Fantastic Food and Dining Experience

By 815maryannem |

i had the pleasure to invite a 90 year old Koser friend to the Samurai restaurant recently, We had a great meal and a wonderful time. It was a joy to see the look on Anette's face when the chef came out and started cooking at our table. She talked about it for a month afterward. The menu could apparently accommodate her Koser eating style. I enjoyed the chicken teriyaki an old favorite of mine, and the ginger dressing salad is to die for. Good prices too. I will return again and recommend this restaurant.

Going Downhill...

By SoFla1947 |

We ate at Samurai recently after about a one year hiatus. Things here have changed, and not for the better. Portion size has been greatly decreased (three small shrimp make up an entire appetizer portion ???) while prices have risen significantly. Some ingredients are gone from the dishes (the mixed hibachi vegetables now consists of only zucchini and onions...no more broccoli and no more carrots) and some menu items are just plain gone altogether (including the Filet Mignon and Shrimp Combination and my favorite...the Chicken Liver Appetizer). The place is still fun, and the food that they serve is still pretty good, but so many negative changes, plus the balance of food to value, will keep me from making the long trip from my home to Samurai anytime in the near future. I can no longer recommend the place, and since I've been eating here (and celebrating special occasions here) for MANY years, that saddens me. First timers will no doubt be pleased, but old regulars like me are in for a disappointment.

Similar to Benihana's

By blondissa |

Getting together with a friend yesterday at Samurai for an early dinner. Samurai is very similar to Benihana with the big hibachi table that guests can sit at watching the chef cook their meal in front of them. Always entertaining. We ordered the Samurai Spicy Shrimp & Filet meal, the Samurai Onion Soup and Samurai salad, and the Samurai California Roll. Everything was delicious. Service was very good here. Our server was attentive to our needs. Parking was easy and we got a good spot near the resturant. It was a very good experience.

No waiter???

By Simons28 |

Just came here for a lunch at the sushibar after 15 minutes still no waiter so i decide to left this place!

A Good Thing my meal was free

By denversmom |

I received a certificate for a free meal on my birthday from Benihana's Chef's Table. Benihana owes the Samurai in Miami. It is a good thing the meal was free because if I had paid the $35 menu price, I might have been sick. First of all, part of the meal is the show. Our chef, Hector, did absolutely NO show. He didn't shape the fried rice in a heart shape and make it "beat", he didn't flip the shrimp tail into his hat. He didn't even attempt to twirl a knife. First, he argued with me about the Samurai Special, which the menu said came with steak and lobster, and he said was chicken and lobster. I finally had to politely ask to see a menu so I could change my order, when he finally agreed with me. My meal came with a shrimp appetizer, which was not on the grill. When I asked about it, he said it was coming. The order of the meal was totally out of whack. The waiter served soup, salad and drinks first. Then the chef cooked the rice and served it first. It was cold by the time anything else was finished. Next came the steak, then the lobster (which was so salty I couldn't eat it) and after that the vegetables. Lastly, my shrimp "appetizer." My son ordered the chicken which was cooking on the grill this whole time. By the time it was plated it resembled dark brown rocks. The chef asked if I wanted fried rice, not bothering to add that it would cost $3.25 extra. I usually enjoy the taste of the food at Samurai because they use a lot of garlic butter. For some reason, this chef had 2 different types of butter on his cart and hardly ever used the yummy garlic butter. I doubt that I will go back. It keeps getting worse each time I visit.

Always Good, but ALWAYS Long Wait

By iamafairadvisor |

Went on a weekday hoping to avoid the long lines. NO WAY! There is always such a long wait. Food was good. Service was good. I would definitely go more often if it were not for their long wait to be able to eat.

Be ready to wait, no there choice

By Blunttruth201 |

Recently went to Samurai on what I thought would be a slow night. There is mandatory complimentary valet and the line was out to the roadway. Went in to check in with the hostess and heard it was a 1 to 1 and a half hour wait. Problem is, there is no way to make a reservation. Not by calling, website or OpenTable. It's hit or miss with the wait but the food is amazing. Service is consistent and the environment, if not too packed, is charming. Recommended for anyone willing to wait for a hibachi table or goes at an obscure time on an obscure day.

food and service good

By Wild Miami |

My husband and I asked for to go boxes, but the waitress put mine in with his. His food is spicy and I can't eat spicy because of stomach issues! Why would they do that? I was looking forward to the leftovers for lunch, but now I can't eat it!

Good for Families ONLY

By ExigentTraveller |

I rate this restaurant Very Good not because of the food or ambience, but because it is a very good restaurant for kids with families. It is noisy, the place is simple, there are no windows and you must go directly to dry cleaning after eating as clothes get impregnated with the food odor. Tables are for 8 people and shared if you are in a smaller party. It is usually super crowded and does not take reservations. But kids absolutely love seeing the food being prepared in front of them and the chefs play a bit with the food and the kids. Do not go there if you don't have kids ... I felt sorry for the young couple who shared the table with us.

worst hibachi restaurant in my experience

By fairycastle |

If you've been to this kind of restaurant you know the drill. So, just the facts: glum dining room; the chef's "tricks" were very limited and boring; the miso soup was tepid and tasted awful; the sesame crust on the tuna (cooked properly rare) was a blanket of raw seeds; the noodles were so overcooked that they were mush. Nobody bothered taking the leftovers home. A disaster.

Wife birthday

By Junior A |

Worst manager I ever met. Tried to enjoy my wife birthday and the server didn’t appear until half hour later . When I tried to contact the manager I got attitude . I tried to talk to the general manager and he tried to argue and confront me . Starting to say I was drunk. I have never received worst service. I only had one mojito . Never knew These ppl can be so messed up . I got once a week and spend about 100$ and this Is how I get treated .

Very Good and Fun Dinner!!

By Manny A |

This place is a gold mine! Alway a wait to get a table and parking is only valet. The place is very popular for a reason though. The food is delicious and the cooks always make it a fun experience. Perfect place to celebrate a birthday or any special occasion! The portions are pretty big too, so everyone leaves with the now iconic Samurai doggie bag.

Catching up

By Monica L |

I just left this restaurant, and it never changes. The atmosphere is awesome, the chef always puts on a show. The service is good and the food amazing. It's honestly better to bring your own party of 8 because otherwise you will be sat with strangers. However you quickly forget that you are at a table with people you don't know thanks to the great attitude and showmanship of the cook. Only downside is that no matter what day you come here, there is always a wait. Completely worth the wait if you ask me!

Samourai always Samourai

By pdnirc |

Here also one of the oldest Hibachi place in Miami, destroyed with Andrew but rebuilt and newly restored. Even though it has changed hands and the chicken livers disappeared from the menu, the place is a great place to take the children out. I always take my friends from abroad there if they have their kids because if you are lucky or if you stimulate the cook enough, it will be a great moment of peace from your kids. The food is traditional Hibachi even though they offer sushi too. I always take the samurai triple and it is great. You can have fried rice too but I suggest one for two is enough. Here again no sophistication in the dishes but straight Hibachi. not the place for date, but great for friends and family.

Excellent

By Marina M |

We ordered a meal to go and were met with our food at the car almost immediately upon parking. It was all delicious. Will definitely go back.

One of my favorites

By jqbug |

This place is the kind of place you can go over and over again. They have this shrimp sauce that its to die for. Yes, the original Samurai has changed a bit only because Benihana is now owners of it so the Menu and prices are benihana, They know better on taking away the shrimp/pink sauce. It would of been back by popular demand if taken off..I can assure you! Before benihana took over the veggies side was a lot better. It had Brocolli which is great with the shrimp/pink sauce. Samurai used to give you the option of appetizer...now its just shrimp. Overall the difference isn't to big. I still enjoy it and I tend to take left overs which still taste as great the day after.

Hostess unbelievably Rude

By Ciktom N |

My wife and I were considering going to this place. I called to see if they had call ahead waiting. The hostess that answered the phone told me, “No, you will have to come to the front and wait like everyone else.” I couldn’t believe she was sooo rude! Guess what hostess, I don’t have to wait at your restaurant, because I will not darken the door or spend my money there.

Great Place for Dinner

By Kryssi M |

We went here for a birthday dinner and our chef was great! he was really funny. The food was great and a good atmosphere.

Why the long wait

By Ronald |

The real problem around the SAMURAI extreme and tiring wait times simply revolve around a simple issue. Not enough chefs. Food is excellent and fresh but this does NOT condone the irresponsibilty of management to have its act together. While one can have immediate seating on non-habachi tables tells us that there are available chefs in the kitchen. Why not satisfy a habachi table for more numbers in seating. Not good management for a establishment so popular. June 2 visit 2018

Good dinner, fun experience

By Alany O |

We love coming here either lunch or dinner. The quality of the food has gotten better and it's always a fun experience with the chefs.

Wow...it's REALLY Good Again

By SoFla1947 |

Some time back I wrote a review of Samurai which had been a long time favorite that had deteriorated to the point where I would no longer dine there. It was disappointing, since I had been going there and really enjoying myself for more than twenty years. After years of staying away we went back just to see if it still was so bad, and I'm pleased to tell you that it's REALLY GOOD once again. The food is once again fresh and delicious. Good quality, nicely prepared, great variety (try the scallops and Filet Mignon combo), and an overall fun and delicious experience. We've been going back frequently in recent months, and I thought that it was about time that I wrote a positive review, now that it is so richly deserved once again. And the "Shrimp Sauce"? I could BATHE in it...

Typical Hibachi Restaurant

By Business Traveller |

They do a good job, but it isnt anything fancy. I would say it is similar to the rest of the hibachi places I have ever been to. They put on a good show and charge too much money.

DELICIOUS FOOD

By Elizabeth Guerrero Miami Realtor |

One of my favorite restaurants. I always order the rice with vegetables chicken and steak. They serve you a great amount of food. Restaurant is great for the family. They cook right in front of you. The food is always fresh. I highly recommend Benihana Samurai.

Family dinner

By Susan H |

Food was good servers were good however the place was so hot that the sweat was running down our faces I went up to the seaters and asked if they could please lower the a/c or bring in fans. They did nothing. This is the second time in less than a month that we have sweltered in the restaurant. It is hard to enjoy eating when all you can do is wipe the sweat off! Their loss

Japanese Experience

By sonfollower |

I was taken to this restaurant by friends. We were appointed our own Chef who asked us what we would like and explained the different meats we could have and how he would cook them. We were introduced to a selection of sauces and accompaniments which complemented the cooked meat. The Chef not only cooked for us but made the experience a complete entertainment. We sat fascinated as we watched his culinary skills.

Just like Kobe...

Nothing special, you just need to go there once, the tricks will be the same. Good place to bring friends that still don't know how it works. The guy that cooked for us was with his nails completely dirty. Disgusting!

Great place for birthdays

By jj1234jane |

I took my friend there for his birthday. Was lots of fun. And food spectacular! Service was friendly. Dessert awesome!

Comp the fried rice!

By ttkendall |

Usually love Samurai and try to visit during lunch on weekdays because of the cost. I had not visited in a while but this Saturday I went with my daughter and was astonished at the weekend prices. While the food was delicious, as always, Samurai shouldn't charge extra to get fried rice instead of white. For these prices, it should be included. Maybe that's why the place was more than half empty. Won't be visiting again on a weekend. Too expensive.

EXCELLENT RESTAURANT JAPANESE

By Arnold1936 |

A delightful evening with superb chef Sergio, who made an excellent introduction to the preparation of food. Their quality of product they offer is exquisite, the price is commensurate with the quality. The attention of your staff has no failure and celebrate with special details to their customers. I recommend this restaurant for the whole family.

Überraschend gut und verdammt gutes Essen! Empfehlenswert!

By BLNGPH |

Worth the time

By JeQ |

The chef's take their time. The food is very good and the staff friendly. The meal is prepared in front of you in stages and the kids like the chef's showmanship. The staff goes out of its' way to make it a thoughtful as well as tasty experience.

Excellent meal for any warrior

By DisneyDude |

Been coming to the Samurai since I was a kid and while the restaurant has changed its layout, the food has always remained consistent. Everything on the menu is delicious and the service is on point, your water will never be empty. Chef's are great and they always interact with the table. The later in the evening you arrive, the longer the wait will be. I have never been for lunch, but here the lunch specials are an amazing deal. Free valet parking

A place to AVOID

By Racl07 |

This is one of those place that I felt obliged to write, it is the perfect place you recommend to your enemies. I went with my family for a Sunday family lunch, it is by far the worse restaurant experience we ever had (including 3rd world countries), Bad customer service, management, food, etc If you can avoid this place, unless you really hate someone, then take them there. Never again.

It's always good and fun

By Raul A M |

The wait is a bit much since they don't take reservations. The wait is well worth it. Go with a group of friends and you'll have a blast. We all order the Shrimp, Chicken and Steak dinner and it was cooked to perfection. We also order the special fried rice that is to die for. The cook was entertaining and lively. The dinner includes a great soup & salad. The one draw back is that it was very hot in the room by the end of the dinner. The only reason for not getting 5 stars.

Excellent meal and great atmosphere!

By Kellie S |

Beni Hana's owns this restaurant and it's the same style -- group seating around a hibachi grill. Of course, your experience depends largely on the character of your chef, but overall we've had good experiences here. A little disappointing that most of the chef's are actually not Japanese (as they are in Oregon where I am from), but they do a good job entertaining. The food is fabulous... a little on the expensive side, but similar in price to any Beni Hana's. They also have lunch service which is a very similar amount of food for a much reduced price.

Pack your patience and empty stomach

By adanger25 |

If it wasn't for the super....super...super long wait then it might get all 5 stars. I have been to many hibachi restaurants in my life and they are all pretty much the same. The show is the same no matter what chef you get. Its cheesy but kids love it. And that's why I love it. It entertains my son every time we go. The food always taste good. I have never had an issue with any of the meals at any hibachi restaurant especially Samuri. The quality of the food is great and the amount you receive justifies the price. I only wish it didn't not take as long as it did to be seated and begin being served. I arrived at 6:20 in the afternoon and it took over an hour to be seated... on a Wednesday. And then by the time your order gets in, you wait very long before your chef comes out to begin service. This place is great to celebrate birthdays.

After a 20yr+ hiatus, returned to this establishment! Simply Awesome! GetSome!!

Perfect as I remembered

By Mark B |

It was my birthday dinner. The last time I ate at Samurai was 31 years ago. It was always one of my favourite restaurants and remains the same. The service is great, the food amazing as always and the entire ambiance is the same even with the changes made throughout the years. I was able to purchase some of the newer special drink figurines to add to my collection. Waitress who seated us was absolutely amazing. (did not get her name) My dining experience time was on January 09, 2020 at approximately 21:00 hrs.

Good sitting areas!!

By X*Vaccaro |

This is my 2nd time back, both visits were business visits. Nice restaurant with great seating areas. The meals is good and service is average nothing spacial. No reservations needed they set you as you come - we ordered COMBO lunch good price and good meal. I recommend seat and seafood, this restaurant also has a Sushi bar looks good - never tried yet but I can tell it is nice place. Enjoy

Good Food and Show but Getting Pricey

By Charles L |

Some years ago Benihana bought out Samurai, but the Samurai name stands. The main attractions are the quality of the food and the showmanship of the cooks who prepare your meal at the table. Tables seat 8 to 10 people and can feel a bit cramped. They have recently remodeled to add a larger bar/sushi lounge. Lunchtime is pretty busy, but practically any night after 6:15 you should expect to wait for a table. Weekends after about 6:30 the waits can be well over an hour. They have been steadily increasing prices and I don't like the charge for fried rice which other hibachi chains include in the meal price. Relative to other chains like Kabuto, Samurai portions are smaller but Samurai's salad dressings and sauces are much better. Expect the standard hibachi restaurant offerings and if you join the chef's table on-line you will get e-mailed monthly specials and a free meal (Mon-Thurs) during your birthday month.

Good food! Nice atmosphere!

By MIA-2-TheWorld |

Our last of many visit to this restaurant was with some friends to celebrate a special occasion in a Saturday afternoon. FOOD: very good, the rolls are freshly prepared as well of the main entrées. Great taste ATMOSPHERE: You have the choice to seat at the sushi bar if not in the mood to wait long to seat with others in a table where the chef prepares the food right in front of you. The food is the same in both places. This time we sat at the chef’s table with another four people we did not know, but where thankfully very nice. VALUE: in my opinion, the food quality and the price go hand-and-hand. Be careful of celebration fees, such as cutting a cake or singing happy birthday. SERVICE: this time it was awesome. We have had some not so attentive waitress in the pass at the sushi bar, so I cannot say it is consistently great. PARKING: not allowing self-parking, so be ready for valet.

$30 Birthday certificate!

By WeWannaGoTooo |

I received a $30 birthday certificate from Samurai. We went on Thursday night and was surprised that it was very crowded. They only have free valet parking. We decided to get a private table because there was a little wait for hibachi dinner with a chef. It’s a very nice restaurant and there was no one in the private table area so we were served very quickly. The server was very friendly and familiar with the birthday certificate. The birthday certificate requires you to purchase $60 worth of food and they subtract the $30 certificate. It doesn’t apply to any other food specials that they have in the menu. They have a very extensive menu. We ordered the spicy hibachi shrimp and hibachi seafood combination. They both came with soup and salad and one birthday dessert. Everything was delicious and filling. We will definitely be returning next year on my birthday! The birthday certificate can only be used Monday through Thursday. I assumed that the restaurant was so crowded because everyone was there using birthday certificates.

Great food

By Andre O |

There our second time trying to get a seat, they don't accept reservations, the first time we give up over 2 hours waiting time, so we try in a Monday, the parking lot full, as well the restaurant, 20 minutes wait to be seated and another 30 minutes sitting in the tepanyaki area waiting to start the food preparation, worth it. The food is great, don't ask for appetizers if you go for a full entree, is there a lot of food and we aren't able even to share a dessert. Wine list is poor.

Surprisingly good Japanese restaurant!

By Mac_G5 |

Having lived in Japan, we're pretty fussy about Japanese food. Most places we try rarely meet the standards set by the restaurants in Japan. So when our friends asked us to go to Samurai in South Miami, we were immediately skeptical. The place was packed - on a Thursday night - and took us over an hour and a half to reach from the main beach areas of Miami Beach. However, it was well worth it. The food was great and the atmosphere was nice. You wouldn't necessarily find this in Tokyo, but it wasn't bad. After taking more than an hour and a half to reach the restaurant in the southern part of Miami, we walked in and the first thing we noticed was that there were no Japanese chefs anywhere. That added to our skepticism. However, when our chef finally did arrive, he put on a great show and served up some amazing Teppanyaki with great skill. I had what they called the Triple Samurai, which consisted of new York's Strip steak, chicken, and shrimp. They were served with what could only be described as a heap of grilled vegetables and fried rice. My wife had the Yakisoba, which was equally good. A little sweet for my taste, but she really enjoyed it. We were also surprised when everyone got three or four large pieces of shrimp as a free appetizer . All in, it was a really great meal and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Japanese food in Miami.

Special occassion spot, grandson asked to have dinner on birthday. He was not disappointed and we all enjoyed his selection

Poor Policy and Service

By melissaperez474 |

We went to Samurai last night for an early dinner. It was during their happy hour. I asked the waitress for the happy hour menu and she said I had to order at the bar. So I went to the bar and the bartender said it's against the restaurant's policy to get a drink from the bar and take it back to the table. I have never heard of a restaurant having a policy like this. I ended up ordering a drink at my table from the waitress and her demeanor definitely changed. She wasn't very pleasant. The happy hour should be for the whole restaurant, not just the people at the bar. We have kids and are not about to have dinner at the bar with them sitting there. Rethink your policy Samurai!!!

Fun Place to Eat

By BeHappy |

We went the other day to have a dinner with my family, the food was ok, nothing spectacular, but the show was good, and my kids had a lot of fun. Prices are high.

Excellent chef & server!

By kriswalk |

We frequent this restaurant often, and it is always good. This particular visit, we had an excellent chef (Ivan) & an excellent waitress (Kaitlin). They were both extrmely attentive, funny and really great to all of the guests at our table! We had a blast. We will be asking for them by name next time.

Best Shrimp Sauce!

By lyla l |

My favorite place to eat when I come to Miami is Samurai. They have the best shrimp sauce I've ever tasted and I've tasted them all from any Japanese steakhouse. The prices are really affordable if you go for lunch, dinner is too pricey in my opinion. Service is good, they do there best to wait in you. There is usually a wait but it's not long. I highly recommend anything with that shrimp sauce. Let me not forget to mention the fried rice, people have come and ordered an extra fried rice to go!

It's a really fun place...

Very family oriented with excellent cooks and unique cuisine. Service was fairly good. Not all waitresses works with the same dedication and effort, but overall it was very good.

THIS IS THE BEST!

THIS IS THE BEST!

Whatever happened??

By Winnie |

We have been coming here for years, and while the food was good and our chef Jaime was competent. The management has gone way downhill. The resturant was grossly understaffed and therefore the waiting is not acceptable. It took almost 45 minutes for the first course of soup to come once we had been sitted. Again the food was good, however I don't consider onions and a few pieces of zucchini to be "vegetables". The steamed rice I ordered never came, when I mentioned it, the waitress offered me a "free" ice cream, which was included in my meal. A table mate asked for some water and was told by a busboy/food runner, go ask your waiter. When I informed the manager instead of apologizing he said well maybe he had dirty hands. For the price and the wait definetly not worth it. Too Bad, it used to be great

BAD WAITRESS

By Odyssey685417 |

We had a great time until the waitress Catherine gave us our soup and strictly enforced that she had given us our salad, when it fact she had not. How could five people be wrong. I enformed the manager, I assumed he spoke to her, he could have shown more interest in the situation and us..poor poor poor. The chef was amazing and I did tip him.. Samurai needs to do better in hiring/training employees in customer relations.

Service and quality have declined gradually over the years

By arcadence |

I don't necessarily mind sitting at a table with strangers and breaking bread, but the whole gimmick of putting on a show while you eat wears off pretty quickly. After you've seen the show once, there's really no need to see it again. Often times because of the inexperience of the cook, some of the food gets burnt while other food doesn't get fully cooked. Also, the fried rice is cooked first and placed on your plate. By the time you get the rest of your food and vegetables, your rice is cold. You end up eating what's put on your plate as it comes in order to eat the food while it's hot. I don't know if it's just me or if anyone else in the world agrees with me but who cares about the shrimp sauce. It's not to die for. It covers the rather bland (unless the cook dumps a crapload of garlic butter on the food and too much salt) food with some flavor. I'm not sure if it's Americans, Miamians or just people in general, but if you need to slobber a bowl full of sauce all over your food to make it edible, then you really need to reevaluate what you're putting in your mouth. While everyone's taste is different, I just find Samurai to be an average dining experience but a bit on the pricey side for what you get. Lastly, the waiter gave me the wrong change by almost two dollars. Firstly, they rounded the change on the bill up to the next dollar, and then shorted me an extra dollar. After speaking to a couple people, it seems like that is a common practice between some of the servers there. I didn't even bother asking for the extra two dollars. I just applied it to the tip.

Entertaining dining

By Dorothy P |

Great service and friendly staff. Sharing the table did prove to be an adventure. Another couple had two small children but our chef was so entertaining that the children were mesmerized. It was a fun family night!

If it smells good

By terrenomar |

The service is good the seating is ok, if you don't mind eating with strangers. That said if you're with a group of people you may get your own table. The food is very good and combined with the show it is great. Rest assured this is not a place to go on a Budget. If you're in the mood for Chinese and on a Budget you can go to "Take e Outie" my spelling may be bad but there food is great. It's located next to the Publix one and a half blocks west of Benihana on 136st across the street from the Falls.

Don't go with an Appetite

By MrMiamiExplorer |

Samurai is one of those places that many folks go to more as a novelty than for an appetite. The food preparation show was enjoyable but the food portions were very small. For the high price we paid: a few shrimp, tiny scraps of chicken, and a small bit of rice and vegetables were not that filling. I ended up going home hungry.

Awesome

By Nico |

I think it was really cool how the chefs cooked the food right at your table- a style that has become increasingly popular lately. The only negative was that there was a HUGE wait 1 and a half hours!!! Food worth it though.

Birthday celebration

I had taken my husband here for his birthday and the food was delicious. The drinks though were horrible and luckily the waitress understood. We had a great time and the food was great.

A great special occasion restaurant

By Judy B |

One of my favorites; food is cooked at table and always great. Portions are plentiful. Though a little pricey, it is a good value as left-overs taste really good too.

Good for Group Celebration

By evanses5 |

This is our “go to” place for family birthday celebrations. Warning, there is always a long wait to be seated. The place does not take reservations. We all ordered steak with either lobster, shrimp, or scallops. Our chef entertainingly cooked our rice and vegetables Everything was very good. Drinks are expensive.

Always fun!

Benihana is for everyone, especially the kids!!! And this one is no exception! It is conveniently located across the street from the famous outside shopping mall, The Falls. The waiting time on busy nights is really not long but you can have appetizers and drinks at a high table while you wait! The food as always: GREAT! The chefs are very pleasing, the service is excellent and they make it a point to give you your money’s worth of a Japanese cooking show! The amounts are abundant so sharing is an option, as you can always “fill-in” on the sides!!!!

Samurai The Best

By Day P |

With simple words is the best hibachi place I've been so far, is all about that delicious sauce OMG is just awesome. The salad and soup are very yummy I'll never get tired of this restaurant, and the chef makes the experience even better with their nice presentations. The only con is that you better go very early or be prepared to wait like an hour to be seated but it's definitely worth it. Strongly recommended.

HAI!!!

By Krusnik N |

If your looking for a good place to have some awesome Japanese Food, Samurai offers delicious food, especially from their Hibachi table. When I went with a friend, the chef was freaking awesome and made the whole thing an experience with his skills and joking around with us. It was fantastic.

Flying Shrimp

By tygers79 |

Outstanding food and service. We waited with another couple who said they come here often and they would wait for a table even if the wait was over three hours!

First timer and planning to return

By Hector D M |

I was there recently with my daughter. We wanted to dine in a regular table, without the cooking show and it was a little difficult for the hostess to understand what we wanted. At last we were able to get a table and ordered diner by the 4 course special they had, which by the way was fantastic for a very reasonable price. Good food, good portions great taste and good price. Good atmosphere and the service was good. I plan to return

Long wait and just ok

By Sunshinefalls |

We took my mother in law and aunt here to celebrate birthdays with lunch. We waited 30 minutes for a table only because we didn't want to make the drive to ruson Japanese in kendall. The server was polite, our hibachi chef was just ok seen more enthusiasm elsewhere. The food was mediocre at best. The atmosphere is very nice but that's all I can appreciate. We had the chicken, shrimp, steak and scallops. The shrimp and steak came up above the other dishes. Overall liked it. Good for first date, datenight or time with family and friends. 4th visit still mot impressed.

Great experience!

By Pattypop28 |

It's great for large groups. The drinks are reasonable. Our chef Ronny was awesome. We arrived at closing time and they still took good care of us.

Great experience!!!

By Gus L |

We celebrated my daughters birthday at Samurai. All I can say is that they really took great care of us all. We were a party of 11, the chef (Binh) was exceptional. He was funny, and very entertaining. The waitress was excellent. Full of smiles and she was all over us. We never had to ask for water or drinks the entire evening. The food was delicious and the restaurant was very nice and clean. I would for sure return.

Just go one time

By comaruG |

Excelent food, but if you go more than one time, you will have the same experience, there you do not have diferent kinds of food

Nice place, good food!!

By Alainlamar |

This is my secound time in this restaurant and the firth i write s review of this place. This time the food was good like always but the chef was awesome, very funny and interact with the people. In overal i like it and my son enjoyed a lot. I reccomend this place

Excellent and Interactive dining for the whole family!

By SV0710 |

They are great at Samurai! The food is delicious! Try to get the special fried rice added to your order. I absolutely love their pink sauce. The chefs really try and make it a Hibachi fun filled experience, no matter the age. They make fun shapes with the rice( Mickey, hearts, etc) and not to mention they have a great cocktails!

Lots of Money to Leave Hungry

By Nioka C |

It took a while to get our appetizers and we didn’t get all we ordered, but the waiter was hardly around to get what we needed. It was at least 45 minutes before the chef came out to start cooking. The meat was over cooked, veggies undercooked and just not a great experience at all. $180 for 3 meals and 3 appetizers that were subpar at best.

Great food, long wait, high prices

By Dan W |

The restaurant was beautiful, the staff was very nice. Better yet the food was amazing. The prices as to be expected are high. As well it was loud, but again to be expected. If your in the mood for hibachi I certainly recommend trying this restaurant out.

No A/C

By Rick P |

The last few times I have gone here the A/C has been at 87 degrees in the East room. I love this place, but cannot deal with A/C off or set to 87 degrees.

Probably the best restaurant I've eaten at.

By Paula Y |

Wow. VERY PRICY-- but always worth it. On a girls night or date night or a family dinner, it's one of the better restaurants in Miami. I go every year for my birthday and friends' birthdays and each time it gets better and better than the time before. Staff is SO nice and they accomodate your every need. Delish!

The food its great and its very entertaining. Great for big groups and the bar has great drinks and appetizers

Best in Miami!!

By Greg6987 |

As always, Samurai never disappoints!! Definitely the best tempenyaki in Miami. Nothing like having delicious food made right in front of you. Their sauces are the best, much better then the ones at Benihana. Overall great dining experience for adults and children to enjoy!

My daughter's 16th birthday celebration!

By Ursula Y |

My daughter chose Samurai for her 16th birthday celebration. We had 7 friends join us and they were able to accommodate 10 guests at a table. The service was superb, our server was friendly and our chef Noel was incredibly funny! The food was delicious and everyone was satisfied. I brought in a cake and they stored it for us until it was time to sing Happy Birthday. All in all, everyone was full and content. The price was reasonable too. Will definitely be celebrating another event here in the near future.

Don't waste your money

By jack S |

Not sure how this place gets good reviews. There is pretty much nothing great here and several reason why I will never go back. First the location is hard to get to. you have to drive through a very busy intersection since there is only 1 way into the parking lot. There is only valet parking available. I hate valetting. The valets are usually sweaty and smelly and I don't trust them with my car. Such an inconvienence. Inside the resturant is in need of a refresh. It's not just old and out dateed. It has a lot of cosmetic issues and the air conditions was not working well. They had setup portable ac units that looked horrible. We were seated in a some, cramped side room. Not the main dining area. The ventalation system was not up to the task of removing all the smoke created by cooking. We sat down and took our time to look over the drink menu and order a drink. Their beer selection is very limited with nothing to my liking. We ordered a couple of cocktails they were ok but they each cost $15. I can buy a bottle for around that price. After the drinks arrived we ordered our entres. It took the cook over 30 minutes to actually start cooking. We had a soup and salad but the entre took about 45 minutes to be served. Way too slow. The cook also did not have a very outgoing personality. He seemed like he didn't really have much enthusiasim for the job. The food was not prepared very well. The vegetables and chicken were not chopped up enough. With cooking preparation is the key and even though the entre took a long time to make it was not made with care. The cost of the meal for 2 people was $152 before tip. This is not a high end place. The food is way overpriced. This meal should have been under $100 including tip.

Awesome restaurant for get together to enjoy Great Japanese Hibachi!!

By Martin A |

Hibachi Cooking tables is the ideal set up for family and social mingling which makes Samurai Restaurant the perfect ambiance ... along with its GREAT menu Combo offers, Sushi Bar and superb Drinks makes it a culinary delight for those who enjoy Japanese food!

Amazingly yummy!

By Karyna C |

The only bad thing I can say is the wait time on weekends or dinner hours. Aside from that, this place is delicious! I love the food have never been disappointed! It's a must! Even with small children (like mine) this place is extremely enjoyable for them as well. Chefs are extremely entertaining!

They have a great restaurant bar where you can have drinks and sushi while you wait. The bar staff is very friendly and it has a great atmosphere

Always fun and great eating!

By Gimena B |

We go for the food, but the kids go for the show [and the food]! The waiting can be quite long on the weekends but it’s worth it. We go to the bar area and have some Sushi Rolls and order something to drink, to wait for the buzzer to sound. The portions are large, so sharing is a good option. We had the Land & Sea (Scallops and Filet), Hibachi Chicken Rice (delicious) and also ordered the Splash & Meadow (Steak & Shrimps). A must is their Onion Soup (very light) with mushrooms and their salad is awesome! If you like warm Sake... go for it. Really good for the price, too!

Good sashimi

By Moniatis |

It has been at least 3 years since I last visited Samurai. I am glad I did. The sashimi was excellent - very fresh and large pieces. The choice is rather limited, but the fish is excellent. The vegetables tempura was also excellent.

Great food preparation

By santiagozamudio |

Food is great and fresh. Having your own cook do it in front of you with such expertise, is worth the experience. I had a problem with an employee at the bar, (attitude problem-his), but other than a long wait, the rest was great. Would I go there again? Sure. It's not an every day restaurant and it's pricy.

Teppanyaki fun

By Winnie |

Food was good not great, cold water lobster was the big hit. The pink shrimp sauce is always a winner, and ginger sauce is good as well. I would like to see some broccoli or carrots something other than lots of onions for vegetables. The chef was entertaining and competent as was our server. Language was a bit of a barrier. Good value for the money you can have lunch the next day.

excelente

By marielen54 |

the food was amazing the music was also amazing and I loved it when gente de zona came in overall the concert was great

My Fav restaurant

By elly0322 |

This is my absolutel favorite place to eat. Yes depending on the day & time you go the wait time can be 2 hours but it is well worth the wait. The staff is always wonderful and very attentive. I suggest the Samurai triple which bring Filet mignon, chicken, and shrimp. Unless you have a party of 8 people you will have to share the hibachi style table with other guests (hopefully none that involve crying children).

Still the best Teppanyaki Cooking

By Margolf53 |

Coral Gables or Bay Harbour (this is on the Bay on 79th street Causeway) Excellent service good atmosphere Excellent food all fresh and cooked at your table- hibachi style. You can also order sushi which it is always fresh. The chef's will make you laugh and entertain you. Make reservations- this is a must!

Excellent Japanese restaurant

By omarfernandz |

Strongly recommended. They cook just in front of you, with chefs skilled in the teppanyaki cooking tradition, to the delight of diners and their appetites. Best lobsters you can have. Excellent sushi and Teriyaki beef.

Same routine different day. Food is never changed!

By Susan H |

The food is good, the chef's routines are very routine and mundane. The rooms are not adequately air conditioned and are very hot. The need to add more vegetable to there meals. Zucchini and onions not enough. Unless you get there by 5:30 for dinner you will wait at least an hour. For average food an hour is too long. No reservations!

Horrible

By Danae34285 |

Horrible, I order fried rice for take out and the was not cooked properly and wind up throwing away. The lady that took my order named Maria was In such a hurry she hinged up on me. I am so upset that a place where I have all my grandchildren's birthday could be so careless.

Very disappointed!! Long time customer not anymore

By Day P |

Let me start by saying that Samurai used to be my favorite japanese steak house restaurant but after tonight not anymore. I have been coming to Samurai for 7 years however I felt today like if i was in a new restaurant and im not saying this because it was improved or better No! service not so good, chef horrible ( no exciment at all, Very unprofessional "no mushrooms if you order seafood really? Its not about the mushrooms, but if you been a long customer and you know how Samurai was before you will feel the same way. The quality of the food is not good anymore, portions very small. What happened to Samurai? The one I used to love. What a shame it was a good restaurant not anymore tjough. Not going back anymore.

awesome

By Chingolo |

me and my family has a wonderful experience in this restaurant, Monday night we just waited 5 minutes to be seated, our chef was Truc and was an expert , we ordered different food(setak, seafood and chicken and all was good. for dinner, the price is between 17 and 30 , and includes, salad, soup , shrimps etc, , the atmosphere was very nice, for lunch they have prices from 11 to 18 dollars average, and the quality is good too. we shared the table with another family and we had a good time,, they took a complimentary picture to all of us. , something that you have to consider is that the chef start serving food one at a time and is not like a traditional restaurant that serve you the main entrée all at once ex (rice, potato, meat etc) if you want to eat all together, you have to keep the fried rice etc until the rest of the food is done., is worthy to give it a try if this is your first time in a Japanese restaurant.

After Hurricane Irma

By Carlos M |

After having no power for 5 days, and everything returning to "normal," we decide to have a family outing at this restaurant..The food is very tasty and Cooked in front of you.. Pricey but awesome place to eat..

Best Hibachi!

By Luv2Travel_NM |

We visited Samurai while we were in Miami and absolutely LOVED it! Food was delish, service was excellent, and we went early...so there wasn't a wait. We'll definitely be back :)

Be ready to wait an hour to be seated

By Anaelys 'Ana' B |

Long waiting time. They don't accept reservations so all I can suggest is sit by the bar, have a cocktail and something light while you wait. The food itself is good. The chefs interact with little kids and people in general in order to make it entertaining. Cute spot to hold birthday dinners at. I would've given it 5 stars if I hadn't had to wait an hour.

Lunch Specials

By YourHelpfulWendy |

We went to try their lunch specials and let me tell you, they have great deals on those. For a little less than $30 my daughter and I had a fresh and delicious Tepanyaki lunch. We each had a soup, chicken, and rice. The device was extremely goo and they took care of my food allergies. The chef was so much fun. Great place for the entire family.

A big show

By Josebsan |

This is the place to see latin "japanese" chefs performingtricks with knifes. The average trick is to flip food into your mouth. Close to50% of the times they fail. Food is average. Steak, shrimp, lobster stir fried in front of you. Rice waremd in front of you. Great for the kids or adults tghat have never seen it. You have to sit on large tables with strangers, which is not my idea of a dinner.

Personal chef at work

By SandraS2013 |

Love the show that the chefs put on with the knives on while cooking the food in front of you. The meal is cooked on the hot table right in front of you .

Hit or Miss

By Stephanie Rogers de Almeida |

Food is ok but you go there for the show. Your experience depends on who you get as a chef preparing your food. Last time or chef could care less about the show. We had the same experience this time. Our chef barely spent any time doing tricks and spoke to us just to clarify what we ordered. We got there around 6 and it wasn't super busy so there was no excuse. Our waitress was also lack luster in her service. A person at our table had a birthday but no one cared. The table next to us also had a birthday and at least the chef seemed to be having some fun but the people at that table were the ones who created a fun environment. I had the teriyaki steak which was good but they forgot my mom's scallops on her land and sea and had to get it after everyone else's meal was prepared. Soooooooo disappointed again. Two stars only because the food was decent; without that I won't be going there again.

Disappointing Experience.

By Miriam H |

Went to Celebrate my son's 17 birthday and the wait time was 3.5 hours until i just left. My mother got there 05:30 p.m. was told the party of 11 all had to be present to be put on waiting list. at 06:00 p.m. everyone arrived we were told will be ready by 07:15p.m. At 08:00p.m. the manager told us it will be a few minutes because the table that fits 11 are still there and they could not rush them out of dinner. 08:30p.m. we just got tired of waiting while complaining to hostess table was told by a blond hostess is normal to wait 2 to 3 hours. When requested to see manager he never came out and other manager came and said what is the problem and when explain he stated well would you mind waiting, he will find you a table then explain the party of 11 is still there and they cannot ask them to leave but I explain to him but we can wait hours is so ridiculous is unreal so we left to eat elsewhere. Is sad to see such inefficiencies such lack of accommodation for party of 11.

Not consistent

By Andrea C |

We have been coming here for years. The protein portion of the meal keeps getting smaller. Really, $14 for lunch and you get 8 bites of seafood? The rice and vegetables are suppose to fill you up. Service can be scarce (beverages arrived during the main course). Waited a while for refills, boxes, & check. Sauces still are the highlight of the place. A/C not working properly--sign has been on the door for two months.

My Favorite Resturant

By badkia78 |

If I could i would eat here every day. I can never get enough of this place. The atmosphere is welcoming and enjoyable. The sushi and drink are always good and the food and service is the best.

Avoid Samurai Restaurant

By Jaime Diaz |

One of the worst service experiences ever! Food is acceptable, but waiters' service is really really bad. Run away from Maggie, one of the waitresses.

I was not impressed...

By MMJeJona |

The kids wanted to go back and have the hibachi cooking experience so I decided to take them to Samurai Japanese Steakhouse in Pinecrest. I called and found out that they do not accept reservations so we rushed out of the house to get there before 7:00pm on a Saturday night. Upon arrival, I was told not by the friendliest hostess, there was one hour wait and sure enough we were seated one hour later. My wife and kids ordered their Hibachi Shrimp 5 course meal and I got their Filet Mignon option. My beef temperature was requested to be medium but I got medium well. The Hibachi cook was not very amusing although he did perform the volcano act for the kids. The reason for this review is to make you aware that the portions have become very small for the price $25.75 for the Filet and $24.25 for the Shrimp entrees. In fact, when the cook ran out fried rice to fill the last bowl, he proceeded to take rice away from the filled bowls to prepare and serve the last one. Pathetic. I was not impressed.

Best Fried Rice!

By advice4travel |

Samurai is always a crowd favorite and it must be because of that wonderful secret ingredient to all the food, the garlic butter. It's so fun to sit at the hibachi table watching the cook do cool tricks with food like tossing a shrimp and catching it in their hat or making a steaming volcano out of onions. There is nothing bad to say about the food. Everything is fantastic. They are very well known for their fried rice. Always get the fried rice! The soup is delicious. The ginger salad is refreshing. The shrimp sauce is amazing! So is the steak sauce! But that shrimp sauce just goes with everything. Dip the shrimp in it, the chicken, the steak, the mushrooms, the veggies, and whatever is left of the sauce should be poured all over the fried rice. The fried rice alone is fantastic but just add the sauce and wow! Samurai should expand more!

The Birthday Place

Our family tradition includes dinner at Samurai. What a great way to include entertainment with your dinner. We all had more than enough to eat and I brought home a doggie bag!

Great food and great service!

Samurai is a very good Japanese restaurant that serves delightful Japanese treats and excellent service. My favorite is the Chateaubriand with Hitachi rice.Prices, while not cheap, are not extravagant.Nice family ambience.

Best Hibachi Restaurant

By TravelingMomofFour |

I’ve been going there for over 25 years. It’s the most delicious Japense food. My kids request it on their birthdays. This is a great place for a special occasion.

Disappointed with Samurai

By Mark P |

Food and chef was good but our wait time was an hour and a half. VERY slow service. They are short on help, as are a lot of other restaurants, but nobody wants to spend more than 1 1/2 hours for lunch.

Food average - Atmosphere lacking

By mwooduk |

Our first visit here - the food was ok - nothing special. We went because we had a free entree coupon to use up. It would have been extremely pricey without the coupon. The sake was delicious and the food was good. However, we found the overall atmosphere in the restaurant to be lacking - there were a lot of young kids there and a few screaming babies which probably didn't help. We are obviously in the minority as the place was packed and is always packed every time we drive by so for families it's obviously a unique experience. I can't say we would rush to go back.

Japanese Cuisine

By sascha411 |

Went here to get the "in front of you" cooking experiance. You need to get the fried rice. All the food was prepared really nice. Waiting time for table was only 15min. There is complimentary parking. Now, depending on which cook you get, the more fun the show will be. Would recommend comming here, however, their prices are steeper compared to other places I have been.

If you like Benihana this is 20X better

By travel v |

This food is amazing, my family loves it and we order different things every time and has never been disappointing, they just re modeled the restaurant and it has a beautiful interior. Check out the Be the Chef program where you get to cook for the table. This is a teppanaki restaurant, they cook everything in front of you so it is fresh. get the fried rice it is so much better than the steamed. My children do not eat shrimp but here is the only place they will eat it and they love it. If you thought Benihana was good you have to try this it is 10X better

Amazing birthday party!!!

By Rebeca L |

Celebrated my sons 23 birthday. There were 34 guests. The food was amazing as always. But the staff was vey attentive. Justin the manager and all his staff from the bartender to seating hostess and wait staff and chefs were Amazing!! Thanks for everything and making our nite special!

great food and great Service!

By jessicaoc |

I Just went on October 4th with my husband to celebrate our birthdays. We just had to wait for 5 minutes to get to our Hibachi table. It gave us time to get some drinks at the bar ... our Bartender was very courteus and the drinks were great. Having your meal prepared in front of you is great ! I love it ... unfortunatelly when we asked for drinks at the table the waiter took too long to bring them to us so our frozen drinks were totally melted. When requested them to be changed they just added ice and brought them back to us... really dissappointing. I've been going to this place for years and this is the first time that this happens. I am still willing to give it a try again and hope dont get dissappointed next time.

Entertainment

Amazing place. Good culture. Atmosphere energetic. Also good for watching sports and having a great show during commercials. Chefs are very friendly and conversation going. Recommend going here during the weekends. 👍🏻

Talk about a meal with a show.

By Abel R |

One of my favorite Japanese restaurants. Every hibachi chef that I have encountered was super nice, entertaining, and funny. The food is delicious. They have this garlic butter that any food that it touches is like having heaven in your mouth. You can even buy that butter in the restaurant. And don’t forget that yum yum sauce. It’s creamy with a slight tangy. You can’t never have enough yum yum sauce on your plate.

Good Restaurant but Waiting time is big

By pmees1 |

It is really good food prepared in front of you with additional fun from the chef doing nice tricks, all the staff very kind and service overall very good. With all this combination the obvious result is that you need to wait a long time for a table. I was that yesterday with my family (total 7 adults) and we need to wait more than an hour for a table.

AWESOME FOOD!

By Sanii007 |

I absolutely love this place. the food is always fresh and hot. The staff is always very friendly. The food taste amazing. The atmosphere is awesome!!!!

Perfect for a fun date night - with kids!

By MayraCastillo2191 |

This is a place you can enjoy with your SO or with your children. We have gone alone as well as with the kids and the experience is always great. This isn’t a fast dinner so be prepared to be there for over an hour and a half. The have great drinks at the bar, and the sushi is second to none. We love coming here!

Great lunch outing

By Jolie P |

The food is consistently good. It is a great outing and you're always entertained. It can be quite busy over the weekend so be patient! You always know what you're getting , meat and veggies are yummy. Great service, consistent quality food.

Japanese-style cuisine

By Larry S |

Japanese-style restaurant with hibaci presentation of food cooked at the table. The presentation is noisy and the tables are shared, making conversation difficult. You order the main dish and a number of courses come with it. The portions are generous except for the main dish you order. The service is attentive and the staff is friendly and helpful. When you drive in, it looks like you have to valet park but there is self parking around the side and in back.

Beware

By Luly M |

All was good during my daughter's birthday celebration with six of her best friends until the waitress changed the tip amount on her own. We selected 18% and she apparently changed it to 22%. Didn't break my bank, but I found it very disrespectful and untrusting. I was appalled after my wife viewed the receipt in the car, she noticed the change that was made. We did enjoy the food and now we have to be extra cautious. Maybe it was just that waitress. We will definitely point her out if we go again. Its a shame that one employee can tarnish the experience like that.

No parking, no valet, towed car from TJ MAX parking lot

By Jaison C |

Great food and service. But no parking or valet. Several cars are towed from TJ MAX parking lot. It destroys all the the fun and wonderful experience at the restaurant. cost to retrieve the car from South Miami is $101. Great business for the towing company and the security guard calling the tow company empty parking lot. Samurai Restaurant should make arrangement to have enough parking space care more about their customer experience.

Please don't go

By Stephane P |

The tip should just be zero. The bar tender is so agressive that it could nearly be funny (is it a candid camera ?... no it was real). If you have allergies they serve you what you can't eat (without telling) - and if you can't eat shrimp you still have to pay for it but the rice (yes the rice) is an extra cost. My salmon arrived 10 minutes after they finished cooking for all the table and it was cold (and not rare of course as I asked to have it rare). The other people were finishing their desert when I had my salmon. 2 mistakes on the bill and it took 15 minutes and 3 interaction to change it. They cook in front of you but there is not entertainment. When I told to the manager what had happened for allergies he told me " it is not part of our policy to respect allergies, you should say that to the corporate (sir if you read me, please note it's part of your job to do it - I'm just a client) . Just go anywhere else !

Good dining Experience

By anne201552017 |

We came for the show and the food, and we were not disappointed. We ordered the hibachi dishes. My husband ordered the hibachi supreme, and I had the grilled hibachi steak & chicken combination. The waitress was busy and not very attentive. Over-all the cooking show and food provided a good dining experience for us.

THE BEST FOOD WE HAD IN MIAMI

By mkljrc |

Excellent ambiance. Had to book up as it was very busy. Superb choice and all cooked in front of you at your table. They played up to the children and kept them entertained. The quality of the fish was very good and fresh. They did not rush us even though they were busy.

Fun Lunch

By billycooley |

I had lunch at Samurai, along with two friends. Several others soon joined in at the grill. We perused the lunch menu and decided on the Lunch Boat with beef, which had a lot of food and was very reasonably priced. Our server and chef were very attentive and friendly. Tho we didn't end up ordering food to be grilled in front of us, some of the other people did, so we still got treated to a show. Our food was delicious, and we all had a great time. I'd definitely go back again.

Good for lunch n dinner

By Kay W |

On vacation and before hitting the Falls mall. We did lunch at Samurai. The drinks were good. The food was delicious. Definitely good for family/solo/ and dates

Very Good Japanese Food

By Margolf53 |

Our family has been coming here since early 1990's. It is table top cooking. Great fresh sushi as well. I recommend when asking for steak to pay the extra 2.00 dollars for the Filet Mignon. Good ambience, great bar. Long lines get there early around 6:00 pm or sooner otherwise it is a 45 to 1 hour wait time. Good Sunday night dinner with family to finish off the weekend. From there you cross the street and you have The falls Shopping Mall with its attractive waterfalls and streams. Happy eating.

Worth the wait!

By DeMo-JR |

Came here for my birthday- nearly 1 hour wait on a Thursday night but killed some time at the nice bar near the entrance. Food was very good and consistent with the Benihana chain. Atmosphere is lively!

Nice for something different!

By ARodriguezP |

Was there last night to celebrate my son's birthday, the wait to be seated was not as long as i expected for a busy night, Steve our chef at the hibachi table was quite entertaining and seemed to enjoy his job, food was good(most importantly my son liked it!) and the atmosphere was jovial. I also enjoyed trying one of their sweet sakes from the ample selection they offered, overall it was a great choice for our special occasion!

Talking about a bad samurai day !!!! :(

By Cari1221 |

Well let’s see ... - Hair on my rice - Shrimp not clean - My eye got burned with grease from the samurai Cheft - Our samurai not in the mood for the cooking / show - Over priced food $50 por person - No parking in less you valet the car Not going back

The Samurai chefs are always great entertainment for all ages. It has become a family tradition especially when the grandchildren visit. Never a disappointing lunch or dinner. The staff is also excellent. Saturday and Sunday evening is very busy, so go early on these nights and have patients as the wait(maybe 25 minutes or so) is worth the wait. Reservations are not accepted(but do check, especially if your group is large). Free valet parking when I went last week.

Love this place

Been there for my birthday and my sister's birthday. Really the food is delicious and a show to go with it.

Terrible white wine selection, service is a little slow at the begging

By Jose O |

In my view the white wine selection is very poor. In other words: Terrible white wine selection, service is a little slow at the begging. Specially the Sauvignon Blank should always be from Marlboro, New Zealand but never be from California nor Chile. In my opining Wine menu should be improved at Samurai

THE BEST

Sunday Dinner, Celebrating New Truck

By Maria |

Miami, Benihana is a sentimental location for me. My father use to bring me there for every birthday, I am 53 years old and even much more close to my heart, since he has passed. It's a shame, that it's the only successful restaurant in North Bay Village, but it's so run down, every area of restaurant is nasty. Paint chipping, mold, built up grease on hibachi. I could see this location getting shut down and recieve violations. The service was not great, but the visuals, took the cake.

Private cook

By MARIO J T |

Samurai is an unusual kind of restaurant. Imagine sitting at a table and having your own cook make your meal right in front of you at your choice and will while you sip your favorite beer and watch the whole process?! Well that's what makes Samurai unique. Besides, cooks are trained to juggle with the food while they cook it in such a skillful way that amazes diners and completes the whole package

Graduation Dinner

A good place to eat with friends and family. Nice place. The Chef's creative . Steak, meat, soup, Rice, ice cream. Everything good place to celebrate.

Ordered takeout through Postmates- order was not ready until an hour after the time I was told it would be ready.

This is a communal dining restaurant. They cook using hibachi cooktops. The food is good and since the cooks are cooking right at your table - they do tricks and making the sit down dining experience unique. Where they falll wayyyy short is their curbside or takeout service. The way they treat you if you order takeout is like you are a bother. They make you wait for your food which by the time you get it and get it home it’s cold. I have had dinner there to celebrate a family event , the hibachi cooked chicken / shrimp/ steak/ and lobster is delicious! They do not facilitate customers coming in to pick up their order. If you order through Postmates your order is not guaranteed to be ready anywhere near the time the tell you. If you request a refund , as I did, they won’t give it to you. I think since you the customer is not sitting down and having the hibachi experience and therefore not spending as much money - you don’t get treated with respect. It’s like takeout is a bother . The staff if at the takeout counter makes no effort to help curbside or takeout customers get their order. One staff member told me I would be better off getting a refund because he could not tell me when my order would be ready. I personally will never go back there. I believe all customers are important to any business surviving so the takeout customer should get the same top notch service as the customer that came in to sit down And have dinner.

Japanese style

I liked the Japanese concept of cooking you at your table. The waiter and the cook great attention and friendliness. Food with a delicious taste and on point. Drinks, especially excellent cocktails. Definitely a place to come back. I liked the Japanese concept of cooking at your table. The waiter and the cook great attention and kindness. The food with a delicious flavor and at its point. Excuse me!

We arrived here for lunch and were immediately seated with another group of people. We waited about 25 min or so for the chef to come to our grill. Our waiter was nice but forgetful as we had to remind he several times of drinks we had ordered. Once we received our drinks, mine had sugar ants in it. I pointed this out to my waiter and he apologized and said he will bring me a new one. The second one he brought me was fine and this one looked better and creamy. Once the cook started his show and was giving the food to each person it pertained to, he got it wrong a few times. The additional orders we had placed also took really long to come out and they were appetizers. I'm not sure why they had so many hiccups here during the time we arrived for lunch. They had only been open for 30 minutes. We have eaten here before and if this would have been the first time we probably wouldn't go back but because we have we know the food is good and one can enjoy themselves with the chef and the cooking show. I do recommend the dinner menu as it brings more food. We enjoy the samurai triple filet mignon, chicken breast and hibachi shrimp grilled with lemon and butter. This is a 5 course meal and it comes with an onion soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, vegetables, dipping sauces, steamed white rice or you can upgrade to chicken fried rice for an additional fee and hit japanese hot green tea. We have also ordered the filet mignon, chicken breast and hibachi shrimp separately as individual dinners.

Deliciously Perfect

Saturday, April 6th, 2024 party of 2 date night for 8pm dinner $142.67 w/o tip Private parking lot with complimentary valet parking (DO NOT PARK ON THE NEXT DOOR SHOPPING CENTER PARKING-THEY WILL TOW TOUR VEHICLE) Immediately greeted and seated (this was not the case during the weekend of March 23, 2024 which had a 45 min wait) they do not do reservations We ordered the five course filet mignon and five course Samurai Triple with a side of 10 extra shrimps, 2 hibachi chicken rices, 1 whiskey sour with Jonny Walker black and a soda. Our chef Noel was perfection. All the food and drinks were flawless, delicious, and perfectly cooked/presented during entertainment with their classic heart shaped rice, onion tower volcano, shrimp popping. This is my husband’s favorite restaurant since he was a child. We hadn’t been here since 7-8 years because we moved an hour away, we wanted to come for his birthday last month but weren’t waiting 45 mins so we came this month for date night and were highly satisfied with all aspects. We even had left overs we took home. We’ll be back for someone’s birthday before the end of 2024. Bravo Samurai chefs, crew, and management. We are pleased to know you’re still around in Miami so you’re doing something right to still be in business after all these decades and during these last few difficult years in the world.

Birthday celebration!

By dunkla |

Great place to celebrate your birthday! Bring your $30 off birthday certificate and enjoy free entree. But you gotta bring a friend or family member to celebrate with you. Great place for kids, join the Kabuki Kids Club and enjoy special treatment and menu. I had the Collossal shrimps and they wete collassal! I couldn't finish them! No biggie, had them for lunch the next day with their awesome fried rice. Dinner and a show can't beat it for price. Enjoy an awesome mango saketini (drink it slow) or a Prickly pear Margarita while you wait, and some of their delicious sushi. Loved it! If cooking is your thing, be a Samurai chef for the day and see if you can handle the hibachi grill! Ask about Be the Chef package, or if you want to learn how to make sushi and make your own california rolls, sign up for one of their classes. You eat what you make!

Great Food ONE TIME ONLY

By FoodLover7000 |

We were a party of six and came to this restaurant as one party member had a birthday promotion. We ate at the hibachi cooking area. I personally do not like the fact that the tables hold up to 8 people and the employees try to fit all 8 in a table. I understand that filling the tables are good for the buisness, but the tables are not big enough for 8 people. The food was great and is cooked all in front of you. I ordered the Hibachi Salmon with Avocado tarter sauce. The chef cooked the salmon perfectly and it tasted great. However, I asked for the avocado tarter sauce on the side as I do not like avocado. Our server was great as she kept all our drinks full. The price for the hibachi items are a bit high, ranging from $20-$35 a meal per person ,but you do leave full. You want to get there at a good time or a little before you begin to get hungry as this place gets packed. And make sure your whole party is there or else they won't seat you. Also, make sure that eating dinner at the hibachi cooking area is the last thing for your day, as you leave smelling like food. My one and only complaint is how crammed the table can be. If your party is 8, then you are good as you know the people. If you're not, then prepare yourself as you will be seating next to some random person and you will be getting very close to them (theirs no elbow room, plates touch each other, etc.) . I recommend this restaurant for a one time experience. I personally do not find the price to be worth the crammed seating, the smelling like food after, and the long waiting time.

Great customer service!!

By Derriv |

This place went above my expectations. The best service & I've been to 4 different sushi restaurants this month across south Florida. Server Josephine was the best & manager Nancy is one of a kind. Very friendly & professional staff, two of them had the patience to show me how to use the chop sticks. Family oriented but if your by your self don't be afraid to go to the sushi bar . P.s. Check your bill, server may have got it mixed up with another table.

Fairly Disappointed

By Shaynet R |

Went on family dinner and we were so excited to see a chef cooking for us. Unfortunately the chef wasn't as interactive as we thought...our table was mainly in silence watching him cook...he didn't show and tricks like the ones I had seen on you tube. As I looked around i saw the same thing with the other tables. Guess we picked a day that the chefs were not in the mood to show off. It wasn't worth the 2.5 hour wait. The rice was flavorless and what baffled me even more is the fact that we waited so long and when walking to our table there was an entire section that was empty. They need to learn how to properly staff the restaurant in order to reduce the long wait time. The food wasn't worth the 200.00 we spent for a party of 4. I had a better time at Aoiki...similar concept better show and food.
