You can tell a lot about this place when you realize that virtually the entire staff is Italian. This is not a plush muted high end restaurant, nor is it your typical Mom and Pop spaghetti joint with the same old same old menu. The decor is casual (fishnets and buoys) and rustic. While it can be cramped and a bit noisy, it does offer outdoor patio dining. Its primarily seafood menu delivers on quality, value and character. The home made pasta with mixed seafood was cooked perfectly with tiny juicy clams, fresh, sweet shrimp, calamari (not just rings, but the tentacles radiating from a succulent center) and mussels. I've had the swordfish; a nice thick steak offered with a pesto ladled over it. The bread is crusty outside and pillowy inside, used to sop up a fruity delicious olive oil. The wine list, primarily Italian labels, offers some interesting and excellent wines, mostly in the moderate price range.

Charming restaurant in Coconut Grove! My rigatoni was delicious! The portion is enough. The calamari was also very good but my husband told me that was a little greasy. The best thing was the tiramisu and the service that was outstanding!

This is a neighborhood restaurant in the Grove; ambiance feels crowded and noisy. However food and service in this place are awesome! The manager is great, and so are the employees. Ask for the Cacio e Pepe pasta, served inside a pecorino cheese. This dish is not on the menu however they are famous for it !

Make sure to book a table as the place is small and well known. Food is outstanding, fast service and wines very reasonable priced. A great little gem. But you'll have to look for parking if you drive there.

Fabulous find through TripAdvisor, walked by thinking this could not be the place, went to another restaurant, but so disappointed there so followed the advise and went to Sapore. From the outside looks are deceiving, sandwiched between at 24 pharmcy and nail salon. But ambience inside is Italian and food was amazing. Felt transported to Italy Sophia was very informative and service could not have been better. Food was truly Italian and surpassed our expectations!!

This restaurant is absolutely terrific. The location on Grand Avenue is easy to walk to. The restaurant is small in front but does have a large rear dining room. We went on a Monday night - packed by 8 pm. It definitely has a following as many people appear to be regulars and we can see why. The food was some of the best homemade Italian we have ever had. The salads are big enough to share - We had the baby spinach with goat cheese, pancetta, pine nuts in a raspberry dressing. Very Very good. My husband ordered the home made spaghetti Sapore with shrimp, squid, clams and mussels - delicious. My pappardelle with asparagus, porcini mushrooms, pancetta was very very good - all pasta al dente (the way it should be). All homemade pasta and bread made onsite. We felt like we were back in Italy in a neighborhood trattoria. Thank you for such a fantastic meal. Could not handle dessert but perhaps next time. Want to add that our waitress (she was a captain - petite blonde) was a real bonus. She was friendly, funny and very helpful with the menu and making suggestions. She was a real delight and you could tell she loves her job and working at this restaurant (perhaps she is the owner!!) While we were visitors - we do come to Miami often and will definitely be back.

Nothing but positive things to say about this place! From the food to the service.....everything was impeccable. Can't wait to go back...definitely our new go to place when in Miami. I highly recommend making reservations on the weekend. The restaurant itself isn't very big and does get very busy.

This building has been through many great restaurants ( the previous was French and Fantastic). I am quite pleased with the new Italian seafood. Firstly, it is welcoming (very important in the Grove) but more importantly, the food is WONDERFUL! Zuppa was great. The ravioli (my Primo) was obviously made with great care on site. My partner had a fresh grilled salmone that looked delicious. My scallopine was wonderful! Best wishes to the place. Give it a try! BTW GREAT Italian wines!

Excellent restuarant The best seafood pasta i ate Homemade pasta Great atmosphere Great service Great termissu

We booked a table for two on a Sat. night before a movie. We were hoping for a better dinner. Service was timely and attentive . The food needs some attention . SPINACH SALAD: The raspberry dressing had an after taste of aging dressing - did not feel fresh. The spinach Leeds however were top notch fresh and crispy and so was the cheese. My wife was happy with her salad. BRANZINO Backed in salt crust: Was served lukewarm temperature and undercooked. I left most of it on the plate which went unnoticed. Braised octopus - Seemed fresh and well prepared . Skipped dessert and ordered macchiato. The macchiato was sub par and I left it on the table. My take is that Dapore Di Mare means well but may fall short on a Busy Sat. night. Perhaps we will try it one more time on a week day.

Overall average quality cuisine. Seafood quality and freshness is pretty low. One dish was really bad. One mussel was terrible, rotten. Service pretty weak (they forgot the utensils few times). But worse than anything we all had stomachache for the following 3 days starting from 2 hours from the meal. $70 per person for 2 dishes of this quality is kinda pricey but it’s not the main complain at all.

Great food here, with many gluten-free options, and you'll feel you're in Italy. Bring cash to avoid the charge-card fee (they do NOT charge an additional "service" fee or guaranteed tip) fee and get an inside table to avoid being on Grand Avenue's sidewalk unless you enjoy the many revving engines and backfires of grandstanding morons in their muscle and exotic cars. What did we love? Everything: G-F Funghi & Carciofi ($20), Gamberoni all Griglia ($34), Strozzapreti al pest con Gamberoni ($26), and Tagliatelle della Nonnna ($27). My favorite wine by the glass: Vermentino, at $19 each. So not inexpensive, but worth it.

We went here on a whim and this restaurant did not disappoint. The manager was lovely and recommended a few choices off the menu which were spectacular. All the pasta is homemade and the fish was beautifully cooked. Pic is spaghetti in a cheese and truffle sauce served in a pecorino bowl. So good.

After a movie in Coconut Grove we went here on the recommendation of the Ritz Carlton concierge Key Biscayne. His tip was spot on and we found the charming entrance a short walk from our theater. The hostess asked if we had a reservation (it was 6:30) and when told no carefully consulted a list and seating diagram before fitting us in next to the kitchen. These somewhat cramped seats turned out to be ringside on a culinary adventure and perfect for feeling part of the frenetic pace of this restaurant. We agreed that our waiter had personality, knew the food and wine list and wanted us to be well fed and perfectly served. Water service well chilled and chewy Italian bread with strong olive oil for dipping began the evening. Our wine selection was an Italian Col de Sasso chardonnay with 12% alcohol which made quaffing possible and it was perfect with our fish. Dinner began with Carpaccio Salmone atop arugula with shaved onion and tomato. The quality of the salmon was great and with capers, lemon and the salad a perfect refresher. The main course was Branzino al Sale with the salt removed in the kitchen under the watchful eve of master chef Valter Mancini and served with roasted potatoes and brocollini. The fish was lite with a hint of salt and a few bones here and there.Following all of this we did not need but wanted dessert and chose the pistachio ice cream with grilled pistachios accompanying. .There is no bar but beer and wine are plentiful.I would like to try the special cheese pasta served in a cheese round which is not on the menu but ordered by the locals in quantity!

We visit this awesome restaurant three or four times a year. We can count on great food quality and service. Great value for your dollar, we love seating on the back terrace. Never a bad meal so far, love their variety of raviolis.

Very pleasant and personal service, freshest seafood are here! Great pasta and Italian espresso. Hidden gem in the heart of Coconut Grove.

This is the authentic italian experience, Veronica brings you back to the old country and leads you through to the “made-in-italy” “savoir-faire”. Incredible gourmet dishes like “cannolicchi”, impossible to find in Miami, people in-the-know understands! Risotto nero with calamari rich and tasteful and perfectly cooked. I highly recommended if you are ready for the through Italian “dolce-vita”.

Veronica, the hostess was very friendly and accommodating. Angelo, our server was awesome, professional and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling in the area!

We really enjoyed this Italian seafood restaurant, which was suggested by Portuguese friends living in Miami. The quality of the fish and seafood was great. The pasta was also very good. The wine options were also very good. Staff was efficient and friendly. Highly recommended

Four of us were in the area for golf and this was recommended for Italian Seafood. The restaurant strictly followed local requirements for all staff to wear masks and customers to wear masks to and from their well spaced out tables. My advice would be to follow your waiter's advice, as they all appeared experienced (and Italian!). The bread was beyond outstanding, always a good sign at a restaurant. We split two salads and one of the crudi's, both exceptional. Two of us had the recommended spaghetti with tiger shrimp special, which sounded basic but was made special but a light cream sauce that was out of this world. Dessert was a remarkably light tiramisu. Prices was very reasonable for the quality, would expect to pay 50% more of less quality in Atlanta or (especially) New York. Can not recommend more highly.

This bustling Italian restaurant is the "real deal", the atmosphere, service and food exceeded our expectations by far. I owned and operated my own restaurant in the Caribbean for almost 40 years and am therefore extremely hard to please when it comes to food, it was SO refreshing to find a place that titillated my taste buds! Every bite was a taste sensation, each course beautifully presented and served with Italian flair. I don't usually order dessert, but after eating the delicious appetizers (we shared 2) and some perfect Dover sole I knew that their tiramisu would be outstanding and it WAS. Well done Sapore Di Mare!

The food was amazing. Reminds me so much of Italy. I def Recomended this place. Fabuloso. I will return next trip

Just had one of the best meals we’ve had in Miami. We had an early dinner before 6 pm tonight (Thursday) and it was good we arrived early...the place was filling up when we left after 7. We shared a dish, Sapore di Mare, a pasta dish with seafood and white wine, followed by espresso. The staff was so pleasant, worked together with obvious teamwork, and made the whole experience positive and enjoyable.

The dont respect the lines . If a friend of the owner comes they dont go by the list . The give the table and you will have to wait

The seafood was not fresh or well cooked. When the waiter asked, after the meal, if everything was ok, and we said "so-and-so" , there was zero reaction or follow-up

I visited the restaurant - waiters I little arrogant. When I asked for the bill they brought me restaurant bill - I looked over and all seemed fine. I gave them my credit card then they brought me the credit card receipt and I noticed I was charged double on that receipt. Obviously I pointed it out and they charged the correct amount. I spoke to several of my friends that frequent the restaurant and they told me they had a similar experience. Be careful this restaurant might be scamming customer. Most people will only review the restaurant bill not their credit card receipt.

Last Friday, although I was unable to secure a reservation via Open Table, I called the restaurant, the Manager was kind enough to squeeze us in at 7 PM. This was much appreciated since the restaurant was fully booked. The dining room was really small but it has a strong Italian vibration. I was pleasantly surprised to see most of the wait staff was fluent in Italian. The service was amazing. I was treated like a true “Paesano”. This gave me an opportunity to practice my Italian. In my humble opinion, Sapore Di Mare is more a “Trattoria” than a “Ristorante” but more formal than an Osteria. However, the prices were more of a formal Ristorante than a Trattoria. Although the service was perfect, the food was tasteless but fresh and, everything was absurdly overpriced. Paying $46 for a “baby” size Branzino or $46 for a Fish of the day (Gallinella) was a real joke. The Ravioli di Aragosta (Lobster Ravioli) was undercooked and flavorless. Even the mussels (Impepata di Cozze) was a complete disaster. I don’t think the Chef or the Cooks are Italians at all. I think they should go to Caffe Abbracci or Fratellino in Coral Gables to taste some real Italian food. In fact, even the pasta side order (Penne) was chewy (not “al dente”) and tasteless. Overall, it was a complete waste of my time and my money to drive to Coconut Grove when I have some outstanding Italian restaurants closer to my home. Next time I want to spend over $200 on Italian food, Sapore Di Mare will not be on my list.

This is a charming informal place. We got there at 6PM. We say right down. The service was superb. Explained everything on the menu. The only complaint was the servings are huge. The bread is divine. The food was excellent. Just let bed the whole experience. Just a bit pricey. But it was worth it.

Amazing food and very friendly staff. They welcomed us when they were about to close. Would highly recommend if you like seafood and Italian food

Sapore De Mari restaurant is quite small, but really nice and cosy. It has tables inside and outside too. The staff is very polite and friendly. They serve great, unbelievably delicious and fresh food. The prices are also available and are appropriate to the dishes you order.

The restaurant is quite small as others have mentioned so reservations are highly recommended. We were lucky to have 1:30 pm reservations on a Sunday because it was crowded! The locale is beautifully decorated with a beach theme- even the restroom. It does get quite loud but we didn’t mind it. Service was good although the waiters were a bit rushed. The appetizers were served promptly, the entrees not so much. We had the burratta with Procciuto and the fried calamari; both delicious. The tagliatelle with lamb was very nice and so was the spaghetti with cheese (forgot the name) made inside the whole pecorino cheese. The waitress brings the cheese to the table and mixes it with the pasta. It adds a nice touch to your meal experience. It wasn’t on the menu but it is quite popular here. I didn’t give it five stars because they lack a children’s menu as well as allergy friendly options. I don’t expect a full allergy friendly menu, but at least one pasta dish without eggs. All pastas are made with eggs so if you have an egg allergy your only option is fish and they weren’t sure if the bread had eggs. No children’s menu doesn’t just mean no pictures or crayons to color with, but that you’ll have to choose your kid’s meal from the same menu you will order. Same size, same ingredients. The fish we ordered for the child with the egg allergies was served with zucchini and risotto. Needless to say, she only ate the fish. This might not be an issue for some, but just be aware. My daughter had the spaghetti with Raggu sauce. Although she was adamant at first, (she couldn’t see the “red sauce”) she really enjoyed it. We obviously took more than half of it home though. Overall I would recommend the restaurant but go without kids.

Good restaurant to taste Italian food in South Miami. Alessio and Veronica will make you feel like at home. Do not hesitate to visit if you are around the area.

We decided to give the ritual Sunday brunch a miss and go for a leisurely lunch at ‘Sapore di Mare’, a small Italian restaurant located at 3111 Grand Avenue, Coconut Grove, Miami, FL 33133. With such an evocative name, we expected to find this restaurant perched on the edge of a quayside along the water front and not on a very busy and dusty street in the heart of Coconut Grove. This small Italian restaurant is the brainchild of 2 very experienced restaurateurs: Giorgina Calabrese and Matteo Paderni, both involved in 2 previous successful Italian restaurant ventures in Miami. The website of this restaurant describes ‘Sapore di Mare’ as a ‘nautical-chic’ setting. This description is meaningless and purely an image enhancement on the part of the PR restaurant’s agency. This sunlit restaurant, with its minimalist décor and furniture, has all the features that characterize a small, cozy and local bistro. The tables of different sizes and the attractively crafted, comfortable and easy to main upholstered classic Bentwood Michael Thonet chairs give the restaurant a sleek look and an elegant seating arrangement. Having completely misjudged our travel time to the restaurant, we arrived early at ‘Sapore di Mare’. This did not seem to cause any problem to the charming hostess who welcomed us warmly at the restaurant, and immediately ushered us to an empty table. The two person table assigned to us was perfect for an intimate dining experience. Sapore di Mare’s menu is seafood focused and has plenty to propose to everyone. However, there is nothing particularly distinctive on this menu. Many of the dishes on offer are Italian classics, even if the interpretation and execution of the recipes are moderately different. This is the kind of food that is found in many Italian restaurants all over Miami. It is an accepted fact that Italians are world’s leading innovators in fashion, furniture, leather goods, automobile and interior designs to name a few, so how can it be explained that Italian cuisine remains unapologetically repetitive and profoundly entrenched in its long culinary traditions? A cuisine that has still a broad popular appeal, but lacks daring, imagination and novelty. We do not go to Italian restaurants just to eat pasta, or spaghetti with clams, even if some Italians do. We can cook these dishes ourselves at home! We had a good lunch at “Sapore di Mare’, which is by no means a gastronomy hub. The food, not particularly original, was well cooked and nicely presented. The portion size were very correct. Bearing in mind the simplicity of the food, we are of the view that $150 for two, including a bottle of drinkable ‘Gavi di Gavi’, is on the high side. Customer service was faultless and immaculate, carried out by a waitstaff exuding good humor and bonhomie. We strongly feel that the outdated practice of doctoring untasted food with black pepper from a wooden mill, as high a the leaning tower of Pisa, should be dispensed with. Conclusion If like us, you want to discover an Italian cuisine with more gusto and imagination, then forget ‘Sapore di Mare’. On the contrary, if you are keen on Italian classics then do not hesitate to give this restaurant a try. You will be well looked after. In this case we wish you a very successful and enjoyable dining experience, Swiss Visitors, June 2017

Quite nice eaterie in Coconut Grove. Would not go out of my way to return but service is good, food average. Nice street to sit, eat and watch world go by.

What a wonderful surprise to find this hidden gem in Coconut Grove, Miami! . I went there with my daughter, Christi Tasker, who is a candidate for City Commissioner in District 2 and we had THE most amazing dinner from beginning to end! The calamari was Superb- in true Italian style and my Papaardelle Al brazato with lamb shank was divine! The service and attention to detail was first class. At one point I closed my eyes and was transported back to Italy!

We were passing through, we saw an Italian restaurant and as we were homesick for Italian food, we went inside. We got a Milanese cutlet. It wasn't bad but not great either. We have declared that we are Italian. We were served by a Spanish speaking waitress, What bothered us most was the total indifference of the owner who, knowing that we were Italians, didn't even deign to come and greet us, even though she welcomed her regular customers with great emphasis. We will never return.

I took my family and a few college students here for dinner last night and we can’t say enough about the food and the service! We will go back !!

This restaurant was recommended by a friend. We were 6 people and everybody love their food. The calamari was really fresh and delicious! Nice wine list. Great atmosphere!

Tiny restaurant with a a bit of outdoor seating that creates exquisite, stunningly prepared meals. The ample menu offers enough outstanding options to satisfy any one.

I'd been looking forward to this restaurant for some time before actually making it. Unfortunately, the experience was overall underwhelming, with the highlight being the wine list. Despite the fact that I put on my reservation it was our anniversary, and we told them again during our meal, the staff did nothing to make it special. Overall, the service was lackluster. I even heard the table next to us seek out another waiter because their original server was apparently missing in action. It was a Tuesday night, so I can't imagine this is their busiest night. The burrata and prosciutto was delicious. Mushroom tagliatelle was one-note. My boyfriend said the lobster ravioli was the best he'd ever had, but all in all, I would not recommend going here. We paid roughly $150 with tip for two people, and it honestly was not worth it.

Terrible customer service. Decent food but the bad service ruined the experience. Sometimes you expect a restaurant to have an off day but this experience was beyond off. Rude and dismissive

Here for lunch on this holiday . I came here after a friend told me about the place. We arrived and found a very busy place and after a short wait we were in. Starting with the bread everything was excellent. The quality of the ingredients of each plate were top quality. The service was efficient and friendly despite a full place. I liked the decoration and the relaxed atmosphere . I really recommend this place.

Stay away, unbelievably rude and money hungry. I was seated, ordered one course and a glass of wine. Then ordered dessert and another glass of wine. Before I finished the waitress told me the manager said they needed my table and I needed to leave. Simply unbelievable. Will not return.

Ordered pasta, branzino and risotto, and chocolate and cream dessert just great. Friendly efficient service.

We were visiting Coconut Grove, Florida (Miami) and notice this restaurant on TripAdvisor. We also got a good recommendation from our hotel concierge. We are glad we ate dinner here! The ambience is excellent. Right in the middle of the Coco walk. A quaint little restaurant with a fun and festive atmosphere. The service was outstanding. We were treated warmly. and were treated with a great deal of attention. The food was strong as well. Cacio de Pepe pasta was outstanding. The lemon cake was to die for. The only disappointment was the fillet and mushroom risotto special. It was decent, but not great. We will be back!

An enjoyable and glorious meal that was more than just enjoyed by all. Veronica (server from Florence) was a true highlight of the meal, Listen to what she says. if she recommends something, order it.

In every trip there is always the pleasant and not so good surprise. In the case it was more than pleasant. We were "lost" in Coconut because we had chosen a restaurant that we didn't like on arrival. So we decided to go to Le Bouchon, which always hits. But it was closed on the day. Then, by fate, we ended up at Sapore de Mare. And it was our luck. As we are Brazilian descendants of Italians (oriundi), we know this cuisine very well. And she is very well made in it. Attentive service, correct wine list, a find.

The food is good home made pasta, the accomodations not ok feel that I was in my garage. 20% service in the bill is too much. The tiramisu far behind of a regular one. Is to be a reasonable restaurant nothing more than this.

From the outside it looks small. While it is small it is big on service and quality of food. We had 4 dishes. The famous pasta in a cheese bowl, seafood risotto, vegetable pasta, and the Filet in the glass cover. We started with octopus and calamari. The wine list was priced from well for the quality of the wine. I found it refreshing to be paying mush reasonable prices. The uncorking fee is $35.00 which allows you to take your favorite. Don't go if you are in a hurry as they do everything right and slow. Service was magnificent, and all the folks really work hard to make you happy. Indoor and outdoor seating. They have private parking in the back which is great for the Grove. The deserts where all very good Make sure you try them

This lively and compact eatery feels like a piece of Italy, with a small battalion of friendly, capable staff, a fabulous wine list and the most marvelous and marvelously presented food. (We sat across from the kitchen - twice - just for the pleasure of watching the dishes that appeared for delivery, each its own work of art. Ask for the spaghetti prepared in a Pecorino round. And unless you REALLY love clam sauces, stay away from the grouper ravioli.

The best Italian restaurant in Miami. Real Italian food and Italian vibes, not to mention the Italian manager; he is very professional and he really knows what he does; the way he takes care of the customers is unique, every restaurant should have such professional employees.

There weren't a lot of options for thanksgiving dinner with our family group of five, so we gave Sapore Di Mare a go. We were very pleasantly surprised. It was obvious that is a real family run restaurant as there were several of their family and friends dinning that evening. The food and wine were excellent and reasonable for the portions. A very pleasant experience!

I visited this place with my boyfriend 1 year ago and we became obsessed with it! (sorry we hadn´t made the review yet). But seriously, this places´ pasta scales to another level of deliciousness. We ordered burrata with prosciutto and truffled Cacio e Pepe which comes served inside a cheese wheel and tastes AMAAAAZING! It´s also important to mention that we ran a bit late and got there at their closing hour but still, the owner was SO nice, got us what we thought was the best, most romatic table in the room and didn´t rush us at all. We enjoyed our time there VERY MUCH! We´ll be back soon! (on time :)) Thank you again!

A lot of people havent heard about this Mediterranean / Italian restaurant and its amazing! Im telling all my friends, the food is not overpriced and its very fresh, the service is really friendly, you are treated as family. This restaurant is underrated and everyone should give it a go.

Enjoyed an excellent lunch there today. It is in the Grove just up from CocoWalk. Small Italian and Seafood restaurant with perhaps 15-20 tables or so. The owner or manager is a character and she took very good care of us. Above average seafood as well as Pasta. I had the grilled calamari that was served sliced with a small arugula and tomato salad. Served sliced "in wheels" and with accompanying red and smoked salt and oiive oil. Bread was fresh and had a great crust to it. My companion had the ragu topped talharini. The quality and the freshness of the food was superb and although small, restaurant (decor is relaxed nautical) was not too loud so we could have a great conversation. I think this would be great at night and will go back with my wife. Street parking (their own lot is too small).

Must be new to the Grove. Small intimate seafood bistro. Seated us in the back patio are and felt like we were in the Amalfi Coast in a small local restaurant. Impressed that all of the waitstaff were genuine Italian. Seafood selection was amazing. Best I have seen in any one restaurant. Great Italian wine selection. You must be OK dining very close to your neighboring diners. Very Italian. They have a lot of tables in a small area. Did not take away from the experience of the evening. We loved this place. Looking forward to going back. Highly recommend. Service was superb.

We ate at this fantastic restaurant in Feb 2020 right before the craziness started and I was absolutely blown away by the food, the great service and the perfect suggested wine pairing. I'm so happy to see that Sapore is still there and I hope to one day visit again. I only wish I could wander over for lunch today.

Not sure there is enough room to write about our fabulous lunch experience at this restaurant. A friend had been previously and highly recommended it, and lunch was our only available time slot - with a reservation, we were seated promptly and several staff members immediately began bringing water, menus, recommending specials, etc. That set the tone for the entire meal. We shared the special seafood salad entrée (brimming with shrimp, calamari, scallops, crisp arugula and cherry tomatoes in a delicious light vinaigrette), the most delicious zucchini blossoms we'd ever tasted, and their most popular dish (according to the server) which is not printed on the menu but prepared when requested - homemade pasta slathered in butter and truffles and served in a parmigiana/reggiano hollowed cheese round, presented and prepared tableside by the server, who twirls the pasta and then scraped the inside circle sides of the cheese rounds to finish before spooning onto individual plates - and it was to die for! A true culinary masterpiece and wonderful dining experience. We were too filled for dessert, but enjoyed lattes and left more than sated. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who truly appreciates great food.

Recently when Toby flew up to New York, she sat next to someone who is a patron chef of a French restaurant we’ve eaten in many times, but when he’s in the mood for great Italian food, he said, he goes to a little seafood/pasta restaurant in Coconut Grove call Sapore di Mare. He told Toby in his opinion it was the best Italian food in Miami. In fact, he told her, he sometimes eats there three times a week. I told Toby I bet he was exaggerating, but let’s try it. So last night we had a delicious pasta and seafood dinner. Service was gracious and very attentive. And tonight when we started talking about dinner - guess where we ate? Sapore di Mare! Again. This time I had an incredibly delicious eggplant and mozzarella dish prepared like I’ve never had any place else followed by a perfectly prepared Bronzino - a fish that’s usually over cooked in most restaurants but not here and Toby had broiled langoustines that had her oooing and aaahing between bites. The prices are reasonable, the service is great, the wine list is very nice, and it’s nice place to sit in and relax with an espresso. We’ll be going back often. Very often. And that’s no exaggeration!

Upon a friend's recommendation decided to try it our for dinner. Glad we followed the recommendation. Despite some other reviews, we found the waiter excellent, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and its preparation. The Manager (?) stopped by the table to see how things were going. All in all a nice dining experience.

Unassuming from the outside, Sapore di Mare is wonderful. Great service including once giving us a ride home in the rain. Great fish dishes and a fun happy group of waiters and management.

Sapore Di Mare has an energetic feel. The restaurant was very busy Sunday at about six pm. Appetizers of squash flowers with prosciutto and crab tartar outstanding. Rigatoni with swordfish and Tagliatelle with seafood very, very good. A bottle of white wine from Friuli chilled just right. Veronica who ran the front that night, was an unbelievable host. If you in the Miami area it's a must.

Sapore di Mare is a cozy restaurant located in Coconut Grove. We have an amazing pasta called Cacio Tartufo, it's a delicious pasta with creamy sauce and sliced Truffle preparade in a Round cheese...really awesome, highly reccomended. As a plus service was great.

Read some reviews, saw that Lee Schrager visited, so I figured “it’s got to be good”. Boy was I wrong! First of all, we were taken to some random patio in the back which is partially open to air and since it was 92 degrees in Miami, we were sweating our asses off—are you kidding me? We took a $250 bottle of wine (Hall Excellenz Cabernet) thinking they would surely know how to decant it. The Cuban waiter (no offense but he was pretending to be Italian) opened the bottle and had another inexperienced girl who spoke no English pour it into a decanter and she proceeded to ask “you want me to throw the bottle away”? Uh...no...you’re supposed to place the bottle on the table! Yikes! We ordered the lobster bisque—watery with NO lobster in it; the zucchini flowers—not Italian at all—they were Chili’s mozzarella sticks with pieces of zucchini in it in a heavily fried batter definitely not worth $22! The fish fillet we ordered was good but the whole idea of the cacio e pepe we ordered was the presentation in the cheese wheel. The same lady who wanted to throw out the bottle of wine just dumped the pasta plate on our table and we never saw the cheese wheel! And every time they would come to pour the wine they would reach across in front of us and fumble about. Holy crap! Thank God we at least enjoyed our own wine! I’m all for opportunity and all but this place just proves once again that 90% of S. Florida really should be called Hialeah! No one speaks English and no one knows proper restaurant service! I like trying new places but forget it—when I want Italian, I’m going back again and again and again to Fiola in Coral Gables—that is TOP NOTCH!! This place was a step above Macaroni Grill! Maybe Schrager gets better service or is paid to go there!

It doesn't get more authentic than Sapore! The staff, the food, the music all transport you to Italy! Highly recommend this little jewel of a restaurant!

Don’t dine here if you’re on a diet! Food is drenched in calories but oh-so-worth it. This is a busy place on a Saturday night. Make reservations! It’s cozy. There’s a front room which has a nice romantic atmosphere and a back room which is also charming. We had a vegetarian pasta, burrrata and prosciutto, as well as fruti di mare. You may need extra bread for dipping. Service was stellar. Somehow our doggie bag was accidentally tossed and they chef cooked another dish for my friend as replacement without us even asking. The wait staff was at our table without fail when we needed anything at all. Can’t wait to go back.

This restaurant is fantastic. We had a delicious lunch and so glad we went here. We had muscles to start which were cooked to perfection and for mains had seafood linguini and king prawn spaghetti which were excellent. Wine selection was excellent. Coffee was lovely as well. From start to finish the service was excellent. Excellent value for money and highly recommend coming here. Brilliant!

Every time we go back I wonder why I’ve stayed away so long. We love this little restaurant, the food is amazing both the menu and the specials, the wait staff are lovely and Veronica, well she’s the show, amazing, welcoming and fun.

We had a reservation for party of 5. When out two friends arrived before us they were told half the party must be there to be seated. After some discussion around the illogical math, they were seated in a back area 2 fee from adoor to a parking lot. We could have managed with the cramped and suboptimal seating but then were rushed through appetizers and meal. I had a pasta which had no taste. So food was mediocre, as was service and ambiance. Won’t be going back

We had an amazing dinner at "Sapore di Mare" on Monday night. Our waiter very polite and funny, his name Angelo explain us about the main dishes. The soup of the day, Main dish and dessert were executed to the perfection. The Atmosphere is very cozy.

I hate writing reviews like this, especially for places I once really enjoyed, but what I experienced this past weekend at Sapore Di Mare was truly unacceptable. I came as a walk in reservation with my boyfriend for dinner. One of the specials of the night was a red fish puttanesca dish. Puttanesca is pretty much ALWAYS served with pasta, so I figured that is what the side dish was. Nobody told me anything different, so I never asked. When our food arrived, my red fish was served on a plate of puttanesca sauce and a tiny portion of potatoes and vegetables on the side. The vegetables and potatoes did not have the same sauce or flavor that the fish did and really it seemed like a total mismatch. I called over the blonde Italian woman who works there (owner possibly?) to discuss the confusion over the side dish. She immediately told my waiter who brought out a SIDE order of pasta. The pasta with the fish were decent. There were several bones in my fish which if prepared correctly should not have occurred. They did not apologize for the confusion over the dish despite the fact that it is a known fact that puttanesca typically comes with pasta, but beyond that, they charged us $16 for a SIDE DISH OF PASTA. I have lived in Miami for several years, and eat out frequently. I have no issue spending money on food, but to make a mistake like this, pretend to care about patrons, and then charge an arm and a leg for a side of pasta is just unforgivable. This is actually the second time I have had an issue at this restaurant. The last time we were there my mother's food was unbearably spicy and when she went to return it the waiter laughed at her while she turned red and had tears in her eyes from the amount of red pepper in her food. Ultimately, it is just not worth the fake Italian vibes. True Italian service is family oriented and would never make mistakes and not stand by the customers afterwards. If you want fantastic seafood travel to South Miami and try out Cafe Pastis. If you want great Italian food look no further than Narbona in Cocowalk, it is right up the road and the staff is always kind and receptive to their customers. I am sorry to do this, but it has to be said. I can only hope the owners/ managers read this and make some changes, but either way I likely will never be back.

Good service, Good price, must have reservation at night because it is small. Very good place, good food, hidden gem. The price is average priced. Burrata is excellent.

Thisba great place for a good time because you will enjoy the best italina food with the family caring service. The appetizers are wonderfull especialky the burratas and then any pasta you order its perfection! Desserts are creative and delicious as well! Great people will take care of all your food desires!

Very nice food, very nice Italian atmosphere. The best Italian restaurant around. A bit expensive may be, however the wines are very affordable. I strongly recommand !

The best restaurant in Miami and definitely one of the best in the US. Finding a place with real Italian food (not places with Alfredo pasta, pasta with meatballs or other American versions of original Italian recipes) is very difficult. In particular, the manager is one of the most professional people you can find in this field, in the US, in Italy and outside. His knowledge of food and wine is unbelievable, he takes care of all customers in a unique way.

Great place for dinner with friends; friendly environment, service is excellent, portions are adequate

Fun, lively, and delicious Italian restaurant. We were just introduced to the chef who is ironically from San Sebastián, Spain. We had the Bronzino, a cheesy pasta dish served in hollowed cheese shell, lobster pasta dish, and and Iberian ham, Parmesan cheese, dark olives and honey appetizer. All were exquisitely presented and tasted amazing. We finished our meal sharing a classic tiramisu dessert drenched in lemon cello and fresh fruit.

If heaven on earth is food than fresh pasta paired with fresh fish is here at Sapore di Mare in Miami’s Coconut Grove area. An intimate local trattoria in Italy is transported to Miami with the same intimacy of size, great local service and fresh food. Italian local restaurants are a hard act to follow in America and this one does it and more. I still have that unique undeniably amazing g flavors of fresh eggs, flour oil that Italian families normally but here in the US not really. THis place is a great exception!!

Went to Coconut Grove to shop and eat. Found a great Italian/ seafood restaurant that was somewhat hidden. Loved the food, service was excellent and we would definitely go back.

Arrived on a busy Friday night with no reservation. The hostess was very gracious and did what she could to arrange a table for us. The place is taken care of directly by a group of people from Italy so you know the fare is genuine. We had the calamari, the scallops and the pasta with sea urchin. All were very very good. Service was fast and attentive

Gret place for italian food. Should start wirth Calamari or Prosciutto and Burrata as appetizer. Main course must be the Tagliarini inside a grana padano cheese. Yes, inside. If you want to improve ask for truffles with it. Amazing taste. Sure you will love it

Very attentive and knowledgeable waiter. Good recommendations. Excellent appetizers. Excellent wine list.Main courses were very good specially the pastas. The restaurant is small ( few tables ) ,decoration is OK.All this and not expensive. Free parking next door. Highly recommended.

Sapore di Mare is one of our all time favorite restaurants. Located in Coconut Grove, it has marvelous food, excellent wines and amazingly cheerful, attentive and often very amusing wait staff. lunch or dinner any day of the week. Incredibly delicious pastas and the best grilled octopus in town.

This was my third visit to Sapore di Mare. Kept trying to give them a chance since the first time I ate there was the only time I thought that it was worth coming back. But my last visit made me decide not coming back again. Food was mediocre, bland and overpriced. I have to say that the pasta served out of a cheese wheel was out of this world, again.....expensive though. I have asked myself if maybe they have changed chefs?. The restaurant atmosphere is nice and clean. Service was ok. They wiped the table like four times to the point it became uncomfortable.

This place is outstanding! The staff is super cool and friendly. The food was amazing. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. Great restaurant!

Nice little Italian restaurant in the heart of Coconut Grove. It was a great discovery. Greatly recommended.

My husband and I went to this restaurant for the first time Saturday, we found a table outside ourselfs since they were busy, that should have been our first clue to leave but we stayed, we waited 15 min for someone to come to our table, when someone came they said that they would bring water and breat and they would take our order, it took 10 min to get water, the bread never came, 5 min later we asked if we could place our order they said the waiter would be coming, 5 min later he came and we place our order, 11 min passed and nothing came, we were ready to leave and go somewhere else when we were told that the food was coming, we believed him, 7 min later our food came and we asked for bread, the bread was cold, the scallops were raw and my husbands meal didn't come yet. The scallops dinner come with nothing not a piece of tomato, not a piece of brocoli or any vegetable nothing, four raw scallops, that was it. this was the end of my patience, I had enough, we were hungry, we could not talk to anyone because they were so BUSY, we told the waiter about the scallops, he apologized and said that my husband food was coming, he was nice but was so busy so we didn't see him often, they could care less about the clients, so we got up and told a lady that was standing by the door, that we were very upset about the lack of service, the bad food and that we were leaving, she said she was the manager and we were shocked even more when she didn't even apologized, we thanked the waiter and left him a big tip and left. I will never go back there again, too many more Italian restaurants to go to.

The food is average to good at best but they present it well, the average rating is due to paying high prices for an average meal and with 20% service charge they are taking liberties!

Went for a special occasion but I would not bother to return to this place. I would be ashamed to take my Italian sister-in-law here. My raw seafood starter was 1 cooked (!) shrimp and 1 raw langoustine cut in half for $25. The pasta was ok, asparagus and porcini sauce was bland. Lobster ravioli had no lobster taste. Prosciutto and mozzarella starter was nice but nothing special. House Italian red wine was the highlight. Didn’t bother with dessert. $150 for dinner for 2. Slightly above average Miami prices I guess.

My wife and I have eaten at Sapore di Mare about 20 times and tonight unfortunately we had a very bad experience. We ordered pasta bolognese for our children and spaghetti Sapore di Mare and the fish of the day. All dishes tasted badly compared to those of the past - the fish especially so - quite dry with a fishy taste that kept us from eating any of it so we wouldn’t get sick. The signature spaghetti dish also lacked the good taste of the past - as I’ve eaten it at least 10 times over the years and always found it delicious. The fish soup was also not good and the bolognese was without a decent taste, plus they charged 50% more for the children’s dishes than we had paid many times in the past. Also even though we described the issues to the chef, we were charged full fare for everything and not even comped a dollar. It seems the place may have a new owner given the poor quality food and that the usual Italian maitre’d that really made the place hum was not there. If he had been, I do not think the experience would have been so disappointing- especially when spending over $200 just for food. We are unlikely to visit again - caveat emptor.

I have been to this restaurant twice. Each pasta dish was cooked improperly, Seafood quality and freshness pretty low.

Fascinating small restaurant tucked in a corner of a beautiful area. The staff is professional, polished, and proud of their establishment. Makes you feel like you just discovered a hidden gem (because you just did!). Great menu and wine list with a concentration on Italian wines. We both had seafood pasta dishes which were both excellent and homemade. Appetizers and espresso afterwards were expectedly European and excellent. Great flavors and service. Almost hate to let this out as I’m afraid I won’t be able to get a table there next time (but they deserve the success).

Italian Flavors, Quality Products and Friendly Service. Our dinner focused essentially on the appetizers all well presented served respecting the sequence of flavors from the most delicate to the tastiest. Great desserts. Prices not among the lowest, but proportionate to the quality of Service and product.

Right away we noticed the service here was wonderful. We didn't have a reservation and were immediately seated and greeted warmly and enthusiastically by every server we passed. Made us feel very much at home. Unfortunately we also immediately had sticker shock, because even standard dishes, appetizers, soups, you name it, were extremely expensive. Sure, the specials sounded amazing but for a relatively informal setting, it just felt crazy to pay $45+ for every entree. That being said, everything we ordered tasted good, although nothing was particularly mindblowing or delicious (just good, overall). Loved the seafood soup and homemade gelato. Everyone around us seemed to be ordering the Cacio e Pepe that comes with truffles in a big wheel of cheese but is not on the menu. We almost regretted not ordering it but were specifically hoping for seafood, having eaten a lot of pasta in Miami in general. Overall, a good experience, but definitely come in with realistic expectations.

Let me start out by saying my mother lived in Italy for many years, so to find Italian food outside of Italy that she is impressed with is difficult to say the least. We came here as a family for dinner on a weekday night and every single thing was incredible. The first thing we noticed is that the entire staff is Italian- this made us feel like we were in Italy. The wine was delicious, the bread was hard to resist, and the dishes were amazing. I had the ossobucco ravioli and it left me speechless. My mother had the tartufo pasta and she loved it. We had such a great time and returned the following week with more family! The manager warmly remembered us and sat us right away. This has become our new go-to restaurant! Absolutely love it!

This is Italian home cooking done right, the chef and the host Veronica are great, this will be one of my new favorite places!

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. I can honesty say it was the worst food ever. The person in charge or owner whoever she was told us the chef was from Roma. I believe she meant Rome Georgia. The wasn't a hint of garlic in anything. No odor of spices when you walk in the door. The seat was very uncomfortable. I would rate this restaurant minus 10. For 3 people the check was 150.00. Save your money and go to Carrabba's. At lest you know your food will taste like Italian food. Olive Garden would be a 5 star compared to this place.

Our friends booked this restaurant sight unseen. Being Italian I am Leary to try most Italian Restaurants. But when we got there we knew immediately we were in the right place. The food was OUTSTANDING. WELL COOKED, fresh and AUTHENTIC.... I will go back whenever in the Miami area. Also being from NJ/NY I would put Sapore Di Mare up against any authentic Restaurants in our area. THANK YOU,

Wonderful Italian food and service in this small neighborhood gem. The prawns and the risotto were both delicious.

Every detail is done with such care, every bite extraordinary. When I finish, I feel I have spent more than I intended, seduced by the previous course. $12 for a bowl of soup?! but it was memorable.

With a chef from Rome who has worldwide experience in top restaurants, this unassuming little restaurant in Coconut Grove offers terrific, authentic Italian seafood. The atmosphere is lively and you may sit out front and find the sidewalk thronged with passerby, but it is worth it. We've been there twice, two years apart. Yes, we returned. The octopus is especially delicious, as are the olive oil on the table and the house-baked bread. Service is lively and friendly. Reservation recommended.

We ate in the typical restaurant beautifully served by the owner Veronica who recommended delights and seafood delicacies in Italian style and elegance. Delicate flavors and high quality are the trademark of the house. We will repeat the experience again

The restaurant is crowded avery day, so a reservation is a must, not to be in line 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hour. Everything is very very very fresh, home made pasta. Delicious ! Service is also good.

The food is very good but it is also overpriced, considering the place is very small and unimpressive. The service is okay.

If someone’s comments are related to tips, or children’s portions, or the price in general, then all of you need to eat at Olive Garden…and don’t forget to order Fettucine Alfredo and chicken fingers, ok? But if you want authentic Italian food accompanied with the finest wine selection in the city, coupled with spectacular service, then this is your restaurant. From Cacio e Pepe Pasta to some of the finest fish, Sapore di Mare has not disappointed in all the years that we’ve been enjoying dinner and lunch at this place. The food is fresh, meticulously prepared, and extraordinarily served by a team of waiters who are clearly trained in the old Italian Style. Naturally, if you have never been to Italy, or if you see Italy the same way that tourists see Lincoln Road, this place is the perfect education for your palate. Make a reservation, enjoy dinner and you will be converted into a connoisseur by the time you order coffee. Miss all other “Italian” restaurants, but do not miss this one.

Too cute! Great service, loved the whole vibe of the restaurant and the food was good too! Will definitely go back😋

We just had dinner there and the food was really nice. It’s a bit pricey, but ok. There was a little mistake in the bill at the end (they charged 6 beers when we only had 4), but they corrected it. The owner is very friendly. The place is a bit cramped but the decoration is cute. Worth a visit if you’re in the Coconut Grove area.

The high noise level making any conversation difficult across a small two-top, people standing inside the small restaurant waiting for a table and the folk lined up outside on a Wednesday evening all add to a crazy dining experience. With a crowded main room (with tables separated by maybe 20") and a back room, constructed out of what looks like a reclaimed back patio, the restaurant offers a quirky, minimalist, bent wood chair but linen tablecloths, ambiance. What makes for an exceptional evening is the care of the wait staff. The food is good but not the ultimate in delicate Italian cuisine, more like what mamma makes - except mamma and her family were all dining there. They all form what appears to be a large regular clientele well known to the staff. The crusty, restaurant-baked bread is out of this world and the quality of the Olive oil is exceptional; all marks of a caring restauranteur. Pricing is on the high side, but wine pricing is reasonable. Food is essentially well prepared and presented classic Italian standards with, mostly, in-house made pasta, which is perfectly presented al dente. All in, a fun evening for a group or family but not a romantic dining experience.

Food is excellent, home made pasta, best seafood and great wine list. Service is amazing. Make sure you have reservations though they would really try to accomodate you.

My husband loves Truffle pasta. Theirs is great! Gotta go and try it. You won’t be sorry. We are for sure going back !!!

I can’t find anything positive to say if our visit to this restaurant other than it was cozy. Each pasta dish was cooked improperly as well as the ingredients were I’ll proportioned. The bread was more like a breakfast cake. The zucchini blossoms were not detectable since they were covered in a heavy, greasy batter and served with tartar sauce… tartar sauce ?

Sapore is an excellent spot to enjoy a leisure lunch at Coconut Grove. The food is quite good and the wine list is top. Service is outstanding and there is no question that goes unanswered. It is a charming and relaxing ambiance that is worth your visit to South Miami...

We traveled the US for a couple of weeks this December and January. This place was simply amazing! I had the salmon and my gilfriend had the king prawns (plus cheese platter). The service was excellent - and the food was just simply amazing!!! Great wine pairing too! We loved our server - who was super nice (and just the perfect amount of talkative - even giving us tips for when to evade traffic for our trip to the Keys the next day). This was the best meal we had on the trip - and we've eaten a lot of sea food (we're from Norway :D)! Everybody should pay this place a visit!

Made reservations a couple of weeks before we arrived in Coconut Grove for Valentine's dinner. Sapore di Mare had so many good reviews online, but we didn't have such a great time and if we lived nearby, we would not go back. There were plenty of tables in the front room, but they took us to the back deck area, via the narrowest of areas outside the window where waitstaff picks up the food. It was awkward and just strange to pass up all of the empty tables. What we entered was simply over-the-top cheesy in decor and Valentine's made it look even cheaper - balloons and rose petals all over tables that barely had elbow room or space to pull your chair back. Tables were sooooo tightly spaced. Thankfully there were only three couples back there. We could every rude thing the man behind us was saying about his ex-wife. We could not read the shadowed specials' board because the lighting was so poorly directed, had to ask the waiter several times about what was on it. By the way, they don't serve mixed drinks, just beer and wine. We ordered two different wines, but he brought us both the same one which we realized when we got our bill. Ravioli was not cooked to al dente, it was too stiff and not consistent from piece to piece. Two shrimp with the gnocchi with just so-so saffron sauce that slid off the pieces and puddled. Waiter went behind the deck to smoke a cigarette drifting smoke to our table, ugh! Best dish was the app - burratta accompanied by a bowl of anchovies, a small mound of roasted peppers and a swatch of cherry tomatoes, which is a wonderful combo, but the presentation was lacking. Also be aware that they will charge you $6 for water without telling you. As soon as we sat down, they asked if we wanted sparkling water. We said no, so they brought a bottle of natural water without asking if we would like tap, which would have been fine.Maybe they filled up later, but we left around 8 and there was still plenty of room, and again, it would have been nice to be seated in the front dining area with windows and not a wall of white lattice.

We love this place! We make it a point to go almost every Friday (and even Saturday if possible). Excellent meat and cheese boards! Great wine selection at moderate prices. And the service is fantastic! All of the staff are very friendly. Roberta is an excellent hostess! We always feel like we are eating at home when we are there!

Loved the truffle pasta inside the cheese, very friendly staff, and exquisite decoration. Would recommend reservation because the place is small.

If the food they serve every time is as bad aswhat we had, then this restaurant is proof that Miamians do not know good food. We had the baby octopus for starters and these came straight out of a can, no taste , no texture, not a single caper , onion nor even sauce. The people preparing the food are at best short order cooks. The pasta Sapore di Mare , their signature dish , was tasteless and just bad: the shell fish was old I did not dare eat it. The fish they serve was tasteless and overcooked. The service is terrible. Their wine list lackluster, we ordered a cup of their house wine and it was terrible. The place is crowded and dinghy, less than clean. We have resided in this part of Miami over 30 years, and had never been in this restaurant before, We went today because someone gave us a gift certificate. This is not a trattoria nor a fine restaurant nor a place where you would enjoy spending time with your friends or family. I am taken back by the positive reviews in Trip Advisor.

What a good food! Thanks Yeilys welcome back , great job !!! Is always nice to see you when i visit Sapore , alone or friends is always a pleasure taste a very good italian food !

Shady I really don't like it when a good restaurant does shady stuff with tipping. Adding 15% then adding a tip calculation at the bottom as though they didn't already add it makes me feel like they are trying to cheat me. The meal was also pretty expensive. $60+ for octopus, tomatoes and a glass of Cabernet with no name seems high, right? On the positive side the octopus was great See pics.

We walked into this place without reservations at 5:15 pm on a week night. The front room was almost empty, but we were shuttled to the back room -- which was crowded, likely with other tourists like us. The waiter suggested a red wine, and we placed our order (I ordered a special from the board -- a fig and (some kind of) cheese ravioli), which was excellent. Here's the thing. As we drank our wine and waited on our food, we saw the waiter come back with a dish that looked wonderful. There was a big circular block of a hard cheese, maybe asiago? and they swirled the hot pasta in that cheese block and made a big production out of lifting the pasta high in the air and putting it in each person's bowl. It smelled wonderful -- we asked, "What is that dish?" and the waiter said, "Oh it's not on the menu." Later we were told the same thing about another dish -- it's not on the menu. "How can we order it if it's not on the menu?" I asked. He just grinned. Our dinner was excellent (hence 5 stars!). As we left, I waited in the back of the front room (now much fuller) and saw plates that I never saw on the menu (one with scallops -- and I had searched the menu for scallops dishes; I'm positive I saw none). It was clear that the front room was full of local Italians and many were eating dishes not on our menu. So I'm just saying ------if you eat there, ask about the dishes that AREN'T ON THE MENU. I've included a photo of the first one I described. AND make a reservation for the FRONT room -- it's much cooler (ac was not good in the back room) and a much more elegant, intimate space.

My family invited a large group of members of 17 wich is difficult to service. Everything was perfect excellent entrees, service was perfect. Food was on time for al the group. Definitively recommended.

There are not many Italian restaurants focused in sea food. This one is great. It's noisy and simple as Italians are. I had made a mistake in the date of my reservation but being fully booked they managed to accommodate our party of 6. I tested Italian seafood restaurants ordering Spaghetti Vongole and they were superb. Probably one of the best 3 I have had. The soup of beans (Italian white beans) with shrimp was very good but also huge in size. I will come back

Was brought to Sapore do Mare by a friend. I had no expectations. The place is simply great. The restaurant has kept a small trattoria feeling, has good outdoor seating in the back and front of the building, and serves what I consider the best Italian food in Miami, or just about. The seabass is fantastic, so were the scallops and the appetizers. Fantastic burrrata with tomatoes. Mascarpone for dessert concluded a great dinner served in a friendly and professional manner. I cannot wait to go back.

The food they serve is as bad as the wine and the service !! We decided to give it a second chance to this place because some friends of ours wanted to try it. What a disappointment. It is as bad as the first time we were there. A mediocre at best restaurant!!!

Happened to luck on to this jewel while dropping off a package at UPS. They gave it rave reviews so I tried it out. Staff is extremely friendly with the old time Italian flare. Food and wine were delicious and staff gave good advise. I had the red snapper raviolis in a saffron sauce- yum!

The food is amazing (my favorite is the pasta in the cheese bowl with truffles) the team totally welcoming while providing great service, the place is always packed so be sure to make a reservation and you'll be delighted with your experience.

Sapore di mare is located in the heart of Coconut Grove in Miami yet you feel like you're eating cliff side off the coast of Italy. This restaurant has such a coastal feel with its beachy decor and the waiters even sporting an apron with the words first mate on it. Appetizers: polipetti alla luciana which was a baby octopus cooked in tomato black olives & capers. This sauce was so rich and great for dipping your bread in. 👌🏼Also we shared a burrata & prociutto di parma that came on top of a crispy cracker type deliciousness. For dinner: I had the pappardelle pasta with lamb ragu which was so savory I couldn't put it down. Cacio tartufo was the other dish. OMG, the preparation for this dish is probably just as exciting as that first bite! It's a linguini in the cacio e pepe style with some delicious truffles sprinkled on top. They bring it to the table inside of the pecorino romano cheese. The waiter then proceeds to swirl it inside the cheese and then transfers it to your plate. 😱 We also ordered a side of shrimp These shrimps were probably the most delicious ones I've ever had. They were grilled to perfection and it left this light charred taste to them that was amazing, not to mention that the shrimps were huge! We shared an deconstructed tiramisu styled dessert. It had crumbles of biscotti with some chantilly cream, Sambuca, and nutella drizzled on top of it! Nutella on anything should be outlawed!! 🙈 So so Good! Finally, some limoncello served inside chilled shot glasses as our digestivo (on the house) I highly recommend asking for Agustin as your waiter when you visit. He was so thorough and truly made our experience more memorable. He even brought the chef over to our table to meet us as this was our first experience at his restaurant. Now for the wine.. It was a Super tuscan il Sasso Carmignano 2013 vintage--I had never had a super Tuscan and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. These wines are based on a bordeaux blend which was interesting. This wine had some #merlot Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc, & Sangiovese This was a very bold, full body wine that had strong dark fruits on the nose. It had high tannins but they were so well integrated it didn't have that punch that some other bold Italian wines have. We decanted the wine for a bit. This wine paired well with my hearty pappardelle with lamb Ragu. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This restaurant has been consistently good since it opened. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is great, they have a wonderful menu and awesome and interesting seasonal specials, it's a bit pricey however you'd better make reservations because it's always packed even with adding sidewalk and a back seating area.

Can't wait to return. The food and service were superb. The wine by the glass was very well priced. The zucchini flower appetizer with prosciutto also had a small side of anchovies from Spain which my husband loved. We had a reservation at 6:30 on a Sat night and as we were were leaving the small restaurant was filling up quickly. Be sure to make a reservation.

Heard such good things about this restaurant. We sat out back which was fine. I had Ravioli stuffed with veal. The ravioli was hard and it was served lukewarm in a salty brown sauce that was very ordinary. A friend had hogfish also tasteless. Would not go back.

My wife and I have eaten in this restaurant before and always had an excellent meal. Tonight they were slammed with a line at the door and only 1 table next to the kitchen for us. However, the owner (the restaurant is run by a husband in the Kitchen and wife in the Dining Room) pitched in herself and provided us with the best service despite how busy the place was. All the pasta is homemade there as is the bread plus mostly everything else. The food is what we would have if we were in Italy or even better. I hate to add to the crowd who waits to get into the place but have to commplement them in the best forum I can.

The food is absoluetly exquiste BUT it takes a back seat to the amazing heart warming service you get from the waiters/chef/owners they make you feel like you are a guest at their Italian home and serve you the freshest most delicious branzino carapaccio and my favorite dish, the truffle pasta that comes inside of a parmesan bowl.

Small, quaint Italian restaurant in the Grove. Pasta is homemade and good. Zucchini flowers were good - not the best, but good. Arugula, mushroom and artichoke salad (with chicken) was good. Orichiette with shrimp was ok. Service was good.

Great Italian Meal! I really enjoyed my lunch here. I had the cheese wheel pasta and it was quite tasty. The service was a bit slow, but we were having a good time, so it wasn’t a big deal.

Do not miss the cache y pepe! And the bread, did we mention the bread....lovely and quaint open kitchen and truly authentic Italian...ask Veronica to suggest a wine! She knows not only the wines, but most of the families and the wineries!

Everything about this cozy bustling place announces: this is real Italian food. The hostess/waitress/wine stewardess, as was all the staff we could discern, was from Italy. The chef was from Rome. We started by getting a great deal on a beautiful Nobile di Montalcino (they were restocking their wines the next day and needed to make room, thus a hefty discount was offered). We started with a 'Cece e pasta', a simple parmigiana cheese and oil based pasta. What made it so outstanding was that the pasta was tossed in a small wheel of parmigiana which added intensity to the flavor. I can still taste this dish although my visit was more than two weeks ago. (I only regret that I was not aware, when I ordered the dish, that you could add sliced truffle for a premium -next time). My wife ordered a grilled octopus over sweet pea puree. She loved it. The menu was rather small and I couldn't decide, but I noticed that on the chalkboard they listed several different fish, including swordfish which I thought might be flavorful and oily enough to stand up to the red wine. The waitress asked if I would like to have it served 'puttanesca' (tomato sauce with strong flavors of capers and olives). The generous swordfish steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce really made the dish. The wine complemented it perfectly. Service was very prompt. Where we sat we could see the kitchen plating the dishes and putting them on the serving counter. The only minor disappointment was dessert. It was a custard with a large dollop of what I believe was Nutella. It was all right, but not outstanding, like the other dishes. The espresso was absolutely perfectly brewed. The prices are reasonable. It's in Coconut Grove, so public parking may be hard to come by so you might need to park in a lot or in the nearby Cocowalk parking garage. Needless to say, we will return in the near future. This place is a gem.

As lovers of everything Italian, discovering this little ristorante in the middle of the city was for us a great pleasure that did transport us back to Italy in an instant. Long gone was the hard work week and roaming again on the Amalfi coast, surrounded by exquisite aromas was all that occupied our minds. Fortunately we had a reservation for dinner and wasted no time at the door. The "cantante" lady did sit us promptly and our extremely beautiful experience began with a delicious Moscato from Alto Adige and a even better 2014 Barbaresco. As a house "cuoco" I am very picky regarding service and food quality and these people are very, very good in both areas. We ordered and shared five different plates and all were very well prepared and served with the excellent Italian style that only them can do. From polpetti, frutti di mare, lobster ravioli, cacio e pepe, everything was delicious. Our Italian waiter was no less brilliant, always there for us, anything we came up with, we got it, attention was top. Time flew before we realized and it was time for ordering dessert. Time seemed to stop and a sea warm breeze again flooded our minds..the lemon cake we ordered did catapult us back to Vietri Sul Mare, on the coast little town, south of Italy. All we can say is wow! From an excellent: service, menu, ambiance and no less spectacular wine list, I give thanks for finding them. My only regret is not knowing they existed, that we could had come much earlier, but now we know. We're definitely coming back soon.

Went for the first time with a group of 8 late on a Saturday night. It was quite busy, but didn't take long to get a table out back. The service was OK, but not stellar (perhaps because they were so busy). Most of our friends were happy with their dinners, although I ordered a fish dish that was uninspired and relatively tasteless (although presented well). My general observation, however, was that their offerings were priced higher than expected, and higher than was justified. Not planning on going back, mostly because there are so many less expensive restaurants I frequent with as good or better food. I wouldn't go so far as to say avoid this place, as it wasn't even close to being a disaster, just a disappointment based on higher expectations.

This is a good italian restaurant but quite expensive. The service is awful but that's part of the charm. The portions are almost random. If one judges by its price, it's quite average but as far as italian restaurants go in US this one is quite good.

As a Grovite, I have always wanted to eat here based on the word of mouth. I finally went this past Saturday. Restaurant was bustling and alive and the service was very friendly and attentive. As of the food... I found it was well portioned but over-priced. We had the grilled Orato, for $50 which was tasteless and fishy. The salad was good but not exceptional for the price. If 2 people share an entree and a salad and each have a glass of wine, then I think $175 seems extreme.

One of the most authentic italian restaurants I have visited. Everything fresh and creatively crafted. Reservations are highly recommended since the restaurant is small.

Lively, neighborhood bistro style restaurant with a funky Grove ambience, complemented with well-prepared fish and pasta dishes such as branzino and papardelle ragu. Prices are above average but worth it. Easy to miss as it's on the edge of the Grove central business district but well worth a detour. Convenient parking in municipal lot across the street.

Really good, authentic italian, I mean, as good as it gets. The owners are italian, which I guess helps! The food was delicious as well as the service. Only complain, a bit expensive. Don't get me wrong, it is worth it, but being a local, this is not a place I can afford to visit on a regular basis, specially with so many more affordable options here in the Grove. However, highly recommended.

Don't let the location fool you, this place is the real deal. Excellent and wicked fresh seafood, oysters, clams, scallops- everytihng top notch. Friendly family style service no pretensions allowed.

Went there for the 3rd time on February 9th, cause the food is amazing but the service this last time was horrible. I already knew what I wanted to eat, cacio&pepe with trufles, but the server Sophi was rude and told us that we needed to order more food cause it wasnt enough. In the end, we couldnt eat the whole food, we left half in the plate. We did not tip, cause she was rude the whole time. When leaving, she pushed me while walking out of the restaurant and told me that the tip was not included in the bill. I told her that we did not like the service and she told me that it was mandatory out of respect. I ended up feeling forced to tip her. I didnt have any cash left so I paid with my credit card $40 tip cause it was the cheapest option ( 18%). I love the food but sadly will not be returning again because of the service which was not good at all.

Small, intimate restaurant in Coconut Grove. We had dined at this place a while back when it was just opened. I’m glad to report that on this our third visit the food, the service and the ambiance are impeccable. We were there for Sunday lunch and enjoyed the calamari fritti and seafood croquettes, both delicious. We also enjoyed a delicately prepared seafood soup containing lots of fresh fish, clams, mussels, langostinos and other delicacies. I recommend this restaurant without hesitation. Must make reservations as the place fills up. And do try the tiramisu for dessert.

This lovely restaurant serves delicious Italian food, mostly seafood, nice menu and wine list, friendly service!

When Italians do what they do better, no one has anything to say, and this restaurant shows off the Italian Cuisine.

We went to this place because we read pasta was so good and I wanted seafood also I liked! Fried calamari was good but please don't expect fried calamari rings, this is calamari grilled Bread was so good, and I have to tell you I don't love bread so you can imagine!! But the best was the pasta, it came served in a cheese and it was delicious!!! One of the best pasta I tried!!! If you love pasta you are going to live this place !

Recommended by friends who live in Miami in four we go to this restaurant, mediocre appetizers, then ordered 3 spaghetti seafood, the pasta abundant and al dente 2 out of 3 dishes with broken pasta and flavorless, sent back a dish and the one served again was discreet Not as we were described The bill from starry 234$+54 mandatory tip, not to be repeated

Visited with family. Service was good. Liked their wine list. Very comfortable atmosphere. Food was ok. Calamari fritti was the only plate we thought was amazing. The pasta, burrata and Branssini were just ok.

Simple place but the real taste of Italy in the food and in the style of reception. Few steps from cocowalk in coconut grove. I strongly recommend to try..

I'm Italian and I'd say this is a superbe restaurant, better than many in my own country. It seems to be in the amalfitan cost. All the best, food, wine, service and a friendly and professional owner. Highly recommended.

Great food, great wine list, great service by Angelini and great atmosphere. Good value for money. Recommended

Had heard about this restaurant for long time. It’s a small cramped restaurant but the food is very very good. Pastas well made,al dente...great menu with fresh ingredients. Service prompt and friendly. Good wine selection. Will be back. Needs a reservation...

My daughter choose this restaurant from a picture of a Cacio e Pepe on Instagram Pleasantly surprised. A bit noisy dining up front, but I found the people and the decor charming. The place is a bit small but cozy. We started with the zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese and the burrata with prosciutto. Both plentiful and tasty. Of course we had to have Cacio E Pepe and did not disappoint. Wonderful rich cheese flavor old world style. Would recommend

After a few nights of walking around Coconut Grove looking for places to eat, we stumbled upon Sapore Di Mare, the most unassuming but delicious Italian restaurant in the area. Once inside, we were pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of the restaurant, its staff, and the informal dining room right out of Italy. We entered with the expectation of having a glass of wine and appetizer, but after reviewing the menu, we stayed for dinner and reasonably priced Montepulciano. The menu is extensive, but we narrowed our choices to the delicious Funghi & Carciofi (mushroom, artichokes, arugula & shaved parmesan cheese) and the Rigatoni alla Puttanesca. We will be back!

First, do NOT park next door, you may get towed. The large public parking lot across the street is a much better choice. Next, absolutely try Sapore di Mare if you haven't been there. Genuinely Italian, stunningly good (everything we've ever tried was delightful), great service, warm and friendly ambience. Small place, but lovingly decorated and well laid out. Tables both inside and outside. Extraordinarily charming. Just go already. There's a pasta dish (I forget the name, but it's what I always have) where they put your pasta inside a large cheese and they melt the cheese onto your pasta. Simply cannot explain how good it is... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

There are "Italian Restaurants" in America that serve Lasagne and Pizza, but Sapore Di Mare is not one of these. Its about the closest to a typical restaurant in Italy as I've seen in this country. Its not flashy - just a little place, but it was crowded and nicely noisy. The menu has the typical Italian 4 courses although unlike in Italy, they are not strict about this. The wine was good, the food was good and the company was fine. I could get used to eating at such a place.

Service was great! The chef if quite a character and great host. However, I was disappointed with the food. Vongole to salty and less than average. The fish of the day no big deal also "salty". The place was also very hot. I did not like it. I am not planing to go back nor recommend it.

From the moment that you are greeted by the lovely manager, to the impeccable and friendly service, and to the petite chef, Ilaria, who creates delicious food, you feel like you are in Italy. Most guests were Italian, as was the entire staff. The warmth of the crew is amazing. Run, don't walk, to this jewel!!! We give them 5 stars in every category....thank you for creating our beautiful memory.

We made a reservation to make sure that we would have a table! However it was a bit disappointing as we arrived there and told the staff that we made a reservation but somehow they let us wait for him without telling anything. I totally understand that Friday night is always busy but I think the communication is still really important. Food is great but it isn't interesting and a bit overpriced.

We went to have a relaxed lunch. The lobster ravioli and the spinach and ricotta agnollotti made us almost stay for dinner. A reserve wine list did damage our budget for the month, 2 bottles of wine does that):. Dessert was to die for and I can't emphasize enough how worth it is to go to this place,

The food, the service wines are perfect. Dishes are beautifully presented Have been here several times, always a delight
Fantastic.
Fantastic. A nice Italian restaurant with a feeling like you are at someone’s house with a bunch of people having dinner. Food is very good and the service too.
