Great watering hole on 6th street in downtown Austin, TX. It's the only bar with live country music.

Small venue to listen to live southern rock/country music. Good seats. Good service. No one gets crazy, just having a good time.

I wandered into this bar looking for a bite to eat. They didn't have food, except popcorn, but I stayed for a few drinks anyway. It felt like Cheers, everyone knew everyone's name, and they made me feel welcome. I'll definitely stop by again when I'm back in town.

In Austin on business and visited E.6th Street, looking for a bar with live music. Happened upon San Jac Saloon and saw that a band was setting up on the stage. So, spent a great evening listening to Sister Sage, who played a wide range of music. Friendly crowd in the bar, and the bar staff were really responsive. Definitely recommend this venue.

We stopped at the San Jac Saloon mid-day while we were waiting for another place to open. For the middle of the afternoon, there were a lot of people in there- the place was almost full, and there was only one bartender working. I ordered a beer and it took quite a while to get to me, which I completely understood. When I went to pay my bill, the bartender told me it was on the house because it took so long for me to get it. That was a very great surprise! There was local talent in there singing some country songs with his acoustic, and it was just a really pleasant feel. I would recommend this saloon to anyone looking for a nice place to chill for a while.

This place has a stage that opens onto the street and from our perch we saw what looked like a homeless lady enjoying the live music outside. The guy that was singing when we were there had an excellent voice, he sang Tennessee Whisky and 5 o'clock somewhere per my request and sang them both excellently, what a talent (they sing for tips) The bar staff were very friendly, the beer was good. HaHa, I am a middle aged English woman and our quiet visit was livened up by two young men who had separated from their stag weekend and came and sat next to me. He took a liking to me and talked at me for several minutes (he didn’t give me the opportunity to say anything back as he had such a lot to say), he was breathing alcohol into my face as he slurred his story at me, with the music in the background, I couldn’t understand a word of what he was saying. He was harmless but this was the first time I have had to make an escape from a bar! The drunk aside, we really enjoyed this visit, friendly place with great music, who could ask for more.

We loved this bar it was one of the few bars that played live country music. The bar staff was very friendly we spent 3 of the 5 nights we was in Austin in this bar we recommend to give it a go.

Spent a good bit of our first ever visit to Austin in here on a Friday night. Not real big but comfortable. Enjoyed listening to the Nine Pound Hammers with a mix of country and rock. Nice place not overrun with the hordes and masses trolling up and down 6th street. Come kick back, enjoy a cold one and listen to some good music. Recommended by my brother-in-law who has frequented 6th Street a number of times.

This small, intimate bar became our "home away from home" during our trip. There is always a live band playing at night, and they usually play requests. The best part of our experience was the staff. I must say Mike, Matt, Montana and Sunny will always be a major part of our first trip to Austin. I have never been out of town and felt this comfortable in a bar. The drinks and atmosphere are great. Don't forget to try the popcorn with the seasoning. ;)

We went here after a conference for a drink. Its impeccably clean and well appointed. That’s nice but then Dublin Johnny the bartender starts chatting it up and we are dying. He is passionate, funny and animated. Customer focused but it his Irish way. We had such a wonderful time in his presence. Drinks were made perfectly. Atmosphere wonderful but Johnny just makes the experience that much better!

Live music every day and good bevy’s. Pop corn to snack on as well. Oh and the bartenders are really nice and friendly which is a plus.

Excellent live music, cheap drinks, and a fun atmosphere. What’s not to love? Also a plus that this place is co-owned by Jared Padalecki!

First stop on our 6th Street experience. Bar was pretty good, drinks reasonably priced. The staff were great and pretty cool. Had a live act on when we went in, one of the few before 7.30. He was pretty good and we really enjoyed his music.

We were looking for a small country type bar to have a few beers and listen to country music. This is the place. The bartender, Brian was great. No frills but fun.

We were visiting Austin for the weekend and, after dinner, decided to walk down 6th. The singer was sitting in the open window and he had a great voice. We went in for a drink and to listen. The bartender was nice, the bar seats were full and the place was clean. The whole space is very narrow and there is a loft with chairs and benches. Unless you sit at the front of the loft you cannot see the stage from upstairs - it just wasn't set up very well. A slight rearranging (rebuilding) of the loft space could make it more compelling for people interested in the band. All in all, a lot less crazy than some of the other bars we visited as most of the customers seemed to be adults and not college students.

First time to Austin and this was a cool spot. We popped in, no cover charge on a Thursday night. There were 5 musicians in the band on a tiny stage. Great band. Very cool. Nice bartenders. Casual and fun. (Clean bathrooms 🙂)

Fun Sunday night listening to Sister Sage. Really good country band that had the entire place rocking! Bartenders were fast and drinks were very good. Diverse crowd of all ages. Lots of TV’s with games on as well.

Do people make a bar or does the bar make the people? My friends and I were enjoying dirty 6th street during ROT rally and were looking for maybe one more bar to hang out for the night. My friend and I were debating if we should call it a night or head in. A patron was smoking outside said we should come in since it is a lot of fun. We looked at him like yeah sure buddy and he was like "come on in, first drinks on me". Winner winner, chicken dinner!!!! Buy me a drink is always a nice way to start a conversation. Our new found friend found us inside once he finished his smoke and asked us what we wanted. I told him I wanted a Stella (screw my barley allergy). He came back and said the bar didn't have that. WHAT!?!? Hmmm....okay...Heineken? Nope, no sale. He asked if I could go to the bar with him and I could see what they have that would meet my drinking needs. I finally ended up with a delicious IPA on draft. I don't remember the name which is slightly sad. David Touchton & The Nowhere Band was playing music that night. I talked to the David and found out he plays in South Austin at Giddy Ups. I actually sorta enjoyed his music for a person who is not a fan of country music. Shhhhh don't tell my hubby! Anyway, overall my friends and I enjoyed some dancing, drinking, and laughter at this bar. I will definitely check this place out again in the future.

Good drinks, good service and not bad local entertainment when we were there. Will go back again. Recommend it.

My husband and I happened upon this bar just walking by, but the live band sounded good so we went in. The atmosphere was fun, felt very Texan 😉 The crowd was mixed, older and younger, but everyone just having a good time! The bartenders were entertaining, one of the guys had some real “Cocktail” style tricks! We ended up going back a second night, and were just as happy with the bar as the first night. Another great band, a cool place to sit, listen and people watch.

Ask for Ce Ce! She was terrific and took excellent care of us. Great craft cocktails - my husband loved the old fashioned. And excellent hor's doevres!

My husband and I were in town for the weekend, came across this place and decided to go in. They had live music and the musician was excellent! It was pretty crowded but the atmosphere was fun. The bartenders were busy but efficient and we didn’t wait long at all. They had free popcorn and a ring toss type game that people were having fun playing. All and all we had a great time and stayed for a while listening to the music and watching football. Would definitely go back!

I and a couple of friends spent a few nights in this very lively and entertaining bar. Bar staff were super friendly, drinks measures were very generous compared to the UK that is. Live entertainment, made for a fun night. I was so drunk i couldn't remember leaving or paying my bar tab !! Epic :)

We are first time visitors over the age of 50 but we still had a great time doing our version of bar hopping! We were seeking bands that played rock music and last nights band hit the mark. It was crowded and not many places to sit but still an enjoyable time.

Popped in for happy hour with some friends. Fletcher was awesome and it was great to catch some local country music! The crowd is much more grown up that a lot of what we came across on 6th street, which I can't complain about!

Ever been to a bar where there's good live music and a great selection of beverages? Of course you have. But when the barkeepers really look like they enjoy themselves, throwing glasses and bottles in the air and sing along and dance to the music, then you know and feel you're in a special place. So if in Austin, Texas; go there unless you're a bore and need to eat. Only popcorn on the menue. But who cares! Just pop around the corner on Coopers to buy some amazing BBQ and go back for more! That's what I did. Go there!

A nice bar with a good vibe. Located in a central part of 6th street with easy access to many other places. Came here on Halloween and the staff was friendly and music was good.

Great cold beer, our bartender Brian was very friendly, nice & helpful with info about Austin, he clued us in that the Bat's (bridge) don't show up from Mexico till April & the best month to see them is August, he was a lot of fun

We were drawn into this bar as one of the few places with live country music on 6th Ave East in Austin (which surprised us). The band played covers and were good, but not great. The bar is long and narrow, making it hard to see the band and no room to dance. We sat on the upper floor and watched the football games on the big TVs over the bar. There were people smoking marijuana below us. It was a November night and about 60 degrees outside but we were super hot inside (no A/C or fans), so had to leave after awhile to stay awake and comfortable.

Beautiful bar with efficient service and correct prices for the service. Good atmosphere this Thursday and the band playing famous good country songs was excellent. I recommend for total immersion

Great drinks, talented and fast bartenders and authentic country music! There is also a small dance floor. We went twice on a long weekend visit.

Visited a couple times as the music was always excellent and they have a really beer selection, as we’ll as plenty of whiskeys & gins.

Not very crowded anytime we walked by. Has a live band but was on break a lot. Definitely for an older crowd.

I visited early in the evening during “Free (music) Week,” and had the privilege of listening to Sean Mullin’s country music at this venue. The downstairs saloon is small and intimate with a few TV’s for those that want to keep up with their sports while out and about. Their is a more casual upstairs for later as well. Nice for small groups.

This was such a cool venue. Live music day and night. We always found ourselves back at San Jac each day of our vacation. Every time we came in the bartender, Brian, remembered our drink orders and offered up free popcorn or hotdogs! This place gave us a real home away from home vibe. Such a gem. Can’t wait to come back.

Don’t worry, it looks super crowded, but just step in and head upstairs. It is chill upstairs or in the back. We took the chance and saw a great show by the Carr Sisters. If you can work your way to the front of the mezzanine level you will have the best view of the band without having to deal with the intoxicated young ones downstairs.

San Jac Saloon was just what I needed to experience 6th street! It feels like a saloon the minute you swing open the old fashion western saloon doors. Even though it was a Monday night, it was lively! Wonderful ambiance and live music. This place is a must when you’re in town!

After a long day in airports, we just wanted something close. This restaurant is in the Westin Downtown. Menu is surprisingly diverse. Drink menu had some great options. Price range is decent. We were happy we chose to stay close.

We stopped in around 10pm for drinks and live music. The band downstairs provided good country music. The best part was heading upstairs where we could relax on the comfy couches and enjoy nice acoustic music. Overall, a great experience.

I am a big fan of Jarred Padalecki so I was very excited to visit this bar. It’s very clean and the live music is great. The upstairs is very nice as well. Great place to bar hop at for sure.

Brian was the bartender both times we were in the salon. He was an awesome bartender and quick. He handled the whole bar effortlessly. Would go back next time I’m in Austin. Thank you from WI.

In Austin for a conference and stopped by San Jac's for a drink. Ended up staying hours with the best bartender ever... Dublin Johnny. Great conservationist with that awesome accent and great drinks. Next time in Austin. This will be our first stop.

We visited in the day for a quick drink and a rest bite from the harsh Texas heat! The bar was air conditioned, had really cool live music, cheap drinks and unlimited free popcorn in lots of different flavoured seasonings (cajun, spicy, bbq etc). The bar staff were really friendly too. Would recommend as a great place to chill out and relax listening to great music.

First time visiting a whiskey bar and had a great time. The bartender was friendly and very helpful when I asked him to make me a fruity, whiskey drink. Live music almost every night. Definitely recommend for tourists looking for a friendly lively place.

Loved this place ! Great live music, love the bar setup, great and hardworking staff. Fantastic place, awesome atmosphere and super service. Loved the band that played on April 3rd !

This bar is right on the 6th street strip. It's kind of small, but good beer, and good live music. You'll have fun

My friend and I stopped in here right after opening in the early afternoon. The bartender was super friendly and made me a great drink. We ended up coming back that night when it was busy, because we had such a good time. We’re not much for crowds but it was worth it.

Live music. Bartender was fun. Ice cold beer. Limited selection of beer styles. Mixed drinks were on the small side.

We stopped in here and loved the hang out and the county music. We tried to come back in later the same night and it was a full house.

We were there with my family for a beer, the bartender was very friendly ! helpful for the good places in Austin. We discovered the local beers. We had live music ! very good musician. We recommend this place ++++

The salon doors add to this places authenticity. There was live music when we arrived which was nice. Bar wasn’t crowded when we arrived. Neither the bar where we sat nor the floors appeared to be clean. The bartender didn’t seem to care about any of his customers or running the place. We ordered a Captains and coke and Jack and Ginger. I glanced over and noticed the bartender mixing the Jack with something dark appearing to be coke as opposed to ginger. He told me it was “bartenders ginger ale”. Although I didn’t bother to tell him this I bartended for over 10 years and know better. Instead of fixing it he served that drink. My wife noticed he poured the Captain and Coke from a Captains Morgan bottle, which is odd because it tasted nothing like Captain. Not that Captains is a premium liquor but the knockoffs don’t taste the same. I watched more closely and I sipped my drink and noticed the bartender burying his hand in the ice to “fish-out” a bottle of water then using the same ice for drinks. I’m pretty sure he also used his hand to fill a cup with ice for some guy in a suit. In closing: life is too short and there are way too many bars on this street to settle for a place/bartender who seems to hate bartending and his customers. The only thing I can recommend here is not going

This is listed on TripAdvisor under "Restaurants" but I didn't note that they served food. It is a good spot on 6th Street for drinks and local music. The bar served up free popcorn. Friendly service!

We came here after our concert was cancelled in March. We had a great time. The live music was really good. (took requests and played many songs from the artist of the cancelled concert) The bartender CHRIS was outstanding. His personality and sense of humor made for a great time.

Great live music in this bar where most of the seating is at the bar. The bar tenders are supper. Drink the lemon vodka shots, so good.

We spent an evening here with live music, very nice staff who didn't keep asking if we wanted something else to drink. The prices are normal and you can have a conversation while the music plays.

Monday evening, live music, barman and us three. Good beer, great friends and the artist played our favourite songs.... What more do you need to have a great evening!!!

I found myself back here every night, it was exactly what we were looking for - chilled atmosphere, great live music and friendly bartenders! If you like country music, whiskey and a chilled vibe this is the best stop on 6th.

Nice bar Good atmosphere even though is wasn't too busy Good live music But a very personal decider for me is to have non alcohol beers on offer

we stopped in because we heard the live music and the beer prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was super fun!

Recently visited San Jac Saloon for drinks and had a great time. Live music, awesome service and great drinks!

Authentic Texan bar and music that you must try. Staff were really helpful and wanted to engage in conversation and give hints and tips. Prices reasonable and every time we saw a band, they were really good and kept us in the venue. Really authentic decor and the vibe is really good

A friendly, cheerful bartender, a two-girl band that really rocks and a good selection of draft and bottled beers. Highly recommended!

We were there on a chilly weeknight and it was quiet on 6th street. There was a man with a guitar playing at the San Jac and we needed beers so we headed in. It's a cool country feel with lots of rough wood. The bartenders were friendly and pointed us to the free popcorn at the end of the bar and told us that the chipotle seasoning was the best one. They weren't wrong. We parked ourselves on the balcony which gave us a great view of the musician and a good spot for people watching (as there was a drunk girl's 30th bday crew dancing in front of the stage. Music was good. He took requests and could play almost anything. Felt like Austin.

One guy with a guitar and a great voice, singing great cw covers. Very eclectic crowd, students, a prof and wife?, laid back and fun. Spontaneous swing dancing. . Good times

Fun spot with great live music. Don't miss upper level with comfy seating and more music! Don't expect to order fancy drinks. Keep it simple and have a great time.

In amongst the 6th Street hub of bars and live music, San Jac Saloon (with Jack's Bar upstairs) is a real gem. It's free of the hustlers trying to goad you in with cheap cocktails but filled with genuine hospitality and charm. It's a must-visit place when you go to Austin.

In the heart of 6th Street, very central location. Live bands which were awesome. Small dance floor near stage. Great friendly bar staff. Very small inside, get there early if you want a good seat/position

Walking down 6th Street we heard some great country music. Came inside this small bar and heard the sounds of Broken Duckfeet. Great band! Love this little bar! It's a great place to listen to music and it has a small but adequate dance floor. The bartenders are fast and friendly, making this an even more fun experience!
Awesome fun bar!
We had a group of about 30 of us go to this bar the other night. We actually went twice in the same night - before dinner and then back after! It is small but really fun. The bartenders were nice. The drinks were strong! There was live entertainment, too. The first time there was a solo guy singing and playing guitar and he was great. The second time there was a 4-5 person band and they were good, too. Highly recommended.
