I was at a boat show. The Seattle Fish Co was participating in a chowder cook off. The next day I went to try their other offerings chowder. I tried the crab bisque. It was rich, warm, and hit the spot.

Can't remember if/when we've ever gone to the same restaurant two nights in a row but when we heard the wonderful crab legs would only be a available for a few more days we had to go back for a repeat. OK and to try out a few other items. Fish tacos, 2/$9, were a bit spicier than elsewhere but tasty. Pan seared halibut and scallops were just shy of being undercooked, simply prepared and seasoned, accompanied by crispy potatoes and vegetables. There's a nice selection of beers and wine by the glass and bottle. Service on a couple of November week nights before 7pm was prompt and friendly. We probably won't be back a 3rd night in a row but will definitely put this into our regular rotation

This is a popular spot with many fresh fish menu items. I had the crab mac and cheese and it was out of this world--and a very generous portion. It can easily be split between two people. They also have a nice beer selection. It's not fancy but the staff are very friendly and food is great. Definitely on my list of favorite Seattle eats. West Seattle is a real gem, be sure to drive down to Harbor Rd. and see the wonderful view of the city.

We had a lovely meal here. Cod and chips and grilled salmon. Cooked really well.....great atmosphere......good bottle,of wine and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

We ordered what we always order (Long term customers); cod fish and fries. (I’ve lived in West Seattle/Burien areas for 50 years) and we received odd, thick, square lumps of fish. I could see that something was not right about the fish because the breading didn’t stick right, and they looked like dried out boxy nuggets. The “boisterously happy” fellow behind the register couldn’t seem to understand what I was talking about because he kept responding that “They are the correct weight, and we weight everything.” When I again asked him to “Look at the fish, it’s just not right, this is what we always order every time,” he went back to the size comment and then added, “They’re really light in color because they just changed the oil.” Indeed, the color was actually the only thing that looked right; a light golden crispy coating, although sparse in areas. Still, he didn’t listen. I went back outside where the light was bright and tried to break the fish apart. It didn’t break! Cod is flaky, period. This was like stringy chicken and had barely any fish scent. This was OLD fish. Not spoiled, rotten fish, but Grandpa Fish! Cod that is fished beyond it’s years does this. Once again, I went in to attempt to communicate but the boisterous fellow who puts on a friendly bravado still couldn’t “hear me.” He kept offering us 2 more pieces of fish, but we didn’t want more of this bad fish. Defeated, I said, “We’re done. Refund, please.” The cashier stepped in to work the refund while the fellow went back to resume his boisterously loud performance behind the glass case, asking the cook to “Cut the pieces longer because the customers don’t understand.” The cook replied that that had been the last of that fish and he would start a new one. We left them the $3.90 in the tip jar, paid for our sodas, and left feeling sad with the realization that we would never return. When head honcho won’t “hear their customers,” or look closely and touch the fish a customer refuses to eat, they cease to be safe. About 8 years ago we received Grandpa Fish at Ivars (we then considered W.Seattle Fish CO. to be better) I contacted the corporate office because their manager behaved exactly the same way, swearing that the fish was fine, but didn’t look at or touch the fish, or do any investigating into the problem. Corporate office checked the shipment and knew what the problem was with the lot; Grandpa Fish! West Seattle Fish Co. You Failed! We are disappointed that we must leave our fond memories behind because you cannot hear your customers anymore. You are not safe; you are arrogant.

Nice place with relaxed atmosphere and excellent food quality .Preparation of food is perfect .The place for a quick fix.

I often order Fish Tacos, and never have I liked them more! This is first and foremost a fish market, with the 10 or so small tables clearly a secondary focus. One orders from the cash register and takes a number before going to a (possibly shared) table. Very quickly the drinks arrived, followed by our fresh and hot food. My companion wasn't able to finish his fish and chips, which he pronouned as excellent and came with cole slaw. My fish tacos were plump with lightly fried fish , a tasty sauce and some chopped cabbage. What I esp. liked was the small dry tacos - NOT fried or greasy at all. And only $9! Total bill, which included one big dark beer, was 24$.

I am visiting Seattle from Houston, a town which knows some great Gulf seafood restaurants. Being in the mood for oysters, I did a random search and literally stumbled on this gem. It is in a very ecclectic part of West Seattle and doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food was fantastic! I had the fried oysters and they were absolutely the BEST I have ever had. Huge, plump, perfectly battered and fried and accompanied by some really good french fries. All for $9. The food and the deal can't be beaten. My son had a fish taco and commented that he has only had a better one in San Francisco. Definately worth the trip over the bridge!

I have been buying crab cakes from the Seattle Fish Company for years for dinner at home. This time we ate at the restaurant and the fish tacos were fabulous. None of the fish fingers in a tortilla stuff, this was real white fish delicately cooked with a fabulous sauce. The others had the crab and salmon cakes and were not disappointed. We were not rushed and enjoyed the casual atmosphere. Can't wait for my next trip back to Seattle for more from this terrific restaurant and shop.

Our family loves going here and picking out our seafood for the night. We have never eaten inside the place, but I have always wanted to. The crab cakes (and salmon/halibut cakes) are awesome. The staff is friendly and helpful.

I had cod (best ever!), fried clams (big and tasty), and fried oysters (large and fresh!), and enjoyed a filling and relatively inexpensive lunch today. I always eat here at least once when I visit Seattle. Don't miss it. Worth the trip over the bridge.

Love coming here for a bite to eat - the ritual of going to church and then hitting the happy hour (or is it reversed) is great. Always fresh, always friendly and the bottle prices are great as well. Also a fan of taking things home to cook - especially the halibut and crab. Friendly staff.

Got take out Fish and Chips as well as Clam Chowder from this location. I had a 3 pc. Halibut though would have been comfortable with the 2 pc. My Chowder which I reheated and had the following day was also excellent. Maybe next time we’ll eat in and have even fresher.

Seattle Fish Company, on California Avenue, sells fresh fish out of the case for you to take home to cook. But they also serve the best fish and chips and soups that you can eat there.

The crab bisque was delicious, thick, flavorful and full of crab. The fish tacos were a good deal—large, stuffed with fish and coleslaw. Two of them will fill you up. Husband liked his halibut and salad.

This is just that local business you want to support because the fresh seafood is not only so good, but the owner, John and his team treat you like you are in their home. Get the crab cakes!

I love this place. Completely unpretentious as a "restaurant" because it is primarily a fish (fresh) market in West Seattle. However, the fish and chips here are fabulous. I prefer the halibut or cod to the salmon - but that's just a personal preference. I have to eat here whenever visiting Seattle. The market here is wonderful. But this is a prime spot for a quick, wonderful lunch or supper. Just great!!

When we moved to Arizona a couple years ago I had no idea how much I would miss FRESH seafood! If your looking for a casual place to get some good fresh seafood, this is a great choice.

One part Fresh Fish Market and one part Fish House make for a great experience. We wandered in here for lunch on a sunny Friday, taking a break from work in our new neighborhood. We've walked by this place dozens of times in the last couple of months and noted how its alway busy. Now we know why. This is first and foremost a fresh fish market with cases of the freshest of the season as some of the best prices for a big city. For example, fresh made crab cakes for about seven bucks! Second they've build a wonderful casual diining experience around the market. Enjoy selections such a variety of Fish 'n Chips baskets.Large serviings, very fresh and well cooked. A special version of Poutine! Grill fish entres and Clam Chowder and Cioppino. We enjoyed a basket of Cod 'n Chips and two Fish Tacoa. Fair warning, the two Fish Tacos are plenty for two people. They are delicious, generous and fresh. To top it off (or wash it down) we each enjoyed a glass of wine at Happy Hour prices.

I saw the menu offers cod sandwich for 8, halibut for 10. Decided to go big and ordered halibut sandwich and a 5 dollar draught. They charged me 20.89, so asked why and the cashier said "10 is fried halibut sandwich, you ordered grilled, have a nice day" and started helping the next person. The menu did not warn of a grilling fee, neither did the cashier. Not a bad sandwich, but for nearly 16$, it would definitely not keep them in business.

I'm really looking forward to returning to this place. The lobster bisque was great and the grilled scallops cooked perfectly. The setting is informal - you order at the counter and your food is brought out to you by some very busy servers, but everything was great. Not a fantastic atmosphere, but great for lunch. Recommended.

Decor is plain with kitchen type tables and chairs. Order at counter with menu written on chalk board above the cash register. Typical selection of chowder, fish and chips, and other fried fish species. We had chippino which was thin and salmon bisque which was very tasty. Captain's platter, a kind of sampler with calamari, oysters and prawns. Prawns were excellent. We also enjoyed fish tacos, spicy with very good slaw, a halibut sandwich and a salmon sandwich. All very good. Service was quick and waiters polite. We visited around 7:00 pm on a Saturday night, people were waiting for tables which are on a first come first serve basis.

We had fish (cod) and chips (french fries), clam chowder and onion rings. The fish was done very well, crispy on the outside and cooked just well enough that it was cooked just right on the inside. The onion rings were super tasty and done to perfection. I like that the clam chowder was full of clams and thick. I definitely will go back.

Fish and chips (salmon and cod) are one of the best in West Seattle!!! Fish tacos — portion was HUGE and the taste was equally HUGE. Not the cheapest, but you will not be disappointed

If you love fresh seafood cooked perfectly and good service at a more than fair price, this is your place! The absolute BEST seafood in Seattle! I can't rave enough. I go at least twice a week when I visit Seattle and would like to go more except for the location being in West Seattle. It doesn't look like much, but it is well worth your time and effort. The fried oysters are huge, fresh, and succulent as are the fried clams. I've never seen bigger clams! Portions are huge and the fries are super. The fish and chips are good too, but my favorites are the oysters and clams. Try a clam chowder too, Very good!

The smoked salmon at this place was amazing and the atmosphere where they throw fish around and the employees attitudes were awesome.. A must to visit if at the Market!

Fantastic place to buy fresh seafood, with a nice and comfy restaurant in the front. Several beers on tap, and perfectly made fish and chips (hard to come by!) Happy hour is offered, check with restaurant for hours. While you don't get the view that Spud on Alki offers, for my money the fish and chips are better at Seattle Fish Company.

We both had the halibut and chips with some cold brew. Would have to say this is the best fish and chips we've eaten in West Seattle, and I can't remember any better in the rest of the city. Ambience isn't much because of the dark interior. But if you can score a table on the sidewalk, it makes for a pleasant casual dining experience. Would eagerly order the same meal again.

I came across a small ad for Seattle Fish Company while reading the guide for Seattle's Bumbershoot festival. Located in West Seattle, I considered trying it after a swim at Coleman Pool, Seattle's oldest outdoor long-course, salt water pool. Disappointed to learn that the pool opened only on weekends after Labor Day, I was there the Tuesday after, I called my partner to pick me up and headed to California Avenue, West Seattle's main street for restaurants, shops, and community centers. Grumpy from being denied a workout, we headed for lunch. With easy on-street parking we spotted the restaurant by its unpretentious sidewalk cafe tables. Being a fish market as well as a grill, I was surprised by the aromas of cooked herbs, not fishy fish. The ambiance was comfortable for the genre. The food, on the other hand, was stellar! I had the grilled salmon steak with roasted potatoes and steamed broccoli. My partner had blackened grill salmon with the same sides, and my mother, who's lived in Seattle for over 70 years (she knows salmon,) had the grilled salmon sandwich. One bite and we were hooked. Wow! Fresh, fresh, fresh! affordable ($12 for at least a 1/4 lb. salmon steak), and cooked to perfection. Not cold wet, not dry, just right :-) Our neighboring tables had pan-seared scallops ($17.00) that smelled divine. A good amount for the money. Their steamed mussels were piled high and the crusty bread for sopping made me want to order another round of lunch. But alas, I didn't get my workout so I have to settle for a second visit. Only negative, if you need lunch in a hurry you might get a little irritated. Fried items come out first no matter the placing order due to the quickness of cooking. But, waiting for the grilled and stewed items, since they're made on the spot with little to no prep-ahead, is more than rewarding for just a little bit of patience. If you're looking for fresh affordable seafood in Seattle, this is the place!

Excellent seafood meals.Seating facing the windows for a great view of passerbys. Very family friendly.

I really appreciate friendly service. And while I think to survive as a seafood restaurant in Seattle, you have to have good food, you don't necessarily have to be friendly. But I would return here in a heartbeat. Greeted with a smile and a warm welcome, I was invited to take my time in ordering. I opted for the "real" Cod sandwich. My food and drinks arrived promptly, the sandwich was fresh and crispy...and honestly (by Hawaii standards at least) it was inexpensive! Great food, great vibe

Stopped in here for a quick lunch and was surprised at how great the food was! Delicious Clam Chowder with big pieces of clam and thick chowder. Also had their Halibut Fish and Chips. Panko breaded and seasoned well with crisp fries made this a good choice. I passed by this place numerous times and wish I'd stopped in sooner!

If you're craving seafood, this is the place. They have a wide variety of options. My pan seared scallops were excellent. Husband's salmon sandwich was very good, although we had ordered grilled salmon (not the sandwich), and we only noticed that the order was incorrect after dining for awhile and gazing at the menu board prices. So, we had to ask for a refund for the difference in price, which we did get. You order at the register, go have a seat, and then they bring the food to you at a table. Parking is on the street and we were lucky to find a spot out front. Next time we want to try the crab cakes.

This is the second time I have lunch at the Seattle Fish Co with friends and the second time I ordered the Penn cove mussels. The mussels were cooked just right, plump and juice, garlic and butter sauce and plenty of them. Two toasted pieces of sour dough break help out soaking some of the oh! so tasty juice. Restaurant is small and not plush. There are a couple of tables outside. Easy access by city buses.

Had lunch today. Ordered the oysters and chips. Oysters themselves were good but were super crunchy. Didn't realize they would be deep fried. Took away from enjoying the oysters. After putting in our order we waited and waited a very long time before we were served. I felt sorry for all those who came after us considering our wait even though we arrived early and were one of the first customers.

My husband really wanted to try this place so we did. We were somewhat disappointed. First of all, the place is very old and not particularly inviting. The fish of the fish and chips didn't have any flavor. The French fries were good though, perfectly fried. The tarter sauce was bland as well.. Same with my husband's smoked salmon chowder. The staff, however, was very nice and kind. The food came out fast. We really wanted to like the place and it has potential. Maybe they just had an off day as most of the reviews here are good.

This place is awesome. You can buy the ingredients to make your own dish at home, or you can dine in. The menu is extensive and full of great seafood and soup and sandwich options. My party had the halibut and chips, salmon chowder, cod sandwich, and cioppino. All of it was spot-on and left us feeling very full and quite happy. The place was clean, staff friendly, service quick, and street access easy. I'll come here next time I'm in Seattle for sure.

As a native New Yorker, I don't pay mind to ambience and think space is a luxury, not a privilege, so i don't share some of the same complaints as other posters. Service was great, prices were acceptable and most importantly - the food was fresh and absolutely delicious.

My wife was in town and we wanted to do a seafood feast! Disappointed!! No crab of any kind! Prices were higher then I have ever seen them. We will go back and give it another chance though. First time the have ever disappointed us. When We go back I will post another review.

First off, this is not fine dining. The seafood is excellent. The choices are abundant and it's all fresh, but this is not a sit down, linen cloth restaurant. It's more like a diner attached to a market. It's very casual. Seats about 40 people. You can come in buy fresh seafood or order something to eat and sit down. I like sitting by the window and watching people walk by. I had pan seared scallops (perfect) and fried Oysters for an app, along with a local brew and it all came to $26.00. It's in West Seattle on California street. There's a great pie place across the street as well called Shoofly.

In Seattle on business and how could you not want to eat fish?? Drove by this place en route to another place but we decided to eat here and we were both happy. Fresh, real fresh fish on display on ice ready to to sold to take home or to prepare for you. Smallish but with decent table space and an assortment of beer and wine plus flavored sodas. The staff is friendly and the prices are very decent. Choices for lunch can be grilled or fried. I opted for the traditional "Fish and Chips" but I chose one cod and one salmon. Mix and match at no extra cost. Fries come with the order. The fish was well battered and beautifully fried golden. Very crispy and tasty. Don't discount the coleslaw. It was yummy! If you go make sure you bring a cooler with some ice so you can take some fresh fish home. Enjoy!

My wife and I live within walking distance and quite often stop by to pick up fresh fish to cook on the grill. They always have a great selection of salmon, tuna, halibut, etc.. Additionally the shellfish options such as clams, mussels, crab, etc is great too. When the opened up their small restaurant we began sampling various items on the menue and have always been pleased. It's great to have a wonderful place so close by. We'll be back very soon!!

Having eaten at a number of restaurants which are linked to a fish selling business I was disappointed on this occasion. Normally they understand how much or little the fish needs to be cooked to be at its best. We ordered 1 seared tuna and 1 fried halibut. You have to pay when ordering, given a number and can sit at any free table. If we had not paid we would definitely not left any tip! Two couples which entered about 15/20 minutes after we sat down got their food before us. The Tuna which should have been seared was "beyond well done" to the point of being brown on the outsides, dry and basically wasted a good tuna steak. The halibut was better but slightly over cooked. No one came and asked if the meal was ok. As we were leaving the man behind the order counter did not even look up, thank you for the custom or anything. Overall I was left feeling this was a place of past good food but the people running it have lost pride in their cooking. Only plus was the chips were well cooked and well seasoned.

I think this is one of the best clam chowders in Seattle! The seafood is fresh and good prices accompanied with friendly service.

A charming place that is fishmarket combined with restaurant. You may select whatever fresh fish or seafood you would like and they will cook it for you on the premises. I was fortunate enough to come in when they had halibut cheeks. They are the filet mignon of halibut. It was cooked in a garlic and olive oil sauce and it was amazing. The waitstaff is extremely friendly and helpful. I will be back.

My wife and I love seafood and we've eaten here several times while a remodel caused us to relocate temporarily to West Seattle. Their fish tacos are absolutely to die for. Everything is super fresh and they don't scrimp on the fish. At $9 for a pair, it's a great deal. We've also feasted on their fish and chips. Lightly breaded does the trick and cooked to perfection. We definitely recommend Seattle Fish Company to family and friends.

Good selection of seafood dishes for lunch or dinner in a casual setting. I especially like the fish and chips, fish tacos, and cioppino. Add to that the fresh fish and shell fish offerings and you have a good combination

Terribly disappointing. We ordered the lobster sandwich, fish tacos, a bowl of clam chowder and some oyster shooters. The oysters were good, perhaps due to the fact that they were raw, therefore they hadn't been ruined in the kitchen....the chowder is okay at best, nothing special for sure. Slight burnt flavor suggests it's been simmering far too long in a giant pot in the back. The fish tacos are simply bad. Is this cole slaw from KFC on top of the fish? Gross. What a horrible representation. As if my meal hadn't been disappointing enough, the lobster sandwich has no flavor of lobster, rather it should come with an iodine warming as I'm afraid the cook may have lost his shaker of salt.... OMG, this might have been the worst dinner I've attempted to eat in years. All around very poor experience, and $55 before tip...but the 2 beers were cold, so I will end this review on a positive note! And rest assured, next time I will definitely continue past the fish company!

The ambience is helter skelter, the seating is cramped and scant, but the food is great. Service was friendly. The prices are not cheap, but it tasted fresh and there was plenty to eat. The menu is limited, but one does not go there to pick from Column A and Column B.

This is a super casual place to go for fresh fish in West Seattle. It appeared as though one normally orders at the counter, but we were lucky enough to have table service. And super friendly service it was. Our food was excellent - crab cakes, salmon chowder, poutine and seared scallops. The Pilsner was very light. This is not a downtown tourist spot by any stretch of the imagination. We’re talking paper napkins in dispensers on the tables. So happy we made the effort to get to West Seattle!

This was my first time to eat here. It will not be my last. This is probably the best seafood I have had in Seattle. Simply perfect. Served by some of the friendliest and most polite people you will encounter.

Not exactly an elegant dining experience--you order at the same register where you'd be buying your fresh fish to take home (and it's a great store for that!), but the fish is served fresh, fast, and hot. The fries, cole slaw, and tartar are all good. You can order extra tacos and the fish and chips is available in one, two, and three piece servings. They have a lot of other options which I've not had, but I'm willing to bet they're pretty darned good. They've got some sidewalk tables, beer, cider, wine, and a wide selection of soft drinks.

Everything was over cooked. The halibut was nearly black, rather than a golden brown. My oysters (3 medium size) po' boy was expensive and the oysters were nearly burnt and very dry. The bread seemed like it was gotten on the day old rack or worse. The slaw was ok as was the beer. The fries were cold and over salted. Not a good experience.

I ordered fried oysters and coleslaw and small cup of clam chowder. It was wonderful. My family got 3 different kinds of seafood basket and fries and salmon fish and chips. They loved their food as well. It was worth heading there for lunch. Good recommendation from one of my family. Strongly recommend to go there. Service was fast and good.

We "Discovered" the Seattle Fish Company while we were searching for a new home in Greater Seattle. And I have to say that the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff were—in some small way—a part of our decision to narrow our home search to West Seattle. I have yet to order anything that tastes less than delicious...having now become a regular since moving to WS in October. Make sure to visit them next time you're on the West Side.

I live locally in West Seattle and really enjoy the Seattle Fish Company. I typically get the cod fish and chips, along with a glass of wine. Nothing fancy, but always tasty.

I usually check the reviews when checking restaurants. This one was a disappointment. The smoked salmon chowder...should have been called stew, no liquid at all and extremely salty! I think it was the bottom of the pot...if so, we should have been told so we could have ordered something else. Next, the fish tacos. They were loaded with mixed fish, cabbage and then drizzled with a spicy mayo. The fish was all overcooked, so very dense, the mayo too spicy, it did add flavor however. Just overall completely the most disappointing meal we have had while in Seattle. Just down the street is an amazing Pizza Restaurant...CREDO...that place was amazing! Wish we had gone there again!

Seattle Fish Company is a joint where the locals hang out. Us locals have voluminous options of places to buy and eat fish, so take note when you see how well patronized this place is by locals. The atmosphere is spartan, but it is uber clean, and there are interesting things to look at on the walls, etc. But of course the attraction is the freshness of the fish and the dandy menu they offer. Their Happy Hour is fantastically priced from 2-5pm. I can't say enough good things about their fish tacos, they are still the best that I have ever had anywhere at any price. (Truth be told, I think I order them almost once a week!) I believe that the fish tacos are $7 on the Happy Hour special… and you can add a decent glass of prosecco to that for only another $3! The staff is prompt and courteous. They have a smidge of outdoor seating right there on California Avenue which is the core of the Best of West Seattle… so stay awhile and stroll up and down California Avenue and see West Seattle. It's one of Seattle's cherished 'hoods.

Great to find a place dedicated to seafood. May be a bit pricey but very good. Try the fish and chips and Oyster Po'boy.

Went for lunch with family. Several different dishes were ordered and everyone was happy. Obviously fresh fish prepared well in a variety of styles. A little pricey for cafeteria style but the fresh fish makes that worthwhile. Atmosphere could be improved.

I always try to eat here when I come to West Seattle. The tacos, made with fish or prawns, are really good. I have also had the salmon and the fish and chips. These were also delicious.

We had lunch at Seattle FIsh Co. on Labor Day. It's a casual place in West Seattle with a fairly large menu. I enjoyed the smoked salmon chowder. It's reasonably priced and service is good. After lunch, we decided to buy some smoked salmon. It was also very good. We recommend

This is the best fish and chips in West Seattle especially if you love panko style like we do. Plus, there's a fish happy hour with reduced prices for fish and chips, clam chowder and some drinks. Quantities are the same, unlike some happy hours that cheat customers out of a full portion with the reduced prices. Very casual with excellent service from a happy staff.

Wanting a seafood experience, we picked the Seattle Fish Co. in West Seattle. I enjoyed the chowder while Chase went for the fried oysters, scallops and clams. So good!

stopped here cause we were craving fresh seafood after a long day at work and happened to be in West Seattle which we rarely get to. Well we will definitely be making the trip over more often. The Cioppino is fantastic, and my husband loves good Cioppino and he said it was 'the best'. I had the fish tacos and though not huge the two tacos with the slightly spicy chipotle sauce is so fresh and good. The couple next to us were having a platter of fresh mussels that looked great. Very limited seating and very low key casual. We noticed a lot of people were getting take-out or delivery thru BiteSquad. Highly recommend - we will be back

Chanced upon the Seattle Fish Company looking for a light dinner after a long flight from the east coast. Wandered in as the owner, Jon, was closing up for the night. He welcomed us in anyway, asked what we wanted, and went back and brought us out a big bowl of the best clam chowder we've ever eaten. Not only did he not try to rush us through our meal, but he stayed and talked to us for quite a while. We were very impressed with him and this wonderful place. We couldn't have asked for a better introduction to this beautiful city.

I beg to go out to eat here every time I visit Seattle. I’ve always raved about it, giving it 5 stars every time...until now. Maybe it was because December is not the best time to find fresh seafood or perhaps because it was the Thursday after Christmas, or maybe the regular cook wasn’t working, but it was worse than a Red Lobster. Fried fish was burnt, fried clams were like Mrs. Paul’s, and the oysters and prawns were tiny. Normally huge succulent clams and oysters, immaculately prepared, I was embarrassed I made my friends cross the bridge for this less than special trip. Going back to Texas and cook my own.

For years, I've gravitated toward Ivar's and Spud's Fish and Chips for a quick seafood lunch and never tried Seattle Fish Company until a trip one week ago. Love it! I ordered the fish and chips and a cup of clam chowder. All were fresh and tasty. The service was fast and friendly. You can also buy fresh fish here, and the cuts look beautiful.

We loved everything we ate at this diner style restaurant. In particular the crab, salmon and halibut cakes were so mouthwatering well prepared! That this is a must go restaurant! The only reason why we gave them less than 5 points has to do with the loudness of the sounds/music/ acoustics in the diner/restaurant. We asked for the music to be lowered and the wait staff did so, but just a little bit and still it was difficult to hear our friends conversation across the table.

I’m not the kind of person that quibbles over a bill, but today I had one of the most dismissive, rude interactions I’ve ever had in a restaurant establishment. I live locally in West Seattle and I put in an order for takeout for fish and chips and crab mac & cheese. On the website the price for crab mac & cheese was clearly listed at $16. When I went to pay the bill the cost was significantly higher ($25) and I questioned difference. I was told that I must’ve had the wrong website and that it was definitely not their menu with those prices. I did not have my phone with me so after I paid I went back out to my vehicle, where my family was waiting, double checked that I was in fact on the seattlefishcompany.com website menu and not anywhere else. I even went so far as to type in manually seattlefishcompany.com. And yes, I was correct... and I triple checked my correctness before writing this review. The menu linked directly from their website did in fact price the crab mac & cheese at $16. I went back in to let them know that it was in fact wrong on their menu. I showed the gentleman, who I believe is the owner, what I was looking at and asked if that was in fact their website. (It clearly was.) He quickly looked at the menu on my phone and said no. He was completely dismissive and muttered something about calling their IT guy. I am a person who likes to give people the benefit of the doubt, but at no point did I feel like anything other than a woman they wanted to have pay the bill (of whatever price they wanted based on their chalkboard menu, regardless of whether or not it was consistent with their website prices which I based my order on) and move on to the next order. In the short time we have lived in West Seattle I have spent hundreds of dollars purchasing seafood at the Seattle fish company. Because of today’s experience I will never return. Even small amount of genuine consideration would have preserved that customer relationship. Unfortunately, that didn’t occur. I won’t be returning to an establishment that thinks so little of their customers.

The the greeter server was yawning as she took our order. The chipino was servedluke warm so we sent it back to be heated up,this was also mentioned in another review. The side plate for the bread had 5 chips in it, and they are still using it to serve? The fish and chips were fine but the general attitude of the staff and the issues above mean we won't go back. Restaurant prices with bad service, food not served hot and old chipped played. Could do better.

Our question to ourselves is always, “Why don’t we come here more often?” The seafood here is always fresh and prepared perfectly. And the prices are reasonable. It is located just at the north outskirts of the West Seattle Junction and is somewhat nondescript in its look…but worth looking for.

This is a small deli and market. The fish tacos were fantastic. Its not pricey and the food is good. Take time to sit on the patio and enjoy the food.

Jewel in the rough... and I hope it stays that way. I could see walking past this little fish market turned fish bar and not giving it a second thought. But you'd be missing out on some of the better, fresher seafood in Seattle at a price that can't be beat. This is exactly what Seattle is lacking. Hole in the wall shops selling great quality at reasonable prices... hold the "Wrought iron, ironic theme, and "Best mac and cheese" (or is it anything with pork belly these days? I've lost track of the trends) and just give me good food. The owner and staff are on it and ready to make you feel like friends just popped in for a visit. (Not that I care, you can openly insult me if you're bringing me good food. I'm tired of the whiners doling out 1 star to restaurants because they didn't make friends with the waiter) Their fish and chips are better than anything you're going to find on the waterfront. The fries alone make them better than 90% of what's offered. Mussels were plump and properly seasoned with a healthy dose of parsley to brighten them up. The oyster poboy was more than a meal with its generous serving of panko battered oysters, still tender and juicy, accompanied by a fresh, high quality mixed green salad with housemade vinaigrette. Stop in, don't let the fluorescent lights fool you.

Last summer I wrote a poor review based on a lunch experience with the food and service. I vowed never to go back for a meal. Last month I called and found they had fresh whole crab. The woman who took my order weighed the 2 crabs and they came out to about 3.5 pounds. They were wonderful. A few days later we needed more crab. The man who took the order said he had a limited supply of fresh crab and would then sell previously frozen. Said it was good I called. He told me the crabs each weighed 2 pounds even though he had not weighed them. I agreed paid with credit card and arranged a pickup time. When I arrived order was not ready. Never had been handled. Same person who I think is one of the owners did not apologize and grabbed 3 crabs did not weigh them and charged me for 2 pounds each which they were not and one was missing a claw. At those prices you want the whole carb. The whole experience was sleazy.

We loved stopping here for some fish and chips. That batter was crisp and the fish was cooked to perfection. What a great place to have in this trendy neighborhood!

A well stocked fish market with a small seating area and a menu with a surprising variety of options. Sandwiches, chowders and soups, grilled fish, and more. We were hungry for fish and chips, but shared a crab cake, just to check it out. There is a choice of cod or salmon for the fish and chips so I had one piece of each. The pieces were generous and tasted very fresh, the panko coating was crisp and the fries were good. The crab cake was SO good- minimal coating so the crab was the star. It came with a decent amount of cole slaw that was crisp and vinegar based, not full of mayonnaise. Yay! The staff were friendly and helpful, the prices were decent and the food was just what we were hoping for. Will go back again to try the fish tacos.

In one visit we have a poind of fresh steamed clams, a dozen pefectly grilled oysters in the shell, and the largest Cod fish and chips. Total= $29. Are you crazy? NO! The shellfush is fresh, fresh, fresh out of Puget Sound. The Pacific Cod is, well, reslly fresh. No need to settle for some tourist trap, head to West Seattle for you fish fantasies. Ya sure, you betcha!

We were looking for great fresh seafood and this hit the spot. I had the grilled sea scallops which were very tender. The side was grilled potatoes and vegetables with lots of garlic - very tasty.

Was looking for really good fish and chips. Tried Seattle Fish Co with my sister and two nieces. The food was just ok for something they specialize in, but nothing to brag about. Service was ok, place could have used a little cleaning.

Fresh fish, fresh fish....need I say more not the local tourist place...funky few tables but well worth the wait in any case...fish and chips could not have been better?.

You can buy fresh seafood here or indulge in something already cooked. We enjoyed a wonderful bowl of clam chowder with a cold beer and fried clams on the side. This local favorite is worth the walk or drive.

I like to try fish and chips at just about any place. Here I had the halibut, and it was very good and perfectly cooked. I ordered a salad with it and they brought out fries instead, but I eventually got the salad. I just know I’ll eat the fries if they are in front of me and I was trying to eat a little healthier.

Stafg treated us very right from the time we entered. They were able to explain what each dish had and were able to help us decide what we would like to order. Great place and will be back the nexy time I am in Seattle!

For happy hour, we had a couple of draft beers ($3, very good), oyster shooters ($2 each), crab cocktail ($9, very good) and cod fish and chips ($7). We were a little disappointed in the fish and chips. The coating was crunchy but they were a little overcooked and the fish was a bit rubbery. Based upon our experience, we would prefer to return to Salty's when looking for happy hour in West Seattle.

Well not the great table by the water but it does not matter. I had wonderful seafood and if I lived here I would be eating here, getting takeout, or buying my seafood here. I did not get a chance but the mussels looked quite good.

Always a good meal at Seattle Fish. I usually get the fish tacos. We will alos get the fish special, crabs, or calamari. Good choice of beers. Outside seating is great, especially if you bring your dog.

The Seattle Fish Company is our neighborhood treasure in West Seattle. I have bought fish and shell fish there numerous times. The quality has always been very good. I cannot remember ever being disappointed in anything I have purchased there. Their prices are not cheap, but they are extremely reasonable for the excellent quality you receive. They also have an excellent selection of seafood in a very nice environment. Parking near their store is also never a problem.

I have probably purchased fish and shell fish at the Seattle Fish Company about five times the past year. The last time was about a week ago. I purchased clams and mussels. Everything I have purchased has always been fresh and full of flavor. This place is an asset to our West Seattle community. If I want the best and freshest seafood this is the place I visit. I have also eaten once at its restaurant. Excellent fish and chips!

Seattle Fish Company sells fish to take home but you can also eat there. We had halibut, salmon and oysters. All were great. The french fries are outragious! No atmosphere but if you want great seafood, it's worth it.

Nothing fancy, just good fish and chips. Very good fried oysters. Friendly service. Worth a trip to West Seattle.

We stopped by to buy a salmon filet for dinner. The selection was great and there were many seasonings available to help with dinner preparations.

We had to go back to Seattle Fish to enjoy the wide variety of fish. There was cod, haddock and salmon Fish and chips. One of us order the Salmon fish and chips ad the other guest chose the cod. The tartar sauce was the icing on the cake. The cold slaw was tasty. Since I was traveling with my daughter, she wanted to go back to a favorite place. The fish market has a great variety of fish. The fresh oysters and clams and mussels looked very tempting.

Our group of three ordered various dishes and all were tasty. My seared tuna was excellent! Order off the chalkboard, but look for the specials of the day. Menu items are fairly priced.

For years we had been ordering fish from John sent to our home in Illinois. When our daughter moved to Seattle, we asked where his market was, and it was only a short distance from our daughter's home! We visited the restaurant/market and met the man we had been speaking to on the phone for over five years. We have had lunch there several times. The service is most friendly, portions are healthy, and food is excellent, prices fair and moderate. We love Seattle Fish!

Half seafood market/half restaurant - stopped by after checking out other sights. Friendly staff and really good seafood. Best fish tacos I have ever had - little spicy but delicious. Also, had dungeness crab cocktail also delish and tried cod fish & chips - not a fan of panko but the fish was good.

If you are in West Seattle and want really fresh seafood you will find it here. Their fish and chips are generous portions and aren’t too breads - at $15 for a 3 piece order it’s more than reasonable. Good wine choices (go with the House Cab) and while the atmosphere is way casual it’s a nice change of pace from the more gentrified places in the area.

Ordered fish to be delivered overnight. Ordered from them in the past, no problems, but this time, my order shows up a day late and mostly spoiled. Can not get them to replace the lost fish, or even send a receipt so I can get the shipping back from FedEx. John says he will take care of it every time I call, then does nothing. Its been months. Terrible business!

Loved both times we've gone! No frills, but fresh tasting meals. Hmmmmmmmm, I should plan another trip!

Everything is fresh from steamed clams, oysters in the shell (grilled or raw), fish & chips, etc... This place is also allergy friendly for DSW as will grill the fish and fries are cooked in Canola.

They have great halibut and chips good selection of beer and cider's along with fresh fish for sale great staff friendly helpful happy
