Small corner bagel store down the block from the F/G train stop at 4th Ave-9th St; the bagels are smaller than most bagel stores and a little pricey for the smoked fish sandwiches but the service was fast and the quality lived up to the billing Ordered the Clementine (gravlax, capers, tomato, red onion, capers, squeeze of lemon on a buttered plain bagel)

Definitely the best bagels I ever tasted, with a great crust, a creative, alive, enjoyable centre, and perfect seasoning in all versions I tested and tasted. The selection of smoked fish is further fabulous.

Growing up in the Bronx in the 50s and 60s I know a real bagel. NYC is awash with oversized doughy chewy bagels in all sorts of forms that should be illegal (rainbow???). Shelskys nails the right texture and taste. Their bagels and bialeys are sensational. Their breakfast and lunch sandwiches are terrific. Great smoked fish. Great corned beef. Great egg sandwiches. Fun service and atmosphere. On the weekends get their early so you have the full selection. Things do sell out. What a terrific addition to the nabe

Cute little bagel shop!! One of the best bagels I’ve ever had, they have a wide variety of bagels and cream cheese, and their prices are pretty reasonable! It’s right by a subway stop too, so it’s easy to get to!
Not the way to do business
Been a customer of their Court Street place for many years. Came here and asked for a pound of Gaspe Nova. The guy behind the counter yells at me that Nova is only sold at their Court St. place and this is only a bagel shop. I didn't need the attitude so I ordered 4 bagels. Gave my credit card at the register and they turn the computer monitor around showing me the amount with tip suggestions. They put 4 bagels in a bag & they want a tip. I pressed no tip and left. Went to close-by Fairway. Got the Gaspe and bought their bagels @ .25 cheaper each, made fresh daily, and just as good, went to the register, no attitudes and no one asked me for a tip.
