The ambiance is great modern decor with very friendly service. As its an upscale eatery, prices are above average, but also typical of the high end LA Live area. My Jambalaya was very tasty and not too spicey. My wife had a hamburger and delicious salad (a french fries substitute...) The burger was ok. Pleasant experience, with nice options.

Came here to connect with friends during Grammy week 2019 and was blown away by their customer service, quality of food, decor and the mere size of Shaq's chair! The entire team was great. We ordered A LOT of food - attempting to sample as much as possible. As we were leaving, the GM (Mike) invited us to come back the next day --- and we DID! Mike showed us great customer service and the food was amazing.

Great Place. Unfortunately we just ate so came in for drink only, however, everyone was raving how good the food was. Atmosphere was fun especially just after a game.

Recently following a day of service at an LA conference, a group of 11 ventured to Shaquille’s new restaurant at LA LIVE. This seasoned and well traveled group of Hospitality designers and vendors had high expectations. The home-styled cuisine was perfect for a finicky foodie group. Every menu offering we tried scored high. Thanks to the staff, for speedy, efficient service and suggestions. We arrived early and had the room to ourselves (certain celebrities included) and enjoyed the ambiance with the food. Standouts: ribs, chicken fried, seasonal veggies, biscuit stuffing, hummingbird cake and banana pudding. Suggest the private dining room when with a larger party so acoustics can be more pleasing. Overall, a slam dunk.

WELL, the name is too big for its reputation. fun, friendly and OK but the food was lacking and not what I expected. HONESTLY, I think if Shaq went in incognito (which would obviously be impossible) .... but if he did he would also have been disappointed. Anyway, they need a fast break and a slam dunk next time I am in to impress me ... They have most of it right ... just get the food right as that is what restaurants are all about !!!

I wish to recognize Charles, the person that waited on our table. His excellent attitude, customer service and smile was infectious. Great job Charles! Larry

I admit that Shaq's name got me curious. But it is actually a very good restaurant, I wasn't expecting that it was this good. It can't be located any better than Staples Center's environment. The dining area is designed nicely and the service was pretty good although it could have done better when they had many guests. Fried Green Tomatoes were excellent, Brisket Sliders were sweet, intriguing Kobe Burger was very good, and the Fried Chickens were really good. But I think Shrimp & Grits was a miss throw.

First, the atmosphere is very nice, music is just loud enough, service was excellent, but most importantly, the food was awesome! Everything we ordered was delicious and expertly executed. The menu has good variety so there's something for everyone. So this is a restaurant where you will return again and again to try everything on the menu from top to bottom!

I ate at Shaquille's on the third day it was open. The food and the service were both top-notch. The wait staff works together and met our every need. The music was pretty loud, however, it was a very enjoyable experience!

With the group of twelve, I was hoping to get some service. Our original server apparently had to leave for a break in between and the new one didnt know which order was whose. Out of twelve 4 of them were still waiting for their dinner for 10 minutes after rest of them had received .And then,1 was the wrong entree and the 2nd was not made as ordered. In the end we got 3 free desserts to make up. Everyone was pretty disappointed as we were expecting much better.Food was just ok. It will be a long time before we will go back.

Food is pricey Half order of chicken is $29.00. Greens and Mac and cheese just ok. Biscuits were reheated not fresh. Will not be returning any time soon.

Located in the middle of LA City Live is Shaquille's. Parking is adjacent in an underground parking structure (entered through Olympic Blvd,). Not too expensive for downtown LA. The service was outstanding by Nashay (goes by Shay). We ordered for dinner the fried chicken, Caesar salad, and the Mac & Cheese appetizer. Both the salad and the Mac & Cheese were very good. The fried chicken, which is the house specialty, was just OK (7 on a scale of 1-10). I found the chicken was a little underdone, a little too much fat, and the batter a little too thick and contained an unknown ingredient that I did not care for. My wife said she enjoyed hers. The interior is very modern but a little noisy--not a place for a romantic and quiet dinner. I was surprised that the dessert selections did not include Pecan Pie which is very typical for a southern restaurant. The beer and wine selection was average. Prices were a little high but it is downtown Los Angeles. I was told that Shaq comes around periodically and when he is there, he visits every table--great guy. I would go back but next time I would order the short ribs which looked delicious at the next table.

Wanted to like it. But didn't. First it's only been open 3 months so, maybe things will get better. It's too loud. The hostesses were confused and disorganized. I ordered the ribs and collard greens. Ribs were overcooked and very dry and the greens needed more vinegar and salt for flavoring. I didn't finish my meal.:-( Sorry Shaq

Went here with a group of 10 for dinner and the food was brought out quickly. The best dishes were the Fried chicken and black pepper biscuits! My main dish was the salmon which was seasoned well but a bit over cooked. Drink service was a bit slow but they didn’t put automatic gratuity on the bill, so that was nice. Overall, ok spot but way better places to eat in L.A.

My Best Partner and I decided to go to lunch and we had been talking about trying Shaquille's Restuarant so we decided to go. The our waiter was friendly and fun and was very knowledgeable about the itmes on the menu. We started out with the Fried Green Tomatoes(appetizer), had the sweet tea BOMB, I ordered the Shaq's chicken sandwich w/Jalapeno slaw & fries or you can have a choice of salad and my friend ordered the Grits and shrimp! Everything we had yesterday from the atmosphere to the service & food was incredible! I will definitely be back!!!

Visited this place on our last night in town. The food is ok but the service was better! Will visit again next time in town.

If you’re looking for the best fried chicken you ever had and a very cool and unique restaurant you have to go to Shaquille’s. This place has a great energy, the drinks are amazing , great appetizers, the servers are very attentive and even the manager came by and checked on us. I felt so welcomed and will definitely be back!

It's SUPER NOISY (whaaat? I can't hear you!) but go for the chicken served on a tiered platter. Mac and Cheese. Not the best you will ever have, but certainly worth going to see what THE one and only Shaq likes to eat! BUT very expensive for what it is. $29 for the chicken $11 for the Mac. Be prepared.

Went for a dinner break from a conference. I had shrimp and grits, the serving was large, the shrimp immense, and the grits perfect.

Never buy these, burgers ,,what rhymes with shack, is crap. They are terrible. And for a great NBA player who doesn’t need the money it’s mind-boggling That he would put his name on a piece of crap burger that are sold in retail stores, shame shame shame, do not ever by his burgers. And if you ever read my reviews im followed by 18,000 people. They’re not even worthy of feeding to my pets

Nice place, good service but the prices are outrageous, 12 dóllars for a small beer is to much, didnt see Shaq!!!

This is a wonderful addition to the LA Live lineup. Food was excellent, South of the Border Margerita a winner, and great staff.

This place was really well designed. The service was superb and menu is simple. I love that Shaq threw in a personal touch to it. However ironically, compared to Shaq’s stature, the portion size of our meals were smaller than expected. Otherwise this place was perfect.

To say I’m impressed by Shaquille’s would be an understatement. We came in for dinner last night excited to see the new Shaq restaurant, and we were not disappointed. They did an amazing job with the interior, it is very stylish and modern inside without losing comfort. The food and the staff were absolutely awesome! We all enjoyed every dish that we ordered, but especially the fried chicken. The staff also was so kind and attentive the entire evening, especially the manager. He did an awesome job of checking on every single table and making sure everything turned out great. After our experience here last night, every member in my group has all agreed that we will be back soon!!

The husband and I stopped into Shaquille's to kill time before a Laker game, thinking it would be a kitschy spot with okay food, at best. While it wasn't the best food we've ever eaten, it was definitely better than we anticipated. We all know that southern food is hard to do right outside of the South, but this was a pretty good attempt, especially for LA. The fried chicken was good, the grits were great, but the drinks were the best. Not for flavor, but for the HEALTHY pour that we each got. It was just what we were hoping for before catching a game. Also of note: The service was great! I would definitely return, and would recommend others to stop in for a little pre-game comfort food.

Dined before a Lakers game. Had a reservation, were seated about 20 min after. It was crowded, wait time was an hour. We ordered right away when we sat. Our server, Dom was awesome! Food was delicious. Cocktails were yummy. There was a DJ, music was great!!!! I would go back. Recommend!!!

My son, huge basketball fan wanted to come here entire trip. Thinking we'd see something basketball related on the walls, tv or with the staff, we did not however; food was amazing! We also jammed out to laid back tunes.

We went to a networking/WNBA basketball game at Staples and wanted a nice dinner afterwards so we stopped by Shaquille's. The best part of the experience was the staff, as they were all attentive (good job to them). The rest was like an airball on the last minute of a championship game for the win (a big flop). The ceviche tasted like it was made with fake lemon juice from a bottle (the waiter agreed that he doesn't think it is very good either and didn't charge us for it). My husband ordered the Rib Eye Steak which was very plain except for the overpowering taste of the bluecheese and fried onions they put on top of it. I ordered bbq ribs which had no flavor either. We ordered the purple potato salad which was decent. We spent over $130 for 2 people, but left hungry (took the food home to our dog) and realized we could have eaten a lot better food from the food trucks that are all around that area. Sorry Shaq, we love you as a basketball player and commentator but don't think you should lend your name to this restaurant unless major changes to the food are implemented. Also, being that it is supposed to be Southern cooking, I would have expected some biscuits or corn bread to be brought out while waiting for food or as an accompaniment to the meal :)

I finally had the chance to visit the restaurant during my trip to L.A and the wait did not disappoint. The restaurant is in a perfect location in downtown L.A. This place had a great ambiance and vibe and good music playing through my time there. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. I tried the Mac-n-cheese and it was very good. The drinks were also good and strong. I didn't see Shaq while there, but the staff did mention that he does pop into the restaurant frequently and they always leave his table open just in case. His table also has his own DJ booth attached to it as well because he likes to come in and DJ! lol Shaquille's will be my new favorite place every time I visit L.A.

So this place has been involved with the $5 menu during the LA Live dark nights in the summer and they by far offer the best food portions. I’ve been here a couple of times and ordered the tacos and the ceviche which both were pretty good sized. The style of this place is good sized portions of comfort food.

It wasn't on our "must visit" list, actually, we got there without knowing what it is, while visiting nearby Staples Center and the Grammy Museum. It looked very nice and we loved the fact that was open without reservation. The service was spot on, but the food was OMG. Not over the top fancy, but sooo tasty. The size of those portions was out of this world. Especially the chocolate cake. It took three of us to share that ONE piece, and I'm quite sure the fourth person would have been useful too. It is for sure a must-stop spot, you will not regret it

Shaquille’s is located in downtown LA near the Staples Center and LA Live. The restaurant has all the usual sports bar atmosphere: lots of TVs and pub food, plus some additional platters. My wife and I both ordered the “brisket grilled cheese sandwich”. The portions were huge (I guess like Shaq). A couple can easily split 1 sandwich and not leave hungry. The brisket was very tasty with a tangy BBQ flavor. It came on sourdough bread with muenster cheese and grilled onions. The cost was very reasonable for the location and amount of food served. The staff was friendly and service was fast. I would recommend Shaquille’s before a sporting event at the Staples, or if just visiting the area.

Five of us ate here while in LA for a conference. Of course we had fried chicken and ribs. Both were excellent. In fact everything was good except the fried green tomatoes. Service was efficient and friendly. It was a nice dinner.

I really was excited about trying Shaquille's. The inside is beautiful and the wait staff was very attentive. However, it was the food that missed the mark for me. Everything I ate tasted okay but was lacking something.

We went to Shaquille's before the Comedy Show. The atmosphere was very nice, the service was great and our server was also great and very knowledgeable of the menu. The Fried Chicken, greens and green fried tomatoes was great and the steak fries. The only problem was the server said that the entrees would be enough to share family style, not the case. The greens was enough for two and the fries too. The birthday red velvet cake was dry. Over all I had a good time; I can't say the same for my guest. I feel the portion size for the sides should be larger for the price. Also, for the price of the Hamburger should come with fries and not separate.

The restaurant is conveniently located near the Staple Center and Convention Center. We went on a Sunday night and they had adequate wait staff, but that didn't mean that they were attentive. It took a long time to get our food from the kitchen. My companion & I ordered a burger and fries. The fries were chewy and the burgers were less tasty than what we can get at a burger joint. The music was overly loud.

Enjoyed our meal here. Wasnt too badly priced. The shaq attack chicken was great and so were the fries. Would be great before a game

Terrible service, wrong orders being sent back all over the restaurant. One of their managers delivered a Black Russian that was white, other customers receipts delivered with ours. Not worthy of the name. 2 people $100 plus tip. Much better places in LA live with trained servers and bartenders. Really disappointed.

First of all it's an a la cart menu. The food was good and the portions are big! The fried chicken was good along with the potato salad, creamed corn, fried green tomatoes and carrots. The LARGE piece of Hummingbird cake was the cherry on top! The prices are a bit pricey but the food was good! Shavon, our server, was very helpful in helping us decide our choices. Be ware it can get noisey if the restaurant gets crowded!

Came here before a Lakers game, great food and considering the area the prices are okay as well. Staff were friendly so all in all I’d come go back and recommend it to anyone.

Went with my wife while visiting LA. Loved it. Didn’t realize they had only open for two weeks. Business was humming as though it was truly an established restaurant.

We were excited to try the restaurant. We visited on a Thursday night. Upon entry I immediately noticed how loud the music was. The music is uplifting but too loud for dinner conversation. I sat on the patio to avoid the noise. Well that worked for a while until a street musician ruined our sound scape. So the ambiance is sketchy. We ordered the black pepper biscuits, deviled eggs, beet salad, ribs, fried chicken, and roasted chicken only to learn the meat dishes weren’t balanced. It was like ordering meat alacarte. We ended p ordering greens and macaroni and cheese too. We finished with Hummingbird cake. Here are the dishes that didn’t impress, the fried chicken has a weird batter, the roasted chicken was dry, the ribs were good and should be shared by 3 people or at least two. The greens and Mac and cheese were good but the hit was the black pepper biscuits. Don’t miss these! I’d order a dozen in a minute. The savory deviled eggs aand beet salad were good too. The service was good, but not always attentive.

I thought this would be a fun place to eat. But it was just ok. The menu is limited and the food was nothing to write home about. Service was friendly and the establishment was clean. I guess I was expecting more of a distinct Shaq vibe. Maybe more pictures and memorabilia, but there was nothing like that there.

Recommend reservations for any restaurants in LALive area. We didnt have one but were able to eat at the bar. Southern flair American cuisine. Burgers and sandwiches reasonably priced came with a good size, side salad or fries. Bar service was quick and efficient Good choice for a quick bite .

Brought my DH here for his 57th birthday who is a huge basketball fan so we were really excited to attend while in the LA area. Walked in and the lady who seated us hardly said a word to us. We were brought water by someone else and told that our waitress would be with us shortly (I then told the server that it was my husband's birthday). Our waitress (a young clueless person) finally came (never said happy birthday to my husband). She took our order and that was the time we saw or heard from her again! When we asked for our waitress, no one could find her because, apparently, she went on break but never let us know, just in case we needed anything. We had to track down people to get everything from more water to the check. This was really unacceptable and I do not plan on EVER returning to this place again. I have been to MANY restaurants and have no problem paying ($18+ for a burger...really) and tipping but with service like this, they really need to revisit the hiring/training process. My husband's birthday lunch was ruined...thanks!

Went here for a birthday lunch. Got here when it opened so was not crowded at all at some of the lunch crowd was arriving. Staff was very attentive and pleasant. This place is fairly big they have a nice outdoor seating area and there seem to be a different theme going on each section of the restaurant. They Aube a nice bar area that looks like it would be a nice place to watch the game. I ordered a gimlet which was pretty strong and tasty. They offer a variety of what I call “old lady cocktails” which I love.. we started off with 2 of my favs,Fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs all presented nicely. For the main course shrimp and grits. Grits were creamy even when they cooled down which is a plus if you’re fond of grits you know what I mean. most restaurants can’t get it right but they did. Shrimp were huge and succulent tasted like they came right out of the ocean and the andouille sausage I have to say was authentic. We were too full for dessert but I’ll definitely be back to try the rest of their menu.

Trying to get something good to great before the opening of NBA game 2019. Of course almost all restaurant were fully booked or list yourself on the Wait list. Shaquille was the one had the opening. So the family ordered Famous Fried Chicken, Kobe Burger, Caesar Salad and Macaroni & Cheese. Very swift service as they know the guess were there for the game. Kobe burger was great and the Fried Chicken were also tasty. Very recommended to seek a good meals before the game. Wish we’d have more time to try the dessert but great enough.

It was crazy busy with convention people getting their lunch in an hr. Food was good. Fries were great ! Bill was $17.52. Gave $20.52 so $3 should have been change. Hands me $2 and I say I am owed one more dollar. She says there is tax to pay and I say I did pay it. So hands me the 50 cents. I’ m no I am owed a dollar. Other guy handed me the dollar but she still did not understand .....

I couldn't give it a 5 star review but I also couldn't give it 3 stars, so 4 stars it is. We really did like our food. I thought that Kobe burger was really good. I loved the fries too. I'd describe the menu as the southern/soul food type. I really regret not having the fried green tomatoes. Might have to go back just for that. I don't like the chain vibe, it just has a vibe of a chain type restaurant but other than that, it was very nice.

We had dinner at Shaquille’s a couple of times (teenage boys big fans). Once was before the basketball game at Staples Center. It’s very close and they had us in and out in no time to make sure we got there. The second was a Saturday night and we didn’t have a booking so arrived a bit later and still got a table. The music was loud and great song selection. We love it loud and felt it added to the atmosphere. The portions were big, the food delicious and the drinks strong! We loved our experience here and we’ll be back.

We had a great meal at this busy restaurant. The fried chicken and the ribs made you feel like you were in the South and not in California. Make sure to make a reservation. The outside patio is the quietest place to eat. Inside the noise level is quite loud and it makes conversation difficult.

We stumbled upon Shaquille's while looking for somewhere to eat before a NHL game. So glad we found it! We were there pretty early for dinner (5pm) but they still served us. I had the Shaq burger which was DELICIOUS - the perfect size burger. It came with a mountain of fries. The staff were friendly and helped us out with a few things, as being from another country, we're not familiar with southern food. Definitely a great choice for a pre-game feed.

I expected this food to taste as good as it looked, but I was very disappointed. We ordered a lot of menu items to try. The "fried" chicken is air fried and it wasn't crunchy at all, just soggy but it was seasoned well. The mac and cheese was very bland, the greens were bland and a little cold, the shrimp and grits was totally gross...It tasted like someone poured sugar all over it. The brisket sandwich was also covered in a sweet bar b que sauce, which wasn't good and the bread was so hard you couldn't bite through it. The red velvet cupcake tasted like cornbread with food coloring and icing, and the key lime pie was gross. And no, we weren't mean about any of it after all we were just trying it out and still paid the full bill. Now on a good note, the music was Jammin! Our waitress, who I now call Claire bear, was rockstar awesome. And the drinks were on point. So would I go back to eat? NO....But would I go back to enjoy the music, drinks and awesome service? MOST DEFINITELY!

Had sliders and cocktails with my three sons following the Lakers All-access event. Food was good, service quick and drinks delicious. Will go again when at L A Live.

Wandering around and needed a place to eat but we were too late for some places and too early for others and came across this place. Server was an absolute darling so sweet and helpful. We all had burgers ( never been asked how I want my burgers cooked before) and we were not disappointed. Really gorgeous burgers, a really good quality patty. We had a side of fries and potato salad both of which were lovely. It was pricey but then we were in downtown so kind of expect that

First time at Shaquille’s, nice restaurant. Great location, across from the Staple Center. I ordered grits & shrimp and I requested the shrimp to be separate, from the grits because I don’t eat shrimp- but I was in the mood for grits. -My boyfriend was planning on eating the shrimp. I was highly disappointed in the portion size. I mean, that was a toddler portion size grits. Not to mention it was an expensive dish compared to what my man ordered. Expensive for such a small portion size... I will not return!

Great location. Friendly service. Food was great. Absolutely loved the atmosphere and music had us moving throughout our whole meal! Share the dessert - hummingbird cake was amazing and the portion size was massive!! Really happy we tried it out.

Food was okej! Service no! The music is too loud. We ask the waiter and the manager to low ot down but to zero response and instead increase the volume! We have to scream to each other just to communicate. Too pricey! Horrible!

Completely underwhelming experience in every possible way. Food was okay but service was so slow and not welcoming at all

This place has a limited menu- the french fries are delicious- and so are the Black Pepper Biscuits. A little pricey.

At kci airport - new!! - cold & tough chicken sandwich. Bland no-flavor sauce. About 3 pickles. No napkins. Person at counter was rude. Waited forever for 2 mde chicken sandwiches. Burger King would have been better. 2 sandwiches & 1 large drink = $30. Totally disappointed. Thought Shaq would want to know. Sad to experience.

If it wasn't for the fried chicken and being able to share along with a side of fries it would have even been more expensive. The chicken was good and fries were fries nothing special (hate being charged for sides). Service was okay. Went before the hockey game. Probably try someplace else next time. No sports memorabilia or reference to his Lakers career.

Fantastic food! Loved the brisket sliders! The fried chicken was delicious. The service was phenomenal. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, large and seating is not crowded. Southern food, amazing fried chicken, the best salad was excellent. Shrimp ceviche needed a little hot sauce but excellent. They have house hot sauce and very good barbecue sauces.

Second time I've come here, first went well enough, even though they brought things to our table we didn't order and just decided we should have it. This time, on Mother's Day, was not pleasant unfortunately. I ordered the $52 ribeye medium rare. The first one the brought me was so well done that as soon as i cut into it and saw it's grey center, the server who brought it noticed immediately and offered to take it back which I agreed with. After another 20 minutes of waiting, the rest of my party had finished their meals, they brought me my second steak, this one was extremely rare. Once again all I had to do was show the server and he had a defeated look on his face as he knew it was not cooked to medium rare. He asked what I'd like to do but at this point there was no reason for me to make my party sit around waiting for a third attempt. I choose to just get the check. The manager then came over, he asked how things were and we mentioned how they managed to mess up two $52 ribeyes and he did not apologize or offer to comp anything. He asked if I would like anything else to which I replied at this point it would be wasting my parties time and he just took the leftovers to be boxed up. His "oh well" attitude is what makes this review one star. It could've been two stars because the servers saw the problem and tried to fix it. We even tipped because the waiters did their best. But his attitude ensured that he did not care to resolve the issue if I wasn't prepared to make a scene, which I just don't do.

I took my wife here for a surprise Valentine's dinner date. Not only is this place a great place for a date, but the food was wonderfully served in large portions and extraordinarily delicious. Great chef preparations and food is served in large portions. Great service at the front desk and by the staff. Highly recommended. Definitely a romantic place with a-listers, models, and entrepreneurs.

We went to the restaurant on a very busy night. We had a moderate wait but got seated quicker than expected for a party of six Stephanie was our waitress and was fabulous. She was patient with our group & very attentive given how busy the restaurant was. The deviled eggs were great & so was the buffalo dip- though it could have used a little more spice. The food was surprisingly good. We ordered the whole fried chicken & it was a lot more food than the menu suggested (2-3 people). Our table also ordered Shrimp & grits & the Kobe burger and both were great! Banana pudding & hummingbird cake looked divine for dessert but we were too full to try...next time

Enjoyed great tasting burgers and cocktails with attentive friendly service. Ambience was good. Plenty of seating. Food cooked beautifully we had the shaq burger and the kobe burger with side of fries.. would definitely go again and happy to recommend
Pricey and just okay
We visited on Father's Day and are Shaq fans. We made reservations through Open Table and were seated quickly. The best part of our visit was the service. Everyone from the hostesses to the servers to the bartenders were excellent! They offered useful recommendations and were friendly. Kudos to them! Unfortunately, our meals were nothing special. We had the fried chicken, which had lovely presentation but was not flavorful. The mac and cheese was okay so was the steak. Kids had burgers but they too were just mediocre. By far, the tastiest item was the banana pudding. We really wanted to enjoy the food but didn't. Plus, we felt the meal was overpriced. $50 for the chicken alone is a bit much.
