The food was absolutely delicious. Ravi helped to guide me and my friends regarding vegan options. He even brought dessert and other dishes to our table. Ravi was engaging and friendly, and was genuinely interested in making sure that we had a positive experience. I felt more like a welcome guest in Ravi's home, rather than a patron at his restaurant. I will definitely visit again next time that I am in Philadelphia.

Nice quality food with a good wait staff, lacks atmosphere but the buffet is fu and amply appointed.

I travel to Philly often on business and had heard of Samosa from a cab driver some time back but was not sure where it was located. Fortunately for me, I walked right by it at lunch time today. They have an ice cream store in front so it is not easy to recognize as a restaurant. They offer an $8 buttet lunch so i tried some of virtually everything and went back for seconds on most. The Tandori chicken was the best i have ever had. I could run throught the entire buffet, but honestly everything was great. I will say it was not as spicey as most Indian restaurants which was fine with me because I did not regret eating Indian food for the rest of the day. I suspect if you want more heat they can provide it, but it was perfect for my taste.

Buffet for 7.95 and almost everything tasted good. The owner would come to you and ask about the food and seemed friendly (yet busy).

The first place Dan ever took me for a date. I'm not a fan of Indian food, but this place remains one of his favorites to this day for eating... for me it's more sentimental.

This is some of the finest vegetarian Indian food I've ever had. The buffet-style is perfect as you can get a good meal for a decent price. The food is all delicious and the staff is incredibly kind. The atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming. Without question, the next time I'm in Philadelphia, this will be among my first places to visit.

It's nice to find a good restaurant with a nice buffet. It is vegetarian/vegan Friendly (not exclusively, but we vegans ate well there). The samosas, the salad bar, the chutney, the rice, the fruit: all delcious. There was an interesting variety. All of the food at the buffet at an affordable 12.99. Atmosphere was quiet and clean. I would go back!

New owner (carribean-indian flavor, gayana). Still veg, still buffet, a bit more pricey. About time it's re-opened!! Ravi (former owner) still stops in to eat sometimes.

great food in very calm environment. Buffet lunch and dinner in very fair price.Purely vegetarian, loved it!!!

Have seen reviews on food and quality..I tried buffet on my trip to this place, snacks were gud, timely replaced by fresh and hot ones.main course was in variety, being vegetarian can't comment on non veg food, but veg section was too gud .I have tried buffet, price and quality combinations earlier in lot of the places but this tops the chart.trust ur instinct people it will lead u gud.otherwise there are lot of idiots judging food with only one factor at a time...cheers for gud time I had and sure you will have.

I'm not vegetarian, but I sure would be if I could cook such delicious food! The samosas were super tasty, as were the variety of different chutneys (highly recommend the coconut one). The wait staff was really friendly and seemed to put a lot of care into the food and preparation. Whether for dine in or takeout, you can't beat the price for such quality food.

The delicious samosa, pakora, chutney, spinach paneer, rice, veggie soup, tandoori nan, halua, mango juice, vegan tea just mouth-watering. There are a lot of varieties of foods. I remembered few of them. Must visit kind of place. The chef is a sardarji, who is a wonderful host. He came and served me hot samosa. I really liked the food and his hospitality.

I had been hearing about this fine restaurant from a relative of mine who is a regular there and it was one of my first stops after arriving from Massachusetts! Ravi is a wonderful host. Great Vegan options, love the chana masala pizza, coconut dessert and chai tea. I will return the next time I am in town.

While we were in a cab en route to our hotel, my husband spotted this restaurant. He googled it to check out the menu. It sounded good, so we headed there for lunch. This pleasant little restaurant has buffet dining. A sign announced, "All buffet, no menu." There are signs on every dish in the buffet, so it is easy to tell which foods are vegetarian and which are vegan. This is always a concern for me, as I am lactose intolerant, and so I look for vegan dishes, as I want to avoid foods containing dairy ingredients (milk, butter, cream, whey, etc). For lunch, I chose chana masala, a cup of vegan sambar soup, papadum, pakoras, a samosa, and for dessert, some vegan dhokla (a savory little tidbit with coconut). The papadum was unusual, having a texture like puffed rice. Everything was flavorful and delicious! Husband chose sag paneer, a samosa, naan, chana masala, and pakoras. He enjoyed everything, but he adds a note of caution: "Beware of the pakoras! They're good, but some of them are very spicy hot!" The pakoras are made with a variety of vegetables. Some of them contain string beans, but others that look the same contain long slices of hot green pepper. I enjoyed these spicy hot pakoras, but my husband, not so much. He ate the other kinds and gave all the skinny green ones to me. The chef came by to bring some fresh hot samosas to our table. He stayed to chat for a while, and we enjoyed talking with him. He told us, "The food is cooked with love. You eat it, you feel the love, and you are blessed." What a pleasant man! The buffet had a masala pizza that looked wonderful. I took a photo of it, but of course, I couldn't sample it. I noticed that it was quite popular with the diners because soon after more of it appeared at the buffet, it was gone. I was almost done with my lunch when I discovered the hot beverages. Hot chai tea was available, in a dairy version with milk or in a vegan version with soy milk. I helped myself to the vegan chai tea, which was so good that I went back for seconds. Husband enjoyed the sweet mango nectar, which I sampled. It was delicious, and very sweet indeed. Everything was good! The "all you can eat" lunch buffet was $7.95 a person, advertised as the grand opening special, and it was well worth every penny and more.

Hole in the wall restaurant with incredible food. The price is quite inexpensive for a vegetarian buffet of 2 different kinds of rices, 2 soups, Papadum and Naan breads, with at least 6/8 other entrees, like Chana masala, etc. There are 2 kinds of teas, 2 kinds of desserts, Samosas, fresh salad, etc. It’s quite a place to come for lunch. We ducked into this corner restaurant restaurant not expecting, ugh, but we’re astonished by the very good food. The decor is worn, the exterior is not inviting, but the food is everything. Popular restaurant.

Firstly, how can an Indian restaurant have one of the best pizzas I've ever had? Mind blown. Everything else was delicious as well. Ravi, the owner, is a great human being. Jolliness and happiness pouring out of him. The place is so comfortable and down to earth and homey. I felt like I was a guest at Ravi's house, not a customer in his restaurant.

The service was abysmal and the food worse. Never again. And the guy serving (more like non-serving) us expected a tip?

The food here was just about average with mostly vegetarian dishes. The guy managing the place was one cold fish. Didn't seem like he wanted to be there, was actually a little stand-offish and just didn't seem to care. Will definitely not be going back.

It is buffet and there is so much food. The owner is so nice and the food is simple but absolutely amazing. I will definitely come back many times!

I went with a friend on a weekday evening and we got the buffet. The vegetarian options were good. I had the baigan bharta and dhal and chana masala and they were all decent. My friend didn't like the chicken but found a couple other things to eat. The staff were friendly and the place was clean. The food was good and affordable. I will come back.

This is one of the BEST places to eat Indian Food. The restaurant food is cooked fresh EVERY single day, it's all that you can eat and is extremely affordable. The Staff is always friendly. There's a choice between eating the buffet or from the menu. MMMMmm all the food is a finger licking treat. And their after dinner tea is just awesome. It's been around for a long, long time and thank goodness we have it.

I used to come here back in the day for solid vegetarian fare. It has changed hands a few times since then- opened and closed once or twice and was, quite frankly, not very good for a while. THEN, just the other day, I was out with my husband and we noticed Samosa was open again. I suggested we try it. Maybe we would get lucky and it would be the best ever again. We stepped inside and there was Ravi. Ravi did not know us but we absolutely knew him. My heart leapt! I knew I was in for a tremendous treat! Samosa did not disappoint. I almost wept as I tasted some old favorites. The lentil soup and palak paneer are so good. In good food you can taste the love. Words cannot describe how happy and warm I felt at lunch this day. And then there’s the rice pudding. Damn this stuff is delicious. Thank you, Ravi for bringing a ray of sunshine back to the dismal landscape that was Indian food in Philadelphia.

All you can eat, good food, kosher, vegetarian and a friendly owner! Just be aware that It is only open for lunch.

Authentic, affordable. cozy. not a fancy decor, but the food is awesome. It is BYOB so you need to take beer with you if you plan to drink

when i used to go here there was a $5 lunch buffet that was so good! i luuvved it in my caseworker days

I'm pretty much a dairy-based life form but I really enjoy the vegan food at Samosa. The chana is delicious and I adore the vegan chai. The veggie pakora are light and crunchy, and the kheer (rice pudding) very good. Though some of the dishes are stalwarts of Indian buffets across the US, Samosa's versions are anything but pedestrian. Having lunch here feels like getting to eat a family meal. Everything is vegetarian and there are many vegan options, and at $8 for all you care to eat it's a tremendous deal

food is great. simple style of serving yourself and the owner also walks around to hand deliver more fresh naan. I will be returning many more times.

This restaurant has changed names, and presumably owners at least three times since I've lived in the neighborhood. It used to be all vegetarian but the last two incarnations have included a regular meat menu. The food has always been fairly ordinary, perhaps not bad for an inexpensive lunch at the buffet, but nothing special at all. The dinner buffet is a very reasonable $9.99 and at a recent meal included chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, chicken biryani, vegetable curry and another veggie dish, samosa's, etc. We also ordered Saag Paneer off the menu and is was mediocre. So it's OK if you're hungry and don't have much money, but for a nice Indian meal, there are a lot of better choices nearby.

I love this place. Located within a few blocks of Wills Eye Institute where I have monthly appointments, it is my go-to lunch establishment. I am a vegetarian, so the fact that all but four buffet items are veggie is a big bonus. I love the samosas, dahl, tikka masala, and at least five other offerings. The owner delivers freshly-made nan right to the table, too. Atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. Can't beat San Samosa for value at this price!

While the food was edible this is one of the strangest restaurants I have ever eaten in. The served had no interest in taking our order, had to find him for the bill - was he really hiding? Do not recommend.

One of the closest Indian Buffets located east of Broad Street along Walnut Street. Food is not bad but it can definitely improve especially if I had to compare it with the UCity Indian buffets like Sitar India and New Delhi.

We went there for some Indian cuisine, we entered and the guy was answering barely our question, we asked if they charge for kids he said 5 and up, our son is 4, each time we will ask he will answer like he is not in the mood to talk to any one, when he refilled the water it was warm. And when he brought the bill it included our son buffet, and he disappeared. For the food it's not that spicy for Indian food, it was edible but not good, the biriani was cold like it was there for hours, the mixed veggies was just tasteless potatoes and green beens the salad part had no variety, as for the fruits. I would not recommend

Cheapest Indian buffet around, although the selection isn't too big. Not very greasy or spicy, so it feels healthy but I come out a little unfulfilled. They shoudl add some of the new Caribbean menus in the buffet selection.

Excellent value for money for $7.95 for all you can eat home cooked food. Epicurean selection of dishes from soup to samosas, pakora, pizza, punjabi saag, pakaro kadhi, salads, mango lassi, kheer, gulab jamin, jalebi mouth watering and end it all with masala chai!!!

Good Indian food for the price. If you are vegetarian then you must try out this place. The food reminds you of typical home food. Good appetizers (Pakora and samosa), Salads, Good Entree with many curry vegetables, Rice, Fresh warm Naan and Desert (Yummy Gulab Jamun). They also served Tasty Delicious Pizza (one kind). Ravi (the owner) was serving Fresh Samosas and Naans) time to time. He mad us feel like we are home. Thank you Ravi for your hospitality. Good Luck!!! I definitely recommend this Place. Dipul P

great way to try the many tastes of vegetarian indian cuisine that allowed us to try new things. Nice casual atmosphere. Good price at $12.99 for Sunday dinner. They did have a few meat options and full menu available.

The owner Ravi invited us to visit his upcoming food joint in Walnut street and we were amazed to see the way he decorated his place. Peace, peace and peace. Very nice food, the one special thing about their kitchen is they put one special ingredient called LOVE and affection which makes their food so tasty and delicious. They recreated “Pind- Village” and the whole experience was awesome and I can never forget my time spent in “Samosa”. Best option found in Philadelphia for vegetarians. I would strongly recommend all Indian food lovers to visit once and I bet you will love it. I just loved the hospitality of the owner and Ravi is one of the best host I met till date. If you haven’t yet tried at Samosa no wonder you missed out something on taste and most of all it suits your pockets as well. It will be functional in 2 week’s time so be ready for amazing food and experience. Buffet for Lunch is going to be a super hit. Mango Lassi is out of the world.

Best Samosas every single time. Ravi goes above and beyond to provide exceptional vegetarian dishes. This is my favorite lunch spot in all of Philly. Same room for the amazing rice pudding

The Samosa is a newly opened, somewhat spartan, but very enjoyable vegetarian restaurant. The lunch buffet was inexpensive and delicious. The hours were limited to lunch at the time I went, but I believe they will be expanded soon to include dinner -- check before you go. The restaurant is small and it gets busy, so plan your arrival accordingly. Interestingly, they have a Kosher certification.

I don't like Samosa as much now with the new owners. Still ok food though. Definitely try the palak paneer.

Palik paneer and mango chutney ftw!!

This easy to be at place offers buffet service for a set price. I believe it was $8 per person. It is good hearty food with a good kick of spiciness The owner is very kind and definitely welcoming. He is proud of what he offers. This rating is based more on the kindness of the owner and the affordability.

My brother and I ordered vegetarian lamb curry, vegetarian tikka masala, veggie pakora, samosas. ($36) The "pakora" were soggy pieces of greasy cauliflower. Inedible. The samosas were burnt and lacked flavor. We moved on to the curry, to discover after consuming a piece that we were given real lamb! I repeated several times on the phone that we wanted the soy lamb, and even referenced menu numbers. The woman who took our order even called back to confirm what I had said. I returned for a refund, and was treated rudly buy the unapoleagetic man at the counter. His only statement after I commented his rudeness was that he didnt take the order. San Samosa's food is bland and greasy, and the customer service abominable. Plenty of better options for indian in center city, NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

I was happy to see that Samosa restaurant recently reopened, after closing a few years ago. I used to eat there often and loved the authentic, no-frill food. I was even more delighted to find out that the place has kept its commitment to authentically delicious North Indian food. Ravi, son of the original owners, is doing a great job in keeping a varied and well balanced buffet and flavorful dishes. The price is beyond reasonable at less than $8 for the all you can eat.
Lunch at Samosa!
This is me and my girlfriend’s favorite Indian restaurant in Philly! The food is delicious and and is at a good price. The samosas and the naan are served insanely fresh, literally some of the freshest bread I’ve ever eaten. We come here for lunch whenever we’re downtown!
