Breakfast

By Laurence |

Stopped her with friends before we started our day. I had the Huevos Ranchos, I dont like over easy eggs so I had them with scrambled. The sauce on the eggs was great! My friends had chilaguiles each with a different sauce. The Rojo, Verdes and chipotle were the best. I would get there early as the place has 11 tables that fill up fast and the line gets long. Menu is small but everything we had was very good. We will be going back!

Noisey

By BillM551 |

Sabor offered decent Mexican food, but was very noisy. Blaring televisions, clanking glasses and dishes, loud customers made for an unpleasant experience. Service was attentive.

In town for business and this was recommended by our UBER driver. So happy we decided to take his recommendation. Very cool vibe inside. Food and drinks were delicious. So many layers of flavor. Ingredients were fresh and all well prepared. Server was friendly, knowledgeable and got things done. Have already recommended to family who plan on visiting the area soon and would come back myself!

The NEW Sabor on McCullough

Sabor took over the old Tribeca location and it is wonderful! We had breakfast and just loved it. The scrambled eggs were well cooked as were the pancakes and the Mexican meals. Give it a try!

Not Tex Mex

By bearecub |

While I enjoy Tex-Mex food, i am actually more fond of Central Mexico style cuisine, and Sabor Cocina fits the bill. What is the difference many ask? It's in the chili's and spices. For example, their Enchiladas de Mole offer two chicken enchiladas with a homemade mole and sesame seed sauce that makes you think you are in Oaxaca (home of mole). Try the Enchiladas Aztecas made with guajillo peppers and pasilla, filled queso fresco. My last visit had me in heaven with the Enchiladas de Chipotle, two chicken enchiladas topped with a creamy Chipotle sauce and cream fresca. They also offer cheese enchiladas, beef, and vegetarian enchiladas filled with sauteed spinach, red and green bell peppers, mushrooms and topped with the Chipotle sauce (although I'm sure you could ask for any of their sauces. They have a nice sized guacamole dip, a most delicious ceviche, shrimp cocktail, chicken quesadillas, nachos and queso flambedo as appetizers. Back to the entrees; in addition to enchiladas the menu has tacos, chicken, steak, and fish dishes, as well as chili rellenos. I havent ventured that dar on the menu yet, but if it's anything like their enchiladas and ceviche, I know I will be fully sated. Located in The Yard complex, Sabor Cocinabar is not a large restaurant and the two-top tables are a little small, but as it name says, it is also a fully stocked bar. Prices for entrees range from $10-13. Parking in complex in front of restaurant

More than expected

By flksfhtx |

Didn't expect much but we were surprised by the quality of the food. First of all, the drinks were some of the best around, fresh ingredients and definitely not short on alcohol. Recommend the Bloody Mary! The fresh Baja fish tacos, Asado de Peurco, Tampiquena de Res were all delicious. You can definitely tell the food was made from scratch and with fresh ingredients. Highly recommend this place over any other Mexican restaurant in the area.

Excellent food and service

By Jeanette986 |

Great spot near the San Antonio airport for some delicious reasonably priced Mexican food. Ceviche was nothing like I’ve had before but delicious - ceviche mixed with guacamole. We also ordered guacamole, Chile relleno with picadillo, enchiladas Verde, enchiladas de queso, enchiladas aztecas and tempiquena de res. Everything was excellent and service was wonderful too!

So disappointed in new location

By MarciSAT |

I have been to the original location multiple times and loved it! I went, with a friend, to the new location and was so disappointed. The new space is not intimate, the service was awful and the food so-so. I raved to friends about this restaurant but won't be recommending it nor will I be going back. When asked for water, the waitress only brought one glass and tortillas came when we were finished with dinner. The tortilla chips were store-bought, the margarita awful and the food wasn't the same. So disappointed.

Great menu and the waffles were fabulous! We also tried the breakfast tacos, queso and guacamole. All were excellent!

Superb Breakfast

By Don R |

Sabor is a small establishment in a strip center with not a lot of seating, but that is the only negative about it. The food is plentiful and absolutely fantastic. The service is excellent. We started out with the guacamole and queso and it was fresh and tasty. For my breakfast entree I had the Chilaquiles Divorciados with the rojo and verdes sauce with 2 eggs over easy. The portion are really big and I probably could've shared with someone. The rest of our party had the pancakes, waffles, and breakfast tacos. The waffles are huge and loaded with fresh fruit and the pancakes are as big as your plate. The breakfast tacos are also very large. Simply put, this place is amazing and worth another visit.

First time to eat here, went with four adults, three children. Went about 7 PM, no wait. Food good, even kids enjoyed.

First time here recommended by locals. It was truly a Mexican flavor experience. Its a small place with big taste. I had the Enchiladas Aztecas. Delicious! Chips and salsa are amazing too. Im a Mexican from El Paso, I should know!

Loved their mole!

By alexisrachelletx |

I used to live so close to where Sabor is located. I wish it had been there when I lived in San Antonio! I'd definitely have been a regular. When I was visiting my family this past weekend, they picked Sabor for dinner on Friday night. The dinner menu is pretty varied (starters, salads, enchiladas, tacos, flautas, etc.). I chose the pollo en mole (chicken breast covered in mole with sesame seeds; served with rice and frijoles and topped with jack cheese), and I LOVED it. Mole can go very wrong (too sweet or tasting of raw spices that weren't cooked long enough are my most likely complaints about not very good mole), but this mole was YUM. I'd eat it again. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well (my family has been here often enough that they know their way around the menu and ordered their regular dishes)! The service was great. They have a full bar as well. My only complaints are that they're so busy that they had run out of salad dressing when we were there and that it was a bit loud in the room we ate it. But it was a very good meal overall. I'll be thinking about that mole for a while. Left full and happy!

Great Tex-Mex-Mex

By LASGarcia |

Tucked into an Olmos Park strip center, Sabor Cocina Bar serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has some outdoor porch seating and casual indoor seating with a bar. It has Tex-Mex and Mexican options. Each meal I have had has been very good. And the service is great. The only thing I can mention that is a minus is their chips. If they made them in house- I would give it an excellent rating. However, the food is consistently very good.

Great Food....Mexican style and cocktails !

By Wander770035 |

Great food...and a little slow service ! We tried to get in on July 5th and they were clearly overwhelmed with the crowds and turned us away because of a staff shortage. But we went the next day for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the Mango Mojitos ! The enchiladas with Verde Sauce were excellent and so was the salsas ! Definitely the best restauraunt in the neighbourhood besides La Fonda on Main !

Tex Mex house specialties

By Kate P |

Lovely restaurant with great Tex Mex house specialties. Chili rellnos served with wonderful rice and bean/bacon soup. Enchiladas served with three different sauces also a winner.

WOW to a new Mexican restaurant

By Mary Kay S |

I had just plain breakfast tacos but they got my attention because the flavor (and hot sauce) was "sparkling"! I was surprised. The pancakes were good as was the chilaquiles verdes plate. Give it a try!

Discrimination at Sabor Cocina Bar

By Juan L |

**Review for Sabor Cocina Bar** I had a horrific experience at Sabor Cocina Bar. When I arrived with my service animal, he was not wearing a service jacket. It’s important to note that it is not legally required for a service animal to wear a jacket or vest to be recognized. As soon as the hostess mentioned she couldn’t seat us, I explained that he was a service animal. Despite this, she refused to seat us. When I specifically asked if the reason for being denied service was because of my service dog, she confirmed that it was. I even tried to provide her with a card explaining the ADA laws regarding service animals, but she refused to look at it or listen further. When I asked to speak to a manager, she initially refused. It wasn’t until I mentioned the possibility of legal action that the general manager, Pablo Mesta, came to speak with me. His response wasn’t much better. He initially refused to seat us and then offered to put us in a separate section of the restaurant, away from other diners. When I explained that segregating me like that was illegal, he reluctantly agreed to seat us with the general public. By this point, the entire ordeal had triggered my PTSD so severely that I had to leave. The restaurant is owned by Nancy Moreno, and based on this experience, I will not return to this or any business associated with her or Mr. Mesta. The way I was treated left me embarrassed to be a veteran who served in Afghanistan and Iraq and came home with PTSD. Their actions blatantly violated my legal rights. I cannot recommend this place.

Nice!

By Moni |

This a nice restaurant with delicious Mexican food. The staff is very attentive and friendly. It has a relaxed and casual feel. There was a couple eating outside with their puppy by their side. So I can infer it is pet friendly. They serve beer and wine. The mini dessert we had was a flan topped off with crema and 2 slices of strawberry. It was delicious. The appetizer and main dishes were yummy! The Chile relleno con queso and puerco adobado were tasty. The salsa was on point!

NEW LOCATION IS GREAT!

Their new location is 4331 McCoullagh. This location is bigger, but same great food. We love their Chilaquiles . We love stopping by when we are in town. We recommend you try this restaurant. You won't regret it!

Delicious Coffee

By danidb518 |

Found this on accident, looking for a restaurant that served breakfast. Parking area was full and usually that’s a good indication of good food or no other restaurant in the area, maybe both for us. Very festive fiesta Christmas decor around the front door and matching tree inside. Chips were not homemade but ok and the salsa was a creamy sauce that was medium in spice, sure not mild. The coffee was scrumptious with a hint of cinnamon mixed in! I had the huevas rancheros and it was too spicy for me and it came with Two thin slices of bacon and nice chunks of potatoes and refried beans. I asked for tortillas and they were really good. My husband had the OP breakfast plate and the sausage on it was a generous portion. Nice breakfast!
