what a difference a year makes

By dberzerker |

Not sure what happened - but food definitely not as good as it was in the past. Fried calamari overcooked, stiff and chewy. Brussel sprouts overly salty. Fried okra soggy, and undercooked scallops. Mixed drinks however were still great. Sangria and even house wine very tasty.

Good Tapas

By Teresa L |

Good fresh Tapas. Authentic. Meats, cheeses, Paella, potato tortillas, shrimp, all good. $3 specials. Fair wine selection. Service was fair.

Favorite tapas restaurant in the USA

By lara b |

I lived down the street from this restaurant for years and didn't know what I was missing until I fell in love with tapas on a trip to Spain. Upon returning I went straight to Si Tapas to test them out. I loved the quaint little house and the patio area in back gives a beautiful view of the downtown dallas skyline few get to see in uptown at ground level Their food rivaled that I got in some of the best Madrid tapas places.. Pincho moruno and patatas mixtos are tasty dishes. They have a good sampling of cured meats and cheeses - my favorite being Serrano ham and manchego of course The tortilla española with the cabrales cheese sauce is outstanding I LIVE for the judias verdes (a sautéed green bean dish with Serrano ham and a coarse mustard sauce) Their sangria is cheap and delicious and they make a pretty mean mojito But they also have an extensive wine list for someone wanting a more traditional tapas experience.. Don't leave without trying the pan perdido for dessert and if you're a spanish soccer fan, you have to stop by for El Clasico when the fanatics from Barcelona and Madrid come to cheer their teams to victory.. Truly a Spanish gem in the middle of a sea of sports bars and BBQ joints

Quaint spot; good for date night or groups

By Vandy05 |

Si is a quaint little place tucked away in the State-Thomas neighborhood...blink and you'll miss it! The patio in back is the more popular seating area and it overlooks a grassy lawn- you feel far removed from downtown Dallas! Inside seating is nice and they will happily accommodate larger groups in either area. This place is great for date night or dinner with friends. *Parking is a situation, there's no lot- use Uber or their valet! Portions were larger than we expected for tapas... Everything we had was tasty and relatively authentic. Martinis are solid, Grey goose served in metal martini glasses. Great selection from which to choose, so everyone should be able to find something! Meat, seafood, veggies, cheese, etc. ALLERGY Alert: I have a tree nut allergy and was surprised to see nuts sprinkled on the meat & cheese board...not a big deal but they weren't in the description. Just an FYI for sensitive diners :)

Simply magnifico!

By Arizona_Pete |

We loved everything about this place. The garlic shrimp (gambas) and baby eels (angulas) were absolutely delicious, and so was the cheapest garnacha in the house ($24/bottle). Food prices were reasonable and choices plentiful. The back dining room overlooking the backyard is very pleasant and relatively quiet. Service was good and courteous, and yes, all the servers spoke Spanish. We're definitely going back for more.

Great Happy Hour

By Giovanni Hager |

Select tapas for $3 and pitcher sangria or bottle of wine for $12 during happy hour Mon through Thurs 16 to 19. The food is good and has a nice authentic vibe. The only down side is that they do not have Iberico Jamon, if you have not had this then you are missing out. The tuna and green beans with ham are great tapa choices as well as the croquets.

Yummy and extremely reasonable!

By Sandra_LB1828 |

This place really does Tapas the right way. There were many many tapas to chose from of all types (classical and more modern). Every single dish that was brought to the table was tasty and well presented. Service was awesome, the sangria was good and teh prices were reasonable. Wish there was one like that where I live!

Everything was delicious

By Keith B |

Four of us went there tonight, all for the first time. We had several different tapas, all of which were excellent. My wife had gazpacho soup that was delicious. I've made this several times. This was the best I've ever tasted. We shared a traditional paella. It was full of seafood along with the traditional chicken legs. It was extremely good. Deserts were excellent. Service was helpful, attentive and fun. We will be back.

Cozy and intimate

By gudfoodanywhere |

Good place to spend a romantic night with your spouse. We order sangria to start and then 5 tapas. The menu is very diverse and fulfilling. The only thing i wish they have is live music but regardless I'm definitely going back.

Great variety from which to choose.

By M H |

What a find and easy to miss. This little gem is worth a visit. We tried about a dozen offerings. At the urging of our Dallas resident host we tried the blood sausage and the baby eels. We loved them and would never have ordered unless encouraged to try. The artichoke hearts are a nice compliment to the many meat offerings.

Great Small Plate Experience

By Bunny143143 |

My mother wanted to take us out to an eating establishment as part of our Xmas. None of my family had experienced Spanish Tapas, so I choose Si Tapas in uptown Dallas. Our choice was aided by my mother wanting grilled lamb chops. We were at the restaurant at about 5:00pm. We started oureal with the Boquerones en Vonagre. The anchovies were clean & fresh - probably the best my fiancé have had at the many Tapas restaurants around the country. We ordered the Chuletas de Cordero a la Parrilla for Mom. She received 4 small lamb chops (I ate one) & neither of us were disappointed. They were perfectly grilled! We ordered a couple of the Sirloin steak in Cabrales sauce. It was rich and tastey! It paired well with the Setas al Ajillo- sautéed wild mushrooms in garlic sauce. The Patatas con Chorizo was equally good.We ordered the Gambas al Ajillo (Shrimp in Garlic) and found them quite good also. My brother ordered the Paella Mixta for two. However, there was plenty for all of us to have a small plate. Since we shared our small plates, we had plenty of room for desserts. My brother had the Pan Perdido - sautéed bread with caramelized apples & homemade vanilla ice-cream. He was quite pleased. My mom had the Strawberries w/ oranges & black pepper ice cream in a Grand Marnier sauce. It was by far the best dessert for my tastes. My fiancé & sister-in-law had the Catalan style cream brûlée w/ white chocolate shavings. It was well executed. I ordered the Pera Escalfada en Cava con Salsa de Passion con Chocolate. This was my only disappointment of the meal. The chef must have forgotten the Passionfruit because I received a cold pear with chocolate sauce with vanilla ice-cream on the side! Once I got a knife to cut up the pear, it wasn't too bad in the chocolate sauce but nothing spectacular - nothing like pictured on the website menu! All and all, we had a wonderful Xmas dining experience sans Pera. We certainly will visit Si Tapas again on one of our future trips to Dallas.

A fix of Spain

By Colindres C |

It's good if you're craving some tapas and Sangria, but if you've been to Spain it is an overpriced version of a tourist cervecería but hell, we are in Texas so it really doesn't get any better than this. It's a good date spot on Wednesday night when they have happy hour.

Wonderful food.

By Hunda |

We had dinner with our friends at Si Tapas as they live in Dallas and go regularly............it was a great recommendation, great food and a lovely atmosphere, the tapas dishes were unusual and very tasty so we all had a lovely evening.

Great paella!!

By AHS64 |

Paella with chicken, pork and shrimp- almost as good as some I had in Spain. Some tapas we tried - mostly seafood was also good. Cute/Cozy place but no parking lot.

Amazing Food, Amazing Service !!!

By k9massage |

After almost 25 years of not eating angulas we found them here !!! I ate 3 plates !!! Everything in this Restaurant is great !!! Located in a very nice area.

Great Tapas, Wine & Atmosphere

By Sharon I |

Si Tapas is in a little cottage in lovely part of Dallas with great tapas and good wine. We had a delicious meal while visiting Dallas. We tried the special of the day, which was a fish, a portion of the pork ribs, the Spanish tortilla, the wild mushrooms, the orange salad with carrots and mint and fresh fried okra w/sea salt and curry. It was all excellent. Definitely would be a favorite of mine if I lived in Dallas!

Very disappointed

By arev123 |

Last night, we revisited this establishment. The food was great but we were extremely disappointed with the service. I'm not talking about the server, he was good, but more about the management. We finished our main course, dessert and my wife was finishing her wine. We were talking enjoying our time and suddenly the waiter told us that he was very sorry but the manager had told him that we needed to leave because they needed the table. I completely understand if we had been there talking for 30 to 40 minutes without ordering anything else but it must have been only 10 minutes just waiting for my wife to finish her drink. I have never been told to leave from a restaurant before. We love to go out and eat at good places and have traveled a lot and always find good restaurants, but this has never happened to me before. I can't help but wonder if our treatment would have differed had we been a different demographic. Such a disappointing experience after having a great time with my wife celebrating my birthday.

Excellent Food, Great Service and Decent Prices

By rmcareer |

Although the prices can really add up when you try several dishes, I did find the overall expense reasonable for the quality of food. Aside from the great service and nice location, the variety of items catered to almost any taste (or dietary restriction). What was really exceptional was the quality of ingredients used. Everything was very fresh, very well prepared and very flavorful. I am generally not a big fan of Sangria, but after trying Si Tapas version I believe I must have previously experienced Sangria using a lower quality wine. Theirs it excellent.

DISAPPOINTED

By crk1254 |

We ordered the mixed paella for 2. it was very greasy. My boyfriend rated it a 1 and will not go back. I rated it a 3. I am from New York. Many restaurants serve Paella. Much more limited in the Dallas area. In New York the style is so much different. Not greasy almost the same price for 2 people and can take a doggy bag home. In NY they serve the large scallops, here the scallops small. sausages could barely see in the dim light.

Superbe Spanish Food

By Fady_Rayes |

Excellent Spanish dishes prepared with care. Attentive service and large Spanish wine selection. Also very fairly priced

Less than memorable

By Joe L |

Well the sangria was good The paella was good also except for the shrimp with the heads on them which were very difficult to deal with Tapas were very skimpy for ten dollars My wife ordered an $18 cocktail. It was tiny and not even what she ordered The server was apathetic and unfriendly.

Slightly Divey and Completely Delicious

By Live it up Steve |

Y'all, Si Tapas in Uptown Dallas is TOPS. We made excellent choices, by the way. White anchovies are amazing and the whipped garbanzos with spinach is NOT your mama's hummus. Haven't had tapas this good since Emilio's in Chicago. Our experience with service was outstanding. I asked for a dry white wine, and when the server brought me a taste, I asked her if it was expensive. Her response was perfect: let's look it up in the menu. And it was reasonable :)

Fair

By austinboy |

The wine list wad great, the service was good and the artichoke dish was very good. The paella was very disappointing. It's quantity and diversity of seafood was fine, but it tasted heavy on oil and really lacked spice I would expect from a paella. For a signature dish and the center of our meal, I was disappointed.

Not to Spanish standards

By viaggiatore5500 |

The restaurant was highly recommended as serving typical Spanish food. Not sure if they take reservations but I would advise to make them if possible. The tapas were good, not remarkable, and variaty of choices and creative menu was good but again, not typical. I am from Spain and can say that the food did not meet my expectations as an authentic SPANISH restaurant. What bothered me the most though is the bread that was served; it was soft and chewy. I think if they improved their quality of bread, I could overlook the "non typical" Spanish tapas and enjoy their American "version" of Spanish tapas.

Tapas - Food For All

By GadgetGuY2k |

We had a great time ordering, and ordering more tapas, after tapas. We shared everything. If you eat small portions there are no calories, right? Everything was delicious, and the service staff was always there to recommend the next item to order to complement what we had just eaten. Tuna was #1 favorite. A bit noisy on a Saturday night, DO the valet parking. Much cheaper than the parking ticket we got;

Try it for yourself!

By Manek |

I was there last night for dinner.. We were initially seated outside, but we moved indoors because we were getting mosquito bites in the outside patio. We ordered Veal, shrimps, mussels, chicken, quail, and Mousse for desert. Everything was yummy! Don't forget to order the sangria!

It has a great selection of

By Diana C |

It has a great selection of tapas, which were very good. We had the tuna which was perfectly cooked, the lamb chops were great, the shrimp, the Brussels sprouts and asparagus. What I didn’t like was the bread, which was disappointment for a Spanish restaurant (you need that bread for that olive oil on those dishes). The wine list was very well explained and nice selections of Spanish wines. As far as the location, it has a bar area with TVs showing soccer games of mostly the Spanish league. That area is not very pretty. By beyond that there is a nicer seating area.

Great menu, great atmosphere

By Lisashubby |

My wife (also a reviewer) and I are HUGE tapas fans-- we make it a point to hit a wide variety in NYC or other big restaurant towns. To find someplace with this kind of quality and authenticity in Dallas is a joy. Grab a carafe of sangria and just start ordering stuff. You can't go wrong. Great location in a house off Woodall-Rogers, with a great feel and great service.

Good times on a snowy day

By Undergroung_blowout |

We stopped by along with another couple last week when it was snowing in Dallas. We sat in the back room and had a great view of the snow coming down in the back yard. We ordered several varieties from the menu and also had a bottle of bold red Spanish wine. Finished with desert & coffee to cap off a wonderful lunch with friends. We will be back.

Excellent Tapas! Everything

By Greenvilledan |

Excellent Tapas! Everything was great. We asked for suggestions and were surprised with the steak with blue cheese. Neither my wife or I like strong blue cheese but the sauce was very mild, and was perfect! We enjoyed the calamari, mushrooms, ham and cod croquettes, everything was so delicious! The only negative was poor valet service which costs $10.00! We were not from the area so had no idea where there was alternative parking. The wait staff was great with wonderful suggestions. The chocolate mousse was served in a huge mason jar and was out of this world.

Just wonderful!

By Mery C |

We celebrated my birthday here last Friday night, Oct. 10th with another couple. This is a low-key restaurant. I had studied the menu before coming and we the most delicious meal, in my opinion! We started with a manchego cheese appetizer with bread. Manchego cheese is wonderful. It was very thinly sliced and I loved it. Next we all had a salad. Three of us had a mixed greens salad with walnuts and a vinagrette. Delicious! Then came the tapas: garlic shrimp (good), chicken in saffron wine saucee (really good), okra (sliced longways and lightly batter-fried (excellent), sirloin with warm bleu cheese sauce (I was surprised at how wonderful this was) and then the heavenly scallops (we should have ordered two of this dish!!!) Afterwards we had deserts: pork with chocolate, creme brulee, and I had vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup (my favorite and afterall, it was my birthday). We enjoyed mixed drinks, beer and white, house wine. All in all, this dinner was more than I hoped for. The food was outstanding, the service was great and the company was the best! I couldn't have asked for a better birthday, except to have been able to celebrate it on the exact date. I definitely want to return. Next time, I would like to meet the owners. They are friends of my cousin and I'd like to tell them personally how much I have enjoyed eating there. Second time. First was for a private birthday party. And it surely won't be the last visit! Highlyt recommend.

Fantastic Spanish Tapas and Wine

By Terrihav |

This place was difficult to find but well worth the hunt. It looks like the building was a house converted to a restaurant, which is very cool because you feel at home here. The gentleman was very friendly and let us sit wherever we wanted. We choose a table looking out over the back yard where the squirrels and birds were playing. There were so many exciting menu options that I could have spent all day here. We started with three toasted breads. One was topped with sobrasada, one with salmon, and the other with tomato marmalade with goat cheese. My favorite was the Pollo Aranda. It was chicken in saffron wine sauce. Patatas con chorizo and the albondigas were delicious. Patatas con chorizo were potatloes with chorizo. Albondigas were perfectly spiced Spanish meatballs. There were several Spanish wines to fit any taste. I tried two different glasses of Tempranillos and I enjoyed both of them.

Bad idea if you are catalan or FC Barcelona supporter

Great value and high quality tapas

By BaggyH |

We stayed immediately next door at The Guesthouse in Allen Street. I found this restaurant through TripAdvisor research before we left the UK. There is a very good value Happy Hour Monday to Thursday 4pm - 7pm. We ate here both evenings. The Happy Hour tapas were $3 each. A litre pitcher of sangria was $12. We had 8 tapas dishes the first evening and 7 the next. The quality was very good. Only the week before we were in Andalucia in a Spain for Easter week where we ate tapas all the time. Si restaurant in my opinion matched the best tapas we had in Andalucia (Tapeart in Ronda for anyone who knows it). The service at Si was very quick. Both evenings, being a Monday & Tuesday, were what I consider to be busy. Nearly all the seating we could see filled up, especially around 6pm. Authentic good food at a more than fair price. Worth seeking out. Lucky for is it was only next door.

Best Sangria's and Tapas in Dallas

By Quoc T |

This neighborhood gem is hidden amongst the bars of Uptown. When you walk, the restaurant is amazingly spacious. Order the pitcher of Sangria because it is the best in town: not too sweet or too strong. If they have the white Sangria which is made with Champagne, order that. The tapas are varied and delicious. The plates are not that expensive and perfect for large parties. I really miss eating there.

Too Good to be True

By joey d |

The happy hour here is fantastic. The choice of small plates has a little bit of everything for everybody. However, if you don't love garlic (I do) choose wisely. Bring friends. The seafood with garlic are all good choices as is the sausage with onions. You really can't go wrong here.

Delicious but VERY inconvenient for large groups

By Monica |

I recently came here with my husband and group of friends and LOVED the food. No doubt about it, they have delicious tapas (AND espresso, which we also loved). Our favorite dishes were the patatas bravas and mussels. Tasty! The service itself was good and our waiter was friendly and attentive. I hate to complain about this but I have to.. they don't split checks here which is INSANELY annoying. An exceptional dining experience for me includes convenience and unfortunately, Si Tapas was not convenient. Pulling out a pen and calculator to figure out your bill is ridiculous. This may not be a hassle for others but it was for us - just about every other restaurant can split checks with no problem. I can't rate the restaurant any higher than average for this reason. Sorry!

Good authentic tapas!

By Mva07 |

This is a super cute, authentic Spanish tapas restaurant in the State Thomas neighborhood in uptown dallas. Reasonably priced and great food and drinks! The service was quick and attentive, but gave us our space for conversation. The shark was surprisingly tasty and was very well cooked, and the paella was fantastic! Parking can be a little tricky since it is mostly residential parking around there. They do have a valet, but it is not very obvious so either look closely for the valet or park a couple of blocks away.

The place to go for tapas in Dallas

By Justin C |

In my opinion the best value of any tapas restaurant in the city. Although the individual portions are small, that's to be expected at this type of place. There's a wide selection that covers just about every palate. My favorites include the calamari, sauteed asparagus, mushrooms in garlic sauce, and the au gratin scallops. The cheese and meat cold plate is nicely done as well, with a side of figs and grapes to complement the salted stuff. The happy hour is the one way to legitimately stuff yourself at a reasonable price, and all 3 of the house drinks (sangria, echegaray, and agua de valencia) are well done. It doesn't hurt that the atmosphere is very unique and cozy on the inside, and the outdoor patio is great for lounging for a relaxing lunch or dinner when the weather cooperates.

Quaint, but service and...

By Greg J |

Quaint, but service and food too informal for the high prices

Authentic Spanish food

By Andres L |

Si tapas is the only authentic Spanish restaurant in the area. If you know how to order you’ll enjoy a fantastic experience. Gambas, pulpo, paella valenciana, croquetas y un tinto. Enjoy

Fabulous Spanish Restaurant in Dallas

By Cesar V |

One of the best places for authentic Spanish cuisine in the Metroplex! The sangria was very refreshing and the TAPAS were phenomenal! Don't miss the grilled pork tenderloin with caramelized onions! Try also the Seafood Paella, very yummy! It is enough for 2 people and It is the best I ever had in the this area. Don't forget to leave some space for dessert! This is a great place to bring out of town guests for a wonderful evening in the city!

Cozy & Good

By culehmann |

Found this place by accident (see previous review) and loved the cozy feel. The food is authentic Spanish tapas and we enjoyed it very much. Interesting house cocktails.

Oh my gosh, this is a gem.

By detailsimportant |

Oh my gosh, this is a gem of a spot. Parking is a challenge, but after that, excellent, informed service, great tapas, everything about this little place speaks unique and wonderful.

Friends

By sjs009 |

We walked in 15 min before closing and were happily welcomed. Food was great and the atmosphere very relaxing. Waiter very friendly and pleasant. We were not rushed out the door like most places do when its past close time. They even gave us two complimentary dishes. Loved it!! Next time we are in Dallas we will definitely come visit this place again.

Great Food, but don't visit to watch Futbol

By amberisadiamond |

I visited Si Tapas with a friend one night, based on recommendations regarding the food. We had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent and the server, Alex, was pleasant. The Si salad was awesome, jamon serrano was fresh and authentic, and the paella was perfectly cooked. I had the most wonderful poached pear for dessert. My friend had lived in Spain for awhile and had become so emotional with how wonderful the food was. She said it was very deeply nostalgic. On the walls are Madrid photos and jerseys. I made a playful comment about my husband being a Barcelona fan. Alex told me that El Classico was the most fun to watch at Si Tapas and he invited my family to watch the next match at their bar. El Classico was a couple days ago. I had to work, but my husband went alone. He wore his Barcelona jersey and scarf, obviously. The restaurant made him remove his scarf, saying that he couldn't wear that there. He also tried to remove his leather jacket, since the restaurant was very warm, and a server told him that he needed to keep his jacket on or leave. Alex hadn't told me that he was going to be ostracized there. We've been looking for a good place to watch La Liga since we moved to Dallas in November. Alex made it sound like Si Tapas was the perfect place, but my husband texted me from the bar saying "why did you send me here?" Your food rocks, but I am so offended by the way you treated my husband. Barcelona won that match, and my family will never go to Si Tapas again.

Excellent Tapas

By Ruth B |

Outstanding food. Excellent experience. 4 of us ordered two dishes each with an order of bread, and it was the perfect amount of food. We had a wide variety with scallops, clams, green beans, pork, and chicken. Each dish I would rate either a 4 or a 5 (we weren’t overly fond of the chicken and rice as we found it too bland). The sangria was probably the best we’ve ever had. I would recommend eating outside as the restaurant becomes quite noisy. Service was excellent and very fast. We are all looking forward to going back the next time we are in Dallas to try different dishes.

Try Something Different

By LiketoeatCincinnati |

The tapas here can be interesting, such as chocolate pork bellies and the okra. These were very good along with calamari and also meatballs. They have numerous options. Overall this was a nice experience.

Great for tapas and wine

By gomezpal |

Recommend to start with Patatas and Chorizo followed by Gambas al Ajillo. Accompany with a fine Spanish red wine. En the Tapas afternoon with one of their delicious desserts.

The absolute best!

By Sparkytravels2013 |

This place is fabulous and the chef was incredible, gracious and very catering to all his guests. There were a few in our party who were more adventurous and open to eels, muscles, etc., while others were not (more meat and potatoes). The menu at tapas is so broad that everyone was happy, and the food was so good that even the non-adventurous tried the eels! The atmosphere was wonderful, and we ate until we could not eat any more. Everything from appetizers thru to dessert was just awesome and I can't wait to go back!

Great tapas

By RSM |

Good variety of tapas and great ambiance. Some dishes are super small so can't be shared but paella is for more than 2 people

Delightful surprise

By Bonny F |

Had several choices, all were good. The lamb chops outstanding! The server was helpful, Sat out on the terrace, usual Dallas weather but there was a nice breeze and we were comfortable.

Bomb pricing!

By EricPBliss |

Great Spanish spot...small bites, big bites, dessert, and a bomb wine list which though small hits some cool stuff. We'll be back for sure and we live in Austin. BTW...wife's a Somm. so the wine comment is spot-on. Prices are great!

Consistent nice service and tasty food

By ANYPLACEISGOOD |

Spanish tapas is a safe bet. Although their recipes are not genuine, the concept is still there and the tapas are pretty tasty. The staff is always there and ready to help. The wine list is very good, and their pricing is pretty reasonable. I have been there plenty of times, and it has always been good. Even one time we took some friends with us and it was great for them too. I strongly recommend you to try this place.

Great find

By tdtexas |

Great menu of tapas. Flavors were excellent and authentic. Great service. The wine menu was extensive. The mixed paella was very flavorful and a good value. We tried a wide variety of tapas (7 of us). We will be back.

Best tapas/Spanish food in Dallas

By bigboy61455 |

Food: is authentic as you can expect (Owner is from Madrid). Potato pancake and potato bravas are even better than some places in Spain. Paella can be ordered without advanced notice. People tend to try seafood in tapas places. But in inland place like Dallas, it must be shipped from somewhere else. So we enjoy oxtail, quails, blood sausage tapas more. Cold tomato soup (Gazpacho) is awesome. Octopus is ok, lots of shrimps in paella and other seafood in paella so, so. Small shrimps with garlic sauce (Gambas al ajillo) is great though. Cod fish croquette is also good. Ensalada de Si Tapas(romaine salad with rich creamy dressing) is also outstanding. Fairly priced and in fact more affordable than other tourist trap places of Dallas like Bishop district, Greenville, Deep Ellum etc. Service: is also attentive, outside tables also available. Parking can be a bit difficulty in this trendy uptown neighborhood but you can park free in nearby church. FYI, paella was okay for us and none of us got stomach upset like negative reviews mentioned.

Outstanding

By ncsccrdad |

Not having visited here before my expectations were not particularly high. However the small restaurant out performed. The lamb chops were absolutely a star. The seared Tuna likewise was outstanding with an extra dose of cracked pepper rub. The fried calamari and shrimp in garlic wine sauce was so good we doubled up. Our waiter was lacking personality but efficiently did his job. I’ll look forward to going back here.

Sweet spot, great for a date

By Marie F 🏝🌅🗺🧡 |

A restaurant in a house, what could be more quaint than that? Dallas has limited tapas options but this place is a standout whose quality does not falter. Good sangria, legit wine list, good classic shared plates including shrimp, patatas bravas, and so forth. We even got dessert which was also surprisingly solid. Perfect for a date but a group would also have a great time here. Just keep in mind reservations are not accepted. Will be back again!

Spain in Texas...!

By Gooseview |

We've been here several time over several years and have always been pleased. We've traveled some in Spain too....so we have an idea what tapas should be like. There are limitations with food supply in Texas but this place does a very good job of cooking up great Tapas...and great drinks. We will be returning here.

Best tapas outside of Madrid

By lara b |

I've been here many times and I'm shocked I haven't reviewed sooner This place is AMAZING Converted house into a great little neighborhood gem Romantic for couples but good for groups Great patio and good soccer watching if you're a fan of la Liga Tortilla espanola and Judias verdes aren't far my favorite dishes Papas con chorizo(diced potatoes with sausage) Gambis al ajillo are amazing (garlic shrimp) Super happy hour from 4-7 $12 pitchers of sangria $3 tapas.. Full bar And a great atmosphere Best tapas I've had outside of Madrid

Great food, great service, great prices

By TERRY B |

Ate here last night and found the whole experience excellent. From the moment we arrived the staff were attentive but not intrusive. The food was delivered to the table within the "right" amount of time and was perfect And the price (for a visitor from the UK) incredible

Great food with fair prices

By jllantin |

Great location with fair prices. Offers wide Spain food options, you can enjoy an ample selection of wines. I've visited this location 2 times and their food is amazing. I was in love with the Garbazon Caciar, it's super delicious.

Almost the real thing

By Pauak |

Have been there a couple of times, and compared to the real thing in Spain (where I've lived for years), it is a pretty good bet. I'd say that is the best real Spanish (from Spain) restaurant in Dallas. Of course, the prices are in the high end, but you get a quality product, without trying to make any fancy americanization of the plates. I like this place to get a Spanish beer (I recommend Estrella) and some "Jamon Serrano" and fresh cut "Chorizo". Service was excellent and the place is usually crowded giving it a even more typical experience. Be aware that a tapas bar is not a place for a formal dinner, it's more of casual place to join your friend and chat over a beer with some tapas on the side. You can go elsewhere later and have a steak; if you try to kill the hunger in tapas prepare the checkbook!

Ok food pricey

By PR-Texan |

Disappointed that they did not really offer tapas they were large plates. Very pricey. Sangria was very generic and average when this should be a specialty at any Spanish restaurant. Not very nice inside either

Great Tapas and Great Value

By R2RE |

Went for happy hour and tapas for our first time visit. Three of us went and we each ordered a tapa to share along with a bottle of wine. Then did another round. All of the tapas we tried were great as well as the house red. Had a great view of downtown also. We will definitely go back.

Excellent tapas in a casual setting

By rustycat83 |

Enjoyed the tapas at this nice old house in Dallas. The backyard patio is the best place to sit. Service was prompt and efficient. The tapas are very extensive, but I enjoyed the seafood varieties the best. Will definitely return in the future.

Super good stuff

By sreed76006 |

Friend and I stopped in today for lunch. We had a variety of different foods, it was really good and I was super excited to sample all of it. We had a very nice waiter, he was very busy, but made sure we were okay. This is Spain, but amazingly good for Texas.

Happy hour surprise!

A business associate and u went here for an early-ish dinner, with a plan to head to DMA afterwards. We discovered an awesome happy hour until 7pm. Waiter was friendly and helpful. We ordered an pitcher of echegaray, which is rum based and very refreshing. We wanted not to have sangria and to try something new . The okra was amazing. The happy hour plates are slightly smaller than the regular plates but then we got to try more things! We had 6 plates for the two of us: calamari, shrimp in garlic, okra- twice, chorizo with potatoes, bread with goat cheese. Waiter gave us a "last call" for happy hour orders which was nice. We stayed and ate so long, we did not get to DMA. Not disappointed - and you won't be either stopping in here. On leaving, almost all tables were filled.

Fun to go with a group

By TwoMillionMiles86 |

Nine people so we each ordered a dish to get started and then kept ordering after that. Fun to share, pass plates around, etc. artichokes outstanding! Mushroom, pork, chicken in saffron, scallops---all good. Serving sizes small but that's what tapas is all about. Good wine selection--very nice by the glass selections. Atmosphere is cozy with separate nooks and rooms...nice view out back of lawn area. Service was patient, attentive without hovering. Gotta make a return visit!

Still my favorite tapas spot in Dallas; Real Spain!.

By Allen727286 |

Visited Si again last weekend (we've gone there over 10 times) and was reminded how special the place is. I'm not Spanish and it was a treat to visit a place that exuded a foreign tradition and great service and wonderful fare. For this visit, every table (families, couples, friends) around us ordered in spanish; it felt like we were on vacation. Our favorites include the pitcher of sangria made with cava and 10 cane rum, the okra, the garlic shrimp and the cheese/meat plates. Broad list of beef, fish, vegitable options. Highly recommend.

great paella

By 2togoNebraska |

Great paella & very good service. Reasonable prices. Given the location, use the valet parking. It's in a converted house but done so nicely. Very glad we made the effort.

Great Sangria and Paella!!!

By MonicaCajas |

The food is magnificent, loved the orange and carrot salad. Lots of Sangria. Enjoyed my little corner table.

Authentic tapas

By JWDal |

Nestled among the tightly packed townhouses in State & Allen is a small wood-frame house that harkens back to the pre- 90's Uptown. It's a cozy space but with a surprising number of tables. The tapas menu is extensive, and the wine choices are very nice. Our server was knowledgeable and helped guide us through the many choices of both. I was just in Spain a few months ago, and I felt like I was back while eating here. Three of us shared a bottle of wine, six tapas, and two desserts. The check, with tip, was $120. Very reasonable.

Come here ALL THE TIME!

By Sofia S |

I have lost count of the number of times I’ve been here... on dates y my hubby, with friends, family, kids... its a great place for a chill out dinner or an outstanding lunch place n their outside patio... what we love about this place, THE FOOD THE FOOD AND THE FOOD, as well as the friendly staff and general atmosphere. What to get? Judias verdes, montadito casaluca, tortilla de papa, croquetas, mollejas, tuna, beet and orange salad, cauliflower, and to wrap up the crema catalana (like a creme brûlée)

Authentic

Wow! It brought me back to Spain. Get the carrot w orange salad, Beet salad, shrimp w garlic, green beans w serano ham and mustard sauce, potato omelet. Exceptional.

The Best Spanish Food in Dallas

By conchitamorenodfw |

This is the best Spanish food you can find in Dallas. The paella is delicious and the tapas are very authentic.

Bad anniversary experience.

By Martha N |

Yesterday 12/11/2016 my husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary at Si Tapas. We drove almost an hour to get there, because my Husband knows i love Spain cuisine, but the service was HORRIBLE!! especially our server Summer. She came to our table only 2times to drop the food and to drop the check. Absolutely rude. We tried to call another server and they hardly notice us when we wanted something. Lighting up our candle or getting more refill of water. We tried to talk to the manager and they denied him, they told us they didn't have any manager. Our bad experience didn't stop there, we ordered Paella but the taste wasn't good, such a bad presentation of that dish as well. The rice was almost cold and the food didn't have any flavor. I used to love this restaurant, but I'm not going to recommend it anymore. Such a disappointment for a special day.

Get the patatas bravas

By wcorley |

Great food and atmosphere! I liked that the patatas bravas had two different sauces. The tortilla reminded me of Madrid. The pork ribs were awesome. I'd like to go back for happy hour.

Si means YES...

By Ruth C |

And YES, you should definitely check this place out! Si Tapas is a unique restaurant situated at the foot of the Dallas' electric downtown area. What used to be an old house, has been transformed into a cozy restaurant with ambiance and really great food. Don't be fooled by the residential looking exterior...the place is fully equipped inside! I was doing some business in town and decided to check this place out with a local friend. We ordered the Cornish hen, which was savory, the Lamp chops, which were tender and seasoned deliciously. We also requested the seasoned beef, which was brought to us on a on a skewer and was cooked just so. We also got the asparagus, which I absolutely devoured! And the Spanish Tortilla, which is a thick round of grilled seasoned potatoes, was equally tasty. The best tapas we ordered, however, was the Veal with lemon and tapers....oh my goodness! It was entirely delicious and had a Mediterranean flare to it. I also followed in "Spanish" suit and had a refreshing sangria to wash everything down. The sangria felt like the perfect way to chill during the HOT Dallas summer. All in all, this restaurant is worth a visit. The service was also very good and the basket of bread they serve you upon sitting was also a nice touch. I would recommend you ask for a seat in the back patio, as it looks to downtown and it is actually the coolest (temperature-wise) part of the restaurant. While I was there, Dallas was on its 37th consecutive day of triple-digit temperatures and this was the first place I went to that felt cool enough to be real comfortable. There were many young couples in the place, since this restaurant is in a very hip and trendy part of Downtown Dallas. It also looks like the perfect place for a cozy and romantic dinner date! Enjoy it!

Great Food in a charming building

By Craig B |

Tried Si Tapas on a Thursday night. The restaurant is in an interesting converted house. Great character in this building. Wood floors some places, brick in another section. Also a nice outdoor dining area. Had clams, mussels, pork, and chicken dishes. All were very tasty. The shellfish seemed fresh and had great sauces. Friendly helpful staff. You can manage to find free parking if you don't mind walking a few blocks. I recommend taking the time to find this out of the way eatery and enjoy several of their selections. Nice view of downtown Dallas from the patio seating.

Excellent service, exquisite food.

By jllantin |

Excellent service, excellent food. Extremely delicious. First time coming to this location, definitely we will return. The Tapas are exquisite. Love the Garbanzo Caviar, out of this world.

Every Time is a Great Experience

By Cass See |

Love this spot in Dallas. Every single time I've been the service has been outstanding. The food is always great. Because it's tapas the food comes out quickly and everyone can share or order something specific. The atmosphere works well for dates, friends, business, family.

Colleague from Madrid recommended

By ckingw |

Group of 9 had business lunch here, one of which is from Madrid. The Sangria was very well received, we ordered 7 different tapas that covered potato, croquette, cheeses, fish, and ham...all were delicious and my Spanish friend reported that it's a good representation of authentic, for Dallas and Texas. Quaint restaurant in Historic State Thomas District in Uptown Dallas, tucked away in an old charming home between the modern residential buildings around it. Indoor, outdoor seating and bar. Variety of menu offerings sure to please anyone wanting a tapa-style meal or midday snack. Beautiful wall of Spanish wines on display, and a likely spot to watch your favorite Spanish football team on the "telly". Parking is going to be an issue, and they have Valet in the evenings. Lunch isn't too bad given that residential parking is open. Salúd!

Excellent!

By Leigh T |

I don't easily give good reviews but this gets 5 stars. The tortilla espanola was very good - we had 12 different dishes and all were fabulous. My husband grew up in Spain and my family eats authentic Spanish meals often when grandma cooks. This is the closest we have found in the DFW area with authentic Spanish food. Plus - it is just an adorable atmosphere. We will be back often!!

Very comfortable place with great food.

By Tanner H |

I came to Si Tapas for the Real Madrid game in the afternoon because I heard it was a watch party. I will say I expected more people there but didn't mind because I could actually hear the game and watch without interruption. The food was about $6-8 a tapas dish. Of course, there are some more expensive ones. They were all very good. Definitely don't expect authentic "straight from Spain" flavor and quality. But it was surprisingly good. My favorite was the patatas con chorizo and the garlic shrimp dish. I did not see my favorite Jamón Ibérico which I'm sure would be extremely expensive anyways, but I can't remember if they offered that. The sangria was a bit expensive and a little too sweet for my taste but we liked it nonetheless. The atmosphere was great. The place is somewhat small and set up in a house. It gives a very European vibe. Very warm and welcoming staff as well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for great food and great conversation. Or of course if you just want to root for Madrid on the weekends.

Good Tapas in Dallas

By stipe1280 |

I made my second visit to Si Tapas with a friend on a Friday night in early March. The place was packed, like last time, but the hour wait for a table to open up was made easier by the quick service of drinks from the bar. When we finally got a table, our order was taken in a timely manner and food started arriving 15-20 minutes later. Everything was tasty and the mussels in marinara and beef in mustard sauce really stood out. This has quickly become one of my favorite places in the downtown Dallas area (uptown). The food is excellent and the place has a very comfortable atmosphere (check out the outdoor back patio on a nice day). It can get a bit expensive and if you go on a weekend evening, you'll have to wait, but it's been well worth the experience for me.

Si Tapas

By AHG54 |

We had a great meal at Si Tapas! The flavors and quality of the tapas was excellent! Everyone in our party of six had a great time.!!!

Would not recommend

By Olif_10 |

I must admit- this was our first tapas experience and I was less-than- impressed. We (the two of us) has about 6 dishes and not one of them was anything special. Basically the same quality and taste as most appetizers at any restaurant anywhere in the US... If you consider the price of each plate of tapas (around ten bucks) then you should come to the conclusion that there really is no real value here. I would also like to point out that the culinary highlight of my tapas night was when we left the restaurant and went through the drive-through at McDonalds to get a Shamrock shake for dessert. Those things are delicious!!

We come here every time we're in Dallas

By Foodie Flashpacker |

We've been coming to Si Tapas every time we're in Dallas for several years now and we've never had a bad experience. The menu is really delicious, the sangria is great and the staff is always helpful. My favorites are the baby shark, the Spanish tortilla and the marinated mushrooms. I would suggest anyone try this place while they're in Dallas.

Excellent Tapas in a quaint atmosphere

By ewekneek |

Ww try to find tapas restaurants in different cities when traveling. Si Tapas in Dallas is one of the best we have found thoughout the country and even better than one we tried in Barcelona Spain! Great food - varied menu and great happy hour options to try many tapas offerings. Lamb was superb, excellent meat/cheese tray.

Great Tapas!

By Jared K |

It's hard to live in Dallas and not eat tapas from time to time. My wife had been to Si Tapas before, but this was my first rodeo. Our waiter was super friendly and gave great, quick service. I also thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, which was both simple and inviting at the same time. Since the general idea behind tapas is to try a bunch of different things, I think it's easiest to review the food in list form. 1. Echegaray Cava white sangria: The sangria was light and crisp, which was a perfect pairing for a hefty meal. 2. Serrano ham croquettes: They were creamy, delicious, and very tasty. Croquettes are one of my favorite tapas picks. 3. Fried calamari with poppy seeds: The batter was nice and light, and they were fried perfectly. I didn't find just an abundance of flavor, and I'm not sure how much the poppy seeds added either. 4. Shrimp in garlic: Not surprisingly, the garlic stood out the most here. The shrimp were cooked well at least. 5. Fried pork belly with chocolate sauce: Fantastic! The chocolate went really well with the pork for some reason. The extra-crisp batter also made this dish extra delicious! 6. Veal sweetbreads with capers in lemon sauce: I found just the right amount of lemon, which paired nicely with the velvety meat. 7. Fried blood sausage: Although only for the brave, this dish was really flavorful. 8. Fried Okra with sea salt and curry. The okra was, as you might expect, nicely salty. The curry was an interesting twist, though I would have liked more of it. 9. Baby lamb chops on the grill: There was a nice sear on the meat, which was also very juicy. I think some black pepper would have made these even better. 10. Sirloin Steak in cabrales sauce: I found a big punch of bleu cheese here. The meat was very rare, which made it really tender. 11. Beef meatballs: The meat was incredibly tender, but the sauce strangely reminded me of Chef Boyardee. As if that wasn't enough food to tide the four of us over, we couldn't resist tacking on some dessert. It was hard to pick just one, but we eventually settled on the Spanish Tempranillo red wine chocolate cake. This was an excellent dessert! The red wine added a nice bitterness to the whole thing, and it's hard to compete with chocolate. There were a few parts of the meal that could have been a little better, but overall I left extremely satisfied. Read my other reviews, complete with pictures: Search "The Barbecue Fiend"

Authentic spanish experience

By Mike M |

My wife and I have been to Si Tapas several times over the past few years. Each experience has been wonderful and consistent. The owners are from Madrid. And when you’re there, it feels like you’re in a Spain. The food is authentic, The ambience and staff perfect. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to truly feel like they’re in Europe, if just for the night.

Best tapas in Dallas

Authentic Spanish tapas & sangria! We had our 1st date here & come back for dinner dates regularly. Delicious tuna, garlic shrimp, potatoes omelette, mixed croquettes, & manchego cheese.

Flavorful small plates

By LTtravels2003 |

This is tucked into a little corner of Uptown; you'd blink and you'd miss it. The menu is full of flavorful dishes- Spanish cheeses, white bean soup with clams, scallops. The house red wine was great, and the dessert portions were generous.

Tapas for Us!

By Betsy F |

Nice selection. Be prepared to be a little adventurous. The egg omelet was really good! A large wine selection is available for those looking for a nice pairing.

Nice and casual

By Josh S |

A group of us met here after an event to have something lite to eat. They have a broad menu with lots of great things to chose from. The good thing about small plates, is you can order several of them and not waste food. So we ordered everything from Brussels Sprouts, Calamari, Pork and sauteed artichockes. Oh and don't forget to save room for the Arroz con Leche

Second time, and I bet there will be more

By wally_dallas |

We tried Si Tapas about a years or so ago, and we really enjoyed the meal. We just went for the second time, and it was even more enjoyable, now being sited on he patio. This is a great gem for Dallas, as it is nestled in a very quite neighborhood, and it is very private. All tapas we tastes were great, other than the chicken with saffron and wine sauce. Service was good, atmosphere great, will be back.

Spanish authentic tapas

By CarlaEb |

Si Tapas is an authentic Spanish tapas place, hidden at the State Thomas neighborhood. Food is very good - love their Spanish tortilla - and the wine list is nice too. When you go with friends, the sangria pitcher is a very good option.

Very Good Spanish Restaurant in Dallas

By Sergiohurtado |

I have been to this restaurant twice in the last month. The food has been great. The restaurant is small, very cozy and nice. The service is good with the majority of the waiters speaking Spanish. The Paella was good, albeit a little bit oily for my taste. The Sangria is to kill for as well as all the Tapas they offer. Highly recommended it.

Perfect Summer Evening Choice

By Alibri67 |

Sangria and Tapas on a hot August night in Texas - perfect in this quaint house off Allen Street. The sangria goes down easily and is a great match for the meatballs, pulpit, tuna, tortilla espanola, beef and who knows what else we ordered! Conversation, food and sangria flows and you leave happy and satisfied without feeling stuffed!

Best tapas outside of Spain so far!

By MMFoucher |

Both the tapas selection and the way they are made is absolutely similar to what I hve been used to find in Spain over the years. Waiters are also competent and know what they serve. A special mention to the Pulpo a la Gallega that was served exactly as it is served in the little cosatal shaks in Gallicia (seasoned with olive oil and pimenton, served sliced thin over boiled potatoes (thinly sliced too) and on the traditional wooden plate. It did bring back many wonderful memories. Thank you.

Amazing sauces

By Yankeehoya |

Our party of six tried at least 15 different tapas. We also had multiple orders of our favorites the lamb chops, the garlic shrimp, and the calamari. Do not waste an ounce of the sauces. I could make a lovely meal out of the sauces, some bread to mop it up, and a glass of wine. Amazing!

Great spanish tapas!

Fantastic, very good food and a great relaxing atmosphere. Every dish was very tasty and I am going to come back to try more. 😀

Hidden Gem in Oak Lawn

By Born2Travel57 |

Si Tapas is a unique restaurant What used to be an old house, has been transformed into a cozy restaurant with ambiance and really great food. Our favorite dishes are Pulpo a la Gallega, Corquetas mixtas, and Coles de Bruselas a la Extremdura. If you are a fan of tapas try this restaurant if you are in the Dallas area.

Great food and service with a welcoming atmosphere

By Lucy E |

The food is great, and the Happy Hour prices are excellent. The service is good. We particularly enjoyed the scallops!

Unusually good price, good food, homely feel

By samwSp |

This is a nice small Spanish restaurant, evidently run by a Real Madrid Fanatic (nothing wrong with that!). It was quite full when we arrived and the early service suffered for it - BUT the servers acknowledged this and apologized before I said anything, and from then out were very helpful. The food was great, most notable the baby eels which were simply divine. They have a nice Spanish wine list, and everything is very affordable. I will be back for sure.

Good tapas

By Eric P |

Good tapas and a nice selection though they did not have my favorite....dates wrapped in bacon. The sangria was a bit on the sweet side and made me think of a grape punch. I'd definitely go back for another meal.

Delicious Tapas

By MarinS413 |

Si is a hidden gem in Dallas for authentic tapas. The menu is unique and every dish we ordered was delicious. I only gave 4 stars because there’s no air conditioning. 90+ degree heat and hot dishes with no AC makes for a slightly uncomfortable meal. Order extra Sangria!

Searching for Spain

By yoshikaleb |

I almost felt like I was back in Spain at this restaurant. We sat outside and the tables and chairs are just like the ones they have at the cafés on every street in Spain. We went during happy hour and they have a generous selection of tapas available for very cheap. Was very happy with the food. The tortilla española was an entire mini-tortilla rather than just a slice, and it was very tasty. Enjoyed a variety of dishes. The only thing I didn't enjoy so much was the atún a la plancha, which lacked flavour. We had crema catalana for dessert and this was delicious. There was also a good selection of coffees available, I had a delicious bombón. It was a lovely treat to come here whilst in Dallas. Also the menus are in English and Spanish, so if you know Spanish tapas you know what you're getting.

Nice Quaint Spot Near the Arts District

By Joe A |

After our visit to Shen Yun, my wife wanted a light tapas meals since it was late. We found this gem less than 5 minutes away from the opera house in a mixed use neighborhood. We started with a pitcher of Sangria which was fruity and delicious, Our first dish was the Plato Iberico, which offered Iberico ham and pork with our choice of cheeses. Next we moved on to the meatballs, pork ribs and quail...all which were delicious. Our server, Claudia, was very attentive and her recommendations were right on point! Only downside to this place is the parking. They provide paid valet parking, which I guess is OK since free on-street parking does not exists.

A Must-Try

By Lisa W |

The food is excellent. There is a pretty sunroom and also outdoor patio seating in back. Parking is a problem - you have to try and find legal parking within walking distance. For lunch, drinks were limited to water or soft drinks, as they were out of bottled tea (no fresh brewed tea). Had to take of one point for those two items. Otherwise, I enjoyed it very much and will go again.

Great Food and good service

By Yoga C |

We dined at Si Tapas last week and the food was amazing. Even though the place is small and gets crowded. Parking is a problem in downtown Dallas, if you arrive early it should be fine. They have a large selection of wines for decent price. I personally liked their carrot salad and spanish omelette. I would highly recommend to try their creme brulee, it is so delicious.

Another great neighborhood restaurant. Great staff, delicious every time!

Outstanding Spanish tapas in Uptown

By Chazz DC |

Within walking distance from the Dallas downtown arts district (if you are Fit and in the mood to enjoy a nice walk). The setting is an old house on Allen Street that is both unpretentiously comfortable and hip with slightly different atmospheres in several spaces. As a couple, you can feel sufficiently isolated and romantic even if the place is buzzing. The tapas are authentic and rival those of the best known tapas restaurant in Dallas. The wine choices are exceptionally appropriate to the food. If you’re in the mood for a Spanish tapas, Sí Tapas Might give you a peak experience.

"Don't Miss This Place:

The food is lovely and prepared with excellence. I have come to love this place and have now been there more than i can remember. So i highly recommend it for the Mexican cuisine.

Hit or Miss

By Jaelovestravel |

I visited this place with my husband and a friend for a late dinner. Right when we arrived we were greeted and seated right away. The decor an ambiance is great. I would recommend this place for large groups. The food was a hit or miss. Some of the things we ordered were yummy but others were terrible. The octopus and Serrano ham were not good at all. I informed the server since he asked how everything was. He took the octopus off the bill because we didn't eat it. The croquetas (ham), coliflower and the garbanzo spinach spread were good, but not amazing. This is not a memorable place. Is just okay. We really loved the ambiance and the service but that's it. It works of you are going for drinks nearby afterwards.

Married Couple’s Date

Bad service, valet parking attendee covering two restaurants at the same time. Host was very sweet. After seated, received waiter with bad attitude. Food and wine was meh... Once outside valet absent again... Out dated, dark... not recommended.

Tapas for all palates in a lovely home setting

By Paul M |

My friend, a chef, kept recommending this place, so he and I went recently during their happy hour. From 5-7p weekdays, each of 12 tapas is on sale for $3 or so, and a pitcher of sangria was $12. I have not dined on tapas in quite some time, and this place reminded me of the reason I enjoy that format so much. Normally, the menu has 30+ options that include beef, chicken, vegetable, seafood and other options. You can order off of the main menu as well as the HH menu, with prices ranging from about $6 to $12 depending on the dish. There are also a small selection of main plates for reasonable prices. A comment first on the sangria. Outstanding! I am not a sangria fan, normally, but this was a great balance of wine and fruit juice. No chunks of fruit, just the juices, and it was deep and delicious. At $12 a pitcher, enough for 3, enjoy it! Everything we had was well prepared. The okra, carrot and other vegetables were roasted or sauteed to a crisp sweetness. Okra, among those, was my favorite, not overly gooey, but very flavorful. Lamb was another standout, as were the two shrimp options. The breads were a nice side, and well suited for those dishes that featured sauces. As for the place, it is a remodeled home. The front opens into a bar (not in use as a bar when I went, which seemed a waste of space). Full bar and a modest but rounded wine list with many South American and Spanish options. The back room steps down a bit from the entry, and is very comfortable, quiet and looks out over a large yard (too cold when I went, so no activity outside). There is free valet, thankfully, because this Thomas Avenue-area location has precious little parking for non-residents. Service was quite good. The young woman serving us was well acquainted with the menu, and impressive. She may have been part of the family who owns the place. Really made the night easy and enjoyable. This is a great place for couples, singles, even families, a place that doesn't break the bank (even after HH) but offers a full service experience. In Dallas, that's not as easy to find as one might like. Enjoy this!

Great Food and Service

By Thomas M |

Went Friday night with my family (5) and had a great meal. We went mainly for the Paella. We ordered an assortment of Tapas and all were good. The sauce that the mussels came in was great for dipping the warm bread in. The calamari was very good as was the Paella. We enjoyed the pitcher of Sangria. Mario, our waiter was on top of it all night. It was crowded, noisy but enjoyable. For as busy as it was our food came out fast.

Cute place, delicious food!!

By Suzi M |

I was visiting a friend in Dallas and we met at Si Tapas for dinner. The place was packed even though it was a Wednesday at 8pm! We ordered several dishes and loved all of them. The staff was friendly as well. I would highly recommend if you love tapas and Spanish food!

Laid back, excellent ambiance

By SFIRES |

We wanted to try a tapas restaurant in Dallas before going to Spain, where they are plentiful. We selected SiTapas, and enjoyed it a lot. Great wines and authentic foods like we enjoyed while in Spain. We recently visited the restaurant again and enjoyed the experience a lot. For a touch of Spain in Dallas, try them.

A hidden gem!

By Karen C |

Nestled in the State & Thomas / Uptown area of Dallas, if you blink you would miss Si Tapas ... that is unless the Zagat's sticker on the front door catches your eye! Clearly a renovated house, this place is such a treat! Expansive bar, wooden floors, wine wall in the back stone-floored room, there's plenty to offer in such a small place. The atmosphere is clean and cozy - my friend and I sat for lunch in that back room looking out to a patio reminiscent of a European cafe: lattice roof, a few tables and chairs enclosed by railings and trees wrapped with lights - can imagine how gorgeous it would be at night! We tried the Tomae al Ajillo (and could have had 2), Aceitunas de la Casa, Montadito de Casa Lucas, Solomillo a la Mostaza and Pollo en Cerveza - and all were spectacular! My friend wasn't a seafood lover, so I wasn't able to try any of those dishes, but there were plenty! MUST TRY: the sangria. I'm not typically a sangria-lover but this was great, very light, refreshing and cranberry-juice like. Parking: during the day this isn't a problem, but at night the only viable option is valet. I am definitely planning a return visit!

Solid Spanish experience in Dallas

By Mark S |

We had visited Spain a few months ago and had not gone back to a Spanish restaurant since returning to the States until we came here. Tapas were all good but nothing that really stood out. Very similar feel and experience to being in Spain. For Dallas fairly priced. Only issue we had was with service at the end really tailed off. Definitely would recommend for anybody looking for an authentic Spanish experience.

Reminds me Spain

By Lenni |

The experience is completely worthwhile!!! Wonderful place! Very good food and quality! The food was splendid and reminds me the typical flavors from Spain. This place take care to offer the original taste of tapas. Probably the dishes are larger that expected for tapas but the important is that the quality and taste of food is amazing! Also, they offer a large menu of Spanish dishes keeping the original recipe from Spain, I love it!! The atmosphere makes you feel in Spain. Many of spanish people goes there to watch soccer games and they are very friendly!! Don't miss this place and ask for spanish beers too!

Si Tapas? Si !

By Jerome G |

Si, or Yes for you non Spanish majors. If you like to sample many dishes or try what others have ordered this is the place to dine with like minded friends. Si Tapas offers a wide variety of small dishes (and large ones too) that make sampling and sharing easy. Order at least one plate from each section of the menu to taste a little everything - get a salad, cheese plate, seafood, veggie, etc. and don't forget a dessert too. This is your chance to try something different from your normal fare because the plates are smaller than normal size entrees but still enough for many to taste. As an example order some octopus or some veal sweet breads - both are very tasty and the thin sliced octopus had a little kick to it. All the dishes our party ordered were plentiful, delicious and consumed without hesitation. I'd suggest ordering at least 2-3 different plates per person - if you are still hungry for more, then order it up, the kitchen sends out dishes quickly. Prices are very reasonable in a quaint converted house in a residential area of Dallas near 75 and 45. The bottle of house white wine (Marques Caceres Blanco) was a bargain and went well with all the dishes. See you there? Si !

Much better places then this in Dallas. Lots of potential but they need to focus on service and food

By billp25 |

The good-veggie paella was solid, wine list was well priced and varied. And, the owner did treat us to a free dessert (see ugly, below). Free valet parking. The bad - tapas were uninspired and ranged from acceptable to poor. The ugly - they don't take reservations. I called at 7pm and said we'd like to come by at 9:30 would that be a problem. The owner said, no problem we can seat you right away at that time. Showed up at 9:30 and: 1. Was told we would have a 40 minute wait, this actually turned out to be 50 minutes. Even after reminding the owner that I had called only 2.5 hours early, he just shrugged his shoulders. If he had just offered to buy us a drink and acknowledge the issue, that would have gone a long way 2. There was no place to sit and wait. Finally some folks left the bar and we were able to sit 3. Unless you speak Spanish/are a regular, the bar tender will ignore you. Finally we were able to buy a bottle of wine, but it took way more effort then it should have 4. Maybe all of this could have been overlooked if the food had been great, but it wasn't.

Very overpriced food for the quality they serve.

The paella tastes like it is Uncle Ben's. The Patatas Bravas taste like potatoes with ketchup, their is nothing "Brava" in that red sauce they use. The best thing was the bread they give you when you sit at the table.

Disappointed

We came here to try the Paella. We started with Pan con tomate (toasted bread with olive oil and tomatoes). It was very good. We were excited to try the Paella mixta, we ordered tea, they only had it in bottles (two flavors), Republic of Tea that can be bought in a store. The paella came out in less than 15 minutes. It takes much longer to cook it properly and to develop the socarrat (crust) on the bottom of the pan. It looked good, like many of the photos however, it was bland, the chicken and pork were over cooked and tough, several prawns were over cooked also along with good ones. The paella was lacking in flavor and in serious need of salt. Even the rice although it ‘looked’ okay was bland. The disappointing meal was topped off by the waiter who did not tend to the table, we had to wait several times to get his attention even though he was just 10 feet away at times. He bought the ticked placed it on the table and stood at the table and waited for me to get my money out. We were due over 40$ in change and he then stood there and asked me if I wanted my change back. I gave a 20% tip even though he did not deserve it. (I will say that the large tip he would have received was given to some excited baristas at the White Rhino Coffee shop around the corner). He was just bad at his job. My though was I won’t be back. We really wanted to like this place, wanted to go back, and try the tapas. It’s possible we might brave another trip some time in the future.

Perfect

A friend and I had Sunday lunch on the back porch on a wonderfully cool spring day. We split the manchego salad and the mixed paella, and both were lovely. The open space behind the restaurant added an unexpected urban oasis feel. Service was prompt and friendly.

Exquisite food, nice service.

Exceptional food. This was my third time visiting this restaurant. The food is extremely delicious. Definitely I will comeback. The service was also great. I will definitely keep it in my main places to eat.

Bueno!

Great little restaurant. Wine prices are excellent compared to what you would usually pay at an American restaurant. We had the Emilio Moro Tempranillo....a steal for $48. Croquettes and spanish omelette were spectacular. Service was attentive. Ambiance was lively. Pan Perdido was awesome. Skip the creme brulee. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this place. We left stuff for $100 including a bottle of wine!

The locale is nice. Service felt rushed but they were courteous. The food was hyped up to us by a close friend but it under delivered. Gambas al ajillo could have used a pinch more of seasoning. The solomillo a la mostaza was enjoyable.

Normal Spanish Food (but only if you are NOT Spanish)

I read a few good reviews about Si Tapas last week and was pretty excited to see if there was finally a decent place where to feel at home (food wise) in Dallas. It turns out this place is actually OK if you are NOT Spanish. If you are, stay away, you will get depressed. We ate the Spanish Omelette (made with mashed potatoes and no onion at all... no taste whatsoever, had to ask for more garlic sauce (yes, not alliolli- the taste was actually more similar to tartara sauce); the garlic prawns were fine, nothing special; the montaditos were on the poor side (pan fried pork with onion comfit and Cabrales- bread was soggy); the croquettes depressed me. They were supposed to be ham croquettes but I can promise you that it took me a lot of observation to actually find the pieces of ham. They had been overcooked (not golden but nearly burnt) and the bechamel was extremely similar to the one from the Maheso croquettes (spanish brand of frozen products). I checked what the rest of the tables were eating to see if maybe I had made bad choices, but pretty much everyone was eating the same. Noticed that most of the people there were either Americans or other nationalities. I guess this restaurant is acceptable if you have no idea what real Spanish food tastes like. If you are Spanish and are aware of the extraordinary flavor of its gastronomy and have basic notions of Culinary Arts, you will know that things could be done better here. On the bright side, the waitress was extremely nice, wonderful lady, always smiling; service was quick and the Sangria was the best part of the night!
