Great little casual spot

By Lisa W |

Excellent street tacos and frozen ritas. Nice little rooftop with flatscreen for sports. Open mic on Tuesday nights!

Yum!

By JK_SATX |

After chips and salsa (came with 3 different salsas), we had he shrimp tacos and bistec tacos. The food was really tasty. Because it was raining, we sat inside. There is limited indoor seating. I want to go back when we can sit outside. The live music was good, as was the service. Parking is tight, but definitely worth the effort. We will go back!!

Delicious!!

By Dianne B |

We really enjoyed eating our Carnitas tacos and nachos! Fun, out of the mainstream place with live music on a Sunday evening. Really liked the margaritas also!

Thursday Night With The Bandoholics!

By groefishes |

ALWAYS great eclectic food! The Empanada Of The Day never disappoints. I've sampled many menu items here, and can honestly say I've never been disappointed. Great food, along with great and entertaining music, and excellent margaritas will keep me coming back for more! Kudos to the management and staff for always making a visit to Sancho's an absolute blast! ❤🍸🌮

I came from Kenya because i heard how delicious the food was. Turns out it lives up to the name!!! Great place, live music, friendly employees and vvvvveeerrryy nice food, very nice. I recommend this place 10/10, don’t wast your money somewhere else, Sanchos cantina and cocina is the place to go!

Total disappointment! We received

By Ute R |

Total disappointment! We received email from Sanchos that they would take reservations for Cinco de Mayo. Emailed to reserve table for 3 at 6 pm. Reservation was confirmed and advised to call back to purchase the required gift card. Called that Sam enlighten several times and unable to get through or have any one pick up phone . Since we live close by we decided to stop by in the afternoon of Cinco de Mayo to purchase the gift card and make sure the reservation was still good. We stopped by at 4 pm and were advised our resection was good. When we came back at 6 pm the place was packed and no available tables. The waitress told us she did not have our reservation after showing her our reservation email she called the manager Mia ( who we corresponded with via email to make and confirm reservation) . We waited 20 min for Mia. When she finally found time to speak with us she showed no empathy and told use she had no tables available. We were more than upset, it’s Cinco de Mayo and impossible to get reservations anywhere else. We walked home and decided to give Mia another chance . After 10 call attempts we finally got through to talk to Mia and asked if she could give us a call when a table was coming available. She bluntly told us , “ if I get to it!” Mias customer service skills were unacceptable , I work in a customer service environment and know that industries accommodate when “overbooked “ ( hotels, airlines, restaurants..) but she totally dropped the ball. Sancho’s please hire a new manager!

Great spot!

By Rachelle F |

We love Sancho's! Every time we visit San Antonio we make a trip to this local gem. Great food, relaxed atmosphere; favorite spot around.

Best Happy Hour and food's pretty darn good.

By Philip A |

Sancho's always has a great "extended" Happy Hour that doesn't force you to race over right after work. And even if you miss the happy hour by a few minutes, there's always a daily special that works, for me it does anyway. Nachos, tacos, tapas, it's all good. The secret is the sauces. Some good jammin' music in the evening.

Always fun!

By Micki G |

I've never had a bad time at this place. We start and end our bike rides here on Mondays, but I love coming here solo and with friends. Its a great chill atmosphere, the only place i will drink frozen margaritas (w/ sangria swirl best) and the food is only fantastic. The music choices are so varied...jazz one night, Americana, local, punk, open mic...I've even sang with a band...NEVER A BAD TIME!!

Neighborhood bar

By Spraygun |

This is a great neighborhood bar. Best time to come is about an hour before sunset. They have a great view of downtown and live music. The drinks are the best.

Horrible experience

By Melissa H |

HERES MY EMAIL I SENT SANCHOS Sanchos Cantina & Cocina (never responded to me) Good Afternoon, On the evening of September 28th, myself and 17 other family members went to have dinner in memory of my uncle Joe, we had just came from Angelus funeral home after his rosary and your venue was very nearby. I have never received such horrible service. We can begin with the wait it took before we even were greeted by a server that was about a 15 minute wait at least, ordering food was chaotic, credit cards were collected at the beginning of the night- something I have never seen done at a restaurant, when we received our food it was placed with the wrong people, we were never even told which dish was which we had to figure it out by seeing what ingredients were in it-chicken, beef or vegetarian , our drinks took forever to be brought to us at least another 15 minutes- long enough for several of us to go down to the bar order drinks on separate tabs and return to the table, my son and cousin did not receive their order until about 20 minutes after everyone else, water cups were passed out, picked up and refilled and re-distrusted among the table all mixed up, my uncles water cup had lipsick it on it, my cousins water cup had a crumpled receipt at the bottom of it, the food was decent at best, we had to frequently remind the servers that we were still waiting on refills or for orders that had not been brought out. Our overall experience was horrible especially coming from such an emotional event it was the last thing we needed to occur. I called and spoke to the manager- Mia Cortez- she was unapologetic and was only willing to reimburse the items that were incorrectly billed to my sisters bill, which was $11.10. There was 15 adults and 3 children in our party, we spent hundreds of dollars there easily, between rounds of tequila shots, alcohol orders and food and received horrible service. The way the manger handled my call I felt the need to reach out to you. She did not even express any condolences for the passing of my uncle which in itself was very disrespectful, we live in a city that is full of compassionate people and someone in a managerial position should have more empathy and make guests feel more appreciated, I have been treated better at a fast food restaurant. It is just a shame that our first experience with your place went this way. I will compliment you on the beautiful view from the second story, it is a great location, our experience could have gone so differently and it is quite a shame. We had guests from Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and the Woodlands. I would appreciate a response to this email and I am interested to know how you react. I will await your response before we share our experience with our friends and family. Thank you for your time and consideration. n all write a review. Have a happy Monday! Lol Melissa Hurst

TE PONES MUY ANCHO COMIENDO EN SANCHO'S (in a good way)

By Jorgec881 |

This is a one of a kind place. The food is beyond amazing as well as the drinks. Top local and regional music artists. If you visit San Antonio, this is a must. If you live here and haven't visited, shame on you.

Outdoor patio and rooftop are great!

By dinosaur205 |

What more can you ask for from a relatively new addition to the cantina with eats scene. The outdoor patio and the rooftop area are cool and inviting at night. The indoor seating offers live music during the weekends and a fun vibe during the week. Happy hour specials for some drinks. The margaritas are delicious and the draft beer is cold. Try the beef mini tacos, you will not be dissappointed!

Great Bar Restaurant, Great Music

By BoardingPass469603 |

This is a wonderful place to get inexpensive drinks and light Latin cuisine. Serving staff is tops. Music is fabulous. Check-out Wednesday night blues and jazz with Chris Cuevas opening for Ruben V. Great way to relax mid-week.

Don't believe the Fb 4-Stars

By Michael H |

I believe that I'm a fairminded person, but...this place was wrong from the beginning. Parking is atrocious. There are signs posted everywhere that the next door Taco Bell WILL tow your vehicle with no problem. It is good they say "cantina" and not restaurant. The food was overly spiced, enough to make you think of a mystery meat type establishment. We were even given a flat soda (soft drink menu was very limited). The decor was horrible the wall side of the benches were dusty, that you could actually see the dust. The tops of the back of your chairs were sticky. I would recommend some other place. There are many great eating establishments in this great city, worthy of your hard earned dollars. The only shining light here was the waitstaff.

Great Nachos & Drinks

By Lindyfrsa |

We have the vegetarian nachos and they were excellent. I also had the "sancholada" mixed drink and it didn't disaapoint. The only downside of this place was the lack of central a/c; instead the small dining area had small a/c units which had trouble keeping the place cool when the door was opened often. They have plenty of seating on the roof top and ground level patios.

a hidden gem

By beachwalks95 |

Take a ride away from the riverwalk for less expensive and fresh and tasty food! The reviews were spot on. We had fresh tacos, empanadas, and frijoles charros. The bartenders and wait staff were friendly and service was excellent. Good live music no cover and cold beer. A place where the locals hang out with a few tourists like ourselves. We enjoyed it so much the first night, we went back before leaving town.

Great Sunday Funday

By Dominic23 |

Really fun spot to catch up with friends and family. Live music is always great and the food and drinks are excellent. Perfect spot for a Sunday Funday.

Wow

By Matthew H |

Great environment to come relax with your friends and family, enjoy some drinks and get excellent food. The service and quality here is hard to find.

Great food.

By Roxanna Cortez |

Picked Sanchos based on reviews. Loved the food. Portions are small, so ask your waitress about recommendations. Drinks are the bomb. Fruit flavored Margaritas that are impeccable.

Better than I expected

By Domen B |

Sunday afternoon live music, good food and kindness waitresses. That's all you need on the Sunday's afternoon.

Don't waste your time

By Chuntell W |

We were in town for Cinco de mayo and made reservations weeks prior with the events Manager Mia Sanchez. WE corresponded back and forth and I secured our reservations with the required $50 deposit. After arriving we were informed our table had been given away after the Manager wrote our reservations down for the wrong time. Even after showing her the email with time she was unable to accommodate us. She apologized, refunded our deposit and sent us on our way. As a retail manager I found that totally unacceptable. We took an uuber to the peal district (which was much more suitable for our tastes) and had a great night!

Fantastic food and drinks

By James H |

Had the Bistec tacos and a few of the drinks. Tacos were delicious and had simple but well put together high quality ingredients. Some of the best I have tasted. Portion is small for tacos, but price was cheap and competitive. Drinks were great, margarita had a very light hint of lime, was refreshing. Lemon drops were fantastic small shots. Fantastic service, good atmosphere, real hidden gem.

A Blast!!!

By Terry W |

Love this place, love the food!!! Attentive waitstaff and Cool clientele! Yeahhhhh...Sancho's!!! Come for the Music!!!

Gteat spot - Sam is a legend!

By Cam B |

We went to Sanchos with our 3 year old, and while the music was a little loud for her, the place is awesome! There is a huge rooftop that plays football and sports, and is great if you need to get away from the music to talk. Great staff were very attentive and we met and had a few beers with the owner, Sam who knew most guests by name. He was super friendly and told us some useful tips about SA in general. Would love to go back if I'm ever in the area again. Thanks Sam!

Strongly recommend.

Visiting the USA is a joy. As an Englishman I look for individuality and in Texas I found it. Sanchos Bar in San Antonio offered a fantastic menu-reasonably priced, superb entertainment and an extremely friendly clientele. I have no complaints on the portion sizes and the variety was amazing. My only sad point is that I am now back in England and unable to frequent as much as I wish.

Amazing place

By Linda G |

I love this place. The atmosphere and food were amazing. They had a live band. The service was great. Most definitely will be back!!

Great Local Spot!!

By Laurie R |

Our Son found this local spot on line. We really had a great time and Stephen, the bartender was able to recommend specific food for each one of us. My husband loved his spicy tacos. What a great find.

Perfect spot to take a load off with amazing food, drinks and customer service

By MAS |

Every now and then you walk into place that makes you wish you lived in that city. If I ever move to San Antonio, it’ll be because of Sanchos. With countless restaurants and bars in walking distance of our event venue, we still made it a point to grab a Lyft and make it back to Sanchos for our final night in town. Some aesthetics and the laid back atmosphere were reminiscent of a Mid-Atlantic/DMV punk dive, just cleaner. Both the food and drinks were on point and the staff is amazing. Their frozen margaritas are marked as famous, and while not always a frozen margarita drinker, I had to give them a shot…I was really cold and it wasn’t the best move, but worth it. They truly are delicious, thick and smooth. For faster and not as chilling consumption, I did switch to traditional margaritas “with heat” and they Fo an amazing job of pairing the flavor for a spicy margarita using Haitian Heat. The 1800 Mule was also stellar. I unfortunately don’t recall all the drinks my colleague tried aside from a Paloma, but he loved them all. Worth noting, they’re also dog friendly which is nice to see when you’re on the road missing your pups. Haran was our bartender on both occasions and he is a beast with the drinks, but also very attentive, friendly, funny and helpful. I try not to be complicated with ordering, but also had an overwhelming week and couldn’t decide on things. It’s awesome to walk into a place and be educated on options with intuitive food/drink suggestions. Lance was like a machine, hard at work and knocking out margarita batches, but we luckily had the pleasure of chatting with him (he’s far better at multitasking than I) and learning more about the place. A final shoutout to the server with the pink bangs, I somehow, subconsciously made it my personal mission to always be in her way. She was friendly, fun and hilarious as well, I’m ashamed I missed her name, but she’s awesome. My only regret is that we had pre-planned on our second visit to pick up koozies or other merch that we forgot the first trip, but our Lyft arrived sooner than expected and we failed. Luckily, I found they sell merch online as well and was able to order! The crowd was super diverse and I can’t give you a recommendation on it being a good place for a specific occasion, it’s just a killer place for anyone, compete with indoor, outdoor and rooftop seating. If you’re visiting San Antonio, it’s worth escaping the tourist rush to check out this place, or just go there every night of your visit. If you’re a local…you know more places than I do, but you should still go here. Thanks to all the staff at Sanchos for the stellar food, drinks and experience! You totally made our week and brought loads of relief to a long work trip.

FOOD AND BOOZE

By Abe J |

Sanchos Cantina is a Cantina. 7 days a week till 2am. Great live music accompanied with great full bar and all the food is fresh, clean and exploding with flavor. All Sanhod people take pride in everything to do. I go 3-4 times a week.

Great time @ Sanchos

By Zagros Khan |

I love the food and selection of Mexican beers and tequila. This place is a must in a beautiful day! Tortilla’s are hand made and amazing!

Amazing chill spot

By janedavidson0926 |

I went to Sancho's because I heard it was a casual bar with a rooftop. However, it turned out to be a lot more than that! The food is authentic and excellent. We ordered the homemade chips and salsa, queso con chorizo, and the tortas and all were pretty fantastic. Also the margaritas were cheap so that's always a plus. Definitely going back.

Upper, open deck is calling and inviting

By LuzMc |

The band playing outdoors on that deck made me check the place out, versus going to where I originally intended. The evening was perfect and made even more so by Rob, the owner, who asked the band to play one more hour. If you have enough room at your table, share it. Just tell the server, and before you know it you will be talking to interesting folks. Congrats Robert -whose multi-lingual by the way- for creating this space.

Amazing Food, Music & Atmosphere

By SACHEF |

Sancho's is like your very own Cheers bar -- after a visit or two, everybody knows your name and you feel like part of a neighborhood family. What's great about Sancho's is you'll love the food, music & atmosphere whether you're 8, 28 or 80. Live music almost every evening (and many afternoons), fantastic Mexican street tacos (including 3 delicious homemade salsas), a perfect roof deck and a lively but polite crowd from both near and far. Unlike many bars with food, Sancho's uses the highest quality ingredients: almost everything is local and organic, including the meats. I will drink margaritas at exactly 3 places in San Antonio, and Sancho's is one of them. Tequila, lime juice, a touch of agave, triple sec or syrup - punto. Not too sweet; just the right amount of sour. And the special margs (pomegranate swirl anyone?) are just as pure. Sancho's is open late, too, so you can go after a movie or Spurs game to top off your evening with a perfect combo of food, friends and Ruben V, West Kings Highway or other local troubadors.

Awesome

By Daniel G |

The band was awesome. The food was great. The entertainment was brilliant. The atmosphere was great. You will have a great time.

Great Music, Drinks, Food & Service!

By LauraLee11 |

We chose to eat here for the music that was playing that night & the pictures of the nachos from reviews. We had Queso, pork belly tacos, chicken tings nachos and a Torta. Everything was delicious & did not disappoint! We will definitely be back.

Hat

By tim p |

Need to update the website or merch on that site because when someone looks at it it seems as if though they have options. Turns out I’ve ordered 3 hats, two different, but they all came back the same. I was told sorry we are out of stock. I’m no tech nerd, but how hard is it to exclude the items you don’t have to a portal where I give you money? I just ordered, like a fool, another hat, sanchos, hoping it won’t be another Hecho. I get that it’s a dive bar. If you want to be in the sales arena after the fact please update your site and customer service.

I love this place.

By Migwell |

This is a perfect spot for a business lunch. Amazing food, 5 ice cold Mexican beers on tap and my favorite frozen margarita in Texas. More details and photos to follow... Viva SANCHOS!

Ceo

By horsenutz |

Sanchos was the most authentic cantina in San Antonio. The food was amazing and the choice of tequila and Mexican beers was all you could ask for. If you like frozen margaritas get there for happy hour! One of the other things I enjoyed was the music with three stages it was non stop with some of the best local bands in town. I have to say that the barmaids and servers without doubt were the friendliest and accommodating anywhere. It will be my first stop on my next visit for sure!

Amor de Fiesta

By MICHELLE G |

Sanchos is my neighborhood bar, eventho i live 13 miles north. This funky, comfy, divey place suits me to a tee. Inside the bar has seating for 6 and its made from an old tree that was repurposed! There are several inside tables and room for bands to play. Outside is open with a view of downtown San Antonio...the bar windows open up to serve the outside with more bar seating, with a chess set if you are so inclined. Several tables are in the covered patio area, along with a stage toward the back (see pic) as well as the front entry area, complete with a pecan tree. Then there is the rooftop deck...walk up the spiral staircase for a better view of DTSA. Frozen margaritas are the bomb...eventho they are served in plastic disposible cups...and less than $5...better at happy hour for $2.25! Plenty of spirits, Mexican beer ONLY. The food menu is good as well. The street tacos, every type, are great! 4 Handmade corn tortillas filled with pom belly or bistec or carnitas or beans and avocado and more. Oh, and the music!!! Ruben V every Wednesday...West Kings Hwy...Los Sancheros and MORE!! Go. See for yourself.

Great tacos and beer

By James H |

This is a great place to hang out and eat good tacos, drink great beer, and listen to local music. The environment is really laid back and friendly, and the service is quality. Our server definitely made me feel at home (I wish I remembered her name so I could give a shout.)

Chill Vibe & Good Food

By Tnezz |

I really like the chill atmosphere at Sanchos. The bartenders are super cool and the food that I’ve tried so far was really good. We weren’t starving today so I stuck to ordering a few appetizers. We tried some simple nachos with beans and cheese (the refried beans were da bomb), sausage balls, and shrimp balls. The shrimp balls stole the show. If your looking for a chill vibe and and good food to wash down with a cold Bohemia or Tecate gives Sanchos a try....🍻

The Rain Dogs

By Phylly S |

Great venue. Eclectic menu. What I liked best was that the servers were so sweet and accommodating, especially since it was PACKED !!! 5 STARS to these girls for being kind and so professional

Limited

By Michelle G |

Well what can i say about a tin container made into a cantina. Unusaul mixture of food even being organic. Waitress not very informative when asked questions. Even the sodas for non drinkers are organic. With having a diabetic person in the group, this was not a good fit. And the live music wasn't so good. Enter at your own risk.

Amazing Tortas

By Pshell75 |

Went for a quick lunch with a friend. Cool, relaxing place. Rather small inside but comfortable. The Chicken Tinga torta was AMAZING! A little spice a lot of flavor, soft toasty bolillo. So good!

Local Neighborhood Mexican Food, music and fun

By Pedro A |

This is really a nice place to eat, hang out and enjoy good live bands do their stuff. I in particular like the tacos and the chorizo burger - a pleasan surprise. All the staff and the owners are very attentative, helpful and supportive of a neighborhood establishment. You can see downtown from the upstairs deck and be able to watch any game you like on their big screen TV's. I came to know Sancho's from a local tattoo artist who recommended that I offer my father's day of the dead artwork and the owner Sam was very friendly and welcoming. Always a pleasure to spend the day there. I highly recommend Sancho's if you want some local San Antonio flair!

Amazing food, live music, great margaritas!

By susan s |

This has become by "go to" place to hangout, have a drink and listen to music. The amazing part is the food! Wow, you don't expect this kind of food in such an inexpensive, chill place, but everything I have had is great! They have a fish sandwich right now for Lent that is the best I have ever had! When they get busy,it can take a while to get served, but it is worth the wait (and I don't know any place where that isn't true) Whether you're a local looking for a place to meet up with friends or here from out-of-town looking for a good meal (including late night! Kitchen open until 1am), this is the place to be!

Local Favorite

By Hyland O |

Hesitant to share such a review because part of what makes Sancho's so great is that it's generally pretty lowkey- but I quickly became a regular like just about everyone else who visits this bar does. I always bring friends here from out-of-town because it so well encapsulates what makes San Antonio great- friendly, laid-back, unpretentious, good vibes, awesome food, and probably the best frozen margarita you've ever had. Dog friendly, their kitchen is open late, live music every night, not sure what else anyone would need.

Food quality

By gloria n |

The pictures on the web site pertaining to the meals looks appealing but is not quality served. The nacho chips were stale and the bread for the tortas was very hard, the serving for the food is overpriced. The sodas were flat and the sprite drinks "no Bueno". However, our waitress was good, friendly, and apologetic. Their alcoholic drinks also were good. Sanchos has great mixed drinks but lacks food quality.

Must Go Again!

By Karla G |

Great food, authentic Tex-mex with a fantastic vibe. Fun to hang with friends or bring a casual date.

Best margaritas in town

By Placido521 |

I wondered what drew the crowds to Sancho's. It's not a good looking place, and parking has improved, but still can be difficult. Well, the food and drinks are the reason. That, and sitting on the upstairs deck. Nachos are wonderful, tacos good, and really, margaritas are the best. We have a lot to choose from in San Antonio, but if you are in the area and don't want to go to The Cove, try Sancho's.

Kyle is the best... he catered to us very nicely bringing our food and drinks on time and was checking in at all times

By dgesther |

I give it a 10 first time going there and I guarantee its not the last. we were there last night we were , 60 plus aged ladies :) and we enjoyed our evening there, Thanks Kyle.

Great Food in a True San Antonio Cantina

By Getaway762961 |

Sanchos has a super groovy ambiance and great food. The staff is friendly and attentive. The interior is a laid back cantina with dining areas outside as well. The rooftop area has a great view of the downtown skyline. Sanchos is a must visit if you’re looking for a true San Antonio cantina.

Great little restaurant/bar far from the tourist crowds

By PSaxyfromCorinth |

While only 3 miles or less from the river walk this place is strictly a neighborhood place. My wife and I drove in from Dallas and were looking for someplace to have lunch. TripAdvisor gave us this place. Don't know what the inside looks like because both times we/I were there we sat outside. Chicken tinga tacos are very good and for something different try the Sanchos Hamburgesa is excellent. 80% ground beef and 20% made in house chorizo. From what the waitress said most everything is made in-house. Good house margaritas and the on the rocks ones actually have tequila in them - which some places skimp on. On my first visit I asked the waitress about the hamburgesa but had the chicken tinga. On my second visit my first waitress told the one who waited on my that I would be having the hamburgesa. And she was right. Great wait staff. Search this place out for good food and to hang with the locals.

Great place to hang out!!

By Melissa S |

Came out to hang out with friends and have some beers. Had a great time! Our waitress, Christina was very attentive even when we moved from the inside to the outside. Chips n queso are awesome! Very cool spot to come and hang out.

Neighborhood feel, with off the chart menu and service

By Ken H |

As a 15 year plus downtown resident, this is our backyard. With 30 plus years in the hospitality field (now retired) I feel I can bring you real insight into our locations. The good, the bad and the ugly. If we run across a serious issue, I will always go directly to management and not post it. I truly believe you always must give management an opportunity to correct a serious issue. If not corrected and or just ignored, then I feel it is correct to inform the public – professionally. No establishment is perfect. I will bring to you smaller hiccups we may have come across. I will rarely comment on the taste of food – being bad, as that is a very personal thing. My wife and I disagree on taste of food and wine, no one is wrong or right. Now if the food is on fire, burned, under/overcooked to our requests, that would be mentioned. My favorite thing about our visit to SANCHOS was their hospitality. Sometimes things do not turn out as you think (the customers end). We had a scheduled event planned at SANCHOS, and some of the RSVPs didn’t show up. Nothing changed at all from our server, he was simply amazing. Rearranged the tables to make it more suitable for us. And we received more one-on-one attention and interaction with him – he was amazing. Then the food and drinks. To say a solid happy hour menu for both drinks and food is an understatement. It is worth the Uber if you live downtown SATX! Had some amazing apps and drinks! The price point you can’t beat! Live music every Thursday, SANCHOS has a real neighborhood feel to it, but has a downtown view. We will set up another Thirsty Thursdays event in the spring. PS on the happy hour bites – try the croquetas de Camaron – “take a cold shower good”! See you soon, just Cindi and I!

Sanchos

Very chill place…I’d like to recognize server, lupita! for always taking care of us and her excellent customer service!!!

First Time...I'd go back again

By Thomas M |

Like many local treasures, Sanchos is well off the beaten tourist path but my guide is a local and drove effortlessly to the 628 Jackson St location. I had a simple lunch of chips and guacamole followed by three street tacos. Simple but delicious. I have heard that Sanchos is a strong supporter of local music but not at 2 PM in the afternoon... I'll be tempted to go back next time I'm in San Antonio.

Oh sweet.. I’m home!

By mwebblost |

Sancho’s really did me right. I don’t remember much but my friends said I had a good time. I woke up with chicken feathers in my mouth. Good times they tell me. On my way to Betty Ford Clinic now.

Chill local bar

By rasmithmex |

This is a great local bar in up-and-coming Five Points neighborhood! One of my favorites. Highly recommended.

an interesting, dog friendly place

By Billy Bob C |

We were in San Antonio for a conference and wanted a place with San Antonio flavor. We were not disappointed. The place was extremely casual. The menu was almost like "street tacos" in Mexico. There were not "plates" but individual items. The empanadas were great. The nachos were more than we could eat. The water was friendly and attentive, but not hovering. We had a nice evening on the patio where several folk had their fur babies. I have a feeling it is a hang out for a lot of regulars. If you are looking for something a little different where you can relax and hang out, you want to try this place.

Love the people, margaritas and food!!

By Becky K |

Great place to see local and traveling musicians, chill, eclectic crowd. Love the friendly atmosphere. I recently tried the vegan tacos, AMAZING!! Didn't miss the meat and cheese at all, lol. Highly recommend stopping!

Always love coming to Sancho’s!!

By Calli R |

This place has the best vegan/vegetarian options for me. Amazing margarita flavors. It’s common to see the business with live music, karaoke and other forms of entertainment. Lupita gave amazing service on my most recent visit<3

Feels like real San Antonio

By CiccioPasticcio |

Finally something in San Antonio that is not a tourist trap or a chain! Live music, pretty good tacos at very reasonable prices, large selection of beers and margaritas, friendly staff, and a good mixture of locals from various backgrounds. The upper area is nice and fresh - it overlooks a parking lot but that doesn't really matter, because you'll be having fun chatting with friends and dipping into sauces with your nachos. I only wish I'd found this place a week ago, rather than the last night of my stay here.

Everything is EXCELLENT!

By Nydia G |

From the food to the service, Sanchos delivers! I love the margaritas and queso & chips! Pork Belly nachos are also great! Nice ambiance! Highly recommended!

Hidden Gem

By Charles V |

We visited this spot by accident and it was fantastic. Good drinks, food looked great and the music was hot. Recommend you look up this little spot.

Atmosphere

By Howard R |

I was looking for an inviting atmosphere and I found it here at Sanchos. Great live local music, casual atmosphere and serious Mexican cuisine. From the authentic street tacos to the Authentic Mexican Tortas it's the perfect mix of San Antonio and it's culture as it would exist in a parallel universe.

Street tacos!

My family was looking for a good Mexican restaurant and we found it! $2 frozen margaritas and excellent food. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I couldn't have asked for anything better!

GREAT PLACE TO MEET WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY

By Grant B |

This place is amazing! Not only can you bring family and friends but furry friends are welcome as well as long as they are on a leash. Some of the best street tacos this side of the rio grande !!. The carnitas and pork belly nachos are the BOMB!! Ice cold beer, friendly fast service is the norm. Live music every night with special events all the time. chack the web sight for more day to day specials and local bands !!$

Best cocina find on my trip so that I went twice!

By T D |

We found this little jewel when using Google to find the best Mexican restaurant in the area. There is more "outdoor " seating versus indoor seating. On our second visit after Happy Hour was over, there was really great live music. The food was delicious, filling, and not expensive. Our waitress, Caressa, was so awesome! She introduced us to their margarita with CBD infused honey and Grand Mariner. So good!!!

When You Want To Go Off The Beaten Path...

By Malcolm M |

Sancho's is one of those great San Antonio neighborhood places you hear about. It's got character (and characters) inside and out from all walks of life. Do yourself a favor and swing by for an after work drink and relax with some cool live music and something to munch on!

Authentic and spicy

By ray t |

Really great place. Different but cozy. Restaurant is casual, live music, bar, accept major credit card. Very reasonable prices. Simple menu, but found the food to be great! I would say it's like upscale Mexican street food, presented as tapas. The bar tender is friendly. Sat at the bar to eat and listen to the music. Outside seating and roof top too. This was an old house converted to a restaurant. Love this place and highly recommend it. If you like spicy, this is the place for you! Great job guys, you have a great thing going. Suggested by a local (my co worker) very cool place to hang out.

My visit

Bad Bad Customer Service and Quality

By Crockett G |

Show this email on your phone for a Buy One Get One Free Lunch (one per customer. Good Monday-Friday, 11:30am-4pm) This was emailed to me from their website when you signup for specials. I live and work in the neighborhood. I like to try and support businesses around me. Support the cause. When we arrived no greeting, we greeted the server. She seemed lost, not much energy. Told her our first time here and I have this email. She looked at it and said ok. The menu is light, mainly tacos. We had questions but she didn’t know. Ordered chicken tacos and she returned said they’re out of chicken. Very limited choices. Tacos are tiny. There ok but the chips and salsa better. Server liven up over time. When I asked for the bill I said do you need to see the email again. Said no. Brings the receipt with zero discount. She says they’re telling her we didn’t order off the lunch menu. Our first time, how are we going to know the lunch menu and what qualifies. Reason we showed email up front. Thought I was making things easy. And it tells you to show the server. So we ask for her manager. Here comes this little guy with a big hoop earring in his lip ready to spar. He keeps saying the same thing over and over. We didn’t order from the lunch menu. How does a new guest know what your lunch menu looks like. And we showed her the email. Finally he does what’s right and removes one of the lunch items. But he wasn’t happy. Walked away pissed. Didn’t have to be like this. Honor what you’re emailing new customers and wow with service. With this unprofessional attitude, you’ll never see myself or anyone I come into contact with. Tried to reach out to the owner twice but no reply. Reason I’m writing this to warn all. If owner was solid and cared, this would of never happened. People make all the difference. Good and Bad. Imagine he’s like his staff. Unprofessional and customer not #1. Probably why we were the only ones there during lunch time. If you’re looking for quality and caring service. This ain’t it. Learn from my experience. Save your money and disappointment.

1st visit but not my last

Stumbled upon this cool spot after a long week of meetings. The place was super clean and service was excellent! The person waiting on me made me feel like I was a regular and I was very impressed with the atmosphere/vibe. I will definitely return.

A Hidden Gem

By Jen Pine |

This place was Great! From the service to the food, drinks and music! The band was as Awesome as the Tacos!!! What a Great match! I, personally never knew this place was here, until we were invited for a drink early Friday evening. We said sure and glad we went! We arrived shortly after 5pm and shortly after, a crowd came. Seemed like a Good time to get there. Parking was not an issue when we arrived. You can sit inside or out, upstairs or downstairs! You’ve got to try this spot out! A space for anyone to enjoy. I heard a dog, but never saw one. They are dog friendly though! That’s a plus. So about those tacos! We ordered the Picadillo tacos and the Camarón tacos, both were delicious! Three Small flavorful tacos each, that will definitely have you coining back for more! Wait until you taste the The Jalapeño sauce... it was Ammmazing! Had my taste buds rising for more! Our waiter was Chris and he was On point with the service! Great Job Chris!

Great food, drinks and service!!

It was the great experience trifecta. We had good food and drink specials were right up our alley. The waitress we had was prompt and friendly. I never had an empty glass. Pretty chill atmosphere as well. I will definitely recommend this to friends and family!!

Music, michiladas and street tacos!

By TexasSAgirl |

I've been coming to Sancho's Cantons since say one and it keeps adding more to its menu. They only serve Mexican beers so don't ask for a Budweiser or a Miller Lite; its all Mexican cervesas. They serve food early for lunch at 11 am and pretty late in the evenings into the mornings on weekends. Tacos pastor, carnitas, bistec, pork belly, vegan with homemade tortillas and the best pickled red onions. They have a full menu online. Live music 7days a week and an awesome open Mic every Tuesday so bring the instruments. Its not a huge place because its a cantons so don't get frustrated if its packed. Also if you pay be card they do hold $10 for purchases under $30 so don't be angry. They do have an ATM onsite so you can get cash out to pay. Just have fun.

Relaxed dinner & drinks before a Spurs game!

By Traveler193037 |

We were on our way downtown from the suburbs for a Spurs game. We wanted to eat before the game and happened upon Sanchos, cool place with a great atmosphere. We had their fish tacos and they were great!

Air Force Graduation

By camdenmom |

Great little gem. Outdoor eating and seating. We had chicken nachos, tacos carnitas and loved it. Pricing was very reasonable. If you can climb spiral steps, eat on the roof top!

Great Cantina!

By Dominic23 |

One of my favorite cantina/neighborhood bars in town. Fun, laid back, casual atmosphere with friendly service. To me, the food is a bonus, great for Sunday Funday. They also have live bands often. Try their margaritas. Great times.

Chill place for a beer and tasty tacos

By bluerivet |

I was in San Antonio on a business trip and a friend that is a local recommended this place. Great recommendation! I stopped by for a late night beer and tacos and sat at the bar. I was solo and felt comfortable just chilling at the bar and workers made me feel welcome and took care of me. Tacos were so tasty I wound up coming back the next night to eat here again!

Sunday Funday

By Linda E |

Great music out in patio on a Sunday afternoon. Good appetizers and cold drinks. Good atmosphere with attentive waitresses. Will be coming back soon

"The best neighborhood catina, away from the hustle & bustle

By Single Traveler |

Sancho's has a small bar area; plenty of outside seating - backyard style & a covered rooftop stage area....complete with stage. This place serves great drinks - a SOL chaser recommended, small portions when it comes to food offerings, but tasty. Ideal place to chill with a cool breeze & a distant view of the San Antonio skyline.

Sam is a damn legend!

By Jace D |

Cannot rave enough about this place! Sam, the owner, put so much care into the food, the staff and musicians he hires, the community, the earth. Its truly a wonder to behold and be cherished as a shining example of how a business should be run. Go get a taco and a beer, it won’t disappoint!

Eclectic crowds, chill and fun atmosphere...

By Becky K |

The atmosphere is chill most evenings. It's a great place to check out local original artists and artists passing through. Some times on Mondays you can catch Los Sancheros a group of friends who play for fun. Tuesday nights open mic is growing with a wide range of talent from rock, rap, poetry, even comedy acts. If you love the blues, Wednesday night is Ruben V. and Friday is usually West Kings Highway, a fun band that blends Americana and Jazz. Sunday Funday is the best with sunny weather and DJs playing anything from surf music to rockabilly. The food is fresh, local, sustainable and always delicious... I recommend the Shrimp or Sausage balls and NACHOS!! The food tends to be on the spicy side. The margaritas are great and come in a variety of flavors. Mexican beer is what you'll find... as this is a Cantina... No bud light here... lol Great place to chill and meet new people.

My favorite place

By Olivia N |

The food and service is great! The sweetest people and place. The drinks are cold and food different and delicious. Different live music every night.

Great food, amazing margaritas, great service

By Christina T |

Googled tacos San Antonio, google did not disappoint. My margarita on the rocks was so good. All the food we got (family of four, w/ 2 teenagers) was so delicious. Highly recommend the croquetas de camaron and the torta de pollo.

Great vibe and food in local bar

By sophiodling |

Went here with my husband and 3 year old daughter in the evening. A great place with live music and good atmosphere. One of the owners Sam was a wonderful host and the music gave it a great vibe. There was a duet then a jazz band, wish we could’ve stayed longer to hear more. I ate the tacos which were delicious, home made tortillas were perfect, and the ingredients were really fresh and tasty. The serving size was great too, 3 tacos was the ideal amount for me, as American serving sizes are quite large, this was a nice change! Highly recommend this place, has a few different seating areas as well as a rooftop area with a big screen. Nice setting and a great local experience in San Antonio Texas.

Great place to hang out!

By Susan M |

This is such a great place to hang out, listen to good bands, and have some good food and drinks! Love the atmosphere here! You forget you where you are! Love the rooftop view!

Sancho's is Nice

By Cris H |

We went to Sancho's with the church today and had a nice lunch. The vegan tacos are good. You can dine indoors or outdoors.

Fun bar, live music, good tequila menu, bad parking situation

By travelerjessicas |

This is a great little dive bar. Food is served on paper or styrofoam plates, but it's plentiful and tasty. The tequila menu has lots of options. No cover charge and they have live bands. Lots of seating available outside and upstairs, though the interior is small. Parking is a bit of a maze and hassle, but that was the only drawback.

Girls night

By Linda E |

Music and atmosphere is great! Beers are cold and waitresses are attentive. The food 👎🏼I have been there 3 times and will keep coming back, but will dine somewhere else. Food quality not good and presentation is awful. I’ve had food all three times to give it a try but nope not happening again. I will be back for the bands and music.

Very cheap and very casual

By Subhajit Bharadwaj |

Good food.limited menu..drinks are cheap.ambience is kool but not formal dining at all.not upscale but can eat upstairs carrying u r food

Great food and casual hang out.

By alexed85 |

Really great spot just north of downtown San Antonio. The frozen margaritas are great and they provide different flavor options for you. They only serve mexican beer but they carry a nice variety and there is a full bar for the liquor drinkers. The food is excellent and locally sourced. Plus they make everything in house. Nachos are my favorite! They also have a few vegetarian/vegan options which is pretty awesome. The atmosphere is very laid back and the service is friendly. They also have some great live music.

Awesome find!!

By MV2754 |

This little gem was an awesome find. By far my new favorite place in San Antonio!! The tacos are amazing and the perfect serving size. The staff was super friendly and fun. The live music is an added bonus and the band was terrific. I'm huge on cleanliness and an attentive staff and this place does not disappoint! I highly recommend going and can't wait for my next visit!!

Great place!!!

Sancho's

By angela52insa |

Great place! We enjoyed delicious food, a couple of good margaritas (it WAS National Margarita Day), and a great band! We will frequent this place and have fun doing it!

Cantina!!!

By MICHELLE G |

Sanchos...what a great spot just north of Downtown San Antonio. All Mexican beer, Negro Modelo on tap!, and the BEST frozen margaritas. Full bar as well, with great whisky and tequila and specials daily. The food is great too....street tacos are my favorite, but the shrimp balls, all shrimpy and cheesy, are really good and cooled down with a nice tequila. Music of all types happen regularly. The crowd? Hell, last Friday there were attorneys, cyclists, students, locals, locos, young, old...all at Sanchos Cantina. See for yourself...get there early for a great Happy Hour and watch the sunset from the big deck on the roof.

Hidden Gem near The Cove

By Ledezma R |

Had dinner earlier at The Cove only to realize we should've just stayed and walked over to Sanchos for a night cap & snack. Intimate without feeling crowded. Casual but cool. Good live music without any additional costs (i.e.: no cover or fee for live music). Cool bar but the food, wow, legitimately authentic street Mexican food. I was pleasantly surprised when we ordered tacos as a snack and got an entire meal complete with rice & beans that was delicious and reasonably priced. This is what San Antonio, heck what Texas is about, good food, good drinks, good friends, southern hospitality and a cool & casual environment! Don't leave San Antonio without stopping in for a drink, food, music or all three!

All GOOD!

By angela52insa |

I love this place! Their food is delicious. Having tried several things on the menu, I've liked them all, but the empanadas are my favorite! The margaritas are excellent. Great live music, always fun! Servers and bartenders are always pleasant and are part of what makes this such a great place. Love me some Sanchos!

A Gem of a restaurant and bar

By Richard Z |

This is a quaint little place, old school vibes, very intimate but pet and family friendly. Outdoor and indoor seating and stages for live music, including the upstairs area. Food is very good and the service was spot on. Our waitress was very busy, but never forget about us. Our dinner order was served promptly and well prepared and delicious. The carnitas taco plate was awesome and I highly recommend it. Drinks are available and not so expensive. The show was Professor Under Funk and he and his band put on a great show. A great experience for me and my friends. Definitely recommend this establishment!
