TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

By Dug S |

If I could give minus stars I would. Stopped with my wife and special needs grandson for lunch. All three of us like Indian food and dine out frequently at various restaurants. Our grandson is outgoing and social and he usually will give everyone a big "Hi, how are you". He is well behaved always, just a bit loud. Just about all respond with smile and a "Hi" back. Not here though. The stuffed shirt owner told us that we would have to keep him quiet. Guess what, they didn't get any of our money nor will they ever.

Poor experience for an overpriced restaurant

By sumaximus |

We called in to reserve a table well in advance before coming. However, we were not given a table for 45 minutes after our reserved time. The owner was apologetic but did not consider it important to rush the food to be cooked even though we had young kids with us. The food was tasty but when you consider a ticket of $125, you tend to expect that they would have done a little more to make up for the poor experience. Also getting to the restaurant was a challenge as there is a fight for parking spots. I will not return.

Awesome American food.

By Sue H |

Wonderful American food even if their menu is mostly Indian/Mediterranean. The Indian bread we had was wonderful and the Prim Rib Dip San was so thick with mouth watering Prim Rib.

Excellent Food, Excellent Service

By 806traveller2 |

Mediterranean and Indian food at its best. Two of us shared the Tandoori Surprise, an order of vegetable Samosas, Paneer Tikka (fried cheese) and an order of garlic nan. It was plenty for us with a doggie bag also. The waiter was very friendly and fun. He recommended the Chai tea, which includes refills, and it was delightful! We each got a cup to go! I had been there for lunch years ago and remember it was quite good then. I was happy to find it still excellent! Reservations strongly recommended. Parking available, but cozy.

Great Indian food

By Krissy S |

Amazing yummy food. This was my second time visiting the Saffron Grill and it will certainly not be my last. Lots of choices and huge servings. Sharing is recommended.

Great food

By theonlyone57 |

Food was great. If you don't want spicy food it is better to mention it twice once when you order and then when they deliver it. They got my order wrong and my mouth burned but they corrected the order immediately Portions are large and very delicious..

VERY NIC CURRY

By Todd E |

The service was good and the Curries were delicious! Nice atmosphere as well. The waiter was helpful in choosing our meals and helped us with the right level of spice.

If price sensitive, order a wrap or appetizer

By John A |

Saffron is a very dependable, good tasting restaurant. Because it is adjacent to a motel I was suspect of the quality. But I think the quality and service is top notch. My only constructive feedback is that I think the prices are a bit high. But one can order a wrap or appetizer if price conscious.

Great Classic Indian food, decent prices

By evac93rd |

Parking is a bit tight, but the service and food are great. We split a butter paneer and a karahi gosht w/lamb and and 2 orders of Nan one garlic and one spinach 3 ways and still had leftovers to take home. All were delicious. I had a Turkish coffee and they did a perfect job making it. The prices are reasonable.

Great Indian food & Fantastic service

By mambokings |

Ok folks - this is a place where you can get service - there are folks who continuously walk around giving you chai or water; they employ so many people that sometimes it looks like an Apple store where there are more employees than customers. This is what service is about. In this day of $15 an hour wage, it is refreshing to see that this place has not cut the staff down - and kept the service at high levels. The ambience is ok - tables are close to each other, you feel crowded, but the place is busy in the evenings. The wine list is ok, not good - they need to change the wine list. They could do so much more with the wine pairing with Indian food, but they do not have the person with the skills to do that - its a los to them and the customers. The food is quite good - it is tasty, comes out quick and the staff did I say they are efficient - very efficient. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.

Great food

We have dined on Saffron's food twice, and been very happy with the friendly and helpful service, and of course the great food.

Nice dinner here

By KweqSmanit |

This place was unexpectedly busy and as well had a larger than I expected menu. The inside is somewhat boring but nice enough, besides a few pieces on the walls there is nothing to write home about or too special. The staff was great here and really was both knowledgeable on the specials and as well on their ingredients and on the drinks. Also they were quick and engaging with our table. They have a mixture of Mediterranean and Indian cuisines for their entrees and my naan bread was good, but over done. But everything else was great.I did not have dessert. The restroom needed servicing but it was a weekend night and they were slammed here when I was there.

Great stop when heading N or S on I5

By AlaskaRover |

My husband & I are always eager to stop here for dinner when driving past. Easy on/off I5 at Northgate, parking(!!) and wonderful food. Portions are large. The nana is both light and chewy. Tandoori items are succulent. Lamb saag has lots of high quality meat (not fatty gristly mutton). Service is friendly & attentive. Outstanding, and a great stop.

Great Environment

By Kevin M |

Great food and friendly service! Be ready to bring your appetite! The atmosphere is amazing and the food smells delicious!

is this really indian, or european indian with really high prices?

By Super D |

we dropped a lot of money in here and went to McD's after. Not sure where to start, but I wouldn't go here in future. Portions and quality were lacking. Food was adequate but we would find somewhere else to go in future where "bland" is not chic...

Go for the entree, skip everything else

By dgnldy |

Been wanting to try this place for a long time, finally went the other night with a friend who raves about this place. She ordered the grape leaves for an appetizer, it was just ok. She raved about some green sauce (we couldn't figure out what its) that came with it, I didn't care for it. They were really tiny, about the size of my thumb, it was either 6 or 7 of them for $7.99, I thought that was kind of pricey. She had the chicken vindaloo and I had the channa masala. She ordered 2 stars and I ordered mine mild. However, mine was spicier than hers, in fact I didn't taste any spice on hers at all. Not sure if they got the order wrong? Either way, they were both very good. For dessert she really liked their baklava. It was just ok. I make baklava and mine is much better if I do say so myself. I would definitely go back again, with or without my friend, but ditch the grape leaves appetizer and dessert, just stick with the entree.

Delicious

New to Seattle, we googled a place to celebrate. We found Saffron Grill and we were thrilled with our choice. The amazing food matched the ambiance. The service was superb! Do try it!

Love this place

By westley_evan256 |

Love the food and atmosphere. I think that the portion size needs to double at $20 an item. Price aside, I've never been disappointed with a dinner there. Good for a college date or if you are on the road for work and want Indian food next to your hotel. Be forewarned pulling out of this places parking lot requires skill and intelligence.

Beautiful surroundings, OK food

By Indigo2BFree |

The mulligatawny soup was a red liquid with minuscule pieces of rice and chicken, mildly spiced. OK for an appetizer, not very satisfying as the mulligatawny soup I’ve had elsewhere. The two papadum were large and broke quite easily. The dipping chutney of mint and tamarind were served together on a tiny saucer, usually, when I get papadum elsewhere, they’re smaller, and there are four dishes of chutney to dip into. The wait staff was very attentive, the settings with all the white linens were beautiful, and the prices are actually moderate. I only spent $12.50 (with tip), but it wasn’t very satisfying lunch.

Great night out dining.

By Merilyn M |

We came in on a Monday night. It was reasonably busy. International dining experience with a variety of ethnic groups dining there, which was fun for us. The food we ordered was excellent. We both ordered dishes we had never tried and they were very nice. Servers were polite and interested in pleasing us. There were tons of choices for entrees and level of heat for the dishes.

Great Happy Hour menu

By TravelTalk2 |

There's a reason this place is so crowded in the evening. First off, they have a fabulous HH. Lots of choices for reasonable prices. The food is very good, the service is attentive and the restaurant has a nice classy Indian style. Sharing plates is the way to go here, whether doing HH or dinner. My only complaint is that they don't have a lunch menu.

Better than good expectation !

By Westsis |

Though I always read through recent review before I tried new restaurant. Saffron grill did exceed what I expected and my kids first time had Indian cuisine and they loved it! Kudos to hotel nexus ( next door) for making reservation for us so we didn’t have to wait too long. Tuesday night it was packed of people I can imagine how weekend would look like. Great butter chicken and curry dish. The naan was bigger than my face x2 Good service. Thanks for surprised rice pudding dessert too. Hope we can find same level of food and service in home town

Outstanding Indian food and service

By Peter C |

We celebrated a co-workers birthday here. Actually she treated us. She's Indian and it's traditional to treat. The food is spectacular. We had a little of everything on the menu and everything we ate was a delight. The service is the best and the interiors are gorgeous. Overall a very nice dining experience.

Great for happy hour or dinner!

By Krisinseattle |

Great for happy hour or for a large group (make sure you have a reservation for a large group!) We enjoyed small bites during happy hour including Baba ganouj, an excellent Saffron salad, Samosas in meat & vegetable, naan, vegetable Pakoras and Chicken Tikka. With 4 glasses of wine bill came to $60 before tax & tip.

Disappointed in how Saffron Grill handled our situation

By Shakira A |

We visit Saffron grill frequently. Our experiences previously have been impressionable. Not so much this time. We called in an order of Aloo Gohbi, Sag Paneer and Mango Paneer Curry with a side of garlic Nan at 4:05pm. When we called in the female staff said it would be 25 minutes. We arrived at 4:20pm. They said my order will be a few minutes. In the next 55 minutes I was told my order is on its way 3 times. After waiting in their lobby for 5o minutes I stood up and asked what was going on. Again they said, Your food is being packaged right now. An elder brought me my food after seeing 4 orders leave the building ordered after mine. He said here is some Baklava, Happy New Year. I said to him this is unacceptable, we usually have no problems with ordering food and getting excellent service here. He said sorry and that was it. We got home and unpacked our food. The food was disgusting. The Sag Paneer was watery, lacked flavor. We crunched down on three shelled cardamom pods in different bites. Again unacceptable. The Aloo was greasy and mushy. After waiting 55 minutes and spending $55 for food we expect to be delicious, we were highly disappointed. We will not be recommending Saffron Grill to any of our patients, friends or family due to the way things were handled. A refund should have been issued. Saffron Grill has disappointed us and left us looking for another Indian restaurant to invest in.

Not impressive but OK

By Matth-t-S |

Today I went to Saffron Grill, based on the reviews on Tripadvisor. I had high hopes for some great identifying dishes I like to order when I visit an Indian restaurant for the first time. Those dishes typically indicate the quality of and care for the Indian food. I noticed an American section on the menu serving burgers and such and was immediately concerned a bit that this might be an Americanized Indian restaurant... So I ordered vegetable samosas and vegetable biryani. The vegetable samosas came as a dish of two pieces. However, the size of each samosa was considerable if not enormous. I know the food problem in North America comes from its sizes but this each samosa was at least 3 times the size served in proper high-quality Indian restaurants in Europe. Anyway, bigger is seldom better and so true in this case. The samosas came with a bit of slaw that was simply dumped on the plate. Talking about size, the portion of mint sauce was quite inadequate for the size of these samosas. The mint sauce had a good taste but was nothing special. My recommendation to this restaurant is to take one samosa and divide in two or three smaller pieces. The biryani was ordered spicy (real spicy and not American spicy as the waiter put it). The spice level was disappointing. It was spicy but if this is 'real spicy' then they need to visit a famous Indian restaurant in Bellevue and order real spicy. Then they would taste the difference. The dish was OK; nothing special and even more close to poor than OK. The rice was very wet and it seemed is was not very fried and not prepared with Ghee. The vegetables were coarse; big, large chunks of carrot and potato. This can be finer and more delicate. Raisins and cashews were hard to find. Overal, likely because of a lack of Ghee, frying and too much water, the dish did not taste great. I have visited over a hundred Indian restaurants and some of top quality. I typically go to Bellevue or Redmond for great restaurants but wanted to try downtown Seattle for a change since I stayed there. Not recommended if you ask me. For much better quality food I would check those out. My rating is poor to average at best.

Lots of option in Menu with decent quality

This is one of my favorite place when i want to drive. They have good selection of items with Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

Flawless Indian Cuisine

By DP49 |

Our first time visit was on a Friday just after 2:00 pm. While the restaurant was fairly crowded, maybe due to the Christmas week, we were immediately seated in a nice booth. Of note, all the wait staff was quite attentive and pleasant. My observation was based on the ease and quickness of the staff to ‘share’ tables whereby ensuring no party was waiting for or on anything. We started by sharing the calamari appetizer. It was flash fried perfectly in a very light crust and was excellent. The order came up very quickly and the portion size was best suited for one. It took us a little while to make our lunch selection since the menu is quite extensive. In addition to a small Mediterranean food offering, the menu also has an even smaller American section for the less adventurous. The main menu is Indian and what was printed paled in comparison to what was served. To start with, the portion sizes are quite generous. My wife, as much as she enjoyed her Tandoori Salmon, had over half the order, including the rice and vegetables boxed to go. I had the Tandoori Surprise that consisted of chicken, shrimp, cod, lamb and sausages with onions, vegetables and basmati rice. Everything on the plate was delicious and, if you want to eat it there then it is definitely a dish for someone with an appetite. We also ordered a Pesto Naan. The bread was packed with Pesto and had to be at least 12-inches across! Upon finishing our meal, even though we took a pass on dessert, our waiter served us a complimentary Baklava that, like everything else, was excellent. Our only complaint was that we took so long to come here. Yes, we will definitely return.

Dont be dazzled by the decor

By AngelaHansen84116 |

Large menu selection. But average food. The people raving about this place have to be dazzled by the fantastic decor which is worth a visit. This place Shares a parking lot with the Hotel Nexus, so the hotel guests are there quite often, but they do not offer hotel guest a discount, although they have an advertisement on the wall in the lobby of the hotel and on the hotel's guest information channel. There is a small 'to go' type mediterranean place in the strip mall right next door with better and cheaper food in my opinion.

Outstanding East Indian Food

By Aaron G |

Went on a double date to the Saffron Grill and was very pleasantly surprised by the high quality food. I enjoyed the Vindaloo with lamb with a mild-medium level of spice. Another in our party had the Tikka Marsala and raved about it. We had the naan bread appetizer with the absolutely spellbinding cilantro tamarind chutney dipping sauce. My companion had the tandoori fish and she (as a first time for this cuisine) was sold! Our 4th companion is a vegetarian and was able to find plenty of options. The service was excellent. The food is not cheap, but this isn't a fast casual restaurant. You get what you pay for. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Highly recommended!

By Elise W |

We were staying at the Nexus Hotel just beside Saffron grill. We decided to go to Saffron grill because it was nearby. The staff was really nice and the manager got us a table real quick. The atmosphere was great and the food tasted amazing!! Extra thanks to our waiter Ryder, you are really good at your job!

A Verry Impressive Restaurant

By Roger H |

This is an excellent place to eat. It has good Indian and Mediterranean food, excellent service, and has a classy atmosphere. if going for either a lunch or a dinner, arrive early to avoid the line and the wait after being seated. They do not rush your food, neither do they push you out to clear the table for the next group. They have an extensive menu and it looks like they put extra effort into the presentation of every item, This would be a good place to take a client for a business luncheon or a spouse for a special occasion.

Staff needs some guidance

By Prissa |

The food was good. We ordered from the Happy Hour and main menu. But we did not order dessert and were chatting before we left when one of the hostesses came by. She said she needed our table in five minutes. I cannot remember when I have been asked to leave as they needed the table. The problem was that there at least three booths and four or five other tables available. This does not make us want to come back anytime soon.

Beautiful, modern, well equipped

By Bharat P |

This is a very pleasant restaurant. Beautiful interior and very friendly environment. Full of staff and excellent service. Our server was Vijay, who was very polite and attentive. Alcoholic beverages we ordered, were properly made. Appetizers and main meals were superb. Everyone would enjoy this restaurant

Great Find! A Treasure!

By stephroeder |

We were looking for a place to have dinner and when we found this gem, we were PLEASED! The owner himself will seat you, your water glass is never empty or half full. Friendly and the food is delicious! Everything we ordered was fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxing and the staff very friendly.

Moderately Priced Vegetarian Restaurant

By KRAMA200 |

We were satisfied with the amazing Menu(Indian) offered at this restaurant. The Portions were big and preperations excellent. The Spicer level adequate even to satisfy American Clientelle. We had Paneer Tikka with accompaniments and Pulao. A Bendi Preperation and topped with Rasa Malai. All well prepared.Try if you want Indian Cuisine.

Pre-wedding lunch, on a short and rushed visit…. With fine Indian food ~ for the area !

By Alok Jolly |

In Seattle on a brief, rushed trip, to attend a wedding.. hosted the family to a pre-wedding-day lunch. All good.. they chose the venue and I was the short-term, traveling visitor experiencing what they wanted to taste. Personally ? I never choose to eat Indian when I go out (if I can help it…) because Indian food outside the home is just too fatty, overtly spicy (not hot-spicy but spice-spicy) and artificial. Saffron Grill is located in a small, suburban strip-mall, right off Route 5 South, and some 8 miles North of downtown Seattle. Looks like this is a new phenomenon, because a google search for “Indian Food” in the area turns up very few hits…. so Saffron Grill must be working very hard to break in and make a name… Good Luck, Gentlemen !! I could see the desire to make an impression, because the whole time we were there, (we had three Indians in our group of nine) the Owner was hovering around our table personally looking after our needs and directing his staff to be on their toes !! The décor is, surprisingly, NOT Indian kitsch ! It’s somewhat normal American (whatever THAT is !) apart from some typical Indian wall-art and carved wood panels scattered about the large spaces, setting off an expanse of brick-face and mustard yellow painted walls. Plus cloth covered tables, striped fabric banquette settees and dark wood chairs with cheery fabric seats, hanging glass lamps, flowing purple drapes ….yeah, “normal.” But it works for the space ~ and pretty brightly and pleasantly, Having said that, the service was very good (under the watch, so to speak…) the food looked very good and the aromas were pleasant and appetizing ~ from afar and within. I won’t detail the virtues of each item we ordered as I do not claim expertise in outside Indian food (as said above….) and did enjoy what I ate. All the guests expressed full satiation and satisfaction, so it was a successful meal. Apart from the usual assortment of wines and beers, we had two kinds of “breads” (plain and garlic naan) well done without being leathery, samosa chaat (a preparation enjoyed by all street-food snackers in India,) vegetable pakoras and Bombay hot wings (all well done and succulent) as starters.. The entrees were the all-time staples of Indian restaurant food: Coconut curry prawns ($20.99,) Palak Masala Paneer ($15.99) which is spinach as a sauce with cottage cheese (like ricotta), Rogan Josh Lamb ($18.99) which is a spicy lamb in a thick gravy, and a Tikka Masala Chicken ($18.99) which is chicken nuggets in a thick, spicy tomato and spice sauce…. all very Slough !! To be fair, the taste and preparation were well balanced. The meats were cooked without being chewy and the lamb did not have any gamey undertones (which it seems to have in many preparations) and the shrimp was well sized and smooth. In addition, the cottage cheese (paneer) was just right.. it may have been a mass produced and packaged (who has time to make it fresh in a restaurant kitchen ?) but it was fresh and creamy. All told, it was $25/person after tax… very reasonable, specially compared to the NY prices we normally deal with. NICE !! Go try it !! ….and good luck, Gentlemen.

Great food and staff

By Aline C |

Food was amazing and the waiter and staff all very attentive. Very pleasant restaurant atmosphere as well. Highly recommend - a very large menu for all types of eaters.

Outstanding Indian Food and Great Service

By Julia R R |

We visited Saffron on A Sunday night with my 23 year old son and his friend. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for a city. The restaurant was crowded but our service was superb!

Really really good Indian cuisine

By Bonnie C |

Our client recommended this restaurant and boy what a delight!!! I was amazed at how many people were there at 830 at night on a week night. We started with appetizers, the mixed tray was delicious great hummus etc. I had the tandoori tikka chicken without bones. Very good! Others had the seafood trio, brown chicken curry and the cauliflower dish. All very good!! They brought us a fresh baklava but I was stuffed. The others ate it up!!

Great food and treat

By Karl L |

Visiting Seattle and staying at the Hotel Nexus. They mentioned this restaurant which is right next door and it was outstanding. Don't let the prices fool you you're going to get a very filling meal. Properly seasoned very hot and fresh food with great service. Restaurant was impeccably clean and the staff was very polite. You have to get the naan bread it's fantastic.

Over priced, small portions, poor quality

By Tara T |

Dinner with a fried at the Grill was not so good as the food quality was quite poor. The lunch items were rather over priced and the portions were small.

Great meal! Make a reservation.

By yasureyabetcha |

We came on a Saturday evening and this place was packed. Glad we had a reservation because the wait was near an hour, They have a parking lot and it was nearly full. The menu offered a large selection of great looking choices. Our food was delicious!

Overwhelming Menu, Yummy Food

By DKL317 |

Stayed at the restaurant next door, so this was the closest place for dinner after a long day of travel and checking in. I was pleasantly surprised! I got takeout to go back to my room, and enjoyed myself immensely on starters - pakora, tandoori delight, salad, and papadum. I had more than enough left over for another meal.

Great Mediterranean Food

By michellegH4921JT |

I always enjoy dining at the Mediterranean food. I have been there a number of times. I know the owner from his other restaurant Taste of India. The food is good, the staff is attentive. There is both Indian cuisine and Mediterranean choices.

great food, excellent service.

By Floriano P |

This Sunday night, the 10th of Sept when my wife, daughter and son in law came for dinner, was no exception. We were seated with minimal waiting time and once again excellently served. The staff are respectful, charming and very attentive to our needs. And as usual, the food is very tasty, most satisfying to the palate. The ambience as a whole is very pleasant, the cadence of activity unhurried but purposeful. I feel at home eating here. I glow with satisfaction as well, when I go home from here. Thanks, Saffron Grill.

Wonderful ambeince

By planetrambler |

This place has very good service and ambience. Food is fine and not overpriced. Better to book in advance to avoid wait time.

Delicious Food

By wycomgal |

We had previously been into this restaurant around lunchtime for a couple of drinks during the day and decided to have dinner here as we were staying at the Hotel Nexus. On arrival, we were shown to a booth but my husband couldn't be seated (he had knee problems) so we asked if we could move to a table instead. The Owner was very obliging and we were soon reseated. Our meal was delicious (can't remember what we ordered now) and the service was excellent. Despite it being Saturday night and packed out, our meal was served in an extremely timely manner. Could not fault anything! Thoroughly recommend.

Spectacular

By Fusion3 |

A week ago last Saturday my daughter and I were looking for a new restaurant to try and I suggested the Saffron Grill. I had driven by it on many occasions and the restaurant always looked inviting. The food was absolutely delicious and both the service and environment first rate. I had the Keema Kabob Lamb and she had the Tandoori Suprise! We will be regulars at this restaurant, for sure.

Great Food!

Wide variety of food options. Indian, American and plain goodness! Loved the Hummus, Garlic Naan, Steak, chicken dishes... and salads, and fabulous desserts

better than expected

Stayed at the Hotel Nexus next door. Got take out. The tandoor bone-on chicken and house salad were outstandingly good and plentiful. I would recommend again.

Eclectic Indian Based Menu - Best Curry Chicken & Garlic Nan Ever Served

By Inquilinus |

Very knowable waiters. Majority of entries were very good. ranged from excellent to very good. Especially noteworthy was the Mazza, Curry chicken and excellent garlic nan.

Great service, great food

By TravelLady724 |

We have driven past this restaurant a number of times and have always wanted to stop here. We finally had that opportunity on a sunny Sunday afternoon and are we glad that we did. Our server, Dan, told us about the family owned restaurant and he explained different things on the menu. He made some suggestions and gave us lots of time to look over the menu. We ordered two curry dishes - the Butter Chicken and the Coconut Lamb Curry along with the garlic nan. The nan bread was huge and I took some home with my leftover Butter Chicken. We both enjoyed our entrees very much! We also had a couple of draft brews which we got at the happy hour price. The owner gave us dessert since it was the first time there for us. But it won't be our last!

Food and Service are Worth It!!

By afernan2 |

Mohammad was extremely kind, helpful and accommodating, The food provided was hot and delicious. Well worth the money. They have a wide range of food choices and everything we ordered was excellent. Would definitely order from Saffron Grill again.

A taste of the middle east

By steveinmt2019 |

If you like curry, kabobs or falafel anything Indian or Mediterranean, this is the right place. It does get busy but it's large enough to accommodate everyone. There is an extended menu guaranteeing some thing for every one.5 stars

Great Indian food

By footfanatic |

Just happened to see this place and stopped in. I was delighted with the service, food and pricing for lunch in the Seattle area. Nice menu with Indian, Mediterranean and American options.

Huge selection of delicious Mediterranean and Indian food

By Sarah L |

My friends and I stopped in here based on her recommendation. She and her husband eat here frequently and always talk about how consistently delicious the food is. She was right. The food was delicious and the staff extremely welcoming and attentive. We tried three of their appetizers including naan, pakora and dynamite shrimp and loved every one. We shared three entrees - including hariyali bahaar with paneer, tandoori salmon and chicken tikka masala. One thing I love is there are so many options for vegetarians, vegans and those of us who eat meat and seafood. Can’t wait to go back and try some more of their abundant choices.

Excellent Chai, busy location

By Sunie9 |

This place was hopping! I walked down from my hotel that shared the parking lot to get some dinner to take back to my room. The line for service was almost out the door. I was a little nervous that I'd have a lengthy wait but the Saffron staff jumped to serve me. The restaurant was very full of families and groups of friends. People were seated as quickly as possible and treated with friendliness and respect while waiting. There was a genteel man running the front end, welcoming guests and ensuring his staff helped waiting customers to a hot glass of chai (which was excellent!). I'm a bit of an Indian food novice and they happily provided me suggestions based on my preferences. The food was hot and fresh, ready for me to go within 15 minutes. I was very pleasantly surprised by my experience and would love to come back again with family and friends.

Got it to go

By Shauntel P |

Really yummy. I ordered the chicken masala and it was awesome. I also ordered garlic naan and it was good but I wouldn't recommend it to go. Just lost some of its texture being wrapped up.

Great Service, fairly Good Food, A Bit Overpriced

By Brian G |

Very good service. That was the most important part. The food was good, but I would say its not better than an Indian restaurant that would be less expensive. It was worth it for me because I was staying at Hotel Nexus.

Brilliant Food and Pleasant Service..!!

By S Sandhu |

Went for dinner after a tiring journey..!! Enjoyed the drinks and grilled food. Freshly prepared, properly done and nicely served. The food menu is full of choices and so is the drinks menu. The local beer was great to taste and I believe is must if you are visiting this place.

A fusion Indian restaurant

By Scotty S |

The Saffron Grill has a large selection of foods/menu to choose from. The chef has not limited themselves to only traditional Indian dishes. We noticed a pineapple curry masala, which we’ve never seen before. We decided to give it a try just because it’s something new. We ordered the spicy level at a five out of five, which probably was a mistake as the heat spice was a singular spy, set overwhelmed the flavor of something that’s probably intended to be more of a delicate dish. Palak paneer was good. That being said it would’ve been even better if the chef would have seared all of the sides of the paneer prior to adding it to the palak. The weight staff was very polite and helpful. Their warm and charming approach to the clients certainly made for a wonderful experience.

Excellent food and service

Every employee is so kind and helpful. The service is professional and they make sure you have a positive experience. They go above and beyond. The food is delicious!

Wow! Loved the food, loved the service

By Glendyne R |

We were staying at the Nexus Hotel (they share a parking lot) and decided to give Saffron Grill a try because of the convenience. We were super impressed from the moment we walked in the door. The staff had just been finishing up a meeting. You can tell the owner(s) run a "tight ship" with their employees but I mean that in a good way. I think the owner really wanted to make sure his employees were knowledgeable about the cuisine. Our waiter was and gave us some recommendations. The food was well prepared, flavorful, and fresh. The portions were fairly large. The highlight was definitely the nan bread which we had as an appetizer. We were very impressed with the service... it was one of those places where you couldn't keep your water glass empty and as soon as you were done with a plate someone was there to pick it up almost instantly. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about this restaurant and will be back next time we are in the Seattle area.

Great food and great atmosphere

By Offthecouch65 |

A group of us got together with an old friend from out of town. I was the only one in the group who had not been to Saffron before. The restaurant was completely full on a week night so I knew it had to be good. The staff was great and the owner even made the rounds to greet his guests. Everyone loved it. The naan bread which we ordered before our meal was huge. Try the spinach naan.

Good and Bad

By Jay N |

Sometimes the dinner experience gets spoiled by the waiter/server. We orders few items, most of them were good, once called Chilli Vegetables was tasty like Chinese food, kind of sweet. We checked the description, the food did not match anything like it. We told the waiter, he lied to us sawing it does tastes sweet, would not even acknowledge that it is not good. A good place would have replaced with somethin else when he say we had eaten just a spoon of the item.

Amazing from Beginning to End

By DrColby |

Oh Saffron Grill, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways: Coconut chicken, Kashmiri beef, Tandoori sampler, baklava, cheese dessert, and cinnamon honey ice cream. Can't wait to return to Seattle to dine here again.

Authentic

Very good; huge menus; various regions of India represented! Great food, service and atmosphere. Only reason I didn’t give a 5 was the price. It’s just a bit more expensive than it should be IMO. Cheers.

Truly mediocre food in a faux-fancy atmosphere at "elegant" prices

By Bisbeticone |

This is Americanized, blanded-out Indian food for people who don't really like Indian food but are willing to eat it in a place decorated like a high-end Holiday Inn in Hyderabad. We sampled Chicken Biryani (a bore that arrived lukewarm) and Madras Masala with paneer. Both were fairly tasteless -- a bit like frozen entrees. "Medium" spicy was "not spicy at all." The best thing on the table was the small ramekin of flavored yogurt. A jar of chutney placed on a table with a spoon (want to bet that a lot of people have used a spoon, licked it, and stuck it back in the jar?) was vinegary, chemical-tasting, and generally unpleasant. The service was efficient if impersonal and cold. Because (personal pet peeve), I truly detest upselling, the waitress's admonishment that we "couldn't do without the (expensive) bread" fell on deaf ears. Warning: Do not touch your water glass. If you do, someone will appear to refill it every single time you take a sip. Every. Single. Time. It's nice to have someone pay attention to whether you need water; it's irritating to be interrupted constantly. $40 for two -- no drinks, no sides, no appetizers, no nothing -- is on the silly side. In a place like Seattle, this place doesn't even bother to compete with the good food that's available, and it certainly cannot compete on price.

Don't order the steak!

By planepowell |

Some in our group ordered indian fare; I ordered the Seafood Linguini and it was OK. But my wife ordered the NY strip steak and it was the worst she could remember ever trying to eat. Tough and half fat. The prices were above normal by a bunch. Single plate of hummous was $5.99 and was very tiny. I will not eat there again.

Excellent food

Excellent food and excellent, professional service from our server Imitiyaz. Will cone back again for more the wonderful meals!

Great experience!

By OregonCountry |

My wife and I went here for Valentines Day dinner. We arrived early for happy hour (they have a good HH), and since there are a few small tables in the bar, we just sat there throughout the dinner hour. We had a couple drinks and chatted for awhile before ordering dinner. I ended up ordering the Lamb Rogan Josh for dinner, which was very good. By dinner time there was a large crowd waiting by the door to be seated, so we were glad we came early. We probably sat at our table eating and drinking for 2-3 hours. No one ever made us feel rushed, and the service was great. We will definitely be back when in Seattle.

Over priced!!!!!

By Rebecca C |

We have been a fan of this restaurant for years but our most recent visit will be our last. For a family of 4 (3 entres) the bill was $200!!! This was for rice and curry! On top of this the server added a 20% gratuity for a party of 4! This has never happened in the past. We always tip well and this was offensive. Save your money and find another Indian food restaurant. Seattle has a lot of them and the majority are delicious and much more reasonably priced.

Surprise location

By GEK549 |

My first thoughts about this Restraunt were of concern due to the area and location. The place was comfortably packed but not to the point of being uncomfortable. The host in front greatest and called us by name when the table was ready. The food was very nicely done and we have a great. The price we paid was well worth the visit. I will eat here again.

Very unprofessional

By Shannon G |

Went on Valentine's day. We picked up Uber eats from here. They were rude and lied about how long the order would take before done. They acted annoyed by all the people there picking up food.

Many Options for Indian Food

By Rose |

Three of us shared three different Indian courses. Each came with a large plate of rice. Many sauces were available from which to choose - then decide if you want vegetables, chicken, beef, fish, etc with it. We ordered one serving of naan which was plenty for the three of us. Other members of our group ordered fish and chips - which they said was tasty. Another person ordered tandoori chicken - more than she could eat! Large servings of everything. Only strange thing was that the waiter brought the bill before we were finished eating!

Crazy Busy on a Saturday night- quick service, good food, near North end shopping center

By Pepper |

This is a very big restaurant, with an enormous menu ( you name it- burgers as well as endless Indian dishes) and good food. No, not at all the best Indian food I've had, but good enough- with quick and expert service. I thought the Tandoori chicken was the best dish, followed by the lamb in mango gravy. The chicken Tikka Marsala had a good sauce but I thought the meat in the lamb dish and the chicken dish was overdone. The poppadum and Nan were good. I think this is a great restaurant for a quick and very good meal. Not fine dining- but does everything have to be? I'd say no- and I would go again.

YOU'LL FIND SOMETHING TO LOVE.

By tenmiletraveler |

Elegant atmosphere, attentive service, reasonable prices and a menu that goes on and on. This place is a whole class on indian and Mediterranean foods. Waiters were helpful in educating those who were unfamiliar. We thought it some of the best food we had ever had; from fish and chips to curry. Easy access off I-5.

Terrific staff and food

By J Weiler |

The naan was awesome, one of the best I have had in a long time. Loved the rice and Curry specialty chicken was perfectly cooked very tender and the medium/hot was the right heat amount for me, the tikki masala w/ prawns very tasty I should have requested a bit hotter, order medium spice but still very tasty and the prawns were cooked perfect. Wait staff was great very attentive we were there at 3 on a Friday . Enjoyed our visit and will go again before our vacation is over and fly back to NC

Take out order

By Service2try |

Ordered eggplant with, potatoes, curry sauce, rice and garlic naan as a take out order. The food was disappointing.

Must try !

By Swagata D |

This was such a great find! Called them beforehand to reserve a table for 6 as it was a busy night. They were ready. Excellent service. The hostess especially checked with with us about Halal meat. She clarified that some were not halal and we appreciate the honesty. Dates were on the house on the occasion of Ramadan. Food was perfect, with generous portions.Overall, a must visit for delicious Indian flavors in Seattle.

Great Food & Service

By derrickwg36 |

This is a great Indian Food Restaurant. The food is delicious and the staff are outstanding. They also serve Mediterranean Food, but I didn't try it during this visit. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great Indian Food

By hfulghum |

Other than the truly awful parking and a lack of easy access to the restaurant, this is a really great place to have a meal. The food is top notch, with good variety and excellent service. Try the mango chicken. My favorite.

I had been to this hotel with my nephew Great place to wind up. I could find an authentic Indian and Mediterranean food nice to visit that place

Wow! Excellent

By Chris K |

The Tikka Masala both chicken and prawn were delicious. The Rogan Josh was also excellent. We also enjoyed the vegetable pakoras and some plain naan. The service was very good and friendly. This will be a definite repeat when we are back in Seattle.

"Some of the best Indian food in Seattle."

By Oliver S |

The shahi korma, and the tandoori chicken are amazing. So are the naan and the baba ghanoush. The mango lassi and the mango lemonade are definitely worth trying. The ambience is great. They often provide free desserts. Parking is sometimes challenging.

Good food close to Hotel

By paharborview |

Ate here because it was close. Found the meals and service great. Will try it again next time I visit.

Wonderful food!

By Escape27468096241 |

Great food. Unfortunately I am not able to eat most Indian food but the menu has American dishes and lovely salads. Wait staff and host amazing. In Hotel Nexus parking lot. I ate dinner there both nights we were in town. Had wonderful grilled Angus burger with grilled pineapple on it. Next night had Mediterranean salad with grilled wild Pacific salmon on it. Everything was perfect! Beautiful, clean, nice. If you don’t have reservations and over 21 ask to be seated in bar area. There are many nice tables that are not visible from the front dining area.

Indifference

By TravelBuff517 |

Arrived 10 minutes prior to reservation time. Waited and watched as others were seated who arrived after us with no reservation. Seated 5 minutes after reservation time, order was finally taken 30 minutes later. When food arrived, it was beautiful, hot, and delicious. If it were not for the indifference shown at welcome and ordering, thus would be a wonderful place.

Good restaurant.

By Compass202799 |

The restaurant is in good location. It has good ambiance. As a professional chef I have to give my opinion about food.... we tried 3 different appetizers and those were ok only. Those could be better with quality (veg samosa and beef samosa needed more seasoning in the filling mixture, chicken wings have no taste). After having these appetizers we decided not to have dinner! I hope improvements when I visit next time! Thanks

Enjoyed it!

By JovielSeattle |

Beautiful inside and food was good... Many choices on menu, not just indian food. We choose several dishes both indian and american and it was all very good. Service was good, very nice, thoughtful people all around.

Delicious food

By Mitchell |

I was in Seattle for a couple of weeks on business and my Indian colleague suggested Saffron Grill for dinner. If you fancy Indian/Mediterranean cuisine especially curry-based dishes, then you're going to love it there. Honestly I loved the samosas, chicken tandoori, and the very flavorful chicken Tikka masala. They have huge servings too that are great for sharing. The place was packed when we were there and I wouldn't be surprised because the food is amazing.

A&G

By Fishgypsy |

Good food, American cuisine is offered, not open for breakfast. Offers lunch & dinner, reasonably priced menu.

Great but expensive place

By BTR |

I really like this place. The food is flavorful and full of spice, the service is friendly and attentive, and the menu is extensive. I generally get either the Royal Biryani or the (brown) Curry Specialty, both of which are consistently very good. The naan portions are huge. Spice levels are keyed to the bland palettes of Seattlites, so go for the highest spice level if you want any real kick at all. My one sticking point is the price. Chicken curry and naan is $20, and that is during the cheaper lunch pricing time. That seems a bit steep to me.

Great lunch option.

By Richard R |

We wanted something different, and a quick lunch as well. The Saffron Grill fit the bill as they say. Excellent food. Good service. And we weren't alone - the parking lot was full!

Fun local crowd

By Ty R |

This restaurant is right next to a hotel that is popular for medical travel, so there are always lots of visitors frequenting it. There are also a steady group of locals that frequent it. I preferred sitting at the bar, where you can chat with people more readily. Food is very good and well priced. Excellent assortment of Indian cuisine and salads, with some American standards for any taste. Deserts are excellent too.

Wonderful flavors

By Jennifer C |

Came here as a last minute decision and it was a great find. Butter chicken, samosas and naan were amazing and so full of flavor! Will definitely be coming back here soon.

Good food

By Catherine S |

Prices fair atmosphere nice, a bit of a wait to get in but food was worth it. Recommend this establishment.

Helpful staff, good food

By Judy P |

My husband and I stopped in on Monday Nov.28th for a quick lunch. We ordered two of the naan choices. Lamb and Spinach/Paneer. I would have preferred more paneer. The naan was very good. They come with cilantro/tamarind dip - fresh and delicious. The chai tea was excellent. While I don't have anything else to review, the staff was friendly and helpful with our questions, the aromas in the room tantalizing, and the menu looked promising so we will most certainly try it again. We were there at 12:30 so parking was available, but I could see how it could be difficult during dinner.

Fantastic

By Marsha Thomason |

Great service. From the minute I walked through the door the great service started. All staff was excellent. Service was fast and food was so delicious. The Butter Chicken was melt in your mouth awesome, the garlic Nahn with hummus and cilantro chutney is to die for. Even the specialty drinks were spectacular. Will go again and again..

Amazing

By jmwill1 |

I was very impressed by the food at Saffron Grill. The it tasted great and came in good sized portions. I would have paid a higher price for what I received. The only negative comment that I have is the host and waiters were not very inviting. The interactions seemed awkward and rushed. We had never been there before and had questions in regard to the menu but felt too rushed to ask.

Great customer service mediocre indian food

By zarf1946 |

First off, let me say that the customer service is outstanding! We have been to many indian restaurants over the past 40 years and the Saffron Grill is not what I would call typical indian cuisine. Yes, they have your typical indian dishes but the seasoning is very very mild. We were a party of 8 and ordered just about every type of indian dish on the menu ranging from mild to hot. Not one person was impressed with his or her dish. On a positive note, the restaurant was packed and their chai tea is excellent.

Excellent Indian Dishes

By Jog4fun |

Saffron Grill offers excellent Indian Dishes, such as Tikka Masala, Coconut Curry, to mention a few. The Naan is perfectly baked with a variety of tasty fillings. The overall atmosphere is pleasant, the service is great.

Great Indian food.

By sc0tty7 |

we stayed at a nearby hotel and walked over to this restaurant. What a find. All the food excellent. We like it so well we took friends there the next night.

Saffron is the best

By Mathew R |

This place has the best Indian food I’ve ever experienced. Their naan is delicious and huge. Tikka masala, butter special are my go to. The paneer is wonderful. Great service and atmosphere. I love going here

Incredible food and service

By shanec |

My wife and I do not visit Indian/Mediterranean restaurants often because we didn't feel this style of food would be to our liking. I had Rack of Lamb and my wife had Prawns. My wife had never liked lamb but she tasted mine and could not believe how great it was. It all in the preparation. The restaurant was decorated nicely with comfortable seating and very busy which indicates it is very popular. Even though the meals were delicious, the service was the most memorable. Our waiter, Andrew took the best care of us ever and even spent some time with us after our meals to answer questions on other meals we might like on the menu. We passed on dessert but he still brought us a free sample of Baklava which was incredible. Thank you Andrew for making us feel special.

Excellent Indian food

By Julie L |

My mom, my cousins and I went to dinner last night at the Saffron Grill. The food was amazing! We ordered tandoori chicken, mango curry lamb, coconut curry chicken, butter chicken and naan. We all shared and ate until we were stuffed. Mango curry lamb and naan were my favorite. Rice pudding for dessert tasted wonderful but a tad soupy. Service was prompt and everything was served quickly. I highly recommend having dinner there. I will be back for sure.

Excellent Service

By Chris H |

We had a table of seven and let the server know we were in a rush and had to be out the door in 45 minutes. The food was served quickly as requested and every dish of ours was prepared properly and tasted great. A combination Indian/Mediterranean/western menu offers a good choice for many palates.

A new favorite in North Seattle

By Gary M |

Another couple had given us a ride for a medical appointment, so we took them to dinner. This place was very convenient to I-5 and right in front of our motel so we decided to try it. The decor was very nice and the service was excellent. We all ordered different things; gyros, an Indian dish, a French dip sandwich, and a hamburger. We were all very pleased with our meals, and I remember thinking that I’d certainly paid more for less in a lot of other places. We’ll stop here again when we’re in the area, even when we’re not staying at the nearby motel.

Wonderful Lunch!

By MTS--1000 |

My wife and I had lunch. We found it tasty, reasonably priced with excellent attentive service. I drank too much chi as they were always filling my cup. The garlic naan was prepared just right. The chicken biryani was great. My wife ordered the lamb korma with no spice. It had spice but I thought it delicious. The lamb was excellent. This was my first visit. My wife had been twice before for lunch with friends. We will be dining here again.

Amazing find in north Seattle

By Shirley M |

What a surprise. Found this restaurant this week on a trip. Attracted by menu of Indian/Mediterranean mix. Got bold & ordered Indian dishes. Wow. So good. I have not been a fan of Indian cuisine, but will be swayed now. Decor was authentic as well as menu. Server was patient with my questions & did not waver when I requested alterations. 2 meals were excellent & very tasty. We were impressed. Will look forward to attending this location again. Saffron Grill is a winner.

New to Indian food-loved it

By Susan G |

Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. There is a lot of choices on menu. The waitress helped us pin down options. Food was great. Fun to try new food in a setting that is not intimidating.

Naan are like heavenly cloud puffs!

By LindaSeattle |

The restaurant itself is very elegant looking inside - colorful, clean, crisp linen napkins. Quiet atmosphere even when the place is packed. The service was friendly and professional. Our waitress was outstanding. One member in our party has allergies and the waitress worked with the chef to find an entree that would be appropriate. Our entrees were mainly vegetarian and all were tasty and served piping hot. The spices seemed mild so if you like more spice, add a star. I had an order of plain Naan and it was the BEST that I have ever had. Huge serving - puffy - no scorching - sooooooooooo good. Also tried the Pakkora Paneer and it was also the best that I have eaten! The menu is extensive and so are the beverage options. I had made reservations and I highly recommend doing so. We dined at 5:15 and when we left the entrance was PACKED with waiting customers. I felt that the prices were very reasonable and average compared with other Indian food restaurants. There is parking available.

Excellent Food - Indian, US, and Med kitchen. Can be crowded.

By Jens S |

Indian, med and US cuisine in a nice restaurant. Service is very attentive. The food was excellent. We had the Med sampler plate for starters and the chicken massala for mains. Naan and rice on the side. Portions a very large. The restaurant was very busy and had some waiting time. Very crowded at the entrance. This why only 4 stars.

Amazing food and service

By ksbeatty2017 |

Best food in the world, great service also!!!!!!! Such an amazing variety of food from all over the world.

Very good Indian food. Convenient to I5. Has parking.

By AlaskaRover |

Stopped in for dinner, not expecting much, since it seems to be attached to a motel. So at least there's parking. The place was packed--good sign. Had to wait. Got a table, ordered too much food (large portions). Everything was EXCELLENT! Naan was fluffy and chewy at the same time, which is what I like, but don't always get. Spinach saag paneer was very fresh tasting. Lamb jalfrezi was nicely done. Not gristly, and plenty of lamb. Aromatic sauces. I've been back 3 times. The settings are nice, the staff is friendly, and although it's not cheap, it's good value. I recommend, especially if you are headed north out of Seattle on I5 and want to stop for a good dinner before a long dull drive.

Consistently good

By aze555 |

We've been going to Saffron Grill for about 5 years now and going to their other location in U District for about 8 years. This place gets packed in the evenings so get there a little early for example, yesterday I arrived at 5:15pm for dinner and didn't have to wait for a table but when I left the waiting area was packed. My favorite things to get here in addition to their yummy assortment of curries are 1) hot chai (unlimited refills!) 2) garlic naan. They have parking here too and can accommodate larger groups which is nice. They raised their prices but that's expected since they haven't raised it in a long time. They also serve Mediterranean cuisine which is equally as good. Also, their saffron infused basmati rice is delicious!

wonderful

By 128anders |

Our family visited this restaurant including our two small grandkids. Short waiting time, good space around the table and wonderful meals. Seafood and indien dishes was perfect. Will definitely be back late August.

Disgusting

By Paul D |

By the time I got home from eating at the Saffron Grill on Northgate Way I was nearly sick from the meal I had. I was back and forth to the bathroom for hours with an upset stomach and the runs. Disgusting. When that happens you have to think that something very unsanitary went into the food and the preparation. Will never go back. Soured my taste for Indian food altogether.

Delicious VEGAN food!!!

By Veda R |

We were headed to No Bones for dinner last night and the traffic was terrible. We passed by Saffron Grill and decided to give it a shot. (We were too hungry to go any further lol) The signage said Indian & Mediterranean food; pretty good odds of getting a vegan meal. It was amazing!!! We had no idea that it was linked to Taste of India until we were greeted by a familiar face! I ordered the mango curry with veggies veganised (coconut milk instead of cream) and the Indian salad ... both were amazing!!! It was so good, I ordered more mango curry to take home for tomorrow's dinner!! I can't wait to go back and explore the rest of this menu! This place is one of my new favorites :)

My favorite in Seattle

By Ra0wa0n |

The food was very Delicious! ( Biryani rice with lamb or chicken) , naan bread chicken tekka , Mediterranean salad and chicken with butter! The staff were very friendly and nice. The place was so quiet. I think you should try this restaurant

Strip Mall Gem

By Henry F |

My wife and I stopped by the Saffron Grill for lunch when out shopping. We ordered the Tikka Masala with chicken, Palak Masala (Saag) with Paneer (Cheese) and plain Nan. All of the food was great. We had some to take home for another lunch.

Fun experience!

By fiveottersons |

Great happy hour. Prices are good and the variety on the menu allows a good mix of foods. This was our first time and it was fun to try a number of happy hour items. The garlic naan bread is huge and a definite must. The beef samosas were good. I wish they offered a lamb option since the lamb here is delicious. Food was not very spicy but flavorful. As others have mentioned, service is excellent. Reservations for dinner time especially on the weekends is highly recommended. We went on Saturday at 5pm and the restaurant was half full. By 5:45 it was packed with people waiting.

A Wonderful Meal

By Kathy A |

Our group of 10 enjoyed the following: paneer samosas, potato pakoras, Lamb biryani, mixed grill, chicken vindaloo, butter chicken, garlic naan, and raita. The service was excellent and even though they were really busy, everything was served in a timely manner.

Delicious snack

By MJ115 |

We had a take-out snack this week which was just what we were looking for. Vegetable samosas were very tasty and the humus was so smooth and delicious. Food was prepared quickly and the pick up situation was organized. Would definitely return to try more of their menu.

Bad experience at Saffron Grill

By Inspire39357767450 |

If I could give it zero stars from the moment I walked in I would. I decided to try Indian food for the first time with a friend. We decided to dine-in at this particular place and was debating if after my experience either leave a review or not. I don’t leave reviews, but I decided to due so after a couple weeks. I decided to come June 8th ( few weeks ago) before 2:00pm to dine in with a friend I was meeting there. When walking in I was greeted by a host that was a male who did not have a name tag. He seemed to possibly be middle eastern and who looked to be in his early possible 30s. While waiting to be seated, I was harassed by the host who started to flirt after had greeted me. Then, asked if I was alone to dine-in and asked for my telephone number. He also made jokes and told me I could be playful with him. This made me feel very uncomfortable in the form of how the host made jokes about why did I walk in so lonely and just jokes that were inappropriate. This gets worse because this employee did the same thing to a young lady who walked in to dine-in. A male with a different colored shirt who seemed to be the manager was there and heard his employee harassing another lady did not step in to say something. This whole situation made me not want to go back to this restaurant. I will not be returning here.

Superb all around great food, service and decor

By Archie |

We were looking for a place to eat near our hotel. This Indian restaurant is right next to the Nexus hotel and has plenty of parking. We were greeted warmly by the staff, we had made reservations. It was absolutely packed on a sun night. The decor is very beautiful with Indian sculptures and paintings. Our server Jaimie was efficient and wonderful. We started with some cocktails, a beer and mango juice. We had a mixed tandoori grilled appetizer. Lamb kebab, fish, chicken tikka. It was all delicious. We had a garlic naan which was massive with saag(creamed spinach)chickpeas and tadka dal. Both these dishes came with basmati rice. It was a great meal. We ended with a local pistachio and mango ice cream.

Great place to eat

By Linda H |

The Saffron Grill is in the parking lot f the Hotel Nexus where we were staying. They have great food and great service

Second Time Visiting Saffron Grill

By MEG |

When visiting Seattle in April we ate at Saffron Grill and this August we returned. Their dishes are flavorful and authentic. I would suggest making a reservation since it is always busy. Great food and service.

Would be 5 stars if more Covid safe

By pwiser |

I love Saffron Grill and always enjoy great food and service. However, there was no indication they require staff and customers to be vaccinated as many Seattle restaurants now do (and will be the law in King County as of Oct. 26). I was most disturbed that our very talkative waiter wore his masked pulled down below his nose. I will return to this restaurant once the law goes into effect and customers must be vaccinated to enter. Many come from a nearby hotel from all parts of the country where people are not as careful as those in Seattle.

Stick to the Indian Food

By IP_Travelers |

The Indian food was very good with nice portions. One in our group had a non-Indian seafood combination that was just so-so and nearly $30. The wait staff was very good despite the restaurant being very busy on a Saturday night. We will return if we are in the area again.

Great Lunch

Fast and friendly staff. Popped in for lunch. Food was really good and reasonably priced. There mint chutney and chicken masala was really tasty!

Accident happens But.....

By 99autos |

We had friends reunion dinner with 6 of us.. food ambiance and our server was good...But one of their server dropped their entire dinner plate kabab and plate of rice on one of our friend, soakings him in curry and rice...accidents happened ...... But what happened afterwards is what’s compelling for me to write this review. Owner didn’t even apologize for the mishap despite we were very nice about the mishap. Owner despite knowing this situation firsthand didn’t even offer any discount nor any formal apology..for six people he sent 4 pieces off desert...We asked the waiter that we are 6 the waiter said the owner only offered 4 deserts.... we were willing to forgive and forget the whole thing but the owners stinginess and missing basic customer care and common courtesy was shocking..hence this review...

First Visit

By Bill F |

My first visit to the Saffron Grill was on Mothers Day 2017. Not a good day to review a restaurant, busiest day of the year. However my experience was delightful. Our party of 9 was seated immediately (we had reservations) and included 4 children. Our waiter was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable of the menu. As a retired restauranteur I watched the goings on with interest. The staff was organized, fast and interacted with each other as needed. The kitchen must have been well prepped as our food came in a very reasonable time considering the place was packed. The menu although Indian Cuisine inspired offered alternatives. Well appointed and clean, I would recommend this place as a delightful culinary experience.

It was another wonderful dinner for us at Saffron! This place is the best, best of everything! We love you, thank you!!

Excellent service good food

We hosted a group of 30 and found service to be great. Mr Bhatti, owner of the restaurant took good care of the group directing his staff who were all very responsive. Nice selection of drinks and food.

Fresh and delicious

Stopped in for dinner and eas seated right away. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The menu had classic dishes and some that I didn't recognize. We had coconut shrimp, naan, chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, and mango lassi. All of the food was excellent, fresh, and delicios. Service was great, attentive and not over bearing. Excellent dining experience.

Wonderful Butter Chicken!

By Wanderlust3483 |

Ordered to go from Doordash and was not disappointed….their butter chicken was really good. The prices seem fair for the area and their menu selection was quite extensive. They have something for everyone. Would definitely recommend and go back when in the area!!

Could not be more wonderful

By Catherine V |

The food is delicious and sophisticated. The service wonderful. We couldn't be happier to have found this excellent Indian restaurant.

Delicious, authentic, clean

By apexbeat |

Most Indian eateries in the area appear greasy, smell of stale curry with poor service. This was pleasantly different. There is both Indian and Middle Eastern menu. We tried food from the Indian section. The Madras chicken curry was my favorite. Lunch on Sunday was filled with a short wait.

Overpriced and under whelming ‘international’ food

By Minkxy |

This used to be a really good Indian restaurant but NOT anymore, it’s gone downhill. Why: 1) Food lacks flavor - can’t taste aromatics, spices and no heat the 3.5 tasted like 1.5. Naan was obviously made with processed bleached flour and not a lick of butter. Plus cilantro was rationed to a couple of leaves per dish 2) Plenty of staff and tables but made us wait 10 mins 3) Prices were very high at ~$28 per entree and $7 Naans. On average thats $15 more than most restaurants for those 2 items 4) There is an automatic 20% service charge pre-tax for tables of 4+. That’s really 25% + just for wanting to eat with more than 1 person! 5) Decor inside is tired looking but lots of lights outside to attract you in This is not Indian food but a general international restaurant. We have had better Indian food in Mexico! Positive - decent portions, large naans and d they gave us a complimentary slice of cake (which was stale so obviously they were trying to get rid of it). When we received a bill for $92 for two entrees and two naans - we were a bit shocked. Appreciate prices have gone up but this was ridiculous. If you want Indian food - try one of the many other options that won’t sting your wallet so hard!

Nice Find...

Desperate for some Indian food, and our usual place closed, we went to the Saffron Grill on a Saturday night. The place was busy but we got seats at the bar right away. The food and service was great...huge Naan!!

Simply foodgasm

By ACSquare |

Ambience - nice ambience the place is nicely decorated with Indian paintings and decorations Staff - staff is very courteous and makes sure you are comfortable and served well Food - this is the only place in Seattle where I saw such a varied options of Indian food including vegetarian options. We had chicken dishes , biryani and fish tikka. Simply amazing will definitely visit again Tips - the samosas were not that great , go for the popular dishes as they really taste good and the spice level here is little low for people who like spices . We had asked for spice level 3 but it tasted more like spice level 2

Lunch and dinner

The service wasn't quiet as good as it was on November BUT it was still very very good! The food was hot and very flavorful. The value is great! Will definitely be back!

Great Menu, Bar and Ambiance!

By Daniel Y |

The Saffron Grill has an amazing menu, with great Indian cuisine selections. I ordered the Tandoori Scallops, the most expensive dish, and it was served warm. I sent it back. While waiting the owner insisted I have so me naan garlic bread, which I politely refused. After continued insistence, and assuming this was his was if making up for the meal temperature, I gave in. I soon received an order large enough for 3-4 people! I was asked by the wait staff if I expected to pay for the naan. I said "no" that so really didn't even want it. I was told the owner told them to charge me for it (which they didn't). My meal came back at the same warm temperature, so I just ate it anyway. They do have a great wait staff, an amazing beer selection, and the ambiance is wonderful. I'd try it again, maybe it was an off night for the kitchen.

Amazing food & service

We came here at the end of a long day spent at Seattle Center. We had to wait a bit to get in, but discovered that's because it's such a popular place to eat. The food was delicious and plentiful and they were able to accommodate my gluten & dairy free requests. I would definitely go again.

Best Food in America Period

By David S |

If you want the absolutely, drop dead best food in America then this is the place for you. Their food is primarily Indian, Tandoori Indian, Lebanese and Greek, but the Do had other cuisines here as well including American. Their food is cooked by some of the most knowledgeable and skilled cuisine cooks anywhere. If you eat here once you will be back again and again. The price hovers around $17 or less for an entree, but you get a lot of food and you will leave full and have some to take home. There is nothing on their menu you will not find tasty and tender. The garlic nan and chai are must haves. There is a wide selection of wines and beers. They are busy every night but if you have to wait you won't wait long. There are lots of servers so even though your food is meticulously cooked it will come quickly enough. You will never eat like this again, ever, unless you come back here. You owe it to yourself to trust me on this one.

great food

I have never had the chance to try mango curry, so when I saw it on the menu at the saffron grill I jumped at the chance. little did I know it would be one of the best meals I would have this year.

Really liked this place!

Went here on a whim while staying in Shoreline. The atmosphere/decor is really nice and it was very clean. We had to wait about 5 minutes to get a table on a Saturday evening, but the wait was worth it. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful! I wish I had gotten her name because she deserves a shout out for being one of the best servers I have ever had at ANY restaurant: attentive, friendly, helpful, and considerate. She literally made us feel like she truly wanted us to have a great experience and she certainly pushed the dinner over the top. The food was plentiful and we both had to take half of it home. I would tell you what we had, but I can’t remember the odd Indian dish names, but they were delicious. My wife had a rice and curry dish and I had a goat meat thingy with rice, cashews, raisins, etc. It was a great experience

Eclectic menu, decent food

By wallbanger69 |

Menu is a strange mashup of Indian and Mediterranean food, and is a bit overpriced for what you get. We arrived for "happy hour" and took advantage of a variety of appetizers instead of doing any particular entrees. This proved to be a better value. Service was attentive and prompt. Would probably dine here again if we find ourselves in the area.

Authentic Food experience

By patpatrick96 |

Reward your taste buds with an exciting change of pace. Here you will experience many different blends of flavors, textures, colors and aromas. Even on a Saturday night, the service was swift and seating was a no-wait time. The décor and service were great. The food was prepared well and the variety is extensive. You will certainly leave very full & satisfied.

Always good

By DP49 |

Went there for lunch for the first time in over a year. It hasn't lost any of its appeal. It's quite large and upscale decor. The menu is very extensive with pages of Indian dishes and a Mediterranean section for variety and a small American section for the non-adventurous. My wife had the Falafel platter and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a generous portion and the falafel balls were flavorful and moist, too other at other places they are bone dry. I had the Tandoori Surprise,. It was big and wonderful, lamb, chicken, shrimp, cod, onions and rice. The meats and fish were well seasoned, very tender and very moist. I was pleasantly stuffed, skipped dinner and wait another year before returning. They also have there own off street parking.

A Hidden Gem

The interior is more upscale than you might expect, the staff is very nice, it is a bit expensive but you get wonderful food. Th

Good Indian restaurant

By hayes_jd |

Good Indian restaurant. Broad menu with plenty of vegetarian options. For two, we had hummus, a Greek salad, chicken curry, and garlic naan bread (largest I have ever seen.) That meal with tip was over $45. Great ambiance. Good service. Just too expensive.

The food was excellent with a wide range of cultural dishes. Staff very friendly and attentive. The ambiance was soothing after a long flight. There was a genuine upbeat attitude of staff.

Outstanding

By Linda R |

The food is amazingly good and elevated by the excellent staff. Saffron is located several miles north of downtown Seattle, and worth the drive. (There's plenty of free parking.) The restaurant is of a quality that could stand alone or be associated with a fine inn, but unfortunately is next to Hotel Nexus, which is just a mediocre hotel. Be sure to order the Nan, as it is freshly made and served with your choice of dipping sauce.

A new fan of Indian foods

By Marie C |

I am not a fan of this cuisine, but Saffron changed my mind and taste for their special dishes. I enjoyed this restaurant and its choices of outstanding Indian food so much that I ate there four times in a week! The staff was great in suggesting certain dishes for me as a newcomer and each choice was delicious, nicely spiced and very fresh! I only wish I could have a Saffron Grill near my hometown but I guess I'll just have to revisit Northgate, WA and enjoy the experience again very soon!

Great family meal

By emrm |

We met up with family at the Saffron Grill. It was halfway between where we were and is top-rated in Seattle area. It was a good pick because it was easy to get to (near the highway, but not on it), was open all day, has a huge dining room with plenty of big tables for groups, attentive staff who also didn't bother us when we had to wait a bit from some of our party to arrive, and well lit and not too loud. It's not a chain (or at least didn't seem like it). Huge menu, not all Indian, also Meditteranean (like tabbouleh). We had a bottle on wine, some lassis, and a variety of curries with rice. The curries tend to be hot, so if anything dial it down if you don't like a lot of heat. All in all, a very pleasant meal and reasonably priced for a big group.

Superb!

By The Well-read Naturalist |

I don't give out "Excellent" ratings very often, so when I do, you can be assured that the business in question was worth it. Nearing despair of finding any worthwhile - or even acceptable - places to eat in the Northgate area, I scanned Trip Advisor one last time before deciding my evening's destination and happened upon the Saffron Grill. The reviews were good, the rating relative to the area was high. Fortune favors the bold! It was delightful. Pleasant surroundings, friendly and attentive staff, and an Indian - Lebanese cuisine menu that most surely contained something for most every taste. I chose the vegetable kofta and rice with a starter of pappadums. The latter were crisp and light, served with two chutneys; the former was rich, savory, and delicious from the first bite to the last. Dessert was gulab jamun, a personal favorite, done to perfection. I will most certainly be returning to the Saffron Grill at the earliest opportunity.

Quick get away

Stayed at the hotel behind the restraunt. The service was good. The Turkish Coffee was delicious. You get Very large servings so be careful if what you order. It was all delivered fresh and hot. We were given a complimentary piece of baklava. This was warm AND delicious! The best I have ever had. My kabob of chicken had 5 thighs!!! The chicken was moist and delicious! The curry rub on it was amazing. The rice was good but, I like the flavor of saffron in my rice. But, it was bearly detected. My husband had a mixed plate with offering of cod, chicken beef and lamb and prawns. All were fresh and moist. The lamb was delicate, the sipping sauce with the meals was also wonderful. The chicken my husband had was bbq'd and very tasteful. It is very much worth the time. They have a wonderfully large selection of wine. This would be a great place to go for any type of gathering. I highly recommend this restraunt.

Top Notch on all Counts

By VickiHo |

To say this restaurant has an extensive menu is an understatement, and everything I've tried has been perfection. Lots of vegetarian and some vegan options, along with plenty of meat and seafood-based meals for those who like their animal protein. The waiters are attentive, prices are reasonable, off-street parking is adequate. The owner is almost always present, which probably contributes to the attention to excellence.

Seriously Delicious!!!

By italylover44 |

We decided to try Saffron Grill because we were in the mood for Indian Cuisine. We were stunned at how delicious our meals were. The servicer, Conner was fun and extremely attentive. My husband had the Chicken Tikka and I had the chicken Mango Curry. They were fantastic! I am quite sure we will be back again within the next week. That's how good it was!!!

Horrible customer service

Snobbish owner.. felt unwelcome . We felt that they only like non Indian /Asian guests. They make them sit in different sides of the restaurant.. we walked out .. will never go there

Saffron Grill - Great choice

By BCrunner |

The Saffron Grill combines excellent service, excellent food with a reasonable price. The staff is friendly and works hard to make sure your visit is a happy experience. I am assuming the older gentleman is the owner that is always there, and he works as hard as the employees. Their first priority when you enter the front door is to get you seated promptly and in a a comfortable location. Once you are seated your server is prompt to greet you and make sure any questions you have are answered. Once your order is given any servers or food runners passing by make it their responsibility to ensure your beverages are full and that you have everything you need. The staff truly shows a team effort. The food is fresh and well prepared. Over all I had a great experience to the point that I visited the restaurant multiple time during my stay in Seattle.
