Cute Place

By Diane L |

I just love fish. If you love seafood then try it. At times they can be very busy and you have a wait. The food is good and it is worth trying. Enjoy!

I 'sea' food!!!!

so much food!!!! I like that you get to pick what and how much seafood you want. A good family meal together, entertainment is great. Will go back again.

Great Place for a weekend brunch

By L A |

The Fish Market is a great place to go for a weekend brunch with family or friends. Great fresh seafood abounds and the communal lively environment makes for a great day.

First Timers

By commissionerwfl |

We were in the Long Beach area the day before our Carnival cruise. Upon recommendations from several people, we met friends here for a Sunday night dinner. It's a wonderfully eclectic vibe surrounding the restaurant and an easy place to spend a few minutes roaming. The restaurant itself: I'm glad we were with friends that were familiar with the drill; otherwise I'm not sure we would have ever figured it out! It starts out as 1 line; but then it spins off into multiple lines depending on your desires. We opted for picking out our own seafood from the counter, bag it, carry it to the grill area, and then drop it off for preparation and wait until your pager goes off. There is a fast food counter that is one line. There is a sit down, full service restaurant which appeared to be another line. And there were bathroom lines as well. We did 1 lb is shrimp, 1/2 lb of scallops, and cooked veggies and garlic bread. It was outstanding. Don't be confused that by purchasing directly from the counter means it will be a cheap dinner. It was a great evening, and we'd do it all over again!

Its not bad but not great either

By James A |

The market had only one vendor as far as i could tell and it looks like a series of food trucks. Food trucks are supposed to be cheap but this place was not. Food was pretty good but nothing exceptional and good size portions too

Lunch

Saw the show Man v Food and this little gem was on there. We proceeded to check it out and was not disappointed at all. The hard part is deciding what to get. We stayed safe since there was 4 of us we didn’t want to over order, so we got the shrimp platter for 4 people. A lot of shrimp very tasty. If you like fresh seafood definitely give this place a try we went on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn’t too busy. Next time we are down we will have them cook some fresh fish for us.

Nice folks, fun outdoor atmosphere, seafood just not good.

Read all the great reviews and when we arrived in LA, headed straight for San Pedro (there to see a show) and this place and we were hungry. Ordered up the famous $60 shrimp dinner for 2 and received a steaming hot three-pound pile of greasy potatoes, onions and bell peppers with about 25 small shrimps floating in it. Bummer. We saw people eating grilled fish and that looked pretty good. I’m hoping that their other food offerings are good but, there’s far too many better options out there. I’m thinking that this is mainly a cruise-ship-touristy place. Can’t recommend it.

Pre Princess Cruise Meal

By curlertwirler |

Fun place with beautiful views of the cruise port and other ships, including the USS Iowa (with tours) to eat fresh seafood, prepared there for you after you select your choice of fish/seafood. Your food is grilled or fried and served on parchment lined trays. One order of seasoned red potatoes can easily feed several people. Lots of drinks with several alcohol selections. Musicians walk around and play on this pier that has covered outdoor seating. A must stop here!!

Weak

By Sam B |

The place is very disorganized, the food has no taste, İTS NOT FRESH, the red snapper and pampano were not fresh at all, and over done, shrimp the grilled was average, the fried was ok, overall, waaaaay overpriced, and disappointing, won't go back

Fabulous fishy experience

By David G |

This place is off the usual Longbeach recommended places and not mentioned in recent trip advisor review of the area but we go every time we visit. Visually not the most attractive but join the line to buy your fish, we usually have a mix of scallops, shrimp and squid, add the vegetable option and then take your food to the kitchen hatch. Grab a beer or cocktail and sit on the decking until your pager pings. Then collect the tray of delicious seafood relax and enjoy while watching giant container ships pass by. You can also take a harbour cruise round the port from here which is worth it. I would go midweek lunch to avoid crowds but anytime is a good time.

Not exactly five star

By Mike G |

But the food was good and even mid week there were lots of people. Several restaurants but they seemed similar. When we were there most of the eating spaces were outside.

Not worth the effort

By Louis W |

Not impressive seafood quality for the money paid, vista not good actually opposite reclamed dock habour view, long queue waiting, price tag not attractive or expensive, not live up to what other reviews said in tripadvisor, go somewhere unless no other optons

Excellent, fresh seafood

By Lonny53 |

We were here in June for our grandson's birthday. The place is always packed but the food is always fresh and delicious.

Nostalgic...

By Monic H |

Ate here for the 1st time 18 years ago after my grandmother's funeral. Came back 4 years ago with my husband. Decided to take my team here for a special dinner this week. We all love seafood. They enjoyed the food, the experience and the view. I reminisced on the times I've been here before. This place has a special place in my life. Too bad i dont live closer.

Fresh seafood, simple not gourmet preparation; best to come in "picnic" or "cookout" mode

By sparisoma |

By the waiting lines (on a weekend afternoon especially), it's clearly a popular eating experience among the locals. The freshness of items available seems good, but don't expect high-end cooking or presentation. Or even medium-high. If you're OK with noise and crowds and just want average but quite acceptable seafood and don't expect table service, then it's probably just right. We got lobster tails – a mistake I think, because even at their lower-than-restaurant prices it is too much to pay for the overall level of dining experience you can get there. Best to stick with the simpler, lower-cost, quick-to-prepare items such as "fajita style" shrimp. The buttered garlic bread seems a popular side item, and it is good. Drinks, especially beer, are a bit expensive and like everything else, not served to your table. Finally – in nice weather, the late afternoon view of the harbor (or L.A. hills in the other direction) is nice.

Unreal meal for a decent price right on the water

By Ken L |

A buddy and I went, we got the $30 shrimp platter. I added mussels to it, and it was incredible. Best seafood I have ever had, hands down. We were there September of 2017

FRIDAY LUNCH

By vvelasquez84 |

I have been here before plenty of times but it must be over a year since i had last been. Oh my i will never go again! My shrimp was soggy, mushy (old) the bread was dry and very little butter and soggy ohh man and the fish had no flavor, none we had to drench it with lemon and purchased a bottle of salsa. I will not be going again, ever! It was me plus 4 more people we spent over $60.00 on the shrimp tray and we purchased a red snapper that was $97.00 plus $25.00 for a beer pitcher. (ohh yeah and $2.00 salsa bottle) I much rather go to the Boiling Shrimp or any of the Cajun shrimp places around the city if i am ever craving the above. The bathrooms were nasty, they tables where dirty. I will not be returning.

The food was great

By Grace Naces |

I love the shrimp tray, garlic bread and the grilled crabs! I would bring more friends over next time.

Not a Great experiece

By mxguru |

We drove over 90 miles to try out this fish market which we had heard about. Our first impression: semi controlled pandemonium!! There were some many people there (Saturday) that it was hard to walk. There appeared to be three separate areas to order from with very long lines, so it was very hard to tell where one ended or started. Unless you have been there before and can handle the chaos, it is very hard to know what the heck is going on. We never had a chance to eat because what drove us away was the foul smell of the fish frying!! It was overwhelming. We hope to go back one day during the week and try it again. They surely need some organization

The butter bread is a must

By Vivian Q |

The bread was really good, the shrimps are good, the lobster not that much it was very salty inside, probably presalted before, it made me think it wasn't that fresh. The octopus are good although I would like it to be chopped since I didn't want them fried but well cooked. I ordered the spicy flavor on them and love the tomatoes inside. It is a must visit place each time I come back to Cali.

Somewhat Expensive But An Unforgettable Experience

By Hexelspixels |

The place has become popular over the years and has drawn big crowds especially on the weekends. The TV show has also boosted interest and people from all over the world has to include this on their California itinerary. We visited on a weekend and we spent almost a hundred bucks for just 2 people. We were told that during all the years the prices have doubled. The place can have that 'fiesta' atmosphere especially on weekends as several restaurants peddle their seafood delicacies. Singers and musicians play Mexican music to the crowds, and even birthday parties are celebrated in the market area. Other features of the place are the harbor cruises and whale tours. Visit the seafood market. It is an unforgettable experience. Take lots of photos. For some, it can be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. For others it will be an experience they will want to repeat in the future. However, be warned... prices aren't cheap. Crowds maybe thinner during weekdays. Best time to visit- morning.

Great place to eat sea food

By MrRS-lv-sm |

First time visiting San Pedro, went to visit the USS IOWA. Walking distance from each other, great sea food and michelada. Already looking to see when ill be back

Can you say F R E S H seafood!!!??

By Karey K |

This place was absolutely amazing (and from what I hear...is famous too!). You can select something from the fresh catch of the day and have it prepared for you almost however you want or visit one of the eateries at the Pier. Great food, large servings, laid back environment. Not fancy but GREAT food for the price.

Great Experience !

By Rudy G |

It can be a little overwhelming for a first timer...but well worth the effort ! You have to educate yourself on how things work and which line to get in, once you have it all figured out and order your favorite type of seafood...prepared how you like it....get ready for a real treat...take the whole family and have an experience ! Not for those afraid of crowds or not having the patience to wait....had shrimp..scallops..and orange roughy on a vegetable platter with two garlic breads...fed six of us very comfortably for 110 not including drinks...very fresh and tasty !

Outdoor fresh and fried seafood

By kevinyelp |

This review is for both the fish market and the restaurant. Went on a weekday right before noon on a beautiful weekday. There’s plenty of parking spaces and a close walking distance to the location. All the restaurants next door were open, and the whale watching and boat cruises were opened. The fish market sells both live and fresh seafood. If you enjoy dining on fresh seafood on the spot, you can purchase wild Dungeness crabs and lobsters and have the staff steam them for you! They also carry fresh oysters sold by the dozen. Plenty of fish, but expect to pay above your local supermarket rate. Everyone usually selects for the world-famous shrimp tray when they visit and this meal size is no joke. Depending on their size and hunger level, the two-person shrimp tray portion might feed three to four people. We opted for the simple combo and chips plates, including fried shrimps, fish, calamari, coleslaw, French fries, and two dipping sauces. It wasn’t bad and the outdoor sitting watching the boats pass by, the scent of the ocean, and everyone enjoying their meals and alcohol made this a positive 5-star experience.

Great Seafood at the Port of LA: Instructions Needed--Provided Below

By WellTraveled3 |

We enjoyed our seafood lunch at this restaurant, which is the largest and last one at the end of the pier in San Pedro across fresh from the Port of Los Angeles. We checked out all of the other places on the pier, and they just don't seem as good, and don't seem as popular--even some of the Port of LA workers seem to eat at this restaurant with their families. This restaurant appears to sell more seafood than all of the others, and its seafood market was the largest and appeared to have the freshest fish, probably a function of the high volume. It is a bit confusing, so here are a few tips: One of the most popular offerings is the Shrimp Platter, which is a large platter of shrimp served fajita style with Mexican spices, potatoes, onions, tomatoes and peppers. The combo platter also has some fish and other shellfish with it, but is available only on weekends. The fish on the standard combo platter is tilapia, a farmed fish not local or natively fished here. So, I would highly recommend that you make your own selection of fresh fish from the seafood market and have them cook it for you fajita style as a combo platter with the tomatoes, peppers and onions. You can actually choose your own whole fish--we chose a Red Snapper, which is local, tasty and very fresh and they grilled it for us (you can also have your fish fried if you like). You can also then choose calamari, lobster, other fish filets like halibut or salmon, shellfish like clams, crab or lobster, and have everything cooked together or separately. All you have to do is take your whole fish after it is prepared for cooking by the fish guys to the cooks along with any other fish and shellfish, and they then cook it to order and give you a numbered plastic buzzer to notify you when your fish is ready. If we had it to do over again, we would have bought our Shrimp by the pound as well (you can get more Shrimp this way and less potatoes, onions, peppers, etc. and may be less expensive overall). You can also add some other sides like grilled Mexican corn, garlic bread (which comes standard on the Shrimp Platter), and others. You can order drinks separately while they cook your order and you can find yourselves a nice table (all tables are long picnic this tables-- the while atmosphere is very friendly and fun). The grilled Red Snapper was excellent and the fajita seasoning is very tasty. Remember that when ordering "vegetables" with the order that is just tomatoes, onions and peppers with potatoes. Cooking time for the shrimp platter is only about 10 minutes and a grilled or fried fish cooked to order is only about 20 minutes, but well worth it-some if the freshest seafood you will ever have. Very nice seating area outdoors where you can see all the boats in the port and enjoy your meal and some good music. Have fun and don't hesitate asking questions of the staff--they are all super nice! Driving town to San Pedro via the coast through Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, and Palos Verdes makes a nice outing from LA. Someone said in an earlier review that they will be redeveloping the port area and closing this restaurant (don't ask me when, I don't know) so enjoy it while you can--really a unique fresh seafood experience!

INTERESTING

Walked thru here, tons of people, food looks great but a long wait to get it, it's cooked when you order it, can't get it any fresher than that....Everything is the days catch, lots of beer flowing,

Pretty cool place

By RTR979 |

My family and I ate hear while on vacation and it is a pretty cool place. Nobody in my party got their famous shrimp plate, but I saw a lot of them and it looked tasty. I had the fish sandwich and it was good. Definitely a new and fun place to check out if you are in the area and are looking for something different.

Fresh, unpretentious and delicious!

By Tess B |

My mother and two friends and I went for lunch one Saturday to get fried oysters, which Mom and her friend had had on a weekday several days before. (They loved them so much they wanted to go back.) On the weekday the place was almost deserted; on the Saturday, it was JAMMING. The whole waterside was like Disneyland - families and young couples, local and from who knows where - all enjoying food and fresh air in a carnival-like atmosphere. Inside, we walked through the fish market - amazing. Beautiful freshly-caught fish at more reasonable prices than I'm used to even in the Bay Area. We wanted to sit in a quieter place so we could talk while we ate; the indoor restaurant was miraculously empty, as everyone else was outdoors, but the waitress welcomed us and seated us at a booth next to the windows so we could watch the crowds. We ordered our food and glasses of wine; we felt like the chef had cooked everything especially for us as we were presented with the most beautiful and plentiful seafood plates I have had in a very long time. Our waitress was super. I will not miss going back next time I visit Long Beach.

Amazing Fresh Fish

By BrettR |

My wife and I had dinner here on March 18, 2019. After a few hours of whale watching, we were hungry. After walking around the complex for 10 minutes, we had a pretty good idea of how to order. 3 different areas. One is the Fish Market where you buy the fish then take it over to the cooking area. Another area was for the deep fried area. We finally found the sit down restaurant and the prices were very reasonable. I had the fresh swordfish. It came with a wonderful dinner salad. A fresh basket of bread was also served. Then the plate of fish arrived. The swordfish was tender and tasty. The rice was good and the coleslaw was fresh and good. My wife had the red snapper and she enjoyed her plate of food.

Fish everywhere!

By Cherie C |

We were leaving on a cruise the next morning and we found out about the Fish Market. The place is huge and has a large deck overlooking the waterway. We sat in the restaurant but most people sit out on the deck where the locals congregate. Lots of beer flowing and looked like most people were eating the grilled shrimp platters. Very popular place for the locals.

Nice way to spend an afternoon chowing down

By paul_p051 |

Went on a Friday afternoon and had a great time. Easy walk from our hotel. Plenty of fresh fish options you can pick from and have cooked, or you can go grab a fried platter. The quantity was great for the money. The ceviche is a real star. So is the come slaw. Tangy, but sweet.

Local seafood landmark

By Stefan L |

Pre cruise dinner here was very good. The place is huge. Outside dining or sit in restaurant. Attached market had large varied selection of fish and shell fish. Everything we had was very good.

Worst meal of the vacation

By Erica T |

Very disappointing experience. Based on reviews and tv exposer we expected much more. It is unorganized and unclear of the price of food. No one explained how the market worked. They tried to overcharge us twice. Then the food was disgusting. It was covered in a Cajun spice that was never mentioned until the food was cooked and it was to late. It was so spicy I couldn't even eat my meal. Surly will not return or recommend. Wish we would have just gone somewhere else.

Pricey, amazing lunch experience

By JDMiller_7 |

This place was just as amazing as the pictures they post on their instagram site. We opted to buy our own choices of fish from the market and then have them cooked instead of the predetermined platters. King crab legs, lobster tail, shrimp, octopus, etc...it was several pounds of seafood and was SO GOOD! This little lunch ended up costing a bit over $200. It was expensive, but it was so worth it for this one-time experience. If you love seafood, you'll love this place.

Freshly prepared - but there are two sections - so pay attention

By HeinBloed |

The section we saw was the one where you could get deep-fried dishes like fish and chips. It was good, but we discovered too late the sales outlet where you could find the catch of the day and could move over to the galley who would prepare the fish the style you preferred. We went on a weekday, so it was quite calm. Once before I did it on the weekend. It was just jam-packed. So we could sit outside and enjoy the seagulls who were waiting for us until we finished and might feed them. Later a Mariachi orchestra showed up. So it was somehow fun - even I had better fish and chips before in England.

Clean the shrimp

By JulieBandSteveB |

The good.... A great concept. Many counters to order a variety of food. Lots of great outdoor covered places to sit. Bar with frozen drinks, beer and soda. Staff was friendly and helpful. The bad... Seafood options pick your own and they will grill it. Its expensive by the pound. We did a pound of swordfish, peel and eat shrimp and potatoes. They are all grilled with the same spice so hopefully you will like it. Price with no drinks...57.00. Now that was enough for 2 people. With the seasoning it was messy so have napkins. You can also order from counter with platters. We ordered shrimp, calamari which both came with fries and coleslaw. Both were decent not the best except the coleslaw that was terrible. Those were 10-13.00 so not a bad price. The worst...and why I gave it a poor rating. We paid 57 dollars for fish and shrimp. PLEASE clean those shrimp!! Unless you want to eat the digestive track!! I understand that it doesn't make you I'll but just plain yuck! I tried a few and NONE were clean. I can't, won't go back and also would not recommend

You have to experience at least once!

By cnamador |

If you're a seafood lover you'll be back more than once. I've been to Long Beach, CA twice for work and every time we have gone to eat at San Pedro. Extremely fresh seafood (your choice of however much you want) cooked up with veggies and potatoes served with a giant loaf of garlic bread. Think of a school lunch tray as your plate... so you'll want to share with someone. You'll also want to order a giant michelada made with your choice of beer to wash it down with. This last trip there was May 10th, which is Mother's Day is Latin America, so there was live music including mariachi which made the visit very festive.

GREAT SHRIMP

By kylebaldwin |

Food was awesome. Selection is so great. Great service!!! You have to eat there. The world famous shrimp tray is The real deal!!

Way too busy on the weekends

By Art |

We chose to buy food already prepared, it was a mistake. The best choice is to get seafood from the market and bring them to cook it was very tasty. Price reasonable for seafood. Would recommend to others.

Soon to be gone

By BobandMargie G |

Scheduled for demolition when Ports O Call reinvents itself. It is scheduled to be included in the new format. Another is scheduled to open in the long beach Marina just off 2nd street and PCH

Flavorful

By Carol W |

No wonder there is a line to get into this place. Seafood served your way. Platters that can be shared with a hefty portion for all.

Fresh seafood and good atmosphere

By or_current_resident |

Went here with the parents and waited in line hella long but it was pretty worth it. The seafood is mostly fresh, some is frozen but all of it was delicious. You can pick out seafood to go or to cook right then and there. The garlic bread and seasoning they used for the food was pretty fantastic. The tray of food ended up being ginormous because we ordered the papas and veggies along with our food. Overall really cool experience and would probably go again to take people who have never been. We didn't hang around too long but it would be a good spot to just chill and talk. Parking was free. The gal who helped us at the counter was phenomenal. Overall great. Pretty pricey though so be ready to bust out the card if you don't have cash.

Good Fish Eats

By Debbie K |

First time there. You enter the Fish Market, pick out what you want & pay there. If you have or know to make the time to order, you will be way better off. You can order the sides of potatoes, peppers & onions (grilled). They kind of pushed the grilled bread (was undercooked & limp), as well as bags of cut lemons & hot sauce. From there, you have to ask for directions for cooking (1 station for grilled & 1 other station for fried & beverages). This WAS NOT organized or orderly... at this point, you can also get complimentary lemon slices, cocktail sauce & ketchup - not having to pay for it... once we Finally got our orders called and sat down with a beer - we realized our fried fishes were not on the platter.... so we had to go back to the counter again. It's kind of cafeteria style (indoor & outdoor dining), a Mariachi band, loud & crazy. Lots & lots of locals eat there. If we were going back again - we would be better prepared - but it was hard to navigate & the workers weren't very friendly or helpful. The lady that provided the containers for our leftovers was the most friendly. The place was Highly rated by Food Paradise on TV - but I would say overrated & expensive. The meal with 2 beers cost us $100.

Too many choices, bring a lot of people

By GSI |

Who knew there were so many choices. We needed to bring more people so we could try more entrees. We ordered the combo, calamari, and shrimp cocktail. Enough to feed 3 people. Can't wait to try one of the shrimp plates. Look out! The people next to us ordered the plate for 4 which could easily feed 6-8 people.

Overcrowded!

By RainbowCowboy |

I just had to try this place once due to all the hype. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed. First, this place is way overcrowded. I expected that from the reviews. I was there around 3;30 PM and had to wait around 1.5 hrs to get my food. Second, the price of the seafood was 2-3 times what you would expect to pay from a super market, and they are not as fresh as I would expect from a port. Go to an Asian supermarket and you can get most items for half the price! Third, the food itself was just okay. Not nearly as good as I expected either. They burnt my fish fillets! Oh and you also have to pay for lemon slices. $1.70 for five slices, AND they forgot to give it to me! You also have to pay for the vegetables and garlic bread if you want them to cook your food. I'm glad at least I tried it once and now I know. You can buy your seafood and have them cook for you, which was what I did. You can also order from their menu at another part of the fish market. It was crowded and confusing!

Good, but maybe blown out of proportion

By Caitlin K |

My boyfriend and I made the drive down because we were both feeling homesick for the kind of seafood we had grown up with (Texans, him especially living near the Gulf). He had heard of the Seafood Market through a fisherman's travel blog and we were impressed! They run quite an operation there. The facility is massive and they are perfectly set up for moving large crowds through. We went about getting our meal two different ways. My boyfriend opted for the famous "tray" and waited in a long line to select his fresh fish before delivering it to the cooks. His jumbo shrimp and scallops were spicy and delicious! (And EXPENSIVE!). I opted for the smaller "fast food" counter, which offered a variety of fried seafood plates and seafood appetizers. My meal was good, but just good not great, and I was disappointed to find that they had run out of several menu offerings. Odd for lunchtime on a weekday. My overall impression is that this is a perfectly fine place to visit if you're a fan of the tray, but you can skip it and still find wonderful seafood in the area.

Good Food Great Cruise

By thelibradiva |

The San Pedro Fish Market is just the name but there's so much going on there. They have 2 hour Whale Watching ($25 adults/$15 kids) and 45 minute Harbor cruises ($12 adults) that depart from there. The first Whale Watching cruise depart at 10am and the first Harbor cruise at 11:30am. Parking is free and halfway full about 11am. There's different food vendors from Fried and Grilled Seafood, Beers and Margaritas, Ice Cream and a variety of Candy Apples, and so much more. There's benches to eat at outside as well as seating inside for the open market. There's also restaurants there where you can order and dine in. For those that fall in love with the place there's a banquet facility name Port O Calls that can be rented and sit off the water. It would be great for celebrations. This is very family friendly and a must do when in the area!

Fun Funky Good Fresh Fish, seafood

By Jonathan S |

Huge outdoor covered space of picnic tables on the Port of LA. Not incredibly picturesque but nice enough view. The deal is choose from an incredible assortment of fish and seafood by the pound. Add sides of veggies, potatoes or both. Then take your choices to the prep area where everything is seasoned , cooked on a flat-top and served on paper lined cafeteria trays. Calamari and soups are prepped at next stand. Everything is delicious, a bit rustic and very crowded with locals....I expect on weekends it would be SLAMMED, so stick to week days . Prices are very reasonable. Do choose carefully, some of the product looks fresher that others, you get a good look at the fish cases. There are a number of concessions, most look similar. Good enjoyable experience, just don't expect "dining"...

An absolute must

By Diane G |

The entertainment, food options and drinks make a must for our family. It’s absolutely delicious and you pick what you want, how they are to cook it and it beyond delicious. Plenty of seating and tables. You can easily make it an all day thing with family. The views are pretty and drinks are very well made.

Lunch with with family and friends

By Lyza S |

The food is ok, the place is over crowded. I would say to come early so you can have a table. Good for family.

What a chaos

By AmaniHsiao |

Came on a Saturday which was the worse decision of the trip as it was packed and there isn’t any order to either to purchase the seafood, nor to place the order of the way of cooking, to receive the food or even to find a decent place to sit, after we waited for a while and we decided to leave as we have no idea how and where to start to experience our first trip here however, we experienced the Mexican habitation here in this market, the musical, the happiness and all the family members spending time together during the weekend, that was the upside of the trip.

The Right-Place for Sea-Food-Eaters.

By hassan s |

Over the years I have been to this restaurant several times. Surrounded by San-Pedro sea appetizing ambiance. This is The Right-Place for Sea-Food-Lovers. This is where you are assured of eating sea-food from a fresh wild-catch.

Unplanned Tryout Turned Fabulous Food

By Maria I |

This place knows how to prepare their fish. We ordered our own selection of sea food according to the kind of recommendation received from the sale assistant considering we are just 2 persons. Nevertheless it came out in humongous serving, which we took away. The place was fun and lively. Good atmosphere for family and friends gathering or even random visits like we did. We were stuck in traffic on our way to San Diego and Decided to try out this restaurant since I saw it somewhere in Facebook few months ago. Its worth the try, would recommend this place for seafood lovers. They also offer some beer variety in big cups dipped in cajun powder, looks cool but didn't try. The table next to us vouched it is amazing, We were driving so we don't want to take chances. Overall experience, very good!

Dinner

By spfeismom |

This is the only place I order fish always cooked perfect. Flavorful, salads always crisp with tangy Italian freshly made. Yummy french bread and fresh vegetables hands down best value and we will continue patronize this lovely restaurant. Fanny our waitress is a sweet heart and all the staff is awesome and accomatadating. Can't say enough good things about are seafood spot during lent weeks we are there with the rest of our Mary Star community. Don't change a thing a true gem.

Smells like Trash!

By Vatche |

Trash. Smelly. Nasty. If you’re ready to stand in line for 2 hours to be seated, come here. Otherwise, go to a nice fish restaurant in the city. The CONS: Fish comes from frozen boxes stored in a Reefer Big-Rig in the parking lot. You can see the forklifts continuously brining in pallets of Frozen Shrimp and Frozen Fish. Nothing fresh here. Also, they probably make $100,000+ everyday on the weekends and have 12 Porta Potty’s that STINK!!! You would think they would hire a worker and pay $15 an hour to clean the Porta Potty’s. Disgusting!!! Place smells horrible! Floors and nasty! Save you $$$ and go eat at a real restaurant!

Completely disappointed

I don't even know where to start. We were visiting family in the area, and I had researched this place. I just *knew* I wanted to go there. So, we made the 30 minute trek there late on a Sunday morning. Parking lot was fairly empty, and despite all the construction the place was open. It was a nice sunny morning, not too hot, and the 4 of us entered the place from the southern entrance. Immediately we were hit by a very nasty smell, somewhat of fish, somewhat of sewage. That should have been our first clue. Next we were met by utter confusion. People everywhere in a small indoor space. Lines everywhere with no clue on which went where. I went wanting to pick out my own seafood. Not only could you not see the seafood counter due to the people, there was already a line out the door. I spoke to someone that was getting close to the counter and they said they had been in line for 45 minutes. No thanks. Figured out the line for the "regular" menu, got in it and still stood there for 30 minutes. When we finally got to order, our niece had a cup of clam chowder and a small rice pilaf, sister in law had the shrimp tostata, the Ms had the calamari and chips, and I had the fish and chips. I ordered a dozen oysters because I had never tried the Pacific variety. Total came to a whopping 67.00, with didn't include drinks or a tip. We waited a bit, didn't have any problem finding a place to sit, although I have to tell you there was security everywhere, and 90%+ of the crowd was Hispanic. The crowd didn't bother us, it was the security guards. Anyway, the buzzer for our food went off pretty quickly. The Mrs was away getting us drinks (2 Pacificos, a small sprite and a bottle of water, which was 26 bucks, outrageous again.) The food didn't even look good. The oysters were extremely small (could be the standard for the pacific variety, but they were very small). The tostada was covered with a very unappetizing shrimp ceviche, the cup of soup couldn't have been more than 6oz, the rice pilaf just looked like rice with some peas added. My fish and chips were 3 pathetically thin planks of deeply fried fish. The only thing on the table that looked decent was the calamari and chips. My fish was thin, dry and flavorless. I don't know what kind of fish they used, but it was very thin, tasted "muddy" and again had no flavor. Chips were soggy and limp. The oysters literally had no flavor at all (looking at the bill while eating came to find out the dozen oysters was 24.00). My niece enjoyed her soup and the rice. My sister in law tried 2 bites of her tostada and couldn't eat anymore. After tasting, I could see why. The shrimp had an odd taste, like it had been made several days before hand. The calamari was a little chewy but good. During our visit I saw some of their world famous shrimp trays, as well as other food prepared from the seafood counter. It all looked like big piles of mostly veggies and potatoes all cooked the same way. I didn't try, but it didn't look worth the high prices. A total disappointment. I was looking so forward to it, but it was a big waste of time and money. Don't go!

ghastly seafood tray with a very nasty smell

By Wander13689045215 |

Came on a Saturday which was the worse decision of eating here! Ordered up the famous $130 harbor tray for 3, take out to Crown Plaza Los Angeles Harbor Hotel. We received a steaming hot three-pound pile of greasy potatoes, onions and bell peppers and smelled greasy sausage with about pile of farm raised small shrimps (Farm raised shrimp overpriced) floating in it with like corns, a few of baby octopus, black mussels, only garlic bread and a piece fish fillet is OK to eat, the food doesn't taste good at all. We tried but found it can not to be eaten even we were hungry! We were hit by a very nasty smell from our room after we were opening the tray to eat. smells horrible! We spent two hours ( open the door) to deal with it so we can go sleep. Just say no! Save yourself disappointment and money!

Excellent lunch!

By Fay M |

We only learned about this restaurant from a Mark Wiens video we saw a few days ago, so we decided to drive up from OC and try it for lunch. We arrived early which was a good plan because it appears that the restaurant can be very crowded at times. We loaded up a tray of food with shrimp, scallops, sausage, and one fairly expensive king crab leg ($56 for the leg!), and waited for it to be cooked. It turned out really tasty, with one in our party stating it was the best king crab meat he ever had. It is worth at least one visit, even if one has to drive 40 miles!

Disappointed

By Paulo S |

I had being here with my family and we were very disappointed, the food is medium but for us the service is poor. I have to be honest, there is a lack of commitment of everybody. It is a lot of food, however served on a tray!! For me the food has to be a good presentation!

OMG

By Rosa G |

We saw the Fish Market on one of those Food Network Shows so while we were on vacation in San Pedro we gave the San Pedro Fish Market a try. It is truly a American experience. It can be over whelming when you first walk in. Make sure you have a employee walk you through your order process. It’s like a meat butcher Market but with every kind of fish available to them for the day. Like a buffet you tell the counter help how much of what you want and it is put in a bag. You are asked if you want to add veggies (potatoes, onion, green and red peppers) then what seasoning. It is weighed, you pay, then the bag is handed to you and you take it to the guys that cook it on a hot grill. OMG. Don’t forget to get the garlic bread. We live in northern Utah and we took off on the weekend to go to the San Pedro Fish Market just to eat.

Filthy, bad service, soggy ghastly food.

By Alexis_Fecteau |

Ordered food at the San Pedro Fish market via QR code, after 35 minutes when not yet ready, we found out it was ready at a Long Beach location 35 minutes away in a completely different city on the far end of that city? Who does that? I scan, order, on location and it's sent to another city? What the F? Especially heinous given the incredible extortion level prices for such terrible food that ended up soggy because it sat in a heater for 40 minutes while we got over here. Oh by the way when we got there and retrieved the soggy food they wouldn't even let us sit to eat it because we allegedly ordered it to go. Should give us a full refund for the terrible food, larcenous prices and egregious service. I won't bother discussing the blood curdling karaoke, filthy bathrooms and tables, or prison yard atmosphere.

Old school since 1956

By Creeping_Death_LA |

This place is popular for a reason and it was crowded on a Wednesday afternoon. My mother wanted shrimp but not the bucket load they serve here so I talked her into the small seafood soup bowl which she really enjoyed. The small cup cost $7 and it comes with saltines, lemon slices, and a small cup of hot sauce, enough to get your seafood fix without overindulging.

Not impressed

By J1348 |

We did not not expect a fine dining experience, but still a bit more than what we got. We could not sit outside because there was a singer nearby (maybe belonging to this place, or maybe the place next door) singing too loud and wrong. So we went indoors. The service was quite slow (50min wait for fish tacos) and not really interested to make a good impression. Consider to go to Long Beach instead (+20 mins).

Love love love San Pedro

By Wanderlustemerald |

Take the ferry out into the water with a tour guide, there's dolphin watch ferries but we didn't get to do that. The seafood is delicious and the drinks are yummy too. There's a little market you can shop. I even saw a tarot reader sign somewhere. Live entertainment at least when we were there. There was kareoke!

All seafood, outdoors, with a Mexican ambiance

By rokkap |

This super popular and famous Fish Market has it all: plenty of fresh or prepared seafood, plenty of drinks, large crowds and lines, and a vivid Mexican ambiance with Mariachi music. Go enjoy!

Open During Renovation

By Carla P |

My husband and I were overnighting in San Pedro before a cruise. We walked to the restaurant for lunch. Huge lunch portions of crispy fish and chips. It was delicious, though the area is a little sad during the renovation of the waterfront area.

Sunny afternoon at the Fish Market

By Trinity b |

My husband and I came here for some lunch... and were not disappointed! We had the fish and chips! Generous portions, reasonably priced! The view is AMAZING- you can eat lunch outside next to the water and you get to have a view of the whole harbour! They have pitchers of beer, if you are so inclined, which you can sit and enjoy after lunch! Staff was lovely! Would definitely return and recommend!!

Amazing

By Martin H |

This place has it all. Stopped in here a few hours before my flight left and I was definitely not disappointed. Everything is fresh and it tastes amazing. Cool setting too. I went to the counter and ordered some of my favorites (shrimp, wild red snapper and mussels). Put it all together with some potatoes and vegetables. It was amazing! I would recommend to anyone who loves seafood. You will not be disappointed. This is quite possibly the best seafood place I have ever been to!

Just say no!

By Terry J |

Just say no! Save yourself disappointment and money and just go to Captain D. Parking is a nightmare. Self service. No indoor seating. Small beer in plastic cup $9. Farm raised shrimp overpriced. Water view is of industrial structures, not at all scenic. Honestly the food was no better than Captain D and considerably more expensive.

Good fish at a good price

By Mary Ann M |

I went here for an early dinner with friends/family. I ordered the tilapia plate which I had with glazed carrots and Cole slaw. The fish was very fresh and cooked just right...moist and slightly flakey. My sister had the orange roughy plate and said it was very good. We dined inside. There is a very large/casual area outside overlooking the Harbor. Parking is ample and free.

Amazing food with amazingly over priced drinks

By Kristine V |

We went to San Pedro on a Monday and it was pretty slow. It looks like it gets quite busy on the weekends though. We sat for awhile and had drinks, at one point paying $24 for a pitcher of beer (yikes!), and I saw some crazy looking food being carried by. A whole fish with eyeballs and everything. When it was time to eat I said I'll eat anything since I was with others who had been there many times. Of course they got the fish with eyeballs and it was amazing!! First you pick out your own fish from a large variety including lobster and shrimp. We got tilapia. They clean it for you then you take it on the be cooked. I believe ours was deep fried. I didn't find this out until after we were eating. I was shocked since it was so light and not greasy. It just had a lot of great flavor and so did the huge tray of vegetables that came with it. I think this will be part of our routine when we go to L.A. although we'll definitely find somewhere else along the way to have a few drinks.

Great dinner! Amazing food!

By keegrsmom |

The lines were long but well worth the wait! We had the shrimp tray. It was amazing. Plenty for two people! Perfect location on the water. We were there on a Friday when they had karaoke. Great time!

Tasty

By MyTravels033 |

Interesting location/atmosphere. Sort of a Boardwalk feeling, though a little run down. Took a few minutes to find restaurant. Had I not seen the fish market first looking for it, I may not have stayed. But, glad I did. Fish is market looked great and had no fishy smell. The restaurant is down the hall, and the fish for the meals come from the market - talk about fresh ingredients. Had the 3 combo fish taco. I didn't realize it was going to be fried, but probably best fried seafood ever had. Other ingredients fresh, and great hot sauce. Also got 7 seas soup to go. Delicious!!

Huge Quantity of Consumables

By dnovox |

First visit and it was immediately apparent it would be a learning experience. Chaos and confusion seemed to be the order of the day (a Thursday) as a lot of people were milling about with a dazed look in their eyes. The first thing we learned was skip the “World Famous Shrimp Tray”, it’s for tourists. Start at the fresh fish counter and select your seafood or whole fish. Then have it prepared as you like. You can get your potatoes and veggies, which make up the bulk of the shrimp tray, there. Write off your first visit as an education. If you go back, you should have a better dining experience. Once is enough for me.

Weekend

By Peter M |

The mariachi band that comes around and plays does a wonderful job of keeping me coming back. Waterfront location with affordable shrimp and the insides a little packed so just go ahead and sit on the outside the seagulls are friendly so don't get mad just throw some food on the floor and they with go away a true historical spot to check out.

Good experience

By Gia D |

Casual, fun, family oriented gathering. Get there early as in before 11 as seats are quickly taken. Food is plenty and heaping on trays. Expect to eat family style. You pick your fresh seafood and it is cooked in front of you. Entertainment provided by mariachi bands. Bathrooms could be bigger and better located for the size of the crowd. Definitely a unique experience. Visit the cute shops next door.

Plenty of Seafood

By Majajing |

I visited this place for the first time with my family after seeing this on my FB feed. There were eight of us and we ordered the Super Tray. It's a lot of seafood. The service was quick. The tray came with some bread loafs, some tortilla, and some extra. The food was good but it became too greasy for my taste. I guess that's why they gave you all that bread to soak it up. For eight people, we still had food to bring home after that but no one really ate it afterwards....my family thought it was greasy too.

They have the freshest seafood

By Tom D |

I remembered this place as a kid, and it's been a very long time sense that last time. And it was everything that I remembered. I loved it. You choose what kind of seafood you want. Shrimp? large, medium or small. Whole shrimp or head less or completely peeled. They also have Salmon, Red Snaper, Calamari. And it's all fresh.

Incredible Food!

By blbird1616 |

Nice service and an excellent menu at this fish market that is what the Fisherman's Wharves of San Francisco and Monterey should be. If that's the experience you're looking for, then come to San Pedro. Shellfish or anything else is good!

Another Sunday family funday

By Victor U |

We went here today early in tue morning. This place gets packed so to avoid crowds I go at 10 am. Go to the counter and order what ever type of seafood you want. Take it to the counter and they will cook it and season it for you. Then chow time. And for the following morning you can have seafood for breakfast.

Incredible Food and Great Views

By PowerTrippers |

Incredible place. Pick exactly what you want and have it prepared to your specifications. Or buy one of the many meal options including several different boil options. The food was great and the views of the port were terrific. Watch out for the birds, though.

Best place for seafood

By James D |

I love this place. My third visit and it was a great experience each time. The seafood is always fresh and expertly prepared. Sorry, there is nothing negative to say here.

So so

Pros: easy parking, water views, friendly staff Cons: Fish n chips weren’t very good, not dirty but not clean, overpriced for what we got.

10/10

By Catalina I |

I cannot rave enough about the food, absolutely delicious, we got a bit of everything, and were left speechless, it had a bit of spice but just the right amount! The shrimp cocktail was the best we've have ever had ! Highly recommend 10/10

The busiest place in SAN Pedro- fish, fish and more fish

By HolsWithKids |

You will struggle to get a table here on a Saturday it was packed. The most popular item being the tray of shrimp and garlic bread for 2 for $39. There was a Spanish group doing the rounds keeping the atmosphere upbeat. Even if you don’t eat you must come here for the atmosphere.

Great to the last bite!

By Jesse C |

My fiance showed me a video about this place and I was dying to go. Sea food was fresh and delicious all the way through and cooked to perfection. If your in la and down in long beach go. I promise you won't be disappointed at all!

Great view and good food

By Mark Grillo |

Had some free time and got a bite here. I must say the location is amazing and the views are nice. The food was pretty good for the price it was. Nothing amazing but very fresh. Staff was good but seemed too busy for really talking.

Seafood lover paradise!

By Veedot |

If you like seafood then this is a must visit place for you! This place has many different seafood markets where you choose your raw and some live seafood and they will cook it there for you! I always visit at least 3 different little places there to satisfy all my seafood cravings. I start at the crusty crab for my live crab. They steam them there for you and sell you a mallet for $1.50 each. I also bought fresh baby squid at fish market and crusty crab grilled it for me. Yum! There's a little drink shack that sells your favorite beer, soda AND fresh coconuts!!! This time we also had grilled shark and fried baby octopus. I recommend it grilled with garlic butter! The shrimp scampi is also good and very popular. It is served with potatoes, tomatoes and garlic bread. Cheers!

A Must-Visit if you are around the area

By Joanna M |

Delicious food and ambiance. Every time we visit CA we HAVE to stop by San Pedro Fish Market. They have some boats to tour the bay which are fun during the summer heat. I recommend you get there early at around 10am for like an early lunch if you're going on a Sunday. Every time we go at that time we end up leaving at around 12 and it starts to get crowded at that time. 100% recommend. If you don't know how much to order, the people working there are helpful if you ask for their opinion.

Outdoor dining experience

By catmanlarry |

Fresh seafood market; you choose your fresh seafood, fish, shrimp, crab lobster and they saute it in front of you with onions, peppers, spices and serve it all on a plastic tray you then take out to large outdoor family style tables. A crowd favorite especially on weekends when there are live Mariachis. It remains open during historic Ports O' Call's major remodeling.

Undecided - September 2021

By Kitman |

OK. I just grab a beer on this stop. But I felt it necessary to write this review based on what I experienced and saw. First, get here can be a little tricky if you don’t know the streets. Following the directions in your phone should get here. Plenty of parking is available. There are numerous covered long picnic style tables on the pier. But there may also be lots of people occupying them too. You get a nice view view of the harbor activities and can even see the battleship USS Iowa just a short distance away. So waiting to order, there were two lines. I was just behind a couple who was at the ordering counter. For whatever reason it took nearly 15 minutes before they moved aside for me to order. The other line went through appx 10 people in the same time frame. When I asked the clerk if there was a problem as I just wanted a beer. His reply was I was getting their food! So if I were to rate this place on service alone, this place would get a single star. My beer was fine. Now the food all around me smelled good. What really looked amazing were the “tray” dishes. If you haven’t figured it out from the description, your tray IS your plate. And…depending on which item you order, your tray is full enough for 4-5 people to eat! Unfortunately, I don’t know if items tasted as well they looked and smelled. So my instincts on the food leans toward a better than average rating. So overall, I think it would only be fair to give this place three stars at this time. I definitely want to come back for the food some day.

Fresh seafood

By luvoc11 |

Chose to eat here as it was recommended by our family members during a visit to So Cal. We went on a Sunday and it was a bit of a wait to enter the market. We opted to skip the restaurant option and order from the "cafe". We ordered the seafood platter with assorted seafood including lobster. It came with garlic bread which was okay. Drinks are a bit expensive but we enjoyed the experience as we were serenaded by a mariachi band and we enjoyed watching the boats go by.

What the heck?

By Jason H |

The fish was horribly deep fried with absolutely no seasoning at all. The “Famous Shrimp Platter” was mostly made out of filler food like potatoes. Don’t take the Mexican soda, it is smaller than the led fountain drink and more expensive.

Fresh Seafood

By Russ Lacuata |

Long lines but its worth it. So fresh and so good. They are known for the super tray and the Shrimp tray. You can pick any fish, shrimp and seafoods you want and have it the way you want too. Its a great ambience and atmosphere for groups. Ample seating area, but it could get very busy on weekends.

Walking distance from hotel and pier

By DreaLovesToTravel |

The Fish Market has only outside seating right now due to construction and transitioning. It was a bit chilly outside in December, but that’s no fault of their own. The food was good and within walking distance from the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The current location sits right off the pier so you are able to get some nice pictures.

Not worth a second visit

By CosmosMomLA |

We visited the Battleship Iowa in San Pedro and wanted a place nearby for lunch. I found this place on Yelp. We went on a Wednesday about 1:30 pm so the place was not crowded. We walked around to get an idea of where we would sit and decided we wanted table service. This section was inside and separate from the very large out-door section. There was only one other party in the room. My husband's fish was very good and his entree came with rice and fresh vegetables and a house salad. However, I would not recommend the crab enchiladas-they were very bland. And the bread was not very tasty. Overall it was an interesting place to check out but it's unlikely that we will go back to this place again.

Nice but Not Spectacular

By TomJ56 |

Saw this place via social media share and followed-up on their web site. Attended mid-week and the place was not too busy. There is a fish market where you select fresh sea food from fish to lobster tails. There is an option to add potatoes, vegetables, and their famous garlic bread. I would definitely add these items, they are cooked fajita style and are tasty and generous. The purchased item can be taken to two places, one for grill and one for deep fried. We had lobster tail, giant scallops, and oysters. The scallops and lobster tail were grilled but the lobster was a little firm (at $48 a pound you kind of want it perfect). The oyster were breaded and fried well. The bread large and a good addition to all the sea food. Beverages is another issue. The fry area also has preset menu so even with a sparse crowd, there was a fairly long line and was told I had to wait in that line for drinks (no outside beverages allowed). Luckily, the bar area nearer to the bay had sodas, large about $7 which is okay if you don't need to wait. People are nice and the dinning is very casual. Would definitely go at least once for the experience. Other restaurants along Ports of Call will have similar items, but this is the best know one.

Late lunch to avoid crowds - it was great

By Tim H |

Free parking. Your choice to pick fresh specialty seafood from front counter and cooked to order, use rear counter for traditional fried and boiled favorites, and lastly the restaurant table service. We had fried shrimp, calamari, and fish. Plenty of picnic table seating overlooking the harbour. Good for all ages. Got busy Friday about 3 pm.

Huge

By n w |

I had seen this market on the food channel so I decided I had to stop by and try their shrimp, potatoes and vegetables combo. You order the shrimp from the fish market and then take your order to be prepared by the chefs. They use seasoning that infuses into the shrimp and other delectables. It was a massive order once it was ready. One pound of medium shrimp was plenty for a group of 3 or more. I wish the seasoning could have blended in better with the seafood. It was good but could have been tastier. I do wonder if I had ordered the jumbo shrimp rather than the medium, would it have been better. I did the shrimp with the shells still on them, which means you better be prepared to have lots of napkins to wipe your fingers. I guess you could lick your fingers as it will have lots of flavor on them. The order was so big that I and my friend could not even finish it. There were many people at the market enjoying this and many other seafood entrees. I seen customers with lobster, crab legs, garlic bread, clams, shrimp and fish. You will not leave this place hungry.

The best fresh grilled seafood

By Rosa G |

We had rented a house on Airbnb in San Pedro and the host left a list of places he recommended. The Fish Market was on the list. The market is right on the channel so you can see freight ships from all over the world coming and going. Now about the food. We got the platter. You start at the fish counter where you start requesting fresh raw seafood. You can get 5 scallops or 1/8 of a pound of scallops. They have several types of fish, shrimp, lobster, crab etc. the friendly counter employee bags up your requests and asks is you want potatoes and or veggies. Say yes....French bread...say yes. This is important! You can have your seafood cooked with olive oil and butter or Cajun spice. We forgot to request our preference and we got Cajun. If my family did not like spicy it would have had to go back. It was typical Cajun spices and very good. You can bring your dogs if you eat outside. They have a huge outside area along the channel. They do have clam chowder that was the best we have ever had. Wish we lived closer. If you are in the San Pedro area you must go there. I forgot to add that during the week you can get Maine lobster for $15 each. It is not offered on the weekend.

Best fresh fish

By Hany G |

Ordering the food was confusing. If you wanna order from the combo menu, you order it from a window across the main place, or you can order raw fish and shrimp from the main place, take the order and give it to the place across the main place to cook it for you for free. We got fish and shrimp combo, the fish was grilled and very delicious. The shrimp is seasoned with delicious flavor mixed with potatoes but the shrimp is very small and hard to eat. I recommend choose your own order from the raw fish and shrimp and ask them to cook it for you. You take the tray and eat it on public benches on waterfront.

Wonderful open air spot to share lunch

By Pam O |

Shared a lightly battered shrimp and chips, coleslaw, and delicious sweet corn on the cob. The amazing corn once cooked, is slathered with mayonnaise and then has Parmesan cheese packed into the mayo. Cannot believe how good it is. Friendly service, outside dining, great beers on tap. Beautiful clear day to enjoy the strong sun, gentle breeze, and bustling port.

Fresh but average taste

By p l |

We have gone there a couple of time. We had the platter, fried oyster, calamari, shark, swordfish. The shrimp & fried food are fine, maybe due to the frying oil, but the fish can definitely be seasoned better. The fish are very fresh though.

Definitely a Unique Experience- One and Done for Me

By Sheri H |

First, I will say, I'm not a big seafood eater, other than fried fish or clam strips. Therefore, I wasn't there for a highly desired giant seafood platter. However, I still had to wait in a massively long line for my fried fish (even though I was probably the only one ordering that). The fried fish was very fishy tasting, the onion rings were just meh, the lemonade watered down. Also, it was very expensive. Second, the atmosphere... it was SUPER crowded and noisy. You order your food and then sit in an outdoor seating area. This was also not my type of scene. The water views and mariachi band were nice, but fighting to find a seat for our group of 10 was not fun. Also, it's very dirty and there are birds everywhere. We watched pigeons poop right on some of the seats and tables multiple times, nearly hitting unsuspecting people eating. I can't imagine how many times they poop into someone's food... The lady cleaning would wipe the poop and then wipe down the table top WITH THE SAME RAG!!! Ick, ick, ick!!!! That was beyond gross. I'm sure it happens allllllll day long, too. Needless to say, I will not be going back, and I'm not sure what I'm missing with all the great reviews this place has, but it was NOT for me!

A visit to my cousin led to this place.. The place was a combination of Miami, San Francisco, and Cape Canaveral dockside venue... awesome selection of seafood... many choices... we had the snapper grilled, super tray... mixture of shrimp, squid, scallop, mussels, crabs, lobster, and taters... cooked like fajitas style. And the fresh oysters were delicious. A must if u are just visiting SoCal

Cheep sea food

This is place is market and also you can eat there outside sitting with a lot of people. Sea food is fresh and all kind of veriety. This is not a place to take your girlfriend for nice romantic dinner. No. Just to visit one time ... OK Will see a lot of Mexican people with kids.

Delicious shrimp and fish. I loved the Mexican music and ambiance. Extremely busy on the Sundays but we’ll worth the wait.

Love love love this place! Come hungry!

By Diane A |

This place is outstanding! Mostly outdoor seating but right on the water. It's usually busy, which adds to the ambiance! Great for a family lunch or dinner, bring everyone! And be prepared to get your hands messy. Lastly, don't be on that low carb diet when you come. The garlic bread is over the top! I highly recommend this place. Super fun for all ages!

To good!

So they're two locations. go to the one in Long Beach its smaller and best service I had the taco sampler and it was bomb! i also tried the calamari and holy mole it was amazing.

Fish Market for Supper

By bigjon1784 |

Walked to fish market from our hotel, and was surprised at the size of this market. There are several different restaurants featuring seafood, including red snapper, shrimp, etc. Found that the food wasn't gourmet, but they tried to compensate by giving large amounts of food. We ordered seafood and ribs, the shrimp was not peeled, the ribs where very fatty and overcooked. I was hoping the ribs would compensate for the seafood, as I prefer meats, so my wife ate the shrimp. the shrimp I did try where overcooked as well. The trays where expensive, but you could buy a pitcher of beer to wash the food down for about $16 to $22. That was good. You could sit on picnic tables overlooking the water if you desired, but be warned the seagulls here like the food as well, and came onto the tables. BTW the gulls here are quite large, must be well fed!! You could also order fish and they would cook the whole thing if that's your desire, on a tray over top fries, and garlic bread. Before I forget, we had a plate of oysters with beer, now that was excellent!! and the sauce is spicy, but the oysters where big and well worth it. So something for everyone.

Seafood Fish Market & Restaurant,

By katork |

It took us awhile to get to this restaurant as it is not close to the bus system, but it was worth it. They have a market to buy fresh, outside restaurant, outside drink area with alot of picnic tables. Inside is a sit down restaurant with very slow service. I think the cooks were too busy with the orders that were going outside. Food: Best clam chowder! We used uber to get back to the bus... Looking at how large this place is, it must be crazy on weekends and holidays.

Fresh Fish Yummy!

When I visit my Dad at Thxgvg we always go to the Fish Market. Always have swordfish dinner..YUMMY!!! My Dad goes there every Thursday with some pals and the server Francesca is so sweet, she calls my Dad, Dad! I didn't know I had a sister. It is a nice place, clean and they know how to cook the fish. Parking has never been a problem at POC. Go and ENJOY!!!

A dirty zoo

By NinaPintaStaMaria |

This was absolutely gross. I don't know why people like it. We went on Sat at 5:15. There was a 20-minute line to get inside. Once inside, it is a total ZOO! Though the first line gets you inside, you still need to get into another line to order. There are numerous lines - one for the market, one for the place to get your market purchases prepared, one for fried food, two (more?) for prepared food, and multiple others for beverages. There aren't any signs, instructions, or staff to help newcomers. After speaking with two totally rude security guards (no waitstaff was around), we finally found the start of one of the lines to order. While standing in line, we saw food refilled into holding areas. The areas were dirty and the handling of the food was not sanitary. The preparation of the food was also disconcerting. Their "famous" shrimp patter(almost $100!!) is scoopfuls of boiled then fried on the cook-top with pints of butter and seasoning (also with drenched peppers, onions, and potatoes and garlic bread). By the second cooking, the shrimp was WAY over-cooked and tough. The ceviche tasted rancid. In retrospect, given what we saw, I'm shocked and embarrassed that we even ordered it! Once you have your food, you have to go fight for a table to eat at. There are tons of people walking around with their trays and trying to find a spot to sit. In the eating areas, we saw waitstaff wipe down tables with dirty re-used rags over and over. Yuk! I thought the prices were very high, all things considered, as well. I just don't understand how so many people think this is worth it!

Mixed Bag, Not Open Late

By bandit004 |

At near/San Pedro Ports of Call, there are several restaurants there, there is both a fish market there (they'll cook what you get). Be ready to pay mid-range restaurant prices for fresh. There is also a more reasonable, restaurant menu and prices snack bar there too. There are specials too. Also, you get to sit outdoors. Check it out before you order or stay, it may not be your cup of tea. There are other food choices there or near there that offer indoor/outdoor dining with shore views (e.g. the Acapulco is a good alternative). Still, I was glad to see the place. Also, I thought it may be open all night (it seems that way on the youtube videos) but I was disappointed to learn that it all winds down at 10 pm.

Fun dining experience

By TwoRetiredFolk |

Lots of families, seafood on large trays, cold beer and busy. Orders placed at the counter. Helpful staff. We had oysters which were very fresh. Clam chowder was ok. Indoor and outdoor seating. Right on the waterway.

Big scam

By Tee K |

So I noticed a year ago when we went to pick out our seafood and meat that they didn’t give us all that we paid for but I thought at that time that maybe I was exaggerating. But no, we went again today and I carefully watched what we bought we bought all kinds of seafood for them to cook I purposely got 5 red snappers filet just when we got our food I noticed that we only got 2 pieces of fish and more potatoes then seafood that we bought over $200 worth. It’s a scammed that’s why they tell us they’ll take it over to have the others cook it. It’s because they take some of what we bought back out. Then we go get drinks and the girl says they are out of pitchers when they clearly had some sitting there then she says we had to buy either small cups for 3.75 per cup or 5.50 for large cup then she says if I buy a big bottle I can put any drink in it so I told her to give me small drinks of soda 5 of them and I asked her to give me a big bottle with soda then she tells me no soda only beer because she was upset that I only got small drinks. Before we left my husband goes back to get my kids more drinks and same girl says the small cups are mediums for 5.50 a cup it’s sad. And the attitude that these people have are ridiculous. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE GETTING THE WHOLE THING IS A SCAM. !!!!!! They are taking peoples hard earned money sad. We’re NEVER going there again.

Best Dungeness crab and shrimps

By Jorge M |

This is definitely a must try when in LA. The food is a bit pricey but it is super delicious. We had the shrimp tray with garlic bread, tortillas and a Dungeness crab. By far, the best thing is the Dungeness crab. Sweet and delicious. You have to try it. You choose your live crab and they cook it for you. The shrimp platter was really good. You just have to make sure you mix it with the garlic juices that are at the bottom of the tray. You also have to buy a hot sauce.

Scary location

By MominOC |

walked in against my better judgement and turned around and left. The area surrounding is mostly abandoned relics. Not a comfortable location safety wise for me.

It's about the experience

By Allyj J |

I had never heard of this eatery before until showed up on my Facebook feed. As a day we decided to take a day trip and go. It did not disappoint. Patience is the key when visiting. We set a time for 1 pm but because of the lines I believe we got inside shortly after 1:30ish. We didn't mind because we came for the experience. Someone in line told us it's better to send someone inside to get a table them order your food. This was the best advice. I can't wait until we go back.

Largest assortment of fresh seafood I have ever seen!

By santadan2014 |

My wife and I ate there just a short time ago, because we had heard so many good things about this place. We were not disappointed!

An experience!

By Ahmed Wagih |

As a family we were super excited to visit this world famous fish market. The line was too too long and the parking was just a nightmare. I guess that was because we went on a weekend. Probably on a week day it would have been better. Because of the crowdness we decided to go directly to the restaurant and not through the open area outside. The food took too long to be served. The taste was very good. Portions were good as well. However, we felt we over paid. Super tray with lobster tail plus an oyster shell appetizer along with four cokes...we paid 230 USD!! If we would have went through the open area and chose the food separately, we could have paid half of this amount. Its an experience but not to be repeated!

A must have for seafood lovers!!

By lovetotravel7112014 |

We walked here from our hotel as we were going n an overnight before our cruise. We wanted seafood so we went to the San Pedro fish market, and it didn’t disappoint! We got 1lb of large fresh shrimp and a large lobster from the fresh fish counter, added the veggies and potatoes and it came to around $80 US. We then took the food to the grill counter and had them grill all of it with lemon and garlic and all I can say is just WOW!! Delicious!! Fresh!! And so Yummy!!

Good seafoods...

By josmanmay |

This a good place if love seafood and the best time to come is around 9-10 am for this place gets crowded. You have so much choices and food is really tasteful but the only thing it's a little bit expensive.

I hope this is the restaurant in Belize

By RJ A |

The distance and drive was on a rough street. The restaurant is located on a hill in a canopy setting overlooking a beautiful scenic view. The food was great. Nice relaxing place for groups.

Family, food and music, what a great time!

By MARTIN R |

Come for the experience, can have long lines, but the food and ambiance is worth it. People are very friendly. It make take a bit to find a table, but we'll worth the wait. Must love seafood. Don't miss it.

Wide variety of seafood

By gaz775 |

This is in a little waterfront type shopping center that is all boarded up except for this place. The menu is very big with the Latino population, but the prices are not cheap. Extremely popular with the Hispanic population, but not much South of the Border flair to the food. I had the sea bass and it was excellent. Nice salad bar as well. The service was very good even though the place was very busy. The big parking lot was jammed full but we found one spot. I would say the best points were the big variety of seafood dishes and the good preparation.

Great atmosphere

By mare723 |

We used to go to Ports O'Call when it was very rustic about 35 years ago, there weren't as many places to eat and you could actually get close to the water and watch the crabs scuttle around. It was great to see how much it has grown! The San Pedro Fish Market & restaurant is great, you could get in line to buy fish by the pound and have them prepare it or you can get in the other lines where they have certain plates available. It is crowded, noisy, and there's plenty of great food! After chatting with a few people in a couple of lines, we decided on a line that had a little bit of everything. We waited in line, got a small seafood plate and a nice sized tilapia (mojarra) we had micheladas and pina coladas. We managed to find a table to share with a nice couple. Great opportunity to meet new people! When we were done eating we took a short 45 minute harbor cruise. Best Saturday with the family!!!

Not as expected

By marmarfrs |

We had our fish grilled and tasted flat. We also had another tray with the shrimp/scallpos/squid and octopus and it was just okay. Not sure if we did note specify seasoning when we ordered. Industrial side of town. It was just okay.

The seafood couldn't be fresher unless you caught it yourself.

By Cliff N |

This is a really fun place to eat. Lots of folks eat here after their L.A. Harbor cruise, but we came for the great seafood. We had the featured dish at the San Pedro seafood market, the sprimp platter with potatoes, peppers, and onions. The dish is definitely spicy and for the people who want it hotter, you get your own bottle of hot sauce. Be prepared to have to wait in line, but it was not too bad when we visited(ordered, got the food and found a table in about 30 minutes). Great vibe, friendly people and a fiesta feel.

Disappointing

By Dibbbkk |

Ordered from the fast food section. The oil that cooked the fish was old, resulting in an orange colour and funny tasting fish. Fries were cold and soggy. Surprised that a fish & chip place cannot get chips right Lovely atmosphere though on the water

Awesome experience

By londamor |

The selection is amazing. I have never had so many fresh choices of seafood in my 40+years. The people were super helpful and customer service friendly. You are able to create your own meal to your satisfaction.. The seafood is NOT inexpensive, but sooooo worth the experience and super yummy. A must try for all when traveling to the LA area.

Nice but Overhyped

By Summerasalifestyle |

Iconic & historical. Nice place. Big, crowded and loud. Outdoor seating on harbor, mariachi music. Order at counter and wait to be buzzed/called when order is ready. Large portions with blah foods.

Good and Fresh Seafood

By Mr P |

I travel to Los Angeles in September and one of my request to my family was to go and eat at this place. I was there 6 year ago and always remember the good taste of their food and the overall experience. I go there for the shrimp only, I am not a big seafood eater. What I noticed this time was how busy it can get... luckily we were there early Sunday (about 11:30 AM)... I also noticed how a bit disorganized this place is, a lot of new comers were lost, didn't know where to start, there were about 5 different lines! one to order what you want to eat, another to give your food to get cooked, another one to buy your drinks, another one to pick up your food, another one for he washrooms... and unfortunately there are NOT signs!!! I notice people standing in the wrong lines, because didn't know where to start. I suggest that if you are going there for the first time by yourself, ask where to get started before you waste your time in the wrong line. Once you do that, the shrimps are really tasty, the beer is cold, the environment is (crazy entertaining), mariachis playing, people walking between aisles with their trays looking for available tables, etc... I find the food is a bit over priced... but if you can experience this once in a while I think is worth it. I don't know when I will be returning to Los Angeles, but when I do... I will go back to this place.

A Surprising Highlight

By Erica D |

I expected a tourist trap - but the food was excellent. The shrimp meal could easily serve 2. The atmosphere, friendly staff, and clean tables were all a plus. The salad - which should have just been aggressively average - was a highlight. Was it the last vegetable I ate for 7 days after boarding a cruise ship? Who can know. But do make this a stop if you're in the area.

Not as seen on TV

By dlw329 |

Went on a Thursday dinner time. Most restaurants and shops were closed. Not crowded or busy at all. We did eat at one restaurant that was opened and got the shrimp platter -- ok but expensive. Walking to the outside eating area (or walking anywhere there) was hazardous as the concrete walkways and patios were very uneven. It was nice though eating on the water.

Really good

By NauticalDreamer3010 |

After strolling around San Pedro on a hot Tuesday morning we headed for the Fish Market. After a refreshingly cold beer we ordered a plate of fish and chips to share. We are sea food snobs and this fish was really fresh and the serving size was plentiful for both of us. With a Mariachi band playing and ships passing by it had a really good atmosphere.

Great spot for lunch...........

By James E |

Very informal atmosphere. You order and collect your tray and find a seat inside or out. For what you pay, the seafood is great and well worth the money. Super lunch here.

Ruined

By Old Pro |

Heaps and heaps of perfectly good seafood ruined bye folks that have no idea on how to prepare Seafood. Overcooked and over spiced served up on a tray with not enough napkins. This place can easily cost you $50 per person. Money better spent elsewhere. I gave it to stars because it's on the waterfront

Fun place for a waterfront experience!

By 401srg |

Went on a Friday night and it was not crowded at all. Had the tray of shrimp, peppers and onions with garlic bread. Delicious! The outside seating area is huge, covered with shade cloth and has long rows of cafeteria style seating. It's right on the water and there is a lot of boat action. We'll be back!

Totally different culinary experience

By NormKeith |

This is such a unique restaurant. First you go to the fish market and pick out what fresh fish you want, one type or several different types. After picking out your fish you take the fish around the corner where it is cooked with your choice of vegetables and potatoes or vegetables only or potatoes only. While the fish is cooking you order your drink and when the fish is cooked take it outside and sit at tables by the water. The wonderful fragrance coming from the cooked fish adds to the "I can't wait to dig into the outrageous mount of delight waiting on the tray". For a totally different culinary experience San Pedro Fish Market and Restaurant in Ports O Call is a must.

A whole cultural experience!

By Michael A |

Get ready for an incredible cultural fresh fish and seafood experience! It's not just a place to eat. It's full of smells and noise and bands and ocean air and a lot of food! It's worth the experience! We definitely recommend the fresh grilled snapper and a shrimp and octopus cocktail!

Awesome Seafood Tray

By Scallophunters |

Being a seafood lover I just had to make a journey to this place after seeing a YT video of the so called "super tray" of seafood. The place itself is a little hidden, being right at the end of the row of eateries, this place is a little hard to find but its worth the perseverance. First you need to order the seafood, or the raw ingredient from the fish counter next door. We went for a reconstruction of the super tray, it consisted of scallops, medium shrimps, lobster, large mussels, potatoes, pepper, and extra king crab legs on top. You then hand over the ingredients to the kitchen where they are ready to cook on large frying plates and you get a choice of Cajun or garlic/butter sauce and it was decided that the main seafood dish is in Cajun and the crab leg in garlic. After about 10 minutes they serve up your food on a foil tray a mountain of your selected seafood, which by the way is expertly cooked and some of the tastiest seafood you will ever have anywhere. The veg in the seafood stayed crunchy throughout the meal and this tells me that it was fresh and of good quality. The seafood that you pick at the counter is good enough, but i would say its possibly not ultra fresh, not to say its bad, but could have been previously frozen. Still, it is cooked perfectly and as fresh as you will likely eat this large volume of seafood anywhere. The place and presentation of food is not pretty, but who cares when you have such a large selection of good quality seafood cooked so expertly, and the Cajun sauce does the seafood great justice. Special mention to the garlic sauce that we had the crab legs in, DIVINE. Completely and absolutely a must if you are in Los Angeles if you are a seafood fan, i have yet to experience seafood this good at this volume and at such a reasonable price, any where else.

Mostly outdoor eating

By KarneBH |

Being from a landlocked state, I found this whole establishment fascinating. And I can see how if it had been summer and not slightly chilly outside I would have liked this place even more. And, there’s a bunch of construction around it right now. So there’s 3 parts to this place: market and grill, fast food and a sit down restaurant. To be honest, I liked it so much that I went twice in one day. A lunch and a dinner. For lunch I went to the fast food type counter. We shared a shrimp plate for 2. It was about $40. It came with a huge pile of shrimp, mixed with green peppers, onions, tomatoes and red potatoes with Cajun seasoning. You’re also given a large piece of garlic bread (like a mini loaf) and a bottle of hot sauce. It was very good. We ate outside by the water sitting in the sun. It was still a little chilly. We went back for dinner. This time to the market, where you pick what you want and then walk it across the hall to the grill where they prepare it. I was bummed because they were out of orange roughy. Instead I got a giant king crab leg and 1/2 pound of large scallops. My husband got shrimp. This time we did just garlic butter, no Cajun. Yum. It was delicious. I bought a pina colada at one of the bars and although it was pricey, it was good ($24 for a pina colada and large angry orchard). We sat inside this time near the grill. It was still cold as even inside is kind of outside, there are open doors to the market and the harbor. I can’t fault the food though. It was very good and at dinner there was a large mix of families and singles and couples. I will definitely go back if I have the opportunity. Sorry I forgot to mention how nice the staff were! Everyone we talked to was wonderful and helpful!

Good Food!

By PlumberGreg |

Great food in a cafeteria style setting, don't let it scare you off, the food is really good. Great selection also.

Shrimp!

By TIANNA M |

This place is a must. I try to go at least once a month. I usually go early afternoon during the week. It's a smaller crowed but not too deserted. If you go on a weekend. Be prepared. Long lines & more long lines. All kinds of people, some nice, some mean, some you're not so sure of. Be prepared to sit next to random people and fight for a spot. Over all I love this place. The food is great. The beer is amazing. They is a variety of food & drinks. The music makes everything come together. Great place to hang out with a small or large group. Great place for family & friends.

Great seafood

By Robert W |

I was staying nearby and reviewed all these great comments. Overall OK place. Food comes quick and it is pleasure to observe the prep work. Taste is ok, but surely not so extraordinary as some folks state. Prices are also steep for the quanity of seafood you get (after you discount garlic bread and 2/3 of the plate full with veggies). Will I come again: Negative

Dining room offers a good casual dining venue

By Donnag |

We tried the dining room for lunch on 2 occasions while we were in San Pedro pre cruise. The fish is very fresh, and the salads and vegetables offered large servings. Service is good and quick, too. I can't eat spicy food so I had to send my broiled snapper back because it was covered in red cayenne (?) pepper, and our server handled this with no problem. The second time we went back I know to order my meal without seasoning. We'd definitely go back for fresh food and good service.

Nice but disappointed.

By Enzo S |

We decided to take a trip to Los Angeles and visit the Famous San Pedro Fish Market (as seen on The Travel Channel Seafood Paradise) for lunch. As we entered the courtyard, there were no direction as to where to start. Being from out of town it would have been nice to have a hostess greeting people and giving direction on where to start. As we entered the building there was a counter where it appeared you purchased drinks like soda and water. Still no one to ask where to start or how the process works. We walked around and found the fishmarket located at the rear of the location. People were in line ordering food so We assumed that we were to purchase our seafood and take it to the cooks to prepare it for us. We bought shrimp, snow crab, and a whole tilapia that was prepared for cooking. It was a little over $100. As my wife went to get drinks from the first counter we saw as we walked in, the woman behind the counter asked us if we would like the Famous Shrimp Plater. We told her we already bought our seafood from the market. The woman said if we wanted the famous shrimp plater, we could have gotten one from here minus the snow crab for 55 bucks. A pound of snow crab was 19 dollars. So basically we spent about 30 dollars more than we should have on the shrimp tray. We also ordered 2 corn on the cobs. They looked good covered in a spread and I believe Parmesan cheese. Took one bite and it was cold. I'm sure if it was warm it would have been great but let's just say I only took that one bite. The shrimp and fish was good but was disappointed in the confusion and corn. If you go to the San Pedro Fish Market, ask a lot of questions and stick to the seafood. Enzo

Great Sea Food!

By EaterofFood |

When you first walk in, it is very family friendly. There is a variety of seafood to choose from. If you are there for the first time, it might be confusing as to what to do and how to order, but it is all worth it. The shrimp was well cooked, and I had calamari as well, which was exquisite. Overall a very good place to eat and have fun, especially when with a big family.

Mariachi + Seafood

By Hector S |

This place should be higher on the list just for outdoor ambiance around San Pedro. Weekends it tends to be a bit busy to the point were they have a line to enter. The seafood plater dishes are huge and shareable if you go with a big group. You can also find some of the best Micheladas in town around the Port O’ Call area.

Awesome food!!

By WithJess |

Large trays of shrimp with garlic bread. Fried fish everywhere. Seafood! Seafood! It is overwhelming for your first time and the wait time can be be long but in the end its worth it.

Wonderful fish

By haroldrooke |

My wife and I stayed in San Pedro for our visit to the LA area. We happened upon this restaurant on the bay at the Port of LA. There are several restaurants connected in this shopping village. We decided to sit down in the restaurant although there was another section where you could order your food and sit outside. There were mariachi bands playing music in three of the outdoor venues. On our first visit, we decided to try the sailors platter. The fish for that day was Sea Bass. Coupled with shrimp and calamari ( substitute extra fish if you do not like calimari) The fried fish was heaven. The batter was light and the fish cooked to perfection. On our second visit we decided to have the sea bass sandwich. It came grilled. Be sure to ask for fried if you have a preference. We did not and found the grilled good but not as wonderful as the fried version two days earlier. If you have the platters, be sure to ask what the fish is that day, it might not be something you like and you can order another item. After the meal, be sure to visit the fish market and marvel and the variety you can buy to take home.

Casual Lunch on the water front

By John G |

A genuine Mecca for the locals and a real treat for visitors. The restaurant complex is massive with a huge fresh fish market that had dozens of people waiting in line to buy fresh fish of seeming endless varieties. There is an even more impressive fast food section (order off the wall menu) that can seat several hundred people. There is also a small but very nice traditional restaurant section offering full sit down service. The fast food side was packed with long long lines at the order counter. The sit down restaurant area was not crowed. The menu was extensive and very reasonably priced. The food was very good and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. You could tell by the huge crowd eating in the other section that this is a very popular spot.

DON'T GO unless you are not hungry and you want to waste a half day waiting!

By Steven D |

This place was more than disappointing! we waited 30 min. to get inside. Then you have to wait for another 30 min. or more to place your order or do as we did and figure out on your phone how to place your order. After that they have your money and you have sold your sole to a place that has no need to get your food out. That took another hour. When we got it. My wife's potatoes were not fully cooked, My fish was cold as could be. We ordered cocktail sauce they delivered tarter sauce. When we did get our sauce it tasted like watered down ketchup. A mandatory 18 to 20 percent tip for NO SERVICE. No one to complain to. We watched two cruise ships leave with full buffets for 5000 people in the time it took to get our food for two. FYI a 10.00 parking charge. 6.00 for a Pepsi, 19.99 for 10 shrimp but one did come with the shell still on and of course the uncooked potatoes and some other junk my wife left behind. I got less fries that a large McDonald's order and about 8 small pieces of White fish for 19.99 with some slaw that had nothing more than cabbage and methane gas in it.

Dinner on the Bay

By Cynthia C |

I went to San Pedro fish market back in October, and wanted my wife to experience the freshness of the market. The red snapper was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. The experience if picking the fish to having it prepared either grilled or fried gave my wife and myself exactly what we were desiring. The roaming mariachi band gave us the feeling we were miles away from thew big city. This is not a normal tourist attraction but well worth the stop if you enjoy fresh seafood.

Fresh food with an interesting setup!

By ClassyJetsetter |

Nothing fancy here....We were visiting for a family event (and made our stay a mini-vacation). You have to decide on your "tray" (meal) and then pick out the fresh seafood then take it to the steaming/cooking area. You can sit indoors or outside.

Fresh..fresh seafood!

By Hany G |

Went there at the weekend, there is a big parking lot. There are many fish restaurants and you might get confused which is which. We picked our tilapia and sea bass and paid for them then we dropped them off at the window for cooking. You got to find a table to sit till your food is cooked, it is usually busy at the weekend. The fish was delicious and cooked to perfection!

The place to vist for a meal

By Paul A |

This is a very popular place to come and have a meal and drink. You can either pick from a good menu choice or really go for it and pick your own seafood from the store and then have it cooked for you. Lots of places to sit and a very big parking lot.

Good food

By Corey B |

Came here on a Monday night. It was not so busy and the food was fast. We bought shrimp and red snapper and had it boiled and it was great. No complaints there! The place seemed a little grubby but not enough to keep me from going again. The food was too good for that. Drinks were incredibly over-priced tho...

Simple yet savory.

By Rafael M |

My wife and I went in late December 2016. We came at brunch, to find the market was mostly empty, which resulted in swift service and a fast turnaround at the stir-fry counter. We had the Shrimp Tray, the dish augmented with the addition of octopus. The dish, served simply (literally on a tray) was piled high with a savory blend of vegetables, and though initially seeming expensive, my wife and I ate our fill with enough for leftovers later. It is not the most glamorous or flamboyant dining experience, but there is an irresistible charm in its simple presentation and the market's overall atmosphere; the unquestionably delectable food cements the experience as one we will revisit in the future. That the Ports O' Call village is far from its salad days is not much of a debate. However, the "World Famous" Shrimp Tray is called that for a reason, as my family sometimes stops themselves mid-thought, interrupted by the memory of the simple stir-fry plainly served which nevertheless hits all the right notes in the palette.
