3 & 1/2 *** rounded up 4 **** Like most rooftop restaurants, the food is not that great. The views and the ambiance are what one comes here for. The food was OK, it looked better than a tasted. On a side note the service was great! Our waitress and the rest of the staff were brilliant! We came in a big group, reserved a table and sat outside. The weather was cooperating, not too cold or hot. The Views of the city were lovely. #Grub: ~ PULPO AL OLIVO - 4/5 Octopus was very good, especially with the moose / sauce that accompanied it. ~ CHEESE & CHARCUTERIE - 4/5 Charcuterie board was very good. A healthy variety of meats and cheeses. ~ KOJI FRIED CHICKEN - 3/5 The wings were okay, I feel like the competition for that is very high in the area or especially the Bay area in general. Nothing stood out about them. ~ PAELLA VALENCIANA - 3/5 we The paella was just OK, I thought it was rather bland and felt it needed flavor. It did have a decent amount of seafood in it. adulting: ~ OLD FASHIONED - 4/5 A good solid and strong Old Fashioned. I'd definitely return, probably not for dinner...

Venue is very cool! Blankets are provided for chilly nights on the patio. With that being said, the staff thinks they are going to get by alone on the amazing views they have... Service was beyond poor. Took a long time for anyone to touch the table after were seated. Drinks and water were consistently left empty. Waiter actually ignored us as I tried to flag him down to order our main course. Once food was ordered (after flagging down the server again), it took an exorbitant amount of time to reach us. The food overall was very good! We had the whole roast chicken and English cut short rib. Too much for two people, and we took home leftovers - took about 40 minutes from time we finished eating until we were offered a to-go box or even had the server notice we were waiting to be serviced. Bathrooms are all-gender and leave much room for improvement on the cleanliness front. Overall - food good, service horrible. Not worth the time and cost.

Discovered this is the rooftop restaurant of the Canopy by Hilton where I was staying Had several breakfasts and a couple of dinners. The food is beautifully presented and the atmosphere and views are incredible I think my pictures speak for themselves

At the top, the rooftop. A superb place, an effective menu, on the plate it's very good. A good place to visit. I recommend

12th floor of a Hilton property across from the carosel on 4th street. Generally good vibes, and attentive but laid-back service. Views mostly of rooftops, freeway, ball park, but still enjoyable sky and fresh air (of course, in SF, that means it is cool to cold outside, but they provide blankets and heaters on request). Plenty of warmer spaces inside. Cocktails were good although not inexpensive. Cheese and Charcuterie plate was fairly generous portionally, and the same was true for the flatbread (both shared by two couples). We also thought the same of the creme brulee and chocolate mousse.

Loved the ambience and more importantly the service! The drinks were delicious. Gulba was superbly attentive, she noticed I was not happy with my first cocktail and inquired if she could bring me something else. Put this charming rooftop on your list. We actually preferred this rooftop over The View.

One of the coolest rooftop bars in San Fran. Views are spectacular, one see Oracle Park, Bay Bridge, and the entire skyline of the SF. On a clear sky day one see beautiful sunset. Good choices on cocktails, wines and especially champagnes. They have great small bites and nice entrée choices!. Very nice atmosphere for a cozy(chilly) date or hangout with friends!

The appetizer was good but the main course was terrible, how could someone make chicken tests that bad and the bone marrow was tasteless awful

Terrible experience and awful prices. They rely on the $30 destination charge at the hotel to bait people into spending outrageous amounts of money for poor service and unimpressive food. Avoid.

Shelby’s rooftop is on the 12th floor of the Canopy Hotel by Hilton. The views are worth the visit and the restaurant’s layout affords every table with a view of the City. Since we were staying at the hotel ( another review) we had dinner and a Sunday brunch there. While the dinner was very average the brunch was far superior as was the service. The brunch choices were very good & The restaurant was not as crowded. Dinner there was obviously for special occasion as many people were dressed up. The dinner menu was not memorable at all and would guess most people were there for the ambience & not the cuisine.
Don’t go here for the food or service
Review for Shelby’s Rooftop Bar and Restaurant - 3 Stars Shelby’s Rooftop Bar and Restaurant offers an impressive view of the San Francisco skyline, making it a great spot to grab a drink and enjoy the scenery. However, my experience here was somewhat mixed, largely due to the food and service. First off, the food options leave a lot to be desired. The menu is quite limited and lacks creativity, which is disappointing given the prime location. The dishes we tried were underwhelming, and it’s clear that Shelby’s could benefit from expanding and improving their menu. As for the service, it wasn’t necessarily bad, but it was clear that the staff was stretched thin. There simply weren’t enough servers to handle the number of guests, which led to slow service and a lack of attention to detail. While the staff was friendly, it was hard not to notice the long waits and the sense that they were just trying to keep up. Overall, Shelby’s has potential, especially with its fantastic rooftop view. But to become a go-to spot, they need to step up their game in both the kitchen and the service department.
