We ate here the first night. It was conveniently close to the airport. We sat on the patio and thoroughly enjoyed the view. The food was good, but probably will not return. I had the halibut taco, which were okay. My husband had a seafood pasta which he loved, but the portion was small for him.

They made our anniversary dinner wonderful! The staff had a happy anniversary card on the table with rose petals❤ The food was delicious. Great view of the river.

The view is wonderful, the food is wonderfully prepared especially the signature clam chowder and Steelhead. The service is impeccable from waitresses who have served at Saltys for years. It was a wonderfully delicious experience which we plan to repeat.

This was my third time at this restaurant. All three were business dinners. What a great restaurant. The food is amazing. On this visit, I had the halibut steak which was in season and fresh. I’ve not had anything bad at this place. The food is always cooked perfectly and the drinks are cold. They have a full drink menu including some local beers. What tips everything off is the view. They are right on the river front and if you can get a table upstairs, the view is amazing. Highly recommended for any business or casual dinner.

My husband and a friend both remembered this place which is near the airport. We made reservations for our last night there and had a table facing the window to see the Columbia River. Great atmosphere with a jazz band playing and sailboat races on the river. We started with Slap salad and Chowder Cup. Delicious for both and could easily have filled up on these. Three of us had the King Salmon and it was outstanding. My husband had the Halibut and there was nothing left on his plate as it was great. For dessert we had the White Chocolate Mousse and the Creme Brulee. This was a great way to end our trip to Oregon. We will definitely recommend this place and will be back!

Enjoyed the beautiful views of the river. The apps were very good including the prime rib sliders and coconut shrimp. The server was attentive and friendly.

Only a little pricey within the Portland area, free valet, beautiful location and courteous staff are some of the assets. Unlimited snow and dungenes crabs and more satisfy your appetite expectation and we recommend it to everyone 👍👍👍

Great evening. The food was excellent; the fish was fresh and tasty, and items like the Oysters Rockefeller and Clam Chowder were even better. The view overlooking the river at sunset was great. And kudos to the servers. We were planning an "adult" dinner, but someone's sitter cancelled and so we had two little ones joining us. The servers were extremely helpful in helping us manage the additonal "diners" so that we, the children, and the other customers all enjoyed the evening.

We reserved a table on the second floor close to the window overlooking the Columbia River. We were set at a round table for 6 which was perfect. 2 people had the prawns & scallops combo, 2 others had the Salmon. The winning dinners weere the Smoked Steelhead. All the meals were delicious. The 2 boys loved the San Juan Selzers. All of the adult drinks were well prepared. The service was very friendly and proficient. They brought out a desert with a candle for the birthday boy. We have bought a gift certificate for our family so they can go back soon.

My family has been going to Salty's for over 13 years, and we have made it a tradition to go to their bunch buffets for special occasions. Customer service at the table is always excellent. However, we have encountered a couple of times in the past where the receptionists sometimes can be a little cold for some reason. The food, in general, is above average, but their crabs and oysters are spectacular. The brunch buffet selection is enormous and diverse. It is typical to have this be the sole meal for the day. We always get window or outdoor seating to enjoy the view of the Columbia. And, we always pay the minor extra cost of unlimited mimosas with the brunches. Parking can be a challenge during peak hours, but we learned early to just take advantage of the free valet service. We will keep coming back to Salty's for many years more.

Although it’s a little pricey, it’s worth it! Food was plentiful and cooked perfectly. Varied menu so everyone can find things they like - even picky eaters. Ezra was an incredible waiter! Highly recommended!

Another delicious and enjoyable evening. We had the seafood Cioppino and smoked Steelhead - both delicious. Pinot Noir Phelps Creek and Pino Gris very good recommendations from our server: Colleen. Colleen was friendly, professional, attentive without being intrusive. The top notch Jazz trio made the the evening an extremely enjoyable experience. We will return.

Lovely place. Good food and service with. G-R-E-A-T view. A bit pricey, but worked well for a special occasion (BDay & Anniversary celebration).

8 of us went on a Sunday evening to celebrate a birthday . We chose this venue because 4 of us had had good experiences there in the past and it won out over another suggestion. From the time we ordered to the time a bowl of soup arrived for one person it was just over half an hour. There were no rolls offered to the table and as we found out later they had actually run out of bread rolls but didn't even offer bread and butter. The food arrived another hour later so in total we had been waiting 1 1/2 hours. I ordered the special of the day which was a coho salmon on smashed potato($60) which arrived dry, overcooked and not very hot. I had to ask for a bechamel sauce side just to make it palatable. There was no way I was sending it back because I was starving and who knows how long a replacement would take. My friend ordered the steamed lobster ($85) that was a bit rubbery which came with about 1/2 a chopped up roasted potato and was actually charred on the claws. Surely at these prices the restaurant could toss in a little side of veggies or green salad. The reason we found out that there was no bread available was because 2 people who had ordered cioppinno asked for more bread to sop up the juices but were told no they had none, but then they were offered toast points instead. Excuse me but the toast points were simply toasted bread! No one was in the mood for dessert after the disaster that passed for dinner so I can't comment on the dessert fare.

Two meals there for me. Both were excellent. Broad menu, easy to modify. Great location, great service. Crazy expensive. Saving my money to go back next time in PDX.

We took our college student here for a nice meal off campus. I had read mixed reviews, but in our case the restaurant was fantastic. We had a table with a view, our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly and the food was fantastic. I will say we had some awful service in other restaurants over the weekend that we visited, so it was really nice to receive good service. We will definitley go back.

GF menu options are mostly salad or cold stuff and Portland is a rather damp chilly place so not what I wanted. But I ordered the open face crab melt sandwich with no bread but with war corn tortillas and a side salad without croutons. The sauce for that sandwich has gluten so they melted Parmesan cheese of the crab and put tomatoes on the side. Great crab tacos!! But they aren’t on the menu. No entrees or soup or sandwiches are GF or are noted as modifiable to GF. Good luck! Extra star for the beautiful view

The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and escorted to our seat. When a table opened up next to the water, we were able to move there and watch the action on the river. The grilled fish was perfectly seasoned and great with the salad. The service was great- not too much and yet attentive to our needs. Easy to find- go here when in Portland, Oregon. Don’t forget to order the Baked Alaska!!!

This place was recommended by a few people and did not disappoint. We sat out on the patio which has great views of the water. The food was fantastic. We had calamari as an appetizer and two of us had the trout for dinner, while another had the fish tacos.

Let me be clear that the only reason I took off two stars was the slow service. Not one star slow, TWO STARS SLOW. We understand that businesses are hurting for employees, and restaurants are especially affected. That said, if you can't handle the volume of business, then don't fill so many tables, period. Close off part of a room if you have to, but don't make seated patrons wait 25 minutes for a drink (no exaggeration), or 40 minutes for an appetizer. I read reviews about super slow service (in other restaurants) all the time but have never experienced it like this. After a while the conversation wanes and you find yourselves staring at each other in frustration. And you have to feel sorry for the servers who are on the front lines. Where's the "manager" walking the floor apologizing to people? Why throw the servers out there to explain why the kitchen is so far behind? They have no part in the decision-making processes in the back. When you call or walk in, they ask if you're celebrating anything. Who cares about celebrations if dinner's going to take 2.25 hours? We felt bad for our server, but if he's not serving food because the kitchen is so far behind, then where is he? So we said nothing, but he could feel it, and not just from us. Everyone around us was searching for their servers so we assume they were short-staffed, too. Now, the food was excellent! The calamari was perfectly seasoned and fried crispy. But I have to say that the smoked steelhead was as close to perfection as one could get. I've eaten my share of fish over my lifetime, but this may have been the finest pink-fleshed fish I've ever had! Absolutely wonderful. In the end, our server (whose name escapes me) brought out a complimentary white chocolate mousse cake for dessert. Nice touch on his part, and he was well rewarded. We understand his frustration also. My advice is to give Salty's a try, BUT don't go at the prime dinner hour.

Very nice meal, celebrating our 25th anniversary which the restaurant was kind enough to acknowledge. Dinner was nice the somewhat small portions.

Excellent food prep with an inventive touch. Halibut was fresh and delicious. Great view of the Columbia. A little pricey, but worth it. .

My family had a fantastic evening at Salty’s. After a long day of travel and hiking we wanted a place to sit, relax, and enjoy good food and drink. We got so lucky choosing Salty’s. We sat outside along the river and the view was beautiful. The food and drinks were top shelf. The service couldn’t have been better. These people take great pride in their work and their product. It’s obvious. I’d go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend it!

Our children took us here for dinner and are we happy. Great food, service, and wines. Ahmed was great in taking care of our needs. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Excellent food, fingerling potatoes and Brussels sprouts and the bread was out of this world! Beautiful setting outside. A bit on the pricey side for entrees. Our wait person was amazing - friendly, informative and attentive. Overall great dining experience.

Beautiful Columbia River view. It was a Saturday breakfast. Team members were super nice. We ordered Coffee, Pineapple Mimosa, Calamari, bowl of Seafood Chowder, Crab Cake Benedict with fresh fruit, Paella and a basket of pastry. Fantastic food and came with a surprise slice of super tasty White Chocolate Mousse cake.

Went back after visiting this place a year ago and experienced the exact same thing. Food and wait staff were exceptional and the noise was so loud we virtually had to shout across the table to hear each other. There must me a way to add sound reducing systems as this is such a great restaurant. When you come across the entire country to visit friends, you want a reasonably quiet restaurant. Would recommend going very early as the din is very, very loud!!!

Another great Anniversary dinner!!!! Staff was great, food fantastic and views of the river were relaxing...love this place!!

After picking up a friend at the airport, we drove to Salty's for dinner. We chose Salty's not only because it was close to the airport but that on a clear day the view is marvelous. When we arrived the restaurant was full. We were surprised that it would be so busy on a Wednesday evening. All three of us had Steelhead for our main course. For desert two chose choclate mousse while the others chose creme brulee. We enjoyed a bottle of L'Ecole Chenin Blanc with dinner.

Absolutely fabulous restaurant on the Columbia. The food & ambiance are spectacular, in my opinion. We celebrated our sons birthday with cocktails, appetizers and brunch. The crab cakes are divine as are the coconut prawns. Our server, Jonathan was very attentive & knowledgeable of the menu. We highly recommend this gem!

Our place to go in Portland for a great meal, service and view. Christian is a professional server and David is an outstanding general manager. She is super at keeping you happy and well satisfied with such a positive attitude! David is around and sees what is happening in the restaurant. Food was great! Try the coconut shrimp and crab cakes. Go for it!

Excellent service by a beautiful server named James, who was attentive and efficient. Our meals were salmon, crab/shrimp Louis, crab Mac & cheese, and a prawn appetizer. The setting is peaceful and beautiful. We will definitely return on a future visit to the area!

Busy and we did not have reservations but were seated in about 7 minutes. Scenic water views of Columbia River. We watched sail boats. The chief is an artist! Presentations were lovely. Cloth table cloth and napkins added to the pampered feel. Wonderful seafood. Try the scallops and prawns! Will eat there again.

Arrived a little early for our 4 PM reservation to celebrate our anniversary, the valet parking wasn’t set up yet, and we had forgotten my husband’s handicapped parking plaque. The hostess kindly directed us to an empty parking space near the door. Off to a good-feeling start. We’ve eaten here a few times before, but it was quite romantic for someone to sprinkle rose petals on our tablecloth and leave a congratulatory card. Also the dining room is significantly quieter at 4 PM. My coffee was kept hot by attentive servers. The dishes we ordered were perfect and topped off with a complementary slice of cake. Wedding dejavu all over again as Yogi Berra used to say. . Attention to big snd little details made for a special dinner.

Jerry King and his team do a great job offering local ingredients, great service and an uniquely wonderful view of the Columbia River. And, I love that they allow dogs on leashes in their outdoor seating areas.

Our disappointing visit to Salty's started as soon as we walked through the door. We had requested a river view window table and were told there were none and it would be a long wait so we were seated elsewhere. However, very shortly after we were seated 2 window tables opened up. The patrons had already paid their bill ! It was then obvious that the staff had just not wanted to bother and had deliberately misinformed us about availability. The disappointments continued from there ! When ordering my wife inquired about the sauce on a certain dish, as she does not care for spicy food, and was told it was a butter sauce. It actually was a harissa - a hot chili paste from Tunisia. The couple with us both ordered halibut which was delivered dried out - it had obviously been overcooked or spent time under a heat lamp. They did not eat it. My dish was marginal at best. So, my recommendation - don't go to Salty's !! It is living on reputation and the only thing it has going for it is the location, certainly not the food or service.

Exceptional food, service and environment. Our server was wonderful and very knowledgeable of the menu and the food. She made some great recommendations and went the extra mile to make sure we were enjoying our experience. I had a wonderful seafood bucatini meal along with an Old Fashioned, and some seafood artichoke dip for an appetizer.

After a disappointing meal at Salty's on the Columbia I emailed the Assitant to the GM directly (the contact I was given when I asked how to get in touch with a manager). This is what I emailed, and since I have not received a response, not even a "Thank you for your feedback, as this is our busiest time of year, we will respond in detail as soon as possible" kind of thing, I am posting my email here. "I had lunch yesterday at Salty's as part of a group of around 14 women. I have heard about the restaurant and was looking forward to eating there as I love seafood (I'm a pescatarian). Unfortunately, while your staff were uniformly polite and attentive, the service was not great and the food itself was not good. I was immediately disappointed because our group was seated with a view of the parking lot and the road, not the river, which I had been hoping for, and since the restaurant wasn't busy, it seems could have been accommodated. In terms of my actual meal, I asked the waiter why there was an asterisk next to the fish tacos, since, as you know, the menu explains this as "Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs increases your risk of foodborne illness, especially if you have certain medical conditions." I was surprised by this since I have often had fish tacos, whether from street vendors, or beachfront restaurants in Mexico, or at starred restaurants in Europe, but I have never had them served "rare," for want of a better word. This didn't sound appetizing to me so I confirmed with the waiter that the cod would be fully cooked. In fact it wasn't, and in retrospect I now understand the asterix, but it seems the waiter didn't know the menu correctly. So I guess I got what I ordered, but I didn't enjoy it, and the taco shells themselves were a terrible texture - were they soft? were they crispy? - and impossible to pick up, which is really how tacos should be eaten. Since I was reduced to eating them with a knife and fork, I then found myself trying to cut into a soggy taco in an attempt to get a bite that didn't also include the wet paper they were inexplicably served on. The accompanying salsa tasted of nothing but jalapeno. I did enjoy aioli on the tacos, although it looks unfortunately like 100 Island Dressing, and the chips were good, but that's about it."

Salty’s is such a landmark in Portland! We have not been here in years! Friends arrived from out of town and so we splurged. Our service was good. I started off with a drink that I swear had no alcohol. Next our dinners arrived. My crab and shrimp Louie was a decent size , but the dressing lacked flavor. My husband ordered a side a mashed potatoes. The first bite was so satisfying, but there were lumps throughout the rest of the bowl. The mango sorbet was spot on! For the price, I really expected more!

Overall, I enjoyed my brunch. A little over priced, but quite a variety of selections. Seafood were good, could use a better cut of roasted beef and a more generous cut. Desserts were a little off, not quite compatible with the other dishes.

Outstanding seafood and service Salty"s is on of the two best restrauants I have eaten; their chowder is the best I ever tasted plenty of sea food and the sauce was very very good.

Went to this restaurant for the first time with another couple. The inside was really nice, great view outside of Columbia River. However the menu was very limited and very pricey. You get nothing except your entrée, nothing with it, no soup, no salad, and the one that was the real deal breaker "NO Bread". I have never been to any high end restaurant that didn't serve Bread and Butter served to you. The food was o.k., and the service good, but not worth the cost. Asked for a desert menu and it was equally limited, not even a good piece of cheesecake could be found.

Excellent meal. First time eating steelhead. Loved it. Had the seafood chowder...may be the best I've ever had! Our son got the fried chicken (really?) and said it was delicious! The view was wonderful. Glad our daughter in law chose Salty's. Hope to come here again on our next visit.

My raw oysters were pretty "summery" which is fine but the waiter could've warned as much. Chowder with crab was excellent. Copper River Sockeye salmon was quite good, but I wasn't asked how to have it cooked, and I'd say it was a bit overcooked. This place may suffer a little from being "that nice restaurant you can go to on special occasions". It's unfortunate to have to say it about a building that doesn't seem all that old, but it is pretty dated inside. Very nice view of the river, but the window immediately below my table was almost opaque with dirt and grime.

We went to Salty's as a last-minute choice not knowing what it would be like. It's a bit out of the way but somewhat close to the Portland airport. The view overlooks the Marina and the mountains along the Columbia River. Our server was wonderful and recommended a bottle of wine that we loved. Food was great including clam chowder and special of the day which was haddock. Very good!

My friends and I had a fabulous lunch at Salty's. The waiter was attentive to our needs and brought our food orders in a timely fashion. Because we arrived there by 11:45 a.m., we missed the rush of patrons 45 minutes later. The timing made all the difference. Our food was fresh, mainly seafood dishes, and no one complained about their meals. Since one of the people in our party is a professional gourmet cook, she noted the quality of the fish. All good!

My husband and I love Salty’s On The Columbia! The food is amazing and the service is outstanding! During the summer, we love to eat outside on the deck. In cooler weather, we love the beautiful restaurant with all the windows. The bar is cozy. There are beautiful views of the river from the deck and the restaurant. The Manager, Laura Reeder, is amazing! She makes sure that your dining experience is perfect.

We celebrated our anniversary by going to Salty’s and while the service was excellent, I’m glad we mostly ordered from the Happy Hour menu. We always order crab cakes at seafood restaurants so we ordered one as an appetizer. It was large in size but small in flavor. I kept dipping it into the sauce but that lacked flavor too. One crab cake was $17 and it did not impress. The coconut shrimp was good and so were the blackened fish tacos.

Excellent view, service and food. Visited on a Monday evening while waiting for early morning flight to the east coast. Theodore was a very helpful waiter on the local entrees. We enjoyed drinks, oysters, salads and deserts. Highly recommend!!

After hearing great reviews about Saltys we decided to try it, we sat outside and had beautiful views. I was wanting scallops but I didn’t see them on the menu! We got oysters Rockefeller they were delicious and huge! I tried their fish chowder it’s was also delicious but they didn’t offer SD bread or crackers. Overall everything was just ok, the service felt rushed, my drink didn’t get served until after our meal was served and I packed up my untouched shrimp/crab salad and left .. somewhat disappointed. If I go again I will make a point to slow the service down myself.

I have been to Salty's in Alki several times. My sis in law mentioned this location so we went last Sunday. Brunch was excellent, first tip, make a reservations, which we did and got right in. Our server was very nice and got us started. I always go for the crab and steamers which were heaven! The food was amazing so much so we were sad we did not leave room for much dessert. I would return in a heartbeat. Love the fact Salty's offers brunch Saturdays as well.

Started off on a business trip in Seattle and had to spend two days training in Portland so we drove down and arrived at 7 PM and looked for recommendations. After consulting TripAdvisor we tried Saltys. You were all right on and we were not disappointed. The view was wonderful. The bread is fresh and comes from a local well-known bakery. My rose wine was local from the Willamette Valley. Being in the Pacific Northwest I had to have my favorite fish halibut. Perfectly prepared and when I told them of my food allergy there was no problem with changing anything with the meal. We knew we would be training until 6 PM the next day and had early morning flights and decided simply to go back and have our second meal also at Saltys. Of course being a Friday night it was much busier and we waited a little while for our meal. But since we had waited long and our waiter knew we had been there the night before he brought each of us a complimentary dessert. The wait staff are fabulous and they know their wines and specials without having to ask. Highly highly recommended and next time I’m in the area I will bring more people here.

Our nearby hotel recommended this spot and we were delighted! We were fortunate to get a table in the bar for an excellent happy hour. Good and reasonable drinks and appetizers. Jack was exceptional. On a clear day the views over the river are really super. On a weekend there were lots of families enjoying dinner. By the time we left there was a line out the door.

My wife and I were exceptionally happy with the quantity and quality of our appetizers and entrées (Seafood chowder, focaccia bread, garlic prawns-scallops and mahi mahi). It had been many years since we last visited for dinner and both surprised and very satisfied at the wonderful tableside service and tastiness of food. What REALLY needs to be called out and commended was Ryan, the assistant General Manager who exemplified a "gold standard" of customer service and how to handle a negative issue not attributable to the Portland office's operation(s). My wife has simply raved about his actions, interactions, professionalism and ultimately how he resolved our issue. Another in our party outright wanted to hire him away from Saltys! Such great actions and behavior are just so hard to find these days (coming from a long-time senior manager and senior sales associate in different industries).

This is an excellent spot along the Columbia River for a nice meal albeit expensive with views of the river. The restaurant is dated but that gives it some of its charm. The upstairs dining room in semi-oval so more tables have a view. The wine selection was also excellent. Close to the airport, there's definitely a business crowd at lunch.

We visited Salty's for a birthday celebration. This place does birthdays with style. No singing waiters (thank goodness) but a nice birthday card on the table and a complimentary dessert. Service was prompt and friendly, and the food was delicious. I know where we're going for my birthday next year!

A bartender in Seattle recommended Salty's, and we followed up with everyone we met in Portland who all agreed. Since we stayed in downtown, it was a bit of a hike to get to. We came for a later dinner (7:30pm) so it was too dark to enjoy the view...or the aircraft approaching the airport which would have been enjoyable! The menu is quite large, so we chose to stick to app size portions to try a few different things. Not one disappointed. The service was also friendly, helpful, and on top of things!

Boy…have these guys gone downhill. Sat at our table and it didn’t look like we were going to get anybody to wait on us and just when we were almost gonna get up a leave a waitress came over and said well let me at least get you guys started on some drinks since you’ve been sitting here a while :| Use to always be able to count on Salty’s for a great meal and excellent service, well not anymore. They use to have the best fish and chips with the best tartar sauce. Not the same tarter sauce, fish was barely fried and french fries…well I have had way better for a lot less money. Told waiter about tartar sauce and he told me well things change. Well they certainly do sometimes…but my mind won’t change about not going back to Salty’s again.

Waiter Aaron was wonderful--engaging, kind, and very attentive. Birthday confetti and card was such a beautiful touch (glad we booked through OpenTable, the restaurant paid attention to the celebration and the preferences I noted). Entrees were excellent (we got Mahi Mahi and Steelhead) but some of the vegetable sides I would rethink (bok choy, for example, was just nasty and the peppers and jalapeños were also unappetizing with the Steelhead). Desserts were absolutely incredible. Oh. My. Goodness. Got the white chocolate mousse cake for our birthday treat and the apple galette. both absolutely delicious. The almond mousse with the apple galette. Wow. View of the Columbia was fun (watched a blue heron fish and a couple of sailboats go by). Proximity to airport huge bonus (flying home right after a great birthday lunch with my sis). Excellent experience. Highly recommended.

A very excellent seafood establishment. Chowder was yummy. Steelhead fish was prepared to perfection. Service was great too.

We dined at Salty’s on a recent trip to Portland. It offers wonderful views of the Columbia River, but falls short on food quality and service. In our party of 4 no one had a meal they considered above average, service was slow and food not very warm. Tried to redeem themselves by offering a couple of desserts on the house. Price tag for this mediocre experience far too high.

My wife were in Portland for one night on our way to go hiking. We were celebrating our anniversary so we decided to go with Salty's. From the get-go, the service was great. The food we had was exceptional, great presentation, and for a restaurant of its caliber, reasonably priced as well. They even through in a piece of cake for our anniversary which was very kind of them. We would definitely come back!

There were a million tables open yet they told us it was a 1 hour wait. We went upstairs to the bar and ordered food there. The bartender was super nice and friendly, unlike the rude male hostess downstairs. The spinach artichoke appetizer was literally 7 stale tortilla chips and the entrees were so tiny and mediocre. 30 bucks for half an ounce of mac n cheese. The view and ambience is lovely, but I advise to soak in the sights, not the food.

Excellent food and service. Christian is a real professional and we love seeing her each time we are in. Very easy to work with an a great personality. Valet parking is great and also very friendly. David, General Manager, checks tables and helps with serving. Very active manager which is great. We have gone to more than one Salty's and this is the best. Halibut with Crab and Avocado was outstanding as were the garlic scallops (very large) and prawns. Best place in Portland for the food, service and view. Will be back!

We frequently visited Salty's on the Columbia for Happy Hour. We did so this week and it was warm enough to sit outside. Bring sunglasses as the Sun will be right in your eyes at that time of day. They have a decent selection of HH drinks and the food is sufficient to make a meal out of it. The biggest portions are the hamburger and the fish & chips. They mix is up on a regular basis. Two in our party had the Steelhead Ceasar Salad which was great. The view tops it off. A definite spot for HH, but get there before 5.

This is a great place to eat. The food is great and the views are great. Good service just a reallt nice place

I was searching for a place that served Dungeness Crab, my favorite. Well, it turns out, not too many places do. I got a recommendation for Salty's, so that's where we went. The crab cocktail I ordered was only so-so, but the rest of our party loved the Steel head Trout. I also ordered a side of asparagus which was great. The cheesecake for dessert was enough to feed 3 or 4 people, and was very good. The service was great, as were the views.

We loved Salty’s. This restaurant is very tastefully decorated and has a great atmosphere. The service was great and the food was good.

Came for the happy hour stayed for dinner. Sat outside to watch the action on the river. Meghan was the perfect server knowledgeable of the menu there at just the right time, just a delight . A small but Mighty Wine by the glass selection enjoyed a nice Austrian White wine. Then a cup of chowder it was very good. For dinner, I enjoyed the special scallops shrimp roasted asparagus over a bed of saffron orza topped with fried leeks. A glass of Chardonnay rounded out of perfect evening.

We were in Portland to celebrate my birthday and decided on Salty's as our dinner venue. We were not disappointed. We were seated at a window river-view table and had a fabulous dinner. My husband had a bourbon mule which was delicious while I enjoyed a very good Chardonnay. Our service was exceptional, and our dinners were perfect. Halibut for me, the seared tuna special for my husband. The cheesecake was amazing, encased in chocolate with a chocolate cookie crust. The prices are high, but it was worth it for a special occasion. We'll be back!

Incredible food and service. The chef makes every dish very special. The river view is simply the final touch to a perfect meal.

We love Salty’s. We try to set aside time for Salty’s when ever traveling (from chicago) to Portland or Seattle. The waitstaff is nice and polite and the food is great, and the view is fantastic. Our meal did take a bit of time, but I like staying a little longer and enjoying the experience. (We call it dining European style, being able to take our time) The waiter brought us a complimentary dessert for the “wait”, it was unexpected and appreciated.

I have been coming to Salty’s for 30 years and it is a reliably good seafood restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. On this trip I took my family for dinner on the patio. The food was great as always, but portions were smaller than I remember for the price. The reason for a four of five rating? The service! Our waiter was truly an as***ole! He took forever to greet us, take any orders, or check in with us as each course arrived. We had to ask another waiter to take our dinner order. Then, our waiter tried to turn on the charm at the end to make up for his lack of care, but his false enthusiasm just ticked us off even more. We wanted to linger so it did not ruin the evening, but now I am in the mood to try other restaurants when I return to the area. Insist on excellent service if you try Salty’s!

I came in solo and was told 5 minute wait. I asked if I could wait in the bar and was told they would come get me when table was ready. Waited 5+ minutes at the bar for someone to serve me. Then, ordered a beer and was given a tab to pay immediately. Slowly drank my beer waiting for a table. Tried to pay but no one picked up for a while. I am thinking the bar manager finally picked up. Went downstairs to check on my table and was told they called my name with no answer and passed me by..... bummer. By now, I was there for 45 minutes. Was then given a table next to the bathroom (when there were mulitple window tables and next to window tables available. 10 minutes after being seated, a server arrived and took a drink order and app order. Continued to wait. I was getting ready to walk out when the wine arrived. Very good Chardonnay. I waited and watched my server work. 10 minutes later someone else brought my app. Clam chowder was very good. Chowder finished and taken away by another server. Finally, my server stops by to finish my order. I just asked for bill. 90 minutes later I walked out. Good beer, wine, chowder.... but terrible customer service from start to finish. Too bad for a Monday night that was only about 40% occupied.

We had a wonderful dinner with our family and perfect weather for patio eating! All of our entrees were delicious. Our server was sweet but forgot our appetizer. It didn't matter to us when the entrees arrived, they were good sized meals.

Stepping outside of the box and trying something that we don’t have available to us back home I ordered the blackened steelhead and my husband the black cod . Both were excellent. We sat outside overlooking the river which was beautiful. The occasional jet overhead didn’t bother us as the service and food was fabulous.

Great restaurant! It is in a very pretty setting overlooking the Columbia River. The atmosphere is nice for a special occasion dinner but is also fine for a casual evening. There is a small outside seating area and the dining room has large windows overlooking the boats and docks on the river. My husband had the Scallops Special, he said it was very good. I had the Red King Crab, it was also very good but a little pricey. I also had a Prawn Cocktail, very good but the sauce was a little spicy, it helped to stir it a little. We asked for bread and there was an extra $5.00 charge for a basket full of bread. Most restaurants include bread with your meal without charging extra. The manager walked around quite a bit just looking around but he never stopped to visit with any of the diners. Not a very friendly attitude. There was a trio playing which was a nice touch to the atmosphere. Nice location, pretty view, nice dining setting, excellent food, just a little pricey compared to prices where we live. If we lived there it would be a "special occasion" restaurant.

We were passing through and decided to stop here. Excellent service, a gorgeous view and fantastic food. Highly recommend.

Quality of food poor, customer service poor, noisy, highly price. Is on my list of never again. servers talking over the food that you are going to eat

What a wonderful seafood eatery. First its neighborhood is dazzling sitting atop the Columbia River with a yacht harbor below. The restaurant is alluring inside and just the right combination of spontaneously refined. The cuisine is the star here as the seafood is virginally crisp and prepared deliciously. I had the shrimp and crab louie which was succulent and then the coho salmon prepared just right. My waiter was a seafood expert and very welcoming. If you're an out of towner it's so nice to try the Oregon wines. I had a Pinot Gris to start and topped off my feast with a delish Pinot Noir.

Stopped in with an out of town family member for some lunch and to take in the view. We had fish tacos, tuna melt and an open-faced crab melt. The first two were pretty good, but the crab melt was served on only one piece of toast with very little crab underneath the cheese sauce for a whopping $24! I didn't want to take anything away from our family get together so I just let it go without complaining about my meal. I do have a gift card that I'll probably use for their Sunday brunch as that is usually pretty good although really pricey. After that we probably won't be back. The service wasn't anything to scream about either.

We wanted to find some great seafood and have a really nice meal the night before leaving our week long vacation. Stumbled upon this place online and it got great reviews. We now know why. Lovely view. Food was amazing. Staff was great. Sooo glad we found this place before we left. Spendy but worth the price for good seafood.

My family and I are frequent diners at Salty's on the Columbia. Our Valentine's Day dinner with 9 family members was a perfect end for the day. Our server, Colleen, was very attentive, knowledgeable about menu questions, and always positive and smiling as she attended to the needs of nine diners. Needless to say, the food was exceptional as was our dining experience. I highly recommend Saly's!!

Had a business meal here. Food was fantastic and the views over the river are wonderful. Make a reservation as this place gets booked up! Seafood is to die for, fresh and perfectly cooked!

We had oysters, clams and the Mac and cheese. The food was good as always but I wish they had the muscles with the clams on this visit. The menu was limited due to Covid but we did get to eat inside which was nice.

We were there on New Year's Eve and were a little surprised very weren't busier, but glad since we made last-minute reservations. Love the smoked Sturgeon dish. It is hard to find Sturgeon on menus and really enjoyed finding it at Salty's. We had wanted the whole fresh crab, but because of the holidays they were unable to get fresh supplies. But, we order the 1-pound of crab lags to go with the Sturgeon and that more than satisfied out crab craving. The prices are in line with other top seafood restaurants in Portland and the service was prompt and friendly. We there after dark, so the river views were't much and it is a bit isolated, but worth the effort.

If I said that the meal I had at this restaurant is the best I had since 2009, I wouldnt be lying. The staff were very welcoming, the hostess, the waitress Nancy, the waiter who was nice enough to offer to take my pic when I was struggling with a selfie. The CHEF, I wanna thank him big time. I asked the waitress to deliver my message for him. I had the best Orange roughy dish I have ever had. The restaurant was very busy but nothing was late. The view is great. I highly recommend it. Only plz do have a reservation before you go.

There is no doubt the food at Salty’s is good. But there’s also no doubt it’s very pricey. Brunch for two will easily sit you back $100 if you have champagne and I seriously doubt that anyone can eat $50 of food even if you stick to the high value options. The view of the river is a high point. Make reservations if you plan to go at any time other than opening.

I've been here before for brunch, and I've always have been pleased, and have thought it's one of the, if not the best brunch in the Portland area. However this time we came on a holiday, namely Thanksgiving, and I left not as pleased as I have been in the past. First of all we made our reservation for Thanksgiving Brunch about 2 months ahead of time. We got there right on time but had to wait for over a half hour for a table, and they were letting people in without reservations, who got seated at about the same time, if not earlier than us. It's a very popular place so it was extremely crowded. The staff were very nice however, and they have a lot of staff. The location of this restaurant is one of it's big pluses, right on the Columbia river, and if you are lucky enough to get a table by the windows on the second floor you just couldn't beat the view, however most of the tables do not have that view, and we were squeezed in to a little two person table, in a far dark corner near the restrooms, cheek to jowl with another tiny table. I guess I expected that for making reservations so far in advance we might have gotten something just a little better. The buffet however is good for the most part.. The turkey was very good, and all of their sea food is good, and their King Crab legs are very popular. Their stuffing was just big chunks of bread however and the candied sweet potatoes were rather weird. I did have a very good Bloody Mary however. Still we left full, but for 75 bucks a person I think I expected a little better experience. We may go here again for brunch or for a regular dinner, but I think we will skip the holidays.

Wonderful experience. My wife and I had prawns and mahi, that were reasonably priced (today’s market) and delicious. Kevin, our server, was first rate! Great view from our table.

We stopped in here late on a Friday night and were seated right away. Beautiful view. Our server was accomodating and very polite. We both had the Fish and Chips with a side of Creamed Spinach; then Baked Alaska and Cheesecake for dessert. It was all very good.

The halibut was so light and flaky and fresh. I'm not much of a fish guy but it was great. The potatoes were also great. The spinach dip was so good and the clam chowder lived up to the hype. The calamari was fresh, which makes all the difference. The place got packed, inside and out. We had an awesome waitress Corin (I think), and I bought the coolest (and most expensive) salmon colored shirt.

We’ve been coming to Salty’s for years to hear MelBrown Trio and have great food and views, but new staff at the entrance has made it feel very unwelcoming. Last time I witnessed the glamorous gatekeeper at the front desk turn away a Black family saying minors are not allowed in the lounge area. (We’ve brought our grandkids to have dinner and hear Mel Brown Trio in the lounge for years.) Last night we were told by an unfriendly gatekeeper that we couldn’t go upstairs to the lounge without reservations and they were fully booked. (We’ve never had reservations for the lounge.) Because we had a gift for Mel Brown, we did go up, saw only one of eight tables had patrons, talked to staff in the lounge and were seated. Four tables in the lounge were empty the entire evening- wonder how many other guests were turned away. We spent $100, but if we’d listened to the Glamorous Gatekeeper, we would have left. We had great food and heard great music but the front staff diminished our experience and does not reflect well on Salty’s.

Great restaurant on harbor outside of Portland. Excellent menu and service. Lots of windows for seating with a view. Definitely a place you should check out while in Portland

Our Washington friends took us to Salty’s on the Columbia for the Sunday brunch. I don’t believe there was a regular menu on Sunday. We arrived for a 12:45 reservation on this Sunday and still waited 25 minutes for a table. There are the usual buffet stations including a custom made egg & crepe and a pasta station. Ready made breakfast items included eggs, bacon, sausage and eggs Benedict. The dessert bar was okay but I’ve had and seen better. There is a chocolate waterfall to dip your fruits etc. The stars of this brunch are the carving station with its prime ribs, beef ribs, ham, Dungeness and snow crabs, shrimp and the raw oysters. Near the kitchen is the carving station with a prime rib roast, bbq beef ribs, ham and the oysters. At this station there is also soup. Today’s soup included a nice seafood chowder. Other food items in the steam tables included trout and seasonal vegetables. As for salads (separate station), not much in the way actual green salads as I only recall seeing a Caesar salad. The cost of the buffet was $52 and there is a $5 senior’s discount. There is an add-on all you can drink champagne option for $10. If you go Saturday, the adult price is $4 less. There is no charge for children 4 years of ages. Ratings breakdown • Price vis-à-vis portion size – good but expensive. Soft drinks and juices included. The value is there if you like seafood and the carving station – ham, prime rib roast and beef ribs. The egg and pasta stations are nice but how much can egg and pasta can you eat? • Quality and taste – above average. Raw oysters were good; hard to screw up raw oysters. Desserts and salads selection could have been better. Desserts were just okay. • Service – even though it is self serve, the servers looked after our needs including water, extra drawn butter for your crab, drinks etc. The servers we had were nice. I would rate the overall food experience as good at 3.75 out of 5; because I like seafood. Notes & Tips • Parking - valet and regular. Parking could be an issue if it’s very busy. We were able to find a spot but other vehicles were circling the lot. • 2 floors. I don’t recall seeing an elevator. • Patio seating is available • Good views from the window seats • Check website for additional information

Had not been here in quite some time. Visited during Portland's annual dining month. Had a very enjoyable meal, with probably the best steelhead I have ever eaten. So fresh and prepared just perfectly. Dessert was a beautiful little lemon tart, although another diner had the Butterscotch Creme Brulee and said it was amazing. Of course the view is amazing.

Very nice restaurant on the Columbia River. Pretty popular so if you can, reservations recommended. My wife and I passed by Salty’s on way to hotel and decided to return for dinner after seeing solid reviews with Trip Advisor (Thank You Contributors). Not disappointed. This is an excellent restaurant with awesome menu and knowledgeable staff. Great wine offerings plus full bar and specialty drinks. Focus on seafood but couple nice steak offerings as well. Would rate on expensive side but I excellent value for your $$.

I suppose this is a place you go for the view from the deck, not so much the food. I got blackened fish tacos. They were slathered with a sauce that killed any taste of anything else. I'm a big fish taco van and these were disappointing.

We’ve been to Salty’s a number of times for Sunday brunch — the best in Portland — but this time we had some business colleagues and went for an early dinner. The food, the service, the view —always the best. Great place to impress people from out of town.

Brian was an excellent waiter, took very good care of us. Great food and a great view of the river. Had the fish tacos and they were great. Perfect stop after flying in from out of state.

We were looking for a nice restaurant close to Portland Airport. Salty's was only only 10 minutes from the airport hotels. We really enjoyed the fresh seafood. We had the halibut and the halibut tacos. The seafood chowder and the creaser salad were both very good. Our waiter, Andrew, was extremely friendly and was very engaged in his job. I highly recommend Salty's for a wonderful dining experience.

Aubrey was our server and she was fantastic. All of the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was perfect. We sat on the patio and overlooked the river. This was a great way to spend our last evening before a late night flight out of Portland.

Hosted a business dinner with clients. Service was exceptional. Started with chowder with a splash of cream sherry. Very nice touch. Moved on to the kale salad. Loved the sugared cranberries. The main course was prosciutto wrapped sturgeon with wild mushrooms. Wow what a dish. Absolutely delectable. Finished with espresso and carrot cake. Very good indeed. Couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. This was about the 10th time I’ve dined at Salty’s. Very consistently excellent.

The view of the sailboats on the Columbia River, delicious fresh food, excellent waitress and wonderful live Friday night jazz music made tonight a memorable experience. The meal was fairly expensive but was fresh and creative. We enjoyed the artwork. Would come back!

We selected Salty”s based of TA readers positive comments on the views and moderately good comments on the food. Our view and service were great. The food not so great. We arrived at our Open Table reserved time of 18:00 and were led up the stairs to the second level. Being somewhat old I asked if there was an elevator. We slowly went up the stairs. We were greeted by our excellent serving team of Andrew and his shadow Justin. We had perused the on line menu and had an idea of our choices. We started out with a couple of excellent Mango chili margaritas consisting of olmec altos resposado tequila, ancho reyes, mango purée, triple sec, fresh lemon and lime juice. Very creative and unique. We paired that with a loaf of their Pearl Baking company Bread with salted whipped butter and seasoned olive oil for an up-charge of $5.00. Quality bread should be inclusive in an upscale restaurant. For her appetizer the wife went with the clams & mussels – Vancouver Island, B.C. with pesto white wine butter broth, bacon lardons and grilled bread. She does not like clams so Andrew put in the order for just mussels. They arrived and she proceeded to remove the meat from the shells, ate two of the mussels and let the bus boy remove the remainder. Maybe we are spoiled, but our experiences have usually been with the Prince Edward Island Island species and those from the northwest area of France. The B.C. version were extremely strong and not to her preference. There was also a lack of lardons...maybe two pieces she found. I had the Dungeness crab cocktail with horseradish cocktail and lemons. This was the best dish of the evening and completely consumed. For our entrees we decided on the two Halibut dishes which were the featured dishes of the month. Andrew indicated they had starting receiving the fish two weeks ago (??) The wife had the pan seared halibut steak with Alaska harissa scented fingerlings, asparagus and lobster saffron cream. This was somewhat overcooked and dry even with the sauce. It was served hot. I had the grilled halibut with Alaska Dungeness crab, avocado and feta salad, chipotle rice pilaf, aleppo chili oil. This was the worst conceived dish we have experienced in a restaurant. The frigid salad had been placed on the top of the fish dropping the temperature to refrigerator levels. A manager removed both entrees from the bill. Even then we paid out $128.00 for two drinks, bread and two appetizers. I cannot recommend this spot to my 408,000 readers that have endured by reviews over the years. Portland is a foodie city. This was not a foodie experience.

Premium quality food and even better service Thank you for a great brunch. Fresh Dungeness crab prime rib Great View. We were impressed.

Justin was a excellent server! 5* from drinks to dessert and everything in between! Huckleberry lemon drop was amazing! Loved the coconut shrimp, chowder, oysters etc! Seriously it was all 5 stars!

You want great seafood, this is a great place. It is amazing. We come here bi-annually and eat here as much as possible. They have great drinks, a very diverse menu. The seafood is so fresh and cooked perfectly. They also have great selections for children.

The views were beautiful and the staff were wonderful. My friends loved their crab. We were celebrating 2 friends birthdays and they decorated the table with confetti and even had a birthday card for them. It looked like they put red rose petals on the table for those celebrating wedding anniversaries. Such a thoughtful touch. The creme brulee was delicious. The asparagus risotto, unfortunately, lacked flavor & the Cesar salad needed more dressing. But overall it was a great experience.

The staff went out of their way to make sure I had a pleasant experience. A server helped me find a place to charge my phone (in town for a conference and just took a side trip for lunch). The restaurant is beautiful and even on an overcast day provided beautiful views of the water. The atmosphere was warm and elegant without being “stuffy” or pretentious.

It was a party of 4 for a Saturday brunch to celebrate the 40th birthday of my son. I made the reservation on Open Table weeks before my trip to Oregon. I specifically requested a table with a view of the river. When we arrived at the appointed time, we waited for 15 minutes despite of a confirmed reservation. When we were finally ushered to a table, which was empty and had a beautiful view of the river, we were reseated to a different table, which didn’t make me happy. The seafoods were not that impressive (crab legs, oysters, salmon, seafood ceviche was watery, ribs were tough). Having experienced a buffet consisting of wide array of seafoods at other restaurants here in the States and and abroad, Salty’s pales in comparison. Overall, it’s mediocre.

Nice outdoor seating area for large groups. Service was friendly, if a little slow at times. Good selection of wines, beers, and cocktails.

We had always heard about Salty's ever since we had relocated back to the Pacific Northwest. My friend Rick raved about their brunches. So we made a reservation. The service was fine. The Calamari great. Then came the main dishes. My loved ordered Shrimp Linguini. The portion of pasta was surprisingly small, and it was topped with 4 not large, not medium, but SMALL shrimp. I ordered the wild Salmon---alledgedly from New Zealand????----served upon risotto. The portion of the the risotto was equally small, but it was easy to see because my portion of Salmon was a small wedge, about 1 inch wide, maybe 1 1'2 inches thik=ck at one end, tampering done to nothing at the other and about 4 inches long. The Salmon was in excess of $45. I was stunned. I said nothing because I am not that kind of guy, and it is one thing to complain about how food is cooked as opposed to how much food is served. Yeah, Salty's has a lovely view, but who cares about that when you are being robbed?

This restaurant has a great location right on the water. The food was over priced I thought. Neither myself nor my husband were overly pleased with the food. I had the Caesar salad and a bowl of bisque. Nothing special. My husband had the fish and it was pretty tasty. The staff seemed a little snooty and not very welcoming from the hostess to the wait staff. My husbands food came out cold and he had to send it back. They did throw in a dessert to make amends which was very nice.

A friend and I had a wonderful dinner on the deck as the sun set. The wait staff was very kind, informative and attentive. Food was good, artichokes, salads, cioppino. Highly recommend. The staff was very respectful of current state mask guidelines.

Oh my God, the Best service, food, and "view" ever!!! My children surprised me for Mothers's Day for my birthday and took me to Salty's. I am from New Orleans, Louisiana and I love seafood prepared any type of way. Salty's will satisfy, and some, all of your cravings. Each time we attended the amazing "Brunch" that delivers your dream entree's of every kind and prepared every way. The multi-leveled "view" is right on the river. In addition, during warm weather days they have outside eating areas available. What is most important to me is service. Each time I've been blown away and made to feel special and at home by from entry to exit. I would highly recommend Salty's restaurant for all occasions & all ages

My wife and I came here for lunch. Even though it was a drizzly day, the view was still peaceful and relaxing. The food and drinks were very good, and the linen table cloth and napkins gives the restaurant an elevated ambiance. The service was good as well. We will definitely be returning.

The food was spectacular as was the view. We were celebrating my college graduation and a free dessert and card came with the meal. I hope to go again

Beautiful spot on the Columbia River. Great selection of seafood dishes. The smoked steelhead was superb. Staff was terrific.

Salty’s on the Columbia Restaurant, where we had a fantastic dinner, is located at 3839 NE Marine Dr., Portland, Oregon (503-288-4444). We don’t know if lunches are served, but suspect that only dinners are served because they offer exceptional cuisine, service & atmosphere, Salty’s is often the place chosen to celebrate special occasions, in this case a birthday. The restaurant provides both indoor and summertime outdoor dining. And being alongside the Columbia River, a delightful view is provided. Also wine, beer and cocktails are available via the restaurant’s bar. Parking is convenient and roomy. The building’s exterior and interior architecture are particularly stylish in keeping that nautical feel that one is “on the River” rather than "next to the River." Now about the food! It was excellent - well prepared, elegantly presented and delicious. The menu offers an exceptional array to choose from with a particular emphasis on “surf & turf”. Prices are somewhat high, but of course, maybe in line for fine dining in a classy restaurant. But if a bargain meal is on your radar, this is the wrong restaurant. And the service – it was outstanding. We were seated quickly though we had made reservations. Service was professional and friendly which made it a fun dinner. And our server kept checking to make sure that our meals were as expected as well as to see if we had other needs requiring further service. And best yet, we were never rushed. Again, the food and the service as well as the atmosphere will bring us back repeatedly as that is where value for a fun dining experience is establish. Go for fine dining at its best on the River - especially to celebrate special events!!

Enjoying dinner outside on the deck provides a fabulous welcome to Portland Oregon and the Columbia River. The service was friendly, informative and prompt. We of course went for fresh seafood, cocktails and desert.

Friday date night. Includes jazz music, nice views on upper level. While the view is nice up top, the music is a bit loud and makes for stilted conversation. The service is both friendly, efficient, and attentive. Prawn pasta is creamy, Caesar salad is just that. Cocktails are tasty. We shared the single entree and salad - read ample serving size - but even tho so noted, it came out on a single plate & bowl. Messy transfers ensued. I do believe that could have made it a 5 star experience. The establishment is a bit tired. But the employees from the hostess to the exit were oh-so-kind.

Wonderful seafood restaurant, service was excellent! Must go to when in Portland. Great view of the Columbia River. Indoor and outdoor dining choices.

Dinner special sound wonderful yet not so much. Cinco special halibut with a crab type topping on a bed of rice. The topping had many pieces of crab shell and the rice was way too hot for most at our table. The Steak looked great and was well received, oysters were very good. Service was great

Great views. Service was excellent. The food was high quality and fresh. We want on Valentines Day so there was a condensed menu but it was still great.

To be honest, it was last summer that we were there for lunch on a weekday. But it was good enough to remember ten months later. We all had seafood dishes, and all were solid - no fishiness. Go for the view, but enjoy the food and the service.

Sally’s is out of the way, hidden along the Columbia River behind the airport, and worth the trip. Excellent seafood dishes, great selection of wines with a Oregon heavy list and nice desserts.

Nicely situated restaurant along the Columbia river. We were seated upstairs with a great view. Friendly and helpful staff. The food was absolutely amazing. The restaurant offers valet and self-parking.

I really hated everything about this except our server. The mats were dirty which should have been a clear warning. I ordered the Dungeness melt on sourdough. Had had it before in Bend and Florence. OMG when it came it looked like vomit, my poor husband was starving so he ate a piece of it and then got sick. Complete tourist trap!

If you want a special dinner, rethink it here. We celebrated our wedding anniversary (3rd, and this was our 5th time to celebrate "us" there in the last 4+years) and it has changed with society in general. We might as well have gone to a pub. It's not their fault, but some things could be improved...noise, professional demeanor, placement of parties). In the past we've really dressed up for this occasion (even a tux once) and although many were casual, we felt fine to do so. I'm so glad I switched from a dress to black jeans and a sweater. I still felt overdressed. It was so loud we had to shout at each to talk, half (at least) the men had ball caps on, even sweatpants/white tee shirts. Kids were loud and wild. We sat by the window with rose petals on our table but it's hard to have a romantic dinner in that environment. The waitstaff girls don't present well in their tight leggings for a restaurant that trys to be upscale. The menu has changed too. Want a burger? I wish them all the best pressing forward but right now Sally's is having a forced major identity crisis. It's just sad.

This is my 4th time to Salty's and my first review. I brag about this place a lot because in the past they have served really good melt-in-your-mouth steak. Well It's been a while since I have been there and I got my steak tonight, it was cooked correctly but the meat was tough and hard to cut /chew. I doubt I will go there again.

Glad we went as the location is wonderful, along the Columbia River and sandwiched in between the PDX runway. Service was fantastic and the food was great. We’ll go again for sure!

We sat in bar, view not as great as dining room however you can’t beat prices. The mojito and mango margarita were great. We shared: oysters, fish & chips, calamari, blackened fish tacos & a fabulous Steelhead Cesar salad. We were surprised with a slice of white cake with strawberries as it was our anniversary. This place is a must, we will be back.

Service was very good even though it was packed/busy. food was delicious, view was spectacular. We hoped for an outside table but settled for indoor as they were all booked. still it was pleasant

This place is WAY overpriced for what you get. We had reservations but still had to wait for 45 min only to be seated on a back table. Service was ok and food was ok but just way too expensive for what you received. It’s a tourist trap and you’re paying for the location only, not the food or the service. Save yourself some $$ and find a better place for the food.

A nice large restaurant with very good service and a nice river view. Halibut is expensive, but quite good. Shrimp and crab louie also good. Pinot noir flight was interesting.

Wonderful experience for dinner after landing and heading here for dinner. I was seated at a wi doe bar table with a great view of the river and sunset. My server was so kind, made great recommendations and was backed up by the sweetest busier and other servers. I had the clams which were some of the best I tasted. I forgot my phone in the car so bummed I didn’t get food pictures but managed to snap some great photos from the parking lot. Would definitely come here again when in town!

First time in Portland and my friend invited me here. Great choice because food is great, service is very attentive and kind, and the river view is awesome. I enjoyed the fish chowder and a Lavender steelhead fish. Great experience!!

Visiting friends who are celebrating their 50th anniversary, so went to dinner at Salty's. Beautiful location, great service, and awesome food. I had the Best Friends entrée (seared scallops, cured pork belly, pomegranate molasses, chili garlic drizzle) while Shelly had the 12 oz. New York Strip entrée (fingerling potatoes, green beans, and mushrooms).

Located on the southern bank of the Columbia River, near the airport and a short drive from downtown Portland, Salty’s is an ideal place to celebrate a family event or treat your guests to a memorable meal. Spatious, beautifully decorated with flowers as well as sea-life, fishing and seafaring motifs interior makes for an unusually attractive ambience. Oversized windows afford the views of the neighboring yacht marina, at the same time permitting observation of various waterfowl. The menu emphasizes seafood – of course - but some meat, vegetarian and vegan propositions are also available. Impressive choice of desserts. My party found all the dishes delicious, fresh and marvelously presented. The service was attentive and courteous, yet not intrusive. Sufficient parking space (free of charge). The bill - quite reasonable, considering the quality of food and the class of the restaurant.

This place is great for families or romantic meal! Food is wonderful, service thoughtful and view is lovely! We went for brunch and great selection! Was surprised and delighted with the shrimp and grits!

Short wait but well worth it. Excellant seafood choices along with other shell fish. friendly and courtious service all along the way. right on the columbia river. Even if its 2 people suggest making a reservation.

We went to Salty’s for one reason, the king crab. They have many other great dishes, and we had some, but for me, king crab. I like the atmosphere and location as it is easy for me to go to when I visit Portland. I recommend Salty’s on the Columbia! (To Travel Is To Live)

This restaurant has everything! Great seafood, great atmosphere, great views and great service! Obviously a long time favorite of the area. Will definitely put this on my “must go” list next time I’m in the area!

The happy hour food and drinks are great the menu and prices cant be beat! Also the Sunday brunch is soooooooo good all the food is fresh and super tasty. All the view of the river is pretty good also.

My wife and I attended for brunch as a friend had recommended. The whole experience was a joy. From the free valet parking to the wait staff. Our server Josh was a great delight, friendly, courteous and very professional. Crab was extremely fresh and delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed myself as did my wife. We will definitely be returning the next time we are in Portland and will be highly recommend to our friends who will be visiting Portland.

We have been going here for years due to the exquisite dining and ambiance. Hands down our favorite restaurant in Portland.

We heard that Salty's was the place to go on the river, so we did. It was sunny so the setting was beautiful, especially on the deck. We went for brunch and I must say the service was fantastic and they were VERY COVID conscientious, which we appreciated. The drinks were very good and my wife's eggs benedict were also very good. I had the Halibut tacos which were just fair as everything else on the tacos overpowered the delicate fish, which couldn't be tasted. They had a special of 2lbs of Dungenous Crab for $32. So my wife talked me into ordering it to go....mistake. The crab was old and didn't taste good which surprised me being so close to the coast. Anyway, expensive lesson learned.

Our experience was wonderful. The food was well prepared and flavorful. The dishes were delightfully presented as well as delectably seasoned. The portion sizes were perfect. My wife had the prawns with bolognese sauce and I had the grilled halibut chef's special. Both dishes had a bit of a kick to them, but not overly so. The views of the Columbia were spectacular as we watched fishermen drift downstream and tug boats pushing barges upstream. The price tag is a bit hefty, so be prepared to shell out more than a few clams for your cuisine. The dress code is business casual and above. You don't need to get too dolled up, but don't come in shorts and flip flops either. Parking can be a bit of a challenge if you come during rush times, but there is "free" valet parking.

Well yes, it is expensive, but we had really good fish and it was prepared perfectly! The halibut was moist and flavorful, and the smoked steelhead was so tasty, but not at all dry. Service was good. Drinks were good. It was a bit loud in there (a few groups of businessmen) but the view was great! Overall, a great evening!

Had 12 for dinner recently. Service was great and everyone enjoyed their dinners. The view from the upstairs dining room is great. The planked salmon was amazing. Great staff, generous cocktails and a fun environment would return anytime!

If you're looking for great seafood, and don't mind paying a bit more this is a great seafood restaurant. We have been going here for years when we are in Portland, it sits on the banks of the Columbia River, has great friendly attentive service, & Valet parking. Wide menu selection, and haven't ever had a disappointing meal since we began eating there in the 1980's. This goes for all the Salty's we have been too.

We went to Salty's for its location on the side of the river with the airport. We were there on a Thursday night and it was not crowded. The prices are quite high for lobster and steak. The five of us shared two orders a variety of oysters as an appetizer. The salads were great and fresh bread was good. There is a special fried chicken dinner with risotto. We had the salmon, clams and mussels. The baked Alaska was a fun presentation but was super frozen and we also shared a key lime pie. The waiter was delightful and helpful.

We weren't disappointed with our experience but it didn't live up to past times we have dined at Salty's. In spite of what they advertise, all tables do NOT have a view of the river and the Christmas boats passing by. And no reservations are taken for the tables that do. The table next to us was ear-splitting loud. We waited so long after we finished our meal, that we completely skipped dessert just so we could get out of there. Food was average but not outstanding for the prices charged.

We had a lovely dinner seated at a window overlooking the river. This is a lively and popular place so be sure to have a reservation. My shrimp cocktail was terrific, and a large portion. Everyone enjoyed their selections, and the service was very good. They have a very good wine list as well.

My friends and I were in town on business and decided to try this restaurant for dinner. We made reservations and when we arrived, we were quickly seated. Our server, Dena, quickly greeted us and took our drink orders. When she delivered them, she told us about the specials for the night and took our orders. I choose the “world famous” chowder and the “Best Friends” for the entree. The chowder was somewhat disappointing. Very thick and not a lot of seafood in it. Mostly potatoes. The friends entree consisted of scallops and pork belly served in a skewer fashion. The scallops were cooked just right, and the port belly was both crispy and soft at the same time. Very good mix of textures. The rest of my group all enjoyed their dinners as much as I did mine. The only downside was the prices were a little on the high side.

My children love this restaurant. They live in California and enjoy eating at Salty's when they come to visit me in Vancouver. Near PDX, so we have happy hour or dinner before returning to the airport.

Loved Salty's! After a long day of meetings and an upcoming late night red-eye flight back East ahead of us, my friend and I asked locals where to get really good seafood near the airport. The answer was quickly provided from two different sources - Salty's. Great advice. The view at Salty's was very nice of the Columbia River and the nautical theme is pervasive in the restaurant. It's not stuffy at all. A fun, lively vibe. But the real treat was the food. Oysters were fresh as an appetizer and my salmon dish was superb, including a nice sauce with corn and onions, accompanied by fingerling potatoes. Great by-the-glass wine selection, attentive wait staff service, good food - a perfect prelude to a late night red-eye flight. Now if I could only learn how to sleep on a plane.

For a place known for being a classic, I wanted to know why baseball caps are allowed to be worn indoors. Where are the bleachers, and can I get a hot dog? Food good, service good, manners of guests distract. Flip-flops okay? Cargo shorts? WB t-shirts?

We ended our Sierra and Cascade National Park trip in Portland with one night stay before flying back. We stayed near the airport, so we decided to eat at one of the highest-ranking restaurants nearby which was Salty's on the river. This was a great way to end a great trip with a seafood dinner on the Columbia River. We started with drinks, and I thought I had to have the Portlander which was good. We then enjoyed entrees. Four of the 6 in our group got the King Salmon which they all said was the best Salmon they had ever had. I got the Garlic Chili Prawns and Scallops which were good. The service and the setting on the river were great as well. Finally, everyone enjoyed the decor and some fun with the picture props. If you are in Portland, I highly recommend a meal here.

I have been here a couple of times. The view is definitely much better in the daylight hours. The location is interesting and relatively easy to get to. They have outdoor seating options depending on the weather. If it is cold they provide a heater for the table. The service was good. The food quality, preparation, and presentation was very good. The menu isn't over complicated. Overall this was a good place for a business dinner.

Always a great spot. The fish and chips is always amazing. Service is great. Really glad they got new furniture. It’s a huge difference.

First time at Salty’s. Waterfront dining, but , other than calamari, food was disappointing. Fish & chips: fish was out of a box. FF’s were just ok. My wife’s steak & lobster: lobster was tough, steak just ok- for $75 she expected better. Definitely better choices in Portland.

Had a great time at this restaurant. The waiter was knowledgeable and informative. I had the fish which was delicious. Dessert was incredible. Had a juicy ipa and it was lovely. Happy hour costs less than dinner service. The staff were all friendly. Also they had a outdoor patio but we sat inside. Nothing but good things to say. Perfect.
Staff needs more training
We have always thought of Salty's as an amazing place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and Sunday brunch. Well, Tuesday was latest experience that left us very disappointed. Long wait just for the waiter to acknowledge us. Came back with our drinks...husband's was wrong and my martini was served in a small glass as the waiter said all the martini glasses were dirty! Food finally came out and was luke warm. Over all it was a terrible experience and we won't be coming back. So poorly run and inexperienced staff.
