Decent... Go here for drinks not dinner

By nomaadic_tiffany |

I've been here for the bar & tapas, I've also order food to go. the pizza I ordered was mediocre and $15 for a small, my money would've have been better spent at the local pizzeria down the block but the tapas were good and the drink selection is unique and tasty. i'll think i will continue to only go here for drinks/tapas. I've also gone to the bakery for a quick desert - cookie was delicious but also really expensive for how small it was

Not a very good experience

By Per Ö |

In a party of three, two people ordered pizzas, while one person ordered a large salad (to share) and a hot dish (special of the day). The pizzas were burnt on the sides but soggy/not quite done in the middle. When the salad and the hot dish finally arrived, and after two reminders, the pizzas were long gone and the table cleared. No excuse (other than: it will only be a short while) and no offer to compensate the person who had to eat alone in any way. Sad to report this, particularly since we had a good experiece of the Saraghina Bakery the same morning.

too much salt in pizza

By iHeisenberg |

This place was quite and lovely. Staff was friendly. But unfortunately the only thing I was there for - pizza - was extremely salty. I could barely eat it with a lot of water.

Real Italian at a great price

By Nigel C |

Real Italian food, great pizza, breads, bufalla gnochi and pasta served well in a cool hipster style restaurant . Excellent wines and beers. What's even better is its all at a fair price rather than "Manhattan" inflated .

Delicious Pizza, great service

By Karen P |

We arrived just before the rush so didn’t have to wait for a table. Very family friendly restaurant and bakery. Great atmosphere, great service and great pizza. The salads were very tasty too. Nice wine list.

Perfect!

By MargaretWV |

Delicious, creative, with lovely staff that knows how to work together and pull things off smoothly AND without a wait! Even in the heat wave, we were comfortable because they made it so great. The focaccia with ricotta was a fab starter. All pizzas were great, and the chocolate mousse and gelato for dessert were on point. Pricing also totally reasonable. A++! Thanks for a great evening!

Nice atmosphere and great sandwiches

By Johan A |

Sat at the bar and had a Saraghina roast beef sandwich and a fried chicken sandwich. Excellent sandwiches paired with a nice salad. The restaurant has a neat and welcoming atmosphere.

Special Brooklyn Spot

By Golden16118 |

Set in a neighborhood that is booming, this busy spot is wonderful. To be warned, it might take you awhile to get a table depending on the time of arrival but they really try their best to accommodate everyone. When the weather is nice try to outside area which is great for brunch or early summer evening. The bar side is cramped but that keeps in special. The pizza is great...so is the beet salad. the menu does change with the seasons which is expected to get fresh produce.

A nice local place

By sjhalsall |

Lovely coffee with a nice atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The place gets very busy in the evening. There is a great outdoor area for dinning in the evening. Lovely meatballs, pasta and pizza.

Terrible service

By Clickmama |

The worst dining (non) experience of my entire life. So i get it, you're Saraghina well beloved in the neighborhood so why oh why should you have the common sense to hire more than one waiter on a busy lunch day during the holidays? It was my first time and i was scouting nice dining places in the area and boy oh boy what I got was a migraine. I waited a good 10 mins to be seated. No big deal, I get it, you're a busy establishment, business is good. So I was cool. Then I finally get seated. Another 10 mins to take my order AFTER taking the order of the other table that was seated after me. Again I understand it's one bumbling waiter, he has a lot on his plate. I stay cool. Eventually I'm deemed worthy to give my order. I order a drink, a starter and a pizza. My drink comes out in decent time alright and I looked at my phone and checked the time. It has been 30 mins since I got there now I'm thinking, if I ordered a starter surely that would come out soon enough. WRONG. These riff raffs take orders from 3 more tables and all those orders came out but not my starter of simple calamari. Now except if you had to freakin go to the sea to catch the shrimp and calamari in the dish I just cannot understand or justify that my starter aint come out, yet numerous pastas, 2 pizzas and sandwiches managed to come out with my table still empty. The sandwiches for the table in front of me, who came 20 mins after I was seated by the way, was the last straw for me. I gathered my coat in a huff and blew out of there. I couldn't get out fast enough. The disrespect and disregard was totally unacceptable and THEY KNEW IT. THEY KNEW WHAT THEY HAD DONE that's why NO ONE stopped me as left. Of course hell no I did not pay for the drink of which i had only taken a sip or two. First time and never again in my life will I ever set foot in such a reprehensible establishment again. I will tell everyone i know how I was treated. I am so disgusted with establishments who are there to reap the benefits of gentrification but yet blatantly disrespect black people. Saraghina do better in 2017. I would share a photo but oh yeah they basically refused to serve me. Pathetic.

Great place.

By KANewYork |

We ran about 14 miles with this place as the destination. It didn't disappoint. It has a country more-than-a-cottage feel. We had a 5 minute wait before we were seated. We shared a big table with another party of 3. There was enough space between us to keep us separated. Some tables are smaller and can seat just your own group- saw 2-4 people groups. Some are larger tables with different groups sharing space. The layout is pretty. Nice vintage-ish lights. We had a wheat beer to start. Didn't care for the 2nd ale we had- it happened to be gluten free.. didn't realize it as we ordered without looking at the menu the second time around! The pizzas were pretty decent. Good dough. They are not thin crust, but are airy. Attentive service. Just around the corner is their bakery.

Pennsylvanians visit hipster Brooklyn

By Chris M |

While driving around Brooklyn on a real estate site selection mission, my business partner and I stumbled across Saraghina. Being somewhat knowledgeable of the various Brooklyn neighborhoods we were enthusiastic about pulling over as we spied the cool looking spot with the industrial vibe while en route to our next stop. It was around one and we were very famished from a long day of driving and navigating. The table location was a bummer- cramped and directly in front of the service area. Our bad in that we should have requested another spot as plenty of open tables. Although given the array of options maybe not our bad? Service was painfully slow at first. Once our waiter addressed us the process was smooth and efficient. We enjoyed the breakfast sandwich on croissant and a the riff on a Cuban sandwich. Fresh ingredients. A very nice serving size and lovely side salad. Our waiter was friendly and very kind and courteous. Our regret was not trying the pizza. We will definitely come back next time we are in town. The other patrons were enjoying their aperitif and lunch, ranging from couples to what appeared to be neighborhood families and business people. Next time you are in the neighborhood I recommend you pop in!

Amazing pizza

By 201212201212 |

Wonderful restaurant, very child friendly. Fantastic pizza, great staff and pleasant atmosphere. It is so nice to find somewhere of such quality. We will return soon.

Awesome Brussel Sprouts

By MLOMIA |

Now Brussel Sprouts are not my favorite vegetable and I would never have ordered them, but I was with friends who ordered several sides with our pizza. All the foods were good but the Brussel sprouts were scrumptious. In fact they were so good we put in a 2nd order. The staff were also attentive. When I positively remember a meal a day later, it's worth writing about so others may also enjoy.

Good food, but also quite noisy

By Vincent K |

At first we weren't disappointed, we ordered from the tapas menu and when it arrived it was good! They did wait to serve it untill all tapas were ready, which isn't necessary as far as we are concerned and they did take their time, and although we didnt order them, the pizza's that got served all around us were looking really good. The restaurant itself is really cosy, but can also be really loud. At the end it really felt like we had to shout to each other. Concluding, food is good, but overal we had some negatives

Amazing pizza

By Bentley K |

Best wood-fired Neapolitan pizza in Bed-Stuy! All of the ingredients are fresh the pizza is delicious! Great selection and even better service.

Good pizza

By fergal l |

Nice pizza , fresh ingredients , thin base pizza , , spotted colin Farrell in there with some friends

Cozy Neighborhood Spot with Good Pizza and Coffee

By nashirm |

A good spot in Bedstuy; the pizza is more artesian than truly NY style but no complaints. The restaurant itself is a great spot to meet up and the coffee during the day is more than decent.

Great Italian food

By 391Marta |

This Brooklyn restaurant offers a great selection of fine Italian-American dishes beautifully cooked and nicely presented. The wine list is also pretty good. The atmosphere is cosy, young, and friendly.

Worth the wait

By Ronan |

Fantastic pizza at reasonably priced. Also nice little bar to grab and drink while waiting to be seated. Highly recommend!

Worth the trip to Bed Sty

By Tiare A |

Dining with friends on the outdoor patio on a warm September morning with grape laden vines overhead, delicious blueberry ricotta pancakes and yummy eggs Florentine makes for a perfect start to Sunday or any day.

GOOD PIZZA

By giuseppe0057 |

we had the coppa and carciofi pizza, salad, fried brussel sprouts and the focaccia. everything was very tasty. the brussel sprouts were the best i've ever tasted, they were slightly sweet! very old looking inside......very brooklyn

It's ok

By Mike T |

Stayed close by here for a week, dinner here was suggested by our host. The restaurant and bakery are lovely. The writers were very good , the pizza though was a little too small for the price and the sauces too wet, a 6.2 maybe. The crusty bread was very very good, fun place in Bed-Sty where your choices are limited.

Great pizza in Bed Stuy

By rottentalkie |

Family and friends have been raving about this place and we finally joined them in our latest trip to Brooklyn. Very nice atmosphere and the pizza was delicious. We were there for lunch so the menu was more limited than the dinner menu. Still had some interesting sandwiches salads and a nice brunch offering. But we were there for the pizza and it did not disappoint. They like to use anchovies (which was fine by our group but I know many don’t like them) so indicate to your server if you don’t want them. We tried 4 of the pies (marinara, Napoli, cappicola and sausage with mushrooms) and they were all very good. Great wine, beer and after dinner drink selections and they make killer espresso. I will repeat. Go for it if you can.

Just awesome!

By Forzamalmjr |

We were short under 30 people from Sweden that - luckily for us - found this place through the always so well spotting Time Out. Worth the subway trip away from our hotel at Times Square, to say the least, a quiet neighbourhood, almost sleepy. But the place! So great to have a prefixed menu of this and that, from coldcuts to risotto to pizza and pasta. Just great! And really great assortment of wines and beers. We loved it!

Excellent

By Ville A |

Great food and atmosphire. Service was also nice. Good beer collection and tasty pizzas and risotto.

Very nice restaurant

By Isa Lina |

We enjoyed our meal at Saraghina's. The place is very nicely decorated, with a large terrasse and modern designed interior with candlelight. The food is really good, we had chosen other options than pizzas and everything was very well done, especially the salad with great dressing. Service was ok, not very personal and not especially nice but efficient. We found the whole setup quite ideal for a romantic evening.

Great buzz, delicious food, good service

By TomGowers |

Based on the great reviews and a recommendation from our host we decided to eat at Saraghina when staying in a nearby AirB&B in Brooklyn. We loved it! The atmosphere was really buzzing, the pizzas were delicious and there is a bar you can have a drink in while you wait for your table. It got busy pretty quickly so we were glad we arrived early as we got seated within 10 mins of arriving. It was just the kind of place we were looking for after a long day of travelling. My only criticism is that there was no children’s menu but we shared three pizzas between 4 which was plenty (and took the leftovers home in a box for the next day). Highly recommended, but arrive early.

Nice place for brunch-lunch

By Theo V |

The four of us had a nice lunch with wild boar pasta (great), hamburger (so so) and an omelette (real good) and a fantastic pancake. Excellent espresso and cappuccino. The Tiramisu sweet and too much coco powder but nice. All in all again a good experience. The waiter was excellent; good Prosecco!

Had a breakfast and a dinner

By JohnRCentralVermont |

We 5 had breakfast outside, very nice but understand that brunch on weekends even better. Pizza dinner for 4 on Friday was crowded, but food was relatively fast and good. Beware - they accept cash but no cards

Brunch, lunch and dinner

By Openmindedreview |

This place serves the best pizza in town, including some of the best cocktails! The brunch is amazing and don’t even get me started about the garden salad! The coffee is also a die hard for any coffee connoisseur. I used to visit here at least twice a week, because the ambience, staff and attention to detail was exceptional! The only fault I will have is the price could come down a dollar a two... That’s all, please visit one of the best places in bed stuy!

Umm.....IF this is one of the top five Brooklyn pizza isn't great.

By Wildwoodatheart |

We tried this place because it was highly recommended to us. It was just down the street from the inn we were staying at, so it was convenient. We were there on a Monday night. The restaurant part is very small. We got seated at a table quickly. The chairs are just folding chairs, REALLY uncomfortable to be sitting in at a restaurant. (We were NOT at a picnic after all.) There were three of us at a very small table. Our waiter was indifferent. He took our order and brought our food, but no effort was made to give great service. We tried two different pizzas. I was not really impressed with either. They were both good, but neither warranted the rave reviews I've seen. In fact, there was really nothing creative about their menu. Maybe I've traveled too much, and eaten too much artisian pizza, but this place just didn't seem any better than mediocre to me. It would have been nice if they offered a "special" pizza weekly, or seasonally, that included fresh, local, creative ingredients and flavors, but they don't. You can get just the plain old basics that you see everywhere. Oh well. It was food.

My favorite neighborhood gem.

By Jacob M |

It's important in a city like New York to find little places (coffee shops, bars, gardens, hotel lobbies, etc) that feel like home. This restaurant has been that for me here in BedStuy. I genuinely love everything about it except the cash-only part. Menu highlights for me include yogurt and fruit, and omelets for brunch, and any of their dinner specials. This place nails the details.

Great ambience

By WasPY6 |

Loved this Italian restaurant in Brooklyn. Ambience was great. The service too. In fact the whole place screams friendliness and fun. Enjoyed it so much. Highly recommend if One is around that area.

Delicious NY style pizza

delicious pizza with fresh tomato sauce and fresh ingredients. Went there with friends. Make sure you also try the tiramissu

Wood-fired pizza in a cozy atmosphere

By trvlwrldgrl |

What a great spot to warm up on a chilly night! We were seated in the area with the wood-fired stone oven, so we were quite toasty very quickly. A couple pizzas and split the house wine, which resulted in a delicious yet reasonably priced meal! Pizzas were so huge they were used as leftovers for our lunch the next day, which made it even more affordable. Good service; didn't mess anything up and didn't have to wait very long for anything. Would gladly return!

Delicious pizza, a little pricey

By lindabananana |

Large tasty pizzas made with sourdough. A range of both traditional and more interesting toppings (e.g. squash). Didn't have the pasta so can't comment on that. My mom and I shared one between us which was filling but my boyfriend had one to himself as he was really hungry. We also shared a portion of fritto misto which was excellent. Good range of beers on tap and a number of options on the wine list. Only negative is that I would consider it to be slightly pricey compared to Franco Manca's in the UK - seems to be aiming at the same market and doing the same thing.

Overhyped, overpriced, and uncomfortable

By Rich W |

I'd heard glowing praise of Saraghina, but it was a real disappointment. Whilst the staff were genuinely friendly, and the tiramasu was very nice, pretty much everything else about my experience fell short of expectations. Being sat on a folding metal chair that looked and felt like it had been rescued from a dumpster was not pleasant. The menu lacked variety and the handwritten specials menu was basically illegible. Though the dough was nice, the pizza toppings were bland; I was bored of it after a couple of slices. Fashionable and friendly, absolutely, but I just paid $40 to go to bed hungry.

Need a quick to go that’s heathy

By Elizabeth C |

Halloween was winding down and we needed dinner. Chicken , beef , excellent veggies were ready for pick up in 30 minutes. Healthy and yummy

Delicious pizza

By Matt J |

Visited with my daughter whilst staying in Bed-Stuy on a short trip to NYC. The decor and ambience is a little bit hipster for my taste but my daughter loved it! We were seated immediately and the service was speedy. Both pizzas were absolutely delicious and I'd also definitely recommend the homemade lemonade. 5 stars because beards aren't a good enough reason to dock a point!

Delicious

By dskunz |

Our visit at Saraghina was a great experience. Service was fast and friendly. The house wine was tasty and the pizza with pumpkin we tried was from another planet. F*** that was delicious!!! The Tiramisu and the Espresso at the end were the perfect finish of a great and delicious food experience. Thank you guys!

Pizza by an artist!

This place has great atmosphere. The salad we had was very fresh, the pizza was just wonderful. I'd come back to Brooklyn just to eat here.

Road Trip

By brian h |

Stayed in Brooklyn and this restaurant recommended to us it has its own bakery which is great for breakfast they are basically open all day they also have a bar tapis bar which we did not try but it looked good the restaurant is very busy cannot book but good atmosphere a little noisy but the food was really good if you are looking for good quality at reasonable prices this is the place

Good pizza

By AlanLondon_UK |

Good pizza and well dressed house salad, nice wine by the glass in an eclectic setting. Always busy, worth a visit if you’re staying in Bed Stuy.

A Warm Welcome to Brooklyn on Our First Night

By Sprinheel |

We visited Saraghina Pizzeria on our very first night in New York, fresh off the plane from Manchester, UK — and while we were both running on empty after a long day of travel, the restaurant still made a strong impression. The service was first class — warm, attentive, and relaxed — exactly what we needed after a hectic arrival. The food was genuinely lovely: well-made, flavourful, and clearly handled with care. We both really enjoyed what we ordered, and the setting had a great energy — stylish without feeling forced, and buzzing with local life. That said, we were both far too tired to fully appreciate the experience at the time. If anything, it’s a spot we’d love to revisit with fresher eyes (and a sharper appetite) on another trip. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the place or the experience — it just deserved a more well-rested version of us.

Very good

By Victor M |

A good and little-bit overpriced place. The pizzas were good. The service was good +. But not excellent. The whole atmosphere amazing. The furniture needs some update. The beer cost 7$ but the amount was a VERY small glass. Overall - recommended .

Two incredible meals

By AJeanneM |

Our 3-generation family of 5 ate dinner here twice during a 6 day trip to Brooklyn, and on both occasions it was absolutely fantastic. We arrived early on each day (between 6 and 7PM) so on neither occasion did we need to wait for a table. We sat outside on one occasion and inside on another. Both were comfortable. On each occasion we had friendly, informative and experienced servers who never missed a beat. We ordered multiple appetizer specials, salads, pizza and a large main (and a dessert or two) to all share family style on both occasions, along with cocktails and a liter of the house white and the food was without a doubt as fresh, expertly prepared and delicious as the best meals we ate in Italy. Given the amount of food we ate and the quality of service the cost was felt to be a very fair value and I look forward to going back the next time I am in the area. The restaurant only accepts cash, and I believe they have an ATM onsite.

Simply the best pizza in New York

By englishmaninmidtown |

Situated in the rather 'edgy' neighbourhood of Bed Sty, this is one of Brooklyn's best kept secrets. This is simply the best pizza in New York, served in a bohemian and typically 'Brooklyn' hipster environment. The tiramisu was extraordinary, and the best I think I have ever had.

Saraghina is Sublime- Morning through Late-Night!

By Patrick R |

Saraghina is much, more than just a pizzeria! From breakfast or gelato at their bakery, to an an a fresco brunch on their charming terrace, or late night espresso with a salted chocolate mousse dessert -- always a delicious experience!

Pizza was good

By Eric H |

Great local place !

By Don_Pedro_CH |

This place really has atmosphere ! It's furnished in a very basic, but functional manner & gives one a 'at home'. Great people running it & serving you. Overall very good value-for-the-money dishes incl. daily specials.

Birthday Dinner

By BigTega |

My son lives in Brooklyn and would tell me about a place around the corner from his house. I come from California and always head to the City for eats. One night I said let's try Saraghina around the corner. HOLY!!! am I glad I finally tried the Restaurant side of Saraghina. I can tell you I have been to Italian Restaurants all over Manhatten and this food was Amazing! It felt like this is the place where the locals eat. It is in Bed Stuy Brooklyn in a mostly residential area. Every one in Brooklyn knows where Saraghina is. It's the go to spot!!

Great place!

By GOM51 |

We were staying nearby, on holiday. Our hosts recommended this place, and we were very pleased they did. The pizzas were excellent, with inventive combinations of (vegetarian) toppings; the service was friendly and attentive; the interior (and exterior, too, come to that!) are decorated in an attractive, individual way. Altogether it was a very relaxed and enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend if you find yourself anywhere near Halsey Street/ Bed-Stuy area.

Good food and vibes but waited too long.

By PaulSnood |

Would have enjoyed the food more if we hadn't waited almost 2 hours for a table on a recent Sunday night. Drinks were good but they need to take reservations.

Combination of bakert and italian food

By Siem J |

The italian restaurant has an indoor and outdoor site. When you have to wait you can enjoy the bar with tapas. The choice for food is varied and good. Also suited for families. The food is good but not at the top.

Great pizza

By Michael D |

If you want to enjoy really great pizza in stylish restaurant with great atmosphere, you definitely have to go there. Staff friendly and nice as well. I will come back during my stay in NYC.

In Praise of the Perfect Polpetta (Meatball)

By Chaz C |

Our Brooklyn-based daughter had been raving about Saraghina as her new go-to place, so on a recent trip to NYC we had to try it. We started with some antipasti; mixed marinated olives, fava e cicoria (bean purée sautéed with chicory, chili, lemon & Parmigiano) which was smooth and warm, and bread from their own bakery which was soft and chewy inside while crusty outside. We also sampled the burrata, a traditional cheese dish with thick hearty bread dipped in olive oil. While Saraghina specializes in wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas, here’s where I met up with the real star of the show, the humble polpetta (meatball). These polpetta are braised grass-fed beef ground beef swimming in a rich tomato sauce, sprinkled with parmigiano. This dish was like no other and elevated the humble meatball to gourmet status. Another delicious entrée was the burrata Castelfranco, served in a boat of cabbage with radicchio, citrus blood orange, and parmigiana vinaigrette. The coppa & carciofi pizza (house-made mozzarella with roasted spicy artichokes and basil) hit all the right notes, but the star entrée was the polpetta (again!) served over pasta. The meal was perfectly complemented by a bottle of Chianti and Montepulciano. My recommendation – Saraghina should start a whole polpetta menu; on pasta, on pizza, on burrata, etc. To finish off the meal, the dark chocolate mousse was smooth and creamy, with sea salt tingling in every taste bite. Of all the restaurants we visited this week, Saraghina was our favorite. We will be back!

a gem in bed stuy

Bed-Stuy treasure

By ChrisToNYC |

Following earlier reviews we found this Bed-Stuy gem which we will tell folks back home in Germany about. Atmosphere absolutely relaxed and kitchen offers everything for a cool, colorful NY art crowd. Highly recommended!

Third time as good as the first

By Travelgeek1982 |

Third visit and it was as good as the first! Saraghina never disappoints. Fritto misto was excellent and the pizzas divine. Waiter was professional and made sure we had a good time. It’s great to see wine by carafe being made available.

Great food and perfect service

By Hermanator2 |

We visited this restaurant twice during our stay at New York in an Airbnb in Brooklyn. We had to wait a few minutes to get seated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You can eat both Spanish and Italian based. We have chosen for Italian twice and it was great. Steak was perfetto. Pizza was fresh and very good. We liked it and came back for a second time in a neighbourhood which is filled with many lousy cheap restaurants.

This means PIZZA

By HarryAnders |

That you have to travel 4.000 miles to find this incredible restaurant. The quality of the food here is extrodinary. Both main course as desert were prepared with craftsmanship, skill and finesse.

Charming local pizzeria

By glance-to-leg |

We are currently staying in Brooklyn (29 July to 6 August 2019), and were recommended Saraghina. In the last three nights we have eaten there twice, as well as availing ourselves of their tapas bar for drinks and nibbles in the late afternoon. The staff are a total delight (including being very accommodating to our ten and fourteen year-old), and the food is excellent. I have lived on and off in Italy, and have an Italian daughter, and while this is not absolutely authentic (there is too much sauce on the pasta for example), it is an excellent compromise between first-rate Italian food and what the locals might expect. The atmosphere is a delight, unpretentious but welcoming, and I cannot praise the charming staff enough. Other reviewers who have criticised them (and they are few and far between) must either have been provocative or very, very unlucky. Wonderful place. Visit it.

It was really nice.

By Samuel D |

The food was great as well as the decor and the staff. We had a really great time there in that cosy and typical restaurant with the family.

Great Ambiance

By Overhillanddale |

Passing through Brooklyn for quick visit with my daughter and her boyfriend and they brought me here. Had been years before but did not remember the name. We had a few tasty cocktails while waiting for an outside table in the cozy outdoor backyard. The food was as good as I remembered. We shared the tartare, sautéed kale and the salsiccia pizza. The tartare came with a raw egg on top, which I used to already being mixed in, but once mixed it was delicious. Kale (my daughter's choice) was tasty and tender. But the pizza - wow, it was so tasty, the crust done perfectly. I will go again the next time in Brooklyn.

Fantastic cozy place!

Italian Atmosphere

By Valentino F |

Good atmosphere, there are a lot tables in the garden, good especially in the summer. I just tasted for now pizza but I will came back soon!

Absolutely delicious

By ChristelRad |

Staying at a local AIRBNB property, Saraghina Restaurant and Bakery was the owners number 1 recommendation and we can now see why. A handful of blocks away, the quaint atmosphere did not disappoint. We arrived around 6pm and by the time we left the place was full. My daughter, husband and I shared 2 pizzas, the Margharita and the Salsiccia. Both pizzas were delicious, so fresh and light. I also ordered a side of roasted sweet potato which was divine. We also had a glass of Italian white and red wine which were very complimentary to the meal. As we did not finish all the pizza, we were allowed to take the remainder with us. Over this place was a two thumbs up recommendation. Local, authentic Italian, fresh and light.

Great pizza

By Mulperi M |

Nice, modern casual athmosphere. Quick and friendly service. Pizza was very tasty and can be recommended.

Definitely worth stopping by

By Mark C |

I decided to check out this place down the street that gets such great reviews and am very happy with that decision. I split a pizza and seasonal salad and also ordered a pitcher of the house wine. The pizza was some of the best I've had and I enjoyed the whole experience. I will be coming back soon.

Extremely Good

By T J |

I usually take out. One of the best pizza places in Brooklyn. I took a very picky twelve year old and she really enjoyed it.

Fantastic cosy restaurant

By Scrappyjaz |

I booked this place via email from the UK as it was highly recommend by our air B and B hosts. There is a bakery and a restaurant. Service was great (from our Columbian waiter) and the pizzas were superb. Decent house wine and had a local cider. Would have returned if we had more time in NYC! Book ahead as it was packed with locals in trendy Brooklyn.

Yum!

By jack s |

Delicious pastries, breads, cheeses, coffee and deli groceries, with attentive staff. Main problem is that the food is too tempting, but the fact that it's not cheap in a way helps to keep one's appetite in check.

Tasty pizza

By BetsyHK |

We had delicious pizzas and attentive service here. The pizzas with chorizo and fresh Mozzarella cheese were yummy. Worth a visit!

Not fancy, just great

By doclewk |

We were there for brunch on a rainy morning. I had the Francese salad which was delicious. The place is rustic and funky. I need to go back for a dinner.

Superb pizzas

By mcn125 |

Really nice atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food. We visited the place twice with the colleagues, and both times the food was amazing. Can recommend the pizzas with more uncommon topings.

Ok

By pooltimepatrick |

Showed up one person short and could not be seated until entire party was there ?? Offered nothing while we waited in an area not large enough for people to wait. The seating inside is tight. The food came quickly, maybe a litttle to quick? The spaghetti was like warm and just ok. The lasagna was just ok, it was missing flavor, nothing complex about these dishes. 2 pieces of bread brought for 4 people and not enough olive oil to cover them. No butter brought to the table. I will say the margaritas were small but very tasty. Inside it is dark and noisy, metal garage like chairs at your table?? For the price decor, taste, and small portions its not t worth it. I gave the third star for the margaritas only. There’s a lot of competition in the area hope they realize this.

Great Italian food, nice atmosphere.

Real Italian pizza, great octopus salad, good chitarra (impossible to find in NY), and all in a very nice setting. Mixed crowd (black and white) and a beautiful garden in summer - comfortable, welcoming, and delicious.

Great fresh bread

By Mia L |

Great place for finding good, fresh, French style real bread - unusual treat in the US! Good service too was appreciated.

Great Food/Drink, Poor Service

By Houston S |

Arrived early (6:00 ish) to beat crowd and our son had to leave by 7:45. Asked to be seated with 3 of our 4 party and infant. Told we could not be seated till all party there even though we said we were ready to order right then. Sent next door to bar where it took over 25 minutes to get a draft beer and one of the daily drink specials even though not crowded. Once last of our party arrived we were taken back to restaurant section but with no seating outside as we originally requested. Ordered several appetizers (great!) and two pizzas and asked for food to be brought as it became ready. Drink order again took over 20 minutes to arrive and apps came in timely manner but pizza did not come until apps all finished and cleared, i.e., about an hour after ordered. Understand that is standard practice but we specifically asked for food to be served so our son could eat before leaving. Come on folks this is a pizza joint (a very good one), not a fine dining place!

Great antipasti but main course not so great

By Aldo P |

The antipasti were as good (if not better) than the ones I order in Rome: we had fave and cicoria (which was excellent and a generous portion) along with a misto fritto (also well done and generous). Where the restaurant did not meet the standards was with the main course: I had a hamburger which was practically burnt on the outside surrounded with soggy fries shaped like matches. What was surprising was the slowness of the service: we waited over half an hour for the main courses and had to solicit action from a waiter who was not very efficient. He would go by our table and not remove the empty dishes even if he was empty-handed.

The best homey atmosphere!!

By Maksym C |

That was a huuuge surprise while walking through not-clean and weird Brooklyn we found that place!! Soo great atmosphere inside. Nice drinks.

Best pizza in the USA!

By NicLock |

A big call I know but it really was amazing food. The lasagne and other pasta dishes were also amazing and the Raspberry Sour beer was out of this world. I loved this place.

Absolutely amazing

By setarehvatan |

I am staying at an Airbnb in the neighborhood of this restaurant, and I was pleasantly surprised to find this food spot. The wait wasn't too long about an hour and a half before they closed. The restaurant is incredibly cute and has European vibes emitting off of different aspects of the dining experience. The taste and quality was the equivalent of at least a $$$ dining establishment, although it is ranked as a $$. I ordered several different dishes. I was told that some of the dishes are seasonal, so with that in mind, I would currently recommend the grilled ramps with goat cheese dish. It is absolutely amazing! I will come back the next time I am in the area.

A gem in the middle of Brooklyn

By Joseph S |

This place is so cool, you think that you are in a New Jersey beach club or up in the Catskills. The decor is early 50's with old original signs around and all white wood and open space.great pizzas and salads, sandwiches great beer selection and great service. If in Brooklyn, go there.

Was expecting more

By shabbaireland |

Picked this restaurant from reading reviews on Tripadvisor. Very busy place, had to wait 40mins for a table, which is always a good sign. Ordered 2 pizza's and a childs bowl of Spaghetti, food came out very quick. The pizza`s looked amazing but were just ok... base very soggy and the spaghetti was cold. They were clearing the plates from the table even before some pf us were finished eating... This is something I really hate. We felt we were been pushed to leave.

Delicious Pizza - Worth the visit

By Mary Anne D |

Saraghina Includes a restaurant, tapas restaurant and bakery. We had lunch there. They are known for their pizza, and have many other foods, including fabulous looking large lunch salads. We ordered six different pizzas (all 12" in diameter), and all were excellent. The one that was the absolutely the best. It had prosciutto and artichoke toppings. It is the second best pizza I have ever had, in my many years of eating pizza. Service was good. Prices $$, but worth it. This is a "must" if you are in Brooklyn. Make a reservation, it is a very busy restaurant.

Rustic Brooklyn charm

By Silverfox2204 |

Visited this local favourite after a very long flight and we were found a table for 6 in quick time despite it being very busy. Between us the order comprised lasagne, pizza, spaghetti Bolognese and ravioli - all was delivered quickly and was very tasty and pasta is made fresh onsite. IMO the pasta / lasagna dishes were small for the money paid $18ish from memory. Pizza was big and was good value. The place itself is very warm and welcoming and is a popular favourite for locals with good reason - al in all very good

No better Italian in Brooklyn!

By LynnTT |

I used to live 2 blocks from Saraghina - boy do I miss being so close by! Whenever I'm in NYC I visit, even if it's a trek in from the city, because their food is the best. Authentic, creatively presented, top quality meats and sides...if you love Italian food just go. Seriously. Just go!

Superb Pizza

By Fst85 |

Been here for dinner, after a couple of weeks of american food, I really needed something I do love, as Italian. Not big expectations, being in Brooklyn, but instead, a great satisfaction when the pizza and the beers arrived. I had a "mozzarella di bufala with prosciutto" and everything was as good as back home! the place is quite small and warm, such a nice atmosphere there. Thank you for the great pizza!

Great atmosphere

By Sharkbite70 |

Visited midweek and absolutely packed. However still managed to get a table and service was attentive and efficient. Something on the menu for everyone and vegan options available. Felt cosy with a great vibe at the same time.

Would not go back

By Jack F |

Went with a group of 7. The service was extremely slow, the food not so great, and the plates were chipped (4 out of the 7 had to be returned). By chipped, I mean larger than the size of a quarter. How do you serve people with broken plates? The seats did not match - many were metal folding chairs, scraped, and dented. I ordered the lobster roll, and it looked like an omelet on bread with so much egg and items other than lobster. I would definitely not order that again. The chocolate mousse was dry and not tasty. The others liked their burger, pizza, and Tiramisu. Was disappointed and would not go back. It was not that crowded, but we waited so long - 2 1/2 hours for lunch. Some of us had to leave before dessert because it got late. It is a small place, a bit cramped. Better for couples or small group of 3 or 4.

Great atmosphere

By Tara N |

Had a great meal here. Delicious food, great atmosphere. We are not from NYC so feel like we were getting an authentic experience. The cocktails are pretty good also

How did I get here???

By James S |

Starved; Just got to airbnb rental and got the directions wrong. On foot and lost with a famished wife in tow, stumbled upon this hole in the wall place where the menu was convoluted and the prices were surprising for a first time NYC traveler. But... Turns out that the food was good, a food snob might feel like it was a noteworthy find. The waitstaff was functional and the restaurant a bit cramped for a party larger than 6. Definitely not for the Chicken Nugget crowd.

Great Restaurant, Whether for Family Brunch or Friends' Dinner

By atrudeau12 |

This is one of our favorite spots in the city. It is located on a nice tree-lined street with beautiful brownstones - very cool neighborhood. Great meals, great vibes, and great service. We typically go with the pizzas as they have all been delicious. We brought a friend who was gluten free and she loved it as well.

Great pizza, but at a price

By ZippyLondon 🇬🇧 |

Saraghina doesn't have any garish outdoor lighting to shout they're open for business, but from the number of people inside, they don't need to. It's a nice, dimly-lit dining room where friendly wait-staff deliver some brilliant pizzas. We started with some Buffalo mozzarella (very good) and a fritto misto (delish). It was then a couple of pizzas (between three of us), two deserts and some pretty decent wine by the carafe. An enjoyable evening, but at $190 for a pizza dinner, a little on the steep side.

Solid!

By TheRealKhalilah |

Exceptional pizza and lentil soup! Staff extremely attentive and accommodating (I had a cold and the server offered to prepare my drink warm). Glad I found this neighborhood gen during my stay in Brooklyn.

"The best buffalo mozzarella pizza I've had. Including in Rome!"

By Peter S |

A great bakery and restaurant. We bought pre-cooked lasagne from the deli/bakery and took it home to microwave....beautiful. Next night we ate in the restaurant. It takes shabby chic to a new level, but the pizzas were excellent - quote above from our 15-year-old - and the homemade pappardelle ragu was beautiful too.

Delicious Pizza

By Erica P |

Went for a late night dinner our 1st night in Brooklyn. Great service and tasty pizza. Good start to our culinary tour of the city.

Lovely food

By Nichola S |

Great food but expensive, small portions. Wait staff lack enthusiasm , got orders incorrect . Maitre, d rude hardly looks at customers just ushers people about. Do not like gratuity to be automatically added to bill total . Place is rustic / dirty.

Wonderful Italian Experience

By Jon L |

We have eaten here with local family for a handful of years now. Always a favorite spot in Bedstuy we never pass up. The food is excellent, and the service is always great as well. Good choice of wine and beer as well. The bakery is an excellent breakfast on the go spot as well with freshness as well as grocery items such as true marinara.

Some of the best Pizza in Brooklyn

By Beau R |

Absolutely love this place. Crust is just how I like it, not too doughy but not too thin and crispy. Simple topping combinations and very good apps make for a nice evening out. It's crowded but worth it.

The pictures don't do it justice

By waverider681 |

Shortly upon entering the establishment, we were told to expect a long wait so we decided to take a seat at the bar and start with a few tapas to quell our growing appetites. The dining commenced with rather unimpressive croquettes which were thankfully followed by aesthetically stunning toasts topped with an overly-generous heap of goat cheese drizzled with honey and finished with a sprinkling of pink peppercorns (Capricho de Cabra). I cannot wait to try and replicate this creation at home. After an extended wait time, we were finally seated (be prepared for shared tables if necessary) and ordered several pizzas for the group. The stand out winner was the Coppa and Carciofi pizza, which was topped with mozzarella, basil, spicy artichokes, and cured ham. Absolutely incredible flavor. Although the other pizzas were good (Salsaccia, Prosciutto and Funghi), they didn't even come close to the wow flavor of the Coppa and Carciofi. Overall I was really happy with the quality of the toppings and flavors, but I could do with a little less flour on the crust. I have also heard great things about their brunch pizza and look forward to returning to try it as well.

Rejoice: Saraghina's Can Cram You In!

By Robert R |

Okay: Saraghina's is noisy and crowded. Deal with it: there is a good reason for that. But Saraghina's crown jewel, the fornacio -- the oven -- is stoked and smoking hot. The bar is small, and the bartender is a wizard. And Saraghina's busy staff are focused on seating you and serving you until your eyes bubble. The food is authentic, ingredients are superb, everything is well-prepared and toothsome. Saraghina's high art is in getting out so many excellent meals, so efficiently, and providing such a satisfying dining experience in humble environs. Even the rest room was well-maintained. Best pizza ever

We sat at the bar and had the best pizza we've ever had (sausage pizza with extra garlic...) We thought we would have leftovers and we didn't!

Fantastic Food!

By susanne0609 |

We were told about this restaurant by Brooklyn locals. It was one of our best meals, so we ate their twice during our visit. The pizza and pasta's were fantastic. No need to go all the way to Manhattan for Italian food. This is a neighborhood favorite. I would go weekly if I lived in Brooklyn.

Delicious but I'm still hungry

By Michael W |

Saraghina is a nice, chill, neighborhood spot. I went there on a weekday afternoon and it was not crowded. I liked the cafe/cafeteria decor. The staff was courteous and the wait for our food wasn't long. I had some type of pasta, the serving was kind of small and it came with no bread on the side but it was delicious. My partner got a panini that had chicken and avocado, which I tried and was delicious also. After our meal we went around the corner to the bakery which has its entrance on Halsey to try some pastries. The price? Very reasonable. Overall I had a good experience.

Delicious Wood Fire Pizza. Beautiful atmosphere. Amazing Wine Selection

By Jordan A |

I came in town with one request: "Feed me the best Pizza." This place exceed all my expectations. Located just a few blocks away from the Utica Ave subway station, this dine-in pizza shop boast an intimate industrial atmosphere that invites great conversation. Servers made great food and wine recommendations. We had a delicious Nebbiolo "Sassella" Alisio Pietro Nera. Each pizza feeds about 2 people. I highly recommend the Fall Ortolana and Prosciutto & Funghi. The food is top notch. Cannot say enough good this about this restaurant.

A must-go!!

By The Groove Traveler |

- Pizza is great I had napoletana and my partner took the Salsiccia one. Pizza is deliciously tasty. Soft crust. Very good cheese and ingredients. Proper one. As an Italian person I highly recommend this place for Pizza. We had a Peroni beer and house wine which was ok. Chocolate mousse Dessert was nicely presented and good. The waiters are really attentive and accommodating. There is a nice atmosphere and restaurant looks cool. They also have a dish with Bottarga (Flathead mullet roe). Very unusual and it makes me feel like coming back again to try it out! The also have a bakery next door and gave us two complimentary croissants that came with the bill. Nice. Would I recommend this restaurant to my friends? Of course I would!

A gem in Brooklyn

By Lsq14 |

Excellent pizza, salads, pasta, gazpacho, and the best cafe americano! Great, attentive wait staff. Patio outback just perfect.

Complete indifference to people waiting for a table

By Corvellerhill |

Do not even think of eating at this place on a Saturday night. Our party of four arrived at 7:30 pm and were told that we had a 25 minute wait. One hour later we were still waiting after being told we were next on the list. The hostess seemed completely unconcerned and offered no apologies. We finally gave up in favor of a nearby Mexican restaurant called Tapeche which seated us immediately. I will never set foot in this place again.

Casual dining, great menu and ambience.

By Micheal H |

4 visitors to New York staying in Brooklyn. Found this magic place, all old furniture, chairs that you would ordinarily throw out brown paper table cloths! All the staff were brilliant food terrific. We ate in the outdoor yard under the evening sun with vines and bushes making a lovely setting. Since we had only flown into jfk at lunchtime thie evening set us up nicely.

Lovely meal and waiter

By Redstar1000 |

Came here for a quick evening meal. The ambience was lovely and we got seated very quickly. We ordered and the meal came out after around 10 minutes. The pizza was lovely and very tasty. The pasta had an amazing flavour. We didn’t stay for long but you could spend a long time here if you wanted. The waiter we had was very nice and attentive. If we were staying in the area for longer we would 100% be back. They have a bar with tapas so if there are no tables free you can wait at the bar which I think is a lovely idea.

Dinner

By Jmhubbert |

Friendly, yet efficient service. Fantastic food and atmosphere. In my 10 year old daughters own words, " daddy, this definitely is the best pizza in New York and probably the world!" Highly recommended and I look forward to returning to this quirky, yet tasteful resteraunt.

Wonderful pizza

By raspykarrot |

This was the first restaurant we went to in Brooklyn and the food was perfect to restore our energy. They have house wine by the liter and some fun seasonal pizza options. The thin crust is perfect and I would definitely go again. The only downside is that they are cash only but still they are fantastic.

Saraghina reveiw

By Richard B |

Great food , good music, really good atmosphere Only downside Cash only, and ATM in a dark corner very difficult to use, then rejected my card had to go across the road to another ATM that worked.

Visiting New York

By Vez A |

Visiting New York for a few days, we had to select where to go to for our meals. We had come from the other part of the world and were looking to taste good ‘ole New York food fare. My daughter suggested Saraghina. She was on the money with this suggestion. Their pizza was delicious. We went for the margherita and the prosciutto; excellent choices. As is common to restaurants in this part of the town (Brooklyn?) the service was superb. The ambiance added a nice dash to our dinner. Will visit next time we’re in the city. And stay much longer for their other offerings.

Eclectic place with great pizza and wine

By Jennifer W |

A friend and I were vacationing and staying nearby. This was the first place we went to in Brooklyn and it was a perfect start to our vacation. We split a pizza and a half-liter of the house red wine. The decor is rustic and goes well with the overall theme of the place. We enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely go back.

Busy - book your table!

By Ollys |

Fantastic buzz to this place. The associated bar adjacent was just as busy. We couldn’t get a table so had a drink and tapas in the bar whilst we waited for takeaway pizza. Delicious and didn’t have to wait too long.

Bed Stuy Brick Oven Pizza

By Simoneilana |

Saraghina is a Bed-Stuy neighborhood gem. The brick oven pizza is on point, as are the selection of daily specials. I generally go for the pizza, though I also enjoyed the pasta dishes I have tried. To beat the dinner crowds, try Saraghina for lunch. Pizza is still on the menu, as are a number of salad and sandwich options.

Consistently great!

By Tita Elvie |

This restaurant is near our place and so we visit often, whether it’s to outdoor dine, pick up or go to bakery and it’s always great. I have tried a ton of different things including everything at the bakery (likely added a few pounds due to this place!). I highly recommend eating here and if in the area and only want a snack head into their bakery. Happy to have this excellent place in the neighborhood!

Great italian food & pizza in the heart of Bed Stuy

By annepnyc |

Admittedly this restaurant is right around the corner from my house so I have eaten here ridiculously often. Now that it's popular & there's more often than not a wait, I've taken to ordering for pickup (not as good, but better than dealing with the line. That said - come here for the atmosphere and food, not the service. The decor is deliciously eclectic -- lots of salvaged material is assembled to create a homey, rabbit warren of a converted garage space. Each pizza is good for one ("maybe two" is you're not super hungry and are splitting an appetizer) - my favorite: their bufalo pizza. Another tried and true is their fritto misto. If you want a salad you can't go wrong with their market salad. And to top it off, their tiramisu is great.

Cozy Eats & Treats

By eugenia27 |

I am in LOVE with Saraghina! My friend and I randomly happened to chance by it during our strolls around the Bed-Stuy area and we immediately fell in love with the place. We walked in during an early lunch so the place was pretty empty but I'd bet that it would get bustling during normal hours. The atmosphere has a very rustic and vintage feel that I couldn't help but fall in love with and I am a sucker for cozy and charming local eats such as these. I got to try the Prosciutto & Funghi wood fired pizza and my friend got the Saraghina sandwich. Both were extremely tasty and we loved every bite of it. The price was really good for the amount and quality of food we got. And the staff were pretty charming in helping us non-locals out too. NOTE: The actual entrance to Saraghina's is indeed a bakery where you're more than welcome to buy/to-go their foods, but the side entrance is where you want to go to actually enter the sit-in restaurant. Enjoy!

Local gem

By FloridaAuthor |

We were here for drinks, tapas, and, of course, pizza. It was wonderful food in a fun and cozy atmosphere. The service wasn't quite on point but the ambiance and food and drink made it worth it.

Off-beat, hipster decor. Pizza was better than Venice or Florence!!

By Gypsygirl1 |

This was part of a birthday trip with my husband in May. We stayed in Brooklyn to experience a more 'local' NYC and walking over to Saraghina was one of the highlights. It was busy for a weeknight but we got seats at the bar quickly and I had a Spritz --which I often drank in Munich and Venice as a Prosecco Aperol mixture but they used Casoni as the bitter liquor instead (a very good innovation). My husband had the Peroni but it was a hard choice because they had a well-chosen range of German beers, too. For food, it was late so we kept it simple with rosemary focaccia and then the classic margherita pizza. Perfect.

Highly recommended

By Mark L |

We arrived in Brooklyn after a 20 hour flight and were lucky enough to have this restaurant almost at our doorstep. The pizzas were amazing, accompanying salad with brussels sprouts and very attentive service. Given we were so hungry and tired but even so we could not fault this experience. Will definitely be back. Servings are generous so we had to take home w us and enjoy the next day.

Reccommended by our hosts. Definitely worth the walk out

By Brian H |

This was a meal before heading over the road to bar lunatico. A strong recommendation from our hosts led us to going and we were not disappointed. The dough was really good quality. All the meals were good quality and enough staff to serve efficiently.

Italian Quality standard

By pacho70 |

I was here with a friend and we really enjoyed the place and the quality of food. I needed a pizza after 7 days in nyc and this place was a few blocks from where I was staying in bedstuy. Pizza is Italian standard quality ... pasta looks very good but I did not try it. Octopus was just great. There are few influences in the menu like the artichoke salad which comes dressed in a strange sauce while in Italy it would probabile come with our Any sauce... but it was good and we are in brooklyn after all . I guess the place once was a garage it also has some features of an hosteria like glasses and caraffe. Located in the bedstuy area which is rapidly becoming a better place.. It deserves a visit.

Yummy pizza and Italian food

By Kirsten L |

We ate here on our first night in Brooklyn. It is a funky, little Italian joint which is an up and coming restaurant. We had pizza and it was delicious. There is a good wine selection and lots of really good appetizers and the price is quite reasonable.

Nice place for breakfast, lunch, brunch. Also bakery.

By Mario_Rio_Brasil |

Very decent place, recommend by our NY host. We've been there for a lunch and have returned for a brunch (yummy!). Everything was delicious, pleasant music, nice and soothing ambience. They also have an amazing bakery the next door. Breakfast until 12pm, check availability for brunch.

Well below average

Perhaps they had a bad evening but can’t quite understand the good reviews. Pizza and pasta placed on the table within about 4 mins of ordering Soggy pizza with acidic watery tomato base Pasta undercooked ( I like the harder side of al dente btw) with acidic tomato sauce Tiramisu ( if you can call it that) of whipped cheap ice cream type thing. Very poor service.. well There wasn’t any

Tasty pizza!

By displaycase |

The fall pizza’s flavor is very clean but good. I love sourdough and wood fired crust. The fennel salad is very crisp and fresh. And the ricotta blueberry pancakes are great for sharing. Not too sweet and a little tart. I enjoyed all the food we ordered very much. The space is very cozy. The bakery next door is a must stop.

Wood fired pizza

By KalleHelsinki |

This place is reputable coz wood fired pizzas. Cozy athmosphere. Service was a bit slow, although the place was half empty. Our orders took almost 30 mins before served. Pizza was good but not amazing. Currently (end of May2017) rest rooms are under construction, only one single booth availabe! Must be long lines on Friday - Saturday nights... 60s-70s led-zeppelin-style -rock played pretty loudly all the time.

Disappointing

By Maria W |

Food was mostly good especially the pasta - but the pizza was disappointing. It was our last night in New York and we stopped here but wish we hadn’t. Pizza had a soggy bottom/crust - couldn’t eat it.

Ok food

By lynnalynna |

The food was ok, but the portions were not very large. I was still hungry after the fish and my husband's pizza was just enough. We really can't recommend the chocolate mousse - both texture and taste weren't very good. All in all an ok dinner for quite a bit of money...

Amazing food

By Maria |

While visiting New York and have been reccommended to take dinner at Saraghina, as it very close to our place in Brooklyn. It seems to be an italian/spanish restaurant. We ordered a margherita’s pizza and a grilled octopus. The margherita was great, very loyal to the authentic pizza from Naples. The grilled octopus was delicious! The restaurant has a nice and cozy bar area too. It is good to go as a couple or with friends. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, the service is fast. We loved it, so I definitely reccommend it!

Cozy, Fun, Busy Place

By TrippinOutofTown |

Walking down the street, we saw. Sign that said “Bar,” so we went in. Turned out to be the Tapas Bar of Saraghina. Had some Manchego Capicola and a glass of wine for happy hour and came back three hours later for Prosciutto y Fungi pizza, grilled octopus and a salad of yellow beets and blood oranges. No complaints.

small portions and not smiling personal

By Tatyana O |

rather tasty but why so little portions? why so serious? dirty restroom, that what I allways don't like. they need something to change!

mehhhh...

By tedjasukmana |

I think this is a great place to enjoy company and have a beverage.. but not a location to come just for food.. Burger came under cooked.. and they took it back ... we got the same burger a little bit later with an apology... and cold french fries. My Jamaican Salad had mangoes in it but they were bruised and brown which might have been because they were mixed with grilled chicken .. but the salad was incredibly incredibly wet with water and really lost it's flavor... (glad they washed my lettuce tho!)

Great cocktails and pizza! Try the gin and tonic.

By T G |

The place was bustling for a Wednesday night and there was a bit of a wait for a table. We waited in the tapas bar where I had the best gin and tonic ever! We chatted with one of the staff who was appropriately friendly. In the dining area, other reviewers are right that the place is cozy (they fit us in pretty tight), but everyone was having a good time so it did not matter much to us. Loved the pizza so much, we had dinner there a second time during our stay.

Little gem

By David R |

Our New York accomodation was nearby in an edgy brownstone area with few eating choices. This place was a little haven. Great ambience, good food and drinks. After a hard day tramping around Manhattan we did not want to travel far so this place was just what we needed.

Another Treasure in Brooklyn

By Geoff A |

While visiting New York I based myself in Brooklyn (Bedford-Stuyvesant) for 3 weeks. For me this was the real NY and being able to enjoy good coffee, bread, pastries and service made my visit even more memorable. I strongly recommend the crusty breads! While the bakery was a favorite I can also recommend the pizza restaurant and bar. Always busy with locals.

Great Meal in the Garden Area

By StreetPretzel |

We had a wonderful dinner at Saraghina. The atmosphere outside was wonderful. Service was not rushed. The house wine was affordable and tasty. The antipasto was well done and the pizzas were delicious.

Bravo! This place is a little gem!

By Vincent G v |

Saraghina consist of a Bakery, a restaurant and a Tapas-bar. That is ambitious. The bakery supplies the neighborhood Bedford-Stuyvesant. And what great suppliers they are! The bread, the pastries, the selection of olive-oil (they sell bottles to be refilled), the excellent selection of cheeses. Not to forget the excellent Coffee. During lunchtime they also prepare small Brioches with ham and (daily changing) Panini. On top of that one can buy fresh pastas (a daily special as well) and worth a specific mention: fantastic Raviolis. Pizza-dough is available as well. The bakery also supplies the restaurant, with such high quality pastries, bread and dough that is a perfect choice. The menu consists of simple dishes that recall the very best home-cooking! Full of flavor and always fresh. The Sandwiches are wonderful, a stand out is the Panini Saraghina. The Pizza Marinara is one of my favorites, salted with Anchovies and a wonderful crust. The House burger comes with caramelized onions on a toasted bun. Cooked to your liking and: accurately done. The side salads on the plates are (very)similar and usually have Watercress, freshly sliced Radish and another variety of greens. A shout out for these dishes: Sale E Rosmarino Foccacia and a Fava Bean Puree. A plain Pizza-dough crust with Garlic and fresh Rosemary and a wonderful Fava been puree. What a treat! The Tapas bar serves excellent small dishes. The Charcuterie is of good quality but too thinly sliced. Good cheeses. Try the roasted Shishito peppers! All served by lovely personnel!! BRAVO.

Delicious pizza

By BethP260 |

Stopped in with a couple friends and ordered a couple pizzas. The dough is light and they have a great variety of toppings. Everything was absolutely delicious so much so that I couldn’t bear to throw it out so I ended up taking my leftovers home on the plane

Yeay for food Nah for the staff.

By Dmitri K |

Excellent brunch, really tasty food. Great menu. Pricey! On the other hand, the restaurant strives to be extra special hip: how many un-sanded and unpolished boards and chairs stained with melted wax do you need to get any hipper? The fake smile turn sour look on the faces of bartenders and Maitre D seem a bit too theatrical. So does the ostentatious boorishness of the waiters: see if we care - seems to be the image. Of all the waiters, only one appears nice. It seems that they are a bit over-playing the hipsterness of Brooklyn. But then again, the food is really good. The bakery is around the corner, and it bears the same name. You cannot, however, get pastries from the bakery at the restaurant.

Wonderful restaurant, bakery alike, amazing.

By gillian p |

Had a great meal seated at the bar of this restaurant, only because we didn’t want to wait for a table. The place was packed to the rafters, great atmosphere. We didn’t wait too long for our food either, which was great. Would certainly return.

Nice Italian restaurant

By piet Lev |

Came late at ~10pm with my family of four. They are open until 11pm. Guestroom is rather small but has a very informal, nice atmosphere. Menu offers a fine selection of Pizza, starters, and mains, all with an individual signature. Offered tasty special beer on draft. Service was always quick and friendly but not too persistent. Reasonably priced. "Cash only"

Pizza!

By Tina Belmond |

If you live in BK you have lots of options for pizza, so means a lot to choose one as the best, and I think so far, Saraghina is it... the white sauce pizzas are the best i believe, but i go through seasons and cravings so its constantly changing... all of them are fantastic.

I visited a couple of times once for breakfast and once for a quick lunch. The breakfast was good and the lunch was really good. The cocktails were excellent, the bar tender recommended the Old Cuban and it was one of the best cocktails I've had in a while.

Good food, intersting facillity

Went there on the recommendation of our Air BNB host, it was very good. Seemed expensive, but this was our first meal in the city and after a few days it became obvious that my idea of prices was not in tune with the realities of the Big City! Good "new age" pizzas, and the pasta dishes were wonderful -- the sauces were good, but the homemade pasta was what was amazing, and they did a great job of not smothering the pasta flavor, but complementing it. Good drinks and desserts. I understand they also run their own bakery (we saw their bread a couple of other places) so that's good!

a gem

This is my local and I could not be happier to have this around the block. It's a super warm and inviting space, the staff are friendly and of course most importantly the food is quality. It's in the top five pizza places in New York for me, Neapolitan style. Super funky little bar on one side of the restaurant which is nice to hang at. Also of course their bakery next door, which is another story. Anyway, Saraghina is a GEM!

Italian Food

Have been wanting to try this place the last two times in Brooklyn, this third trip was the charm! I lived in Italy for 8 years and a friend who has also traveled extensively there suggested this place for it's authenticity. The pizzas are perfect. We also had an appealing appetizer of Fava Puree with Chicory greens that was great.

Drink there if you support a fee giveaway

Once upon a time, "little Saraghina" begin in an African American working and low income class community, Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York. Guess what, she grow up. She has several other restaurants in Brooklyn and a high-end bakery around the corner from this Bedford Stuyvesant restaurant. Along with the high renters who have displaced and pushed out long time residences from the community is now placing credit card fees on the bill. What a "low life- sleazy" way of doing business. Furthermore, she has no care about giving back but taking hard working customers' money for fees which we all know cash is soon to be obsolete.

tasty but small portions and surly staff

my husband and I do not understand why this place has a high rating. the waiters were not friendly, not caring - not typical for Brooklyn, all the portions are small - not typical for New York. Delicious pizza Naples, but be prepared that the really small portions.

Great Atmosphere, Decent Food, Consistently Terrible Service

By Daniel C |

I’ve been going to Saraghina for a few years now, the restaurant itself with it’s fantastic patio and (while overpriced) pretty solid menu options. The pizzas are delicious and the fried chicken sandwich was absolutely phenomenal. But this restaurant has the most consistent bad service I’ve ever seen. I’m not sure if this is an issue with understaffing or not properly training staff, but I have always had issues with simple things like having my card out on the table for over 20 minutes before I had to bring my card up to the bar to pay my bill. My most recent trip took the cake. I went in with three friends for brunch and we sat at the bar. It was very busy at the time so I was forgiving that it took 15/20 minutes for the bartender to even acknowledge us sitting directly in front of her, but when another employee had to check in with us for a drink order because he could tell we were being outright ignored I started to lose a little faith. Eventually she took our food orders (which came out before we got our drinks, two beers and two three ingredient cocktails) and just genuinely seemed disinterested in giving any attention to her 6 customers at the bar. I keep coming for the ambiance and food, but each time I’m reminded that the entire experience suffers from the service. It’s a shame.

perfect in every way - the best pizza we had in the USA

By filsfieryfurnace |

we were visiting from the UK. We know pizza - we have a pizza business in London. We know italian food - we have an italian food business in London. This place - the pizza, the menu, the service - was top class. achingly expensive - the pound is in the crapper - but c'est la vie...!

Average food at high prices

Over priced for just ok food. My boyfriend and I went there because it the best rated yelp pizza place near my apartment. The calamari was over cook and it was fried. The bean salad was fun and delicious. The pizza was just ok. The service was not so good. The server was nice, but not very attentive. When the bill came, I was a bit surprised. We had one ice tea, one lemonade, split a salad, split an appetizer, and split a pizza. No alcohol and our bill was still over $50. If the food was amazing, i'd do it again. It was just mediocre. Woodfired pizza with a bunch of fancy toppings you can't get elsewhere, but with weird combos.

Great atmosphere in this not easy to find restaurant in Brooklyn. We had pizzas all three of us, and one of the best I have ever tasted. Recommended!

We returned to this venue for a family meal recently. Once again the bustling restaurant was humming with customer conversations. We enjoyed superb food in a friendly well staffed restaurant. I would highly recommend this premises
