Really wanted to love it

By landminseattle |

As a one-time Miamian, I'm always excited to see old neighborhoods revitalize. Even happier when known favorite restauranteurs open in unknown places. So I was pretty pumped to visit Shokudo. Alas, it was just okay. The patio was great, really enjoyed being able to dine outside, one of the major attractions of Miami in November. Service was friendly, but spotty; at times overly attentive, at other times, slow and absent. We ordered a lot of stuff; sushi was fresh but bland. Dumplings, the same. Pork buns were more flavorful than anything. Bibimbop was surprisingly bland- missing the sesame oil, and low on the chili factor - and the rice never crisped on the bottom Maybe it was an off night, really hope so. We'll give it another try.

Excellent & Fresh

By LuxuryXLeisure |

This is a true gem that I actually dine in and/or get delivery at least a few times a month! The food is very fresh and the staff is very pleasant. The atmosphere is super clean and cool - great place to enjoy some bites and cocktails with a group of friends or on a date. If the weather is decent I recommend sitting outside. Decent selection of sake and I ALWAYS go for the Mango Roll...yummy! The bento box is a great lunch option as well and the prices can't be beat for the quality of food and service you get.

Excellent

Great food, exciting menu, great atmosphere and service. Reasonable price for both the quality and service. The waiters are knowledgeable and they guide you well. Clean! Very much recommended

hidden gem

Years of construction on N. E. 2nd avenue has made Shokudo very hard to see and access. The restaurant has a great inside and outside patio ambiance. The food and service were great!!

A 4.5 star experience

By FoodTravelover85 |

A great find in Miami. The sushi was delicious. Had the Shabu shabu dinner which came with saki, fried sushi appetizer and dessert. The shabu shabu was a unique experience...delicious thin meat cooked in a broth. The side of kimchi was delicious. Loved it. A lot of fun The fruit crumble for dessert was served right out of the oven and also very good. We will definitely come back for sushi next time we are in Miami Thanks.

Recommended it!

By WilliamMilian |

The restaurant was warm and welcoming. The food and service were good. Salmon Carpaccio and Bibimpap being the highlights of the night. I will definitely recommend it.

I know people who drive over 30 miles to visit

By EaterJ |

Not sure why some negative reviews, but hey, there or "negative" people. My experience with this establishment always great. Fast and friendly long term employees. (A Good sign). From Sushi to Thai, the best of both worlds. Sushi appetizers that compete with higher-end venues at half the price. Mouth watering Curry and Patay. Authentic origin cooks at sushi bar and in kitchen. Clean. Better drink specials from Mojitos to Exotic Martinis. Best people watching in all of Miami Beach. Indoor and Outdoor. Pet friendly. Many locals call it their favorite.

Great food at reasonable prices

By Clive |

Wow, I have to say this place was a pleasure to visit. There were many options on the menu, the food arrived very fast and the service was brilliant. Everyone was helpful and friendly, especially Felipe. Thank you so much.

great happy hour

By marciag21 |

the sushi was great and the happy hour specials were good and inexpensive. i so so disappointed to see that the location has closed. we always eat here several times on our miami vacations. it is one of my favourite places along lincoln road. glad i went twice on this trip

Good food and atmosphere

By ana_era |

I stopped here for a quick lunch on the way to the airport, and I'm sorry I didn't have more time to really take it easy and enjoy the food. The menu offers an interesting and eclectic mix of Asian favorites, all fresh and very well prepared. Some great white wines are downpriced here, which is a welcome bonus. Service was very friendly, quick and efficient.

Romantic was the best part outside

By Rustinkoo |

Best part of the place: Ambience, outdoor patio, fast friendly service. The rest: Being from NYC we have high expectations of asian cuisine and this establishment does an average job. They have japanese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino items and do all of them Ok but none great. Portions aren't the biggest but that would be ok if the food was exceptional. It's not bad but it's not deserving of 5 stars.

Great food service is a sophisticated casual setting

Great Sushi and Rolls! Phenomenal food overall and service. Relaxing sophisticated but casual atmosphere. Friendly, attentive staff. Great experience for the pallet and mind!

Great Sushi, Great Place

By wcasteline |

The atmosphere great and the place is beautiful, located close to Midtown and the Wynwood district. Dumplings are all tasty, Gyonza being my favorite. The Poke and avocado salad is very fresh and delicious. There are a great variety of rolls and sushi available. and we even order one out of the menu and was made for us, which was great. The Buena Vista roll with eel was fascinating as it was the Mango. Try the Kani su a riceless roll which is a light and very interesting full of flavor

Great gem, great food!

By Gonny E |

My daughter and I had to be at FIU during the afternoon so we decided to make a weekend out of it. We were both in the mood for sushi so came across Shokudo in our search. It was close to out hotel. We are so happy we ate there; food was amazing, service was great and the atmosphere was perfect. It is a not a large place which made it even more attractive. Our waitress, Lili, was awesome! We will def. return. Order the crunchy roll as an appetizer, a must have!

Great food, lots to try

By Brianfoster2003 |

My wife and I stumbled on this place, they had only been open 2 weeks. Great "small plate" menu with lots to try. Spicy kimchee is used a lot and it was delish. Great sushi rolls. Only thing we really disliked was the skewers with steak wrapped around scallions. Way too many scallions, nothing but onion mouth. Just go and try everything but trust me and don't order that steak/scallion thing. We will be back.

Our best dining experience in Miami

By fletcherandcole |

We can quite honestly say that this restaurant was the best that we experienced whilst on our week long holiday in Miami, We enjoyed it so much the first time we returned a few days later to sample more of their exciting menu. We enjoy Thai style cuisine and this was amongst the best we have ever had. The Thai curries are amazing. On both occasions the restaurant was very busy which created a great atmosphere but at the same time the staff were very attentive and food delivery was prompt. We will definitely return if/when we re-visit Miami.

Delicious food

The sushi here is super well done and the menu has many options. The spicy tuna is a must try and the combined options are very good.

have had many a date and family gatherings here...decent for the price; great midpoint on Lincoln Rd strip to meet up; sushi boats rock the party.

Very attractive

By Berkeleian |

We wandered into Shokudo because it was near the guest house we rented and were very pleasantly surprised. It has a very attractive ambience both inside but especially in the outdoor courtyard. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the food a great deal. It was a very restful place to eat after a day of traveling.

Sketchy neighborhood, good atmosphere and food

By BenNewman |

Don't judge a book by it's cover; once inside, the restaurant is eclectic and cool. The menu is interesting and diverse. Above average sushi, overall a good experience.

Good sushi. The Tahi food is not good at all.

Nice atmosphere, descent food

By WFSCDGA |

Even though I am not an Asian food lover we had a overall nice experience. This place is very charming with both indoor and outdoor (covered) seating. I had the duck which was cooked perfect and delicious. My wife had the pad Thai with shrimp which she enjoyed but there were very few shrimp and a ton of noodles. My daughter had the ramen which she really liked. My son had soup and dumplings which were good but VERY small portions. Our server was very attentive.

Deliciously prepared. fresh ingredients, will be back!

By kmafla |

Lovely spot- garden dining (which will be great when it's a bit cooler) and a beautifully decorated inside seating area as well. Service was warm and friendly, food was delicious. Sampled two types of dumplings- one had potato the other shrimp- both equally good. shared a seafood hot pot (and they were able to customize it for us by taking out the sausage and other meat items) and a vegetarian cellophane noodle dish with yummy portobello mushrooms. No room for desert but the menu looked amazing. Only suggestion- wish they would add some fish dishes to the menu- and a few green (and other) vegetable dishes served without rice (bok Choi, greens, etc.) And fairy reasonably priced.

Fabulous new restaurant in the Design District!

By David D |

What a wonderful experience this was. From the moment you walk in, you know that you're in a very special restaurant that stands apart from all the others in the area with an amazing ambience. The decor is very stylish and comfortable yet not pretentious. Our server Carol was wonderful and very accommodating, her recommendations were all delicious. I had the Ahi Tuna Poke, Turkey dumplings, shrimp pad thai and thai red curry chicken and was thrilled with all the dishes. This is one of those restaurants where everything sounds so good that you don't know what to order. Fortunately our server helped us narrow down the options and we ended up completely satisfied with a desire to return and try many of the other items we could not fit in. I would highly recommend Shokudo to locals and visitors staying in South Beach. The food quality is superb and very reasonable. It is well worth the drive. Bravo Shokudo!!!

Tasty fun meal

By PandaTraveler100 |

We had a very nice dinner at Shokudo. Everything was tasty - spicy tuna tartar, spicy anchovies, shrimp pad tai, Chinese pork belly noodles, wood mushrooms... the highlight was probably the coconut dessert - absolutely out of this world. The service is friendly and efficient. There is a beautiful patio for the outside dining. The area where the restaurant is located is up and coming, not touristy. Overall, a very good experience.

Place is pretty neat, and food was good. But I thought it should be $$$

By Silkosmooth |

I searched inexpensive Japanese on TripAdvisor on the way to Miami from Ft. Lauderdale. New to Miami and in the dark, it seemed to be out of nowhere and not very good neighborhood. So, I was doubting before we got to this place. However, this place looked very clean and loved their interior. The bar was nicely designed. After we were on the cruise ship for 8 days, we were hungry for Asian food, and this place had Japanese, Chinese and Korean food. Usually if they have too many different menus, all could be bad. But another pleasant surprise, all the rolls and Chinese were tasty. I don't know if it is inexpensive for Miami, but I was surprised to see that Fried rice is 18 dollars, Orange chicken was about 20 dollars and Ramen as 18 dollars. I thought it was pricy but the rating has it $$.

Good Asian Food

By Vanessa C |

I came here after reading an article where the ramen of this place was mentioned as being above average. Leaving, I can't say I'll be going back. The pros of this place is that they have their own parking lot (almost unheard of for the area) and the food is definitely good. But it's nothing to write home about or worth the price. They do have a lunch menu which is cheaper, knocking about 2-3 dollars for their plates, and they have a bento (which I didn't try) for 10.75. My guest and I ordered the gyoza (while very nicely cooked, it had absolutely no flavour), pork belly skewer (this was my favourite of the dishes, the pork had a great caramelized flavour and the side salad was very beautifully constructed), and the ramen available for lunch. While I will give them props for using half-boiled duck egg and great quality items in the ramen, the broth didn't have enough flavour and the noodles were extremely clumpy. For $10, it is worth it. But I wouldn't come here for dinner, when the prices go up. Come if you have some extra cash in your pocket, but from the other reviews, I'd say try their modern/fusion dishes.

Our favorite Japanese fusion spot in Design District

Our new favorite sushi spot in Design District. Great happy hours and everything on the menu is delicious. Shumai, dumplings, orange chicken, pad Thai.. can’t go wrong with anything you try

Travellers Beware

By F00Dwriter |

Ok, Let me start by saying it was my wife and I's fault for eating on Lincoln Rd in the first place because everyone has told us that it was just a tourist trap. I ordererd the shrimp with lemongrass soup and got (1) shrimp and (10) stinky mushrooms in it. Not to mention that the (1) shrimp tasted like the frozen shimp you get at the grocery store for cheap shrimp cocktail. afterwards I ordered a tuna tataki salad , thinking it was safe. WRONG. Tasted old and the salad I felt hadn't been washed because I bit into dirt and sand. My wife had the coconut chicken soup and we both gave it an OK at best. She also had a house salad with peanut dressing and it was OK as well. The service was typical of what I guess all the restaurants are like on Lincoln Rd, Average at best. TIP was included. Basically Lincoln Rd is a tourist trap and you can find much better restaurants to eat at in Miami Beach.

Always enjoy Shokudo!

By punnina65 |

This is a wonderful Japanese/Thai restaurant. I always enjoy coming here. In the cooler months there is a great dining space outdoors with a very nice atmosphere. Lunch specials are wonderful...a great variety and definitely something for everyone. I always go with the Sushi box where you are given great possibilities to build your box to your tastes. It is always very satisfying and at $14 can't be beat. The service is always very good and they are very friendly. I always eat Japanese so I really couldn't say how the Thai dishes are but I did try their homemade dumplings and they were delicious.

$5 Tapas--YUM!

By Beth L |

A friend and I made an impromptu stop into World Resource Cafe. I'm sure there are better places to eat in Miami Beach, but being hungry and crunched for time we were very pleased with the food and the service. They offer $5 sushi and tapas between 4-7PM. I ordered the dumplings which proved to be decent, but not the best I've had. However, the Seafood and Avocado salad was a delight--delicious!!! My friend ordered the spring rolls and bagel rolls and her plate was clean. All in all, a great place to stop in for a snack. Portions could be better, but for 5 bucks per plate we couldn't beat what we got.

Great Dinner

This hidden spot it's a gem! Every single thing we ordered was amazing! I loved the decoration and the service. Must have the salmon carpaccio and octopus appetizer. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food

Basic sushi and thai combo restaurant.Food is good, but nothing spectacular.

Medium to good Asian cusine

By Giles Luis M |

Good but lacks of real knowledge of Thai cuisine, bad green curry, regular phat Thai and good sushi. Requires a cheff with basics of asian cuisine. Recommend the staff to have 2 nights out one at a good sushi and one at a Thai and bring the flavors

Super happy to have a great Japanese restaurant in Miami

By LaJusticiera |

We went there after doing some googling. The only reference was that they are part of World Resourses. So we decided to try it with some friends. We sat at the very nice garden since the weather was perfect. I think we ordered like 15 plates to share. The sushi rolls and ceviche were incredible. The best was the tiger eye salmon roll. The pad tai was to die for. The Bibimpap was excellent. We did not try the Bun's. But the beer was chilled cold. The service excellent. Great ambiance. Finally true Japanese food. For dessert, the coconut cake!,, we will be back soon.

Went with 3 friends and we had a feast of almost everything we could eat and we were very pleased either with food n service. Highly recommend. Try to sit outdoor it is very pleasant.

Just Great!

By CandyManMia |

Since the first time (about 4 weeks ago) we have been back almost every week. We are hooked! Place feels like home, very clean, service is extremely good. Cuisine is fresh, flavorful. If you are looking for Asian food that is well prepared just go to this great place. Chef Armando - seriosuly one of the best! If Yoko, the owner, happens to be in when you are dining, she will make you feel like royalty. Also Sunday Brunch.

Great find

By normanp28 |

Tried it for the first time. What a wonderful experience. The food is Korean/Asian. 4 of us went and all had different dishes. Each course was Excellent

Lackluster Service, Good Food

By Kecha T |

My friends and I came on a very slow Sunday evening. We decided to sit outside on the patio, which is absolutely gorgeous. Very serene. We were the third table outside. We were seated immediately, but sat for about 15min before our server came out to greet us, and then another 20min to get water. We almost decided to leave because it took even longer for her to take our order. Once our food came, we were happy we stayed. I ordered Pad Thai and the miso soup. The order of pad thai was large and I ended up taking it home. I will definitely come back if I am in the Miami area again. And it is certainly worth a trip for a romantic night out or a special celebration.

Oh my Gaaaawwwddd..... FANTASTIC!!!!

By kevin t |

Was basically the reaction for every single dish I had at this amazing newbie in Miami. I had a very fresh and tangy Salmon Tiradito, which was a nice sashimi salmon dressed in tangy yuzu sauce (I think) with japanese pickles on top. the combined taste was emaculate. From the open kitchen I enjoyed BBQ pork buns. Got 2 generous sized buns stuffed with sweet pulled pork, dressed with 'fried' onions and kimchi, and a little mayo..... DIVINE!!!! Other notable dishes were the Ramen. As a foodie I know good Ramen is hard to make, despite the seemingly simple idea of noodles in broth, lots of restaurants fail at making a good impression. Well Shokudo stepped up to the plate and delivered a great Ramen with lots of hearty topping, with noodles that had the proper body / consistency, and the soup that tasted like it took days to make. Very happy to have discovered this plance and looking forward to going back again with a group a people and try lots of more of the diverse menu!

We love Shokudo. The food is always fresh and the staff really nice. the problem is that" take out food" is too popular and sometimes the regular customers seem not to have the attention they deserve.

BARF!

By JMiami_0 |

My husband and I would have never expected that such a well- put together restaurant in such a nice location such as Lincoln Road would so blatantly disregard the quality of their food and services? First thing: how do you mess up chicken? I ordered the chicken satay and it tasted like I had thrown up in my mouth.. I have never sent food back in my life. But I could not stand the taste of the chicken. Also the peanut sauce was watered down and did not have a thick consistency.. My husband's wasabi sauce was also mixed in with a filler like butter. I asked the waiter to bring something else to replace the horrible chicken: I ordered pork and shrimp deep fried dumplings: There were four to five dumplings and they had a pinch of pork in them- most of the dumplings were deep fried flower with a small piece of shrimp in the middle. To top our night off- I wound up feeling sick and unable to finish my dinner. In addition I paid more than I expected for very low quality food and service. My husband stared at our drinks for 15 whole minutes after we ordered while our waiter stood speaking to a waitress with our drinks in hand a couple of feet away from our table.. Then they added gratuity at the end without even informing us! For tourists And Locals BEWARE! this is not the best asian and thai cuisine that Miami Has to offer. This is Asian imitation with lots of watered down food, that has alot of filler and bad service! BEWARE

So so

By Aviv T |

We picked Shokudo because it was recommended by friends, and close to the arena prior to a Heat game. Place is lovely with nice outdoor sitting. Food was so so: we had a few items from the diverse Asian menu, and none knocked our socks off: Hamachi was too boney, too many burned peanuts in the pad Thai, the grilled octopus was actually the best dish. Service was not prompt, coupled with an error in billing. They could and should do a better job.

A Great Asian Restaurant in Miami Beach

By Kay34439 |

Every time I go to the Lincoln Road area for dinner i plan on trying something new, but I always end up visiting the World Resource Cafe. Their food is absolutely devine, the service is great. I really like their Spring Rolls (shrimp and pork wrapped in rice paper, flash friend and served with sweet sauce). They specialize in Thai and Japanese food. Its always fresh and delicious. A really great meal can be had here.

Delicious Ramen!

By Atorres07 |

There Ramen is perfect. From there noodles to there broth..Order a custom ramen called char siu ramen..Its basically there bbq pork in the ramen which is very typical Japanese. Pork buns are delicious. Lovely staff, very helpful..

Staff needs to improve

By Federico S |

This is a nice spot near Design District. I loved the food they prepare. The service was poor. Our table was not set up properly. We asked to turn off the air fan pointed at us and they did not. Annoying! They did't write the brand of of the wine in the wine list. I hate it and I had to drink a brand of Prosecco that I do not like.

Best authentic Asian (Japanese, Filipino, Korean, etc.) in town

By ABL030303 |

Best authentic Asian (Japanese, Filipino, Korean, etc.) in town, by far! Wonderful menu, with noodle and rice dishes, buns, dumplings, seafood, and sushi, complimented by great weekly/daily specials with a wonderful chef, considerate staff and great owner who is almost always on-site. Perfect for family meals or a romantic getaway. Great for indoor or outdoor patio dining.

A Cool Asian Spot in the Design District - World Resource Revival

By YonaShymllnTheGrove |

I'm delighted Miami has a great, if expensive, new revival of World Resource Cafe in the design district's up and coming Buena Vista neighborhood. With sleek modern Asian decor, a great back patio and sake bar, and highly attentive service, Shokudo picks up where World Resource left off and updates that generally winning formula with an excellent range of Pan Asian selections--from great dumplings to buns, panchans and crudos. Standouts include a terrific hamachi crudo, perfect dumplings, tender Korean steak, and very solid ramen and soups. Service was perhaps the most attentive I've experienced in some time in Miami, and it is clear the entire staff is working as a unit to make Shokudo please you. It worked for me, and I plan to visit again soon, possibly later at night, when I expect this place will truly thrive. Couple small notes: prices are more than a bit higher than I would expect, and soups can be spicy, so you may want to take note if your child orders that. (Pho comes with jalapenos, a true Miami touch.) We appreciated their valet service as well. Broadly, we had a great experience here. Glad Shokudo is back!

Delicious Everything

By Strempek |

I just ordered lunch from Shokudo and picked it up. The restaurant is beautiful, very zen, the staff was friendly and helpful, very kind. The food was really, really, delicious and my co-worker and I look forward to tasting more from Shokudo. We enjoyed the Pulled Pork Buns, Gyoza, Siu Mai, Momo, and the Miso Soup. I wish I took some pictures before we devoured it all because everything looked beautiful too. Amazing lunch! Thank you Shokudo!!

A great Asian place in Miami

By DaniTuga |

Very nice menu, with options from several countries such as Korea or Thailand... All with a real homemade feel. Went for dinner last Nat for the first time, and decided to go for lunch again today in order to try more items... The dumplings are amazing, and so are the noodle dishes...but my favorite is definitely the pork belly skewer. Besides the impeccable food, the service is flawless and warm, and the atmosphere elegant and modern. Beautiful terrace on the garden and a nice bar, too. Congrats on a really nice new restaurant in town!

Best Restaurant on Lincold Rd

By SoFlaFoodLover |

You MUST go to World Resources. The Tuna Tartar is a MUST. Great, authentic Japanese/ Thai food (owners are from Japan) and prices are reasonable. Staff is great and have been there a long time which is a very good sign..Go - you won't regret it!

World Resources - easy and fine

By MemeNoho |

This is a relaxed and well priced restaurant on wonderful Lincoln Road. There are so many choices and we have eaten and a number of the places there. We go to World Resources because they have several japanese maki choices on the menu...that they make without rice! Good for those low carb needs. Like all the places on Lincoln Road there is ample outside seating and a fun atmosphere.

A bad taste in my mouth

By fabiogambini |

The worst restaurant i ever been in miami. We were a party of 8 and were squised in a Round table for 5, extra silverware never arrived, and we had to share chopstick, forks and spoons. The plates were removed after a while, but with every order of drinks, they keep bringing paper napkins, without retriving the wet ones. The final resoult, was a table remembering the kindergarden lunch of my childhood. We keep asking for extra silverware and nobody cared. The food was ok, but didn't arrived all at the same time. No light at the tables, if not for a dim candel. Is difficult to reead the menu and more difficult to see what you have in your plate. Overall a bad experience and i wouldn't racomand this place.

The food quality counts!

By emmjaypee |

The World Resource Cafe easily outdid my high expectations into Asian fusion. We had a Spicy Tuna Tartar and Nam Sod (Hot Hot Pork) salad and both were excellent. The quality of both Green and Panang Curry was very satisfying. The setting is lacking a bit of imagination but who cares if the food tastes fantastic and the service is great.

OK sushi, nice ambiance...

OK sushi, nice ambiance on Lincoln Road.

The biggest disappointment!!!

By Andrea F |

My boyfriend and I decided to watch the all Star game with couple of friends and get some good food. This place was the biggest disappointment I've ever faced in my life. The order we placed cost us 140$ and we couldn't feed not even 3 people with it. Our Diet Coke came in a plastic cup with a lid - Rediculous!!!! The fried rice came with avocado chunks in it! When we called the place to talk to the manager, they hang up on us twice and were not trying to help at all... The MOD even started the argue with us... I mean really??? Don't ever eat here!

Average is the perfect word for this place

By Sergio Jalil |

The food is nothing special. Service is cordial but not very professional. The place looks decent but is a bit out of the way... so if you are nearby is OK but not worth a trip there. The menu looks interesting but the food is nothing special. The rice was over cooked and sticking to a level that had to be scrapped to detach it form the container where it was services. I went there on a slow week day... cannot image how worse it could get on crowded times. Not going back there for me

AMAZING FOOD!

By Miguel P |

Even though there is just a few servers not enough for the amount of tables nor the amount of guest!! It's completely worthy, It took more than 20 minutes to be acknowledge by any of the servers, but ask for the GIRLS!! they are great and pretty savvy about the menu. The Foi gra dumplings with the cherry relish was superb!!!the buns......really no words!! delicious. also the paid thaiu was unbelievable. but the start of the nights were the sparkling SAKE!! YES! Sparkling Sake simply to dye for!!!!and the Banana egg rolls with the chocolate sauce!!AMAZING!!! Great place, extremely comfortable and elegant. great prices great choice, I can not wait to go back!ahh. Valet parking available right there!

Decent food. The drinks...

By Neelu B |

Decent food. The drinks are not worth the money, but the maki rolls are really good.

cute dinner spot

By Shirley F. |

Cute little dinner place. Service was great. Our server knew his stuff and I liked his suggestions. I had the lychee dreams, it was ok but I would have preferred a regular lychee martini without all the extra stuff. The gyozas were pan seared and very tasty The chicken pad Thai was really delicious. Lots of options on the menu to choose from that I look forward to trying. They also have a happy hour with light bites and drinks

Happy hour happiness

By Linda K |

We happened to stop by during their 4:30 to 7:30 weekday happy hour, and the three of us ordered almost everything on the menu: edamame ($4), shishito peppers ($4), rainbow roll, chipotle salmon roll and two spicy tuna rolls ($7 each), popcorn cod ($8.50), calamari ($8.50) and a Thai beef salad ($8.50). The popcorn cod was the best dish, and the Thai beef salad the weakest. We also had two mixed drinks, a Thaigarita and Mango Redhead ($7 each). For $95 (including tax and tip), the three of us were happy and sated customers who will be returning again and again.

Very attractive sushi spot in Buena Vista/Design District

By vanmiami |

There is not a lot of eating variety in the Design District. I am sick of Michael's Genuine and MC Kitchen. They are good but I have been to both a million times. Shokudo came highly recommended. It is just a block or two away from Mandolin. Parking is on the street..the waiter said at busy times parking is difficult and they have valet and their own parking lot. We went on a late Saturday and got a lot of attention from our excellent waiter who calmly answered our many questions. The food was very good, with the fresh sushi a particular highlight. There is a pretty covered outdoor patio in the back

Surprising and Delicious New Asian Fusion Place

By twoinmaine |

Shokudo on a recent rainy Sunday at the edge of the Miami Design District was a pleasure. Good service, good food, fair price. Only wish we could have enjoyed the outdoor terrace, but heavy rains prevented that. At this first (Sunday) visit we sampled sushi, fish, meat, dumplings, and dessert from the regular menu rather than the brunch menu . All were very good, simply done with tastes clear and enjoyable. Service was attentive, with extra attention paid to questions about ingredients. How nice to add Shokudo to our "must go back" list of eateries in Miami.

Excellent food and service !

By Sylvie Robert |

Food quality is excellent. Great location near to the Design District. Charming outdoor patio as well. Lunch special are great value and bento boxes delicious.

Great spot

By Carron D |

Have been there twice. Both times we enjoyed a wonderful dinner and good service. Took the server's recommendation for our dinner. The place does get crowded and hard to get in - plan ahead.

Pleasure to have a new neighborhood Asian fusion place

By Emjayess331 |

We heard about the opening of Shokudo and that it was the "child" of the venerable Lincoln Road favorite, now closed, World Resources Cafe. We dropped in around 4:30 on a Sunday on our way home from the ballet. Early for dinner so we had a sushi roll, a salad with tuna and arugula and a cold noodle dish. All were tasty and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was cool, modern and peaceful. Service was welcoming and attentive. Prices are very fair. They have a small (unpaved) parking lot alongside and apparently valet parking during busier hours. We will definitely come back.

Nice relaxing night out

By Nathan U |

My wife and I are visiting from Wisconsin. We walked over and had a fantastic meal sample by several options from the small plates menu. Everything was so good it was hard to pick a favorite; but I will say I believe they served the best pork buns I’ve ever eaten! The wait staff was attentive and friendly. When our waiter learned it was our first time to Miami he brought us a complimentary serving of saki to welcome us. If I lived in Miami this would be my go-to place. Couldn’t be happier with the experience.

Terrible Service and curry

By SorayaCaracciolu |

This curry was greasy greasy greasy, it was like a eating spoonful of lime, lemongrass oil, barely any coconut flavor, 3 pieces of cubed chicken, 2 pieces of eggplant, tomato?! Gross, green beans and canned baby corn (could still taste the canned brine) it was a very shy of 2 full cups, not that I wanted to eat it! This "quality" product was $17, deeeeeefinitely not worth that. I called the restaurant and was told off by the girl, she said she was alone closing and also that the quality of the product merits the price(what quality??) I would seriously recommend NOT ordering delivery, if you want to try them out go in person, it might be better but if you want good curry( with actual veggies, chicken, curry! And coconut milk) skip it. Try Panya thai.

Total Rip off !!!

By Pat2009Uk |

Me and my husband went there for dinner on 28th December 2009 after reading the reviews. The place is a complete rip off, they charge you for 17% of your final bill as gratuities on the bill leaving you no choice of how much you wish to pay (particularly when you have a big bill as the place isnt cheap !) and then ask for additional tips as well. The food was average, presentation was nothing to talk about and service was absolutely atrocious. I had to ask for a spoon twice as they served a thai curry which had a runny gravy and expected me to eat with a fork . When the spoon finally arrived after two requests it was a serving spoon which has clearly left us unimpressed. After this level of service they charge you 17% gratuity and ask for additional tips as well. Surely you need to be very brave to do that !!!

Soooo Happy!

I was so nervous to try this new spot in my fave neck of Miami woods in the design district recently. New spot, new menu for me(a lot of my favorite Asian dishes). I was so scared that Miami would yet again dissapoint. Fingers crossed i ordered my kimchi and Bibimbop and my friend ordered the Kalbi. Had to go for the Korean as you all know we are starved for Korean food in SoFla. They nailed it!!!!! Since I've tried the other Asian dishes. The soft shell crab buns are unreal. I've tried a few of their dumplings and soups. The tom yum...YUM! Soon du bu is my go to fave take out soup these days. It's good to go with a few friends so you can try a lot of dishes in one seating. We ordered all the dumplings one day. Momo's were definitely a crowd favrite! Can go on and on so I'll STOP and point out how cute the spot is too. The outside patio is precious although I am not a biggest fan of outdoor seating, I gladly sat outside when my friends insisted. How perfect that i can bring my dog to my new fave local eatery and give him some Kalbi bones to boot. I am sure someone will point out one day that they are not the best for dogs. Until then...

Oh my...

Mmmm no identity. I have been here 3 times (its close to the office) i mostly do “ramen, pho” or whatever they call it here. Tonight, i gave everything a go. (Dumplings, sashimi, rolls, ramen). Tonight, i have decided that this was my last time here. Service is kind, but slow. Food was below average. I don’t mean to be mean (see my other reviews). I would not recommend this place to anyone who appreciates food. All others are welcome. 🤪

Jack of all trades Master of none

I was surprised to see a Japanese name restaurant to have so many other Asian dishes on the menu. That should be the first sign of caution. Shokudo have dim sum, Thai dishes, Vietnamese dishes, Korean and Japanese dishes. It is supposed to be Asian Fusion but instead it just tried to duplicate a few popular dishes from different countries. The ramen was way too salty and the sushi rolls were average at best. $18 for a bowl of below average ramen. The decor was pretty nice and the service was pretty good. But the food was below average.

Delicious takeout

By TheCubanGirl |

Delicious. One can never say that the food coming out of this kitchen isn't good, because it is a flavorful, texture happy experience. My last takeout order consisted of Thai tea, green curry, and ramen. So good! The item I always elect for is the Thai green curry with vegetables, divine! I am a green curry fan and this one is my favorite thus far. Yes, it could be a little spicier but the flavor balance is so right. My only issue is that when you eat this dish at a table versus when you enjoy it to go, the vegetables are different portion (I don't know why but I have tested this twice each way and it is true! Maybe I am getting different cooks different days?). Recently I have come to love their ramen. Omg. This broth is good. With the soft boiled egg and bamboo, I am in the purest state of happy while slurping away. The staff is very nice, especially the tall, light skinned Hispanic gentlemen. At least he spoke some Spanish, so I think he is. Now, as I love Shokudo, I did not rate them excellent due to the pricing. Although their food is awesome, they are a bit overpriced to the point of taking away from the value of the meals. Either the portion needs to be bigger or the prices on a few things need to drop a couple of bucks. $18 for ramen is pretty steep, i must say. There is a happy hour and lunch specials but I have not tried those out yet.

Lovely spot with innovative Asian fusion cuisine

By ElTiante23 |

What a lovely place! We enjoyed both a dinner and lunch here, eating outside on both occasions, and we were struck by the excellent, personalized service and terrific food. Every dish was tasty and creative (the two don't always go together), and we walked out satisfied and relaxed. Looking forward to our next trip to Miami so we can stop by again!

Great Stuff!

Best salmon sushi I've ever had. Octopus is great. Always gracious staff. The specials are generally out of this world. Ask the sushi chef for recommendations about what's great!

Food is great, but the service is horrible... The times we order drinks. They take 20 minutes to bring out drinks..

Lovely place, either lunch or dinner. For lunch they have a "bento option" that is very good. Loved their sushi

Worst ever

By Ning G |

We are traveling in Miami and find this restaurant near the design district. We wanted to try ramen noodle so we entered. They do have ramen noodle yet it's $18 per bowl. This is more expensive than most of the ramen shops in New York. And they only have chicken ramen and I asked if they could change to pork ramen and they said that they could but need to charge 2 more dollars. So it's $20 per bowl. So we thought it might be very good and we still go ahead and ordered. It took about half an hour for the food to be ready when there's almost no other clients but us in the restaurant. Finally the food is ready! Omg! I can't believe this is the ramen that costs $20 per bowl. The soup is almost cold, the egg is cold, the pork is tasteless, the noodle is so little... This is the worst ramen place that I've ever tried in my life...

Very good, and excellent

By Linda K |

We did not find any items which we did not like -- but some were better than others. The pork and shrimp siu mai are the best I've eaten (and at $9 for three dumplings, should be) and the laarb was well prepared and perfectly seasoned. Both sushi rolls were excellent with the salmon roll most outstanding. However, we found the char siu grisly and chewy (though the noodle it was served with wonderful), and the sauce on the duck in the buns was way too sweet for our taste. The poke was perfectly seasoned, but the whole roasted macadamia nuts were too large and hard to be enjoyed. In addition, they have a decent wine list with bottles affordably priced. Parking can be difficult in that neighborhood, but the restaurant has a free lot at the corner of NE 48th Street and NE 42nd Avenue.

Yin & Yang

This was our second time, the first time we tried the bento boxes on a weekday and were great. This time we went on a Saturday and there were only 1 server, so everything went in slow motion. The place is very nice and has a cool outdoor patio. The server was very attentive and funny. We ordered gyoza as starter were excellent, the ahi tuna was amazing but the tonkatsu was a disaster although the rice was very good. Overall I like very much the place, the ambiance is very peaceful ,the prices affordable, so for sure I will be back.

Decent food/service

3.5 overall - The shrimp dumplings were good. The octopus wa a bit chewy. The shabu shabu was a cool experience but a bit bland. The Thai donuts were okay. The cucumber drink was pretty decent. Service was good.

I am turning Japanese, I really think so...

By Miamismith305 |

Shokudo is a worthy option to enjoy Japanese food in Midtown Miami/Design District. if you go there during the night, we suggest that you dine in its outdoor area. A good place to share drinks with friends and/or share secrets with your souse.

Amazing

By Heat1978 |

I went several times And brought a bunch of different friends each time. Everybody was amazed! This is a real Japanese in the middle of nowhere! If you're not local is hard to find, is not really in a touristic area! So guests are mostly from here and this makes the atmosphere very relaxing but also very refined. There is a pretty garden outside and inside the decore is beautiful. I love to order the tuna poke with avocado and macadamia and the salmon carpaccio, awesome! Whatever roll u get is fantastic, I tried most of them and never had a complain; I suggest the spice ones though! Delicious!

Marvellous spot!

By JBOTR |

Ate outside as the dining room AC was a little chilly. Lovely tent covered courtyard in which we received excellent service all evening long. Started with miso soup and then a large platter of a variety of sushi. I could not distinguish which of the manner different rolls were the best, they were all so good. Great atmosphere is this hidden place a short north of the Design District. And the price with all the wine and tip was under $120 for the two of us. I will return.

amazing food

I was recently invited for dinner to Shokudo in midtown Miami and I left impressed. I am a vegetarian, and I had no problem finding delicious appetizers and main course dishes on the menu. I went for curry potato dumpling, and squash dumpling as appetizer, and then had Tofu pad thai as main course. Food was outstanding, as was our server Matt. For dessert we went for mochi ice cream balls, my favorite one being the green tea flavor. Overall I had great experience.

Disappointing dinner at Shokudo

By jaydorfman |

We had not been to Shokudo in a long time & looked forward to dinner. Sadly, we were disappointed. Perhaps the problem is that Chef Armando Is no longer there. They should remove him from the website as it is misleading. The Japanese eggplant, sushi & sashimi were ok, but the ramen was terrible. The broth lacked flavor except being somewhat salty. The noodles were rubbery & seemed to be the same noodles youbwould get in a packet of instant noodles. More disappointing however, was the response of the owner, Yoko, when we politely told her why we were not eating it, she said that ramen was,”not their best dish,” If something is on the menu, the restaurant should know how to make it well. Being told that they know they don’t make it well, is shocking. She did not apologize and did not remove it from the bill. We paid, including a reasonable tip, given the circumstances, and left a note explaining why we were not happy. Sadly, we will not return to a restaurant we previously liked.

good asian food, great location

By rebeccabbb |

With so many south beach restaurants that cost a bundle, you'll find great value for your dollar here. The food is delicious, the service good and the setting outdoors is so Lincoln Road. I'd recommend it!

Highly recommended Asian kitchen

Great staff, comfortable and relaxed setting, and some very nice dishes at a very fair price. Lot’s of different cuisines on menu.

Excellent Dining Experience

By NateKinFL |

There were 6 in our party for a late dinner this past weekend. We did make reservations which I highly reccomend. I also want to point out that most of the seating is outside with limiting seating inside. We had a great experience. We recevied very prompt and courteous service throughout the entire meal. I will warn you that on a weekend night the place does get very loud, so beware if you are looking for quiet. The menu was oustanding considering all the sushi, thai, and traditional asian dishes. All the food was oustanding. We would definately go back!

Something to Write Home About

By Raquel M |

Everything came together to make this a most excellent dining experience. First, found parking right in front of restaurant. Second, weather was perfect, so we were able to take advantage of their courtyard dining oasis. Third, it was Happy Hour, so had 3 bottles of Sapporo for the usual price of one. Fourth, it was President's Day and the restaurant was not busy, so there was no issue with slow service or slow kitchen. Fifth, wait staff was knowledgeable, made great recommendations, and the perfect combination of being attentive but not intrusive. Sixth, every dish we had was delicious, inspired and inventive. I wouldn't call it Asian Fusion because each dish whether it is Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Filipino, etc. maintains it's separate identity. I think it's more nouveau Pan-Asian cuisine, but whatever genre, it is tasty. Even something as mundane as miso soup was delicious. Highly recommended. The only downside is that the restaurant is under a flight path, so there was the occasional noise from an airplane flying overhead.

Good sushi off the beaten path

Nice fresh sushi, good atmosphere. The patio is very nice and cozy. Sometimes short on the service, but overall a very good place and experience.

Quite good extremely overpriced Sushi food in Lincoln

By il_Cri |

Always a pleasure to dine in Lincoln, but this restaurant is extremely overpriced for food quality (I had Sashimi and Tuna Tartar, plus soup) and service. Wouldn't go there again...

Pretty good

Went there for dinner last night. Had Thai curry. It was very tasty. Service was friendly. Thinking of going back there again tonight.

Great ambiance and terrific service

Went early one evening and was the only one there for an hour. Had very good wasabi ceviche followed with great kimchi side and Kalbi main course. Very interesting Asian menu with dishes that are clearly Korean, Japanese and Miami ! Valet parking available

Unfortunate review

By Travel_miami |

I've dined here before and food and service was fine. Both times not being very busy late evening. This time the service was extremely slow. We recieved our shishito peppers with no plates and no silver wear. My friend got it from the other table after we realized no one would bring them. Food took long and when desert came the server had not cleaned the table. I got up and sat at a new table to enjoy the desert. I wasn't gona watch my ice cream melt while he cleaned the table after I had been sitting there for some time. To finish up the story the point of why I'm so bothered. We left a tip in cash but the server felt he needed more and added an additional tip, after speaking with my American Express and getting my money back. I will never go there again. I work in the service industry and work hard daily very familiar with the buisness. This isn't right and maybe this server is in the wrong industry. Can't pick up the pace. I won't mention the name. But next time u dine here becarful.

Anniversary dinner

By linda p |

Have dined at Shokudo before. Excellent quality and service. Love the Madagascar Jasmine (Pikake) vine in bloom lining the side entrance fence! Enjoy the Asian fusion concept in food and decor, with dishes that are great for sharing: Had grilled octopus, fried calamari, and both lobster and shrimp chive gyoza. Main course was crab stuffed cod with house salad. Namagenshu specialty sake. Awesome dinner on a special day!

Favorite Sushi Restaurant

I keep coming back to this restaurant because of the food and the service. I am a big sushi lover but I also love the Pad Thai and the exotic drinks. The prices are good, food is great, and the bar can be fun.

Do Not Order Drinks

By rltchie |

My wife and I have eaten here before and the food is average but over-priced for what it is. A friend wanted to eat there this weekend but my wife and I had already eaten earlier so we decided to sit and have drinks instead. Boy! were we disappointed once again. We each ordered 2 scotches each and our friend had dinner. We could not believe it when we received the bill. Our friend was charged $120 for dinner and 2 scotches and we were charged $140 for 4 scotches. Of course this already included the tip and tax but $28 for each drink, that is highway robbery. We went just down the street to Van Dykes, the food is better and the drinks were $10 for each scotch (reasonable price). I have banned World Resource Restaurant from my place to eat and I am spreading the word as much as I can.
