Okay Lunch Takeout

By CharlieinTexas |

Take out for lunch for 3. $50. A bit pricey. Daughter’s lightly fried fish was tasty. My tandoori chicken was okay, pretty plain and a bit dry. Son-in-law didn’t really comment on his meal. Also had the goat soup. Was tasty, a bit spicy, and looked like 2 small goat feet/bones, with a gelatinous substance, not meaty taste or substance. Just okay. Will look elsewhere next time.

Best Indian Restaurant in Austin Area

By Balasubramanya Basuvaraj |

One of the best Indian restaurants that I have been to in the whole of United States. I ate at least one meal per day during my entire stay in Austin. Food was excellent and thoroughly satisfying. The spice level was just right. On days I worked, I got my food delivered from the restaurant by Uber Eats and on weekend I went to the restaurant itself. I would have loved to try their weekend biriyani specials. But they had run out of it. I recommend the Sangam Special Pepper Chicken Fry and the Chettinad Curry. Both were spicy and excellent.

Avoidable

By Ramdas P |

We found the food at this restaurant just passable and the staff totally ignorant. My wife has mushroom allergy and the waiter just shrugged when asked saying he didn't know and couldn't be bothered to check if there were mushrooms in the food. Wouldn't go back.

A place not to be missed!

By 2008J-V |

A place not to be missed! Great meal, authentic Indian cuisine, with a fee dishes we'd not tried before. In addition to superp food (and generous portions), all the staff were fantastic, made us all feel very welcome, including our very young grandson.

Excellent Tika Masala

By Jay F |

Ordered takeout. First time to have their food. Portions are generally large and we ordered way too much. The fried cashew appetizer was tasty but gigantic - a caloric bomb. The savory fried donut appetizer was also good, but we will probably order different appetizers in the future. The entrees more appealing to us. The Tika Masala was outstanding. Both the Saag Paneer and the lamb dish we ordered were good to very good. The naan and rice are good. Overall we found them appealing and will order again, and dine in once Covid calms down.

Terrible Service

By Road47972599333 |

😪On 05/28/2023, my family of five and a friend's family of 7 went there for dinner. My family and I reached the restaurant before my friend's family and were assigned the seating within 10 minutes. My friend's family came to the restaurant after 15 minutes, and they were assigned seating at the other end of the restaurant. I ordered appetizers and entrees. As I was aware that Indian restaurants usually don't follow any protocols in serving the appetizers and entrees, I requested the waiter to serve the appetizer prior to the main course. To our disappointment, the server delivered the appetizers and two entrees at the same time. Three of us had ordered mutton Biriyani for our main course, which came 50 minutes after serving the main course for two of us. Meanwhile, my friend's family had done with their food. Interestingly, my friend's family also ordered Mutton Biriyani for their main course. When I questioned the server, he was rude at me and spoke as if they don't care if we eat there or visit there again. He started arguing with me to cover up their delay in serving. I strongly believe the server hasn't changed or learned anything about food serving in the USA. He's still having the mindset from India. He should be trained well to deal with the customers. I don't recommend this restaurant.

No buffet

By Meena B |

First time to this location in Austin, TX. It was empty but us in for dining. Fresh food and it came in a timely manner though ordered from a la carte as there is no buffet due to COVID. I ordered mini meals (veg) which came with roti, rice, 2 curries, sambar, rasam and a sweet. More than enough for one person & good to share between 2 ppl. Service was good and timely. During this pandemic, getting fresh food from restaurant to be highly appreciated esply when they don't have many ppl dining in. There were lot of To Go orders sitting at the table we saw during our check out.

Still Very Good Food

By docwhiteaustin |

We continue to have lunch here about once a month. Pretty much our go/to for Indian food. Dosas are always big, fresh and crispy- you know, that perfect outer crunch that makes them such a pleasure. I continue to get the North Indian Non-Veg Lunch. Always a pleasing combination of flavors, heat levels, and textures. Chicken Tikka Masala is always tender, creamy and just spicy enough for me. Staff is always very friendly to us and prices very reasonable.

Chelpi was a fantastic waitress,

By Michelle |

Chelpi was a fantastic waitress, provided suggestions, and happy to explain dishes unfamiliar to me. Having never experienced Southern Indian food I don’t have anything to compare it to. That being said the food was fantastic, just the right amount of spice. Definitely recommend and will absolutely visit again. The veggie samosas were packed with fresh peas, well seasoned, with a flaky golden crust. Dosa & chicken curry was perfect as was the garlic nann, and sag paneer. Also, they do serve wine & beer despite it not being on their online menu.

Bad attitude.

By Trip26040179417 |

The food is good, well presented and sufficient, however, the standard of service leaves much to be desired; the staff are either complacent, disinterested or downright arrogant. There is no feeling of being welcome here, such a shame after creating a beautiful interior, good food and spoil it with surly waiters/hosts, bordering on rudeness. A very poor show.

Best Dosa's outside of India!!

Authentic Indian Cuisine of the Highest Quality

By David L |

Quality and truly authentic Indian food! The pairing and depth of flavors was excellent. The staff were very attentive, and the service was great. I ordered the mutton masala.

Unpleasant Experience with Arrogant Receptionist

By Getaway53143788050 |

This morning, I visited this place and had an unpleasant experience with their receptionist. Despite being busy, it is not acceptable for them to treat their customers poorly. After ordering to go, I decided to cancel due to the delay and not wanting to rush or disrupt the kitchen staff. However, the receptionist was impolite and even yelled at me. Initially, they did not provide a full refund, but after showing them the bill, they gave me the cash. This behavior could be due to their arrogance, as they seem to let their little success get to their head. I urge them to treat their customers with humility and respect, or else their business will suffer in the long run. If they fail, their rude behavior towards customers will be the reason. The food was decent, but if you have any self-respect, it's not worth going there. I have no intention of revisiting this place.

Excellent Catering

By VVenk |

Catering Breakfast and Lunch for our sons engagement and we had an unforgettable culinary experience. Vignesh was very attentive and went above and beyond to provide us good service on the phone. Some of the dishes we ordered were made to order and outside of the regular menu. They were very punctual in delivering the food on time. The taste was flavorful from the main course to desert. High quality ingredients were used and since we had asked for less oil and spice, the dishes were catered as per our requests.

Wonderful

By Elizabeth R |

The food was great, the staff was helpful, and I would def come again. I really enjoyed the samosas and my meal. I tried the Tikka masala and the butter masala. So good! I forgot to take pics, so maybe next time. Their iced coffee is amazing btw!

Pleasant Lunch, Generous Portions

By Counterweight |

I recently had lunch here with my vegetarian wife. There was a decent crowd inside when we arrived, but we were seated promptly. The space is very open and oriented towards communal dining, like many Indian restaurants. I ordered the shrimp tikka masala, and I really enjoyed it. The sauce was rich but not cloyingly so, and the naan that came with it was fabulous. Light, fluffy and perfectly capable of soaking up the masala. My wife ordered a vegetarian tiffin dish, it came with a bunch of side dish-sized selections that included a lentil dish, a coconut curry dish and several other tasty offerings. The rice was perfectly cooked, and again served as a great tool for soaking up the sauces in both our dishes. It wasn't always easy to get the attention of the staff (they're moving around constantly), but they were friendly and quick to react to our order and our requests. I definitely recommend Sangam if you're looking for a traditional tikka masala or vindaloo, but also if you want to try something new from South Indian cuisine.

Avoid this place like a plague

By Amit B |

Mediocre food. Terrible service. Went there the other day for the first (and last) time. Service was beyond terrible, wait staff were smug and even the Manager made a very non sincere apology when I raised it with him at the end. Waste of time and money when you have so many other South Indian restaurants in Austin.

Excellent Indian Food. Great Lunch Specials

By docwhiteaustin |

Have now had lunch twice in the past 10 days here. Very fresh, tasty and well-prepared. Excellent value for lunchtime meals. Dinner menu looks very reasonable as well. They serve both Northern and Southern Indian styles in your choice of vegetarian or non-veg. My favorite is the North Indian Non-Veg Lunch Meal - an assortment of curries, sambas, daal, tikka masala, and other small servings that vary slightly from time to time along with rice, naan, yogurt, and a bit of sweet fruity dessert to finish. Their Chicken Saag is delicious. Wonderful Dosas. Friendly and helpful service , especially for those like me who love Indian cuisine but are still too Texan to know the proper names for the dishes! Pleasant surprise for us to find this place. Recommended!

Excellent Food with good ambience

By Gita V |

On June 30, we went to Sangam Chettinad for the first time with our family of 6 members. Fortunately for a Friday evening, we did not have to wait and got a table immediately. The food that we had ordered turned out to be very good. We had onion pakora, idiappam, gobi manchurian, madurai malli masala, idli vada combo, plain dasa, onion rava dosa, tomato onion oothappam and to complete our meal, we had carrot halwa which was simply divine! The food was prepared just to our taste with just the right masala. Mahesh was our server and he took care of our needs and made sure that the carrot halwa reached our table on time. Thank you Mahesh, for making our trip to Sangam Chittinad, a pleasant experience. Despite the restaurant being huge, we felt like we had personalized service. Excellent food and excellent service. A big shout out to Mahesh and the cooks of Sangam! Keep up the good quality!

Reminiscent of Chennai

By musictraveler40 |

I just returned from two weeks in Chennai (go look it up if you don't know where it is) and I was really missing the wonderful local cuisine. Luckily for my wife and I, Sangam Chettinad opened not far from our house just a few short weeks ago. We dined on Chikken Tikka, Chicken 65, some Saag and Chicken Masala, along with some tasty Naan. For the price, you get a lot of food. It's tasty, not corrupted by western ingredients and our carry-out order was ready right on time. If you're far from home and living in this area, I highly recommend it. If you've just returned from that faraway land and want to revisit it with your palette again and again, Sangam Chettinad is the place for you.

Great place

Great food.. their service was a little slow in the beginning however it got better with time and now the food and service go hand in hand. Always fresh food and always courteous and friendly staff.

Got spoiled food and no one responds to my calls

By Rajesh |

Worst food. I ordered food online (Idiyappam with coconut milk, Transaction # 100003, Ref # 913000601950) on 10 May 2019. I got spoiled food, it was smelling bad and color difference too . I called the restaurant they mentioned all are busy and the manager will get back to me in 20 minutes. But no one contacted me at all. Beware of this restaurant. If you need copy of bill / image of food, contact me.

South India Of Southern U.S

Great ambience, great food. Dosas and Idli were amazing. Great hospitality and staff. Interesting was to see robots serving drinks on the tables :-) Lassi wasn't that great so would recommend improvement there.

Breakfast great, luncvh not so great for service

By hvdesai |

Visited this restaurant 3 times. @ for Breakfast and it was great both for service and food. Visited third time for lunch. Food was great but service was lousy. Ordered additional Masla Chai never came. Had to ask for Desert and waiter asked if I wanted it thought it was part of the meal. Since I was alone, they did not feel compelled enough to pay attention just like they were observed doing for party of 2 or more. I had coupon and the email did not state that minimum order needed to be $25, but when I showed them the coupon they stated that min order must be $25. Why they cannot specify it on the website as well as email a person receives?

Awesome South Indian food

By gkn1214 |

Enjoyed an evening with friends. The special comment is about their masala dosa. As compared against other Indian restaurants their dosa felt like oil free. Very fresh chutnys and service was great too.

Bad experience with my takeout order

By Vineetha E |

I ordered 3 chicken biryani’s to treat my guest at home and it was a takeout order. Quantity was too less and there was very less chicken in it. Also biryani was too oily as i had to waste the bottom part of the tray. Sad to say had bad experience for First time with this restaurant.

Took customer feedback positively

By Shaila K |

Visited with friends & family. There was particular dish that arrived soon as ordered, evidently pre cooked and not adequately warmed up.We did express disappointment to our Table service staff,Magnesh who was extremely polite and accepted our disappointment & feedback over the dish and was honest to admit it was precooked. His honesty is extremely appreciated and must be valued member of staff. Thank you as rest of the food ordered was delightfully tasty.

Our go to Indian restaurant for South Indian food

By TA_Gavin |

Good casual spot for tasty indian food. We like their dosas, and other south indian dishes. The place is always packed on the weekends but the food is served with minimum wait times.
