My favorite Thai in LA Before dinner I met Ben (Lady) the chef owner. So many times I expect the usual Thai tasty but not exciting dishes. Ben definitely has a flare for combinations of flavors. They absolutely work perfectly together. Each dish was unique and did not miss a beat. We began with the chicken vegetable dumplings. Five to an order. We had two orders, I could have had two orders myself. There was a harmony in the balance. The dumpling wrap was cooked perfectly. My tongue wrapped around the way the spices combined the vegetables and chicken together. The whole Branzino was prepared crispy with spicy vegetables. Amazing crunchy very edible bones. The meat of the fish was cooked exactly the way it should have been. Moist and delicious. I am not usually a fan of Pad Thai. It is often too sweet. This was wonderful. Balanced flavors from the mild spices. Fantastic. The farmers market vegetables were in a curry sauce. Heaven in a dish! The vegetables were not over cooked and had fresh crunchyness. They told me the Signiture appetizer is "Hidden Treasure" it is a shrimp and crab meat combination. It is n a spicy cream curry sauce. Thank goodness it did not remain hidden long. It was served in a dish often used for pastry shell desert platter. The chicken cashew dish was also beautifully prepared and served. The crispy cat fish was that and also tasted good with the vegetables. I personally loved the Branzino more. There were eight of us so we got taste many wonderful dishes. Our main waiter Pichai was attentive and he did not miss anything. His service was far better than I have had in some very high end fancy restaurants. The place is very nicely laid and much more upscale than I would expect in a Thai restaurant. I cannot wait to go back and back and back.

This is best Thai restaurant on west side los angeles. Delicious food, good service, pleasant decor. I will be returning often

In LA visiting our daughter and decided to try TA for a nearby Thai restaurant. We hit the jackpot with Si Laa! Everything was very delicious, staff was most attentive, and ambiance of the restaurant was great. Well worth the trip!

We ordered 5 items, all of them spectacular! The pad thai and the potstickers were some of the best we've had. The service was especially friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Far more authentic (and I've been to Thailand many times) than other American Thai restaurants. Simple clean decor and friendly helpful staff. Great food. The crispy duck dish is as good duck as I have tasted. Also very much enjoyed the crab pad Thai. They have excellent small wine list. A five dollar Uber ride from an area of overpriced restaurants this place is a gem.

Needed at least one good asian meal while we were in LA for a weekend, and we found a great spot on route to the airport. Started with dumplings, perfectly hot and seasoned. My wife had the crispy duck, delicious, and I had basil thai shrimp, we also ordered the garlic infused rice, really good. Skipped the dessert so we could stop in at Cool Haus scoop shop, in Culver city, on the way to the airport.

We are locals and this is our favorite Thai restaurant. Food is always super fresh and flavorful. Service is attentive. The atmosphere is generally quiet, so it's our "go to" place when we want to have a real conversation with dinner companions. Our only problem is that the menu is somewhat limited compared to other Thai places, so we do like to try on occasion a Thai meal elsewhere. Almost always disappointing as this is THE best.

We have recently moved and have been walking the neighborhood, trying restaurants. Si Laa is just wonderful. Upscale Thai food, it is not inexpensive but worth every penny. The crispy duck was amazing and the crispy bronzino a real treat. I cannot wait to try the other things on their menu. The staff is lovely and the decor very pleasing.

In town visiting daughter. Was looking for good place nearby and saw reviews of this small upscale Thai restaurant. Wonderful choice, excellent Tom Yam soup - and not so spicy that we couldn't taste foods that followed. Shared pad Thai and the whole Bronzino fish. Both were great. Perfect finish with sticky rice and fresh ripe mango. Great place. Will come again whenever I'm in town. Look forward to bringing my wife - she's going to love it!

My wife and I were staying overnight in the area when we spotted the restaurant. The decor looked nice and we thought we would give it a try. The staff was very friendly and the service was spot-on. The food arrived quickly and was very flavorful. The portion size was perfect for sharing. It appeared that there were many regulars, and if we lived closer we would be among them. The cost was average for the area.

I had never heard of this place until I saw it on the best of list on Open Table. Small, family run restaurant, with excellent service and amazing food. I lived in Australia, where Thai food is amazing due to its proximity to Thailand versus here, so I have become spoiled from that experience. This place blew my mind. The two sisters that are usually waiting tables are super friendly, and seem to remember what you ordered on your previous visit. Very impressive. The satay beef skewers are a must have, and the crispy spring rolls are incredible...just don't dive in too eagerly as they are very hot inside, when they get to your table. I learned that the hard way. The crispy honey duck is another favorite of mine, and a must have. Great overall dining experience in Beverly Hills, at a reasonable price.

This small restaurant is lovely clean and run/owned by a truly lovely Thai family...they ar always smiling helpful and remember you from one visit to another...weekends ar always quite busy so make a reservation...weekdays are easier...parking is on street...wine list is great...food is so delicious and always consistently good and different...try it!

Very, very good Thai food, but without asking made it super-spicy. Good thing I can handle it! Noodles and soup were all very good. We took it to go, so I can't speak of the atmosphere, but the way things look it seems like they have karaoke or live bands from time to time. Waitress was very helpful and to go was packaged with care. Will try again for sure.

We visited this restaurant as we were staying nearby and the reviews were excellent. I must say it did not disappoint. The food was fresh and full of flavour, the staff/family who run the business are delightful and the restaurant is clean with a lovely welcoming vibe. The coconut prawn entree is a must as well as the crab noodles and the coconut ice cream. Would highly recommend this little gem!

Original dishes and preparations. Not the typical generic Thai restaurant menu. Everything we tasted was delicious and well flavored.

We were searching for a restaurant that was open by 5:15pm for dinner on Sunday. It also had to be close to the Saban Theatre and not overly expensive. My husband found Si Laa Thai on Yelp and it was perfect. I ordered the Hidden Treasure appetizer and the short ribs. Excellent! So much flavor. Our friends ordered the Sa-Tay and the Hot Basil Chicken. Also very tasty. By 5:30, the restaurant was full so reservations might be a good idea. We will definitely return.

We were almost not going to make reservation because we didn't think it would be busy on a Thursday night but we were lucky we did because the restaurant was full when we walked in. My husband and I had the filet mignon satay, chicken curry and short rib noodles. All of the food were delicious. The satay was so tasty and the pickled vegetables and sauce that came with the satay were yummy as well. My curry was delicious and was one of the best that I've ever had. My husband thought his noodle dish was good and he commented that the food at the restaurant were better than the food from the Thai restaurant at home.

If you like a low key restaurant serving wonderful Thai food this is it! This is a family run place that serves fabulous Thai food in a low key casual setting. Try the whole fish! They only serve dinner.

Hands down the finest Thai in LA. Flavors are off the charts and simply better and more refined than anywhere else. The family run friendliness is why I keep coming back. And back. And back. I can’t wait for in dining to resume but until then, I’ll keep ordering take out. Love this place!

This is a restaurant you could easily pass on Robertson, if you did not know it was there, but it is and if you are looking for authentic and really tasty Thai, this is the place. It only has a wine and beer license, so no exotic drinks but the food makes up for it. Tasty, fresh and some with a kick if you order right.

We are in the sprawling city of LA which is the jumping off point for a short cruise. Earlier this year we met a young lady who lives in LA and is a fellow traveller who loves eating and visiting different countries. They choose Si Laa where we were bowled over by the staff's attentiveness and the can do attitude this was evident when they just took a starter order and had no idea what we wanted for dinner. The food was exceptional, I had a starter of the hidden treasures which are prawns cooked in various sauces The mains were equally well prepared and so tasty that we changed to a family style so what we could share every dish. My highlight was the crispy duck in a plum sauce wonderful we also devoured the Pad Thais as well As usual for us we were the last to leave but not before having a little ice-cream---Ginger---,Coconut,-----Honey

Great Thai food in LA! Many repeat customers. From their Larb, hidden treasures to their filet mignon satay, their fried fish and wonderful Chili sauce were awesome. Their crying beef is tasty so as their cabbage in fish sauce. All this good food is at a price at the higher end.

Small, intimate, smartly elegant with world class Thai based cuisine, I remain ambivalent about reommending this place as I would like to keep this hidden gem, well, hidden. Family run (the servers are children of the chef), gracious attentive service, and a duck for which you should trade your first born. Every dish we have had over ten visits was scrunptious and beautifully prepared and presnted! Enjoy...but keep it to yourself!

Thai food unlike any we have ever had. Creative, quality ingredients, beautiful presentation, and delicious. Very friendly service. Calm, contemporary decor. Intimate scale.

Very good food and ambience, liked their vegetarian tofu with basil very much! They even did a half plate of padthai for my son! :)

This was probably my tenth time at Si Laa. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive and the food is always delicious. My favorites this time were Short Rib Green Curry, crispy whole bronzino and Hidden Treasures. Wonderful flavors. Like so many good LA restaurants, there are usually one or two entertainment celebrities there having a quiet meal without fanfare. Give it a try.

We entered this beautiful restaurant on a weekday in the later evening by chance after a long day at the hospital. The tables were beautifully set and the flower arrangements all over the restaurant, along with the lighting were not only breathtaking, but soothing. Ordered larb, two noodle dishes, soup, catfish and sticky rice. All were very good, but the catfish was outstanding. All was freshly made, perfectly spiced and satisfying. Ordered beer and wine too. Total was under $70 for 3 of us, with drinks. Service was wonderfully attentive. Great place with great food.

was really good find on a sunday night, 5 of us, 1 child, everyone left happy and full, had leftovers the next day

We have gone many times and the Thai food is awesome. We've tried all the appetizers and now always get the Hidden Treasures. Delicious! The crispy duck dinner is amazing! The Branzino is a fun experience and yummy, and the short rib is good but a little heavy for us. The crispy duck cannot be beat! The Pad Thai noodles are our first pick followed by Devil's or Pad See You. The two adorable waitresses are the owners daughters and are always happy to help with your selection. It can get pricey so know that going in but it is fine dining and the food is excellent. You get your money's worth!

Hotel suggested we avoid the fast food Thai restaurant across the street and go to this fine dining restaurant. It did not disappoint in service, elegant atmosphere, food presentation, taste. We ordered several appetizers and dishes but later that night texted each other and said, great food, but still hungry. There are no misses on the menu - the hit? Hidden Treasure - spicy, shrimp, crab and basil hidden under seven lids. We loved it so much that we kept hoping we missed one under the lid. The crispy garden rolls were predictable; pad see you had melt in your mouth short ribs. Lovely dining experience.

It's a go for me, the food is really good, the restaurant is quiet and delicate, service is also very good and the waitresses are very polite. I would definitely go back

When this lovely little Thai Cafe opened, I was delighted to eat thre, recommend its delicious cuisine and lovely waitstaff. Returned this past month and boy has it slipped. As the only customers( the 2 of us) in this place, you would think they would be eager to please and accommodate. WRONG. the maire d' was less than ccordial and kind when we asked for the techno club music from the 80's to be toned down if not off. he said it was an iPod and nothing he could do. The items we selected came in an incorrect order , all 3 plates just plopped on the table. One was so spicy( and I like spicy) it was inedible. No warning, no asking of level of heat was posed by the waitress. I am sad to say that this place wis going to be short lived unless it ratches up its depression and ignoring mentality. No wonder no one is there eating. What was once a delightful and uniqueluy special thai cafe is now less than ordinary. bad food, rude service, and lousy music, no way to spend $$ in this economy when every meal out counts.

the food was exquisite. service very attentive. The hidden treasure appetizer is out of this world. great suggestions for people who hadn't eaten here before. definitely coming back the next time I'm in town

We have eaten here a number of times. It is a nice modern space that is easy to miss in the middle of a block. For a Thai restaurant the menu is limited. For instance, they serve Filet Mignon Satay, but not chicken satay. The food is very good. Service is very good. Check the menu before you to to make sure they have dishes you want. If they have it, it will be very good.

We had a large family dinner at this restaurant. They were able to accommodate our group and a similar sized one at the same time. This is a small family owned eatery. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a reasonable selection of dishes that range from very mild to slightly spicy. Based on having lived in Thailand, I can say that many of the dishes were authentic in taste and preparation. I would recommend the papaya salad and the laarb chicken as starters to get your tastebuds into the right mood.

New owner and new menu. Nice atmosphere but most importantly, GREAT food!!!!! My favorite new Thai restaurant close to home.

Excellent service and excellent food in this unpretentious simple eatery that delivered a wonderful dinner. Every aspect was just plain delicious. Relatively small space; our server was the daughter of the owners. Friendly, fast and yummy. Highly recommend.

I love this place. Great food and truly first class ingredients. Need to reserve. Easy street parking.

I love this restaurant. The food is excellent without exception (and we've tried a huge portion of the menu), and the service is wonderful. The larb chicken appetiser is one of our favourites, as is the mee krob (not on the menu, but ask and they will make it). The filet mignon satay is also superb. It's far and away better than any other Thai restaurant I can think of in LA.

some of the most delicious and innovative Thai cooking around. On the expensive side but worth every single penny. The lamb chops are fantastic as is everything else on the menu. Lovely service.

When I arrived at my hotel on my last trip to LA, it was late and I was tired. Therefore I decided to eat at the Thai restaurant directly across the street from my hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. It is a small place with only a few tables, but the food was very good. I had the Thai Rice With Chicken, and my wife had the Cashew Chicken. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and most of the tables were in use. The service was great. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Well, we have been starved of the wonderful food for two years. The hand pleated potstickers are fantastic. Five of us ate seven orders. We had the hidden treasure shrimp dish in which the shrimp were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The whole Branzino is out of this world. Perfectly deep fried and crispy and delicious. The spicy crab fried rice is so simple sounding but really tasty. The service is very attentive and really professional. Ben the mother is an amazing chef and person. The environment is simple and yet elegant. We are lucky to live in LA so we can go often. It is World class Thai food as good as it gets.

Not one thing ordered was not delicious. Crispy duck and the shrimp appetizer they serve in that special dish was awesome. Great service too.

We were in LA for the Rose Parade I decided that this was the place to try Thai food. I had had it in Bangkok and the Midwest. Bangkok was decidedly better. So we Ubered from S Monica Pier $17. Surge of course. Sidebar: loved the concept of Uber but now feel they are chiseling us Service lovely this seemed to be a neighborhood place. We ordered 2 apps and split the whole fish. Food beautiful and delicious I'm just not a tiny tastes person. Fish a lot of work even though our perfect server deboned it for us. Every other table happily tucking into their food. I should of ordered the pad Thai it looked wonderful gliding by us in the hands of the perfect servers.

We live in Venice, but wanted to try more Thai food. Si Laa Thai is highly rated by TripAdvisor but invisible from the usual top thai restaurant lists. Why? Because the place is small, family run, probably does not have PR consultant! We had the eggplant vegetable side dish, the short ribs mains, and the spicy noodle mains (w chicken substituted for short ribs). All were nothing short of phenomenal ! Looks like the pot stickers are the bomb here - we are the only folks who did not order. I'm still depressed because I'll never in my lifetime make eggplant as good as Si Laa Thai .Gracious service, reasonably priced wine list. Book ahead - it's a small place. We will be back soon !

This is a family-owned business, where pretty much everything is hand made freshness! The recipes are all delicious come from a family who serves real food from Thailand. My wife and I both had pad thai (mine chicken) and hers had crab and shrimp. She has consistently raved about and stated that she was amazed that they used fresh crab. Mine was amongst the best that I have ever had and I eat Thai food several times a month. The hand-pleated potstickers, garden rolls, and the hidden treasure appetizers were sensational! Lastly, our friend had the crispy catfish filet (which we all shared) and it, too, was tremendous. The ambiance and service was amazing and I cannot wait to return to try their crispy duck! I am told that it is also a must have.

Delicious food, family owned. Recipes from Mother and Grandmother. All run by charming family members. Best Thai food in the city.

This place is an absolute gem. Intimate, family owned/family run. Excellent food, be it spicy or not; it's all delectable. Friendly, attentive service. Extensive wine list. Order your appetizers, main meal, and sides separately. Sides are decent size to share with dining partner. Reservations highly recommended.

Portions is good, taste is a bit too sweet and not spicy enough, service is good and environment is not Thai style, in a more simple US restaurant type...

Si Laa creates some of the finest Thai dishes that I have ever tasted. I am a sucker for Tom Kha Gai coconut chicken soup, and theirs is exquisite in its ingredients and preparation. We also had the luscious hidden treasures (shrimp and blue crab) and the devil noodles (short rib and wonderful hand-made noodles). Go ahead and have the spicy dishes. They are not dangerous.

This modest establishment (at least from the outside) serves some of the best food in LA. The chef is Thai, but he cleverly incorporates Thai ingredients and sauces into fusion dishes which dazzle, e.g. crispy duck or branzino. Everything we tried, from appetizers to dessert was wonderful. The interior decor is sleek and quiet and the service was family-friendly. What a culinary surprise on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica. Worth a detour!

We've known the owner and her family for years. We knew her since she managed Telasai on Sunset. We followed her she.she opened Si Laa. It was similar to Telasai but on a smaller scale. Still very chic and understated. The food from this kitchen is the cleanest and freshest I've tasted. They have built a loyal following. The staff is the best and very knowledgeable.

We started with two orders of the hand pleated potstickers. OMG they are amazing. There were just two of us so we only ordered one more. The flavours work in harmony with each other. The chilli oil is not to strong and enhances the chicken and scallions. Fantastic dish!!! The spicy crab noodle is beyond description. It is so full of flavour balanced by balanced spiciness. The noodles are cooked perfectly. Just can't get enough of it. We drank a bottle of 2012 Araujo Viognier. Perfect wine with perfect food. The table next to us had a you son about 10 years old. They were encouraging his input for what he wanted to eat. I love that early training in a great restaurant. He WILL grow up a foodie. The whole Bronzino is so crispy. It IS the Best crispy fish anywhere. The three flavours are incredible. The Thai fried rice with chicken is great. The tomatoes area wonderful accompaniment.7 I said to my wife can we go out, cone back in and start again? What a meal!!!!! I cannot get here often enough. The service is wonderful. Very attentive. They know what all the dishes ingrédients. The timing is perfect. If you only have time for one dinner in LA this is the place to have it. This is way beyond a five star meal.

We found this gem of a restaurant by asking Yelp for the best Thai restaurants in LA, and Si Laa was one of the best reviewed, and is within a reasonable distance from where we live. It's on a not well lit part Robertson Blvd just south of Pico and if you drive by you might miss it, but once found you'll be so, so glad you did. The ambience is low-key, the decor modern and comfortable, and the food absolutely scrumptious It's traditonal and non-traditional at the same time. Service is attentive. They only serve beer and wine, but the hot Sake is a knockout. The Crispy duck is my favorite, but it's also the only entree I order because it's too damn good not to. My wife loves the Cshew Chicken and the Basil Shrimp. If you like Thai, you'll never go anwhere else age.
Five Star Three Diamond
Wow! I am not sure where to start. Ben, yes a Lady is the chef. And what a chef she is. This is Thai food absolutely at its finest. It is upscale Thai which displays flavors in the sauces that are AMAZING. We started with Crispy Taro and Vegetable Rolls. Spicy Filet Mignon Satay. Sweet corn and Chicken Fritters. We served a South African Chenin Blanc with them. They were perfect together. Then we had "Hidden Treasure" curry sauce, perfectly mild shrimp and crab combination. You will enjoy it so much it wi not remain hidden long. Hand Pleated Potstickers. The flavors work perfectly together. Absolutely scrumptious. The Asian Sausage Salad is delicious and intriguing. The sausage was tasty and mild yet full of flavor. The salad ingredients were so fresh and crisp. The wine we had with above was 2010 Araujo Sauvignon Blanc. Perfect with the dishes. Then we had the whole Bronzino with three flavor sauce. It was incredibly crispy and the meat of the fish was so beautifully moist. The skin and the bones were crisp. Truly wonderful fish dish. The Asian Eggplant sautéed with Chili and Garlic was almost indescribable. It filled my mouth with perfectly balanced flavors of the components none of which overwhelmed any other. Golden yellow curry with chicken and golden and purple potatoes was delicious. Ot was not heavily coconut nor heavily curry. It ia amazing how good a balanced curry dish can be! The Jasmine Rice was great, not dry and the grains were plump. With that above we had 2012 Stonestreet Chardonnay. Upper Barn. The grapes used to be sold to Marcassin. Stonestreet now makes their own version of Upper Barn. Tastes as good as the Marcassin version. Our next course was the Prime Filet Mignon with Green Beans. The Filet was so tender and the slightly spicy flavor was terrific. I am not sure that I have words to describe the Crispy Duck with Ginger Soy sauce. So tender and the flavor had a long pleasant finish. The finish made you long for mire and more and more. With this we had the Ginger Garlic Rice. Wonderful tastes allowed to show through. The last main dish was the Spicy Crab Noodles. O O G the spiciness was in perfect harmony with the flavors of the sauce. The noodles were perfectly al dente. The combination of the flavors with the crab just complemented each other delightfully. This dish is an incredible introduction for someone like me that used to shy away from noodles and crab. Not anymore here. With this course we had 2004 Pax Syrah cuvée Keltie. This wine was ready to drink after being open for two hours before we drank it. Dessert consisted of fresh fruit in season, mango, strawberries, lichees and white peaches. These fruits were hand picked to be ready to eat, not a hard bone in them. If you get a chance to eat here run don't walk. I do not know of a more upscale Thai food restaurant. What a treat. Everyone who came to eat and celebrate my birthday could not stop raving about every dish. Thank you Ben. You made me look good and all I did was make the reservation.
