Business Dinner

By Elizabeth K |

I have a client who we do the occasional dinner and one of our plans is to try all of the restaurants in Trinity Groves (except the seafood place since I'm allergic and it smells fishy outside). This time, Saint Rocco's, for Italian. The atmosphere is very retro and "cool" with the right music. The service was excellent. On Wednesdays wine is half price bottles. I like menus that aren't overly complicated and too many items (I HATE Cheesecake Factory) and this one was pretty straightforward. My veal marsala was pretty good and they gave good marks for the alfredo and the pork. I hear that the second floor bar has an excellent view. While I wouldn't put this on my have to go to restaurant list, I definitely think it's a good fit for Trinity Groves and will return.

Great place

Great views of Dallas. Good Italian. One of the better places in Dallas for Italian. Good bread, red sauce. Wine by the glass options could be better.. prices are a little on the high side for many of the dishes

Dinner dinner

Came here with my boyfriend and my sister and her boyfriend.... We came here after the tornado outbreak and the food was delish! Service was fantastic as well!!

Average at best

By Jschaf |

Came for family meal on Fathers Day. Good ambience, nice setting. Service was excellent. But the food was just average. We all had different pasta dishes and in each the pasta was overcooked. Pasta should be al dente rather than soft and mushy. This is a fatal flaw in an Italian Restaurant. As well, the sauces were just not that good. For dessert we ordered the ricotta cheese cake, only to discover this was not real ricotta cheese cake. The menu should not say ricotta. All in all, a disappointing experience.

Nice atmosphere, great view & food

By EKeane |

We had a large group for a business dinner & they accommodated us very well. They originally said for groups of 12 or more we would have to order "family style", but since we were there on a weekday night (not as busy as weekends), everyone was able to order off the menu. The food was excellent ~ I had the braised pork and we all shared various appetizers. Friendly service, nice atmosphere and if you're able to eat outside there's a great view of downtown Dallas.

Photos on the wall don't make it authentic

By Frank N |

This may be the first, but nonetheless it's intent is to be another Macaroni Grill type chain. The food was good, but definitely not authentic Italian, our server couldn't' come close to pronouncing most of the dishes. The pot roast was in no way Italian and seemed to really be shortribs, but it was very good. Italian wines on the list were minimal. Service was friendly but unprofessional, it took 15 minutes for the last appetizer for our group of 10 to arrive after the first Prices are high for the dishes served and parking is abysmal There are no free parking spaces close to the restaurant and the $5 valet booth was far enough to leave us soaked on a rainy night

Phil Romano & Managment Need Attitude Adjustment

By CraftBeers |

I have been to Rocco's twice now. This past Saturday night was not impressive. What I do like about Rocco's is the decor, employees and chef. The building is well done. The lighted sign outside is an attention getter. The interior has lots of white tile with stark red accents. It's beautiful. The employees are top tier. I'm guessing the high prices allow Rocco's to attract top talent with the lucrative tipping. However they find their employees, they are some of the best around. They are happy, smiling, helpful and knowledgeable. The food is well prepared. The zucchini chips are yummy. The Sicilian Lasagna is masterful. I sat at the bar for almost an hour and got to watch the team of cooks. They are awesome. Why rate it a two. Arrogance. The waitstaff was short handed. The wait times to be serviced took forever. We were seated by the host and waited 20 minutes for anyone to talk to us. We waited over and over again. The servers were awesome throughout. They were virtually running to keep up with the tables. What I did not see were the managers pitching in to help. They stayed at the front of the house and gave orders. I never saw them make the rounds. They never apologized for the waits. They did not ask how the food was. For $50 per person, I expect better from management. My opinion of this place really solidified when Phil Romano himself arrived. Phil is the co-owner with Jay Valley. He parked right in front. Ne never said hello to a single customer. He walked up to the zucchini chip pan and took a handful without washing his hands first. He never lifted a hand to help the struggling understaffed team. Later he was in the kitchen eating again and talking to the chef. He had the staff pour him a glass of wine rather than get his own. His arrogance and refusal to lift a finger fits how the management team treated the superb employees.

Enjoyed Appetizers & Drinks

By LizFSick |

Didn't have reservations so we sat at the bar. Service was great. Had the limoncello martini and a Merlot both outstanding. The calamari and white mushroom flatbread were extremely tasty. We'll be back.

keep on walking to another restaurant in Trinity Groves

By MomWaller |

We stopped in for a quick dinner as we wanted to see what Phil R had come up with this time. The interior is nice in a clean white subway tile, red and black accents. Somewhat retro Italian. Wine list was diverse enough and reasonably priced. The food, unfortunately, was not good. The "Alfredo" was heavy on cream and pepper, but even the strong pepper taste could not mask the underlying blandness. Not a hint of good parmesan, and tiny cubes of (perhaps) sausage. Meatloaf, recommended by the waitress, was dreary, tasting of liver and not in a good way. There are so many other better choices in the same building, we are not likely to even give this one a second chance.

Trinity Groves added a new tree

By Dean R |

new kid on the block. didnt read other reviews before going, a si wanted to have a fresh perspective. i like a lot Trinity Groves, and this place is one more reason why. Valet is a hidden secret. splurge and pay $5.00. Rocco's was OK. i think its rather dark inside. don't like places you need light to see your menu, tables i felt also poorly situated. you felt very cramped. that is obviously to get as many people in, but takes away from the overall experience. but as far as what is important, the FOOD. date and i tried it all salad, drinks (sangria and cocktails), dinner, even dessert, and i was ALL VERY GOOD. even the bread and butter, all good. so, bottom line, service was ideal, food very ideal, location better than ideal. yes, over $100, but i think worth it and will go back.

Surprising good

By jshepp9966 |

I read lots of great reviews on this restaurant and they held up. They had just updated their menu and some of the dishes had been chaged out. The chicken an deal dishes were very good. The 3 year old in our family had a big helping of pasta and ate most of it. Staff was pleasant and very. Helpful on selection of dishes. Meals served in time. Appetizers were also very good. Bread was good and the chips were outstanding. I will be going back. Roof top was closed but I understand it is a fabulous view of Dallas. Try it once for sure.

Delizioso

Family night at Saint Rocco's. First time eating here. Will definitively return soon. The food was amazing and Love Love Love Trinity Groves! Such a cool location.

First Rate!

By Bryan H |

Fantastic staff, helpful, knowledgable, and quick with a good suggestion. The Zerbina Prosecco and Rose' were perfect selections for apperitif, and with dinner. Food choices are abundant, but the "6-Hour Pot Roast" was divine. The veal was equally as compelling. Cross the bridge and try them. We will be back again soon.

Italian experience in Dallas not great

By Art W |

From the outside restaurant looks great the ambiance great..... we ordered chicken parmigiana, meatball and spaghetti and chicken franchise staples of the Italian kitchen. The meat balls were raw inside we called the waiter he apologized and took it back. After we were all finished the second spaghetti with meatballs arrive out of 3 meat balls 1 was still raw..... see picture....I thank God I didn't bring my dad he would have died with the pasta was over cooked. The waiter was sweet but ..... I asked for pepper I had to get up to get it.... and when he saw me doing it he ran "oh my sorry" .... the zucchini chips were amazing the bread delicious the marinara that he brought us was too sweet one of the girls thought it was tomato soup...

Very anxious to please!

We took our daughter, granddaughter, and great-grandson to St. Rocco's to enjoy some genuine Italian food. We were not disappointed. I let the restaurant know in advance that we would have a toddler with us. They had a highchair set aside for us and a table already selected for us. That allowed everyone to relax and not be concerned about our cute little guy being a distraction to others. I asked for a pasta dinner that was off menu. Our server was happy to do that. Everyone else chose an entree off the menu and all were very satisfied. The portions are large so leftovers are being enjoyed now. We started with a cheese board...very good. Wednesday night is half-price for wine and dessert. We enjoyed both. The ladies had cannolis and I had cheesecake. Service was quite good. Ambience also was good, although noisy, and interesting. Quite a few pictures of Italian experiences of years ago were on the walls. It was fun to remember. My only concern is for parking. The valet parking has been moved farther away from the entrance to the restaurant. That made for a longer walk. Self-parking is very limited. There are many good Italian restaurants in Dallas. This is one of them! Enjoy!

Best roof top bar in Dallas

By Mark H |

This is our 3rd time here and we just love it!!! The Italian food is excellent and the wine selection is great! The roof top bar might have the best view in Dallas. The 2009 Quereto Chianti Classico Reserve is excellent!! One of the best Italian wine selections in Dallas. Can't say enough good things about St Rocco's, from the staff to the food and wine, just a great place.

Saint Rocco's

By Angela H |

My daughter and I split the Caesar salad and chicken Alfredo. Definitely enough for both of us. They bring bread and dipping sauce to your table. Food was great and the banana pudding dessert was to die for!! Soooo delicious!

Wonderful Italian Food and Atmosphere

By David_H_777 |

It reminds me of an updated Italian restauant that we enjoyed in Syracuse. I remember the Older Italian ladies working the kitchen to produce authentic and delectable Food. All ingredients were fresh. The vegetable “chips” were unique and tasty. The entree’s were prepared well. Portions are a bit on the light side for my younger sons. Service was excellent. Thanks for an enjoyable evening. We’ll be going back!

Valentine’s Family Dinner

By Regina |

I loved this place. Nice, intimate with great service. We called ahead for reservations for nine people and our table was ready when we arrived. The guys at the bar are super nice 👍🏽 loved their serving attitude. Food was delicious and tasty. Try the braised pork, super tasty and tender. Also, the Sicilian Lasagna. We had a blast, we ended the night with a fresh cup of coffee and banana pudding. Can’t wait to go back. The view of downtown Dallas from the rooftop bar is to die for.

Mother's Day, Italian Style

By Virginia G |

Excellent fixed-menu lunch for Mother's Day. We were a party of three, had a reservation, and were seated quickly. Course, after course, was delivered, and the food was delicious. Really hope the olive-oil, pan-fried, chicken ends up on the regular menu! We have been here on a regular night, too, and the food is wonderful! We will definitely be back!

Decent Food And Service - Not close to NY Italian though

By bccrab |

A freind brought me here on a recent visit to Dallas, thinking I'd like some good NY style food( being from NY). The place was fine. I liked the area it is in - sort of a strip mall with lots of different style restaurants. Saint Rocco's reminded be of a few Italian style chain restaurants that have sprung up around the country. Certainly passable but not gourmet level or authentic.Don't get me wrong- you could probably do worse and the meal was good. Dishes are large enough to share.

Dinner with my wife!

By donniemcclure1952 |

Server and food were great! We did not make reservation, but they were able to sit us anyway. They were very nice to us and the food was delicious. We had vegan lasagna and pasta primavera. Highly recommended!!

Great atmosphere and good food

By Carole7117 |

Overall, I thought that Saint Rocco's was good. When you walk in the front door, the atmosphere is great. You really feel like you are eating at an upscale Italian restaurant. The menu had a fair variety. The fresh bread was fantastic. The appetizers were ok. Calamari was average. I had lobster ravioli and it was good. If probably try something else next time. Overall, it's good but if you are looking for great, the food isn't there yet.

Classic Italian!

By erialcTexas |

Trinity Groves provides a variety of restaurants and Saint Rocco is one of the best. Starting with appetizer to entrees all the dishes were true to traditional Italian food. For appetizers the capresse salad and the carpaccio board are excellent. The meatballs were tender and flavored perfectly. Three different pasta dishes were ordered and each was very tasty. The wait staff friendly and knowledgeable. We asked to speak to the "wine" person and she recommended an excellent Cabernet. The atmosphere is very New York Italian, the decor very nice.

Consistently Good

By idatarbell2015 |

We headed over for a post-Twelve-Days-of-Christmas-at-the-Arboretum on Friday evening and enjoyed the usual great service and food. Caesar salad was traditional and excellent and the pasta dishes--one al fredo and the other tomato-y with meatballs--were well made and delicious. The bottle of red the waiter helped us select was perfect. This is probably our tenth visit here and we find Saint Rocco's to be reliably good.

Saturday Night Dinner at Trinity Groves

By Cindy P |

My daughter and I made a 7:30 reservation on the afternoon of the same day. We were seated immediately upon our arrival. Our server, Brannon, greeted us with bread, marinara, and zucchini chips soon after we were seated. He was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu, happy to offer suggestions when asked. The sauce, bread, and zucchini chips were all very good. We order calamari to start. I had the Sole Milanese and my daughter order the lasagna (recommended by Brannon). The portions were very generous, neither of us were able to finish our entrees. Still, we could not pass up tiramisu bread pudding for dessert. I was glad we tried it. All of the food was excellent. The restaurant is decorated like a family owned New York Italian restaurant with white table cloths and black and white photos on the walls. The noise level inside the restaurant was pretty high. In the end, since it was night weather outside, we wished we had asked for outdoor seating.

Really awesome! Save room for dessert!!!

By Oscar N Barbara Z |

The food was amazing, and the ambiance and service were great. The calamari and flatbread appetizers, fresh hot bread, Sicilian Lasagna and Lobster Ravioli were all delicious. But no matter how full you are, save room for dessert! The pastry chef makes incredible cheesecake, and banana pudding and more! We loved this restaurant.

Good, but be warned

By John Lovell |

We loved our food (got the table side bruscetta too) and our server was excellent. But we wanted to get a good view from their upstairs seating and apparently that’s only for renting out by big groups. Somewhat disappointed by that policy.

50th class reunion

By Lyn H |

Great place and view of the Dallas skyline. Food was good. Staff members were great. Would recommend to anyone who wants to see the view.

Great food and service!

By DalTexTraveler |

A delightful meal. All of our food was delicious. The meatballs are fabulous and the house Sangiovese was delicious. Our waiter, Victor, had great recommendations and nothing disappointed. To the contrary, there were many more things we wanted to try, but were too full! Overall, a great dining experience!

Saint Rocco's not heavenly

By paul D |

Saint Rocco's was a huge disappointment. Obviously Mr Romano did not pay much attention in Italy or in the New York Italian restaurant he visited, The atmosphere is fairly accurate regardless of the fact that because it is so new it looks franchised and plastic. The waiters all have the appropriate look and attire and though our waiter had an appropriate accent he could not pronounce Italian words and his service was clumsy. The food was not Italian by any stretch of imagination. My 'Chop' salad was already pulled apart and tossed with an overabundance of dressing; soggy. My 'Alfredo'd pasta was al dente but swimming in what seemed like skim milk. Again, Mr Romano has not had a proper 'Alfredo' The wine list was limited and the whites were dominated by California Chardonays rather than good Italian whites. The cocktails were very good. Overall it is sad that yet again Dallas tries but fails at good Italian Eateries (there are some but few)

Trying something new!

By MMTYSM |

Nice atmosphere and great service!Thinly sliced zucchini chips are served at seating and bread with marinara sauce is also served while you wait for your dinner to arrive. If we had known this, we would not have ordered pizza. The crust was a cross between thin and New York, which was too much bread for us after the half a loaf they served earlier. Prices are $20 and up.

If you enjoy high quality Italian food

By Judd Kennedy |

We went here on a date night. They are probably one of the best places in Trinity Groves area. High quality foods and the atmosphere is amazing. Little costly but its worth every penny.

Great food, great wine - fun location.

By sightseeker29 |

I really liked this restaurant and the area where it was located. It looks like an industrial area that's been turned into several strips of restaurants, bars and a fabulous "cake by the slice" shop. It's a little off the beaten path and was somewhat difficult to reach during rush hour. But then, everything is difficult to reach in Dallas during rush hour. The waiters were knowledgeable and friendly and the food was pretty good. They also had a great wine selection. Would probably visit again.

Old Time Italian

By Danmcneill |

Place looks on the inside like a mob hangout in the 70's. Which is cool. Service was perfect. Meal was good. I think they said they had one of these in NY. I know NY loves their Italian food. Not sure if this would make it there based on the food. Its good but its not like awesome real Italian food. We will go back as I do not live in NY and this was good. Of course, the location is where its at right now. The one thing I do want to mention is that they don't price gouge you. We eat out probably 8 times a week. Dinner with a bottle of wine was very reasonable.

Great For Italian

By Mmcneill11 |

Old school looking Italian place. They try and do make it look like a mob joint would look like 30 years ago. Service was perfect. Food was great. I will be back, yes the food is good, but you are going to have a hard

Definitely not what I expected

By Sylvia G |

I was impressed with the view of downtown but sadly the 2nd floor was closed due to private parties taking place. Still decide to eat here. The inside is cute but too dark for me. My silverware had food on it. Service was always on point. All servers would always make sure drinks were full and no empty plates left on table. So this was definitely a good part. Now the food, well not as impressive. Especially for the portion and price. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and neither had flavor. The serving was also too small for the price. I tasted the pasta with chicken Parmesan. The pasta was delicious but not the chicken. I would only return if I was able to eat on the 2nd floor where the view is beautiful. I would also only have like an appetizer because I was not a fan of the main courses.

After they told me to "f" myself...

By Steve N |

The food is good. The food is authentic. The waitstaff could use a lesson or two in what they're serving. When I asked what the soup of the day was, the waitress replied "Pasta Fangul" which, if you know anything about Italian slang, means something VERY different than "with beans and pasta" (the soup was actually pasta e fagioli). Service is paaaaaainfully slow each time we have been, but friendly. Apparently faster is possible, as tonight Phil Romano came in with about a dozen guests and they had food on their table within 10 minutes. Definitely give it a try, but do your own homework if you're not familiar with Italian cuisine- the waitstaff tends to be able to offer little more info than what is printed on the menu.

Good food and large portions

By RHtravels |

It isn't the best Italian food I've ever had, but it was tasty and the portions were large. We had the rigatoni Bolognese and the Sicilian lasagna and both were very good. Both of us could not finish our meals so we had lunch the next day and they even put some bread in the bag for us as well. Both dishes tasted great reheated the next day. The service was fast and friendly on a busy Saturday night. We will be back.

Out of bread at 7pm, and you opened at 5pm?

By tdhat |

We went for dinner with another couple and were frankly disappointed, how could you be out of bread 2hrs into service and when we walked in at 6:50 for our 7pm reservations you weren't full? So we had the calamari for an appetizer and it was OK, but no better than anywhere else, the sauce was a complete let down. I order the seafood linguine and it was above average, however the lobster and shrimp were overcooked, the scallops were perfect (saved the dish). My wife had the scallops and she said it was nothing special. Another person at the table order the veal milanese and said it was amazing, she was the only person at the table that had glowing reviews for her food. Her husband had the Chicken Parmesan and he said it was good. The strange thing was once our food was delivered and not delivered by our waiter, we did not see our waiter for another 10 minutes. He was there he just did not come back to our table unless we flagged him down, no checking to see if our meal came out ok, or did anyone need fresh pepper or Parmesan. At this point it feels very fast food like, except even at olive garden the waiter is there when or right after your food is served. To my recollection there was not a cross word said to the guy, everyone was happy, well until we were informed they were out of bread, but even then we said ok, maybe do a second calamari. This was one of the only times I have not tipped 20+%, I specifically tipped around 13%, but I doubt that he would have noticed or cared. We all really had high hopes for this place, however our balloon of excitement was quickly burst. If this is the standard then, this place will go the way of the tamale place and potato flats, such a shame.

Skip this one

By ScottH9848 |

We celebrated a co- worker for dinner recently and our entire group was un-impressed with the food. The service was good- but the food.....no. That's what great about Trinity Groves though- walk a few more feet and you can find better.

Sumptuous dinner

By Mrs MM |

This Italian restaurant was amazing. There are lots of pictures hanging around the walls and were beautiful The food was sumptuous and filling. I had a steak. The service was also really good and fast. We had a great time and will definitely be back the next time I am in Dallas .

Great place to have dinner

By Suzette |

On arrival, the parking lot was full. Noticed they had valet parking but just waited for few seconds and a parking spot opened up. There are number of restaurants at this plaza we discovered but chose to eat at St. Rocco's. The restaurant is very well lit, lots of black and white pictures on the wall. Got a table quickly (hostess asked if we had a reservation). Very busy but everyone seemed to be having a grand time. Our waiter was very friendly, told us they were short-staffed but wouldn't have guessed it. Zucchini chips and bread were served, the sauce needed more seasoning....very bland. I had the lobster ravioli and my hubby had the lasagna. He enjoyed it but couldn't get past the fact that they had meatballs in it.

Not NY

By Ayal V |

This was recommended by the hotel that I have to believe there's other better Italian restaurants in Dallas. The zucchini chips were actually a nice surprise. The dishes were very large but lacked any unique flavor. My colleagues had chicken and veal marsala respectively while I was recommended by the waitress the lasagna. All were OK not bad but nothing to rave about either. We didn't have dessert but all in all the food was fresh and work expecting a better meal.

Still a hidden gem

By Ckethley |

I can't believe I found this on my own. We have been to the Trinity Grove area a few times, but never knew about Saint Rocco's until one day we saw it and looked it up. A few mixed reviews kept us from trying immediately. Last night we decided to make it a date night, and are we glad we did! A random Wednesday night turned into a lot of fun. The wait staff was superb, despite the negative reviews we read. Our waiter, Taylor, was very knowledgeable on all things Saint Rocco's. The wine list is incredible and not over priced, however, on Wednesday, they slash all bottle prices in half. We started off with carpaccio, then my wife had the scallops (she claimed they were the best she's ever had) and I had the lasagna (which was just wonderful). We then shared the banana pudding which was served in a basket made of filo dough. The whole meal was absolutely excellent. I say put this on the list!

Surprisingly good Italian food

By 676ginak |

I've been wanting to go to Trinity Groves so a friend and I had the opportunity to go Friday night and although I expected more from the highly publicized area of Dallas this restaurant was really good. I loved walking in and feeling like I was in NY at a family owned Italian restaurant. Lots of black and white and hints of red throughout. All open concept to the kitchen. We didn't like the small table they sat us at along a support beam in the restaurant which obstructed our views, but we didn't complain we went with it. They lost our reservation even though they called my friend to confirm that day. The menu was good and we tried a few different items from the menu; calamari, pork, meatballs, Italian sauce, bread, fish we enjoyed everything we had. I would go back again and ask for a better table next time. The service was a little off. The young boy was trying really hard, but we were interrupted a lot and many times they tried to take our plates and we had to say we are not done yet. I think a little training here would be good. Ask before you try and remove the plate please.

Would not recommend

By Kate K |

We were underwhelmed with our dinner experience at Saint Roccos this past Saturday night. Had a reservation for 8pm but had to wait 15-20 minutes to be seated. The hostess was very irritated when we asked for an update after about 10 minutes and snapped at my friend. Our server seemed overwhelmed with how busy it was and after an initial flurry of attention essentially ignored us until dessert. The appetizer and salads were quite good (calamari, cesear salad & spinach salad), but our entrees were frankly terrible (chicken parm, sole milanese - all dry and overcooked - completely flavorless). I have honestly had better entrees at Olive Garden. Would not recommend for the price.

Wonderful Night Out

By Tony D |

Just spent a wonderful night out with friends at Saint Rocco's. First time for all of us. The food was amazing. Two of us are vegetarian and options were plentiful, the waitstaff were accommodating and friendly. The eggplant parmasian was beyond amazing as was the caprese salad. Our friends loved their Shredded Pork and Meatloaf mains. Their Caesar Salad was exceptional. This was complemented with a wonderful Pino Noir and a warm bread starter. We WILL BE BACK!

Spectacular View from the Bar

By johnjphillips7 |

I took my wife here on a date night. It was not crowded at 7 PM on a Saturday. The bar has many couches to relax on. On the wall are several TVs. There is a spectacular view of downtown Dallas at night. We ordered the chips which were crispy. The plate of nuts was large but 99 percent peanuts. The sausage pizza was delicious. It was thin and crispy. The beer is expensive at $6 for a Miller Lite. The house wine was reasonable. The crown and cokes were also reasonable at $8. I would go back for the view and the atmosphere.

Wine with a view

By lsugirl618 |

The restaurant was very nice on the inside, looked like an authentic Italian diner. We sat at the bar, the staff was very friendly and made suggestions. The food was ok, not outstanding by any means but for the price I guess we were expecting a little more. However, that being said. Take your glass of wine upstairs to the patio rooftop deck to overlook the Dallas skyline and that is worth it. If you visit, skip the restaurant and opt to have a drink and appetizer upstairs. That was worth it!

Brian Hunter it's HOSPITALITY not Hostility.

By Lwh |

This is a review of Saint Rocco's and of Brian Hunter, GM of Saint Rocco's. 2 friends, my fiancé and I arrived at Saint Rocco's at 7:30pm on January 15, 2021 for a Brithday dinner. We all ordered and proceeded to wait over 30 minutes for our food to come out all at different times. Step your game up EXPO (We'll get back to that). My friends got shrimp and bacon pasta. Honestly the most overcooked shrimp ever. My fiancé had a flat bread, nothing special there either. Finally, I had the lobster ravioli, it came out last (my friends had already finished there past by the time it came out) and some of the ravioli were undercooked and hard on the bottom. What this tells me is the EXPO sucks and the chef forgot to make the ravioli and had to on the fly. Ultimately sending out undercooked food and giving me FOOD POSINING. AT ABOUT 3AM I WOKE UP AND LITTERALLY POOPED MYSELF FOR HOURS. It was so bad I called the restaurant and left a voice mail explaining the situation and requested a call back. To which I received, none. Let's talk about Brian Humter GM of Saint Rocco's. He apparently only has enough brain cells to answer the phone. Don't ask him to call.you back, its.just too much for him to comprehend. I'm so sick the next day that my fiancé calls the restaurant. She re-explains the situation to which he responds by saying he didn't call back because he 'thought is was a joke' and then proceeds to call me a 'liar'. Then says food posing takes 24 hours to develop. Somebody needs to retake their food handlers dumb dumb. It's actually 6-12 hours. (That one is on me, buddy.) The way he talked down to my fiancé was downright unprofessional, unpleasant and childish. Go back to Amarillo with that disgusting attitude and low IQ. Brian, I'm not sure why you entered the hospitality industry, but let me remind you. Your customers are the only reason you have a job. The fact that you are this incompetent goes to show your complete lack of respect and complacency for the HOSPITALITY industry, your own reputation and Saint Rocco's. By the looks of the other reviews, I'm not the only person who feels this way, brian. Also, I think it's absolutely hilarious that your 'best seller' the lobster ravioli is a pre-made food not made in-house from a distributor. I don't understand how you can take responsibility for a food you don't manufacture. Oh, wait you don't take responsibility, I forgot.

Mediocre Food but Nice Service

By jmw61 |

I suppose on my first trip to Dallas I shouldn't have chosen a NY Style Italian restaurant, what was I thinking. Restaurant is located in a trendy new development of restaurants and shops called Trinity Groves. It was a short Uber ride from my hotel on the other side of the river and the atmosphere and service was nice. The waiter was friendly and welcoming and recommended a spectacular Amarone wine (50% off on Wednesdays). The fool however was mediocre at best. I ordered the Veal Milenase but the sauce was had a cornstarch consistence and was really pretty bland. My colleague has the ribeye and was not too happy with his choice as well. I probably should have gone with a pasta dish. The restaurant was not very crowded but it was a Wednesday evening but I assume it's hopping on the weekends. Next time in Dallas......Barbeque! or a nice steakhouse.

Just OK

By heyboyo |

There are several reviews on here that speak to long waits, poor service and inattentiveness. They are all spot on. With an Open Table reservation we still waited 20 minutes. Once seated it took over 20 minutes to get our drinks. After our main courses were delivered I couldn't get our waiter's attention to get more drinks. With the food just OK we passed on dessert. With all of the waiters running around how could they always be so behind? Poor management. So much potential here, but it doesn't meet the standard at Trinity Groves.

Excellent Italian fine dining

By Tacoma236 |

Portions good, the food was outstanding, the wine selection and all food choices were quite good. Service was outstanding, decor was a bit bland not as cozy as I expected.. Although that may be more of a Fauxvid thing Drinks were proper and tasty. Downside.. WTF was the bread Dipping sauce? Watered down marinara?

Excellent Find! We were in Dallas for a wedding and found this restaurant on Open Table and thought to try it because it was pretty close to the hotel. Food was excellent! We typically judge Italian restaurants based on the sauce, and this was very good. We had the lobster ravioli, eggplant parmesan, and lasagna. All were excellent. Be forwarded, the eggplant Parmesan is plentiful....enough for leftovers...or possibly to share. Service was exceptional!!!

Great Dinner!

By 04travelingthru |

We recently had my daughters graduation dinner at Saint Rocco's. We were seated in a private room, that was larger than I would have liked for our size of group, but the privacy, which we wanted, more than outweighed the room size. The food was great!! Started with antipasto board. Definitely recommend, board was tasty and a great way to start off the evening. Salads were cold and crisp and full of flavor. Chicken parm was fork tender and the meatloaf was everyone's favorite. Dinner was served family style and there was more food than we could eat. The desserts were awesome. The chef made some kind of vanilla custard(sorry cannot remember the name), it was amazing!! The staff was great!! Very attentive and personable!! They kept our beverages full and plates cleared. I appreciated them checking with us when to bring the next course out, we had older family members that did not eat as fast as others, so this way we were able to have all the courses served appropriately. The event coordinator, Tricia, was great and super easy to work with. I would definitely have another event here. At the end of the night, we had a happy crowd and made some great memories with our family, couldn't ask for more.

Very bad experience

Very bad experience, the manager Victor Ortiz was very rude and so unprofessional, Rib Eye was dry, horrible! When we reported it, he told us it was because our finish we order, so rude this man

Trinity Groves Italian Heart

By Bill D |

Enjoy a taste of Southern Italy in South Dallas at St. Rocco's New York Italian. The menu is robust, and the dishes more than deliver a taste of southern Italy. The carpaccio was on point, the linguine alla vongole delicious, and dessert (if you still have room), is worth the indulgence. The staff is attentive and engaging, but not overbearing. This taste of Italy is worth the short drive over the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge.

Nice Place

By Ron D |

Joined several friends for an evening at St. Rocco's Italian. The atmosphere was very nice, the service was good, the food was good, the restaurant smelled like an Italian restaurant should smell like....you know...heavy cheese and fresh baked bread. The meal was nothing spectacular but was OK. They had some zucchini chips as an appitizer that weren't bad either. I would go back.

Tourist Italian that is nothing worth the price

By CliveWatkins |

What was I thinking? Trinity Groves has been and remains to me a disappointment. We went looking to eat in a different Italian restaurant we hadn’t been in. But this isn’t it. This is an expensive version of macaroni grill that isn’t as good. And that’s what it is. We didn’t know it was a Phil Romano "partnership". In no disrespect to him, who was behind some great concepts , this isn’t worthy of his branding. It really is Macaroni Grill, but the food is the furthest thing from authentic Italian. It’s a concept that masks itself with the location and the food was mediocre and expensive. I’m curious what the people who voted this excellent are used to for Italian, or realize they just spent twice the money for food that wasn’t as good as a place they thought wasn’t fancy enough like the Mac Grill. Sorry. This is a chain restaurant Italian hiding at trinity groves waiting to charge you more for average food.

Head South for a Nice Meal

By Jerome G |

Saint Rocco's is just on the south side of the new MHHunt bridge. It is a Phil Romano recreation with the look and feel of a typical NY Italian restaurant circa 1955. It has a open kitchen, cans of produce on wall, etc. The menu is not extensive but then again, it doesn't need to be because it is better to do a few dishes well rather than many mediocre dishes. All of the dishes our party tried were tasty and plentiful. I'd suggest that you dine with a number of your friends so you can share the appetizers and steal tastes of others entrees. Mangia, mangia.

Great view of the Dallas skyline and bridge from the front patio

By Linda F |

Hands down, great food with every dish prepared well and came piping hot. The service was excellant as well with a fantastic view of the Dallas skyline lit up at night.

Excellent Dinner

By Jamie R |

Visited Dallas for a running race and went to Saint Rocco's for dinner. The food was excellent. The meal started with zucchini chips. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. Fresh bread was also brought to the table. Our fettuccine contained ample amounts of chicken with bow tie pasta and FRESH peas. The spaghetti and meatballs was a heaping serving with very large meatballs and was delicious as well. We finished with a variety of cannoli and cheese cake with a strawberry on top. Fantastic!

Nice Family Italian

By Hcriswell |

In town to visit daughter found this place that turned out to be perfect for a wonderful family meal. Nice location and view from top floor fantastic. Food was delicious, I had the seafood linguini and can attest it is original. Also have vegetarian choices that my daughter totally recommend Clean, nice bar and wine selection with a very knowledgably and courteous staff. A definite recommend, and don't forget the dessert.

Only Thing Missing Is The Subway Ride

By blklthrjkt |

My partner and I had our anniversary dinner at Saint Rocco's tonight and it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is about as close to a New York City Italian restaurant as I can imagine. It's not a kitschy atmosphere, but one that feels genuine in every respect. " It is a bit noisy, but not annoyingly so and the bustle of the kitchen adds to the atmosphere. I had the Braised Pork with polenta. It melted in my mouth and the gravy was savory and delicious. The Caprese was made with cherry tomatoes and fresh basil that complimented the fresh mozzarella perfectly. My partner had the Chicken Parmigiana and apparently loved it, since there was nothing left. Afterward we had desserts. The Chocolate Espresso Cake was as rich as we expected. Smooth and dark. The only disappointment was my Cannoli which was tasty, but a bit too crispy. That didn't prevent me from downing it with a delicious cup of coffee. Overall the evening was great and the service and atmosphere did not disappoint. The only thing that would have made it more authentic is if we had arrived by subway. Great view of Downtown Dallas from the patio, too.

Great Patio Drinks

By Eddie R |

The appeal of this place is their gorgeous patio upstairs that overlooks the downtown skyline. You can either take the three flight of stairs or if your lazy like me you can take the elevator. The bar upstairs is usually crowded so I suggest getting a drink downstairs before heading up. Niece upstairs you can relax in plush comfy chairs/sofas while enjoying your overpriced cocktail paying for the view. We eventually headed downstairs for dinner. The server brings zucchini chips which are pretty good except they are covered with oil. We ordered the cheese board for the table and it was perfect from the mozzarella with pesto to the blue cheese and prosciutto. The lobster ravioli was creamy and very delicious. We also had the pesto shrimp pasta, very disappointed especially for the price. Overall, this place is pretty good the service was good, however I feel the prices for the food and selection are way overpriced for what you get. I would recommend this place for cocktails upstairs and then head to some of the other great restaurants in the area.

Great meal. Great service

Fantastic Italian food st the foot of the Margaret Hill-Hunt Bridge. Great menu and wine list. We will be back!

Definitely New York Italian

By travlndon |

Went out with family to celebrate our granddaughter,'s performance in school revue. We were quickly seated thank to phone ahead reservation for party of six. We were immediately served zucchini chips. The bread course included marinara sauce for dipping. Entrées followed and were served hot abs practically all at the same time. My eggplant parmessan was prepared more as a lasagna of eggplant and bread layers. It was more than I could eat. As one of the lower priced menu entrées, it could be an excellent deal. Although sorely tempted, everyone passed on reasonably priced dessert offerings. I liked the ambience of the decor and the intimacy of lowered lights.

Great meal &a wonderful atmosphere

By Allie K |

I was in town for work and my co-workers and I had a great meal at Saint Rocco's. Our server Margret was friendly, kind and helpful. The atmosphere in the dinning room is great for conversation and is decorated beautifully. I had the lobster ravioli and it was delicious! I would definitely recommend this place!

Excellent!!

By Jennifer B |

Love everything about this place! I am an Italian food fanatic and this is my new fave in Dallas. The decor and atmosphere are great...really feels like New York. I feel like I'm on vacation when I come here. You'd totally forget you're in Dallas except for the beautiful skyline view from their patio. This is a cute place that would be great for a date night, girls night, or special occasion when you want something different and upscale but not stuffy. It's the right balance of classy and fun. Bar faces a lively open kitchen which was fun to watch. Food is authentic! A little pricy at first glance, but so worth it and portions are large. We had the shrimp appetizer, chicken parmesan and fettuccine alfredo. All were amazing!! Service was great too...waiter, bartenders, chef and hostess were all super friendly, efficient, and make you feel like a regular. Can't wait to come back! Looking forward to the rooftop patio they are building!

Good Food but Expensive

By johnjphillips7 |

The drinks were strong. The sausage pizza was great. Crispy crust and flavorful. The meatball appetizer was good but you only get 4 small meatballs for $9. The calamari appetizer was a small portion and chewy. The salmon was good. My wife loved the Chicken Francaise. The service was great. The staff was friendly and attentive. The cannolis come 3 to an order. They were not as sweet as other places that we have liked.

3 Star Average

By jmho4u |

Went on a rainy Sunday around 4:30. Seated immediately, restaurant was empty. I liked the decor. Agree with other reviewers service was extremely slow. Waiter admitted it was his first week when we asked what he liked on the menu. To his credit he did suggest what others had ordered a lot of. Sangria was good but not worth the $10 charge. We had the lasagna - good, lobster mac - just ok, salmon - average. Zucchini chips & bread good. Over all over priced for a average meal. Would not go out of my way to eat here again.

Not sure this is NY style, but there were some hits

By midwstgirl |

This was a second visit for one of us, first visit for the other. Highlights: attentive bartender (where we sat/ate); good 1/2 price wine night Wednesdays; nice shaved/salted zucchini chips before dinner; awesome bread and light (vodka?) sauce. The misses: not crowded dining room and yet it seemed there was chaos among some of the staff. We ordered a salad but it never came. The pizza was not NY style at all, but rather a flatbread. Nice flavor though, I’d get it again. The chicken parm was probably the biggest disappointment—rubbery and flat—sadly was probably frozen product. I’d go back, my companion will not.

Decent Food

By Brr4346AD |

Not a bad spot in trinity groves. The food is good for Texas Italian. The service is good and the decor is like New York Italian.

Hit and miss

By ladybel |

Loved the pasta fagioli-thick with lots of beans. New York style is what they call it but I just call it yummy! Hit! The Scallop Aila E Olio was a miss because the scallops were too charred for my taste and the linguini was tough. The Bellini was very good and strong so that's another hit. The patio seating has a partial view of the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge as well as a full view of the industrial plant. The staff was attentive. Overall it was okay, so if I get a craving for Bellinis and fagioli I may give it another chance.

Great Food and Service. Freezing Restaurant

By Bradley K |

For the good side - We were a party of 3 and had a great experience from a service and food standpoint. The waiter did a great job and all of our meals and salad were delicious. (So were the fried zuccini appetizer and bread they bring you). Only reason not 5 stars is the space itself. It was so cold in the restaurant it was uncomfortable and took away from the experience. When we asked the waiter to see if there was something to be done he said that unfortunately the way the restaurant is it is either too cold (Or if they turn down people complain it is too warm). Therefore I would suggest planning accordingly.

Over rated food

By Texan1110 |

My husband ordered 6 hour roast and I ordered veal parmesian. The veal should have been one of the best but it was greasy and a bit spicy and just average tasting. Husband liked first few bits of meatloaf but then declared it very rich, too rich. We each brought home leftovers to have second day. I took a few bites and then stopped.

Your bias is showing, Rocco...

By Rebecca C |

I arrived this evening as one white female member of a group of five potential patrons. The young hostess glanced up as my colleague asked for a table for five and said, without making eye contact, "No, we don't have anything..." As we stood there, she reluctantly said, "Well...let me check..." She went into the restaurant and came back out with someone who appeared to have a managerial role. This person looked at our group, saw me standing there, then stated that it would be a 5-7 minute wait, and if we wanted to wait outside, they would come and get us. As we all turned to leave, the young hostess looked at me and said, "OH! Hi! Can I help you?" Disgusted and incredulous, I said, "I am with THEM..." She blushed and said, "ohh..." Needless to say, we decided to choose another, less racist/biased establishment this evening. You can do better, Saint Rocco's.

Upscale Italian

By Steve M |

Went to dinner at Saint Rocco's before the Dallas Symphony. We love going to Trinity Groves - it's good to see so much vitality in a safe, fun environment. There's something for everyone, but we had not been to Saint Rocco's before. The restaurant was attractive, and quiet enough for good conversation. The choices were amazing, and everyone in our party was pleased with their selection. Service was prompt and friendly. We will be back.

Hidden gem for italian food

By Steven D |

Recommended by a fellow traveler. looks like a large restaurant from outside but very quaint on the inside. great sauces, all home cooked. prices are very reasonable. went on half price wine night so had a nice bottle at a reasonable price. both the fish dish and the chicken dish we had was very good. atmosphere and service are really good. we will return.

Lots of glitz, but that's all

By SusanRichie |

If you are a fan of Phil Romano, go to Macaroni Grill. You'll get a good reasonably priced meal there. Sadly, that's not true at Saint Rocco's. We weren't seated until 35 minutes after our reservation time. I had a very bad cosmopolitan at the bar while we waited. It tasted like unsweetened lemonade. It was a precursor to a lemon of an evening. Our salads were delivered promptly and were very tasty. After about half an hour after the salads were cleared we started asking about our entrées. Over the course of the next 45 minutes, we asked our server 3 times to check on our food. Each time we were told cheerfully that it was almost ready and would be out in 5-minutes. Finally we asked for the manager, who apologetically told us that the kitchen lost our ticket. How could that be? Our server said our food was almost ready? Well we waited some more and finally got our meal. I wish I could say our patience was rewarded. My plate consisted of a large piece of roasted chicken surrounded by more brown roasted potatoes. Just a big plate of brown food. No lemon, not a fleck of parsley, just brown. And it tasted like it looked. The chicken was dry, over cooked and under seasoned. What a disappointment from the man whom I admire so much for his vision for Trinity Groves. Just skip it. It's a pretty place with a nice vibe but really terrible service and expensive entrées that fall far short of expectations. They seem far more impressed with themselves than with impressing the customer.

Poor management angers many

By travelchick14 |

We visited for the first time on July 3. Although we had heard mixed reviews of the food, we specifically made reservations here so that after dinner we could go to the rooftop patio and watch a local firework show at 9:30. We were told that with our dinner receipt we would receive free access to the rooftop. Now here's what really happened. While well-dressed customers dined on their hundred dollar meals, last minute party goers paid $20 and filled the rooftop. When downstairs diners climbed the stairs in anticipation of the show, they were told the roof was at capacity. Sorry. Too bad. But wait, what about all of those couches with the best views that are empty? There's seating for at least 30? Sorry? Those are reserved for the owners. Poor management to not have foreseen the problems this would cause. Perhaps you should have had a voucher system in place, so that those willing to spend money at your establishment had the choice to also celebrate there. Trust me, all of the angry diners who got to know each other outside on the street would have appreciated that. And here's the kicker. He food was just, meh. The dinner started well with the fried zucchini chips...super tasty. The Caesar salad for $9 and the Panzanella for $10 were both delicious. Eggplant Parmesan came out like a meatloaf and looked impressive, but was mostly breading, lacked sauce and seasoning and was cold. $18. Rigatoni Bolognese portion was huge, but was a little like pulled pork barbecue in a tomato sauce. The taste was decent, and it was piping hot, we just couldn't get over the texture. $24 Veal Parmesan, $39. No time for dessert because we had to run upstairs to see the fireworks...oops. All in all, even without the mismanaged evening and the slow service, we probably wouldn't return. Italian food isn't difficult. And for these prices it should be on point.

Birthday bash

By Kimberly T |

I enjoyed my experience at Saint Rocco's. We started woth happy hour in the lounge. We were early and there weren't that many people but we were able to conduct conversations. Don't forget to take a selfie with the MHH bridge in the background. Then we headed to dinner. The zucchini chips were not my cup of tea. They were over fried and just tasted like burnt oil. They had a great wine list, but would have loved to see a Malbec. Just my personal taste. I had the chicken marsala. Perfectly balanced and flavorful. For dessert, I had cannolli. Overall, lovely time.

Family dinner

By Brandon H |

I was back in town with my family about a weeks ago. Saint Rocco 's is a MUST if we want to eat some authentic Italian food . The food was amazing , the lobster ravioli and the seafood linguine were excellent, the sausage pizza bonissima, the calamari were tender inside and crispy outside. Everything was great but there was something missing , the soul of the restaurant : Malita. She really made the place special . Next time I will make sure to call first !

Expensive and not authentic

By daddyandpapa |

Nice atmosphere, great service but very expensive for what you get. Overall the food is good and more on par with Macaroni Grill. The place markets itself like an Italian kitchen mama would churn out old world recipes. It's not that kind of food and it desperately needs to be that place. The chicken francaisse was not pounded thin, instead it was thick breast meat and therefore a little dry, too much cream and not enough lemon. It was good but not great. The pasta was not fresh, and it should be. The tomato sauce, or as Italians say the gravy, should be out of this world.. It was just ok. The fettuccine Alfredo was ok, not great. You don't need $35 dishes to be great... You need authentic Italian food.. And this place ain't it...

Tasty Italian

By Tracy S |

This was a great place for a group dinner. My boss pre-ordered the menu. Drinks were a bit slow but good. The appetizer of fried zucchini was ok (I'm not a fan of fried food but if I were, I would have loved this). The margherita flatbread pizza was great, but if you like salt for your tomatoes be sure to ask for that early to allow for plenty of time to get it. The deconstructed lasagna was amazing, but there was something in it that took my breath away the first few bites. I got a little chocked up. My friend said it was the Italian sausage. If you like spicy, it's really good! The other dish was a salad with salmon. The salad was amazing and the salmon was out of this world good! For dessert, the ricotta cheesecake with balsamic was the best I've ever had. And I highly recommend the salted caramel tiramisu martini although it's pricey.

Great date night

By Leigh B |

We came for the location, not in hopes of an authentic Italian experience. So whether or not this place is "authentic Italian" means nothing to me. The important thing is that I cannot stop talking about the fish that I ordered. The sole Milanese was cooked and flavored to perfection. It was a very generous portion (two lovely fillets). I reluctantly shared a bite with my very picky husband and he wanted to steal it. The table bread was also very good. We enjoyed the vibe at this place -- super long bar, silly red carpet. It was a very solid experience. Granted, the servers could use some added training in answering menu questions, but their timing and level of attention was very good. The bottom line is that I will be back again and again for that sole. The view and location near the pedestrian bridge makes this place a great option for family visiting from out of town.

Just OK

By Tony201089 |

Service was excellent. Antipasto, burrata and the carpaccio were good. My niece ordered a margherita pizza and it was not up to par, not a pizza crust. My wife ordered the eggplant parmigiana and it was not a typical eggplant. It was burned. We didn't try the pastas but I will give it a try just to give it a second chance another time I am in Dallas.

Romantic Dinner with Superb Food

By De Cody |

We easily made reservations and ate on their patio during January. The crisp air was nice against their many heaters. The food from appetizers to our desert was delicious. High quality and well done - We have not had that in many places since Covid ravaged this restaurant industry and found Saint Rocco’s to be an amazing choice. Ernesto was a very personable waiter and offered great recommendations for wine and food selections. We cant wait to return. The view upstairs is truly breathtaking!

Just average !!

By sjmoore25 |

This was our first time to dine here and it was very average for Italian. The spaghetti sauce was very thick and tasted more like can sauce. The atmosphereThe atmosphere was very cool and

Very disappointed

By jandktravelers |

Must have been an off night last night. All four of our dinners were ... well.. pretty bad: watery alfredo, overcooked dry potroast... could go on but won't. Really hope this isn't a trend as our first experience was so good.

Saint Rocco's New York, Trinity Groves

By L J H |

We love Saint Rocco's for many reasons. Reservations on the weekend is the best suggestion because they can get a bit busy. They start the table off with Zucchini chips, which are out of this world and we always request more!! We never feel rushed or like they are trying to turn the tables over quick. There is some great time between getting out Zucchini chips and the meal for some nice talking without the phones in our hands. I always get the Seared Scallops which are always cooked perfectly which is rare at most restaurants unless you know how to really cook scallops. My group has ordered the 6 hour Pot Roast, Veal, Calamari, among other things, and have never had a bad experience. The food has always been hot and tasteful. The music is a bit loud at times but not bothersome for me. The Sous Chef, Sonia, on one particular occasion went above and beyond for my mother whom is allergic to anything with hot peppers. We requested from the waiter to see if a meal she wanted had any jalapeño, red peppers, hot anything and he said he would find out. A few seconds later, Sonia came over to the table to speak to my mother personally about her needs and wanted to make sure it was fixed without any allergic reactions and modified her meal as needed. We have never experienced this level of service at any restaurant we have been to. We appreciated Sonia coming over personally to make sure it was what my mother could eat and all her questions were answered about what was in the food being prepared. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a good atmosphere, with great waitstaff and a wonderful experience. The prices are a bit high to some I am sure, but to me, the prices are perfect for the excellent service and taste of food that you get.

Great place except for the food

By KCM2015 |

We had a family dinner at Saint Rocco's and the atmosphere was great, the service was great, the drinks were awesome, and then our food arrived. The food was not good. Not one single person out of our party of 5 liked their dish. You can get better food at Olive Garden any day of the week. Have drinks or appetizers at Saint Rocco's and eat somewhere else. The quality of the food was terrible.

I wanted to like this place..

By MiamiManny |

I came in wanting to like this place... It was a nice evening and we were seated by a very nice young lady outside.. Oscar our server was fantastic and attentive. I've just got say the food is average at best... Very average. I had a shrimp pasta with I believe pecorino cheese... It was just a very thick Alfredo type sauce.. My friend had a meatball and spaghetti dish we she said was just ok... I tasted a meatball, probably a frozen variety... (I'm guessing) Caprese salad had their spin on it, but it was tasty and we both enjoyed that very much... Wine special was great 1/2 off your bottle of wine, which puts it right at supermarket price point.. There was a bit of a delay getting entrées out, place was not full. Not sure what that could have been attributed to.. OK this place is not bad, it's just average... So if that's what you are looking for then this is your spot.

Ideal Birthday Dinner

By TGFG |

Had family birthday celebration on Sunday night. Food was excellent - service impeccable. In addition, you can actually talk at your table without shouting over noise.

Good food. Close to downtown Dallas.

By Pizzakidsrs |

The truffle fries and calamari were delicious appetizers. The Caesar salad was tasty. The lasagna is a huge portion and it is so good! The pepperoni pizza is also very good. We ordered the Texas cannoli for dessert and it was like a de-constructed cannoli. We would order the regular cannoli next time. Overall, great atmosphere and great experience!

Great new Italian Restaurant and definitely worth the trip across the Margaret Hunt Bridge

By BC_Dallas_Texas |

This is new Italian Restaurant which opened on Thursday, September 10, 2015 as the latest edition to the Trinity Groves Restaurants. After living in Dallas for a number of years, it had been difficult to find an authentic Italian restaurant dinning experience with great food, especially south or west of the Trinity river. This restaurant definitely fits the bill and is an unqualified hit. The restaurant is the latest restaurant concept from Chef and Co-Owner Jay Valley. Upon entering you will be impressed with its décor which is styled to be a modern interpretation of Italian-American dinner club and features red carpet with white subway tile and an open kitchen a with a hand-carved wooden bar that spans the length of the restaurant You will also be impressed with its interior with wall-to-wall black and white vintage photos. You will be started off with fresh bread accompanied by Italian seasons, parmesan cheese and olive oil which is made for you at your table by your waiter and is absolutely delicious. The food, which is the item which will make are break a restaurant, is a “home run” for authenticity and flavor. Some standouts are the Sausage and Peppers appetizer and the Rigatoni Bolognese. The Pesto Shrimp are a special treat made with pesto grilled shrimp on pecorino pastina in a savory butter based sauce. This pecorino pasta which is made of tiny balls with butter mild and cheese, is unique, delicious and definitely worth the visit. Also delicious is the chocolate espresso cake which is a moist, dark chocolate cake topped with an rich, espresso icing accompanied with a fantastic vanilla ice cream. We went to the restaurant on a Friday night on the second night of opening. The wait staff is friendly, but green, but highly enthusiastic to deliver and please. The service still has a few kinks, like the servers not being entirely familiar with the menu, not being knowledgeable about Italian food and wine or not knowing how to operate the espresso machine. I assume with a few more days of opening, they will improved their culinary knowledge and smooth out the kinks in the service. The restaurant is convenient, food is great and prices, while not cheap, they are reasonable. Be prepared to spend about $50-60 per person with appetizer, wine, main course and dessert. I live nearby in Dallas in Kessler Park and we will definitely be back. But even for those who live far away in Dallas, this restaurant is definitely worth the trip across the Margaret Hunt Bridge to Singleton Avenue in West Dallas.

Truly Average..well poor.

By Traveling Boxes |

Friends in Dallas invited us here during our visit to Dallas. Of course I looked it up on TripAdvisor. I saw good and poor remarks and thought best to make my own opinion after all we were definitely going! Most of the staff appeared to be around 20 years of age without a lot of training. The hostesses were giggly and our waitress was simply slow and not very knowledgable on the service industry. I am saying this from having worked the service industry and being an educator. I just feel like someone needs to train that entire staff so they can better serve, they simply do not know all the mistakes they're making. We had bread dropped on the table, never asked us about wine or cocktails (didn't even see a list if there was one), bottle of water never was empty and never asked if we wanted another and just overall slow service. We were not in a rush so it was somewhat okay, but when my coffee came out colder than the room temperature it took a good 5 mins to see the waitress again to ask for another cup. The food was okay, but nothing got me saying 'this is great'. I like my food better, I like many other Italian dishes from other restaurants better. So this place was actually below average for me. I would not go back. The best part was taking our photo with a cut out of Frank Sinatra in the lobby.

Best Italian in Texas

By suzkool |

The Alfredo with peas and sage is by far the best I've ever ate. Great service. Over all dinning experience noteworthy. Will return.

A for effort

By Frank N |

In NYC or Chicago this restaurant wouldn’t last. 6 months. Very friendly, good service. Bright, well kept dining room. Unfortunately the food is only a notch above fast food. Portions are small, the food tastes like it came off the back of a commercial frozen food truck. Prices are moderate, but considering the portion size, they aren’t giving anything away. I’m sure this is a very successful part of the Romano chain. Would they be more successful if they actually served good food?

Food is horrible

By travelin f |

We gave this place a second try because the location is great and the decor is wonderful too. The second try was the last straw. Our salad was drenched in dressing and salt. Pretty much inedible. The eggplant rollatini was incredibly overcooked. It was black and crunchy on the bottom. The pasta with meatballs had little flavor. Service was slow and inattentive. It's a shame because it's such a great location with a beautiful view of downtown.

Not such a saint!

By Travelwellnow |

Sat at the bar on Friday night around 9pm - the place was kinda empty and staff was already starting their clean up processes. Started out with delicious zucchini chips ... Ended with watching staff grab handfuls out of the bin and shove them in their mouths! Totally grossed out!! Bartender disappeared for long periods of time while he was working on his side work to get out of there.... Very frustrating! The topper was at the end of dinner he told us we couldn't have desert because the kitchen was closed.... Are u kidding me??? I laughed in disgust and said don't seat us if you can't provide the full course experience! He came back and said they would make an exception.... Keep digging because I won't be back! The Food was decent but the antics overshadowed any hope of that shinning through!

Looks like a tourist trap but tastes better than you'd think

By ekstillman |

This place was new to me, although I love to take out of town guests to anything in Trinity Groves, just to drive across that beautiful bridge. When I saw the outside of this place, I was prepared for another Buca de Beppo type of experience. It just looks so "mama mia". Actually, the food was very good. Other reviewers had raved about the zucchini chips on the table. I did not find those rave-worthy at all. Ours tasted at least a day old. But the appetizers on the menu were much better. The burrata with prosciutto was delicious. The calamari had that proper amount of seasoning. My entrée of scallops was excellent. The scallops were huge, and properly cooked. And the polenta that they sat on was so tasty. I will be hard-pressed to order something different the next time. My husband had the rigatoni with marinara (and probably so other things in it that I don't remember). He liked it, but he prefers a thicker marinara and thought the sauce was too thing. If he can't get it to plump up on a slice of bread, it's too thin for him. Overall, I enjoyed the food and the staff, including the chef who was at the reception area when we arrived, were very gracious.

Not on point

Four people for dinner. Pasta dishes were ok, but way overpriced. Chicken Parmesan was way overdone, both of them. Sent one back for a pizza, which was actually good, but we were here for Italian dishes not pizza. The wait staff is obviously under trained as observed at our table and others. The management didn't even make an appearance after the return of the chicken parm. They really need to improve on the food quality and service before we would return to pay those prices.

Private party!!

We reserved the room upstairs for a private party. The restaurant made some delicious Italian pastas and meatballs and mozzarella cheese and tomato bites with Italian toasted bread. We had an open bar. And the spacious room was open only to our party. The wait staff and bartenders were very attentive and courteous and we had a lovely time visiting with our friends. However, the parking was crowded and the lot was dark, lit only by the surrounding skyline. The view was lovely but it is a rough part of town. There was a security guard driving around the parking lot. The restaurant was very dark including the room upstairs. But we did have a lovely evening.

Disappointing anniversary

We came to Dallas from Fort Worth and ate here for our first wedding anniversary, and it was quite a let down. My husband had called to make reservations for their top patio and talked to someone who represented themselves as a manager. He was told the top was closed for a private party, but that we could get a seat on their bottom patio, which still had a nice view. My husband was also told that a bottle of prosecco would be at our table upon arrival and a dessert for our celebration - all of this supposed to be a surprise for me. We got there and were seated outside at the entrance of the patio - extremely unromantic, loud, and uncomfortable. Neither the host or the waiter had any idea about our anniversary or any of the plans my husband had discussed with the manager. We asked to be moved to an open table more off the side - our waiter obliged, but was obviously very annoyed. After my husband asked the waiter about what he had discussed with the manager, he brought out a woman who i guess was in upper management? She began speaking VERY loudly about how they “don’t do anything for anniversaries, only birthdays” I was so embarrassed by how loud she was talking and basically treating us like we were trying to get free things are her restaurant. I repeatedly said “it’s fine, please, never mind” and she wouldn’t quit yelling about how they don’t give anything away unless it’s a birthday. My husband was horrified, especially because I wasn’t even supposed to know about any of this. Our waiter barely spoke to us, we were jealous of the people sitting by us who had other servers and were having a better experience. If we were from Dallas and knew where else to go, we would have left. However, we stayed and ate due to not knowing what else to do. I don’t even remember my meal because it was so uncomfortable and I couldn’t wait to leave. Not the way I was hoping to celebrate my first wedding anniversary.

Don't bother

Extremely disappointing excuse for Italian fare. Pasta was rubbery and sauces were bland. Flavors were in short supply. Definitely not a repeat
