I had dinner here with a high-net-worth client, and the entire experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the first course to the final farewell, every detail was thoughtfully executed. The new GM, Michael, went above and beyond to ensure our evening was unforgettable, and Shelby delivered service that was truly next level. This team knows how to leave a lasting impression!

Excellent service and superb choice of steaks. Sides are excellent and served family style. Long wine list with great selection. Will need to take my wife on future anniversaries.

Loved the food. I highly recommend the petite filet. The side dishes are enough to split. Even got complimentary dessert for our anniversary.

This was our first time to Ruth Chris. The staff is excellent. Great service. Our server was Aislynn(?). She was very friendly and we liked how the staff seemed to all help each other and the tables were well taken care of. We ordered the T-bone steak to split which was a great call because it is so big! The steak was ok, not great, a little under-done but we ordered medium rare so it was no big deal. The macaroni and cheese lobster dish and the Calamari were excellent! The restaurant itself is very nice and cozy.

If you're looking for a great restaurant for a business meeting, convenient to downtown, this is worthy. Had a great business dinner. Pinot, wedge, steamed spinach and surf & turf. The filet and lobster tail were wonderful. I would absolutely recommend. Great server. Great atmosphere. Great place to close a deal.

Had not been to a Ruth's Chris in many years. Had a get together with some friends and was able to get a table to accommodate all of us on a Friday night. Steak was one of the best I've had in a long time. Could cut it with a fork. Lobster bisque was up to par with what I remember from past experiences.

The restaurant is very elegant and welcoming. Although the staff is courteous, they do not specify when ordering the steak that the side dishes were not included. That said, a side dish of asparagus submerged in butter and a baked potato cost more than the whole 24oz steak. Finally, the steak is also immersed in a pile of butter and various seasonings, making it difficult to assimilate the course. Summary: 2 steaks, 2 side dishes, 1 sparkling water = $276.

Stayed at a nearby hotel and found that Ruth Chris had an excellent happy hour. The bar area isn't that glamorous but was nice and the bartender was friendly. They had a great menu of appetizers at half price for happy hour and I had the fried lobster bites and they were delicious. Cosmo's were $8 which is a bargain downtown. Will go back and try some other things next time!

Sal is the greatest at Ruth's. The staff always remembers us when we are there. There is no better place to eat a perfect steak.

Great food and great service. We were celebrating our anniversary and enjoyed the dessert. As other reviews have commented-it is a bit dark in there. They could add some lighting to make it a more inviting atmosphere. When we first got there, they told my husband he had to remove his baseball cap although when we were leaving a guy was eating in tshirt and shorts in the dining room (not the lounge area). So keep a standard across the board.

This is an expense account place. There are much better places to go in Austin. I don't like it when they charge an exorbinent price for a steak and give you nothing with it. The wine is overpriced too. I think double the retail is fair - triple is too much.

The best steaks always..sizzling on cast iron w tons of butter, we always enjoy our meal here wherever we are in the county.. we tried lobster bisque, Spicey shrimp, calamari and wedge salads.. service impeccable , atmosphere was clean and welcoming. Reliably delicious, top quality food and service every time-you know exactly what you are getting when you come for steak

Had dinner there Wednesday night with several friends. Meal was spectacular! It is a pricey place but they make the best steaks served sizzling hot. I have eaten at one in New Orleans as well and they just do not disappoint ! The ahi tuna appetizer and crab cakes were super. Roasted asparagus and hollandaise top notch. AND a tasty lobster bisque. It is worth the occasional splurge.

Attended a corporate event and the staff handled it great. Very good food, attentive staff and the bar staff was great.

I have eaten Ruth Christ many times and had great meals. However the new owners Darden Group changed the recipes. Instead of improving it was terrible. We had a Shrimp Cocktail which was great with red sauce & remoulade sauce, Shrimp were large and ice cold. Next we had Caesar Salad Ice cold and crisp but drowned in dressing! Next we had Filet and Lobster Tail. Filet was cooked perfect Lobster was over cooked and now have changed from using un-salted drawn butter they now for the Filet & Lobster use SALTED BUTTER - Both we so SALTY they were ruined. We told the waitress but nothing was done or no credit given for an over Salted meal. We ask her to check with the Chef and he said Darden changed the recipe to SALTED butter and just told us next time if we go again to ask for unsalted butter the menu did not let you know they have changed the recipe to Salted Butter. This was a BAD Corporate decision that should be changed back to Un-salted Drawn Butter for the Lobster & the sizzle of the Filet on the Platter!!!! Stace Carrington 214-697-6824 cell

Delicious is really the only word to describe this meal. We had the lobster bisque (not the best we've ever had, but definitely on the top), we split the Rib-eye and Asparagus, and then for dessert we shared the Creme Brulee. Everything was delicious. The creme brulee was... I can't put words to it other than to say that there was nothing left when we were done even though we thought we were full when they brought it out. The hostess and the waiter we had were both friendly and promt. Excellent, nice, restaurant. Valet was also really convenient. Right in front of the restaurant. He let us leave the car with him for a little while after dinner while we wondered down 6th street.

I really liked the interior, looked very classy. The waiters were very friendly and even explained the restaurant background since this was our first time. The appetizers were pretty good and same with the steak. One downside is that they pretty much make you valet park since there aren't too many self park places around

I have eaten in many of these across the country and this one upholds the standards of the original. The three of us sampled bone in fillet, bone in NY strip and the T - Bone. All were great but the fillet was the surprise with astounding flavour and succulence as well as the expected tenderness. The wine was very reasonably priced compared with similar establishments. Do not ignore these "old standards" when choosing where to eat. Yes the decor is rather dated rather than trendy or cool but if you are prepared to pay a little more for your meat you do get a step up in both quality, delivery and service.

Can't go wrong with steak & potato. We enjoyed our meal but were digusted by other diners licking their hands after the meal. I'm not kidding. The woman even took her rings off to clean herself better. The entry/bar area is very dark & loud.

The steaks were excellent, but they did not come with any trimmings at all. Not a very good value.

This location is on the end of the main strip of bars. It’s very nice inside. The waitress was not the nicest in the world but the food was great. I had the shrimp cocktail and cowboy ribeye. They were amazing

I found this Ruth's Chris two blocks away from the hotel at which I was staying. Never had a bad steak at a Ruth's Chris, but things we just a little off this evening. Ate at the bar, since the restaurant was full. Bartender gave great service, but the steak I ordered medium arrived medium-rare. I'm likely to give them another try the next time I'm in downtown Austin.

I traveled to Austin on a business trip and while on 6th decided to stop into Ruth's Chris as I'm a big steak fan. The staff were lovely, the food was some pretty decent steak and the prices were reasonable. It's a very formal atmosphere inside, I wouldn't recommend eating alone but with couples/groups it would be absolutely fine. Prices are a little on the high side for what it is but you pay for the name and you're guaranteed a solid steak.

What a phenomenal steak dinner for both of us. There are several steakhouses in Austin that may have a little better atmosphere and certainly some that charge a whole lot more, but none can beat the value, quality and service (thanks Vincent) than Austin’s Ruth’s Chris Steak House. Steaks cooked to perfection, the very best cuts of meat, sides like the Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes layered with brown sugar and pecans - all incredible! Vincent made the night though for seldom do you get such a fine gentleman providing such high quality service and share great insights about Austin.

Had a great eating experience here as always, have tried Ruth's Chris steak house in NY, Austin & Washington and they all deliver great food

We visited Sunday late afternoon- and enjoyed a few apps (all under $10). No complaints about the food, but our server didn't seem too happy to be there! Despite that I would come back if we are ever in the area again.

The service was very good, attentive and welcoming, with the only minor glitch of forgetting to bring my wine. This, however, cannot rescue the food that was, at best, of average quality. The salad was drowned in the vinaigrette to the point that it was impossible to discern any flavor. The fillet was tender, but soaked in butter and completely tasteless. The wine was fine, but nothing to write home about. Overall a "meh" experience for the price of a starred Michelin restaurant. Definitely not worth the money.

One of the best meals on my life it was there, exceptional service and my steak cooked to perfection, awesome drinks

This Ruth's Chris is the largest I've seen. They have a few private dining rooms which makes it a special dinner for a group. Everyone loves what they get as all the choices are fresh with quality ingredients. Try Ruth's Special petite filet with shrimp. Its plenty of food but you don't leave over stuffed.

Personally I would give it a 4-star rating but my son says it's a 5, so I'll defer to him this time as the steak connoisseur (he's 11) of the family. We had the calamari and veal osso buco ravioli for appetizers. Both were fantastic. The calamari has an Asian sweet and sour quality about it. I think there were 5 raviolis so we each had one w/ our daughter getting the leftover. Cesar salads were fine. Dad had the filet and son had petite filet - honestly I didn't see much of a difference in size between the two though one was supposed to be 11 oz and the other 8. I had two 4-oz medallion filets w/ shrimp. Daughter had stuffed chicken. The taste of all were amazing. Can definitely taste all the butter so not something you'd want to eat on a daily basis but definitely added to the flavor of the meat. Daughter (13) struggled a bit with the chicken as it was bone in. For sides we shared the sweet potato casserole and shoestring fries. The sweet potatoes were AMAZING! They are super sweet though - our waiter said a customer orders it for dessert w/ ice cream... it is that sweet, but really so delicious w/ walnut crust on them. The shoestring potatoes were disappointing. They were supposed to be like pommes frites - but really they were like potato chips - not like fries at all... too crisp and really no seasoning except salt and pepper. I was expecting some sort of herbs or garlic or something. So, I wouldn't get those again. Not that we didn't eat them... they just weren't what I would expect from a pommes frites description. For 2 appetizers, a glass of pinot noir, 3 soft drinks, 2 sides, 3 steaks (1 w/ shrimp) and a chicken plus 18% tip... $341 seems a little bit excessive. When we lived in Chicago we went to Wildfire (another chain steak joint) all the time and they had great filet mignon and the sides were included on the plate - so pricing of Ruth's Chris was a little excessive based on my experience. A client gave us a $150 gift card so it wasn't as painful as having to cover the entire amount and sometimes you just have to think of it as a treat and move on from price. Service was great. Our server made a slight mistake and he went above and beyond to "fix" it, but it was so minor we really didn't even care. He offered us free dessert though (which we were obviously too full to eat) and even offered it to us to go... but again we declined. The idea of more food wasn't in us, but it was nice of him to go above and beyond like that. Our water glasses never hit below half empty, the manager Wendy came by to check on us, a different server wished us a good-night on the way out. All in all, it was a very nice experience, kids enjoyed getting to experience a more upscale place than we normally go to, so that's why I'm sticking with the 5-star review.

My husband and I recently enjoyed a wonderful meal at Ruth's Chris Steak House. Starters were the barbecued shrimp, which was good but not as spicy as I had hoped for and crab cakes that my husband thoroughly enjoyed. We dined on the filet and petite filet, served as advertised on sizzling 500 degree plates. I agree the heated plates do keep steaks warm to the last bite, but back to the first bite... My filet was the best I've had, flavorful, tender and grilled to perfection! The asparagus was crisp and delicious. We ended our meal with coffee and an excellent crème brulee. Our waiter was friendly and provided excellent service. The menu is pricey, but in line with other local steakhouses. Only negative comment is we were seated at a booth with sticky black electrical tape on the bench seat...no doubt that repairs have been made to the seating by now. Ruth's Chris has my vote for the best steak house in Austin!

Went with two other couples midweek and was very happy to see some specials on the menu that were not like specials in other places, meaning extra high prices for something somewhat different. Their specials were excellent priced items that included full dinner items not all a la carte. Ruth Chris usually is very dependable for a steak dinner. This time I believe that waiter switched my steak order with someone else's as my steak was overcooked. Rather than return the steak, which i should have done, i proceeded to eat a medium cooked steak when I ordered rare. One of the others in our party liked hers more well done than I and we switched after each eating half of the steak put in front of us. I should know by now to just return the steak, but when the are others in the party, i do not want them to have to wait. I sometimes believe this can be caused by having different servers bring the meals out instead of the original waiters.

Went to Ruths Chris for Christmas dinner and was pretty disappointed. All three of us got filet mignon and it was not the best we ever had, in fact my husband’s was overdone. The service was disapppointing as well. After we were done, a waiter came by and asked how everything was, and when we said that the steaks were over cooked, all he said he was sorry to hear that. They were not just over cooked they were tough and chewy. The au gratin potatoes were undercooked. I’ve had better from Betty Crocker and better streak at Ihop. Save your money and go to Bob’s Steak and Chop House if you want really good steaks!

We come to Austin quite often, this trip was a bit of a short notice so as soon as I found out about it I flipped open my OpenTable app to book our normal main dining experience in Austin and found they were booked. So without hesitation I chose Ruth’s Chris, mainly on past experiences in other cities I’ve been to such as Fort Worth, San Antonio, Providence, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and San Juan. All very good experiences; with Fort Worth standing out as exceptional. The evening was with a business associate and arriving a bit early we were greeted kindly and were given the choice of having a drink at the bar or seated immediately. We took the table. Wait staff was superb, and on the spot. Ordering was very simple with no special requests. 2 salads, 2 ribeyes and a good bottle of wine. Again, the staff was on the spot and plentiful throughout the night. And I mean throughout the evening because it took almost an hour to be served the main course. That wasn't really a concern too much. It was Friday night and they were fairly busy. Our main waiter was attentive and aware of the time we waited for two medium rare steaks with no sides. Salads were, one good, one not so much. The wedge salad was ordered with blue cheese dressing. Salad was chilled and crisp, but it only had a small amount of blue cheese crumbles, no dressing what so ever and almost no bacon to speak of. The other salad was great. My associate’s steak was good, mine had a the predictable nice Ruth’s Chris flavor, was cooked perfectly but the entire crown was nothing but gristle. To be completely fair, if you don't eat the crown on a ribeye steak, then I would not have a problem recommending Ruth’s Chris Austin to you. But since that is all I eat of the steak is the crown, that was extremely annoying. Someone between the cook, plater and QC should have caught it, it was that noticeable, and taking so long I wasn't about to send it back. Again, the rest of the steak was a great flavor and cooked perfectly. The Silver Oak paired well with the meal we had and we enjoyed the rest of the entire evening. Upon leaving we stopped at the bar briefly to listen to the band playing. Nice Trio, nice level, too bad we couldn't hear it at all from the dining room. Great bunch of guys. Love a stand up bass. In all, it’s a wash. We will continue to go to our “go-to” spot down the street when in Austin, but Ruth’s Chris Austin will still be our next choice. Sorry no photos, just too dark for a quality pic.

We had dinner at this location after getting downtown Austin early for a concert at Austin City Limits. It was a Thursday night and they gladly offered to work us in after we called for availability. We chose to sit at the bar for a faster service and were immediately greeted by the bar tender. The drinks were good, the service great and the Cowboy Ribeye was delicious. We split the steak and still had left overs. The Brussel Sprouts and wedge salad were also delicious. We were happy to have had been able to grab a delicious dinner in somewhat of a limited time frame before our show! We will go back on a date night when we are not pressed for time!

Had a good dinner on Christmas Day. A little slow at times but considering it was Christmas Day it was pretty good. I would go back.

Best steaks around. Granted it' pricy, but you won't find a more tender filet minion any where. Fantastic a romantic anniversary dinner. its an easy walk to 6th street after dinner for some good live music and drinks.

James was our server and he did an excellent job. We had our favorites: Lobster app, crabtinis, Lyonnaise potatoes, filet and ribeye. This is the best place for a steak in Austin. I have tried them all: Eddie V's, ALC, etc.

We had a gift certificate to Ruth's Chris Steak House and used it to celebrate my daughter's election as president of her honor society. The food was absolutely PERFECT!!! I am a steak aficionada and my filet mignon was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The service was impeccable and our server was very knowledgeable about the dishes and their preparation. I will absolutely go back. Not inexpensive, but certainly worth the price.

Good steak, no doubt, but soaked in butter which takes away most of the taste of the meat. Exorbitant prices for steak.

The steaks at Ruth's Chris are amazing! I wanted to do something special for my birthday and this was it. The service is incredible. I was not disappointed.

I was in Austin for business and ate here. Like nearly all Ruth's Chris restaurants it was fantastic. I travel a lot and this chain is the best. I ordered the cowboy ribeye, shrimp cocktail, and mashed potatoes. So great.

There are not so many place like this one. Only in this place you can have the best american Steak and the best Italian wine!!! I will come back to this restaurant every time I will go to Austin!

I have lived in Austin almost my entire life. I've had all kinds of steaks. This place has the best steaks. The way they cook the steaks is the secret I think. Tender, juicy lots of flavors going on. The chop salad was almost better than the steak. The cocktails are fresh and amazingly good!! The atmosphere is ambient and it isn't crazy busy. We enjoyed this place immensely. If you are coming to Texas for the first time go to Ruth Chris. You won't regret it.

We have been going to RuthChris at this location for 3 years. We have never been disappointed until our last two visits, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Very slow service Christmas Eve but our food was still very good. However last night we were most disappointed. My Lobster bisque was “lukewarm”, our food came and they hadn’t even removed our salad dishes. The plates were hot but the steaks “warm” and mine was over cooked. The lobster tail was cold and they didn’t bring drawn butter. It took forever to get dessert and then they said “the lava cake was made fresh because they were out” yet it was cold. I asked for decaf and when they brought it it was cold and I could never get a refill. Our waiter “had an attitude”....The ladies restroom was a mess and out of toilet paper. (And it was only 8 pm). We think our 3 year “go to” has come to an end.

I recently visited Austin and found an article online that seemed to good to be true. There is a happy hour deal from 4-7 and runs from Sunday to Thursday if I recall correctly. You may want to check to verify the details but here's the deal...A steak sandwich or prime hamburger with fries and hot dinner rolls for $9 ....I ate here twice while in town and enjoyed it very, very much...Great food quality and preparation and the 2 gentlemen working the bar were attentive and provided excellent service...Cold beers, several big tv's in the bar area, and outstanding food. Everything was outstanding and would go back there again next time I'm visiting Austin.

We started with Ruths chopped salad. Then ordered ribeye steaks for two and one had stuffed chicken. I don't know how they do it. Fabulous. We all shared broccoli, sweet potato casserole and baked potatoes. We had old school vanilla ice cream & 3 spoons, we were stuffed. Nice job by all the servers. See you next time.

My friend and I from NH made several visits to Ruth Chris after our nursing conf back in May just to sit and have a nice glass of wine with a delicious piece of chocolate cake and unwind! The staff that is valeting the cars are very friendly to you even if your not valeting a car!! The bartenders and managers are all so welcoming and we did have an opportunity to eat in the main dining room and had a nice prime rib which was phenomenal!! Of course the wait staff very thorough!! Your establishment was one of our highlights during our nursing conference, thank you all!!

First visit on Friday evening on the way to the theater. There was a combo playing wonderful dining music and overall ambiance and service great. However, one of our 2 steaks was tough and under-done (even for medium rare) and the lobster (market price $80) was chewy. Chef "apologized" and offered us a couple of free desserts. We took only one (cheesecake) and it tasted scorched. Sorry, not going there again.

Atmosphere was pleasant on a Saturday evening. Seated near front of house. Service was poor : Ordered an Argentinian Malbec and the server tried, several times, to push a spanish malbec instead. One food order was also incorrect. Fries came out cold which they replaced immediately. Everyone thought the steaks themselves were good. Shame about everything else.

I've wanted to eat here for the longest time. We made a reservation for a birthday celebration. Nice place, nice service getting seated. Crab cake appetizer was great. We both ordered surf & turf. 6 oz filet with 2 lobster tails. Waitress said it should be on the menu, but since it was she'd get it for use. My steak wasn't well done enough, some pink showed. Not a problem sending it back, I asked for no pink and it had a little. A smart cook would rather re-cook since you can't un-cook. Took a bite of the lobster after putting some lemon on it and it wasn't right. Tried another smaller bite. Not good. Fishy, tough and not tasty at all. Watched my wife taste it and she said "ugh, this doesn't taste good". The very attentive waitress came and asked. By then we both tasted both of our tails and they weren't good. Waitress was great, went right back with them. Manager came out very apologetic. My steak came back and it was fabulous. Just perfect. They brought back another tail for us to try, but it was not tasting right and they were very apologetic. We had some great asparagus with hollandaise sauce as a side. And the steak was enough too. They gave us a complementary delicious Creme Brulee which we shared and enjoyed very. I like the way they handled it except they never should have served the first lobster tails, let alone bringing out another "bad" one. Dinner wasn't too expensive because they took the lobster off and my wife enjoyed her martini immensely. However although the waitress did say that steaks were their specialty (and we both loved ours), a restaurant that's supposed to be close to 5 stars (and certainly has 5 star downtown prices) shouldn't be bringing out lobster tails that weren't tasty. We will go again, but this restaurant will be lower in the rotation than Sullivan's, Fleming's and Truluck's next time.

Service was very good, food served exactly as ordered. Server was new (I hope) and was over the top asking every minute how everything was. It makes me appreciate professional servers who understand the art and balance of a great evening.

Katie took care of us and was absolutely amazing. She made our experience truly unforgettable. Not to mention, the food was amazing too. Highly recommend.

Made reservations for Christmas to have dinner at the Ruth's. Restaurant is located is a classic architecture structure called the Scarborough building on 6th street. Spacious location with a perfect blend of style and substance. The waiter who served our table was named Daniel and he was gracious, pleasant and courteous everything a waiter should be. Also the food was superb.

I got to pick the place four of us went to dinner, and after receiving an email from Ruth' Chris, I decided it was time to give it a try. The email picture a crab stack that I had to have, and the sea bass, while quite expensive, was the other thing that caught my eye. The deal was sealed when I went to the website and saw how pretty the restaurant was. I love a beautiful environment. Sadly, I was very disappointed with my choice. The crab stack came out and looked just like it Ian pictured, and couldn't not want to dig into it. The cucumber is incredible, but the large lumps of crab were flavorless. There is a dressing on the plate that I didn't want to eat due to watching calories, but I needed to use it in order to give the crab flavor. The fish arrived and also looked beautiful. The peice was large, and looked delicious. I suppose it would have been were it not over cooked and tough. Two of my friends ordered filet at different temperatures, and they were served time the wrong person. Fortunately, they switched plates after several bits, but that may not always be comfortable or appropriate, depending on the crowd. My crab stack and sea bass set me back $60 plus tax and tip. In addition to be disappointed with the food, the dinning room is behind the pretty bar shown on the website. The actual dining room feels dated, the tables are way too close together, and the server speaking to her table next to us was so loud we had to wait for her to finish before we could continue our conversation. Such a disappointing dinner in a city that has an incredible selection of restaurants.

If steak is your thing then you can't pass Ruth's. From the petite filet to the Rib Eye the steaks in our group were superb. Lobster Mac and cheese , Brussel sprouts and mash you couldn't ask for more. Mind you the appetisers of tuna , calamari and crab cakes were full of flavour and a little spice. Unfortunately, there was no room for dessert. Service from Lisa was great. There's lots of eating places around Austin and an emphasis on BBQ. If you want that old fashion high touch service and sensational steaks Ruth's is the place to go.

From the moment we walked in, felt welcomed. Made reservations and was running a little late due to traffic by the SXSW festival. Called the restaurant and they replied no worries. Natalie was our waitress and did an awesome job in taking care of us. Very friendly and helpful in explaining the specials and menu. Answering our questions. Started out with cocktails and the stuffed mushrooms, delicious! Cowboy ribeye was excellent! Loaded baked potato and salad. Highly recommend this restaurant if you want a great steak!

Perfect place to celebrate Mothers Day! We got there a little early and had a drink at the bar. Our bartender, Arturo, was amazing and made the perfect margarita! The restaurant was a little busy, but you wouldn’t know it as the staff was very accommodating! Once we got seated, the atmosphere / ambiance was great… seemed like everyone in our area was having such a good time! Our waitress, Faith, was very sweet and made great recommendations! We started with crab cakes, they are a must-have and Mer Soleil wine. Our table ordered shrimp, fillets and a porterhouse. The steaks were cooked to perfection, exactly how we ordered them, which is a challenge as we all like them cooked so differently. I have to say the Porterhouse was exceptional! All the sides were very tasty and bread pudding and chocolate cake for dessert … so good!! The manager, Eddie, came by to make sure we enjoyed everything, which was really nice and added a personal touch! I highly recommend Ruth Chris in downtown Austin. They know what they’re doing! Kudos to the entire management team (and staff) for making this a perfect Mothers Day outing!!

We ate at the bar area, and the service was still marvelous. It's pricey, but it's worth it. The steak was melt in your mouth good, like nothing else I've ever tasted. We shared one dinner, and could barely finish - their portion sizes are quite large. The atmosphere is graceful and elegant. It's my favorite place to dine downtown.

The food is always magnificent at Ruth Chris Steak House. The front dining room and bar are a delight to the eye since it was recently renovated. Light wood, white stone, with a rustic motif, Really made our night. Tomahawk steak was mammoth size!

The steaks at Ruth's Chris are amazing! I wanted to do something special for my birthday and this was it. The service is incredible. I was not disappointed.

Fabulous dining experience. Perfectly cooked steak, vegetables, bread, and dessert. I know this is a chain restaurant, but they prepared one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. The service was excellent as well. They had a private room for our group of 20+. It was a very nice setting for a group this size. I would definitely recommend it for a small group or a night out.

We sat at the bar and had outstanding, friendly, fun service at the bar. We had filets(fabulous), au gratin potatoes, sweet potatoes, and creamed spinach. Everything tasted delicious and was cooked to perfection.

First visit to one of 'Ruth's Chris steakhouse' it was fab. Classic menu is excellent value, filet mignon amazing.

I will not likely return. Dinner took over three hours. After they took our orders they returned to tell us they were out of lettuce, so no salads. How do you run out of lettuce at 7:30 PM on a Tuesday?

Showed up slightly early for reservations, dining room not yet open. Sat in lounge and had a very nice mixed drink. I got the large filet and we split a side. I knew I couldn't eat it all, but I made leftovers from the 1/2 I had left and it was just as yummy. I just love their filets!

Ruth Chris has a way with steak. From the use of prime cuts only (many high end steak houses dont) and the 1800 degrees broiler they use to cook them, this small chain offers one of the best steaks ive ever had. Everything is ala carte so if you like all the add ons, it can get expensive per person but its an special experience that is well worth it.

Keep in mind... 1) This a chain, albeit an expensive one 2) This is a steakhouse, and prime 2% steak is expensive (seriously) 3) The "perfect steak/steakhouse/steakhouse experience" is in the eye of the beholder I personally love this Ruth's Chris and I'm not sure what experience some of the posters had when they mentioned the strict dress code. I've gone in there with jeans and an un-tucked nice dress shirt and never had any problems nor degradation in customer service. Its in the middle of Austin, it's not exactly business formal territory... The steaks are all 25-50 dollars, depending on cut and style. I would highly recommend the rib-eye, and expect it to be heavily peppered and salted with a ton of butter on/around it. If this is not your idea of a perfect steak, please do not go here. If you're down with a finely seasoned and perfectly cooked piece of prime beef, give it a try. They will certainly make it without the butter if that's not your thing or you're trying to watch your diet (but who goes to a steakhouse on a diet to begin with?). The sides are HUGE and served family style, so make sure you and 3 of your closest friends ALL want to eat mashed potatoes before you order them. The salads are killer, but a bit expensive (caesar salad ran about 14 on top of the separate 18 dollar side and 35 dollar steak). Wait staff is incredible, super attentive, and will even chat you up about whats goin on in Austin, how you're doing, etc. Took my partner here for his birthday and got the royal treatment. As such, I'd recommend it to anyone celebrating a special occasion. Have your pocketbook deep and ready, go hungry, and if you're a true steak elitist, go to a one-off steakhouse and not a chain. Otherwise get ready for a buttery awesome steak!

I dined in Austin but I presume that they are all much the same. First off, the wines by the glass or terrible. Yes, big names such as Bell Glos, but undrinkable nonetheless. They are relying on ": brands" rather than doing the job ( that I expect of a fine restaurant) of selecting the best values. I had the salmon which was not good. The fish was the problem. Farm-raised can be great or awful and they chose the latter. I guess to save money. All in all, a very disappointing dinner. Do your job Ruth's Chriss!!

Great food and service, nice restaurant, easy to find in Austin. The only negative point is the pricing a bit high. Nevertheless, I would recommend it.

Love Ruth's Chris for a special occasion, they make it extra special and the food is very good. My steak was cooked to perfection and the Birthday dessert was fabulous

I arrived here on time from my 7:30 reservation, alone celebrating my birthday and wanted to enjoy a good steak so I came to one of my favorite restaurants. I've eaten at Ruth's Chris restaurants in Toronto, Las Vegas, and New York City the night we got married. Much to my surprise, I wasn't welcomed with open arms, but was told in an unwelcoming manner that it would best if I sat at the bar since there was a large group arriving and I would get better service at there. Mae the hostess wasn't very welcoming and made me feel as though I was an intrusion on the night. I explained to her that the restaurant was essentially empty and I didn't want to sit at the bar. I asked whether there were any high top tables, there's wasn't. She again repeated her mantra of the restaurant being busy and I wouldn't get good service so I should sit at the bar. I then explain to her that it was my birthday and I wanted a table I told her that I was very unhappy with the way I was received by her and then asked to speak to management. It was here that I was eventually seated and made to feel at ease by the assistant manager who then instructed the manager to come and talk to me. Chris was very kind and explained the situation to me. I inferred that I didn't want to get Mae in trouble and maybe he could use this as a good learning tool for her in the future. Chris extended the Olive Branch by offering to pay fohigh-topss of wine. Excellent. At 35 bucks a glass for the Silver Oak, it helped take the edge off. I ordered the bone on filet with au gratin potatoes. The steak dinner was fantastic as was the service. Thank you, Natalie.

We dined as a large party and most of us did the Classic option where you get a starter, entree and desert for $59.95. Almost everyone did the Filet and everyone who did declared it delicious. For starters everyone did salads and there is where the mistakes began. Salads that were ordered with dressing on the side came with dressing and had to be sent back. About the same time the cocktail mixing guy came in and mixed a martini with melted ice which resulted in a watered down drink. When the entrees were delivered my steak, which was ordered medium rare, was well done and had to be taken back. The replacement steak was medium rare and was delicious. We arrived at 7 PM and were seated in a private room right away. We finished at 10 PM due to long waits between courses. My bottom line is simple. The food was delicious but the mistakes and long intervals between courses made this a less than enjoyable experience.

Clearly it's not cheap, but you'll be hard pressed to find a better steak. The service is always flawless and there are some inventive drinks in addition to an extensive wine list. For folks on a budget (like me), don't forget their daily happy hour from 4-7pm which features half-price appetizers and $5 martinis. Try the Hendricks martini ("The Natural") or the perfectly-spiced Bloody Buddy tini for something different. Food-wise, you can't go wrong with the carpaccio or ahi tuna. As an extra tip, the valet parking is often the cheapest and most convenient parking around if you're there on a Friday, Saturday or special event.

We came to austin for my bachelorette! We were eating at the restaurant next door when chris invited us over BEFORE they were even open for a congratulatory champagne toast! It was the sweetest! He even took the time to take photos of us and help us get the perfect boomerang! Lol 10/10 would recommend! Angels envy whiskey was teaching a class and the instructor even gave me a goodie bag!! It was the nicest!

Went here with family for dinner a couple of nights ago and the food was fantastic. Been to steakhouses across the country and for the money this place is hard to beat. Our server nick was great as well. If you are in the area I would highly recommend. Better salads than flemings!

Our family of five had a wonderful experience at Ruth's Chris Steak House on Christmas Ever. We were seated in the wine room which was very private and cozy. Our waitress was extremely kind and helpful. All ordered the boned-in filet which was so flavorful and tender. The side dishes of potatoes, asparagus and creamed spinach were wonderfully seasoned and large enough for all to share. We enjoyed 2 bottles of Far Niente Cab which was reasonably price. Of course, the cheese cake and bread pudding were out of this world. You can always count on Ruth's Chris to be above expectationsQ

The Martinis are wonderful ( ask for Buddy) the jumbo shrimp, the beef kabobs and oysters were all great. The stuffed mushrooms were just ok, I added some hot sauce.

It's been years since I have visited a Ruth Chris Steak House. So many new choices. Service is impeccable as is the food. Expensive but well worth the visit. .

Been twice now, both times for business, and I look forward to the next visit. Always the same. Red wine, wedge, filet and asparagus. Great atmosphere for business dinner and always staff that wants to make sure that everything is taken care of. Always happy with the choice.

I have never been to a Ruth's Chris but I have heard many good things and it definitely lived up to my expectations. The service was impeccable, from the servers personality to the back waiters class and sophistication, it was a real treat to see such attention to detail. The Seared Tuna was exceptionally fresh and perfectly balanced in a slightly spicy Wasabi beer sauce. I will definitely eat here again.

We've made many visits over many years and this was the first time we have been disappointed with the service. Service was slow and inattentive. Our waiter seemed preoccupied and hurried. The only person who made a point of being friendly was the person who brought our food, who I believe was a floor manager. The steaks were wonderful, as always. Our first time to try the sweet potato casserole- it's like dessert! Hopefully the drop in service is temporary.

Good but expensive! We went one time to the Ruth's Chris location in Austin. I had a ribeye - medium rare with baked potato. It was cooked correctly and was juicy and tasty. But I think it was about $20.00 overpriced

Good steak house. Not quite as good as the price.

My son took the family to Ruth’s Chris for my birthday. This was my first time eating there after hearing about it for years. Food and atmosphere were both outstanding. The filet was fork tender and the sides were all wonderful and large enough to share. Do not skip the desserts - we ordered several for the table and they were all excellent.

I've been in many different steak house in US in last 10 years and in general I love the quality of the meat and the typical american accuracy on cooking the steak in order to match the exact level of "Doneness" required. I asked for a New York Strip (Medium Well) and apart from the side (Fries) that were very good, the quality of the steak was bad. Too many nerves and not that tasty. The bill has been very expensive considering I've ordered only the steak, french fries and tap water to drink (71 $). In Austin you can eat better for less.

After years of eating guaranteed wonderul meals at Ruth's Chris in SA and Austin, we have had two mildly disappointing experiences that have us looking elsewhere for our next steak dinner. It was a Friday night, and the place was not full when we got there but it filled up quickly. There were so many small omissions in the service that it left us frustrated. In spite of 3-4 servers for our table, a bread refill was not brought until after asking twice. The iced tea glass was left unfilled over and over (even after it sat at the edge of the table in plain sight). The promised sample of beer never did arrive. The cocktails were slow in coming, but very good once they got there. But it was the food that was the biggest disappointment. Of 3 steaks ordered, all 3 were not cooked correctly. Two were seriously underdone and one was overdone. One of the undercooked (medium) steaks went back to the kitchen, but what we got was an almost well done steak with a raw middle. The baked potato did not arrive until several minutes after the steaks were delivered and the spinach was just "warm," not hot. Finally, the pairing of apple cheesecake with plain vanilla ice cream was just odd. They kept referring to it as "cake" but it was not, it was cheesecake. The service was hectic and abrupt (yes, the place was full, but still) and the table of 20+ people acting like complete drunken idiots, shrieking and bellering, just added to our unpleasant experience. I never thought I would say I looked forward to the peace and quiet of 6th street! The one outstanding element of the evening had to be the valet service. Those guys were On.The. Job. They were fast, pleasant and efficient.

I recently took clients to Ruth's Chris for dinner. We had a priving dining room, which was very nice. The wait staff was very attentive. The menu selection was good, and everyone enjoyed the wine and the food. I liked the steak, which was cooked to perfection, but I was underwhelmed by the lobster. The calamari appetizer was spicy and delicious. Overall, we had a very good experience and would definitely go again.

For an upscale steakhouse. The local owners of this franchise are wonderful hosts who go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome-whether you are a State senator or a high school senior on prom night. Always high quality in a classy and comfortable setting. Service is solid and the meal is always a treat. Special occasion or a business dinner, this is a sure fire recipe for success.

Ruth's performance superb as usual. My bone in Filet arrived smokin' and charred a perfect medium rare. Our party savored their variety of cuts, salads, sides and dessert. And the Malbec did the trick as well.

A group wanted to hit up a steak place. Some suggested this. I reminded them they took government money designed for SMALL business. Needless to say we did not go. Got great food elsewhere.

Everywhere in the States, is surely a brand which goes together with quality (as far as concern my experience in different USA cities). Friendly and professional service. Wide canteen with good wine selection. Then, when you go to the meat, that's the place to get a real high quality steaks. The fillet and the T-bone were superb. A place I would recommend.

Ruth's Chris Steak House has an inviting entrance with casual seating looking out on to West 6th Street, a small but well stocked bar for a pre-dinner cocktail and an aroma to stimulate your taste buds. The dining area is dark wood paneling interspersed with wine racks and comfortably spaced tables. The menu is straight forward and as you would expect heavily laden with beef, but with some other options. The main courses were good and brought sizzling to the table, but somewhat lacking in natural flavor. The side dishes were unimpressive in their presentation. The service was adequate until late in the meal when it became nonexistent. My impression is that there are numerous other restaurants in Austin which provide a better overall dining experience especially for the price.

This is the best place in Austin for a nice holiday dinner! My husband and I spent Thanksgiving here and even though the restaurant was full, we got our delicious food timely and the staff was top notch and very attentive! The to-go bag was a nice touch too!! This location is the best and the restaurant is run really well during busy holiday events!! We’ll be back!! Thank you for a perfect evening!!

This restaurant never let's you down. Last visit was steak and lobster. Steaks always cooked to perfection. Service always impeccable.

Best steak I can remember having. We had the fixed price offering - 6 oz filet and 3 huge broiled shrimp, along with delicious sides of honeyed carrots and spinach souffle, a fresh apple and greens salad, and decadent chocolate cheesecake, all for $43. The atmosphere is very upscale, slightly art-deco, with rich wood and soft lighting. This is a wonderful special-event choice.

Our experience here was excellent. From the time we were greeted, seated, and introducted to our waitress. The atmosphere was so enjoyable and our steaks so delicious. Will definitely return and tell all our friends. Thanks Ruth’s Chris Staff!!!

My wife and I love Ruth Chris, so when we travel around the country we stop and eat if a Ruth Chris is located there. This one did not disappoint. Our Steaks were great and the service was wonderful.

The last time we ate at this restaurant a month again, the manager said the food was taking a long time to come out of the kitchen because of a malfunction with the printer in the kitchen. This time the food took a long time to arrive at the table and no malfunction with the printer. I had to send my steak back because I ordered it Medium and it came out Medium Rare. The service was slow as well and difficult to get the servers attention. I have always been pleased with the food at Three Forks restaurant and will no longer return tho Ruth's Chris Steak House. So sorry to see this restaurant struggle.

We only had the bar food during happy hour but it was excellent. Fair price and served by the best staff.

Well this was by far the better then I expected experience. My husband and I where out doing the tourist thing checking out 6th Street downtown Austin. My husband pointed out that there was a Ruth Chris and insisted we must try( heard about it from Rush Limbaugh on the radio) We had split the the Porterhouse and had the Brussels sprouts with asparagus. Let me tell you I was liking my chops for days it was the quite the treat. Yes a bit pricey but what a blessed experience

Solid food and great drinks. Good choice for Thanksgiving. Very busy, but service was great. My son and I shared the tomahawk steak which was worth every penny.

I am a big fan of Ruth's Chris Steak House and while in Austin for a business conference I figured that I would treat myself to a delicious filet. I know it's a chain and there are some fine steak houses in Austin, however, I know that every time I go to any Ruth's Chris, I get nothing short of fantastic (food, service). This visit was no exception. From the moment I walked in and was greeted the staff is very friendly and professional. I was seated immediately and my waitress was right there. The lobster bisque was great and the filet was excellent (as it always is). I also got a side of a rock lobster tail and it was very delicious. When you go, you are going to pay a top $ but I always feel as though I get my top $'s worth. Thank you Ruth's Chris for continuing to remind me of why I keep coming back to your restaurants.

My wife and I save Ruth's Chris Steak House for special occasions since it's pretty pricey for us. To make it more affordable, we order form a pre-fixe menu that they typically have during holidays. Before our meal we each had a drink from the bar. Mine a blueberry mojito with just the right amount of rum and muddled blueberries. Hers a raspberry rosemary cosmo just sweet enough and garnished with a sprig of rosemary adorned with fresh raspberries. The meals we ordered came with the choice of salads and we each had the farmer's market salad which is not on their normal menu. I eat salad just about every day for lunch, but this one is a salad to savor. Greens (same as most salads), braised pears which could have been a dessert they were so good, thick chunks of bacon that I thought would not blend well with a salad, but worked perfectly, creamy goat cheese and a light dressing. Again, a salad to savor. We also ordered the filet with grilled shrimp. The steak is always cooked to perfection here and exactly as ordered. My wife wanted it between rare and medium rare and I always order mine rare. I'm not a huge fan of shrimp, but if all shrimp tasted like this, I'd be a huge fan. It was splendid. As sides we had the fingerling potatoes which were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The mashed potatoes, creamy and delicious. Our desserts were the apple crumb cheesecake with real chunks of apple baked in, divine and the perfect end to a perfect meal. On the side it had a dark chocolate bark which is enough to satisfy ones craving for chocolate after a big meal. Our server was James and he was very attentive and exceptionally knowledgeable about the menu. Overall the atmosphere is sophisticated enough for a nice evening out without losing the Austin tradition of laid back hospitality.

The General Manager is very customer service oriented and obviously passes his skills to his employees. The Happy Hour was so good, we decided to try dinner on a Saturday night. The food was delicious and well worth the price. We will continue to be customers.

My husband and I enjoyed a recent steak dinner at Ruth’s Chris. The filet was seasoned and grilled to perfection. I will definitely plan to return when back in Austin.

No doubt the food is amazing here, the service impeccable, and very accommodating. That being said, we just ordered entrees, no appetizers, drinks, nothing. But it took 45 minutes for us to get our food. We both didn't want to complain, but I couldn't believe how long it took to sear a couple steaks at 5:30pm. There might have been maybe 4 tables occupied in the whole dining room. Maybe it was an off night.

We received this dinner opportunity as an anniversary gift ( Thanks SMR !! ) and it was my first time going to RCSH so I was looking forward to it. My wife had been here at least twice. We had reservations for a Sunday evening but probably could have just walked in because the place was a little empty. Austins downtown traffic / parking can be a little difficult so I drove around the block a couple of times before just opting for the valet parking ( $9 ). The hostess was great, as well as all of the other staff members that we had an interaction with. Very well dressed and groomed. Almost to stuffy for my taste. There were only 2 other groups in the place during our dinner so the noise was very low, almost church like so there was no excitement buildup for me. I like live upbeat locations. Our table, service and food were all very good. The sides that we chose were good but tasted almost like they were made at home. No special flavor. The steaks however were very good! and cooked as requested. Very tender. Over all I don't know if I would return at these price points because of the sides and the ambiance. I would probably opt to go to Sullivan's here in Austin, TX.

Was told we would have a complimentary dessert for anniversary didn't happen. Food great little over priced service great

Have not been back to Ruth Chris in over 7 years, had a bad experience. So we tried one more time for Valentine. Ordered Surf & Turf. Steak Medium Rare & Two Lobster Tails. Steak was over cooked and only one Lobster Tail. Sent steak back with promise of another Lobster Tail for wife & I. Started to eat the first Lobster before the Steak & second Lobster Tail was served. Received Steak and it was OK, finally second Lobster Tail was received but was way under cooked. We gave up packed the left over steaks refused dessert and asked for check. Total cost with TIP (only water for drinks) $160. I think we have cross Ruth Chris off our list. It is sad, we have been there many time in the past.

Reservations for two evening of 6 April. Arrived a little early and got seated immediately. Ordered 2 old fashioneds and the wait began. 15 or so minutes later the waiter came back and said the drinks would be right up. I asked if we could order our dinner and he politely said yes and walked away for about 5 minutes. I was surprised when he came back empty handed to take our order. Another 10 minutes passed and our salads arrived. “Strange, I thought we ordered a couple drinks a long time ago” I said to the person bringing our food. He said he’d let our waiter know. The drinks finally came out with the waiter and he apologized that it took so long. I said we’ll live, then took a sip of the very disappointing drink. The ice had melted and watered down the taste. Besides that, it was a warm drink and tasted like it came out of a can or something. I know that’s not the case, it likely sat at the bar too long and just got warm. My buddy’s ribeye came out perfectly medium rare, mine was medium when it arrived but it was thinner than the other one and was over cooked by the time it stopped sizzling. I’ve eaten at many other Ruth’s before and have had a mixed bag of results from outstanding to this one on the low end of the scale. After paying the bill and feeling completely defeated I informed the waiter that we were not satisfied with our experience but thanked him for his time. For context, the restaurant was not busy, there was one party of about 8 but another team was taking care of them. Bad night I suppose but I don’t see a reason to go back there again. Too many other amazing places to explore in Austin! Stay Weird….

We had walked around for a while looking for a good place to eat when we came across this restaurant. The valet parking and frontage told me that this would cost more than we wanted so I asked to see a menu first, the first price I noted was 45 dollars for a steak dinner so we decided not to stay. Just then we were told that there was a happy hour menu in the bar till 6.30 so we stayed. The happy hour selected meals were just 8 dollars and the steak sandwich was by far the best we ever ate, it came with nice fries done in a twisty, crispy fashion too. The girls also raved about the cocktails which were reduced to 8 dollars each and the pomegranate martini was a favourite. Our server was great and it was a pleasure to eat in such a Restaurant even though it was only the happy hour menu. We only wish we had found this place before our last night in Austin but we will certainly be looking out for another in the future. P.S. It turned out the valet parking would have been cheaper (9 dollars) than we paid at the car park!

The Rib Eye was good, but nothing really special for this price range. The service is pleasant, efficient and just present enough - so very good! The Petite Filet seemed to be a better cut of meat. I recommend the asparagus as one of the shareable side dishes.

Not our first visit, but out final visit. The service was excellent. The place is attractive. The valet personnel friendly, and efficient, but on a Friday night they were running out of parking slots. I do not mind paying for a valet, especially in a city( oops, Austin is actually a large town with terrible traffic). The bread was stale, a glass of wine triple the cost, maybe even four times, I know I could have bought one bottle at Spec's for nearly have the cost of one glass. The steaks the people I was with were totally enjoyed, served on a too hot of a plate, and a rather old dingy formally white plate, clean but well worn. I opted for the grilled sea bass, had to return for it too lemon juice rinsed, first bite tasted like a fork full of salt. The rinsed sea bass was better, but not outstanding. Mashed potatoes were selected by one dinner mate, skip these, tasted like school cafeteria fare. Rather have a nice baked sweet or white potato or asparagus or broccoli. Their side dishes are not leaning toward a healthy selection. The dessert menu needs revamping, boring and predictable. No specials. Coffee at Starbucks across the street maybe a better option. The jazz band up front upon finally leaving sounded excellent. Sorry Ruth Chris, you failed to impress in so many ways. Lots to change on your end.

We had their special Happy Hour steak sandwiches - $10 each, with all the trimmings. The steak was superb (someone told me it was filet mignon left over from the previous evening) and incredible value. What more do you want? OK, the beer was excellent as well.

It's excellent, prime beef, broiled to your liking. There's a good variety of sides (served "family" style, but you'd better have a small family by that definition). Atmosphere was good but not spectacular. We enjoyed it, but the group I ate with makes a habit of visiting finer steakhouses when we travel together, and this was excellent, but not distinguished from other fine steakhouses.

The customer service was excellent, but the food was way overpriced. Lobster Mac was bland, and shrimp was just okay. Calamari was okay. The steak was tasty but a tad overcooked. The chocolate cake was the best thing. If I pay $200+ for a meal, I expect close to perfect. Nothing memorable about the experience other than it's pricey. There are better steak houses in Austin, IMHO.

My kids surprised me with a Mother’s Day lunch and what an amazing time we had! The food was so delicious and the staff couldn’t have been nicer! We even met the GM, Zach. That was a first for us! He was so personable and genuinely wanted to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Very nice young man, as was our server, Faith! The crab cakes and shrimp were the best I’ve had! I snitched a bite off my husbands plate and his fillet was so tender and cooked perfectly too! I can’t wait to go back! What a great experience!!

Another US trip and another visit to another one of Ruth’s Chris !! Can’t get better than that and thank you Austin crew for 2 great STEAK dinners 👍

I've been taking advantage of restaurant week in Austin to both check out restaurants that I've wanted try, and to catch up with friends and colleagues. We had dinner at Ruth's Chris, located at 6th just west of Congress Ave. The location is fantastic, Ruth's Chris is in the ground floor of the Norwood tower. The restaurant has the rich dark wood old world charm that one finds comforting in a quality steak house. However, I could not help but feel that perhaps this place could use some updating. The restroom is small and not exactly nice. Our server was friendly, and attentive. He was not obtrusive in our conversations. He was knowledgable and very professional. But let's move on to the most important item...the food! For starters, I had the cold gazpacho soup with jumbo lump crab. It was a good start to the meal, the soup was tasty. My entree was the petite filet with shrimp. It comes out on a 500 degree plate with sizzling butter. LOTS of BUTTER. I love steak, especially filet mignon. This one was competent, but lacking. The size was fine, it wasn't too large or too small. It was really the taste that was missing something. It was...a bit on the bland side actually. Now bare in mind that it was an ok steak, just not great. Not special. Ruth's Chris is good, but not great. Great steakhouses in Austin are plentiful. If you can only pick one steak place for dinner, I'd pick Eddie V's, Trulucks, Sullivan's, Perry's, III Forks or even Vince Young's Steakhouse. Ruth's Chris does have a strong reputation in town though, and I will definitely give this place another try sometime.

You will not be disappointed. Great steaks, plus you MUST have the lobster appetizer. It is so good my wife and I always get our own as it is too good to share. Always good service, plus nice atmosphere. Truly a gem of a restaurant here in Austin.

We went to Ruth Chris for our anniversary. It was awesome that everybody in the front and our server knew our names and what we were there for. The service was fantastic! The wine choices were excellent! The food was good. I've had better flavors in my steak and asparagus elsewhere. I really wish it were a bit more of a romantic date night atmosphere. There was no music to be heard. If you're entertaining guests or just want a fun night out, this is your place. If you want that barely light, candles on the table place - go elsewhere. The evening ended on a higher note....free dessert! That was unexpected for such a high end restaraunt. Valet was a reasonable 8.00 as well!

Went here tonight for my 60th Birthday. Adriana was our waitress and was absolutely phenomenal! The food was superb. The Calamari was crispy with a nice sweet glaze, the Shrimp Cocktail had 4 huge shrimp with a perfect tangy cocktail sauce. My girlfriend's mother had a fantastic Lobster Bisque along with their wonderful bread. Her Caesar Salad was a thing of beauty, huge thin slices of parmesan, perfectly coated with dressing. My Wedge Salad was even better, I ordered extra bacon, perfectly crisp, and extra bleu cheese and dressing. Maybe the best salad I've ever had. There was an issue with the Porterhouse being overcooked, just the filet side, but it was medium well, not medium rare and my girlfriend mentioned it to the manger when he came by. He took one look at it, grabbed a napkin and swept it away, letting us know a new Porterhouse with fresh Oscar topping would be right out. Then Adriana came by and let me know they were comping the Porterhouse altogether because it was my birthday and it had impacted our night. It was very nice of them, I would have been happy just to have the steak medium rare. Of course, my girlfriend was paying so that's easy for me to say. Our steak and baked potato were as good as it gets, served sizzling and perfectly cooked. The Oscar topping was fantastic! The crab cake was piping hot with a delicious Béarnaise sauce. My GF Mom had the Filet which was delicious, and perfectly cooked and the garlic mashed, again delicious, even more with a little of their great fresh whipped butter. Then when we were finished, even though we'd declined on desert, Adriana brought out a small cheesecake with Happy Birthday written out in chocolate, it was heavenly, light and fluffy with a sweet cream topping, little dollops of raspberry compote, and some fresh blackberries and strawberries. Folks, for a special time out with family, you really can't do any better than Ruth's, I was born in New Orleans 2 years before Ruth opened her steak house, and I guarantee she'd be proud of her staff for the professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness. I can't say enough about the service we received from all the staff, if Adriana was busy and something was ready, it was served immediately by whoever was closest. The teamwork they showed only comes from good training and great leadership. Well done all, Thank you for a wonderful experience.

We returned to Ruth's Chris, one of the best steak houses anywhere, and found nothing much had changed. Superior service, extensive wine list, tender grilled filet served on a hot plate, wedge salad served on a cold plate and plain cheesecake that needs nothing on top. Oh well, somethings never change and for the best. For all you fish lovers, my wife's seared tuna appetizer and grilled haddock were fantastic.

I like to venture downtown and when I want to count on a good steak, friendly staff, and good desserts and coffee, I like Ruth Chris steakhouse. I have traveled extensively and one of my staples when I travel is eating well. If I am in a town with a RC then I will always make time to go by. The Austin spot is easily one of my favorites.

We made reservations weeks in advance for Christmas Day. When we arrived, we were told there would be a 20 minute wait. Not a big deal but this seems to be the norm with all Ruth's Chris restaurants that we've visited in several states. They can't seem to handle the holiday crowds. Nevertheless, the food was pretty good. The appetizer was amazing. We had the ahi tuna and it was to die for! Our main course took quite a while to come out and it was less than hot but still very good. Dessert and drinks were great. We had the chocolate duo. Service was great but a little slow. I'm guessing it's because of the volume of diners. Overall not a bad experience and we would definitely eat here again. Our waiter, Beau, was awesome.

My husband and I went for our 11 year wedding anniversary. The restaurant was nice with candles/low lighting. Waitstaff was friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and came out in a timely fashion. Towards the end we made a comment about it being our anniversary to the manager that stopped by our table and she came back with confetti for the table and the dessert we ordered had happy anniversary written in chocolate on the plate and they comped it for us! Very sweet and unexpected! Menu is pricey but definitely worth it!

Not the best steak by far, far too dry for a medium rare and a South African! Had a cheaper bottle of Californian red wine which was great.

I stopped in for an early dinner recently during the week. It was not crowded and I wanted a beer. The happy hour steak sandwich was good and a value. I ate at the bar and the staff was friendly. I didn't go there expecting low prices but I was surprised at the $9 draft beer at happy hour. You might want to ask what the happy hour beer special is if you just want a drink. I would like to to go back soon and have a full meal, I think it would be wonderful.

The Ribeye steak is out of this world. It does not have to be special occasion to go here... I'll have my Martini, shaken, not stirred.

Had a fabulous thanksgiving at the bar. Faith, the bartender made the evening special. Happy Hour items are always the best. It was a perfect casual evening with food and drinks

The Austin Ruth's Chris is one of our "special event" restaurants...because its fantastic, but too expensive for us to eat there more than once or twice a year. So what makes a restaurant "fantastic?" I believe it is a combination of setting, food quality & selection, and service. The setting is very nice with lots of rich wooden décor and white linen tablecloths/black linen napkins. But the service really take the prize. For example, our table for eight was not ready. The Matre d' comped us our first round of drinks. Our waitress, Amber, was superb, and handled the typically confusing ordering process that accompanies eight people having a very good time both graciously and accurately. Additionally, she was surprisingly well versed in both the wine and beer selections, of which there were many. Her wine recommendations were spot on. The food? Can't have a restaurant review without mentioning the food. All I can say is that Ruth's Chris restaurants are renowned for their steaks and justly so. OK, I may have preferred to have my "Medium" filet pulled from the oven about one minute sooner, but the taste & texture were so wonderful that complaint was not possible. While we all had steaks, there were plenty of other offerings on the menu, both meat & seafood, and I am confident that Ruth's Chris would plate an excellent meal regardless of what was ordered.

Enjoy taking in a variety of happy hours in Austin with another couple who are friends. Ruth’s Chris is one of the best downtown. Generous variety of items and good pricing. Excellent service and wonderfully tasty food. Give Happy Hour 5 Stars. Dinner experiences have not been quite so good. Had a couple of filets which were not as tender as they should have been. Their steaks — I believe — are Choice rather than Prime.

I have to be honest - I had never heard of Ruth's Chris Steak House even though there is one in Boston ands had no idea of how over priced it is. That having been said, it was by far the best steak I have ever had - with the exception of bistecca fiorentina in Florence. I had the New York Strip Steak and my wife had the prime rib. Both were perfectly cooked, tender, juicy and delicious. My martini was cold, the wine was perfectly matched and the calamari was okay, although a little soggy. Everything was perfect EXCEPT the service. The food came fairly quickly and the bar service was a little slow. However, after finishing our meal we had to wait while the server, Vincent, finished socializing with another table. This went on for at least 15 minutes with Vincent making no attempt to even look around to see if either of the only two other tables needed service. Ultimately, I would return to another RC but probably not in Austin. When paying these prices, I expect much better service!

Miserable dining experience. Hard to believe it has such a great following. I paid $73 including tax plus $13 to park. My 6 oz filet was Livery and it was medium rare when I ask for it to be medium. The plate was so hot the steak was boiling on top of it so I thought I could cut it up and cook it some more. That didn't help the tenderness any. This was not a Prime Steak. The lobster tail look like someone had trimmed it on the bottom to make it thinner. Never seen a lobster tail that thin before. Plus it was covered with paprika. The salad was pathetic. It was a plate of bitter lettuce with two teeny-weeny grape tomatoes cut in half. A sprinkling of red onion. The only thing good was the balsamic dressing was decent. The desert was a bland bread pudding with one measuring tsp of sauce on top. Even if it had more sauce it wouldn't have helped that dessert. The waitress s told me that the desert was quite delicious. She didn't get much of a tip. Wow! So disappointed.

Had view of kitchen until I changed seat. For 190 dollars thought would be more. Steak good but not worth going back. Mushrooms not good at all. Onion rings almost burned. We were glad we tried it but next time it's Salt Grass or Texas Land and Cattle. People in undershirts and shorts. Not as formal as advertised. Also not quick service.

Love the bar, HH and everything. Sweet Potato Souffle, YUMMY! Go Sal!

our guests were a little late, so we sat in the bar, had drinks, the perfect pomegranate martini, and watched the people of Austin walk buy. very relaxing. had the filet mignon, mashed potatoes and green beans. steak was very very good. sides were fresh and served hot. service was professional. cheese cake so so. all in all a great evening. first class evening.

Great Service, Nice people, Nice place, wonderful food. I had the best shrimp as a entree. Spicy one.

My husband and I flew into Austin and planned to pick up a car after spending two nights in Austin. Our last night there I realized I had forgotten my map book and so we needed a map of Texas. We wandered around but couldn't find anywhere to buy a map. Dinner time and we went to Ruth's Chris. Immediately the service and ambiance were wonderful. We told our server, Whitney Jenkins, about our problem with the map and she called over the manager, Wendy Berecki. We explained our problem to her and she said she would see what she could do. Shortly thereafter Wendy walked into the dining area holding up a map. She had gone to the corner and bought us a map of Texas. What a wonderful night that was. Yes, the food was perfect, but it was the people who made our stay in Austin special. Chris and Jimmy White, Los Barriles, BCS, Mexico

Food was great on all levels but service let's talk. At the bar there were 3 bartenders that couldn't keep up with the orders. Some drinks were spot on others were hit and miss. The waiters had too many tables that service lack so much my drinks were not refilled. Food 10 out 8 and Service 10 out 4.

I don't even know where to begin. This was our first time visiting this restaurant and all I can say is I am so appalled at the lack of customer service, transparency and competent management. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Truly disgusted.

We had dinner in Ruth Chris Steak House and had a very enjoyable experience. Our server Tanner was a few minutes late arriving at our table which we had not noticed as we were looking over the menus and was very apologetic. Later the manager spoke to us and advised us that the starters were complimentary due to delay in service. The food was excellent the service was excellent and our server Tanner was more than helpful. He is attending the UT Austin and he had a good conversation with our son who is here on an exchange programme from the University of St Gallen Switzerland. This restaurant is highly recommended for top quality food and service

Great food, great service, great atmosphere - perfect celebration dinner spot! Pricey, but if you want to be treated special, this is indeed the place to do it.

When in Austin, Ruth Chris is the place to go. Nice lounge, great steaks and a very good wine list. Sal, the manager is tops.

Everything that I ordered on the menu came out better than I ever could have expected. From the salad, to the filet with a side of mashed potatoes, and a desert, everything was just tremendous (for $44). The server was very attentive and friendly and explained the menu very well for us. The atmosphere was very pleasant and soothing. This was a great place to come with a group of couples.

One of the last independently owned Ruth's franchises, this is a great choice for dinner downtown. Good choice for date night, business dinner or large groups. US Prime grade beef, cooked quickly, then put on a 1200 degree plate, hit with a little butter and served sizzling at your table. Sides are classic and delicious. Full bar, great wine list.

We have been to the Ruth's Chris in both Dallas and Houston they both by far surpass the service, atmosphere, and over all experience of what one would expect from a Ruth's Chris. Unlike most restaurants of this caliber the food was not paced as expected nor the specialty drinks up to par. The bathroom was deplorable, it was in desperate need of not only a new seat but a cleaning as well.

Its been awhile since we had been to Ruth Chris. They are consistently good. Steaks always cooked to perfection. I like the new addition to the menu where not everything is ale-cart,some smaller portions with sides included. Great addition. Superb service.

Absolutely by far the most expensive meal I've ever had. Go for a special occasion and enjoy. The crab cakes, roasted tomato soup, and the petite ribeye are all excellent. Seriously excellent.

Had dinner here when in the area on business and as always, the food is amazing. I had the petite filet and the baked potato ... both were delicious. It's very nice inside, as well, and the service was also very good.

WHen you hear that a restaurant is a corporate one you might have second thoughts. I know that is the case with many "chains". This place is nice, comfortable inside. It was a special occasion for my wife and I. I had made reservations, the table was available quickly. We ordered the shrimp appetizer, it was fantastic. I think I can boil shrimp but I know I can not make that sauce to dip them in - get it, it is good. I had a steak, it was so tender that I literally could cut it with my fork. My wife had the Chilean bass, was just wonderful. Our dessert was vanilla ice cream and an apple pie like dessert, delicious. I will go back, it is good.

Only writing this review because our server, Marco, was amazing. The food was excellent and the steak was cooked to pure perfection. Highly recommend and, if you can, get Marco as your server.

This was my first time eating here and I LOVED it. Best bone-in steak I have ever tasted! Great server!

was great but overpriced for our tastes...was a great one night out experience - i guess most should try it at least once

We took a Lyft ride into downtown Austin from Round Rock to have dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in downtown Austin. We had a glass of wine in the bar before dinner, served by a very knowledgeable and professional bartender. We were seated for dinner, right around the time of our reservation. The food was FABULOUS. The appetizers were stellar, the steaks were cooked to perfection, the sides were all delicious. Even though we couldn't eat it all, we still ordered dessert, which we mostly took home with us. Hailed a Lyft ride back up to Round Rock (didn't have to worry about parking or driving on a Friday night downtown after drinking wine). We had a wonderful time. I would fully recommend it!

It would not be a trip to Austin without going to Ruth's Chris. Sal is always such a treat to visit with when we go. Excellent service and the food is always the best.

We went early before a show at the Paramount Theater recently. It was my Birthday and our table was decorated with confetti. Nice touch. So was the special dessert. The steak was decent. The scalloped potatoes were great. The fish was above average. The place was so dark, though, it made seeing your food and reading the menu a little difficult. Coupled with the afternoon glare off the buildings made it hard to visit with/see your party. Ask for a table that doesn't look out to the street if you arrive before dark.

Was there with a group of 10 people. It was very very pricey and although the food was good, it was not worth it. Worst of all: the waitress needed some 40 minutes to bring the checks. Not recommendable, especially since there are so many better Steak-Houses in Austin.

Went here for a birthday dinner and they are always amazing. Filet is to die for. Cocktails are superb. Waitstaff is top notch. They really leave you wanting for anything. It would be hard to find a better steak!

We arrived for dinner fairly late on a Monday night, dressed VERY casual. They let us right in and we received excellent service from everyone. Fabulous food, perfectly cooked. We were the last one's to leave (after their closing time) and they didn't try to rush us at all. Highly recommend it!

Ruth's Chris stays consistently excellent. Our service this time was less attentive than in the past, but at least adequate and certainly not "bad." I drink red wine, but my wife can't drink reds, so their generous by-the-glass wine list is much appreciated when it's dinner for two.

Our new car was valeted by the Ruth's Chris parking attendants and was parked in an alley way behind the restaurant. If I had known where they were going to park the car, I would have parked it in a better spot than the dumpster-ridden alley way! After dinner, the valet went to get our car and I knew something was wrong when he returned without the car and asked my husband to come with him. After 30 minutes, I finally went to see what was going on and found my car had been broken into through the sun roof. Glass was all over the seats, on the floorboards- everywhere. We made a police report and left after a helpful cook (not from Ruth's Chris) helped us vacuum it out enough where we could sit down without being hurt. After looking at surveillance video we found the car had been broken into within minutes of being parked by the attendant. Our dinner at Ruth's Chris was for 2+ hours, and they hadn't checked on my car once during that time, or they would have found it had been damaged. They didn't help me pay the deductible, so we walked away paying for an overpriced steak dinner and a vandalized car. I will never go to Ruth's Chris again.

We have been to many Ruth Chris Steakhouses and this one was very good. Love the steaks, calimari, lobster bisque. Very good service, management, and decor. Love going somewhere where I'm pretty sure we will be getting the same great food as their other locations
Thanksgiving 5 Star
First year for this location to serve Thanksgiving fare. Awesome debut! This was the best meal we have ever experienced on Thanksgiving...better than The Driskill and The Four Seasons. Oh, it was also less than half the cost. We already know where we will dine post Turkey Trot next year!
