Family birthday at SM. Great selection of ethnic foods, crazy decor and wait staff that is friendly, funny and clearly there to make your time there an experience. Very kiddo friendly. Very cool way to spend time with family and friends that isn't the " same ol same ol".

We had lunch and were thoroughly delighted with everything. The La Cubana sandwich was fantastic and bread was crunchy on the outside due to the sandwich press. The black beans were great as were the fried plantains. The Jerk Chicken and Mango sandwich was also incredible and was served with very tasty sweet potato waffle fries. We also had an order of hurricane fries - big serving of curly fries with TONS of garlic plus a great garlic dipping sauce. The place was casual and not fancy at all - just great food with great service. We'll go again and I'm getting the BBQ Pork Sliders!

Loved the ambiance and the atmosphere of the restaurant...looked very chic. Food was great, excellent portions and delicious. Service was also very good

Tried this place for the first time (I live in Portland) with friends. All I can say is that everything we ordered was excellent. Really good. I love the atmosphere, but I dig funky.

We had dinner for the first time at S-M and enjoyed both of our entrees very much! We tried ONE of the "great balls of fire" and only one tiny taste was enough for me to know that both the "ball" as well as the sauce with it were way beyond my tolerance level for hotness! Fun to try, however! I liked the fish tacos very much and husband had the Korean Bulgogi BBQ beef tacos which he also liked, but had to eat with a fork as they were so loaded with goodies! Very good meals! AND great service!

I arrived just before 6 pm on a nice Sunday afternoon. The outside tables were filled - indoors was pretty empty. By the time I left it was pretty full! Lots of variety in the clientele - old, young, and in between. I had the chicken tamale borrego style with the mild red sauce and cheese - it was great! My son had the Seoul chap chee and said it was great too. The strawberry lemonade was a perfect go-with. Service was pretty good - a little slow at the start to get a visit to order, but after that it was good.

We're addicted to the Artichoke Heart/Cotija Cheese Tamale, so we had to have it again, and also had the Jamaica Road Roti - both were excellent (as expected). Service was fast and friendly.

I sent the pulled pork sandwich back it was so dry, the fries were stale and flavorless, the second order of chicken (on the bone) was equally dry and tough, my friend's steak chimichurri steak was not authentic (no sauce or grilled tomato). Even the tea selection was minimal. The price range is within reason if the food was edible.

Our party of four were promptly seated on the outdoor deck. Picnic tables are painted yellow, bright blue, purple and pink. The feeling is beach town instead of SW Portland strip mall. Service was fast and friendly. Menu was varied with something for all. Fish tacos were amazing. Pulled pork sandwich was huge and delicious (according to my son who asked for the largest serving on the menu). Drinks were good, Hawaii style, who doesn't love an umbrella? We would go back.

Absolutely enjoy Jambalaya and seeing it on the menu made my heart skip a beat. My excitement declined a little when I tasted my order. It was good but I would've loved a more vibrant flavor.

My teenage son and I ate here over the weekend. It had been many years since I last ate here and don't know why I hadn't returned sooner. We ate around 6 PM and the guests spanned a wide range from families with small children to adult groups, seniors and even prom guests. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. My son ate the hot tamales which he said were some of the best he has ever eaten. I had the kalua mojo pork which was spectacular. He tried to consume the habanero balls of fire but only got through 4 of the 5 so didn't get his picture on the wall of flame. The menu had multiple items that looked great so will have to return again in the near future. As a caution, they don't take reservations so you might have to wait for a table. Outside seating is available which is nice for the summer though you just overlook the parking lot and nearby street so the view isn't great.

We got six different dishes and were delighted by each! So many flavors from around the world and creative combinations of ingredients.

Joined our daughter for an early dinner. Fries for a start followed by three delicious meals and good drinks. Combined with fun talk, a special afternoon.

We were taking a special trip to Portland for my daughters 6th birthday and she decided she wanted to go to a pirate themed restaurant. I googled pirate restaraunt and this place is what came up. When we arrived it wasn't a pirate themed, but a tiki theme, which just amazed my daughter as she'd never seen anything like it. They were packed, but we were seated with in 15 minutes and they were very friendly with the three young kids we had with us. The menu was varied with lots of unique delicious sounding things on it. I had the sweet potato Mac and cheese and can't stop thinking about how delicious it was since. And my daughter got a free dessert because it was her birthday, which she was also thrilled with.

They have the best Cesar Salad & when you add their Jerk chicken it gets even better. Not spicy & delicious!

This place was really cool and much more than I expected from a strip mall offering. The food had some Indian/Asian flare and the service was really good. It was very kid friendly as we had a group of 18 with 6 kids from ages 3 to 8. The best part was watching my cousin's Nepali wife and her brother attempt the habanero cheese fritter challenge. Nepali's can handle some heat (as can us Indians) but these things literally melted them in their seats- it was hilarious and provided us with some epic entertainment. I ate 1/8 of 1 fritter and felt the burn for at least 30 minutes. Great place to eat and drink for sure!!

We went here for the first time and was very pleased. The prices on all the food was very reasonable and the food was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We shared the Hurricane Garlic Fries as an appetizer an the portion was plenty for two. They did not skimp on the garlic and I added some salt which brought out the garlic flavor even better. For my meal I had the Pele's Volcano with a side of sweet potatoes. The sandwich was very flavorful and had a little kick to it. The potatoes were some of the best I have had and they added just the right spices. For dessert we shared the Chocolate Mousse Cake which was very rich but delicious. Ended up taking home leftovers we had so much food.....maybe next time we will try the Great Balls of Fire.

If you are feeling the need for a good drink and all the peanuts you can eat this is the place for you. They have a bar on the right with some booths and tables and a restaurant on the left. This is a casual place and it's decorations are a variety of pictures, china lamps, photos on the wall and a smaller place than many local restaurants in the area. Molly's has a variety of food choices, such as Jamaican chicken, pulled pork sandwiches, fish tacos, the best onion rings in the world, etc. You can go on line and see their menu before you go. The service is usually pretty good and fast paced and I have likely everything I have eaten there. Parking can be a hassle if you go during peak eating ours and you may have to park across the street.

Salvador Molly's offers a wide variety of world foods in a fun and inviting small restaurant. Lots of local beers in bottles and on top, as well as a nice selection of international brews. Casual and fun place. We've gone here with friends several times and have enjoyed every trip. Great service, plenty of activity, but not too noisy either. If you're part of their free Molly's MOB, you can get free appetizers each month, discounts off food and drinks, etc. The parking lot is quite small, so while we've never had to park elsewhere, we have taken the last spot on a couple occasions.

Celebrated a Birthday dinner here. Have been wanting to try this place for years! Atmosphere is fun and festive. Server was funny, personable and accommodating. The food, very, very good. Will go again? Absolutely!

Caribbean food is milder than mexican food with more flavors. Jerk Chicken is good and so are Cuban sandwiches. Of course, the complimentary peanuts in the shell are my kids favorites. If your really adventurous, try the Great Balls of Fire!

A great happy hour and pitchers of margaritas for 30$ and more exotic drinks including 151 based rum ones for 40$. Exotic voodoo curly fries for 5$, soup and salad for $4, and pork sliders for 7$. Groupon’s sometimes available. Drink specials on happy hour also. Gluten free and vegetarian options also. We enjoyed dinners of the pulled pork sliders with Curley fries and corn tamales with yellow rice and black beans along with an exotic pitcher of Amazonia drinks and some voodoo fries skipping the great balls of fire that we have enjoyed previously and that were more than my wife could handle and almost too much for me also and I like things hot! Great food at great prices particularly on happy hour!

For 15 years I have heard about the legendary Salvador Molly's. I finally decided to give it a try, and took a friend to Happy Hour. We each had a Cadillac Margarita and they were very good, but small. Our server, Mezey, was excellent! Great so far. But then our food came. My friend ordered the pepper calamari, which was not pleasing at all. There was something really wrong with either the breading or the oil it was fried in. A real disappointment for the price. But that could not compare to the absolutely worst onion rings I have ever had. Epic FAIL! Thin slices, so thinly coated that some of the onions were burned, and showing through the batter. So, basically a platter of black, greasy onions with uneven coating. I asked the server if this was normal, and he offered to have them re-fired. I thought for sure that I would get a freshly fried, normal platter, but I swear I got an equally bad one the second time. Afraid you've lost this first timer, Molly.

For whatever reason, we thought this had some sort of a pirate theme. In reality the atmosphere is a menagerie of around the world items. The space seemed a bit cramped, but don't let that scare you away. Service was impeccable, and there were menu items that were really unique. I had a jalapeno margarita (not what they called it, can not recall.) and the fish tacos. I could not have been more happy with either. Fresh ingredients it seemed and top notch preparations.

Stopped in for lunch here on lunch break with other students we're taking a class with. The waitress greeted us warmly & took great care of all 8 of us (2 other staff helped serve us). Entrees were tasty & still warm. Loved my mango smoothie too. But the music playing was too loud for easy conversation with the exception of the people right next to us.

We had some very simple but extremely tasty entrees a very reasonable prices. The ambiance is unique if somewhat eclectic. Driving by you would not take a second look but it would be a mistake it's definitely worth stopping in and eating there

Small cafe with crazy mix of global menu items and decor. Everything we had was very good, including Argentine, Caribbean, Asian, and different styles curries. Good brew selections. Prices are low. It's often very busy & tables tight, parking tough. Good find & are repeat customers

Salvador Molly's is great - fun foods, "Happy bites" for $2 at happy hour, good drinks, and fun times. If you join the "mob" you get a free appetizer monthly! Do yourself a favor and come on down here!

Salvador Molly's was recommended to us by a friend and we also saw it featured on the food channel so we thought it must be pretty tasty. Good, yes. Great, no. The service was poor and we were one of two couples in the entire restaurant. It took 15 minutes before we were approached by our waiter. The food itself is entirely different from what you get at most restaurants- which is what we were expecting. I will say the cheesy puffs are quite delicious and my meal of jerk chicken was good as well. However, I do not consider this place a "must visit" when visiting Portland.

We decided to visit here because and of the proximity of our hotel. The atmosphere and decor is bright, colorful, and beachy. We went all out and got an appetizer and cocktails to start. I had a margarita on the rocks and my husband had a painkiller. Both were great! We had the calamari to start. It was tender and had two dipping sauces. The aioli and mint raita sauces were amazing and unique. I had the Ta-Molly with Yucatan chicken, sides of turmeric rice, and spicy black beans. My husband had a Jerk Chicken and Mango sandwich with sweet potato waffle fries. The tamale was giant and the best I've had. The sandwich was also yummy. All of the toppings were fresh and vibrant. I definitely recommend. It had menu options for many global flavors. I liked how each dish in the menu showed the country of influence. Our service was exceptional as well!+

Enjoyed my first visit to Salvador Molly's. Menu variety really impressive. Had the tamales with chicken, very good. Would definitely eat there again. Good food and good value!

I went to Salvador Molly's today for lunch and as usual I was not disappointed. I've been there many times before and as always the food and service were great. I had the Louisiana King Jambalaya and a Red Stripe Beer. The Jambalaya was full of large shrimp, sausage and chicken with tasty sauce, veggies, Creole rice and grilled cornbread. Perfect meal on a nice sunny day. Highly recommend!

We all know that condiments give that special flavor, but excess of it, kills all the taste and you don’t really appreciate the food. All was over fried, even calamari, were plane. No taste. The beer, bad choice. Nothing catch my attention to return again, neither the fire balls, it’s just a justification to show. Sorry, but not my type of seasoning food.

This is one of the best restaurants in the Rose City, full of color and quality-great unique food, beer choices and atmosphere! Free peanuts don't hurt. The Caribbean-pirate-port theme is romantic yet Portlandesque. A great choice for a fun night, prime time or happy hour. Special thanks to Ian, Rachel and Konner for such kind service on a late summer dinner.

Wanted to try something different and decided on Salvador Molly's because of the cool variety they offered. We both had an appetite and both ordered the Cubano Sandwich. The sandwich came with beans and chips. The beans were good! The first bite of the sandwich I took tasted like I just put a spoonful of salt in my mouth. Absolutely awful! My husband had the same experience. I only managed to eat half the sandwich because of the amount of salt. Not sure if this was an isolated incident but don't think I'll return to find out.

We dropped in on a spur-of-the-moment search for dinner, trusting the prior reviews. Wow! Amazing menu, great service and the best dining experience in many years of visiting Portland. Very nice sangria accompanied Cocos Bay calamari, Baja Saba Fish tacos, and Patong Beach fish cakes - a gastronomic festival of flavors. We're looking forward to our next visit.

We arrived in Portland mid afternoon and stumbled upon Salvador Molly's when looking for someplace to eat and meet up with another person. It was quiet at that time service was great and food very good. Spicy, but good. The establishment has a global funky tropical theme which leads you to realize that you are going to be choosing dishes from around the world..,many that you probably won't find again. So enjoy! Be adventurous and live a little! If you dare, take the Great Balls of Fire Challenge.

We had the jerk half chicken and a chicken tamale. Tons of food and just excellent with unique spices. Don't miss the grilled sweet potatoes and the yummy black beans. The food arrived hot, fresh, and delicious. We are going to head over there next week to try their happy hour. Recommended.

I keep telling people about this spot and they all agree that is worth the drive to find it (Canadians). We still feel it is a real find. Inexpensive eats, lots of world flavours, and we like trying new dishes each time.

What an eclectic place. The menu is from some pretty exotic places and so are the flavors (and the decor). I had an Thai dish (mint coconut curried shrimp) and the dish was packed with shrimp. Next time I will have it hot instead of medium. My husband's chimichurri steak (Argentina) was a bit past medium rare but the sauce was super good. And, top that off with fun staff and it was a fun week day outing. This will not be the place for everyone but if you are even a bit adventurous, visit and enjoy.

Went there for the Balls of Fire. Every bit as hot as advertised. Didn't have much else as my tongue was overwhelmed. Staff was courteous and helpful.

The menu had so many delicious options it was hard to choose. I had the Cuban sandwich. Tasty! My friend and I shared one great ball of fire and couldn't finish it! It was nice to be able to order just one. They looked like they had good drinks. Glad we went

I went there with family. The parking lot is very tight, as the place is busy. The decor is wordly.. A kind of hodge podge of various travel journals, some carribbean nothing paricularly nautical. We had heard it was pirate themed, so was a little disappointed by the lame decor.... The place needs a good pirate crew....instead of shirts advertising hot balls. The hot balls are their claim to fame, eat five and the sauce and you get enshrined on their wall of flame. Quite a feat... It has been on quite a few food shows. The peanuts at the table were cool....for munching. The fiid was well presented, the portions were reasonably sized. I had burrito el blanco, we had the sunshine salad, and a couple other dishes. The food was well presented but a little lackluster in taste. Overall the experience was average, and didnt live up to the foodshow hype... Not a bad place, but nothing spectacular. It kind of had the feeling of a restaurant past its prime, great in the hays days, but on its way out...like the original owner died.. A splash of staff decked out in pirate garb would do wonders.

Loved that the server really knew the menu and could offer suggestions for gluten-free food options. Also loved that they were willing to tweak meals to our liking. Everything was tasty and fresh. Something for everyone is easy here with their very varied menu. Partial to the tamale.

Great Balls of Fire. We failed to swallow 3 of em'. Can't beat Adam Richmond (Man Vs. FOOD). What a shame! Love the Jambalaya and Taco dishes. Amazon Local coupon saved us $12. Great menu - Good mix of Hispanic, African, Asian, American Fusion food. Not shabby at all. You should try it. Services are great - very Portlandia! Decor - Weird like Portland. Great experience overall.

One of the most famous restaurants in Portland, this is the home of the Great Balls of Fire challenge! While I've never done this myself, the restaurant offers a great variety of food from different cultures and the service is spot on! But I was honestly annoyed by my most recent visit there. When I ordered the Chimichanga steak, not only was it overcooked but there was more salad on the plate than steak. It wasn't a bad meal per say, but if I wanted a salad, I would've ordered a salad! The other time I've eaten there, I was very satisfied and had a great time!

Stopped in for lunch. Jambalaya tasted good. Food was out on the table very quickly. Service was awesome. Noticed server washed his hands when handling our food. He was very accommodating. Catfish poboy tasted good, too. We had cheesecake and enjoyed it. Nice variety on menu. We had generous portions. Parking is tight. Prepare to walk. We enjoyed our lunch. Used a Groupon which gave us even more value for our money.

the meal is nice and atmosphere is awesome. I like the food. We tried Jamaican jerk chicken and namibian braii chicken. I really liked the namibian braii chicken. It was full of flavor and cooked right.

I first heard of this place on man v food with the great balls of fire, we sat in the bar and it was so cute inside. The server was really great too. I got one great ball of fire, it was so good! I loved the cheesy inside and the crunchy outside and the habanero sauce was delicious. It wasn’t that spicy I could have gotten 3. The pork tacos were another story… the pork was so dried out. They put tons of green peppers and onions on top and the tortillas weren’t warmed up. My friend loved her fish tacos! I would go back and get the fish tacos and more great balls of fire!

My son wanted to go here for his 15th birthday, to take the great balls of fire challenge that we saw on Man VS Food. He was able to finish all of the habanero poppers in just a few minutes, but immediately needed a glass of milk. He only threw up twice later that night, and had a gut ache for a few hours, but he felt like it was a successful birthday. He was very excited to get his picture up on the Wall of Flame! The rest of us enjoyed our lunch, especially the lamb sandwich.

We wanted to go here as my partner loves Spicy food and this is one of the only places Adam Richmond does a vegetarian food challenge. This is a little out of the main area but easy to access with a car. The place itself is quirky and funky looking, the staff are friendly and helpful, but best of all the menu had a lot of vegetarian options. We decided on two plates to share which were Indian and a ball of fire. The ball of fire was hot like promised my partner loved it he ordered another. The two plates we shared were nice enough and different. Really worth a visit.

My husband and I always look for local restaurants while we are on holiday. Frankly, I can go to the common Chain Restaurant’s anywhere, anytime. We look for local gems while exploring new towns and we found one in Salvador Molly’s in Portland, Oregon. We asked our Uber driver for recommendations near our hotel when we arrived in Portland. He recommended the McMenamins on SW Sunset Blvd in the Hillsdale area of Portland. We had eaten dinner at McMenamins and saw the Salvador Molly’s across the street and decided to walk over and have a drink before heading back to our hotel. Everything looked so good that we went back the next day for lunch! I’ve learned to trust my husband, he has a knack for finding hidden treasures. Now I would not call us foodies, we generally do not subscribe to trendy fine dining experiences and culinary snobbery. I'm not willing to pay twice as much for burgers and fries because of Locale or Atmosphere! We like good food that is as close to homemade as possible. We prefer farm-to-table type restaurants and we really like to support local, independent establishments that do not benefit from name brand recognition. Salvador Molly’s has a local feel. There are numerous local beers available on tap as well as your standard national brews. They also offer numerous cocktails and mixed drinks as well as wines. The food is an eclectic mix of Caribbean, Latin, Mexican and American foods. You could get a chicken sandwich and fries, but why would you when the Cuban sandwich is so delicious? This restaurant is located in a retail strip but is moderately spacious and can handle a busy dinner rush without long wait times for tables. Our Hostess and Servers were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. There is definitely a Caribbean feel to the building and décor that borders on being flamboyant or campy. This is a bar ultimately, but the food is head and shoulders above Pub Grub. Salvador Molly’s price point is pretty standard for the Portland area. Two adults each had an entrée and a beer for a total of about $35. Now for the food! Simply amazing! The food was obviously homemade. Many dishes include black or red beans, rice, plantains or their amazing garlic curly fries. They also have fried cheese curds with Habanero or Carolina Reaper peppers called the “Great Balls of Fire” that come with a warning as well as a challenge! My husband loves spicy food and peppers, and the Habanero were almost too hot for him! I had the Cuban sandwich with black beans and plantains, it was excellent and on par with Cuban restaurants I have been to in Florida and Atlanta. My husband had the Volcano sandwich (BBQ on French bread) and the garlic fries. The fries had huge chunks of fresh garlic and parsley, they are amazing if you are a fan of garlic! There was a marvelous array of spices, herbs and seasoning used in our foods. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially those who love a taste of the Caribbean in the Pacific Northwest!

We went to Salvador Molly's for a family lunch before our son returned to college. We've been before and it was his request that we return. After looking around at the funky decor and sampling the table peanuts, we noticed a Guiness World Record. Apparently, in 2010, the World Record for extinguishing torches by mouth was set at Salvador Molly's. We all laughed wondering who got the idea to set that record! The 2 boys wanted to order Balls of Fire. If you eat 5 balls of fire with sauce, you get your photo on the wall. The guys split 3 balls and wimped after eating 2. They are HOT! The waiter suggested eating the balls toward the end of the meal as they cause people to lose their palate as well as their appetite. He mentioned that he has 1 customer who comes in and eats 10 per visit and doesn't order anything else. I ordered the pork slider appetizer with garlic fries. The 3 sliders were the perfect size for me. My family helped mop up the delicious fries. The sliders had coleslaw and spicy pork. The meal was fun, the service was fantastic and the food was delish! Tip: Try the locally made Secret Aardvark Sauce.

Wow, this place has to be one of my favorite places in the states. My BF calls it a port restaurant because it's a mesh of food that you would find in the best port cities around the world. Fish tacos are definitely my favorite. And if your feeling up to the challenge order the Habanero Fritters! I hear the chef wears safety goggles to make them! Yum!

The mix of flavor so is welcome. Happy is good also. I am dairy free and never have trouble here. I love the pulled pork. Decent beer choices and the cocktails are good. The staff has always been friendly.

Did the hot balls challenge that was on Man vs food! It was soooo hot, but ended up finishing and got my picture on the wall! Check it out!

I love, love, love this place! Been here several times, and have always been amazed at the quality, variety, and flavors on their menu. As a person with special dietary restrictions, I love that they have vegetarian and gluten free options, which are clearly marked on the menu. Even some GF desserts! Fun cocktails (some come in pitchers!), small plate appetizers, and enormous entrees. Service can be slow, but only because they are always jam-packed (a sure indication of a great eatery). Go here. You won't be disappointed.

If you like flavorful foods, give this place a try. We were a group of 4, we ordered a variety of dishes and we all want to go back. The prices were reasonable ($10-$20 most items), portions were good, they have a reasonably priced beer selection but sadly, service was average, casual but fun place. The menu sports flavors from around the world. I can't wait to go back to re-taste the "Vadas - India" ("Tender, savory patties of black eyed peas, cheese, onion, & spinach. Lightly grilled, served with lemon, spicy sambal tomat & cool cucumber mint raita"). For $8.50 it served as a large meal with spicy & cool flavors. YUM!

Went in for dinner and got right in. It was pretty busy considering it was a Wednesday night. I had the cush cush. It was OK, kind of a vegetable stew on a plate. My wife got mojo pork which was pretty good. The service was just OK and I thought it was kind of high priced for what we got. They have a groupon from time to time if you want to save a few bucks.

Great place to fill up on happy hour specials, fresh tasty food, nothing to get wildly excited about, but we like to stop from time to time if we're in the area. Kids welcome.

Loved the Baja Saba Fish Tacos - they were so full of flavor, I never wanted it to end!!! The flavor combinations are pure magic! The lemon drop martini was perfect - nice taste and not overpowered by alcohol... excellent bartender - I had 2. Perfectly prepared flan dessert was a perfect ending to the evening. Service was attentive and excellent. The waitstaff is professional and very friendly. They also don't rush their clients through dinner - much appreciated by me. This place has the formula for success. The atmosphere was very eclectic and party-like. The decor is nothing short of eye-popping and head-turning. VERY artistic!

I was all sorts of excited to try this place. It was on my list of places to go. We showed up around 7:15pm and there was a wait, to be expected on a Sat night. We didn't wait too long for a five top. We got called but wait, the table isn't ready, sorry. Please go back outside and we'll call you again. 5-7 minutes later we are called again and we had to thread our way through an over crowed dining room to the enclosed "patio" seating. I felt we were shoved in a corner and forgotten about. The waitress was nice enough, I guess. She seems agitated and annoyed. Ordered the calamari and onion rings for the table. They came out quick enough then the waitress came back to take our dinner and drink order. We had already run out of water and had to ask for more. She came back with two pitchers to make sure we didn't run out. It just smacked of snarky waitress. The apps weren't even finished before the main courses came out. There was no room on the table and we had to maneuver plates and glasses around to make room. The food order was correct, thank god, but the drinks? A coke was forgotten altogether, the glass the ice tea came in was dirty and the food itself was subpar. I had the Richly spiced African sauce simmered with fresh vegetables and shrimp Served atop Ethiopian Injera bread with curry red lentil dahl, peanut-ginger roasted sweet potato and garlic spinach. It was warm only. The bread was soggy and the sweet potato was disgusting. I ate what I could of it, basically picked out the shrimp and spinach. As the meal progressed I grew more and more unhappy, this was not the experience I neither wanted, hoped for nor expected. We were there for a birthday dinner for my friend Chef, we were all terribly disappointed. So much so, I asked to speak to a floor manger. Snarky waitress came back and wanted to know what the problem was and for a moment, I was shocked that she was the floor manager. Thankfully for her and me, she was not. I would have gone rounds with her. Alex was a nice enough fellow who comp'ed us a dessert for our displeasure. Great, it was a flan that no one ate. Yippy. The best part of the night? When the bill came and we were told that they could only split it down three ways. At this point, the whole table had enough. I was seriously close to slapping down my credit card and telling them to charge me the whole $95.00 just to get the hell out of there. We ended up having to create our own ticket on a scratch piece of paper and assigned which credit card to which entry. You might be asking yourself if I even tipped the stupid cow. Yes, I did. I might be a b***h but I understand that is how waitstaff earns their living. I will -never- go back there again. EVER.

This is a very fun place with great food and beer at reasonable prices. But it is VERY popular, so it's a good idea to make reservations.

Menu with choices for everyone. Great for gluten free, vegan, or vegetarian, but with meat dishes, also. Great Happy Hour prices for appetizers.

Salvador Molly's is quite an interesting place with quite the menu. After seeing it on TV and missing it on the last trip to Portland, I was able to get it in this time. Mexican, Caribbean, Korean, African are just a few of the many cuisines here. I ordered Jamaican style chicken and I had to take some back to our room. The portions were huge. The jerk chicken and the potatoes were good, but the mango slaw and the salad were great. The decor is very funky and may not be for everyone. For something different, Molly's is a good option

We went early on a Saturday night and the place was pretty packed, BUT withing 30 min the place cleared out so it was probably a dinner rush. The atmosphere is really casual, peanuts in a bucket when you're seated kinda place. The food is great! We ordered onion rings as an appetizer, margarita, beer and each had a dinner entree. Total bill was $7.50 after our 30$ Groupon and then 20% tip. So great deal if you use Groupon. The food was excellent and we both took 1/3rd as leftovers.

Tried it out with a Groupon. Awesome homemade guacamole! Lots of Caribbean and Asian style foods to choose from. Pretty busy place. Food was good, wait staff was exceptional. Long drive from Vancouver, worth it for trying out a new place.

The food here is hard to categorize - kind of Caribbean with touch of Mexican maybe. The Yucatan Chicken is the best thing and you can get it in the Sunshine Bowl or the tamale. They have a club you can join which gets you a free appetizer every visit and many are large enough for a meal for a small eater. The tamales are very good - more meat than masa. Fun atmosphere, great service and a very friendly neighborhood place. I've been disappointed in the big pieces of meat but we got a tip on the Kalua Mojo Pork last time to ask for it to be cooked with the garlic sauce and served with the BBQ sauce - then it's great! The NAMIBIAN BRAII & SLAII appetizer is plenty for a meal and very good.

This place has some funky decorations, but my jerk chicken meal was great (and HUGE)! The menu has a wide variety of food types on it, so you have a lot of different styles to choose from. Not a huge menu, but the items we tried were all good. The happy hour deals aren't great - they're reduced price apps but you also get less food... so maybe good if you don't eat much and want to taste a bunch of things. Overall, I would recommend going for dinner if you want a lot of food! They also have a cute tiki bar area if you want to just hang out with drinks.

We checked this place out before a concert and it was great! I thought it was mostly Jamaican food but was surprised by the wide variety of dishes they had available - Ethiopian, Mexican, Hawaiian, Thai, Vietnamese and many more! I had the Baja Saba Fish Tacos and could easily have been the best fish tacos I've ever had... even compared to the ones I had in Mexico. My three other friends were equally as impressed with their meals. This is a fun place to go to.

We went here of course because of Man VS Food; the host seemed very angry and wasn't nice or happy. The Memphis blues smothered fries were fantastic, also Mario's wench drink is delicious! Great place, but the host needs to find a new job.

Saw it on Man vs. Food and had to try it!!! Bit off the beaten path-not a lot of parking, I almost thought I was in the wrong place. If you like different and spicy food this is the place. The Namibian Braii Chicken was delicious. The Kalua mojo pork had great flavor, but a tad on the dry side if that's even possible, we did the garlic mojo for the sauce. And the side of slaw was amazing!!! For 3 of us the bill was around $60 with a tip.

Yeah, I ate all 5 great balls of fire. Never, ever, ever again.

Always a great meal to be had. My kid loves this place, her favorite dish is the Viva Elvis- egg bread with peanut butter, bacon and banana- fit for a king. I have never had a dish I didn’t like. Excellent food and drink specials. Something new every time. A great mixture of all things hot, spicy, sweet and delicious. A wonderful meld of yum. Go there for a date, a lunch meeting or just go there and enjoy a new flavor.

We happened upon this unassuming neighborhood type restaurant...picnic benches inside and out and an eclectic interior that represents many parts of the world! A flavorful and bold food experience - great for kids as well. The value is really outstanding for the quality...I had the Tamarind shrimp curry...it was perfect, my 9 year old enjoyed her burrito - it would have feed 2 more foodies her size...my husband had the jambalaya which I also tried a bite or two...actually three...and it was also yummy... it was a busy evening...lots of people and the service was entertaining! Would go again when we visit Portland area for sure!

There were five of us who went for a late lunch. With the portion size there was no need to have dinner! Everyone had something different ... all of us thought it was the best! My husband and I visit my family once a year in Portland. Next year we will be visiting this amazing place more than once during our 10 day stay.

We’ve been here and back a number of times. Liked it so much we stocked up on Groupons when a great deal came up. Working through the menu one fascinating eclectic dish at a time. But go for a cup of the curry Dahl with sweet potato for a nice warm and tasty starter or take on the bowl for a meal.

The eclectic menu is cool. Kid-friendly, but there's a bar area for when you don't bring your kids. The food can be a bit uneven, but the service is great. They serve a lot of tropical drinks- but their sangria is weak and has no fruit in it. Go with a beer or one of their signature drinks.

I have to say, walking past the place as I walked through the neighborhood on my daily walks, then perusing the menu, I didn't think I'd like Salvadore Molly's. The place had been recently remodeled and wasn't completely finished yet so the interior was kind of crowded and jumbled. We got a table in the corner and looked over the menu. My girl ordered the dal and a chicken tamale, I ordered the Memphish fries and the Jambalaya, spicy as they'd make it. I ordered tea for my drink. My iced tea came. It looked great, but taking a deep drink I ended up with a mouthful of floral. It wasn't bad, just wish they'd mention their tea was herbal. The dal and the fries arrived. The fries were topped with cheese and pork and were quite tasty. The dal was tasty as well. Reading the menu I was under the impression the sweet potato in the dal was puréed, but ended up being in chunks. I think puréed would have worked better. Then came the entrees. The food looked wonderful. The tamale came with black beans and yellow rice. The filling in the tamale was nice, but the masa was too thick and bland. The rice could have been seasoned as well. The jambalaya was a beautiful bowl of Cajun goodness and came with a cornbread "biscuit"... their way of saying a piece of cornbread. The stew had a nice heat to it and a very rich full flavor. The cornbread was tasteless and dry as a tomb. Overall, we had a pleasant experience, though it was nothing great.

This restaurant not only has the most flavorful food I have had in a long time, it has a crazy fun atmosphere with colorful decor and friendly wait staff. Jamacian/African/Cuban/whateverelse fusion of spices and sauces. The pork was great, the curry, the calamari, everything great and ALL of the sauces on everything were soooooo yummy! Reasonable prices, too. Go- you wil be glad you did.

I found a Living Social voucher for this little joint and decided to give it a try. What a pleasant surprise! A bit off the beaten path, but definitely worth the journey. Good food and service. With dishes from around the world and plenty of gluten free options too. If you like exotic and spicy then you won't want to miss this place. Give it a try and just imagine you are dining on a whole nother continent!

We trekked out to Portland to try a Cubano. After doing some research we decided to visit this location. The place was easy to find (with GPS) and when we arrived it actually had a parking lot...yay! It was not busy, but was lively nonetheless. The gentleman inside welcomed us and showed us to our seats and handed us a happy hour menu and a full menu. He brought us a bowl of peanuts and a pitcher of ice water. It was so hard to decide which appetizers so we pretty much ordered all of them... LOL!! The tamarindo pork sliders and tamarindo pork covered potato wedges are to die for! I'd wrestle a hungry alligator for them... just saying.... the rasta rings were really good as well. Well we fell victim to temptation for challenge and being that we think we're big shot chile eaters from New Mexico that can handle all levels of chile pain, we ordered the Great balls of fire!... no biggie...... so we take our first bite... yeah, still no biggie...this is gonna be a cake walk... hee hee. suddenly....something starting to take place in the back of my mouth... something subtly painful and increasing every 5 seconds!!!!! O-M-G!!!!! My mouth is dialing 911 and I'm grabbing for the ever-so-conveniently placed huge pitcher of ice water...... our server comes around and asks if we are ready to order.... and we try to play it off, the big shot chile eaters that we are..... but we have no choice but to wimp out and speak... and every word we say starts with "fffsss"..... I can taste nothing but pain....but I find the strength to order a fffsss-Cubano with fff-sss garlic twirlies fffsss..... now the pain is subsiding.... verrrrryyyy sloooowwwwwllyyyy..... I didn't eat all of the Cubano because I was really full from my absolutely remarkable appetizers, and two pitchers of water.... but I did munch on some of it and enjoyed the rest the following day for lunch making my family very jealous as I ooohed and ahhhed with every bite... I'm mean... ... it's melt in your mouth tender pulled pork goodness with ham and pickled onions on a toasted hoagie (?) .... I would never be able to do the Great balls of fire challenge, no matter how big shot chile eater I USED to be before this visit... boohoo.... LOL... the challenge entails eating 5 balls including the sauce!!! But I will eat here again and I do highly recommend anyone to give this place a try... and go for it... have a ball! Food is excellent, service is by far the best we've experienced in a long time and the place is fun (oh by the way, the dark 'passenger' in me forced me to buy a bottle of sauce to take home... mwaaahaaaaahaaa!!)

We were very pleased with the atmosphere, service and especially the food. The dishes are all prepared very nicely and were absolutely delicious. You'll want to go early as it gets crowded. It's a very casual and laid back atmosphere. You get a lot of food for a great price. We will certainly be back again.

My wife and some friends stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday, just before noon as a treat for them helping us move. We sat and ordered some beer and lunch fare. In 10 minutes the restaurant was swamped! We must have just missed the rush. The food was excellent - we got a mix from sandwiches to tamales to quinoa plates. We saw a table order a "fishbowl" mixed drink. Wow! It was as big as my head, and for only $15 too. We'll have to try it next time we come back. The check was slow in coming due to the mad rush, but we weren't in a large hurry.

Servers and hostess were very friendly and were willing to make suggestions. The tables are slightly cramped and it can get busy during their great happy hour. There are brightly colored walls, souviners and photos/art from around the world to add to the diverse global (South American-ish) feel of the restaurant. The Habanero Cheese Fritters are interesting and tasty yet undeniably hot (especially the sauce) so have water/milk on hand. The Hawaiian style Mojo (Smoked, Pulled) Pork is to die for. The Jumbalaya and fish tacos are great dishes as well (I tasted my guests' for comparison). The portions are not the largest so I would suggest appetizers if you are hungry. Overall it is a very nice dining experience and well worth a visit. The food quality was excellent.

This is NOT a family friendly restaurant. I work near here and really enjoyed their diverse menu. I bragged about it to my wife and kids. I took them there on a weekend. First, the service was horrible. We ordered at the same time as a couple at the next table. They were served an appetizer, their meal, and multiple drinks before we even received our meals (about 45 minutes). I can get passed bad service for good food. What happened next is egregious. My 8 and 6 year old daughters started crying while finishing their meals. My wife and I asked what was wrong. They said their mouths were on fire. We called the waiter over. He chuckled like a caricature in the show "Portlandia" while explaining that they use the same fryer for their kids meals (dino chicken pieces and fries) that they use for the famous Great Balls of Fire made with habenero peppers. The waiter left after the visible anger in my body language. A "manager " came and delivered a weak apology to me and my wife (not the girls). BOTTOM LINE: Don't go here with kids. They are reckless. Thank God, Allah, Buddah, Yahweh, or whatever PC gnome or tree is currently popular in Portlandia that my kids didn't have an allergic reaction.

The food is delicious and you feel the comfort of the small room next to a bar as you walk in. I love the food, it's something that serves a little bit of every culture. The restaurant is known well for its "great balls of fire challenge" I took this challenge and the meat ball things are very good and VERY hot. I give this place five stars because it gives you "a little bit of everything"

Great place to gather with friends and family for a taste of their round the world menu! Delicious fish taco’s or shrimp curry or jerk chicken. For the adventurous who want to join the coveted Wall of Flame try eating five habanero peppers without exploding. Too hot for me, but the wall is covered with photos of smiling hotheads 😉 Love their mojito’s and margarita’s too!

Great spot with a mix of different countries tastes. I got the tsunami surfer chicken tacos and loved them. Seating is a bit tight but service was great. Lots to neat decor to take in. Great little place

Had an early dinner there last Saturday - glad we came early as the restaurant is very popular. We were seated immediately and munched on their signature peanuts! I shared the calamari which was tender and prepared in larger than normal rings - not like a wedding band! Very tasty and I liked the dipping sauces. I also had the Jambalaya - there were options on how hot you wanted it. I found it tasted nice, but would have liked a little more 'bite' - it seemed a little gloopy? Beer was good! I like this restaurant - it is eclectic and the service was good, unobtrusive and honest!

Ate here with two others. Interesting international menu and great beer selection. Patio available for days when weather makes you want to eat outside. Portions very large and very good. Easy to split them if you're not hungry as a horse. This was my second visit and I look forward to returning!

We had lunch at Salvador Molly's. When we first stepped in we were greeted very nicely. We ordered the fish tacos and the chicken hot tamales. Both were very scrumptious and flavorful. I devoured the fish tacos and I think they are the tops in all of Portland. We were pleased with the exotic and worldly scenery. The staff was nice and Salvador Molly was great.

Salvador Molly’s is just a good residential bar/restaurant. Very fun menu and good food. If your looking for good food, good price, good wait staff and relaxed atmosphere, stop by and enjoy. A new go to place for me.

The food was good, the drinks were great. But this place is about as big as a backseat and its really loud. Lots of families here, so if you hate kids, go later in the evening.

Visited Portland for a week, tried this place on Monday with family and returned Saturday with a crowd of friends. Lively atmosphere on the weekend but still attentive service. The menu is a delight to read, and so tantalizing.

I have been wanting to try out Salvador Molly's for a few years, and thanks to a Groupon we finally made it over there. We were greeted as soon as we arrived and seated right away. For a busy Saturday night, we choose to sit outside due to the very cramped although fun-spirited atmosphere inside. We ordered our drinks, Arnold Palmer and an Iced Tea – Beware the Iced Tea is Tropical flavor, different and not my cup of tea. So I ordered a Strawberry Lemonade, which needed about 4 lemon slices to make it not too sweet. The most fun was looking through the menu. So many unique taste bud exploding options, it was hard to choose. We started with Memphis Blues Smothered Fries which were topped with a huge mound pulled pork cheese and sour cream. Sinfully delicious. For our main dishes we ordered the ROTI Jamaica Road - it was delicious and very unique in flavor. It reminded us of a Indian Samosa more than Jamaican jerk flavors. Next we ordered the Louisiana King Jambalaya – I really was excited for an explosion in the mouth Louisiana flavor. Unfortunately we did not like it at all. It was more like a tomato stew with rice and shrimp. The corn bread that came on the side was extremely dry and had no flavor. We told our waitress about our disappointment, who happily replaced it with the Baja Saba Fish Tacos. The Fish Tacos came out right away. The fish was fresh and flakey. Great fish tacos, not the explosion of flavor with the toppings that I was hoping for, but very good. I am anticipating our next return, there were SOO MANY dishes we wanted to try. My husband said next time he is going to stand by the expediting window and watch all the different dishes come out before we order. But that might make our decision even harder. We were given a $10 coupon as we checked out, cant wait to come back!

We bring friends from out of town here when they visit as they have a fantastic eclectic menu that always amazes. Their tamales are wonderful. Serving size is always sufficient. Service is good for the Portland Metro area. I believe their reputation has slightly outgrown their facilities as it feels crmped. But, yes, this is where the locals eat!

We'd heard about this restaurant on the food channel or one of the similar TV programs, but we were sort of disappointed. The onion rings were KILLER though! The dish I had was just so-so and not served hot. The chicken breast was VERY dry.

The hummus plate was good. My friends had the jambalaya and the catfish po’boy and said they were both good. Prices are reasonable and service was good.

The restaurant had a great variety of meals with a variety of ingredients and spices. It would be difficult to not find something you liked on the menu as it varies between Mexican,,Hawaii, and Caribbean food. Service was good and the waiter was helpful in explaining the spiceiness of the food to aid the patron made a selection.

This restaurant was on our "must visit" list when we learned of it on the Travel Channel. The service was about what you would expect from a busy restaurant, with the exception that the servers were very nice. The food was so good and the portions so large that I had hard time eating it all. The Pampas Chimichuri Steak is now a favorite of mine as are the Memphis Blues Smothered Fries. And, if you are into insane eating challenges, try the Great Ballas of Fire challenge. I have done it 3 times now, and the fritters are really good, but be careful, the heat sneaks up on you after the third one. For the kids, they have a couple of good selections, but if your kids are like mine and love Ranch for their fries or chicken, they do not have Ranch. We cannot wait to go back!

Have the tamale!!! I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors and texture of the chicken tamale. Everything was flavorful and fresh. Would highly recommend!!!

My family stopped here on our way across town. The food was delicious. The spicy margarita was amazing, perfect amount of sweet and spicy. Love sitting on the deck.

The food is always tasty here with a menu full of interesting Caribbean style choices. Eat peanuts in the shell while you wait or eat one of their delicious appetizers. This is a great family restaurant or for a group of friends. There is something for everyone whether you like your food flaming hot, mildly spicy or not or anything in between! There is a good choice of cocktails, domestic beer or daily choices of draught beer. There are the usual choices of non-alcoholic beverages. Service here is friendly and efficient. My favorite - Molly's Hot Tamale!

The selections are interesting and the staff attentive. Quite an upgrade from the McMinamins next door in Hillsdale. Convenient from almost anywhere in SW Portland. Highly recommend for a happy hour but suspect lunch and dinner are good. Casual dining.

Great Balls of Fire. It is a must. I am in my mid 50's and took the challenge and now have my photo up on the wall. It hurt so good.

It had been 5 years since we have been to Salvador Molly's. We decided to visit on our anniversary. We spent a lot if time there in our courting years. The food is eclectic, fun and delicious. The fact that our favorite bartender, Mladen, still works there, only sweetens the deal . Lovely people, delicious food, fun atmosphere. What more do you want?

This is a fun little place. Kind of outside of Portland. Not downtown. But good food and the man vs food show came here and did the flaming habanero challenge. Which I have beat myself! Anyways come in and try it out. Fun spot!

We enjoyed having lunch here. The venue is a kind of global tropical theme with many spicy dishes from around the world. The setting was also a good family one as there were many families with children there. The menu was quite varied with the common theme of being spicy...not necessarily hot spicy but flavorful spicy. The service was good and very friendly and our server answered our questions and made good suggestions. The food was well prepared and presented and quite tasty. It was a bit noisy which made conversation a little difficult. We enjoyed the food and would go back.

This was a cool place and we loved the outdoor seating. However, the mojito+margartia drink was frozen but the menu didn't idicate this. Also the food that had sounded so good on the menu was really not very exciting in person.

Beachy theme. They have taken various beach countries around the world and have come up with a fusion of food. Unique and flavorful.

I have been coming here for lunch at least twenty-five years since I worked nearby but I didn't live nearby so have never been here for dinner. I almost always have the Jambalaya or sometimes the Kalua Pork. Cant go wrong either way. They also sell virtually every type of hot sauce there is in bottles from all over the world. I like it spicy so I always pick up a bottle or two. I highly recommend for great food, fun very casual atmosphere and snag a bottle of hot sauce while you're there.

Eclectic! Decor, food, story... all enticing and delectable. Funky long hole in the wall next to Hillsdale Mcmenamins. Pulled pork from Salvador over garlic mashers.... wow! Dessert at McM’s. Perfect.

Very interesting restaurant, very good food. It's a cozy (small) bar/cafe serving food from around the world, I would not say just Caribbean food because they do have Hawaiian, as well as some Asian inspired meals. My wife had the Molly's Hot Tamales, (she is from New Mexico, no gringo food), one of our friends had the Cush Cush, which she said was excellent. Her husband and I each had the Pampas Chimichurri Steak. We also had the Afro-Caribbean Bollitos and the Namibian Braii Chicken both excellent appetizers. Not a bad meal in the bunch. Definitely worth going back to try other foods on the menu.

We have been going to Salvador Molly's for years. The food and service are always more than satisfactory. They have a variety of dishes from around the world. My favorite is the Surf Rider Tacos with kalua pork, washed down with a Pain Killer cocktail. However, I have never had a bad meal. If you are visiting from out of town or want to take out of town visitors to a unique, out-of-the-way Portland restaurant, I would recommend Salvador Molly's. And unlike many of the unique restaurants in NW or NE Portland, the wait at Salvador Molly's is seldom more than 10-15 minutes!

Salvador Molly's has a fun "beach shack" vibe and serves up tasty island fare, riffing off Caribbean, Asian, African, Mexican and other themes. They offer a solid libations menu and I was happy to find my favorite - Sangria - in both red and white wine variations. Baskets of shelled peanuts and cute little metal sand pails for the shells are brought to the table while you wait for service and food, although we found ours to be semi-stale. Also, service seemed a bit slow and we had to wait overly long for our drinks. The menu seems to offer something for every taste, with lots of nice grain and salad options. I ordered the fish cakes which were piping hot and crispy with a flavorful sauce. DH had the Jamaican jerk chicken which he also enjoyed. We seem to remember more seafood options from a long-ago visit, and were a bit disappointed that there wasn't more offerings this time around. All in all, the food is delicious and reasonably priced. We will be back!

The banana ketchup was a new experience and really quite good. French fries were great . Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff went out of their way to be friendly and fast.

Went there yesterday. Very nice atmosphere. Tasty food. Good prices. Decent service. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I was looking for someplace different than the same old chain restaurants/cafes for a dinner before heading off to 60 Minutes to Escape. This little restaurant is friendly with décor from all over the world. The food was excellent and seasoned perfectly. Even the non-alcoholic drinks are frosty and original! You should stop in - you won't be disappointed!

Quite an odd mix of food and drink but very good. Lots of spicy dishes which I really enjoy and good microbrew beers.

Always a great atmosphere, a varied menu of appetizers, drinks, and entrees. Service is always friendly.

The garlic lime chicken soup is so good, many times that is all that I will have. The salads are big and interesting, the grilled cuban sandwiches are great. A very interesting, international menu of Pirate food.

We detoured from our route to do the Great Balls of Fire challenge at Salvador Molly's restaurant. I succeeded at the challenge and the staff put my photo on the wall with Adam Richman's picture However although I love hot food, I thought I was going to die, I had to pull over on the way to Brookings for two pints of chocolate milk, which I would recommend to anyone taking this challenge. Hey that's how these challenges roll, no pain no gain. The staff were really nice but perhaps thought the English Guy would buy the farm. Fun friendly restaurant...... Loved it and well worth the visit.

Ate lunch here with friends. Everybody liked what they had. Two of us had curry lentil soup, which was great. Have eaten here many times and it's consistently very good.

Lively place with both a bar side & a restaurant side. Full restaurant menu in the bar also. Great service, even on a busy Saturday night. Food had lots of flavor! Watch out for the "Balls of Fire" appetizer - they are hot! The key is to eat them quickly before the heat catches up to you, according to my companion who tried them.

I have never had anything that was not done well here, but I have been a Great Balls of Fire victim & I love hot food! This locally owned restaurant is the perfect place to relax & eat great food in a fun atmosphere with outdoor areas, too. They have a full bar & island-style "Pirate Cooking". Beware, though, to those of you cocky enough to think you can have your picture on the Wall of Flame! You will feel every inch of your digestive tract for the next 48 hours after even 1 of the Great Balls of Fire Habanero puff balls. I have nothing but awe for those who made it to the wall!

Ok, first off the wings are expensive....we ordered the full order and received 6? 6 for $12? They came all soggy and looked and tasted boiled. The flavor was good but the texture wasn't. Even Asian wings are crisp. We didn't even have the option of complaining because the server never came back?

Why have I not been here before??!! This cute little restaurant has a large menu with a large variety of flavorful foods!! They use unusual spice and herb combinations with healthy ingredients! What a find!! The dessert menu was awesome too! This my be my new favorite!

I’ve been eating at Salvador Molly’s since the first month they opened. They once had two locations. I’ve never had bad meal here. This week we met friends for dinner. My wife’s ribs were had the best sweet and hot sauce on them. I ordered something I’ve never had, fish cakes, and they were perfect. Light and flaky in an interesting and different sauce. Very good. The drinks are always good the atmosphere lively. I’ll be eating here for years to come.

Casual friendly atmosphere with great food in Hillsdale. Great service! There were 5 of us and everyone was pleased with their order.

We stopped in for lunch because my husband wanted to test out the "Great Balls of Fire". I had been here before & he had not. He ordered 3 & actually ate 2 of these little dynamos and loved the flavor. I took a teeny bite, they are definitely hot-very hot! and they have a delicious flavor-but too hot to have more than a nibble. Husband got the Elvis sandwich (PB, Bacon, Banana), which was good, messy, but good flavor-what you would expect with that combo-sweet, salty, creamy. He was glad he tried it, but will probably try something more unique to the restaurant next time. I got the jerk chicken mango sandwich & loved it! It's a combo of mild heat, sweet & tangy. It's accompanied by roasted sweet potatoes which pairs well. We will be back when we are in the area.

Meet friends and family before going to another activity. Mostly we had appetizers and drinks. The waitstaff was very nice. Food was good. The place is a little different and can get a little crowded but I think that is the intention. I would return again.

So, i'm a fan of Man vs. Food, and I had to visit here when i went to Portland. In the show i remember it was a fun filled lively place, good lighting, good atmosphere. It made me want to visit. I was disappointed when i arrived. It wasn't a bright fun filled place like on the show. I was there for dinner, and in December even, so granted it was dark outside and would be darker inside than on the show. But it was almost dismal inside. There were only a few diners there, so the liveliness was missing also. We sat in a booth near the door, and the seating wasn't comfortable. After 15 minutes or so i had to shift in my seat, wait a bit and shift again. it kind of made the whole experience worse. To top it off, we had a slow inattentive server. She had a great attitude and was really nice, so props for that, it just took a long time to get drinks and food. The soup my co-worker ordered was cold when it arrived, the glasses were empty for a while before they were noticed and refilled. So now the food. I had the Chicken Satay. the only way to describe it is amazing. Hadn't tried that before, and i loved it. Considering the let down from what I saw on TV (and yes i know it was on TV and they had lighting and brought in extras and whatnot) the slow server, and the uncomfortable seating, the food made up for it. I will gladly return here the next time i visit Portland to have a meal, and maybe then i'll try the Great Balls of Fire.

We have been to Salvador Molly's on more than one occassion, but the service has continued to get worse and we will not return. While the food and drinks are pretty good- about middle of the road price-wise, the service isn't worth it. I recommend saving your money for a different Portland restaurant.

Our Server was a great guy. We had him choose our meal, He asked if we wanted food to take home, we said yes. The service was quick, our appetizer was the calamari, it was good; tender and crunchy, the two sauces were great. Our main course meals were Jerk Chicken with mashed potatoes, & cold slaw and the Kahlua Pork with, mashed sweet potatoes & cold slaw. Everything was delicious, moist, flavorful and tender. As promised we had left overs they were great with salad for dinner the next night.

My family recently went to this restaurant for Happy Hour. Once I looked st their lunch menu I had to jump into their Fish Taco! Before the fish tacos I ordered the Shanghai Cowboy Roll and shared a couple of other delicious treats off of the happy hour menu. We all enjoyed the wonderful different flavors of everything we tasted. The service was really great.

Eclectic bar decoration, sort of surfy. Good place to meet friends for happy hour. Mention the Mob for an appetizer or a discount. Around the world menu, mostly Carribean”ish”. Daily selection of beers. Spicy Mac and Cheese. Hubby had pork sliders. Both were good. Friendly, attentive service. We would eat there again.

We have never had a bad time here. They give out free peanuts to snack on and the menu is varied and fun. The food can be spicy but it is always very tasty. The pirate theme and Caribbean food make for a great combination. We especially like the onion rings and fine beer selection.

Armed with a Living Social deal for $30, four of us had a nice luncheon. We found the place in a strip mall with easy parking on a rainy day and found a table inside. Both the atmosphere and food selections were exotic and offered a variety from different countries. It was not very busy on a Friday and the server was friendly and attentive while offering us menu suggestions. My son was somewhat cautious since he noticed the their review on another site was lukewarm. We were able each find a dish to our liking wand with our individual diet preferences including GF and Vegan. With the Living Social, our total including tax and tip was less than $20!

And I almost never get heartburn! We went there a few times several years ago and thought it was great. Finally made it back last night and it was horrible!! I could hardly find anything on the menu that appealed, but the "cush cush" looked okay, so I ordered it. Mistake! A pile of sloppy vegetables (mostly okra) topped with tasteless cornbread. The vegetables were in a very hot spicy sauce that had heat but no flavor really. My husband had chicken something, which was okay he said, but just kind of a mess and hard to eat. We won't be going here again! If you're planning to go, I suggest you look at the menu ahead of time if it is on line, and see if there is anything you like. I don't eat meat, so it is always a little harder for me to find stuff I like at most restaurants. Also, I tend to judge Portland restaurants on whether or not they filter the water, as Portland's water tastes TERRIBLE chemical/bleach! This one doesn't filter - just disguises it with lemons.

This was my first time here, and I'd heard about it from friends. Very diverse menu. I had the Jamaica Road. Every bite tasted different from another, due to the ingredient mix. Very good meal. My daughter had the Cush Cush and was less satisfied. The veggies were mainly onions and peppers, which are not her favorites. The veggies with my dish included hardly any onions or peppers. The place was packed with a short wait, but still attentive service. They do have you go get your own water from some dispensers on a table, which I thought was odd. The adult beverage menu had some great choices.

Knowledge of the menu and friendliness of the staff was very good. The food was even better. Music selection was out of this world! Very inviting atmosphere.

We were seated right away, waitstaff very attentive. Food served very quickly. My husband ordered the "great balls of fire" and was only able to eat two of them. All in all a fun time

Since moving away from SW Portland, it has been years since we visited some of the places we used to frequent on a regular basis. It was good news to find Salvador Molly's is as good as we remember. It was a late lunch for us, so the bucket of peanuts was a welcome treat. The Caesar salad with a Caribbean flair was great. My husband's Cubano sandwich (I snuck a bite) was also very good. The restaurant is quiet after the lunch hour, so we were able to catch our breath and relax a bit after our busy morning.

Interesting menu. Love their chicken tortilla soup. Cannot go to Salvador Molly's without ordering the soup. The cuban sandwiches are very good also.

Believe the hype. Selection was eclectic and tasty. Surprised by the authentic ethnic flavors in the dishes. Great place to eat if you are a vegetarian or a hard-core carnivore. Very unpretentious in a seemingly pretentious city. Servers were extremely knowledgeable and accommodating to all patrons. They have created an identity way beyond the strip mall where they reside.

Small place, so the wait can be long. But, its worth it! Food is great and make sure to burn your insides to a crisp with the Great Balls of Fire. You will be scared to use the restroom! hahahaha It is really good though.

Talk about a wide variety of offerings! As they advertise, they have food from every continent and some very adventurous places. I had the fish taco b/c it was recommended by the waiter and I would get this every time! It was crispy and crunchy on the outside but soft and tender on the inside. My son liked his jerk chicken and my husband's tamale was very good. There was a North african dish my daughter had that was not as successful for her but it was still good. I would definitely recommend any adventurous eater try this place!

This place is fun. It's loosely pirate themed. It has food from all over the world and it's good food. We went with a big picky party and everyone was happy when we left. They have southern bbq and food from africa, china, india, etc.... We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely go back.

Service was fantastic! So friendly and accommodating and the right amount of paying attention and checking in. Loved the spicing of the wings a lot, cooked perfectly - but the half-portion was a bit skimpy, in my opinion (3 really small wings - either add one more wing or use bigger wings.) The celery was limp and there were just a few small pieces; celery is not that expensive, and it seemed odd that the bowl of dip was big by comparison. The little bed of cabbage the wings came on was pretty wimpy. (Yes, it was happy hour, but if there had been just a little more volume of wings and celery it would have been great.)

This is an interesting restaurant with eclectic decor that offers a variety of "international" dishes that are neither authentic nor innovative. If you like Caribbean food, then this place may be OK for you. On the plus side, the portions are huge and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. 5 stars for the service, but only 3 for the food. We had a Groupon so the total bill was not too bad, but we probably won't return because there are so many new and better restaurants to explore in Portland, especially in the SE part of town.

They have a long menu with items from different parts of hte world. Also, they keep changing their menus. No wonder they were featured on teh Food Network program

I used a Groupon and had a great meal. Festive inside and I sat at the bar so service was good. Not the strongest drinks but prices werent bad. Went for the happy hour (cant use Groupon for) and pork sliders were great alongside $2 pbrs. Didnt try the balls of fire but I did share eat cheesy puffs with my sliders and was a good meal.

Went to Salvador Molly's with a group of friends on a birthday get-away weekend. One of our group had seen the Man vs. Food episode that featured Salvador Molly's and we wanted to try to "Great Balls of Fire" habenero fritters. While they were just plain not good, everything else was wonderful. Great atmosphere, service, drinks and above all, FOOD! The unique take on "menus without borders" makes for a very fun dining experience. We tried the black eyed pea cakes (they were called something much more interesting but I can't remember what it was), the Rasta Onion Rings and the Memphis Blues Fries. We were so full from our appetizers that we didn't have room for full meals and that was disappointing because there was a lot we wanted to try. We'll definately go back, and you should too!!

We have been here several times and although we are tempted to get our same favorites over and over, we love to try different dishes. Everything sounds outrageously delicious and everything we have tried is as good as it sounds on the menu!! Even our pickiest child can find something delicious. Everything is very reasonably priced and the service is great! I can't wait to try Happy Hour! We all tried the Great Balls of Fire, (except for our daughter who can burn her tongue just looking at spicy food) they are yummy but I can only handle a tiny bite, so my husband and boys finished them off. We always look forward to our next visit! Fantastic!!

I wanted to go here because I saw it on Man V. Food. While neither I nor anyone in my dining party cared to do the Great Balls of Fire challenge, we did have some really good food. I enjoyed the Pele's Volcano sandwich (BBQ pork & cheese over French garlic bread), and a really fresh banana smoothie. We shared some cheesy poofs and those were really good too. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. I enjoyed the quirky decor and our friend who lives in the area said he would definitely go back.

I live in South Jersey, home of the diner, but I have a daughter who lives in the Portland area and this is one of our mainstays when my wife and I get out there. I'm a big fan of their sandwiches, the Jerk Chicken & Mango, Catfish Po' Boy and Tandoori lamb come immediately to mind. Somebody already commented on the Sweet Potato Mac and Cheese, and I'm a fan of the Jambalaya and Drum Chicken. It took my wife, a less adventurous eater, a few visits before she became a fan, but now she's on board too. This is an easygoing place that takes a lot of pride in their food but doesn't take itself too seriously. For somebody used to a 25 page diner menu like I am this menu seems almost restrictive, but I'd rather visit a place that does 2 dozen dishes well than 200 fair to middling. I highly recommend this place, it's full of fun and flavor.

Met a friend for lunch who recommended this place. I was not disappointed at all. At first, because it is located in a strip mall, I wasn't expecting too much. Well, the locals must know how good it is, because it became very busy very quickly. It's a small venue, but there is outdoor seating in front. It has a global fusion and offers plates that are Spanish, Hawaiian, etc. and from what I could tell, they are all excellent. Servings were plentiful and the taste was great. Service was fantastic and the whole experience had a festive atmosphere to it. Patrons consisted of both families and business people. Highly recommended.

Also great drinks, good variety of local beer, fun and lively and intimate. Super friendly, warm and professional waiters.

I love love love spicy hot food....but...the Great Balls of Fire appetizer was toooo much! I thought I could handle it with no problem..I was wrong..after having 2 of the gooey hot things my mouth began to go numb and my nose started running...rather than riun being able to taste my entree I stopped eating them but the burn lingered for hours. That being said they were indeed good...just sooo hot. My entree of Tamrind Mint Shrimp Curry (though not nearly as hot) was good and the heat bearable. My partners North African Chakchouka very good as well. The atmosphere here is jovial and bright...a place you would not expect to be found in Portland but perhaps in the Caribbean , the serivce was good..not great. The Fire'Rita drink was delicious but do not make the mistake of ordering it AND the Fire Balls and consuming them together...you will burn. Fun place.

I was at Salavador Molly’s yesterday with 2 of my friends. I mentioned to our server that I had done the Great Balls of Fire Challenge several years ago, and I hung my pic in the Hall of Flame. I moved some pics around, so I could hang mine next to Adam Richman from Man VS Food (as his show was where I first learned of this Challenge). It was very sad to hear (from our server last night) that someone actually stole his pic!!🥺She said at one time his pic was even framed. Anyway… I just wanted to send these pics to you…. With my pic next to Adam’s pic. Sorry the picture quality is not very good. The lighting was dim when we were taking photos. Thanks again for such a Fun Restaurant with YUMMY FOOD! The Fritters are HOT but DELICIOUS TOO! So many choices on the menu too ~~ But everything is DELICIOUS!! Fresh Guacamole & Drum Pan Jerk BBQ are my favorites. We'll definitely be back!!

I was really looking forward to eating here, because I like the rest of America saw the episode where Molly's was featured on Man v. Food. It looked like a fun and exciting place; but don't they all on TV? I went with friends who were visiting from Florida. My first disappointment was that it is located in a strip mall, that is alwasy a distractor for me. We went on a Sunday afternoon, so there were not many people. The wait staff was very nice, very friendly. I ordered the Baja Saba fish tacos. They were actually very tasty, I enjoyed them as did my friend who had never had fish tacos before. My husband had the Molly's Hot Tamales with aritchoke, he said they were "so-so". We did try the "Great Balls of Fire", because, that's what you do when you go there, right? We ordered 3 balls, 3 of us ate 1, they were that kind of hot where you can't even enjoy they taste of the food. In fact it almost ruined the rest of my meal. But I can say that I have tried them! They are also known for their drinks, first I tried their jalapeno infused margarita, it was not spicy at all (I drank it before the Great Balls of Fire), and then I tried their mojito, it was underwhelming. It was not a bad time. The food was good, not GREAT or all that exciting. I can say taht I tried it, but I see no need to go back again.

Waited for service for 15 minutes with not even so much as a hello. The bartender told the young guy to clean off the bar and serve us water and he had his phone and earbuds and didn’t say excuse me or ask me to get up just reached around me and started cleaning the bar by reaching around me so I said I would get up. We continued to wait for the bartender to come over and ask for our drink/food order she kept looking at us but didn’t address us. We left and ate at the mcmenamins in the same area and had excellent service and food.

Went because it was on Man vs Food on TV. Was old and dirty. Food made both of us sick? Sauce on food tasted sour. Would not recommend.
Good, but a little disappointing.
Coming here was a decision made exclusively from Man vs Food. There was a little bit of a wait before we came in. No parking in their lot. We were disppointed there was no Indonesian food because we have a taste for it and it claimed some Indonesian cuisine. We didn't order the Great Balls of Fire due to the sheer size of their towering onion rings. They were filling and delicious. The Chile Rellenos was very dry, but it had a nice kick to it. The Argentinian steak was pretty tasty.
