We went to Seattle to visit friends and decided to try this restaurant. Our daughter joined us. We were all very pleased with our meals. Delicious food. Great service. Good prices. I had garganelli which was pasta with smoked salmon. Other than sharing a bite with my daughter, I ate it all. It was a very satisfying meal. We shared a couple of orders of bread with olive oil which was also delicious. I would happily return to this restaurant to try other dishes.

We have friends who eat here often and really enjoy it however, we have now been there twice and had a fairly average experience. If there was a star for "good" I would have chosen it for this review. The staff is friendly and it has a nice atmosphere. I don't know exactly what it is about the food...almost like they try too hard. The variety is nice but the flavors fall just a bit short. I would say you should try it but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

I sat at the bar since I was dining solo. The bartender was busy so service wasn't real fast but I watched the game so it was ok. They have nightly specials. Nice by the wine list as well. The restaurant sits on the corner but the entrance is hard to find. It is on the side of the building away from the street corner. I had the Saltoro salad with halibut on top as my meal and it was very good. I started with the roasted chick peas, deep fried with a kick and wedge of lime!! yum yum. I would recommend this place and will return.

My husband and I celebrated our 18th anniversary with dinner out at our favorite spot Saltoro. We love the casual atmosphere and the relaxed but skilled waitstaff. Walked in at 7pm on a Monday night - it was quite full but we found a table for two. My husband enjoyed his drink, a unique earl gray Collins. He had an amazing burrata asparagus salad with prosciutto and cantaloupe. His sea-salt roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and broccolini was delicious as usual. I have never ordered a burger at Saltoro but was in the mood. I asked for mashed potatoes instead of fries, and they were good. The burger itself was disappointing - juicy but tasted funny. I realized later they may have brought me the lamb burger instead of beef. I never had to wait for my water to be refilled, and we appreciate that there was no over-hovering from our waitress. We didn’t have room for dessert, but overall it was a good dinner. We will of course be back.

The shrimp app was tasty and spicy. The steak frites entree was served with fries and blue cheese dipping sauce. It was cooked to perfection. I had it twice in a week. The other steaks received raves also. Place is cozy with a flickering fire place. Service is good. Will return again, and again!

This is a neighborhood gem. We have been here twice now and both times the meal was excellent, service friendly and good food. This isn't a location I would have expected a restaurant of this caliber. Great wine choices too!

We went to Saltoro tonight (6/21) for the umpty-umpth time. Elizabeth had her perennial favorite: sea-salt encrusted chicken with mashed potatoes. She thought it was as excellent as ever. I had a dish that was new to me: truffle-oil linguine with grilled prawns. This was outstanding, maybe the best thing I've ever had here. A simple dish but the pasta was cooked perfectly and the taste, with some grated parmesan added, was sublime. The six good-sized prawns had a nice smoky tang to them. Consistently good place with pretty reasonable prices, given the quality of the food. A very attractive place, as well.

Cozy, great service, lots of choices with interesting preparations. They do not have a website and the online menu I found was no longer in use. I had short rib ravioli. Delicious, could have been a bigger portion. Awesome deserts.

You can't go wrong with this cozy establishment. This is our favorite place for a quiet romantic dinner. I always enjoy the steak fries and my wife the parpadella with pork ragout. We added a side of sautéed chard and two glasses of wine, all for $54 + tip. Big enough for you and a big group of friends.

Six hungry family members all enjoyed what turned out to be an excellent choice for dinner. Cocktails and wine arrived quickly and efficiently and were all fine. The Grand Central Artisinal Bread with infused olive oil was quite good for starters, but it would have been nicer had it been a complimentary item and not something to order for three dollars. The two different salads we ordered: Caesar and Spring salad were both very good, as well. The entrees were all excellent including the cheese pizza ordered off the children's menu. The dinner menu with a separate listing for special dishes is quite varied and diverse and led to serious choice deliberations until everyone was finally able to decide on an entree. The Carlton Farms Grilled Pork Chop with smashed parsnip, spring onion, and other accompanying goodies was a big hit. Same response for the Halibut with cauliflower purée, glazed seasonal vegetables, and rainbow potato. The Linguine with grilled wild gulf prawns, black truffle cream and chives was happily consumed by a young diner in our party. Another of us, who had the Sea Salt Roasted Half Chicken served with spring vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes, gave that dish rave reviews. My dish was the Portuguese Seafood Stew, an extremely flavorful dish consisting of wild prawns, chorizo, fresh fish, clams, calamari, baby red potato, tomato-fennel saffron broth and grilled crostini. At first it appeared a bit small for a featured entree, however it turned out to be a more than adequate serving. Our few desserts were just fine. Our server, Mandy, was cheerfully efficient and seemed eager to insure our good dining experience. The restaurant's decor is quite appealing and the overall vibe was very positive throughout. This eatery is highly recommended for couples or for families. Quite likely you will be in for a comparably enjoyable experience.

We've been here several times and every, single time has been fantastic. The food is fresh, local and delicious! I'm gluten-free and pescatarian and extremely picky. The menu always includes lots of options and it's always easy to determine if things are safe for me. My free-form eater husband also loves the menu and craves the Portugese stew (like, he asks for it at lease once a week!). This place is one of our favorite restaurants!

On this occasion I hosted a work meeting over drinks and dinner; otherwise this is our standard date night spot. My work guests were quite impressed (they had no idea this great restaurant was so close to our office!) My husband and I feel so fortunate this classy yet casual and welcoming restaurant is in our neighborhood. We've been coming for about 15 years. We try other restaurants for date night but always default back to Saltoro as it's hard to match its atmosphere and reliably tasty food. The menu has gotten more limited over the years but we know the things we love. The roasted chicken is wonderful; my husband loves the lamb burger and truffle fries. My favorite of late is the short rib agnolotti - rich flavor. Pizzas, salads, and desserts are wonderful (love the berry crumble!) Nice wine list and tasty cocktails. Waitstaff are warm and experienced. Note that we do usually order two dishes each (e.g. Salad and entree or entree and dessert) as portions are moderate. Only complaint: there is no bread served with your meal - you have to order it as an appetizer, which we never remember to do. Still, a hidden treasure!

We were visiting from Anchorage, AK, and friends suggested we dine here as it was fairly close. What a great suggestion. We couldn't find anything we didn't like. My wife had the lamburger, which she deemed excellent. The accompanying fries were of the "shoestring" variety; Saltoro has a variety of seasonings, including truffle oil, but she chose to dress hers naked (unflavored - lol). I had what was titled Portugese Fish Stew but was actually a fine Chioppino, with a Portugese sausage on top. It was a hearty, spicy broth filled to overflowing with various local seafoods. Our friends had the famous Saltoro chicken, which we all got a taste of. Very good. It's difficult to describe the ambiance - it seems like a sophisticated bistro, if that makes sense. Waitstaff was prompt, cordial and most of all informative. I don't recall his name, but his suggestions for the food and wine selections were spot on. They have a complete wine list and the place also offers a full service bar. We were there the night after Thanksgiving and the restaurant was nearly full. The fireplace added to the ambiance. The location is quite easy to find: two blocks south of 145th on Greenwood, near the north city limits of Seattle. BTW - they don't take reservations, but also no crowds when we were there Dinner for four with wine/beer was under $100 and that included a shared dessert. We look forward to visiting again next time we are in town - the menu promises many exciting dining adventures.

While the menu features lots of yummy items, some of them are extremely small portions. The sweet pea ravioli consists of 3 raviolis total. They are larger than normal ones, but still, that is NOT filling. Despite sharing a salad (which you have to pay for), my husband left hungry and had to eat again later. Another friend ordered pasta (short rib I think) and he left hungry, too. He hadn't ordered a salad so he ate again afterwards as well. The flavor is good but don't pick this place if you are very hungry!

The best Steak Frites anywhere!

My husband and I live in the neighborhood and we are thrilled to have Saltoro. This is a casual restaurant, although a bit more fancy than the sister restaurant, Bick's (also fantastic). We have always had such a pleasant experience, the ambience is great, the food is consistently good, and the wait staff is super attentive. They have a great selection of wine, nicely done cocktails, with a great beer selection. They usually offer a list of 20 wines for $20.00 (this may be seasonal). Our favorites menu items include: the hazelnut crusted halibut, the burger, the sea salt chicken, all of the pasta dishes, mashed potatoes, and yummy truffle fries. The appetizers are delicious as well. Expect to spend $50.00 to $75.00 per couple with a bottle of wine, and possible cocktails. This is a great place to go with friends or for a special occasion. The restaurant is nicely lighted and romantic. The chocolate cake is fantastic! If you have room for it, don't leave the restaurant without it!

Saltoro has been offering weekend brunch for the past couple of months. Four of us decided to give it a try. We ate in the main dining area, though after finishing our meal I saw there is another area that is glassed in and gets sunny south-facing light. It looked very cheerful, though the view is uninspiring of the parking lot and an apartment building. Let's talk now about the menu and meal. There were lots of interesting brunch choices, the usual assortment with a few modifications. I ordered the short rib benedict, which came on Como bread rather than English muffins, accompanied by salad greens, roasted potatoes and fruit salad-no skimping on the serving size. I love that! Others ordered the smoked salmon benedict, the avocado toast three ways, and the Madagascar Vanilla French Toast with orange butter. The others unequivocally loved their choices. My benedict was a bit on the sweet side which was unexpected and the eggs were poached unevenly, one significantly undercooked compared to the other. The hollandaise was also not what I was expecting so I would give my meal four stars. That said, I am happy to return, the next time planning on ordering the fry bread chicken sandwich. Where in the Seattle area can you get good fry bread?? I hope at Saltoro. Our server, Katelin, was charmingly efficient and able to banter with our silly group jokester. A good time was had by all. We look forward to the next time.

I went with a friend who lives nearby as this is their favorite neighborhood place. We had steak frites, salad and a dinner salad. Food was very good as was the service and it has a very comfortable atmosphere. We had a view looking out on the street. Very cozy and comfortable place to have a conversation. Look forward to coming back someday when I’m up in that part of Seattle

Lovely meal, nice ambience. Great staff. I had linguine with prawns it was great very flavor some. Shade dessert after. Very nice.

This is another go to for us. Only drawback so far has been that they dont take reservations, so on weekends you need to get her by 5:30. Went again on 12/22 after an afternoon concert. The service started off well buth then got...odd. Our waitress started referring to us as M'Lord & M'Lady! ??? She was nice, so we just shrugged it off. Then she went from attentive to near invisible! The food was pretty good. Great salads & halibut, good lamb, and so so Steak Frite, and my favorite pasta came out with cold spots. Should have sent it back, but were really hungry. If you haven't been, give this place a try. We'll be back. One last note: There are A LOT of families who go here, so be prepared for noise and minimal romance. Can sometimes get hectic!

While visiting Seattle, my sister took me to a few really good, expensive restaurants, so when 2 more friends flew in, this is the restaurant we revisited. Inside is dark and cozy, and outside in the Seattle summertime is exquisite. This is a neighborhood restaurant whose food is incredibly delicious. One of the dishes was the gulf shrimp/truffle oil linguine, which I will be experimenting with to recreate in my own kitchen, I love truffles and this was the best. We also all ordered a variety of small plates, the potato gnocchi with pea sauce was totally amazing ( we ordered this both times). The pea ravioli was right up there also--I do believe the chef has a thing for peas, or at least someone's garden is producing. Everything was so good that neither time were we able to fit dessert in, but we sure did waddle away in any case. The service was flawless and friendly.

Consistently, Saltoro stands out. Great food, drinks and service make this a regular favorite. Starting with drinks, the wine list is kept up to date with new additions. Stand out entrees include the pappardelle pasta, lamb burger and the roasted salted chicken. On this trip we had the pasta, burger and shared the Saltoro salad. The staff and service are top notch. No matter how busy, they are friendly and efficient.

We are visiting Seattle from Maryland and are staying close by on Aurora Ave, so we used Trip Advisor to find something close by that had good reviews. We intended to go for Mexican food, but we saw this place first and decided to try it out. Saltoro really is a great restaurant! We are spoiled by a lot of great restaurants in the Washington DC area and Saltoro would fit in really well there! I had the Sea Salt Chicken amend my wife had pasta with shrimp and both were fantastic - seriously very good! Our kids did the standard pasta thing and they loved it too. Great drinks, great service, and a nice atmosphere! Don't hesitate to eat here if you are in the area - I would bet it is the best place around, hands down. Now I have to say I don't know the neighborhood well at all, but some of the areas look a little sketchy to me there, especially the apartments next door. Don't let that discourage you - this place is fantastic!

I live out of town and this was my second visit to Saltoro with family. We arrived early and got right in. The restaurant is on the smaller side and I would imagine they can get pretty busy during prime-time. It is a very pretty place inside, good lighting. A very nice beer and wine list made it easy for us all to pick a favorite beverage. The salads we shared were fresh and delicious. I had the Kobe burger and it was perfection. We dined with an 18 month old and I really appreciate how kind and attentive the waitstaff treated us.

My wife and I have enjoyed Saltoro since its inception many years ago, usually on a Friday night as a relief from the work week. This is a reflection on all of those years, a succession of chefs, and the changing nature of the place. First, there is something that has not changed: Saltoro's interior. It has a Pac NW craftsman feel that reminds me a bit of the Seattle Symphony's Benaroya. What has changed is its menu. Saltoro dinners consistently have been superior to anything north of roughly 105th. When it first opened, I thought some decent spot from Europe has made a quantum jump to North Seattle. My wife and I travel a lot, and the place truly reminded me of a good quality restaurant in Tuscany or France, offering appetizers, cheese plates, smalls and larges. Sadly, they abandoned the cheese plate and have gradually reduced the complexity of their fare to resemble that of their quasi-sister restaurant, Bick's, down the street (roughly 105th). In other words, they are moving in the direction of fancy burgers and fries as opposed to the old days of more complicated entrees and a changing stream of specials. This puts characters like my wife and I a bit off, for we had long hoped for a nearby and reliable above average experience with menu specials that would change with sufficient frequency so we did not risk boredom after six or seven evenings. But the days of specials seem to be past. Portuguese Seafood Stew has been their go-to special for ages now. Don't be fooled. It is no longer special. The place bills itself as seafood, landfood, but the selection is the stew or steak, Halibut or chicken, with pastas and pizzettas, appetizers and salads, to mix and match on the regular menu. Where is the salmon whjich is so great in Seattle? I wish more of it at Saltoro like the old days. The restaurant seems to be oriented more to one night stands or the special occasion crowd, or maybe it is becoming a bit frightened of seeming a bit un-American. Or maybe the King in the North is just aging, becoming less sprightly in his moves. But the place still remains on top in the area. We generally find service to be timely. I was alarmed last week when we were left standing for at the entry without being promptly seated.. The place was busy, but tables were empty (we were eventually seated at one we had been staring at the whole time), and the explanation we were given was a desire to even the flow of orders to the kitchen. A better answer would be a seat at the table, a glass of water, a bottle of wine, and since we are repeat customers, an apologetic request that we hold off a bit if their kitchen was under pressure.

This large, Italian style establishment is located off the way, in north Seattle. Though nothing seems too far off in Seattle, this is in a relatively quiet suburb some way from the downtown area. One wouldn’t find it if one didn’t know it was there, but it definitely seems to be popular with the local folk. We were visiting this part of Seattle for the first time and had no idea where to take our friends for dinner so we left the choice of restaurant to them. They seemed to know this one ~ and it seemed to know them! There was a well-set up, large table ready for us when we arrived, with a large retinue to greet us and show us our seats. Great way to start a dinner and see old friends again. The dining spaces are large, with a huge bar area, reasonably comfortable seating, hard tabletops and ample space for the guests and servers to circulate without bumping into each other ~ which for any large restaurant is very important. The hard tabletops add to the noise levels though, but are probably easier to maintain for quick turn-around seating. From the starters to the main courses, I just remember that all the food was very good. The buffalo mozzarella pizzetta is basically a small, individual pizza appetizer and is melt-in-your-mouth delicious. They make them fresh, but they arrive fast. The crust is soft but crisped just to the right degree so it doesn’t get hard (and the generous amount of butter they apply keeps it soft, too…) I had the Catalonian braised short-rib entrée with buttered vegetables and the portion was large enough to satiate, and everything was cooked perfectly: off-the-bone juicy meat and great sauce with tender buttered, browned grilled greens. Two of our guests shared the Portuguese Stew, which from all the ooohs and aaahs must have been really as good as it looked. (And the portion was huge enough for them to oooooh a while.) And one guest had the Lamb burger which he said was delicious (and he eats here fairly often.) The desserts are cooked on the premises and just as good as they promise. My flan was set just right, with dark brown syrup at the base just as I like it…. a childish taste in desserts??? Price range is average to medium, depending on one’s choices, and the wine list is fairly good and has medium priced selections in the $25-65 range, which is very good for this type of establishment (but then, I come from the NY area….) Very good value for money ($34/guest, with the wine and tax ~ again, that’s very inexpensive for NY) as the portions are well sized so one doesn’t have to keep ordering too many extras to fill up the occasional really hungry belly.

That's the question we ask ourselves every time we go to Saltoro - Why Not More Often? We know the answer; it's not exactly in our neighborhood, and the location is not a destination for us. Saltoro is located in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood at 140th and Greenwood Ave N; that's about 9 miles from home. Not exactly a day trip but it's all surface streets and stop lights, so it's not a zippy drive. That said, this is one amazing restaurant and has been for some time. The menu changes from time to time, and there are usually a couple of appetizer and entree specials along with some wine specials that you will want to check out. Our last visit, just a couple of days ago found us chiding ourselves once again for staying away for so long. We started with cocktails; they have a full bar. Gale went with a house-infused pepper vodka and peach martini with a rim of sugar and cayenne pepper (only about half the rim is coated for the wimps:-) that was wonderful. I went with a spicy manhattan that was very good, though short of being spicy. We looked at appetizers, and I chose arancini, the Italian favorite of rice balls formed around a little mozzarella cheese and deep fried. These are one of my favorites and Saltoro's, like oversized golf balls, definitely didn't disappoint. Gale chose the roasted cauliflower with calabrian chilies and pine nuts, and we both agree that was a home run. The appetizers were about $6 each. For an entree, I went with a Portuguese fish stew of clams, shrimp, calamari, and fish in a robust, roasted tomato base that I wanted to just keep eating and eating. Gale went with the Steak Frites, a hanger steak topped with roasted red peppers, caramelised onions, blue cheese aioli, and fries (truffled for $1.00 extra). The steak was cooked perfectly and came sliced, making it easy to manage. Both entrees were under $20. We chose a bottle of Rothchild red wine that was $25; a very good red wine and a real bargain. As I mentioned, the menu changes, but some examples of appetizers in the $7 to $12 ranges are: >Truffle Fries - shoe string potatoes tossed with truffle oil and parmigiano reggiano >Steamed Manilla Clams with white wine, lemon, butter, garlic, and chile flakes. >Butternut Squash Raviolis with a garlic sage cream sauce, seasonal mushrooms. >Saltoro Salad with point reyes blue cheese, almonds, and a honey shallot vinaigrette. They do what they call Pizzettas for about $10 - smaller individual pizzas that are done in the Napolitano style: >Roma Tomato, Spinach, Gruyere, Roasted Garlic Cream >Bacon, Sauteed Mushrooms, Caramelized Onion, Four Cheese >Italian Sausage, Roasted Red Peppers, Basil, Four Cheese, Chile Oil For entrees, there is a nice variety that, with few exceptions, are under $20: >Truffled Oil Linguini With Grilled Prawns white wine creme, herbs. >Spinach Fettucini With Spicy Chicken Sausage creme , basil, parmegiano. >Hazelnut Crusted Halibut, roasted red potatoes, red peppers, carmelized onions, blue cheese aioli and fries. >Sea Salt Roasted Chicken with hariot verts, garlic mashed potatoes, rosemarry jus. >Lamb Burger, roasted red burgers, tart tomato onion chops, harissa aioli , fries. There's more on the menu, but this gives you an idea of the variety. The execution has been near-perfect on each of our visits, and as you may have noticed from the above descriptions, they put lots of flavor in their dishes at Saltoro. One of the reasons we love their food. We will absolutely make a point of visiting more often. Oh, and we learned from Chef Jay that Tom Douglas, a star on the national culinary stage, is a frequent visitor to Saltoro. We know Tom, and he knows great food, so that is an endorsement right there.

Nice place with a friendy list of food and appetizers. Good selection of cocktails and small but nice selection of wine. Friendly staff and agood location for multiple types of meetings either intimate or friends.

I've been here for both dinner and brunch and I can say I'm impressed with both the food and the service! The head chef, Caesar made a special appearance at our table and introduced himself. It made us feel like we were at a 5-star restaurant and the food was amazing. My steak was cooked perfectly for dinner and the scallops for our appetizer were cooked perfectly, not rubbery at all and full of flavor! The brunch burger was nice and big and was cooked medium as I requested. In all I highly recommend Saltoro for a special dining experience.

We really lucked out. Calamari, salad, halibut, Berger was excellent. It was a pleasant surprise as we did not know the area.

You cannot go wrong here. Fabulous dinner. Great service. We had the; clams, cauliflower, steak, scallops, and flan. Enjoy.

We've driven by this place a thousand times... hubby was in the mood for Italian so we decided to give it a try. Now, we can't get enough. Fantastic. Fabulous. Warm and inviting. Great ambiance with music to match. Good service. Food is TO-DIE-FOR. Great martinis. Ample wine list. Every single thing we ordered was superb. You can't go wrong here. My only regret is that we waited so long to walk through the door.

This one is a keeper. Easy wheelchair access. Delicious food. Pricey but worth it. Lovely atmosphere. We were seated by the fireplace.

Thoughtfully chosen menu, exceptionally warm welcome, happy clientele

We where in the town just for few minutes and decided to have diner, great surprise, a must visit place

Good food, but incredibly small portions. The grilled salmon comes with one small, baby red potato and one asparagus stalk, nothing else. Great place for dieters. So don't come hungry. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, hard uncomfortable chairs. I do not recommend Saltoro's.

Great place. Lively. Great food. Perfect service. An easy Yes! Could work for dates or just hanging out with friends. We saw plenty of families too.

We ate dinner there last night. The parking was not nearly sufficient enough for the patrons. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our server did a very nice job of taking care of us. The place was so noisy we had to speak very loudly to hear each other. I read on other reviews that the food was rather skimpy. Maybe folks were ordering small plates. I ordered a large plate and got plenty of food. My husband and I split a warm brussel sprout salad. It was quite good, but so salty I could not fully enjoy it. I ordered a sea salted roasted chicken on a large plate. The chicken was good. It came with garlic mashed potatoes, broccoli and mushrooms. It was served with mushrooms and broccoli layered with potatoes then topped with the chicken. The juice from the chicken saturated the potatoes and rather diluted them. I think it would be better served with items on plate not being layered. I am not saying this is not a good place to dine, it just was not a place I would dine at again. We all have our likes and dislikes.

Wonderful decor, I love the huge wine rack with the ladder and the hand-blown glass lamps, it was cozy, fairly dark and warm and i loved the ambiance and thought it was quite romantic, but doesn't really have to be if you are with just friends or family. We tried probably every appetizer on the menu, and didn't have room for dinner after several delicious drinks and desserts and boozy dessert coffees and chocolate martinis as well. Very fun and festive, a great place to celebrate. We will definitely go back for dinner and the dinner specials looked amazing. Service was good and parking was handy.

This is one of our favorite spots in all of North Seattle. It's possible the roasted chicken is the best in the city and the truffle fries are amazing! Try the Fresca cocktail, made with house infused vodka. The staff are always friendly, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food is consistently delicious!

We’ve eaten here twice and the food is wonderful. I like the ambiance - nice big fireplace and some cool lighting. We’ve had salads and fish dishes and desserts - all good. The chocolate desserts are amazing. The servers are friendly and efficient. I will mention that Mom is in a wheelchair and it’s somewhat cumbersome to get her into the restaurant - you have to call ahead and enter through the back door. But once inside the food is definitely worth the hassle. Get here early - it fills up by six on weekends.

My husband and I stopped in to have an appetizer and a couple of drinks, we ordered the Artisan bread and olive oil for our appetizer, and a couple of chocolate martinis. What we received two great martinis, they were delicious and went down really easy. We finally received our Artisan bread and olive oil and were sadly disappointed, what was touted as artisan bread seemed to be no more that 3 slices of warmed up wheat bread cut in half and placed on a plate with the olive oil that tasted like it had just a few parsley leaves in it. The crust of the bread was so hard, I had to chew it for about 3 minutes before I could swallow! All this costs us over $30.00, before tip!! I'm not a penny pincher at all, but that was the most rediculous amount of money to pay for 2 drinks, some microwaved wheat bread and a tablespoon of olive oil!

This was our first visit to Saltoro after driving by it scores of times and promising we would eat there someday. The filet was several inches thick and cooked medium rare to perfection and seared top and bottom. It is not on the regular menu, but one of the specials. Snake River Farms Kobe. My mouth waters just writing this. The chili Brussels Sprouts and the spicy prawns and pancetta were also outstanding. We sat by the fireplace and the atmosphere was relaxed and Ian our waiter provided excellent service. We will definitely return.

Liked the atmosphere because quiet and you can talk. Fireplace seating was nice. Service Excellent! Food on the pricey side with dinners 20 and up. Salad 8.00 average. Side vegetables extra too. Dinner ordered Salmon Coho. Very delicious. The bean paste on bottom was little spicey. They do not take AMEX so be prepared for that when paying. Dinner for two with glass wine and one regular drink was $106.00. Nice evening out and great for the location. Didn't have to drive far from where staying.

we were there on a Tuesday evening and there was line awaiting to get in. we went the night before for just a drink and we were impressed with the platters we saw being served. Service was quick -- atmosphere inviting .. I have to agree on some portions small but the food was very good -- good flavor and good quality -- I think the prices are average for the type of dining . I would recommend and return ...

The staff and food is great here. You almost always seat your self at an available table, the staff is like a family, sit wherever and I'll be by when I'm ready to take your order or ask if you are ready at least. Also have a gluten free menu!!!

We dined here before a Seattle Symphony concert. What an interesting menu and great ambiance. The wait staff served us pleasantly and efficiently, since we had to hurry to make an early baton-drop. Their menu offers so many good choices and the prices are so reasonable that we'll have to return just to sample everything. The Portuguese seafood stew I'd rate just a bit too spicy. But the BBQ ribs were something special. The truffle linguini and prawns gets rave reviews for a good reason. And the penne pasta with salmon was delightful.

We have been going to Saltoro for years! The steak frites, the pork chop and the pizzetta with sausage and fennel are my favorites. They reliably provide excellent food and service. There is a special menu that changes every couple of weeks (or so) and the fallen chocolate cake is a great finish to the meal. I cannot say enough about this restaurant!

I went here out of couriosity and was Pleasently surprised with how good the food was. My family and I ate family style so we could try a little of everything. The truffle fries were delicious and the beet salad was so good I tried to make it at home, but theirs was still better. And their falling chocolate cake is a must have. The wait staff were great too, attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend saltoro to others, and I can't wait to go back for seconds!

Saltoro's has been here for quite some time. Seafood and "Landfood". Good dishes. Check out the mussels for the appitizer. Lamb Burgers are great, but so are the other menu items. Great staff.

Such an inviting restaurant in north Seattle. Fantastic service and food! We had the chickpea appetizer and I ordered the half chicken for dinner. We arrived at 5:00 pm, and avoided the crowds, who fill up the small restaurant and bar area in the evening.

This was my first visit to Saltoro & I can't wait to go back!!! We arrived on a Friday night at 7 pm & as expected, they were very busy. However, the service was great, our drinks came very quickly and our waiter treated us royalty. The food was absolutely delicious and definitely very generous portions!! My husbands burger was perfectly cooked & fabulous. I had the penne puttanesca & it was AMAZING!!! This is one of my favorite Italian dishes & Saltoro's version is one of the best! The tomatoes tasted like they were fresh from the garden & it was perfectly spicy in a way that lit up my palate!!! I LOVED IT!!! For dessert we had the most amazing chocolate cake/brownie type of thing & OMG...it's was gooood! My only negative is that I was really disappointed we weren't offered any type of bread or even breadsticks before or during our meal, which is odd for an Italian restaurant. We survived though & definitely did NOT go home hungry. We will be back, FOR SURE!!

I agree with one of reviewers who complained about size of portions. I love going there, but my husband dislikes it, because a) he asked for bread because of skimpy portions, and they were going to charge him for it and b) they refused to substitute anything on the pizzas--it was take it or leave it. If you're starving, don't go here. If you just want a few bites of some great food, this is the place for you.

Beautiful decor, fantastic service, nice bar and great food. The pasta portions are on the small side but everything else is generously sized. The beer and Sangria were very good. I had the ravioli stuffed with short ribs, other than being smaller than the other entrees (not tiny just smaller) and it was wonderful. Others in the party had the ravioli stuffed with peas and ricotta, pork chop and the famous roasted boneless 1/2 chicken. We had 2 appetizers, a "antipasto" salad special and fried calimari. I wish that nice artesian Italian bread had been complementary, but my millennial daughter feels that that would be "unnecessary empty calories." She is just a 32 year old with a 3 degrees, I am a 64 year old with 3 degrees... So I win... (smile)

Excellent kitchen and ambiance. Only open for dinner (5pm) and the parking lot fills up fast so go early. I understand that Seattle restaurateur Tom Douglas enjoys eating here. One of my favorite meals ever was a nightly special pheasant. Never had a bad meal. Friends from England were very pleased.

If you're in the neighborhood and feel like a treat Saltoro is a great little place to have a very robust meal. Do go there thinking it's cheap. It's not overpriced but it is a great value and every meal I have had there is way way good

This is a great restaurant with lots of parking, good service and a great menu. I would definitely go back. The crab raviolis were delicious.

We still love the truffle fries at Saltoro, and for a long time, this was one of our go-to spots with guests. Their specials tend to be interesting and the menu, admittedly somewhat limited, is good (raviolis are especially nice as is the steak frites), but the past couple of visits have been a let-down...waiting 1/2 hour for drinks and longer for dinner. We haven't given up on them, but with so many outstanding restaurants in the Seattle area, the inconsistency has us trying out other spots instead.

We have been going to Saltoro's for over 7 years, probably 5 or 6 times a year. It's the restaurant we go to when we want a guaranteed great dinner! We order the Sea salt roasted Chicken. The best chicken ever. Also the truffle fries to share. Great bar and friendly staff. The steak frites meal is wonderful too and comes with the truffle fries. Enjoy.

amazing truffle fries! Great food!!!

I came here for the first time last week for dinner with a friend. The restaurant is very cozy and inviting. I had a Caesar salad and a Crimini and Oyster mushrooms, fontina, rosemary, truffle oil small pizza. The pizza was wonderful. The Caesar dressing was slightly runny and not as flavorful as I like, but good enough for me to finish. The wine by the glass was not too terribly pricey and the selection was pretty good. I will definitely come back! I read on the web they don't have a happy hour (which is a bummer). While we were there, I was thinking it would be great to come back for happy hour.

Restaurant is open only for dining. The actual building is nothing to be noticed from the street. However the varied and deliciously prepared dishes are a great reason to come back again and again. The wait staff is seasoned and have been at Saltoro for a long time. NOT a "cheap" place. Best to sit away from the bar ( which can be noisy). Last night I had the rack of lamb, superb choice. My friend had the salted chicken and there was nothing left on our plates.

A group of 5 of us had dinner here. We were on a business trip, and the restaurant was recommended to us by the hotel. I read the reviews before we went. We were all disappointed. Four of us had the salmon with shrimp. The salmon was overcooked; tough. The shrimp were really "fishy". I enjoyed the garlic mashed, but 2 others were not fans. Maybe this was just an off night? Cute atmosphere. Not very big inside, and parking was a challenge.

This is our go to for a great comfort dinner, we live in Ballard and its about a 15 minute drive. We have never had a bad meal in 15 years. come maybe once a month. Thanks Saltoro crew..

Our son and his bride-to-be chose Saltoro as the restaurant for us to host their non-rehearsal dinner (no rehearsal, just celebrate). Besides being their favorite, it fit all our specifications, too: good range of choices on the menu, wonderful food, relaxed but very nice atmosphere, secluded space, efficient and friendly staff, sufficient parking, reasonable prices. It was a wonderful celebration and we were 100% pleased with Saltoro.

We were staying in N. Seattle after visiting the Boeing plant. We asked the hotel staff for a restaurant recommendation and they suggested Saltoro. In driving through the neighborhood, I figured that the food would be average, but my first impression was wrong. The parking lot was busy and we actually got the last parking spot. That was a good sign. We were greeted by the person who actually turned out to be our server and she was very helpful and friendly. Interior decor was lovely and modern. I ordered the Spring Pea Ravioli with a carrot sauce and my husband ordered a different pasta dish (paparadella with a meat ragout) . The dishes were sophisticated and well prepared. My daughter's pizza was delicious too. I used the bread to mop up all of the remaining sauce after I finished my raviolis...that's how much I enjoyed it. It was an unexpectedly wonderful meal.

This is a neighborhood gem that consistently serves specialties and comfort food. Small plates and hearty dishes available, wonderful truffle fries, and tasty desserts. Comfortable, quiet atmosphere and friendly service.

Been here many times. Love the steak frites upgraded to truffle fries. Braised ribs good too. Haven't had anything I didn't enjoy. Service food can be slow during rush time but just get a wine and relax.

Excellent food, great service, and warm cozy atmosphere a perfect placed to get a bit dressed up for.
Very good salted chicken and truffle fries
This place is certainly a hang out for The Highlands. It is a place for families and drinks. The food is very good and the servers are very knowledgeable. I recommend the salted chicken and the truffle fries.
