Real authentic BBQ experience in Miami

By Pedro Mejia Bernal |

The place was really nice, although the floor is way too greasy, somebody should do something because someone could get hurt. The decoration was really nice, the staff was super nice and polite, the prices were not that expensive, portions are really nice, the experience was super nice and the food quality was delicious, I would come back again and tell other people about it.

Good inexpensive food

By junebug829 |

We used to go here all the time years ago when it was very popular and every thing was really good and a good value for a family meal. When we tried it again, I thought the food was just average and not such a good value anymore.

Questionable sanitation

By Katrina M |

Food is great, probably the best you could get for your money’s worth around the area. However, every single time I go the floor is too slippery and makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the establishment.

It hit the spot

By JuVenturing |

We stopped there to wait out rush hour traffic. We shared a rack of rib. The food was pretty good. The meat wasn't quite falling off the bone the way I like, but it was still pretty good. Everything was tasty and the cornbread was good. Unfortunately the 5¢ pie sign is just decoration :)

Great bbq

By Tray W |

Great food and amazing atmosphere. I had the the pulled pork sandwich, it was amazing. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had.

BBQ

By ImaFoodie |

This company has been around for a long time. The bbq is good but it's a hit or miss with them. The bbq beef brisket plate is good but make sure you check your food before you go if you're taking it to go. We learned the hard way, as ours had a lot of fatty pieces. Other than that the flavor is good and they offer different sauces. The babyback ribs same thing, check your order. The corn bread isn't sweet which I like and the corn on the cob, we ordered plain with just butter. The chicken was cooked well and not dry. The portion size of the cole slaw isn't large so if you are looking to eat a good portion make sure to ask for double side of it or an extra side.

Worth the Experience

By RobertBoynton |

Great experience, laid-back atmosphere, sitting is shared in large wooden tables which makes it possible to interact with other customers, service provided by Jill was outstanding, food was a little bit cold but excellent. Would go back again and recommend. Restrooms need work and were a bit on the dirty side. Make sure to search on their website for coupons, they offer them from time to time. Only pet peeve is that you have to “print” the coupons which are not accepted by just showing your phone. Incredible, the restaurant needs to work on that, very weird at this day and age demanding a printed piece of paper!!!

Covid 19. Pick up Service

By Macla G |

Very disappointing experience. Food quality is getting worse. Ribs are dry, fries are greasy, cold and saggy. Bread saggy, not toasted. Inside, the restaurant, when placing the order, a few guys with no masks or gloves. One drinking beer. Outside the place, at pick up window, mo enforcement of social distancing, no signs to make the line, no restaurant personnel assuring these preventive measures of an epidemic. Mediocrity in something we shall not pay, as we experienced this afternoon.

Idk

The restaurant is VERY family friendly! I will deffinitly be back. Heather is such a great waitress, my DAUGTHER loved her and our food was AMAZING!

Very dry meat, not worth stopping here!!

By D H |

Stopped in while on a business trip. Burnt ends were very dry and very little flavor. Spare ribs were tough and dry. Baby back ribs were dry, chewy, and not tender as they should be. Pulled pork was average, but by far the best part of our meal. Baked beans seemed like generic brand canned beans. Overall very disappointing. Would not recommend.

Delicious Burger!

By juliegI6249SD |

This place has been around for over 60 years and now I know why. The cheeseburger was the best I’ve had in a long time. It was well seasoned and the grill taste just yummy! I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting but was ready for my second half as soon as I got some more room in my stomach. The sweet potato was also good. I didn’t have to put anything on it. The cole slaw was sweet! The service was prompt and friendly. The only drawback for me were the picnic tables. The benches are hard and there was not any support for my back. The tables are family style. There wasn’t availablility for us to sit across from each other and have some personal space.

Great ribs

By shoeguy24 |

Ribs and sauces are fantastic. Key lime pie was excellent as well. Gilbert was our server, he explained things well and gave great service.

great burger & large

By RobS |

The burger had a great taste. The fries were good and a lot of them. The cole slaw was only fair. It tasted stale.the service was very good.

Good ‘Q in South Florida

By PineBarrensMom |

We have eaten here several times and have always had a good meal. Shorty’s has it down to a science - the food is consistently good, staff is friendly and efficient. Generous portion size too. Try the fried okra. Brisket and pork are really good. Tender and well-sauced. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent

By Dennis H |

Returned to Shorty’s after 50 years and I enjoyed it now as much as then. I did notice that the sauce they bring to the table is different and not warm. The staff was real friendly and politely listened while I rambled on about working there 50 years ago for Shorty himself. Would highly recommend if in the area....

Very nice BBQ

By stx83x21 |

Classic American BBQ restaurant with nice interior. Baby ribs and appetizers were tasty, big portions..

Relic that’s seen it’s Day

By Matheus007 |

Shorty’s has been around forever. I remember eating there as a child 40 years ago. It’s a friendly place, but the food is not so great. The ribs and chicken are a bit dry, and I suspect they spend a fair amount of their cooked lives under a heat lamp. The signature corn on the cob is frankly revolting. Sitting on a bench eating cheap bbq seemed kind of fun at one time, but the food isn’t too good anymore, and it’s not particularly cheap. Shorty’s is a legend in Miami, but even legends have a responsibility to stay in the game. If you want tasty bbq, look elsewhere.

Great BBQ

By Big D McD |

Shorty’s is a miami institution. Great bbq. Yes Miami has great BBQ. The one on South Dixie Highway is classic. Once in the boon docks now a city grew around it. Go here. Hot tangy bbq. Corn is delicious. Pork brisket and chicken are all good. People who have moved away come back just to go to Shorty’s.

Tasty BBQ

By Lisa L |

Went Shortys for early dinner tonight. Old school decor which is great. Community tables. Our waitress,Katie was lovely. We shared a combo brisket and chicken and spare ribs platter. Both meals came with fries, cole slaw and garlic bread. There are a variety of sauces for your selection. Brisket was a little dry but otherwise food was great and service was quick and friendly.

Delicious!!!

By LowaDeck |

In Miami for work. Drove past this place a few times and noticed the sign saying just how long they have been open. (68 Years if I am not mistaken!!). So happy that I decided to go in with my coworkers. Great food with wonderful service. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and was extremely happy that I did. Loved every bite!! The waitress (I believe her name was Sandra) provided great service and was exceptional. If time allows, I will definitely go back before I leave Miami. If not, I WILL definitely be back once I return.

Smooth Operator...

By John J |

I've been eating at Shorty's for many many years and it's always been good. I like the Pork Steak lunch special and the chicken is tender and juicy. This time I went with the half BBQ chicken with fries and cole slaw. The food was good like always, but the real difference today was my server...Sade. It was my first time with her but she was a joy. Polite, friendly and outgoing, she was quick with the food and an engaging person to talk with. These days, it's hard to find good customer service or even a restaurant with a full compliment of staff, but Sade was a delight. Well done to whoever is in charge of hiring.

Unforgettable corn!

By Cid |

Every time I come to Miami, I go to Shorty’s. Nice rustic place, tables to be shared, floor that slips of so much fat that comes out of the kitchen and American country environment. It has the best cooked corn in the world, from my point of view, which comes with butter melting over it. The ribs, the famous ribs, are delicious. And you eat 98% of things with your hands and therefore, there are rolls of paper towel on the tables to help you clean your face, beard, moustache and hands. At the end, bring a pot with warm water (a lavender) for the hygiene of your fingers. But remember: nothing chic, on the contrary, quite rustic. But for me, only the corn is worth a visit!

Poor quality

By Extraordinary449767 |

I tried to give this restaurant a chance but after two visits, my family was disappointed. The ribs were overcooked and did not taste good (possibly recycled from another day). Chicken was plain and lacking flavor. The pre-frozen corn was wet and mucky from being thawed and sitting for hours in the Bain Marie.

Won’t be disappointed!

By Emma H |

We ate at Shorty’s for the first time and will definitely be back. The managers were very friendly and our server, Cookie, did ask awesome job! Highly recommend for delicious barbecue and great service.

Forget shorty's

By Crankywoman |

Omg, one of the worst food experiences I can remember this year. Wanted to try the brisket, but by 730, they had run out. I saw another beef sandwich, which was recommended by the staff. It was fatty yet somehow paper dry and chewy. The bbq sauce was odd, a strong taste of vingar, a hint of chemicals, with a whiff of bbq flavor. The fries weren't crispy and lukewarm. The ribs were good (not great), but pretty overpriced for the scant portion. Sorry Shorty.

"Great location and food"

By Stefano B |

"Good place to visit for good barbecue dinning while in South Florida. Good service, nice decor and very good food (although not the best brisket I have had as it was not juicy enough). Their menu has a lot of variety and prices are well balanced.

I should have never came here

By Louis e |

The only thing that was good was the drink my food was over cooked it didn’t taste good at alll not one bit I willl never come here again just nasty and it has a funny texture smell NEVER EVER Again!

Best in Florida!!! Best corn in cob

By Nettodismobile |

Excellent option to eat delicious tender ribs. IFamily atmosphere. The service is very good and the prices is OK. The corn was soaked in butter and so tender. The sandwiches were piled high with enough meat for two sandwiches!!! Of course they are the best, they are smoking ribs for over 69 years!!!! Since 1951......

Not my kind of BBQ

By Henk H |

Tonight we had diner at Shorty’s. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice. There is a lot to see hanging at the wall. The menu looks hopefull but what we get at our plates was not what we hoped for. The babybackribs were not so tender and with more fat as we used to. The brisket came to early from the BBQ. There were musclelines to taste and the smokering was not so clearly at every piece. The pulled pork was good, could be less sauce but that’s personal. The drinks (Pepsi) is diluted with chlorid (tap) water. So the taste of a real Pepsi is gone. Service was friendly.

A MIAMI TRADITION FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS!!!

By Capt-Adi |

Consistently the best ribs in town.... Whether you want a quick lunch or a catered event for hundreds, THIS IS THE PLACE -- moderately priced "LUNCH SPECIALS" are available all day -- the ribs are "fall off the bone" good -- with Shorty's "special secret sauce" -- lots of paper towels at the table "just in case" -- VERY CASUAL seating arrangements (make a new friend while you're here) -

alright

By mia d |

The sever was good. i had chicken tenders and fries it was good. but when i got lemonade it tasted like led or metal i think the cup was dirty and i got the brownie sundae and it taste like a strong key lime pie taste. i think they need to clean the plates and cups better.

An institution going south

By miamisaks |

We were frequent patrons of Shortys when we lived in the area and always thought it to be a fun place with very reasonable prices. We went there for the first time in 15 years and found the barbecue chicken and brisket to be inedibly dry. It was terrible. The beer was cold, the onion rings good but the portion small and overpriced. The bathrooms were filthy. The place has gone down in quality and should be avoided.

Great BBQ

By Gary R |

I have been going to Shorty's for at least 20 years, its always the same. Good BBQ, Good Service, and reasonable pricing. Sometimes I even get it to go.

Another BBQ place that doesn't know how to do it right

By scott x |

We found this place at the end of the MetroRail line while we were visiting Miami. We were excited cuz it was so crowded... until we got the food... a rib and chicken combo with DRIED out chicken and mediocre ribs. What a disappointment! The coleslaw was amazing but that ain't BBQ.

Wonderful BBQ

By Vincent K |

Wonderfully smokey but not overwhelmingly so. Meat was tender, though not falling off the bone and not dry. The house BBQ sauce was served in a peper flake (grated cheese) shaker bottle. Be careful with it. You could end up with a plateful of sauce!! It can come out all at once. The best cole slaw I've had anywhere.

Yummy!!!

By CathyP1953 |

Our server was wonderful!!! He suggested corn on the cob.....delicious!!! Great flavor!!! I ordered pulled pork sandwich with fries and slaw. Husband ordered brisket sandwich- both were yummy!!! Excellent service!!

Not Bad 4 South Florida BBQ

By celainej1 |

I took my daughter to the original Shorty's on US1 in Miami since we were in the neighborhood. Not much has changed in the 30 plus years that I've been eating there. We both opted for the pulled pork sandwich with fries and I had corn on the cob. The corn literally floats in a sea of butter and is always tasty and the fries were hot and fresh. The pork was tender and the sauce was good, if not maybe a little too sweet. Our server was excellent and she kept us well taken care of. It can't match North Carolina BBQ but like I said, not too bad for South Florida.

Messy restaurant

By Carole N |

Didn’t live up to its expectations. We visited this restaurant from reading some of the reviews , we arrived about 7pm it wasn’t overly busy but the restaurant was quite messy especially on the floors and in the kitchen area . Food waste all over the place . We sat down and was talked through the menu with the server . We ordered appetiser of fried okra and a combo of all baby back ribs , which came with 2 sides which we had french fries , coleslaw and garlic bread . When the fried okra came to the table it was really poor over deep fried . When placing the whole of the order we explained to the server we didn’t eat garlic bread so could we exchange the garlic bread for something else ? The server would replace it with an extra pot of coleslaw , when our plate of food came up we indeed received garlic bread and not the extra coleslaw as a greed. The ribs were ok not the best we have had but not the worse we have had , but we left the restaurant feeling it was unkept with no attention to detail . We did mention about the quality of the okra but the server wasn’t interested in our comments we didnt really eat much of it .

Lunch Rip Off!

By Rtmiami |

Hadn't been to Shorty's in awhile and went to the Bird Road location. Decided to have the usual Spare Rib Lunch Special, which had always been a favorite and a good deal. Service as usual was average and did take long to serve although the place wasn't that busy. When the plate arrived I was immediately disappointed. For $8.99 I got 3 short, think I-Phone 6 size , barely meaty ribs with too much fat and bony. A lukewarm, not chilled, coleslaw and a small buttered toast. It seems this is another restaurant that relies on it's name and past memories of the gullible public to rip-off their customers and forgets that great food at reasonable prices is what made them successful in the first place. If they continue with this business model it won't be long before others also notice and stop going all together. I for one have crossed them off my list.

Great BQ

By KRC |

Looking for casual great food this is just right. Great selection of classic BQ. Half chicken was done perfectly.

A must stop eatery

By Iralgo |

Whenever in Miami a must eat restaurant. Food and service are both excellent. Very large portions of brisket and French fries. Coleslaw was excellent. I really enjoy Shorty's. Highly recommend to all. Rating.. Excellent.

Kicked off the restaurant

By fhenriqueb |

I’m very peaced off with the restaurant. Today me and my friends was invited to leave the place. Why? Because the manager needed to use the table for another group. This is unbelievable, i work as a pilot, travelling the world and i have never seen it before. Last time i was there.

Never again!

By L10JONfan |

Our party of 16 stopped in for dinner while visiting Miami, FL. Loved the decor. 15 of us received our order while the 16th person waited forever. When he asked the waiter where his dinner was, he was told "we ran out of brisket". The waiter then walked off. No one offered him something else. It was the strangest thing I have ever witnessed. Needless to say we will never go back there again. Those of us that did receive our orders were far from impressed with the food. Most of it was cold. The corn on the cob looked old. Fried Green tomatoes were disgusting.

Barbecue with a Caribbean twist!

By D. Brian Mann |

I stopped in here the night I arrived, as it was just around the corner from my hotel. It was great. I had the beef plate with fries and slaw; a very generous portion. The sauces are unique and very tasty, and the meat is super-tender with no gristle at all. Very interesting seasonings. The place has apparently been there for more than 60 years, and I can certainly see why. I will definitely go back the next time I am in Miami, and try the corn!

Good time, good food

By Candice C |

Perfect ending to our trip to the zoo. Very pleasant and laid back atmosphere, affordable and mouth watering bar b q.I'm not one for heavy meats but opted to try the award winning brisket and chicken combo. WELL worth it. Our server was engaging and we enjoyed every minute. Perfect version of what I consider "comfort food" and will certainly be back for more during future travels.

Must-to-eat in Miami

By jimbocerv |

Nice place. Family, friendly, relax atmosphere. The food is very good, definitely. All special dish are recommended, we tried several ones. Service is very kindly, and fast.

As always great BB-Q

By David D |

It’s been a couple of years since I went the last time and to say the very least, baby back ribs, cole slaw and fries were as good as ever. Can’t go wrong with corn on the cob and butter either. Great place to eat bbq in the south

Went with a party of 19. Not

By Elizabeth M |

Went with a party of 19. Not a long wait. Waiter was great and patient. Beer was cold even got pitchers. Brisket ribs chicken all so darn tasty. Make sure to get the onion rings. Parking is a bit tricky. The food was just delicious best bbq we’ve ever had.

Best brisket we have ever eaten!

By Patricia Z |

Excellent! The best brisket we have ever eaten! Would definitely make this our favorite eating establishment if we lived closer. The servers were very welcoming and kind. The food selection was great. Be sure to get the okra, absolutely delicious!

Bar-B-Q with my family

By MopsyBear1 |

This is the best or one of the best I can find in Miami. The service is friendly and very casual. Long wood tables seats, some you share other are smaller and accommodate your family. You order and your food is brought to the table hot and delicious. The service is very simple and the food is delicious. They have tea, soda, and pitchers of beer. The ribs fall of the bone and are absolutely mouth watering, they serve great chicken, steak, burgers etc. They come with fry’s, baked potatoes or sweet potatoes, corn on the cob extra but great, garlic bread and great cole slaw or salad. The key lime pie is delicious as well as other desserts. I highly recommend this place to have a great Bar-b-q meal at a an affordable price.

Best BBQ in Town

By luistona |

Do yourself a favor and drop in and order the full rack of baby back ribs, corn on the cob, and pecan pie!!! Simply the very best South Florida has to offer!!!

Good food, bad service

By Dri-Yazbek |

Traditional food, good, fast but painful service with weak and arrogant waiters. We couldn't order dessert our pq was on the cell phone and didn't look around, client from the next table got up pq tired of calling her and made order in the kitchen. My son got up to order refill and dessert for another attendant and we were simply forgotten. When asked the request made careta and said q we never did ... In SP would be fired

Great Barbecue Sauce, Ok Ribs..

By Despieangel |

Perhaps my earlier memories of this restaurant are blurred, but this place was once a family favorite, that no longer serves the fresh, delicious food it once did. On a recent visit found it to be just OK. The ribs and the sides were acceptable- just not excellent. Tasted like they had been sitting for awhile. On a positive note, the barbecue sauce was still delicious!

Amazing BBQ

By YoBob536 |

We were hungry and stopped in to this little place and so glad we did. The ribs we so tender and juicy. The brisket was exceptional. Love their BBQ sauce as well. I soaked it up with bread! LOL...Service and atmosphere made this a comfortable dinning experience. Highly recommend if you find yourself in the area.

Consistently Great

By FamilyTraveler62 |

The South Dixie location has been our go to for great BBQ for years. Pricing, quality, service is always a pleasant surprise. This visit our server was so helpful and friendly that she made it fun too. Brisket and ribs were tasty and tender. Love the warm bbq sauce.

Down Hill

By jonathan r |

Every year I visit my brother in Miami and every year we visit shorties over the past few years I have noticed its going down hill, maybe they are just going on there past good history, but this time I am afraid will be the last !! as I final insult to a terrible left meal was the waiter following us into the car park and asking why we did not leave a tip, might the clue be in that my brother almost left his entire meal and I left half of mine, and he never enquired how our meal was?? There are better places to go and I don't expected to be insulted.I really wanted to talk to the manager but being British my brother did not want to make a fuss, so I have decided to write if I can stop just one other person having a bad meal the JOB DONE. One last thing ever since I have been going the toilets have been a disgrace So here is my tip DON"T GO TO SHORTIES

Awesome!!

By mark ried |

This is a great old fashioned come as you are BBQ has great food and great service. I must caution that if you order the corn on the cob it’s super hot!! Let it cool down. In addition to the outstanding BBQ the burger is awesome! Check out the drippings BBQ sauce, I was addicted but currently I am in remission!

Since1951 BBQ Giant

By Esther I |

If you are looking for great BBQ, no frills, this is the place. The menu is varied And will please everybody. Good service, communal tables, paper plates And once again great BBQ.

Decent BBQ

By Geoffrey M |

We have been coming here since the early 60's. Sure times have changed, prices have gone up, selections have been added to respond to changed demographics, but the bottom line remains the same. Good spare ribs, good fries, good beans, good corn., good cole slaw, good beef and pork sandwich (as long as it isn't the trimmings but is actual slice), decent chicken. Make sure you use a coupon from their website and save a few bucks.

Delicious brisket

By Renee Y |

The brisket was delicious and the service was friendly and quick. Cute barbecue place. We didn't try any of the other food.

Very Good Place--Not Great BBQ

By chaspower |

Located in Doral and with a a visit if you are nearby. We liked the rustic yet buttoned up western look. Service was friendly and helpful. Note that this is NOT a classic BBQ joint. You won't be reminded of Memphis or Austin or Kansas City. But you get a lot of good food at a reasonable price and it will be a version of 'cue that is consistent across everything we had. New Doral is slick, upscale. Shorty's has been there for awhile and feels real even if its relationship to classic BBQ is a bit loose. And that concern stated, we would go back happily.

Good bbq but still dirty

By Clare P |

My family has been going to Shortys for over 40 years. Food is very consistent. I think at this point the only way to get the place clean is to torch it (again!!) or sand blast it.

It’s not what it usted to be

By Isabel D |

This used to be my favorite bbq place in Miami, now the quality has gone down. The corn is over cooked , as well as its meats. I guess it’s time to start looking for another BBQ place.

Excellent Ribs!!

By emmittOttawaOn |

My wife and I have never seen so much food coming out of such a small kitchen in our lives. OMG, what production. As a notice, I only saw pop served in paper cups, beer in plastic cups, some sides served in styrofoam plates, paper towels at the tables and it is shared seating. The only alcohol served is beer, no wine or liquor. Ribs were excellent, corn looked awesome and coleslaw was very good! My wife had a cheeseburger and it was okay. Gaby served us very well!! An excellent BBQ place and if you get by the simplicity, you’ll thoroughly enjoy your meal. Great experience!

Boiled brisket

By Joseph L |

I have been a loyal customer for the last 25 yrs. growing up in miami Shortys has been an establishment. For the last couple of years it’s unfortunate to see how the quality of food has deteriorated. The brisket taste like its been boiled and is served. No taste at all and is very chewy.. thank goodness for Shorty’s quick and efficient servers. Quality must get better on the food or i will never return

Excellent BBQ for the whole family

By Whatsfordinner9 |

Made a stop at Shorty’s as every time I passed the place people were milling about and cars were always lined up for take out. Well I can vouch for Shorty’s having some excellent BBQ. I had the baby back ribs and chicken special for lunch. For connoisseur’s of BBQ that like the “bark” on BBQ I can tell you that you’ll get that with many of your ribs. Done just right and sweet and tangy. Service was likewise excellent!! I highly recommend that if you like BBQ you put this high on your places to visit while in the Miami / Dadeland area!!

Excelllent food

By Frank O |

What a great restaurant. Great barbecue. The ribs were amazing. I also had the brisket sandwich. No wait for Lunch but very popular on weekends. Worth the wait.

Very tasty food!

By Silvinho D |

The place is a typical bbq house. Looks like a small city restaurant. All the appetizers are great! Onions ring, buffalo wings, and the fries. The corn on the cob with butter is delicious. The main meal and the best of all are the ribs! Superb!

Shorty's

By Linda T |

Been going there since I was a kid. The menu has expanded which is good, even though the one from the 60's was just fine. Really good bbq! The best sweet tea, with free refills, and great key lime pie! A must stop when ever I'm in Miami!

A Must Whenever I'm In Miami

By dmff |

Great Food, Simple Décor, Friendly Staff. I'm from Chicago and we have plenty BBQ places, but this place on Dixie Highway is my spot. This last visit was after a weekend in Havana.

Great BBQ

By Donna M |

We stopped in while traveling thru town. Great BBQ. Portions were HUGE. Slow ordering, but worth the wait. Will visit again next time in town.

Delicious bbq! Went with my whole family

By CKarenM |

Went with my family (party of 8) and place was nice and food was really tasty. Went after a long day at Dolphin Mall, to eat and relax. We come every year (we are out of towners). Service and food are great!

Horrible service, food fair

By Judy and Clarence B. |

We were not impressed with the service or the food. The ribs were tough and the baked beans were out of the can. The waiter “Jorge” was very rude and 3 of the 5 orders were incorrect. He also made a comment trying to rush us to order to take care of customers who were leaving. We were very disappointed with the service and the food. Find somewhere else to eat.

Old over cooked ribs and chicken

By Andrea C |

This place is our go to place for bbq. Today the ribs were obviously leftovers and tough. We had to send them back. Then we got the usual good ribs! The same with the chicken beasts. What are they trying to pull? Onion rings, slaw, fries, and sauces were good. Service was attentive.

Not to be missed

By yodles |

My husband and I have been going to Shorty's since 1971! That right there should tell you something about how we feel about Shorty's. Great ribs and BBQ chicken but the highlight is how they prepare the corn drowning in butter. Love this place.

Great Place to get BBQ

By marymM9165OU |

This was our family first visit to this restaurant and food was very good. Waiter was great. The price for the meal to portion size was good. Meet some great people sitting next to us.

Good food, good customer service

By Albert |

It's a good place to have a quick dinner, their ribs are the best in town if you like American style. Waiter was very kind, he tried his best to speak Spanish when the custumers needed it, even when obviously he struggled with it. It was nice to find a multicultural place with families with children, grandparents etc. In summary, if you don't wanna dress up and get good food, go there. You will not regret it.

In business 65 years for a reason

By Larry B |

I read that Shorty’s has been in business for 65 years...that’s all I needed to see. Ya’ll don’t need any reviews past BUT...the corn on the cob has has has to be cooked in melted butter!!! Baked beans done the right way with pork added to ‘em. Pulled pork was outstanding. That’s how a 4 or 5 star restaurant closes and a place stays open and expands over 65 years.

great BBQ great value YUM

By brianbalk |

Several locations. Awesome ribs, pulled pork, and pork steaks! Will never get tired of eating here. And Edna, our server, was awesome too.

Quick lunch

By Randy H |

Was down for a convention in town and saw the listing on TA and thought I’d give it a shot. Special on Monday we’re the baby backs. Ordered some onion rings and they were fresh and great. Loved the dipping sauce. Baby backs were excellent! Come without sauce so you can add as you prefer. Had a great taste w/o sauce but their barbecue sauce is good as well. French fries were nothing spectacular but their Cole slaw was above average. Definitely a place I would love to visit again. Friends had pork sandwich and were very pleased as well.

Long-Time Customer But Not Happy

By SilverStar092 |

On our latest visit to Miami we ordered takeout from Shorty's and were not pleased. My baby back ribs had been cooked too long and part of our order was missing when we got to the hotel. All of this after the person manning the takeout window could not find one of our family's two orders and had to have it put together on the fly. Normally I rate Shorty's "five" but this visit came up way short (no pun intended).

Great BBQ everything else - not so much

By Companion401508 |

My boyfriend and I ate lunch at Shorty's on 7/2/23. We had pulled pork, fries, slaw and a cheeseburger. The food was excellent which is why I'm rating it as average. The service, however, was horrible. It was the worst service, I' ve experience in quite a while. Our waitress was slow and had a general bad attitude. My boyfriend went to the restroom and advised me to not go there because it was so dirty. Maybe "to go" food is the way to go because we saw many customers come in and pick up food. Maybe we went on a bad day. I hope so because the BBQ was great!

Shorty's is a no-frills, down-home barbeque joint. No muss, no fuss, paper towels for napkins and hard wooden bench seating at long tables. They make no pretense to be anything else, so they're consistent and give you no surprises. The food is not fantastic, but pretty good in its genre. Service is friendly (though of course rather minimal), and the prices are fair considering both the place/food and the fact that they're usually very busy. No reason to avoid it, and it's such a longstanding part of the Miami food scene that there's every reason to go at least once. You may find yourself going back more often than you would have thought!

Florida style BBQ

By Thomas R |

Yes Florida has its own barbecue style and if you want to see it if you want to taste it go to Shorty's the flavors there they have their own sauce it's remarkable you need to try it don't leave there without trying it. We've been loving this place for years went there again last night can't wait to go back

good place

By spectrum72 |

They have good portions and good prices. I wish they offered just a bit more variety of sides. I like to eat my meat with things other than just cole slaw and fries.

Delicious, and value for money

By Brian T |

The meat melts off of the bone for the ribs and the brisket is flavorful. Staff is friendly and courteous. The value for the money spent is well worth the visit.

Crazy about ribs!!

By Andres M |

Amazingly fast customer service, mouthwatering food, great attention!! Great place to bring you family and friends after a long day or to just hang out! Servers are kind and friendly.

Great ribs!

By Gonzalo Q |

Great typical american bbq! Corn on the cob and a full rack of ribs and lemonade (free refills) for $26! Amazing experience, will highly recommend!!

Absolutely the worst food I've ever had…EVER.

By Gorege G |

So….i went here with my husband and we ordered the fried okra and beef sandwich. I chose this place since we were on vacation and it had good reviews.BAD IDEA… hair in sandwich and it looked like the plates were being re-used with out sanitation since there was left over sauce and other bits of old food on the plate already which i had not used. The sandwich was soggy and smelled funky. Would not recommend…

Best BBQ Anywhere

By Daveed S |

I grew up on Shorty's and I still love it. The chicken is tender and cooked perfectly. The coleslaw is famous, and don't miss the corn on the cob. Their special bbq sauce that they serve warm (and sell by the bottle) makes it all GREAT.

A Miami Institution

By TheBestOnly_13 |

A local favorite a must-go for tourists.Without a doubt the best BBQ in South Florida. My family and I are frequent patrons for eat-in and take out. They also do catering. Ribs are by far the best. They also have BBQ Brisket but it is a bit overcooked and lean to really be compared to a succulent Texas Brisket.

Bbq Time

Shortys BBQ Restaurant- Pinecrest FL

By HugsFromSweetPea |

Best BBQ around: ribs, brisket, chicken can’t be matched. Lunch and dinner combos with huge portions. BBQ beans and corn and garlic bread and slaw. Been in same location at least 40 years. You can get uber delivery if you don’t want to drive there. Country ambiance where you sit on long tables and can meet your neighbors. Excellent!

Shorty's stands tall.

By Anthony T |

This is some of the best BBQ I've had outside of Texas! Tasty, good portions, friendly staff and down home atmosphere makes for an enjoyable experience.

The place for Southern BBQ

By quadboss |

You gotta visit the "original" Shorty's to really suck in the Shorty's experience. The food is excellent, the venue an experience and our server (SADE) was amazing.

Very disappointing and overrated

By sarveets |

Bbq was very disappointing. I ordered the half chicken which was very bland and dry. The brisket was not tender and my favourite item was the coleslaw. On a good note great atmosphere andhuge portions

Good value

By mwooduk |

Came here with my husband for Sunday lunch, and for about 11 bucks I got a pork plate that had two huge porkchops on it, a massive baked potato, coleslaw and garlic bread, it fed me for three meals. Such good value. Service was great and I loved the homemade barbecue sauce.

great BBQ

By vpassalacqua |

The lunch special are great chicken ribs or pork all served with 2 sides the onion rings and corn are extra but worth it

The best corn on the cob ever!

By Ramon M |

Every time that I am in Miami I have to go to Shorty's. It's fantastic. They has the best corn on the cob ever! My favorite BBQ is the Shorty´s Spare Ribs. It's smoked on perfect balance, not too much that's only feel smoke taste. The sides are all goods, there is no way to do a mistaked choise. The service is fast and the place is very casual, fun to go in family.

A real shame.

By danxwilkinson1 |

I visited Shorty’s as I have done on many previous occasions, with a couple of colleagues last night. It was one of my colleagues first visits, and we had spent some time describing how great the place is to him. As usual, the food didn’t disappoint. The ribs were awesome, as was the brisket. In fact, the whole experience was as great as it always is right until we came to pay. We split the cheque three ways and added a not unreasonable tip. I then asked for a copy of the receipt from our waitress, which I can’t imagine is unusual, and was told that the cheque was closed out now and they didn’t have a copy. We had been presented with the cheque only minutes earlier so I asked again for a copy. At this point I was presented with the bin and told to look for it myself! Unbelievably rude! I spoke briefly with the manager about it and he said he’d have a word. This has left a very bitter taste to what was until that moment, another enjoyable Shorty’s experience. A real shame.

good 'cue

By Diane A |

very good barbecue, mediocre french fries, sublime fried green tomatoes. good atmosphere...would return for selective dished

You don’t have to go to Texas for good BBQ.

By blackfootcamp |

BBQ is not my food of preference but we were vacationing with my brother and his wife and his wife loves BBQ. So it was inevitable that we would wind up at Shorty’s because they’re disputed to have the best BBQ in Miami. The sign said it has been there for awhile and the interior of the place reminds you of a big, old buckboard feeding station. There were no individual tables but long picnic style tables and benches. There were waiters and waitresses and a hostess who took took to your bench. It was uber casual. We finally settled on a pulled pork sandwich with fries and three orders of brisket with fries. My wife ordered an appetizer of fried green tomatoes, which were outstanding. When the orders came they were enormous, hot and flavorful. They were actually all you could have imagined. I’ll never drive to Texas again.

Bbq dinner

By baldilon |

Went out with all the crew, in laws and all, we all have fond memories of Shorty’s BBQ, my wife and I ordered the brisket and ribs plate, the ribs were delicious just like we remembered, the brisket fell really short, was dry and tough just pure let down. At least you know they have good ribs, really wanted juicy soft brisket.

Not What It Used To Be

By Ariel0320 |

Have been going to Shortys for many years…we were back in Miami and went here for lunch. Ordered a quarter chicken. Received the tiniest piece of chicken ever and it was cold. Service was good and lunch was $50 ! For two. My husband had a sandwich. Not in a hurry to go back.

Lunch

Love this place! Great atmosphere, food was delicious especially the ‘brisket’ hubby’s and I shared a brisket, plenty for two people, friendly staff. Def be returning!

Awesome Food, Awesomest Server

By Dan D |

Shortys is a Miami favorite, and you won't find better ribs or pulled pork. However, this last visit, one of many, reminded me of how great the staff is. Our server, Dimitri, was nothing less than wonderful, and I'd recommend this place to other restaurateurs to see just how a proper casual service can be done.

I was so hoping....

By Cheryl |

I did a baby back comparison with another restaurant. I was a bit disappointed with shorty’s. The meat didn’t fall off the bone, and was smothered in sauce which made me question what are they trying to hide. The sides were not worth having. I would not go back except my daughter has told me that it’s the brisket! I will try again.

Amazing MacNCheese

By Dan-Aubrey |

Nice family style bbq place with friendly staff who want to see you eat like a king. Had the Rib lunch special Half rack of ribs, fries, coleslaw and Texas toast (garlic bread) $10.99 Side of baked beans $2.79 and MacNCheese $4.99 that was amazing! Sweet BBQ sauce was awesome. Didn’t care for the Smokey BBQ sauce, they served it in a Parmesan cheese shaker 🤷‍♂️ They finish you off with a little cup of water to wash your fingers of the sweet BbQ sauce. Would come back here if I were in the area.

The Food at Shorty's Was Vile

By Notta V |

I love BBQ. Whether it is Texas style brisket, KC or Memphis ribs or Carolina pulled pork, I have tried and love them all. I've been coming down to Miami since I was a kid but never made it down to South Miami to check out Shorty's. Well, I wish I hadn't. Expectations were high when I saw that great old neon sign and was greeted warmly by the staff and immediately seated.Things soon took a sharp turn for the worse. The food here is vile. Straight off the Sysco truck garbage. Rubbery slimy chicken with a chemical aftertaste. A half-rack of swiney tasting baby backs, nauseatingly gamy. Arby's quality roast beef masquerading as brisket. Frozen french fries. A stale brick of "garlic bread". At least the iced Tea was drinkable. If you are in the mood for some serious, REAL down home "meat and two sides" Southern BBQ strike Shorty's off your list. This place is strictly for the Applebees/TGIF crowd.

Always great

By TraviewBud |

The BBQ is great and has always been great. Definatley a place to recommend. Quite rustic. The spare ribs and baby back ribs are a must.

Great in everything

By Milton Kanno |

There are no words tô describe the taste of ribs in this place. Simply amazing. The place is rustic and a tipycal old school texan bar with simple food. Excelent in every detail. The corn as entree is an excelent choice as well. I love this place.

Awesome Food & Service

By BRen0735 |

Visited here for the first time while passing through Miami. We had found it on TripAdvisor, and saw that the reviews were positive, so figured we would check it out. The food and service did NOT let us down!! I tried the brisket - which was fantastic - and my fiancé had the bbq chicken. Both were amazing, and the young gentleman who served us (I wish I could remember his name) was awesome. Also, we were completely surprised at how quick the food was to bring out after ordering as well. We really enjoyed our overall experience here, and would definitely come back!

Great choice...

By D Young |

My wife wanted BBQ food for dinner, so Shorty's it was. It was a great choice. The Ribs were perfect and special BBQ sauce was oh so good! The service was efficient and courteous. We're going back for more. Shorty's also honors military discount.... We got our monies worth!

Shorten

By ABC |

Seen better days. The steak was bland and hard. The ribs, just ok. Didn’t bring the beans order. Fries were just garbage, inedible. The waitress tried, but didn’t understand the drink choice 3 times. When we left, the cook was rude with sarcasm. If you don’t want to serve customers pats 9 pm, simply close the kitchen. How dare you serve trash to patrons and charge $66. Never again! Disgusting.

Ain’t what it used to be.

By alanirwin01 |

Sill good but not as good as before. Been going there forever. Jumbo pork sandwich was very dry and requires a drowning in their delicious house bbq sauce. Seems like no more hours long smoked bbq system. Times are changing 😱

THE SMOKEHOUSE in Miami

By Betoagg |

This is an authentic smokehouse. Everything is superb: corn-on-a-cob, corn bread, brisket, chicken wings, and the wolrd champion Baby Back Ribs. There are excellent combos that allow you to share and taste different meats. There are choices of local and international beers, by glass or pitcher. The ambiance is again that of typical smokehouse long tables with benches.

Fun time dining on picnic tables

By Daro2013 |

We have had lunch here when we travel from Broward to attend Fairchild Gardens and each time marvel about the wonderful barbeque cuisine. It is the original Shorty's and our favorite. You dine at long picnic tables mixed with other diners. I love the chicken but most of our friends select the ribs whether regular or baby back and your side can be French fries, potato, corn, , buttered garlic bread, and their famous slaw. Brisket is also another option. The servers are friendly and accommodating. Extra sauce is on the table. For old style casual barbecue dining, this spot is for you. Prices are reasonable and food plentiful.

Sad News ... Shorty’s BBQ of yesteryear is gone !

By gmankw |

Visited my all time favorite BBQ ... Shorty’s BBQ that I’ve been frequenting since the 1970’s .. never disappointed always satisfied... took friends on the way back to Key West and was sadly disappointed on every front ... service , ordering , attitude , portions , quality .. so so sad !!! Asked a Miami friend and was told it’s not the same since Covid ... was a very disappointing experience... Other patrons waited patiently and left after sitting 10 minutes with no attention.. staff standing around and literally ignoring BBQ starving customers.. Asked a few other Miami friends and luckily there’s a new joint that has hit a “Home Run” amongst the BBQ loving crowd ... Hometown BBQ ... already have included this new find in my next trip to the mainland ... hope Shorty’s gets back in the game ... would be a shame to no longer visit this one time amazing landmark !!! 🐷

Getaway

By Sergiosr1949 |

My wife and I were looking for a place to eat and ran into this place. We were going to another restaurant and it was so busy we left. Ended up at Shortys and it was a plesebt surprise. Ribs and chicken were great. Briscut was a little tough but tasted good. WIt staff was fantastic and very tentative. Go there and enjoy your dinner. You wont be sorry.

Looking for ribs an BBQ

By Dionisio Ismael M |

A place with well cared recipes for ribs. The softest meat ever. Briskets were good but not spectacular. The place is not elegant but a very good environment for a BBQ experience. Willing to repeat.

Been going since 91

By Gil Ricardo S |

Excellent typical American restaurant, enjoy the corn on the cob, whole corn in a bowl with butter and order the Ribs with colechau, wonderful.

Very Good Bbq and Excellent Service

By stevco874 |

Was here on a business trip and while driving by thought it sure does look like an old-time barbecue place so I decided to stop in. I wasn't disappointed, decided to have ribs and brisket which were both fantastic. My server, I wish I'd gotten his name, was fantastic, very attentive and knowledgeable. If you like good barbecue, I don't think you'll be disappointed here!

Woops

By Bradley C |

We eat here probably 10 times a year. Mostly the chicken and the sliced pork. And we'll be back for that. Tonight though we ordered baby back ribs. We've eaten them here in the past and in the past they were fall off the bone delicious. Not tonight. The first ribs they delivered you couldn't cut with a knife. The replacement ribs were definitely reheated. They scored the ribs to allow the heat to get through the meat and then covered the scoring by slapping on a ton of bar-b-Que sauce. Not very tasty but we were hungry and I never send anything back twice in any restaurant. Management didn't care tonight!

This is not Texas bbq please remove that from the menu

By Alvaro N |

So I’m outta houston and I love bbq but to be honest this just isn’t it at all…. Food was sub par and then they even requested a large tip are you guys serious ????? Food was so bad I didn’t eat it took most of it home, the brisket was not smoked maybe oven made if that cause there was no actual flavor or smoke ring didn’t pull apart and it should it was chewy!!! Anywho not to throw shade but I went to shivers and had way better bbq first and last time at shortys…burnt ends sucked not as bad as the brisket but still not good .

Not a tourist trap

By Howard K |

This is a local favorite. Burned down several times but now has AC and is stable. My favorite is a pulled pork sandwich. Wait, my favorite is the corn on the cob. This place is way not fancy. Bench seating. And don’t forget the “magic disappearing sauce”

Excellent BBQ and fast service

By indiana b |

Very good BBQ place with a wide variety of meals. I had a rack of ribs and my wife had a brisket dinner. Both were served quickly by a friendly staff. Prices were reasonable for the portions and quality of the meal. We would go there again next time we are in town.

AMAZING RIBS!!!

By Martha Patricia de Bruxelles |

Love this place, authentic American food, great service, traditional friendly service and lots to offer. I will definitely visit again if in the area.

Yes. Particularly in the time of Covid-19

By LivingstonAve |

Eat in, take out or use their delivery. Cannot beat these ribs and fries. The onion rings will vary. Ask for them well done, or at home, get your broiler going. Oh yes, the beans are just fine. The cole slaw is on the too much vinegar side, and the portions are too small, but I get it every time. Eating inside the restaurant is fun, though these days who knows. All in all, Shorty's is a no-doubter.

Great family atmosphere, tasty food, good price!

By Wagner S |

We went to Shorty's on the last day of our visit to Miami, and now I wish we had gone earlier. The staff was quite friendly and quite nice with the kids, which gave them brownie points straight away. He helped us with portion sizes to make sure we've got the right amount of food. We choose some kid's meals for the kids, which was good. But the star of the day was the baby pork ribs that we've got, cooked to perfection, falling off the bones, with and golden brown outside, thanks to a tasty bbq sauce. It came with fries, salad, coleslaw and a slice of garlic bread - so it was perfect for two people. The key lime pie that I've got for dessert was also fantastic. Sweet and sour like the pie my mum would do. And that is a big acomplishment! The place decoration felt like an western style saloon, quite rustic but that the kids loved. Music wasn't too loud, so we could all chat, which was also a bonus. So if you're looking for a family friendly with great atmosphere and generous, tasty portions, you will find yourself at home at Shorty's.

No wood smoke flavor

By Connector00734388493 |

They do not smoke their food like tbey use too. I use to go to shortys ever since the 1960s, the taste of the food has gone down hill. Shortys meats had a true hickory smoke flavor. Corn was always sweet and juicy. Now meat taste blah, dry and no smoke flavor. Corn is blah dry and not sweet. Since shorty sold restaurant to a company it has gone down hill. I miss the old days!

Delicious food in a simple place

By Ricardo P |

One of the best ribs and corn on the cob that I have eat on my life. It is simple and fast and really really delicious. Try the Full rack and one corn on the cob for each and you can share the plate if you are in three or four

Finger licking

By Andrea L |

It was al delicious!!! A great family environment and kids had a great time! The pulled pork was delicious and the corn AMAZING!

Delicious lunch

By nickamc80 |

We had pulled bbq pork sandwiches, corn, slaw and French fries for lunch. Pulled BBQ Pork sandwich was delicious with just the right amount of sauce. Free parking and walking distance to Metro. Only negative- server did not ask if we wanted drink refills. Overall- great lunch spot with reasonable prices. ($32 for two)

Best Brisket in town

Skip the middle man and put the ribs directly in the toilet

By Trip19725831928 |

Ribs are absolute trash. They were rubbery and not palatable. I will never eat here again. Gross. I’m worried I’ll get food born illness from this garbage. Eat at your own risk.

Dinner

By Valentina MC |

I really love Shorty's, what else can I say. Best ribs in town. Love their coleslaw. Corn is perfect. Fries, hmmmmmm. The only problem is that there's no buffalo sauce for the chicken wings. Otherwise, all perfect! And I love the casual environment, I feel at home. Staff is always amazing. One of my favorite places!!

Maybe in Florida this is 4 but anywhere else a 1/5

By Globe Trotter |

Not good bbq - brisket and chicken flavorless and dry - I think it’s only popular because the outside curb appeal of the place - it looks very country western but doesn’t mean the Tennessee Texas or Missouri standards

A very good traditional BBQ experience in the heart of Miami

By Pedro Mejia Bernal |

The place is in a very good location, there is a lot of parking soots, the staff is very nice, the quantity of the food is very very good, the quality of the food is outstanding, the prices are average, the place could be a little more cleaner, the experience overall very good, would definitely still come back and recommend to go

Eating at Shorty"s for years

By catmanbruce |

I have been eating at Shorty"s since attending the Univ of Miami in the 60's. Food has always been consistent. I love the ribs and also the pork plate. Don't miss the corn on the cobb and especially the cole slaw. Plenty of paper towels there for saucey fingers.

Nice meat n eat

By Katherine R |

Great greet fabulous staff good atmosphere we had ribs n chicken awesome and bbq chicken bit dry sadly. Would go again. Good family or friends place

Not like it used to be

By JAVIER G |

This is not the Shorty's I used to know and enjoyed. The service was good, the food was not that great. The fried okra was and so were the French Fries and slaw, however, the baby back was overcooked and tough. Only ate a few and took the rest for my dogs at home. I will never visit again. Expensive for what you are getting. I am disappointed.

Country comfort food

By bim55 |

I made a quick stop for dinner and found a pretty decent beef and chicken combo plate. The Cole slaw as well as the BBQ beans were really outstanding and the extra BBQ sauce made the meat much better than it was dry. I found the long tables folksy but a little bit uncomfortable like a picnic table as that is exactly what it is. But the service was quick and my plate came out within a few minutes, so it's not really a problem with the picnic table seating. You'll be on and out in no time and with a good meal at a great value.

Okay food, good service

By Michael T |

This place has been in business for several decades. The food is okay (some dishes are dry like the charbroiled chicken salad and the ribs). The service is good and it is a place to visit once.

Blah bbq

By Dolfanlp13 |

I always feel that the meal should be better than it is. Chicken is tasteless and ribs too fatty. I would recommend Sonny’s as a better choice if you like bbq

Brisket Not Good This Time

By Oldfart3000 |

I have been going to Shorty’s since 1978. The brisket was always my choice because it was excellent. Late in December I, my son and two of my grandchildren went to Shorty’s for s late lunch. The kids all had pulled pork which was very good. I however, ordered a brisket sandwich. The meat was tough, and chewy with zero flavor, it reminded me of an Arby’s sandwich I had years ago. When I payed the bill the cashier asked how the meal was and I told the brisket was not good she smiled and ignored me.

While visiting Miami you need SHORTYS BBQ

By Rommelh1305 |

While visiting Miami you need to schedule a stop at one of the best bbq restaurants. We have been eating at Shortys bbq restaurant in the Dadeland area ever since I can remember. The bbq chicken is super amazing but our favorite is the pulled pork sandwich. It is to die for. Plus you gotta love the ton of crinkly fries that come with the sandwich. Not to mention all the extra bbq sauce, don’t tell them I use the rest at home. Haha 😆 we love this restaurant especially the new look as it has recently been renovated. You guys did awesome the place looks great , now if we can get back to normal. Thank you for those amazing pulled pork sandwiches!! The bread is always fresh & meat just melts in your mouth. We ordered 1 for my daughter on the way back up north to take with us . It’s only a skip n a jump so she enjoyed the sandwich so much as soon as we got home. • The Greatest food and even Greatest service!!! 👍👍👍💯🏆🏆🏆 Thank You & keep up the awesome work especially those happy guys gals/cooks at the front you’re awesome!!!

Great Lunch Specials

By mwooduk |

Came with a friend today and got two lunch specials and a meal to take home for my hubby all for $25! The meals are huge and the pork chop lunch plate is enough for two meals for me. Great value. Good service today by Jill.

Great food - great prices

By Mrs_G-L |

We saw Shorty's as we drove past quite by chance - what a great find. Chicken, ribs, pulled pork, fries all great. Huge portions as you come to expect in the USA, that the meal fed us for 3 days. Great value, sitting is at benches so not fine dining, but the food is worth every penny. Will be back next time we visit Miami

The best!!

Great Ribs; Good Service

By jamesprich |

Have been any number of times over the years and after our grandkids spent spent a day at the mall, took them for some BBQ as they're out of town. The quality of food was wonderful and unchanged in many years--always good.

Amazing food

By janshf |

Found this by chance when stopping at the station. Nothing fancy just great tasting food. As we couldn’t resist going back a second time we tried the chicken, ribs and pulled pork. All were delicious, good size helpings and the servers were really pleasant and helpful. Just wish we had one in England!

They treat you like you are trying to steal ??? you put the price!

By Katia B |

Do not go to Shorty's BBQ Doral to buy for pick up. Even if you buy a Family meal they will not let you buy two stupid extra meals for your children at home. They actually said that people takes advantage of the price..?????? who said people from Doral cannot pay full price of a meal? I actually had two children at home, . They're policy is like "if you are buying food for a dog please we need to see the dog" Raise your stupid price and sell customers whatever they want. Doral area is not full of cheap people. They should do a research. Corporate office will not care either, they did not offer me a coupon or anything to make me go back to give them a second chance. If you go to Doral go to Famous Dave's, they do have excellent service and awesome bbq ribs. Famous Dave's is only 4 minutes away. Better service, and you can ask for whatever you want.

delivery

I order ribs from postmates and they were raw I had to get in my car and drive all the way down there and the general manger told me I was wrong and that the ribs were just a little undercooked excuse me it was 100 raw pink ribs! rudest manger I have ever had to talk to in my life.

Best BBQ in South Florida!

By Mike T |

Shorty's is a South Florida institution. The BBQ is outstanding. They don't serve a bad dish. You can't go wrong with the chicken, ribs, sandwiches - all excellent. The corn-on-the-cob - great. Both the BBQ sauces are excellent. You get a lot of food for a good price. You can download great coupons from their website. The atmosphere is rustic, like a BBQ place should be.

Rushed assembly line sort of feel

By Scott W |

Went back here for the first time in years. It was a Sunday so fairly busy. We were lucky enough to get a parking space and had an acceptable wait for our table. While this is an iconic place, I feel as if they weren't at their best when we were there. The BBQ beef brisket was cold and dry with not much flavor. Their bbq sauce helped a bit. Server was busy and got a number of our orders wrong but cheerfully fixed them. The last time I was here we tried the pulled pork and were also disappointed. The people in our party that had ribs seemed to enjoy them. I guess I will try them out next time.

Good BarBQ place!

By Martalina P |

Delicious Bar-BQ ribs. Large portions reasonably priced. Consistent quality. Service is neither bad or excellent, Average I guess. The decor is typical and well maintained. Always clean. Love the BBQ sauce.

Super cheap

By Curious14543374428 |

I went to a large union event at Tropical park. I think there must have been 600 people at the event. I wanted to take my food home so I asked for another plate to cover my food but the lady said no because the plates were covered. Then I asked her to let me have a piece of aluminum foil. They had those large commercial size aluminum foil rolls and she acted as if I had insulted her. She said no. She was so very rude. Can you imagine with all the money they made with that one event the lady refused to give me a 10 in piece of aluminum foil? Shortys is not what is used to be. Definitely asking the union to not ever use them again for catering. Horrible.

I ordered it thru ubor eats

I love bbq, I am from the Carolinas. If theres anything i know.. its bbq. And I've been here close to 4 months and I've ate a lot of food, however this is the best food I've eaten since I arrived. Huge pulled pork sandwich large amount of fries and made sure I had plenty of sauce so I dont run out and the hush puppies were great. I had beans and slaw as a side and it was just as good. It was nice to have a little bit of home with me. Highly recommend.
