Shorty's has been an institution in Miami for ages although it has gone through a few changes in ownership. The fries and cole slaw have always been great but the meat, to me, isn't as good as it used to be. Don't get me wrong, its very acceptable and flavorful but not the best anymore.

Always you get what you are looking for, good food ,friendly service ,I love the food from Shorty's ,

Went to order take out ,no one at counter when this lady finally showed up she appeared to be bothered and could not be any slower. Bad service!

Always come here at least twice whenever on holiday here. It's a fast, efficient no frills place which does BBQ amazingly well. The baby back ribs and the fried green tomatoes are delicious. Service always the best, plenty of napkins, you eat on disposable plates, tubs to wash your hands in, comfy bench seating, good food at reasonable prices -what more could you want for a traditional all American BBQ meal? Looks like Miami has grown up around this place and the walls are a testament to its history. A great feed, always satisfying.

Ribs are great, corn on the cob is also great. Clean and friendly. Very cozy place to have either lunch or dinner. Staff is friendly and willing to help. Doggy provided to take bones to your best friend is very good idea. Must visit in order to have very good ribs.

You don't think of Miami when you think barbecue, but they have a nice variety of smoked meats available on plates or sandwiches. Very casual atmosphere and good service.

I have known Shorty for a long time since I came to this city 28 years ago. They still provide good food and services and most important prices maintain the same range. Thanks for existing in my neighborhood. Rafa is an excellent person and has good communication and services skill!! Young guy goes ahead.

We always visit Shorty's when staying in Miami because we stay at the hotel right behind it, so it is convenient, but the food is also amazing! Great BBQ and it won't hurt your wallet either!

Food was good and reasonably priced. Service was very good. The atmosphere was also enjoyable. Parking was easy as well. Would recommend if you like bbq

Went for dinner last night. The service and the food were very good. The beef brisket plate is excellent as well as the cole slaw and corn on the cob.

This eatery was walking distance from the hotel. The food was very good, as was the service. We enjoyed it so much we went to another Shorty's in Zephyrhills and they even had a salad bar.

Good place and food but there's no free wi-fi! Negative point ever!!! Prices are ok and food also. The waitress Gigi is very kind.

Tried this as it close to our hotel. The food was fabulous and thd service fast and with a smile. Our server, Maria S, was friendly and responsive to our requests. The brisket sandwiches were the best we ever had. Savd room for the chocolate cake.

Near the hotel where I was staying. A very traditional type bbq setting, combo sports bar with rustic wood interior, including several stuffed deer heads. The ff's were great, a little crunchy on the outside and soft inside, piping hot. I love bbq, with brisket my favorite. I ordered the brisket plate, and the brisket was the toughest I have ever eaten. I told my waiter, Chris and he promptly replaced it with a new order. The server who brought it said that it was cut the wrong direction. The second order was much more ttender than the first. I would like to try the other meat choices another time. Ice cold beer.

Wasn't great but wasn't awful. We went for a late lunch and the brisket was very dry. The coleslaw was great but my sweet potato was TINY. Service was good and the atmosphere was perfect for a BBQ stop.

We were coming back from the Everglades and decided to explore. We saw the sign for this bar-B-Q and decided to try it. Good choice as the food was excellent. My so had the full baby back dinner, and my daughter and I the baby rack half dinner. The ribs melted in your mouth and the fries were the best I have had in Florida. They came with cold-slaw, and French fries or rice. Even though the restaurant was crowded, the serve was excellen.t

Have been a Shorty's fan for years but this location is not up to standards. Ribs were overcooked, lacks cleanliness and service is not friendly. Definitely not the best choice.

Had dinner here last night. Very good service and very quick despite it being relatively busy. Lots of choice with food and what I had was very good.

Very greasy, overcooked corn, not to my taste at all. Not very clean feeling and tables are shared. There are better BBQ places around, but not this one.

Darn good BarBQ at reasonable prices. Taste great.

Some friends of ours came into town and they asked for Shorty's so we all met up there and sadly it just wasn't what it was even ten years ago. Service was not as good as it used to be, the food was ok, and the order was not correct for the five of us. It took about 10 to 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. There were only four other families eating so it's not like they were swamped. It took another 20 minutes to bring food that was probably sitting under heat lamps for a while. My daughter's chicken strips were last...somehow. My wife's order was wrong, different sandwich than ordered and the wrong potato. My ribs were good but only luke-warm, and I ordered a fried fish platter to go. It never came. I had to get up from the table to go and find our waitress and ask her where it was. She went to the kitchen and said it had been ready but no one took it to the pick up station. The fish was cold but I had had enough so we paid and left. All in all, South Florida has a ways to go to catch up to real southern bbq.

It was really bad experience. They called our name that was in the list and after we were sit . The waitress told that it was a mistake that she was calling another name and we needed left the table. After all and many time of waiting finally we was called again The food was not good and the silverware was dirty.

I went with my sister to Kendall hospital and we decided to go to the CVS pharmacy that is in the same mall that the restaurant is located. While waiting for her medicine to be ready to pick up we decided to have lucn at Shorty's. We ordered the corn in the cob and is was hot and delcicious with a lot of butter. We also had the baby back ribs, sweet potato, and the tasty coleslaw. We ordered tea and also had water. The environment was nice and the young lady who was our server was very nice and professional. We will definitively return to this place. In my opinion this restaurant and the one in Davie are the best.

I've been going to Shorty's ever since I was a kid at their first restaurant on S. Dixie Highway; the food and service was always exceptional; then they opened another restaurant in Davie and I consider their food to be very good to excellent....however, Bird Road location today fell short of the quality of the other restaurants. My pork in my sliced/chunk pork sandwich was dry and served room temperature and the bun was stale and dry. The fries were not fresh out of the fryer either. My coworker ordered fried fish; she said it was bland and dried out. The coleslaw which has a totally different taste in Davie and s. Dixie highway is great; this coleslaw had a tart off taste. I was starved and short on time so ate the food. About 6 hours after meal i experience horrific transverse colon gas while driving, not sure if related to last meal, but sure is coincidental.

Since we were loyal customers of Shorty's on Dixie Hwy for 50 years (until they changed the way they cut their beef for the sandwiches) we tried this one. What a HORRIBLE place to eat. We should have walked out when we were not acknowledged as we came in, had to ask for someone to wait on us. Beef Sandwich, after one bite, was not touched. Quality of meat very poor and sliced in slabs. Expensive too.

Was looking forward to a good barbecue, but didn't find it here. We had the brisket, dry and not very tasty, ribs, dry and chicken not bad. Service was OK, but could have been more attentive. Not likely to go back.

Best barbque in miami...no wonder they have been in business for 64 years. I had the beef barbque sandwich which came with a ton of fries ...delicious...i have had their baby back ribs before and loved them, always great food and wonderful service

First things first, we were seated promptly and our waiter came with the menus pretty quick. I think the prices were great, however... the food had no flavor and I felt extremely sick after leaving the restaurant. I went to the location by FIU just to clarify. I first ordered two chicken breast which were sooooo hard and bland in flavor. I doused the chicken with salt pepper and bbq sauce in hopes of some flavor and moisture but that did not help. I believe the chicken was previously cooked and just heated up (which would explain my severe stomach ache). I then decided to order a chicken sandwich with bacon and cheese. The chef plated the tomato, onion and lettuce separately which I appreciate. But the onion was old and the bread on the sandwich was stiff and stale. The fries weren’t crispy, almost pale in color as if they were barely cooked and the lemonade was wayyyyy too sugary. I did really enjoy the coleslaw and that, alongside a speedy service, was this restaurants only saving grace. I’m disappointed tremendously, I would not come to this restaurant again.

we were very disappointed in our meal. Food was not very good. I had to reorder twice but what I had order was not available. My husbands BBQ was very dry.

I just loved the ribs, and sandwiches have unique taste.

We enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant. My husband had the brisket dinner, very moist meat with just a touch of bark. The coleslaw that came with it was very tasty. I had the baby back ribs and I enjoyed the smoky flavor. The sweet tea was superb!! We would return to this restaurant if we are in this neighborhood.

Best Ribs in town. great key lime pie. Very informal. good prices

Shorty’s Bar-B-Q restaurant is a “landmark” restaurant in the Miami area and has been around for many years. We had dined there before, although it has been quite a while. We dined at Shorty’s Bar-B-Q last week in the early evening and I was somewhat disappointed in the food quality. I had the baby back ribs and they were excellent. They were slow cooked and the sauce was very good. The garlic bread was OK. However, after that it was all downhill. The French fries were crinkly cut, frozen potatoes that you would find in the frozen food section at your local grocery store. The cole slaw was a vinegar base slaw that was somewhat tart. My companion had the BBQ Sloppy Joe, which was nothing but cooked ground beef that had been mixed with BBQ sauce and put on a hamburger bun. There was nothing “sloppy” about it, it was very dry. I tried it and the flavor was OK, but nothing that I would order. Because of the time of day, there were only a few dinners and the service was satisfactory. The price of the meals was reasonable.

I eat twice at this restaurant as it was adjacent to my hotel. First I eat there alone and they brought the wrong food. It was already late (9:30) so I didn't want to wait any longer and just eat what was sent, The food was luke warm and not particularly tasty. Whilst I was still sitting there the waitress was sweeping the floors and I assumed they must be closing but I asked and they said no not yet. Really made it unwelcoming experience. The following day I eat there again but this time in a small group of 3 (which became 4). Same waitress who remembered me from the previous day (I'm English so probably helped) and remembered that they'd sent out the wrong food. You'd think therefore that she'd be very careful when taking our order but again one of the dishes came out with the wrong item on it (this time it was only the potato choice rather than the main part of the meal). Food was OK but certainly not something to make me want to return.

good prices, good food. Just good all around. The brisket was my favorite, tender and juicy. Fries are the fat crinkle style which i love, coleslaw tasted homemade, nice selection of bbq sauces at the table. I would go back, especially for the brisket and my son liked the ribs.

I eat BBQ all the time....was in Miami on business and was told to try this place by my cousin. It was terrible. When I visit a BBQ joint I normally will get a combo platter of Beef Brisket and Pulled Pork. I can tell a lot by getting these 2 main staples. The price for this platter was $17!!!! Couldn't believe it. I was on a expense report, so it didn't matter too much. The pork was terrible. It tasted like it was out of a can. The beef brisket was dry and really bad as well. The BBQ Sauces were no good either. Overall...STAY AWAY!!!!

My son and I had lunch here today. Service was good, friendly and quick. My son had the baby back ribs and they were good but I had the sliced pork and found it to be inedible. If you go, get the ribs but otherwise don't bother. We tried the chicken as well and it was ok. Don't stand in line to eat here. I did not complain about the pork, nothing was wrong with it, it just didn't taste good. Some waiters would have noticed an untouched plate ... ours didn't.

The food is very good! The owners should be proud of their food. Sadly our waitress had a bad face and attitude the whole time. Regardless we left a $10 tip (it's a whole day salary in our country) and she came after us to the street to despectively return it to us. Honestly, I'm happy as I have a day's worth on my pocket again, but she was rude on purpose and lost 10 dollars. I recommend eating here but not leaving a tip at all because the servers will look down on you anyways so simply keep the cash.

The best cole slaw ever, great value and great everything. The bcue is awesome and the combo of fries/chicken/slaw/toast is great. Not to mention super fast service.

The food was good but I reserved for a large group in advance and when I got there the food was not ready so I almost lost my pre-paid tour that was scheduled for 7pm.

Close to the Comfort Suites, good selection on menu, to suit quick bite or big hunger. Staff friendly and attentive. Food hot and tasty, good value. Yes it is BBQ menu.

On the last night before departure, I needed a takeout dinner and Shorty's was just around the corner from my hotel. I ordered the beef brisket dinner to take out. The portion was large...enough for 2 average people. Only complaint was that BBQ sauce was the only thing given for dipping and the coleslaw portion was too small. Lots of fries tho

Been coming for years. Love the family specials. Their BBq sauce is the best. Will continue coming here for years to come.

Wonderful. The best corn we've ever eaten in our lives. The rib is also wonderful. On our quick trip to Miami we went twice, and if we had more time here we would have gone even more, we will definitely be back. We were very well attended to by Rafael, who even remembered what we had ordered 5 days ago and was quick to serve us. Thanks friend. Thanks

We come here a lot to have BBQ. Never a wait. Great deals. He food is good. Service is fast. Parking available. This is near the highway.

We were out running some errands and decided to give Shortys a try since good BBQ is hard to find in South Florida. Our waiter was friendly and the brisket was good. Not a tremendously memorable experience but worth checking out if you're nearby.

Ordered BBQ Chicken dinners for lunch, fast service, chicken was cooked perfect. Server was good. We will return

Great BBQ, nice wait staff.

The Brisquet was very good. Great fries and cole slaw. Service kind of slow and empty tables were not cleaned promptly. Good prices.

Called in take/out direct to restaurant. Full dinner order - ready in 17 minutes. Great portions and packaged well. Crazy crowded on Saturday but in/out from separate station / No problem. Definitely be back. Food was very good from brisket, hot wings. Slaw, French fries to cheese cake.

We´ve been going to Shorty´s at least once every couple of months for the last two years. I really love ribs, so we were looking for a place that offered them and found the perfect spot. The atmosphere is really laid back, the food is great and we feel right at home...no complications. Our two kids love the food. Our youngest could eat his body weight in baked beans (sweet) and the oldest just loves their corn on the cob. My husband and I really enjoy their ribs (both the baby back and the spare ribs). Their coleslaw and sweet tea are really good too.

The place is located in the road 40 in Miami. The place haves an average service but the food is good. Their insignia are the BBQ ribs. The piece of a full rack which is big has a price of 19 dollars.

We traveled to Miami from Texas and went to Shorty’s because it’s close to hotel. I had a baked potato and it was fine. However sweet iced tea was not sweet. My husband had BBQ pork and he said it was not hood. It tasted Really like if it was done in oven and not bbq. The restaurant is spacious and has free parking.

Good Southern BBQ in Miami, can't beat that with a baseball bat...!

Tables are small/medium wooden benches and uncomfortable to sit in. The building is old and facilities are out-of-date, in one corner of the restaurant they have a sink for washing dishes out in the open for everyone to see. Service is slow and does not follow-up with you. Only 2 types of Bar-B-Que sauce on the table to chose from (other Bar-B-Que chains have 4+ sauce options). No outdoor sitting. Parking situation is tight. No delivery services available. I saw employees wash dishes in the corner of the restaurant and then later go to serve customers food. I would not return to this location.

Another visit to one of my favourite places. Excellent pitchers of draught beer. Always spoilt for choice of meals. This time Beef Brisket Plate. So much tasty beef! My wife had half rack of baby back ribs. What a happy and enjoyable atmosphere

I have had BBQ from many states and Shorty's was the best. The ribs are fall off the bone, sweet and delicious. They should allow substitution of sides though. Other than that it was great although a bit pricey.

I have been going to Shortys since I was six years old all of my children were raised going there and now my grandchildren go there. Mostly we go to the one on US1 and the one in Broward County on University Love Shortys...

This rustic Bar B Q gives you lots of food for a reasonable price. The staff is friendly and the place is clean.

We had a very nice afternoon at Shorty's. The ribs and coleslaw were good, but the pulled pork had too much BBQ sauce. Good price.

We had the ribs, fries, mac n cheese... and we all loved it, especially that bbq sauce. We were staying at the hotel next door and it took about 10 minutes to get our order.

Walked here from the Comfort Suites Hotel. Was not impressed with the place, didn't seem like the cleanest restaurant. Food was ok, would not make a special trip to eat here again.

I was looking for a convenient place close to the highway for a business lunch. Shorty's Bar-b-que was a block from the Turnpike. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of food for the price, the great taste, the friendly service. I had the chicken and ribs special which came with a heaping of crispy, crinkle fries, coleslaw and garlic Texas toast, plus soda for $15 including tax. I had to take home a half of it. The bonus was that the table was big enough for handling business documents.

We settled on eating and we were pleasantly surprised. Sliced brisket platter, pulled pork sandwich, half chicken, and brisket sandwich eaten. Mac n cheese creamy, sliced brisket thick, garlic toast and fries were good. Mashed potatoes only thing needing improvement. Overall, better than Sonny's.

We had a wonderful lunch here. Pork baby rack with chicken and pulled pork sandwich and with corn. Everything was fine except bun for pulled pork sandwich. It was too basic. Other things was fine! Will be back to Shorty’s soon:)

We were starving after driving all day. This was the 1st BBQ restaurant we found. I was frustrated that they put limes in your sweet tea w/o asking, Yuck! Also, they let you substitute on some sides but not others, argh!!! Food was ok but nothing special, server had meal to us fast but was not fast on refilling drinks. Overall, I would eat there again if I had too but I would rather find somewhere else to spend my $$.

So, if you're in south Florida and you're looking for BBQ, shorty's might satisfy the urge but not completely. The food is a little dry and old tasting. The sides are mediocre. Not my favorite.

Good prices for the food! The Baby Ribs was awesome. We was a group of 4 but they had family offers!!

I'm not a chef or BBQ expert but I ate a lot of Texas BBQ and can't find anything in Florida that is as good. If you've ever been to county line or salt lick near Austin you know what I'm talking about. Shorty's is close. The flavor of the meat is good with no Sauce. The sauce choices are pretty good. The meat on the ribs didn't quite fall off the bones but it was damn close. The brisket was a little tough and not trimmed of fat. The sign says cooked 12 hours which seems a little short by Texas standards. The flavor was very good. Overall it was very good and it's excellent when compared to other Florida BBQ choices.

Stopped here for lunch with a group on a business trip. Lunch was quickly served and was very good, though not anything too special. Large portions and good service.

I used to come here 40 years ago as the only local bbq but stopped because the pork is often tough, the fries undercooked, and the sauce was a vinegar base I stopped liking when Sonny's opened and was better all around. I tried it again this week and the sauce is now very good but the fries are still soggy and the pork largely inedible. . I may try it again in another 40 years but not sooner. It was also quite expensive for barbecue.

Great barbecue-not expensive at all. Probably one of the top 3 BBQ places in South Florida. Well worth it.

Very busy place. It is clear that beer and ribs are the popular items to order. This is a noisy place, parents bring their children and let them run wild. However, the food is the reason to visit. I ordered Baby Back Ribs and Beef Brisket, delicious. Get the Green Tomatoes first. I am sure you will leave happy.

Don’t eat at shortys bbq. I went with a group of friends all of which are Hispanic and black. Our waiter did not take our order. He only brought us the food and ignored us throughout the entire night. We waited 45 minutes for chicken tenders and the chicken I ordered was so dry I began to cough. Another waiter was nice enough to take our order and another brought our drinks. Worst experience ever.

We found this place by chance. Seems it's been around for a long time though! Really tasty bbq ribs, pulled pork and fries. Service was a little slow, but it was very busy when we visited. Would definitely return!

We were in town for a sporting event and walked over to Shorty's from our hotel with a group of 22 parents and kids of all ages. We were able to walk right in the busy place and sit at an enormous long table that accommodated us all! Great start right there. Typical BBQ joint atmosphere with a good wood smoke scent in the air. The waiter didn't blanch when he saw this huge group and even grouped our orders into family checks. The food came out quickly (also a big plus with large groups that include young kids). Everyone enjoyed their meals from the kids' chicken tenders to pulled pork plates, ribs and chicken plates, and brisket all with delicious sides. Pitchers of beer. Big portions and very good quality. Friendly and attentive staff. Gracefully accommodating our large group. Couldn't ask for more.

I came here before. The baby back ribs were so well cooked, easy to pull off the bones, delicious. But in my 2 last visits, I have been very disappointed: I do not know if the ribs are not cooked enough or too fast but it is hard to bite and clean the bones...what a shame!

Just blah, at best. Service wasn't great (couldn't understand ANY of the employees), food wasn't anywhere near the best barbecue we've ever had. Tons of fat, dry otherwise, and the sides were pretty blah as well. Will do if you're in a hurry, or just incredibly hungry, but other than that, I'd choose anywhere else.

Very convenient if you stay at the Comfort Suites Hotel. Had dinner here 8 times during my stay, good ribs and burgers, service could be improved.

My family loves this place, the short ribs are awesome, the best coleslaw ever and the BBQ sauce is also super good. Their prices for to go side orders are great and always ready! Can’t go wrong.

Wonderful option to enjoy with the whole family a very good BBQ. The meat options and side orders are very good, service is fast/accurate and the restaurant environment is very nice.

The food was tasty and priced just right. The atmosphere is good and service was good

I have been to other Shorty's, but this one was just ok. My chicken didn't taste like anything. But mainly I won't go back, because the server, Jenifer was very dry and not friendly. When I went to pay, they cashier was also the same. I asked her a question and she spoke so low I could hear her. I won't be back.

Ordered the pull pork it was dry but saturated with the sweet barbq sauce. The service was fair to poor. The table cleaner who is rumored to be one of the owners was there like he has been for over 20 years wierd.

Spare ribs taste was horrible and the onion rings burned and oily. Chicken dry. The only good thing was the fried green tomatoes.

Not really up to standard - maybe it was an off night.

Shorty’s has been one of our family’s favorite bbq restaurant in Miami, over 20 years. I used to live a few blocks from there and my baby brothers favorite place to eat chicken is Shorty’s. Baby back ribs are moist. The one thing I enjoy is the sauce on the side. Which you control how much or how little you want. Great work Shorty’s. Food is better than I remember!

Shortys was always my absolute favorite restaurant. I no longer live in Miami but I visited last week and was dying for some Shortys ribs and their fabulous creamy coleslaw. I took my friend that's from out of town and has always heard me rave about this place. I couldn't believe that my all time favorite restaurant had changed the quality of their food so drastically. We ordered the meal for two. The chicken seemed under cooked. The ribs tasted like they were boiled. They had no taste and were tough. The coleslaw was very crunchy and not at all the same texture and taste I remember. The meal includes some beef sandwiches and they were also terrible. The only thing edible were the fries. I told the server how bad it all was and how surprised I was that the meats were all so poor in quality. We only took a couple of bites and as hungry as we were, we just couldn't continue eating...it was THAT bad. The server said she would speak to the manager and later came back with another tray of terrible food for us...the same exact food we were complaining about. Made no sense. We paid full price for a meal we did not eat. I took the chicken and tried feeding it to my dog but even she didn't want it. I don't know if they changed owners or management but this is not at all the Shorty's I remember. What a shame.

I'd say this place was just ok, taste was decent but brisket was really dry, no juiciness like any good brisket should, ruining the overall experience. Wings were really dry too, meat stuck to the bones and not juicy at all.

We ate here 2 nights, whilst staying in Miami. Both nights, we ordered for 4 people and received an overwhelming amount of food. All dishes were fresh and tasted great. Service was prompt and attentive. Good value.

The BBQ is OK, juicy ribs (with a little too much charcoal taste) and fine brisket. But having the beer with plastic glasses and pitchers is hard (maybe especially for non-Americans :-), and the atmosphere is lively but also noisy, also the dish-washing traffic does not contribute to a cosy experience. On an Easter Sunday, with no choice, it was completely fine!

Casual atmosphere. Good selection of menu items at reasonable prices. Food was very flavorful and ribs, pork & chicken were very tender. Portions were large. Loved the appetizer plate -- especially fried okra which can feed at least 4 -5 people. Good service too.

Everyone, all 27 of us loved the food. The okra was awesome, the portions were generous, the service was good for the size of our group..

Been going for over 15 years plus, and as usual the ribs, briskets been the best so far in Miami, I suggest the entire menu is good.

Good food, friendly staff ,cozy atmosphere ,always no waiting time for your food, tasteful meat amazing sweet potato

We come here when we want authentic BBQ ... there are not many local places that offer this type of food. We usually have whatever ribs deal they are offering. The Mac and cheese is great . I usually order it for the kids and end up taking a few bites myself.

I have eaten at Shorty's on South Dixie Highway for 25 years but this was my first visit to the 40th Street location. The set-up is nicer with booths AND long picnic tables. Even though the restaurant was about half empty, it took a very long time for our food to arrive. (Generally at the South Dixie Hwy. location, food is served up in 10 minutes.or so. We waited about 25 minutes. My fries were cold and an order of ribs arrived overcooked and dried out. A burger was ordered as a replacement and it took another 20 minutes. Everyone was finished eating when it finally arrived. After requesting our checks, another 10 minutes passed and we finally walked up to the cashier to get them. Otherwise the food was good. Hopefully this was just an off night, but I am sticking with the South Dixie Hwy. location.

After reading some positive reviews, my girlfriend and I decided to try this place out, it seemed to have a good reputation for BBQ in Miami. I cannot understand how people say this place is good? They must not have ever been to places like Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse, or PJ's in Saratoga, or Snow's BBQ in Texas, but even if you haven't had those pleasures, it doesn't take much to recognize this place is TERRIBLE regardless of how cheap it is and how big the portions are. The corn was flavorless, even though it was in a plate of butter it was GROSS. The chicken, and ribs had no flavor absolutely no flavor. The rib sauce is awful.. The brisket was dry, to the point where you would feel sick if you saw this brisket, it was like putting cotton in your mouth. Worst experience ever. Oh yeah, the fries were McCain frozen fries, and I am really not picky when it comes to fries and they were awful. I tried a lot when I went there, so everything consistently disgusted me. I will never go back, even if Shorty's paid me to eat there so I am sure the other things aren't better. I felt gross inside for wasting my time (was only in Miami for 5 days, could have spent that lunch at a good place) and money. Never ever ever again.

Even know your in Miami the food at this place is really good!!! Home cooked and hot e every time you order.

Enjoyed our food experience and great waitress who made us feel comfortable! BabyBack ribs, bbq beans and French fries were excellent!

My husband and I were in the area for the NASCAR race, staying at the Comfort Suites next door. One of the guests staying at the hotel recommended the restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised since we don't eat a lot of spicy food. We had the brisket and it was good, but not spicy.

Shorty's on S.Dixie HWY has been there forever! The city has grown up around it's quaint structure. The menu is strictly simple old, down home b b q sit down fun REAL food. It is a great value and you just can't get better b b q in South Florida. The atmosphere is very informal and again-quaint! The employees are super friendly, service is quick and refreshingly clean. Let your hair down, have a "pop" and enjoy the unique eatery from the past in a friendly and happy environment. You won't be sorry!

We were in the mood for BBQ and Shorty's is our go-to for BBQ. We ordered the usual, pulled pork platters. Loved the pork, but the pork had waaay to much BBQ sauce this time. Portions are generous and service is always fast here. I do recommend this place for BBQ.

We enjoyed our meal. The barbeque was good, not great, but good. We enjoyed the corn, and garlic bread. Also enjoyed the Key Lime pie. The quality of the ribs were decent, their sauce is really good. I've had bbq all over the country, so I have had some of the best there is, and this is middle of the road. If I stayed near there again, I would go, but I wouldn't travel out of my way. I can't describe it as a clean establishment though. Overall still enjoyed the meal.

I ordered a beef sandwich to get it shortly after I ordered it and the meat was ice cold like it was thawed out from being frozen and to top it off the fries were not even cooked my worst experience ever at a restaurant will never go back

The hamburger that I had was very good. The experience was good, but limited. What else is there to say?

Visited here while staying at the Comfort Suites nearby. It's a bit basic, but the food is fantastic. We shared a brisket meal, which was just right for 2 people. It just melted is the mouth. It came with fries, coleslaw and a slice of garlic bread. We want to go back and try other things.

The food was really good. Had ribs and pulled pork. Both were a good value.
Good lunch, good service
Shorty's, is old Miami. The original location on US 1 is classic. The Bird Road location is a good alternate if you are in the area and don't want to get stuck in traffic. Good portions at a good price. Very accommodating and attentive.
