Roast beef hero and chicken cutlet parm hero are good choices. Beers are cold and there are plenty of TVs to watch games. Spacious too.

Was in the Bay Ridge area looking for a place to have dinner. We passed by the Salty Dog and growing up in a household where my Dad was a volunteer Firefighter, I was intrigued knowing this was once a NY firehouse. Upbeat bar with big screen TV's surrounding the bar & dining area. Started off with the Rock shrimp which was nothing spectacular, but I highly recommend the French Dip, it's delicious! If you're looking for a fun, local bar, Salty Dog is the place to be.

While visiting NY for the day, my husband and I stumbled on the Salty Dog for lunch. It wasn't very crowded (it was Tuesday at 1pm) and we got to seat ourselves (love picking booths!). The bar itself is decorated very well and it felt like a cozy and comfortable neighborhood bar/grill. The service was amazing! I didn't catch his make but he was AWESOME! We tried the potato skins. Very good! Perfectly crispy and full of cheese! I got the chicken Parmesan hero... Delicious! My husband got the Sloppy Dog burger. It was huge, the picture does no justice to the actual size! Our total bill for an appetizer, two meals and two drinks was right around $40. Not too bad! I'd totally come back here!

We went there on a Saturday night and they still had space to accommodate a large party. Service was great and friendly. I had the Saturday night prime rib special, which was very good. Burgers and sandwiches also delicious. Excellent desserts, too. Very reasonably priced. I would definitely return.

I ordered wings and asked for BBQ twice and hot wings were delivered. I asked for the right wings to be sent and when two hours later they were not here I called and was told they did not leave yet. I asked for my money back and a very rude manager told me they would not come back because they were busy and he hung up on me!! Real professional.

This restaurant/bar has been a neighborhood staple for years and the food hasn't changed one bit. The chicken pot pie, burgers, and steak sandwiches are always delicious and cooked perfectly. The service is great and the staff is very friendly. It is very nicely decorated as well. Definitely a nice place to go for a casual night out.

Excellent food and service. Sat at the bar w friends had the Lamb burger which was very tasty. Great bartender with fresh Guiness.

2/3 dishes were absolutely delicious. The table favorite was the Carolina burger, and we all had a few bites! Shepherds pie had great flavor but a good portion of the meat was very fatty/chewy. Seating area is pretty crowded and loud, but overall, we enjoyed our meal. Had the meat been a little less fatty and the tables just slightly more spacious, it would have been 5 stars.

Great local dinning for lunch/dinner. Reasonable priced with good food choices, large portions and great tasting. Service is always good. Can't be beat!

I'd been here a few times when I lived in Bay Ridge most recently on my moving trip there last September. This is a solid firefighter bar, its got a rollup door at the front of it, an older firetruck inside of the bar and has got various firefighter themed things throughout the bar. This bar is packed every Friday and Saturday night, every bartender there has some current or former association with the FDNY it seems, despite the guy themed atmosphere, alot of beautiful women are always there even though they seem to be there specifically for firefighters. The drink selection is relatively simple, there is beer on top, more whiskey than any other liquor it seems (for those who are uninformed, Jameson is the choice drink of FDNY members), there arent too many special mixed drinks on the menu either. The food selection is simple too, the burgers are very good, the wings are tasty, the other food served is similar fare. Go here if looking for a real firefighter bar in NYC, this place embodies every aspect of being one. Also one thing that beats some of the Bay Ridge firefighter bars, this bar is a NYY bar not an NYM bar, so that gives it 5 stars without a question.

Food there is okay... the calamari is good with their special sauce. Its a good place to just grab a burger or some wings, not for dining.

We recently had a huge family gathering to celebrate our Mom’s 90th birthday and reserved THE SALTY DOG for the occasion. The Salty Dog crew did a fabulous job. The food was excellent, the drink’s delicious, and the atmosphere a perfect setting. Everyone who attended the party commented on how delicious everything tasted and how friendly and fun the Salty Dog staff was. Thank you to the owners and staff for making the party a most memorable event! We will be back.

Stopped here with my friend on 9/3/23 & 9/6/23 for drinks. We were warmly welcomed by servers who took care of us. We were greatly appreciative. The Tequila Sunrises, frozen margaritas, & frozen pink lemonades were all outstanding. Wil try the food next time. Definitely check out Salty Dog! Highly Recommended! Tell them Charlie sent ya!

While a bar, The Salty Dog is also known for its great food. I've been here on several occassions and the food has always been top notch. On this occasion I ate the Chicken Pot Pie and it was phenomenal! Fresh, homemade and delicious. My cousin had a salad with blackened chicken and it was also very good. The other great thing about this place is the atmosphere. It used to be a NYC Fire House. It's really very cool.

Neighborhood staple with FDNY memorabilia, has large diverse menu which easily satisfies anyone’s tastebuds. The burgers are the BEST in town, it’s my go to whenever I have a hankering for one! Multiple TV screens for sports venues and a vast bar with plenty of seating. Staff is always beyond courteous and friendly! You won’t be disappointed!

well we went here on my friends birthday it was fairly empty maybe cause of the rainy weather anyhow as soon as we arrived the bartender was ready to serve us we order a few drinks and some of the samplers food was awesome for a bar and the drinks were reasonable priced the atmosphere of the bar was very welcoming and hope to revist again!

Meh. Not impressed with shrimp platter. Shrimp small and mushy. Overcooked veggies. Rice was tasteless. Told server and manager. She gave me $6 off bill. They should have comped meal. Won’t return.

9 bucks for a Blue Moon on tap... really?? As I recall, this is Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, not Manhattan's Upper East Side. Somewhat friendly, but not the hotspot it used to be. Decide for yourself if it's worth a visit.

I do not visit Brooklyn without stopping at The Salty Dog at least one time. This is my favorite place to eat for several reasons. I have to say there is a fisrt reason twice, the food and the servers. My favorite is the bacon cheeseburger, cooked medium although I do get a steak once in a while or chicken and they have great fish too, I prefer the burger because not many places cook it the way I like it. Now the servers. I have my favorite two, Larry and Kelly, but all servers work as a team including either a busperson or bar person. If one is busy the other one gets your order to you. They watch out for you as they do each other. After a few times you feel like your home with family-well depending on your family: or you are making a new family. There's nothing like going to a restaurant and being treated like your best friends. Please tip as well as you are treated. They work hard to make your experience a great experience. Oh I almost forgot, they have a DJ on weekends, an old firehouse built into a restaurant with a firetruck DJ area. KIds will love it and if you are from out of town you can buy a Salty Dog Tee shirt. I just bought one for my little guy and he loves it! Ya know I almost hate to share this info. If one day I can't get in because it's too busy...well you get the gist.

Was in the Bay Ridge area looking for a place to have dinner. We passed by the Salty Dog and growing up in a household where my Dad. At first everything seemed great. However now it is starting to go down hill. The prices have increased and the food quality had went down. Since I my family and I were normal customers only one server really got to know us through the years, but she died from falling off the roof of her house.

I love the salty dog. There appetizers are great and the entrees are just as good. During the night, the Salty Dog is my favorite bar in bay ridge to listen to music, get a drink and dance a little. I would tell anyone who is in the Bay Ridge area to check this place out!

The Salty Dog is my favorite restaurant in Bay Ridge. It doesn’t make sense that they have so many different dishes on the menu and they’re all delicious but that is absolutely the case. I highly recommend their penne vodka; I was actually sad after I finished eating and had none left...I’ve been thinking about it since. My family and friends have had parties here as well as casual dining and we’ve all been happy every time. Definitely stop by if you get the chance!

This is a great, friendly neighborhood pub. Lots of TVs for all the sports. Friendly and welcoming staff. Love the chicken parm hero.

Walked in for a table of for, and service from the start was fantastic. Warm, friendly and efficient. Menu had plenty of choice, food quality was great and portions generous. Pricing of food was reasonable but drinks, especially wine was on the high side. Mind you with the pound so weak against the dollar it all is more expensive this year. The bar is geared up for locals and not a tourist trap, which made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. We are staying just round the corner, but would suggest it’s worth travelling for.

Solid local bar/restaurant. Food is good and simple. Lots of seating options to hangout and drink or to eat. Staff is great especially Melissa!

This felt like real NYC bar food to me and I loved it! I had wings, and a French Dip which was a first for me but what's not to like about a bit of crusty bread with beef, cheese and gravy! Yum! The portion was huge, far to big to finish! Excellent service. Good beers on tap and great buzz.

Found salty dog to be an excellent place to visit, great environment, firefighters would really enjoy. Mike took really took care us and treated us like locals. I will tell all my firefighters to visit when ever in new york.

Fun atmosphere, great energy and really the most amazingly delicious chicken pot pie I have ever had.

Salty Dog is a bar with music and enough room to dance. There are live bands too but its not really a restaurant. You can get your average bar food and appetizers. Good place to meet up with friends. Crowd is the 30's to 40's. It can get loud outside.

I had the opportunity to eat here with a group of 90 students and sponsors on a recent choir tour to NYC. We were struggling to find a place large enough to hold us and inexpensive enough to fit the budget. John stepped up and made it possible for us! The food was great and the staff awesome. Thank you for a great dinner!

Go here with our grandchildren every time they are in Brooklyn. They enjoy climbing the fire truck and say the best hot dogs in the world. It’s fun, the food and salads are good and staff is friendly and attentive.

Good food served in a casual atmosphere and a great bar well stocked with a good selection of all kinds of beer

Friendly crowd of different ethnicities, most people aged 25 to 35, dance floor sufficient size, sports on the televisions, some very attractive ladies... security has gotten sterner and too serious, and alcohol is now quite pricey, but no cover charge. It's worth a visit.

The Salty Dog is not only a neighborhood sports bar, but a timeless adventure of dining that’s even kid friendly. Its firehouse theme features a garage style door, a vintage fire engine display; even their restaurant’s four alarm chili fits in perfectly. With their great food and setting for such an affordable price it’s no wonder why Gail says “Go!” Next time you’re in Brooklyn be sure to stop in The Salty Dog located at 7509 Third Ave., Bayridge, Brooklyn, NY. This renovated firehouse is very cool spot. You'll enjoy the sports bar feel with the firehouse decor. Lots of beers on tap, great food and the staff is awesome! Prices are affordable and drinks are good too.

My husband and I go to New York every year to visit family in Brooklyn. If you ever are near this area check this restaurant out. We have triend many restaurants in NYC including many areas such as Masnhattan, brooklyn, etc. Unless you are going to an expensive reastaurant 8/10 times you will be disappointed in the food. Most restaurants feature the same type of food with ridiculous prices. The salty dog was a surprising find. At first I was hesitant to go as it is a sports bar. Though the atmosphere was a little loud, it wasn't loud enough to distract conversation. I reviewed the menu and the food choices were a pleasant surprise as well as the prices. I have sampled many items including pizza, steak, pasta. Every dish was fantastic and the portions are huge. Expect leftovers.

Food is excellent. Service good. Only problem very noisy. Hard to talk to someone over dinner. Great place to watch sports on TV. If you go get there burgers one of best in Brooklyn

The food was very good. I enjoyed the Reuben sandwich and fries. The drinks were tasty and the atmosphere was enjoyable,

What some people may not know about the Salty Dog is that some of their food rivals some of Bay Ridge's best restaurants. Their menu runs the gamut, from burgers, to chicken pot pie to chicken masala. But the thing that stands out is that every dish is uniquely flavored and flavored so well. The portions are large and the prices are very good. I cannot say enough good things this place. Trust me, I was pleasantly surprised, but the Salty Dog is now one of my regular spots for lunch and dinner.

Ordered the Salmon dinner and it took about 45 minutes before they brought it out to me. The bartender/waiter kept telling me that the chef was cutting the Sslmon fresh for me. Hmm??? So tired from work, I just took it to go. Thankfully the meal was tasty.

As a firefighter I really liked the theme of this bar. It was a really comfortable setting with a friendly bar tender, cold beer, and delicious Irish nachos.

With plenty of space and sufficient tables, lots of large-screen monitors for viewing sports or other events, full bar, good menu of bar food, and friendly, festive patrons, Salty Dog on 75th Street & 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn is a reliable night out of fun. Any evening is good, but Wednesday it really picks up and, of course, Friday & Saturday evenings are best!

Big portions of delicious food. American, italian, irish, or Mexican served. Great bar and very friendly staff.

We always end up here when visiting our east coast family. We love the local feel and inviting atmosphere. The last time we were there we got some food and were pleasantly surprised. They have a Karaoke night and we stumbled in for that and had a blast. 3rd Ave is our favorite in Brooklyn and The Salty Dog is our favorite bar on it. Stop on in and have fun.

Great little gem in the heart of Bayridge! Friendly staff, great service, killer drinks & food! My niece was married here and they gave her impeccable service! This is their local hangout and we visited several times during our trip to the city. It was obvious why they love this place and chose to get married here and make use of their party room.

Met up with friends there for drinks and food. The waitress was slow. Didn’t know what type of bun was on the burger. Didn’t give me utensils and napkins. Like why would I have to ask for that?

Easy place to walk in with friends for a beer and a game. Crowd thickens late on Fridays and Saturdays as it evolves from a family-friendly bar to a local singles party. Food is typical wings-plus pub menu. Solid and reliable. Service is friendly.
Not to be missed
As we were visiting family in the area, the first time it was handy. We returned a number of times as we were so impressed by the atmosphere, service and quality of food.
