My wife and I stopped in a week or so after opening, it was busy but they were able to accommodate us within 15/20mins. Food was fantastic. Great remodeling of the space, years ago was the original location for The Jazz Showcase.

Surprisingly mobbed on a mid-week evening, so we sat at the bar - with a fascinating view of the bustling kitchen. Excellent menu and tremendous food. We had one of the sushi/sashimi packages and the sticky crab rice, which was phenomenal - practically salivating recalling it. Every dish was delicious. Noisy environment simply because it's so busy, but didn't need too much conversation as there was so much action to watch!

I don’t eat sushi or fish but love the Beef and Bop and the chicken nuggets. Also, very good soup and salad.

I had the tempura and the maki-san sets. The service and food were really good especially the Crunchy Avocado. The only downfall is that there is not a seating area for when you are waiting to be seated. Ordering drinks while waiting is a bit awkward as you are ordering over people’s shoulders who are eating at the bar area. I would still recommend!

Fantastic dining experience at this cool, buzzing restaurant- it was so good I went there twice in a week! The sushi was fresh and high quality and the ‘non-sushi’ plates were simply delicious! The japanese pancakes lived up to the hype as well!

We love sushi and this new offering in the Lettuce Entertain You realm was great. We were seated close to the kitchen area and noted that at the time of our meal, there wasn't a single Japanese cook back there so we were wondering a bit about how authentic our sushi would be but we didn't need to worry. It was terrific and as good as our favorite sushi place in the suburbs with an all Japanese staff. We ordered edamame and requested that it come simply steamed and lightly salted and it came to our table exactly as ordered. My husband ordered the special Spicy Salmon Maki and loved it. I had the Spicy Tuna Maki. Just the right level of spiciness. The maki rolls are generous with ten pieces each so we were stuffed by the time we finished. Sushi-San is the very first place I've been anywhere that uses a Poo emoji to indicate the restrooms. Will that be the new universal sign? Too funny!

Wow!!! This place is fabulous. It can be found right behind the Hyatt Place, North River Indoor and outdoor dining. The menu is wonderful with the freshest seafood available. Wait staff are knowledgeable and make excellent suggestions Our food was delicious and I am marking this place 100% return when in Chicago. You will not be disappointed

I got this via delivery last night, and the reviews as well as the website looked great. The fish was bland in taste, and many of the rolls run into the same problem of below average sushi places which is that the proportion of rice to fish/vegetables was poor, with too much rice. The seaweed salad was bland, although it was decent in texture, and it looked more natural as far as seaweed goes. The next day both my wife and I had an upset stomach, which we never get when we eat at other sushi places...a bad sign. Especially for the price paid, there are far better options in Chicago.

This is one of the best sushi restaurants I have dined in. The fish is so fresh it melts in your mouth. The rolls are amazing and the presentation of food is wonderful. Good choices in drinks and fun desserts! The atmosphere is lively and fun. Don't miss it....best to make a reservation.

I love Sushi-San always. It’s a fun, accessible way to eat sushi in a laid back environment always bumping 90s hip-hop. It’s a cool spot. I often go in for lunch as they have a great bento box deal. It’s so much food that I usually save the rice dish and eat it for lunch! Last night I enjoyed the Omakase, renamed Oma-Kaze as a play on the talented Chef Kazes surname. It was mind-blowing. It reminded me of being back in Tokyo. Chef Kaze is a sushi master. If you’ve had a chance to enjoy his sushi skills at Marai or Momotaro or elsewhere you know what I’m talking about. Every bite is so thoughtfully prepared with the highest quality ingredients. Not only was the personal service and interaction with Chef Kaze exceptional, but the food was outstanding and it felt like we got a great deal. For $100 I left stuffed and oh so happy. I also like that even though we had a 2 hour seating, the pace of the meal didn’t feel rushed. Book the Oma-Kaze now, you won’t regret it!

Nice little cozy place for sushi lunch. Fish is pretty fresh and their lunch special offers many choices and combinations. Price point is pretty good for what you get. They only give a little wasabi on the plate so if you love wasabi be sure to ask for more. Salad was fresh with dressing being flavorful and not too citrusy. The Japanese curry was ok but needed more veggies as it was made up of mostly potatoes. Miso soup had plenty of seaweed but was a tad on the salty side.

My son took us here while we were visiting Chicago, Armani was our server and he was very good at explaining the menu to us, as I am not really a Chinese or Japanese food eater. We tried several different dishes from the kimchi pickles, tako taco (octopus meat tacos), coal roasted lobster all apps, then we had the spicy tuna and spicy salmon sushi and the maki cucumber sushi and finished off with the beef and bop and the king crab tobanjan masago, everything was delicious except for the tako taco I did not like the texture of the octopus while eating it, felt like I was eating the octopus suction cups it was very chewy. The place place 80’s music the entire time and the drinks come with rappers pictures frozen into the ice cubes something makes the a memorable place. The plates aren’t very big for what you pay for them but it was worth trying once if you like that kind of food. My one criticism would be the bathroom there are only 2 and they are both unisex so the line is very long all the time, plus kinda gross have men and woman’s use the same bathroom as we both use them differently. A once is enough experience for me

We dined at Sushi San for the first time and were pleased with our experience. We were seated promptly and offered a table with more room for a stroller. Our waitress, Kathryn was excellent! The Cilantro Lime Margarita is delicious. We tried The Edamame, Crazy Shrimp, Tuna Avocado, Kabayaki Eel and Tempura Shrimp. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. We also had the roasted cauliflower which was very hard. Music could be turned down a notch to make it easier to talk.

I strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for sushi. The menu has great selections and the food comes out quick with high quality. The service is great and the ambiance has a contemporary city feel.

I ordered take away and had spicy tuna with seaweed salad. The seaweed salad was different from prior seaweed salads I have tried, which is not a bad thing, however I found the garlic to be overwhelming to the point that I could not finish it. The spicy tuna sushi was fab and definitely spicy, it did not need the accompanying sauces and after tasting one, chose to eat the sushi without. The flavors were so fresh and crisp.

Legit the best sushi I’ve ever had and I’m from Miami. You don’t need any sauces, just eat their maki or nigiri or sashimi plain and you are in for a treat in your mouth. Cool vibe, great music and fast service. I can’t wait to go back here.

We didn't have reservation and the place was packed! The atmosphere was very nice with a lot of young people and music. We were sat immediately. We asked for some recommendations and the waiter offered some and they were all delicious. The sushi is super fresh and the box with several layers we ordered was great. Really recommend this place for sushi.

Sushi was really good and had a perfect amount of rice in it. Get the Tempura Shrimp rolls and the Crunchy Avocado rolls, they were really good and tasty.

I love this place. It has a nice atmosphere and the food is of excellent quality. During the pandemic they also ask the guests to wear a mask when talking to the personnel, which is exactly the way it should be. This makes me feel safe when eating indoors. Their ice cream is also quite unique. Don’t miss the cinnamon one to finish a perfect dinner.

Dark place, to see the menu I had to put the phone flashlight, definitely fashionable and full of guys. All the dishes we took were really tasty, very spicy but good. The girl who served us was helpful and kind and above all patient. High prices needless to say. We took 5 plates for a total of 27 pieces, a beer and a lemonade at a cost of about 110€ plus the tip clearly

We thoroughly enjoyed every dish we ordered on a Saturday night. The Tako Tacos were sublime. Excellent salmon nigiri, fatty tuna rolls, and my favorite...the ginger salmon maki. One of our party ordered the megatron and raved about it. It was cleverly presented in stacked boxes. However, I can't give this place more than 3-stars. The high top tables and communal tables just aren't conducive to a 4-star meal. I get they want the hip Chicago crowd but I don't need to hear my neighbor's conversation and I am sure they weren't interested in mine. (And the little hook under the table doesn't hold anyone's coat.)The decor works for the other LUEY rstaurant, Ramen-san but I don't think it works here.

We went to SUSHI-SAN the last night of our trip and I am so happy we did not miss out on this place. The food was amazing. I love sushi and this was some of the best I have ever had. The restaurant ambiance was really cool. They had soft house music playing making it more upbeat and fun. It would be a great place to go for dinner before a night out. Our waiter, Johnny, was awesome and had great recommendations. He was very accommodating and kind. If I am ever in Chicago again, I will definitely be going back.

Second time in this restaurant. It didn't go as well as the first one, All spicy, even the edamame. They never asked me if I wanted another drink and you still had to raise your arms to get noticed by the waiters. The dishes we chose were not up to the cost or taste they had to have. I don't think there will be a third time. Very expensive, very exaggerated.

OPP for sure. How amazing of a spot. Spinning hip hop all night with A+ Sushi is an amazing experience esp with amazing company. Def take it serious. Be ready to party. Staff is great. Super fun place. Couldn’t recommend this any higher. Do it. What are you waiting for?

We spontaneously visit major cities across this country. Without really having any plans, it is hard to make reservations. We originally wanted to make reservations for a traditional omakase, but we were out of luck. Trying out and searching for various restaurants, we landed on Sushi San. Their omakase was fully booked, so we decided to dine in their restaurant. The interior was very tastefully designed. Perfect lighting. Great setting. Our service was absolutely fantastic. All of our nigiri was extremely fresh. We were saddened to hear that they were out of uni, but we just ordered more Toro and Amberjack instead. Everything was very fresh and the sushi was properly handled. They utilized real wasabi in the plating, and everything was seasoned perfectly to pair with each fish. Beyond the flavors and freshness of their sushi, were their beautiful deserts. We ordered the charcoal chocolate and the black sesame cheesecake. We would come to this restaurant solely for their amazing cheesecake. It was light and refreshing and had a fantastic sesame essence. Everything about our experience at Sushi San was exquisite. Outstanding service, environment, and food. すごい

The sushi and the atmosphere are top notch. I definitely recommend going here. I will go back again. Their specialty rolls are very good.

This restaurant I visited because I saw a lot of people eating at this place while I went to a nearby by restaurant, so I made a mental note to check it out. What a treat this place is. Decor is simple Japanese, a bit industrial, waiters are young and friendly and they make good recommendations and explanations. For starters, we had the Aburi, one order of Spicy Tuna and one of Wagyu Tartare, both every good and you should try them. The highlight was the Charred Cauliflower, absolutely delicious, and the Shishito Peppers were very solid as well. On the main courses I highly recommend to Beef N Bop and the Vietnamese Pork, amazingly good. You should ask for these two dishes, it is worth the visit to this place. I did not try the Nigiris so, I am not able to have an opinion but my son tried them and he said there were very good.

The original place, Sushi-San on Grand is spectacular. Made for the young, this sushi place is awesome. Fresh seafood, excellent dishes and great sake. Many special relationship make the offerings top-notch. Staff is crack too! Try the Hokkaido scallop nigiri with lemon zest - phenomenal!! Enjoy!

Best sushi place in town. I drive more than an hour to get here. We love love love Daniel the manager. He is the secret sauce of this restaurant! Amazing person and manager! If I ever owned a restaurant I would hire him as manager or a partner!

This place is pretty loose and relax. An ideal place for young people having a nice dinner. The dishes and beverages are prepare with quality ingredients. I look forward to try more dishes from the menu. I ask for the nigiri sample and it was great

So it was recommended that I sit at the bar for the Sushi Tasting Menu, which I thought was going to be typical. It was anything but! I was unprepared for the event that was to unfold. Sounds dramatic, but really.....this was a real shock. Eaten at Nobu many times and other great named Sushi restaurants, but never did I eat anything like what was prepared for the Tasting Menu. I know this is not served on the regular menu, so I am advising you to sign up for the Omakaze Tasting Menu - it may look like your typical sashimi roll, but you will taste fish that has never been served to you. Even the wasabi was scraped in front of us from a root sent from Japan. This is the real deal......who knew the stomach of tuna tasted this good!!!

I was in Chicago visiting my friend and we went to her favorites sushi spot in the city. They have a bento box style lunch option where you can do sushi for $22 or tuna or octopus mini tacos for $16. We both ordered the $16 option and while that is cheap for sushi, you get a ton of food!! Miso soup, salad, rice with salmon, and 3 octopus/avocado/Japanese seasoning tacos. Plus, we split edamame, which was delicious! For dessert, I had green tea mochi and my friend got black sesame/chocolate ice cream that had marshmallow and chocolate in the cone. Everything about this meal was delicious and our server was very nice. I definitely will go back when I visit Chicago again!

Everything was fresh. Waitresses were all smiling and attentive. Sushi, sashimi, nigiri - all good quality. Appetizers also were scrumptious. Good Japanese cold beers to boot. All in all , we had a great lunch and would love to go there again.

Some of the food was delicious, but some was just okay. I think the wooden benches are very uncomfortable. The miso soup was basic, nothing special about it. Shishito peppers and edamame were good, but also nothing special. The special crunchy rice rolls with spicy tuna and scallops was the best thing we had. I could have had more of those. The sizzling rice with lobster & kimchi was interesting. We liked the burnt rice but it was too salty and the lobster was rubbery because it was overcooked. The shrimp motoyaki sizzling rice had the same problem, rubbery overcooked shrimp. The strangest thing was while we were eating our dessert, without prompting, our coats were brought to our table. Apparently we had reached our two hour dining limit and it was time for us to leave. Service was good, but I don't think we'll return.

I was in Chicago for business and wanted to find some good sushi near my hotel. This restaurant did not disappoint. The cocktail was delicious (if a bit weird for being served in a take-out box), and my sushi rolls were really tasty. I would definitely give this restaurant another try and expand my experiences with the menu.

Very friendly staff and tasty food. I would prefer a better “shape” in the hand rolls !! It mostly looks as a bar with sushi, rather than a sushi bar. Fair prices !!!

Delicious flavorful food. Many choices, everything we had, and we tried many, were terrific. We loved the variety and incredible balanced flavors. Try it all. Very good, friendly, efficient service. Reasonable prices for Chicago.

This has become one of my favorite spots in Chicago. Fun vibe with old hip hop music playing & the servers are very laid back and friendly. All the food I've tried here has been amazing. My favorite being the steak with the sweet soy sauce.. I could drink that sauce it's so good. Even when busy I can usually find a seat at the bar within 15 minutes or so.

I wish I had taken some pictures, because the sushi was not only delicious , but it was also beautiful!! All was fresh, too. Tuna was melt in your mouth, and the salmon and yellowtail, best I have ever had. It was a tad pricey, but well worth it. In fact, my husband wanted to go again the next night, and that NEVER happens if it's expensive.

I wish the food was better. Our server was friendly and the atmosphere was so cool.i Cody steely the expensive Megatron was a disappointment. The top sashimi tray was great but the other 2 were inedible and so fishy. We left more than half and the server saw it and never asked how things were. We eat sushi regularly and it was expensive and disappointing. The beef, which was $30 for 6 small pieces was absolutely amazing but as a whole, it was average at best, and over-priced.

We loved the sushi and lettuce wraps. The flavors were amazing, and the service was fast and friendly. My favorite roll was the avocado, but the mushroom, salmon, and shrimp rolls were great too.

The food was great! Loved the fact that everything is fresh! HOWEVER the service SUCKED!!!! Both the host and server had an attitude as if their job was being demanded and it was as if they really didn’t want to be there. Either that or they didn’t really want to serve my friend and I. Also so many of the dish-wares were dirty when brought to the table. The glasses, the soy sauce cups, the water carafe. The experience definitely took away from the quality of the food and the ambiance and class of the restaurant. The hot sake was served in a drinking glass not a carafe ( even if it’s happy hour) sake’s should be served in ceramic carafe.

I ordered the Thai basil chicken rice and it was awful and disappointing. First of all the portion was extremely small for the price. Basically about four spoonfuls of rice and some GROUND chicken. Ground chicken? It was so gross and flavorless. I do not recommend and am very disappointed.

The wife and I went a couple of weeks ago. Very cool vibe inside, great sushi, try the edamame, they prepare in a tasty way. The lobster appetizer is amazing. Be warned, tables are very close together, if you are looking for privacy and quite, this is not the place.

Good taste, overpriced, very loud music. Should include sides with the entree’s. Delicious food, very small size portions.

Me and my sister live this place. Love the food and the atmosphere. Being Greek we love seafood. Today we had the honor to be served by their manager Daniel. What an extraordinary service. We are goodies and this os the best service we have ever had- granted he is the manager but still. The food as always amazing and the drinks amazing! A must visit place!

I stopped in here with a co-worker. I was in the mood for sushi and this is more budget friendly than Sunda. Quality reflects that. It is good sushi.... not great. They do make a nice house soy sauce. That was unique and something I enjoyed. The rolls were bigger than I expected. The place wasn't super crowded, but things seemed to move a little slower than I would have hoped for a place geared more to the lunch crowd. All things considered it was a good lunch and I would go back.

Actually, this is the first sushi restaurant I've tried in Chicago, so I cannot tell you whether is the best or not. But i can guarantee that it's my favorite so far among the ones I've been. Even this list is not too long. I like this place for the atmosphere (dark, low light), open kitchen, small menu, comic theme and, obviously, the food. The edamame are just delicious, good appetizer. Then I would suggest 15 pcs of sushi are enough so you can have at least two moji, without feeling too full. Moji are terrific, although 2 were still too cold. Price is fair

First visit, but definitely not the last. Trendy atmosphere with kewl music and vibe. Entire staff is friendly work together to create a memorable experience. Venue is excellent for friends, couples, business, and families. Recommend sharing dishes so you can taste a variety. We sampled from Nigiri Bombs, Greens, Maki-San, Sizziling Rice, Charcoal Grilled, and Nigiri sections of the menu. Highly recommend; Tako taco, bbq beef lettuce wraps (melt in your mouth tender and extremely flavorful), spicy yellowtail, Vietnamese pork, Japanese snapper, Kimchi pickles, Tokyo Char Dog, and yuzu asparagus. We also tried the roasted king crab that frankly lacked interest. Wait staff is attentive and appropriately on hand. Water glass was never empty. Even replaced our plates and dipping sauces without asking.

I’ve been to several previous Chef Kaze restaurants and they’re always great so why don’t I go more frequently? It’s a bit of a mystery, but this one has so many choices I’m sure I’ll be back soon. The Eggplant tempura was a great starter, the Salmon and Thai Pork dishes were super tasty and the waitress recommended Spicy Scallop was for once very good. The Japanese Barley Style Tea was a very happy find. A lot of traffic passed our table and it was noisy but not insufferably so. Not too pricey.

I surprised my wife for the Oma-Kaze (with Chef Kaze himself) last week and it was absolutely incredible! Chef Kaze has 6 seats open every evening at exactly 7pm for an omakase dinner. He picks everything himself and while 14-17 pieces doesn't sound much, it was enough for us (very generous pieces). The omakaze dinner requires online registration and prepayment ($88 per person) - and it was well worth it! We've been to many omakase meals in Chicago and other cities in the world, and this has definitely been one of the best ones we've been to. Chef Kaze was awesome and very friendly, which made the atmosphere a lot more comfortable. Highly recommended!

We go here once a week. This is by far the best sushi restaurant in Chicago. I can’t complain about anything. I would give 16284728 stars if I could. Lol But honestly, the food is amazing. Service is great when dining in. Our one and only complaint is the takeout service. They use DoorDash. And DoorDash lies. It’ll say 20/30 minutes when placing the order, but when we show up after 30 minutes, we will wait an additional 20ish minutes. The quality of the food makes it worth it.

Came here for dinner last night do not have pics though of meal. Came again for lunch. Excellent food and service both times. Prices typical of Chicago. Express lunch deal with ikura and last night had the tuna avocado roll as well as eel and avocado. Both excellent - I would come again and recommend this place for a sushi meal if you are staying downtown!

Great, attentive servers who take time to explain the menu. Delicious food! Excellent customer service. Very welcoming to international guests. You’ll definitely enjoy!

Very overpriced for what you get and it’s nothing fancy either. It was like $10 per a 5 piece roll and $20 for a 10 piece when any good sushi place is around $12 for a 10 piece. It barely served two and we payed $40 total and were still hungry so better go somewhere else. service was fine

I had a craving for sushi and this restaurant delivered! Our waitress was even helpful when she saw how much I was struggling with my chopsticks.

I came here with a friend and we shared the steak, tempura, and a variety of rolls. I was not disappointed and the spicy level was surprisingly medium. Dark lit place and very casual.

This was just a fun place to have dinner. Staff is outfitted in cool "Sushi" sweatshirts; my daughter and I both bought ones as souvenirs! We were seated pretty quickly after arriving with a reservation. The sushi is really good with some that I have never experienced before. Good apps too! I would come back again for sure.

Dinner for 3 on a Saturday. Buzzing, night-clubbish vibe with bass-heavy background music. We really liked it. Started with edamame and Hamachi Ponzu. Both were excellent. The edamame is apparently steamed then roasted and seasoned - very unusual and very tasty! Then on to a couple of rolls and the premium chefs choice nigiri. Everything was really delicious with the possible exception of the mackerel, which was more than customarily fishy. Very good service from Nikki. Would definitely go back.

Hip Hop Music but amazing food and outstanding service mega tron box- awesome- freshest sushi since I was in Japan last month- melt in your mouth tuna salmon and other offerings The staff is fantastic and will support your every food and drink wish Little loud for serious conversations but food cannot be beat!

On a December weekday night at 7pm, Sushi-san was packed and loud with patrons enjoying themselves. It's big, with bar seating, booths and long tables for big groups. Also somewhat dimly lit. We were greeted cordially by the hostesses but told we'd have to wait until a few tables cleared before they could seat us (we had a 7 pm reservation). It was worth the wait, though. We were shown to a good-size table in a corner by the windows. Menus are accessed by a QR code on your phone (with pictures of the dishes) but they have paper menus if you ask. There were a lot of items that sounded delicious, so it was hard to choose. After some thought and consultation with our helpful waiter, we ordered a mix of things to sample the menu: tempura eggplant, coal roasted 1/2 lobster (a bit skimpy for $38!), nigiri sushi and tempura shrimp maki. The food started coming soon after we ordered. In fact after some a la carte sushi, everything else came at once, so the hot foods cooled a bit too much before we could consume them. Everything was attractively plated and well-prepared: the raw fish was pristine; the tempura was crisp and not a bit greasy. I was surprised at the level of heat in several dishes; the kitchen uses hot Japanese spice powder and jalapeño with a liberal hand. We did not have room for dessert. Dinner for 2 with one drink each, with tax but before tip came to about $140 (the lobster was a pricy dish). We left satisfied and will go again to sample other dishes on the menu.

I live near this restaurant and I'm looking forward to going back. The fish was so tasty and fresh, I love their creative drinks. Absolutely get the tuna nigiri and umami scallop, SO good!! They sat us right away and there was a small problem with the table. The manager came over and was extremely attentive and gracious. He sat us right away somewhere else and comped us a drink each. Even the host was super apologetic for the small issue we had with the table. They definitely get customer service and it didn't go unnoticed.

I love this place. I’m not certain I would visit for Sushi, but man did I love the food. The togarashi chicken nuggets were phenomenal, and the Beef ‘n Bap sizzling rice plate was heavenly - crispy + tasty, as was the Vietnamese pork. Amazing hip hop playlists, fun vibe, great service and all for an exceptional value. What’s not to love! Don’t hesitate to eat here. We’re so happy we did and was one of our highlights during our visit to Chicago.

I love sushi and Sushi-San offers so many classic AND unique dishes. Mostly everything is a small plate and easy to share with others. The pricing is also fantastic, given the amazing quality of the food you are getting. My favorite dishes are umami scallop and vietnamese pork. SO good! I've been here twice now and can't wait to keep coming back.

The freshness and variety of Sushi here is plain outstanding. Not your typical tuna and California roll. The variety of tuna and salmon and the premium cuts as well, The Belly!! Excellent fatty pieces. Uni, how I love thee. The Chef is very skilled in the proper slicing and preparation that highlights the quality of the seafood and does it honor. The Aburi and Robata Beef is not to be missed either. Even in a city the size of Chicago this variety and quality is not too common. We were also treated to nice slices of Pacific Geoduck, This was a first anywhere for me. The staff here is very knowledgeable and very helpful in putting together a fine sampling. I came for the Sushi and was very pleased. SUBARASHII

I’m visiting from Houston and this restaurant is around the corner from my hotel. The minute I walked in I was greeted very warmly. The staff helped me select some of the tastiest items according to what I desired! I tried the Shishito peppers, Vietnamese pork & ginger salmon sushi. All that I can say is the flavors were outstanding! I finished w the caramel/cinnamon crunch ice cream cone. I had to come back the next day to try the charred cauliflower and the prime skirt steak... delish! It exceeded expectations! You want to be sure you try this restaurant when you’re in Chicago! Kudos to Bailey (mgr), Dan (mgr), Eli & Jack (servers)!!! Thanks for helping me enjoy a wonderful experience!!

Very popular restaurant. I got seated as a single after a business dinner cancellation. The sushi here is excellent. Very non-traditional approach to sushi. Everything was excellently prepared. Highly recommended!

This is a new sushi restaurant. The service was excellent. The food was yummy and very fresh. It would have been nice if they had more to offer on the menu.

I couldn't recommend more this restaurant, great atmosphere and great service! You must try the lobster, San's speciality, out of this world! The Nigiri is super nice too, try the deluxe set!

I tried a quite a few items since its s new spot. Started with the shrimp toast. Light crispy crunchy with layers of flavor. The kimchi pickles were warm sweet tangy with a little bit of crunch. Both of the dipping sauces for good matches as well. The thank you and enjoy cocktail was fun. Served in a Chinese takeout box was quite the surprise. The drink had a unique spin with a touch of curry. The Nigri sushi San-Set was light, fresh, and flavorful. Did I say fresh! The roasted King Crab Sizzling Rice was nice but not my favorite. The broth was nice, but the creamy sauce was too much/rich and interfered with my enjoyment of the crab. The Dry-Aged NY Strip was cooked perfectly. So very tender and tasty. Yum! The New School Tempura Shrimp roll had a nice flavor twist. Its a must try. As for the desserts.... the Emoji sorbet with the rice paste covering is a novelty to look at, but an acquired taste. The cheesecake w/ black sesame seed was light and creamy. I’d recommend giving it a try. The hip hop music made the atmosphere hip and vibrant for the afterwork diners or a casual (but not cheap) sushi & more meal out. I’ll be back. Loving the POO emoji that leads you to the bathrooms-lol

I''ll start out by saying that although a little bit more "American" sushi w/its flavor profile (versus more Traditional emphasizing the cuts of fish themselves), the food on its own was overall pretty enjoyable. It's the experience that takes this place down from four to three stars. My wife and I visited a few weeks ago, walking in the door just a few minutes before our 6:30pm reservation. Upon arriving, we were told they would not have a table ready for at least another 30 minutes. When we questioned that point, we were told that on weekends booths are reserved for tables of 3 or more. So, instead, we were offered side-by-side stool seating. Sensing our hesitation, the two hostesses put out a whole sales pitch of how it would be at the "chef's table" and how great it is watching/interacting w/the chefs as we enjoy our meal. Not wanting to be difficult nor wait that long, we bought in and went with it.... Apparently this place has a very loose concept of "chef's table" because we were not seated at the sushi counter in front of the chefs, we were not seated at stool seats that stare straight into the back kitchen (though w/a space in between where staff bus food/drinks from), but instead, we were seated on stools at an off angle from the back kitchen that are separated by the walkway to the bathrooms. So, maybe we misheard the hostesses and they meant that we would get to interact w/a constant flow of customers walking to/from the bathroom rather than the chefs. If so, that's on us. Adding insult to injury, there were two open booths behind us when we sat down that both got seated w/2 people, respectively, within 5-10 minutes of our being there. And then just to reaffirm the seats were not what the hostesses sold us on, we attempted to order something that we were told could not be served to us because it is only available at the chef's table. One of these things on its own, easily overlooked, but everything put together, simply feels like we were told a series of lies just for the sake of churning through less preferable seats. The most redeeming part of this evening was our server, Hutch. He was amazingly friendly and helpful w/his recommendations, literally buying this place an extra star on his own because he would deserve 5+ stars. Otherwise, my wife and I would not say no to a group of friends that wants to come here at some point, but we wouldn't come back on our own again - rather just stick w/Coast or Momotaro.

The dishes were genuinely great all round, but the rap music / interior noise was too much for me. Grateful to be seated outside. Have the cooked chicken nuggets for sure as well as the shrimp tempura. I will (!) go back. It is a neighborhood gem if you are a sushi fan. Their sauces are A+.

Very good all around. Great service on table and at the bar, helpful with recommendations for both food and drinks. The food is very good. A little loud, but all around a very good restaurant.

A hip restaurant with interesting selection of dishes. I would highly recommend both aburi choices - Unami scallop was delicate and delicious. We had 7 rolls (5 each so that we could try more of what’s offered - all were excellent).

Lunch w 3 family members. Prompt seating and service at beginning of service hours. By time we finished lunch only 1 long table was open. Roasted edamame was very tasty. Never had it roasted and w dry spices on it as prepared but enjoyed an updated version of edamame. Also had 3 rolls:spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, and blue fin and avocado. Enjoyed all rolls. Liked how you can order 5 piece and 10 piece serving sizes of rolls. Dessert included mochi (hibiscus and mandarin orange flavored)and an icecream cone w sesame. All desserts were flavorful. 1st time here. Would come back again w group that likes fresh fish and can handle a limited sushi roll menu. Not for those who only eat the typical dragon rolls or cream cheese rolls as we didn't see any of those types of rolls on menu. Special lunch menu options also available.

This a nice place to eat, food was very good, I was able to have food cook to my food allergy, I had Shrimp tempura Roll, Miso soup. Very friendly servers, food was very fresh.

We Stumbled upon this lovely gem on Easter Sunday around 10pm because everything else was closing or closed. Well, I’m so glad we went in! The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing!! Our server was so nice and made great suggestions. The only thing I’m not sure of is the dessert situation because we weren’t offered.

I love omakase and have had it at several places in the country. What an amazing experience to have a chef make dinner for you, and for 1.5 hours just focus on making sure you (and possibly a couple other people) are fed and happy. This is one of the best I’ve ever had, and chef Kaze is simply awesome. I’m a pretty big eater and was totally full after the omakase. It is only nigiri — not mixed with other types of food that stuff you up. The fish was very high quality, and each bite had great flavor. Several times during the meal I said “wow” after a bite. Service was very attentive. Overall everything was great from walking in to walking out.

Probably the best sushi I’ve ever had. I dined solo at the bar on a Saturday night and had a fantastic time. There were plenty of solo diners as well and everyone was super friendly. I ordered the yuzu yellowtail and spicy tuna rolls, which were perfection. The bartender also gave me and another patron sitting next to me samples of the crunchy fatty tuna and umami scallop hand rolls and they did not disappoint. If you want to have a fantastic sushi experience, run, do t walk, to Sushi-San!

Amazing place. Super fun atmosphere, we had a reservation there was a wait for people who didn’t. I recommend getting one aswell since this place seems very popular. The food was incredible, i recommend trying the rice (the beef bop or the chicken one are amazing choices) as well as the chicken nuggets. The service was great even with the place being full and busy. We were served in record speed. Will definitely be coming back here soon.

This is a sister restaurant of Ramen and has been around since Dec of last year. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the sushi lunch special. Service was great as was the sushi. The menu and preparation was creative. Pretty good value for the money. While I didn't sample them, I saw that they had an incredible selection of Japanese whiskeys - would make for a great happy hour place!

Went here with teenage kids and adults. The experience for all was amazing! The food was delicious and had one of a kind deserts. The pancakes were a favorite. Our servers were very knowledgeable about Sake and made some great recommendations! We will definitely be back when we visit again!!!

We came here for dinner. The place was very busy with a good atmosphere. As this is supposed to be a sushi restaurant we were quite disappointed by the sushi. We were hoping for a much better quality thus quite disappointed! We ended up paying a lot of money for a meal we didn’t enjoy.

Best sushi I ever had. Simply wonderful food. Beautiful presented. Very nice tuna and more. Will absolutely come back. Highly recommendable!

This place offers Japanese and fusion food in a hip, young and lively setting. Of course the serve sushi but also other plates - I had a very good Beef ‘n Pot from their menu.

It’s okay not the best and it’s very overpriced. There should be more selections of sushi and drinks. Friendly staff and quick service

Great atmosphere with excellent sushi. Went here with 6 friends. Had a great time with some neat drinks. Will go back.

This was an upscale trendy place. We were looking for sushi and stop at this restaurant. We did not have reservation but they accommodate us. The service was really fast we once we order we had our sushi right away. It was very good.

They did it right! The only thng we disn’t was the high level of rap/disco music that made it difficult to have a conversation during our meal. The sushi was fantastic though, had the spicy tempura rolls which were amazing and my 12 yr old son had the salmon rolls (picture) and he actually ordered another one! If we lived here we would come back!!

Great sushi and sashimi. Service was excellent. Prices were reasonable, although drinks were pricey. We will certainly return.

I really wanted to like this place. It’s a trendy sushi place that serves all sorts of sushi, robata grilling, with good service. It suffers from a big flaw. The food is SUPER salty. They sprinkle salt flakes on everything including the sushi. We ordered an omegatron (big order of nigiri, sashimi, 2 rolls). All of items came beautifully prepared on lovely trays and we started eating them, using a light dab of soy sauce but once we bit in, all I could taste was salt. And it was because each tray was sprinkled with a layer of salt flakes. You can see them in the tray. We ended up eating the sushi without the soy sauce but it’s just not the same as eating regular sushi. Aside from that, we ordered roasted edamame and shishito peppers. These were tasty and had great smoky flavor. We also ordered miso salmon and the pork belly from the grill. The salmon was again super salty. The pork belly was decent but had quite a lot of char on the outside. All in all, the food was ok but the restaurant seems to use salt like there’s no tomorrow. As said before, there aren’t many places that serve sushi and robata grilling. I’ll be going to those other few places now

We were underwhelmed by the sushi selection. We had the tako taco, nigiri, sushi rolls, Vietnamese pork and Japanese pancake. The Vietnamese pork was the best.

I was traveling for work and went by myself based on recommendations. It was billed as a hot new restaurant that is fun, him and not your traditional sushi restaurant. It lived up to the expectations. When you walk in, you hear incredible upbeat music and are greeted by friendly staff, who you can tell love working here. Since I was solo, I took a seat at the bar and purused the drink selections first. They have a fun selection of house cocktails like La Croix-ing Tiger (lacroix, pamplemousse, shochu, and lime) which is served in an actual Lacroix can. They also have a cilantro-lime margarita, japanese ol' fashioned, and a couple others I'll have to try next time. Sushi-san is known for their hand rolls and you can either order a la carte or 3, 4, or 5 which is a better deal. I went with the 5 hand rolls which which consisted of negi hamachi, crunchy fatty tuna, salmon avocado, toro oshinko, and umami scallop. They were all delicious but my favorites were the crunchy fatty tuna and the umami scallop. They have other eats including traditional sushi. I ordered Japanese snapper (awesome), a ginger salmon roll (very good), and some shishito peppers (gotta get some veggies). Yes, it was a lot of food but it was all so good and well worth it. I look forward to my next trip and plan to bring some friends along to enjoy this great sushi spot.
Amazing
Life is about experiences and this is one of the best food experiences I have ever had. Definitely the best sushi I have ever eaten. Daniel the sushi som/GM was knowledgeable, friendly, and you could see he ran a tight ship. Everyone worked together and provided excellent service. If you like sushi let the chef decide what you eat, you won't be dissapointed!
