Make sure you leave room for dessert. Fluffernutter and Zeppole both outstanding. Rice ball is also excellent.

Came here as a family of three for Valentines Dinner. Had a reservation for 6pm on the patio. Great ambiance with heaters in a high ceiling tent. You can hear the traffic on Washington Blvd but itâs not too distracting. Service was great from start to finish as expected for a high end place. Very friendly but not stuffy. Our waitress made great suggestions. We told her we wanted to eat family style and share. Started with a Negroni Bianco, Martini and a lemonade. Shared three appetizers that were all outstanding: Amberjack crudo ($17) Burrata and beets ($19) Rice ball ($20) Then split two pastas: Lasagna ($27) Pappardelle ($27) Main was the 24 oz. T-Bone at $70 was a splurge but incredible. Added in a great Sardinian wine and the desserts of gelato, panna cotta and zeppolle. Expensive coming in at just over $300 before tax and tip but worth it for the great experience, service and food. Valet parking is a must die to lack of street parking for $11 before tip.

Very trendy, hip establishment. We were unfortunate to be sat near the door which has no lobby & opens directly onto the street, a wee bit cold & breezy during our visit. Atmosphere is buzzing, a little dark & noisy, but then I'd probably have appreciated it more ten years ago in my younger days. Food was excellent and after dinner bar service was very attentive. Only downside was our 'cool as Fonzie' waiter who made us feel that we should be thankful to have him as our server. Everything seemed to be just a little too much trouble for him. But, dwelling on the positives, I would recommend & certainly go back next time in LA.

Another great meal- the meatballs are a âmust orderâ. Our table had the Italian Chop, lasagna and the stuffed blossoms. Make reservations- this place fills up even without the restaurant name anywhere to be found.

Fantastic Italian food and superb wine. Taylor is an exceptional wine expert and picked out a lovely wine to go with an exceptional dinner.

Modern Italian spot in Venice with dark, moody vibes. Street parking along Washington or in one of the residential neighborhoods. Credit cards accepted. Reservations accepted. Indoor and outdoor dining available. Gendered restaurants available in the back. Thereâs bar seating as well. Itâs a good spot for a date night or to have a nice meal with the fam. I came here per the recommendation of a former colleague, who called this restaurant his favorite in the West side. Definitely get the squid ink calamari. The ink adds an extra level of saltiness, but itâs not overbearing. The meat was soft in the inside and the batter was lightly crispy. The pastas we ordered were all on the smaller side, but the pastasâ textures were top-notch. The rigatoni was my favorite, with a red creamy sauce. The cavatelli had Italian sausage and my dad really liked it. The linguini with clams was garlicky and also very creamy. The lasagne is a very heavy option, and youâre likely to have leftovers for this particular dish.

My husband and I enjoyed an awesome meal at Scopa. I am still thinking about the Bucatini and fired calamari with squid ink. Our server Carlo was attentive and super friendly. Here are some tips: - Make a reservation. Our reservation was at 5:45 pm, which we thought was too early. But this place fills up quick. You could probably find a seat at the bar if you get there by 5:30pm. - Scopa is NOISY - I mean really noisy. It probably wouldn't have been so bad if a group of really drunk men weren't sitting behind us. It would have been nice if the manager had asked them to take the volume down a notch. If you are looking for a quiet romantic dinner, this is not your place. - Share everything so you can order more! We ordered 2 appetizers, the bucatini as the pasta course and shared the whole branzino. YUM! Everything was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully.

Scopa provided awesome customer service, great desert and wine! The atmosphere is very fun and friendly! Great place for friends, business, and dates!

We sat at the bar and order a few drinks and food. Everything was delicious!!! The bar tender was amazing and suggested some really nica and different drinks. We had a lot of fun!

Have had brunch and dinner here and both times WOW took a while to get a booking but well worth the wait , the calamari and deep fried cauliflower are sublime !

What is most important for a restaurant is the way it feels, not looks. When I walked into Scopa, I felt comfortable and buoyant. It was around 6:00 and not crowded, but the bar was getting full. There was energetic music playing, but it did not overwhelm conversation. I loved the use of brick and wood and leather banquettes. Reminded me of Officina Brera downtown which I love. We were seated as far away from the speakers as we could be which is by the window. Great table. Could see everyone coming and going yet could talk without having to scream. We were very happy. Our waiter was a doll. Extremely attentive and knowledgeable. Unfailingly courteous, but with a roguish look in his eye. Adorable. The food was just perfect. We started out with the Eggplant Caponata which was fabulously delicious and required our using much bread ,yum, and the scallops (two giant ones perfectly cooked) Then I had the whole branzino which came with broccolini. Do not be afraid that it will be too much. It is a very small branzino. :-)) I got some polenta on the side. It was very soft and runny and delicious. My friend had the Italian salad and loved it. Then we both split a Chocolate panna cotta for desert. Like a very rich chocolate pudding. We did not feel rushed. Had time between courses. Everything was perfectly timed as our waiter knew just when to put in our entree orders. A real pleasure. Full bar, valet parking in their own lot, gluten free bread and pasta. Will not bankrupt you, but it isn't cheap either. Very casual, but I would call it fine dining none the less as it is. Lots of young people on dates. I would go back again and again. Had a wonderful time.!!

Three of us had dinner on January 29. It was excellent. We started with the best fresh broccoli salad. All three of us were able to share as the salad is large. I started with the the scallops that were cooked perfectly. Then the lasagna and it was the best I have had. It is really good and better than served in fine restaurants in Rome Florance and Vienna. There is a very good wine list, both domestic and international. Ask for a recommendation. Service is excellent and timely. They seem to anticipate your needs. Highly recommended and we will return several times

This restaurant has a nice atmosphere for dinning⊠the food was wonderful with great choices and great flavors..We tried the Squash Blossoms they were delicious..also had the fried cauliflower i loved itâŠWe also had the lobster ravioli and Roasted chicken.. everything was delicious⊠highly recommend this place⊠the tiramisu was not the usual made tiramisu⊠i would skip that if you love traditional TiramisuâŠ

I was here for an 8-person meal with coworkers. Because of the size of the group, we had to order ahead, which worked out just fine! My colleagues loved the calamari (I don't eat fish). I loved the pastas and delicious veggie sides. The donuts for dessert were tremendous, but I didn't much care for the fluffernutter. I also liked the warm atmosphere with cozy dim lights.

Despite Scopa calling itself and Italian restaurant, the blintzes were the best I've ever had on either coast! Service was a bit slow even though it wasn't crowded. Worth a visit for the food

Loved the Scopa brunch! Brunch is my favorite meal of the week and having a cache of good places to go is critical. Scopa has been added to my list. Not only are some of the regular favorites on the menu - the fried cauliflower, butter lettuce salad, to name a few, but there is a wonderful coffee cake and great eggs to enjoy, too. I loved my egg breakfast sandwich with perfectly crispy bacon. The bread was so fresh and it was not greasy at all. Plus, it was easier to get a table then it is for dinner...

Dinner for us cost nearly $100/per. For pasta and fish? Seems a bit high. The room seems not to quite know what it wants to be... a pizza place, or an expensive restaurant. Bar is nice looking, but the bar-like tables are spread all around. Same for the booths. The menu is printed as if it were a pizza place. And the descriptions are not specific enough for one to really know what one is ordering.

We loved the look of this restaurant, and really loved the vibe here. The best part was the delicious and unique food. A must eat place when in Marina Del Ray.

My wife and I had a late dinner at Scopa two weeks ago on our trip to LA after a taping at CBS Television City. We had read about Scopa in an LA Magazine article listing the 16 best Italian restaurants in Los Angeles. We got to Scopa after 8 pm, put our name on the wait list, and sat at the bar. Before long, we took our name off the list and decided to eat at the bar. Aaron was so entertaining and full of information, we just didn't want to sit anywhere else. The lasagna and maccheroni were both delicious and just the right size. We'll be back in January. Thank you, Aaron. We had a great night. LA Magazine was right!

Iâve been going to Scopa for years and the food is just as delicious today as it was years ago. The restaurant is consistent, has incredible service (everything from reservations to dining was flawless), and serve delicious food. Some favorites are the rice ball, cacio e pepe, branzino, ricotta crostini, chicken Parmesan! I will continue to recommend this restaurant to friends for many years to come!

We visited Scopa on the recommendation of someone at our hotel and we were blown away by the experience. The seafood, and pasta as well as wine selections our waiter helped with were perfection!! We canât wait to go back again.

The appetizers were amazing and my cousin ordered the vodka pasta and I ordered the noodles with pepper and cheese it was so unbelievably amazing

Finally had a chance to try this place. We were there on a Tuesday night with no reservation so sat at a communal table in the bar area. Iâm typically not fond of this but the table is actually set and they space people out so the experience wasnât terribly different than sitting at a table. Service was exceptional. Food was great with most dishes worth repeating. The calamari was amazing - squid ink tempura batter and so delicate. The rice ball was also amazing- crunchy rice on the outside, soft on the inside with a great sauce. Steak tartar was also good though Heirloom tomato salad was just okay. We ordered a pasta to share-chittara-not sure I would get that again. On a repeat visit I would probably stick with the antipasti and leave room for dessert which we were unable to try.

Don't buy into the hype for this place; great ambiance and above-average tastiness but portions were on the small side, especially for the price. The bill will be high but you might leave hungry. If what's important is sitting among the cool crowd to see and be seen, be my guest, but if you're actually hungry and looking for value, keep looking.

While visiting LA, my family and I dined at Scopa as we stayed nearby. We made a reservation for Saturday night dinner in advance for the early seating. The place filled super fast, so I was glad to have arrived early. WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED everything we ordered! The cocktails are gorgeous! Huge selection of spirits but small wine list. The service was completely attentive and made great recommendations for our menu selections. Fried Calamari with Squid Link and Rice Ball were devoured. The ricotta stuffed squash blossoms were truly a standout - still thinking about them! For simply beautiful pasta, the Chitarra was amazing with pecorino and black pepper on fresh housemade pasta. My son and husband both had the Lasagnette with Braised Rabbit. Once again, truly special all-day stewed complex flavor with homemade pasta. We spent two weeks in Italy last fall, and Scopa's food was as good if not better than some of the best Italian restaurants. Can't wait to visit LA again and go back!

Heard about this place off eater.com as a top spot around LA. Went on a Tuesday early evening, place was still pretty full. Very spacious restaurant with a very cool looking bar. It's almost floor to ceiling and lit really well. And the bar is huge, plenty of room to sit. As for food, the rice ball appetizer is a must. The brussel sprout salad was fantastic and the rigatoni ala vodka was delicious. Everything we ate was really well made. Highlight recommend this place!

When you call to make a reservation in advance the voice message tells you to leave your information and your requested time and date. This is what I did, two days in advance to coming in. I called the day of to double check that I had a reservation only to find out that I did not...and that there weren't any available reservations until much later in the evening. After a long and what I thought to be respectful conversation began the hostess admitted that they have been having a lot of voicemails and that they honestly just didn't go through all of them. 0 effort was made to really apologize in any way or recognize that maybe that isn't the best system for taking reservations. It was a MASSIVE bummer since it was my husbands 30th BIRTHDAY and a WEEKEND day so I wasn't able to find a comparable restaurant that wasn't booked. So I wore my nice ass dress and heels to eat dumplings from, they were great. But damn, how SCOPA handled the situation was pretty UNCOOL for an upscale restaurant. Can I suggest you change your reservation system? The hostess recommended other restaurants in town...thats what I got, recommendations to OTHER restaurants, thanks Google.

While staying in Marina Del Rey for a few nights we made reservations to come here for dinner⊠the menu looked amazing and the reviews are excellent, so it was an easy choice. Once there we loved the vibe and dĂ©cor! Service was excellent too, the Somm working was very helpful and got us a great bottle, which we really enjoyed. We tried a few things and enjoyed each of them. The Scallops Oreganata were incredible, with a crust on top and the butter to highlight their perfect cooking temp! The Raw Brussels Sprouts was incredible! The brussels were shredded and the grapes added a nice, slightly sweet compliment to the saladâs vinaigrette!! Each course was just as good and we stayed for entrĂ©es and dessert too. Weâll definitely return and we would highly recommend stopping in, but make reservations first, this place got absolutely packed!

Phenomenal ambiance, menu selection vast as were the drinks! Each dish was mouth watering. The truffle pasta probably just topped the wild mushroom pasta. Service was fast & attentive

We were in Marina Del Rey for two days and chose Scopa Italuan Roots for Black Friday dinner. The Concierge team at Ritz Carlton arranged for a Chef's Table. We were very excited for this and were very disappointed to find the Chef's Table is basically two seats at the end of the bar. My wife has a back issue and sitting 90 minutes on a barstool with no real back support is a no go. We declined the bar seats and were seated in a very small two top between 2 four tops. No way we would have been able to have a conversation with one another trying to talk over eight people. You are probably wondering why I gave 5 stars when this started so poorly. The answer is that Isa (I believe she was front of house manager) and Cory, an amazing server, turned around our night. Isa manages to put us in a quiet window seat and Cory took amazing care of us. We started with a couple cocktails, and I loved the Passionfruit Margarita so much I had 2. My better half enjoyed "The West Side" and she said it was "Herby". The Rice Ball we shared is a thing to behold. So crispy, the inide so full and delicious. The Paperdelle in lamb meat sauce was out of this world. My wife had the linguini and clams and she said this was perfect. For dessert, she had the Zeoplini and I devoured the Cherry Almond sundae (Cory had me at cherry gelato). The Salted whipped cream was awesome. Despite the hiccup at the beginning, this was a fabulous meal. We are fans of Chef Antiona, we were so looking forward to this meal, and somehow they vastly exceeded our already high expectations. Thanks to Isa, Cory and the entire Scopa Team for an unforgettable experience.

Lovely place with good food and drinks. The attendance was awesome... A beautiful restaurant with a great menu.

We had dinner here with family and friends. A great night! Both food and service were excellent. Would return.

Came in with a group of twenty eight for a corporate dinner on a Monday night. Dreading mundane basic fixed menu. Amazing dinner. Harry's beefsteak tomatoes to die for. Baby beats with Burrata incredible. Kale salad with a citrus dressing was perfection. Bronzino beautiful. Service was tremendous. Loved this place.

SCOPA has a nice ambiance, but after going here with friends for brunch I was somewhat surprised to read the glowing reviews. While the food was ok, it was not exceptional, service was so-so and the corkage fee was amazingly high. I was also very surprised that a bar / restaurant of this size and in this neighborhood lacked a cappuccino/espresso machine. Perhaps I should give it another try when next in the area...But, with new places popping up weekly it is hard to return when disappointed.

A real show stopper and I am Italian skeptic if not on east coast. Pasta was al dente with a perfect amount of chew. Sauce was sweet, creamy and plenty of it. Meatballs were delicate and could be cut with spoon. Tiramisu was more soaked then I am use to but had pronounce coffee flavor that I enjoyed. Prices were great for being in playa Del Mar or anyway to be honest. Had a drink, oysters, pasta and desert all for $90. My own perfect tasting menu. Would highly recommend.

As visitors from out of town we so enjoyed everything about this restaurant! The atmosphere is very fun and trendy and we loved the bar and long tables. Our server was excellent and very helpful in selecting our dishes. We started with the tomatoes, onion and ricotta salata with the grilled bread. The tomatoes were amazing! The portions are a good size, the lasagna was a very generous serving. The chicken entree with the creamy polenta and kale was very good. I will look forward to coming back this restaurant when we stay in the Santa Monica area again!

A very enjoyable evening. Servers, bartenders, hosts were all very welcoming and enjoyable. Food was amazing. Somm gave us a great selection. If I were a local this would be my go to place!

Wow, Scopa is a really good restaurant everything from food, service to ambiance. It's a little loud if you're trying to enjoy a quiet dinner. It's also on the pricy side. Everything we had was perfect. The squid ink calamari is probably one of the best calamari's I've ever had! We also ordered the whole branzino. I was a little disappointed that they didn't debone the fish for us, but otherwise it was perfect. I was initially disappointed that they did not have my scotch of choice, but they brought me the alcohol menu and it was one of the most extensive collections of whisky I have ever seen. Very impressive.

Really greatl Brussels sprout salad, Fra Diavlo and pastas. You really can't go wrong here. It's not very kid friendly so if you have them, make an early reservation. It's a great find for the area.

After struggling to find a place that could accommodate our group last minute, we ended up at Scopa for a rather late meal. The atmosphere was great. It was crowded but the decor and the bar were hip and trendy. The portions were small but delectable. The squid ink calamari appetizer was the best I'd ever had - it melted in your mouth. The pasta dishes were really good, and you could tell the pasta itself was hand-made right there in the restaurant. The wine selection was good and we enjoyed some Rosé. Our last dinner of our trip to California was well-spent at Scopa!

I recently enjoyed some bar snacks and drinks here. What a fun place with a very hip vibe. If you don't like a lively bar, this is not your place, but we like exciting places with good music and fun people. Mishka the bartender and his assistant Gus couldn't have been nicer and helpful. Mishka took the time to explain his favorite menu items. Unfortunately, we were unable to return for dinner as we had hoped, but we will definitely return to this place. My husband even says he'll drive down for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Can't wait to get back to this place.

Scopa is always a great go to spot. The food is amazing, and the staff is very welcoming. Love everything about it!

My wife and I were in Marina Del Rey staying at the Ritz. This wonderful Italian Restaurant is only @ a mile from the hotel, if that. The food was authentic fresh and tasty. I had the Veal Chop and it was magnificent. The friends we were with knew one of the owners, Pablo, He visited our table often to ensure we were happy and having a wonderful time. As a bonus we were lucky enough to share some rare bourbons together. What a wonderful time. I can't tell you the last time I closed a restaurant. lol The food, ambiance and service were top notch! What an unforgettable dinner/night!

Found by chance walking in Venice beach, we were really pleased, the place is very nice, elegant, romantic and spotless. The staff very friendly and helpful, traditional Italian dishes and pizzas, good quality. The prices are in line with those of Las Vegas, but the quality is really high. We spent a wonderful evening in a really lovely place. Recommendation a visit.

Owned by " Iron Chef " alum Antonia Lofaso, this has become one of my regular Boites. Warning: This joint gets loud. Good tunes but a bit loud, great libations, and the service is spot on without being fussy. It's a casual spot where I've seen guys in shorts and tanks sidle up to the bar with the guys with the button downs. The kitchen does shine with apps for one or larger apps to share. The entrees are meant for a family style meal. One night our party of six enjoyed the organic tomatoes w/ burrata, the T-bone steak, and a whole branzino, a simple rigatoni, accompanied by an assortment of grilled veggies. It was amazing!

Place was packed so the high prices do not seem to deter diners. The pastas are excellent but small portions for the price. Very noisy.

We had dinner here with family who live in Los Angeles. They had been here before and wanted us to experience the food and service. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent. We shared several Italian dishes amongst are party of six. Service was excellent. It was a busy night for the restaurant and yet, they were able to provide quality service.

Best Italian ambiance and Italian food and best service in Los Angeles in the Venice/Santa Monica area

This place is as amazing as it's reputation! The waiters are very nice and helpful. Cool atmosphere and people of all ages came to dine or just have a few drinks. We where very pleased with Scopa!

nice hip spot for good Italian pasta. place was busy for Thursday night before Labor Day. waiter was friendly and had many suggestions. first time at the restaurant so waiter did explain portions were smaller. so we weren't sure how much to order . pasta was good and rice ball was special! prices were on the higher side.

I had an amazing time at Scopa. The host made and exception and accommodated a large group of mine when it didnât seem possible on a busy night/ st Patrickâs day. The food was beyond amazing I canât really say what my favorite dish was between The truffle egg, The clam Linguine or The mushroom pasta. Almost every dish we ordered id rate a five out of five. And I would strongly recommend bringing your friends and family here.

Absolutely an amazing dinner tonight, 22 of us for a business dinner, selected menu, family style, used the upstairs PDR (private dining room). Ricotta and crostini Raw brussel sprouts salad Fried cauliflower Scallops oreganata Meatballs Lasagne Rigatoni pasta - vodka sauce, chili, basil T-bone steak Roasted chicken Dessert- Italian donuts and ricotta cheesecake Amazing!!!! 5 stars

We ate at Scopa on our way to the fireworks. It is a busy & loud place. I could hear the entire conversation of the couple next to me because seating is so close. No intimacy. Food is excellent & waiters are nice & take good care of you. It's walking distance to the beach & bike path. If you are looking for a quieter, more intimate setting this id not for you. I don't recommend for business as everything you talk about is heard by the tables next to you. Great Italian cuisine in small portions but it is enough to fill u up. If you are a hardy eater, eating here could get expensive. Everything is good.

A nice room, furnished with taste but very little lighting. It was like eating in the dark !! The food was mediocre - Italian cuisine is a cousine where the raw material is enhanced, the dishes are cooked simply. What has been prpososed is totally different from the really Italian taste...probably the Italian roots have been lost

This place is very crowded and we were able to get in last minute because we were willing to go to dinner at 5:30 on a Friday night. We weren't the only people there! The atmosphere feels slightly upscale but fun. Great selection of cocktails and the Tokyo Sour was so good. We started out with oysters and rice balls - both great choices. We selected three different entrees to all share and nothing disappointed. I really loved the bucatini. And from the "after dinner" menu - you MUST try the fluffernutter. It's a completely different tasting dessert but delicious. The service was excellent. There are tables that can accommodate a larger group but no patio dining. Make your reservation in advance and try it!

coming from NY, i didn't expect to have good Italian food, BUT to my surprise, I was exceedingly pleased. Unique dishes and preparation. Great red sauces. Order a small plate per person, but the main entrees could be shared...

We had the shaved Brussels sprout salad (as recommended by our waiter) which was surprisingly tasty. Then we shared the the wild mushroom pasta with bread crumbs which was outstanding. The pasta in meat sauce with the arugula and burrata was good but there was too much arugula for my liking. The creamed polenta was decadent. The canollis were ok. It's a hip space with a very busy bar. Service was excellent. We'll go back to try the rest of the menu. Getting a reservation was tricky as I had to call and leave a message.

We enjoyed the family style. Our waitress was very knowledgeable on portion sizes, we had enough food for four of us and got to try a variety of dishes. Recommend the meatballs, Arancini and the rabbit ragu.

Scopa is great. Crowded, friendly, full of life. What looks to be a single but coupled crowd, the service is good, the food is great, and it's not overly expensive. It was a rainy night when I went, got there earlier than my intended other. In spite of the crowded bar, got my order in without any trouble, ready for when she arrived. We were told it would be an hour for a table seat, but we were seated within 15 minutes. All food was great. Anything with scamorza is going to work. Wine list is limited, but okay. Lighting in the room is comfortable and dim, making for intimacy in a crowded space. It works. Now if only people knew what Scopa implies (it's an italian euphemism).

We are happy to have Scopa in the neighborhood! Dinner is great even with a glitch from time to time, but at this level of awesome it's just working out a kink. Service is quick and seemingly effortless; Everyone is attentive without any hover or fuss. Plus the patrons are characters, so the people watching is just as fun as the food. Modern elixir cocktails are fantastic, however, classic cocktails... have to say that it's a little rough trade in the classics. Brunch is sooooooo good; please don't come. It's almost peaceful right now and the coffee gives me shivers. They've got the egg master back there perfectly crispy or poachy or what-ever makes you happy. Just don't eat all my blintzes, really... don't go there.

Very nice setting, supposedly great cocktails but didn't try them this time. Had a brunch with some friends in town, we all enjoyed out dishes. The frutatta was great, I had the Italian hero, delicious with great cured meats. Dishes aren't huge, might want to get a few things if you're a big eater. All around, great experience and will go again.

Visited Scopa in late Dec. 2016 during a visit to LA. Good points: - good food. - good service. Bad points: - noisy. Loud rap music during the whole dinner might be cool, but not great for conversations... - lighting too dark: thanks for the torch option on iPhones.đ The place might benefit from table-centered lighting. Would retain overall atmosphere and allow people to see what they eat.

My adult daughter and I had a great dinner and drinks at Scopa. We struggled to actually locate the restaurant, but once we handed off our keys to the valet, the fun began. We didn't have reservations, but put our name in for a community table. We were able to get seats at the bar, and were instantly taken care of by Mishka. Food. The shaved Brussels sprout salad- perfect, not bitter. I wish I could remember the pasta because it was so light and flavorful and creamy. Amazing chef. Drinks. Mishka was so passionate about crafting drinks and part of the fun of the night was the show he put on making the most amazing Old Fashioned (reminded me of my former favorite bar tender in NYC.) Vibe. Great people watching. Friendly people.

Amazing pastas. Perfectly prepared entrees. And an incredible bar selection. Scopa offers fun, and filling fare that is great for sharing and experiencing in a family-style manner. I love the high ceilings and beautiful mirrored back bar. It reminds me of Chicago with its expansive scale and solid furnishings. It can get crowded, so make a reservation for weekend dining.

Great bar scene. Excellent unusual Italian. Great pasta and whole fish. Meat dishes too big and not great. Very loud at night. Great for brunch. Much quieter. Best salmon this side of Gjelina.

Great find for dinner or bar scene! It's a trendy LA scene with a creative artsy looking wait staff. Extremely well prepared food in small share portions. Beautiful decor with exposed brick interior, warm dimmed lighting, wood tables both communal and booths. Good for adults but I did notice a few well behaved children dressed in holiday finery enjoying it as well. Located in an unmarked building so you need to know where you're going. Had reservations for 7:30 but still waited at bar for 20 minutes before our table opened up. Excellent cocktails, anyone we tried was made with expertise and tasted wonderful. Ate: FRIED CALAMARI in squid ink and lemon - outstanding! Best dish of the night. No sauce needed due to the flavor added by the black ink crust. Tender moist squid cooked to perfection. CRISPY SQUASH BLOSSOMS with ricotta, mozzarella, tomato, chili - very good. RAVIOLI - corn, mascarpone, parmesan added special black truffles but it didn't need those. Overall good LINGUINI - clams, butter, garlic, white wine, parsley - another favorite at the table For desserts: SPUMONI - pistachio, cherry, chocolate. Nice homemade fresh appeal AFFOGATO - vanilla gelato, espresso. Good but not special or unusual And drum roll please, the best dessert ever - FLUFFERNUTTER -peanut butter, marshmallow, banana. How they make this gooey concoction is beyond me but its incredibly light, tasty and melt in your mouth goodness. I think you get what you pay for here, a bit more pricey than mid range but the ingredients used are top quality so I expected to pay more. Not outrageously expensive tho. Service was spot on, food unusual and so good! The patrons seemed engrossed in their own table's conversations and laughter, chatter all around. Sharing the dishes with friends provides for that big family style appeal. You'll want to linger a little longer here Try it, you'll like it.

This place is so "cool" it doesn't have a sign. I suppose that's how you can tell :) Whatever. The food is excellent quality; we were glad we had gone for a late lunch rather than dinner because this place can get packed and there really isn't all that much seating in the restaurant. We had a nice, relaxing time - ordered the small plates family-style so they were like tapas. Plenty of choices for the two vegetarians in our group, with good seafood dishes as well. Try the squash blossoms!

Great space with cool decor and a hip vibe. Bar is really good with great selection. We shared two appetizers, chopped salad and fried calamari. Both were excellent. Fried calamari was unusual in that it fries black in color, I'm guessing from squid ink. Main courses were cavatelli with sausage (both made in house), chicken parm and sauteed broclitini. Everything was delicious.

We were staying at a hotel down the road and our dinner plans fell through, decided just to find a place down the street. Saw it from across the street and took a peek. A diner was leaving and just looked at us and said "Just eat here, trust me." So we wandered in, and luck would have it they had a table for us. We loved every bite. Beautiful and sophisticated interior, authentic and beautiful food made with fresh and delicious ingredients. A stand out was the stuffed squash blossoms drizzled with honey and the meatball appetizer. The wine list seemed good, but we just asked our server for a recommendation and it was super tasty. We left with that glow you have after a wonderful meal and feeling lucky to have found such a special place.

I am writing my very first review to any restaurant. I am an Italian from Rhode Island where we have wonderful Italian food and a pleuthera of squid dishes, which are delicious. BUT, I have to rave about Scopa's squid. A beautiful presentation of rings and tentacles that were seasoned perfectly and tender. The show stopper is the color of the squid, purple, because they use the squid ink, the star of the menu, in my estimation. Kudos to the chef who cooked our squid, also may I say our food was hot and not lukewarm. Lastly, you get a warm feeling with the brick walls and great bar, not your usual cold modern restaurant. I can't wait to go back to visit my son and suggest that we come back, because it was he who discovered Scopa because he is a fan of Antonia and it didn't disappoint us. A wonderful evening was had by all.

After you get over the size of the alcohol selection at the bar and order a cocktail here you cab take in the pleasant ambiance of the place. Genuine Italian spot and they know how to pronounce the names of the foods properly. Our food was good esp. the antipasti of meats. Steak and veal seem overpriced- $68 for a veal chop?! Our service was very patchy and our server for the night was a will-o-the-wisp. Try the Nero d'avola wine, when it eventually arrived it was worth it

Business dinner with out of town guests. Restaurant was a little too noisy for business, we even had an early seating. Food is dependably tasty and flavorful. Enjoyed all the small plates. The kale salad was just average. The pasta were the standout. Dessert was solid. Had an excellent bottle of 2006 wine at very good value. Restaurant has its own valet parking lot, which is a plus since parking in the neighborhood is generally a pain.

My first meal in LA on this trip, and one of the best! The impressive bar overlooks the entire restaurant. A dimly lit but very atmospheric dining experience and some of the best pasta I've ever eaten!

The food was amazing. We had the stuffed zucchini flowers with ricotta, black ink squid calamari and the T-Bone. The Sauvignon had some great pairings for our meal. Service was excellent, food was amazing and atmosphere was perfect. Great time. Not really a family restaurant for kids. Little more upscale and fashion trendy. A nice collard button shirt with nice jeans or dress pants is attire for men. Women shirt/dress.

Had a large group, family style dinner one night. First time here. Absolutely outstanding in every way. Every dish was prepared extremely well and more than enough for our large group. The charcuterie plate was one of the best i have ever had/seen. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Scopa is definitely one of the hip places in LA. The building and atmosphere are nice and the service very friendly. Between the 4 of us, we had 2 pasta dishes and 2 steaks. Everything was great, even the bread and olive oil serves while we were waiting for our main courses. Our server was courteous and quick and stayed on top of everything. No complaints at all through the 2 hours we were there. I would recommend Scopa for family dinners as well as dates for couples.

Went in with a buddy on a saturday night for drinks. Pretty busy, so best to make a reservation i realised. Hung out at the bar and had some great cocktails. Put my name down for a table which was a communal table and was fine. Calamari was tasty , so was the fish. Would definitely recommend best to book in advance.

Not too far from Vero/Muscle beach, you'll find Scopa. It stands out among the buildings around it and has a very nice vibe to it. Valet parking as well as self parking is available, and if you don't have a reservation you're going to need one. The decor and staff are top tier, and the food is the best Italian food you'll have recently eaten. Cocktails and bar area are nice too.

The tiny steak we had was overcooked - the chef did not think so. The pasta dish was gummy - we didn't even bother. Save your money - go somewhere else.

Super good dinner. This place is always packed. If you want to have dinner one night make sure you make a reservation. My friends and I came in late for a 10 pm reservation and had to wait till about 10:15 and they gave us a free appetizer because we had to wait. Has a really cool vibe and really great food. Waiters know which wine you should get according to what you order.

Perfect table/booth combo with view of the outstanding floor to ceiling bar. Fixed menu $65pp provided plenty of excellent dishes to share Calamari 9/10 unusual prep with black ink excellent. Very crisp- Eggplant parmigiana 8.7/10 no bread perfect flavor Maccheroni pasta 9/10 served hot and pasta cooked just right Italian cold cuts 8/10 plenty of qty great olives Steak tartare 7/10 thick chunks and to chewy. Flavor ok Branzino 6/10 taste was great but lots of bones. Yes, whole fish but usually bones are removed. This was dangerous. Steak 8/10 choice cut below, flavors decent, just ok Zeppole 10/10 light and flavorful Affogato 10/10 perfect texture and coffee flavor Great staff and room. Half the group enjoyed the speakeasy after dinner and enjoyed the cool vibe and seats for everyone. Highly recommend Valet parking

Fab YUM! Scopa Italian Roots was the food highlight of my recent trip to LA/Venice. NOT on Abbot Kinney⊠the restaurant deserves a unique location. Arriving after 9pm the outside seemed quietâŠ.however once inside, the high vaulted ceiling and open space with ambient lighting was inviting. We sat at the bar grazing over several antipasti while sipping Aperol Spritz. Our selection included the Rice Ball, Crispy Squash Blossoms, assorted Pomodorro, and the Meat Ball Hero [sorry, Philadelphia but this was better!!]. And for dolce/dessert FluffernutterâŠnot sweet âŠ.just an amazing surprise which the bartender insisted we try! Each plate was full of flavors, textures, and more than enough for two people to share. Cannot wait to return to try more on the menu.

We were advised to stop in here on a Saturday night. We had no reservations and it was packed. You can eat at the bar but also try to finangle space at communal tables. We ate an appetizer of the calamari at the bar. It arrives looking charred, but it melts in your mouth. We managed to get two seats at the communal table and ordered a few small plates. We split a raw brussel sprouts salad which was to die for! The brussel sprouts are shaved and mixed with some other ingredients to create a huge salad. This is meant to be shared. I ordered pasta and my husband got the lasagna which he swore was the best he had had since a little Italian place in our hometown had closed. One note: despite having 2 story walls of alcohol, they only have 5 vodkas on the menu and I believe I insulted the bartender by asking for a vodka drink. I understand vodka may not be LA trendy anymore, but people in other parts of the country still drink it!

Great food, selection of drinks and an excellent atmosphere. We enjoyed the dining but the drinks & service was slow. One of the pastas was way too salty and could not be finished but we have found this common in the USA everything else was đđ»

The cocktail menu is amazing! So good I had to go back the next weekend to try more of the cocktails. And the food is just as good. The stuffed zucchini blossoms and seafood salad are my favorite so far. And because of the small plates you and your friends can try multiple items.

One must make reservations for the weekends and evenings to get a table at a desired time. Once you get a reservation, the rest is easy. Valet parking is about $7 and they are very friendly . The host and the servers are pretty cool. Some bartenders are pretty awesome as well. The 24 oz steak was amazing.

While philosophers argue about "the thing in itself" (noumena) and "the thing as it appears to be" (phenomena), at Scopa, the thing in itself is what it appears to be. Forget about atmosphere (it's pleasant enough), or crowds (It can get crowded especially since they've chosen to take up valuable space with shelves of merchandise), or noise (The loud chatter of guests trying to hear each other speak is not really that bad), or service (It's in the acceptable range); forget about all of it because the food is "the thing" and it's that good; nothing else matters. We were a group of about nine people, not friends but not strangers either. Saturday brunch was a way of getting to know each other. We knew this would be much more than the average get together after the first bite of the opening appetizer--calamari. The dish was simply prepared; squid covered in crunchy seaweed. A squeeze of lemon and that's it. Delicious. Followed in quick succession by crispy rice balls and Italian Chopped salad. I washed mine down with a South Bounder Coffee Stout and moved on to my main dish, an Italian Hero sandwich. I'm not clear how they were able to infuse a run-of-the-mill sub sandwich with such flavor but they managed to do it. The bread gave way in all the right places and the meats tasted as if they were cured in the kitchen. Fresh. We tasted each other's dishes and we were all wowed. Do what you have to do to get to Scopa. It's a bit pricey but very reasonable. Your taste buds will thank you.

Had an amazing meal here! Everything we tried was so delicious. The atmosphere is fun and casual. The staff was all very nice. Drinks were on point as well. All around great evening.

Absolutely my favorite. From the bar vibe and amazingly crafted cocktails to the best calamari in town, this place is hands down the best spot in Venice! Also, donât forget about the Zeppole- their amazing yet simple dessert that will make you coming back for more!

Ok if you are the hot restaurant in NYC or San Francisco maybe you can get away with the big city attitude and astronomical prices... But this is Venice California, dude so mellow out a bit! The dining room is loud, actually a reverberating din that makes private, non-shouting conversation virtually impossible. Many of the tables are so close that you will be intimately dining with strangers whether you like it or not. The menu choices are basically Italian but overpriced for the quality and quantity that you receive. You could go to a local "non-hipster" Italian restaurant and order meals for a party of 4 for what one steak will cost you here. The ice cone drinks are a signature item so if you want to spend $16 for what is basically artistically layered cup of crushed ice, here is your place! If you want to wear your best LA black gear-preferably something torn -and maybe a statement hat, dine with strangers (and perhaps make/pick up a new friend) and overpay for your food and drink but feel very cool doing it then get in your reservation now- they will up fast!

Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. We started with the prosciutto & burrata along with the squash blossoms. For mains we had the veal Milanese and chicken Parmesan. For dessert we shared the pavlova. It gets very busy and loud, but we plan to go back soon!

We had a great time and the food is amazing! Try the raws (oysters, steak tartare and fish). Quality is superb

Ricotta Crostini, Raw Brussels sprouts, Roasted Chicken, and Spumoni all terrific. Wine list: amazing breadth and depth.

The Squid Ink Calamari appetizer put this place up to 5 stars. Although, the color is off-putting, the taste was incredible and I couldn't stop eating this. The chicory salad was tough and bitter, but that's what this lettuces are (probably so healthy), so if you want something softer, maybe go with the gem salad. The rigatoni pasta was perfect, toothy yet soft. The crispy garlic was an unexpected surprise. As a teenager we enjoyed Asti Spumoni wine, because it was sweet, and the Spumoni desert was no exception. The pistachios gave it the perfect taste.

This restaurant is great for drinks and antipasti with friends, or large groups at a table where you can get a little noisy. It's definitely NOT a quiet restaurant, so don't come here looking for a romantic night out. But if you're in the mood for fun, tasty food, stop by. I hear there's a speakeasy in the back, open for private parties if you're friendly with the staff. My favorite item on the menu is the arancini, which is hard to find outside Sicily, let alone on the westside of L.A.. The bar is always stocked and the mixologists definitely know what they're doing.

We really encourage to try this very cool place. Food, service, bar and atmosphere all fantastic. Menu is very thoughtfully considered. Obviously pasta is the main game (perfect lasagna). Make sure you make room for the pavlova for dessert!

Though pricey and small portions, just order enough and you won't leave hungry :) Staff is very friendly, ambiance is great, though very loud. For people with hearing problems (1 in our company) a tough place to talk and listen. We nevertheless enjoyed it very much and will be back.

70$ for a pasta special?! Seriously? I couldn't believe it... the waiter didn't even seem to think it was appropriate to mention the 70$ price tag for one plate when the rest of the menu averages around 15-30$. Had a word with the manager because I thought this was unfair. Apparently their business practice is to not tell the customer the price cause it will scare them off. Finally we go to knock off 30$ bucks of appetisers after a bit of push and pull but it definitely ruined what would of been a pleasant dinner.

Great atmosphere with a cool bar and interesting drinks. Our server was what you want from a waiter; knowledgable, attentive, friendly. He guided me on which wine to choose depending on taste and walked me through what could be made gluten free. They have Against the Grain bread and gluten free pasta. We shared the ricotta appetizer with gf bread and it was to die for! My husband loved the lasagna. The place is popular so you need to make reservations!

I enjoyed going to this restaurant in Venice. The ambiance is excellent with the bar acting as the central focus point. Food is a lot less interesting (most dishes where either bland or overly sweet), except for the fried calamari which were really good. The place is noisy, so keep that in mind if you want to have a good conversation.

Beautiful loft style restaurant with exceptionally great pasta. Service was fast and friendly. Good mixture of interesting guests.

Loved the look/feel of this restaurant, though the room was pretty noisy. Thought the food was very good, and the bar scene a lot of fun.

Coming from out of the area I was to meet my brother there. We had trouble finding the place because they have NO signage- nothing on top of the restaurant nor on the window. First we ordered coffee and it came in a paper to-go cup with a lid even though they had non-paper dishes for the food. I ordered a chopped salad for brunch which came in a cereal sized bowl but cost as much as the giant salads at Cheesecake Factory. There were no crackers or rolls to go with it and the salad was so spicy that a chilehead like me couldn't finish it. It is located on Washington ave and has no view or anything else to redeem it.

my co-worker and I had gotten a couple of recommendations to try this new trendy restaurant during our trip. We had a long day and thought we could grab a quick meal early right when Scopa opened at 5pm. we arrived at 4:50pm and waited outside locked doors. The host asked if we had a reservation and then asked us to sit in the lounge that overlooked the entire dining room. We waited 20 minutes looking at a very empty restaurant until I inquired if we would be able to eat there or not? We were put at a little table and advised that the table had a set reservation at 7:30pm. We would have to leave by then. Hmmm.... first impression. not great. But then Sarah our server was AWESOME! she was so knowledgeable on the menu and gave exceptional recommendations. Including fabulous wine pairings. Bravo. The establishment did fill up with a steady stream of people starting at 5:45pm- so I see that you probably cant walk in w/o a reservation in prime time.

Scopa was delicious. We have been wanting to come for a long time, and I am so glad we were able to fit it in on this trip. The restaurant has a hip and trendy vibe. Our waitress was wonderful and answered all of our questions and gave us great recommendations. We shared the rice ball and eggplant parm to start. Both of them were heaven in my mouth. The red sauce at Scopa is just perfect...I wanted to eat it like soup. Both dishes came out piping hot. I need this eggplant recipe! It was baked to perfection with gooey bubbly cheese and crispy on the edges. Next we had a pasta dish( Cacio de peppe). It was cheesy and creamy and the perfect amount of pepper. We finished off with the whole branzino...unreal. It was lite and flavorful and a great way to finish off our meal. The fish was cooked with thyme, parsley and lemon. The skin was crispy and the fish was flakey and tasty. We will definitely be back here again. This place was hopping all night long. It is not pretentious or over the top fancy. There were young people, older people and families. This is a great Italian spot in the Venice area that should not be missed if you are in this area.

Mixed experience- 1230 reservation, we arrived on time and then waited 20 minutes for a table that was set and available when we arrived. Kind of strange but ok we were finally seated. Waited another 15 minutes for a server who was very polite but kept disappearing. We ordered and eventually got our coffee. Long wait for food - even longer wait. Food finally arrived in stages after over an hour with many apologies - and they forgot our starter biscuits. The food was excellent. Perfectly cooked eggs, delicious bacon and fresh salmon and bagel. All outstanding. The food was great but did not make up for the extended delays. The wait staff was game but clearly short handed; who knows what was going on in the kitchen. Disappointing because the food was very good once we got it.

If you are here for a business meeting, be warned that loud music and a dark setting can make it a bit difficult to conduct business. Otherwise, food and service are fantastic. We ordered many appetizers including butterfly squash, prosciutto and burrata and the tuna appetizer. Everything was delicious. The bar scene is lively and cocktails are spot on. I didnât see a sign identifying the restaurant outside, but Valet parking ( credit cards accepted) is $7. This photo I posted is a The Branzino which was served filleted.

I have been coming here for a long time and love this place. It can be crowded and you need to make a reservation most of the time because it can be difficult to try to walk in. That said the food is amazing. They make really high quality drinks and the atmosphere is very nice. The staff are tremendously accommodating and friendly. I booked a large party for my fiancés birthday and it was so nice. They were able to seat us a bit early. The food was incredible (family style from a pre-fixed choice menu). Our servers were quick and on point. They paired amazing wines and were quick to ad more of the dishes we liked when asked. The owner even allowed my fiancé and I to do part of our engagement shoot in the bar before they opened one day. Nicest people and a must try.

Has brunch there and it was lovely. Great vibe, fresh food and terrific service. Really a nice spot and highly recommended.

A great farm to table Italian interpreted recipes by celebrity chef Antonia Lofaso of Top Chef and Restaurant Startup fame. Prepare to have a lead time of a week to get a reservation. Our favorite dishes are crispy ricotta stuffed squash blossoms, calamari, fried cauliflower, steak tartare, Italian chopped salad, cavatelli, veal chop, and creamy polenta. Save room for pavlova and chocolate panna cotta

From the friendly greeting to angling our heads up to gaze at this gorgeous space, we started off with a great start..the brunch here was AMAZING!! I honestly don't think you can go wrong. There were 4 of us and we all ordered something different, the soft eggs in a skillet, the fritatta, the challah french toast, the breakfast sandwich..I'm making myself hungry just thinking about it!

Visited with a large group for business dinner. We had a private room upstairs with great service and atmosphere. We had two bartenders coming up to present some special drinks and discuss of the wine we were served that night. They came up with vegan option for me, even though we didn't mention that during the reservation time. The donuts we got for dessert are AMAZING.

Nice atmosphere, warm welcoming always exists there. Not to mention great food. This is the real jewel in Marina del Rey. You can try several different dishes, so you have to go there several time if you are not in big group. Price is also very reasonable. I really enjoyed it. This is always the first choice if I have to eat around this area. All the dishes are fairly small, so you can have full course meal from the appetizer to desert with fair price I believe. Most of all, unlike many other Italian restaurant in California, this follows real recipe from Italy. ìë§ë ìș늏íŹëì ì§ììì ì°Ÿêž° ìœì§ ìì ìŽí늏ì ìëčì ëë€. ëìŹê° ê·žëŠŹ íŹì§ ìêł , ì í” ë ìíŒ ê·žëëĄ ì ì í ê°êČ©ì íë„í ë§ì ëë€. ìŹëŹëČ ë°©ëŹžíŽì ëȘšë ë©ëŽë„Œ ë€ ëščìŽëłŒ ì ëëĄ ì¶ìČí©ëë€. ê·ŒìČìì ììŹë„Œ ìĄêČ ë멎 ê°ìžì ìŒëĄë íŒì€íž ìŽìŽì€ì ëë€.

Don't waste your precious time or money for overrated overpriced foo foo silly meals. Sub par service and atituuude. Plenty of nothing. There are far better eateries in my town!

I visited this restaurant twice this week, both times for business dinner. The food was great, service attentive, good ambience and prices not too crazy considering the area and the quality. Will definitely be coming back.

Chose here after much deliberation to end our honeymoon trip and wasnât disappointed. Great Italian, cool vibes, awesome service, amazing wine and the best Antipasto Iâve ever had. A must in Venice/La

Took a long time before we could sit, Despite having reserved. Food Ok. Waitress was great. Dark environment. Overpriced..

Relaxed business outing. Valet on the side , fantastic bar ( stop there before you sit). We were 7 and the Waiter suggested sharing of dishes. We had this an overview of many items from the shrimps ( super) to some nicely (spicy) tasting salad , polenta ( great texture and feel), lamb to perfection and spaghetti with white truffles (its an acquired taste ( me). Just to mention a few of the plates.. then wine ( a good choice of Italian) then deserts ( loved the one with the bitter almond taste). Service kept coming at the right pace with, changes of plates etc.. super friendly and efficient. A place to return to! Ambiance is great.. a bit noisy but everyone was having fun.

This place is gorgeous and open, but there is zero privacy and it's very hard to hear and to talk. A long table of drunk girls echoed so much that we had to get up and move just to hear the waiter speak. Once we moved, it took forever to order a bottle of wine or food. I was surprised at the lack of quality service, as this place had been recommended by our bartender at the Ritz Carlton. The waiter could have sold us more by just paying attention to us. I ordered the meatball sub, which was good and stuffed to the gills with sauce and burrata. It was good but not great. I recommend having a drink here the bar and moving on elsewhere for dinner.

A local favorite, with a definite bent towards young hip crowd. We had to start with a fluffernutter (doesnât want to eat dessert first)... and progressed to some delicious dining. The baby beet/burrata with vanilla and tarragon was delicious and creative ... egg plant Parmesana ok. One couple shared a roasted chicken dish said flavored good but drying. Lasagna some of the best my husband has had in the state of California! Raw cauliflower salad was said to be a hit. Noisy environment

We went with my daughter for her birthday dinner. There were 10 of us. The restaurant was very noisy. Granted it was a Saturday night and obviously the place to be. Service was excellent and the food was outstanding. My daughter had chosen a menu for the table with one of the events team. Although we chose a variety of dishes and each was Incredible, 2 small plates of each for 10 people was not sufficient. The pasta dishes, the pecorino and the Vongole absolutely a must but with 5 hungry men at the table, this was hardly sufficient to even get ore than a spoonful each. I had to order 2 more portions of the pasta. The Branzino was divided into a single fillet on each side of the table and I had to order a whole new portion. There was not even enough for all of us to taste. The T-bone steak was amazing and the right size as we had some Non meat eaters at the table. This menu was not cheap and we felt that the events team needed to advise us of quantities.

The old fashioned the bartender made was quite tasty. Overall, the food was really good but the pasta I ordered was way too salty. Since the owner is a regular judge on Cutthroat Kitchen, I was disappointed to discover that my dish was over-salted. If it hadn't been over-salted, it would have been delicious. The lasagna was good. The meatball hero appetizer was really tasty. It was easy to share between 2 people, but would be harder to divide up for more.

This place is excellent for brunch and superb service! Our waitress was most attentive and offered suggestions for brunch. Everything was delicious and had a great table, right by the window, so relaxing!

My teenage daughter wanted to visit here thanks to Food Network. The food was amazing! We went for brunch. The staff was great. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. Would highly recommend if youâre in the Venice area.

Cool spot, good scene, glorious meatballs!!!! Pastas decent. I could have eaten 20 of the mini meatball subs. Big place. A little loud but itâs just bc itâs cool Did I say To get the meatballs?

We just learned of this place even though we are close to it. Our waiter was very helpful with guidance. We ordered scallops and a bronzino, a pasta an a dessert. All perfect. Each bite was decadent with butter and flavor. We learned about the restaurant by touring their fresh garden nearby in Venice. The chef puts the fresh herbs and greens to positive use! I'll be back.

A converted Chinese restaurant with $67 main courses.Service is excellent, food is very good but it is difficult to enjoy the food with the noisy pick up bar scene. Scopa has a policy against corkage. If you enjoy Bestia this place will turn you on.I think the quality of the food does not match the lofty price and I enjoy the option of corkage. A place like Angelina Osteria offers much better food & value for cost.

We are here as part of a friend's birthday. We opted for the set menu of small places - which were all delicious and plenty to serve a group of 8 people. There's a great selection of alcoholic drinks too, and the service is equally excellent.

We got there early. We had trouble finding it because the SCOPA was not on the front. We walked from the Venice Canals. I traveled 2500 miles from home to try the crispy squash blossoms. I'm from the south. We fry everything. We had a giant garden with many squash plants but we never once fried a blossom. I have a Sicilian friend who told me they stuffed them too. I was so excited to try. I was not disappointed. It's the most delicate crunch you can imagine. My husband covered it with the side sauce and he lost that crunch but he tells me the sauce was very good. We shared the Italian Cheese Board which my husband loved. The mild blue cheese with raisins was his favorite. We shared everything. We had the Bucatini which was delicious. My husband thinks they could have done more with the zucchini but I'm totally wowed by the awesome pesto. Yum. Sicilian Ice Cream Sandwich was our dessert choice. It was tasty. My husband said he liked the chocolate which we think is the Nutella.

This is a fun place with great food. We had reservations on a Saturday night, which is recommended. After our meals we visited their speakeasy Old Lightning, which was fun

Reservations made by local friends to ensure a good experience. We arrived promptly only to be informed by the hostess that we would have to wait a few minutes to be seated although the restaurant was empty. We requested a table with four chairs not benches but this was not possible according to the hostess since she reported ALL tables were already reserved. Next 2 slices of bread appear at the table for a party of 4. After several requests to the waiter additional bread was finally served. If you arrive hungry, make sure you are prepared for a large bill. Portions are very small and food doesnât meet up to any real Italian dining experience. There is no sign outside the restaurant for patrons to see. That might be a good thing. We would say: âForget about it!â Try a place with real Italian Hospitality! K B B

A local in the know pointed us here, and she nailed it. Beautiful, soaring space with no exterior markings and exposed brick. A legitimately good bar staff that made meaningful suggestions based on taste preferences. Family-style dishes (not meaning huge in size, but intended to share) that nearly uniformly exceeded expectations. Highlights: calamari with ink; ricotta & bread, beets & burratta, T-bone steak, wood-ear mushroom pasta... and the desserts. Do not miss their version of doughnuts. From a non-eater of sweets - they are spectacular.

Was in LA on business this week and dined here with my friend who is from the area. We had quite a drive from our hotel to get here but it ended up being completely worth it. The place was busy and deliciously fun. Everyone's food was unique and incredibly well prepared. Service was good despite the large crowd. I will definitely be back when I'm in town next.

We had dinner in Scopa on a Monday and most of the tables were occupied. We shared some Appetizers, they were all really fresh and great. We can recommend: calamaris, meat balls and eggplant. As well we shared an Italian Salad. Again great food, really delicious dressing. As a main course we decided us all for Pasta (Chorizo, Mussels and Pappardelle with Pork). The three of them were great. Perfect to the good food was the Californian red wine. We didnât tried any cocktails, but Scopa would had have a huge selection of Drinks and Cocktails.

Six of us had dinner at Scopa. We had to wait about 40 minutes past our reservation but the time went by quickly. Terrific cocktails and folks gathered at the bar made easy conversations. We ordered a number of pasta dishes and shared. We particularly enjoyed the simple pasta of pecorino and black pepper. The cheese crostini was so good, we placed a second order.

A coworker and LA native suggested trying this place. The coworker is known for making great recommendations, but Scopa was hands down out of this world. We were seated at a communal table near the kitchen and had a lovely waiter. He was attentive but didn't hover which was nice. We were then approached by a gentleman named Chris (we assumed he was a manager) who was just a pleasure, he treated us like family, he was funny and he made our experience beyond lovely. He suggested we have the crispy squash blossom appetizer, it was splendid. We went on to order three of the pasta dishes- Chitarra, Rigatoni, Creste Rigate and each was even more amazing than the last. I have never had an experience like this one. Chris spoiled us rotten and the food was so incredibly amazing.

Delicious creative cocktails (cool bar visually), scrumptious homemade pasta, wonderful apps, and great desserts. Highly recommend!! Cool vibe, but may be dark and noisy for some

Should be nice in theory as there is a very good atmosphere and the place is busy but the portion sizes are tiny! I ordered ravioli for my main and there were only 4 small pieces of ravioli which would only pass as a starter anywhere else. To be fair though it was really well cooked and tasted delicious just a shame it was so small and in turn so overpriced , this would definitely stop me going back again.

Dinner for two at a dope spot! My friend said it was the best Italian food in LA and he wasnât lying! The recipes are very authentic. We had so much food. I now know the feeling of a food coma. We kicked off the night with glasses of rose. Complimentary bread and ordered burrata . "Burrata" was so fresh and just melted in your mouth. We also tried the "Raw Brussel Sprouts" and the "Crispy Squash Blossoms" that were recommended by our server. Dishes are on a small portion so we decided on chicken parmesan, rigatoni, and chitarra. All were extremely yummy. We saved room for dessert and ordered the "Zeppole" and "Fluffernutter" that were warm and sweet. Our server was outstanding and gave us the best service with attention to detail. He brought us dessert wines on the house. How sweet! The atmosphere was very trendy and modern. I loved the bar and the whole vibe of this place. I will recommend this to anyone that is looking to be wowed over Italian food.

Perfect for a drink, a lovely place for a happy hour. If your option is to have a meal, this will bee a excellente option too.

Can to Cali for a long weekend and this place was my favorite meal! Make reservations before hand if you can! The service was exceptional and so was the food and drinks. We had the Raw Brussels Sprouts Salad, Whole Branzino, Amberjack, Fried Cauliflower and a past dish (can't remember the name). Everything was outstanding.

My friend and I came due to our Lyft driver recommendation. AMAZING! the rigatoni was fantastic, that vodka sauce is incredible! My friend had the seafood salad, although a smaller looking dish, it's a never ending pile of freshness....she even took some of her calamari and dunked into my vodka sauce. We even enjoyed and shared the affugato and cheesecake for dessert. Both were just as amazing as the main course. Our drinks were fantastic!

It was just perfect. Like a Michelin meal in terms of taste and quality, and i have had a few. The pasta, the startes, the desert, the wine, the service, it was a meal it would be hard to forget.

Our son and daughter-in-law live in Culver City and we live on the east coast near Baltimore. There are dramatic differences between the two cultures and both our son and his wife are aficionado's of the left coast culture. Naturally, Scopa was one of their choices for our visit and we weren't disappointed. The entire menu was enticing and making choices was difficult but we managed. The calamari cooked in ink infused batter was great as an appetizer and each of our entree's was delicious. In addition, the wine list boasted whatever you wanted to best compliment your order. Their bar selection is overwhelming but my choice was made easier by a bourbon cocktail on the menu that featured bourbon, rum, special bitters and maraschino juice that was to die for. It was kind of a cross between a Manhattan and an Old Fashioned. WOW. I've got to find out what that was. Next time we go for brunch.

This has the appearance of a nice restaurant, the type of place I'd be happy to have in my rotation in L.A............... However, they have a reservation process that is an absolute deal killer. One has to call a number at a designated window of 6 hours, leave a message stating name, time and date desired, and they MIGHT call you back. I've tried twice to make reservations for 2. I find it the height of arrogance in the restaurant business to never have a human voice on the reservation line and then to keep you hanging until 5 pm on the date requested to not hear back. This is just not the way to do it. Eventually, arrogance like this will catch up with a place. I'm not calling again and I wonder how many other potential customers feel the same way,

Very. Ice designed place. Big. A little bit noisy. Very good food italian based. Excellent service. Prosciutto + burrata was very good as well as the polenta and pasta. All the way... very good restaurant !! I will come again.

This is Chef Antonio Lofazo's restaurant. We're fans of her from her guest judging appearances on Cutthroat Kitchen. The interior is lovely and not too noisy. Nice ambient electronica playing in the background. Food was delish, wine was exceptional, service was great early but Muriel's attention waned as we neared dessert. It was clear she was focusing on other tables so we didn't take it personally - well, maybe just a little since she did know it was the last night of our honeymoon. It's a splurge but worth it.

Cool place in Venice where you can have a very tasty, healthy and original dinner, with Italian roots. The staff is very warm, welcoming and carefully prepared. Well done.

A very chic restaurant with excellent food. Everything was so good !!. Not recommended for business as the music is loud, still don't miss this restaurant.

Nice seating, friendly waiters, excellent food. Interesting people. As we were looking for new dinner locations in Marina del Rey, SCOPA was recommended to us by the Ritz Carlton concierge. Very good choice! We had a great time: belgian beer and american food ... a good combination. We will certainly return

Real Italian food, enjoyed it all. Not the greatest outside area but the inside is really good. Overall a great place to go for an Italian dish.

We spent a few days in Santa Monica and had plenty of plans/reservations. We wanted to come back! Everything was EXCELLENT

After a gourmet trip in LA, find this restaurant the most disappoint one. Quality of food mediocre, ingredient average and poor execution. Burrata and San Daniele Prosciutto served with strawberry..... Never experience strawberry with prosciutto bad bad bad. Squid Calamari is their signature dish... Again disappoint . Farmed sea bass well cooked but farmed fish... Overall nothing was impressive and food is in contrast with the ambience. Will not go back, maybe just for pre dinner drink.

Great scene. Wonderful well prepared small plates of Italian gems. New interpretations of traditional dishes. We sampled several appetizers, salads, and pastas. All were well done.

I did a dinner here with friends on March 29, 2016. The food was plentiful and good for sharing. Our waiter was attentive and helpful with food recommendations. Overall, a great spot for some lively conversation (it is not a quiet restaurant) and good food with friends.

Ambiance, food and service brilliant. Waiter knew the menu inside out. Have a nut allergy and the waiter and chefs were very mindful of this. Great meal.

Such a great vibe to this restaurant. Excellent food and service, but a fun bustling energy to the room, as well. We had some tasty vegan options.

Prior good reviews encouraged us to try Scopa. Things didn't go well right from the start as we struggled to locate the restaurant as the only sign on the building was for "Hot Yoga" - I guess they thought it was way cool to forego any identification of their place. The restaurant is very noisy and a disinterested host show us to a table. While the food was good it was very much overshadowed by terrible service. Our waiter disappeared after taking our order, appetizer dishes were never cleared and were actually left on the table when entrees were delivered. A potentially very pleasant experience was ruined by disinterest, poorly trained staff and a terrible atmosphere.

I was impressed by Scopa when there in Aug 2018. - Venue: quite nice and modern design - atmosphere: very relaxed and quiet - food: amazing - the best Italian food I had abroad, starting from the selection until the way it tasted - service: some serious staff work here. Discrete, know what they are doing and always looking to serve you the best experience This is a fab restaurant providing a fab experience. Best spot to impress or spend proper time with your partner.

I was here with a group of friends for dinner; the food was fabulous, from the brussels sprout salad to the myriad pasta dishes. However by the time we left, my head was ringing with all the noise. My friends and I had to shout to be heard; it was not very pleasant. Advice: find out when the less popular times are, and go then.

We had watched Chef Lofaso in Tournament of Champions, and in TOC5 she was a finalist, losing to Maneet Chauhan. But her creativity was amazing! We had not remembered that we had been here for Mother's Day brunch in 2021! At 6:45 pm the place was quite full and buzzing - noise level was not too bad, even though there were lot of hard surfaces. I had the Sandia y Mezcal - mezcal, watermelon, lime, sugar, salt & pepper. On hindsight, I would have gone with something else since watermelon flavor is not a hot favorite of mine. My wife had the better East India Cocktail - cognac, maraschino, pineapple, lemon, bitters. The shared appetizer was the Crispy Squash Blossoms - ricotta, mozzarella, tomato, chili. Competently made, but not much more than that. The ricotta and mozzarella filling could have some spicing added to enhance the flavor. The tomato sauce was plain vanilla tomato sauce. The crisp and light batter on the squash blossoms was the only thing going for it! We shared a pasta dish â on the recommendation with the very friendly waiter - Creste Rigate - wild mushrooms, parmesan, dandelion greens, breadcrumbs. I was persuaded by the wild mushrooms, and the dandelion greens (it actually came with fiddlehead ferns - that is not updated on their web menu) â but besides being nice it was not something I would order again! Our main course was probably the best from my perspective - Roasted Chicken - creamed polenta, kale, calabrian chilies, shallots, maitake mushrooms. I always like a roasted chicken if there is good crispy skin. This dish came with a nice full leg and a breast portion of a small country chicken. The accompanying polenta and kale was fine as sides. The chicken was very flavorful, moist, and had a good flavor. We finished with a Sicilian Ice Cream Sandwich - hazelnut gelato, nutella, brioche bun. Obviously the hazelnut was what swayed my decision. Watching Chefâs creativity on TV is one thing, but setting expectations of that quality food was our error â in a service pantry with primarily chefs from south of the border, you cannot show that degree of creativity. We will not make that mistake again!

Excellent food. Real Italian flavours. Service very attentive and friendly. Worth a visit if you are looking to entice your taste buds.

My daughters and I planned to come here on our trip to LA for the youngest one's 10th birthday. We are big fans of Chef Antonia from Top Chef and Cutthroat Kitchen. The restaurant was flexible when we had to move our reservation back an hour due to flight issues. Once there, we began with Ricotta Toast, which was fabulous. We also had the Squid Ink Calamari. The black color of the batter made it unusual to look at, but it was just average. I would have loved some sort of dipping sauce with it. For our meals we tried a couple of different pastas, which were both amazing. My 10 year old then received a complimentary panna cota for dessert, and we also shared some Italian donuts. Yummy! The highlight, though, was seeing Chef Antonia in the dining room. She took the time to speak to us and even came back with a cookbook that she signed for my birthday girl. How wonderful is she?!?!? My normally loquacious daughter was star struck. Definitely a memorable experience for us all.

Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. Great Italian food. Appetizers were great. Meet balls were terrific. Eggplant appetizer was super. Everything on the menu was excellent, the pasta fradiavlo was too spice hot for me. Great looking bar, no Crown Royal, but the have Four Roses. Service was great. Valet parking. Reservations recommend
Cool place
My husband and I ate here based on a recommendation from our Airbnb host. Although pricey, (we are from the Midwestđ) it was delicious! I ordered the rigatoni, and although the portion was small, it was just the right amount of pasta, and oh so good. My husband opted for a salad which he said was extremely good. The place had a cool vibe. If you donât have a reservation for a private table, you will mostly likely sit at a communal high top table with ânew friendsâ sitting an elbowâs length from you. I enjoyed it! The service was top notch! I would definitely go back.
