket with the extra marbling is my favorite brisket. So very juicy and flavorful. Another favorite of mine are the creamed corn and the whole dill pickles. Both most excellent compliments to the pork and beef fare that is available there. One just wants to keep tasting it. It is good to take home and all reheats quite well, which I always end up doing. I hope you get to visit there and enjoy!!

Had lot of fun here and the BBQ was delicious! The hot sauce wasn't so hot... but the Sissy sauce was hot hot hot! And if your a newbie - let them know :)

Nice smoked meats with all the usual sides. Good for take out. The brisket is outstanding but stay away from the NEW prime rib steak. (Overpriced at 12.99?half pound and not all that wonderful.) Links are iffy and better elsewhere.

This is the BEST BBQ in Texas! Normally order a half link of sausage and a half pound of brisket for the main coarse. Get new potatoes and coleslaw for side and pudding for dessert. There is a playground for kids and an outdoor seating patio. I love it here and will always come back!

I've been to a handful of Rudy's in the state...this one had the best lean brisket of all. Love Rudy's!!

For a chain, this place serves up really good Texas BBQ. Consistent quality and casual atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Rudy's is always a safe choice for quality.

Very good bbq brisket, excellent coleslaw. Skip the prime rib, it's not worth the price, not seasoned.

I love to get BBQ to go here. We were hosting a bunch of friends and we all needed to bring a dish to share and we decided to get the brisket and the cream corn. It is very good, and very fast. Their to go orders are easy and you can order the meat by the pound which is nice. Their BBQ sauce is really good also. We used the beef brisket to make some sandwiches also. I like how the staff here are so friendly and they make it a big deal when people travel from far away to try their restaurant. Hope this helps!

We ate here on a recent trip to Austin. They give tastes of the different kinds of meat to help you decide. And there was a great outdoor eating area. Exactly what a bunch of Chicagoans needed in January to beat the winter blues!

We had a Great time as a family gathering. We came to Texas to visit family. We always plan to have a meal at Rudy's. As usual the meal was Great! The beef was moist and tasty. We also enjoyed the sides of potato salad and creamed corn. I have never had cream corn as good as theirs.

The BBQ does not get any better. Try the juicy brisket or the sausage. The atmosphere is unique with long tables covered by white paper. All food is ordered, paid for and delivered at the counter. They do a large takeout business also.

I had never visited any of this chain before, but decided to give it a try. It was off-putting at first, as it looked as though it was just a part of a gas station and car wash. Going inside didn't do a lot to dispell that image. It was set up like a large cafeteria, not unlike some others I have visited in Texas (Schmitt Family BBQ and Chappell Hill), but those were exceptionally good. This place serves you your choice of meats in a large plastic crate line with your "plates", which are folded pieces of paper. The meat is weighed and is pricey. Knowing nothing about it, they suggested that 1/2 lb. is typical for a lunch...really? The meats were sliced and priced separately, and brisket was about $8.49 for 1/2 lb, while prime rib (with several oz of fat) was about $11.99 for 1/2 lb. All sides, including teeny cups of cole slaw (about $2.49) were sold separately, as were drinks. The condiment area (with plastic forks, spoon, and knives) was in the corner, where pickles were free. Then you take your crate to a common long table and try to eat off a piece of paper, while using the giant BBQ sauce bottle on the table. Other BBQ places we have tried at least have a roll of paper towels on the table, but this place provided a waxed paper-like array of brown paper meant to be used as napkins. In the first place, 1/2 lb is more meat than I would have for a lunch, so that was expensive. Secondly, just trying to moisten the meat with the giant bottle of BBQ sauce was an effort, and trying to cut the meat on the now wet paper was a mess. The pickles weren't any type of dill I have tasted, and just tasted bitter. The BBQ sauce wasn't too interesting to either of us, but the meat was generally good and pretty tender--although not particularly tasty. But the bill was over $32 for a lunch eaten on paper at joint tables--I could have had a much nicer experience for the money, with nicer sides, drinks, atmosphere, etc., elsewhere. This sort of experience is not something I will repeat...it was expensive and not wonderful on any level. While the meat was good (but somewhat bland), there is certainly more to a meal, even for a carnivore. Maybe as a to-go for just the meat, but probably not.

I stopped in on a Friday at 10:05 and was surprised that breakfast burrito's are done being served at 10:00, they were nice about it and they still have quite a few at the grab and go and I picked up 8 of them. The chopped beef was fantastic as usual but the sausage and egg and bacon and egg were off. Possibly because they had been sitting there way too long but they just seemed slapped together and were pretty lousy. Lesson learned, get there nefore 10:00 or be stuck buying old food.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The brisket and creamed corn were out of this world. Loved the relaxed backyard atmosphere!

OMG !!!! I love this place !!! If your looking for fine china dont go , but if your looking for GREAT food its a must !!! The Brisket is to die for ! well all the food is to DIE for !! there was 7 of us and we The corn is wonderful I need the recipe for sure . We even had left overs , wish i had taken some home to Illinois with me . Ive been there twice and will go back every time Im in Austin Texas

What a find. Excellent BBQ at a very reasonable cost. A very large dining area with no frills, but damned fine food. Lots of parking and you can even gas up your car on the premises. Stand in line, place your order, take it to your table and ENJOY.

Overall Rudy’s BBQ is conscientious, reliable and very good. The variety of smoked meats is vast and the sides are more than adequate. I go for the barbecue.

Rudy’s BBQ again lives up to my high expectations. Today I went for breakfast tacos. The location is very accessible and their service excellent. The tacos were made to order by me selecting ingredients from their menu. They were excellent. You can also get pre made tacos and sandwiches.

Have visited Rudy's a few times with family and friends. It is a great place to enjoy the Texas BBQ without breaking the bank. The decor and atmosphere is unique. The people are very friendly and provide great suggestions. We have tried their Chicken, Turkey and sausage all were very good. Coleslaw is great as well. We tried the cream corn.. Was not our thing. We will be back and looking forward to doing this often.

BBQ best!! It is a busy, relaxed bbq spot with great food! I had the pulled pork and creamed corn. The pork didn’t even need bbq sauce. I also ordered the chocolate pudding but had no room left 😊. There is a gas station and overflow parking around the back if needed. Much more relaxed and easy-going than the other bbq restaurants we tried.

This was my first BBQ in Austin and it was really good. Food was delicious, customer service was lovely and the place was nice and clean. It's also very good value for money. I would definitely eat there again!

They are fast and efficient. BBQ is always so good, great beans, potato salad and coleslaw is always a plus.

I loved this place and found it as good as if not better than many more expensive barbecue places, dont be put off by it being part of a petrol/gas station you'll be missing out if. It's great quality and I will definitely return, the brisket is lovely as are the ribs but the creamed corn is something I thought I wouldn't like but its great and a must try, I went to the one on Ranch road near Lakeway and the staff were great. Tell them it's your first visit when you order and all the staff burst out "Rookies on the line" and then let you taste both types of brisket and the corn

Rudy's is an Austin legend and the outpost on Rt 620 lives up the billing. In fact we found this Rudy's a bit better than the flagship store. The moist brisket is to die for and the cole slaw and potato salad were stellar.

The foods excellent and the staffs are friendly and fast and location are awesome and price affordable and great for hang out with friends and family

Although Rudy's BBQ has a wide selection of meats, including turkey, ribs, and sausage, we always go for the brisket. We are in Austin frequently and try to include at least one visit to Rudy's to gorge on their beef brisket. Service is quick and if it is your first visit, they take the time to explain the differences in the types of brisket they serve. Certainy informal with picinc benches under screened cover, you can "go country" eating with your hands around a piece of white bread piled high with tasky brisket....or use a knife and fork it that is your style. Pleanty of free pickles and raw onions, too. Nice selection of soft drinks and a variety of bottled beer. Handicap accessible.

Rudy's is a regional chain. However, it's some of the best BBQ around. The moist brisket and St. Louis style ribs are my favorite. My kids love the cream corn.

Rudy’s is my go to barbecue place. The cafeteria set up makes for easy service. Communal seating is also nice. Take out is a regular for me. The food is excellent and venues are very goo.

Prices are high in this place. Gasoline price, food price, beer takeaway price, etc. The best value option is the Sausage Breakfast Taco. They use sliced sausage.

While visiting Austin, Tx I was treated to lunch at Rudy’s BBQ and Country Store. We ordered some brisket, ribs, chicken, sausage, and prime rib along with sides of cole slaw and potato salad. The meat was cut right in front of us so we knew it was fresh. When we sat down, the meat was very tender and tasty. This has just begun to be a favorite now.

We stopped into this Rudy’s for breakfast tacos. We like Rudy’s because the food is very consistent among locations. The breakfast tacos were fresh and very good. Overall cleanliness: excellent Bathroom cleanliness: above average. One odd thing for this location- the bathrooms are much smaller than other Rudy’s locations.

What a crazy place to eat. Very casual. Picnic tables with paper for a plate. The brisket melts in your mouth and the creamed corn and red potatoes are delicious. Quick, easy, and delicious!

From Texas but live in Colorado now so when we can we go back to get BBQ at Rudy's. It's fast, fresh and great flavor. Their sides are also good.

Rudy's Country Store located on Loop 360 South, Austin TX. The staff is always attentive to the guests needs. Great place to be with friends for a visit over barbecue or breakfast tacos. Makes one think of the old tv sitcom Cheers.

We visited the Austin area over the weekend. We walked in and they asked us if we had ever been to a Rudy's....to which we replied "no" and then a whole ruckus ensued and suddenly we were being served free samples of each meat and whatever side we were curious about. The "Moist Brisket!!!!" SHUT YOUR MOUTH! The meat was fantastic and the sauce was tangy and not too thick. We ordered a half pound of that and a half pound of ribs( you order by weight) and it fed my husband and I for two meals. The staff is incredibly friendly and fun. We are going back to Texas and will will most certainly be back at Rudy's!

Took a taxi to Rudy's for lunch while in town on business. Well work the $25 (one way) taxi fare! When you walk in the door you are greeted as a "newbie" and given the low down on how things work. You are offered samples of everything on the menu. The moist brisket and jalapeno sausage were outstanding! I also enjoyed the creamed corn and banana pudding for dessert. Rudy's was my favorite BBQ while in Austin and I tried several places. It's a must if you are in town!

Really great BBQ sandwiches, sides and a couple of beers is a great way to spend an evening in Austin. Nice desserts too like Apple Crumble. Very friendly, helpful and prompt service too! Will definitely be back next time I am in Austin!

You can't go wrong with rudys. Good food served fast. I always buy a bottle each of their great new sauces.
awesome BBQ
It was so good! Everything we tried was awesome! From the sides to the meat. Will definitely be eating here often.
