Nothing like the original Saraghina

By Simona_NMI |

I went to Saraghina Caffè tonight and it was a complete disappointment. The aperitivo portions were meager, the service rushed, and the waiters tried to snatch my plate before I was even finished. When I told the manager, his arrogant answer was: “It’s NYC.” I’ve lived between New York, France, and Italy for over twenty years, and I know what dining culture should feel like. His assumption that I should accept small portions, bad service, and inflated prices because “that’s New York” was insulting. I’ve been a loyal customer of the original Saraghina in Bed-Stuy since it opened in 2009. Back then, the team was welcoming, the portions abundant, and the spirit genuinely Italian. This new spot is nothing like it—snobby, overpriced, stingy, and utterly disconnected from real Italian dining, where no one would dare clear your plate before you’re done.

An Italian night of pleasure in Brooklyn!

We arrived around 8:00 pm on a Sunday evening, walking from the subway since it’s located in a beautiful neighborhood. We were a party of five and started our evening with their house spritz which was amazing! I highly recommend it. They started us with the house bread and we order sourdough which was delicious, so fresh and tasty, a beautiful butter, if you can’t tell I truly enjoy a good bread. Then we continued with fresh dishes from their crudo bar such as the scallops carpaccio, the yellowfin tuna, the steak tartar clean flavors, well seasoned amazing to share so you’ll get plenty of varied flavors. At this point we knew we were in for a treat with the main courses, we had the wild board tagliatelle, the black tagliolini, the green trophie and the red cavatelli, I have to say that it was like I’ve never had pasta before, so different it blow me away. Overall it was an amazing meal, very authentic italian cuisine with great fresh produce so anything they do comes out great, would highly recommend sharing so you have more flavors to endulce and off course close with the Tiramisu! One of the best meals I’ve had on my trip to NY so far, the staff was a delight and our evening a complete joy!

Every dish we ordered was prepared perfectly and brought out in a perfect time sequence. All the food was outstanding. Best waiter ever - Marco made our evening. Entire staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a perfect evening.

A Hidden Italian Brunch Gem Near Fort Greene

By juan_escobar144 |

Saraghina Caffè is an amazing hidden gem just next to Fort Greene in Brooklyn. This Italian restaurant offers brunch until 3 PM, which gave us the perfect chance to mix things up—enjoying dishes like rigatoni, artichoke pizza, and avocado toast all in one sitting. We were a party of six, including two kids, and the food came out quickly. Our server was fantastic, especially with the little ones, keeping them entertained with silly jokes and making the experience even more enjoyable. I’d definitely recommend this place for a relaxed, high-quality brunch with a friendly vibe.

In New York from italy for the holidays, here we found the real original italian taste and an amazing wine selection. All the food has very high quality ingredients and is prepared with research and professional competence. We had gourmet pizza and other refined dishes of the italian tradition, creatively presented in an elegant and warm atmosfere with lovely staff. We had a perfect night!

wonderful lunch in a French type of setting

We had lunch at this restaurant. We sat inside, a lovely decorated space, French style brasserie. However in every bit Italian. We has a salad, ravioli and a pizza. All were very good. Fresh ingredients are the best. Subtle taste differences and a very good wine. Service was good. We had a great time. The only point left is less loud music.

Stellar food and service

Great higher end Italian restaurant that has the feel of a French cafe. The cuisine is said to be Milanese and it certainly is far more nuanced than a red sauce joint: raw seafood and tartars, decadent pizzas, veal chops and an extensive cocktail list. We sat at the bar and had excellent service from the bar tender throughout our meal. The cocktails are great and have a deeply classic feel and yet are more complex than anything you could do at home. Raw Kumamoto oysters (what more can be said). The beef tartare to me is an absolute must try and perhaps the highlight of the night. Pork Milanese was right on and huge - the horseradish sauce elevates it. And finally the pizza was a piece of culinary art.
