Quick lunch service

By Michael R |

Quick lunch service by attentive staff. The foods was above average with a reasonable lunch menu. Quiet enough to conduct business discussions.

Good for a Change with wide selection

By Michael R |

We had a small company lunch here, a good selection for everyone to choose from, reasonable priced, staff accommodated the group well (11).

Great Place for Steaks, Burgers, or Happy Hour in NW Austin

By LK R |

We eat at this Salt Grass several times a year, and even hosted a rehearsal dinner party here. Their steaks are excellent, from rib eyes to sirloin, and love the Prime Rib. It's become our "go to" spot for steak in Austin. It's a great happy hour place or "girls' night out" spot to, with very good drink specials. Service has always been good, and even when crowded (such as on a weekend night), they are efficient. One downside is that there is only a small waiting area, but on a nice evening you can sit outside. One complaint... on a recent visit, even though there were many other tables available, my husband and I were walked back to the last table, that is crowded in right at the entrance to the rest room hall. Of course, we declined that table. They really should just remove that table. (Just say "no thank you".) Also you can join the Landry's Dining "club" and get points at this and maybe 15 or so other restaurants. Since we go to Houston "Landry's " restaurants too, we get a complimentary meal about twice a year.

When in Texas...

By Ian S |

Travelled over thanksgiving accompanying my wife on a work trip. The food was excellent. I went for the Prime rib that was just melt in the mouth and my wife sampled the bacon wrapped filet which she was said was good but not as good as the rib. Watch out for the margarita cocktail with the upturned Dos Equis beer in it!

Best Ribeye

By sher808 |

My wife and I went to eat the 12oz rib-eye steak which comes with one side, soup or salad and all you can eat beer bread for $21.99. The steak was very moist and tasty. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The Chicken tortilla soup and the steak soup is also good. However if you have space for desert, the cookie+brownie+ice cream is also a excellent choice.

Tasty and good service

By Michael R |

Very good steaks and Prime, fresh bread and pleasant service. Recent addition of seasonal Pumpkin Cheesecake if you have room left.

Superior Service, Excellent food, and relaxing dinner

By BronteReed |

We have eaten at several Saltgrass Steakhouses over the last few months, including those in Dallas and San Antonio; the service at this location was superb and far-surpassed those others. We were seated quickly and the staff checked on us frequently, including the manager. The food was excellent as well and was delivered quickly and was fresh and hot. Our server, Casey, was always checking to make sure that we were having a good meal. He was one of the better servers that we've had in many years. The manager was also making sure that every guest table was quickly served and satisfied. Overall, we highly recommend this location. One recommendation, the chicken fried steak is large enough to share for 2 adults.

Must have been a "Short Staff" Day

By RMDean3 |

Visited on a late afternoon (Sunday) about 1830 with a party of six(6). Unhappy with initial table offering (near the kitchen and/or near front door - both high traffic areas! Minimal wait for satisfactory seating; but took forever to get a server to the table. Apologized for "short staff", etc. Drink orders completely wrong (three sweet-tea "Arnold Palmers" came unsweetened; MAKES A DIFFERENCE!. Took awhile for the food orders to come with one entree (prime rib) really undercooked . . . . it had to be sent back (another while). All in all a bad experience; NOT the corporate brand experience we have had at there Saltgrass properties. I certainly expect better next time for me and/or others.

Great Steaks

By Thomas G |

Excellent steaks. Service was very good as well. We got the two-fork cheesecake for dessert and couldn't finish it between the two of us.

Chain Steakhouse Experience

By NorCalGoyo |

Better than Outhouse (err, Outback) but not the quality of Ruth's Chris or even Texas Road House. It was very loud in the dining room due to one large party (WHY DO PEOPLE THINK THEY CAN SHOUT AND WHOOP AND HOLLER WHEN THEY GO OUT?) The steak and the sides were adequate but nothing really special. On the other hand, Brian, our server, was very attentive and helpful.

Great food, great service!

By jhvh |

Great food! The tenderloin tips with mashed potatoes are the best I ever tasted. The sweet potato fries and shrimps kept my 3 year old on her seat. My husband just can't stop hmmmm with the bread and steak too! And the service, is home style :)

Good food, questionable service

By Ken D |

Took my wife to Saltgrass Steakhouse on US 183 for her birthday. We like to split the porterhouse steak and add a salad and side. Food was a little slow considering the time of day and the small number of customers. I have been a Saltgrass patron at one of the original locations in Houston and both Austin locations. The food is always very good and this visit was no exception. Price is average for a decent steakhouse but not cheap. Service this time was not up to my standards, I got no tea refill and he failed to check back on our needs.

The Secret Ingredient is in the Name

By D-Day04 |

In my travels to and through Austin, I have always wanted to eat at Saltgrass as it beckons the hungry as one passes by on the elevated 183. Had the opportunity to do so on a Friday evening last August. While the service was very good and the cocktails were excellent, the steak itself was average at best. Like its accompanying potato, the entree leaned heavily to the salted side. Perhaps this explains why the drinks tasted so fine. Likewise, the salad and appetizer were nothing to crow about. I forget what we ordered for an appetizer and I cannot recall my cut of steak, but to me, this indicates a dinner that is not memorable. Would I return? Yes. It might have been the Friday night rush as the place was crowded, but if and when I go back, I will advise my waiter to tell the chef to go easy on the salt. Had no problem with grass however.

Good service, ok food

By TravelTrooper1026 |

Our steaks were undercooked, but redone right. Mixed reviews on taste, good but not awesome. Service started out slow, but over the course of the night greatly improved.

Would not visit this restaurant again

By Poppie123186338 |

Have been to many Saltgrass steakhouse, by far this is the worst, service is non existent, waited for over half an hour to get served, plenty of staff walking around. The place is chaos. Will never visit again.

Very good and consistent

By TXDave55 |

You always know what you'll get at Saltgrass. Very good food and excellent service. The bread they bring out before your meal is great, the wedge salad is fantastic and I love their chicken fried steak.

Along the Best of the Chain Steakhouses.

By ThomasCarrera |

We have eaten at multiple Saltgrass Steakhouse locations and been very happy with the quality of the food. This evening was no exception. Easily at the top of the volume chain places, the menu and quality is much better than the rest. The price is a bit high for this type of restaurant and this particular location appeared more run down than the usual Saltgrass site but the food quality always satisfies. When I see a Saltgrass nearby I always forget about whatever other place I was heading to

Good place for delicious food.

By Tim L |

Arriving for a late lunch we were quickly seated and Delanah was our server. Our orders were soon delivered and very flavorful.

Ticked the box

By John P |

Roomy and pleasant atmosphere. Cheery staff and a relaxed vibe. Wholesome good food cooked to perfection. Will not disappoint.

FABULOUS BIRTHDAY REWARD!

By Darlene H |

My husband and I went to the Saltgrass in Bee Cave to use my birthday reward on a Saturday evening. I really enjoyed my Filet and Loaded BaKed Potato My husbands Rib Eye was perfect (actually more flavorful than mine!) We got a piece of delicious Carrot Cake and enjoyed later in the evening. I highly recommend the homemade desserts - they are scrumptious!

Lunch Visit

By rboykins71 |

Stopped by for Sunday lunch. M.K. was a great server. I ordered soup and salad. They messed up the salad, but they were quick to fix it. Great food and location. Will definitely go back.

Incredible service for a large group

By Mathtravel |

We were a group of 30+ women enjoying a get together for the start of school in the private dining area and we were all talking at the same time. The wait staff was incredible. Our orders were taken and delivered correctly as were our bills which were given out in the correct order without any fumbling. Lunch was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our yearly outing. Thanks to all.

Great restaurant for that special Occasion!

By Ello0491 |

Our family enjoyed a pleasant gathering and very lunch; it was an excellent experience. Our server, Amanda N, is excellent; very attentive and professional. Saltgrass offers a wide variety on their menu; our family consisted of four children, 12 to 18 and four adults. Everyone found their perfect meal and although the portions were large nothing was left; everyone said their meal was excellent. We were seated near the fireplace, which provided a nice quiet atmosphere. It was a long rectangular table. I would prefer a round table; however, their largest round table only seats six. Saltgrass is one of the few excellent steakhouses that will split a meal in the kitchen and provides carafes of tea and/or water on the table; however, I never had a chance to use it myself, since Amanda made certain our glasses were full. Saltgrass also offer 10% discounts for AAA membership cards. Also, ask about their Landry’s Select Club; I found it to be one of the best in the restaurant and hotel industry.

Good

We ordered from the early dining menu and we were very pleased. The country fried steak was my favorite. The prices were Rey.

Not the Steak House Standard you would expect in Texas!!

By SenateBean |

Our visit was on a Sunday night and was a farewell dinner for family and friends. Restaurant was clean and laid out well. The server, Maddie H was polite and attended to the table well. Our dinner consisted of Queso & Brisket appetizer, 12 oz New York Strip and both the 12 & 16 oz Rib-eye. Queso & Brisket appetizer was very good, just the right amount. The beer on tap was ice cold and refreshing. The steaks were good quality and were cooked correctly. Unfortunately, they destroyed the Rib-eyes with way too much salt. It was overpowering and took away from the experience. The fried onions were limp and not crispy at all. Overall wasn't bad but just didn't meet the "Bigger, Better In Texas" expectations.

Delish!!

By Deelightfuljoy |

Food was awesome , I would highly recommend Saltgrass if your craving an awesome meal! My first time to eat there was great. The food was amazing , excellent waitstaff - over all awesome place to get a steak , salad , drinks etc!!

Service was Excellent

By LadyZ06 |

Even being a chain restaurant this is a great place to dine. The menu is full of variety, steaks were cooked to perfection, and the service was excellent without feeling you were being hovered over or rushed.

Round Rock location is the BEST!

By DKinaustin |

There's 2 of these where I live, the Austin location one is way too small and you can smell cigarette smoke on some of the employ's (my biggest pet peeved). The other one in Round Rock is much better and much bigger, with interesting decor. The steaks and chicken choices are very good, the sides and dessert are excellent. There's a bit of a wait between 5-7 pm on weekend nights but I never have waited more than 10 minutes. The Rib eyes are the best I have ever had.

Had a discount membership, Never returning

By Rick W |

Bad service on last three visits in a row. All they are interested in is turning tables over. I'll eat at home.

Service needs

By hornet50 |

Several years ago when in San Antonio, we ate at the Salt grass there. It was excellent, so when we saw this restaurant near our hotel we were excited. That is where it went down hill. No reservations, my bad, just come and wait. We could handle that. Took us 5 minutes and 2 waitstaff to get 2 iced teas. Bread was good but served with honey butter. Salad was fresh, with a good collection of ingredients. Our ribs eyes were cooked just right, but were topped with a big glob of butter, I felt like I was at IHOP. And our baked potstoes were...... old. That is the only word for it. Not white and fluffy, but gray looking, covered with cheese and bacon, which i was not told about and did not want. I waited for my waiter to come back to see about a substitute but it was almost 10 minutes By then a lot of my steak was eaten so I turned down the offer of anotner potato. Then we had to wait to get our bill. We saw our waiter sitting at a near by table, with his back to us. We are not into finger snapping or whistling so we waited. My husband finally got up and found the host and told him we needed our check . The waiter saw this and came to our table. We told the host about the uneaten potato, how bad it was. He offered another potato but we were ready to go. Honestly neither the host or waiter seemed very concerned about our disappointment. On our way back to our hotel we decided that a Texas Roadhouse would have been a much better choice. I am really sorry. We had such high hopes.

Good place to eat a little expensive for my pocket

By bryanmantezoni |

This place has delicious warm bread, the ice teas are good, and the stakes are prepared to perfection including the baked potatoes but I have to admit that the place is a little expensive, customer service is great, clean restrooms and I highly recommend anybody to come and check it out

Very good food

By Meisterx |

Unfortunately, I did not get a steak at this steakhouse. My bad. Oh well, the Chicken Laredo that I did order was excellent. My wife ordered Chicken Austin and hers was excellent also. Our server, Christopher, was attentive and helpful. Next time... STEAK!

Great early dinners

By shrambo |

Sat at the bar, got great service and great lower-priced early dinners to choose from. Had a steak and shrimp dinner that was delicious and just the right portion. Good happy hour drink prices as well

This is an average restaurant.

By TacomaTRD |

We were seated at a table that was out in the open. There was a continual flow of people squeezing around our chairs so we were constantly moving in to let staff and guests move by. This arrangement is not customer friendly. The waiter introduced himself and spent a more time trying to sell us on the Landry’s Loyalty Card than explain questions on the menu. He efforts were fair but not overly attentive, let’s say average service. He brought out some bread and butter which was very tasty. One waitress picked up a large tray of food, squeezed by our table. She was carrying it where a dish of Mac and cheese was right against her hair. Her hair was literally in the food. Poor people who received this plate. Once our food came it was good and fresh. I had a dinner salad, Salmon, and..well Mac and cheese. It was all good and the Mac and cheese was awesome. Luckily mine had no issues of hair that I know of. Overall a fair experience. I would not recommend this restaurant over any other in its category. It’s just average.

You will want to return.

Saltgrass (Saltgrass Steak House - Austin TX 10614 Research Boulevard) is one of our favorites in town. We go there several times a year for special occasions. As a member of Landry Select Club my wife gets 25 points on her birthday which translates into $25 off of the dinner check. So that was the occasion of our latest visit. It was Sunday noon but I believe that we used the Dinner menu. Their steaks are normally very good and tender. This time I ordered the Top Sirloin steak and shrimp (it was the special for the day) and would have liked the steak to have been more tender. Perhaps it is the cut of meat but others in the party ordered the same and found theirs tender, so mine was the exception. So I will keep that in mind for next time. In the past I have ordered prime rib and have never been disapointed! The salads at Saltgrass are very good and even the Dinner salad that come with the meal has plenty in it. As a side, I had mashed potatoes - very tasty. The service at Saltgrass is usually superb. The one (Kat) who took our order brought a soda refill automatically when the glass was almost empty whic was good but she could have been more attentive. When my wife wanted her steak (Maudeen’s Center-Cut Filet) a little more done it was handled expeditiously and the result was just as she wanted and it was tender as expected. At other visits a manager would come by to see how things were going but not this time. Don't know why not - the place was not that busy when we came in. Be sure to have room on your credit card - entrees $17.99 and up (mostly and up) and some with chicken slightly less. There is a good selection of Appetizers so you should be able to find something you like. Since the Shiner Bock Beer Bread (always very good) comes out right away you might not want an appetizer. We did not have any mixed/bar drinks this time but at other times they were superb. They do cute things such as the serving the mixed drink in a mason jar that you can take with you, if you like.

Brilliant!!

By rmmb73 |

Great place! Good atmosphere and food excellent. Try the crab, avocado and tomato the starter for $12. Had a beautiful steak, going back for the T bone in a couple of days!! Highly recommended and good value

Good Prime Rib

By DavidP404 |

Wife had prime rib and she said it was very good. I had the shrimp and it was fair at best. Bread was just OK. Good service and atmosphere.

Good, but not s good as I remember

By yorosey |

Been many years since my last visit to a Saltgrass. It was ok, but no where near what I remembered it being. I will say there cheesecake is still great, and I don't really even like cheesecake.

Great Steaks and nice happy hours

By Elisha K |

You always get a good generous portion prepared exactly as you desire here. We decided to sit at the bar, good drink specials for happy hour and fast service. Parking is a little cramped when the restaurant is hopping, but you can enter either off Research Blvd or the back street and thus get in & out easily any time of day.

Pricey but high quality food

By Denise D |

We go to Saltgrass occasionally for a night-out dinner. The quality of the food is always exceptional - steaks are done just right, chicken/pork dishes are fully cooked yet juicy, etc. However, be prepared to pay almost twice as much as any other chain restaurant.

Casual familiar chain

By Michael R |

Steak, seafood and other basics with consistent quality across locations. Special orders not a problem. Separate area for meetings and groups.

Sunday dinner

By ScottF488 |

Saltgrass has the best prime rib available in our part of town. It is mouthwatering and delicious. Our only problem was we ordered plain butter for the bread - sugared buttered arrived, sent it back and then we got cinnamon butter. Sent that back and got garlic butter. Finally the manager brought us plain frozen butter. Then we got our fully loaded baked potato and they used garlic butter again. So, definitely request plain butter in the beginning and be prepared to be disappointed.

Busiest Time for Austin... yet incredible service.

By Carrie M |

I've grown content to just get good food post pandemic. Service on the other hand is a delight when you encounter it these days. Marissa and her teammates were off the chain with hospitality and attentiveness to details on such a busy eclipse and CMT's weekend!!! WELL DONE!!!

Better Steak at Texas Roadhouse

By Scottslady |

We went for my birthday and the food was good, however I feel you can get a better steak and cheaper steak at Texas Roadhouse. We had the 6 oz filet and chicken fried steak. Filet was over cooked. Chicken Fried Steak was huge and very good. Service was good.

Wonderful service and food!

By MAOsborne |

Stopped in after a long day at the Austin Zoo with family. Arrived around 5pm and was seated immediately. Service was very good, waiter was very attentive. Every thing we ordered was cooked perfectly. Price was as expected for a steakhouse and we'll worth it.

Take Your Eyes Off the Game & Focus on Steak!!was perfect?

By David M |

Unlike many "steak houses", that specialize in numerous screens of sports games, Saltgrass gets your focus on really, really good food. The decor is cattle drive cowboy, with lots of cowboy artifacts and large wall murals of Texas pioneer days. The company history on the menu is quite interesting - a bit of Texas history. We enjoyed our meal: a divine appetizer called the Crab Stack (unfortunately off the menu for November) see the photo. Two of us shared a perfectly prepared Porterhouse steak, broccoli ,macaroni and cheese. The macncheese was baked and delicious, far from ordinary. Did I say the steak was perfect? Yes indeed!! As good or better than the finest places in Austin. At popular mealtimes, reservations are suggested but not necessary. The service was friendly and professional. A nice wine list and drink selection, but we didn't partake. Comfortable, a little noisy in a nice way. A very good value - We will definitely return.

Just right

By Drew1122 |

After a string of recent dining and travel disasters, I'm happy to report a very positive experience at this location. The food prepared correctly and tasted great. Top that off with great service and the entire experience was worth mentioning that I would come back here again.

What a surprise

By Kelly M |

I don’t usually like chain restaurants, but this was fabulous right from the start! Pineapple margarita was tasty, my rib eye steak was fabulous and the pecan bread pudding was amazing!! Will return the next time I’m in the area!

Has a high fan base but not up to my standard

By Dudley H |

I dined here for chicken fried steak. As a Texas steak house the chicken fried steak plate should have been the best of the best. It fell short. However the salad was very good.

Dinner with family

By Highwayfinds |

Wonderful evening meal with family. We ordered ribs and shrimp, and sirloin steak as our meals, absolutely delicious. The bread is okay, kind of tasteless. Good salad with meal. Staff was very friendly at greeting us at the door, liked the feel inside, very friendly and spacious. However our waiter Matthew was as unfriendly, and curt, to the point of almost rude as can be. Brought our ticket before we were finished, gathered up my husbands plate when we stood to leave in front of him blocking his way, no excuse me, just hurry and leave was his attitude. Maybe it was because we just ordered ice water to drink which seemed to annoy him?? But we will return to Saltgrass because the food is Really good, we will just choose a different location.

Quail No Longer Served!

By Robert A |

Great service especially by Casey but so disappointing to find quail was removed from the menu! No need for me to go back! I can get a good steak anywhere but not quail! It was unbelievable. No need for me to return.

Food great, but the price is high

By pcm751 |

We have gone to Salt Grass on occasion, and found the food to be very good. The steaks are always done to perfection, and the other food items are equally well fixed and presented, with various side dishes just as satisfying. Unfortunately, this place is so expensive that we can only visit it occasionally. Be prepared for about $45-$50 for dinner for 2, without any wine/drinks.

Great lunch

By bridget f |

The last time we dined at a Salt Grass was in 2009 in Colorado. Delicious then, delicious this time in Austin. We went at lunch time. We enjoyed the frozen cokes with Crown Royal. Those would be too easy to drink on a hot day! The service was excellent, except for the hostess. We waited 5min. for her to appear at the stand. Then she acted like she was being put upon to do her job. Our waiter, however did an excellent job.

Saltgrass is a popular steak

By mr_larry_smith |

Saltgrass is a popular steak house. The location has easy access and the venue is fun. The menu is classic steak house. The place was packed but Our service was excellent and food very good. The rating was lowered because my meal was not served as shown on the menu. I ordered a steak smothered in butter, mushrooms and onions. There was some butter but no mushrooms or onions. Disappointing.

Great Steaks

By John G |

Filet Mignon was excellent. Sides were okay, but slightly undercooked.. overall a bit pricey considering what you got. Wine list provided a lot of options. Server was attentive, but a tad bit disappointing considering we were from out of country.

Decent food and service

By Charles H |

I was one of a party of about 20 people. We were seated in a private room and had two waitstaff members attending. I had a ribeye which tasted good but was a little tough and had more fat than I expect a ribeye to have. The problem: When in a large group, I expect to have a gratuity added. Normally that is 18%. Saltgrass added 20%. However the 20% was figured after tax which makes the tip 21.6% on the food service. Then when I got my bill there was a request to tip again. This is not a fault of the server but the fault of management. 1) a tip is for good service and should not be requested 2) suggesting a percentage or even worse telling me what a certain percentage equals (which Saltgrass did not do) implies that I am incapable of simple math. I tip but I tip based on the service I receive. Please don't ask for more after you have already added 21.6%

a brilliant restaurant

By MustafaGurcan |

I went to this restaurant at the end of a week long business trip and arrived just before 7:00 pm. The restaurant was full and there were a lot of people queuing outside. They gave me a place at their bar and advised me that I was able to order items selected from the main menu. I ordered a starter and main dish with salad and drinks. The service was excellent and the bar attender was great to make your dinner a delightful occasion. The atmosphere was great and it was a great place to chill out before taking a long flight back home.

Consistent and goid

By Michael R |

The steak and fish are consistently good, staff is always friendly, and prices are reasonable. Meeting/ group room available.

Looking for a great steak dinner

By Edgy247 |

Went there on a weeknight, called in reservation. We were able to get seated right away. It took a long time to get our orders in, the dinning room was busy and it was our waiter's first night for working in that restaurant. I was expecting to get a steak that was just like one that I had at the Arlington location. I was disappointed that it didn't measure up to what I had expected from the brand.

Pretty good for a chain restaurant

By Bill B |

My wife and I ate here at the suggestion of our daughter, who lives in Austin. We had a great experience, the food was good, as was the drinks. I think I will try to go there again when in the area to visit

Lunch surprise

By Debby L |

Leaving Austin we started to Chuys but people waiting outside to get in at 1pm.. so went to Salt grass Steak. SO glad we did too. Ate a chicken fried steak, fries and salad. Rest ate sirloin and WoW. Only thing wish they'd cut back on amount of fries and give you a salad without charging extra. Food was great.

Great taste!

By yesenia |

you can smell the food from outside the restaurant. Greta atmosphere. Excellent recommendation from host. I had steak and cake, mu husband got the biggest steak in house!. excellent house beer! i will come back !!!!

Melt in your mouth!

By Dustie U |

Excellent Filet Mignon with Blue Cheese butter! Melt in your mouth! The fun teas are good too. Everyone was happy with their various meals.

Family Favorite

By NTSU1975 |

We have eaten at this location on numerous occasions. Don't know why, but I somehow miss the entrance to this place sometimes. So, turn in sooner than later. Wait staff rotates as time goes by, but we have always found the more engaging you are, the more fun your visit will turn out. Steaks are usually our choice, and the ladies always prefer a filet which they never complain about. I have found their shrimp, BBQ, and chicken dishes to be good as well.

No knife needed!

By James S |

We were there at a time which allowed us to order from the ”Lunch” menu. This time I ordered BBQ Pork Ribs. I ordered the mashed potatoes as the side and added a Caesar salad, extra. The ribs were, indeed, fall-off-the-bone so no knife was needed - just poke around with a fork and enjoy. Occasionally a hunk needed to be broken into smaller pieces for daintiness but that was easy. I thought the taste was excellent. The sauce was flavorful and nicely crispy in places. The Caesar salad is always good at Saltgrass. I don't usually order coffee but did this time at the start. It was OK, not a memorable flavor (blend) but also not bitter or too strong either. Cup was kept full during the meal. She ordered the Steak and Shrimp (grilled) with mashed potatoes and tortilla soup. Oddly enough, the soup was not not enough when served and Shayla took it back to heat it up. She said that the warmer was inexplicably unplugged, so perhaps other patrons later did not experience cold soup. Medium was specified for how to cook the steak and it was done precisely that way when served. The shrimp were declared ”perfect” neither undercooked nor overcooked. All in all this was a wonderful experience, served by Shayla, and the Landry's Club reward made it even better.

Excellent food and service

By Lv2rdtrip |

We went to Saltgrass for our anniversary. It has a casual atmosphere, very Texan, but the service was like going to a Morton's or Ruth's Chris. Very attentive staff, from the busboys to the waiter, the manager even came out to ensure our steaks were cooked properly, which they were. Excellent steaks and the sweet potatoes melt in your mouth. It was so good I took my Dad to the San Antonio Saltgrass when he came to visit and the service and food quality was the same even in a different city. This will be a regular restaurant for us!

Great food and service

By mayatree |

We stopped here for dinner one night. The service was excellent and we didn't mind a short wait in the bar area. As usual, the food at Saltgrass is good and our steaks were delicious.

Nice dinner

By Paul4093 |

Even though it was a saturday evening our wait was only about 15 min rather than the 25 they said when we got there. Our waiter Logan was as attentive as needed. The food was great, I had the Pats small ribeye which was excellent my wife had the coconut shrimp which was also excellent. She also had the baked sweet potato which was very good also. Overall, a really nice dinner. I

Bee Cave, Austin- Request Server Vaughan

By AN S |

Went to The SaltGrass at Bee Cave tonight for our NYE dinner. Vaughan was our server, and did a phenomenal job. Very attentive, caring, and professional. The Chicken Laredo and Prime Rib were on point. Cooked perfectly and went well with the house red wine! Thanks Vaughan for a great experience!

Outright good food.

By Kelly B |

The steaks and the seafood were fresh and well-prepared. Even the pickiest eater can find something they'll love here. The service was outstanding. Even if your waiter was busy, the other waiters were ready to clear the table or get you another drink right away. I loved their Sangria. What we didn't know is that they have early dinner specials between the hours of 4 and 6. Portions were good and we took food back to our rental.

Awesome grub

By Stephen M |

Never ever a bad meal here!! From the ribeye to the prime rib, all good. I recommend Pat's ribeye, Texas fries, and the brownie Sunday!! So so gooooood

A Very Good Reasonably Priced Steakhouse in Austin

By David_Cominole |

I really like this restaurant! My family and I enjoyed Christmas dinner here. It was one of the few restaurants open on Christmas. The service was excellent, and the food was of top quality. It was also reasonably priced. The menu had a variety of steak, chicken and salad selections in different price ranges. The noise level was not objectionable, and the restaurant was completely full. I would not hesitate to dine there again.

Very Good Steak

By M109A7ce |

Ordered the Cajun sirloin steak and everything was well prepared and tasted great. The bread seemed to be baked fresh but taste was ok. Service was very good but a little over enthusiastic, almost as wanting to rush things along. Overall great food and service; would return.

Steak lovers...this a decent place...

Been here sometime in Nov 15. Lovely ambiance, good patient staff, most of all good steak, tried the US Prime, was awesome. Have a good choice of cocktails. Thoroughly enjoyed this.

The food was absolutely great. Had the fillet and it was so tender. Everyone at the table enjoyed all their food. The drink offers were very good, they have a really good white sangria. Our waiter was beyond awesome, his name was Dorcus(it is from the Bible). There were 5 of us and we all had to have separate checks for business purposes p, and he took it in stride. We were looking for a good steak but we didn't want to have to buy the steak house and we found this to be perfect. Will look for this chain in other states that I travel.

Awesome steak, shrimp and chicken.

By texbambam |

As usual the best food and service. I had the lunch rib eye and it was amazing. Also added 6 grilled shrimp. You need to try that combo.

Weekend getaway

By Isaac |

A very casual dinning experience. The wait to get seated was reasonable. The customer service is exceptional. The food was cooked to perfection. I ordered the Pat's Ribeye medium with a baked sweet potato and potato soup. It is one of the best steaks I have had at any price. So if you are looking for a steak dinner I would recommend Saltgrass for consideration. You will not be disappointed

Dinner visit

By Eric V |

Just arrived in the States means to me that I have to have a good steack asap. In saltgrass the steak was indeed very good.

Great Food, Friendly Service

By Steve D |

This was my first visit to this location. I ordered the 6 oz. Maudeen's Center-Cut Filet with mac & cheese, dinner salad, and sweet tea. The steak was cooked perfectly, had a great flavor, and was very tender. The mac & cheese was very cheesy, creamy, and delicious. The salad was well done with great presentation and great taste with the cilantro vinaigrette dressing. The complimentary bread was warm, soft, fresh, and had a great flavor. The sweet tea was just about perfect. The service was friendly but it took a bit too long to get the main course. The prices were comparable to other steak houses. Saltgrass is a neat, relaxing place for any type of meal and is one of my favorites.

Good Steak for Chain Store

By LA-Traveler70043 |

I know Saltgrass is a Chain Restaurant, and I realize you can only expect so much, but this was good, I had the Ribeye, great flavor, service was great too.

Great staff and service, but the steak?

By sezzmi |

Got there early for a meeting. The bartender was awesome, and helpful. Everyone was, in fact. We had to servers, didn't get their names, but, both were very attentive, and professional. No problems with that area. The appetizers were good, (had the sampler plate), and the sides were good, but, this is a steak house, right? I don't understand why you would totally hide the flavor of a filet, (the most expensive cut of meat), with so much spice, that you may as well be eating a hamburger. I asked for medium rare. The steak came out medium, almost medium well. If you don't mind you meat tasting like it has been marinading for two days, and then rubbed with some sort of spicy, over the top flavoring, you may enjoy it. However, I really could tell no difference between the shrimp and the steak that were on the plate. I would suggest to Saltgrass that you inform customers that they will not be able to actually taste the meat. I would return. The service was great, and the prime rib on my buddy's plate looked unmolested.

Christmas dinner

By Valerie K |

We went on Christmas day for dinner. They were busy but service was good. I had their Teriyaki salmon and it was excellent!! The other 3 had steak dinners and enjoyed them.

Lots of Choices

By txtfa001 |

We went with some friends and everyone was satisfied. I had blackened redfish which I really liked. I had it plain (had them leave off the toppings) so I could actually taste the fish. I also had their Brussels sprouts which are really good. Their iced tea is really good too. No one had dessert so I can’t talk about that. The wait staff was great; when some extra people showed up it didn’t fade them.

Must stop for me when I come to Austin

By Stephen W |

You can keep your Flemings, your Ruth Chris, your Outback. Give me a T-bone at Saltgrass anyday of the week. Yes, that's right I said T-bone. One of the few steak places I've been to where you can still get a T-bone steak. Great service and great sides. I will be back. In fact I may go one more time before I head back home.

Sunday Lunch

By Darlene H |

My husband and I enjoyed a leisurely Sunday lunch on time change Sunday, and since we get out of church very early it was very quiet. I really enjoyed my Tenderloin Medallions with seared wild mushrooms and jalapeño chimichurri aioli. It was excellent and I’ll definitely get it again! My husband ordered the surf and turf and took a lot home. The portions are very large, but very good! We both had a side salad and baked potato with our entrees. The music was loud, but they turned it down to a reasonable level when we requested The service was excellent also! We actually had lunch there on Thursday too! My only complaint is that there isn’t one in South Austin where we live!

Large client lunch

By Terry F |

We used the side room for a client event. The room can hold up to 30, but that would be too tight. 1 hour lunch on a preset menu. Orders were taken at beginning of the presentation yet food took at least 20 min+ to arrive. The flimsy folding door to enter the room is loud and distracting. The food was good. My Caesar salad was bland, but the Pat's ribeye and steamed veggies were delicious . Based on the delay for food service, the dessert menu came out as we were rapping up the presentation. I didn't have dessert, but they looked rich. Side note: on family visits we order the seafood fondue, and it's devilishly good. Cost is very reasonable for larger groups, but the noise from the restaurant is distracting. Not great for large groups, but there's not a great selection of midsize private rooms in NW Austin.

Always a Good Meal

By CabinFeverNY |

The Saltgrass in Austin isn't as nice as the one in San Antonio. Plus, the service isn't as good either. I love the ribeyes and Texas Tea at Saltgrass though!

Almost as good as Longhorn

By janels |

We love Longhorn for steaks, salmon, and much more. It tends to be delicious and consistent. We decided to stop here for a change of pace, and ordered basically the same things we normally order at Longhorn. Their 6 oz. steaks are quite good here, juicy and tender, with a lot of flavor. However, it cost a bit more than a similar meal at Longhorn, and I still like them a bit better. I'm not sorry we came here, and they do almost as good a job as Longhorn.

GOOD STEAL - GOOD PRICE!

By mjhaynes123 |

Prime Rib is not the best but the Bone-in Rib Eye makes up for it. It has just the right amount of marbling and it quite tender - each time cooked to your specifications and always just right.

It was a chain experience

By Foodiefive |

They were very nice and not too busy on a Monday night. But this is a chain and I thought in Austin it might be better than average - but not. I ordered Maudeen's Filet with Crab and Fried Asparagus. The crab was nice, the steak was purple red inside for medium rare and stringy. I even mentioned to the waiter - just NOT purple inside and he said it would be red and warm inside. Why do they fry asparagus? I thought this might be something I had never tried that was ingenious, but no, it was dipped in batter and fried with the onion rings and other fried items and tasted blah. I would have rather had three stalks of fresh asparagus. The fresh bread is nice, but it was sweet and the honey butter is sweet and just not to my liking for a steakhouse. My husband ordered the pepper crusted steak and regretted it. It was doused and the cognac sauce was gelatinous and salty. Not a subtle creamy sauce he was hoping for. His thinner NY strip was cooked correctly to medium rare. So for $150 for a meal for 2, I was a little disappointed. The baked potatoes were nice. The wine was $50 and was pretty good. The only Shiraz on the menu.

Awesome

By Richard S |

Great place for the money. Must go there our waiter was great. Kept coming back to the table.Food was great and steak were cooked the way they were.

Wife’s Birthday

By Federico L. B |

She had sirloin medallions; I had an 8 oz prime rib. Both found the meat difficult to chew. Margaritas are overpriced at $14 each. Don’t think we’ll return.

Perfect!

By Cryssie83 |

I had the best experience here! We were seated immediately, the waitstaff (all of them) were incredibly friendly and all seemed like they loved being there, and our drinks never went unfilled. our waiter in particular was extremely enthusiastic and funny and even shook my hand when we left. I like baked potatoes but they're not usually the highlight of the meal, this one was. I took one bite and melted. My sister tried it and raved too. I got the ribeye to try something new but wasn't as big a fan of it as I was the ribs that she got. Even when we were leaving the staff all made us feel important, they all said goodbye and smiled and held the door. I loved the food and service and will be coming back.

Well done US-steaks

Real autentic American steakhouse, serving big welldone Striplion, T-bone and porterhouse steaks. Nice and helpfull waiter and waitres's helping choosing between all the sidedishes. Also a lot of different beers by bottle or draft.

Granddaughter made reservation .... Thanksgiving day , not traditional but what a great meal, my wife and I had the chopped beef Steak w/grated cheese and tomatoes, it was the best one I have ever had ... she felt the same way, son & Grand got steaks and also raved about them.... the service was excellent as was the food !

Good for presentations and meetings as well as individuals

By Michael R |

Separate meeting room for groups, nice area for families, couples, or individuals. A good place for a company holiday lunch or business travelers or guests.

Great meal to end a great day!

By NoelTexas |

Always one of my favorite places in other cities and this was no different. Best prime rib you would ever want. Good service and was immediately seated. Food was excellently prepared and did not have to ask for anything. It was a great place to end the day.

Great

By therealist2 |

Our visit to Saltgrass was fantastic. Served by Violet, who was super friendly. Food was so great and tasty. Steaks were plentiful and extremely succulent. Definitely worth a visit

Yum! Great service and Great Food

By oklybb |

Saltgrass has a great deal on "early dinner". We didn't expect it, but got there just before 6, so I was able to get a great price on my Filet (which was perfectly cooked and juicy). The potato soup was flavorful and indulgent. Our server Jessica B was fantastic. She was easygoing and handled everything with a smile. There was a lot going on at some of the tables around us, and she did a great job seeing to all of our needs and handling all of our requests. Not only was the food great, but Jessica made us feel welcome. If I find myself back in the Austin area, I'll definitely be coming back.

SaltGrass Steak House Austin

By Michael E |

The super friendly and helpful service was extraordinary. From the moment you we're greeted walking in the entire meal and till the moment you left they made sure that you were 100% taken care of. The food was fresh hot and tasty. I especially loved the rattlesnake bites appetizer. The salad was also also great & extremely large portion. This is a great place for a steak, drink, and , friends, or business.

After work with friends all of us from out of town.

By Jan F |

After reading the reviews decided this would be the perfect place for a Texas steak. This service was wonderful though they were not overly busy as it was a a Monday night at 7. I thought the prime rib was ok but not the best I have ever had. Salad was crispy and fresh. I had onion strings as a side. Huge portion but came out warm not hot so cooled off quickly. They were very good and not greasy. Even as a side plenty to share. Would have liked them served at a warmer temp.

Mother’s Day Early Lunch

By Linda M |

My daughter and I came to Dsltgrass for their steaks...having them on a luncheon menu was an added bonus. My steak (Ribeye) was a little thinner then expected but had good flavor and was served medium rare just the way I like it. My daughter had the smothered filet and if I should go back, that’s what I will order. Good 2” filet, seasoned to perfection with mushrooms over it. I would definitely go back...restaurant was clean and nice, help staff was attentive and nice and food was good.

Great Steak, I've worked there and the cognac butter top of the steak with sautéed mushrooms...

By Rayzer007 |

Great angus beef, True angus Catle..pretty fast and tasty Prime Rib..Can't go wrong..Bradd is a nice G.M. I've worked on the line as a shelfer and did some paint work.. Wish there was a Saltgrass in Chicago....

Was in Austin and met a family friend here. The food was great as always at Saltgrass and the tea was excellent. Will be back next time in Austin.

Chicken Fried Steak

By susie6505 |

First time at Saltgrass. Must have Chicken Fried Steak!! Was not disappointed!! I also ordered the wedge salad, which was one of the best wedge salads I have ever had. The steak was served with garlic mashed potatoes and gravy. Incredible!! Did not have any room for dessert. The service was the best!! Very attentive and very present. I highly recommend Saltgrass!!

Great Service, Wonderful Food

By toballou |

This is a chain, but it is a SOLIDLY consistant chain, with very good food. I have yet to have a bad meal here EVER. If you want a good steak, go here!

Great food

We've been here a few times when we travel to Austin. Great food, consistent drinks, good prices, good atmosphere and great service. We will definitely be back next time we're in town.

Texas Steak time

By Johanna B |

While visiting Austin for the F1 I wanted to try a proper Texas Steak place and weren’t disappointed. My husband has visited others during his work travels around the US but this was my first time. I ordered just by looking at a delicious looking photo within the menu and had the Cajun Steak with Shrimps. As a side I ordered sweet potato and expected it to be fries but instead it was the most mouthwatering whole potato, cooked until it was soft. My husband went for his favourite New York Strip and was in heaven. Excellent place, everyone incredibly friendly and would recommend to anyone.

Good Food, minimal wait

By MistiATX |

We enjoyed a lovely evening with friends on a Saturday evening. The food came out accurate and good. My burger was a bit too pink inside, but overall everyone had a good dining experience.

Very Good Food, Good Service

By OWL78654 |

Dinner on a Saturday night. Drinks were good except the lemon sliced in one drink still had the label on it. Sent it back. Tea was good. Had a Filet Mignon and a chopped steak. Both very good. Baked sweet potato was cooked well, soft and just fine. The hot bread was good. The New York cheesecake was most excellent. We liked the waiter but did run out of drinks at one point.

Excellent food awful services

By Torobravo71 |

I went with my family and we wait almost an hour for our dishes to be served, and the restaurant was far away to be full! Not a kids friendly restaurant Food awesome, service awful!

I tried take out, delivery time was not excessive and food was still warm

Texas Style Steakhouse

By mylabsryellow |

Went to Saltgrass with 4 friends for Sunday dinner. We were seated immediately. The server was friendly. Food was very good. The only hiccup was 2 salads came with the wrong dressing. Our server corrected the problem immediately. My filet was cooked perfectly and was very tender. Will definitely come back again.

Expected more

By Melissia H |

We went for an early dinner on Valentine’s Day. We got right in, wait staff was great. My husband and I orders steaks, and we were disappointed with the flavor. It seemed like something was missing.

A very sad atmosphere

By tamjan |

A very sad atmosphere and slow service. Please, cannot stand the sad out dated western love ballads - people are dying all over the world of COVID - we don’t need another reason to be depressed. My waitress was VERY slow and the whole place was understaffed. Overlooking a parking lot, with more parking for curb side pick up than actual patrons. I did like the steak and the portion of fries was good. Affordable. None of the toilets flushed :(

Great Staff and Service!

By EricPBliss |

My last review seems to have disappeared but I don't mind writing another given I was going to add a pic of a crazy drink anyway. As per usual, great service, friendly bartender (Meagan), and even a manager (Tate)was helping out--everyone was simply chipper and bouncy...you can tellpeople enjoy the work environment. I had a steak cooked right w/ asparagus so no complaints, but my update was for the oddest drink--on the dessert menu no less--called a PB&B that had some peanut-butter-infused whiskey with banana-infused bourbon poured into a martini glass laced w/ chocolate and caramel. I know that sounds lime a strange brew, but the banana did not overpower and the overall experience was like an espresso martini. I'd do it again. If banana isn't your thing, consider subbing kaluha or malibu for the banana whiskey and you'd have 2 other great drinks, w/ the later emmulating a German Chocolate Cake. At any rate, for the class of restaurant and foid Saltgrass fits in to, they're at the top of their game. 5 Stars.

Our group enjoyed the food and service

By TLBview |

Salt grass has a good model that is very consistent wherever we enjoy one. Their quality of food is good and their service training is great (someone is doing a great job Of quality control on food and service). I never regret the time or money I spend here!

So good!

I haven't had anything I didn't love. I wish they didn't put rosemary on their Prime Rib because I'm allergic but that's my problem.

Excellent service

San Francisco Quality Steak House in Austin!

By NancySF |

In December we were in Galveston with family before a cruise and went to Saltgrass Steak House there and really enjoyed it. We went while in Austin last week for dinner with 2 other couples and 3 small children aged 1 1/2, 2 and 5. Service was excellent and food was great. It was the best we had while visiting Austin. Everyone at the table ordered different foods and all were very satisfied with what they got. The adults all had steaks of one sort or another. My husband had a rib eye and I had a Filet. We also had 3 glasses of wine. I had a wedge salad (a bit extra) and a baked potato. The total for the two of us was $113.09 with a 20% tip. It was worth every cent and we would definitely go here again.

Not as good as I recalled.

By Jesús B |

Nice service, steaks ok, been there in the restaurant in the past and really it did not impress me this time.

Great service

By Chris H |

Joseph did a fantastic job with our table. He helped us find the right drinks and food. We had a wonderful time. Great night to start our vacation on.

Thursday Dinner

By Hola Gata |

Service was really slow today and waiter walked around too much and we never got refills on water and soda. Waiter did not have name tag. We should have gone next door to Brick Oven. We have received excellent customer service in the past just not today. Feeling disappointed in Saltgrass for the amount of cost.

Great Steak

By Ken H |

Business dinner with colleague. Local beers on tap to go with a well cooked steak to the proper temperature. All steaks come with some shoestring onions that weren’t the best but the steak and potato was great. Also wasn’t super crowded at dinner time mid-week. I can imagine the wait is longer on a weekend.

I ordered the top sirloin

By jaaluiso |

I ordered the top sirloin Med Rare, a little undercooked, and not too good on the flavor. The drinks were good, hopefully the steaks are a little better.

Check Out The Reward Program!

By Darlene H |

My husband and I went for Sunday lunch to use his birthday reward, and we were able to order from the lunch menu. The service from our waiter, Mike, was excellent, but my dish wasn’t up to par for this restaurant. I ordered the tenderloin tips and the meat seemed dried out and my husband had the chopped steak and it was excellent. I had the wedge salad and it is big enough to share! My husband had the house salad and as usual it was very good! We always love the bread that is complimentary. We really love this restaurant and will definitely go back. I realize that I should have said something, but I really hated to since we ordered from the lunch menu. The food and service here is usually excellent! We live in south Austin, but we prefer this location!

Great Food, Great Service, Friendly Environment

By Howie K |

Saltgrass is a great restaurant. Whenever we are in the Austin Area, regardless of distance from the hotel we visit one of the two locations in the area. I love my steak but that being said, I always get the Grilled Chicken Salad. When in the area again, I'll be back like clockwork!

Raunchy Top Sirloin

By dudeman8 |

I know you will have trouble believing me that I got a dry, non-sirlion tasting Top sir. Yes it is true. I did not have the wind after eating to tell their waiting staff that it was a poor choice of beef steak. It was a steak I have eaten at Outback in Virginia or Hong Kong. My goodness...

Great food and service

By Roy F |

Definitely a great restaurant chain. Highly recommended. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Pretty good...

By rrb |

Had the Rib Eye with Brocolli. Decent. Friendly quick service. Casual decor. Good for a quick evening meal. Had a local red wine that was also pretty good...

A Family Favorite

By Brian H |

Good food and friendly wait staff. We have visited many different Saltgrass Steak Houses and have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

Delicious dinners

By KittyGritty |

The steaks were excellent. I had the ribeye and my husband had the filet mignon. The sides were also excellent. The garlic mashed potatoes were especially good. Next time we will try the delicious looking Happy Hour food. They also have nice options on the Early Bird dinner menu. We will return!

Delicious

By Iambubblebee |

I've been to this location several times and every single one of them have been amazing. First, our server John was absolutely wonderful! We all know how a courteous, quick, & pleasant waiter can make or ruin a dinner atmosphere. We loved him !😆 The Seafood fondue that is served with slices of garlic bread is always my appetizer favorite. In fact, although we ordered this as such so that everyone could enjoy, I also ordered this as MY meal. It is my weakness. My daughter ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. It was as big as her plate ! Unfortunately, she couldn't finish it all. Fortunately, John packed it up for us so that I could finish it today. 😉VERY tasty! Her boyfriend ordered the Brisket Burger. It was braised Brisket with BBq sauce and smoked gouda with a side of fries. He allowed me to taste his and this absolutely melted in my mouth. Definitely a new favorite of mine! Although the menu prices are on the higher side at dinnertime, you won't be disappointed. Even though John was our wonderful waiter, two others also checked on and chatted with us. All in all this was a delightful dinner experience and probably my favorite in the area!

Good Steak

By tazman1099 |

Got a 12 ounce prime rib dinner for $24. Steak was good, but not exceptional. Staff was friendly, but it was late at night and service was a bit slow. Bar waitress was friendly, just took a while to get seated as they were closing sections down already. Manager was very friendly.

Cut your Steak with a Butter Knife

Awesome; spectacularly delicious! Get there between 4-6 pm and enjoy a great steak and shrimp dinner for two for under $25! Service was right on and not hovering.

Dinner in Austin

We had dinner here on 30 June. Steak was tender and flavorful. Staff was attentive. Service was great. Would recommend to everyone.

Sorry to say "Average" at Best

By Lyman K |

lots of people have told me they really like Saltgrass, but we thought it was just average. The service was good, but the steak was tough and expensive ($26 & $30). Maybe we just caught them on a bad night, but we felt "rushed" and not at all worth the money we paid. There just wasn't anything that set this restaurant apart from anywhere else, and when you pay $30 for a steak... there should be.

Probably the worse meal we have ever had

By Trish C |

My wife and myself ate at Salt Grass on Research last night and had the worse experience. It is sad to say that the best part of our meal was the margarita I had. I order steak and my wife ordered salmon. My steak was cold and tough when it was served and my wife's salmon had to be sent back because it was raw. Our waitress could of cared less. However the head waiter did come and apologize. I have eaten here numerous times and the food was very good. Last night was horrible. I am not much of one to complain in front of other guest that were dining their so I will use my common practice when I get horrible food and a waitress that did not care and just never go back

Just Dinner

By Roy J |

Went with colleagues for dinner after a business function and was not terribly hungry anyway. This could have effected my rating. I had Caesar Salad and potato soup. I had to squeeze a bunch of lemon juice and add salt to get any flavor out of there salad. Then it was decent. The soup was a bit strange but tasted ok. However, I had to spit out two large pieces of onion skin that some out got in the soup. Three of the guys did have the Strip Steak and they all said it was excellent. Probably won't go back again unless I am in the mood for steak.

Attentive servers good selection, special orders ok

By Michael R |

Great food with a very attentive staff professionally addressing special orders and dietary allergies. Discount cards at Costco.

Simply Outstanding

By SenateBean |

We had an outstanding lunch at this location. The servers were busy and on the ball. Our server, Adrian was great and made sure we had a great meal. The steaks were cooked to perfection, salads fresh and crisp and just an overall great experience. I know these times are difficult for restaurants, but you folks did a great job and we will be back!!!!!

Some of the best BBQ out there

By Doug O |

If you want a gold standard TX BBQ this is where to go!!! The brisket melts in you mouth. I have eaten BBQ in many locations and this place is in the top 5. I know you can not go wrong stopping here!

Wait for food was long and incorrect

By Tammie J |

Our waiter was slow and hard to find. We had made our selections before he even showed up. It took more than 30 minutes to get a rack of ribs and 2 rare steaks that both arrived well done. Waited another 20 minutes for 2 rare steaks. These arrived cold. Tracked down a waitress for the Manager, to go containers and our bill. Explained experience to Manager and she took off the charge for 2 appetizers, whoopee - NOT. No apology, no excuses. No tip left. Went back to hotel and heated the steaks in the microwave.

Good service

By Lifeontheroad |

First time at this location. Dining solo, I chose to sit in the open bar area. Had the chicken fried steak, French fries, and salad. Overall, not too bad, although the CFS was long on batter and short on meat/flavoring. Fries were standard restaurant fare. Salad was fresh with a good blue cheese dressing. Bartender/server (Roy, I think) was very efficient, personable, and helpful. I'll probably go back, although I'll try something different next time.

Very Good Lunch .. Reasonably Priced

By Chris500 |

I had lunch here with a friend a few days ago. I ordered the small top sirloin with baked potato and salad. The salad was very fresh and just delicious. It's a meal in itself. The steak was perfectly cooked, very tender and dee-lish as well. All things considered, 4 stars ! Service was excellent. Mr. Fertitta, I know you or someone on your staff reads these ratings. I'm very hard on some restaurants and I've posted a number of ratings on Yelp regarding some of the Houston restaurants. But this location is very good and I wanted you to know it. I will return...again and again!

Average meal, nothing special

By Jerald M |

Business meeting dinner with 10oz ribeye and loaded baked potato. Service was okay, bread with salad was good. Steak was cooked appropriately, but was no big deal. It reminded me of the steaks we would get at low cost steakhouses in Dallas when I was a teenager over 40 years ago that we lovingly referred to as "gristle factories". Very cute ambiance, but food is so-so.

Not as Good as it Should Be

By OWL78654 |

Late dinner on a Saturday night. Short wait. They said it would be 20 minutes and it was about 10. Brought bread and our drinks. One of the salads was wrong and had to be redone. The pineapple Margarita was OK but not cold, not enough ice. One steak was ordered medium and was a bit past that. It was a filet mignon and was a good piece of meat. The other steak was ordered medium rare but was more like medium well. Too hungry to send it back and wait on another one. Ran out of water. Had to flag down the waiter. Cheesecake for dessert. The strawberry topping was spoiled and awful. They gave us a piece of cheesecake to-go.

Great food!

By GabiYYC |

Tried the Saltgrass Steakhouse. We ordered the prime rib dinner, the double smoked pork chops and steak and shrimp dinner. All three meals were excellent and cooked to perfection. We ordered the pecan bread pudding to finish the meal. This pudding is enough to feed 3! We would definitely go back for a meal next time we are in Austin.

Worst meal since elementary school

By Brian M |

This was the worst meal I have had since eating in the cafeteria in elementary school. I ordered the meal via Uber Eats, so I cannot comment on the cleanliness of the restaurant, or the service. But given the quality of the food, I have a rough idea. First, my meal arrived with one entree missing. My wife got her steak, potato, wedge salad, and bread. I did not get my grilled chicken or garlic mashed potatoes. I did get my wedge salad and bread. I am not sure how hard it is to make sure what you are putting in a delivery bag matches the ticket order...must be harder than I know. My wife agreed to share her steak given the restaurant's oversight. Her steak was ordered medium, pink in the center. It was delivered medium/raw, red in the center. We had to put it on our grill, as it was so raw we could barely cut through it. Yes, we cooked our own food. The baked potato had a tiny bit of cheddar cheese, a very few bacon crumbles, and a small bit of butter. We had to put more stuff on it that we had in the refrigerator. The wedge salad was atrocious. It was a giant hunk of lettuce, with 4 small tomato pieces (not wedges, but very small pieces), with just a few bits of bleu cheese, and what looked like store bought bacon bits from a jar. But the bread was good. So if you want some good bread, and a horrible meal otherwise, order from there, or go there. Saltgrass Steak House has 80 locations across the country. The company is based in Houston, Texas, and is wholly owned by Landry's, Inc. Landry's is owned by Tilman Fertitta, the billionaire businessman. Hey Tilman, your Saltgrass concept buys low quality food, does not know how to prepare it, and it seems management is mis-managing almost every facet of the workflow. That is YOUR FAIL. FIX IT!

Great Prime Rib and Filet Mignon

By LimKH |

Arrived about 6 pm, the place was already getting packed. Ordered a few things all came out very good. Freshly Baked bread was wow, that is free. Crab Cakes were good. Tortilla Chips and Cheese with Meat dip was GREAT. Prime Rib Medium Rare was GREAT. Filet Mignon was GREAT. I would recommend others to try this place.

Father’s Day Celebration

By aggiedad77 |

Salt grass has long been a mainstay for us, steaks always prepared to order and tasty. This trip, not so much. My wife and daughter shared a 9 oz filet that was ordered medium. It came out well done. Second steak was much better. I ordered a 22 oz Porterhouse medium as well. My steak was cooked to my request, however this was in actuality a T-Bone, with only a small amount of Porterhouse on the steak. If I had wanted a T-Bone I would have ordered that. A not so satisfied Dad. On a side note: our sides were excellent and our waitstaff was very good as well. Just disappointed in the caliber of meat, for the first time.

"Birthday Week"

By Darlene H |

Saturday night out with my husband to celebrate again using my Landry's birthday reward! I LOVED my 12 oz. Ribeye Steak with the loaded baked potato and wedge salad! My husbands blackened redfish that was topped with crab and shrimp was excellent! He chose the green beans and garlic mashed potatoes and that was a very good choice with the fish! I think we'll share next time so we can indulge in dessert! The service was as perfect as the food! My only complaint is that there isn't a Saltgrass in South Austin!

Good Meal

By ibcleve |

Our group went to Saltgrass after it was recommended to us by our host. It was very good and between the chicken and steaks everyone was happy. I learned that sweet tea is not an option in Texas, they have cold tea but you have to add the sweetener. Loved the decorations and meal, highly recommend if you are nearby and hungry. Wish we had one near home.

steakhouse - Come hungry!

By Fernando B |

setting: Right on the service lane of the highway. Plenty of parking space. Modern style made old fashioned. Has a chains feel. Atmosphere was busy but not too crowded. Food: Very good and plenty. My big error was to start with appetizers, they were so good that I ate too much. (Artichoke spinach dip and the fried veggies). Plenty of drink choices. Very nice Local IPA. My steak was very good and the fried too. Service: Nice and fast. I would return.

An Average Place for Steak

By Pete Z |

The service was OK, the server took my order and it came out exactly as I ordered it. The manager came by and asked if there were any problems, and there was not. It was just not as exciting as I was hoping it to be. It was, well, just average.

Yummy

Lovely place to eat, lovely décor, friendly and helpful staff and of course beautiful food, I would recommend this if you are in the area.

Texas Cheesesteak of goodness

By angelicarenee13 |

I stopped by Saltgrass today because I was craving their Texas cheesesteak. I like to add mushrooms to the sandwich full of shredded angus steak, poblano peppers, grilled onions and melted jack cheese. Their chipotle sauce has the right amount of spice to make this over all sandwich a dream. Add a little au jus and a side of fries and I was a happy lady. I'm never able to finish the sandwich in one sitting so the other half usually comes home with me. I love sitting at the bar because I get personalized service and there is always someone interesting to chat with as far as bartenders go.

A Delightful Lunch

By James S |

We do return to this restaurant, again and again. This time is was lunch-time on Easter Sunday. We arrived early enough that there was no crowd and were seated right away and Parker came immediately to take our order. We decided to start off with drinks from the bar and the Bloody Mary and the Perfect Patron margarita were excellent. Both came with salt on the rim without asking so if you would rather not have the salt, be sure to mention it. We were surprised to be able to order from the lunch menu but the lunch menu does say, "Served every day until 4:00 pm" so that is the policy. So from the lunch menu, in the Lunch Steak Platters section we selected (1)Prime Rib - Lunch Cut and (2)Gulf Coast Steak and Shrimp. (1) The prime rib was ordered medium-rare (Parker said warm pink center and that is the way it came to the table). Caesar's salad and garlic mashed potatoes were selected to go along with it.The salad was a nice portion that didn't end before having enough of it. The potatoes, excellent with just enough skins to make it interesting. The prime rib was tender, not just tender but very tender; but without losing consistency. (2) The steak is center-cut top sirloin and the 8-oz. portion was ordered. There is a good choice of preparation for the shrimp - grilled was chosen but other possibilities were coconut, fried and barbecue. A house salad and sweet potato fries were the choices for this one. Again a proper portion of salad and dressing. The fries were very good - long and slender and enough to share. Parker was told that the shrimp should not be over-cooked and sure enough they were done just right. The steak arrived cooked as ordered.

Family Friendly Steak Restaurant

Our family of 4 had dinner @ Saltgrass Steakhouse (Great Hills Loc) this past weekend. Service was excellent. Our waiter did a fantastic job taking care of our orders and checking on our table on occasion. We all ordered the following: prime rib, shrimp platter, filet mignon, & chicken laredo. We all enjoyed our meals - although most of us took a large portion of leftovers home since we were quite full after eating our soups/salads, and artichoke/spinach dip appetizer. Food served hot, great service by our waiter, in a family friendly but nice restaurant.

Great Food, Great Service

Go here for good service and good food. 3 of the 4 in our party had steak and all said it melted in their mouths. We used to go to this restaurant many years ago and always liked it but moved further away and just kinda forgot about it. It is back on our radar, have to go there again soon.

Not good place for the food

This place is dead. Food is less than average but price is higher than quality of the food. I never go back again for sure

Nice Restaurant, Good Steaks

By Marshall T |

I was in the mood for a nice hunk of meat so based on the TripAdvisor reviews I went here and I was not disappointed. The décor of the restaurant felt very comfortable and the service was very good. I enjoyed the Maudeen's Center-Cut Filet which was exactly as advertised on the menu as “perfectly lean, served thick & juicy”. It was prepared exactly as I had requested. The accompanying fries were crisp and the salad was very good with the honey mustard dressing being made in house. I look forward to visiting the Saltgrass Steakhouse again on my subsequent visits to Austin.
