Outstanding food and a great location!

By Jim d |

Noted for their fish tacos this eatery did not disappoint! Fabulous food. Our server Brian was outstanding! Highly recommend!

Very good breakfast and great service

By Pellaz |

Dropped by Sandbar for breakfast (they serve on Sat until noon) - had the huevos rancheros - which were very good. The friend was with had the breakfast quesadilla and thought it was great too. Service was spot on. I'd recommend Sandbar. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the view and a breeze. BTW - there is a full service bar upstairs too.

Tacos and Beer

By CocoaBeachFoodEE |

The good thing was my 20year old son was surfing, otherwise, I'd would have not ate here: 21 or older only! I had one shredded pork and one fish taco, Baha style, and both rocked, but go for the fish! Oh so yummy. Beer cold. The view from top deck is worth the walk up the stairs. My tab was just under $30 (tip not included) for a 2 tacos plate and two Coronas. A tad on the expensive side, but worth it considering the location being a tourist destination.

Lunch

By James A |

Was walking past and stopped for lunch sat upstairs facing the sea, great view. Had excellent WiFi. Menu is small but with some decent options had the burger and fish tacos big portions taste and not expensive. Service was a bit slow but overall very good would go stand recommend

Great tacos

By Erik P |

The carnitas tacos were excellent. The fish ones were ok, but I would go with the carnitas. Great service

Fish taco

By Reslimpan |

Voted as best fish taco place and they didn’t disappoint. The taco was perfect. Great, meaty fish, dressed up perfectly with tasty accessories. The carnitas taco was incredible as well. Great selection of beers. The service was ok as well.

Best Tacos

By Rob B |

They advertise best tacos, and they're not kidding. Had the chicken and beer, both great. Great atmosphere, right on strip and TVs all over with sports. Have upstairs outdoor patio as well, very cool. Staff were great, even the guy at the door checking IDs came to talk to us and helped the waitress.

Fun evening on the roof

By Charlotte R |

Wonderful rooftop dining with a view of the ocean and Belmont Park. Great staff and great food. We ordered fish and chips and the sauces that came with that were great. Also Ordered TKO fish tacos on a 2 taco plate. The chips, salsa and avacado were great. The beans were runny and needed salt. The Fish tacos were very good with lots of good fish inside and onion strings and sauces. Great evening

Great Food

By lovemexico2002 |

Great food for a reasonable price. Great atmosphere. Service was very good. Love how the front is all open.

Friendly and great food

By Ashley Anderson |

Tacos were amazing. Mojito and margarita were both great. Staff was also very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is 21+ so it's a great place for couples.

Manmosa = Magnifique

By Bacibosco |

Delicious tacos. Drinks were huge pours and very refreshing. Service was attentive, genuine and spot on.

Great Bar for Food and Wine

By Michael W |

The Sandbar is located on Mission Drive not too far from Mission Beach. There is internal seating and an external screened seating area downstairs and a rooftop bar and seating area. The staff were welcoming and very friendly and the best thing here is you do not get hassle about where you should sit. We chose to sit at an external table and ordered some food and drinks. The food and drink arrived in a reasonable time and were both enjoyable. We asked for two white wines and ere surprised when we were presented with the house white wine which came in cans. The wine was very nice in fact too nice and we had several and ended up extremely drunk. Great Night and a Great Bar.

Awesome tacos

By IdaStokkelien |

My and my friends went here to try some tacos. My friends had the avocado taco, and they talk about how delicious it was all the time. I ended up with the nachos, which also was really tasty. The nachos plate is huge, so you can easily share it.

Absolutely worst breakfast I've ever had in a restaurant!

By Ehochuli |

I ordered a simple breakfast – 2 scrambled eggs, and an English muffin. The scrambled eggs were obviously poured out of a carton. They were clearly not fresh eggs scrambled on the grill. The English muffin was barely toasted and was room temperature. I tried to put butter on it, and it didn’t melt in the least. so I asked if they could reheat it. frankly, I assumed they’d bring me a new English muffin, this time making it hot and toasted. No dash she took my old one to heat it up. When it came back, it was a little browner, but it still wasn’t hot, and now it was rubbery. You cannot reheat bread. (It appeared to have been reheated in a microwave, but they claim they don’t have a microwave). In any event, it was inedible.

Fish Tacos!

By Astraguy |

Ok, the place looks like a basic dive bar, but the food is pretty darn good! We loved the fish tacos and the breakfast burrito was great also. Service is at least OK. We didn’t try the booze, so we can’t comment on that.

Best grilled fish tacos TKO style

By Roxanne G |

Best grilled fish taco TKO style I’ve ever had! Highly recommend eating here. Most wines are in a can so know you are not getting homemade ingredients with words “sangria, house wine”. It was good though the can of “house wine”. Two very full pours.

The TKO Tacos were to die for

By Monica M |

We ate at the Sandbar three times when we were in Mission Beach and we got the TKO style tacos each time because they were just that good. Totally worth a trip to try them. Beer selection was good too!

Great beach views, rooftop bar, and friendly staff.

By PATTAYJAY |

Ate here on our first night in San Diego. This place has a dress code, so don't expect to be able to stroll in wearing beach wear. The patio has a few tables on the patio for you to be able to enjoy the beach view (came here around sunset and it was absolutely beautiful). Was not able to check out the rooftop bar, but seemed to get a lot of traffic for a Wednesday night, and even watched a few people get kicked out from there which was pretty entertaining, and nice to know that the staff takes these measures. Our server was friendly and attentive, we really felt taken care of at this place. The food selection has your average fries, wings, etc. My boyfriend really enjoyed the fish tacos and would recommend it (in fact the reason we made the trip up to Mission Beach).

awesome place to watch NFL games

By Shanker B |

we went in at 9:45 AM today - Great location - literally on Mission Beach - with a parking lot right opposite - we were hear to watch the Panthers play the Seahawks - we were seated immediately. Lots of TVs to watch the games. Service was excellent and friendly. The caramel cold coffee was great. The pretzel bites were great. The Nachos were some of the best we have ever had. The Avocado tacos were okay. The K8 Burrito was again one of the best burritos we have ever had. Washed it down with a couple of Sandbar Blonde Ales. Amazing sports bar, great food and great service and vibes. And all of it was extremely budget friendly

Fantastic fish tacos and perfect location

By Sara B |

We walked in here for lunch while we were at Mission Beach for the afternoon. This place is right by the beach. It has a great ambiance, many TVs for sports watching, and the best fish tacos I have ever eaten. Looks like there is a rooftop bar they open up at times as well. Highly recommend!

Really good

By Missccas |

Had the fish tacos with fried fish and one with shrimp. Everything was well prepared and tasty. Nice staff, relaxed and authentic atmosphere.

Wonderful lunch

By lucycan |

Newer place. There are outside tables on the sidewalk, inside tables and bar on first level and shaded tables and bar on 2nd level. 2nd level is the place to be. Views of the ocean and surrounding area. TVs on both levels. We went for lunch and had tacos (excellent) and the chicken sandwich (quite good). Family friendly. It looks like this place becomes a bit rowdy at night. Service was the best we've had in a while. We will be back!

Visited twice very good

By Mojorobinson |

When we arrived this was the first resturant when arrived in San Diego we had the breakfast and then later on we went back and the lovely lady who served us was so helpful we were wondering about a shared meal of fish and chips and bless her she actually did them seperatly for us. Thank you worth a visit.

Great Food...Didn’t Realize It Was A Bar!

By JohnnyandBetty |

Had lunch after a wonder walk by the water on Mission Bay. I chose this restaurant due to the view from the top deck. I did not realize it was a bar until I pick d up the menu and there were limit food choices. I ordered the fish and chips with a side of coke slaw. The food was fantastic! Servers were good and the view was perfect

Great fish tacos and great service!

By Ray B |

Great service from the minute we walked in the door. Good selection of local draft beers. Fish tacos were as good as the reviews that brought us here. Spicy guacamole was fantastic! Not a lot of outside room but the food and service makes up for it.

Pretentious

By BixbyCat |

My wife (27) and I (29) tried to visit here for some food at about 1830, however we were turned away as we 'only' had our UK driving licenses when we apparently needed a UK passport (been in US 2+ weeks and never needed passport). We even had photos of our passports but they wouldn't even let us in for food. Ended up in 'Draft' down the road and had great food and beer. Avoid.

Close by the boardwalk

By lifeis2goodtimes |

The server was friendly and helped by making a low calorie margarita which was pretty good. The taco plate was ok. It boasts that it has the best tacos in San Diego but it wasn't the best. We shared a shrimp taco plate that had 2 tacos but when it arrived there was only the corn tortilla and a few shrimp with some greenery on top. I was expecting some shredded cabbage or more filling besides just the shrimp. The guacamole was really good but the beans were more like a soup. It would be a nice place to sit and have drinks.I would come here for happy hour but not for lunch. It didn't deliver any wow factor. Dive bar for sure and very casual. Asked for water to 2 servers and never got them.

Great drinks

By scrappyws |

The drinks were inexpensive for a beach bar. the bartender was really nice. We asked about their personal labeled tequila and she gave us a taste. The fish tacos are great and made from locally caught fish. My husband had a hamburger and it was excellent!

Nice second floor outside area

By JinCollegeHill |

Came here to watch the games and stayed for dinner. Great place to watch the games and the tacos were great too.

Great Bar

By LisanneValente |

We stopped here for a beer but couldn’t resist ordering the nachos. Oh my, they were delicious ... and Huge! We ordered one plateful as we we just wanted a nibble with the beer and it served four of us! Covered in sour cream, tomatoes, cheese, steak and guacamole, it was an easy task to finish these delicious nibbles and they were very filling. The bar is open air, as well as inside tables with large tv screens showing all kinds of sport, from football to baseball. It has a great atmosphere, the servers are helpful and happy. We went back again the following day and ordered two plates of mission nachos. It has a wide selection of beers, cocktails and ales, a great choice for any palet if you’re like me and tea total the barman will attempt to make a virgin cocktail, mine was delicious.

Awesome Tacos

By Sheri H |

Stopped in for lunch and my husband and I ordered tacos. I had the carne asada (steak) and he had grilled whitefish. Be sure to order them tko style. They were absolutely fabulous!!! Will definitely be back. The staff was super nice and helpful with the menu.

Adult bar and grill

By Barb R |

We have been to Sandbar many times and it doesn't disappoint. Food selections are huge and very good, the bloody Marys are well worth the trip

Passport for fish tacos?!

By Laura H |

After hearing this was a good place to get fish tacos we stopped by after an afternoon on the beach to try them out. We were asked by the door staff for photo ID which we provided in the form of our UK driving license cards. To which we were told that they weren’t an acceptable form of ID and asked did we not have our passports with us??.... needless to say we did not have our passports in our bag for a day on the beach!! We had planned to have a late lunch (around 3:30) with a glass of water......however we were turned away...... I understand the legal drinking age is 21 years and that ID is required however it seems ridiculous to have to show a passport for fish tacos!! Be warned future visitors, take your passports if you want to eat here!

Fish tacos

By Kai C |

Fish tacos are just what the reviews say: fantastic. I had their Street and TKO versions with avocado - absolutely delicious. You can sit outside on the patio or inside. Excellent service, nice ambient. I am planning to visit again tomorrow.

Wish we had gone earlier in our trip!

By CLS1108 |

It always seems you discover the best places the last day of a trip. The tacos here were fantastic!!! We had the TKO fish taco, beach fish taco, and the fried avocado taco. All were great! We even ordered more. Our daughter had chicken tenders and loved them (and she is a picky eater). Service was fast and staff were very friendly. Would have gone back if we had a chance, but had to head home.

Outstanding

By Claire C |

We tried this place on a whim and was super pleased with the TKO fish sandwich and TKO burger!!! Super delicious and we definitely understood why they had won best in San Diego. Service was friendly, atmosphere was comfortable and right by Belmont Park and the beach. We would recommend stopping in.

Top notch fish tacos!

By Foodie g |

I love when you find a place that has killer fish tacos and the sandbar has them! TKO style is off the charts. I'm not going to say the were the best I have ever had, but wow they were tasty and cheap. Our bartender Justin was fantastic. He gave us the low down on the tacos and the killer tequila selection they have. Highly recommend trying this hip joint out.

Good spirits and tasty food!!

By momm3y |

Great service, great tasty food, we had the hamburger, fries, and wings, also the chips with soyrizo, yummy yummy! Everything was good! We went 2 days in a row, went on st. Pattys day! Had a blast, waitresses were always smiling!

Great Food and Beach Vibe

By MtnMarianne |

Discovered this place on side road between beach and the giant rollercoaster. Upstairs, you can sit along bar and have an unobstructed view. We ordered the Diablo Burger and the San Diego Style Carne Asada Taco. Both were in the top 5 of the best we've had.

The place for fish tacos!

By CanadianAmericanGirl |

Like most reviews say, the fish tacos are awesome. We had the TKO and street kinds. Both were excellent. We shared the fried jalapeños/calamari, also very good. Loved the sauces they came with. Service was friendly but very slow. We were seated at least 20 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. Another 10-15 to take our food order. Once we placed the order, the food came at a reasonable time. The place was busy, but not overly packed. They should get more help to help with the service.

Quick and Delicious

By Dimpuhhls |

10/10 Bacon Cheeseburger ! The bun is so delicious and even though I like my patty well done this one was so juicy!!! Which is so rare . My boyfriend got the al pastor award winning style and he also says 10/10

Great food and service

By Michael C |

Great spot to watch the game and grab a good lunch or dinner near the beach. The TKO tacos and fish and chips were excellent. Friendly staff and exceptional service !!!

Yum!

By Debbie F |

We were at this bar today because we could hear the buzz of the people already in there eating so thought we’d give it a try and we are glad we did ! 2 of us ordered the tacos and true to the sign - ( best in San Diego ) they are the best they had had ! I ordered the buffalo wings and they were delicious full size wings. We shared a huge nacho dish which was a great way to start our meal . We all very much enjoyed all that we ordered . Service was ok - The food for sure made up for it as did the amazing view ! Debbie and Mike

Tasty tacos and marvelous mission nachos!

By Apsleybabe4 |

This became our favourite haunt during free time in San Diego when we wanted cold beer and fast, tasty food. The staff are very friendly and it was very flattering to be asked to prove my age as I'm more than double the minimum age to buy alcohol! They boast that their tacos are the best in San Diego and I wouldn't contradict - we tried the white fish, braised caritas, grilled chicken and saluted shrimp - all were delicious. The house salads were very generous, the bowls of nachos were almost too good to share. Breakfast burritos made it worth getting out of bed before noon!

No passport, no entry

By UAiEs |

My boyfriend and I were having an amazing day at the beach and went for a walk to find a place to eat. We saw the menu from outside and looked quite good so we went to the door looking for a table. The security guy did not let us in because we didn't have our passports with us! I showed him my driving license and my ID so that he could see I was over 21 but apparently it wasn't enough. There was a game on TV so I am guessing they didn't want not american people in there. That's the way we felt because, who on earth brings the passport to the beach to be able to go for lunch? Travelers, don't go to this grill bar!

Be Sure To Try The Sandbar!

By Karen S |

Absolutely great service and the best fish and shrimp tacos I have ever eaten. Duke's in Hawaii has always been the best, but now it it is the Sandbar.

Good fish tacos

By Tannis T |

We stayed close by here so could walk. Enjoyed this fun bar style restaurant. Are tables outside but were full, but the big garage doors were open so felt like the whole thing was outdoors. I had the Beach Style Fish Tacos which were very, very good. We had ordered nachos for an appetizer so the waitress said I probably only needed to order one fish taco. But I wish we had bypassed the nachos and had more fish tacos! My husband had the buffalo chicken salad and unfortunately did not enjoy it as the taste of the dressing was odd. Good friendly service and reasonable prices

Happy Hour $4 A La Carte Tacos

By Clark J |

After spending some time walking down Mission Beach in the late afternoon, I decided to try one of the non-chain local eateries. Really happy I selected Sandbar Sportsbar & Grill. Immediately sitting down I was greeted by one of three different people who asked if I needed anything. Great service. The waitress told me that it was happy hour and they were doing their $4 a la carte tacos, which I got two of. Ordered a Beach style and TKO style taco and told the waitress to just surprise me with either grilled and/or baja style local white fish for the protein. Both were absolutely delicious. Paired it with a Mango Clawjito for a great dinner while watching some NCAA Basketball.

Great food and atmosphere

By Glen D |

They claim to have the best tacos... I’d have to agree with them. Food is amazing and the rooftop seating offers some great views. Been here before and will be coming back

AMAZING!

By Jolene B |

It's not very often that I say AMAZING about food but in this case I have to. I ordered the carnitas taco TKO style with the guac on the side because I can't find guac that I like...ever. It was spicy guacamole and was absolutely to die for! I hadn't even tasted my taco yet! When I got done raving about the guac to my friend, I tasted the taco and WOW! This place has amazing food. The only downside was the service was a little slow. But for this food I'm ok with that!

Good lunch

By swiss_globetrotter86 |

We came here for a hangover lunch - the burgers & wraps were very good. Plenty of it. I would recommend to get those potato croquette things instead of french fries. The waitress was really nice and friendly and made sure we left the bar feeling much better then when we entered.

On the beach

By Melinda S |

Went in because they promised awesome fish tacos but sadly we were not impressed with the tacos as we had hoped. Our order was missing whole meal when we took food home. Service wasn’t bad and the upper view was great to see the beach.

Really bad fly problem

By Ashbrooks |

Not to downplay the food which was really good.. the flies on the deck made it very hard to enjoy.. Had to cover my meal with a napkin! Great view tho and Nice servers

Wonderful tacos!

By Mackenzie M |

Sandbar is located in the Belmont Park area, which was very close to our condo and within view of Mission Beach. The food was excellent. We had the fish tacos and they were top notch. Highly recommended.

Great Fish Tacos

By Mike B |

They were voted best Fish Tacos in San Diego and I couldn't agree more. Two of us had the fish tacos - TKO style. They were awesome. The best Fish Tacos I've ever had. They have some heat as does the salsa. I put the salsa on the Tacos - fabulous. The chips were crispy and done right. They have lots of beer but stay away from the margarita drinks. The amount you get for the price is not a value. Even with that I would definitely recommend this place 100%.

Best....Nachos....EVER!

By doeadeer666 |

Never miss visiting this restaurant/bar. Upstairs outdoor seating with ocean views. The Carnita Nachos are SO GOOD.

Taco Tuesday

By lambert425 |

This place is the best!! So glad it is open again.TKO tacos are excellent. Every time I visit San Diego I try to stop in on Tuesdays.

Fish Taco

By trsos |

They said they were voted best fish taco in San Diego and I can see why. It was no exaggeration. If you want fantastic food and drink right by the beach, look no further. A definite must stop.

Yes they are the best fish tacos

By Billy |

Ate there for lunch but came back again for dinner to try to fish tacos. I can see why everyone calls them the best.

Nice View

By pfmiller1037 |

Went there to watch a football game. No game day food specials. Drinks are expensive, but a cool place.

Great Food and Great Price...

By PBDubsy |

The TKO tacos are delicious and the best I have had so far in all of my travels to San Diego...The Burger patty was also very good and not like your usual restaurant minced meat and filler patty...The price was surprisingly low for the amount of food given and the location of this place...Make it a point to go here when in the area...

Awesome fish tacos!!

By Sue |

Test your margarita skills on the margarita mixing bike on the rooftop bar! Fish tacos, guacamole, salsa, and chips are all awesome, too!

Free shots for the workers

By Glenn W |

When you see half of the bar staff doing shots with each other makes you wonder why the bar manager or bar owner doesn’t recognize they’re eating into his profit maybe instead of having the cameras pointed towards the customers they should have it pointed behind the bar $36 for four beers and then the time we were there we saw the bartenders probably drink over $100 in booze

Sandbar Fish Tacos are the best!!

By Cheechatthebeach |

Sandbar is the best! Great views, friendly staff and amazing tacos! I always order one fish taco (sandbar style) and one shrimp taco and I am NEVER disappointed. The rest of the menu is good too. Its always a good time at Sandbar, whether its Sunday football (Go Chargers!), Monday night Karaoke, Taco Tuesday, Dancing on the Weekends or just chilling on the deck upstairs on a sunny afternoon. Matt is a really great manager who always makes us feel welcome and he is so accommodating helping us plan events at Sandbar. Also, some of the nicest bartenders at the beach: Thanks Bryan, Becca, Alika, Samson and Brandon!

Try the Breakfast Shot!

By KimPossibleMiami |

We stopped by for a quick lunch on a Friday afternoon and were delightfully surprised by EVERYTHING... the food, the service, and the drinks. A big shout out to John who was awesome! Super friendly and had great recommendations. I highly recommend trying the breakfast shot. It was amazing... whiskey and butterscotch schnapps in one glass, and orange juice in another plus a slice of BACON! We even went back for a second shot before leaving the beach. We also shared Juan's street tacos and they were really, really good.

Trip from MN

By Angie G |

Had the shrimp TKO tacos based on servers suggestions. Also steak salad. Service was fantastic, food was delicious! I’d definitely recommend!!

Very good

By VickiD |

Both had salads - chicken fiesta and steak --and both were very good. Just the right amount of dressing and very tasty. Wait staff was friendly from the minute we stepped in until we walked out very full of their delicious food.

Good food & a high energy environment!

By loihop |

We stopped in on a Friday at about 1 in the afternoon. There was a lot of 20 somethings & a few older groups. We ordered fish tacos & the grilled chicken sandwich. The sandwich was very good, but the fish tacos were excellent! The place filled up & the music & volume increased. It was a nice crowd & a lot of fun. Captain Morgan was there with his "crew". Young women who were handing out very small samples of Captain Morgan and lip balm with the slogan "Suns out / Rums out". We would stop here again.

Great find

By Steve D |

Prices were excellent. We had the nachos which were very good. Sat up stairs and had a view of the roller coaster. Couple of drinks and some apps.... We spent less than $40.

Great beach bar

By Dan O |

I spent 5 days in the San Diego area & with so many options to eat & drink I found myself at Sandbar 4 times. Very good food & outstanding service.

Fun everytime!!

By Ali B |

We loved the friendly, efficient service. Good drinks, good food & Kereoke by Wally on Mondays. Rooftop seating. Needs a bigger ladies room!!

Great fish tacos

By Joel R |

This is the second time I’ve eaten here, after a long beach run. It’s a great location, right off Mission Beach. Two of their special fish tacos was enough, and they’re very tasty.

Yummy Burgers, Nice Beer/Tequila Selection

By HeatherWa62 |

This was our first San Diego dining experience and it did not disappoint. We both had burgers that were cooked to our specifications and were very tasty and big. The rolls were flavorful and the fries were very good. It was beer week in San Diego so my husband enjoyed the expanded selection. The ambience was sports bar friendly. Only downside was the seating. All the chairs are the high bar stool type where your feet don't touch the floor. I find these very uncomfortable so I stood most the time, which was fine after a 5 hour flight.

2 words: Fish Tacos!

By Brit |

We were told this place has the best fish tacos. I LOVE fish tacos so naturally we had to go see. They definitely rival the others I have had in San Diego and Rocky Point and we had to come back a second time! WORTH IT! Also the tequila flights are to die for. Literally I think you could die they are so good and you want to try them all. Great place to watch the sunset from the upper deck just watch the stairs after all that tequila. Really enjoyed it here and cant wait to come back!

Great food

By jkzoo |

Okay this place says it was voted number one for fish tacos in San Diego bit o don't do fish tacos. Did we had fish and chips and spicy chicken appetizers and tjeu5 were great. So of you like fish tacos, I'm betting this place really does have the best ones one san diego. Check it out.

A Mission Must

By Natalie Preston |

This local bar captures the ambience of a vibrant, hip crowd! You can enjoy Mission Beach's fresh air by sitting on the front patio while sipping on tasty cocktails or choose to relax inside the pub or join the risk-takers on the roof in the bar's beergarten. Either way, you'll enjoy the scenery! While there, my friends and I ordered their famous tacos and fish and chips coupled with their refreshing green beer (I mean it was St. Paddy's Day). The beer is great and the food was on point. Personally, I was thoroughly impressed with the hand-battered fish and fresh cut chips. This is a great place to stop by if you are in the area or planning to be.

Another place on the strand to have a taco and beer.

By azcheesefan |

The place has two levels to sit and people watch across the street from the park. Bring extra money because the drinks and food are expensive. The 4 taco plates were $50. The 4 drinks were $35. The service was slow and we watched as the server talked to other employees and then decided to help us. The food and drink was good just over priced. I will not go back to eat at this local hot spot as we were told.

Totally awesome!

By tommyinportland |

This is a great place to have nice cold beers and burgers, watch games on the tube, outstanding bloody marys! You can see everything goin' on the beach and then some. The view is great.

Great Fish Tacos

By R1KCX |

One day I'll remember that portion sizes are enough for two people. This wasn't an exception. Great little bar next to Belmont Park. The fish tacos, prizewinning, were fantastic. My wife chose a shrimp wrap. Huge. Drop in for drinks, food or both. Friendly staff make this a gear place to go!

Great fish tacos!

By BurgerBob88 |

One of the best place to have a fish taco in San Diego. The ingredients ar very tasty, you have to put the avocado in all of them! They are spectacular!

Great food , Fish tacos , slow service

By Ramesh A |

Just closer to Belmont Park and to the beach, this place sells some of the great fish tacos. The parking lot is a tricky situation at this place as there is a public parking opposite and very tough to find. They do have indoor and outdoor seating come up we selected to do the indoor seating. Once you reach the front, you will be greeted and provide a seating. They do have an ATM machine inside the restaurant, and they do serve lcoholic drinks. The menu is kept simple for lunch easy to order and I ordered fish taco combo. I ordered one fried fish and one grilled fish taco , and the grill fish taco tasted delicious . The prices are definitely high for the portions. I felt hungry after finishing taco and ordered some more food and fries. But the taste of the food is phenomenal and one of the best fish tacos I had. The service is a little slow, but overall a great experience will definitely visit this place again.

Best fish tacos!!

By JetSetter |

The fish tacos here are the absolute best I've ever had...in all my life. Baja and grilled fish tacos- with drink specials during happy hour- is something everyone should enjoy ash least once in their life. Check this one off of my bucket list. Thanks sandbar!

Large Portions of Delicious Food

By Debi By |

My husband got the fish tacos. The combination of sauces and fish was outstanding. I had the fish wrap with a small salad. Plenty of tasty grilled fish with veggies in the wrap. It was so filling I had to take half home. Good service.

Christmas in Mission Beach = Good times and good food!

By rebeez |

Hubby and I, in San Diego for the Christmas holidays, visited our favorite people-watching place, Mission Beach boardwalk. We debated where to have lunch, and based on reviews and proximity, chose the Sandbar Grill. We gleefully indulged in the Sandbar bacon cheeseburger as well as the fish and chips, sharing each plate, as we are wont to do. What can I say? The cheeseburger was huge! The fish, fries and tater tots were crispy, perfectly fried. We could not finish the excellent cheeseburger, although we tried! Great food, beach ambience, and a lovely waitress named Bree made this a perfect lunch. The cold beer wasn't bad either!!

Awesome food and service!

By Jessica G |

From the outside it looked like your small town bar. However the menu was wonderful, awesome prices for the amount and quality of the food. Voted the best tacos in San Diego, and I have to agree!! Service was fast and friendly. Totally recommend!!

Yummy Food and Great Happy Hour!

By ArmstrongAdventures |

We were in Mission beach for 4 days and visited this place 3 times... need I say more? Happy Hour prices are great, and the tacos are delicious every time! Tried several different tacos and none disappointed... the chips and salsa are great as well! Get a seat on the upper level for a beautiful view (especially if you're there around sunset!)

Good Beach Food and Drink

By Bosox61 |

Located a few feet from Mission Beach this beach/sports bar offers a great place to either watch the beach-goers or a sporting event on their several, large-flat screen TVs. Great bar with easily 20 different beers on draft as well as an assortment of beach drinks. We were there for lunch with two of us enjoying various flavors of their 10oz burgers and I had their chicken/avocado sandwich - no complaints from any of us. The bonus for the meal was the fresh and hot tater tots that many places no longer offer. Just a good place for a good meal and drink.

As good as ever it was

I’m biased because I love this place. The food is excellent (I crave the BAM burger and tots for months after we get home) and the staff are incredibly friendly, attentive and polite. The sunset views from the sky deck are incredible and prices are really reasonable considering the fabulous location just off the beach. I can only imagine how wild this place gets at night as we’ve only ever been in the evenings for a meal and a few drinks but the atmosphere is great every time we visit. I can’t wait to be back! Keep doing what you do because the Sandbar Grill is califabulous.

Definitely a Must for Tacos

By GMRD19 |

Came by to grab some food after seeing/hearing they had great fish tacos here. We definitely did not regret that decision. We sat at the bar and were served quickly and also quickly learned they had some great deals for taco Tuesday (including tequila which was 50% off). We tried a variety of the tacos (not just the fish) and they were amazing! Would definitely come back here when in the area again!

Tacos and location A+

By Susan O |

Tacos! Amazing tacos! Beach tacos with shrimp are our fave, but all of them are really good. Kids liked their kid meals, great location, great atmosphere, fairly fast service; not horribly expensive. Love this place!

Great food and fast service!

By krisfreemanpa |

We went two different times for lunch and dinner and the food was excellent. My only recommendation would be more space. It’s quite cramped and crowded which I guess is a good thing.

Award Winning Fish Tacos

By AlaskaScubaGirl |

We were hunting for fish tacos and beer after playing mini golf at Belmont Park. They have outdoor patios at street level and the second floor. (Upstairs was closed the afternoon we were there) We sat inside and were tried the TKO and Beach style fish tacos. We really liked the spicier TKO taco with it's cotija crusted flour tortilla, spicy guacamole, slaw, crispy onions, chipotle and lime sauces. Innovative combo with a lot going on, but it works. I can see why it won the San Diego TKO fish taco competition. The Ti-Juan-A taco was yummy too with corn tortillas, pork adobado, roasted pineapple and avocado. The beer selection is enormous. Sport bar vibe but not too loud. The service was pleasant and fast. We were pleasantly surprised and thought all the food was above average.

Great beach bar

By JohnnySox |

We went on Sunday night, they had drink specials and taco specials. I had a barbecue chicken salad and my wife got the fish tacos, both were excellent. We went back another night and it was very good food again. Friendly staff as well.

Great place for fish tacos!

By Fara B |

One of our favorite place to eat and just hang out. The fish tacos have been rated #1 in many competitions. They aren't your traditional fish tacos, but they rock! Flour tortilla with cheese crusted on the outside, good portion of grilled fish, fried onion strips and pickled slaw. People are nice and they have a fun cocktail menu too. Everything else I've tried there is good too.

Good street tacos

By denverssj |

We were down by the beach and decided to stop someplace for a quick lunch. We saw the Sandbar Grill, took a look at the menu and decided to eat there. Both my husband and I ordered several different street tacos although each of us had a carnitas taco. We both thought all of the tacos we ordered were really good, the beer was reasonable and the service was prompt and courteous.

Best watering hole in the area

By Andreas W |

Sandbar is an eclectic, noisy, modern pub with club atmosphere. Great drinks, very good service and excellent chow. It was an obvious popular taco night and the place was abuzz, with a DJ playing during dinner hours. The tacos were very good, the Philly sandwich even better. Great place for a bite and brew, slightly above the other pubs in the area. Just a heads up, despite early dinner hours patrons were ID'd, no minors allowed.

Good food / fun environment

By Bryan W |

My family ate dinner here after a day of enjoying Mission Beach. The food was good, service was weak though. We were pretty much ignored by our waiter. The atmosphere is sports bar, loud music, and fun. We sat upstairs so we had a pretty good view of Mission Beach and Belmont Park.

Great food and bar!

By Lori985 |

We sat downstairs in this airy open to the outside bar(probably should have gone upstairs for a better view.),but downstairs was food too.I got the frozen berry drink from the machine(be carful all the alcohol sinks to the bottom so the first sip from the straw is a little strong),it was very good! I got the shrimp and chips ,the shrimp was awesome along with the fries and all the dipping sauces were great!. My husband got the taco plate with pork and fish taco TKO style and they were awesome!

Good food, cold beer.

By simmons2017 |

We were looking for a place to eat while visiting Mission Beach and wanted somewhere we could sit out of the sun for a bit. We ended up at the Sandbar. We enjoyed some of there appetizers and some good local brews. The staff was friendly.

Great muscles and good service

By PajaritoOfUtah |

This place has the best muscles we have found in a while. The service was also great. If you're on Pacific beach got to try this place!

Terrific

By Jim d |

A great local pub located close to the boardwalk. Very good pub food and fun and efficient servers. Highly recommend.

Best fish tacos ever!!!

By cwkelowna |

Fish tacos are one of my favorite things to eat so I usually order them almost every place that has them...we came here based on a pamphlet that said voted best fish tacos. Wow!!! They were right totally amazing!!!. They are in a great location too right off the boardwalk so easy to get to and a pretty happening place to be. I would highly recommend a stop here if you're in the area

Really Really Good Fish Tacos and Margaritas!

By Kipp M |

Wow. Unexpectedly fantastic. Our waitress, Ashley (not sure about the spelling,) was amazing. She recommended an off menu spicy margarita of her own creation which may have been the best restaurant margarita that I have ever had. The TKO style fish tacos were so good. This place, located just off Mission Beach, is now on my San Diego rotation! Don’t miss it!

Ok Food, Strange Service

By Mimois |

It was a fun place to hang out for a few hours, as the place itself is very appealing, both upstairs on the patio, and downstairs, good for drinking and watching sports on tv. I had a fun time sipping a flight of good quality tequila followed by their melon margarita. I did think it was kind of odd that the bartender didn't seem to know what a cocktail onion was (regarding the ordering of a bloody mary). I've eaten a lot of fish tacos in my time, and these were not my favorite by a long shot. I was disappointed because they make a big deal over their fish tacos but they were bland and the fish was smelly. (Instead, I'd recommend the taco dive down the block for fish tacos, Mr. Ruriberto's.) The pulled pork sandwich was really good, and it was fun to have tater tots served on the side. The buffalo wings were kind of blah, not crunchy at all, and the side of queso dip was a strange kind of fluffy texture. Our server was a total flake. It took a long to get drinks ordered and served to us, and we were there for a long time, so she had many chances to amp it up, but no. It turns out that the security staff that served as back up servers were more efficient than she was. All the staff were friendly and cheery, and they seemed to like working together which makes a place appealing.

Great food

By Megan S |

We were walking on the beach and wanted to stop for a quick bite. We checked out the menu, and walked right in. The drinks were yummy. The fish tacos we're amazing!! And the pulled pork and tater tots were great, not spicy at all. Very good food, nice environment. I would definitely eat here again!! Yummy!!!

Better than expected

By brian w |

Did not have high expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. Burger was excellent and the steak salad was plentiful. Wine served from a can but it was good too. Waitress was nice and attentive. Reasonably priced

Fun place

By Joe K |

Good music, excellent service and best fish tacos. The craft beer selection is great. Right off the beach indoor or skydeck. Can't go wrong here.

Last minute choice for early dinner

By corky617 |

We chose Sandbar as a last minute option and were pleasantly surprised by the ease we found a table on the upper deck. The drinks took a while coming but that was because there were only two staff on initially but that changed quickly. We liked their margaritas and the food was tasty but not stunning. The fries were cool and the fish taco was a little bland but the burger I had was good. I think this is more of a bar/ drinks place as, in retrospect, the food was not the reason to come here. The service was good and the waiters friendly.

Great Fish Tacos and more!

By Becki P |

We recently spend a few days in Mission Beach. The Sandbar was within walking distance of our condo. We ate there twice and both times it was very good. Fish tacos are amazing. Staff was great as well. Would definitely recommend the Sandbar.

Excellent food!

By love2vacation38 |

Excellent breakfast tacos. Margarita was decent. Staff pretty friendly but at times seemed like we were a bother. The gal delivering food was probably the nicest.

Absolutely delicious

By Gina G |

Best fish taco I've ever had! My husband had Juana taco. It had pork, pineapple, cilantro, and more. It was outstandingly good. The servers were very quick and friendly.

The Beach, Dining and a Tall Cool one!

By Dangerous-Dan |

This place is 50 yards from the beach, 100 yards from Belmont park and has very good food and very cold drinks. Views are to die for and atmosphere is great. We were there when the were not busy, but I understand during summer the place is a mad house. I understand why... Has a Patio upstairs and I would recommend eating there is there is room. Views from upstairs a great with Belmont Park and the Pacific ocean right there..... Worth a visit..

CA trip

By John M |

Decent and convenient store, right from the boardwalk. It's hard to find any closer one than this. If you want Mexican, there is a store just a few steps away.

food good we went back three times in our week in the condo

By duffer47 |

Although located just off the beach there is open seating on the roof and also some open seating with view of the people and balboa park along with inside seating too. We stopped for some beer and got the calamari which was the best we have ever had but watch out for the peppers mixed in and battered. We also had their fish tacos and I had a chicken taco and they were also wonderful. I highly recommend their onion rings too. lightly battered and done to perfection. They are to die for. Fish and chips also very very good and I had them twice. The tko fish sandwich while tasty has a bite to it so best if you like hot foods. Do yourself a favor and try this place. Service was always good and very quick.....loved it

Another good spot

By Joseph D |

Tacos are said to be great they were almost as good as mexico. 8/10. Apps were just ok. Service was great. Would try again if in the area.

Christmas Vacation

By PSMSHAF |

Great sports bar and restaurant and great cocktails! Super staff and super food. The atmosphere was fantastic and friendly. We will be back! Meto our server was very attentive and kept our glasses full!

Thanks for opening the upstairs deck

By Elizabeth C |

I have to write a good review of this bar and grill because they were not planning to open their upstairs deck last Friday afternoon but when we asked they went ahead and opened the deck and the bar up there. I was really impressed. Not only that, but drinks and food were great. The view was even better. Thanks for the great happy hour!

Best fish tacos

By Mary N |

Best fish tacos I have ever had. Good size helping of fish on each taco. My husband enjoyed watching football.

Excellent place for a casual meal or snack.

By DJMXX |

Fun place overlooking Belmont amusement park and Mission Beach. We stopped in for a late afternoon snack and share two excellent tacos, beach style. The fish taco was good but the carne asado was the standout. It was a grey day but the open roof is covered so rain wouldn’t have bothered us. This place is super casual and very good!

Fish Tacos

By Ibbecky |

Great little beach bar (must be 21). Great food, (fish tacos),beer and sports. We had fun but parking was terrible!

TACO-TASTIC!

By nwarners66 |

This is a must on our trip to San Diego each time. They do have delicious tacos which are very filling. Was happy to see they built an awning upstairs since it's our favorite place to sit with a few beers and people watch. The staff has changed over time but the quality has not.

Big Bloddy Mary

By atastefortravels |

Order the Big Bloody Mary and it was aweome!!! Best french toast!!! The actual bloody mary was super tasty and had loads of stuff!

Great fish tacos

By EagleTravel29 |

I followed advice of someone and had the fish tacos for lunch. They were really good. Nice little bar and good service with great fish tacos. Can't say much more.

Fish Taco Beach Style

By Jacob N |

Highly recommend the beach style fish tacos! Local whitefish, had one grilled and one fried...I preferred the grilled one myself but both were delicious!! The kids had burgers and were pleased. My wife said the nachos were ok. Get the fish tacos!!

Excellent stop off Mission beach

By Liana H |

Great view, especially from upstairs. Katie knows her bar and makes great recommendations and great customer service. Had the shrimp tacos Best at the Beach style, made it a platter. So good! Love the Chipotle aioli sauce.

No one under 21 allowed

By meapodaca81 |

First of all, I hate to give bad reviews. But, I was not aware of the "age" requirement to just eat until we arrived. Now for one, every review from our AIRBNB host, to the website looks and sounds good. However, when you try to park in Mission Bay (and finally find parking) with a hungry family you want to eat. But instead, we were turned away because our kids well, are kids and under 21. Maybe next time.

Happy Hour Tacos were good.

By Rick N |

Came on Taco Tuesday and taco specials did not start till 7:00 pm but we were there. While we waited we had chips and Guac for$10 and beers. Happy hour drinks were $5 for beers on happy hour, someone ordered a sculpin and cost $10. TKO tacos were the best here for $4. T, tried adobada, carne asada, and grilled fish all tasy. I had the veggie deep fried avocado taco buy was already stuffed. Still spent over $100 with tip and Tori was a great waitress.

Great!!!

By Mike C |

Great food, good drinks, perfect location, fantastic staff... what else do you need all for a very reasonable price!

Great fast little lunch spot

By Kizzlefizzle |

Went here for lunch and some drinks with the family. We had an array of the fresh tacos and I had the bbq chicken salad. It was fresh, tasty, and full of flavour. Everyone likes their dishes, and the beers just kept coming. We were pleased

Fantastic food and prices and view

By spedler27 |

We went for lunch on the last day of our trip to San Diego and this place had the best food of our whole trip! Great prices, delicious food, great view when sitting outside, and wonderful service!

Avocado tacos

By Susan M. B |

This place was great. Great place to grab a beer and watch some Sunday sports. The avocado taco was AMAZING - I only wish I had gotten more than one or taken some to go.

Yum

By Kristi C |

My husband ordered a burger. It was cooked perfect, delicious and more than he could eat. I had Juan's street tacos! The grilled pineapple is a perfect balance to the heat. Chips and salsa yummy too!

Beers with a View

By Pamela P |

We had been walking and needed a beer! This had a nice view and cold beer. We did not eat, only enjoyed the view and people watching with a cold beer! The service was good and seemed like it might be a good place to eat, we may stop in again to try the food!

Retired couples dine at funky beach cafe.

By OKCtraveler43 |

Drove to beach area after a late afternoon arrival in San Diego. The Sandbar is one of those beach cafes that the appearance gives no clue as to the quality therein. To our good fortune, the food, drinks and service were all very good. It was also reasonability priced. I suspect that as the night wears on, this becomes more bar and less café. At that point, if you are over 24, it is probably time to go back to your motel.

Here we are again...

By TripGal63 |

This is probably our favorite bar in Mission Beach - we come here at least two to three times when we are in the area - love the tacos and the atmosphere - will return here again and again...

Good Food!

By TBrigham |

Went on a Saturday afternoon. It was unseasonably warm for San Diego so it was a little warm in the upper dining deck. Would be nice to have a little air flowing or more umbrellas for shade. The shrimp tacos were extremely good! It came with chips, beans and guacamole. The price was around $15 for the taco plate. You can see the ocean from a few seats on the upper deck

Pleasant eatery at Mission Beach near the Boardwalk & Belmont Park

By sgrebby |

My wife and I decided to stop for lunch today in Mission Beach, Near Belmont Amusement Park. Parking here is hideous and not for the impatient. After driving around looking for a spot, I was near patience's end when I spotted a open Handicap spot on the street. Directly across the street is a two story restaurant, with a continuous window on the upper floor that overlooks the street and Belmont Park. It's a typical beach café, except for the 2nd floor, but I had a difficult time getting up & down given the narrow staircase and only one rail to hold on to. Seating is limited to bar stools at the tables, except at the bar where they use bar height chairs with backs. A considerate waitress was alert enough to bring me a bar chair to sit on. The area inside was clean & bright, and the many fans around the room managed to keep the flies away, only just barely. It was after 1pm, but they were still doing a brisk business, as few if any tables were unoccupied at any one time. They had a reasonable selection of alcoholic drinks including beer on tap and in bottles. I had a Pacifico Clara, and my wife had a Margarita. The bottled beer was cold, while the Margarita was simply OK according to my wife. We love Mexican food and they seem to specialize in it. We went for the best value on the menu, a large nacho plate, and I ordered as an add-on, carne asada (+$3 add-on). The volume was large and imposing at first, even for two people, but we managed to nearly finish it. We'd both describe the dish as fair to good. Deficiencies included a paucity of cheese, too much cheese sauce, and what looked like pre-frozen processed carne asada cubes, that had very little taste. I'd lay off this extra. They also served only one small plastic container of salsa and another of jalepeno slices. The salsa would seldom be enough for two diners, but both were tasty. The pre-tip bill came to just under $30. A fair price for this area of town. The server was very good and answered all our questions accurately and pleasantly.

Calls itself a grill but doesnt allow children

By thomasannen |

Went to the front door and was told children weren't allowed. As it had what looked like plenty of table seating, it doesn't make sense. Especially since it is across from an amusement park.

Great food, Awesome service

By Paul G |

A great find whilst checking out Mission Beach. The beer was cold - a must. The food was very good. We had a Chicken Fiesta Salad & a Grilled Ancho Chicken sandwich. Both prepared superbly. A special mention to our attendant Lex who was both attentive and engaging. She made our evening even more pleasant. It might not have been as busy as other restaurants/bars in the area but I think that's its secret.

Best TKO Fish tacos

By Sue C |

We ate here during happy hour after visiting the Zoo and had the best tasting TKO fish tacos. They were fried in a crispy coating and were delicious. We got the platters which were good but the chips are just mediocre. Definitely try the TKO Fish tacos.

Poor service

By Nikki P |

Thought this would be a great place to get lunch, great location close to beach. I’m not sure if they were short staffed that day or what, but it was a struggle to get anything from water, to get our order taken, to silverware, to our check. The bartender was responsible for the bar, as well as serving the whole restaurant. There was just no way. There were two guys with “security” on their shirts that were sweeping and cleaning tables, but not helping out in any other way. The taco’s we got were very good, but they did mess up our order and we had to wait to get that fixed. Of course, it was difficult to even get anyone’s attention to notify them of the problem. Overall, our food and drink were fine, but we spent too much time there waiting for even basics like water on a hot day that I would try the many other area options before returning.

Hit the spot!

By Mattmillr911 |

Mmmm. First food in California and I got the shrimp and fish tacos at the sandbar. Soo good! Left a pleasant tingle in my mouth for half an hour. You should definitely come here if you are at Mission beach.

Tacos!

By Geniece T |

Had some great service and food at the Sandbar! Really enjoyed the atmosphere and did not have to wait long for a table or service. Our food was warm and our drinks were cold, just the way we like it! Friendly staff and very attentive. You will have a returning customer here.

Our go to for Mission Beach Bar Food, Especially the Tacos and Fish and Chips

By DBergstrom |

We travel to San Diego very often for business and leisure and always make sure to stop by one of our favorite local beach hangouts. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. The food is simply great bar food. My wife and daughter love their tacos and their fish and chips are really some of the best I've ever had. Come here often, it's that good and that comfortable. Interesting people watching too.

Completely Average Drinks, Food, Service and Stunning Lack of Diversity

By romeboy |

Another hyped-up venue that will disappoint you. We visited on a weekday morning: the place was almost empty yet it took ages to place our order. Drinks were average but the waiter kept coming back to convince us to order more. The hyped-up tacos came after some time and were average and overpriced. The bathroom is barely adequate (and poorly ventilated) for such a place when it's empty. I can't imagine how it is when the venue gets busy. Lastly, I had to walk to the bar to have my credit card charged as the waiter had disappeared. Overall, the sports bro-type waiters made us feel out of place because we did not fit in the sports bro type... Diversity is not the word du jour in this venue... Frankly not a place I would visit again.

Yummy!

By vharris2015 |

You can either sit on the upper deck or inside. The upper deck has a great view of the ocean! Fish tacos were amazing! $2 off drinks and appetizers during happy hour! A must to check out!

Tacos!!!

By sundevilgirl29 |

We had been wanting good Mexican food this trip and this place completely hit the spot. All 6 of us ordered the taco plate and loved every bite. We also got the chips and queso and the nachos and demolished everything on our plates. Best meal we had this trip and we will be back next time!

Best fish tacos I’ve ever had!!

By Josh C |

Was told about this place from my hotel I was staying in, I just so happened to stop by on taco Tuesday. The beach taco is bar far the best taco I’ve tasted. Also an excellent selection of beers on tap! Great vibe and I’ll definitely be hitting this place up again next time I visit!

Yummy yummy for the fish tacos

By Iselda W |

We stopped to have lunch during our bike cruise on the boardwalk. The is a fine place to have lunch. We had the taco plate, with fish and chicken TKO style. One of the best tacos I ever ate during my roadtrip through California.

Awesome place to hang out by beach!

By ar6595 |

Ordered fish tacos and they were even better than the Mexican food we had for lunch in a reknown old Town restaurant. Great atmosphere, staff was great. Will definitely be returning. A must visit if you want a hang out. Enjoy!!

Great Fish Tacos!

By jlar01 |

We went for the fish tacos - and they did not disappoint. They were amazing. The place was packed, so the service was a little slow. But the delicious food made up for the wait.

Great food, poor service

By Tony J |

Stopped in for a quick dinner on a Wednesday night when the place was pretty quiet. Waited for some time to get a beer, then waited more time to order food. The tacos were spectacular and came quickly but the service was poor. Slow and not friendly.

Fish tacos and big beers... and no kids allowed

By The GRAZfather |

What else do you need in life if you are trying to get away from your kids for a bit?Did I mention they also had a lot of flat screen TVs showing march madness? They had a pretty good local beer selection that you could get in 14 or 22 ounce mugs. Once I wet my whistle with a tasty beverage, we started to explore the food menu. The sign on the wall said they had the best fish tacos in SD so we figured we would give them a chance. Everyone recommended TKO style fish taco so went with it and we were not disappointed. This was a very unique take on fish tacos so I understand why they were so highly rated. They were pretty spicy and even had funions on top. We really enjoyed them and were happy we ordered the combo plate with chips, salsa guac and beans.

Brunch on the Boardwalk

By Brad L |

We sat outside in nice covered seating that had heating elements in the area to take the morning chill out of the air. The wait staff was very professional and nice to us. I ordered the Breakfast Hash and a “Bold and Brew-itful” drink. The is a must for a breakfast order. The quantity of food was good for the price. The drink was well worth the price as well. If you are hungry and on the broad walk, I would give this place a shot.

Super tasty!!

By Gabriel Geronazzo |

I had both a lunch and a dinner with friends in this restaurant near the mission beach. The first time we had nachos, turkey sandwich and a soup and everything was really good. For dinner we had the Bam Burger... One of the best ever: avocado, mushrooms, bacon, lettuce and tomato! Fantastic:) the prices are normal; 7-15$

Good place

By William M |

We visited Sandbar while on a business trip because it looked like a good local place for fish tacos. It has a nice roof seating area, but we sat in the main room. There are a lot of tvs if you are looking to watch a game. We had the quesadillas and fish tacos with grilled white fish. The quesadillas were great, and my fish taco, which is what they are known for, was really good. I would have given five stars instead of three, but my wife's Taco was so full of bones it was basically inedible. Our waitress was so busy, even though there were several empty tables, so we ended up just paying for our bill and leaving. Not a bad place, but we will probably try something else next time.

Good food and setting

By LeoniBJJ |

Friendly hostess and serving staff. Good buffalo rings and tasty fish tacos. Can't complain at all! Would come back

Best Shrimp Tacos in San Diego

By Chad F |

This is a must visit establishment for the adults. Great roof top bar, amazing tacos, awesome beer selection. The tater tots with carne asada are also amazing!

We were hungry, and they gave us food

By Benjamin M |

Had the grilled Mahi tacos and they were legit! I grew up in SoCal and it was great to come back here and get a taste of my childhood. Also, very well priced, which is saying something in CA.

Great burger

By wonderkap |

A Beach side Bar & Grill, atmosphere is what you would expect for its location. The staff is friendly, the burgers are large and cooked to perfection. Plenty of beers and tequilas to choose from, She enjoyed her quesadilla the with the smooth spicy guacamole.

Best Fish Tacos I've ever tasted

By Lagrahc |

We vacation in Mission Beach often and our first stop is always Sandbar to have their tacos. So delicious! I actually believe I have mastered replicating their fish tacos at home. Boom!

Lunch on the terrace/roof

By Gemma H |

We called in here for lunch and ordered the tacos - apparently the best! I love tacos and yes they are ok but they aren't life changing! The taco platter was recommended and good value. There's nothing wrong with them but just not as spectacular as I was expecting after hearing about the hype from the staff/menu. If you want a quick bite to eat with no fuss then this is a great place! Good choice of food/drink on the menu.

Perfect food

By katiekay53 |

We enjoyed this restaurant a lot. The food was really good and drinks were reasonable. Try the wedge salad it's really good.

Surprisingly good!

By Joel R |

We were at the amusement park and not super excited about lunch in the park. Found this place literally across the parking lot and gave it a shot. It was actually GREAT! I had a burger which was great. My kids had wings and ceviche… both great. Wife had fish tacos and they were also great! Staff was friendly, food was quick. Totally worth the walk across the parking lot for surprisingly good food and service!

bar near the beach

By s H |

Big tvs, good for sporting events near the beach, shops, roller coaster. Can beer. They also had good music.
