Weekend in San Antonio

By Shortpuppy |

Our family went to Ruth's Chris for their fantastic "Happy Hour". There were 12 in our party including a little one. We were seated very quickly by the hostess. Our waitress Denise was very courteous, professional, and kind. Outstanding service at this Ruth's Chris location from waitstaff, bartenders, manager, and hostess. Thank you for making our special afternoon incredible!

Worst dining experience! Food was cold and their famous steak was full of grizzle!

By Shirley S |

Christmas evening dinner was a total mess! From the minute we sat down! Dirty fork, I was handed a lunch menus not dinner. I ask for wine and waitress was clueless about wine. Then the assistant manager came out with a bottle of wine and was as clueless as the waitress! Wow! Finally our food comes out and our sides were cold and the steak was okay but a lot of grizzle! All and all our Christmas dinner really was disappointing! Oh! We paid 35.00 to park and if we had known the valet could have punch our card and we could have parked for free. How do you know if someone doesn’t tell you right! Called a couple different time to speak to manager. He doesn’t return calls and his messages are full. No way can you speak to him.

Great Food, Great Service

By Rick W |

Celebrated a birthday with a friend. From the time we got there till we left the staff was awesome. Our waiter Jared was a great sport and provided exceptional service, even bringing us cheese for our bread, knowing we are from Wisconsin. The steaks were made perfectly and the lobster Mac and Cheese was to die for. My first time there but if I ever find my way to the San Antonio, will definitely be back.

Overpriced Experience

By Joeysdoll |

The much ballyhooed Ruth's Chris disappointed us. The service stood out for its efficiency and warmth but the food was a let down. I imagined that locally sourced beef would be amazing but my NY Strip was one of the worst I've eaten. It was tough and overly salty. The deluge of butter on top didn't help the flavor and made me feel ill later. It literally sat in a pool of grease. The bread was a plain white loaf like you'd find in a grocery. My companion's steak was better quality than mine but still overly salty. The lobster mac and cheese was okay but could have used more jalapeños. My blackberry sidecar was everything it should be and more. I could have had two. Our server was excellent and provided us with great suggestions and superlative service. However, for the price and poor meat quality, we would not return. There are too many better steakhouses out there.

Decidedly Average

By Aaron F |

Went for business lunch. Was informed they were out of broccoli (?) and some other ingredient. No biggie. I had the steak sandwich and felt that it was a little dry and bread average for $25.

Ruth’s Chris never fails

By Kevin W |

Enjoyed both lunch and dinner there while staying at the grand Hyatt hotel. It is located on the bottom floor. Quality food and service as always.

Great food, awesome service

By Jim J |

Recently spent a week at the River Walk in San Antonio. Had dinner twice at the River Walk Ruth's Chris. Both meals and experience was great, awesome service. David England was the manager both evenings, he made us feel special. Servers were Johnnie at the bar and Sarah and Ryan worked our table. Victor was the chef on our second night and the meal was outstanding. Thanks again, I'd go back and strongly recommend you give it a try. Reservations recommended. Mike

Dark Old School Romantic Steak Resturaunt

By Gina |

Dark, old school romantic, professional atmosphere, wonderful raspberry cocktail, petit filet excellent served on fresh out of oven hot and warned $56. Pricey menu, everything is a La carte, service was good. I would go back again

Happy Hour

By Chuck B |

We had a early dinner or late lunch but after a missing lunch we were hungry. We had a couple beers and 3 of us had a prime rib burger. We all thought they were very good. 1 was a little over cooked but we left it go. Too hungry to wait. The fries were excellent. We spent an hour + sitting and chatting. It was a pretty good time. Others said the Voodoo shrimp was quite good too. It costs you to park so you can add that to the meal prices. That charge is in the tipping the valets. So another 5 or 10 bucks. All and all a dicent place and meal.

Always consistent and good

Title says it all. Great food, great service and good atmosphere. Ruth's Chris have consistency down pat. Always enjoy my meals here.

Unfortunate date night experience

By Dillon K |

Truthfully this restaurant gave higher expectations then what was given. Went with my wife for a dinner celebrating our new house. Obviously for the occasion we dressed up to enjoy a good night out. Online states there's a dress code and no hats were allowed in the dining area which to me was a plus especially for a higher priced restaurant. Upon walking in the hostess was busy flirting with some random hotel worker and didn't acknowledge or greet us upon arrival. When taken to our seats we were placed next to the wall, and it was very uncomfortable as it was hot in the restaurant. Next the service was slow. We allegedly had the best server however, got next to no service. A few groups started trickling in with hats and tee shirts and shorts so that was a surprise after having read the policy for eating in the dining room. The food was subpar at best. Truthfully, probably the worst steak I have eaten. I'd rank chilis steaks above these. One refill the entirety of our visit also put a sour taste in my mouth. I don't recommend this location to anybody. If you're going to pay for a steak, go to a Brazilian steak house or Bohanan's right downtown. You'll get more for your money and the food tastes 100 times better. (Yall should update yall's "clothes' requirements and change it too casual at best.)

Perfect filet mignon

By MOR70 |

Perfect filet mignon. Just ask for it without any topping or garlic or whatever, then experience the excellent meet with a glass of red Texan wine

Christmas Day Dinner

By Barry Townes |

We have always been fans of RC's and have eaten at various locations over the years. We made reservations for the San Antonio location a month or more in advance. It was pretty typical of RC's and not disappointing. However, our waiter, Michael, was outstanding. It didnt take him long to sense that we enjoy socializing with our wait staff. Andrew did an excellent job in every aspect to make our Christmas dinner a memorable and rewarding event. As the evening wound down, and the place was near empty, we had a very enjoyable chat with Michael. Our meal and service was excellent. All the waitstaff were attentive. Our compliments to the chef and his/her staff. Our steaks were delicious, hot, and sizzling in RC's fashion.

much better this time

By Thomas K |

last time here the service was bad and food not much better but I tried it again with great results. I came with a date for the happy hour special and The $9 burger was good but the fries were way improved over the greasy and flaccid fries last time. These were crispy and delicious. Her ahi tuna and shrimp appetizers were fantastic and enough for a meal! Im coming back real soon.

Excellent Bar

By WINEandTRAVEL |

Really enjoyed my dinner at the bar here. Large and roomy, very comfortable. The food was perfectly prepared and delish! Ruths Chopped Salad and the Voo do Shrimp .. both fantastic. Nice wine by glass program. Great service.

Don't Waste Your Money

By Jones1107 |

Seating was horrible, food was less than, and the hostess had no idea what was going on and neither did the manager when a guest asked to speak with him regarding the service. It was not busy and were multiple visible open table yet a 20 minute wait with a line of 8-10 people while. Food wasn't great which is not like a Ruth's Chris Steak House....maybe it is just this one in San Antonio.

What Can I Say?

By Karen W |

The food was fantastic, the service superb and the atmosphere charming. Yes, it’s expensive but well worth it.

Birthday Dinner

By JenniferL754 |

Birthday dinner reservation on 2/29/20. This location has done a complete 180 from our visit last year. Last year my husband ordered the bone-in filet and he was served a ribeye. The young and inexperienced waiter said it was his favorite cut, so that’s what he turned in for the order. Not wanting to wait for new steaks, my husband just ate the ribeye. THIS YEAR - all service was exemplary. We had the large seafood tower and it was spectacular. Service was prompt and friendly and efficient. Steaks were cooked to perfection. We were so full from the seafood tower that we brought most of the steak home. The visiting Manager from Toronto was very nice.

Fantastic Restaurant and Bar

By PETERMEX |

Excellent restaurant with Ruth’s Chris quality guarantee. The bar area is my favorite and where I always request my table. Huge bar with excellent waiters, also has high tables for more people. It has a happy hour with dishes and drinks of the best in the industry. Very good food. From the classic steaks to the sensational burger. My favorite place in San Antonio.

Excellent as always

By Kathleen C |

I really cannot say anything more except that is is a sure bet to come here as always - excellent food and service.

Order Steak

By CKay711 |

I went twice-both for business. The first time I got a chicken with salad. It was the driest piece of chicken I have ever been served at a restaurant. The next day I ordered the Portobello Medallion Salad. It was superb! Very tasting seasoning on both the Portobello and steak. The steak was cooked perfectly! I am so glad I went back a second time. The moral of the story is don't order chicken at a steak house!

Great happy hour

By maggiet0813 |

We had dinner before a show at the Lila Cockrell theatre and it was the perfect spot. The bar has a happy hour from 3-6:30pm and for most of the items offered (including the drinks) the prices are 50% off. They have a hamburger, a chicken sandwich, etc. It was perfect.

Best experience!

By Daniel |

Get that man Mike to be your waiter ! Professional, courteous, friendly and made sure our first experience there was perfect from beginning to end. We will be going back and asking for him personally. Thanks again Mike for the experience and conversation.

Highly Disappointed

By Judith R |

I've heard about how excellent Ruth's Chris was for years, and I was excited for us to finally get to dine here. This did not meet my expectations. The service was horrible. We arrived early for our reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Then, we were rushed through ordering by our server. Our salad arrived before our appetizer, and we were rushed into ordering our entree. The food was mediocre at best. Everything was over cooked, from our baked potato, which had skins like leather, to our asparagus, which was over grilled. The steaks were not what I would expect from a steakhouse. My husband does steaks better at home! Fr what we paid for our dinner, I would have thought we would have had a much better quality of food. Our waiter was not attentive to detail, and we had to repeatedly ask for things.I was highly disappointed in our experience and would not recommend this location to anyone.

Great Experience

Jarvis and Alonso were absolutely wonderful, gave great service. Food and drinks were great quality and quantity.

Ruth's Chris Steak House River Walk

By mjoao1962 |

was my first time at Ruth's ,one of the best places in the river walk(really) as most places there are commercialize / touristic places like franchises with okay service but this place was a surprise and we love their calamari, was out of this world, I am sure we have to go back to another Ruth's somewhere just for the calamari

Yummy !!!

By Shopalot1 |

If you’re looking for excellent service and delicious food, you’ve come to the right restaurant. The service was very good. Very attentive. The food was DELICIOUS! I had the filet mignon and lobster. They were equally yummy! I was beginning to think I had to go to Maine to find great lobster but not so. Just find your way to San Antonio Ruth’s Chris and enjoy. Can’t wait to return.

Amazing as Always!

By Deanna P |

We had dinner here with our daughter and her fiancé, celebrating their engagement. Everything was perfect, except we got a remarkably small lobster tail. The manager gave us another one and didn’t charge for either. We had a great time, the waiter was very attentive, the steaks perfectly cooked. Definitely the place to go for a great steak!

Let down for a Ruth Chris.

By Mchumphries72 |

Let down for a Ruth Chris. We had lunch here during our trip. We have eaten at many Ruth Chris in different cities. This one just went up to standards. The “B” team must get the lunch shifts. Waiter was not the professional we have come to expect from RC. Food was just ok. Not much sizzle on the steaks.

Nice dinner

By LostInTime |

I walked in late on a Wednesday night. The place wasn’t crowded. I sat at the bar and had the sea food tower. The shrimp, lobster and crab were great. Everyone was very nice. And enjoyable dinner.

Outstanding service!

By Alli L |

Visiting from the USVI, Absolutely amazing service! Both bartenders were so sweet. Manager was attentive. We stopped for brunch before we left the hotel. Will DEFINITELY be back if we come to San Antonio again! My boyfriend said the steak and eggs (filet) was outstanding and cooked perfectly. Mine was awesome too, some of the best hollandaise I’ve ever had. Thanks again for the hospitality!

Great quality and variety, not just steak

By sola123 |

We enjoyed dinner on the patio, and with all the appetizers and salads, with very generous servings, we were happy enough to skip the steaks and still enjoy a full dinner.

Great Dinner with Friends

By HarlanJF |

Since most of us were staying at the Grand Hyatt, the location couldn't have been better. It is attached to the hotel. It is also on one end of the Riverwalk. In any case, the food was very tasty and the wine was also. The service was fine. Our dinner companions were so much fun, that my guess is the meal would have been enjoyable wherever we went for dinner. However, good food always helps.

Not up to expectations

By Dutch_Travel-R |

After a rather disappointing visit in NY City, I gave Ruth's another chance in San Antonio as the restaurant was conveniently located in the Grand Hyatt. What is wrong with this chain? Ready to spend $100+ dollars on a dinner, I was not allowed to sit at a table inside even though the restaurant was half empty. As I did not prefer the bar, I was offered a table outside. 60 degrees in only a shirt, that is cold! I moved several times to get maximum benefit of the heat lamps. I got the bone-in-steak signature filet, which in fact was quite good. However, it was served with cold fries. They must have been standing around for quite some time. When I finally got the waiters attention, they were exchanged for another serving. However, for a total charge of $145 (including tip for one person) this just should not happen. Last time for me at Ruth's.

Great setting, good lunch choices

By live4wknds |

Nice shaded patio on the river walk, open air to the restaurant and bar. Lunch options were great and ranged from steaks to sandwiches, and salads. Friendly service (not super speedy).

Medium rare steak ordered was delivered to the table well done Great service

By drsusansmith2016 |

I went for lunch. They had a special included soup/salad/ mashed potatoes or cream spinach and filet with shrimp. They offered to substitute fries when I said no need to give me mashed potatoes or spinach as it would be a waste. The french onion soup was fantastic. The fries were fine. I double checked that I asked for medium rare before the steak came and was assured I did. I asked the waitress if she thought it was MR. She agreed it was NOT. She got the manager and he agreed it was way overcooked. I was offered another. I said no thanks-Id just pay for the soup.(What if it had been bad- would I have had to send it back too?And it was LOADED with pepper which I dont appreciate and was not mentioned on the menu) He apologized and said no charge at all. They handled it well.

Both Good and Bad

By Global_Identity |

Visited here with co-workers while in town for business. We were seated promptly, and the service was very attentive and friendly. I ordered a steak as I typically do, medium well. I've eaten at Ruth's Chris restaurants around the world, and most of the time my steak is cooked just as I order it. This time, my steak was cooked a little less than medium, and was still bloody in the center. So dinner here was disappointing.

Ruth's Chris close to the airport is better.

By Richard B |

While they are all very good, the food, service, and atmosphere are not quite up to the level of the Ruth's Chris on Jones Maltsburger near the airport. maybe with so many tourists available as customers they don't have to try quite as hard.

Perfect Wedding Anniversary

By KristiatSAtown |

We were welcomed promptly. We arrived earlier than our reservations, so we were seated early due to availability. We had a wonderful table for two on the patio overlooking the river walk. They have a very extensive wine list and full bar. I enjoyed the pomegranate martini. The stuffed mushrooms were amazing. Bread and butter complimentary. Choices for water-bottled, sparkling or tap. My husband had the rib-eye. Best steak he’s ever had! We split the lobster Mac n cheese, it was pretty good. Very large serving. I ordered the stuffed chicken. Just ok- nothing special. I did also order an entree extra- crab cake with asparagus and a delicious sauce. Wish I could of had a bigger serving of that and call it my dinner. Bread pudding for desssrt, it was also ok. They do have an large dessert list so we plan to return and try more of the desserts. Over all drinks are expensive and not very strong, but taste good. Appetizer was great. Steak was great. Crab cake was great. Stuffed mushrooms were great. Service was top notch. We will return again and bring our sons.

Excellent service and Steaks

By Krogers7256@yahoo.com |

Highly recommend the steaks. And the lobster bisque was to die for. Excellent service and extremely clean

Toe Curling Food

By wnc0nn3 |

Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse was very well worth the wait. I have always wanted to try their food. Yes, they are expensive, but well worth it. If you don’t mind paying for a nice meal, this is the place to go. The service was remarkable. Will definitely return.

Excellent steak house

By Traveltheorient |

We had a petite steak, New York strip steak, creamed spinach, brussels sprouts, baked potato and French fries. The brussels sprouts were exceptionally good. The steaks were cooked to perfection.

Wonderful dinner with extra attentive service

By dlpil0t |

Our anniversary dinner was excellent. I didn't remember telling the hostess we were coming to celebrate an anniversary when I made the reservation, but when shown to our table it was simply decorated to say "happy anniversary" and all the wait staff told us congratulations. Our server was Austin, and he did an superb job. The wine and steaks were just right. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

Could Not Have Been Better

By John08753 |

Best meal in San Antonio on my business trip last week. Could not have asked for a better steak. Side dishes were big enough to share. The steak itself was perfectly prepared to my liking and melted in my mouth.

Wonderful breakfast buffet

By 499larryr |

This Ruth's Chris Steak House is located in the Grand Hyatt Hotel and is the breakfast restaurant for the hotel. I consider Ruth's Chris Steak House restaurants to be 5-star restaurants but for breakfast at a hotel it is much too expensive with the buffet costing about $35.00/person with taxes and tip. While the service was attentive, accommodating, and friendly, this hotel needs a less-expensive option with a full breakfast menu. I don't blame the restaurant; I blame the hotel.

Not bad

By Alan P |

In fairness, this is a steakhouse, and I am not a big fan of steakhouse food, so bear that in mind as you read this review. I ordered the fish of the day - which was, I think, Red Snapper with Crab. The fish was overcooked, but more importantly, it was swimming in butter, and I did not enjoy it at all. The sides were fine, but again so rich I couldn't each much of it. To be clear I am not a health nut, but there is a level of too much butter/fat where things are just not nice to eat. Otherwise, the service was great - the location good.

It is Ruth's Chris Steak House. Need I say more?

By W. L P |

Excellent, service, exceptional food, This restaurant will make you happy that you decided to dine there,

Perfect Steak!

By CJM |

Excellant food and service! So worth the price. We really enjoyed the sides. We have made it a tradition to eat here when travelling.

It was a gray Thanksgiving meal!

By Charles P |

We went to Ruth’s Chris downtown San Antonio for Thanksgiving. I just want to say the Thanksgiving menu was delicious. Most importantly, Kudos to the Chef! We have never tasted turkey so good. It was cooked to perfection—so moist and tender! Chef—GREAT JOB‼️😋

Crab Beignets!!

By Pamela F |

The drinks and food were great! The crab beignets were my favorite! It's a smaller location, but the food wasn't any less amazing. Happy hour there is great as well. Make sure to try both the dinner and the happy hour.

Great steak and service

By Jeffrey O |

WE stayed at the Grand Hyatt and this place was inside the hotel. I enjoyed the place, good food and service. Great location to , right on the river walk

Great steak and better service!

By Russell P |

Late nite on a Saturday five biz friends enjoying a beer at the bar in the Grand Hyatt, decided to have a steak downstairs at Ruth’s. Upstairs bar manager got us in to a high top in the bar, sweet. The Bartender/Waiter at Ruth’s was almost the best part! He was knowledgeable, funny and a great sports enthusiast! Steaks, wine, sides were all perfect. Shared T-bone for 2 and filets for the rest! Great meal, great time, lots of fun!

Brunch discontinued?

By TowerguyMissouri |

A fantastic place for fantastic meals. Then they stopped serving brunch. I cried. I think we need a MoveOn campaign to get them to offer brunch again!

Great food and neat location.

By John T |

I love steak. Apparently this place does too. This is a newer location and while I have a favorite steak house on the river walk I was willing to go back the Ruth’s Chris. I am so glad I did. They have traditional seating inside, but heck, springtime in Texas in the river walk I wanted outside. Nestled right on the river we enjoyed two delicious steaks. They even gave us a cheesecake since we were celebrating our 20 year anniversary. The food is excellent. Truly excellent. Obviously you have to pay more for this quality of steak, but it’s worth it. Give it a try and head there.

Terrible Customer Service

By Misti O |

We hosted a large party here and the customer service was horrible. I was absolutely amazed when paying these prices for the management to be unbelievably rude and unaccommodating. The steaks were good but the rest of the food items were not. Certainly not worth the money.

Disappointing

By Rena D |

Went for happy hour and although the burger was delicious, the accompanying fries were cold and limp. Ugh.... The bartender was very friendly!

Great Place to Gather with Friends

By Charles P |

We went to Ruth’s Chris last night with four friends from out of town. Sara our bartender/server did an OUTSTANDING job‼️ She was very efficient and attentive ‼️ She made our evening and we had a great time together‼️ If you go to Ruth’s Chris downtown, you should definitely ask for Sara—she will make your evening a great and memorable one‼️

Fall dinner

By Jimksatx_11 |

It was the Thursday evening we made a reservation for 6 arrived at 5:30 found a nice seat outside by the river had their special which comes with a salad entree and dessert our bill for both of us was $95 plus the tip the food was great have nothing but good things to say for the restaurant beautiful facility at the base of the Grand Hyatt

Fantastic Riverwalk Restaurant

By Charles P |

We are regulars at Ruth’s Chris. It is our go to restaurant for excellent food, drinks and just GREAT FUN! Ruth’s Chris also has the BEST HAPPY HOUR in San Antonio! Sara and all the bartenders are just FANTASTIC—they make great drinks and they have great personalities and make our evenings so enjoyable! The management (David and Carlos) are GREAT—they are always there to ensure your experience at Ruth’s is everything you envisioned for a perfect night out! The entire serving staff, the hostesses and the Chef and his staff are excellent! As you can tell, we really enjoy going to Ruth’s Chris‼️

Ruth Chris never disappoints

By Cynthia S |

I also eat at Ruth's Chris when staying in San Antonio for conferences. Have also hosted many work dinners there as well. They do a fantastic job and the steaks are tasty!

Not up to expected standard

By grenisv |

Had dinner last night with business associates. Seating was good, wine was nice. Service was mediocre. My steak was a bit dry and tough. We felt neglected by our server. Disappointed.

Tipping over 20 bucks for 5 mins of work.

By whileitravel |

Enjoy going to Ruth's. Have been to the one in Toronto, NYC, Las Vegas and San Antonio. All set serve a great steak with great ambiance. Ordered the petit filet and cream spinach. Merlot from Duckhorn. Everything was delicious. Service was excellent. I arrived really early where there was virtually no one in the place. Really nice place. Anyone else think paying 20% on a $100+ meal needs to stop? I do. The establishment should give a better wage. Hate how the percentage of tip pops up at transaction and its never below 18%.

Great dinner!!!

By Randy H |

Great experience, great food, great service! The steaks are definitely prime and cooked perfect. Jarvis our waiter was top notch. Ask for his section when you go.

The Standard for steak!

By beeedell |

Always a great meal-steaks clearly are their thing but there are other options. Attentive service, nice wine list; calamari was a highlight!

Great Hotel Breakfast

By Matanitravels |

This was located in our hotel, and so we popped down for breakfast before our day. I had the steak and eggs. The fillet was perfect, but the eggs were a bit runny. My son had the buffet. Fresh fruit, cereal, eggs, potatoes, and meats. There is also an omelette bar included in the buffet as well as drinks.

Thanksgiving

By Sherry Lappe |

Looked forward to a nice Thanksgiving dinner. Ordered the Turkey and sides. Gravy was so overloaded with rosemary it literally tasted like soap. I was only able to take a few bites and just couldn’t get past the taste. When they took my plate, I specifically asked what the herb was in the gravy and I was told rosemary. He could clearly see I hardly ate anything and I even said that I did not care for the gravy. There was absolutely no attempt to make it right, no options for a substitution or even to take anything off of the check. Horrible experience and food. Sorry, just any attempt to do something, anything, would have made it a better experience.

Very disappointing experience

By OnTheRoadAgain8180 |

Having dined at a number of high end steakhouses across the country and internationally, including a half dozen Ruth's Chris, we were looking forward to our dinner here earlier this month. Unfortunately it turned into a total failure, from the very long wait for service to steaks that were undercooked and lukewarm, even after multiple attempts. The steaks did not measure up to what you would expect at a Longhorn's, much less Ruth's Chris. We will absolutely never eat at this Ruth's Chris again, and it has soured us on Ruth's Chris anywhere for that matter. Fortunately the rest of our dining experiences were all very good to excellent, so there are certainly many other great options to consider.

Great location; TERRIBLE Service!

By Bill R |

Excellent location right on the Riverwalk! We came in for a nice dinner and it started out fine. Our waitress took our order and then we never saw her again! Someone else brought our food to the table (the food was good!) No one ever checked on us; our very small glasses of lemonade (cost $2.50 each) were never refilled; we did not even get a visit from the manager. I finally had to ask the guy who filled our water glasses to bring us our check. High prices and terrible service! I would not recommend this place to anyone!

this location is not of the caliber of the other locations

By L G L |

My 2nd visit in 4 months - same result - a business meeting luncheon cheeseburger served cold, no spices cold bun chicken sandwich cold bun - meat - luke warm although spiced well fillet sandwich - bun cold , meat cold not very much taste it took 30+ minutes after order to get food and then disappointing not worth the $87.00 cost

Fantastic Food

By Sumertime96 |

The restaurant was very convenient as it was in the hotel where I was staying for a conference. The NY Strip almost melted in my mouth and the Cesar salad, bread and asparagus I had with it were just as good. The portion size of everything was enough for 2 meals which helps if the high prices might scare you off---just think, two meals for the price of one!

Excellent

By momdadkidsTexas |

From other reviews, it looks like they need to shape up. I personally had an excellent experience. My friend and I had the $32 lunch special, and it was great. A salad, steak and one side for $32 is a good deal at this place. The salad was unremarkable, but the steak, shrimp and mashed potatoes were excellent. It was a delicious, perfectly cooked steak.

Over rated

By Carlos F |

I am Active Duty military and separated from my wife due to service. I wanted to celebrate my anniversary and thought why not the best steak house. Our waiter was awesome and appetizers were good but the steak was far from what was expected and talked about. I ask for a medium rare steak and it was rare, it would have been alright but it wasn't tender at all. My wife got the rib eye and that too was not anywhere near what we expected. I told the waiter and he was surprised, the manger came out and asked questions but he didn't acknowledge the quality or lack of the steak. I eat at Long Horn Steak House and those steaks were better and cheaper than what we received at this restaurant. For the price it was disappointing.

Good and close

By lynn25med |

Generally speaking, I don't like eating at chains when I travel. I had dinner there and it was consistent with previous other dinners at this chain. My one complaint was we were a large conference and on my departure date I went to eat lunch here (wanted a salad) and was told they were not seating because too many people came in at once. Interesting for a business to turn away business. Maybe have a call schedule for emergent staffing but felt this was an unacceptable answer and left me with negative vibes

Thanksgiving Day Dinner

By Allan L |

This was my 3rd visit to a Ruth's Chris Restaurant. I was in a party of 4. We all ordered the turkey dinner. When my plate arrived, it had a generous portion of sliced white meat turkey beneath gravy, along with the other things that we all expect for the occasion. My first forkful of turkey was cold. All four of our portions were cold, so we had to send them back. Then we had the wait staff scurrying back and forth in damage control mode, as we were first interrupted by the waiter, and later by the maitre d' apologizing for the error. In my opinion, none of our platters should have left the kitchen, since none of them was piping hot, as would be evidenced by steam rising. I expect an establishment like Ruth's Chris to be excellent in all respects, especially when this experience is considered in relation to the cost per meal. Perhaps they should serve steaks only, and leave the Thanksgiving Dinner fare to other restaurants that are committed to providing an excellent experience for their patrons.

Don't bother

By guybeau2016 |

I hope this is a franchisee of Ruth's Chris and not a corporate owned store. Everything about our meal was forgettable. The steaks were not what I was used to from other Ruth's Chris. The waiter was less than helpful. He calling my friend's wife "sweetie." Not a good experience.

superb breakfast

was staying at the Grand Hyatt and i went downstairs for breakfast. this is a great place for that meal. nice menu with plenty of offerings. service is great, food is great. highly recommend

Relax and Rejuvenate

By christinedernick |

We stopped in at the spur of the moment hoping we would get a reservation during spring break and were pleasantly surprised that they could accommodate us. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, service was excellent and of course the food exceptional as always.

Excellent Food & Service!

By yendistonio |

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt in San Antonio for four days and we ate at or from this place several times. The lamb-chops and the steaks were great! I will be searching to find one in Houston when we get back home.

Amazing Food And Services

By wstl01mailboxreg2017 |

Steak was cooked to perfection and garlic broccolini was amazing all on top of great service that you expect from Ruth Chris Steak. Perfect location. After dinner head down the steps for a relaxing walk on the Riverwalk.

Great place to come to if you want to be ignored by the staff.

What should I say to take this to 100 characters? Apparently they’re too busy to ask if you want anything. At least at the bar. Was going to eat, but my hunger passed.

Great Steaks

By f c |

steaks were cooked very well. mashed potatoes were wonderful. seared ahi was very good. cocktails were great!

Disappointed

By Noah S |

Wanted so much for this to be a 5 but what a let down. Our appetizer, crabs stuffed mushrooms were the highlight. Our steaks, though cooked perfectly were flavorless. Veggie is a la cartel and very pricey. We dropped a lot of $$$$ for a mediocre meal.

Ok for a veggie too!!

By Margie R |

Went with 2 meat eaters who frequent Ruth's Chris throughout North America. Nice atmosphere, good service. Ordered the veggie platter that came full of perfectly steamed/roasted broccoli, portobello mushroom, carrots, asparagus and creamy mashed potatoes!! So much food that I couldn't even finish it! Not expecting to be this satisfied - but happy to say I would go back again.

Premier service and excellent food

By Dede A |

We were in town for a convention and went with a large group. We had 4 servers Luis, Michael, Jarvis and Ruby. They were exemplary! The food and service were both fabulous. I'd definitely return.

Not bad for a quick meal

By Gabriel H |

This steak house is the main restaurant of the Grand Hyatt, the main hotel attached to the San Antonio convention center. During conventions, or when the hotel is full, the restaurant is packed for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It offers indoor and outdoor seating in an idyllic location, overlooking the Riverwalk. Service is often harried and spotty and food is average, certainly not comparable to some of the free-standing restaurants of this chain. The breakfast buffet is varied and generous. prices are reasonable, by convention standards.

Not as good as other Ruth Chris locations.

By Disappointed |

We've been to two other Ruth's Chris and this was our least favorite location. Overall feel of the restuatant was blah, food was extremely slow, service was average. Other locations are definitely better. We won't be coming back to this location.

Disappointing

By DBAggie83 |

Ruth's Chris is always great so we decided to eat there since we were staying on the Riverwalk. We entered from the river and the immediate first impression was their outdoor patio that was currently not being used and had trash and leaves piled up. We had a reservation but were seated at the kitchen doors after another couple rejected the table. Didn't see much of our waiter. Many other nuances that shouldn't happen in what I consider nice restaurant. Skip this location and eat elsewhere. Food was fantastic, manager needs to find a new occupation.

Beautiful day and wonderful time with colleagues

Jarvis, Mike, Luis was awesome!! Thank you ! Just in time for happy hour and is was delicious! Is you are in town, it’s a must with the beautiful and relaxing view .

Wifes Birthday

By Alejandro B |

Came here to enjoy the night with my wife since it was here birthday. The place was some what busy but not crazy. We waited for about 20 minutes for our drinks. Then the salad and steaks came out at the exact same time. Seemed like they were trying to push people out as fast as they could to get more tables. Have gone to a Ruth's Chris before and never had an experience like this. Was a really disappointing experience for my wife and I. Especially since we got a babysitter for the night for this special day. I've missed her birthdays for years due to deployments or field exercises so we were really looking forward to this day.

Same great everything.

By cannonater |

Had a few minutes to kill in between events. Had an appetizer coupon and had the hot clump crab appetizer and it was excellent and very filling.

Great Customer Service!

By Karine V |

John, our waiter at Ruth's Chris on the Riverwalk, truly elevated our Christmas dinner into a delightful experience. He mentioned that he was relatively new to the job, but you would never have guessed it from his confident demeanor and welcoming nature. His infectious personality and attentiveness made us feel right at home, turning what could have been just another meal into a memorable celebration.

Dinner with friends

By Linda Sue B |

Excellent steaks for all 4 of us. Caesar salad was delicious. Sides of augratin potatoes were delicious as were the bacon Brussel sprouts. Sides were enough to share between all four of us. Overall, very good food, service and the “plates sizzled’.

Overcooked lunch, bad service

By Dan H |

Here for a conference, went to Ruth's Chris for lunch - ordered a burger medium well. Also ordered an iced tea. Wanted additional sweetener, asked waiter for some - did see him for 15 minutes we finally stopped someone else and got some. Burger finally arrived (20 minutes) - looked and tasted like a hockey puck. Fries were also lukewarm. Waiter never really checked with us. For a high end establishment I thought the service was very poor.

Bad service and food

By Jan M |

Zero. We and a 5:30 reservation and decided to have a drink in the bar amd appetizer. No one waited on us in the bar until we approach a waitress. We went to our 5:30 reservation, waited 30 minutes and were not waited on. We were ready to leave. The head waiter came over. Ordered a filet. Over cooked and dry We have eaten at several Ruth Chris Steakhouse and have excellent food and service. Don't go here

Wait Staff Didn't Have a Clue

By David W |

Hopefully this was due to the Final Four and the confusion that it brings, but the place was definitely not slammed for service either time that we stopped by. We went there the morning of the Championship game fairly early to make a reservation so we could have dinner before the game. When we made our way to the hostess we asked about reservations and she said that they do not take them before 5 p.m., which seemed very odd. I asked her if she was sure and she was very confident of herself so we proceeded to continue along the Boardwalk. We went back at 5 p.m. hoping to be able to get a seat and were told that they were not taking reservations anymore and we would have had to make them before 5 p.m. Either way, we weren't going to wait around and chance missing any of the Championship game so we found another steak house and enjoyed our meal. Like I said, maybe chalk it up to a busy weekend and inexperienced wait staff, but you would think that something as simple as making a reservation wouldn't be extremely difficult. At the very least, just say you aren't taking reservations and the problem is solved.

Not worth visiting.

By mazolia |

Given that “Ruth’s” prides itself on service, this place is disappointing. Someone needs to define the word “service” to the mgt and staff. No one here gets it. Our visit started badly when the hostess denied we had a reservation despite the RC confirmation # on my phone. Should have left then but in Xmas day not much is open. After being seated it was an eternity before the server appeared. After ordering appetizers and drinks took forever to arrive. Main course brought out before appetizer plates cleared, etc. Of course server had no place to put food. No kidding. This went on the entire meal. No checking on the table at all. My wife and I like RC restaurants and have dined at many. Most, like the one in Sarasota Fl and the one in Park City Ut are great. This one is not. Avoid this one if you can.

Best steak and sides hands down with hospitality to warm your heart

By Brian M |

Best steak and sides I have literally ever had. Cowboy ribeye, asparagus with hollandaise, au Gratin potatoes. Ask for Jarvis he is wonderful! Makes you feel at home.

Promised so much

By TeamHF |

But didn’t deliver against expectations. For what you are paying, frankly you expect more. Service is ok. Wine is good but expensive. The steak was alright but not what it is hyped up to be. BBQ shrimp main course was way too sweet and rich. Vegetables were not hot. Just not worth the premium in our opinion.

Free valet parking, beautiful restaurant and of course serious steaks

By LanSluderBelize |

You learn something new every day -- in this case I learned that if you have lunch or dinner at this location of Ruth's Chris, you get free valet parking. Just pull up to the Grand Hyatt, the valet person will take care of your car and Ruth's Chris will validate your parking ticket. That's pretty cool for the Riverwalk! I've eaten at a lot of Ruth's Chris locations around the U.S., and this location is one of the most appealing I've visited. You can eat on patio overlooking the river (it was about 95 degrees but somehow the way the patio is designed it was very comfortable and not hot at all) or inside at the big bar area or in the main dining room. On this visit I had the New York Strip, which is my favorite Prime cut. It was really, really flavorful. This is serious steak! As Ruth's Chris promises, it was served sizzling, and because it's broiled at 1800 degrees and served on 500 degree plates, it stays nice and hot. As I usually do I started with the Wedge Salad, which has the best blue cheese dressing I've ever had, and also I had the mushrooms. I think this is one of the few Ruth's Chris restaurants to serve breakfast and lunch every day as well as dinner. Our server was very pleasant and gave us just the right amount of service without being intrusive. I met the manager, Lanae, who does a great job. She showed me the private dining rooms, which would be a great place for a business meeting or a private party.

Not what I expected

By jeka_71000 |

The food was mediocre, and way too expensive for the taste. The 50 acre wine was awesome though. We won’t be back. My husband really wanted to love this place :(

Great atmosphere and service...

By bonaventure |

Have had several friends dine here with mixed reviews, mostly about the rude service depending on your appearance. Apparently jeans, shorts, t-shirts, flip flops are not in vogue here. None the less, while enjoying the River Walk, we stopped in for dinner. Fortunately, we were seated in about 5 minutes, if we had been any later I think we would have ended up waiting at least 1/2 hour or more as I did not see any other vacant tables when we were seated. As busy as they we, we were promptly greeted by a server after being seated and our drink order taken. Our server returned with our drinks about 10 minutes later and took out order. We both ordered the petite filet & shrimp, creamed spinach and baked potato. Our filets were cooked to perfection, "Medium rare" The creamed spinach was delicious, they say it is chopped spinach in a New Orleans cream sauce. As busy as they were, our server was very attentive, polite and friendly... we were extremely pleased with the service as well as the food and the atmosphere. Just in case you are wondering, I was dressed in slacks and sport coat.

Great experience!

By Amanda R |

My boyfriend and I visited this location and celebrated his birthday dinner and it was fantastic!! It was our first time and we will definitely be back! Our server Mike made our experience even more memorable. He was very informative and knew every detail about the menu and had great suggestions. From the ambience, to the food, and the staff!! This place is definitely worth a visit. I also want to thank the manager David for taking the time to stop by our table and make sure we were enjoying our experience.

Scrumptious

By tazmachine69 |

I was staying at the Grand Hyatt and ordered a Ruth's Prime Burger through room service, it was amazingly delicious and the fries were awesome, I love the seasonings. Very generous portion of food.

Lovely Brunch 🍳

By C. Miller12 |

This hotel based restaurant offers a nice brunch selection. There is a buffet, but omelettes & waffles are made to order! The Bloody Mary was perfect 👌🏻!

While at the Grand Hyatt, eat here.

By GC50MH56 |

We've always liked Ruth's Chris, and the restaurant being in the Grand Hyatt was an extra bonus. We know timea are tough for the hospitality industry, and in normal times, the business casual dress and removal of hats requirement would probably have been enforced. Too many jeans, tennis shoes and ball caps in attendance. I ordered the Rib-Eye steak, while my husband had a Filet. Both were done perfectly and sizzling. If you want an exquisite melt-in-your mouth experience, order extra butter on top of the steak. Yes, I know it's not healthy, but you don't always eat like that, do you? The service was also great, as befits an expensive first rate steakhouse. They didn't really have a kid's menu, but we asked our server if they could delete the lobster from their mac-n-cheese and they were happy to do it for our 4 year-old son. I happily and wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

Ask for Jarvis !!

By WLDune |

We enjoyed the beautiful patio on the river walk for happy hour. Jarvis was our server and made our experience the most enjoyable!! He was attentive, friendly, efficient and accurate. What a refreshing pleasure. Thank you, Jarvis - for the great experience.

Business Dinner

I have been to other Ruth's Chris's but this one is at the top of them. The service was excellent and the lobster bisque was superb. All of the food perfect.

Best Luxurious Bar and steaks at the River Walk

By PETERMEX |

Great Bar and restaurant near the river walk. Fantastic staff, congratulations to Chelsea a superstar at the Bar. I visit this restaurant frequently.

Only if you want to splurge

By noella041 |

The food was good . Smaller portion than what I’m used to but very good. It’s pricey of course but you can get an appetizer during happy hour and drinks if you don’t want the full experience. Wait staff at bar was nice but it was early and they would disappear some. Probably could have sold me one more drink. Maybe changing shifts not sure

Lunch before leaving

By Missplummer83 |

The location of the restaurant is perfect because it’s inside the Hyatt which is where I was staying and it is right on the river walk. My waitress, Larissa (I believe that was her name) was very nice and attentive. I was disappointed with the food. I had a gift card and this was my first time eating at Ruth’s Chris so I was looking forward to it. I got the lunch prefix menu and the price was reasonable but the food was just okay. I got the house salad and the greens were very bitter and there were a lot of stems. I think the mashed potatoes were box potatoes or they were over whipped. The shrimp was good but the steak was just okay. I asked for my streak to be well done but it was still pink in the middle and the flavor was just okay. I got key lime pie and it was awful. The texture was really weird. It was almost like a gelatin. The location is awesome and the service was great but I was not a fan of the food, especially the key lime pie.

Close to expectations, but not quite there

By Bobby Jade |

Service was good, as was the food. Neither was exceptional nor on par for the price. Atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable. Location was also nice.

Pretty much what you expect from Roth's Chris

By Jon F |

I always have high expectations when we eat here. The food, service and atmosphere were very good. Those in our party that ordered steak thought each steak was a bit overdone. Otherwise we enjoyed the meal.

Best steak sandwich

By TheDude1974 |

Located on the Riverwalk, this Ruth’s Chris is attached to the Grand Hyatt hotel in San Antonio. While I did not have dinner, I had lunch a few times and each time was spectacular. We were in a hurry a few times, and each time they accommodated and quickly got our food and drinks. Best steak sandwich I’ve ever had, with a prime cut of beef, thinly sliced on top of a bun. You can sit inside or outside, attentive and professional servers.

Call before you go

By Melissa H |

I made reservations in January provided them with my telephone number and email address. We arrived for dinner and start to order a drink. The waitress comes back and says before I put your drink order in I have to tell you we have no shrimp, or actually any seafood at all. We don't have chicken either. I said so what you're saying is I can only order a steak and that's it. She said yes, I said well that's not going to work because I only eat seafood or chicken (my boyfriend does eat steak). So now here we are with no reservations to any other restaurant, and I walked there in heels on the Riverwalk. Thankfully Morten's Steakhouse had availability, so we went there. If you are having a supply shortage why not reach out to those who had reservations with you to inform them of your shortage before they actually come to the restaurant to eat?

Ruth Chris at the Grand Hyatt

By 2016Barfly |

Best Happy hour in San Antonio!! Great cocktails and you need to try the Shrimp Voodoo. The atmosphere is elegant yet relax. San Antonio riverwalk is next to the restaurant.

Best steak

By Frightenedbunny |

No surprise. These guys are known for their steaks and it was confirmed. My traveling partners was slightly under medium. Although maybe my med rare was overlooked. But mine tasted great. So who knows. Anyhow. A totally a la carte restaurant. You order a steak. THats what you get. But it’s a good one. Have a great glass of wine. And enjoy!!

Disappointing and overpriced

By Gea |

Four of us came here for lunch in between business meetings. The entire experience was disappointing. Once we were seated, and as we were in a bit of a hurry, we ordered salads and sandwiches from the menu - relatively light and easy-to-assemble fare. Our food took nearly forty minutes to arrive and it was lukewarm and very overpriced, considering it was also lackluster in flavor. The staff did not seem concerned by the fact that we had waited for so long for some of their most low-maintenance menu items, and they barely filled our water glasses when empty. I would not recommend this venue for lunch or dinner unless you have a lot of time and cash to burn.

Amazing service and amazing food!

By kristie c |

My family and I went to Ruth's Chris recently. Leopold was our server and was the best! We kept asking him about the city and things to do. He really went out of his way to get ideas for us. The food was AMAZING! I had filet and shrimp- oh wow- amazing! This was my first dining experience at Ruth's Chris and will not be my last!

Great food

By Kathy A |

Great food, excellent service. Side dishes big enough to share. They are extremely expensive, my only complaint.

So Unimpressed

By Susan S |

We have seen Ruth’s Chris in many places including new home in Denver and in Hawaii but never tried them. Finally decided to give the on here on the San Antonio Riverwalk a try to make our time memorable. Well the memories aren’t as we had hoped. This place so unimpressed us we will never give another one a try. The service wasn’t very good. And the steaks were not very tasty. Geewhiz for those kinda prices everything should be top notch. We’ve had MUCH Much better steaks at Texas Roadhouse back home in CO. I would not recommend this place.

Best steak restaurant & lovely atmosphere

By Bella J |

We made reservations to have dinner to celebrate my birthday. The Meal was spectacular. We started off with shrimp Voodoo and the Oso Bucco Ravioli, both were delicious. My boyfriend had the Cowboy Ribeye and I have the stuffed chicken, cooked to perfection and full of delicious flavor. I had an espresso martini & he had a Sidecar something drink they were incredible then finished off with 2 Carajillos. Best I've ever had. We will absolutely come back. Luis was our server, Samara was the young lady who brought out our food with care & a smile, Sarah was our bartender. We were so thrilled.

Downtown Ruth’s Chris Restaurant

By Charles P |

We consider Ruth’s Chris as our go to restaurant but lately the restaurant has gone downhill. We ate there last night and had the Oscar Style crab cake—it came cold and not on a heated plate as usual. Then as we sitting at the bar a roach came crawling by—disgusting. There seems to be roach problem and the need of an exterminator. Another issue is the loss of great people (managers, servers, and bartenders). Apparently, there is a corporate problem with hiring and maintaining great people! Since the downtown restaurant was not part of the Darden purchase, corporate needs to focus on improving this once great restaurant!

Excellent steaks

By BrookeMorales |

This upscale restaurant is beautifully decorated and oozes charm and elegance. Very friendly and attentive staff. Steaks are beautifully cooked, tasty, great meat quality. The restaurant is pricy but the food is worth every cent.

Not The Place for Breakfast

By wrestlerUMCP |

Too many issues at this restaurant: slow service, a picked over breakfast buffet and outside seating that was oddly closed on the mornings we went. The place seemed short staffed and overwhelmed -- issues that could and should be fixed. Unless you have an hour plus to spare, avoid breakfast here.

Not what I was expecting - disappointed

By Acey15225 |

We went at 12:30 on a Sunday. I was hoping to sit outside on the walk and while they do have seating outside it was not suitable for the cool weather. So we were sat inside against a wall. No view at all. I was thinking brunch type food. But only lunch was being served after 11. I had a Bloody Mary that was very good. Lobster bisque that was OK. and a 1-2 Caesar salad that was average My husband had the Black and blue salad but had to send it back as it was not cooked as he requested I will say the the service was very good

Ruth’s but not Chris

By Ricchio |

Personally i did not like the ambience , very sad to me , in the basement of an hotel low lights low colors. The quality of the meet was good but when the cost is so high everything has to be outstanding. Personnel is kind and professional, decent and not very expensive wine list.

Lunch by the River Walk

By El Traveloso (Bob the Traveling Bear) |

This venerable favorite serves delicious food in the middle to upper end of the dollar range that never disappoints. I had a nice burger, some delicious lobster bisque and a wonderful view of the River Walk for under $40. I'm calling that a win.

Excellent Service and Food

By JimBobKyle |

As usual the steak was excellent. I also had a salad and mushrooms that were top notch. Kelly, our waitress, was very attentive and helpful. She helped make it an enjoyable experience.

Brutal customer service offered by the hostess.

By whileitravel |

I ate here solo once and had a very pleasant experience. I arrived early so the entire place was virtually empty at 6:00 needless to say service was great. I ordered the 8 ounce filet mignon along with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. My steak arrived and it was perfectly done. My side was creamy spinach which was delicious. The ambiance of the place is excellent. I tried returning a second time here on New Year's Eve, but was told that I could not be seated since I had no reservations. The place was completely empty. I believe the time was 5:00 p.m. I was astonished. I couldn't sit down at the bar and have a nice steak dinner here. I was really disappointed. Fortunately I was able to call Morton's steakhouse and get a table there without having made any reservations. Won't ever return here.

SO DISAPPOINTED

By gary j |

I took my wife to this place for her birthday. It was supposed to be special but there was no fanfare and we had to wait for a table that I reserved 3 weeks before. But the most disappointing part was the steak. To spend over $300 for 2 and have a crap steak is just unsatisfying. The appetizers and service were great. I just wanted this experience to be perfect and because it wasn't, Im certainly not going to get my wife to sign off on another visit

Vacation

Went to Ruth Chris for my birthday, the food was excellent and our waiter was top notch. I would highly recommend this place

Wasn't what I expected

By Anichols39 |

We visited here on Veterens Day . I was expecting it to be the best meal on this trip since it was the most expensive. I was wrong . We ordered steak and lobster Mac and cheese . The Mac and cheese was great . My steak at Salt Grass was much better and over half the price . Our waitress was amazing and knew the menu. She was very helpful . I must say this was a first and last trip for me just because it's very expensive and better at other places .

Memorial Day Weekend Vacation

By plambecksride |

We did not have a resv. but got seated immediately. It was very hot that day, but seating on the patio was cooled by a/c from the open doors. Drinks were excellent, and steaks were delicious. We are pretty picky being from NE., but our fillets were cooked to perfection. Had a tomato mozzarella salad and mashed potatoes to share. All delicious.

Excellent steaks!

By 2015Lil |

Enjoyed a lovely meal here as a couple while staying in the Riverwalk area. All the food was excellent including the steaks. Professional service although there were some attempts to up-sell more expensive items on the menu although in a friendly way! Overall would recommend for a special meal.

Great steak but that's it

By boobot1 |

We love steak and we expected a five-star experience based on what we've heard. Front staff are unfriendly and seemed not to enjoy their job. Our waiter was excellent. The filet mignon was an excellent cut and cooked to perfection. The other side dishes fell short period the salad was drenched in dressing. The soup was watery. The brussel sprouts were drenched in Grease. It felt more like an olive garden. It lacked sophistication. The food was not cheap either. I think we'll go to another Steakhouse next time.

Steaks all around

By RickJodi |

Had dinner with friends at Ruth,s Chris. We sat outside on a very warm evening and looked at a menu for steak lovers. First we had to have the chilled sea food tower. There was lobster, crab meat, jumbo shrimp and king crab legs.Down to business. We had the 8oz. petite filet. Rib eye 16oz. split between two and the 16oz. newyork strip.Sides were roasted brussels and grilled asparagus. I had french fries and a loaded bake potato . A large caesar salad was our greens. The steaks were perfect, all cooked just right. The newyork was the best i ever had. Topped off the evening with creme brulee and cheese cake. Well Done Ruth,s Chris.

Thanksgiving Treat

By Wandering Lovebirds |

Ruth’s Chris San Antonio delivered the kind of evening that reminds you why this place has a reputation for excellence. We started with a Pomegranate Martini and a Smoked Old Fashioned—both mixed perfectly and a fantastic kickoff to dinner. For mains, we went with the 6 oz steak (medium rare) paired with lobster, and the 8 oz (also MR) with shrimp stuffed with crab. The steaks had that signature crispy crust and buttery tenderness, and the seafood was juicy and rich—honestly, every bite felt indulgent. Family-style sides rounded things out beautifully: the au gratin potatoes and the lobster mac & cheese were creamy, decadent, and impossible to stop eating. From start to finish, an exceptional meal. Highly recommend for a special night out in San Antonio.

Outstanding Food and Service

By Nina B |

I was at Ruth's Chris last week for a large conference. My party arrived at 9:30 pm and had no problem being seated. Our server, Jarvis, was fabulous - extremely professional, knowledgeable, and very patient with us as we were in the restaurant until very late. The food was delicious and the ambiance very nice. Would definitely recommend.

Outstanding meal

My group of 8 ladies had a fabulous meal at this location last week. Everything about it was outstanding... especially the service by Austin, Luis and Clarissa. Can't thank you enough.

Fantastic

By ccylin |

We ate here twice during a conference. There is seating in a main dining room, bar area or outside. The wait staff is amazing. Very attentive and fast. I had the burger which was so good. A lot of food. The price is higher but on par for a hotel restaurant. I would highly recommend eating here.

HORRIBLE Customer Service

By Richardandlaurie |

We called and explained that my husband had a gift card that he received 3 months ago. We live an hour and a half away from a Ruth Chris. We were in San Antonio for the morning and were on the Riverwalk. It was 3:20 pm (the restaurant was open) and we called to get two steaks to go so we could use our $100 gift card. We were immediately told “No” by the person that answered the phone. They were not willing to take a to go order at 3:20 in the afternoon. We spoke with the a**hat of a female manager who told me that it was “Impossible” for her to accommodate TWO to go steaks. What crappy service! I see why this restaurant has such poor reviews. Corporate needs to come down here and offer a customer service class. By the way, we called the other Ruth Chris (a few miles away) and ordered 3 11 oz filets to go (we got an extra steak sice they were so nice). Despite not even being open yet, they took the order and had the food ready when we arrived at 4 pm. In summary, the customer service at this location SUCKS and one of your servers missed out on a $35 tip for a few to go steaks! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! REVIEWS ARE SPOT ON!

Pedestrian Steaks, good service

By scottyh77 |

When I was a kid and my father took us to Ruth Chris it was ALWAYS SPECTACULAR. These days the only thing that is consistent is the inconsistencies. My friends NY Strip was perfect and mine had grizzle running through the meat, the potatoes au gratin were hard, and the creamed spinach and wedge salad were perfect! If you look at the steak you can see by the shape of the back of the steak furthest away that there is grizzle running through. this was an expensive meal not to be great with a field that is crowded with world class steakhouses. Never again!!!!

Terrible Service and Food

By chuckebuck |

If you want to spend 2 hours dining this is place to go . Service was slow and sporadic. The restaurant appeared to be under staffed. Finally the waiter said they were expecting fewer people. Unbelievable since a large convention wss in town. in any event meal was far from ehat usually get at Ruth Chris.

Food and service were wonderful

Decided to dine at the San Antonio Riverwalk Ruth’s Chris restaurant for dinner with my wife. Michael’s Service was excellent and the steaks were delicious and prepared perfectly. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Best Meal in Months

By johngillian311c |

Having eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner here, I have always enjoyed the quality of food. Tonight, several in my party, including myself, ordered the Cowboy Ribeye. I added the Oscar topping to my perfectly prepared, medium-rare steak. The Brussels Spouts were a tasty side for me. The margaritas on the rocks are, in my opinion, the best on the Riverwalk. My wedge salad was amazing. Our party of 6 enjoyed great service in the beautiful private dining room by Michael and other staff members. Yes, this is a pricey dinner compared to my normal haunts, but there is no place remotely (300+ miles) close to my home where such an elegant restaurant serves exceptional quality food. If you self-park in the Grand Hyatt parking garage, Ruth’s Chris will validate your parking for up to 4 hours. This saved me $27 when leaving after a post dinner concert in the adjacent Lila Cockrell Theater. What a wonderful evening with friends and a concert!

Not fair - we had no steak

By HurricaneFinley |

We knew we needed a bite to eat as we would be skipping dinner and keeping good time was essential in order to get on a plane. Off-hours and the staff was a little absent. We ordered the Lobster Bisque and a Caesar Salad to split. Both were average without any signatory flavors. Best thing: now I know why it has such a convoluted name--a smart woman named Ruth bought an existing steakhouse named "Chris' Steakhouse" and rebranded it with her name in front back in the early 60's. If it was a movie, it would star Joan Crawford. Ruth started a company when women couldn't even get a credit card. Good for her!

terrific burger

By Peter A |

You can NEVER go wrong at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. I had breakfast lunch and dinner and all were great. really great burger and short rib ravioli. breakfast buffet was just enough.

Great service and food is nice

By Liz Bobeck |

I was there for a convention. I had a burger and you expect the burger at Ruth's Chris to be amazing. I asked for mine to be prepared Medium, and it came out well done. The manager was awesome, took it off the bill, asked if I wanted a different one. Since I was in a hurry, we ate this one. The manager did what needed to happen. Its great to see that level of service. Everyone else loved the meals, and if I had not had that issue with my meal, worthy of 5 stars. Great bar area as well as outside area.

Came for a solo dinner at the bar and came away perfectly pleased. No, I wasn't expecting cheap, but I was expecting quality. Both happened just as expected. Fortunately, I was there at happy hour so it shaved some of the extortionary costs. Started off with their Happy hour Raspberry Cosmo. The first one was excellent. Then a backup bartender came up while he was busy and it was a miss. Make sure the real deal makes it! I had a house salad that was very fresh but wasn't anything novel. This was followed up by the appetizer version of the crab cakes and things went to a new level. Two of the best whole lump crab cakes that I haven't seen since the Chesapeake Bay. The were tremendously tasty. Those two made the perfect semi-healthy meal.

Oysters Rockefeller!

By SandyBeachesAhoy |

I don't think anybody questions the steak here, so I'm going to focus on oysters Rockefeller and the stuffed mushrooms! WOW! Do yourself a favor already and just order them, heck order 2 servings of each and call it a day! You can thank me later!

Great breakfast buffet

Did not know Ruth’s Chris served breakfast. Orange juice was fresh squeezed and fruit on the bar was excellent. Everything was very good

I love Ruth Chris steakhouse however this was my first trip to this one. We had a business dinner and I had been looking forward to our trip. The ambience was fantastic, the straight drinks were great however the mixed drinks tasted diluted to much. My ribeye steak had great flavor but too tough for the money spent on it as there was two parts in which had grizzle. They didn’t have enough butter on the table and brought no extras even after taking the empties. The GM even stopped by however in a business dinner that I did not pay for I wouldn’t complain. Do not get me wrong Ruth Chris steakhouse is a fantastic steakhouse with excellent food! Mine however was just sub par on this particular trip.

Who knew RCs served breakfast?!!!

Great Food - Phenomenal Service

As always, the food and service at Ruth Chris at 600 E. Market St. in San Antonio was excellent. My server Jarvis and his co-worker Caesar, were very attentive, polite and took great care of me! I would recommend this Ruth’s location highly when you want a great meal in a great environment.

Exquisite fine dining worthy of the designation

We really enjoyed this restaurant. On The 1st day of our Riverwalk stay we tried the Ruth’s Chris happy hour cocktails and Voodoo Shrimp in the bar. The service the drinks, and the food were all fantastic. so fantastic that on day 2 we decided to come back for dinner. I had the 16oz ribeye with scalloped potatoes, and my wife had a Caesar Salad with the shrimp appetizer. The steak was juicy and tender and the taste was buttery and mouth watering my wife’s salad was “the best I have ever had”, the shrimp were fantastic, and the scalloped potatoes were exquisite. Raquel served us and was super attentive, but non obtrusive. She seemed to show up exactly when we needed her and only when we needed her. We were also taken care of by other wait staff for water refills, drink refills, etc. we had a leisurely meal, true fine dining, and we were very impressed. A truly great restaurant!!

Nice lunch but expensive

By cdab |

Recently popped in for a quick business lunch meeting. The restaurant was quite busy but we were soon seated albeit on one of those high tables with bar stools. Service was good as was the food. But it is relatively expensive. I enjoyed it, but I have had better lunches in San Antonio,

Perfect

I am not really a fan of steak houses because I cannot eat so much meat and think that they are overpriced but the lunch I had here with some business colleagues was perfect. For $31 each we had a filet topped with a few jumbo shrimp and a choice of side and starter. I had the seafood gumbo and garlic mashed potatoes but there were several soups and salads to start and creamed spinach as a side. Everything was delicious and the quality and value were perfect.

Disappointing

Pork chops ordered did not have peppers as listed. When asked about the peppers server stated the kitchen said they were out.( Chef should have informed the server to let us know before to either make another selections or refuse). Offered bread but never receiced. Tea never refilled. After a month no one from the restaurant ever reached out. We just wanted to inform them of the serice. Reached out online and someone from marketing called as if they were concerned and stated we will receive and email that has been since January 30, 203 and CRICKETS!!!

Superb Steak & Lobster with Free Parking

By AdNorm |

We celebrated our anniversary here. Park at the Grand Hyatt and the restaurant will validate your parking ticket for four hours. So a walk on the San Antonio River Walk after dinner is appropriate. We both had the steak & lobster special. Both delicious. Medium well was more like medium to me. The Lobster bisque was just okay. Dinner bread was very good. Too stuffed to try dessert, sorry. Service was great. Jared did a superb job. Restaurant provided a free celebratory photo, but the camera was an old digital type. They definitely need to upgrade their camera.

Sub par experience for a Ruth Chris Steakhouse

By Tom S |

I was in San Antonio for a conference. I have been to Ruth Chris Restaurants in NYC, Philly, Greensboro, Charleston. Ruth Chris is known for impeccable service and incredible food. I went to the one in San Antonio twice. The service was “fine” one visit and abysmal during the other visit. Food was good, but nothing like I’ve experienced in every other Ruth Chris I’ve eaten at. I choose to go to Ruth Chris because it’s a given that the service and food will be top notch - hence the prices. Ruth Chris should take their name off this franchise. It does not live up to the expectations of the clientele that regularly visit this restaurant in other locations.

Amazing Thanksgiving Dinner

As always the dinner and service was awesome. Although there was an delicious thanksgiving feast offer I had to go with my fav....filet and shrimp. An unbeatable combination!!!

Birthday Dinner with Family

We made reservations at Ruth Chris , and it was at a different one, but we went here. And so glad we did. They put us in asap. The service from the hostess to our server was amazing. The food and drinks were great. I'm so glad we decided to take my husband here for his 60th birthday. The staff was great. Everything was perfect.
