we tried this restaurant for the first time this last sunday ...we ordered take out . everything was great ....will go back again

We went there twice in two night. We were seated right away even though it was busy. Service was excellent. Even though I am persian and can make some of the dishes better, this place is an excellent place to have a persian meal. Servings are very generous even when you split them. You should expect to take some home!

The starter platter is delicious and also the Tzadi (burnt rice). Kabobs are well made. Great food. Ambiance is ok but go there for food.

Very good Persian food. Portions of food are really generous. Lamb shank is the best. Bread made in house. Decent kabobs. Recommend this place.

In a city with lots of Persian cuisine to be had, nice to find a spot frequented by natives and full at lunch, all a good sign of an authentic experience. Enjoyed shirazi salad, chicken kebab with the fixings and enough rice for a family. Good lunch value.

I've been to Shamshiri Grill several times over the past few years. I've always enjoyed their unique ethnic food (Persian) though I'm frequently stumped as to what to order (so I usually order the same-ish thing). This past Friday night, I took my husband there who wanted to give it a try. In the past, I've brought Koobideh (it a ground meat grill thing) and cherry rice (which IS really yummy) and he liked it so he was willing to now try the restaurant in person. The first WARNING sign was his iced tea, which we noticed was cloudy after he sweetened it. We realized that it wasn't the sweetener so we called the waitress over, who took it back! She then came back and offered us some new iced tea, saying that the entire batch looked cloudy so they re-made it! Husband is convinced that they just put too much powder in their instant iced tea and that it was probably a powdered Nestea they used to make the iced tea. (Yuck!) Gordon Ramsey would likely have a field day with that! I know it's difficult to stock everything fresh in a restaurant, BUT isn't that what we pay for? We shouldn't have to have old food, bad food or iced tea made from a powder in a restaurant. We ordered a hot eggplant appetizer that was extraordinarily garlick-y and rich. It didn't come out on time, like an appetizer, instead arriving late with the main course. My husband liked it though, I didn't. For entrees, i had the grilled trout, since the waitress recommended it. My husband had the beef koobideh. I ordered tabouleh with the trout as one of it's side dishes but the tabouleh arrived early instead of the eggplant appetizer we ordered. The tabouleh was good, but a little bit dry. I personally like my tabouleh with tons of parsley and I only get it this way here, at home or at another mediterranean fast food place that i like. My husband liked his entree. My entree was adequate but nothing special. I was happy that i could order fish. However, it wasn't de-boned properly and there were tons of little bones so you had to be very careful when eating it. The mileau was adequate. Watching the service staff and the kitchen was humorous only because Gordon Ramsey would have a field day here. They seemed quite disorganized. I am sorry to say (because i liked this place) that unless they shape up that this place has seen its' day.

Authentic Persian cuisine. Service excellent. You should try the Persian ice cream with safran and pistachio …. Just excellent.

Shamshiri is more than a restaurant-- it's a place that let's me know that everything is not merely possible, but is, at the moment of my dining, absolutely perfect. The eggplant, the hummus, the rice, the salads-- completely satisfying every known taste bud, and awakening all others! My whole being comes alive with the flavors. It's like a spiritual experience at the end of a fork or spoon. What a blessing!

love this restaurant. Go during their lunch special if you are in a budget. My favorite is the Beef Koobideh!

I ordered kobideh, salad shirazi and ash-reshte and it was alright. The kobideh was overlooked and had a plastic kinda of chewiness to it. Edible but wouldn't go back.

My son in law is from Iran, so when we visit LA we often visit "Tehrangeles" for a meal. This time, the restaurant we usually go to appeared to have closed, so we tried Shamshiri instead. Great choice! Parking is on the street, so it can be challenging. But worth it! I love the Persian "stews", served with more rice than any non-Iranian can possibly eat (!) These folks know their rice. Strongly recommend the "pizza" appetizer, which is probably the only non-authentic thing on the menu, but a wonderful, eclectic mix of Persian and American cuisine. Looking forward to our next visit!

As a first time experience with persian food it was delicious and Sooo much food! There was so much food that we could have split a single entree and still had enough. I had the lamb kabobs and they were cooked perfectly however I found myself wanting some type of sauce or dip. Thankfully my wife had the vegetarian stew and wow oh wow! I enjoyed that more than my own meal. As I've said before there was so much food I got to eat about half of her stew and it was the perfect sauce I was looking for on my rice. Next time I would try the Lamb stew. It was also a great value for all the food you get. Would definitely come back for this food. Thanks for making my first time experience a memorable one.

Good service, good food, but when I ask big table because we are big family they not respond us............... ........

Looked up items on website, for takeout, with prices and had to pay almost $10 more at checkout. Got order to home had no hummus or sauces with either wrap selection ( very dry ). Ordered chicken kabob with dark meat; got dry white over cooked and rice had to be sitting around as not moist and lacked flavor.

The food was very good, and the atmosphere is lovely. We went for dinner tried both the chicken and beef, and both were perfect.

If I could give them zero stars I would. They are the rudest people ever. I had to wait for my family to join me, so this guy who couldn’t even crack a smile at you removed 2 people who just sat at this table and to my surprise offered that table to me!! After 15 minutes the same guy came back and with the rudest tone ever told me that they needed the table and I had to give up the table because it took TOO LONG for my family to join me. He made me leave the spot just like what he did to the other people before me, and made me wait somewhere else. The guy was not even smiling the whole time he was talking which is weird because this is America dude, you are supposed to be nice to your customers. You don’t treat the customers like cattle in this country, I don’t know why this guy couldn’t even smile at you when he was talking to you. It’s the service that sucks not the food. There are many Persian restaurants on Westwood Boulevard, and I would never ever go to Shamshiri again. I recommended Farsi Cafe which is only 2 blocks down on the same street and has better food and service.

Last Saturday we had lunch at Shamshiri on Westwood Blvd, and overall we were very disappointed. - Our server was very inexperienced, We received very poor service, but he was good at reminding us of the gratuity!! We left 15% but honestly, he did not deserve anything at all! - Food was ok, the food quality was nothing close to the food quality back in the 80s and 90s - We were overcharged, but the server pretend there is nothing wrong with the bill It was a very unpleasant lunch experience and we were disappointed!

Home cooking, abundant and appetizing dishes. Spicy and colorful cuisine. Diversified menu. Pleasant and helpful staff. The site is rather basic. It’s the Persian granny who is in the kitchen

The Shamshiri serves delicious food, generous portions in a lively, fun scene. Plenty of people sharing food and drinks, laughing and talking to each other in a casual setting.

Authentic Persian cuisine here. The specialty is a chicken type kabob thou not on a stick. The portions are generous. They are known for there stews and take off on Middle Eastern cuisine. They presented the table with cut radishes, mint leaves and raw red onion with toasted pita for everyone to enjoy. We had a great time.

We were really craving some good Persian food, and where else but Tehrangeles would have that? Well boy were we dead wrong. The food here was by far one of the worst I have ever eaten, I can make better food in my sleep. My dad and I decided for the Vegetarian Khoresh Karafs, which we hadn't eaten in years. Basically, the only difference in the non-vegetarian version is that this one had no lamb. Anyway, for starters, they gave us a salad choice and I opted for Shirazi. After trying it I was disappointed, it tasted nothing like real Shirazi and both my Dad and his Friend who are Iranians agreed it was a shame they even called it Shirazi. Well by the time the main Course came we became even more disappointed, the only thing fit to eat was the Rice and side of bread. Even our friend who ordered a type of Kebab said that his was terrible too and very dry. What was the most shocking was that this Restaurant had been given the honor of "Best" Persian restaurant by Huffington Post. Thankfully the manager did not charge us for the Khoresh Karafs and he apologized. I am wary of trying any other Persian restaurant in 'Tehrangeles' again after this terrible experience. I do not recommend this Restaurant.

A friend of ours took us here while we were visiting LA and it was amazing! Food is prepared fresh (you can watch them cooking It over hot coals) and is delicious. The atmosphere is inviting and full of energy. We would definitely return to this restaurant if we are in the area. Highly recommend.

We ordered a mixture of food for delivery. Delivery was quick, food was really good, lamb, roasted chicken and the veal special. Eggplant dip, spinach. TONS of different rice.

The food is over the top, went their twice with my family and ordered multiple dishes. The koobidehs are superb but don't shy away from the stews..... those are a hidden treasure! My favorites are the ones with sour grapes! The staff is lovely too. We had to dine there the last night of our stay in LA to remember the sweetest memories of a truly diverse city as we departed!

I really really like the food here. The lunch is great, as the soup is to tasty. They have a lot of Persian specialties, like the chicken-filled "crusty" rice, and the burberry rice is great. The koobideh is spiced well, and of course the lamb shank is delish. It is not that expensive either.

This gem in Westwood area of West Los Angeles is a must for those looking for ample serving of delicious Mediterranean/Persian foods. The lamb kabobs are so so good! It's fun to have a view of the grilling station in the kitchen from the dining area too. Great salads, veggies and wine selection too. They can handle a larger party as well, just make a reservation and you in.

Shamshiri was packed when we visited recently for lunch. The service was nevertheless prompt and cheerful. The menu is extensive and the pricing and portion sizes are generous. The food was average to slightly above average. The crowd appeared to be weighted toward Persians so the other reviews attesting to authenticity of cuisine are likely very accurate. It was certainly clearly quality Mediterranean food. We will be very likely to return given how positive this first experience was.

Over rated place. The food tasted below average, especially the Kabab Kobiedah. It was too thick and dry. All the food lacked Salt, it was horrible. They were generous with the amount of food per plate, however, the waitress Never mentioned anything about that !!! Especially that she noticed we have Three kids with us. So we end up with alot of left overs with us. Basically, it was a very a very bad experience, if not the Worst.

We tried a variety of dishes after visiting UCLA. The specialty dishes were tasty; chicken and beef better than the lamb. Hummus was good. Overall too much food for 6 people. One plate is good for 2 or 3 so watch your portions. Fairly reasonable prices, especially if you share.

We try to eat at Shamshiri almost every time we visit the Westwood area. The food is very good and the service is great. We ordered Tadig with Fesenjan and I was surprised at how large the appetizer was - a full plate size - and it tasted great. We also ordered a side dish of Adass Polo, which was larger than expected and also delicious. Unfortunately, this particular time, we had an issue with our Kebab. The taste was very good, but the Kebab was, for some reason, a bit tough to cut. Not sure what the issue was. In any case, the manager took care of it to our complete satisfaction. (We had not had this issue in the past, and I assume it was a temporary issue for that day.) All in all, in spite of the Kebab issue, I rate this restaurant as 'excellent'.

Patience... Bring a lot of patience, especially since they don't take reservations for parties smaller than 6. We arrived at 7:35 pm on Valentine's Day, and the place was packed. Good sign, and lucky we weren't that hungry. The host (the owner?) greeted us and said 15 minutes wait. Are you kidding? There's no way it'll be that short of a wait, so after waiting 10 minutes, I whipped out my phone and started timing him. Meanwhile, the guy was juggling customers, telling us to stand here, stand there, move here, move there. I had faith he knew where he was putting us, until.... the party of 4 who came AFTER us got seated before us, while a young couple who arrived before us was still waiting. (Minus one star there!). Ok, I get its Valentine's day and you want to put couples in tables of 2, and let the 4-somes have bigger tables... but looking at my stopwatch, the supposed 15 minutes creeped into 27 minutes. Quit giving away our tables! Finally... I tapped the guy's shoulder and showed him my phone. When will we be seated? I asked? Huzzah! A miracle occured... he found a table and we were seated immediately and he even said "See I didn't forget you" (yeah, right). So in order to get a table faster, you need to hound him? By then it was 8:30. We have a table... What could possibly go wrong now, right? We started off by ordering the Eggplant Borani for appetizer. Our server said they don't offer that anymore and suggested KASHK-E-BADEMJAN, which was similar, but used yogurt whey instead of yogurt. Fine, lets do it. I'm hangry now. For our entree, we decided to go family style and order the CHICKEN SHAMSHIRI, a combination of Chicken Barg and Chicken Koobideh, and added a side order of Beef Koobideh. The server suggested adding an extra tomato. Sure, Sounds good, order placed! UNFORTUNATELY while waiting for our order, the host/ owner said they ran out of the chicken koobideh, and asked if we wanted a beef or lamb koobideh. Since we had beef ordered, we chose lamb. UGH.. what else can they run out of? The food came out, and, in typical Persian fashion, the portions were huge! The appetizer, Kashk-E-Bademjan was delicious, and went well with the fresh baked bread. When the entree came, the rice came in a plate all its own, and mounds of rice it was! Even though we shared the platter, we still had left over food. The FOOD saved this review from falling below 3 stars. I am a patient person, but don't tell me that it's 15 minutes when the place is jammed packed on a "holiday".. .and don't bump me because I have 2 in my party, when you gave a table for 4 to someone who came 15 minutes after me. That's Bull crap! Do I give 3 or 4 stars? Giving this 3 and a half stars because it was good food, but lousy service, but since there's no 1/2 stars, it'll be a 3 star for telling us "15 minutes" when it became 45.

We went here on a late Monday night and it was busy. Our waiter was pleasant and the food arrived on time. They had different types of Iranian soups that we haven't tried before so it was a good experience.

Outstanding kebobs and appetizers, all well prepared, plus a number of Persian stews and specialties you don't find everywhere. Place can be noisy and crowded for dinner so arrive early if you like it quiet, or come for the excellent lunch menu, which includes very reasonably priced food bargains.

Me and my husband really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere it's cosy. the quality of the food was great. we liked the grilled shape chops and the rice. I also recommend the appetizer .

Ordered takeout while at the Beverly Hilton. Speedy delivery and tasty food. The portions were enormous, and as I eat mostly vegan, it was great to have so many choices. I don’t live in a place where Persian food is plentiful, so having something other than a salad was great. My husband ordered the lamb kabob, and he enjoyed it. The hummus and pitas were also very yummy. Good choice in the Westwood area.

darya tastes a little better

Well, the food is actually decent, hence three stars (would be four if not for other factors). The service could be good or not so good. If you don't like being super warm or hot, skip it during hot weather: the owner doesn't love AC and if any guest will say it's cold, they'd turn it off immediately and never turn it on even if a lot of people very uncomfortable. You could be served quickly, but could also be a bit forgotten. I like their kebabs (chicken is the best), the fish could be a bit underwhelming though. If you do take out, they used to include shirazi salad with every order, not anymore. But the portions are decent (although that applies more to rice than meat, but the meat portion is very fair).

The food was delicious especially the beef and lamb. The staff is helpful and we didn't wait long time for the food. But the price is high. The bill for two person is 120$.

This place is located in a heavily Iranian area with several similar restaurants, but this by far the best of all. All of the dishes are authentic and service outstanding. If you are looking for this outstanding cuisine in LA, this is a great choice.

I have tons of Persian friends, some of whom were raised in Iran, and this is ALWAYS the place they recommend. What more endorsement could there be?

The food in this restaurant is outstanding in variety and preparation. The baked mashed eggplant appetizer (kashk-e-bademjan) was amazingly good: we wiped the dish clean. Falafel with sesame tahini sauce is also a good starter. The restaurant is known for Polo dishes--variously seasoned basmati or brown rice dishes, most served with chicken or lamb shanks. The Shirin Polo, with slivered almonds, pistachios, and orange peel, was delicious. The chicken was tender, perfectly cooked, served separately from the rice. Our friends liked the lamb shanks. Portions are generous: four of us shared two appetizers and two entrees. We had eaten here on a previous visit to Los Angeles and were eager to return. We were not disappointed!

Shamshiri has been in a decline over the last years. Since I love persian food, I decided to give it another chance today. The result: very oily, heavy thadig that lies like a rock in my stomach. The vegetables on the side were dry and old. Time to find another persian place in Teherangeles.

I go to Shamishiri for lunch almost once a week. Its a very inexpensive Persian restaurant. The food is ok but not excellent and far from real Persian home cooking. Their Stews (khoresh) have nothing to do with Persian Home cooking. They just resemble the actual persian dish. However, they are somewhat tasty in their own way. Their Kabobs are not the best in town either but given their price point they are ok. The ambiance is very buzzing. The oven baked bread is very good but inconsistent. Overall its a good place to dine for very cheap.

One of the best middle eastern restaurant I've ever tried.... The food taste great, the portion is huge, and the prices is a little bit more than McDonald's! Freshly made to order, me and my friends (we both are good eaters), couldn't finish the entire meal, we had to leave for an hour, then we came back for the desert... (which was YUMMY!!!) I'm thinking of visiting LA again just for visiting Shamshiri (If I can afford that!) HINT: There is a next door foot massage where you can take a break and make some room for the deserts! LOL

Food fresh delicious. Restaurant very popular. No reservatiins required. Portions hugh. Parking an issue but meters svailable on westwwod blvd.

I was here for a group dinner, served family style - so, perhaps a different experience than most. The food was terrific! The sour cherry rice was so unusual and a great contrast with the dill/cucumber rice. The dips were fresh and full of flavor. Most of my group seemed to really enjoy the grilled meats, but the vegetarians were not ignored - we had two dishes that were both great. One was a tomato/okra in a tomato-based sauce that was really fresh tasting, The other was ... well, I've forgotten the main vegetable (like spinach, but not) with red kidney beans that had a sharp flavor that paired well with the tzatziki dip. The only weakness was the service which was friendly, but a little disorganized - not a big demerit since they were open for 'regular' business while serving our big group. Recommended.

Outstanding - the meat was grilled to perfection and the service was superb. Portions are large so order a lot less than you normally would

very good food and service, clean and busy.

We have been going to Shamshiri grill for the past 30 years. Every time we visit LA, we must eat there. The food is consistently delicious, and the staff is very friendly and competent. The ambiance is relaxing and tasteful. It’s spotlessly clean. The chicken as no beef koobida are mouthwatering. The dough (yougurt drink) is very tasty.

Came here for dinner with The Significant Other to try Persian food for the first time, and was not disappointed. The dining room has a nice dinner ambiance, and can get busy. The servers were knowledgeable about gluten-free options and there are several choices, including chicken and fish. Most meats and fish are cooked on a grill kebab-style, and served with rice and vegetables. Spices are simple on the gluten-free options (I had the salmon) and some entrees come with chopped vegetable salad. The portions are very big for the price which is a good thing, as it means a delicious lunch the next day! The service was polite and prompt, and the wine selection varied and reasonably-priced. It's neat that the grill area is behind a glass window so you can see your food being prepared, and grill flames are always fun. Overall, I had a lovely dinner and highly recommend for gluten-free-friendly fare. I'll definitely be back!

My coworker has been raving about this place for many years now. We finally stopped by for lunch and I ordered the Lamb Kabob special and it was very good. I asked for their famous garlic sauce but it wasn't the best I've had and it made me reek all day. Good fast and attentive service. Bring a small car because parking can be tough.

Enter through a secure gate into an open courtyard for warm weather seating to an enclosed warm dining room for the other times of the year. The decoration is traditional Indian with portraits of various yogis and other philosophers decorating the walls as well as tourist sites. The food is excellent, gheymeh dishes and various eggplant preparations.

Last time I had the pleasure of dining at Shamshiri was almost 15 years ago and since then I'm still looking for a place that will serve food even half as good as Shamshiri's Gondi or Lamb Kabab. No luck so far...

Best spot on Westwood Blvd for Persian cuisine. Never misses to satisfy with rich flavors, good service and reasonable value. A go to place she. Hankering for stews and and kobideh are desired. Good lunch deal. Dinner portions huge do share. Enjoy !

We were visiting from Chicago and tried several Persian restaurants and Shamshiri had best Barg, Koubideh and Shish kabob. Our server (Goli) was very nice and polite.

Wandering along westwood we stumbled onto this Persian place on a sunday. The place was busy as a bee!! We asked for suggestions from the charming, helpful waitress. The hummus topped with beef and the appetizers with lamb and tomato simply superb. Will be back!

The food at Shamshiri Grill is incredible - fresh, delicious, expertly prepared, and extremely generous in portion size. Their lamb chops are simply the best I have ever eaten and I have had many. The lamb kabob is fantastic as is the amazing Shirin Polo rice with orange peel and nuts. Also don't miss the appetizer KASHK-E-BADEMJAN - baked eggplant topped with whey, sautéed onions and mint. We could not stop eating - it was all so good! Incredible, delectable food at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

being Persian and cooking Persian food makes us a bit picky when it comes to this. This restaurant does a lot of business and catering and still seems to get things done right. The ownership must have a keen supervisorial eye on the kitchen and the wait staff. The kebab was top notch and serves as the gold standard for evaluating this type of food. The variety of khoreshes was great and the fact that you could get them as an appetizer on tadiq(over cooked rice on the bottom of the pot), is fantastic!!! Well done!!

Amazing middle eastern food! the baba ganoush was fabulous! The Persian rice and lamb dishes authentic. I thought I had to go to the Middle East for this food! Will go back

I ate at Shamshiri with a friend on a Sunday night. It was packed, but we got one of the last available tables. I ordered a fantastic Zereshk lamb dish; it was without a doubt one of the best preparations I've ever had! Next time in L.A. I'll definitely go back.

This is my favourite Persian in LA possibly the world. The $9.95 lunch special is the best deal ever. To start Soup or Salad served with homemade pita, herbs, butter and sauces followed by a choice of main course. Chicken, lamb, fish, beef all cooked to perfection. I was in LA for a week and dined here 4 times. Service is efficient and staff are friendly. Easy parking.

My daughter recommended this restaurant. Glad she did -- had the Huumus appetizer, their special cucumber/lemon salad, and KHORESH-E-GHEYMEH. I couldn't finish it all and had a huge lunch the next day with the leftovers. Saw many people having Kebobs, but I wanted to try something different. Just a word to the wise, the place is packed every night so get there early or be prepared to wait. Highly recommended!

I am Persian so I know Persian food. The host was very courteous and made every effort to seat us as soon as possible. This place is busy all the time. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and except for the 'kashk-e bademjan' all of them were exceptional. The 'kashk-e bademjan' was too garlicky and not as fresh as the rest of them. This is the only poor thing I am going to say in this review. The main course was the 'Shamshiri kebob' and 'joojeh kebob,' both very tasty and grilled to perfection. There is a window into the kitchen where you can see how they grill the food. This is a great idea and makes you even want the food more. The waiting staff were great and the overall service was quite satisfactory. Highly recommended.

WARNING: This is from an Iranian Vegan's standpoint: Every single time I am in LA I make it to this Vegan-friendly Iranian restaurant. Initially, being Iranian, it was difficult for me to go vegan. Kabobs were part of my DNA and all the traditional stews had one type of meat or another. But thanks to this place, I found-out that, done the right way, iranian food are just as tasty vegan. Everything is amazing here. Their baghali polo (lima bean rice with dill) is done right. Their fesenjan (pomegranite walnut stew) is almost as good as my mom's. As is the albalou (sour cherry rice) and Sabzi popl (cilantro, parley, dill rice) OMG, I could go on. The place has a great ambience, and you can see their grill through the windows. I noticed that they did not mix the grilled meats with the grilled veggies.

I've frequented many Persian restaurants, and I am very familiar with the cuisine. This restaurant was recommended by a friend, in an area where there are many other Persian restaurants too. The prices were a little high, and I thought the food was okay. The presentation was appealing though, and the service was pretty good. Overall its worth a try, but next time I will probably try one of the others in the area.

Compering the price and quality? It is excellent!!! Very Delicioussssssss!!!!! I am Persian, I have tried all their food as I live close by and love all of them!!! God Bless the owner providing such a lovely food to the neighborhood!! Their Kobab is excellent ah... everything is Delicious!! I almost have it everyday and not tired of the food!!!

Food is good The woman who answered the phone on 11/11/2014 at 8:50 pm was disrespectful and talking rude Thats not how you treat customers

I meet a friend here for lunch once a month. The food is always good and a true bargain. This is a Persian (Iranian) restaurant and most of the patrons appear to be Iranian. Lunch has a choice of about 12 dishes and none are over $12. They have a lot of kabobs including salmon. They come with rice and great lentil soup. Also good bread and dip. There are other choices also. Never disappoints.

we went there for dinner with two more coupels . Service was a bit slow ,maybe because the resturant was full . The food was awosome (as half persian I can say it also very authentic). For apptizer we all shared TADIG (A Persian Crispy Rice, topped with KHORESH BADEMJAN Stew)-Very good ! For main course I had the GHORMEH SABZI-Fresh green Herbs, sautéed and stewed with Kidney Beans, dried lime and Chicken-very Good ! My husband had CHICKEN KABOB was good too . all served with fresh bread made in place .Yummi !!! Bare in mind that the portions are huge, so it can easly be shared . price is totaly reasnoble. We all enjoyed it very much .

Dishes for all tastes.... Vegetarians/meat eaters must congregate at this hot spot. My personal favorite is: Koobideh 2 skewers of usda choice ground beef (our own blend), seasoned with onions and spices, and broiled to perfection!!! Enjoy!

Great Mediterranean food near Westwood area. It's a good sign of good quality and authenticity when you see a restaurant filled with Persian decent people.

Hardworking cooks grilling meats, seafood and vegetables to perfection. You'll never leave this place hungry. The food is worth every penny.

Not a really fancy place , more like a neighborhood pizzeria but nice , the plates are huge , too much rice , everybody was leaving with boxes , but the meat was crazy good , I took the lamb it was full of perfume , meling in mouth , delicious try it !

It is a good one lace to have different food .. In LA.. The place is look fine ... The furniture is old and standard ... The waiters are helpful and kind. The prices are reasonable The taste 7/10

This place was packed on a Saturday night, but no one seemed to mind waiting a short while for a table—now I know why—this is food definitely worth waiting for! We asked for recommendations from our server so that we could try something new and we weren’t disappointed! We tried a number of the house specialties and found one better than the next. If you like experimenting and exploring new foods, this place is a must! Very affordable; the neighborhood is a wonderful blend of Persian stores and markets that are fun to visit and/or window shop before or after dinner. Save room for dessert and walk down the street to Saffron and Rose Ice Cream shop. We’ll definitely return whenever we’re back in Los Angeles!

Ate here twice this year when in Westwood, both times for dinner. The kabobs are excellent. Huge portions, always have take home leftovers.

Food was good.service was ok. But they charge for bread $4.95. Waiter brought the bread second time without asking me and i was charged $9.90 total for dry thin bread. I will not go there again and be carefull their bread price.

I came recently from Iran and I can say that the "Baghali polo and mahiche" was among the best I had even compared to restaurants inside Iran. nice service. didn't have to wait a long time for our orders although it was a pretty busy day. the wc needed a little bit of attention ;) if you like Persian cuisine, make sure you try this place.

Service: Excellent waiter (Eduardo) and very attentive. There was no host/hostess though to greet you and get you seated. It seemed like you just need to walk in, be noticed, and wait until someone is free to help you. Unfortunate for a Westwood location especially for first timers dining in this very original branch (there's one in the valley and maybe more). Ambiance: Dim and lively. Feels like home and comfortable. It was almost packed for a Thursday night enough to enjoy the meal. Good crowd. The open kitchen is a plus! This branch passes the valley branch by miles in terms of look and feel! Food: good appetizers...eggplant and koobideh sliders; Quantity of the entrees is quite huge. Share! Full of flavor. Love both fish and beef dish that we ordered. The bread served throughout the meal was inconsistent I.e. The 1st batch was hard and not good, however, it was followed by what it really should be. Location: hard to find parking but we were lucky to find a metered parking spot in front. Definitely coming back!

The Adas Polo is tender, delectable, and well-balanced for vegetarians!

We came here with a group of around 15 persons and had a wonderful dinner. The food was amazing: from the salad to the hummus, from the grilled fish and meat to the coconut and mango dessert - everything was delightful. The staff was very attentive, friendly, and yes: funny :-) I hope to come back one day and have another perfect Persian dinner!

Living in W. L.A. and having so many good restaurants to choose from, Shamshiri is the one that I have been going to the most for over 38 years. The food and service is excellent. The portions are large enough for 2 people. What should you order? Anything and everything on their menu...salads, stews, kabobs, etc., etc.! They are busy most of the time ...so be patient. You will not regret it!

Truly No.1 Persian Restaurant in LA. Ordered Tahdig (gheymebademjoon/ghormesabzi) + Lamb koobideh kabab and I should say I have never ever tried such a delicious plate before! The manager was a lil rude which wasn't cool, but the food more than made up for it!

Our dinner was plentiful at a modest price. Service was great. Lots of vegetarian choice too. Really enjoyed the visit.

We went to Shamshiri with friends. The menu was extensive and reasonable. My husband and I ordered lamb kabobs, which were moist and tender, but a little bland. We have eaten at other Persian restaurants where the lamb is marinated in a spicy sauce, which cooks in to the meat. We had no complaints about the service or the ambiance. The wine choices were good, and the restaurant was busy, so we would probably go again.

We got there around 5 so place to ourselves but can get very busy. Our server was very nice to explain everything and be patient with our unusual requests. Food is great Persian cuisine with lots of very specific homemade type stews. Using best of ingredients ]pomegrants , saffron, dill, and really tasty whole wheat flat bread. Portions are big so think of splitting or ordering sides. Prices are reasonable for what you get.

I’ve come here over the years, dating from the time when the restaurant was very small and plates of whole onions were placed on every table (I always guessed that that was a Persian thing – now they have a complimentary small plate of a few slices of onions and a few other tidbits). I always came for the outstanding lamb, but times have changed. For Starters, we selected a Green Salad and a Shirazi Salad (the latter was diced cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and parsley with Lemon Dressing). The Green Salad was quite good, although the out of season tomatoes lacked flavor. The Shirazi Salad was chopped up into small bits (a la Cobb style) and was very fresh, but the Lemon Dressing was too tart and really detracted from the overall flavor of the dish). I selected the Lamb Kebob and, although I requested it be cooked medium, it came to the table fairly well done…and dry. It just didn’t have the lamb taste of days of old. A friend ordered the Shishlick (lamb Chops marinated, skewered and mesquite broiled) and they were tender and savory – we all agreed that this was a better choice than the Lamb Kebob. Another guest chose a lamb curry dish – it had a shank of lamb and a curry sauce that everyone agreed was the favorite and most flavorful of our 4 mains (the curry was very mild and just enough to compliment the flavors - we all kept stealing spoonfuls of the sauce). The final selection was one of their vaunted stews, Ghormeh Sabzi – it was fine but no winner due to lackluster flavor. Both the curry and the stew also suffered from inadequate heating. Portions are very hearty, and there’s enough basmati rice provided to feed a small village. The atmosphere is that of an open grill, light and informal with many Iranians at the various tables (a good sign), and a kitchen where diners could easily view the various meats as they were being grilled. Service was very good, with friendly wait staff who offered easy answers to our questions and to our requests for recommendations. I’ll certainly go back, as I have for years, but will do a bit more homework on what to order before I return.

Very average food, comparably higher price, and average service. We ordered "Bargh Kabob" and "Koobideh Kabob". Bargh kabob should be well cooked outside and tender inside. Bargh kabob in this restaurant was almost rare inside and tasteless. The Koobideh kabob was flaky, the texture was not quite like 100% meat Koobideh.

we visit the Restaurant 4 times each time we come here much better than the other .. very delicious fresh food and Very friendly staff.. i had issue with halal meat becouse i will travel to vegas and they helped me to find store to buy halal meat and chicken المطعم رائع من ناحية النظافه والطعم والستاف جدا ودودين انصحكم بزيارته

Food was OK at best, we had a kebob and a Persian stew ( khoresh gheimeh ) with rice. The stew I should say was above average but the kebob was not good at all, thin pieces of meat that was trying to pass for a real kebob ! Even with the average food I might have given the place a 2 or maybe 3 star but the service and the atmosphere was so bad, so unwelcoming that it even does not deserve the one star. Why do Persians think that if their restaurant is running and doing a good enough business they can treat their customers unkindly and unwelcoming ?!!!! We go to Persian restaurants all over the world including Iran, this place had the worst service and management of all of the places we have been to in recent memory. Never again !

Had a great evening at the Shamshiri Grill. A local pal who took me and two other friends here during my recent trip to LA. Although he's not Persian (he hails from Pakistan) he's very familiar with the cuisine and assured me that this was the real deal. It was excellent. We were in a feisty mood and ordered vats of succulent kabobs with heaps of salads and vegetable dishes to be washed down with ample wine. The food was really good, the atmosphere suited our mood, and the service was first class.

Out of this world Persian food! Best in US. Great service and Authentic food. Too. Ad I don't live in LA or maybe it's great thing otherwise have to increase your workout by an extra hour.

All four of us in the family are lovers of Koobideh Chelo Kebab . Wherever we are we look for Iranian Restaurants and go! SHAMSHIRI by far was the worst food ever . I have just posted a review on the Yelp too . Waiter was ok just a bit fake but tolerable. The food didn’t look very good on arrival as vegetables were charred black , tomatoes weren’t even cooked ( too intensely grilled). The rice was undercooked solid and stodgy and heavy no flavour no aroma, kebabs were dry as a wood again no flavour no taste worst of all crunchy onions while eating. Complained and returned mine quietly and was taken off the bill and while this was going on Kids refused the food half way through complaining ! Management were happy if we paid for the rest even they all were substandard ! Very disappointed with SHAMSHIRI in Westwood . Never Again!

So unbelievably fresh and authentic is this food. The service is efficient, caring, willing to meet any request or need!

Shamshiri is located within walking distance of my daughter's home so we have eaten here 4 or 5 times when visiting Westwood. Several times it has been great, the food, the service, everything. But when dining outside the prime times (a late lunch between 2 and 3) the food was disappointing. The flat bread is wonderful when it is fresh from the oven but when you come later you get bread that is hard and cold. The kabobs are great but when ordered later they can be dried out and over-cooked. So if you want to visit try to time it right and everything should be enjoyable.

We tried out this restaurant with friends while visiting los angeles. Let me tell you my notes about the restaurant: indifferent waiters, the waiter was in a hurry and didn't engage with us completely, her eyes were wandering the place...the restaurant atmosphere was loud, no music was playing or anything in the background to lessen the effect of the noises... the food was average, not something special. One of the things that i notice about every middle eastern restaurant is that whenever their business is running and ok , the quality of food and everything goes down hill, because they know no matter what they serve, the costumers will keep on coming, they don't know how to value the paid customers well. I don't think i will visit this restaurant again.

My friend took me here for a good food and it was very good.I loved the meat and rices as well as Turkish tea.I also met a nice waiter who speaks Turkish👍hope to be back.

Regarding chicken.... You really can't freeze chicken breasts and end up with anything good. Persian restaurants use non-frozen fresh chicken breasts that are grilled after seasoning with a touch of saffron and onion puree kept overnight and then sprinkled with a kosher salt and a bit of corn oil....and then the skill of grilling slow over medium temp coals... Shamshiri does this with extra care and it makes such a difference. Try their exquisite ''jujeh'' kabob and you will be so amazed at how good chicken can be prepared and it is delicious x 10.

If you are seeking excellent,....not good,...but excellent Persian food the next time you are in West Los Angeles, go to this place. The food is excellent, the service is excellent and the place has a great energy. Its authentic as you will se with the number of Persian's in the restaurant. There is also a great energy as the restaurant as it's generally packed. If you're a party of 2, you can generally wallk up. The portions are large and I suggest eating family style. The BEEF KOOBIDEH KABOB is incredible. The Babaganoosh, Hummas, Chicken Kabob and virtually any other dish you see on their menu. All the dishes are clean, well seasoned, simple and tasty. This is an excellent restuarant. Oh,...you will have leftovers.

Great appetizers, although hummus is average. Kebabs are very good. Shawerma is average, the chicken should be better diced. Beware that entrees are MASSIVE portions, can easily split.

I visited Shamshiri restaurant with my wife 2 years ago. Then I came this time with a friend. We like the taste of their dishes and the way they were cooked. Their dishes are delicious as usual.

Wonderful Persian food, one of the best. With generous portions, it's a good idea to be hungry when you go. I recommend their daily lunch specials. I also like the patio area which is quieter than the main room. But wherever you sit the food is delicious.

There are a number of Persian restaurants along Westwood Blvd just south of UCLA. Based on reviews in TA (and other sites) we opted to try Shamshirl. Good choice. Chicken kabob juicy and tasty. Tahchin chicken also excellent. The Khoresh-E-Bademjan (an eggplant stew with chicken) was tasty but too salty. Portions are generous. Entrees generally $15-18. Service pleasant and rapid.

Of Iranian origin, I was very apprehensive about going to this restaurant because in general Iranian restaurants are much worse than at home. However, what a discovery! The kebabs (grilled meats) are excellent and made literally in front of you in an open kitchen. I have never had such good grilled food in Iranian restaurants. Well done! I also tried one of the stews (Ghormeh Sabzi), the lamb meat is succulent with the whole bone, and the stew itself could be improved, I have tasted some of the best, but it is good. In addition, the service is perfect, nothing to say. I will definitely return there during my next visit to LA because I loved it.

We are in Los Angeles for a week , and we have to see everyone ! So we met up With these friends who took us out to this restaurant to " catch up " with family stories and pictures! Since it was October 31, the restaurant was quiet ! We started with a plate of appetizers, hummus , tahini, Khiar, Persian bread , 🍞stuffed vine leaves 🍃, falafel , on a large plate with lettuce and tomato 🍅 slices, nice presentation ❗️ We also had a sampling of 2 stews called " khoresh " one was Gormeh Sabzi which is all green herbs chopped with red kidney beans and.beef cubes ! I didn't try the other one , but u will see it on the picture ! Persians go crazy for the potatoes on the. Bottom of the stew pot! Called " tadik " ❗️ Then we ordered the main dish : which each couple shared , their portions are way too big The other couple shared the rainbow trout with rice 🍚 We ordered the mixed chicken skewer ( white / dark meat 🍖 chicken 🍗) served with grilled tomato, grilled onion , lime , and delicious 😋 brown rice , Shirin polo ! Yum For dessert we had bamya, and zeloubia, honey 🍯 fused desserts, fried ! Very sweet ! And endless Persian tea ☕️ Nuss-I-Jon Means enjoy in Persian !

Great place for lunch with huge portions. The lunch specials include soup (usually lentil) and a choice of salad, warm pita bread, veggies, and your main course. You will leave very very full, or with leftovers for dinner that night. Enjoy! I hope this was helpful.

great little Persian restaurant in West LA, all the goods such as kobideh, shawarma, hummus and other Mediterranean food, attentive service and just a good lunch break location:)

A group of friends and I decided to go out for Persian food, which I had never had before. Since the eating area is quite small, we were placed out in the deck area that was enclosed, but was rather away from the ambience and music of the restaurant. I would definitely recommend the appetizer plate for a group as it allowed us to try various sauces, hummus, and the falafel bread. We tried various kabobs as our entrees, which all came with tons of meat and rice, much more than one person could or would want to eat. The chicken kabob was nicely marinated and delicious, but the lamb and beef were rather plain. A nice sauce would have livened them up. The food was plentiful though, and we took many boxes home! The service was good and the cost was very reasonable.

This is my third time in this restaurant , I came with my husband and we order the usual kabob with their tasty rice , don't miss out on the yogurt with cucumber ( masto keyar ) and the okra stew as a side dish . The salad is extraordinary .

I went to Shamshiri Grill on Sunday as I do with a dear friend a few times a year! We were both so impressed and in AWE! Every single dish we ordered was better than the other! From the appetizer plate with Felafel, Mustokhiar, Hummus, Tahini, Dolmeh and Borani to the main course! Absolutely delicious! Their Trout was so fresh, I asked for the Pistachio rice which was so yummy! I also ordered the Grass Fed Organic Shish Kabob! It was by far the most tender delicious Kabob I have ever had! I love the atmosphere, from the beautiful Amethyst Geode to the colorful and beautiful paintings and the wonderful friendly staff! I also love the fact we can see the Chefs cooking our meals on the Grill behind a huge window! Oh I forgot to mention the portions are not only delicious but huge, also we were impressed with the beautiful rectangular plates! Thank you to everyone at Shamshiri Grill!!!

First time back since the pandemic, and we ended up here 3 times in a week. Yes, it was that good. Took friends here, and they loved it. Service was excellent. The food was consistently excellent. There are tables on the sidewalk, but too close to busy Westwood for my liking. The fresh breads were wonderful. The hummus was very good. The specialty rice, Shirin Polo, was fabulous, full of pistacio nuts and orange flavor. The chicken kabob was exquisite. We had the dark meat, which was tender, juicy, and flavorful. I had specialty rice with both the chicken and the lamb shank. Way too much food. We have leftovers for at least one more meal, maybe two.

We use to visit this place each time we are in Beverly hills. The menue offers lamb and beef meat cooked on an open fire.Though you will find fish as well. You get rice and vegetables for each dish. The portions are big enough to share. They will always pack you the meal you have failed to eat in the restaurant. The staff is very friendly. There is a paid parking along the street. There is a website of the restaurant.

When I arrive in LA, my first couple stops are Elat Market and Shamshiri. I love the Persian community in Vestvood and the fact that thy's taken over this entire area of LA. The ood here is great. I've heard that they are inconsistent but everytime I've been there, they've been great. Kabob is wickedly amazing, rice amazing and most o' khiar is amazing. Amazing.

Got carry out from this restaurant. The dishes that were ordered were the chicken kebab, the chicken shish, side of okra, side of spinach, rice, and salad. All of this also came with a naan like bread. The chicken kebab was excellent. I also liked all the side dishes, and the rice was enough to feed an army. The chicken shish was okay. All in all a pretty decent place for dinner.

I've been going to Shamshiri for over 20 years now and even now with all the other persian restaurants next to it I've never lost faith in the service and quality of food here.

When you ask about Persian food in LA, most people know of Shamshiri. The place is large, busy and noisy. The menu is traditional. Service seems spotty. Can be very good or you have to search for someone to help you. The food was good, not great. I really like koobideh, but their version was only OK. The kabobs were very good. While the plates are large, they do charge for splitting plates. You do get good value for the price.

So glad to take reviewers' advice and try this place. The most meaty, tender lamb shank I have ever had, served with platefuls of delicious basmati rice (choose dill and lima beans-very savory; pistachios, orange peel and almonds-sweet and fruity; lentils, raisans and currants-sweet and savory together). The food was a very good value too. The pastry desserts were too sweet for us and over priced. However, the persian ice cream was delicious, cool and floral with rosewater and a reasonable price. Friendly, attentive service in a comfortable room, you can watch the kitchen from some of the tables. We will go back next time we are in town.

By far the best Persian restaurant outside Iran, friendly staff, the food is not adulterated, Americanized, original the Persian food I am used to as a Persian from my country. If I should come back to Los Angeles, I know where I will definitely go.

Food at Shamshiri in Westwood has always been enjoyable. Their lunch specials which is reasonably priced includes choice of soup (lentil soup always good) or salad, pita bread with sides of butter, mint leaves, radishes and onion slices.I always order their lamb shank with rice and its always delicious. My friend and I went for lunch and she ordered Tahchin Chicken, she was greatly disappointed because this chicken came out so dry and overcooked. When she asked the waiter(Bahman?)if she can get some sort of juice for it,he said he can always order her a new one,but it doesn't come with any juice or gravy(not wanting to wait for another order) ,she asked if there's a side of yogurt she can have to eat it with and he said sure..the yogurt came ( a plateful of it,very tasty one too).It helped the chicken with the taste..When the bill came,we were charged $6.95 for that yogurt ,so we asked why,he said because we asked for it,so we said we only wanted a small yogurt and he never mentioned that there's additional charge (we wouldn't pay for one, maybe changed the order too)for it.My friend didn't want to make a fuss,so we just paid the bill.I hope Shamshiri will train their waiters to inform guests of additional charges on anything! Its hard enough that some of them don't speak good English,so things should be clear. I always liked Shamshiri, their food is great for Persian restaurant, but this experience put my friend off ( and their family always go there all the time, you would think they would have been preferential in their treatment)

The food is good, the service varies. A/C could be an issue - tends to be a bit too hot and crammed. Contrary to the experts belief, I tend to pick this Persian restaurant over others (disclosure, I live in the neighborhood but am not a huge expert in Persian cuisine). If you're looking for a traditional Persian restaurant grand-ish atmosphere, this one isn't that. More simple and laid back, which I personally prefer. The service is inconsistent, but the food is. I tend to order to take out.

I absolutely love love Shamshiri Grill, from the outside little garden to the beautiful amazing antique looking and feel of the entrance door to the gorgeous decoration, atmosphere, pleasant staff and delicious big portion assorted platters. Every dish id delicious. They have the most variety of vegetarian dishes. I love the fact I can see the chefs cooking through the glass. Thank you!

I had a lunch there.Staffs were slow and impolite ! They were not trained to speak softly and polite . Restaurant was packed in mid week and it seems the number of Staffs wasn't enough . They were running between tables .food was really delicious , specially I like its starters and verity in vegetarian menu . Main dishes come with soup or salad and I liked its taste .

I have had dinner at Shamshiri Grill several times and will definitely continue to go there. The restaurant is great. It is pretty small and cozy not like many of the chain restaurants. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is tasty and delicious. The portions are HUGE :) Seriously, nearly everyone who walks in, walks out with a box! Me, my family members and friends tried several plates on the menu, and I never heard any complaints. Everyone bragged about their choices and how great their plates were. The only downside on the menu is that they don't have a kid's section. If you are planning a big gathering, I would recommend you call and make reservations so that they prepare a table for you instead of waiting for a long time. Cost wise, I think it is reasonably priced. On average, I would say it costs around 25-30$ per person to have a decent dinner over there. This is one of the best Persian restaurants IMHO. Totally recommended.

Great food and great service. Patio table and chairs with large umbrellas next to the wall garden! Best kabob♥️

The food was not good. Even it was not serve properly. My husband and I got sick after eating there.

Busy Westwood Ave has numerous Persian restaurants and admittedly this was my first in this area but I was very satisfied. The mixed appetizer plate we had was phenomenal. I had a beef dish that was way more than I could finish. Others had lamb (best they have had and not overcooked or undercooked), another had a chicken dish with an AMAZING pomegranate sauce I sampled. The food came out in a timely manner. Service was attentive and personal. It was busy and we sat for longer than I normally would given that factor, but never felt rushed. Thanks for a great meal!!

This restaurant may be the best value for your money in LA. If you like Persian food, it is definitely worth going here. The menu is varied and the service is good. We've been many times and whoever we've brought with us has always enjoyed it. Be prepared for leftovers!

Is beautiful restaurant nice environment I order Shawarma , is need to be cut at the same time is going to be served, But it was very old they cut it long time ago and when you order it was reheated with lots of oil so you get really bad Meat I complain he change it after 10 minutes he bring back the same plate with different design also we order falafel plate it was super small Almost no falafel Not recommended

The first time I ever dined in a Persian restaurant, it was Shamshiri. And now no other Persian cuisine tastes as good. In Los Angeles, we're a bit spoiled with the number of solid Persian restaurants we have, but Shamshiri is at the top of the list. I usually order the tahdig (crusty rice) with ghorma sabzi (Persian stew). It's a wonderful choice. I also love the white fish kabab or the lamb khoobideh. Entrees come with rice and that's also where Shamshiri really shines. No one does rices quite like them. My favorite is the adas polo which is a rice with caramelized onion, currants, and other goodies. It's delicious. When you're visiting LA there are a lot of different types of cuisines to try. Shamshiri is on Westwood BL, just a mile or two south of the UCLA campus.

The starters and the main dish were great. They prepare their own bread, that comes as part of the meal. The meat was relatively tender and the rice was quite good. Plate was quite big and full.

We visited with our 3 year old and 1 year old for dinner. When we asked for closed lid water cups for our kids, they said that we would need to order something other than water to get the closed lid cups. This was rather unorthodox for a restaurant to worry about $.05 plastic cups. When I asked the busboy, he said he could ask the manager. The manager came by and said that they ran out of lids and that our waiter was misinformed. He basically threw his server under the bus for his choice to hold back on cups that we could clearly see sitting on the bar counter. At the same time, there was another family where a little girl ordered lemonade and they brought out a plastic topless cup. It was not more than two minutes later that this little girl had sugary juice all over her clothes. I'm sorry, but this was just unfortunate and poor management. My best experiences at restaurants come when the manager or owner feels like he is hosting a party and understands how to make people feel. Unfortunately, this small incident really did not make us feel welcome.

As you enter Shamshiri Grill you are greeted by a cutout of a Huffington Post article proclaiming this the 'best Persian food in LA'. It's hard to disagree. The menu is large and contains a great selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, so there really is something for everyone. I ordered the lamb kabob on the waitresses' recommendation. The meat was tender, tasty and cooked perfectly, and the accompanying bread was fresh and straight out of the oven. The preponderance of Persian American customers testifies the places authenticity. The only thing keeping me from assigning 5 stars is the location: it's on a slightly isolated stretch of Westwood boulevard. Well worth it though if you have a car (as most people in LA tend to do...)

I love going to Shamshiri Grill when I'm hungry for protein. The meat is always tender and tasty. Their rice is delicious, but since I'm not eating many carbs these days, I've recently requested extra salad or grilled veggies. Good-sized portions ~ always love taking some home for the next day.

Great food, great service, BIG portions, and reasonable price. I highly recommend this Resturant as it is one of the best Iranian restaurants in LA.

We try and eat here whenever in the Los Angeles area. The food is really good and we have now discovered they have a vegan menu. I tried the Vegan Adas Polo and it was delicious. We will continue going there when in the area, have never had a bad meal.

This is a new favorite. Best Persian food I've had.

Very good food I had in LA ,I went 3 times during my visit to LA during my three week . The service very grateful .

We ordered Kebob and Tah dig. I cant say anything how much tah dig was Delicious. Home made Doogh was ok but it needs more salt.

A friend was telling me about the various Persian restaurants around Westwood so we drove by and chose Shamshiri based on the fact that about 20 people were going in there at the same time - we figured they knew more than we did. Good plan. Food was delicious and plentyful. Atmosphere was inviting and the waitstaff was friendly, fast, and helpful. My son said it was the best Persian food he ever had. This place is definitely on my list of places to go again next time I am in SoCal.

Shamshiri was recommended to us by a friend who grew up in Iran, so he knows what good Persian food should taste like! We loved everything that we've tried here, particularly the kebobs and the bread. The portions are quite large, so two could easily dine off of one appetizer and one main dish. We like to sit right in front of the cooks and watch them work. The rice pot is HUGE!

The wait staff was very pleasant and helpful in describing and explaining the items on the menu and making suggestions. The portions are huge!

Amazing food, awesome service, very friendly environment. I would recommend to Everyone to go! I had the Kabob and it was full of flavor.

Visited on a Tuesday night with two business colleagues, arrived pretty late but were welcomed in to what was a busy restaurant for mid week. Food was of a very good quality, the size and quantity of each dish was crazy, yet the quality was maintained. Would definitely go back and recommend for both business groups and friends and family.

Ate here last night my son and husband had the filet kabob and I had a house special recommended by the waitress. Everything was delicious and the service was good (not exceptional but nothing to complain about). The fresh bread, mint and onions were lovely. The food was expensive but everything in Westwood is expensive so nothing new. We would definitely go back.

The food itself was pretty good. So interesting to try new stuff. However the music was played so loud that you had to speak very loudly/shout so that the others could hear you. When the entire restaurant dos this it's almost impossible to have a normal conversation.

ordered take-out yesterday from Shamshiri Grill. it was fabulous- i had the salmon lunch special and the lentil soup…….wonderfullllllllll. the menu has a wide choice of delicious food, the staff is friendly and helpful, and prices are quite reasonable. this restaurant is a big help to the community during the pandemic and it is important to support it- and of course the food is scrumptious and they do the cooking!

The best Persian food in LA -- so fresh and tasty -- i get the chicken barg but I ask for the rice to be shirin polo...MMmmm...always leftovers for the next day.

I have been going here since I was a younger and I love it! Really does offer great tasting authentic Persian food. I took my Italian fiancé here and she had a great time. She does enjoy eating Persian cuisine but definitely can be a critic, no negative comments here. We sat in the closed off patio at the front, great spot to sit.

The food was decent, the service was dreadful. The busboy kept passing through our table and knocking things around.. The attitude of the servers was also below aberage at best....

Good food, quality wise and quantity wise. Unique experience of Persian Good, service quality needs to be improved. Waiters needs to be more professional. Food was impressive but supervisor has no manners. Rest is ok

Very nice plate with very welcoming service.the grilled meats and shrimp were very good. I particularly enjoyed the special rice with saffron and dried cherries. Good sized potions as well. Prices were quite reasonable.

Friends and I went to this restaurant on 12/23/15 to have lunch. We were seated, given a basket of their bread, mint and red onions and start a 45min wait to have our order served! They simply had to many out-going orders and those orders were more important than all the people seated at the restaurant. Not only I had to talk to the manager and complaint and his response was: is a kitchen problem so just wait, look at that other table with 15 people they also are waiting too. Not a good response from a restaurant manager, whom lacked customer skills at all. We also overheard another table were they suggested "if you want to eat soon order soup and salad is faster", how could a waiter suggest such thing to a customer who wanted a full meal!! On top of the wait, my order lacked items listed on the menu and when I asked the waiter what happened she simply did not say anything and walked away. I would suggest to anyone who wants to eat Persian food to look for another restaurant instead of Shamshiri Grill that is far from what it used to be years ago. If Trip Advisor had less than 1 star that will be my vote to this horrible restaurant. Do yourself a favor and go else where!

as is usual with mediterranean cuisine, come here with a hearty appetite - dishes are large and are served family style. had lamb, beef, persian rice, salad for 2 of us and leftover would have fed another 2 persons. Server brought a large order of rice and salad even if we just asked for small plates.

Great quality, generous portions and good service. I have been to Shamshiri Grill a few times and have never had anything but a good experience. The best dishes are Kebab and rice. Their grilled salmon on skewer is also very good.

The best shish kebab in town. Great value for your money. Large portion. Excellent prepared meat.

I have been to Shamshiri Grill a dozen times since the mid-80s, and it is one of my favorite restaurants in LA. I went to Shamshiri again during my visit to LA in March and the food quality and service remain outstanding. However, the restaurant is a little tired, and it is time for a renovation. I would like to take this opportunity to Thank Mehdi for his kind hospitality.

This place is awesome. Really really good food, huge portions and a nice atmosphere. We got a table in the glassed room, and it was quiet and warm. Really large variety of food, great quality and reasonable prices. My entree cost $15 and my husband's was similar. We each had one drink, and entree each, and one appetizer for a total of $65 including tip. Truly a fantastic restaurant and I will most certainly return the next time I'm in LA.

This was my first time at shamshiri and I have to admit it kept his reputation from back in Iran in Pahlavi Blvd back in 70’s when they were the best Kabob place in Tehran. I order a pick up and got me the following as it shown picture for only $10 which is reasonable, delicious, healthy and well represented. To me they are now rated as number one Persian restaurant in LA.

This place is apparently a bit of an institution when it comes to Iranian food. I can't remember visiting during my graduate student days in LA, but I am happy to have had the chance to have eaten here on a trip to my alma mater to give a talk. We ordered an appetizer consisting of various tasty spreads, some falafel and pita bread. For the main course, I had the lamb fesenjan, which came with a very large piece of meat on a bone. My fellow diners seemed to be having equally exciting dishes. An excellent and very filling meal.

The portions are very generous - some of our party got plates to share others got their own dish. The folks who got their ow dish took food home as the portions are huge - the chicken was flavorful and moist...they have several different varieties and the chicken shamishiri has a selection of two of their most popular The crispy rice is a delicacy not to be missed. The lamb dishes were also well received. Our first time - we will be happy to return.

I was introduced to this place by a friend in 1995 when I visited her. Since then it has been my LA ritual. I make sure I stop by either for lunch or dinner at this place when I am in LA. Their food is very tasteful, prices are within my budget.

Today we went to Shamshiri for lunch. The server was obnoxious. He made a mistake and brought grilled fish instead of fried fish and simply put us in a position of taking it as he brought it. The Reataurant isn’t updated and is not clean. The service is sloppy. The atmosphere is not very comfortable and is loud. They charged $4 for hot tea, $7 for Mast O Kheiar and $6 for Zulbia. All and all I give it a 3 out of five.

This style hall and space the food is amazing really you will come again once you have try this food. Fresh tasty and full meal size for full day . Lunch is absolute best thing over here.

Visiting from FL, and already eaten here twice for dinner. We ate chicken kabob @ $12.95 and lamb kabob @ $17.95 tonight, both reasonably priced for the amount of food received. Be prepared to take a doggie bag home, but not for your dog. Great tasting food, reasonable prices, excellent service .... perfect combination. Parking can be a challenge, but worth the drive. Hope this is helpful for all you first-timers.
Few parking spaces
Good food. Busy place for lunch. Few waiters: poor service. Too crowded. Too noisy. Tables too close to each other.
