Visited tonight for our monthly girls dinner. Ordered hummus as an appetizer: looked pretty but tasted bland. Needed lemon or salt. I ordered the falafel for my entree: they fried the hell out of those things! Not much flavor at all. They were Served with a few slices of tomato and cucumber which I ate with the side of pita and hummus. Our waitress seemed in a hurry- we were not. She did fill the drinks promptly and offered us dessert, so that's a plus. I so wanted their food to be better. My friends said their dishes were good (gyro plates).

We wanted to try something new so after driving by this place a few times on the way to work I decided this would be the place. It's in a small parking lot and the only thing to notice it by is the people sign. I thought it would be a little shady because of how it looked on the outside but as the saying goes don't judge a book by its cover. Once inside it was cozy and looked amazing. Fish in the corner, decor fit for the cuisine, and wonderful soft music. The waiter was so amazing I have him a Trip Advisor pin. Once he knew we have never had this type of cuisine he explained the whole menu and pointed out their best dishes. Told us what would be more familiar to us and what we should try if we really wanted a new experience. I couldn't stop talking about the food once it was out. It was simply amazing. We ordered different things and tried each other's and everything was perfect. Prices and meal sizes were perfect as well. We plan to go back again soon!

I first ate here 6 years ago. When I came back last week, it was just as good as I remembered it to be. We each had different dishes---one chicken, one lamb, and one beef. All the portions were large and all of us shared and enjoyed them. The chicken with the bayberries and rice was the best of the three dishes

Ate here a year or so ago and finally got back. Started with very good Baba Ganoush. Then had a lamb shank and the combo kebabs as mains. The lamb shank was good to very good. The ground beef and chicken kebabs were very very good. Also bought a Napolean and Cream Puff to take home. All together very good to outstanding. BYOB! took a bottle of wine. The food is VERY wine friendly. A relative bargain. Recommended!

We met some family members there for a pre-holiday lunch. I had the vegetarian platter and my partner had the gyro/Greek salad combo. The food was fresh, hot and tasty and MORE than enough to eat and not more than about $12/person. Everybody took home a to-go box. The menu is extensive and pretty representative of Persian cuisine. The waitress was exceptionally nice and helpful.

Looking for something different while visiting family in Austin. Located in a strip mall, but don't let that worry you. Nice inside. Our server, Barrett was excellent. He had great suggestions, reviewed the menu with us, and had a good sense of humor. We had the Chicken Soltani, Chicken Kabob, Baghali (lamb shank), Salad Shirazi, grilled tomatoes, Hot tea, and a wonderful desert, Makhloot. Everything was tasty, and good quality. We will be back, next time we are in Austin.

This was such a huge surprise! Who would have thought that this tiny restaurant provided such amazing food. I went a couple of weeks ago with a friend for lunch and we immediately decided to take our husbands back. We went back this past Thursday for dinner and once again we were all impressed. The appetizers, salads, entrées and desserts couldn't have been better. The fact we can bring our own wine was a huge plus as well. Service was wonderful! But, if your looking for "fancy" you may want to look elsewhere - if you simply want amazing food...you need to check it out. We will be going back soon! I almost didn't want to write this because I foresee reservations being a necessity once this hidden gem is exposed. I'm a fan!

Started off with complimentary plate of raw onions, parsley, small cubes of feta, walnuts and pita bread - the feta was pretty good. Of our orders: I'd rate the maast-o-khair as pretty good, the chicken sheesh kabab was AWESOME while the chicken tenders were just ok. With a restaurant.com gift cert and a bottle of wine (BYOB), we were certainly not disappointed!

Awesome food! Everyone in my group got something different and it was all fantastic! Best Persian food I have had in a long time!

As someone else already mentioned don't be fooled by the exterior. The interior is really good. The food is awesome. I rarely find Persian restaurants which constantly keep there grilled meat soft, juicy without burning it. There sweets are not that great though but all kabobs are a must try. They also regularly give deals on Groupons so you can get some discounts through that. It also serves halal meat.

This is a great intimate place to enjoy Persian cuisine. The service is superb and the atmosphere quiet. This is my go-to place for lamb shank! I recommend it highly.

One of my best friends is Persian and he suggested we meet here for lunch. Friendly service, convenient location, huge menu. We went with the chicken kabobs. Fast service too.

I've been to this restaurant now on 3 occasions. they really do a great job. For people who observe Halal, their meats are all halal. Everything here is well prepared and delicious. Very typical Persian food I keep going back there. I will continue to visit them.

Had dinner here on a week night. On the outside, a nondescript store front in a well worn strip mall. On the inside, a tastefully decorated BYOB featuring Persian and Greek foods. The lady behind the counter who was also our waitress was very nice, the food was well made and served promptly. We had kebobs and a chicken dish with raisins and lentils plus baklava and everything was delicious. Worth going a bit out of your way to find for a special treat.

Craving Persian food, Buddette and her friend Shehnaz came to Shandeez. It was good food in a simple setting

We love Shandeez! Literally eat here every Friday night; so much that when I call they simply say “the usual for, Brad?” Such a hidden gem in Austin!

I've traveled a lot the past 10 years and almost always look for a good place to get Persian food. It's my favorite cuisine and I'm often shocked at how places famous for food don't even have a Persian restaurant. Austin is blessed with more than one - and is also home to my favorite one: Shandeez. The staff is engaging and the food is on point. Yum. I'm getting myself hungry for their kubideh!

Met some friends for dinner. Started with the good eggplant appetizer. We had a variety of mains that were all deemed very good. Favorites were the ground beef kebabs and the chicken. The beef was just a cut below and everyone liked the rice a lot. Desserts were spectacular. Recommended!

I love this place. It's not big or small it's just right. Every dish I have had there has been great. The staff are wonderful and if you don't have the Fahloodeh you are missing something wonderful.

Every single dish we ordered was great and delicious. The portions are large and it was easy to share among different people.

Went to Shandeez for lunch and had their baba ghanoush, falafel, and vegetarian plate. The food was good and clean tasting, but seems a bit understated to both of us. Need to go back and try their kebabs and heavier foods. No complaints about the food or service, More that it didn't strike us as being as exceptional as others seem to find it. Will definitely go back.

We've gone several times and it's always tasty. I usually get the beef kabobs and rice, though the gyros are also great.

We had a very bad experience in this restaurant. The order took long time waiting. When it came, we found two hairs, one on the lemon piece of the Soltani plate and the other one on the appetizer. The waiter immediately hided the plates and did not allow me to take pictures. I was very upset from these disgusting and awful plates and asked them to cancel the whole order. I expected to hear an apology message from a manager or a waiter, but nothing happened. They have hygiene issue and bad management.

Had good diner with wife on cold rainy night. Greek appetizers with Dolmades and Tzetziki, tasty. Followed by Falafel (which I could eat as an appetizer as well) also ordered Baghali, a lamb dish that tasted very good and Khoresht Fesenjan chicken in walnut/pomegranate sauce, nice soft flavor. Left room for dessert, Makhloot, persian ice with Faloodeh (combine 2 desserts in one). All the dishes are not spicy at all, which might be disappointing for people who like food with that kick to it, you might call it bland but it has very good flavors to it which makes it interesting. Good family atmosphere, not loud, able to have a conversation easily. It is BYOB, but the hot tea served with the food was very pleasant as well, as I said it was a cold and rainy night. If we are in the area would go back for some of the other interesting dishes

A little off the main path but well worth finding it. The dinner was excellent, perfectly prepared and seasoned. You should try all the selections but for first meal the Khoresht Ghemeh Bademjan is a good starting point. The attached bakery is a good place to finish up.
Great food
Just moved from Denver and was happy to find this place with great Persian food. It has great flavor and customer service we will be back
