Very La Jolla

By Nancy M |

Shorehouse Kitchen has become a breakfast institution in a very short time. It's reputation as a great place to start your day reflects the delicious food and the great wait staff. I've lived in La Jolla for forty years, and I take everyone who visits to this especially tasty restaurant.

Great beach cafe

By Janelle L |

Super surprised at how much I enjoyed the food here. It's a quaint beach town shack-like place. It's mostly covered patio and lots of fresh air. Parking is tough, but it's probably tough anywhere in this area. Fritto Misto - Calamari, Shrimp, Asparagus, Parmesan and Diced Red Bell Peppers Served with Calabrian Chili Sauce & Lemon Basil Aioli - it was a good light batter and the variety of deep fried foods made me happy. Grilled Pineapple Cilantro Shrimp Salad - Mixed Greens, Red Bell Peppers, Cucumber, Cilantro, Jalapeno, Roasted Macadamia Nuts - this was TASTY! The roasted Mac nuts gave the salad a nice flavor and texture. The shrimp was LARGE and plentiful.

Excellent breakfast spot

Everything on menu looked delicious. It was very difficult to chose! Went with the Eggs Benedict over risotto cake. It was amazing. Great ambience and atmosphere.

Nice cottage near the beach

A nice place for breakfast after or before a walk at La Jolla shores beach the owner is always there to check every thing is perfect.

Breakfast Worth the Wait

By frankiekoerner |

The reason you will probably have to wait 30 minutes for a table at Shorehouse is the food is drop dead delicious. If you like Eggs Benedict you will never get a more delicious serving than eggs over a bed of risotto, bacon and arugula. This was served with an order of hash browns which were the best I have had anywhere at any price. I would go back to Shorehouse just for an order of hash browns. My wife ordered poached eggs and sausage which were ordinary. The breakfast specials are the dish to order

Excellent breakfast and atmosphere

By Aaron S |

Awesome breakfast spot in LaJolla. Food, service and atmosphere are all excellent. The Monterey Omelette was delicious. Nice relaxed atmosphere usually a long wait but if you check in on line it speeds things up.

Quaint Beach Town Brunch

By Ashley R |

Stopped here on our way from the Aquarium to La Jolla. Small little place with nice outside seating, I had the Parmesan Risotto Eggs Benedict w/ Hashbrowns and Iced Mocha, the mocha was very yummy and so was my breakfast, the risotto cake was flavorful and so was the hollandaise, my poached egg was slightly overcooked but still deliicious. The rest of my party also liked there food. Street Parking only Here

Lots of clean plates

By Neil R |

After a long wait on a holiday weekend we finally got in. Food doesn’t disappoint- interesting Benedicts with very good hollandaise, great fresh OJ, good, very filling pancakes. Pleasant way to spend a couple of hours with friends or family. Coffee needs upgrade.

Great place for breakfast near the ocean

By russkwtx |

We went here for breakfast on a beautiful Sunday morning in La Jolla. We arrived early because parking can be hard to find and the place gets busy. I started with fresh squeezed orange juice and it was wonderful, very tasty ($3.75 for a 9 oz glass). I ordered the smoked salmon and bagel ($12.50). The portion of salmon was very generous. You get the usual--tomato, cream cheese, purple onions, and capers. Plus, there is a slice of fresh avocado. It all was absolutely delicious. The wife ordered the short rib hash with a buttermilk biscuit on the side ($14 plus $1.50). She loved it. The short ribs were cooked until the meat was incredibly tender, obviously in a red wine that was discernible. The biscuit was light and flaky. The food was absolutely great. Our service was friendly from the person who seated us to our waitress. The restaurant has the beach feel and is very laid back. Lots of people just relaxing and having a good time. Cool vibe. I would definitely return and I recommend this place highly.

This is our favorite San Diego brunch establishment!

By wethere |

It was apparently an average day on a Sunday morning in November in San Diego where we were very comfortable in shorts and t-shirt having brunch on the outside patio under blue skies and a subtle breeze. The beach bowl, salads and other breakfast and lunch items were fresh, healthy and so tasty! The staff were also very friendly and helpful in suggesting menu items. The coffee was great too!

Yum

Beautiful spot with delicious healthy options! Poached are perfect! Kids had banana chocolate chip pancakes that were the best I've ever had! Staff great!!

Good Brunch

By Smokinboles |

First time to La Jolla and first brunch. After looking at several spots, we zeroed in on Shorehouse Kitchen. We arrived at 9:15 on a summer Saturday morning and there was a 15-20 min wait. Since it was just two of us, we were seated within five. We ordered a Bloody Mary, a Paloma de Los Cabos margarita, the Monterey omelette and two eggs with sausage and toast. Both meals came with toast and choice of side. We both got sourdough toast and hash browns. Our drinks arrived in six mins but they were nothing special. The Bloody Mary was medium sized with lots of toppers. The margarita was small, with a twist of lime and grapefruit. Our plates arrived eight mins later. For my wife’s plate, the eggs were cooked perfectly but the sausage could’ve used two more mins on the flattop. My omelette was large but not fluffy. There were plenty of fillings and cheese tho. The sourdough toast was nicely toasted but needed more butter. The hash browns were buttery and crisp, just the way I like them. Our server, Bobby, sported a killer handlebar mustache. He was courteous and attentive and showed no flaws. In all, it came to $46.22 plus tip.

Poor service with mediocre food

By Spooky C |

After reading the reviews, we were excited to try this restaurant for brunch and we were very disappointed. The restaurant was busy for Sunday brunch, but that should not excuse the poor service. It took our server Jackie over 10 minutes to ask if we wanted anything to drink and another 10 to get our coffee (and we had to request it a second time). After finally ordering, we did not see Jackie until the food arrived which was a wait! Thankfully, another waitress, Megan, stepped up and refilled our beverages. Jackie never once asked how our meal was. The Bearnaise sauce was divine but the poached eggs were disappointing - one was soft poached and the other hard poached! The lemon yogurt was gritty and the fruit sparse and not great quality. Such a disappointment.

Delicious Salads on the Patio

By volcanogirl |

We came to Shorehouse Kitchen for lunch and thought it was fantastic. I had the Thai Chicken Salad with Napa cabbage, edamame, crushed peanuts, and red bell peppers. It was fantastic - light, fresh, and flavorful. Service was great, and we loved sitting outside on the pretty outdoor patio. We want to come back again for breakfast, particularly the French toast, the next time we're in the area - it looked amazing!

Popular, for good reasons

By expat326 |

Don't be surprised if there is a wait for a table for breakfast or brunch on the weekends. The menu includes all sorts of eggs, omelets, pancakes, and other choices. I can recommend the eggs benedict and the Tahitian vanilla pancakes. I like mine with sides of fresh fruit and yoghurt. And who doesn't like crispy bacon with breakfast? Specialty coffee drinks available. Recommend asking for a table in front, but there is also seating in back. Good place for kids with crayons and paper provided.

Amazing Breakfast

By D0rindaW |

I wish I could have ordered everything on the menu. The Caramelized Tahitian Vanilla Bean French Toast was wonderful. I plan on a return visit to taste a savory breakfast.

A few of us met for lunch and enjoyed their service and good food!. Several healthy options to choose from too. Between us we had the salmon, fennel and burrata salad, the Steak & Wedge Salad, Tarragon Chicken, and Cheeseburger. All good - no complaints here at all. Servers were friendly and accommodating as we added a couple of more people than expected near closing time. They only serve breakfast and lunch.

Another superb brunch place!

By TFabgirl |

Fair warning, this place does not accept reservations. So during weekends, it might be quite a wait. Other than that, it is a good indicator that if people are willing to wait for a table, means that it is that good. It is also close of the La Jolla shores and can be definitely busy during summer/tourist season. Other than that, I had the unique Crispy Parmesan Risotto & Honey Cured Bacon benedict with hash brown. It is so good. Also had their watermelon bellini with that. Just the right amount of fizz with a sweet summery flavor. Portion of food is good for one and may not leave room for dessert. That's just me. There are plenty of other dishes in the menu that might catch your fancy. The only dilemna is choosing which one. So goodluck with your choice(s)! Price is also very reasonable.

Great Breakfast Spot

By Esther_DeWitt |

Terrific food! The hash browns might be the best I’ve ever had. Omelette great, eggs Benedict had my husband raving. Casual atmosphere, pleasant service, delicious chai. I’m a fan!

Great menu, slow service

By mominphoenix |

Love their breakfast-all-day, broad menu (so hard to choose what to eat) and fantastic location ... but service is slow.

Great breakfast, beautiful outdoor seating!

By Justin P |

We had a great breakfast here! Loved sitting outside, at the time they are digging up the road in front so it was quite loud but otherwise everything was great! Would highly recommend for breakfast!

Lovely surprise

By Nancy C |

Just stopped in to get a latte and decided to have a full breakfast too. Lattes were great and we are coffee snobs. Service was excellent, several servers attended us so we never lacked for anything. We split the California omelette complete with really creamy goat cheese on an omelette filled with asparagus and mushrooms all very well prepared. We also split a specialty toast with raspberry preserves, cocoa spread and hazelnuts. Very yummy. Definitely come no back for more while we are in the area

Best Breakfast!

By MamaAye |

Quaint place amidst many. Stopped for breakfast on way to beach. SO glad I did! The fried chicken breakfast sandwich and Tahitian vanilla bean French toast was amazing! Perfectly crisp hash browns and great staff made this a top pick. Def. return when in town.

Delicious breakfast!

By Astrid K |

Hubby & I found this gem after a trip to Birch Aquarium and it was the perfect spot to enjoy a late breakfast on a lovely outdoor patio. I enjoyed the CA omelet and a cup of tea, both delicious. The waitress was pleasant & helpful. They also have baked goods go & clean bathrooms. I would definitely go back.

Great breakfast in beautiful La Jolla

By Alvaro L |

This was the last meal of our trip to San Diego. My wife and I really enjoyed an omelette California style and a waffle during a sunny day in their terrace. Service was very friendly and our food was served very fast.

Great atmosphere and brunch

By emily b |

Best hashbrowns I've ever had! Loved sitting outside on the patio...great service and good food. We went "early" for brunch and sat down with no wait. (Around 8am on a Sat.)

Great brunch with a fun vibe!

By gqjustin |

A few of my friends stopped by Shorehouse Kitchen for a late brunch before heading over to Everyday California for a kayak tour. Jordan greeted us at the host stand with a welcoming smile. She liked us from the start so she said she would seat us in her section! It was a treat because Jordan was so efficient, friendly, and easy-going. Our drinks and food were delivered quickly and accurately. Everything was great! The restaurant is decorated in a cute, modern, beach style. Loved it. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping by Shorehouse Kitchen!

Delicious Breakfast

By montecarlo5542 |

My wife and I ate here prior to a La Jolla caves kayak adventure. The service was great. I had a ham and avocado omelet with sourdough bread. It was quite possibly the best I’ve ever had. My wife had the breakfast bowl and thoroughly enjoyed it. Whole experience lasted about 30 minutes. We will definetly return!

Loved the mango pancakes!!!

By baglab1 |

Friendly staff and food was delicious. I had the mango pancakes and all I can say is wow... delicious and mangos inside the pancakes and on top. Others in our party were very satisfied with omelets and eggs. Fresh OJ too. I will return when I go back to La Jolla.

Breakfast at La Jolla shores

By wmoran1313 |

a regular stop for me when I am on business in La Jolla. Great coffee and breakfast as usual. Service is always very friendly.

Simple but exceptional breakfast spot!

By Katy Z |

We stopped here before a kayak tour for breakfast after reading great reviews online. The menu is simple but delicious. The options were quite unique for breakfast as well. The turkey quinoa benedict was the best breakfast I had all week during our stay in San Diego. The coffee was top notch according to my husband who is extremely picky about coffee. Highly recommend!

Extremely enjoyable

By Cynthialouiser |

Love this place. We had breakfast before heading across the street to try some snorkeling. I can't remember the name but I had a coffee with their in house made coconut...something and it was so delicious. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Busy as it is great. I had the eggs benny with risotto cakes, daughter had french toast, husband had short rib breakfast and son had eggs benny with ham. We all loved our meals. Highly recommend.

Seems To Be The Most Popular Local Spot

By Eric F |

I visited on a Saturday morning just after they opened. They feature breakfast classics with their own twist. I enjoyed a delicious meal with leisurely service which was just fine with me. When I passed by the restaurant the next morning, there was a sizeable line waiting for brunch. Go early.

Great Breakfast

By jwcorbett |

Best Breakfast we had in San Diego trip. Try the Beach Bowl and Bruleed Oatmeal. Omelet and Benedict very good. Not a long wait but could be in a high traffic times. Nice Patio but covered area.

Good breakfast

By Keith E |

Order the mango pancakes. The black cherry almond smoothie was also delicious. The rest of my party enjoyed their food as well.

Best Place for a great Margarita !

By Satish J |

A good location in the La Holla area, has adequate public parking nearby for convenience. Opt for a table in the outdoor part, it offers a nice comfortable feel. We liked the Norwegian smoked salman and bagel, the roasted tomato and goatcheese flatbread, and the salted caramel waffles. The choice of coffee was great, but if you like a Margarita, you will find one of the best here. The dash of orange and a faint tinge of chilly, with the black salt rim is so different and worth a try anytime. We loved this place

A must go to place in San Diego

By TravelBuddy80 |

This place gets busy but ince you've eaten there you'll understand why abs won't care about the wait when you go back. We ordered the mango pecan pancakes which were amazing. The chicken sandwich is so delicious and moist. The place had a great menu and its really healthy but doesn't have that healthy taste to it. Parking can be tough but every time we've gone we've found street parking but you could always pay and leave it in the parking lot.

Great food

By JBoise67 |

Super fun place to meet up with friends or with family. Lots of great menu items that taste super. We had eggs, pancakes, and a fruit bowl with granola, everybody loved it. A bit expensive but a nice atmosphere.

Nice food in brunch cafe near La Jolla

By Gloria Son |

It has comfortable and casual atmoshpere. Nice place for brunch and lunch! All foods were fresh and delicious, better than expected. In lunch time, you might be wait. I recommend french toast and egg benedict with organic mushrooms! Servers were nice too.

Nice end of our day at the Aquarium

By jcnagle850 |

The Shorehouse was very easy to find and since it was about 1:30 we had no trouble parking on the street. They have a marvelous menu and there was something for everyone from our grandkids to a niece who is particular eater. I decided to have a burger (aren't I boring) but it wasn't just a burger.... great toppings and some of the best bacon I have had in a long time. The carmelized onions were particularly good and weren't just the typical thrown on the grill type of thing you get many places. The coffee and coffee drinks were very nice too. Service was excellent and friendly.

Healthy brunch spot near the beach

By FanbaseOf1 |

Lots of healthy options for brunch, very open / outdoor seating. The fresh squeezed juices were amazing. There is gluten free bread but there are no gluten free pancakes or waffles, which was a big disappointment for my child. Really pleasant staff.

Great option for breakfast/brunch

By Janet W |

Shorehouse was recommended to us by the staff at a nearby hotel as a place to get a good breakfast. Glad we went to check it out as there are lots of great breakfast and brunch options - just what we needed to get going for the day. The staff was friendly and there was a lot to choose from on the menu. There's lots of room and a covered outdoor space. It's pretty casual and the atmosphere was laid back. I had the California omelet. The portions are good and the ingredients were nice and fresh. The bread they served with it comes from a local supplier. Nice to know it's fresh and locally made but was probably my least favorite part of the meal. The coffee was a hit!

Excellent food in an excellent location. The Acai bowl was incredible. Service was great. Would certainly go back.

Great brunch spot!

By SenorLG |

We were staying in La Jolla for a long weekend with friends and wanted to stop in for brunch before our flight out. For a Sunday mid-morning, the wait was surprisingly short (only 15-20 mins) and it was definitely worth it! Shorehouse has the best sunny, fresh, and al fresco dining experience fit for a weekend brunch. The lighting is perfect and the open-air feel makes it so you don't feel left out if you get sat at a table indoors. I ordered the paloma and although I could have done without all the ice and orange slice taking up 80% of the glass, it tasted great and the food was amazing. I ordered the mushroom eggs benedict with hashbrowns and the flavors and portions were fantastic. You definitely feel like you are getting plenty of food and everything was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. My friend got the parmesan risotto eggs benedict which was also amazing. They also have lots of options for brunch cocktails including spirited coffee drinks. Definitely will be back if I'm ever in the area again.

Lunch time visit

By Oneworld Traveller |

I was looking forward to eating at this place after reading the reviews. We waited 1.5 hours for our food as the waitress forgot to process our order, numerous people received there food before us who arrived after us, we had even booked a table. The Waitress was apologetic and tried to make things better with free coffee's and cakes. To be honest i would have rather just had my quick lunch and been on my way. Ordering brunch we had hash browns on our meals and they were all very oily, almost like the oil was not upto temperature when cooked. All in all a very average meal considering some of the fantastic food we have had everywhere else in San Diego. I wouldn't come to this place again, but i might have just been 1 who had a bad experience.

Benedict Bonanza

By Allen P |

What a great little place! I met a friend for breakfast here and was very impressed with the menu and the service. Delightful, fast service and the eggs benedict options are impressive!

Ok food and service

By Nanci P |

Menu seemed interesting but the food was just ok, nothing great. I had a Benedict and found it to be just average.

Great food, great service

By Eran E |

We had the eggs Benedict, short ribs and pancakes. All were very good and defiantly worth h the money. The experience was great due to our helpful waiter.

Could be 5 star...

By Challenger007 |

Good stuff... Location location location Quality fresh ingredients Outstanding hash browns (this IS actually a thing, since next to nobody puts superb Breakfast potatoes in front of me) Great Menu options Generous portions Tasty Food Cute Decor Outdoor Seating Great Coffee Food fired fast Dog friendly (plus a Dog Menu) Nicely executed Dog Scramble Room for improvement... Service-wait service slow to greet, slow in general-no refills, not much teamwork going on in regards to coordinating hot beverages being delivered together, tables not getting bussed, Server not checking back in on table, food etc... Zero eye contact from the other servers and staff and the food temperature!! Big miss-cold plate, cold Benny, cold sauce, cold Risotto cake). Sad face.... Would go back hoping that was better.

Excellent Breakfast

By TripsTipsAndTees |

We ate breakfast at Shorehouse Kitchen before our sea kayak tour. The food was delicious! I had the maple fried chicken sandwich with hash browns. The sandwich was very good and certainly not a run of the mill breakfast sandwich. The hash browns were nice and crispy! I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast!

Very big portions and friendly staff

By Mary R |

Just a quick walk from the Ocean. The place is very busy - we had a 15 minute wait for a table of 5 (a reasonable time I think). I ordered 2 eggs and biscuits and the entire plate was covered with scrambled eggs The portions were huge and very tasty - certainly enough to share.. My grandson got pancakes but they came with powered sugar which he does not like - and even though we got what we ordered the waitress immediately went back and got him pancakes with out the powered sugar - we did not ask her to do that - she just did it - now that is good customer service. Food was very good!

Great Breakfast

By Janice D |

Visited The Shorehouse Kitchen for a couple of mornings whilst we were staying in La Jolla. Ford was excellent and plentiful. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Really Nice Spot Near the Beach

By Kristen C |

Worth the wait. I like french toast and this did not disappoint. The fancy coffees also were fun. The have coffee while you wait and you can walk 2 blocks to the beach before or after your meal. Parking is limited on busy weekend summer days, but worth the walk.

yummy food, good service but a bit pricey

By desilady1 |

I met a friend there and I Ubered, so not sure about parking - although there seemed to be some street parking available. I ordered he avocado toast with 2 poached eggs and my friend had a complicated order. While they were very accommodating about the order they failed to mentioned that all her requests would be considered a la carte so it was a very expensive breakfast. I was there on a Monday during spring break and it was busy at 9:30AM.

Refuse me at door

By Travel |

I have never been and they refused to let me eat say long that I looked like someone who would not pay. I have reported them and have hired a lawyer and will be suing there ass. There were also dogs inside the restaurant and pet birds.

breakfast

By William Roland |

Great little breakfast restaurant with outdoor, covered seating. Unique food/menu items, not your typical breakfast menu. Great coffees menu.

Great food, great ambiance, great service!

By Matias S |

Great breakfast/brunch spot to visit if you are in the area. I got very lucky on Saturday morning before it got packed. I was seated right away and enjoyed my breakfast and the great service. I went back on Sunday but the wait was long... I get why. Worth the wait.

GREAT BREAKFAST!!!

By Jason S |

Great Staff...Great Food...Had an omelet with spinach, cheese, bacon, and peppers, and it was phenomenal!!! I was also told the pancakes were great!!! Thank you for the great service and food!

Over rated

By ykana |

I read a lot of reviews before chose this place to have breakfast. People post a lot of pictures that make you wanted to eat those foods, but they are basically pictures they don't translate the taste of it. I ordered the Brioche Breakfast Grilled Cheese Sandwich after the waitress tell me that it was really good. Big deception!! at the first few bites it was good. However, after a third of the sandwich you can't have it anymore because it is so greasy! The hash brown that came with it was even greasier. i couldn't eat it! I think for what it is this place is over priced. However, considering the location and the ambiance the price "might" make sense. Definitely not for the food! My husband had the Monterey Omelet and it was just ok, nothing great. There is nothing special about this place as people say in their reviews. If you like and know about food you will understand.

Best Hasbrowns Ever

By theressa_stonecipher |

We loved it so much we had brunch twice and ordered something different each time off of their breakfast menu. I love my hashbrowns crispy, and every bite was heaven!

Great food and service

Brunch

By Linda V |

Enjoyed a fabulous brunch on the outdoor patio prior to our bike tour in La Jolla. I enjoyed the California omelette, my husband had the Classic Benedict. Hearty portion, nice presentation. Friendly service.

Beach Breakfast and Lunch was great - the Staff there was outstanding - even in these times of “unemployment checks”!!

By 629clarkb |

Great service and hospitality - the Staff makes this place a great eatery with great selections … we enjoyed Breakfast and Lunch

a MUST

By Maria D |

Just came back from La Jolla and this was my favorite restaurant out of all. Great service, food was delicious (we had breakfast) I ordered the mushroom, spinach egg benedict and it was top notch. if you are in la Jolla you MUST go to this restaurant to try their flavorful meals. really a breakfast favorite from now on.

Best Breakfasts Ever

By Cheersfornow |

Once or twice a year we venture towards San Diego to enjoy the best animal conservation properties in the world - San Diego Zoo and San Diego Safari Park. If you cannot afford to go for a safari for thousands of dollars then a visit to these two venues provide the very best next thing at a mere $54 per visit. We stay at the La Jolla Beach and tennis club on the beach in La Jolla – surely the best hotel in San Diego. A stone’s throw away, up Avenida De La Playa, is the best Breakfast place we have ever encountered – Shorehouse Kitchen. They serve breakfast until 2:30 pm. Many of the ingredients are organic. Their coffee beans are roasted by Calabria Coffee Roasters and produce an excellent double espresso for only $1.95. We liked the place so much we ate there six days in a row. They offer five different Benedicts at around $14–our favorites were the seared salmon and baby kale and the organic mushroom and spinach with sun-dried tomatoes. We also liked the California omelet at $13.50. If you want something less substantial try the Beach Bowl at $9.50 or the toast specials, one of which had pistachios and fruit. The service is crisp and fast even when it is crowded. They have outdoor seating with heaters. The tables near the street are available on weekends. You would be hard pressed to find another breakfast place with such a variety of tasty offerings, organic ingredients and excellent service in a nice quiet area, just up from the ocean.

Delicious breakfast!

By Lcassatt |

We arrived early for breakfast, around 8:30 on a Sunday morning and there was no wait for our party of 5. Everything was delicious: fresh OJ, pancakes, maple fried chicken breakfast sandwich. Service was friendly and accommodating. Parking was a bit of a challenge but we parked a few streets over and enjoyed the walk. Would definitely visit again!

Excellent food, service could be better

By NoStoppinUs |

Management needs to learn how to turn over tables faster. People walked away due to long waits which could easily be shortened by not letting tables sit empty and dirty. That said, the food was outstanding. If it weren’t for the service, I would give 5 stars. The eggs were the best I’ve ever had. The French toast was divine. Even the tea was incredibly good.

Delicious unique breakfast on a sunny patio.

By Sara |

Delicious breakfast on a sunny patio. They've got a next-level Benedicts. I ate the Roasted veggies & pistachios and it was the best I've ever had. Staff was nice and kind, too. 10/10

Best breakfast

By Leland A |

Great options on menu, great service. Love this place. Had the classic eggs Benny, love the option of having tomato opposed to potatoes, pancakes were good too.

A very pleasant breakfast venue

By Levi4G |

We waited about 15 minutes to be seated but we squeezed into a fairly tight space. Despite the tight quarters, the service was very good, the menu offerings somewhat eclectic and the food quality was well-appreciated by all in our group. This is mostly an open-air or partially open-air restaurant in a very pleasant seaside community.

Waffle Baffle

By Donna B |

Had breakfast this morrning expecting great service and delicious food. Ordered waffle and sausage. Note to restaurant, if you cannot deliver a great waffle, do not have it on the menu. Waffle iron was not hot and subsequently waffle was a soggy mess... server disappeared after breakfast was delivered. I had to track down jam for my husbands toast. For such a highly rated breakfast place I thought it was sad...

Cold breakfast

By Pat M |

Poached eggs not hot, eggs for husband and potatoes same thing. Too expensive for cold food especially eggs. Did we send it back, no not worth waiting but will not go again.

MUST GO

By Todd |

It is worth taking a trip to La Jolla just to eat here!!!! The drinks were amazing (Paloma and Margarita), everything is fresh (fresh squeezed juices), authentic (homemade biscuits and REAL Maple syrup), and delicious!! The French toast was amazing! The pancakes are to die for!! AND the short rib hash is one of the top 5 best dishes I have EVER eaten!! Ask for Dan if he is there. He is the most professional, personable, and knowledgeable waiter I’ve had in years. I would recommend this place without hesitation to anyone I know.

Decent food

By drizzleart |

Had lunch and fish and chips were more like fish stick not a big piece of fish, left hungry. My wifes salad was delicious she said and was more than enough. Nice an clean and staff was ok, good decor

Great food, excellent service

By Lisalooby |

Found this place by luck when we were looking for somewhere to eat breakfast and then went back 3 times during our week in La Jolla. Fantastic breakfast - wide choice and really fresh and tasty ingredients. The Breakfast Bowl is well worth a try if you're looking for a healthier breakfast, but pancakes, waffles and eggs all great! Service was spot on - even had a bit of banter with my grumpy teenage son!

Excellent Salad and Service

By Kind Traveler |

We would love to come back and explore other lunch options. Our favorite items were the Quinoa, Red Pears and Pomegranate Salad and the Egg White and Tofu Frittata. The flavor of the Steak Frites was a turn-off for us, but other folks might like it.

Breakfast & more!

By DS1Arlington |

In La Jolla Shores serves breakfast all day: omelets, benedicts, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, and more. And, there is an extensive lunch menu. The food is freshly-prepared and the plates are generous. A Black Forest honey ham omelet included swiss cheese, avocado and sour cream with your choice of O’Brien potatoes, crispy hash browns (yes!) or sliced tomato. My corncakes with lemon and blueberries were tasty: hot, light, and cooked just right. Eat inside, or on the side porch or out front on picnic tables with shade umbrellas. It’s a beach house with ensures plenty of staff are available to serve you. Wifi is included.

Best crispy hashed browns in La Jolla! Other great food too!

By 2beans2000 |

Breakfast for lunch or lunch for lunch, all is good! I ordered the quinoa and beet salad... very fresh and tasty. My friend ordered eggs Benedict with bacon on a biscuit and she said the biscuit was dry but otherwise it was good. It was served with a very generous portion of very crispy hashed browns and we both proclaimed them the best in La Jolla!! There are many great salads and breakfast options on the menu. Parking can be tight so be patient and try the side streets. Coming at off-prime times will also help re parking. Service was good, but rather perfunctory... nothing special, not overly friendly, but food was served timely and hot. Inside and outdoor seating are available. There was a lone when we arrived so be ready for that. They serve coffee while waiting and have places to sit during the wait. Again, going early or later helps re lines, waiting, and parking. Enjoy!

Delicious!

By jenneelee28 |

We went here for two days in a row because the breakfast is sooo good! We ordered a good part of the menu and even my picky mom cleaned her plate! Definitely recommend! Get there early before it gets too busy!

Yummmm

By Kristen C |

Great food near a great beach. Got the chicken breakfast sandwich but the real treat was the brûlée grapefruit. Good enough to go back for 3 more.

Great breakfast spot!

By jgair |

The menu is extensive and the food here is amazing! The chai latte is delicious and the service and speed of getting food was great.

Excellent food but crazy busy

By Patricia P |

We must have timed it just right because we were seated almost immediately. The servers were attentive but not intrusive and the food was amazing. Prices were consistent with a beach town so be prepared.

Outstanding breakfast place!

Outstanding breakfast place in La Jolla, just down the street from La Jolla Shores Hotel. I had the brisket topped with two eggs over hash browns. Coffee was outstanding as was the fresh squeezed orange juice.

Good food close to the beach

By Trish Y |

Food was good. Average, nothing amazing. Service was ok, food took a long time to come out. If you're hungry...you'll be hungry for awhile after you sit down. Staff was friendly. Can walk here from La Jolla Shores which makes it easy for a beach day.

Top breakfast

By KNIGHT_WEI |

Its been a while since I saw such a large breakfast menu. Everything we ordered was really good and taste.

Amazing Brunch

By Tokala |

We came to play and beach and go to Kaboo Festival. Caught an extra early flight and arrived in time for breakfast. Our air bnb was in La Jolla so we headed that way! I Googled breakfast / brunch and this spot was on the list, the reviews sounded promising. We found a parking spot and had a bit of a wait to be seated outside, worth it. The staff was super friendly and recommended tasty items. We were happily satiated from our incredible eggs Benedict and rosy cheeked from our herby mimosas so I felt we skipped out of there. And the beach was literally down the road! Of course we walked down there and jumped in! A must try special Cafe!

Good breakfast

By Glendy22 |

The breakfast was good delicious, very flavorful the angus was tender and went well with the crispy hash browns! Price is decent, service was good. Seating available inside and outside. I recommend.

A good choice

By @rosiejetsoff |

Great find for brunch. Obviously very popular with locals and visitors. Entertaining watching the wetsuit brigade walking down the street opposite in the rain. Interesting menu. Worth waiting for.

Food takes a long time to come out

By Melanie T |

Shorehouse Kitchen does not accept reservations (at least not for lunch) but luckily, there was a Yelp Waitlist. Our group of 10 got there on a Friday at around 1 pm and luckily only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. Ordering and actually getting the food was a different story though. It took forever for our waitress to even come give us a menu. Also, I don't know if it's a San Diego thing, but they didn't give us any water until we asked for it, which also took a while. The food took almost an hour to come out! I know that we're a large party but I noticed a couple who got there are the same time as us also get their food at the same time. I guess they're short-staffed. But she brought us the check with a quickness, after we had asked for it. But about the food. To start, each half of the table got their own plate of Balsamic Heirloom Tomatoes with Burrata (garlic, basil, pine nuts & sourdough crostini with avocado). I loved the burrata, but the tomato tasted a bit old because it was kind of soggy. No complaints about the bread though because you can't really go wrong with a sourdough crostini. For my main, I wanted something light, so I had the Thai Chicken Salad (napa cabbage, romaine, edamame, carrots, red bell peppers, crushed peanuts, celery, cilantro, sesame peanut dressing) - I opted out of the celery of course. The salad was actually pretty huge - I couldn't even finish it. However, it's just a lot of veggies. I could have used a bit less salad and a bit more chicken, as there were only five pieces. They were grilled very nicely though - perfectly cooked. Overall, the food was decent but the wait time for food was a turn off. I also don't the the food was anything amazing that I would go out of my way for.

Cute Place, Excellent Brucnh

By Isabel2710 |

When we are on vacation we often sleep in and look for a good brunch place. This place had a wait - as many places in California do - but it was worth the wait indeed. It is a charming little house near the beach. The food was excellent. My husband loved the fancy mocha as well.

When healthy meets greasy spoon! PERFECT breakfast spot in the Village!

By Martinimom |

I am so happy this gem has come to the Village. GREAT service, never have to ask for coffee refills. The coffee is the best! Now about the food. It is the perfect place to go with someone who wants to eat an egg white tofu omelette or the friend who has their bib on ready to dive into the short rib hash! There is something good for everyone. The homemade salsas tasted like they just made them minutes before I devoured them. This is my new spot! Just go you won't regret it....

Great breakfast

By David O |

A very comfortable place to have breakfast in the La Jolla Shores. Very attentive wait staff, dog friendly. Nothing extraordinary about the breakfast, but very good eggs, bacon, etc.

Would recommend!

By SciGuyMrD |

Interesting, tasty breakfast options at a decent price and with upbeat, solid service. Indoor and patio dining options. Would recommend for breakfast.

Amazing, casual atmosphere with fantastic food and great cocktails!

By Buffalogirl41 |

We walked from the beach to visit this restaurant twice during our vacation. I had the steak salad and a Paloma on the first visit, it was delicious! They were very accommodating to our party of kids and adults with a range of food allergies. They make great breakfasts as well with something on the menu for everyone! I highly recommend this place. Totally chill atmosphere, great food and VERY reasonable prices! Try it and tables inside are great too!

A nice meal after a brutal wait.

By Patty8888 |

Waiting to get seated = 45 minutes, plus waiting to get served after ordering + another 35 minutes and by then, I was seriously hungry. Yes, the smoked salmon on bagel was very good, but nothing special, and my friend’s brioche sandwich with home fries needed salt and catsup to perk up the interest. So the meal was fine but not outstanding while the wait was outstanding. I liked the place but it was packed with people and I don’t quite see what accounts for its success.

Amazing Breakfast & Great Service

By robbyg346 |

Absolutely amazing breakfast spot in La Jolla. I had the short rib hash with eggs and a biscuit and it was beyond delicious. The portion was very generous, ended up walking around all day with a very full stomach. Enjoyed so much I ended up coming back another morning for the cornmeal pancakes which were also delicious. Prices were moderate and the stuff is all super nice. Definitely prepare for a wait on the weekend, although they move quickly.

Great breakfast

By AFoodieDMV |

Cute spot within walking distance from our hotel. I ordered the roasted turkey with Brussels sprouts egg Benedict with a side of sliced tomatoes and was pleasantly surprised that it was served without a bun. Over a small portion of quinoa. Great flavors. My son ordered the fried chicken sandwich. Our waitress was very attentive and food came out quickly - would def come back!

We go out of our way for breakfast here!

By Kelly M |

We’ve been coming to the Shores specifically for breakfast here for years. Their salads and flatbreads are terrific and fresh, if you’re looking for lunch, instead. The Beach Bowl is perfect for healthier starts and the cornmeal pancakes with blueberries are the bomb! I had to have a bite (or, two) of my daughters Tahitian vanilla French toast last time we were in . . AMAZING!! Perfect way to begin or end a long walk on the beach. (If there’s a line, grab a coffee from the walk up counter next to the hostess stand- it’s worth the wait.)

Best place for Breakfast.

By Gaurav L |

5 out of 5 Great staff and amazing place. Food was the best and prepared nicely. Staff is very very kind and loving place. 🥰

Highly recommend for Bruch in La Jolla.

By terrycarlson2018 |

We didn't wait long - but probably got lucky considering the line when we left. We all ordered different items and drinks...all very good. Service was great. Will go back.

Don't miss breakfast here

By Perryville_John |

Great servers. Excellent food. You may have to wait if you do not arrive first thing in the morning. But the wait is well worth it. Lots of great breakfast options. The maple fried chicken breakfast sandwich was a favorite, but everything on the menu is great! We ate breakfast there every morning in town. Dogs are welcomed.

Surprising gem

By Alaskafan88 |

A short walk from our hotel down a quaint La Jolla town led us to this wonderful breakfast/lunch cafe! I had Corn Meal pancakes which were the best pancakes I've ever had in my life. Sit on the patio where heaters were available. Friendly service too.

Wished we went back!

By paulkG3500FF |

Great food, only specially prepared, very good service, quite decent coffee and a fine ambience sitting outside (with subtle heaters to take out the morning chill!)

Must eat here!

By katie02868 |

This is the place! Breakfast was delicious, great coffee, crispy hash browns and great service. They even have a doggie menu. I will visit this cute restaurant again!

Excellent Breakfast

By Andy4VT |

We had breakfast at Shorehouse twice during our La Jolla visit. The food is great; however, the service is simply ok. The servers are very friendly, but it was clear the table assignments are not organized. In both cases our servers were responsible for tables at all ends of the restaurant. Needless to say, it was difficult to get a drink refill other than when our food was brought out. Definitely recommend stopping in, just make sure you're not in a hurry.

Great Breakfast

By Anco M |

Went here with a family of 4 on our first day on holiday. Great setting with ability to sit outside and a lovely breakfast for everybody, covering the basics (eggs & toast and eggs benedict) as well as interesting different dishes. Friendly service.

Great atmosphere, decent food

By zracoon |

Atmosphere here is nice, we ate on the patio. Service was efficient and good. Food wasn't amazing but was generally good.

Hosts, food, location : everything is amazing about this restaurant !

By PSyal |

There may be wait if you go here for a weekend brunch -- but its sunny San Diego! and the beach is literally 3 blocks away. Take a walk while you wait and enjoy the weather. They text you when your table is available -- it took us about 3 mins to reach back to the place where the very amazing hostess showed us our table in the sun, which is what we requested. The food is pretty awesome too. I had the tofu frittata and it tasted amazing with the fresh squeezed orange juice. Also, for a place in La Jolla at a great location serving great food, this place isn't expensive at all. Definite recommendation!

An elite breakfast paradise

By payitfwd71 |

Shorehouse offers lunch items but they are all about breakfast. The entrees they create and fresh ingredients they use are heavenly. You can tell that the owner really cares about quality. Everything is prepared to perfection. Their mango pancakes are *the* best pancakes I have ever had anywhere. So fluffy and the toppings are out of this world. I also love when places give you the option of breakfast potatoes. Hash browns are good but there is just something special about well made O'Brien potatoes. Their fresh OJ is delicious. Also, the people who work there are so so so friendly. Really nice group of people. The area is absolutely gorgeous. Such a beautiful place to eat outdoors. There are only two "problems" a person could come up with. First of all, because Shorehouse Kitchen is such high quality, they often get extremely busy. Luckily there is a little area to the side serving good coffee and baked goods so you can sip or snack while you wait. The other "problem" you will have is deciding what to order. You will probably keep bouncing back and forth between mouthwatering choices up until the moment the waitstaff arrives. That's a nice problem to have.

Creative California cuisine at La Jolla Cove

By Jill B |

Creative California cuisine at La Jolla Cove -- love a menu with lots of descriptive words and adjectives, and this had them! Burger with fig jam, feta cheese pesto - yum! Waffles were fine, but small portion for a lunch. Chicken with heirloom tomatoes, Burrata cheese (a new one for me), and more were yummy.

Best Breakfast

By lovesad1201 |

If you are looking for a great place to eat then this is the place. The restaurant gives you a beachy feel and the staff is super nice. The food is delicious. I recommend coming here for breakfast. Try the pancakes and homefries. You wont be disappointed

Fantastic lunch

By gilbert h |

Went here e couples and a 9 year old, I could have ate anything on the menu and been happy that includes the all day breakfast menu. We ordered 5 separate dishes and they were all excellent. The salads were particularly great and the combination of ingredients on the sandwich menu was interesting I’d definitely go back If I had one criticism it would be the shoe string fries, come on you can do better than that

Well patronized by locals

By MaxineKentfield |

easy to walk to on the Shores of La Jolla, and delicious breakfasts. Very casual but efficient service.

Best breakfast by the beach

By Flo L |

The variety on the menu made us sad we could not order more, and had only discovered this restaurant on our last day. The food portions were generous, but not ridiculous. It was prepared well and presented nicely. Our waitress was attentive without being too obtrusive. We were checked for temperature before entering. The inside area was well ventilated and patrons were spaced apart. Most of the seating is outdoors. We will be back!

Don’t miss this!

By JNA1980 |

This was fabulous! I had the eggs Benedict over Parmesan risotto. It. Was. Amazing. My mom had black first ham and cheese omelet and she loved it. The hash brows and potatoes O’Brien were so yummy. So glad we stopped in! Great start to the day!

I'm in Heaven!

By Pat K |

I saw the phenomenal reviews for this place, but I was skeptical. Then I saw the crowd waiting patiently for their turn to be seated and thought, hmmm, there must be something to this place. Well, it was fantastic. First off, the breakfast selection alone was mind boggling. Add an additional lunch menu and specials and you'll be lucky to make a decision. But, after a short struggle (the hardest thing I had to do that day!), we made our choices and decided to split 2 items to be able to try each. 1) Short ribs with eggs is to die for! It seemed to be served on a bed of crispy hash browns with 2 eggs on top and came with a from scratch biscuit. YUMM!! 2) Traditional lox and bagel was great. It came with a ton of smoked salmon, capers, cream cheese and was garnished with red onion and avocado. It was far more than we could eat, and very tasty. 3) The serve staff went out of their way to keep coffee cups filled, questions answered and otherwise making sure you're happy...we were! Bottom line, IF YOU ARE IN A 50 MILE RADIUS YOU MUST STOP HERE! No, they don't take reservations and yes, you'll have to wait, but give them your mobile # and they'll give you a time frame and text you when your table is ready. THEN WALK TO THE BEACH, which is 3 short blocks away. Like I said, I'm in heaven!

Amazing food

By loves_2_travel_1966 |

Came here based in reviews and recommendations and soooo glad we did. Lots of brunch, lunch and dinner choices but tried their brunch dishes. Amazing quality and will definitely be back again.

Amazing Breakfast

By 17KAG |

Driving out of San Diego, we opted to have breakfast at this place. As we walked up, we could see how busy it was an how many people seemed to know each other. If the locals eat there, that is a good thing in our minds. I opted for the short stack of mango pancakes with mango guava compote and granola. Delicious. My wife had the maple chicken sandwich with potatoes (also delicious). The cappuccinos were pleasant enough but did not fit the description of a cappuccino and lacked strong coffee flavour.

Baked Goods, Breakfast & Coffee to die for!

By UmmaBAtraveller |

A-amazing ! The home made bread options are amazing! I had the multigrain toasted which was fabulous. The breakfasts also are great . Try the rib hash .. Then the pancakes with maple syrup.. Everything is great ..And the service was good to.. A must do .. come hungry !

Great Country Breakfast- open air - Views

By John R |

Very open dining with surround views inside and outside on the covered patio. I had the black coffee in a nice mug, eggs benedict "Traditional" and hash browns. Perfect tasting hollandaise, canadian bacon and good english muffin. Crispy hash browns and great service. Enjoy the extended menu offering just about anything you can imagine.

Breakfast just the way I like it - outdoors in the sun

By CClarkBar |

Met out-of-town friends for early breakfast at cozy and casual Shorehouse Kitchen and was impressed. Menu was great and diverse for all types of appetites. I had an affordable and light meal: two poached eggs and one slice of toast (though I really expected two) for $6.50. Hubby had an omelette speciality that he really liked. Food was tasty; service was great. Sitting outdoors on a warm and sunny November weekday morning at La Jolla Shores with friends from back east just highlights our crazy good Southern California lifestyle. Shorehouse Kitchen is a great spot for breakfast or lunch.

Surely Shorehouse

By Stacy L |

Loved the breakfast options. The yogurt açaí bowl was delicious, the lavender coffee, and the omelette was our family’s fav!

GREAT Breakfast!

By Carl L |

This place is terrific! Great food, great service and nice facilities. I had traditional Eggs Benedict. Maybe the best I have ever had. Hash browns were perfect. Patio of inside was efficient and nice. Food was fast and perfectly prepared. I can highly recommend this place! Great start to the day!

Excellent Breakfast 2 blocks from the beach!

By 2beans2000 |

I love eggs Benedicts and Shore house Kitchen has so many to choose from!! Today I chose the Risotto cake Benedict with arugula.... scrumptious! The crispy risotto cake was a perfect stand-in over the english muffin. ‘Sorry I forgot to take a picture of the beautiful and delightful entree..... i just dug in to enjoy it and it disappeared! My friend enjoyed the breakfast burrito (huge!) which she says she gets all the time...... very good taste and generous portions!

Hearty Breakfast

By datawest20 |

Ate here twice. Both times excellent. Creative omelets. My son especially like the mango pancakes. Only mild criticism were the turkey sausages, which could have been a little more crisp. Eggs well cooked to order. Decaf, hot and cold brewed coffee available. Nice outdoor sheltered dining. Seems very popular. Breakfast for three ~$ 50 with tip

Wonderful

By WonderWander |

What’s not to like? Excellent food, lovely service, easy walk to look at the water, and a perfect place to begin a day.

Amazing breakfast/brunch

By DHBourke |

If you are anywhere near this restaurant be sure to visit it for breakfast or brunch. The food is outstanding, it's just blocks from the beach, and the portions are huge. My favorite is the benedict with crispy risotto. My husband loves their french toast. If you want to be healthy they have plenty of fresh fruit and yogurt options as well. Now my favorite place in La Jolla Shores.

Good meal and atmosphere

By AllisonL65 |

After having flown cross country and not having eaten anything all day I wanted a good meal and the ability to relax and I got both. Sitting outdoors next to a flowerbed was lovely and my burger lunch was tasty. Service was attentive and I appreciated the to go cup of coffee!

Pleasant meal in beach area

By nkwins |

We were in La Jolla to view real estate. We stopped at Shorehouse Kitchen on the recommendation of a local. There are tables on the street as well as inside. We sat on the patio. Breakfast was tasty and pleasant. There is a coffee & bakery counter inside that does a brisk business with those walking by, including their pups. The restaurant is charming and friendly. On the patio, watch for uneven bricks. My chair leg got stuck.

Delicious, natural ingredients for breakfast and lunch near the beach

By 2beans2000 |

Shorehouse Kitchen is a perfect place to meet friends for breakfast or lunch. Its easy beachy feel provides plenty of outdoor or indoor seating. Great salads, generous sandwiches, delicious lattes, scrumptious eggs benedicts and more.

Fantastic!

By crvela |

The food was delicious. My husband and I had brunch...salted caramel waffle was awesome, and so was the french toast. Our waiter, Bobby, was super helpful with advice on things to do in the area. No, Bobby, there are no seals in Texas. Thanks for telling us where to find them!!

Delicious Breakfast!

By SDSPhoenix |

Wow! It was difficult to decide but based upon the waitress' recommendation I had the grilled salmon with eggs. It was amazing. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. My husband had the maple chicken and egg sandwich. Also delicious And did I mention the muffins. Luckily the restaurant is in a great walking are because we were both stuffed!

Lunch in La Jolla!

By Danielle C |

Driving through this area my best friend and I spotted this cute little beach house turned cafe. Definitely known for eye catching meals specifically breakfast! My friend had fish and chips and I had the chicken pesto pistachio sandwich. Both were outstanding! Fun, casual and relaxed atmosphere. And just a couple of blocks from the ocean! Can't wait to go back here!

Not cheap but a very good breakfast made to order. Nice service and overall a good choice for a quality breakfast.

By matt f |

Nice location with quality food and service. They have many "fancy" choices, but are very pleasant to make a variation (at a cost) for you.

Good breakfast within walking distance to La Jolla Shores

By TDW_3002 |

Good breakfast within walking distance to La Jolla Shores, was fairly business on a Sunday morning when we went. nice variety, some good flavor options.

The best breakfast!

By Kidsgrowing |

What a quaint little place! Located about a block from the beach. I love a good breakfast place and this did not disappoint! We had the California omelet and a stack of the fluffiest buttermilk pancakes. A good breakfast place always has warm syrup which this one did. Friendly waitress and great food equals the perfect spot.

The best breakfast in town

By Zenaidy N |

It was a very good choice ! We only waited 10 min. outside in the very beautiful sitting area, Angela helped to accommodate the 7 of us and then it was time for an amazing breakfast... Angela, the service manager as well as the waiters were super kind. Thank you guys, see you again at our next trip to La Jolla

casual cozy spot

By travmav00 |

We very much enjoyed a noon meal here recently, one a breakfast item (eggs benedict) while the other had a lunch item (cod & fries). Both were very good and served quickly. We each enjoyed an excellent hot drink to start (chai latte & salted caramel latte), while people-watching from the covered outdoor seating area. Staff and servers were very attentive throughout the meal. Great visit.

Great spot

By dnab2038 |

Breakfast was excellent! Pork carnitas was very good! My wife has the California omelet and it was also very good! The hash browns were some of the best I’ve ever had!

GREAT spot for breakfast...SOMETHING for EVERYONE!

By matt f |

Great "FOLKSY" place with excellent customer service. We visit La Jolla Shores every year and always visit Shorehouse Kitchen! You can order off the menu or "customize" your meal! GREAT way to start your BEACH day!

Our go-to breakfast place!

By Tripper10021 |

Well prepared breakfast in ample quantities. Delicious asparagus mushroom omelet, waffle, granola and yogurt. Nice staff, Moderate prices.

You'll spend more time waiting, but great food!

By wanderingwyneth |

We spent a total of 45 minutes waiting to be seated and then about 30 minutes for our food....but it was worth it. I would highly recommend reservations before going on a weekend morning. Lovely spot, fun eating outside with heat lamps.

Great Lunch

By Ann H |

We stopped here for lunch and the food was delicious. The charm of the place was really great as well as the service. I would go back if we visited again!

YUMMY

By Megan M |

This place was delicious. The wait wasn't horrible on a week day (Friday AM). You can order a coffee, smoothie, etc. while waiting for your table. Try their macadamia nut milk! We ordered two types of eggs bene and split them. Both were AMAZING. I would highly recommend this place for breakfast! Short walk to the beach after to work off some of the amazing food & drinks!

Slow service

By theuncle2018 |

Bring your dog and be prepared for an hour-long (or longer) lunch. If you’re in the mood for a leisurely lunch, I’d give it 5 stars. The menu is small enough to pick something and order within a couple minutes. The excuse of slow service is that “its lunchtime”. Doesn’t that happen every day when people want to eat? I’d imaging that if we had lunch at 3pm, the service would have been quite fast. In any case, the food is good and they have probably the nicest, cleanest bathroom near the beach. The bathroom gets 5 stars. Staff is professional and friendly.

One of the BEST Breakfasts Ever

By Beth P |

(I accidentally posted a review for a similarly-named restaurant thinking it was Storehouse Kitchen, so that same review is below but is for THIS RESTAURANT) Simply One of the BEST Restaurants Anywhere! The Shores Restaurant is a rare gem; a truly delightful spot for breakfast (and I can imagine the same applies to lunch and dinner). After a rough evening/night traveling with two young kids, this place was the ideal start to our first full day in La Jolla (and thanks to the take out menu, every morning after!). After a short wait (we walked around the block looking at the lovely homes), we were seated at a comfy banquette table, kids were offered crayons and fun kids menus, and we settled in to the airy, breezy comfort of the place. The first sip of coffee and gulp of OJ and I was hooked...easily the best of both I had ever had. My foodie husband and picky kids (and picky me) were all amazed by the food...cinnamon/maple toast, banana and caramel waffles, pancakes, eggs benedict, bagel with smoked salmon...each one unique, tasty, fresh and surprisingly affordable. This restaurant is a MUST for breakfast in La Jolla.

Nice place for lunch

By happytraveler49 |

We needed a place to have lunch before heading to the beach. This was perfect. It is a casual restaurnt so children are welcomed. The service was outstanding and the food yummy. I really enjoyed the Cucumber & Avocado Veggie Sandwich. As a vegetarian, I often have to settle for veggie burgers. I really enjoyed my sandwich!!! Oh so yummy and healthy!!! Will definitely return if in the area.

Wow - perfect brunch spot!

By Elaine K |

So refreshing to enter a restaurant and experience warm greetings and super friendly and helpful waitstaff! Fantastic menu choices for food and beverages. Multiple benedict choices, waffles, etc. Wished we lived closer!

Great breakfasts and lunches in La Jolla

By David O |

Our favorite breakfast spot. A wide variety of really good options. We are there at least weekly. Lunches are also very good.

Delicious breakfast

By teeniek |

Came for a weekday breakfast and left satisfied. Decided to come here after seeing all the wonderful reviews and it lived up to expectations. Decided to indulge on dessert breakfast while on vacation and enjoyed the french toast and cornmeal pancakes. Good selection of teas for non-coffee drinkers. Heated, dog-friendly outdoor patio. Service could have been a bit friendlier and more welcoming but improved during the course of our breakfast.

Great place for breakfast before the beach

By James L |

The oatmeal with grilled pineapple was great and my family can not get enough of the vanilla lates. We are going again Before we leave town!!

EXCEPTIONAL FOOD

By M-Evan-Chen |

We were visiting La Jolla and it happened to be our 45th wedding anniversary. Mimosas were the order of the day, to start off the celebratory time and they were outstanding. Fresh squeezed orange juice and all. We enjoyed the cool vibe of this popular place, the bountiful and interesting egg dishes and bread and the excellent service. Arriving at 9:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning, we were expecting a long wait, but surprizingly, we only had to wait a few minutes. I guess we beat the rush. After enjoying every bite, we took a pleasant walk down to the beach, which is very close. All in all a delightful morning,

Don't get the breakfast burrito

By Craig W |

I ordered the breakfast burrito to go so I didn't find out how bad it was until I got home . The tortilla was soaked in grease, totally gross, so unable to hold and eat. I did tried to open up the tortilla and eat the insides but the taste was unbearable. Won't be going to this restaurant again.

Exceeded Expectations

By Land&Sea |

This eatery is excellent. Good service and top quality ingredients including local, organic choices. Enjoyed and would recommend. Safe Travels!

Breakfast two days in a row...

By Manny S |

Staying in La Jolla for the weekend and looking for a place to eat breakfast we found Shorehouse via Yelp. Drove there and easily found curbside parking right in front. Nice area, clean and safe. Seated almost immediately on a Saturday morning around 9 am. Service was prompt and courteous. Our teenage daughter was not feeling well with a sore throat. We ask one of the staff if they'd mind making a cup of warm water with cayenne pepper, which is a pretty effective home remedy for sore throat. She went out of her way to make it taste better by adding some honey and lemon to the mix and putting it in a to-go coffee cup. I thank her for that. Now, back to the restaurant review. The food was amazing. Waffle, french toast, hash browns, pancakes, fresh OJ. Everything was delicious. So good we went back the very next morning. You definitely need to try this place out. You'll love it. Dog friendly too. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely visit Shorehouse again!

Nice post-bike ride lunch

By a-squared74 |

We are here for lunch after our bike tour. Nice outdoor seating area. We had a chicken burrata sandwich and a BLT. Both were very good, and the service was very friendly. Food came out quickly. They are also dog-friendly.

A Fortunate Find

By debeb55 |

Quaint local restaurant. Easy to find parking. Friendly waitress. Delicious breakfast made from fresh ingredients. I had the best traditional French toast with real maple syrup and freshly made whipped cream and blueberries. My husband had an egg, bacon, and toast breakfast with hash brown potatoes, all exceeded expectations.

Hangover cure, for sure!

By Lynn L |

This place is charming AND delicious, one of us was dining vegetarian and had no problem finding a great entree. The rest of us had many mimosas to brave the cold water on our kayak trip(across street @ Everyday Cali) and the yummiest pancakes ever! Coffee was amazing, too. Will definitely be adding breakfast, pre-kayak, @ Shorehouse Kitchen to our yearly tradition.

Great Place in La Jolla

By Jeff C |

A group of us had breakfast/lunch here. The setting is nice, the waitstaff and food are excellent. Everything that we had was well received, including French toast, risotto, salad and chiliqilies (sp?). The prices are reasonable particularly given the location. They even have free coffee while you wait for your table. We will definitely return.

Great place for Breakfast

By Ian T |

Storehouse Kitchen is a fantastic location for Breakfast. Plenty of seating outside and busy on a Saturday morning. Staff were friendly and efficient and food was good breakfast. My only "beef" is our server put the bill on our table immediately after our food after we only had one bite - a practice I detest as there may be a problem with the food or something else.

Always great food!

By lamontravel |

I️ was meeting some college friends for lunch. Two of us had the avocado toast with eggs, and another had the cartelized brussel sprouts. It was all delicious. I️ have eaten there many times, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’ve never had a bad meal there. It’s great gourmet fresh food in La Jolla Shores.

Another great visit

By ckl915 |

Can’t beat the menu here. Second visit. Vanilla cream with the French toast tastes like ice cream. Short rib hash hit the spot. House made dulce de leche chai latte was rich. Ample portions for kids meals. 45 min wait on Sunday morning with group of 7 but worth it!

Amazing place at La Jolla

By MYGabrielle |

We loved it! Food and attention were great! The chilaquiles with carnitas absolutely DELICIOUS! Great place to have breakfast Had to wait for a table 30 mins but absolutely worth it

Great Outdoor Brunch

By LaurieandBrent |

Good food and friendly service. We will be back. They had outdoor dining which was fine. I wish these outdoor places would add some plants and make the outdoor areas more attractive.
