Background: when walking by Sang Kee Noodle House, I stopped in to ask if they had Dim Sum on the weekends. Affirmative! Verdict: When I went to order Dim Sum, the restaurant was filled with guests speaking Chinese. All of the Dim Sum was good to excellent, but the Siu Mai (Shu Mai) Shrimp Dumplings were amazing. When we're back in University City, Philadelphia on a weekend, we're coming back for Dim Sum!

Located in the Sheraton Hotel at 36th & Chestnut in University City, Sang Kee has a slightly eclectic menu that packed the house when we were there. Part of a family of similar restaurants with other locations in Philly area. Caters to the demographic diversity of the Penn area. Pad-Thai was very tasty.

Their noodle soup was delicious and well portioned. There is a very extensive menu and I had a hard time picking just one thing to order as a result. Price was good and the food tasted great. I loved having right in the hotel where I was staying.

its within the vicinity of Sheraton. Hence, service is definitely an issue. However, the food is better.

Needing some food after a procedure at HUP and staying at the Sheraton this was perfect. Very nice and clean, priced very reasonable. Sweet and Sour Ribs were great .

I lived in Taiwan years ago and eating at Sang Kee Noodle House takes me back to the delicious authentic Chinese food that used to enjoy. The duck and pork belly are excellent.

Maybe I have been starved for real Chinese food and getting none for too long. I am very impressed and astonished by this one. Quick service, great prices, yummy food. There is a lot more unique Chinese dishes available here than most other cities where I've been. I believe they have a Cantonese chef here, and the style and quality of cooking is up and above my high expectation for any Chinese restaurant in the U.S.. It is truly a jewel to have such in an inland state. I guess, when UPenn has more than 30% of their students from Asia, you have to have at least one good Chinese restaurant in town for them. Dim Sum is available. A La Carte is great too. If you are looking for some authentic Chinese food, this is it! Enjoy!

The restaurant is located in the University Sheraton and is open for all meals. I had both dinner and breakfast there. Breakfast was definitely better than the dinner, but both came with ample portions. Overall, a bit disappointing.

Located in the lobby of the Sheraton, it is as close as I've come to "real" Chinese food since leaving the Orient. The types of food available are comparable to what I enjoyed in country. I wish it wasn't a 5 hour drive from home to enjoy the cuisine.

If you are a fan of noodles, lomein, pad thai, etc. this is the place. Make sure you are hungry. The quick and efficient service plus the aroma of delicious dishes quickly lets you know you are in the right place. Not only is the noodles available in many variations, all delicious, but they have also wide selections of dim sum and main dishes that make you decide to come back for more if you are not already stuffed to the gills. If you happen to have business in Philadelphia, University district visit this restaurant and you will be truly satisfied.

Surprisingly good fare in a hotel lobby. If you're staying at the Sheraton University Ctr in Philly, it's in the lobby. Well worth it, sang kee very much!

We went for a quick dinner and found it hopping with undergraduates. This SangKee is located inside the Sheraton Hotel and it's prettier and fancier than most places near the 'Penn campus. They have a range of dishes, incliuding some comfort food normally not found in a restaurant, such as congee. The noodle soups are popular with students and affordable

I've heard for years how terrific sand keep is but the lunch visit didn't live up to the hype. It was OK but nothing special. I had the bento box with teriyaki chicken for lunch which was blah. My son had general tsaos chicken which was only ok. I was expecting so much more and to be wowed by the flavors. If you just want plain Chinese food this is fine, but if you want something memorable go elsewhere.

General Gau chicken was probably some of the best I've had. However, the service was terrible. I went twice and both times I waited over 10 minutes for a server to come over and even start a drink order. Meanwhile people all around me who had come in later than me got their order taken and food delivered before I was asked what I would like to drink. Full disclaimer I am not asian and everyone in the entire restaurant was. So good luck getting served if youre not asian.

Only restaurant bar in the Sheraton. Not adequate to accommodate the crowd and kitchen closes early. No choice if u want to stay in hotel want to stay

Convenient when staying in the hotel, open late, and very delicious! Helpful as it has a bar for later gatherings.

I came in for a quick lunch between meetings. The place was very crowded, but the service was fast and the food was pretty good.

It is a good restaurant, specially if you stay at the hotel and don't want to walk far. Very good soup and excellent fried rice.

some of the best Chinese food I ever had. Very friendly service. Good price value. They also have a bar inside the restaurant

Chinese food is indeed authentic - I had the braised pork with rice. It came with blanched Asian vegetables, and a braised egg. Generous serving of rice, but not proportionate with serving of pork. It is slightly pricey, but this is to be expected as this is a restaurant situated in a hotel. Service was brisk but don't expect too much.

In the Sheraton University City - a block from U of Penn campus and near Drexel U. We were served ice water as soon as we were seated. Menu is large and prices are reasonable. We ordered General Tso's chicken, sweet & sour chicken, and shrimp in a lemon sauce. The chicken was high quality meat, and the sweet & sour sauce was almost too sweet but delicious nonetheless. The general tso's was equally delicious. The shrimp was also good but it was breaded (not noted on the menu), so if you have any gluten sensitivities, be sure to clarify if meats are breaded. The restaurant features scrumptious-looking desserts. Sadly, we were not hungry enough to try them.

Was thrilled to find this place. Being one of few non Chinese customers, I knew it would be authentic. Was hoping for dim sum, but was told it was too early. Had great spicy double cooked pork belly.

I had a "quick" take-out when I stay in the hotel (upstairs). The taste is just fine while the price is high probably due to its location.

The restaurant has excellent location in the university city, close to the University of Pennsylvania. It provides good Chinese food. The service is OK. The restaurant is popular and usually full of people. It is a good place to good if you are looking for restaurant to meet your friends.

Found this noodle house last minute close to our hotel. What a pleasant surprise. We had the Chicken Pad Thai and Coconut Crusted Shrimp. We ordered the Pad Thai mild, but the waiter brought me out the hot sauce, and I was able to give it as much heat as desired. Great taste. Restaurant is nicely decorated and service is excellent. Food came out within 10 minutes and very hot. For a restaurant located inside a big city, the prices were reasonable.

We visited Sang Kee Noodle House located at the Sheraton on the UPenn campus while in town for our daughter's graduation, this was our third visit to this restaurant in the last two years , this time there were ten of us in the lunch party. The food as before was good, non spicy, great portions, in fact the meal/noodle/ soup bowls are gigantic and impossible to finish for most . The prices are reasonable , service efficient and polite. My only observation, and I mention this on behalf of the one vegetation and one person who is allergic to egg in our group , the choices and options are severely limited for them. Somehow the concept of vegetarian menu options has yet to filter down to Chinese restaurants .

Excellent Chinese Food. Upon searching for the venue for my Chinese Banquet we came across Sang Kee Noddle House located in the Sheraton University City Hotel. After meeting the owner of all the locations Michael and tasting the food, we knew immediately that this was the right venue for our wedding celebration/ Chinese Banquet. Michael was very prompt and helpful with answering any questions that I had and also in the selection of the menu. Another person to mention is Hugh the manager. He was also very accommodating on our wedding day and made sure we were well taken care of. Several of my wedding guests said that was the best wedding food they ever had. The food is delicious and far exceeded my expectations on taste and quality. Overall I would highly recommend Sang Kee for your Chinese Banquet or just an everyday meal.

This restaurant provides a nice dose of Chinese food - I like the noodle soups that they have. The restaurant is usually quite busy, as it is conveniently placed underneath Sheraton Hotel and right next to a university. However, there is usually enough space, so you don't have to wait too long. The portion sizes are quite large, and the price isn't too expensive. The service is alright, but the staff seem really rushed and try to hurry you along.

enjoyed dinner while I stayed at the hotel. Food is delicious...staff very accommodating ......reasonably priced

My Favorite Asian Restaurant ever-!! A must try! Quick, attention to detail , service. The food is always prepared fresh, quick and enough to share. The prices increased Slightly over the last year, but still worth it.

I wish I could give this place negative stars. I ordered take on 3/8/19 for me and a coworker. Shortly after I got back with the food, I got a call from my coworker stating that she found a long piece of hair in her side of rice. I thought maybe it was a fluke and went on eating my food. Only to find a long piece of hair battered and fried with my shrimp! Called the restaurant, they looked up and confirmed our orders and we were offered 20 % off the next meal. Are you serious!?! I instantly felt sick. I will never dine here again!

Good food, great boba tea. Service was acceptable. Servings are very large, could split between several people.

an Asian noodle restaurant with many options, including pho and vegetarian dishes. A nice gathering place when staying at the hotel with a large group.

Got room service. Wonton Soup is NOT made here. Tasted like pre made soup. Was just okay, but the only option other than pizza if you stay at the hotel

Well the other comments are true. Service isn't great. Our server wasn't friendly at all. My mom got the lunch salmon box and I got the Xe Lua noodle bowl. I liked my noodle bowl, the beef was tasty. I couldn't finish it. The salmon was average. I expected something a little better here in the city. Won't be rushing back.

I had a really great experience at Sangkee. The Vietnamese iced coffee was delicious! I ordered the seared ahi tuna and honey shrimp with walnuts. My fiance got dumpling & some kind of duck entree, which was really good. We had a nice date night there but are looking forward to going again to get simpler items on the menu (pho, rice bowls, etc). I'm glad this place is on our radar now!

Went here for my birthday with six other people. Menu is huge! We were seated a a nice round table with plenty of elbow room. Other reviews complained about the service but we had no problem. Everyone enjoyed their meals including my daughter who is a vegetarian and found plenty of selections to choose from! I would highly recommend the Dim Sum sampler .... We will be back!

We ordered the General Tsao Chicken, the Taiwanese Beef Noodles Soup, and Calamari. Portions were big. Food tasted decent though I wouldn't say the Taiwanese Beef Noodles tasted authentic. Calamari was good. General Tsao Chicken was a tad too sweet. Nice environment and service was not too bad too. If you sign up on the restaurant website, they will send you a $10 voucher - redeemable with a minimum spend of $30.

Had a wonderful meal with many options for vegetarians. The staff was helpful, the food didn't taste like most Asian restaurants. The dumplings were wonderful and moist and not heavy.

Love this place. Love their big bowl soup. Breakfast isn't bad either. Dinner is great, and food comes so quick, very highly recommended. I was at this hotel for 4 days and ate there each day.

When approaching Sangkee it seems small, but once inside the space is very appropriate. The Service was excellent as was the food. I had the Shrimp dumplings (fried) de-li-cious. Would recommend you try them...

Just give me some Beef Fried Rice and I'm a happy camper. This place had an extensive menu but all I needed was available. It was good.

This restaurant is located conveniently in the University City. The food is amazing quality, fresh and tasty and delicious. The menu has so many choices that you ever need including pho Vietnamese noodle and bubble tea. I have eaten here everyday since I arrived in Philadelphia because the restaurant has all kinds of things to please me and kids. The mayonnaise prawn is our favorite.

Ordered chow fun beef pan fried noodles and it was amazing ! Best I ever had and I have had a lot. The lychee martini was also great. Even the shrimp fried rice was surprising. The shrimp were jumbo and cleaned not that tasteless frozen shrimp. The place clean and nice decor not like the run down restaurants in Chinatown. My family and I were amazingly surprised cause this restaurant delivered over the max.

Very nice Chinese restaurant, clean, with good variety of dishes in the menu, portions are very good, quality is very good as well, and price is great in return, the service level is excellent, I would strongly advice Chinese food lovers to come here 😉

Eleven of us went for a group lunch on a Wednesday and were seated promptly and our orders were taken starting at one end of the table. That end got served first and we at the other end of the table was still waiting for our lunch when the first people served were finished eating. The food was good but they could do a better job at coordinating these orders. There is an 18% gratuity on tables of 6 or more plus 8% tax and top of that so there was no recourse for inadequate service in these situations.

I was staying at the attached Sheraton and had dinner here one night. I enjoyed it very much. I had the Bulgogi Rice bowl which was good, but the beef was fatty. Flavors were very good. My wife had the Sliced Chicken Big Broth Bowl and while she liked the broth and everything else in it, she was not a fan of the chicken. She was slightly grossed out by it. I would eat here again and try some of the other specialties. Reasonably priced. And as racist as this may be, there were a lot of Asian people in the restaurant during dinner so I assume it has to be good, right?

This LARGE outpost of the Sang Kee chain took over the space in the Sheriton that once housed a s;ports bar. It attracts lost of asians. We wnt because we had a Living Social Coupon and were very pleased with the food as did everone else. I guess my only comment is that I requested hot tea and it came in a regular coffee cup and I was charged $2.00. Traditionally chinese restaurants include small cups of hot tea with no extra charge. (Now I know why no one else - even Asians) was drinking more than just water. We will go back if there is a repeat of the certificate but the location is not close to us.

Solid chinese restaurant. Scallion pancakes were a tasty appetizer. The staff accommodated my young daughter's requests.

There are many San Kee facilities around and this one suffers from poor food and lackadaisical service. Their duck house in Chinatown has probably best duck around( though discourteous to non- Chinese) and locale in Wynnewood is superb. The noodle house in a hotel seems to care little for good cooking.

The restaurant is located in the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel. I ordered the barbequed pork friend rice. So yummy.

For some body stay in Sheraton, it's the best choise: you can save money and enjoy high quality food and good service.

Ate here twice during a convention I attended at this hotel. The extensive menu draws on cuisine from several Asian cultures, and most of the wait staff are also of Asian extraction, so can easily advise if you don't know details of certain dishes. It's difficult to make a choice from some many delicious options. Servings are more than generous. Indeed, one might be careful when ordering a "small plate" as it will arrive heaping with food. Everything was of good quality and well cooked, seasoned, and served promptly. Prices were reasonable. Recommended.

Unassuming location and appearance, but fantastic Chinese! Two thumbs up! A wonderful menu of soups and select dim sum starters. I wish I'd come here sooner and had more space in my belly to order and eat more! Well done!

Being Asian I really like Chinese Food. While I am flexible when I travel, having good Asian food really counts on days I just dont know what to eat. Sang Kee is not one of those Amercanised Chinese food and retains original Asian cooking styles and palate which I appreciate.

The service, atmosphere and quality of food were all very disappointing. The service was the most unappealing aspect. After attempting to order two different meals which "were not offered" that night, the waitress basically ordered/pressured me into ordering the beef lo mein. It took half an hour for our food to arrive but when we put the credit card on the table after the meal, it was gone in a flash. They also had a bathroom which was "in cleaning" and every time I tried to go, I was stopped by the staff. The food was okay but nothing special. As a group of four, we ordered a few different dishes including a pork noodle soup, vegetarian dumplings, beef lo mein, and seafood friend noodles. The soup and dumplings were the best, but you could find better elsewhere, especially for the price. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone who wants a good meal and especially not to anyone who wants a good experience.

Service was not too impressive, but the food is good. I ordered the rib rice bowl for lunch and a congee breakfast. They were both generously proportioned and tasted fairly authentic (native Chinese reviewer here). Prices were reasonable. It's also attached to the Sheraton where I was staying and so was very convenient. I'm also a fan of their sister restaurant in Cherry Hill.

In the heart of the Penn campus this attractive large Chinese restaurant has a very extensive menu reasonably priced to appeal to the students and faculty of this university community.

I always enjoy dining here, for breakfast (especially congee and dim sum), and dinner. Dishes seem to be getting smaller over the 7 years I have been coming here, but inflation hits us all.

The food was delicious and they gave you big portions. The restaurant was packed the whole time. People walk in from off the street so it's not just for hotel guest.

Fine if you like noodles. Not appropriate as the only F&B outlet at a Sheraton. Breakfast is so so with no fresh milk for coffee.

This is the third time I have eaten here and It is always good. The menu has a wide variety of Asian geographical choices ranging from Thai to Korean to Chinese style soups and noodle dishes. I ordered the Tom Yum Seafood Soup (Shrimp, scallop, squid, clam, flounder fillet, vegetable and Vietnamese rice noodle in Thai spice broth) and asked for extra spicy - it was excellent, and the waiter thoughtfully provided a side dish with extra chili pepper sauce in case it was not sufficiently spicy. I started with a double order of steam shrimp dumplings - also fabulous and perfect to use the chili sauce on! The place has always been very busy and college kids seem to be voting with their feet on the good food and good value. Service is very good and fast.

It was a short walk from the inn at penn one late cold night ,,, cold for us houstonians. We had pho and shrimp wonton noodle soup and were glad that it was pretty good. We have lots of great noodle places in houston so perhaps our rating is a little tough. We also ordered pho to go for our kids (who thought it was too cold out that night to walk outside) and were glad to find that the noodle were packed separately from the soup to keep the noodle from becoming soaky.

The Duck was good...........and the rest of the food was really good I will recommend it the restuerant

If you're looking for an authentic Asian food place, this is the place for that. They have many dish options that are likely to please anyone and everyone.

My husband and I were staying at the Sheraton hotel and decided to have dinner at Sang Kee. We ordered the Lo Mein Shrimp and the Spicy Shrimp Stuffed Peppers. They were both delicious. And we really like the pickled cabbage that was brought out. The atmosphere was nice and clean, and the service was good as well. We were in town for a film festival nearby and the Filmmakers Brunch was held at Sang Kee.

Staying in Sheraton where this restaurant is located and the food certainly didn't disappoint! It was delicious and super hot and tasty. I tried the garlic chicken wings which delicious and came out super hot :) For my meal, had General Tao chicken, and it is by far one of the best I've had and I have had from many different places!!! Also got Love Boat fruit smoothie, blended to perfection ( strawberry, mango, banana), yum yum!!!

One our favorite places EVER!!!!!! Love the staff and everything is delicious and fresh! Highly recommend!

Food OK but not freshly prepared. Homogenized recipes. Not as "authentic" as claimed. But what do you expect in an urban chain hotel? Go to Chinatown for much better food (and cheaper). Don't run away from here, but don't run to get here, either.

This is a nice place, fantastic food, good service. Lunch menu is nicely varied, reasonably priced, everything I have eaten here was delicious.

I went in at about 1:30 pm on a Wednesday with a group of 5 other people. The restaurant is clean, cozy, and nicely decorated. There were only a few other occupied tables; but, it took the waiter almost 10 minutes to bring menus over. There was another delay before he took beverage orders and put out place settings. Once our orders were taken, the food came out quickly. It was freshly prepared and everyone was pleased with their choices. Most of the menu items were typical of any Cantonese restaurant to be found in Philadelphia. Some of the more inventive ones here included a Dim Sum Platter ($10.00), Grilled Shrimp Sakura Salad ($11.50), Sliced Ox Tongue and Tripe with Chili Sauce and a wide range of vegetarian dishes.

We were staying at the Sheraton so decided to try it and it far exceeded our expectations. The dim sum and crispy duck were some of the best we've had. Highly recommend.

They offer a wide variety of food and they have specials for every season. I love the barbecue pork, roasted duck, steak, and stuffed eggplant here.

The food here was excellent, including several vegetarian options I had not had before (vegetarian General Tso's chicken, for example; and braised gluten.) It was full of people, most of whom were Chinese.

Wide range of very tasty dishes. Restaurant was clean and friendly. Walking distance from property. Reasonably priced for the neighborhood.

Honestly, we didn't eat here as we were there for a convention and meals were provided. BUT, we did take advantage of the bar and found the bartender to be excellent and the service very good. He knew the second day what we were drinking w/o us even having to place an order. I would have definitely had dinner there if we had stayed longer

Lunch is very special at Sang Kee Noodle House. They have a variety of specials that include all types of Asian food. Everyone was excellent. We go there frequently. There are 2 other Sang Kee' s. One in Cheltenham PA and one in Wynnewood PA. Their house special soup is our favorite. Dinners are also excellent. The waiters are very attentive. It is reasonably priced.

I don't know what to say about Sang Kee. Its like...the popular girl in town, nice and all, but you don't know what the fuss is about nor do you find anything really attractive about her. The staff is attentive, meal portions are huge, its conveniently located downstairs of a hotel lobby, but the food is awful. Maybe it was because we ordered all the ones they were not particularly good at. Pad Thai was terrible...like the chef just mixed some oyster sauce and sweet chili sauce straight from the bottle. The egg noodle wonton soup was also terrible...the broth was smelly, the wontons were not soft but hard. The steamed dumplings were..yes, terrible again. They were not Shau Long Bau....they were these hard golf balls. I am not a picky eater AT ALL!! But it would have been great if they could reduce the ridiculous US sized portion, and try to just make it taste more like real Chinese food instead of some Asian food with no identity.

We ate here because it had the highest ratings on TA in University City. We weren't disappointed by the food and I thought the portions were very generous but there's really nothing special about this restaurant. It's like many other Asian fusion restaurants I've been to. If I could give 3.5 stars I would.

Recently we spotted this restaurant and were surprised there would be an authentic Chinese restaurant int he area. We stopped in for lunch to give it a try. The restaurant is located in the lobby of a hotel and looked nice enough. Unfortunately what we thought would be extremely authentic Chinese food was lo quite that. The food was good and we ordered a number of appetizers and entrees. Unfortunately the food was not as authentic as we thought it would be and much more like typical American style Chinese cuisine with most dishes being a simple sweet and sour based. Not sure if we would try it again, and maybe we need to explore more dishes on the menu?

Conveniently located inside Sheraton University City this restaurant is known for its noodles and dim sum (on weekends). We went for lunch for two days in a row. They can be moderately busy. Peking duck was very good. Other recommended dishes include chicken in lettuce wrap. We had pho and chicken curry noodle soup. Nice portion but the broth and noodle were average. I have had better noodles soup and pho somewhere else. The prices are very reasonable for Philadelphia. So of you are in University City area and have a craving for delicious authentic Chinese food please try this restaurant.

Service stunk. I was sitting at the bar because I travel alone and hate sitting at a table. I watched two customers get up and walk away without getting any help or service.

Had lunch here while waiting for my room to be ready at the Sheraton (located outside of the Sheraton lobby). The lunch crowd was bustling. The food was decent and enjoyable. I wish I could have had dinner, but timing did not permit. Would definitely give it a try if given the opportunity.

Primo. - Look around at the patrons - They are overwhelmingly Asian. - Fantastic chow fun , soups &. Beautiful desserts. - A must visit in Philly !!!!

We greatly enjoyed the food at Sang Kee Noodle House. The food tasted very authentic, and the food was very reasonably priced. Service is good, and this place is very convenient for travelers visiting UPenn!

Ideal for lunch, because the big soup bowls are quick and tasty, but overall the food can't hold a candle to Han Dynasty, so it's not the best choice in the area for a serious meal. The new online ordering is extremely convenient. Just place your order, indicate the pick-up (or delivery) time, and it's there waiting for you. Now that's an upgrade over truck food!

Five of us went here after touring University of PA museum. The menu has many interesting Asian dishes that are not commonly found in some restaurants, for example a soup containing "1000 year old eggs". They have many dishes that are low price that would appeal to someone on a budget. We had appetizers, soups and entrees in our group and all of the items were very tasty. They have a full bar if you choose alcohol. The waitress was excellent.

Located in the Marriott hotel, this spot is favored by our family when visiting our daughter for the soup choices. They have very nice drinks and desserts as well and their dim sum is awesome for sharing.

Maybe not considered a great location for most citizens, but for the UPenn students living across the street and around there, it is a godsend to escape their daily dinning hall fare. The food is not sophisticated, nor fancy; but just what the students can afford. May be on the high side. You will enjoy it too after 2 weeks of cafeteria food. LOL!

MARTA FEDERLINE was amazing she did everything in her power to accommodate us BIG thank you. Ricky and his crew where Awesome!!!! We where over sold that night and Ricky came to the rescue with adding one more table the whole evening went smooth because of him and his crew.(Margaret, Mark, Danny, Jimmy and Michael) And a HUGE thank you to Keith for making everything go smooth that night.

I stayed at the Sheraton University City overnight because I had day surgery at Penn and had to go back the next day. By the time I got to the hotel I was hungry and exhausted. This restaurant sits inside the hotel and is beautiful. I ordered and went downstairs to pick up my food. At that time indoor dining was still restricted so it was strictly take out. They had everything organized in bags and boxes along with all the condiments etc for you to help yourself so you could take exactly what you wanted. The staff member who gave you your food was fast, efficient and extremely friendly. Now for the most important part. There were two extraordinary things about this restaurant. First the price. It was ridiculously reasonable for hotel food and especially this quality. Second was the food. It was excellent and crazy plentiful. I dream of this place it was that good. I hope to go back soon.

This was one of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever eaten. Soup was stupendous. I had the vegetable seaweed. Tofu curry main dish was succulent. Gin martini was classic. I cannot believe this is in the Sheraton in university city. What an excellent find.

We had dinner here as a convience since it was in our hotel lobby. The food was above average from your typical Chinese food. They have the same standard fare as many Chinese takeout places but it's authentic and not whatever those places try to pass off. Our dinner was delivered almost immediately which made me wonder but it was pretty good. Service is lacking, our server appeared a total of 3 times, once to get us drinks, once to drop off our drinks and then to drop off our check. Price is only slightly more than a Chinese takeout place but the quality is also better

I ordered the noodle bowl with sea food. It was yummy but enough for two people. The seafood was fresh, the broth was perfect. The service was quick, but I got the impression that they wanted us out as soon as we sere done. The waiter didn't give us a chance at dessert, handed us the bill as soon as we put our bowls to one side!

I am generally wary of restaurants located inside hotels, because they tend to have a captive audience, which leads them to cut corners on quality while increasing price. Sang Kee is unfortunately in that category to an extent. I went here for lunch on a UPenn visitor’s dime, so cost wasn’t really an issue. Service was rather indifferent, and the food was just average. I would not make a trip to West Philly just for the purpose of eating here.

Had breakfast here at 10:00am and it was absolutely terrible. Food took 25 minutes and everything was cold, orders were mixed up, food was missing and potatoes were all undercooked. I am shocked to see the Sheraton will use them for room service. I will never eat here again.

Parking: Street Parking or Garage Parking Tables: They have private rooms with KTV. And also booth. Menus & Foods: Menus is easy to read with pictures. Lots of choices, good selection. Delicious food. They offer breakfast, lunch, dinner. Great Dim Sum. Beverage: Alcohol ( Beer, Wine, Cocktail) and Soft drinks Price: Reasonable price. They are offering a 2020 Chinese New Year special menus. Service: Fast service even though they are busy. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Specially Manager Hugh. Reservation: Walk in or Phone ( Can order take out / delivery ) Good for groups / Kids / Wheelchair friendly Restroom: Clean and tidy Payment: Credit card or Cash Overall: Our family and friend been here many times , we enjoyed their foods all the time!

I had dinner and breakfast at this restaurant. The dinner was really good. There is a great variety to choose from. The service was efficient on a night when the restaurant was full. If you plan to eat dinner here, be aware that you may have to wait a bit to get in, as it is popular. I'm not sure if it is possible to make a reservation. The omelette I had for breakfast was OK and generously filled with ingredients (you can choose which three you want), but tasted quite bland.

We ate here during Family Weekend at U Penn and had a nice dinner. We were in a bit of a rush to get to the football game and told our server to recommend a few things that would be made quickly and we ended up getting steamed dumplings, fried rice and 2 other dishes. The dumplings were really good...next time we will order more! The fried rice was tasty and a large portion. The other dishes were yummy too and the service was really fast. They knew we had to get out quickly and they got our food to us very fast. We will definitely go back!

This lovely bustling restaurant is located in the lobby of the Sheraton University City. Food was delicious and service was great. Full service bar available.

Was looking up restaurants near our hotel in Philly (Sheraton University City) and this one was highly rated. Then found out it was IN our hotel! Huge bowls of noodle soups, authentic asian dishes and VERY reasonable prices. Highly recommend!

I love noodles and was excited to try based on reviews. had the short rib ramen and it was extremely bland.

Feeling tired after visiting many attractions in Phily and not wanting to drive again/pay another parking fees, we decided to try the restaurant located at the Sheraton Philadelphia University City Hotel where we were staying. This restaurant became our #1 favorite restaurant in Phily due to the following reasons: 1. Delicious entrees and appetizers - we ordered 2 types of dim sum, one pork dish and one dish made of ribs. The last two dishes were promptly served to us. The wait staff explained that there would be a delay in serving the dim sum (had to be steamed) which was fine with us. 2. Many Dish Options - there is a high number of dishes to choose from ranging from soups, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. There are pages and pages of items listed in the Menu Book. 3. Cheap/Reasonable Prices of Foods: The most expensive one for our dinner is the Five Spice Ribs whose price is $19.95 per order while the pork belly is for only $8.95. Prices of dim sum ranged from $5 - $6 per order. Desserts are for $7-$8. Total of our foods and drinks was about $62.00. 4. Attentive and helpful wait staff - 3 of them alternated in serving us.Our glasses of water and cups of teas were timely replenished without our asking. We're definitely going back to this restaurant next time we visit Phily. We'll try the other delicious items shown in their Menu Book. Happy eating!

The restaurant looks nice. The traditional statues in the reception area gives this place a fused ambiance: contemporary + traditional. The menu is elaborate and good thing is they serve several different types of desserts as well. On one of tables I saw a little flame-lamp on which the dish bowl was kept to keep the dish warm. I liked that very much. Usually, over longer dinner the taste starts fading as food gets cold, but this little arrangement was great. They do have a full bar (I didn't try anything) and their staff is quite good.

2 friends and I enjoyed lunch at Sang Kee before a dance performance at the Zellerbach Theater. The restaurant was lovely, the service was top-notch and the food was divine. We shared several appetizers before our entrees were served. The dumplings, Chinese scallion pancakes, pad Thai, chow fun and crispy flounder were all delectable! And the servings were so large that we each took leftovers home with us. Since we took advantage of the special parking discount at the Sheraton, we were able to drop off our "to-go" bags in our cars before heading to the show. All in all, a delightful experience. Would definitely return.

Personally, I would cross the street and patronize Ochatta, rather than Sang Kee. I found it odd that this was the only restaurant inside the Sheraton; I would have preferred a non-Asian restaurant for breakfast, at least.

I can walk to Sang Kee and often do. They have a frequent diner card, and I eat there enough to have accumulated 1000 points, cashed in for $150 gift card. But I've used that up already! Quick service, well-prepared Chinese and Asian menu. I'm not adventurous, but the menu is. I do the standbys: dumplings, hot-and-sour soup, coconut-fried shrimp, Kung pao, chicke and green bean stir fry, mei-fun noodles. Plentiful portions and very reasonable prices. There's a small terrace for outdoor eating. Many Asian and Asia-American customers suggest that Sang Kee measures up to expert standards.

When Sang Kee first opened a few years ago, it was a breath of fresh air. It occupied a space in the Sheraton Hotel that had seen a succession of grim and overpriced restaurants, and finally somebody opened a cheerful place that was more in tune with the needs of the community. Here you could get fresh, quick Chinese food (with a bit of a Hong Kong accent) at a very reasonable price. Not so much anymore. The other Chinese restaurants in the area (notably Han Dynasty) are at least as good, so there's not much reason to come to Sang Kee anymore. I also sense that the quality has gone downhill. My last meal there consisted of a few pieces of roast pork (very fatty) with tasteless bokchoy on an immense mound of white rice. Not exactly a memorable lunch.

We had dumplings, scallion pancake, rice bowls. All food was great. Service was quick. We arrived for an early dinner (6:00 PM) and were able to get a table. It was really busy by the time we left. Clearly a popular place!

I stayed at the hotel and had an order of chicken lo mein. I found it to be dry, with a thin noodle that was easily overlooked in the stir fry. This, combined with a bad slice of pizza from across the street made me wonder how in my little suburb in my small city I have excellent pizza and good Chinese food.

Last night the food was as good as ever. However we were seated upstairs and the service was terrible. The person who sat us gave a picture menu, we had to ask someone for the regular one. Our service was spotty - at best. Our server disappeared. We had to call someone over to get water refills, more steamed rice, etc. By the time the rice came our entrees were cold. Come on Sang Kee, you can do better

Ate here while staying at the Sheraton. The restaurant is adjoined to the hotel lobby. Went in during the week with my son for a "box lunch." Good choice of items and very reasonably priced. Service was good and fast. Food was good and plentiful. Would eat here again.

The restaurant does not have traditional Chinese restaurant decor. It its contemporary with some Chinese accents. The menu is very comprehensive. The waitress was very helpful in selecting items that did not have any meat, poultry or fish products. I had a noodle dish withe vegetables and steamed tofu. Close to Penn.

Ate here my first night. Food was great, staff was a little slow and uninterested. In their defense, it was nearly closing time and the Eagles game was on the television.

Attentive and efficient service. As for the food . . . DELICIOUS!! I strongly recommend dining at Sang Kee

The food was good here. I ordered the pork Taiwanese Pork Belly bowl which came with rice a boiled egg. The portions are plentiful.

Between the amazing quality of Chef Michaels work, and the quality of staff, this is a wonderful place to go for DimSum, or lunch or dinner. The food is always good, and tasty. Most positive sign--mostly Chinese in there eating.

We participated in a private Lunar New Year Dinner. The food was beautifully presented and plentiful. The best thing is that it was not overly salted. We had mock shark fin soup, steamed bronzino, seared scallops with asparagus, squab, lamb chops in barbecue sauce, about 4 more courses and a delicious fried red bean ice cream dessert. Prices were reasonable, I'd definitely come here again.

I think this is the best beijing duck I have ever had near university city. The duck skin is crispy and the meat is soft and delicious. Probably the only problem is the pancakes are too small and only 4 per serving. Additionals will be charged. I hope they will give at least one more set per table for the price paid for half duck. As for the noodles, I don't think it is a good idea to have noodles there even if the restaurant is named a "noodle house". The noodles are not freshly made as in some places in the China town.

I love the BIG noodle bowl soups. The other food is just ok. The service is less than average and you often feel rushed. The shrimp dumplings are the best I ever had. Add them to your noodle bowl. You won't be disappointed. Call ahead and get it to go!

We ordered take-out each time, because we were staying at the Sheraton. The food was delicious! Very authentic!

My daughter and I stayed at the Sheraton while we visited UPenn last week. We were starving when we arrived and Dim Sum was still being served. We felt right at home (we live in Hong Kong) when we saw all of our Dim Sum favorites and we had a young Cantonese waiter from Hong Kong. The Dim Sum was pretty good. We had Cheong Fun which was tasty but just needed some fresh cilantro to make really good. The Char Sui pastry was good but a little doughy, but again for being in the heart of America it was very good. Char Sui Bao was light and fluffy. The Xia long bao was good too. I would definitely go back if my daughter ends up at UPenn:)

We ate here 5 times this winter while we stayed at the Sheraton. We also got take out to bring to the room. Food was always good and service was fast which was good because by the time we got into town we were starving. Very clean place and most tables have view of the street.

Excellent location, which makes this restaurant suitable for lunching if you are on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania or Drexel. Also quite inexpensive, you may have a full lunch (lunchbox) for 10$. However I found the food very average with a quite uniform taste. It tends to be quite packed up so service may not be very fast.

Great noodle dishes along with standard type entrees. Had the chicken lo mein, pot stickers and I think it was mongolian beef. Everything we ordered was very good. Loved the lo mein!

Ate breakfast every morning while staying at the hotel. Great staff and good food. Looking forward to going back.

Great menu selection of noodles and authentic Chinese dishes. Excellent staff and service. The dim sum was outstanding on the weekends. We liked it so much we ate there 4 times while staying at the Sheraton. Reasonable prices.

good food and fast service. if you like chinese give this a try. we had soup, peking duck, shangai noodles and bok choi in garlic. saw many locals eating there so good sign. the bill for the three of us was about $60

We have visited several times. Always had a good meal that was priced right. Good service, nice portions and a wide selection menu. Parking has never been a problem.

Had a private dinner here - food was amazing as usual and the service was great! Hugh was super helpful in planning with us.

Located within the Sheraton University City this large and attractive restaurant has a very extensive menu and is extremely popular with the Asian students at Penn and Drexel. Reasonable prices and prompt service also make it a good stop for pre theater dining

My husband and I ate here for breakfast and returned for dinner. We found a good selection for breakfast, both American breakfasts and Asian offerings. We ordered the "American Breakfast," consisting of two eggs, potatoes, toast, and a meat selection. Only $11 and very good. We also enjoyed the best oatmeal and fruit combination I've had in a long while. Oatmeal with fruit was only $5, or if you don't want the fruit, only $4. Wonderful portion sizes too. Great prices for a city breakfast. As for dinner, we ordered flounder with green beans and sweet and sour chicken. Both dishes were very good and nicely portioned. Brown rice was cooked perfectly. We had dim sum, which my hubby loved, and shrimp spring rolls, stuffed tight with shrimp. Great meals at great prices in a clean spot with great service!

One of the many Sang Kees in the Philadelphia area, this one is located at Penn and the Sheraton hotel. Don't overlook this one as they have great service and a very nice menu.

Occasionally I have an urge for noodle soup with roast pork and veggies. Most often I go to a lunch-counter restaurant in Reading Terminal Market that has the same name -- excellent soup, with lots of pork and baby bok choi. Unfortunately, this branch (if it is a branch) is cutting corners. Not as much pork, and stems of something (broccolini??) rather than the baby bok choi--and the noodles are straight from a package (think ramen but thinner) and have to sit a while in the broth to rehydrate. The service is fine and the setting is pleasant. It's clearly very popular with the Penn crowd, to judge by the customers.

Tipped off this place had good peaking duck and definitely not disappointed. The peaking duck for four came with at least another three dishes. Maybe there was even too much food. Generously priced, good drinks, nice fun lively atmosphere.

Since this restaurant is in the Sheraton and we were staying there, we decided to try it out for breakfast and dinner. B'fast was nearly empty, and Tony our server was funny and super nice. (An older Chinese guy and really tall.) When my wife ordered chicken dumplings (there's only 4) from the Chinese Breakfast menu, he chided her that it wouldn't be enough. I ordered a $10 croissant/egg sandwich with bacon and potatoes (cubed). He brought out mine (HUGE) and added 2 big sausage links for my wife! He even took the fork and knife from my hands and cut the sausage for her (she was holding a toddler) and placed it on her plate. He brought an extra orange juice in a lidded cup for the kid (I actually odered APPLE juice for myself, not orange) and brought out a big to-go coffee for the wife when we left. He also brought toast and jam for the kid. Dinner I ordered to-go since the place was packed. They were out of menus but the business card had the website where I perused the food and ordered online. Just wish the descriptions were a little... descriptive. I got Chow Fun based on 1 TripAdvisor recommendation and it was by far the best of 3 dishes we got. "Small Dish" of grilled lemon grass chicken was pretty bland -- just call it grilled chicken. The "Sang Kee's Favorites" of pork tenderloin in sweet & sour peking sauce was fancy porkchops in a generic sugary sauce with rice. The "Noodle Dish" chow fun was great, even for leftovers. Dinner took about 20 mins to cook. Would eat here again.

I had breakfast and lunch here. Service was quick and friendly. Breakfast was like any other for me ... one egg & two pieces of wheat with coffee and water ... can't really mess that up. Had the lunch box later in the day ... tasty and nice portions. Try the lunch special.

A favorite when my husband and I are in University City.Delicious noodle bowls. Tons of options. Perfect for a date, going out with family, or with friends.

This well-priced, well-located restaurant on the Penn campus is worth seeking out. It is in the Sheraton Hotel. Order the dumplings - they are the best I've ever had. My wife and I ordered the large noodle soups. I liked the Pho with meatballs, and she liked hers: an udon vegetable soup with shrimp. Only drawbacks: noisy, service staff that speaks broken English. But I guess that adds to the ambience.

It's tops for its noodle, wonmton soups, particularly the braised beef version

his place is pretty good, before I get to the food the big positive difference is the location....36th and Chestnut is usually easier to park than Chinatown..also for us in the western suburbs its 10 minutes closer each way; Things we liked, beef and egg noodle soup, chicken spring rolls, General Toa chicken, dan dan noodles (although mid level - nowhere near Han dynasty quality), also have dogfish 60 min in bottles. one tiny complaint is the soup came out the same time as the entrees (actually 3 minutes afterwards) so we took most of it home with some other leftovers. However we definitely will be going back again..

Sang Kee Noodle House is located in the hotel we were staying at, Sheraton Philadelphia University City Hotel. The food is delicious and the best part was we didn't have to leave our hotel!

As guests at the Sheraton Philadelphia University my wife and I enjoyed many meals, both breakfast & dinner at Sang Kee. The service is friendly & efficient but most importantly the food is fresh and delicious. Highly recommend the wonton soup for dinner, or breakfast! Since our stay at the Sheraton took place over Christmas, we enjoyed a great Christmas dinner here. It's always crowded on the weekends but the staff is very accommodating. On one busy night, a rude party cut in front of us while waiting for a table. When I mentioned this, the host treated us to a complimentary appetizer and waived the corkage fee for us. You can BYOB but there is a $10 corkage fee. We found that worthwhile since wine is $10 a glass. I'd be remiss if I didn't give Tony, our breakfast server, a shout out. He was was a welcomed distraction as my wife & I experienced the stress of having a child needing surgery at Children's Hospital. Tony was efficient (always had a bowl of hot chile paste ready for me) & so much fun. He always sent us away with a little goodie bag of cookies & fruit. I hope he sees this review. Thanks for the laughs "Buddy." Another nice touch is the warm towels the staff provides after meals. So glad we are going to dine here tonight, because writing this has gotten me so hungry for Sang Kee.

I was staying at the Sharaton, and was pleasantly surprised that a very well reviewed Chinese noodle shop was right downstairs. I had the Chicken Spring Rolls and the Steamed Shanghai Juicy Buns for a starter. Both were excellent. My main course was the Roast Duck Stir Fries Udon Noodles at the suggestion of one of the hosts. It was very, very delicious. I came away from this resturant feeling very satisfied, and for less than 40 dollars including a beer. This is an easy 5 star rating for me.

The service was excellent. The menu was easy to read with pictures of the dishes. The food arrived promptly and was prepared to our desire. The prices were very affordable. It was right in the middle of University City.

We arrived late to the hotel in pouring rain, so this was a welcome sight! It is inside the hotel and very inexpensive. The service was really fast and the food was decent but average.

We knew we'd likely get authentic cuisine here when we walked in and saw that most of the diners were Asian and that the menu was in both English and Chinese. The food was very good. The service was average. The atmosphere is lively but sophisticated, with lots of Asian students. Would definitely return and try more dishes.

Chow Fun noodles are the king of noodles, fresh, silky wide and thin, these noodles are great with chicken and a flavorful brown sauce. This place has the best chicken chow fun I can remember> we walked in at a few minutes before noon and by 12:10, the large restaurant was completely full. Apparently, everyone in the neighborhood (UPenn) knows about it. Someone I spoke to there claimed that another Sang Kee in town was better, but this one was good enough for me.

Usually restaurants in hotels are rather boring, so I was pleasantly surprised by this gem in a Sheraton. When you see a large local contingent ( in this case college students and professors ) you know you're in for something good. It was a rather eclectic selection with far more unfamiliar choices than this small town boy is accustomed to . The service was fast , helpful and friendly. The food was hot and great. My main course of seafood and noodles seemed to increase in size as I ate it. The seafood was fresh and well prepared.

We had a very good breakfast at Sang Kee, while staying at the Sheraton on Chestnut St., and we want to say "thank you" , and maybe we can return some day and try your Asian dim sum!

Caters to University students in the area, so quite affordable. High marks for presentation and taste. Also, staff were awesome. Not many places will work for you when you're in a hurry. This one did. I had a train to catch in less than an hour. One of the wait staff noticed as soon as I started to look like I was ready to order and came to my aid. He gave accurate estimates of how long it would take for my order to be ready. When i realized I needed to get going, he packed up the remainder (very neat and portably) and brought my check in a snap.

We are here as it is connected to the Sheraton University Hotel Philadelphia where we stayed on a brief visit at U Penn. It was late and we chose it for convenience. What a pleasant surprise! We had fantastic Asian food which was enjoyed by the whole family! The soups, appetizers and main meal were authentic and the proportions were more than generous. The service was very quick and the staff attentive. We are Asian cuisine snobs. The restaurant is clean, modern and has an outdoor seating area, bar. We ended up eating breakfast here as part of the hotel package and this was very good as well. It deserves its top Philadelphia rating.

from the California bay area, we enjoy many Chinese restaurants, learned about this Chinese restaurant from attended a wedding that served Peking Ducks (wow, even at the Bay areas, not every restaurant can make this dishes ), by the way, taste was very authentic, so we decide to pay a visit, at here, we meet owners, our dishes included the special steam fish (on menu) of course, the Peking Ducks, thanks to the owner he shared secrets the preparation, cooking between Cantonese and Peking Ducks...all I can say again, was" WOW". food quality was so good and all in reasonable prices, menu was long, services- I gave two thumbs up, restaurant has very awesome decoration, nice & relaxing atmosphere, yes, I recommended this Restaurant.

Went there twice, perfect for us and the price reasonable. We tried a variety of things including drinks and deserts. One time alas they did seem to forget us but we flagged down a server eventually to order more items.

If you are looking for a quick chinese food meal that is priced very reasonable this restaurant will not disappoint. Portions large enough to share and the restaurant is full of students who appreciate the value.

We were surprised that this restaurant had plenty of empty tables on a hot Saturday night in July. The service was friendly but not too friendly and the food lived up to the excellent reviews that we had read on this site.

Dinner and lunch over several days. All meals were great. Staff took care of our family during our stay. Recommend for fast service and a great meal. Thank you.

I've been to Sang Kee a few times now, and can say that their food is pretty good. Service can be a little slow at times, but it's not too bad. They have a very large menu, and do allow you to substitute things (like pork instead of duck in a dish).

Great selection of oriental food. Good selection, reasonable prices, fast and located in University City in Sheraton Hotel. Hotel has parking garage which is great as it’s hard to find parking in this area of town

Like the food and the atmosphere. For all kinds of food, the process of making them is fast. They are delicious but not expensive!

There is a lot of choice on the menu. Entrees are large. Servers were friendly and attentive. Food was good.

We stayed at the Sheraton University City and the restaurant is located downstairs. My family and I ate there and we all had rave reviews from the egg rolls to the Watermelon smoothie to the Noodles! We had the Singpore noodles with and without the curry and we substituted the pork for chicken best ever and plentiful! That will be my first stop the next time I come to Philly😊

Floor greasy, food salty, service fair. Literally the very worst. We have eaten Chinese food in all major cities, including Beijing, so it's not like we don't know what is good. How this place is in business is beyond me. Don't go.

I brought my mother here for dinner and was so disappointed, having eaten here many times and been very happy. The noodles were greasy, the special soft shell crabs were way too salty, and the service was mediocre at best. Maybe it was an off night.
Hong Kong quality Chinese restaurant
Authentic and excellent!, Another reason why I choose to stay at the Sheraton University City! Yummy, yummy, yummy!
