Delicious food and good alcohol selection. Make reservations on the weekend! Friendly service and right by the aquarium! Try it.

I’m traveling on an extended business trip and had a taste for Indian food. The daal, saag paneer, garlic naan and mango lassi were all good. The spice level was great. So why the mediocre rating? I ordered lamb kabob expecting lamb cubes, and got sausage hot-dog-ish pieces, that were dry and processed. This was a delivery order.

This is my second time. I had the Butter Masala with lamb and it’s AMAZING!!! My husband had the chicken curry for the second time and wasn’t as creamy as the time before, but still delicious. We invited a friend for the first time and he had a coconut dish with lamb and was blown away. Said it was the best Indian he’s ever had.

Yami was the BEST! This is like the first Indian restaurant we’ve been to that REALLY makes their food spicy! Customer service was very attentive — a wonderful way to spend our evening before going out to a show!

I was volunteering at a DISD middle school Thanksgiving party and was able to grab some of Shiva's before it was gone. The pictures make it look good but it was better than that. Fresh, flavorful, and the right amount of spice in the Tika Masala. If you are close to downtown Dallas, get some!

Amazing food and service we had clay pot briyani and alo matter and garlic nan every thing Amazing every start worth it shivas beat in us .

This might of been one of the best meals of my life! First time eating Indian food, our server was Pryma she was so great at her knowledge and recommendations. We are off the vegetarian mean and the flavor explosion was out of this world. I will definitely be back….tomorrow! Bartender was so sweet her service with a smile, the manger, the jazz music, THE FOOD!!! Don’t hesitate GO!

It was our first visit to Shiva's. The service was excellent from when we entered the restaurant until we left. The food was delicious, with the portions being so big that we had to ask for take-out bags. I had the vegetable breyani, and we also shared an entrée platter... Definitely a place to visit again.

We ordered Royal dinner for 2 (meat classic) plenty of food amazing taste this place is so good for Indian food lovers go there don't wait yummy 😋

This place is terrible, the service is slow the prices are high and the food is horrible, coming from Manchester in the Uk home of some of the best Indian restaurants I can tell you with confidence this restaurant is a 2 out of 10 all around give it a pass save yourself.

This place was open Christmas Day! Good authentic Indian food, have eaten in NYC and this place is comparable. Will be returning

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this review. Shivas Bar & Grill has been for the past year my favorite authentic Indian restaurant in the Dallas metro. Everytime my family orders food from here, we are met with well spiced, deliciously flavored, consistently yummy food. Initially, I would give this restaurant a 5 star. That being said, this week we placed a delivery order for malai kofta and mattar paneer. The order was received in a timely manner, to our spice preference and tasty as always. I was eating the mattar paneer and bit down on something hard. After immediately spitting out the food, I saw that what I bit on was a RAZOR BLADE. I was beyond disgusted and disturbed by the potential health ramifications of eating a blade that I almost was tempted to post immediately about this on social media. But being such a big fan of the restaurant, I wanted to give them a chance to explain themselves before proceeding. I called the restaurant the following day after the incident at 5PM (since that is when they open) asking to speak with a manager about a concern. A gentleman answered stating that he was indeed a manager. When I told the gentleman what happened he asked for my number and name, and said he would call me back in 5 minutes about this issue. I waited that evening to receive a call but didn't - he never called back. Today, I drove to Shivas, brought proof of my dish with the razor in it. I asked to speak with the manager or the owner. The bartender said that he was the manager. I showed him my food, at which point he said that he would take this to his "boss". He walked to the back, spoke with a gentleman sitting at a table in the back for about 5 minutes, came back and apologized (more out of obligation not sincerely) for the blade and offered to refund my money. Being concerned about how something like this could even happen, I asked again how this happened - simply trying to figure this out. He just said that stuff like this happens, although he had never heard of a razor being found in food - he had heard of rubber bands occasionally from the produce. He refunded me $16 cash (the cost of the dish is $16.50 not including tax or the cost of delivery). He offered no insight as to how this even happened or how he would investigate to see what happened that night. The "boss" whom he spoke to never came over to apologize. In fact he walked by and didn't say a word. It is very evident that customer service is not a priority to this establishment even when you are served and end up eating a razor blade in your food. Needless to say, I will refuse to ever order from here again and am very concerned about the health codes/standards of their kitchen after this happened.

My husband and I went in as they were opening for a nice leisure lunch. We travel extensively and seek out different types of foods. Was looking forward to Indian food. The owner has difficulties communicating. We ordered the Samosas as an appetizer and were reviewing the menu for our entree. I was very leery as we were the only people there. It does not appear clean either. The samosa came out, it tasted old, tough and chewy. It was just plain nasty! I took one bite and decided to leave. I do not recommend you go there. I/we were so disappointed.

Amazing food there royal dinner for 2 is so yummy highly recommended place we had large group party everyone love there food and service and we already reserved December party of 25 people

The menu at Shivas Bar and Grill is extensive, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The Indian dishes are authentic and flavorful. The restaurant also offers a great selection of drinks, including a variety of beers and cocktails. The service at Shivas Bar and Grill is outstanding. The staff is friendly, attentive, and in overall I loved the place and I love the dishes over there. Highly recommend 👏.

Really enjoyed this Indian, seating was fairly fast, no wait time on servers. We had Surethi who was prompt and friendly, upon ordering she asked us our spice level (choose wisely) food came out to the table fast and over all our first time experience was delightful. Only two things I didn't favor was 1.) They let random people from off the street use their restrooms and 2.) I felt as if the other male server gentlemen was waiting on my tables party to leave as if they needed our table. Mind you the place was mostly empty when we arrived and we were there less than a hour. They have live music which which was setting up as we were finishing up. If you like Indian food check them out. Woukd I recommend: Yes

We were in Dallas to attend sons friend graduation ceremony at UTD college. Attended the ceremony, enjoyed a lot, very inspiring! Huge number of Indian families. Decided to have good Indian Food and found out Shiva. Ordered food, received a little bit late as we were very late. Waiting for food & we spoke in Marathi, why food is not getting served, we were not aware as owner listened and replied in MARATHI that Jevan lagech yetis. And it was served immediately, good was good, had a nice chat with owner

Food was really good. Everything tasted warm and fresh. Service was very quick The restaurant was very clean. Very good experience.

Definitely a great date spot! Their garlic naan is amazing and the chicken tikka masala doesn’t disappoint!

super high quality, authentic Indian food with great service and a great vibe; the owners are super cool so if you get a chance to talk with them, do it!

New restaurant open only a short while when we dined there. Staff was attentive; food plentiful & delicious. The group ordered 5 entrees & 2 appetizers + naan; it was all excellent & the requested heat factor honored (scale of 1-10). The decor was tasteful/elegant; atmosphere was cool & quiet. Only negative comment was the bar tender seemed to need a bit more instruction.

We have ordered takeout a few times from Shiva's now and the food has been fantastic every time! Their tikka masala is the best I've ever had. We stopped in for a drink this week and chatted with the owner and he told us all about how all of the food is made from scratch, down to all of the sauces. You can tell by the taste of their food that everything is quality!! We love ordering from Shiva's :)

We honestly have been to many Indian restaurants and felt this was one of the better ones we have visited ...Service was excellent, atmosphere was warm and comforting.. Food was prepared the way we had ask and was delicious... We had enough to bring home a serving for another meal...Very clean and classy decor..

Love this place. The food is great, the service is warm, friendly and caring and it's a fun location. I like to sit outside when the weather is nice. People watching on Greenville Avenue is great. Inside is nice as well. It's owned by an Indian family so it's authentic! I read previous reviews. We've been here twice and both times had good service, so I suspect that they have fixed that issue. We ordered Sag Paneer, Dahl and Roti both times. They were all excellent.

We called and they told us they had a buffet. They didn't. Ok we'll try it anyway, we just paid $15 for parking. I ordered a lamb dish please not spicy. It was very spicy. I tried to trade it for lamb curry not spicy, the waitress wasn't going to let me at first but I had tasted my husband's curry and it was much better than what I had. She grudgingly allowed let me exchange it for not spicy lamb curry. She brought me beef curry. Went to the restroom. It's in a dark alcove a there's a large dark box plugged into something in the darkest part of the alcove. Definite trip hazard if you're not looking at the floor as you walk. I know I tripped. Much much too expensive for what you get. 🙄 I give up. I won't be back. Now I know why there were only 2 other people in there at lunchtime.

We came into the city from out of town to visit the aquarium with our little 6 month old and came across this gem. Inside was beautiful and very clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful in answering every question we had. We started with the chicken samosas that were fried to perfection and an Indian imported beer, the Taj Mahal. We then had the lamb biryani and were also fortunate enough to try the chicken tikka marsala. You could tell everything was made with a lot of love. I couldn’t put my utensils down. We come from rural Texas have no local Indian cuisine, so this was a piece of nirvana. This planned pit stop for a quick snack turned into an incredible dining experience. I will be dreaming about this food and hope to enjoy it again when time allows.

The food was excellent! And customer service was top tier. Sam gave us a flyer and we decided to try and we did not regret it, best Indian food to date!

While visiting family in Dallas we ordered take out from Shiva's. The food we ordered was good. We got Chicken and Lamb Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Butter Masala, and Garlic Naan. I am half Indian and have been making and eating Indian all my life. This food was good. The Biryani had lots of meat in it, as did the Masala. I would get food from this restaurant again when in the area.

Very good food awesome service especially the chef specials we will definitely coming back highly recommended place the best Indian food in Dallas

Our family decided to dine at Shiva's for my birthday and I am so glad we did! The Keema Naan is a must for an appetizer with their cucumber yogurt dip. We had all different Biryani entrees (though I preferred the lamb) for dinner and we were able to share and take some home! The owner came out and was so very gracious! He brought out some of their tikki marsala sauce to try on the Biryani and we ended up ordering an extra order to take home with us. This is a family owned restaurant and we are very proud to support small business. We didn't know, but the staff surprised me and brought out the Pistachio kulfi for dessert to share which I now crave nightly. We went on a Monday, which it was very slow but it made our night very special for being an unplanned dining spot. If you want authentic Indian cuisine, this is the place to go!

Wonderful atmosphere that made us feel like family. We had the chicken samosas and they were out of this world. Perfectly crispy and full of wonderfully flavorful chicken. We then did the main entrees of Chicken Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Chicken Vindaloo all at a level 7 spice. We added an order each of butter, garlic and plain naan bread for good measure. This is our new go to spot. Highly recommend as you will not be disappointed! Love love love, can’t wait to come back for more!

I should know by now to walk out of any restaurant where I'm the only customer. Yes, it was 12:50 on a Tuesday during spring break, but we were the only people in the restaurant. You'd think this would mean attentive service from the four employees. No. The adjacent table had half-eaten dishes on it - I guess that means there had been other customers - but it stayed half-eaten over the course of the hour and fifteen minutes it took to be served. 1. We ordered Masala Chai. I guess for $2.50 I'd expect a pot. No. Small cup that was never refilled - although we asked three times. 2. We ordered vegetable samosas - my wife is a vegetarian. We got beef samosas. Errors happen - but they should be fixed quickly. I had to go back to the kitchen to find our waitress to let her know she misserved us. In only ten minutes, we had our replacement - a little too deep fried and oily. 3. We ordered onion kulcha. Instead we got naan bread - and a little cold at that. Error 2. I asked if this was supposed to be the onion kulcha. The waitress said yes - I guess they specialize in onionless onion kulcha. 4. I asked the waitress which was the better specialty - the lamb rogan josh or the lamb biryani. She told me the ingredients. I asked which would she recommend. She told me the ingredients again. I gave up seeking additional data. 5. I ordered the lamb rogan josh and Eileen ordered the malai kofta. They were ok, I guess. Very one note, without the complexity of the spices I'm used to. 6. Fifteen minutes after finishing, I went back to the kitchen to find our server. She wasn't around. Instead, I saw someone else - the owner? the manager? - and asked if we could pay. He profusely apologized for any delay and promptly gave us our check. Result: $50 for a slow meal that was only half what we ordered. Food is more oily than typical Indian, and very plain. Suggestions: Tighten up the wait staff, offer a lunch menu and try to improve the food a bit. We won't be back.

Went their with an Iranian colleague, who wanted to try some spicy food. Sadly inspite of requesting for spicy Biryani we got a non-spicy one. I ordered Paneer Tikka which turned out to be somewhat Butter Paneer. As an Indian I wouldn't approve of the quality of Indian food they serve there. Also service was not great (too much waiting time, took half an hour to get one glass of water), and we got drinks which were not even remotely close to what we ordered.

We travel all over the world, and Indian is one of our favorite cuisines. So, we have eaten at well over 100 different Indian restaurants worldwide. We have also tried so many Indian restaurants in the DFW area. This one is by far our favorite in Texas! We picked up our to-go order and it was ready exactly when they said it would be. There was a live band, Saturday night. We drove the order 20+ minutes away, and when we sat down to eat it it was still fantastic! We can't wait for the leftovers. We ordered so much we will be eating this for at least the next week. Dishes we tried: Coconut Masala (w/chicken) Dahl Makhani Matar Panner Reshmi Kebab (chicken w/ added lamb) They were all VERY flavorful and fresh! I highly recommend the Reshmi Kebab!!

Indian cuisine is one of our favorites and we whole heartedly support family run businesses so we were excited to try this restaurant on Lower Greenville based on the good reviews. Despite high expectations our experience was disappointing. The positives were Kingfisher on tap and helpful service. The negatives revolved around the food. We were offered a free papadam with the usual trio of sauces but the papadam was greasy and the sauces were too thin. For entrees I got the chicken tikka masala which is one of my favorites. It was good but not great, rather sweet. It was edible. The wife ordered the lamb korma. Some pieces of the lamb were tough and others were soft. She did not like the sauce at all because it was overly sweet as if white sugar had been added. Barely edible. We also ordered the saag paneer and it was by far the worst we ever had in our lives. It had no flavor and was just plain bad. Inedible. We were polite and took it home but immediately threw it away. The plain naan bread was good but not great. Prices are a bit higher than one finds at other Indian restaurants in the Dallas area. Overall, we felt it was a waste of money, and it pains me to say that. There's clearly a problem in the kitchen that needs to be fixed. Maybe they need to get an Indian chef to prepare the food, someone who knows how Indian food is supposed to taste.

I agree that the food was good, but I thought that the service was fine. It was nice weather so we ate outside and the waiter brought us water etc immediately. menus were on the table and waiter took orders within 5 min, food came within 10 min. Business was very light, so the previous reviewer was there during a more busy time. The food was very good. I had an eggplant curry in a thick creamy coconut milk sauce and it was very very good. They have an extensive menu which would take a very time to sample through. Prices were reasonable for the neighborhood.

We were getting ready to leave the Dallas Aquarium and looked for any nearby restaurants, especially if they offered quality cuisine within walking distance. We had no idea we would be in for such a delightful experience. As we happened to arrive just before the end time for the lunch menu, we each ordered a meal assuming the portions would require two meals. We were pleasantly surprised with more than enough food of excellent quality at a modest cost. As we were both in the mood for lamb, we chose two entrees (Combo Tikka Masala & Combo Vindaloo) and selected the lamb option. Each was $1 more than the vegetable or chicken option ($13 vs. $12). We both opted for the the garlic naan (naan and a bowl of rice were included). Staff were very attentive, helpful, and friendly. Needless to say, we would welcome an opportunity to eat here again the next time we’re in Dallas.

Location is trendy area, parking a challenge, but expected. Inside was nice and modern. On a referral, we were truly looking forward to a closer Indian Rest. The owner took our order, after 12mins of waiting, then we got our appetizers, and one of them was cold - hot on fried outside - refrigerator cold on inside. No simple "im sorry"...another waiter delivered food, our Chicken Tikka Masala had bones. The service made this experience a one time only visit. There were 3 on staff, and owner. It was a Thursday at 6pm....approx 6 tables at most!! WTH???

The food was excellent I ordered Tikka Masala shrimps and my friend ordered chicken Both of us loved the food. Better than most resultants The service was great and the owner Paresh was very friendly . His brothers Prinu also helped us . The place look amazing We recommend .

I'm a religious TripAdvisory snob. However, I let me better judgement get the best of me and I randomly googled an Indian restaurant in Dallas. Only three came up. I picked the top on listed on line and headed out. Not only was the food disappointing but the neighborhood that this was located was a little sketchy. I was traveling by myself and I almost asked the Uber driver to turn around. I sincerely believe that some of the best foods can be found in small and tiny establishments but I would strongly suggest you seeking out another genre of food. I ordered the lamb biryani and the lamb tasted like beef and was dry and grisly. The only spice that I could taste in the rice was the cardamon pods (which I bit into several times). Overall, it had a very bland taste. With one glass of wine, I have to say, this was one of the most expensive meals I've had on this trip (and one of the worst). The service was great and I could tell that several people in the restaurant were locals.

... this one greeted us with an odor such that, The Wife told The Husband later, She wanted to turn around and leave as soon as she set foot in the door. We are, however, visiting Dallas to see The Daughter and she, knowing our love for Indian cuisine, had scoped this place out and wanted to bring us here. The Wife does not quibble with The Daughter about such things so we subjected ourselves to The Shiva Shortcut ... And Shortcut us they did on every aspect of the eating (to call it "dining" would insult Mom'nPop roadside diners throughout the USA) experience save one: there was no shortcut at all on their prices or on their eagerness to charge us for every aspect of the meal. The Papadums (papadi??) were flavorless and crumbly but that was really no big deal, because the typical red onion/green mint/brown tamarind sauces served with them were dull, flat, and tasteless ... so we really didn't miss all that much. The menu listed several dishes that LOOKED interesting and, for the sake of other diners there tonight and in the future, one can only hope that the dishes ordered by others will prove far better than those brought to us. "One dimensional", "flat", "heat with no depth" are all words and phrases spoken and heard often around our table. The crowning delight? The Wife loves to savor a cup of Chai after dinner. Imagine barely warm tea without benefit of any spice or flavor more interesting than skim milk and you'll be right there at the table with us. The source of the odor I mentioned at the outset?? Let me just suggest that one visit the restroom someplace OTHER than here at Shiva's ... their shortcuts reach well beyond the dining area.

I had a take out order. Food was amazing, ingredients and tasty dishes. I had garlic naan, chicken Saag and Mango Lasi. 100% would recommend visiting!

WOW! I’ve eaten Indian in numerous states and even in a couple different countries….this by far was my favorite! Tried the Butter Lamb Marsala for the first time and LOVED it. Mango Tamarind Margarita was super yummy and of course Naan, Naan and more Naan. They had live music and that just set the tone for a really nice Friday evening!! Service was really great and welcoming! I’ll be headed back there soon for sure!

Excellent service, very good food, congratulations, I recommend it... Come in and enjoy the best food in the area
An authentic Indian restaurant
An authentic Indian restaurant. I ordered the Royal Dinner For Two, $75 consisting of portions of Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Saag & Shrimp Vindaloo. Vindaloo and Korma were at a great height. I give them a 9.5 on a scale from 1 to 10. The others get 7.5. I don't have the same good opinion about the appetizer (onion rings fried in a batter). Although the taste was good, they were practically drowned in oil. They also gave me heartburn afterwards. I didn't know that dessert is included in the price. The owner insisted that we take his package. But I left it in the hotel fridge. A kind of rice with milk and two doughnuts, the same, drowned in oil. With all my critical comments, it remains a place to visit for some of its dishes. The atmosphere is pleasant, warm.
