Best Deli in the Midwest

By Jeffrey S |

The best deli in the Midwest. Another thing they have the best hot pastrami sandwich in the Midwest . Also they have good matzah ball ⚽️ soup 🍲. Lastly, the people who work here are very nice .

For Jewish deli lovers!

After visiting wonderful Richard Dreihaus’s museum we walked to the nearly Schneider’s Deli in pouring rain, so we really needed some good comfort food. Our late lunch was a real treat as we are great fans of Jewish delis. We had pastrami sandwich on challah bread and corned beef sandwich on multigrain bread (we shared both). And of course, I added two cups of matzo ball soup to warm up. The meals were so delicious they reminded me of my childhood

New Neighborhood Gem

By nskaye |

New place that opened August 31st and worth the visit. This will become a neighborhood gem with regulars very quickly. Everything is fresh, spotless, and the nicest people ever. Jake, the owner, was there and working. Home made corned beef sliced thick but perfectly lean and properly salted was superb. Fresh bagels (everything egg bagel) was almost too fresh. Dr. Brown's Cherry to go with it all. Life is good.

Lovely fresh food and coffees

Lovely little Deli in Chicago. Good service and lovely fresh food. No complaints, will definitely be going back as looking forward to trying different bagels and sandwiches (maybe even the soup).

Delicious Deli!!

Thank you for bringing absolutely delicious deli food to Chicago!! I’ve only been once so far, but I tried several items. The corned beef and pastrami are fantastic! The matzo balls are better than mine and so flavorful! The whitefish salad spread is light and not too heavy on the smoke. The rye bread is also very delicious and the chocolate coffee cake is yummy!! We will be back!!

Best corned beef!

We were looking for a deli and we found the perfect spot! I had a corned beef sandwich and my wife had a turkey BLT. The rye bread was perfect.

Staying in the hotel next door and stopped off here for breakfast on the first morning and were so impressed we went back every morning. The food was fantastic and the service brilliant. Can't recommend it high enough. Can get busy which is testimony to their high standards. Thanks guys for your superb service and will definitely see you the next time we are in Chicago. Cheers Rich

New kid on the block

A gem of a place, serving classic Jewish deli fare, including white fish. It gets busy at times, so it looks like locals are taking to it, and rightly so.

Nice little deli in River North.

Visited for breakfast, nice little deli and definitely worth a visit. Does get busy and there is only limited seating available. Nice food.

Breakfast lunch and catering, they do it all

The breakfast sandwiches are outrageous. The traditional lies can’t be beat. And just this week I had them cater a brunch for 50 friends. They did not disappoint!

Hot new local deli!!

Not sure how long this place has been here, it wasn't even on Google maps yet. Small deli, line was out the door when I went.. bustling place open from 7-2 for breakfast and lunch. I had a fantastic pastrami sandwich!

Delicious bagels and more!

Delicious chewy bagels, great coffee and friendly staff. There’s seating inside or you can buy your order to-go. A really fun and tasty breakfast spot - we loved it here.

Overrated reputation

By Layth S |

This was a blind experience based on reading the reviews. I strongly believe this is what they called “overrated food place”; the food was bland, nothing special and actually was less than average. I ordered breakfast bagel with pastrami, this was below my expectations for a pastrami meat. Definitely it is not a return experience.

Newest Jewish delicatessen in Chicago

John and Ariel Schneider realized their life-long dream in 2023 when they opened Schneider Deli at 600 North La Salle Drive, between Ontario and Ohio, in the Ohio House Motel, in the River North neighborhood. Open for breakfast and lunch from 7 to 2 Monday through Thursday and 7 to 3 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it is a counter-serve Jewish deli with 21 seats that serves such staples as bagels, lox, matzo ball soup and corned beef, pastrami and oven roasted turkey sandwiches. I recommend breakfast with two scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage links and toast. Lunch is a corned beef or oven roasted turkey sandwich with coleslaw, chips, dill pickle and lemonade. Yes, it is one of the busiest areas in the city for traffic (coming from and going to the expressway) but the Schneiders offer reserved parking for customers.
