Some of the best sushi I have eaten in my life. And the service was fantastic. It's the kind of sushi restaurant you don't mind blowing your restaurant budget on. The hot rock beef is also fantastic. Definitely recommend.

My wife and I visited this restaurant based on the reviews here and our proximity while visiting a new part of Houston. The food is expensive. The food tastes very good. We had sea bass appetizer (after being told the calamari was discontinued from the menu). It took about 25mins to be delivered. It was delivered hot and tasted very good. We ordered two roles (triple delight and scorpion roll). Both were very good and I ordered the eel dinner which was delicious. The service - while pleasant - was a bit slow. We have been in the restaurant about 60mins as I'm writing this and they haven't filled my water glass. 25 mins for appetizer seemed quite long, although food arrived relatively quickly. My wife just ordered the tempura ice cream... so, let's see. Expecting a bill approx 90-100 pre-tip... so a bit pricey. Special occasions only I think.

Yes, by heart I can say so! This Omakase meal was fantastic and with it a super waiter (sorry, can´t remember your name!) :-) I´ve eaten many-many sushi meals in my life (not in Japan though...), and the varieties and tasteful plates we had at Sage 400 was close to "orgasmic"! THX

I love creative sushi rolls with lots of filling and having tried numerous places around the world Sage 400 is near the top of my list!

Business dinner with me a late arrival. Attentive service in a very busy restaurant. Quality of ingredients very high, particularly enjoyed the unagi. Many offerings in the creative/heavily sauced category good for those who don't eat much sushi.

This restaurant portrays itself as an upscale sushi restaurant. However, I found the food average at best.

Have been to this restaurant a couple of times during recent trips and fine it provides excellent, well priced, Japanese dishes. Would highly recommend this restaurant for exquisite flavours.

Good atmosphere - had a business luncheon, had the waiter choose some sushi specialties for us -- he did a good job. The sushi was good and the service was excellent.

I visited 2days ago with my boyfriend. Atmosphere and the staffs were great and foods were so delicious and marvelous. We were so happy to have wonderful time and want to go there again. とても美味しくて雰囲気最高、店員さんも愛想良く素敵なお店です。是非また行きたいです。すごい良かった!

Very good service and attention, the dishes were super fresh and well prepared. We even found the service very fast, we barely ordered something and it immediately arrived because they prepared it at the bar instantly. I didn't expect the gelatin dessert and it is delicious.

We had the most delicious meal here. Everything we had was fresh and better then expected. The wait staff was super friendly as well. This is a great place to go!!

When I checked into our hotel, I spied this place. FINALLY, I got the opportunity to go. I actually didn't end up getting sushi, but the sea bass instead. It was a speciality and it was AMAZING! Great service

Wow, can’t believe we missed this place in our last stay in Houston. Great place to park up across from the chefs (artists) watching them make their creations. The food is exceptional. Japanese with a little Texan twist if you choose. Great service and the chefs are happy to answer any questions about the fabulous food they are putting up in front of you. Also have more private tables if you choose. A must do in the galleria area of Houston if you love Japanese food or just want to give it a try.

Well, that pretty well covers it ... good Japanese atmosphere, has several serving areas, including a bar zone, good use of timber bamboo as a divider. We sat at the Sushi Bar, came in around 8:30pm, 4 chefs at work, 2 Asian, 1 Hispanic and 1 USA... (I know, but we are old school and really prefer to see some solid Japanese Sushi chefs at work!) Never saw the Chef/Owner at all - Menu heavy on very high end special rolls. These are not really trad sushi, they are really for folks who do not really like raw fish, I am convinced. Service was quick and pleasant, waiter suggested a good Sake. Got a 750 ml bottle, Gekkeikan Black & Gold - better buy! Sushi was fine, well prepared and fresh, my geiger counter did not go off... (;-D - One does wonder these days. A good experience, but the tab was almost $200 with tip, a tad bit high for a sushi bar... might go back, but still prefer Teppay for the real thing at a better price.

Food is very lovely to both the eye and the palate! Waiter was a gem and made us feel very welcome. We had a rather large table without reservations and we weren't even dressed properly, but they took care of us, and we very much enjoyed ourselves! Carpaccios are to die for!

The food is amazing, the fish is fresh and tasty. Excellent service, sushi 🍣 sashimi, fantastic. Located in a nice n safe area close to the Galleria

Nice sushi place, good selection, great service. Just a little pricey, but fresh and well done. Good location near Galleria.

Went for dinner tonight and ordered the scallop roll and the volcano roll. The scallop roll was very spicy even though it was not mentioned on the menu. The volcano roll was swimming in mayo and oil. There was so much mayo and oil that we left 3/4 of the dish.

I haven’t posted in a while. However, I visited an old haunt of mine, Sage 400. I first visited this excellent restaurant 16 years ago and it hasn’t lost a step. Freshest of fish, great sauces, great atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. You can’t ask for better.

I really enjoy the Sushi here, it is a small restaurant but the food quality and service is always very good

Very creative restaurant. One roll (Sunrise/Sunset) was wrapped in a paper-thin slice of cucumber. The waiter recommended Totoro roll, not on the menu. Absolutely wonderful. The tuna nigiri might have been the best I have had. Excellent service. Not a surprise that the restaurant was full on a Wednesday night. Expensive but worth it.

Great choice close to our lodging near the Galleria. James at the front desk told us that this was one of his favorite restaurants and he lived in the area. The Tofu Taki was so delicious we almost ordered it again for dinner but definitely glad we did not do that! The reason was the Chilean Sea Bass with Miso Sauce was the best I have ever tasted which says a lot since it is one of my favorite fish. One person at the table decided to be different and had the Salmon and although I wouldn’t trade in my Sea Bass I would not hesitate choosing the Salmon if Bass wasn’t available. Rachel was a great compliment to a fantastic dinner with her impeccable service.

With a recommendation from the hotel across from the restaurant, I decided to give a shot during my visit to Houston. The hostess seated me at the bar even though I particularly asked for a table in the restaurant side which is quite and has comfortable seating. I already drove about 6 hours and wanted to be seated comfortable. The hostess stated the she couldn't seat me at tables and booths, since I was by myself. I thought I heard it wrong. Asked again, same answer. I just got up and left. Went back to hotel and end up having dinner there. Very disappointing. I don't care if they have best Japanese food in the world, their customer service was bad. There again, you work hard to create a good image then this uncaring employee comes and ruins it.

What a huge disappointment. Service was probably the worst I have received at sushi bar. Huge attitude, especially if you do not order a $20 roll. Slow service, bad attitude and overpriced for what you get. Portions are not worth the price. Plenty of much better sushi in Houston. Never go back.

This is a smaller restaurant located near the galleria mall. I've gone here several times during my visits to houston and have not been disappointed. The menus isn't overly extensive though.

After a long morning at the HMNS, we stopped here for lunch. I had the sushi lunch menu with the salad, and my mum the shrimp katsu bento box with miso soup. Both were really good! The sushi is prepared on the spot, while the shrimp had a lovely, light batter - definitely not greasy or heavy. All in all one to recommend!

I was staying at a hotel right behind this place so it was an easy choice. The food was good. Priced for the area, not for the quality. I sat at the sushi bar but the chefs do not interact with you. Overall it was good and I would recommend it to people visiting the Galleria area.

This is one of the best places for Sushi, easy to get to, comfortable, relaxed - even if you on your own - but above all great sushi. Moderate price. Great service.

Lovely spot for Sushi close to the Houston Galleria. The sushi is excellent and the various rolls and appetisers are super. The seaweed salad and (especially) the crawfish appetisers are fantastic. Will definitely be back soon.

Outstanding service, excellent food all the way... from Sumonomo salad to escolar fish sushi and rolls, including Sake, Japanese beers and Japanese whiskey. Very good service (ate at sushi bar).

I went with friends so we order many dished to share. I recommend Miso chilean sea bass, soft with good smell and cooked at perfect time. The salmon sashimi is also very fresh, soft and smooth. Last recommended menu is seared scallop, it’s cooked perfectly. The scallop is fresh and juicy, served with baby cabbages.

I ate here recently on a business trip to Houston. The sushi was really good, the service was great. It was expensive - $60 for one person with no alcohol.

I was recently in Houston on business, and was the guest of a business acquaintance. He had eaten at this restaurant before, and highly recommended it. I am from Portland, OR, and so I am always a bit taken aback when someone takes me to a glorified strip mall and tells me there is a superb restaurant in it. But that is Houston. There are excellent restaurants to be found in what seems like odd locations to a non-Texan. The ambiance is superb for couples or business dinners. The booths are private but look out towards the sushi bar and the chefs preparing the orders. My companion suggested we leave it up to the chef to concoct our dinner. All that we had to do was answer a few questions (sushi or sashimi? Sashimi. Tossed salad or seaweed salad? Seaweed). While waiting to see what the chef would create, we ordered some unfiltered sake and edamame. The edamame was very good and just the right amount of salt. The sake tasted different than any other sake I have had before, but it tasted real and full-bodied, and I don't think that I can ever drink the supermarket sake ever again. The plates that we were served consisted of various rolls and sashimi. We were both surprised at the amount of food; it was about three times what we had expected. All of it was excellent, some unusual that I had never had before, and artfully prepared. We were both so full that we could barely finish the last few pieces of sashimi, which is not a an experience I have ever had before at a sushi bar. It was an excellent meal in a great ambiance and a fair price for what we had. The bill before tip came to about $135 for two, but we ate an enormous amount of sashimi, had some excellent sake, and a thouroughly wonderful time!

The menu is reasonably diverse. The recipes are creative and they have a nice presentation of the food. However, unfortunately the flavors were bland. The sashimi looked very fresh but somehow was near flavorless. And, this isn't an inexpensive restaurant.

Almost everything about Sage 400 is appealing. When we go, we leave it up to our favorite waiter to select whatever is fresh and tasty - and he rarely disappoints. First, a sashimi course with the most luscious salmon and yellowfin tuna. Then a sushi course, and then a selection of rolls. Lastly, their grilled Chilean sea bass ... among the most tender, flakiest and tastiest I've ever had. The lemon drop martinis are excellent, as well.

Stopped in here tonight for dinner. We were staying at a hotel near the restaurant so we thought we go give it a shot. There were four of us and when we walked in there was a table ready immediately. This place is extremely modern and cool. The server greeted quickly for drinks and appetizers. Most of us at the table ordered sushi tonight. They had a large selection of different types of sushi rolls and sushi. If you are looking to order an entrée off of their menu and the prices appear to be a little bit high and the selection was somewhat limited. The food we had however was outstanding and possibly could command the higher prices on the menu. If you're in the Galleria area I would highly recommend stopping in here for some sushi. The cuts were great the sushi was good and the service was outstanding.

Went here with friends from work this past week. Had the sushi special of the day, and it was very good.

There are plenty of Japanese restaurants out there but the trick is finding a good one. Sage 400 is definitely one of those good ones. They are located in the Galleria area but not inside the mall. There is parking right outside but it is usually full. The decor of Sage 400 is very warm and inviting. The bar area is just the right size and so is the dining area. You can sit at the sushi bar, tables, or booths. There is also a medium sized semi-private dining area for larger groups. I have eaten here twice and I really like the atmosphere. It is lively with a younger crowd but it is not pretentious in any way. We ordered the Hamachi Carpaccio, Soft Shell Crab Tempura, Raw Kobe Beef Roll with Shrimp, Unaju, and the Pork Belly special as suggested by the owner. Every dish was very well prepared. All the ingredients were fresh. I particularly liked the Pork Belly and the Raw Kobe Beef Roll with Shrimp was something different. There were other items on the menu that I will be sure to try next time includes: Sunomono Salad, Hot Rock Beef, Baked Scallops in Shell, Nabeyaki Udon, and Shiso Hasami Age. Overall, Sage 400 is a very good Galleria area Japanese Restaurant with an owner and chef that is very mindful about the quality of the food that is served. As long as this quality is maintained, the higher prices are justified.

The sushi rolls are great , the service is good, they have a complete menu and the martinis are good

Second time at this place and still everything is great. Love the food and the service and only wish it were a little cheaper so i could have many meals here. Some of the rolls are really that great!!

This is a good spot equal or better than average to other options in the area. Good fresh food and the staff tried although they could ahve been better.

I very much enjoyed the Sushi here. Ambiance was great and service was friendly. Food served has aesthetic appeal as well. Overall a good tryout. With beer and main course including Sushi it costed me around 50USD for 1 person.

I popped in here today and it was very nice. Very relaxing and they had a great lunch menu. I got the Bento box just to change things up. It was a very large lunch, very healthy and it was $13

My visits to Houston often land me in a hotel next block and every time I pass by Sage 400. Sitting at the sushi bar, quick service, very nice sushis, fine tempura, I would definitely recommend.

Stopped in and was impressed with atmosphere. That is all the impressing you will get. Food was subpar. I've eaten low budget sushi buffets that were better. The big issue was customer service, or, lack of customer service. A few of us were together going dutch. We asked up front for seperate checks. Server said she couldn't do that. Later in the meal, we ordered another dish. 15 minutes later we were told it was unavailable. We ordered another dish a bit more expensive. We asked to get it for the same price due to the earlier 15 minute delay. Again, no can do. Asked for management to discuss and 10 minutes later we told our story. We weren't looking for a free comped meal as the company is paying. We just wanted the management to be aware of the situation and possibly do some in store training and empower their employees like fine hotels and restaurants do. Well, in one ear and out the other. The manager didnt sem to care.

We had the server help us choose our dishes. He did great and we enjoyed every bite. The food was spectacular. Sooo good, reasonable and the service was xcellent.

We weren't sure because it was across from the hotel and in the parking lot of a shopping center, but it was great! From service to atmosphere to food. It was really a good experience. The rolls were amazing.

I came here for a date and we sat at the bar. Very nice cute but casual spot. The sushi was great and the bartender was nice and helpful with menu selections. I would definitely go here again.

Having to travel to Houston a lot lately, and staying in the Galleria area, it's been a lot of sushi. This last week I decided to go fish only, and as Sage 400 had 4 new rolls on the menu, and I had 5 days to spare, that's what I did. It seems that Sage 400 is getting more crowded by the day, but they still manage to keep the service a the right level, as well as their smiling faces. To top it all off, I challenged the cooks to surprise me. And, yes, they did indeed cement the fact that they are among the more inventive Japanese kitchens around. I got what I'll call the "butterfly roll" for "dinner (a speciality by Joe), and for "dessert" I got sushi rolls with strawberry included in the roll for the first time (engineering and served by Andrew), and something by Joe that I guess you'll only find at a El Bulli or MOMA type restaurant. The best Japanese meal I've had over the past couple of years. The chefs, overseen by Kubo, are first class. Enough so, to upgrade my rating.

We really enjoyed our dinner. The specials were interesting and it was a first to have foie gras sushi. We also tried the white lotus roll. Very good. Plus the very moorish tempura gobo Japanese french fries. Great service and ambiance.

I usually stay at the Courtyard right behind Sage. It's nice to have such a good restaurant choice within walking distance. I've been several times recently due to travel in the area and I like to sit at the bar. Meghan is the bartender/server and has been cheery and welcoming each time. It's a little pricey but I'm spoiled by living in the Northeast where fish is inexpensive comparatively. Will definitely continue to frequent this place when in the area. I highly recommend the sashimi!

Had a great dinner here. Sushi was huge and very fresh. Would recommend. Had a large group of 12 and service was spot on and timely.

service is nice, staff is friendly. food is very tasty. Tempura are must to try. I am not a big fan of sushi yet i enjoyed it there.

High quality sushi! They have a good variety of dishes. Good atmosphere as well. However quite high prices.

With Joe gone (The Fish), Christine out for a little while following jet-ski accident, and me having had all items on their menu multiple times, could Sage400 keep me coming back and coming back. Well, yes, and them some... This time around, I have been having the staff's special rolls (no, they are not on the menu), and it has been an exhilirating experience. Add to that, that the Chef's Special Ngiri and/or Sashimi, is as innovative as ever (order it once a month, and it will always be a new and exciting experience), the staff as friendly and attentive as can be (whether you're at the sushi bar, with Rocco/Tara at the bar bar, or anywhere on the floor, you'll be met by smiles all around, you have a winner. Welcome back. And back.

We absolutely loved Sage 400. The service is very kind and helpful. The quality of the fish was outstanding. Fresh and beautiful looking, something extremely important when eating sushi. We enjoyed the variety of dishes since they have everything from really traditional sushi plates to trendy creations. They have Japanese beers which was a nice touch. This place is great for a family dinner or a casual date. Make sure to ask for a table in the back since it can be too cold in winter time near the door.

The place is gorgeous with an excellent service. It has amazing Japanese beers on tap. The appetizers & rolls that my wife & i ordered were outstanding. We will definitely be back soon

I have never been a big fan of Sage 400, preferring other sushi locations in Houston which are better value or just better in my opinion, but Sage 400 provides a decent sushi experience with nice service. If you are in the Galleria area, hit it, but otherwise head for Kata Robata or Uptown Sushi or any of the other hot sushi spots in Houston.

This is one of the best Sushi places in Houston. I have been to many of the great ones and this is equal to any. Among my favorites are the Chilean Sea Bass....probably the best Ive ever had.. and the SP roll was fantastic. They have a fantastic varied menu with alot ofcombinations. It is located in The Galleria area so if you are shopping there this a convenient plac to stop and have a great meal. The service was excellent.

My husband and I were on a business trip with no kids, so we decided to give this place a try. We had no reservations, but was seated immediately. The restaurant is beautiful and has a great bar area too. It was nice to see a family with little children enjoying themselves. The sushi we both had were phenomenal. Service excellent.

This tucked away restaurant is a real find. Close by to the Galleria shopping mall, this restaurant serves better than average sushi at a reasonable price. Stop by for lunch specials. You will enjoy!

The food is fantastic and easily some of the very best sushi in Hosuton. Great atmoshpere, great service, and don't forget to ask the server for the items NOT on the menu. Award winning Chilean Sea Bass is the very best I have ever had, and if you like a great, fresh roll with a little "kick", ask for the Dana Roll - yum! Don't hesitate to go alone and sit at the bar. Great service, great people, and you will never meet a stranger!

I went with a few friends to grab lunch and to be honest it was amazing food. Sadly on the service side it took about 30 minutes to receive our sushi. You would think un-cooked fish would be a little faster to prepare... Prices are a bit high as well so be ready to open your wallet. yet all in all I enjoyed everything.

Love this spot because it's not in the mall and has decent parking available. Been for both lunch and dinner and have not been disappointed. Great rolls and the sea bass appetizer is a must. Very nice atmosphere and good service, overall very good experiences on every visit.

The waitress was efficient and nice. The food was excellent and fresh. My udon noodles in soup was over cooked a bit but the broth was super tasty. Prices are on the higher side compared to some places around the area but if you can afford this place it not to be missed.

We held a 30 people bday party with split checks and they delivered every order flawlessly including the checks! Everyone was very pleased with the delicious sushi and service. It's a pity that they don't usually accommodate large parties because they did a SUPERB job with us!!! Thank you 400 Sage!!!

Sage 400 came in a few years ago along with the influx of sushi restaurants, but they have managed to stand-out by offering good service and very fresh sushi. My favorite is the Triple Delight Roll...very unique and fresh! They are a great alternative to the other Galleria sushi restaurants that are more of a "scene". I go here every couple of months with clients and will continue to do so!

Fantastic service coupled with food makes for an excellent experience ! Owner operated assures the best of everything!

The hot rock beef is a lot of fun. The spicy edamame is also delicious. My wife has seafood allergies and they are always careful to avoid cross contamination - even on sushi.

Friday night dinner. They were busy so we opted to sit at the sushi bar. Amy was our waitress and she was excellent. We ordered three rolls and sushi was all very good. Classy place, too. I would definitely return. Very close to the Homewood Suites and Courtyard hotels.

Friend of mine suggested the place when i asked for japanese dinner. it was indeed japanese and all the food items we've ordered were tasty. The service was a tiny bit slow, but it was very busy. The price is quite high, but it's a good place to impress=)

My friend and I sat at the bar. We were immediately greeted by a handshake and asked for our names by Sara. She recommended a tasteful white wine from New Zealand. For an appetizer we had spicy edamame. Since we were drinking white wine, she recommended the Sea Bass Entrée. We also enjoyed two sushi rolls. The food arrived in a timely manner; its presentation was very classy, and extremely delicious. Sara was enjoyable to visit with and gave great customer service. We have been in the restaurant industry for years and rate this restaurant excellent for service and food. I will return to this restaurant.

The sushi here is way better than Uptown 🍥 sushi. Get the California roll and the beef tatackie... The fried rice is also good too ... Has lots of flavor and don't forget ur fried ice cream

Ate here during Houston Restaurant Weeks. Had the Seaweed Sunomono Salad, Triple Delight sushi rolled in cucumber, Seabass lettuce wrap, Seared Scallops with wasabi mashed potatoes, and the Almond Jello for desert. Food was all very tasty, fresh, well prepared and looked great on the plate. Our waiter named Van I think it was, was awesome and knew alot about the foods on the menu and answered many questions. Portion size was adequate but not great, but thats what you get at a upscale Japanese place. The seaweed salad and the triple delight roll were the highlights. No beers on tap, bottles only guys. 4 stars. Recommended.

Great sushi and sake. try some of the chef's specialties and be adventurous. Never been disappointed!

Its quick and right behind the Galleria... The best option for the area... Most locals hang out here... Usually busy Fridays and Sat nights.... Average age is 45. Average ticket without drinks 35.00

I had two different rolls, the wasabi infused tobiko are amazing!!! My husband had the sea bass which melted in your mouth. The service was good and the restaurant was very clean, with a pleasant vibe. Will defiantly eat here again.

Probably the best salmon sushi I have ever had, super fresh. The food was good but also quite expensive

This is a gorgeous location. With extremely good sushi. Perfect sushi rice, great sashimi cuts, perfect nigiris. Ordered the chefs specials for lunch and it was splendid. It is a MUST TRY. And ambiance is spectacular. The most beautiful sushi place I went during my visit to Houston.

The resturant is tucked back off the road, go there if you get a chance. The sushi was fresh, the presentation beautiful, and the staff very friendly. I could have eaten there every day I was in Houston.

This was my first visit in this restaurant and I must say I left with a positive feeling. Maybe selection of fish a little bit limited, but all sushi and sashimi was fresh and served very professionally. Ask the chef for off the menu rolls - very good!

We came in very late, they were almost closing and they received us with very good service, they served us delicious sushi. The waiter recommended 5 rolls and they were excellent. I highlighted recommend this place.

Had 2 dinners here on 2 successive nights. Fresh sushi, quick service and plenty of elbow room. Would highly recommend the sea eel and avocado roll.

After a couple of weeks with BBQ steaks, burgers, sandwiches etc it was a treat to find Sage 400. Finally i could walk instead of rolling back to my hotel. We sat in front of the chefs, and had a good show watching them make the various dishes, fast but with precision. The food was presented very well and all the dishes tasted really good. All the extras added another dimension of taste. Service is fast and friendly even with a full house, price isn't bad either.

We have had dinner at this place at least twice a month for the last 7 years... Have tried many other new Japanese/Sushi spots, they are all fine, but when it comes to the food, the flavor, none come even close! Only places other places in Tokyo and San Francisco have comparable quality...

$18 for 3 pcs blue-fin sashimi. A bit much in my opinion. The spicy roll was good. Service was fast and efficient.

Brilliant menu and great quality sushi. We asked for the house speciality and the recommendations were excellent choices. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and qreat quality. Will definately eat here again.

Fantastic menu selection and we really enjoyed the non-rice rolls. The sushi quality was great. The wine selection was really good, they had high end selections as well as approachable prices for white wines.

It's not the greatest sushi but better than most i like blue fish on Washington better and they are about the same price

My reviews rarely if ever give five stars, but Sage really deserves it. Had an incredible Sunday evening meal, starting with the yellowtail carpaccio, fantastic and delicate. I highly recommend the Sage and Pheonix rolls, but can't say which one was better! Who knew that so many flavours went together so well including slices of jalapeño peppers? It's line The Rising Sun meets The Lone Star. I am definitely going back and recommend it very highly.

If you love sushi and the best service ever, please go to Sage400. Traveling as much as I do, I really appreciate great food. This restaurant did not disappoint. The sushi was out of this world as was their Chilean Sea Bass. I highly recommend this incredible restaurant!

Food was very good. Service was off at lunch. It was after 2:00 so we were 1 of 2 tables with people eating. The waitress did refill our drinks but would then disappear for 15 to 20 min. Maybe, she was doing prep for dinner service. However, I had to get another person to find her to pay the check. Again, food was good. Maybe eating after 2:00 just leads to staff changes and slow service

Entrees were all delicious - especially the sea bass. The staff were nice and courteous. A great place for sushi. No complaints

Three of my colleagues joined me for dinner here after work. Beers, sake, appetizers, entrees were all delicious. The wait staff was very good. A great place for sushi and Japanese meals.

While more expensive than I expected, everything was quite good and the service was excellent. The dragon roll in particular was very good. I would order that again (and again...)

Try the 400 Salad. It's good. Also the chicken salad is mighty meaty and has a great salad. Very popular with business folk at lunchtime, although we didn't have to book. It also gets busy at night - probably best to book.

I like Sushi, and they have a good selection of specialty rolls, which is entertaining. That's just it. I go back because it's around the corner from my usual hotel..

We started with the calamari as an appetizer. Great choice! They fry the tentacles instead of the rings, so it's a different experience. Very crispy and delicious. We got 5 rolls to share. Each was excellent. I'd highly recommend the New Age Dynamite, if you like cream cheese stuffed jalapeños. The TexMex roll was also outstanding. No need for reservations, if you want to sit at the sushi bar. We enjoyed watching the process and chatting with Man.

There it is, a Sushi bar and Japanese restaurant just across the Hyatt with a vast variety of seafood, some meat and few vegetarian options. Anything tried on two consecutive visits (and that wasn’t little) was of best quality and treatment. The only reason I decided to not go again was the mediocre service received and observed and that 7.50 for a draft Sapporo is just that $ to much. 80 per dinner for one is just not worth staring at the Sushi bar and being served on the run of noisy staff to their corner...

Absolutely amazing. Great service, great atmosphere, great food! Everything was wonderful and beautifully plated. Amazing taste. I am a vegetarian and their signature vegetarian roll and truffle fried rice were to die for!

Good Sushi and Service. Ended there by chance and were positively surprised. A little crowded on weekends, reservations recommended. Kitchen closes at 9.45.

A quick stop with friends for sushi rolls. Sushi fresh and well-prepared. Great green tea ice cream for desert. Wine list has high mark-up. Service could be friendlier.

They got a nice cozy place, nice service but there was nothing special about the food. Preety generic.

Some of the best sushi I've ever had, Sage 400 rivals some of the top sushi restaurants I've ever been to. Highly recommend the yellowfin, as well as the Roxy Roll. Excellent specially rolls and unique flavours. The traditional dish of beef tataki was splashed with a sweet honey flavour. Just superb.

Visited Sage Sushi as we call it on a Sunday for a late lunch with the family. Restaurant was a little quiet because it was an odd time of about 3pm, but the food and service was great. We had the nicest waitress who kept us all happy- and the 6 of us can be pretty hard to please. Would definitely go back and recommend to others. I know more normal hours there have a good vibe running through the place. That said it was nice to have the place mostly to ourselves so we wouldn't be embarrassed about how loud we laugh and get when together.

If I have a choice Japanese always ranks highly. Sushi and sashimi are my natural choices. This establishment has a wonderful selection of Sushi all of which is of high quality. I have eaten in many Japanese restaurants around Houston and this one ranks highly.

Was not crowded on Saturday night. Easy parking. Sushi was good. recommend the Yellow tail and the snapper. The have good Sake. Order it extra hot. Price is reasonable. 2 people, drinks, Sake, $160

Looking at other reviews, I was not sure if this was the right restaurant for me tonight. I love Japanese food and thought I would give this a try. Everything was perfect. The service, the quality of the food, and the presentation. One of the best Japanese restaurants I have been to. I was there with a friend, but the ambience would be particularly nice for a romantic evening.

Very nice Sushi! Not only the typical cold Sushi, but also very good warm Sushi rolls. Seems to be Sushi place for the whole family.

We found this gem by accident and are so glad we did. Chilean Sea Bass Lettuce Cups were a delightful mouthful, as were several of the sushi rolls we ordered. Honey wasabi sauce served with the New Age Dynamite was a treat. Our affable, playful, knowledgeable server Bethany didn't steer us wrong once. Fresh, creative, flavorful bites coming together for a satisfying dinner out. Decor is sleek, stunning, yet playful. All elements were in harmony.

Awesome sushi and great ambiance. The sushi style Foie Gras is unbelievable and definitely unexpected. Definitely plan to eat here if you're in the galleria area.

Very fresh and interesting sushi. A little noisy and the portions are not huge, but nice atmosphere and delicious food!

Plenty of great choices. Not the usual Japanese fare. I enjoyed the variety of offerings - classic dishes with a twist. I'll be back!

Fantastic location south of Hyatt Regency Houston/Galleria. Food was fresh and presentation was wonderful. This restaurant comes highly recommended by me and friends who dine here regularly.

From start to finish, this place impressed on all levels. Great service and atmosphere and even better food. Started with an appetizer of Chilean sea bass and the meal only got better from there. Terrific sushi, very fresh and cut and presented perfectly. Will come back if in Houston again!!

Good upscale sushi restaurant. My veggie tempura and roll were yummy. I wasn't a fan on the panko on the roll. It made it messy to eat. Calamari was very tender. Great service. I would return.

Me and my girlfriends try to go here once a month. Best sushi in Houston and great staff as well...do not miss the monk roll...divine!

Have had multiple takeouts from this joint over the past couple of months, as well as a few sit-ins, and thought I should finally tell the world about it. Hidden away in a parking lot, but friendly and wonderful staff, and speciality rolls that are among the best and most inventive I have ever tasted anywhere. I have many favorites, but would recommend their S P Roll and White Lotus Roll, to get the "range" of tastes they offer on their menu. Highly recommended, try it!

Hands down this restaurant has the best sushi in town! It has a great bar with amazing drinks (the leeches martini is my favorite) and friendly staff. It's a great place to go even by oneself. If you choose to eat at the bar you will find how friendly people are here.

Always good food, friendly vibe, helpful staff, and great location. Offerings seem really fresh and creative. Been 4 times now and really, have absolutely no complaints. If anything, I'm shocked it's not rated higher.

Food, service and location are wonderful. Attentive service and always amazing food. Ownership on site which shows they care about the quality and reputation.

High quality sushi with a high price tag (relatively speaking). The specialty rolls are tasty, perhaps a bit more creative than some other places. The location is ideal- right next to the galleria but not IN the galleria (across the street from Embassy Suites). It's a staple whenever we are staying at the hotel, but I definitely check out other eateries around town.

Stumbled on this place by accident at lunchtime, and will happily return. The sushi was probably the best I have had in Houston, delicious tuna and great crunchy tuna and soft shell crab rolls. Good service and reasonable pricing. Recommended.

This was our first time at this establishment. It was clean and the decor was modern. The sushi was fresh and the staff was able to cater to my gluten free needs. Please make sure to specify what you can and cannot have if you are celiac.

Great food, we ordered sashimi, edamame hummus and 2 kinds of rolls...everything was excellent, though I have to say it is a very noisy place. The only thing that we didnt really liked was that the waiter asked us to increase his tip...that was not nice. In spite of that, I would go back....

Food was delicious and great service. Definitely will be back if I'm in the area again. Within walking distance from our hotel but we noticed there were a lot of regulars that were dining as well.

Friendly and helpful wait staff, nice portion size and excellent flavor for the food. Beautifully presented!

The unaju is delicious and so the chirashi sushi! Highly recommended ! The Tuna salad is good too.. well, this is is a very good Japanese to go To!

Located very close to the Galleria shopping Center and across from our hotel we were all very happy with our choice of Japanese after a long workday. Friendly service followed by very good quality sashimi - extremely fresh and great value for money

I was in Houston for business and didn't feel like driving to dinner, so found this place -- Japanese cuisine sounded amazing after a few nights of TexMex -- and it was within walking distance from my hotel. It was packed on a Wednesday night - even the bar was very busy. My colleagues and I were seated promptly and our waitress (I can't remember her name) was friendly, funny and was very knowledgable about the menu. My first reaction was sushi because the fish at the bar looked fresh and incredible, but our waitress recommended the sea bass which was the BEST I've ever had. Great selection of saki's as well. Don't be put off that it's in a strip mall - you won't regret it.

Sage 400 is absolutely fantastic! We have been there several times and have never been disappointed! We had a selection of items and every dish was excellent. Sage 400 is highly recommended! Service was excellent!

Great sushi, great seaweed salad that is not on the menu, not the most attentive of staff, but pretty good.

Fresh and tasty sushi. Small but friendly room. Nice atmosphere. Good service. My favorite sushi bar in town!

Tucked back off the main street in a strip mall, this eatery won’t win awards for ambience, but it’s no dive either. It has a lively vibe and a somewhat dated feel. It’s nothing upscale and based on the prices, I would have expected more ambiance. But when it came to the food, it was definitely a home run, especially the Sea Bass....to die for. The service was helpful but is bit slow the night I was there. So overall I would give the ambience and service a 3 and the food a 5....hence my 4 rating.

I visited this place late August 2013, as it was just by the side of my hotel (Marriott Courtyard). I chose the menu (about 35 dollars) and from the menu I chose mainly the sushi/sashimi items, with the fied cheesecake as desert. The sushi sushimi dishes were excellent (I never knew there was something like 'super white tuna', with almost a sweet taste). Although the fried cheesecake was interesting and not too sweet, it was a bit too much for me. The cooks are right in front of you and very friendly, the waiting staff was professional and quick. I can recommendend this place, I hope I have another chance the visit the place in the coming week. The place was packed, which was not a problem for me, as they had space at the bar for people like me, but with a group you probably be wise to make a reservation.

What a great restaurant and menu offerings. I was pleasantly surprised and went to Sage 400 for a birthday lunch and loved it. It is not all sushi and many other menu selection if you are not a sushi fan.

I have been working in Houston for the last 6 months and I have not found a better place for sushi. They have a great flavorful variety as well as great tasting sushi classics. They also have a HOT ROCK on their menu where you cook your beef on the top of a preheated lava rock. This is the only place in Houston that offers a hot rock. The service leaves something to be desired but I do not put much weight on the service because when I go to a restaurant I go for the food.

Great sushi and sashimi, the mahi tuna is fantastic as well as all the special roles. We stayed at the ambassador hotel nearby. As there is not a lot of choice around, I can easily call Sage 400 the best restaurant nearby. This restaurant has atmosphere and we have been there twice within one week. Price wise it is also rather at the higher end. A clear recommendation if you enjoy Japanese kitchen. We had the same waiter both days. Although a few days have been in between, he still recognised us and gave us a nice table again. We felt treated really well.

The food here its amazing, quality and price you get a good deal. The owner is always there and the service is good. Try all the menu everything is amazing.

My wife and I had the sea bass lettuce wraps, which were one of the best things I’ve put in my mouth, and then we ordered the sage roll and another roll that I can’t remember the name. They were both wonderful. It seems that one can find good sushi in Houston.

My husband and I each tried the sushi and it was absolutely amazing! We actually went 2 nights of our 3 in Houston there because it was so good. My husband ordered the Wasabi salmon the 1st night.. flavor explosion and very inventive. Highly recommend!

This Japanese restaurant has a high quality food standard, and a great ambience! Including a great service by every waiter. And the bar is a very nice place to hang out! Try the spicy edamame and the the truffle rice. The sea bass also is delicious .

Went for a light dinner to cope with my jet lag. Could sit at the bar, but I was going to drink just water. Could sit at the sushi bar, but that would be depressing all on my own. So, I opted for a table. Low light. Oscars on TV. Hamachi Carpacio arrived. Great knife work, six delicate slices, green peppers, cilantro, dab of light soy, neatly plated. Vanished in a jiffy. Miso soup, nice and even, seaweed slices, bits of tofu. Soothes your mood. Shrimp Sensai was my entrée. With a side of rice. Though not bad, it didn't work for me. Shrimps were a tad overdone, the sauce a bit too sweet for me, and the crumb fried mashed potato low in salt and not integral to the dish. I will come back, though, for the sea bass that people rave about.

The Sea Bass was to DIE for. The tastiest freshest flavorful and very moist. Also chefs special rolls are imaginative and fresh. Can’t wait to return👍❤️😘

For all the sushi places in Houston this place has some specialized dishes... Not everything is great on the menu but there are few things that are most people come here for at happy hour to sit at the bar.

Stopped by for a late night meal around 9:30pm after flying inTo town for work. They were kind enough to still seat me (their kitchen closes at 10pm) at the counter. I asked for omakase or whatever the chef wants to give me at around $75 level. Sushi / sashimi was fairly good but they just rung me up a la carte to get to that level, not much thought behind their creativity. They served me the hamachi carpaccio, tuna and salmon sashimi and 2 of each of albacore, akiushi (flash flamed beef carpaccio), and japanese snapper. Quality is pretty descent and food is good - in my opinion, it's also priced accordingly. For sushi connoisseurs, it's probably not the best sushi you'll have but tasty and priced well enough (and a cool atmosphere) to keep coming back.

Great evening. Great sushi, great service. Miso sea bass, albacore carpaccio, and yellowtail carpaccio appetizers were wonderful. Would definitely come back.

I am currently in Houston on business and Sage 400 is very close to my hotel, i love Sushi and all Japanese food. I eat here probably 4 times a week either for lunch or dinner. The sushi is amazing and so are the salads! Not bored yet and still got 3 weeks to go!

Went here on business and am so happy that this was the place for dinner. Service was excellent, drinks were excellent and food was AMAZING! The place was nicely designed with softer lighting, comfortable seating for parties of all sizes. This is a must visit…again and again!!!!

Yesterday was about the fifth time I have gone to this place. The food is always excellent prepared and delicious, but I must say that the service is terrible. The first time I went, I was presented the check a total of four times and I had not asked for it once. My friend and I was continously ordering coctails and tried out various desserts. Maybe the waitress was eager to end her shift? Yesterday, me and my party asked for separate checks as we will claim money return from our company. We were told that they did not do split checks, and left it up to each one of us to take out of the bill what was ours and calculate tax on top of that. Basically leaving us with the problem instead of providing us with the solution - a number with tax for us to add tip to. It was a sorry ending for a great meal. Sorry to say, I have heard of similar episodes of rude staff behaviour at this place from other colleagues. Regretfully, I will not bother returning to this place even though the food is great.

Had a business lunch there and it was great. We took the special of the day which offers sushis, sashimi, and fresh salmon. The taste was great and the price ok. I recommend.

The quality of the sushi at Sage 400 is exceptional. I sat at the sushi bar and was delighted to see how very fresh the fish was and the care taken to ensure it stayed that way. Both my server and the sushi chef were very nice and courteous. Besides the price of my solo meal (typically my cost for two persons), everything was great. I started with a seaweed salad then ordered a fancy kitchen roll and two orders of sashimi. The fish was melt in your mouth tender and very well presented. This place definitely ranks as one of the best sushi places I've eaten at.

The Avocado Miso Soup is fantastic. I have never heard of it until now, but will look for it again. Service was great, and the Sushi was too. Don't hesitate to try Sage if your interest is Japanese or Sushi.

Not the least expensive place but perfect sushi and atmosphere. Great business dinner place. Recommend.

My favourite Miso Chillean Seabass is still cooked perfectly. Tofu is also good. I will definitely come back if I come to Houston again.

I've been here several times as I'm in Houston on business and don't care to eat alone in the hotels. If there's space they'll happily sit you at the sushi bar which gives you entertainment and conversation. Service is quick but not hurried. I love to spicy edamame beans. They have a proper heat to them. The miso is good too. I've tried many of their rolls and sashimi and I don't have a favourite because they're all good and often there's change in the specials too. The wine list is extensive but they also stock Sapporo Black beer which is made primarily for the US market and not available in the UK so I always treat myself to a couple of those. A really nice beer. If you're with company they're really accommodating too - I've been here with a party of fourteen (impromptu) and they managed to get us a table all with a smile too.

Great and exceptional food . Tuna tartar and Kobe beef on a hot rock outstanding.all food is best quality and service good.

Been here a few times past 3 weeks and its definitely on my top 3 restaurants for sushi in Houston. The salmon sashimi is REALLY good - don't know where they get it from, but its very fresh and better than the other places in Houston. Service is also good and the guys behind the sushi bar a nice chat.

I have been coming here for over 10 years. The food is always fresh and the service is excellent. Great for visitors staying in the Galleria area as well as all parts of Houston. Located in a strip mall, parking is not a problem.

Always fresh and always good!! I have been going here for over 10 years..and never disappointed. (although you cannot get brown rice) Convenient location to the Galleria and delightful atmosphere.

This is the best food I have ever had, and I'm not even a fan of Japanese. They were so accommodating and switched some of sushi rolls to be vegetarian for me. So delicious!

Everything is fantastic about this restaurant, highly recommended sushi-sashimi! I ordered several rolls and sashimi, all fresh and well prepared. The sea weed salad is excellent and so are the edamame.

This place has a great vibe. Good bar scene for a cocktail before dinner and the food is great. The Miso Covered SeaBass is just heavenly. I like the energy of the staff and the freshness of the food.

Service was great for our table of 10. Sushi was very nicely prepared, and the fish was noticeably fresh...hey it's Houston, it should be.
Best sea bass in Houston
Business trip into Houston Sage 400 next to my hotel. If you are a Sea Bass fan then this is one to have! Food great and service top notch. Looking forward into returning for more.
