I like that this restaurant is away from the busy 23rd Ave. My family had dinner there and it was wonderful. We had the tuna tartarre as an appetizer. For dinner we both had the cavatelli with shrimp. It was fantastic. They even have a kids menu. This place is a real gem.

We were here for happy hour and had Cavatelli with wild boar ragu. In the past the happy hour pastas were al dente, and the sauces were rich and flavorful. This time, the pasta was tough and the boar sauce was dry and flavorless. We have had much better boar pasta sauces at other Portland-area restaurants. In the past, the happy hour wines were good quality. This time, the Chianti was astringent and lacked a nose, and the finish was poor. We have been coming here for years, and will give the place another try, recognizing that every place has an occasional bad night.

After years of decent date nights, the "new" Serratto now offers an apalling, arrogant service model that epitomizes the worst of Portland's hipster stereotype. Soggy potatoes, overpriced Italian standards, and surly service add nothing to the experience. If you decide to sample Serratto's agressively priced, mid-level menu, be prepared to worship the invasive shift management or be casually dissed. After years of reserved table visits and mixed quality fare, we won't be back. Sorry Serratto, you're just not good enough to treat your guests as transactional units.

This dinner was delicious and perfect Italian. We started with the pommes frites! Double fried and amazing. If that’s all I ate then I would have been satisfied. The ravioli was definitely a good vegetarian option. And the beet salad was fresh and tasty.

Nice relaxing atmosphere and pleasant staff. Our table had ink squid pasta, risotto and pizza. They were all very good. I thought the prices were reasonable. We passed on desert and walked around the corner to Salt & Straw.

We have been many times but this time sat at the bar instead of the dining room Had a great time and my steak with Chasseur sauce was one of the best I’ve had Love this place and only 3 blocks from Inn at Northrup Station, where we totally enjoyed our stay

The food is great and the atmosphere is hip and fun. Great Happy Hour. You’ll need reservations for dinner.

We celebrated an excellent birthday dinner at Serratto. The service was excellent and there were several gluten free and vegetarian options. The Rigatoni with Spicy Italian Sausage was spectacular and paired well with a Winderlea Pinot Noir from the Dundee Hills.

The calamari was probably the best I ever had. The burger is always great and this time I had the boar. The boar was good but could have used more pasta. Kids pizza is also very good. The service was slow - refills were lagging and took forever to get the bill.

Although I live nearby, I don't go to this place very often b/c we always find the food mediocre. I happen to go 2 nights in a row b/c other people chose it. On the first night, we just had happy hr menu which is a good deal. I had the regular sized burger and fries for $9 which is a great deal since the next night I saw it on the regular menu for $15. We had some pitas and hummus and the pitas were really dried out, hummus was so so. The fried calamari was good and good dip w/ it. Fries are crispy and they have home made ketchup which is fine. The next night, we ordered a bulk of the appetizers and many of the entrees to share. All the food is perfectly good but just not exceptional. Everything is very salty. I didn't like the margarita pizza which is hard to screw up. The pasta was again ok but not anything special for $19 and risotto was nothing special. My brother liked the duck dish a lot. Lamb meatballs were juicy but very salty. The check was close to $200 b/f tip. The service was fine.

Recently my college alumni group met at Serratto for a dinner gathering. The service, food, and setting were excellent for our needs making for a very enjoyable evening. The wait staff was very accommodating of our schedule making us feel very welcome.

As previously mentioned on this trip we were trying out different happy hours in this food mecca. Again with recommendations we decided to try Serratto in the beautiful Nob Hill district. We were not disappointed with the food which was good. Calamari and salads great but pasta dish too salty. Unfortunately the service was lacking as our server was more interested in chatting with her co workers than attending to the tables.

Visited Serratto last weekend for dinner with a friend. The entire experience relatively underwhelming. Starter of stuffed Piquillo peppers wasn't really very flavorful and there were two relatively small peppers per plate. Then we received our entrees OVER AN HOUR LATER and were truly meh. Those included the eggplant tagine (no crispy polenta on my plate), Rigatoni and the fish special. Everyone agreed, nothing that wowed us. From the point of being seated, despite asking 2x after the 1 hour point, our food came out a full 1.5 hours after arriving. Wasn't obviously the server's problem but the kitchen. Normally, in instances such as that, a server might offer a drink or fill in the time with a quick other appetizer or a consolation on part of the bill. They made no such effort, not that we needed anything and I just wanted dinner to arrive, but that would have made the problem a bit more palatable.

A great place for visitors and locals, with lots of space a long bar and a really good Happy Hour menu, too. Our friends take their kids here for pizza - which is really good - and there are lots of other interesting items. I tried the wild boar while my wife had a pasta. This is a deservedly busy restaurant but service is fast and efficient and the tables are well spaced so noise is not a big issue.

Linguini and Manila clams were wonderful. My scallops with roasted cauliflower and garbanzo beans was very delicious. Nice bright cheerful restaurant. Friendly and timely service. Ample portions for lunch. Nice wine selection.

For more than fifteen years we have been going to Serratto for the food and the comfortable environment. So this time we went after a meeting to chill and wait for traffic to ease up. We both had burgers which were not as good as they have been in the past but still good. The problem was the CACOPHONOUS LOUD MUSIC, about which we complained to the waitress. She advised that the new manager liked it and she would like it to revert to what it was before but she was powerless to make it change. So we told her we WON'T EVER RETURN because of it. And, we rushed to finish our meal and get out of there. She said, write a review; so this is it. We will not go back until we know that the background music is just that and it is not what is being played now.

don't get me wrong, the food was excellent. The waitress was more preoccupied with other customers or friends. We had to ask for the bread (after our food was served) and she asked if I wanted another coke, but never brought it to me. Then as she is giving me the check, she asked again (like she never asked in the first place). We felt like we were a bother to her rather than a paying customer who came to be a paying customer. Sorry, but we won't be back. There are too many other places to eat that will take care of us.

Where do I start? Easily made a reservation even though the place was very busy. We were immediately seated. We had a great server who was very attentive and possessed a great personality. I ordered the small portion of Rigatoni while my wife ordered a cheese and sausage pizza. I like restaurants that offer smaller portion for those of us who no longer eat like we once did. The portion was perfect. The Rigatoni was spiced just enough. Very tasty and well prepared. I sampled the pizza and liked what I ate. The crust was thin, crispy, and not burnt. We boxed the half we didn't eat and ate it 2 nights later in the hotel. It was still good. Next visit to Portland will include a night at Serratto. I highly recommend it.

I usually come here for business but this time came for dinner on my own. The food is very good. I've had a few items on the menu but my favorites are the spinach salad (to start), the ravioli, the scallops, and St Cupcake mini's for dessert. The staff are all so kind and make you feel very welcomed. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant- you will not be disappointed! Thank you Serratto staff for always making my dining experience delightful!

I had the Caesar and margherita pizza. The others had different pastas. No major complaints and everyone liked their food. Reasonably priced. The tuna tower was killer.

Met friends for a return visit to Serratto. Service was great, food was good too and the environment was good for conversation. My only thought was that my hanger steak was a little cool when it arrived at our table and our friend's pasta meal was also a bit cool, indicating that they had been sitting on the counter a while. Otherwise, all was good. Parking is always a problem in that area, but we found a place.

This place presents itself as bit fancy with cloth table cloths, and fresh bread with olive oil and and all that, but for lunch, it's still a very good value if you want to pub or any upscale lunch place. And the food is very good, I recommend the chicken sandwich for lunch. Better for quieter lunches.

Went here with colleagues looking for a light dinner. The food was excellent. I ordered the French onion soup and the simple salad with gorgonzola. I had a blackberry & basil sorbetto for dessert. Delicious!!!

We came for lunch on Saturday. The potato&leek soup was a smooth sensation with a hint of truffle, the Cavatelli with shrimp was a smokey creamcycle delight The Hamburger w/fries... The bacon was cooked just right and the Bun was delicious! The best parpadelle with wild boar was EXCELLENT! To bad we are just passing through or this would be my number one choice in Portland!

Great food, wonderful selection of different items and the quality of taste's is great. Fresh local cuisine, creative assortment of flavors, visually appealing plate arrangements.

This was my first experience at Serratto. It was recommended to me for a client dinner by a friend in the neighborhood. They're regulars and I can see why. Our meal was perfect in every way. Our server, Jerrod, was attentive, gave superb advice on menu selections, was very knowledgeable on his wines and was spot on with gluten free suggestions. We settled in with sharing appetizers (beet salad, ahi tartare, and pommes frites - don't miss the ahi - ask for avocado instead of the egg for a delicious treat), then ordered the bouillabaisse, risotto with grilled chicken (ask for it), and sea scallops. While i didn't try the bouillabaisse, it was widely praised as superb. The risotto was perfection, but the scallops, recommended by Jerrod, stole the show. These were some of the best scallops I've ever had, complemented by dried Oregon huckleberries and Brussels sprouts. Don't miss it. We ended our 4 hour meal (we were on the European plan: relax and enjoy!) with Creme Brulee and an amazing tarte citron, which I would highly recommend if you enjoy a key-lime pie like tartness. It was perfect. We shared a few bottles of red wine, recommended by Jerrod again, and they were perfect as well. The only downside of the restaurant is it is very noisy. My ears still ring and my voice is a bit hoarse from trying to make myself heard at a large round table of friends. Communication was difficult. After 8 pm it started to quiet down. Parking was not too difficult to find with paid street parking. I found a spot a block away. All in all, I can see why my friends love this restaurant as they do. We will certainly be back.

We were there for a wedding rehearsal dinner and there was an abbreviated menu. I had the Caesar salad and halibut entree and I thought the food was excellent. The atmosphere was inviting and warm. And, my biggest test is the noise level, which I thought was moderate. I would definitely return.

We had guests visiting from Phoenix and we selected 4 top restaurants and this was hands down, everyone's favorite! The Caprese salad with the gorgeous tomatoes in all colors not only was lovely to look at, but just delicious because everything was so fresh. We had squid with an aioli...sorry, can't remember what it had in it...garlic, capers, lemon. It was outstanding! Plus a caesar salad...Moving on, we had pappardelle, that was YUM good and then we all had entrees. I had the Musgove(sorry I think I misspelled it) duck breast with wild rice...I'm drooling! Two had the Scallops and they, too, were delicious. The last thing we had was one friend had the Pork Oso Bucco and she didn't offer it to anyone because she was enjoying every morsel! We would all highly recommend this restaurant that has been around for about 14 years, but it still makes an incredible dinner with a charming ambience. I forgot one thing! Erin was our server and she was a delight!

This is unequivocally the best restaurant I’ve been to but it may be that I selected the right things to eat. The tuna tartare with chips was absolutely earth shattering. Tenderloin was delicious and also on another level. Cheesecake was perfect and both the sauce and freeze dried fruit set it off. This place gives the impression of the highest skilled staff and best recipes at a reasonable price. I could not recommend going here more.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Italian lunch there, from beginning to end. We had a variety of well-prepared and interesting dishes, starting with Margeriite Pizza. A variety of fresh Oregon mushrooms were worked into some of the menu choices. The desserts were ample and delicious. It was quieter than many restaurants, so we could easily hear each other. It has a rustic, comfortable ambience. Service was friendly but a bit slow—my only criticism. We got lucky and found street parking nearby. is

The building is one of our faves: huge ceiling beams and wide old floorboards. The food is good - not Portland's best. Noise level is a bit much for me. Five of us at dinner on a Sunday had to lean toward the person next to us or SHOUT to converse.

This restaurant is one of our favorite! The kale salad is the best I've ever eaten anywhere!! The service is good and it is a beautiful building. Nice to go and just sit down and have a relaxing lunch or dinner. We have been coming here on a regular basis since 2001. So I guess you can say.....we really like it!

This was our fourth visit to this restaurant. We ate here on a Sunday to celebrate our 39th. We were seated at one of the open windows, and had a fine people-watching view. We ordered the pork loin, which had a vegetable and bacon mixture (including fava beans) in a very tasty cream sauce. The the loin (very tender and flavorful) was dressed with a little tomato-based sauce which complemented it nicely. The serving size was just right, when paired with the ciabatta bread and olive oil on the side. I would have liked more favas, but I realize they're a pain to prepare. We had the house syrah (Walla Walla Valley), which was a little fruitier than I'd expect in a syrah, but still decent. My wife ordered the house sauvignon (Yakima Valley), which was also quite drinkable. We were amused that the waiter pronounced both "an excellent choice", and wondered it he'd say the same for a order of Mogen David extra heavy malaga ("New Leaf" wine).

Food was delicious; super friendly service. Alejandro was very helpful and guided us through their wine list like a champ. We had them pizza of the day and it was amazing; all ingredients are top quality; the onion soup was super tasteful. A must on your visit ti Nob Hill!

We had the best meal of our trip to Oregon at Serrato. Although the restaurant is large, the tables do not crowd each other, making conversation easy. We sat by a large open window and enjoyed the breeze. The food was outstanding. We had multiple appetizers and pasta. We particularly liked the "albodingas" (meatball appetizer) and the kale salad. In addition, the house wine list by the glass is extensive and provided great choices. Finally, the chocolate cobler was to die for. Who knew that a cobbler could be made without fruit? We were here with friends, but recommend this as a great restaurant for a romantic dinner.

I had heard that Serratto's was spectacular so I was a little concerned about it living up to the hype. It was better then the hype. Not only was the atmosphere great, the service was impeccable. But the showcase was the food - I love Italian food and the meal was amazing. The stuffed peppers were a must get and the calamari was perfect. The most amazing part was AFTER the meal. I've never had rigatoni and sausage, 2 appetizers and bread and it sat as light as a feather afterwards - I can't wait to go back! Thank you Serratto's!!

We recently dined with friends from out of town at Serratto. Our goals were to show off the good food found in Portland and to enjoy pleasant conversation. Serrato provided just what we needed. The service was friendly, attentive and helpful with good suggestions. The menu had a good variety of dishes to choose from including a special of the day. They had an excellent wine selection as well and some interesting cocktails. The food was served promptly and was well presented and flavorful. The noise level was moderately low enabling fairly easy conversation. All in all we had a good experience at Serratto and will return.

My wife and I dined here August 2. We shared a kale salad, which was tender and tasty. I ordered a glass of rose--they had only one choice on the menu, and it was insipid, without character. Surely they can choose better. My wife ordered the bouillabaisse, which is advertised as 'seasonal seafoods, baby red potatoes.' What came out of the kitchen was a couple of shrimp, 3 tiny clams, lots of calamari (not seasonal), two very small pieces of white fish, and a TON of potatoes. My wife orders this dish frequently and said this was one of the most disappointing versions she has had. When she commented on the small amount and lack of variety in the fish, the response from the chef was that they serve 5 oz portions. Not a lot for a $25 dish. I ordered the burger which was well prepared and tasty. The service was professional and friendly. But this is not a place we would return to.

Friendly staff, a great wine selection, and nicely prepared dishes make Serratto a great place to drop in for a casual dinner. It seems like an odd thing to say, but don't overlook the burger -- it may be the best in Portland.

I've been to Serratto multiple times for dinner; as a couple, family and with visitors from out of town. Every time we go, my wife and I say, "we need to come here more!". The bar has a great selection of spirits, wine and beer. The dining room is spacious, you're not sitting on top of other tables, and the food is consistently good. Great variety, good vegan, fish and meat offerings, the AHI TUNA TARTARE "NIÇOISE" is a great starter, and from there you can't go wrong. Service is always personable, and attentive, without being annoying. Do yourself a favor and try Serratto, you won't reget it!

Stopped for lunch after a doctor's appointment. Very relaxed atmosphere. We were greeted & seated promptly. Good variety of choices on the menu. Had the eggplant tagine and the radiatore, and both were delicious. Meal was well paced and we were checked on regularly. Very enjoyable lunch.

15 of us celebrated my dad's birthday in a private dining room and we had a great time. Our server Hailey was charming, efficient, and accommodating. Everyone in our group loved the atmosphere and the food. Sara was easy to work with and helped with the planning. My niece said that the frisée salad with crab was the most delicious salad she has ever eaten. I would definitely recommend Serratto for a small party.

There were six of us, celebrating one person's birthday. The food was disappointing on almost every count (three pasta dishes and 2 bouillabaisses); only the hamburger was a success. The service was fine, no complaints there. Two of us have been coming here for years. We may give it another try before we decide to not go back.

We visited Serratto for our first date night post baby. After 9 months of giving our son all of our attention, we needed some "us" time. Per usual, Serratto did not disappoint. Our waitress was amazing. Fun, attentive but not intrusive, sweet and thoughtful (I wish I could remember her name, rookie reviewer mistake). We ordered the tuna tartar nicoise for our appetizer, and enjoyed it with a big, bold, red blend. The presentation was lovely, and the nicoise dressing really complimented the tuna nicely. For our main course, we had the sea scallops, and the pappardelle with wild boar. The sea scallops were the best I ever had, buttery, rich, and moist. We both love wild boar when it is prepared right, and this boar was fantastic. Tender, but full of flavor, and rich. Perfect for a cold rainy night in Portland.

The food is excellent, staff gives you plenty of time, and the spacing of tables allows for ease of conversation with safety protocols followed.

Been here numerous times, this time for Portland dining month. Serrato never disappoints. This evening The frisee salad with crab followed by the hanger steak with spinach with mini potatoes, for dessert banana bread pudding. Everything delicious! The pasta here and many appetizers and mains never disappoint. Bravo!

We love Happy Hour and dinner here. All is freshand excellently prepared. Lovely inside, often hard to reserve. But worth it!

My husband loved the scallops. I had the duck and was very disappointed because it was dry. I do not recommend ordering the duck. The restaurant offered us desserts to comoensate which was nice of them but dry duck. I had the housemade sorbet and gelato which was very good and my husband liked the crème brulee. I would give this restaurant another try. It seemed quite popular.

First the burger for $10 is one of the best burgers in town with bacon, bbq sauce and thin fried onions. Their fries are some of my favorites. Beers are $4, not $1 off like other places, Wine is $6 with decent pours. They do have a pizza oven, but it is just a little too much dough for me. Their regular menu is excellent and they have a fairly priced wines in a number of price points. Service is always quick and efficient.

I officiated at a wedding here last month. Beautiful private room for the after-ceremony dinner and a great mezzanine for pre-ceremony drinks and appetizers. Food was delicious, service was wonderful. Main restaurant food servers and bus people seemed unaware or uncaring, however, of the noise level they were creating below the mezzanine.

A local friend invited us to try Serratto in the NW action of Portland. The restaurant is roomy with a large bar. Service was friendly and attentive. More importantly, the food was excellent. We were a party of 7 and we all enjoyed their meals. The wine list is worth exploring and the bread (so rare to find goof bread in the US!) and olive oil was taking me back to the Mediterranean... Highly recommended.

Good food, friendly staff and easy reservation. Booked for an early dinner before a concert and did not have any doubts we had plenty of time as the food was efficiently presented without rushing us. Party of 6 accommodated nicely.

I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Serratto with my parents. The extensive menu provides lots of options, and the appetizers, main courses, and salads were prepared and presented quickly and correctly. The staff is friendly and well trained, and the space is pleasant, if a bit loud. I'll be back.

This has been a favorite restaurant for years!! Not only is everything super delicious, the burger is one of the top rated in Portland by the Oregon Cheeseburger Club!

We had dinner here two nights ago. Loved our waiter, Alejandro, and the service. We shared a pasta appetizer which was good, and my wife loved her chicken. I had the bouillabaisse which was just ok as it was a tad shy in seafood and lacked that rich flavor. All this said, I think you should try Serratto.

The restaurant was easy to get to via street car. The service was excellent--responsive but unobtrusive. After traveling via crazy airports and then sitting down for your first meal, it is always a good start to your visit to experience a smile and affable food server. Got great wine recommendations for pairing but with tastings to confirm our choice. The food was different yet they pulled it off e.g. tuna tartare nicoise. The scallops were great. There was italian, french and mediteranean influences to the menu. The ambience was casual, a bit like a neighborhood hang out. I would definitely go back.

Serratto really did a fabulous job serving us the chef's tasking menu for my birthday dinner. There were six of us and we all raved about the excellent dishes. Six courses with wine pairing. Everything was tasty and well presented. The wines were a wonderful accent to each course. We really loved the crab with palm hearts salad. I can't say enough about our festive, delicious and fun celebration. Thank you.

We came here to celebrate and it was great. The specialty cocktails were a bonus - among the best I've seen in any city anywhere. I highly recommend the White Negroni. The dinner was also excellent - everyone had a fine dinner. My only complaint was that the restaurant was a little noisy, but YMMV.

Started out with great red wine blend- Nebbiolo Then ordered Lamb shank. It was fall off the bone perfection on top of arugula with nice sauce. I would give it a 5. I got the Tiramisu for dessert and give it a disappointing 1. All it had was coffee flavor. Even the creamy part wasn’t that creamy. Best I had was in Miami- see my review.

Stumbled upon this place while roaming the streets of Portland with the family. We were attracted by the atmosphere and the the yummy looking good in the outside seating area. We found a nice table inside and had a very attentive waitress. She helped us pick a great wine, let us split our entrees and made us feel welcome. We found all our food very tasty and the presentation very elegant. The beet&Chevre salad and the risotto are both real winners! A great restaurant for couples, family and business. I will go back if Portland is on my travel route again.

First trip to Portland for us. Long travel day, so we went to have an early dinner. Sertatto was 3 blocks from our hotel so we shambled in. Happy hour was on so we ordered from that menu. We had: calamari, Caesar salad, a lovely house salad, some great artisan bread, French onion soup, a pizza (12 inch), two glasses of wine and three beers. All of it was excellent. Total bill $77. Set in a quiet neighborhood off 21st street, the ambience and service were top notch, and to top it off the place was dog friendly and we got to meet a sweet girl. I can't recommend Serratto's too highly.

Great food, service? We have enjoyed many meals at Serrato. We knew our table was reserved and that was acceptable. But, the rush to clear our table 30 minutes before the time we needed to leave was unacceptable. Our server was good, but seemed pressured to move us along.

This was fine for a quick bite to eat. We both had the rigatoni and it was quite nice. We sat at the bar. Staff were courteous - not very friendly or helpful though.

This is a restaurant in Portland's Nob Hill District that we enjoy very much. It is popular but the noise level is no too high to hinder conversation. The food is wonderful and there is a wide variety of dishes to choose from. We order wine by the glass and their offerings was very good. Our food server was very good on his recommendations.

With the increasing restaurants opening that cram you in and you cannot hear a word your guests are saying. This restaurant gives you amble space and serves delicious food, highly recommend the Beef Tenderloin.

Some friends and I had dinner here one Saturday evening in mid-August, 2016. We were seated in a kind of upstairs-veranda setting, quite nice. I had the Alaska Halibut -- a wonderful dish. I spotted at least one TripAdvisor review that mentioned that this place is pricey. I don't recall ever seeing a restaurant that was having a fire-sale on halibut. All I can say is that, while it ran me some bucks, it was VERY much worth it. A nice, mellow setting, great food. (I did not sample the desserts. But, I did luck out, arriving a few minutes prior to the end of happy hour for some nice wine.) Would I go back? Oh Yes. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Dinner was excellent and our server was very accommodating. We all needed separate checks for work! I had scallops which were delicious. Another person had the pork chop and she said it was the best she has ever had! Enjoyed a lovely bottle of Rose!

The menu was a bit pricey for us (retired couple) but we trusted the Tripadvisor reviews. We split a meal of sea scallops and a beet salad, and found both wonderful. Nothing left, and we ordered a creme brulee dessert to top off a marvelous experience. Service was attentive and helpful. And friendly. We'll return the next time we're in Portland.

Made reservations for a birthday dinner. Great atmosphere and the service was excellent! I thought the menu was limited. They allowed us to bring in cupcakes for dessert from St. Cupcake. They are owned by the same company!!

By far the best restaraunt I have ate at from start to finish. Thee Manhattans were perfect, the meat taxed fresh, and the Lava Cake was impressive. Will be going back next time out here.

Last night was had an excellent meal in a really wonderful restaurant. Every dish was well printed and very flavorful. The wine list was comprehensive and filled with interesting wine. The grilled octopus was excellent. There was a special appetizer of sweetbreads that was outstanding, tender and well presented. A lot of flavor. The duck was great as was the lamb osso bucco. This was an excellent meal

We had a small party for my niece for her bridal shower. The staff, food, and ambience were excellent. Highly recommended.

Have been here twice in the last month for an early dinner. Good food and great service both times. Comfortable, light, relaxed setting. Open kitchen, so you can watch them at work. Hasn't been hectic on our weeknight visits, but a reservation is the best way to get one of those coveted tables by the big, beautiful windows. Good place to when you are with a group with different appetites -- nice menu variety. The rigatoni was especially popular with two of our group. Recommended.

I recently ate at this restaurant with my daughter and her family. There were five of us so we ordered a lot of different things. The service was very friendly and efficient. We thought the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous restaurant in a remodeled old building. The food was tasty and reasonably authentic as far as American Italian restaurants go. Since I go to Italy quite often, I am probably far more critical than most diners in America. Food and wine just a tad pricey considering the amounts are not overly generous. But over all, a very good experience and I would probably return if I were to be in the Portland area again.

Crazy good happy hour. Tons of delicious dishes to choose from. Great prices and large portions. Good happy hour wine selection and cocktails.

We came to Serratto at the suggestion of a local friend. It was a great suggestion. Good food, friendly and knowledgeable service. I'd be glad to return when next in Portland. We were there on a very warm day and the setting was great. Nice atmosphere.

My husband had the tenderloin and it was excellent. I had french onion soup which was just ok, and the rigatoni which was delicious. Our waiter forgot my wine, but overall service was good.

A group of us met up here to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had a nice semi-private table. Got some excellent advice on wine selection. Serratto was decked out for the holidays, making this a festive spot for our occasion. It could have been our choices from the menu, but I wasn't all that taken with the food. The bread was over-baked, nearly burnt on the crust. I had a pasta dish that left me wanting more in quantity and in flavor. It was a fun atmosphere and good for group dining.

We were seated promptly by a window and could watch the world pass by--very entertaining. Interesting variety of menu items. We had the lamb burger and the Painted Hills Burger, which had white cheddar, bacon & BBQ sauce with crispy onions and everything was delicious. Very relaxing atmosphere. Delightful neighborhood restaurant. Our server, Sarah, was very good about checking on us regularly. Another good experience.

ABSOLUTELY .... wonderful brunch experience ...what a wonderful time. We were in the banquet room and our server ...she was perfection on every aspect of being a server.

This USED to be our absolute favorite. The food was still good but our experience was so tainted by the unimaginably poor service, that I felt like I wanted to write a review. I’ll start by saying I don’t think I’ve ever, left less then 15% tip. I almost always tip at least 30% unless service is most excellent in which case we sometimes tip 40 %. Last night, for the first time in my life I did not tip at all. We arrived for our 7:30 reservation and the waitress immediately came by to ask drink orders and questions. When we asked questions about the menu she was clearly distracted and not listening, so asked us to please repeat the questions. This probably should have been a warning sign to us of her inattentiveness. After 45 minutes when salads and apps had not arrived I got up to ask. She replied that one of the apps( pizza) takes a long time and thus the delay- this would have been nice to know when ordering. By this time all the tables around us had been served their food- apps and Main Courses happily. After an hour and a half - as we watched tables around us- that had clearly arrived well after us- eat their main courses and desserts and leave- we still waited for our entry. After an hour and a half of completely ignoring us ( no checking in, or explaining what was going on and why the delay)- she offered us a round of drinks( again without any apology or acknowledgement of the very long wait). When the food finally arrived it was without any communication from her or checking in to see if it was ok. The fish was extremely salty but edible. That was after almost two hours of waiting( and being ignored) She did comp us for two glasses of wine- which we appreciated. But it was such a let down to eat there- and to have such a Long wait and not even have the waitress check in once was really atrocious. We had not been in town for a while And we saved this experience for a special Father’s Day celebration. Now quite honestly I am not sure if we will return at all. Too bad- our favorite restaurant is no longer:(

Had an excellent evening here with a large group. Attentive servers and excellent food for all in our group.

Portland has great food served by nice people in unique environments - typically, but as the city changes, places like Serratto seem to become increasingly popular. While the restaurant itself is gorgeous, the staff seems absolutely miserable. We were extremely disappointed by the food (cardboard like papparadelle) and disgusted with the server who was cold, unfriendly, and inattentive.

We had just one night in the city, and Serratto was a lovely choice. The waiter happily worked with me to create a gin cocktail that wasn't on the menu, and gave us wonderful dinner and wine suggestions. Halibut was delicious if a little salty. Cavatelli with prawns and scallops also very good. It's a pretty place, with high ceilings and welcoming décor. Good choice.

Two dining experiences within a week. The first evening, I was solo and indulged in the caesar salad and margherita pizza. Perfectly seasoned, outstanding pizza crust and good service. It was clear that this is a favorite among locals, as many of the servers greeted diners by name. The second evening, I met a friend, and we both had the duck confit, which was quite rich, as expected, but also a tad over seasoned. The creme brulee was outstanding.

Calamari was just ok. But the chicken with the caper sauce was delicious. Spaghetti with sauce had clams in the sauce which was really good. Mushroom risotto was heavy on truffle taste if you like that. Ambiance was great. We were there on a Saturday evening and we did not feel rushed when we stayed a little longer to talk. Although we did ask if they needed the table and they assured us we were fine.

We were a party of seven...early for a dinner on a week night....not crowded...first day in town and we arrived to find restaurant not full and lots of seating available, but they refused to move two tables together or open a new section.....the hostest was VERY unhelpful. We decided to sit outside where there were no customers at this time, but they would not allow us to move two tables together...something about a city ruling(?).....we decided to order anyway....appetizers and drinks were good as we were there, as we discovered, at happy hour...but decided to move on for dinner elsewhere.....their hostess lost of a good sized party check!!

Upon arriving we were seated promptly in a friendly manor. The atmosphere is very nice, high ceilings, white tablecloths. We were offered water right away and then nothing for about 15 minutes. Finally, we ask the person pouring the water if they were our waiter. They said no. Apparently, there was some kind of mix up. Our server was very friendly and apologetic. We finally ordered a bottle of wine. It took about 20 minutes from the time we sat down until we got our wine. We ordered Spaghetti and Clams, Bouillabaisse, and Chicken. It took about 25 minutes until our entrees. The pasta dish was cold and not cooked all the way. We told the server this at the end of our dinner. She apologized. The Bouillabaisse had a lot of seafood in it that was cooked perfectly. The broth was on the bland side and not seasoned quite enough. The chicken dish was okay. Overall, the staff was very friendly and nice. However, the communication seemed to be lacking. Disappointing.

Good food decent prices. Would recommend the appetizers especially the calamari and pizza. Had the beef filet cooked perfect and the portions were perfect

I was equally impressed by the fact that the food and service here were excellent at this high end Italian restaurant; and by the fact that they had a kids' menu and were relatively child friendly. My wife and I were in Portland with our 2 year old daughter and - despite that this is very much a special occasion type of place - the wait staff did a great job in meeting our needs and ensuring that we had a positive experience. Granted, we were there at 5:15 p.m. on a Wednesday, and my daughter was the only child in the entire restaurant, but I give them much credit. A wonderful meal.

We had such a great time a few months ago at Serrato's that we decided to go back to celebrate a Birthday. We got a nice table in the corner and spent the next few hours laughing, drinking and telling stories. Our Server did a fantastic job keeping us on task with our dinner so that we didn't just order nothing but wine. :) We all had great food that was served with a smile. The folks at Serratto did a hell of a job!

Had lunch here twice while in Portland and our friends had dinner as well. All were excellent excursions into Italian cuisine with a northwest bent. Pizzas are great. Go the pizza of the day whatever it is. Nicoise was excellent and wild boar papardelle was to die for. We sat on their small outside dining area but the inside looks very welcoming as well. Wine selection is limited but well chosen. Every dish was perfectly done. Even got free dessert for our return visit. Lovely, pretty young waitress did a great job.

A popular restaurant so reserve or go early. Pasta and pizza are old standbys but be sure to visit the full menu.

The food and service at Serratto is very good. We were here for a business dinner and ordered the charcuterie (wonderful and large enough for 3) the bouillabaisse aromatic flavorful with big chunks of fresh seafood. One of my table, ages had the duck and used bread to mop his plate clean. Only downside was the espresso machine being broken that night. Nice wine list and the gin martini was chilled to perfection. Will definitely be back!

Had one of the best risotto dishes I've ever had here. 3 types of fresh mushrooms so a great time to go if you're a mushroom fan: oyster, hedgehog, black trumpet. Good service, lots of fresh options. Beet salad was excellent.

Had lunch with some friends at this charming restaurant and were impressed by the quality of both the service and the food. Unpretentious, friendly staff and well-prepared delicious food. We will be back.

Hubby took me here for Valentine's Day. We hadn't been in several years (mostly because we like to try new places, especially expensive restaurants), and it was a great choice. It is one of the few nice, busy restaurants in Portland that isn't so loud you have to shout at one another to communicate. Couples were seated on either side of us, but we didn't hear their conversations at all. The overall noise level was just as unobtrusive. Food was excellent and the wine too. They have a great wine selection, which was one of the reasons we went back.

We were there for lunch. The restaurant is light, airy, and very nice in decor. The service was prompt, courteous, and very attentive. Two of us had salads as the main course. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. One person had the risotto which was excellent. We were most pleased with all.

This is an expensive restaurant that we've dined here a dozen times over the years, and the food is generally excellent. However, the service at dinner can be hit or miss, as other reviewers have noted. In my experience the service at lunch has always been high standard. Serratto seated us a half hour late after we had called in advance to verify the time. There was no good place to wait so we milled around by the doorway dodging servers and customers coming and going. We were not offered drinks. Though I would not say service once we were seated was "attentive," we were in an area where we could flag down waitpersons. Because of a communications problem, the salad I ordered as a main was brought as a separate course and split, keeping four people waiting. The not empty champagne was cleared without asking--- I wished I'd been more attentive. The restaurant adds 18% gratuity to parties of six. An automatic gratuity seems unreasonable, since level of service should matter. It seems like they have ample staff and consistently good food, so the addition of experienced and professional "front of the house" management could bump Serratto up a notch or two by providing consistency.

I went with my niece and her husband who wanted to a local Italian spot.We did well to choose Seratto. The ambiance, at least where we sat, to the right as you enter the building, had just the right level of sound to be engaging but still able to hold a conversation. The waiter was super friendly and helpful offering suggestions and showed his personality in a way that made us feel at home. The Risotto was excellent as well at the beet salad. My niece enjoyed her Rigatoni and her husband the clam spaghetti. Good wine selection by the glass. All in in all, a nice experience.

Serratto is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Portland. It had been at least a couple of years since I had been here, so I recently returned for a meal and found the food as good as ever. The menu had changed a little, but not shockingly so. The boar ragu I usually got here was no longer available, but I had a pasta with beef and lamb that I enjoyed just as much. The service is good. The atmosphere is pleasant. I hope it's not as long until my next return visit.

We had an excellent birthday dinner at Serratto. We went early on a Monday evening and were served quickly with excellent service. The pommes frites with garlic aioli were a delicious starter. The linguini with clams was excellent. The clams were very fresh. It is very nice that they have an option for a smaller portion of the pastas. The radiatore with pork and lamb bolognese was delicious. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass. The desserts were delicious as well. The tables are not spaced tightly which is very nice and contributes to a low noise level. This was one of our favorite meals in Portland.

I'll start by saying this place had a really good wine list and might be a good place to go get drunk if you got nothing better to do however their food should go straight into the dumpster. Way over cooked calamari that actually squeak and popped in my mouth like stale Captain Crunch cereal. French onion soup wave with no onion stock and burnt beef stock. Also so salty I couldn't eat it. Both entrees the chicken and the spaghetti bolognese again so salty they should have gone straight in the dumpster. I was really looking forward to a bolognese sauce and got a store-bought hamburger over cook for about 4 hours in sauce brine. The chicken was just the opposite. Raw and pink on The Middle and slathered in lemon and capers in a sauce that must have been made from the Brian the Capers were stored in. It was absolutely hideous. I don't know what's wrong with people out there they can't figure this sort of thing out. My tongue swelled up and my teeth partially eroded from all the salt. This just goes to prove that most people just don't know any better. Don't waste your time and that's all you want to do is get drunk

nice break after a day of travel...good food and select wine offerings and other drinks at happy hour...painted hills cheeseburger cooked the way u want it...it was really medium rare! bartender Mike was patient and friendly (what is up with cranky bartenders?) and service was good...finished with tiny cupcakes...3 different flavors, which change thru the week...would definitely return.

Have been going here for many years. Always consistent and never disappointing when a restaurant has been around for a long time. In fact it seems to be even better. Had an amazing lunch here. The dinners are worth the trip. They have a great happy hour special too. Highly recommend this place, great food, people and friendly service.

4 of us went for Portland Dining Month on the last day of March. This was mentioned in the reservation. We were seated immediately and asked for what we wanted for drinks even before the cocktail menu was brought. We had to ask for it. When we were asked what we wanted to order we asked for the Dining Month menu. We were told they were all out of the food on the menu. There was no offer for a substitution, or to comp drinks or desert. We would have left except we were hungry and looking forward to an evening together. There was no excuse for being out of food given they had been doing PDM all month long. The whole evening felt scattered and unprofessional. The chocolate cobbler tasted like it had been frozen and microwaved. The lemon semolina cake was dry and tasteless. The spaghetti with clams was tasteless. Serratto has been around for a long time and has had a reputation for quality dining. Did not live up to its reputation on this visit. With so many great places to eat in Portland Serratto needs to be top notch to stay competitive.

Was one of my favorite restaurants in Portland . However yesterday experience left a bad impression on me and the group I was with. We had to wait for almost an hour between starter and the main course. Reason given , They had a group of 40 people and the kitchen is behind . Nothing was offered to keep us satisfied . Not even bread . Eventually both us and the server were upset. Couldn’t wait to eat and get out. With low staff , the management should have handled the situation better . I will not be in hurry to go back.

Decor: Contemporary space, with high ceilings, huge windows, & a bit rustic (wood ceiling, beams, wide-plank wood floor). Open kitchen, large bar, warm lighting. Menu: Covers pasta, venison, pork, chicken, beef & lamb. Service: Attentive. Quality: Wow! Beautifully- presented, tasting wonderful. Included in those comments were the sea scallops, the venison & the risotto. Desserts excellent as well, especially the spiced (!) chocolate pot de creme. Value: Very good.

Great food, great atmosphere, great service - we enjoyed some great dishes, and the chef even came out to speak to us and signed a menu for us to take home as a souvenir of our visit. It was well worth getting a cab from our hotel into Portland to eat here - a very memorable evening - and you do a mean Expresso martini by all accounts!

Went here with a party of 5 for a business dinner after the conclusion of a long meeting nearby. The restaurant accommodated us without a reservation which was really great. Overall, it was a nice experience. It was good for business--nice enough, but still relatively casual. The space was not dead, but was quiet enough for good conversation. Service was welcoming and attentive throughout the meal. The wine list had a lot of affordable options for red, white, and rose; the bottle of Washington State rose we enjoyed with dinner was really great for summer! The menu had a nice variety of options that were typically Italian; there were pastas, pizzas, salads, and mains. I did appreciate that there were several lighter options, which are sometimes lacking at Italian establishments. The food was good--not spectacular or especially innovative, but very solid. A kale salad had nice freshness. Risotto had really great mushrooms and a good texture. A salad with ahi tuna was really delicious, with bright flavors. Overall, a very nice experience--would not hesitate to return.

we have had dinner (and probably a lunch or two) at Serratto a number of times, and keep coming back. Service is very good, and the food is well-prepared. House wines are well-chosen and fairly priced, although the beer choices are more limited - it's just not their focus. The tables are spaced far enough that the noise level is kept under control. Overall, it's a fine place to dine and to return.

Food and service are always great. Try the spectacular tuna tartar. The room has a loft feeling--wish I could find a condo that looks exactly like this.

Solid wine list featuring a number of French, Spanish, Italian, Oregon and California wines. Got a bottle for a decent price, bottles range from $30s upwards of $100. $20 corkage fee, waived on first bottle. Great atmosphere, can get a bit loud as the restaurant fills up due to high ceilings and big open space. Beautiful natural wood working details in beams and large enough tables for 2 couples plus toddler. Kids menu and crayons were in from of him before water was poured, big win. Tasty worthwhile seafood and Italian sausage pasta dishes, delicious and well prepared caprese. Highlight of the meal was French onion soup, don't skip it if you are a fan!

We were there with a large group and experienced excellent service. Several entree selections were provided and all seemed to be well received although the chef had been a bit heavy with pepper on each of the offerings.

We eat her regularly and love their pasta. I had Mary’s Chicken and my wife had Rigatoni. Our friends had spaghetti with clams. Each of us enjoyed our meal. The service was fine, although not spectacular.

We’ve walked by here a hundred times. I thought it might be for tourists. What a pleasant surprise. Except for the indifferent service, we had a great time. The star was the radiatore ( Hail to the chef) Not enough cheese in the French onion soup. The best Caesar salad in Portland. The bouillabaisse was a little thin. We will be back

Lots of ambient light from large windows plus chandelier lighting offers a bright setting for good food. We joined another couple for dinner and I enjoyed calamari for a starter although it was not as crisp/crunchy as one might desire. Also, I missed having a wedge of lemon on the plate - remembering when 1/2 a lemon was on such a plate (at another restaurant) wrapped in net with a small ribbon securing it. My venison was very good but not as moist as would be expected from braising. My wife's ravioli was well seasoned and enjoyable. Overall good service, good food in a well appointed facility.

Although Serratto's has been around for many years this was my first visit to it. Meeting friends for dinner on a Monday night was great, except for the proverbial parking problem in Portland. My wife ordered the chicken and I ordered the spaghetti with clams. The beet salad for me the soup du jour for her started us off. Very enjoyable. The main dishes came and were hearty. The chicken and mashed potatoes were way more than my wife could handle for dinner. The spaghetti and clams was tasty but spicy. Beer quenched the fire. Service as good throughout the dinner. We all enjoyed our time and would return again in the future.

Superb, attentive service from Erin, delicious food, and charming atmosphere made Serrattos the perfect choice for our large family gathering. Thank you manager Tyler for stopping by our table. We left full, happy, and relaxed.

Try Sauvignon wine with pappardelle( it's bore) a good combo. Good atmosphere and well attenended staff.

fine food and service with a very very good wine list have the risotto and about any pasta wil be beck

We were staying around the corner from this deceptively large restaurant and bar, and had a late dinner after returning from a drive to Cannon Beach. We were tired, and a bit grumpy, and walked out with huge smiles on our faces. The service was friendly and efficient, the room was soothing, the wines were reasonably priced although I found the selection a bit sparse, but the food was wonderful. We had a simple pizza marghereta, with a bit of fennel sausage to liven it up, and it was simply perfect. Accompanied by a lovely salad, simply dressed, it was just what we needed and wanted. We look forward to returning with a more ambitious appetite, but this was a balm to the soul of tired travellers.

There were three of us at Serratto. I have eaten there numerous times and the food and service has been very good. It was not very busy on the night we went. Our female server seemed a bit preoccupied from the beginning. I ordered a soft drink and the others had wine. I was empty and the server was coming to our table and I started to hand my glass to her for a refill. She said something like, " I don't play that game", and walked away. Hmmm! Then our food arrived and my pizza was very burned and very easy to see that. They have a chef who only makes pizza, and I don't know why he would even plate that pizza. The server also could see it was burned. There was a weird vibe going on with her and I did not say anything. I eat the one partial piece that was not burned and that was it. Our server seemed to be very happy serving 3 gentleman next to us, who were about her age. Laughing and talking to them endlessly about wine and food. Anyway, I was not a good experience for me and I left a minimal tip as the service was extremely poor. I eat out at least 4 nights a week and am a good client. Never rude and always smiling and friendly.

We met our Portland friend here for dinner, at her suggestion. It is one of her family's favorites. We loved the house made pastas, the halibut, the great desserts, and the good wine list. The atmosphere was lovely and not too loud for conversation. We will definitely return next visit to Portland.

We went here with a couple from Portland who frequent the restaurant. Unfortunately I found it a bit lacking. I had rigatoni that was good but it's hard to mess it up. The Caesar salad was nothing special at all ( no anchovy or even a taste of) and would never order it again but I don't plan on returning. We had a nice server, Erin, however. The rest of the staff seemed to not be enjoying themselves, maybe because it wasn't busy. My buddies wife asked one of the staff to take a pic of us and she said ok but was off the clock. Stupid response. After dinner we went to the bar and asked what tequila they had and the bar tender pointed to the shelf and said "all these here". Would have been fine but we were at the end of the bar and had no binoculars so my buddies wife went behind the bar to scope out the selections. Dumb. Due to service alone I wouldn't go back. Too many good places with staff that care about customers.

Another very good experience. We have eaten here before and it does not disappoint. We were warmly greeted and seated promptly. Very relaxed atmosphere. Innovative menu items. We had the radiatore and the trout and both were delicious. Service was very good and we were checked on regularly. Would definitely return.

It’s great to see Serratto back open for curbside pickup at lunch and dinner. All proper precautions taken. We had the rigatoni and a chicken sandwich. As good as ever and it holds quite well.

was in portland visting on business, and found this place through the portland dinning month list. The options sounded intriguing, so decided to give it a shot. First off this place should promote their wine list more than it does becasue it was impeccable! there is something for everyone! We had a 2012 French Granche/Syrah which was to die for and paired well with everything we had. I highly recommend the grilled shrimp, the steak, aspearagus, and the blood orange caked with a saffron custard! the service was also tremendous, which I usually do not find with places i. portland, so it was such a surprise!

Serratro is a charming Italian restaurant with lots of old world charm that definitely makes you feel at home in the friendly atmosphere. Good menu selection of appetizers to start. We ordered calamari for two but was enough for all four of us to share. Our friend ordered a bowl rather than a cup of soup and it was huge. Although the portions are very generous, they do not skimp on quality. I had salad with side of meatballs that were fabulous. Service is friendly and attentive without hovering. Recommend reservations especially on the weekend. Will definitely go again.

The portions were filling. The menu diverse. The dessert was comped, due to our burned appetizer. The drinks were strong.

Great food! Amazing service. The duck was out of this world, the hanger steak was good, scallops amazing—but there were 3, yes 3 (skimpy), beet starter awesome, kale salad awesome. Creme brûlée perfect, Panna cotta was “okay” very odd crumble—just not good; exhaustive wine list.

My daughter and I went for lunch as we were looking for a place to have a graduation dinner for a small group. We tried several appetizers and entrées and all were excellent. An amazing wine list. Service was appropriate and well done. We plan to have a to have our small group dinner there and I will definitely go back for a couples dinner. Very well done.

Had a wonderful meal. Service was perfect , staff was considerate and didn't but us so we had a leisurely dinner. Wonderful food.

Had dinner at the bar, great pasta dish with wild boar and wonderful heirloom tomatoes for a starter. The burger is also a winner. . Good wines, even by the glass. One of the city's great bartenders, Curt, will take good care of you while keeping the place running smoothly. We'd eat here regularly if we lived in Portland.

We ate here on a Saturday night. We had a 6:45 pm reservation, and we were seated promptly. Our table was in an alcove next to a window--nice location. The potato leek soup was wonderful, and the Caesar salad good. I had the best bouillabaisse ever, filled with halibut, calamari, and mussels. This changes with what is in season and fresh. The broth was delicious and complex. Our server recommended a wonderful Italian white wine I had never heard of, but it was perfect with the stew. It also was one of the least expensive items on the wine list. Others in our party had the rigatoni and really liked it. You can order a 1/2 order if you wish. They had a tempranillo that very much complimented the sauce. Our server was efficient, friendly, and knowledgable, without hovering. We would absolutely eat here again when we come to Portland.

We went to Serratto by recommendation while travelling in Oregon. The dinner was fine. The food was delicious. Especially the lamb and beef appetizer. My father ordered chicken entree that was below his expectations as it wasn't (surprisingly with chicken) soft enough. Other things we tried were great.

If you are looking for great food, service and atmosphere this is your place! We are new to the area and a friend told us about Serratto. Our first visit was with two other people. Four out of four amazing dishes. Our guests who lived out of town insist we return when they visit again. We've been several times since and have yet to be disappointed. The food is Italian-leaning Mediterranean style and what a wine list! One of our friends who runs a European tour company was so impressed by the wine selection on our last visit. I can't recall what she ordered but said it was rare to see this wine on a menu in the states. The atmosphere is very comfortable to visit with friends or just your spouse. The food prepared by Chef Tony Meyers is amazing. Great portions and delicious. I just can't say enough about this place!

We ordered the scallops. It was right on. The scallops were done just enough to melt in your mouth. We had a great window seat and the although the restaurant was crowded, we could hold a good conversation.

Stopped here for lunch as we had business in the neighborhood and it was a great choice. We were seated promptly. Atmosphere is reminiscent of a European cafe. Menu had plenty of different options. We had the Margherita pizza and the trout, and both were delicious. To top off the meal, we had the homemade apple crisp, which was wonderful. Hayley, our server, was very personable and professional and checked on us regularly. This was a very good experience.

We used to come eat here every time we were in Portland, sometimes on multiple days in a row. How this last level was below par. First, the menu was changed. The boar pappardelle dish is gone. There are some additions but it is almost if the menu is trying to move away from Italian to some PNW cuisine. Also the burgers which we loved were all way undercooked and were not delicious. The only highlight was the calamari appetizer which was delicious but an appetizer doesn’t make a meal.

Really enjoyed our visit here and was probably the best meal we had in the few days we were in Portland. The restaurant is spacious and staff are attentive. Only negative was the waitress not knowing much about locally produced wines.

We enjoyed a great meal here with colleagues celebrating a faculty event. The service and presentation was as good as the food. Pasta dish was s little skimpy but the Muscovy Duck was generous though a few more fingerling potatoes wouldn’t have hurt. Other entrees were $23-34. Glad someone else was paying the bill.

For our Mom's 90th birthday party we booked a private room at Serratto for 11 people. We couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate Mom. The room was just the right size to visit, enjoy a glass of wine and appetizers before sitting down to dinner. We ordered directly from the menu and each dish was excellent! Favorites were Leg of Lamb, Venison Osso Bucco, Filet and Scallops. We were never rushed and had plenty of time for stories and celebration. There was a minimum charge for the room which we didn't reach but were able to take two beautiful bottles of wine home to make up the difference. Wonderful evening!

We read good reviews about this restaurant, but found the food to be very pricey for what we received. The exception was the garlic fries which were awesome. But as a whole, the $20-$40 dishes were somewhat average, and my ravioli was actually bad to the point where I gave it to my husband - and I am not a very picky eater.

I have been to Serratto many times for both lunch and dinner over the years and have found it an unfailing success. So it gives me no pleasure to report that our lunch yesterday was a terrible failure. Our order was simple: one brioche hamburger and one reuben sandwich. Both came with fries, so let's start with the fries. The fries are house-made, very thin-cut, twice-fried "pommes frites." A more than ample serving brims from a metal cup and they are delicious while they are hot. But since they are thinly cut they cool very quickly. Sadly, when they cool, these thinly cut fries rapidly loose their appeal, since there is no internal meat to retain heat. Thus, after their first few fries, diners are left with a great cup of unappetizing little shoe laces. But the fries are a side dish, so what about the burger and the reuben? Both were incredibly dry and unpleasant. While the "Painted Hills Burger" promised aioli, the promise was unfulfilled. Even with ketchup and bbq sauce the burger remained undressed, save for a pile of crispy onions that only added to the overall arid landscape of the Painted Hills. Altogether unsavory. As for the reuben, of which I have eaten many from New York to Florida to Los Angeles to the Pacific Northwest, this was hands down the worst I have ever encountered. Once again, it was an arid insult, so dry that the corned beef had broken into little flakes that looked and tasted like wood chips. There was, alas, no evidence whatsoever of the promised Russian dressing, dressing that would have moistened and bound the contents of the sandwich together. Serratto is a marvelous location. Diners who look up as they enter will see one of the greatest old-growth beams in a public building in Portland. There is a fine small bar and the kitchen has an excellent pizza oven. Clearly, however, Serratto needs to rethink elements of its menu; some things may be getting stale... or dry.

The restaurant is a bit noisy, but it is worth it for the delicious food. The lamb dish that I had was superb. Unfortunately, I didn't have any dessert.

An airy restaurant on a street in NW Portland, Serratto has the ambiance of a neighborhood place with a special occasion feel added in. Service was friendly, helpful. At our server's suggestion we shared the quail starter. Terrific! I had the risotto with mushrooms; my husband had the cavatelli with shrimp. Both were outstanding - the flavors very sophisticated yet earthy. Definitely a place to return to when we're back in Portland

We were disappointed by our return trip to Serratto. Everything was exceptional in April. Not so in August. The most disappointing was the tasteless tomatoes that were the glue of a salad caprese. They looked great on the counter, but they just looked good. When the bouillabaisse was served, it emitted a fishy smell. Not a good sign. Sorry to see this restaurant take a slide.

This place was recommended by a friend. A little pricey for how I normally dine, but definitely worth it. Especially if you are looking for great food and wine. I had the pork tenderloin and it was perfect. Great flavor and perfectly cooked.

I organized a group dinner for 15. We were given a private room and a short menu. The service was good. The food was delicious. It was a pleasure working with the staff. We will go back.

This was so bad, and not really even deserving of two stars, but I can see how others might have a better experience, and I'm trying to be fair. That said, I won't be giving Serratto a second chance. When you pay "nice" restaurant prices for chicken, you expect that they might know how to cook it. It was so incredibly overcooked that I took two bites and gave up. I ate all the vegetables, which were decent, but cut and presented poorly with a pretty basic sauce on them. The pizza margherita we ordered as an appetizer wasn't bad, but it needed salt, and if they used fresh mozzarella, they fooled me. The food wasn't the only problem, though. We had the joy of sitting next to a table that had a dog attacking other dogs on the street, a kid that was running up to everyone to annoy them, and on FaceTime on their phone at full volume for half the meal. It isn't the restaurant's fault this happens, but at a certain point you say something to make the experience for your other customers better. The service was incredibly slow and inattentive, as well. We waited 40-45 minutes for our food, without a word from our server during that time, and we had to go track down our server to pay, as she finally brought us our check but then ignored us again. I don't see how this place has such a high rating, but I think it might be that Portlanders are lowering their standards far too much.

We were very pleased with our lunch here. The ambience was nice and the service quite good. We started by splitting the chopped kale salad which they bought to the table divided in separate plates--always a nice gesture. The salad was a delicious combination of sliced kale, thinly julienned apples and Grana Padano cheese along with pine nuts and dried sour cherries tossed in a wonderful vinaigrette. The Radiatore Bolognese was absolutely delicious with the big squat corkscrew pasta loaded with the lamb and pork Bolognese finished off with pecorino cheese. The Idaho trout was cooked to perfection topped with broken Marcona almonds on a bed of farro with a flavorful brodo full of oyster mushrooms and leeks. We are definitely coming back;-)

Stopped by for lunch and it was a very good experience. Good size seating area plus an adjoining bar area. We were seated promptly and good variety of items on the menu. Had the eggplant Tagine and the Radiatore, and both were delicious. Very generous portions. Our server, Tiffani, was very personable and she checked on us regularly. Very relaxed atmosphere. Very nice neighborhood restaurant.

We really enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at Serratto’s restaurant last night. The service was excellent even with a crowd our waiter gave us a personalized dinner experience. The food was amazing braised beef so tasty and a very generous portion Best burger in PDX. Professional fast service Good food Good ambiance I definitely recommend this restaurant

I usually love this place. I always get sweet potato empanadas but they took that off the menu. Tried sea scallops. Really disappointed. They were bland and not good. The waiter never came back to check on us once our dish was delivered. I was going to get something else but I was so hungry I tried to eat the scallops. My mouth was filled was disgust. It's hard To wreck sea food but they did. So don't get that dish. My partner had wild mushroom risotto, it's superb. So creamy and the wild forest mushrooms are mouth watering. I do have to say my veggies on my plate were so flavorful and magnificent. I could just eat a big bowl. This place knows how to make some wonderful veggies. I def will go again just staying away from their sea food. Just disappointing to pay 35 bucks for 4 scallops that's were disgusting. Ended up ordering desert and eating it to try to get rid of the sea scallops after taste.

We went our first night in Portland and enjoyed a very nice dinner. DW had the bulloubaise and I had a pork chop. Preparation was excellent and service was top notch. Nice location. We’d go back.

We really enjoyed this restaurant after leaving a very loud and annoying one down the street. It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy the sites and sounds of the city as well as the cool air. We started with piquillo peppers for appetizer and had Pappardelle and Ravioli for entrees. They were fantastic. Finished off with chocolate cobbler which was lovely too. Everything was very fresh. Glad we decided to try this place. Service was pretty good, but I enjoyed not being rushed.

First time visit for us 3 girlfriends. We shared Calimari and the crab salad to start - both delicious. Then the bolognese raddiotorre and the shrimp pastas. The bolognese was outstanding. We ordered the smaller portions of the pasta dishes which was plenty and saved room for dessert. We ordered the chocolate “soufflé” like dessert and it too was delicious. Another highlight was the bread served with the meal - amazing hot, crusty Italian bread with absolutely fabulous olive oil. The service was great, the ambiance and decor are great. Wish I lived in Portland so I could go again. Make a reservation if you want to go. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Excellent lunch of Idaho trout! Server (Erik) was cheerful, helpful with selection. The trout dish was delicious. Atmosphere totally upbeat! Would return anytime I was in Portland.

Based upon a recommendation from a local, my husband and I had dinner at Serratto on a Thursday night. We were seated quickly without a reservation, and service was efficient and attentive throughout the meal. I enjoyed a wine flight with three Italians varietals that complemented my meal of silky French onion soup and delicious ravioli well. My husband's Caesar salad was very traditional and perfectly dressed, and his mushroom risotto was delectable and filling. The bread served before our meal was outstanding--perfectly crusty and rustic--and enhanced by olive oil. This was a terrific dining experience, with exceptional food quality and good value for the area.

Absolutely horrible! The service was mediocre at best! The food was overcooked and very dry and for what we paid it was insulting! They claim to be a fine dining restaurant, they are not! The waitress was not interactive. She obviously hated her job! The manager was Soo rude and extremely pompous. Do not waist your time or money on an overinflated restaurant!!!

We've visited this lovely spot three times and all three have been excellent experiences. The rigatoni with spicy Italian sausage just hit it out of the park for me. The atmosphere is just right . . . bright and airy during the day but with a touch of old Portland. The wait staff is very knowledgeable of the menu and wine list.

Serrato can accommodate small and large groups. It is a great place to meet friends or have a quiet intimate lunch. The food is excellent, and so is the service.

I visited Serratto a few days ago with friends for happy hour. We've been coming here for years and it has always been rock solid and a good value. Unfortunately the service was so awful this last visit I don't expect any of us to be returning soon. The sour faces from the wait staff and reluctant service were pretty apalling. Our main server was quite over the top, pulling faces when she was inconvenienced, but the others that waited on us were not much better. Too bad, as we've enjoyed this location for years. Maybe if you are young and beautiful you'll have a better time. Me, I'll go next door to Bar Mingo next time I go out in NW Portland.
So much potential, but missing the bullseye
Went here with a couple of friends. The atmosphere is very nice and the servers are great. On top of everything and making sure everyone is having a good time. If this restaurant was not lacking in what I am about to mention then it would get 5 stars. The first is the presentation of the dishes. Just super sloppy. Sloppy to the point that it looks like our plates were not washed. Drops of oil all over and oil on the lips of the plates too. The lamb I got, although delicious, looked like it had slid down the side of the plate it was on like a smear of poop. It was just so bad. The second is the bathroom situation. Its basically a McDonalds bathroom at the end of the night. When you go into a place paying 40$ a plate, you expect the bathrooms to be nice and clean. There was urine on the toilet seat, grime on the ground. The atmosphere is totally ruined by the cheap look of the bathroom. It definitely needs to be renovated.
