Great food

By cathy8882018 |

I love their kimchee pancake. It's so yummy. Everytime I went there, this is my favorite. This restaurant is not fancy, but the food is good.

Not great...BiBimBap was a letdown

By Nick |

My family loves Korean food. We all ordered different things but none of them were great. The pork bulgogi sauce wasn’t flavorful and the meat was fatty. The bibimbap also lacked flavor. The dol sot pot wasn’t stone either. The waiter was friendly but the owners weren’t. Not a good place to eat.

Authentic Korean fare

By Tim K |

I lived in South Korea for many years, and I can attest that this food is as authentic and as tasty as I had experienced in Korea. Most of the sauces and kim chee are essentially home-made, which really adds to the taste. It is located in an old run-down building, but the food, along with the very courteous staff makes up for that. Highly recommend for families.

Best Korean food in the Sam Houston Area

By Kaoba |

If you are there for lunch, get the lunch box. You will not be disappointed. The lunch box has plenty for a good price. I could not finish my Bulgogi lunch box. You'll receive your order (in my case, bulgogi) in a tray with rice, kimchee, rice noodles, pot stickers, and I can't remember the rest but, you can see for yourself in the photo attached.

Not Good At All!!

By Greg G |

I read the reviews and decided to visit this place. First of all, the place wasn't clean...the bathroom looked like the ones you find at the gas stations. The service was terrible and the food was average/overpriced. By far this is the worst Korean placed I've visited in San Antonio!!

Lunch with friends

By Alejandro B |

Stopped by here today with some friends to eat lunch. The waitress had a really bad attitude from the time we walked in to when we left. She got our drink orders in, which came wrong, then our food order was wrong. Not sure how you can mess that up since they are numbered and she repeated it back to us. My buddy ordered something extra but that never came until he got up and went to the counter to ask for it. We never saw our waitress again after she dropped off the food. Not sure what the deal was today but this place has definitely gone downhill. Not sure if I'll go back again. I might just try a different place next time. I'm sure they will have better service compared to this establishment.

Amazing

I took two friends here as they had never had Korean food before and one was about to move there for a little more than a year. Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted and told there would be a 30-45 minute wait. The smell was so incredible they immediately agreed to wait. We were seated within 5 minutes, and had food within 15 from there. Apparently they were concerned about a backup in the kitchen as they were serving a party of 20, and frequently checked on us and apologized. The food was amazing, the selection of sides it comes with delicious and with more variety than most (with free refills), and service was attentive and polite without hovering. I was worth the hour drive each way. I would bring people here without hesitation.

repeat visit

i went there for the first time when seoul garden was still a bbq and korean restaurant ad gave it a good review, especially the korean food. since then i have taken several friends on different occasions and they have come back on their own. my favorite is the kalbi as well as the pancake and the excellent selection of banche dishes. the place is not fancy, but places like this serve the best food.the service has always been attentive. i will continue to visit this restaurant and bring my friends.

Great Korean food!

By Nick P |

My family and I just returned from South Korea after living there for 2 years. Needless to say, we were craving Korean food and figured we would try Seoul Garden, as it was right around the corner. I had their spicy pork bulgogi, and it was delicious. I'd also like to mention that they give you a good amount, as I couldn't finish it. The sides that came before the meal were delicious. My wife and I agreed that the kim chi (both cabbage and cucumber) were the best we've ever had. My wife said her hot bibimbap was the best she's ever had, and she's had a lot, as her mother is Korean. We will be coming back and I highly recommend it.

Just what we needed

While in town for a family funeral, we noticed the sign down the road. Had lunch after the services and were sooo pleased. The first impression was great when one enters the place and it is FULL of local Koreans. THAT set the tone. A true Mom and Pop place with excellent food. The portions are ENORMOUS and the kimchee was great. Spicy pork was excellent; kalbi was tender, not burnt. Fried dumplings, Mmmm! Definitely one to come back to in the future

Great Korean Restaurant!

Been eating here for 10 years. Not once have I had bad service or food. The staff is great as is the food. I spent some time in Korea so I know the food. I enjoy every visit.

LOVING SEOUL GARDEN for it's Authentic Korean Food

By Amanda CG |

As my daughter spent a year in South Korea, while she was gone my husband and I would go to our favorite Seoul a Garden restaurant and eat the spicy seafood soup and the Bidibop hot pot. Now that my daughter is back we visit this restaurant at least three times a week, can't get enough!

Mediocre

By Georgiagirl |

Me and a couple of friends gave this establishment a try. Our waiter was excellent and the food was good, except for my order being wrong and also hair being found in one of my friend's plate. They replaced the dish but that and also finding out they don't wear hair nets ended the meal. My friends, no minus myself, returned the following weeks and was highly disappointed by the food. They were given smaller portions and food tasted below average.

Seoul satisfying

Seoul Garden wasn't our first choice for Korean food, but due to Hurricane Harvey, Koreana next door had closed earlier than usual. Not a big problem except the cravings were unrelenting after a cancelled flight, and long car ride. Dad, daughter, and I were starving! Walking into Seoul Garden was almost like walking into a Korean restaurant years ago in Korea with paper partitions separating dining tables. We were warmly greeted by the owners a husband and wife team, and seated right away. The menu is loaded with the great Korean dishes you'd want to have in Korea, and most Korean places stateside would offer. We decided on the kimchi jeon (pancake), double order of fried dumplings (mandu), bbq pork (daegi bulgogi), and cold buckwheat noodles (mul naymyung). The ban chan was plentiful, and fresh, especially the kimchi. I've noticed more places offering Americanized ban chan, which is eh to me, but I take that as appeasing to newer tastebuds to Korean food. The kimchi pancake was the size of a small pizza, and full of kimchi, without all the heavy batter. Crispy, crunchy, and creamy. The mandu weren't homemade, but were still crispy, and tasty. The pork bulgogi was spicy, not watered down and overall great tasting. The reason I was a bit disappointed by the experience is because my order of the cold buckwheat noodle dish never came :( The owner didn't hear my order for it when he was taking our orders. By the time I shared the kimchi jeon, and most of the ban chan, I wasn't as ravenous. We weren't charged for the missing food. Service was attentive, and friendly, without being overdone. The food was some of the better we've had in San Antonio in a while. Almost as good as some of the now long gone restaurants that we grew to love in San Antonio. Parking isn't a big deal, and they offer delivery!

Hidden Gem

IMO This place is one of the top two Korean restaurants in the SA area. Having lived in Korea and visited many times since, there are certain things you expect from a Korean Restaurant. The most important thing is the Banchan (side dishes), here you receive a varied selection and plenty of it. If you run out, just ask for more. Other places in town charge you for these dishes, which should tell you it is not true Korean. The lunch boxes provide a variety of sides with the main dish and the dinner portions provide more than enough food for two people. Recommend the spicy pork Bulgogi for the adventurous and the beef Bulgogi for those less daring. One of the new items on the menu is the Korean fried chicken, a must try! Be forewarned, it is a whole chickens worth of fried goodness covered in a medium Korean spicy sauce.

Very Good Korean Food!!

This place is off the hook, super kind staff, very authentic Korean dishes, cooked to perfection, and the Chunga-Moo kim-Chee was the best, would go again and again if in San Antonio!!

Night Out for AMAZING Korean FOOD

By Amanda CG |

This is definately our go to restraunt trying to eat here 3 times a month. Well worth the price you pay. You come away totally full!! My husband always orders the spicy seafood bowl, my son and I always order the Hot Bidbop pot, and we order short ribs La Kalbi. DELICIOUS!!

NASTY!

By AIMLESS12 |

Ugh-hoping for some great Korean lunch—saw Koreana was closed, so gave this next door neighbor a try. Booooooo. Man with visible dirt under nails dropped off beverage with hand them over rim-yuck; decor a mish-mash of dirty looking odd stuff on walls—strange lightbulbs that don’t match; food ok, but lost appetite after server hand-plopped some kimchi back into the bowl that was over the side; hard to enjoy with constant killing of gnats job. Skip this one; they need to get it together. :(

Good Korean Food - Bad Service and Air - BBQ Turned Korean?

By WHDSM |

Went for lunch after church January 25, 2015 and they were open on Sundays unlike the Koreana next door. First impressions were not well and the thought was that this is a place for Chef Robert Irvine and the Restaurant Impossible team. An older dilapidated, what appears to be, revamped Texas BBQ restaurant is now a Korean food restaurant starting January 1, 2015 according to the sign hanging on the door. The Korean food was great! The chicken teriyaki was not good at all. The waitress took my wives plate to another table, the place has maybe 10 tables, so that was hard to accept. Not to mention when we first arrived there were two other tables with people besides us. If I had my choice, I would eat at the Koreana again and not this place. Once it got full with other patrons, the smoke started to burn our eyes and we then felt rushed to leave. Poor ventilation, among other things. We will not be eating here again until the theme changes, better service, and ventilation of cooking happens. It may be better by now. Hope it helps and if it does, give a thumbs up! I gotta say this is some great Korean food! Truly enjoyed it! The food was great! Best in San Antonio! Went with family after running around and the service wasn't bad either.

Great Authentic Korean food

By yuhoo7 |

Authentic, delicious, and very large portions of Korean food. You get a bunch of mini korean starter dishes after youvplace your order. The service here is great. The menu is pretty broad encompassing most of your favorite authentic korean dishes. I ordered the jjangbong, spicy seafood noodle soup. It came out in a gigantic bowl. The broth was flavorful and very spicy. They didnt skimp on the seafood they put in the noodle soup. They put a bunch of noodles in there too. I couldnt finish the bowl, even though i had given my coworker some of my noodles to try. I'd highly recommend this place.

Outstanding experience

By Texstud |

My family and I decided to go to this restaurant because it was close and had good reviews. The food was outstanding. Very traditional/authentic. Had the (very) spicy seafood soup and bulgogi along with the several traditional sides. Large servings, even enough to take home for a later feast. Restaurant building itself is not new, so don't expect fancy digs, but the food more than compensates for it. This is family restaurant and Mrs. Lee, the chef is very friendly. Our server, Angela, was an excellent waitress. She checked on our needs often without being intrusive. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to have true Korean food that hasn't been watered down.

Pleasantly surprising....

By catj2016 |

Tried the restaurant for the 1st time for lunch yesterday. The server, Angela provided excellent, courteous service. She was warm, friendly and patient. She was very attentive ensuring our drinks were topped off and that we are enjoying our meal. The food delicious and we were informed they have weekday daily lunch specials. Planning on return visits. Would have been over the top had they offer military discount. Highly recommend if you are looking for good korean cuisine.

Mixed feelings

By melcav57 |

Our first visit to Seoul Garden... the food is tasty. I ordered the Chicken Bulgogi, marinated chicken and veggies in a spicy pepper sauce. Excellent taste, although I had to make an extended trip to the bathroom soon after eating. My man friend had the Beef Bulgogi, and he said there was quite a bit of gristle in his dish. Loved the Steamed Dumplings that we had as an appetizer! The ambience is casual and noisy. I'm not sure that a return trip is in our future... mixed feelings.

Corean Food

Great service but the food was just average. Nice big portions, but missing taste to it. They have just started and may improve. I wouldn't go back.

Great Korean Buffet

Amazing New Find

By Oasis320 |

The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. Our meals came out as they were ready, not all together. I had the spicy seafood soup which was in a large enough bowl to feed a family of four. It comes in two spice levels- regular and mild. For me, the regular was perfect, lots of noodles and seafood. My husband's chicken cutlet was also tasty. This spot will definitely be one we hit up again and again.
