Very Korean!

By patronatx |

Food is great and the service better. Good atmosphere; good selection and private rooms for large parties or just for more privacy.

Mediocre food and service

The food was mediocre as well as the service. Wine was terrible, did not try the desserts. I would not reccomand it......

Best Bibimbap I've Had in Years

By Beedapox |

I am really fond of Korean food. I don't get to eat it that often simply because there aren't that many places where I live or work. With my day off, I met my wife at Seoul Garden for lunch. We arrive at 11:30 and were seated promptly. My wife ordered the bulgogi lunch special and I had the bibimbap. Our food arrived very quickly, was hot and flavorful. The bibimbap was served in a sizzling bowl and was a downright joy to consume. Be forewarned that the this order comes with a raw egg on top. You mix it all together and then dive in. With tip we were out of there for just over $30 including tip. We will be going back.

Very pleased with our lunch

By Swimfins |

We called in a to go order for lunch this week and both got the regular hot stone pot bibimbap. The portion was generous, and we liked the amount and quality of the vegetables in the bowl (some other places use cheaper or fewer vegetables). The price was reasonable and they did a good job packing the order for takeaway.

Best Korean BBQ in town

By Daniel L |

I've gone to Seoul Garden for over 15 years and this restaurant is and has always been top notch for Korean BBQ. Bone-less ribs (chumulok) is outstanding, If you've never tried the unseasoned beef (Cha-dol-baegie) then you have not lived!!! Best soft-tofu seafood soup (hae mul soon-du-bu jigae) in town, and for a special treat, try the tofu with stir fried kimchi and pork.

Felt like I was in Korea again.

What a nice surprise. Found this place on TA and took the family for lunch. The kids had never had Korean food before so it was an adventure. Location - lots of Korean places in the area to choose from. The restaurant was clean, and decorated nicely, not at all garish with a large amount of tables. The food was very very good. Ordered theDaeji Bul-go-gi and the Dahg Gui after sappetizers of Gyoza and Shrimp Tempura (yes I know those were not Korean). The Gyoza was average, a little over cooked. The Tempura was very good, light tempura batter, 3 large shrimp, and very fresh sweet potatoes, onions and peppers. The Bul go-gi and Dahg Gui were quite good, we barbecued at the table with fresh lettuce for wrapping and a very large assortment of Kim-chi's. We also ordered a very nice Bi-bim-bap, I really liked the fresh egg yolk that I stirred into the hot beef, So very good. I recommend this place highly if you want a traditional Korean meal. We will go back.

Worth the drive

Coming into Houston we chose this restaurant for lunch. It didn't disappoint at all. Great food. Friendly and quick service. Decent prices.

Great experience

By Rgvmom77 |

This is our first experience with Korean cuisine and it definitely made a very good impression. We ordered several dishes to try and liked all but one, clear noodles is probably a little too much for our undeveloped palate. The service was wonderful, very accommodating, friendly and helpful. Fell in love with the zucchini pancake, bi bim bahp and plum wine.

Reminds me of Korea

By LIETIE |

Had to stop in for a try! I hadn't been here in years. We shared bulgoki and a chicken dish with the traditional sides. It was a walk down memory lane to my years of living in Korea. Very authentic! I will be back!

Authentic Korean Food and Lots of Options

By Janell C |

I was really craving Korean Food and a Korean friend of mine suggested this restaurant. I was greeted by very friendly staff that spoke good English. They have a very extensive menu and lots of different types of dishes to choose from. Noodle dishes, rice dishes, soups, Korean BBQ, etc... The waitress tried talking me out of what I had chosen because she didn't think I would like it. If I had been inexperienced with Korean food, I would have really respected her help, but I knew I what was ordering. I assured her that I had had it before and I liked it. She brought out a variety of side dishes, and I loved trying all of it. I was a little dissappointed in the kimche, but the rest of the dishes were really good. I ordered a black bean paste stew with seafood and tofu as my main course. It came out in a boiling hot pot and continued to boil for quite some time. It took a while for it to cool off enough to eat, so I kept enjoying the side dishes in the mean time. My entree was very flavorful and just the right amount. This restaurant is large and can accomodate big groups. I also liked that there were quite a few people there but it was still really quiet and pleasant. I also liked that the waitresses didn't bother me much. They just let me enjoy my food and didn't hover.

Excellent authentic Korean food

By Linda A |

I had lunch here after a business trip, and the food was excellent! It was prepared just like the Korean food I had growing up. The menu is extensive and varied. I especially enjoyed the daeja bulgoki (spicy pork stir fry) on the grill in the middle of the table. The condiments were also delicious, and the service was great.

Cheated on the Card purchase

By Camper60031008401 |

Recently they increased the prices with fewer dishes, also cheat on promotion cards to charge ahead then wiped out the remaining balance that I wasted my money. Will not go to this place again.

Yummy Korean BBQ

By Sltrial |

Menu was both in English and Korean and had photos of the dishes, which was helpful. We had thin beef and pork belly which we grilled at the table. The meal came with rice, miso soup, Kimche and other vegetables and dipping sauce. Both meats were good. Also had fried wantons. A restaurant with authentic feel. Our waiter spoke a little English and was nice.

Best authentic Korean food in Houston

By Samuel L |

I'm an avid Korean food nut. I've been to Korean restaurants in Los Angeles, NYC and SF. Seoul Garden in Houston is better than all of them. These guys are consistently good if you enjoy side dishes. They make the side dishes taste like you're in Seoul. I've taken dozens of friends and family here over many years and it's so much better than any of the other Houston Korean restaurants.

Traditional Korean Food

By Great_Beer_Now |

It’s not often that I go out for Korean food. There aren’t many restaurants from which to choose and the finicky, American food crowd I normally hang with finds Korean food a little too unusual to consider. But a recent meetup with a book club that I run gave me the excuse I needed to schedule a visit to a Korean restaurant, since the featured book was also Korean. Our dining spot of choice was Seoul Garden, located in the Houston Spring Branch area. Seoul Garden features a warm, inviting interior and several private spaces for groups. There is a warm vibe here, like you are dining in someone’s home. The menu is extensive, with each item spelled out in Korean and in English. To avoid confusion when ordering, there is a letter and number next to each item, so you don’t need to worry about properly pronouncing the words. When a member of the wait staff comes to your table, just say the letter and number, and you can feel good that the lunch or dinner you order will be correct. With the food dishes, the sizes and prices vary widely, and this is good because it means you can tailor your order to fit your appetite and budget. Most everything comes with a bowl of steamed rice and an assortment of vegetable- based sides. With my group, the sides were set out in two sections of the table, so that everyone could dig in. It was fun trying some of the items, like the fermented cabbage. These are things I would normally not have a chance to order, since it is so infrequent that I dine at this type of restaurant. For my main order, on this first visit I went for the Bibimbap, which is rice with beef, assorted vegetables, and gochujang. It was interesting and quite earthy, which is a term that could be used to explain most of the foods. The taste, the scent, and most everything else let you know that mother Earth is where we are all bound. My only issue with the food dish that I ordered is that it contained very little beef. Next time, I will likely order something else, something with more meat. And trust me, there are menu options that overflow with meat, you just need to know what to order. To help with your selection, most every main dish has a small picture on the menu, labeled with the same number and letter described above. From this, you can get a better idea of what will be included in your item. Beer choices are limited at Seoul Garden and there are no craft beer options, which is a disappointment. I recommend instead ordering Korean rice wine or some other beverage to complement the food. They have several unique beverage options but if you insist on what is familiar, they have the usual soft drinks as well. It’s nice to dine somewhere different from the norm. And if different is what you crave, then Seoul Garden is certainly a place worth visiting. The authentic Korean food includes many items that you won’t be able to pronounce, but don’t worry about your limited vocabulary. Just sit back and enjoy the interesting array of foods, in all their earthy goodness.

Tasty tofu soup

By Dani1225 |

The tofu soup is very good. I am not a fan of tofu but love spicy food, so I tried it on someone's recommendation and was pleasantly surprised. The tofu had a nice texture, the broth was tasty, and it was a perfectly sized portion. The restaurant is a bit hard to find, and 32nd St is so crowded - but it was worth it. The service was quick. The wait staff was courteous enough but I wouldn't say overly friendly. They give you a spread of kimchi, bean sprouts, daikon, etc to munch on before you get your food which is a nice touch. I would come back here.

Most Authentic Korean

By thyme111 |

Always most reliable authentic Korean food you can find in Houston. Their side dishes are always seasoned just right and their main dishes are consistently great. I highly recommend their Kimchi Stew as well as kimchi or vegetable pancakes. How do they make the pancakes so crispy and so yummy? Even though the decor is not the most fancy I love the atmosphere and the casual look of their dining room. This is a must go to place for an awesome Korean food at it's best.

Great food! Amazing dumplings

By Jim M |

Visiting from the Philadelphia area which has quite a good Chinatown with all kinds of Vietnamese, Korean, etc. I've been to NYC as well, so my standards are pretty high. First, they have a self serve side bar. The cucumber and noodle sides are AMAZING. Most Korean places will get you more sides of you want, but helping yourself means you get to eat to your hearts content. Appetizer was the Mandoo (dumplings). These were hands down the most fantastic dumplings I've had anywhere in my entire life. Flat out to die for! My wife got the Bibimbap, and I ordered the Bulgogi. While I've had better bulgogi (it could have had more sauce), it was still very good. The bibimbap was excellent! Seoul Garden has a simple setup, delicious food, and the price was certainly right. More people need to rate this place better!

Naughty but Nice

By Alan M |

I've never eaten Korean food before, so this was a first, and opted for a traditional BBQ meal. I chose the beef, which was thinly sliced, there was also various dishes, the names of which I can't begin to recall the names of. Nevertheless, I did enjoy tasting different foods, mostly vegetables, even had a vegetarian pizza, but I have to say, it did not set my taste buds on fire. Yes, it was a filling meal, certainly I ate what I could, and enjoyed everything, just not sure I would return to this restaurant again. My group of friends were given a table in a open room, with built in grilles. Most of us had the BBQ. The single waitress was elderly, and getting a smile out of her was very hard, but we finally managed it before the lunch was over. I think this is endemic in the culture where older waitresses are concerned. I noted that my bill was incorrect, only by about $1.50, and when I offered up the $30 for a $26 meal, they failed to even return a dime, which I find offensive. On that basis I would not return again. In the main, I do think this was an expensive meal for a self cooked BBQ, but I did enjoy it. There is plenty of parking, the restrooms are clean, and the ambiance was pleasant to the eye.

Fun Time

By Delnor N |

Each table at Seoul Garden comes with a grill. There were four in our party and we ordered one of the sharing plates for two, it was plenty of food for all of us. The server brings the raw meat to your table which you cook on the grill. Side dishes came to the table hot The sharing plates include great deals on drinks. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Prices were very reasonable especially considering the quantity and quality of food.

Seoul Garden Review

By aghyba |

After eating excellent Korean food in the Buena Park, CA area I wanted to find a great Korean restaurant in Houston. From the outside Seoul Garden does not look like a Korean restaurant but once inside it does and the staff is very nice. Ate their Bibimbap on a hot clay pot with side dishes, kimchi and spicy cucumber, very good. A bit disappointed they did not have Korean beer Hite to go with the excellent food. I will go again with my family next time.

Awesome Korean

By thyme111 |

This is one of my fave restaurants in Houston as it offers authentic tasty Korean food. You can tell that the place serves up authentic food by the crowds of Koreans that flock to the restaurant. If you're new to Korean cuisine the menu can be difficult to navigate but the staff is friendly and very accommodating. On our first visit we went for the more tried and tested Korean dishes such as Bulgogi and Bibimbap. I've now tried half the menu over several visits and have been suitably impressed with everything they have on the menu. Def. recommend it.

Good Korean BBQ

By travelingBV |

Old time favorite. Been visiting this joint for a few years. Good choices but we always order the short ribs, spicy pork & a spicy soup. Great selection of side dishes that come with the meats. The staff are friendly and attentive.

Very tasty Korean dishes

By KL L |

We ordered stir-fried beef with tofu and seafood tofu soup. They were both delicious. I did not give them 5 stars because I wish they can have more small dishes. They only had 7 dishes and only 6 for our second request.

Outstanding Korean Restaurant in Houston

A wonderful dining experience. Finally in search for fine dining I found Korean Food like I'm back in Hawaii. I look forward to my next visit.

YUMMY! Expensive, but worth it on occasion! Not the best neighborhood, but the interior is nice.

Amazing food and great wait staff !

By marianz618 |

The place was empty when we got there (~2pm on a Friday). We were seated right away and given our menus. We ordered 3 types of meat but were given a plethora of side dishes. It was the side dishes that got me. They were delicious and they kept on coming. The food was delicious and the staff was super friendly. It was a little expensive, but it's GREAT korean bbq (can't complain)!!!

Tasty Korean food

By pasyalannatin |

The food was really good. The servings enough for 1-2 people. We enjoyed the jap chae, the bulgogi, and the squid. The seasoning was just right, and the food was full,of flavor. The waitress was accommodating. She even assisted us by providing us with small plates, and other gadgets, for the birthday cake (we brought the cake for the birthday girl.) it was quite pricey since we were there for dinner. I would like try their lunch special one of these days.

Best Korean in Houston

By Janell C |

I have been to a lot of korean restaurants in Houston and Seoul Garden has the most authentic food and atmosphere. The menu can be very overwhelming though. They offer a large selection and variety of dishes, so do some research before you go. Most of the waitresses don't speak very good english, so it's hard for them to explain the food. I don't live in Houston, so every time I come to the city I have to make a stop at this restaurant. I crave it!!!

Possibly Best KOREAN Restaurant in the World

By Bill L |

In my 30+ years of travel, my family and I've eaten in hundreds of Korean restaurants around the world including South Korea and of course little Korea aka Los Angeles, Garden Grove and Orange County. There are several reasons why we think this restaurant is the best in the world. (1) service is unbelievable and the same ladies have served us for the past 20 years (2) side dishes are incredibly fresh and the variety is outstanding not to mention the type of side dishes tend to be very authentic. Here's a tip...if you get American type side dishes like broccoli or potato salad simply ask the waitress for more authentic side dishes that Koreans would eat and they'll bring you some awesome alternatives. After all, if the side dishes are average what's the point of eating Korean food (3) we have never found another Korean restaurant to serve amazing grilled fish vs deep fried or pan fried (4) meat is fabulous whether you grill it yourself or simply order off the menu and they cook it for you (5) soups are delicious and my family and I love the authentic home made bean paste they use. If you're Korean you know what I'm talking about (6) the consistency of the food is always perfect whether you come early late mid day or week day or holiday. If you want the best Korean food on the planet...go to Seoul Garden in Houston.

Seoul for my soul- so good

By Micha |

The best Korean I have had in a long time. The place is friendly, excellent (really excellent) service, clean, prompt, and most importantly the food is delish. Just a fine example of the Korean dining experience. I’m a non-traditional white lady who can experience mixed service from establishments. Unfortunately, it’s obvious I’m not Korean by birth. Also, I brought my Latina daughter with… most of their customers are Korean. These ladies are professionals, because my blonde hair didn’t stump them at all. So glad I came here. Loved It!!

korean food - nothing special, old established

Is one of the various korean restaurants in long point, nothing special, solid korean food, service and atmosphere is ok, rather crowded as there is a big asian community in this area....pricing is ok, not too expensive but also not cheap....

Great places for Authentic Korean food

Traditional authentic Korean food. Korean BBQ is their specialty. Try raw beef salad. Service has improved a lot recently. Added more English speaking waitresses that can understand and communicated better.

Great place for Korean Food

By germarini |

Love this restaurant... server was very attentive. Kimchijigae was very good and I loved the side dishes. There’s lots of Korean Restaurants in this part of town but we just keep coming back to Seoul Garden.

We have been regulars for this place for the last 12 years

By minicooper5Katy |

we always order the same, we have tried other bbq on your table meats and always go back to Bul-Go-Gee, im not sure how is the correct spelling since we dont even check the menu, 2 can feed a family of 3, we order 3 and some fried dumplings, the sides are delicious, you have to try them all. Best thing is that this place is open 365 days a year from 10 to 10 or 11 to 11 can't remember exactly.

Good Korean "Kooking"

By C B |

Seoul Garden is always a good choice and one many of my Korean friends rave about. I crave their BiBimBop. We have eaten here many times over the years and I am just catching up on some of my reviews. Wonderful wait staff, always willing to recommend a new item.

Authentic Korean

By Sorrell8615 |

Authentic Korean menu is not in Korean. The Kimchi is really good lots of food lots of sides the beef bulgogi was tender flavorful had plenty of meat. The serve a lot of dishes that other Korean restaurants don’t. They serve octopus, beef tongue dishes I love but they don’t serve everywhere

Good food but a little expensive

By hkhhouston |

Been here a few times and food is always good. We don't come as often because it is expensive and a far drive. Restaurant has a unique setting inside. Many reviews I've seen complain about the service but we have not had a problem. Perhaps we don't come at busy times. We love the seafood pancake and marinated boneless beef short ribs.

Authentic taste of Korea

By buddyb |

Whenever I get a chance to showcase Korean food to my non-Korean friends, I'm proud to take them to Seoul Garden because I know they'll get the real deal. And every single time, they leave more than satisfied. It's authentic Korean food at it's best!

Good BBQ

By MadyMadison |

We' ve been to this place for about 3x over the past one month, usually on the weekend. We kinda like it. The location for us is a bit spooky (just because we are not familiar with this area of town). The service is accommodating, the food is good. Some said the price are a bit pricey, I think it really depend on how you order the food. For example, for a family of 5, we normally order 2 Bulgogi and 1 marinated rib BBQ , and that's it! It comes with soups, salad, rice and it's plenty for us. So, We come here for their Korean BBQ, our kids enjoy their grill selection. What we notice, many native Korean come to this restaurant, so for us it is a good sign. It is worthwhile if you want to try a decent Korean cuisine.

Our favorite Korean spot in Houston

By Jaclyn C |

We always take family and friends here when they visit. The food is fast, plentiful, and delicious. The staff is helpful and accommodating. My husband was born in Korea and this place helps him have a bit of home!
