sample the best of spain

By matone820 |

this restaurant is a sampling of the best cuisine from different regions of Spain...from the cochinillo of Segovia, to the mariscadas from galicia...the tapas from san Sebastián and the sophistication of Madrid...best paellas in town!!! top of the line service....a little out of the way but definitely worth the journey, free vine on Thursday and a clone of the gypsy kings on Saturday...

A rip-off

By CanesMike |

This place is a rip-off. They pull you in through a dealsaver.com offer, then refuse to honor it. The music is so loud that diners were yelling at the person seated across from them. Between the hostess, bartender and manager, not a one of them can read plain English.

FINALLY SUPERIOR SPANISH FOOD IN MIAMI.

By BassMaster G |

This was a very nice place to celebrate a special occasion. The service is outstanding and staff is very friendly. We enjoyed the paella with plenty of seafood and lobster. Excellent service, great food and atmosphere. You get to think you are in Spain.

Just delicious

By Basart74 |

What a nice Spanish restaurant. The food is excellent, tapas are extraordinary and deserts are the best. Good sangria too. Service is very good, my only surprise was that the personnel was mostly from different Latin countries not from Spain. A very classy decor, nice and relaxing environment. Free sangria and wine on Thursdays !

Pa’ella

By Yadira C |

Pa’ella the essence of Spanish Cusine. Best paella outside of spain in a small piece of Miami located in the famous eight street. It offer a different culinary experience bringing to the área an exotic taste by chef Julio with delicious variety of tapas , imported cheeses, wines from Spain. We have a great time ,dinner and show with family and friends!!!

Good

By Marcos U |

The food was delicious. Went with the family and was a little pricey. The live music was good but I've definitely seen better. Also the place was pretty loud the whole night which at times didn't let you hear the music and the lights never went dim to focus on the artists. Good but not great.

GREAT!

By jazzsmin |

I am a little baffled by some of the negative reviews on this particular restaurant because I have been there many times and every time they have exceeded my expectations. The food is absolutely delicious. The food is pretty darn close to food from Spain without it destroying your wallet. It is a small restaurant, but well decorated, and clean. The vibe is also very spaniard, what I mean by that is, when you go out to eat and drink wine, its the feeling of what's the rush. Enjoy, sit down, talk, drink wine, eat, drink some more, talk, take your time. That can be confused with bad service. When its not, its just RELAX, listen to the music, have a drink, enjoy your night out. I love the music and the dancers they have from time to time. They don't have 20 servers all over you, they have a couple and they do a very good job and they don't rush you out the door. They let you enjoy your dinner and night.

Great time excellent food !!!

By Mary |

This was our first time visiting this restaurant since it changed ownership. We were a party of 5 . We enjoyed different main dishes and some appetizers and everything was really good . Service is a bit slow but they get the work done Highly recommend and yes we will return . The musician was also very good .

Great Place for Tapas and authentic Spanish food. Go out of your way and visit!!.

By frez |

This restaurant is a nice gem located in an area isolated from your typical “go to places”. It might be misleading as you arrive to the beat-up strip shopping center. Do not be discouraged by it. Once inside the decor is hip and out of place for the location, but it's a welcome change of scenery. The service was prompt and attentive. The Wine list is extensive and heavy loaded with good quality Spanish wines. The wines prices are around 2:1 mark up compared to liquor store/wine shop prices, which is not excessive. This review comes after our second visit in a span of one week. On our first visit with another couple, we ordered a bottle of 09 Bodega Muga Reserva Rioja. Appetizers we ordered Pulpo a la Gallega and Croquetas Cantabricas. (Hint: if you are not provided with the tapas menu, ask for it, as it contains a large selection of tapas not found on the main menu). The Octopus was delicious, tender and tasty. The croquetas (Cod croquettes) could have used a bit more fish in it, but the texture and flavor were right on. As for our main dishes we ordered Cochinillo Lechal, Zarzuela de Mariscos, Bacalao a la Brasa (Cod Fish), and Lubina (Sea Bass) a la Espalda. The Cochinillo was spot on with the crispiness of the skin. The Zarzuela was huge with generous amount of seafood, including jumbo shrimp, and the flavor amazing. Both of the fish dishes were perfectly cooked. The Bacalao a la Brasa comes with delicious grilled vegetables. We did not order the Parrillada de Mariscos (Grilled Seafood Platter) or the Paellas, but we some on neighboring tables, and the portions were very generous related to amount of seafood, and even if listed for two person, it could easily feed three souls. The service is very good, maybe a bit too attentive with the water, as they come to your table to refill your glass at your every sip. Maybe they could slack off a bit on that. The total damage for our first visit was $190. Including gratuity, this is reasonable for the amount and quality of the meal, (including wine). Our second visit this past Sunday was dedicated to tapas. We were a party of six so we ordered all together, three Lobster Bisque (amazing!), one Caldo Gallego, a bit thin but good flavor, one Tabla Mixta, (cheese, ham, chorizo), Salpicon de Mariscos (the Spanish version of Ceviche) very good, Boquerones Fritos, it is like fried sardines, very tasty; Croquetas Cantabricas, (see diner review);Champiñones Salteados con jamon, (Grilled Mushroom stuffed with Ham);the only dish not to my satisfaction was fried calamari, since the batter fell of the rinds and was not crispy. But everything else was great. We had two pitchers of house Sangria, (delicious) and three desserts: Soufflé Sancho (amazing), Tarta Helado Turron, and Flan. All of that was $198 before tip. I can’t wait to go back.

Best Spanish Food in West Kendall

By Lazaro D |

I have been a regular of Sancho, since they opened early this year. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, modern, quiet but NOT STUFFY. From the front door to your wait staff you are put at ease and made to fell very welcome. I will admit, I am not a seafood person at all. However, Sancho has a "Chuleton de Buey" that was amazing. It came out very hot & very juicy with a little char on it and the server finish it in front of you in a volcanic rock!! I highly recommend you ask for the "Chuleton" as it is a show and they are cooked to perfection. The desserts are all made in house and if you don't get the Soufflé you are missing out for sure. As fantastic as the food is at Sancho, the only thing that can top it is their staff. If you look up the word Prenominal you will see words like, remarkable, exceptional, incredible, unbelievable and extraordinary. With that I can safely say their staff is Phenomenal! From the greeting at the front door, to the bussers, it appears that each employee is a part owner. They take great care of each guest. Too often I see at restaurants where staff members will pass your table without even looking at you. I was at another place in Miami during the same weekend and my server appeared to have gotten lost or something so I had to ask two other people for refills and each said they would try to find my server to take care of that. At Sancho, without being intrusive, it doesn't matter what their position is, they are there to help you. I must single out Ruben, the bar back who was very helpful and professional. You can tell, even as a bar back, the management has trained him very well and instilled in him "treat the customer well." The Sancho Restaurant is a MUST while you are in Miami and you have a taste for an amazing Chuleton ,Sea Food or Paellas and now with shows on weekends is even better to spend the night! Highly recomended

Best Spanish Food in Miami!

By regla f |

This is the best Spanish restaurant in Miami. The food is outstanding, the service is excellent and the ambiance unique, exquisite touch! We made reservations a week ahead as it is always full, so reservation is a must. We had Pulpo a la Gallega, OMG it was delicious, the Tabla Mixta, with real Spanish products, not like in other Spanish restaurants. The Paella is a most try, we had the seafood Paella with bogabantes, we have never seeing something like it anywhere! It was incredible. Definitely, a great experience and a come back for sure.

Bset Tapas ever.

By Eduardo H |

I have Visited Sanchos on various Occassions, and they have the best tapas in Miami, the same goes for the Paella, Ox Tail made in Wine sauce, also the Seafood is delicious.

Great authentic Spanish food

By Jose T |

Went for dinner, and the food was excellent, the service was great and the restaurant was very nice, I had the lamb chops that were incredible, but looked at other plates that also looked fantastic.

Great Food, Service needs to catch up

By ABtravel |

The food at Sancho is great, it really is; however, the service needs some improvements. For starters our waiter never told us the specials of the chef. We found out through another waiter that was serving the table next to us but it was too late we had placed our order. There was a gentleman that by his demeanor he was either the manager or owner but he only goes by the tables to check on his patrons if he knows you, he was in the table in front of us talking and made sure everything was to their liking, he totally ignored our table. other than that no one asked us how our food was prepared. Our waiter took a long time for everything. And I don't mean the food, for dessert, for coffee to bring the check and to collect it... I gave it a five star for the food cause it really is prepared that good, but the service needs to be improved to make it a positive all around experience..

Magnificent

By Yosbani J |

Everything was very good, tremendous attention and very good food, I felt like family, I would like to come more often.

Very, very good....

By Eduardo G |

Good Spanish restaurant. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you get. Try the Albariño wine. It will surprise you how good it is. Enjoy.

Sancho is a great place to go and have a wonderful evening

By N8938RVali |

My husband and I have been there many times. We have never left unhappy with our meal or with the service. Friday and Saturday nights are great when you go with a group of friends and enjoy the music

Wish I were there

By Antonio A |

No one would expect to find a Miami a good restaurant in the suburbs. This is the land of the family oriented, chain restaurants. So it was a great surprise to find a very good, I could say, excellent one in SW Miami. The simple hip décor is inviting, the staff welcoming you in a very professional way. However the best surprise was the food. The quality of the food, the careful preparation and presentation of the dishes and the wide array of good wines could rival any other Spanish restaurant in the best parts of Miami. I have returned two other times and I keep the praise. Highly recommended.

Great find in Kendall!

By Mtere59 |

My husband and I have driven by Sancho several times but it wasn't until tonight that we decided to try it. The decor was a nice surprise: modern, simple elegance, with a Spanish touch. The bar seems to be a great place for tapas and beer and the ambiance is welcoming. But the best part is the food. We enjoyed every dish- gaspacho, lubina, ox tail, boquerones,- all was perfect. The wine selection is pretty good and the service is efficient and friendly. Ruben, our server, was great. This is a place where you can have a conversation, listen to good Spanish music, and have an excellent meal. Great addition to the Kendall area!!!

Sancho Restaurant

By Dinora S |

We went there for our regular monthly work meeting which includes lunch. The lunch and services here is great. There were live music and dancing. Try the pork, tapas and paella. The only challenge is parking. It will take you several minutes to locate a parking because this parking is usually full. I suggest if you are meeting family or friends or have reservation get there at least 10 minutes early in order to secure a parking place.

Great Tapas & Wine

By miamiair |

Several coworkers told me about this place, and I had to give it a try. On Thursdays, the house wine is on the house, along with Sangria. There is a Tapas menu and there is a regular menu. We had tapas and a recommendation for the wine which was excellent. Try the fried garbanzos. We sampled the chistorras, las croquetas de jamon, solomillo and the calamari. We were left full and happy. I will visit again sometime soon.

Lunch whim

By Mrblaw |

After spending 2 + hours at a school function came for lunch. It was great food. The gazpacho was refreshing. The white sangria is really good. The plates are huge. The kids menu item they could have shared. We stuck to tapas and that was a good idea. The service was ok. Neither great nor bad. Will come again.

Great food and ambiance

By Pete M |

We went to Sancho's for a birthday celebration. The live entertainment was awesome. It was a duo that played old Spanish songs and sounded like an entire band. Upon making reservations we were told there would be a flamenco show. I guess they changed the entertainment at the last minute. Te food was authentic Spanish and the wine selection was plentiful. The waiter was not as great as I like but I will not downgrade the restaurant on it because we had a great time.

Good not great

By Gerardo P |

Great to have a high end Spanish rest. In this part of town. The wines and service were great. The food was very good, but not great. The paella came out on time but was a bit bland in taste. My son had the largest lamb shops I've seen in quite a while. The prices were a bit high for this neighborhood

Sancho Restaurant

By Dinora S |

We had a late lunch here with a large group from work. The service was good and the food is excellent, if you like Spanish cuisine. The only issue is parking. It is situated in a shopping center with other businesses. Try the lechon. They actually cut it for you with large plates. In addition, try the paella.

High quality Spanish cuisine

By rosalg02 |

I have been several times to this restaurant either for tapas or regular dining or lunch and it never fails to please. Efficient friendly service and on Thursdays table wine is free. Fridays and Saturdays there is live flamenco music. One of the few places in Miami where you can have suckling piglet, which you need to order a day in advance.

Sancho

I honestly love this restaurant, it’s super fun i always have an amazing time here. I 100% recommend this restaurant.

Worst service etiquette ever!!!!

By ABtravel |

On 07/02/16 took my family from out of town to experience Spanish Food. I arrived at 715pm. I was greeted by a lady who was on the phone behind a high desk. The restaurant was empty other than one table of four and 3 people by the bar. She immediately told us that reservations were coming in at 7p to 730p and she could not give us a table because the entire restaurant was booked. She never gave me an option of coming back within a few minutes or nothing she was very stern and rude. When I ask to speak to a manager, she said he wasn't there for two weeks. After much frustration with her unwillingness to help her customers we left. Luckily for me I spoke Spanish cause no one at the time spoke English. Extremely poor service

Expectacular!

By gladysesperanza |

I seems like I was in Spain. I went on a Saturday night and had to reserve with 2 weeks prior as the restaurant is always full. I don't regret having to wait the two weeks as it was worth the money. The place has a tablao show which is incredible, love it. The food is amazing, from the generous portions, to a great price. The appetaizers as shrimp with garlic oil was great, as well as the tabla mixta and the Cantabric croquettes (cod fish). We tried the seafood paella with lobster, and it was incredible we have never eaten a paella like this in Miami before. Highly recommended! We also ordered oxtail, and it was just to the right point. The desserts were also good, specially the chocolate mousse. Will be back soon!

The staff was great and so was the food. The owner/chef cam out at the end of the night to greet each one of us and make sure we had s good experience.

Engagement Dinner Ruined! Don't Go There!

By Yvette T |

My cousin planned an intimate engagement dinner for his fiance and our family. At a place where he's been to several times and liked the food. He called on a Tuesday to make reservations and there was no one to take it and he was told someone would call back. No one did. He called today and the "Manager" said she would "do him a favor and squeeze him" in because it wasn't fair to the other guests. When we arrived we came with one extra person and the manager had a temper tantrum the equivalent of 2 year old, raising her voice and yelling at my cousin in front of my family saying that she couldn't accommodate us. The restaurant was completely empty! We got up and walked out, and are going to another Spanish restaurant who knows how to treat clients. This lady who apparently is dumber than a box of rocks, should not be in the service industry. You do not treat customers like this, regardless of whether or not you mess up on the reservation or they bring one extra person. If you want good service, this isn't the place to go, not while this lady works there. FYI she's a short skinny, blonde lady who can barely speak English and needs to go to charm school!

Like a trip to Madrid. Freah fish and vegetables.

From our wine, to cod and snapper meals flan and complimentary cordial we loved our dining experience at Sancho. The little wait for our meal to be cooked freshly was so worth it. Highly recommend.

excellent seafood dishes, very tasty and excellent presentation

By Martha R |

I took my family for dinner for my birthday and I am very pleased I chose Sancho restaurant, The food, the service and dessert is above and beyond my expectactions, very affordable and abundant food. Very nice ambient.

Amazing food and service!!!!

By nella |

I've been here with my family about 7 times already and not only is the food phenomenal... but the service is so good too!! The servers (Carlos and Nara) always remember us by name and remember to get us bread since we love it so much 😂 10/10 recommend!

Visit to Spain?

By Oscar S |

We ordered the Oxtail and the lamb chops. It was very good! We had the Serano Ham, Manchego cheese and the octopus Gallego as appetizers. Five stars all the way! The Sangria is also very good.

Don't forget to go and enjoy the place. You'll love it!

By Lourdes A |

Excellent place to enjoy dishes prepared in the Spanish style with a very Cuban touch. Professional treatment and not at all cloying. Everything we ate was delicious. Andrés was our host and we are more than pleased with his familiarity and pleasant presence. I will definitely come back to eat my fried calamari. Thank you all. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CHEF.

Not a favorite

By MQA-Fla |

Service is not bad, food is average compared to other Spanish Restaurants in town. Went for the first time on Saturday night, it was too loud and when you add the singer/dancer (non-stop) you couldn't hear yourself think much less attempt to talk. The singer and the dancer, well can't really describe their performance although I am sure they did her best. All in all, will not return

Excellent food and services!!

By Iris D |

We are very happy eating at this restaurant, always a very good services from Carlos and Amick, great food, was a wonderful day.

Cena Española de Cumpleaños

By Luis C |

In general a restaurant with good food, good live music from a spaniard couple playing traditional music and dancing to it. They offer only beers and wines from Spain. O little bit pricy...

OLE!..First class.

By ElFlaco |

Don't you love to find new, lost-in-nowhere-hidden-gems? Well, this is one of those places. Away from the tourists or fancy areas in Miami, you'll find this restaurant. We walked in at 7:30 on a Thursday night, -the day they serve free wine and sangria until you say no more and it was packed with long list of reservations ahead of us, so we hit the bar and ordered tapas. To our surprise we were served by Arturo, an A+, "top100" waiter whose perennial smile and prompt service made our night a most delightful experience. The plates brought me memories of eating in Spain long ago, tapas prepared home style, simple and from scratch, like manchego cheese, olives, gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic-wine sauce), fried potatoes in a red spicy sauce, spanish omelet, and some more delicacies that keep you wanting more and more. The only bad thing is that while you are savoring your tapas, you'll see other passing by plates that look even more delicious and smell better than the one you ordered. Making you wanting to order a bit of everything. The place was very clean, it has a lively ambiance and the price was very modest. The moment we walked in, immediately we had someone taking care of us. We were so into it, that we forgot to take pictures! In Miami there are some fancy spanish places, but this one is second to none! Definitely a keeper! Thank you Arturo!

Excellent service, bland food

By Ncl7 |

Went with my mother for her birthday. My husband and I ordered the seafood paella. Unfortunately, it looked beautiful, but it was totally tasteless. I couldn't even eat it. The lobster bisque is very good. The cantabria croquettes are also good and the service is excellent.

Great restaurant!

By Roxsana E |

Sancho is a very nice place to eat and spend time together with family and friends. The staff is always attentive and the food is delicious. But leave some place for the dessert menu, which is great, too. Every time we go to Miami we visit Sancho ❤️

not going back

By Ricardo P |

dissapointed if a Spanish restaurant does not know how to make a tortilla they are in trouble. In the ham croquetes you could not see the ham . The only good plate was the fried eggs with serrano ham.

Excellent food and ambience

By HectorFL |

We went there for dinner last night. The ambience is excellent, elegant and very Spanish. The lobster soup is great along with the tortilla with onions and potatoes. The solomillo steak was tender and flavorful, along with the sauce it came with. The merluza fish was very tasty. The service was low key but good and they have Spanish music on Saturday night.

The best Spanish food in South Florida.

By adolfo c |

The best Spanish food in South Florida. I recommend the Octopus Croquettes and Assorted Table with Bellota Ham. Excellent service.

Food was salty and at the end the prices were higher than the menu

By Rafael G |

They are a bit snobbish and the food quality was not that good. The prices were all elevated when the check came. Upon my complaint, the owner said that the menu had not been changed and the one online had been hacked.

Pleasantly surprised

By 929lissettr |

Been wanting to come here girl some time. Glad I finally made it. Did not know I needed reservation but the hostess was very nice to explain and we sat at the bar. Food, service (Ruben) was beyond AWSOME and price. I will most definitely will come back and make reservations for a table, but the bar will do just fine.. There is a Flamenco Show at 8 and it's good. The gentleman sounds like if your listing to the Gypsies Kings.

THE SERVICE WAS EXELENT

By Ivonneromy |

I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this restaurant , the food was excellent but the service was really AMAZING, OUR SERVER ARMANDO IS the best of the staff, he made feel us at home. AMAZING PLACE

Not worth it.

By Rasiel R |

Food was good, not great. Service was very very slow. Cochinillo was good but 1 hour late. Music and environment we just ok. Wine was overpriced. I will not recommend and not planning to comeback. There are many good Spanish restaurante Miami.

Great ambience but…

By Josebsan |

I am sorry to disagree with so many TA reviews. The place has a great atmosphere, excellent old Cuban music and a great tapas menu. My wife ordered lobster bisque, she found it had no taste. We order 'chanquetes' , Small breaded and fried whitefish. The waiter brought the fish before my wife got finished. It also sat next to us for about five minutes before we were served. Obviously there were cold when we ate them. I do not believe their service is as good as most TA members claim. Perhaps it was an unusual situation. I look forward to come back and taste some of the other dishes they have. I do hope my experience would be different and I would agree with the rest of the comments.
