Busy…for good reason

I love the Hot Chicken. My Mister thinks the Hot and Sour Soup is the best he's had. If you're looking for an appetizer, the onion pancakes are great.

Best Chinese in Seattle

By NateLaGran |

Sichuanese Chinese is easily the best Sichuanese food I have had outside of China. I used to live in Shaanxi province and the authentic food at this restaurant immediately brought the experience back to me. The restaurant itself is no-frills, and the service is very basic, but the food is so good that none of that will matter to you. I recommend the mapo doufu (mapo tofu) and the Sichuanese boiled fish. Note for beginners: Sichuanese food is generally very spicy, so be prepared.

Good Chinese food

This is a good place for lunch. They have some pretty authentic Sichuan food. It is a small place, but since it is not in a busy mall it is not very crowded. The food/price value is good.

Chong Ching chicken

By dashark12 |

We live a few blocks from the international district including this hidden spot. We go here almost once a week for the Chong Ching chicken and fish and pickled vegetable soup. Device is fantastic and quality and portions is great. Parking here is terrible and cleanliness is so so. If this location doesn't do it for you try "seven star" restaurant across the street. They are similar just some difference in taste.

One of the best

Loved this place. A hole in the strip mall wall of a place but well worth the time to seek out. I had the Cilantro chicken and my Wife had the broccoli chicken. Both were delicious. My only complaint is the lack of brown rice as an option.

Lunch with friends

Very authentic! Ask for less oil and salt, most of the time that worked for me. We eat at this places 4 to 6 times a year. Quick service and reasonable price.

Spicy Beef Chow Mein

By myinhilo |

I’ve been eating at Sichuanese Chinese for over twenty years primarily for its Spicy Beef Chow Mein. It’s worth going just for that one dish. Fastest service I’ve ever seen...almost too fast. Place was half full and only took five minutes food to come out. Used to love the dumplings too, but they have changed recipe to something that is too doughy and filling isn’t so tasty. Tried the moo shu pork and it was terrible. Vegetable dishes like green beans and ung choi are good.

Omg good!!

By rusty_fwg |

Had a recommendation to come here, so glad we did. The place packed up quickly so expect to be busy in the dinner or commuting hours. Their fried dumplings are yummy, finger sized vessels to aid in eating! Cheap Tsingtao, always a plus. We shared twice cooked pork and boiled fish. The latter was to die for. Spicy, but delicious!! Service great. Can't wait to go back!

One of the best.

We live in Honolulu and spend a few months every year in Seattle. The city is totally amazing with the number of restaurants, but our all time favorite Chinese restaurant is the Sichuanese Chinese 1048 S. Jackson St. A few of our favorites are the spicy ravioli soup with wonderful silkily dumplings, the dried cooked string beans with chicken, the crispy fried fish pieces. We also ordered the deep fried intestines, causing alarm among our two hosts, and the waitress to ask if we really wanted that dish. We did. We have never had dish that was not a complete delight, and highly recommend the place. Google it up and see reviews and their menu. We often think to try another Chinese restaurant, and start out with that intention, because there are many in the city, but always end up there.

Excellent take-out, but next time maybe we'll eat there!

I've read about this place here and in several other places, plus it was recommended by a knowledgeable young man. Lived up to expectation. Good food, some unusual dishes. I actually thought the chow mein noodles were the least exciting. Eggplant really good. Tofu very good. As I said we did take-out, but I got a pretty good look at the place while waiting. Formica topped tables, close together. Not much on atmosphere. But every table was taken and people looked very happy.

Uber eats gone bad

By mustangone2017 |

We order for a family of 4. We ordered through Uber eats. We were visiting Seattle and wanted the food delivered to our hotel. We places the order and paid for it before it was delivered. Our driver kept us updated when he picked up the food and was on his way. When he got there with the food , he has one to go box. Remember I have a family of 4. We called and the only response we got was file a claim we will reimburse you later. We asked if we could get our food redelivered. The lady on the phone said no. We could only file a claim. After an hour of dealing with her. The one entree we did get , the chicken was cold and the veggies were soggy . They did reimburse us for the 3 meals we didn’t get , but did nothing about the cold soggy food .

Filthy Health Hazard

By Benjamin D |

Disgusting filthy and unsanitary. It is unbelievable that this place is even open. We ordered the green beans and just after placing the plate down on the table the two waitresses got together and were whispering to each other. One came back over to our table and took a rag and wiped something off the edge of the plate and said whoops.... she wouldn’t show us what it was. Floors are filthy, tables are sticky, this place is food poisoning waiting to happen

Taste so so, environment not clean

Won't come this restaurant again. Kind of pricy but taste not good. Also this place looks like very dirty.

Very good

this place has very good food and very reasonable prices. we got several dishes, I especially liked curry chicken.

$10 hotpot buffet? Can't beat that. Spicy food fanatics will love this place. It needs to be a bit cleaner though.

Oily, overly spicy food :(

By Heliana Mano |

I don't really like greasy oily and overly spicy food. I love spicy don't get me wrong, I lived in India for almost 5 years and enjoy spicy food but this was just like eating chillies :( Staff was very friendly while ordering on the phone and their prices are affordable. We ordered take out and shared: - dan dan noodles: Overly spicy and oily - mongolian beef: meat quality not the best as meat was tough and didn't taste super fresh - eggplant in garlic sauce: this was nice although eggplant was too mushy so not so great texture and the garlic was so overpowering that brushing your teeth afterwards didn't cut it. - mapu fotu. I guess I just don't like this type of tofu in this sauce. Overall too oily food and overly spicy, not great quality and freshness. Wouldn't order again.

Busy. Friendly. Fast Service.

When my family needs a quick fix for spicy Chinese food we head here. Casual. Fun. All types of folks walk through the door. Many are regulars and know the staff by first name. Go. This place is a genuine experience!

Delicious home cooking

By howardcheryl6 |

Great Sichuan cooking in traditional Chinese family restaurant. Sichuan cooking is known for its spice, but there is plenty here for children and adults who do not like spicy food. If I lived here, I would be a regular.

Yummy and cheap food. It is the best if you go with a bunch of friends!

Authentic Chinese food (a bit greasy for some Americans).

Great food

By doggrrrl |

Best Chinese food I've had in years. Obviously a well-loved popular place. Would return without question. Location is a problem. It's in a little mall --- hard to find on a rainy night. Not much parking --- and the place is too small for the crowd it brings in! Those are the only drawbacks.

Great Food and Restaurant

By James A |

Low key spot with friendly staff and great food. We had a meal that was based on Chinese vegetables, noodles, seafood, and dumplings. Everything was cooked well and quickly. Spicy dishes cooked with care. A great find-- you come here to eat, not for the decor. The food by itself warrants your visit.

Tasty cheap quick food.

By dadhy |

Bare tables, bare bones. Popular. Can be quite crowded, try to go off hours. Good food, large servings. Enjoy

KUSOS to great food.

By bigalsnow |

Amazing food day. We shared multiple dishes and all were phenomenal. The eggplant took the award for best of the best, and I'm not an eggplant junky. Does anyone know if the Redmond location is owned by same people? Can't wait to revisit.

Great food, fast service

By Karen C |

This is a hole-in-the-wall, strip mall joint that doesn't look like much. We came on the basis of the reviews and were not disappointed. The lo mein was fab: ingredients tasted fresher, the flavors were brighter, yet also subtler than standard Americanized fare. Spicy Mandarin Chicken was my husband's favorite; not too spicy, but well-executed. I like a little more spice, but it worked well for our teen son, who's not a fan of hot. The dry fried chicken with beans was interesting - never had it before. We all agreed we liked it, but not as much as the other dishes. The restaurant is nothing fancy, but the food is quite a bit above average. I noticed about a third of the patrons were Chinese, which is always a good sign. Best Chinese food we've had in a very long time!

One of my favorites!

By Kambojambo |

I love this place. They have the best food! Second time coming here, buddies from Seattle took me here last year and this was even better. Seems like a family run place, with fresh food being prepared. I love the spice level and I can't get enough of the fish oil bowl. Can't remember the name but woow!!! The place isn't high end in side but its worth it! Best Chinese hands down!

Great food

By tamanapa |

We went with 9 people and sat at a round table- was a perfect place for a group. The string beans are a must; sweet and sour chicken was really good- crunchy and not too much sauce. The moo sho chicken was good but the pancakes were cold. Lots of fun and a great price.

The best Sichuan Chinese in Seattle.......period!!!

By Vnvet68 |

I have been going to Sichuanese for over 16 years. I have tried most other Sichuan restaurants in Seattle, but I always come back to this one. Their food is awesome and authentic. You feel like you are actually in China, so although it is very simple decor inside.....I still give it an excellent.

Great food

By Ardalanx |

Excellent food; great service; reasonable prices. Even with a couple of picky children, we all left the restaurant very satisfied. Visiting from the San Francisco area, we have our unfair share of good Chinese restaurant. This one definitely is one we will remember.

Unbelievable food / increíble lugar para comer

By Yaiyir L |

This place is super good option to take lunch or dinner. I visit often with my friend and always we shared the dishes. If do you love spicy food I can recommend the beef noodles or crispy chicken with green beans. The mandarin fish is a great mix of sweet and spicy! The prices are great and good service.

HOLE IN THE WALL--GREAT FOOD

By Traveloscopy F |

It feels like a lunch-joint in a little strip mall. And then you taste the food which is delicious and plentiful. The service is also great. Try the garlicky string beans. They ate to die for! Next time i am in Seattle I will be sure to return to the great little eatery.

Best Chinese I've had since my trip to China

By Nico20167 |

We have been searching for a good Chinese place for six years since we moved to the west coast. This little hole in the wall in the International District finally fulfilled our longing! Sure, the ambiance is less than stellar, but the food makes up for everything! We ordered chicken chow mein, Kung Pao chicken, Mongolian beef and a bok choy stir fry. We were thrilled with the taste of every dish. We had our eye on the food of the neighboring tables and it looked equally tantalizing. We will definitely be back! Great service too.

Hot and spicy but flavorful

By elyette |

The menu has many vegetarian options, which I appreciated. It also has extensive meat options. I love food that is very hot and spicy. I have trouble finding it in the Northwest. Usually the flavor is blasted out by the hot spice or the food is not spicy enough. I often have to order chili oil on the side. Not here. I had the hot pepper tofu and it was just hot enough and flavorful to meet my criteria. The balance was perfect. My friend ordered the kung pao tofu which was absolutely delicious. The service is excellent. Prices are inexpensive. This place is a true find.

Awesome find

By Magnus105 |

I am super skeptical of Chinese food coming from a family who owns a Chinese Restaurant. My sister recently moved to Seattle and took me here. I was wowed by the good food. Authentic dishes too. I am so impressed and recommended this place to all my other friends as well!

Yummy Food! Need I Say More!

By Mary S |

My friend and I really enjoy this place. I am a 1 trick poney and alwats get the veggie chow mein with homemade noodles. My frind got a shrimp/ broccoli dish with garlic that was equally amazing. My one regret is wishing they would really put lots of veggies in the chow mein dish as it is veggie chow mein ( I ask each time and it doesn't happen.) But the staff is super nice ( Emily and David- A++) and I am treated warmly.

My favorite restaurant of all time in Seattle. Best Sichuanese food. Owners are from that area. If you want really spicy food, just tell them "woah boo pa lah!"

Amazing as always

By Kambojambo |

Just returned this afternoon, ahhhh so amazing. Wish I took some dishes to go. Boiled fish bowl, hot beer chowmein, Mandarin chicken, and beer. Just the best restaurant with lots of spice. Love it

Love this place

By Kambojambo |

Always my go to Chinese in Seattle. Pre game meal, and great service. It is a hole in the wall, but nothing compares.

Not Authentic

By jerrywuu |

Not impressed... Too salty, not authentic at all, service was meh. We didn't finish but not even bother to take out since it's just not appetizing. When someone asks me about negative experiences in Seattle I immediately think of this restaurant (true).

Our go-to place for a Chinese-food binge

By Michael M |

When we manage to get off our island my favorite travel companion starts making little whimpering noises about how she hasn't had Chinese food in years... And so it's off to Sichuanese Cuisine, a hole in the wall in the International District with all the glamor of a phone booth (remember those?), parking that is chaotic and inadequate -- and absolutely great food. We always order enough for a small army and take the remains home. Last night's dinner was Thunder Noodles (peanut sauce), green beans (cooked in oil, sprinkled with chili, wonderful), mu shu pork, garlic beef (my favorite --tangy but sweet) and twice-cooked pork, which is to say some wonderfully fatty bacon in sauce with vegetables. We are often tempted by the hot pot we see on other tables with its array of meats and vegetables, but can never get past our need for a variety of tastes. Clientele is at least half local, most speaking Chinese, many obviously regulars. Service is remarkably fast, and pleasant as well. One of the questions on the review-writing site is whether this is a good spot for special occasions. Well, it's got no decor and yet it has great energy and great food -- so the said travel companion had her birthday party here a couple of years ago and a dozen of us had a ball.

Yeah...it's that good!

By stephskier |

Spicy, savory, crispy, yummy...perhaps a bit oily, but still awesome!!!! Unremarkable stripmall location, decor is nothing special, but oh, yummy, yummy. Super inexpensive too! Service is always friendly and efficient. Dishes I heartily recommend: Cilantro chicken Pepper tofu The green bean dish Fish pot

Delicious!

By Great Expectations |

We are big fans of Chinese food having lived in NYC, Boston and Washington (DC), and this ranks right up there as some of the best! I would have given it 5 ‘bubbles’ except for the ambiance of which there is not much except to say it is worth it for the excellent food and service!

New cook? An off night?

By Michael M |

We have loved this place, and previously gave it a 5-star rating. Last night (a Friday, busy but presumably with the 'A' team in the house) we had a distinctly mediocre dinner. Given that it's our favorite place for Chinese, we hope it's an aberration. Three of us had a number of dishes (allowing for take-home). The green beans heavy with garlic were, as usual, excellent. The Mongolian beef was good and well-seasoned if a bit chewy. But the crispy battered chicken was dry and flavorless, the twice-cooked pork was OK but unmemorable, the prawns in black bean sauce bland, and the noodles with sesame sauce were also bland. We didn't recognize any faces from our prior visits and wonder if there's been major change. We will hope for a return to its old quality.

Excellent Food for the Price

By CML1234 |

Great food. Kind of a hole in the wall but down home, Sichuan food. The real thing. Try the dry fried string beans that are mixed with small pieces of fried chicken. The green veggies were great too. The staff was very friendly.

WAY DOWN HILL AND DIRTY - SHOCKING

By STEVE C |

I used to eat here from time to time and liked this place. Tonight, the place was just filthy, the tables and chairs look like they came from Goodwill, and even the menus were simply dirty. The food was so so, as was the service. Looks like a place with no money about to go out of business. The walls are stripped bare of any artwork and the restaurant is depressing. I will not return.

Great Szechuan Food

By Arthur K |

This is one of my favorite spots in the ID. Their best dishes don't have the best names for them, but be sure to try the Twice Cooked Pork and the Sichuanese Boiled Fish. Also, their MapoTofu w/Pork is great too. If you want hot pot, they have an all-you-can eat for only $16. I've had it a few times and it's good, but I go here for the above mentioned items instead.

Hole in the wall and delicious!

By SE Seattle Traveler |

This is a "hole in the wall" restaurant. Parking can be tight, so sometimes we park on the next block. The food is amazing and pretty fast. With one round table and a number of rectangular tables, sometimes it's quite crowded. The food is freshly prepared from raw ingredients. My favorites are the eggplant and green bean dishes. Wonderful! Sometimes I contemplate the difference between this restaurant and PF Changs. This place has food freshly prepared by a cook. It's not something you could get at Safeway in the frozen food aisle. Don't get me wrong. PF Changs has opened up the Chinese food experience for much of the USA. But this is the real deal and absolutely delicious. Okay, so the atmosphere is kind of greasy spoon, but that's not what really matters....

Best Sichuanese

By Seattlelite77 |

Not at all fancy- but the best most authentic Sichuanese in Seattle with amazing prices. Get to this under-appreciated gem while you can. Mandarin Fish! Twice cooked green bean with chicken! Ma Pao Tofu- so many chilis!!!

Reminds me of Chengdu

By BackpackerNoMore62 |

I once asked for Ma Po Tofu in a Chinese restaurant in Austin, MN, and nobody in the place seemed to know how to make the dish. I asked my server in the Sichuanese Restaurant if their version was any good, and they said that it was. I agree entirely. I haven't had this dish prepared so well since I visited Chengdu 30 years ago. Don't look for elegant atmosphere, but expect excellent spicy Chinese food at a very reasonable price.
