The best seafood Chinese buffet restaurant ever visited

By Sharon J |

I had a business trip to San Diego in mid-July, 2017. I always try out a local Chinese buffet restaurant whenever I visit a new city. I found this place from the web. It is about 20 miles north of downtown San Diego, CA. It is located in the middle of a shopping center. When we walked in, it looked like a regular Chinese buffet restaurant. Dinner price is $20/person. What surprised me was the variety and quality of the foods served. Seafood was very fresh, including the snow crab legs. One of the stir-fried dish contained sea cucumber, an expensive ingredient. All food tasted really good.

Very nice buffet

By Craig W |

Very nice buffet, can get full with locals, so that says something about the food. Sushi is always fresh, they do a good job of replacing items that are out. There is a Mongolian grill and noodle bar. Both provide nice alternatives. Remainder of the food is a mix of typical Asian foods you see on a buffet. Been there a couple times and I was never disappointed. Plenty of desserts as well. Reasonably priced at about $20 with tip.

Poor !

By QueenB88 |

We went here based on the good reviews, what a mistake. Perhaps if your going for seafood only, it may suffice, otherwise, never again. Selection was not good, aside from seafood, which we do not eat. The entire place smells like fish. Food was mediocre at best. Place was packed and most people didn't speak a word of English. Kids screaming and running all over the place, what an wonderful experience, now we add a price of 20 on the weekend and that just tops the cake. We probably at 6 dollars worth of food and paid 60 for 3 people, outrageous. As a rule buffets are not great, this one was a big disappointment. Will never return.

I can only say two words about this restaurant " great great". there is a wide variety of foods. I really cannot say what was the best, everything was outstanding, if I had to narrow my best choice would be the king crab. there was just so much to try. we will be back. I would rate this restaurant a 10+++

So bad

Now Seaside Buffet: small selection with OK food

By lindagn1 |

My family and I went here for my mom's birthday. She loves buffets and we haven't gone here in a while. The renovation is quite impressive. Looks like less seating and less food stations than before but the food was ok. They also have a full service bar but it didn't look like it was open when we were there on a Thursday night. The fresh stir fry station was painfully slow. You get a plate of raw food and place it on the counter for a person to stir fry for you. There was one person cooking and the plates just kept piling up. She would grab plates out of order so it's not necessarily first come first served. She also had to man the noodle soup station so that took additional time. They seemed understaffed behind the counter. They had the traditional fare of Chinese food and sushi. Cold and warm crab legs, soups, dim sum, oysters, a wide variety of fish, meats, chicken, etc. They also had cotton candy in the dessert area. Their cold salads and fruits could use a little more variety. Overall, I like the new décor but I thought the food was just about average. Parking was not a problem and the service was on point. Plates were cleared out very quickly and service was very friendly. We brought in a cake and they offered to put it in the fridge until we were ready for it. No extra fees for cake cutting, etc. Since we had a large party, gratuity was included but I still don't know how I feel about tipping the full 15% when I have to get the food.

Variety

We stopped by for dinner. There is a huge selection of food. The food quality is average but considering this is buffet, that is normal. It is little pricy compared with other similar restaurants in the east coast.

Best seafood buffet in town!!

By Mel J |

By far the best buffet in town!! Great staff and customer service. And the food is a hit every time!!! If you're looking for a seafood buffet that hits all the right notes, this place is a must-visit! My family and I have made it our go-to spot, and for good reason. The food is absolutely incredible—fresh, flavorful, and with a variety that ensures there's something for everyone. From perfectly cooked crab legs to succulent shrimp and an array of sushi that could rival any specialty restaurant, every dish is prepared with care and attention to detail. What really sets this place apart is the customer service. The staff aren't just friendly—they go above and beyond to make my family and I feel welcome and well taken care of. Whether it's promptly refilling drinks, clearing plates with a smile, or offering recommendations, their attentiveness makes every visit special. We have been here more times than I can count, and it never disappoints. It's rare to find a spot that consistently delivers high-quality food and exceptional service, but this buffet has mastered it. If you're a seafood lover, do yourself a favor and give this place a try. Trust me, you'll be hooked!

Average buffet

If you like snow crab legs, this is the place for cold ones. They keep refilling the tray. Ask for a nut cracker. They use stylefoam plates and cups. It is OK with me. Try to go there after 6:45P for dinner. Go there too early, you are eating the leftover food from lunch. Ask for senior 10 % discount if you are over 65. Sushi was pretty good. There is a Mongolian Grill. You pick your meat and vegetable and they do the cooking for you. Limited desert. I went to the Natsumi Seafood buffet the day before. It is a better buffet. Price is about the same. One of the problem is - they are slow refilling the crab leg tray.

King Crab!!

By ChavSanti |

This place has some huge a$$ king crab. Very meaty and fresh. Can get crowded in the weekends. For around $16, you can definitely get your fill of seafood. The front staff are very friendly but the wait\bus staff can get a bit pissy. Very helpful in getting drinks and clearing plates but don't expect a smile or any small talk. Don't freak out with the noise of banging plates. It's just the waitresses "throwing" dirty plates to the side.

A LOT of choices!!

By James C |

Bring your appetite! I bet there are at least 100 choices to choose from. Even grilled specials. I went there just as they opened. I am glad. After 1/2 hour place got PACKED!! I myslef enjoy all u can eat. Sample small portions because there is a wastage fee. ( it didn't apply to me)

Best Chinese in SD

By JohnMarkKucera |

Actually called the East Buffet. I have been coming here for years whenever I am in San Diego. I will drive more than an hour to get here. Great food, lots of choices. My favorite is the crab Rangoon. Highly recommend.

Good buffet with great variety!

By Margaret H |

Surprisingly good Asian buffet with Japanese (sushi & teppanyaki), Chinese (even some dim sum, but not good), and even Brazilian BBQ meats. Although not the best we've ever had, we think it is the best Asian buffet we've found in San Diego for variety & price and would definitely recommend. Remember the cotton candy for the kids! FYI - There's a 10% Senior Discount but we had to ask for it.

Seafish Galore!

By Cheri W |

We decided to try this buffet because it was on our way home from hiking off Black Mountain. This place is amazing! It offers a sushi bar, a Brazilian fresh food bar with chicken, beef and veggies you select and they cook-delicious with the oils and spices they add. Then of course there is the shellfish : snails, crab legs, shrimp which I didn't try. I tended to stick to the marinated mushrooms, broccoli, and a taste of the prepared Chinese dishes, which were very good. The dessert section was outstanding also, with a chocolate fountain for dipping watermelon, strawberries, pineapple, grapes etc. The only drawback was waiting in line for the kids to dip every piece in chocolate. We went on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed with hungry people.Parking is fairly easy because this buffet is in a small mall off Miramar Rd. and has ample parking spaces. On the week-end spaces fill up quickly, however.

Now named Seaside Buffet, new management & remodel

Hadn't visited in over a year, and was nicely surprised, completely remodeled, looks like a little less variety but much better quality as well as added the Brazilian Churrasco.

Family friendly restaurant

By Default33009 |

This restaurant has a large separate room for groups. Not only do they have a large selection of seafood and sushi, they also have a Mongolian BBQ. They also have chicken dishes for those who do not eat seafood. There were many choices. We sat in the banquet room. They did bring your drink to the table but no one ever came back so I don't know if you have to refill on your own.

Food for everyone

By Desiree8199 |

This buffet is amazing, they literally have everything for everyone, from make your own ramen, to mongolian style grill, to dim sum, meats, all sorts of fish, huge assortment of sushi, lots of cooked items, my favorite was the chocolate fountain and the s’mores making station they have everything for dipping and even a mini fridge area with all sorts of other desserts and cakes, ice cream and sooo much more and they even have a bar obviously not included in the $22.00/person but you can have a cocktail or beer with your meal, how awesome is that...definitely recommend this place and it’s super clean, servers are around constantly picking up dirty plates and refilling drinks...
