Still the Best Mexican Food in Seattle

By Russ C |

Ah...the ubiquitous Mexican restaurant. Only slightly less numerous than Starbucks in some areas. But this one...this one is actually different. I’ve eaten here 3 times in the last few months since moving into the area and have yet to be disappointed. You are started with a small appetizer of flavorful chicken and crema - not your usual pile of grocery store chips and salsa. The menu has your typical items - tacos, burritos, etc - but also dishes you probably haven’t tried before. And you should try them because the ingredients and flavors are amazing. Portion size is perfect. No, they don’t give you mounds of food but you won’t go away hungry. Parking can be a challenge but it’s Queen Anne so it’s a problem regardless of where you go.

Great place for lunch

By AldebaranFlorida |

We had just flown into town, checked in at the Mediterranean Inn just a few blocks away, and wanted a mid-afternoon late lunch. Sal Y Limon was open and not busy at that time of day, so we stopped in. We ordered guacamole, fish tacos, and beef tongue tacos. All were delicious. I was especially impressed by the tongue tacos, which were very tender and seasoned perfectly. Oh, and ask for their homemade hot sauce, which is excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive. The prices were very reasonable for that area. Overall, an excellent choice!

Amazing

Amazing!! We were looking for a spot before an event at Climate Pledge and this was a great choice - queso fundido best I have had outside of Mexico - also fish tacos

Good mexican cuisine for Seattle

By Ab907 |

They had many great options. All the food our group ordered was delicious. The drinks were even better. Service was good too. The spacing in this place was pretty good - spacious. It's a two-story restaurant. Very close to our hotel.

Great place for birthday cekebration.

The food is so freah and delicious. They actually listened to special requests and seemed genuinely pleased that we were enjoying our food. Giving QA a mexican restaurant worth raving about! We will go back. Killer margaritas. Try something different, Ilegales were delicious.

Went twice

Excellent food, service and drinks. Went with a large group and they were very accommodating. We are there twice. We stayed nearby and had other options

Great Mexican Food

By Richard S |

Enjoyed the fish tacos. Service was friendly and quick, and their drinks are very good also. Worth going to!

Outstanding food and service

By JohnBTrips |

TLDR: the bacon-wrapped shrimp are amazing and worth going for, even if you eat nothing else. Both my wife and mother had just appetizers. The portions were so generous they could hardly finish and the bacon-wrapped shrimp were huge and delicious. I had the chicken fajitas which were fantastic and included carrots and mushrooms among the veggies. Unusual and delicious. We tried several of their margaritas and also a sangria, each of them were clearly made from scratch and included generous pours of liquor. No nasty pre-made mixes here. Everything they offer is made from scratch and their pride shows in their superior service.

Delicioso!

Spacious setting with a variety of great food. Very flavorful with just the right spice. Definitely recommend the Donkey Tongue!

Excellent mexican food!

Great Mexican food

By Draupnir G |

Nice place with very good Mexican food. 15 minutes walk from Space Needle and Kerry park, so it is in a great location for people sightseeing in Seattle. I will remember this place next time I'm in the area.

Great food and comfy vibe

Stopped in for drink and a bite. Fantastic margaritas, and the nachos, flautas and burrito were all superb. Service and vibe were top notch. We’ll be back!

Great Mexican food and service

By jawms |

Stopped in here impulsively for a late-ish lunch on Sunday afternoon. At first I wondered if it was a mistake because there were only 4 people, all sitting at the bar. 3 big screens were playing a horse race, another sport, and a Mexican travel show. My concerns were quickly allayed. We were offered the lunch and dinner menus. They also brought us a complimentary small chicken tostada and offered to make a vegetarian one if we were vegetarian. It was yummy. We asked to share fajitas from the dinner menu for our lunch. We were served a huge platter and they brought small plates and paper napkins for us - the tables were set with cloth napkins. The fajitas were excellent. Chicken and so many veggies, including peppers, onions, mushrooms, carrots, and broccoli, plus rice, beans, guacamole, and sour cream. We each had 2 tasty corn tortillas stuffed with filling and there were enough leftovers for 1 person’s lunch! When we asked for a box they also offered more tortillas to take home. All of the above for under $20, plus great service. While we were there quite a few more people came in, including some who were native Spanish-speakers, indicating the food is as authentic as it seemed. We will definitely be regulars.

Top Notch

By Gary A |

My family discovered this place by accident as we had come to get Udon at Obasan only to find it had closed down. Disappointed, we looked across the street at this vibrant place and asked, “What’s that?” We found out. It’s an outstanding restaurant putting out top of the line food in a cool, vibrant but casual setting. I had a lunch burrito that was just fantastic. Highly recommend!

Absolute Mexican Gem

By Keith McKague |

Fantastic service, amazing margaritas, and the food was wonderful. Likely the best meal on our Seattle trip. The Enchilada Del Mar was so good and unique.

Good break from walking

By Dan M |

Stopped in for a snack and a drink while walking back to Queen Anne. Well laid out place, very bright and airy. They had Dos Equis on draft which made me very happy. Was going to snack on some free chips and salsa but they don’t provide those, just some baby chalupas. Good concept, but they had meat so we had to pass. Not happy buying chips and salsa but that changed after they arrived. Several salsas and pico plus a generous serving of guacamole. The charred salsa was like my home and super tasty. The couple we were with loved their meals.

Delicious Mexican cuisine, best ever

By Malcolm M |

Absolutely authentic Mexican food. We travel all over, and this place hit it out of the park for Mexican cuisine. Very reasonable price and awesome food. We I'll definitely return. Oh by the way, Margaritas are amazing too.

Nice Latinx place in Downton SEA.

By thiawroane |

When they started with a tostino, I knew it would be good. The vibe was young and fresh, but family-friendly. Food was excellent and fulfilling. Biggest challenge was parking. Lots of paid parking in the area. But a cold walk to/from the restaurant.

good Mexican food!

By Barbara K |

So happy this restaurant is in our neighborhood! We had been here for lunch, but the dinner menu has many more choices. My Ultimate Margarita was good, love that they don't give you a straw, so you get the salt. With the shaker, it's a big drink! I had Green Posole, which was great, so flavorful! There was confusion, though, because the menu said pork, but the waiter told us he thought the green had chicken. I ordered it anyway, and was disappointed that it wasn't pork. Apparently there are some discrepancies with the menu and the food, so ask questions and listen to your waiter! Hubby had the Seafood Enchilada, which he loved, very creamy. We also ordered a caesar salad, to have a vegetable, and it was really good, and large enough to easily split. Service was really good, thoughtful, and friendly. It also wasn't too loud, like so many places are now. I look forward to many more dinners here!

Hot new Mexican restaurant for theater goers

By Mauri S |

Just opened a week and I love it! It replaced the old 10 Mercer. They serve lunch and dinner, but their lunch menu includes breakfast items. On weekends they have posada and menudo, for the real Mexican cuisine afficionados. The Happy Hour menu (3-6) includes ceviche (!) and street tacos. The wait staff and bartender are terrific: professional and friendly. On top of everything, the music is modern Latino... great atmosphere. Owner has two other local restaurants, in Monroe and Woodinville. He actually graduated from Monroe High School! Great new local place!

Authentic Mexican in Seattle

By PNWFan |

We love Cactus in Kirkland but I have to say that with Sal y Limón they have a tough competitor. The ceviche is so good and their margaritas are the best in town. Definitely a top Mexican restaurant in the area

Would recommend!!!

By Marilyn R |

Fabulous lunch! Ultimate Margarita and Blood Orange Margarita were so tasty and made perfectly, ceviche was fresh and spot on and veggie fajitas were delicious!! Service was friendly and efficient, thank you for a wonderful lunch!!!

Everything was AMAZING

By Pamela M |

We found this gem because we had just come our from McCaw Hall and we were not disappointed. I am super picky with Mexican food. I can’t stand a restaurant that messed up either the rice or beans. Those are no-brainers. Sal y Limón has mint mango margaritas to die for! Super yummy. Could not order more because I have overeaten with the nacho plate. The meat (picadillo) was INCREDIBLE. The portion was generous. The guacamole and the nachos were so delicious. My boyfriend ordered the carne asada…. The meat was so tender and tasty! The rice and beans were both amazing. We even got a small tostada before we ordered. The ambiance is beautiful and waiters are fast. I loved everything about this place.

Great spot for some Mexican food

By MikeyTravel |

Great food, lively atmosphere, fast and friendly service, and reasonably priced. We got some tamales, and margaritas. Everything was really good.

Loved this place

By BruinsPatsSox |

From the ceviche to the Camarones En Ajo to the Molcajete, this place rocked. Service was fantastic, and the great personal touch added by maitre d Alexis and our bartender made it a very enjoyable time. And the space is great, too, with big exposed steel beams and an open but intimate feel. The food was so good I wished I could have tried more things on the menu. The portions were large; great value there, too. Loved everything about this place.

¡Que Delicioso!

This spot was around the corner from my digs on a recent trip. I stopped by for happy hour after a long, brisk day of walking. My margarita was just right. The 3 salsas with chips and guacamole was first rate. The green sauce was refreshing with cucumber, avocado and cilantro. The red was smoky and earthy, but with a kick. Cabbage enlivened the pico de gallo, wgile the guacamole was just spicy enough to surprise. Being from L.A., I always like to try Mexican cuisine elsewhere, and this place is top notch. Great service, too.

Great food and margaritas

By Stmirli |

Yum! The margaritas are great, as we worked our way through several during Happy Hour. They have some bar snacks from 4-6pm that work well well with tequila. For dinner, we tried the mole and carne asada-both delicious. Very pleased with our choice while in the Queen Anne district.

What a WONDERFUL experience!

The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious. All of the ingredients seem to be fresh. Eating here was like a party in my mouth! I can't wait to go back!

Authentic Mexican Food with Fresh Ingredients

By loret52 |

My initial thought when I heard that a new Mexican restaurant was taking over the former (beloved) Ten Mercer was...just what we don't need. This would make the fifth Mexican establishment near Seattle Center. However, Sal y Limon is different from your typical Mexican offerings in the area. The food was authentic and fresh. The green ceviche was particularly tasty as was a main course of prawns on top of mixed vegetables, including mushrooms and beans, topped with cactus, a bit of cheese, and a variety of other tasty delights. I enjoyed a house Manhattan during happy hour for $5 that was quite good. Service was efficient and staff was pleasant. One of the things I liked best about Sal y Limon was that it was not noisy. My husband and I could actually converse and hear each other!

Not your average Mexican Restaurant

By Gay N |

Everything about our meal was wonderful. Service was perfect. This is a unique and eclectic space with a two-story bar serving as a amazing focal point. We loved this restaurant.

Unassuming gem of a restaurant

By MashPotatoes |

Low-key Mexican place, big liquor selection, couple of TVs on the walls but not really a sports bar per se. Everything we tried was amazing - from the drinks, to the tortilla chips, to the entrees. Mole was awesome. Prices reasonable for Seattle. Highly recommend.

Great Mexican

By Gene M |

Great food. Good service. Clean. Reasonable portion sizes. I’m tough on restaurants and for me to give a place a good review is rare.

Nice surprise.

By 38th&Noriega |

Big shoes to fill replacing 10 Mercer. They did it. The margaritas are excellent, my cheese enchilada verde was really tasty and the service was pleasant and attentive. A don’t miss option near the Seattle Center.

What a fantastic find!

By Scotch65 |

We found this restaurant after leaving another nearby Mexican restaurant due to horrible service. I am so glad we found this place as we still wanted Mexican food. We were a party of 4 and were treated to pleasant service, fantastic margaritas, and spectacular food. We had 4 different dishes and we all raved about them. If you want the best Mexican food in Queen Anne area or possibly even the city then come here - it will not disappoint.

What a great find

By IreneF3200 |

The food was fantastic! I had Mexican Stir Fry neutron substituted Shrimp for the Chicken. What a taste explosion and felt so good to eat some greens for a change. Both our meals were amazing. Having been in the US for a month now and adapting to US style and size meals, this was the first where we both cleaned our plates. Now re the Margaritas? I could have stayed quite easily just drinking Margaritas. Wish we were going to be here longer for a return visit

Best Mexican in Seattle

By Abigail B |

When this place first opened a few months ago we were very pleased with the exceptional service and amazing food! We literally went there 2 times a week. If want the perfect meal, order an ultimate margarita, ceviche and the bacon wrapped shrimp. You shouldn’t be disappointed!

Amazing Visit!

By Daniel |

Amazing Visit to this little gem in Seattle! Delicious food and drinks, excellent service and catered to our needs. Thank you for a lovely experience, we can’t wait to return!

Absolutly tasteless mexican food.

By zigsready |

Nice staff and the service was fast but the food really bland. Ordered Tamales De Rajas and burrito flaco. It all sounded good when you read the menu but there was no flavor whatsoever in the tamales. The burrito was slightly better but mainly consisted of rice and beans and not much else. If you're in the neighborhood and want a mexican meal go to Pesos for a bit of flavor.

Must visit

By Mark Buckingham |

Had lunch, fantastic, great experience, friendly staff. A must visit if you are in the Seattle area.

Good food and service

By MJ S |

First time there and I’m glad my friend suggested it. The food was so good. Quick and friendly staff. Within walking distance to the Seattle Center. Will be stopping by again when I am in Seattle.

Mmmmm, mmmmm good!

By Cheryl M |

So good! Ate here one night pre-cruise, it was so good, we took a later shuttle to the ship so we could eat here again before boarding our cruise! Great food and great service, we'll definitely come back!

Great flavors!

By Marie B |

Sal y Limon has a terrific happy hour. The nachos, as simple as nachos are, are absolutely delicious. They start off each table with a little amuse bouche which is a pleasant surprise. The hh menu for both food and drink is generous. Actual meals are a treat. They are not the usual sauce slathered meals with mushy refried beans and rice. Instead, the sauces reveal a complex mix of chilies, tomatoes, and spices. They are light and complementary to the fine cuts of meat. Add to all this their house made tortillas and fluffy rice, and these meals are a prize. Finally, service is excellent. The waitstaff is so knowledgeable and pleasant. They really make you feel welcome. Definitely a place to keep visiting.
